LAMB OF GOD Shares 'Live In Portland' Concert Film From 'Omens' Tour

Sunny Singh, the man behind Hate5Six, a collection of high-quality videos of hardcore punk concerts he has filmed, mostly in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area, has released a LAMB OF GOD concert film.

Titled "Lamb Of God: Live In Portland", the nearly 90-minute video captures LAMB OF GOD on the "Omens" tour and included cuts from the band's latest album, "Omens", the 2020 self-titled effort and classics from the Richmond, Virginia metal group's catalog.

Singh stated about the project: "LAMB OF GOD invited me to document their set in Portland, OR back in October to celebrate their new record and I obviously said yes. I went all out to make this more of a concert film than a standard live set."

LAMB OF GOD's Live Nation-produced U.S. headlining tour featured special guests KILLSWITCH ENGAGE on all dates. Different legs also saw support from BARONESS, MOTIONLESS IN WHITE, SPIRITBOX, ANIMALS AS LEADERS as well as SUICIDE SILENCE and FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY. The tour kicked off September 9 in Brooklyn and ran through October 20.

"Omens" was released in October. The LP is the follow-up to LAMB OF GOD's self-titled album, which arrived in June 2020. That effort marked LAMB OF GOD's first recordings with drummer Art Cruz, who joined the band in July 2019 as the replacement for the group's founding drummer, Chris Adler.

In August, LAMB OF GOD bassist John Campbell told Germany's EMP that "Omens" is "a fairly dynamic record. There's a few other little surprises and tweaks and things to come in October," he said. "But we recorded it differently this time. We went to Los Angeles and all of us in the same room and same time recording, which gave us some leeway to make changes as things happened and just kind of feel it out in a different way than we've done in the past, which would be everybody kind of going in their corner recording and it gets assembled later. So it was a real team effort on this one, in the recording — all the way through it's been a team effort — and in the recording especially, when we were all in the same room doing that stuff, it was great. I got to spend three and a half weeks working on a record instead of four or five days — working on the recording of the record."

Also in August, Campbell was asked by Knotfest what led to the decision to record "Omens" live in the studio. John responded: "Well, we've been doing this so fucking long, we had to do something different. I believe that was Josh Wilbur's idea to do that. I know he had a great place worked out to do that in. And we had just kind of been doing it the same way over and over and over again, and we were looking to get a little more excitement into it and maybe see if that couldn't produce a different feel on the record."

MEGADETH Shares 'Killing Time' Music Video

MEGADETH has released the official music video for the song "Killing Time", taken from the band's latest studio album, "The Sick, The Dying... And The Dead!" Titled "Chapter V: Killing Time", the video is the fifth and latest instalment of the band's epic multi-part short film revealing the origins of the band's iconic mascot Vic Rattlehead.

Regarding the lyrical inspiration for "Killing Time", MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine told Kerrang! magazine: "'Killing Time' isn't about homicide. It's about procrastination. 'Psychopathy' [another song from 'The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!'] gives you the background] for the person that 'Killing Time' is about. The subject the doctors are talking about is this guy who thinks he's got it all going on. But everything that he does peels back another layer of burnt skin. It's stripping back the paint trying to cover up the mess that this person is. I actually know someone who's just lost everything. We're talking hundreds of thousands of dollars and a multi-million dollar company: gone. And he'd been warned. He was the slick dude in 'Life In Hell'. He was the Junkie. He's definitely the guy in 'Killing Time'."

In a separate interview, Mustaine stated about "Killing Time": "It's about people who are lackadaisical and waste their time. But time is the most valuable thing we have in this world. How many beats of the heart do I have left? How many breaths I am going to take before my last? How many times will I get to say 'I love you' again to my wife, to my kids, to my fans? I don't know, but I'm going to cherish every moment."

"The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!" debuted at the top of the charts during its first week of sales, taking the No. 3 spot on the Billboard 200 as well as number ones on Top Album Sales, Top Current Albums Sales, Top Rock & Alternative Albums, Top Rock Albums and Top Hard Rock Albums. "The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!" is the highest-charting MEGADETH album of all time around the world, notching No. 1 In Finland, No. 2 in australia, poland, Switzerland, and Scotland, No. 3 in the U.K., and more.

MEGADETH recently received its thirteenth Grammy nomination for "Best Metal Performance" for the song "We'll Be Back" from "The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!".

MEGADETH won the 2017 Grammy Award for "Best Metal Performance" for the title track of the band's 2016 album "Dystopia". This marked the group's twelfth Grammy nomination in this category (including nominations in the discontinued "Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance" category).

Watch: DAVE GROHL Joins BILLIE EILISH For Emotional 'My Hero' Duet In Los Angeles

Billie Eilish was joined onstage at her concert last night (Thursday, December 15) at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles by FOO FIGHTERS frontman Dave Grohl. The pair performed an acoustic duet of the FOO FIGHTERS classic "My Hero" as a tribute to late FOO FIGHTERS drummer Taylor Hawkins, who passed away in March.

Eilish, who is wrapping up the year with three headline shows at the Kia Forum, wore a t-shirt with Taylor's image on it during her performance at the Grammy Awards earlier this year and Dave spoke on stage about what that moment meant to both him and the rest of the FOO FIGHTERS, who watched the event at his house.

"The room was filled with real tears of love and gratitude," Grohl recalled of the bandmembers' and their families' reaction at home.

In late March, Eilish and her collaborator brother, Finneas O'Connell, discussed the passing of Hawkins with Access Hollywood's Scott Evans and Zuri Hall on the red carpet of the 94th annual Oscars ceremony at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Finneas said: "Taylor was such a legendary player. We were admirers of his work years before we got to meet him. And we only met him a handful of times — I wish we got to spend more time with him — but he couldn't have been a kinder, cooler, more generous person as well. And such a deeply inspiring person. We're just heartbroken." Billie added: "It was incredibly heartbreaking. It was right before we went on stage. And we got the news, and it really, really tore us all apart. It's horribly, horribly tragic."

Hawkins was found dead in a hotel room in Colombia, shortly before FOO FIGHTERS were due to play a festival in Bogotá. He was 50 years old.

No cause of death was announced, although a toxicology report showed traces of 10 substances in his body, including opioids, marijuana and anti-depressants.

Investigators did not say whether the mix of drugs was a factor.

HEROES AND MONSTERS Feat. TODD KERNS, STEF BURNS & WILL HUNT Release "Let's Ride It" Music Video

Frontiers Music Srl recently announced the upcoming release of the self-titled debut from the new trio, Heroes And Monsters. Formed by three rock n' roll lifers and friends, bassist/vocalist Todd Kerns, guitarist Stef Burns, and drummer Will Hunt, Heroes And Monsters will be released on January 20.

Check out a new video for the song 'Let's Ride It" below, and pre-order/save the upcoming album here.

The players' resumes speak for themselves, but rest assured, if you are looking for hard hitting, hooky, in-your-face rock-n-roll, then Heroes And Monsters will be good for what ails you. The band approaches their style with their influences in tow, but also with an understanding and appreciation of the current rock scene. A best of both worlds' scenario, if you will.

Todd Kerns is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, and producer. He is most noted for being the bass player and backup singer in Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators, and for being the frontman of gold-record-selling Canadian band The Age Of Electric. In more recent years, he has been making his mark as a singer-songwriter with sold out solo performances as well as fronting former KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick’s band and his own Canadian supergroup, Toque.

Guitarist Stef Burns has a fantastic and varied history in rock music. He has spent time playing with pop acts like Sheila E., Berlin, and Huey Lewis & The News as well as rock acts like Y&T, whom he recorded four albums with, and Alice Cooper, playing on the albums 'Hey Stoopid' and 'The Last Temptation'. Stef currently plays with Italian rock superstar Vasco Rossi and also has his own band, The Stef Burns League.

Drummer Will Hunt currently resides in the drum throne for Evanescence, whom he first started playing with in 2007, and has performed and written on their last three studio albums, including their most recent release, 'The Bitter Truth', which debuted at #1 on 27 different countries' album charts. Over the years, the in-demand skinsman has performed with Dark New Day, Skrape, Staind, Vasco Rossi, Vince Neil, Tommy Lee, Slaughter, and more. He has also appeared on albums by Black Label Society, Michael Sweet (Stryper), Crossfade, Dirty Shirley (George Lynch), Device (David Draiman of Disturbed), and more.

OF LIMBO Ride Their Metallicar In “Let’s Go” Video

Rockers Of Limbo have released a tire-screeching video for “Let’s Go”. Known for high energy, on the brink of out-of-control live shows, they create an electric atmosphere that is infectious - making it impossible not to have a good time. The band is racing forward to new heights in 2023.

The “Let’s Go” video was filmed at Baur Films Studio in Long Beach, CA - Directed by Tony Vercelli. They continue “Luke came up with the initial idea to shoot a video in what we call “the Metallicar”, our beat up 2013 Hyundai hatchback that we use to fart us across Long Beach when we aren’t touring. We were just going to put a 360 videocam up in the middle of the car and decided to just drive around being crazy. From there, the idea took on a life of its own and Jake made an Animatic/Story board that took it to another level. When we realized how much cooler hanging upside down and riding on the roof and shit like that would be, we knew the only option would be to shoot it on green screen. Our friend Juan and his son from Arts Break service, who tend to our tour vans mechanical needs, came down to the studio and jacked the car up so we could simulate the wheels spinning and overall supervise that we weren’t gonna do anything stupid…  Well, anything too stupid!  We knew it wasn’t going to end up looking like some Disney/Marvel quality shit. But that almost gives it more charm, honestly. Makes it feel like vintage B grade movie style from the golden era of American cinema.”

Of Limbo says “The song started with the riff and everything just fell into place around that. ‘Let’s Go’ just felt like the right sentiment for the energy of that riff. Then lyrically it’s, ‘What is a song called ‘Let’s Go’ about?’ It’s about saying ‘f*ck it’ and leaping before you look, rather than waiting around for this or that excuse you have created for your inaction. It’s also that the safe option is always to stay with what you know. But getting out of your comfort zone is even if it’s scary or harder at first is ultimately much more rewarding. Just go for it and make things happen!”

The band has previously released songs that include “Happened Again, Nothing But Now”; “Nicotine”; and “Fight For Your Right” (Beastie Boys cover).

Performance wise, Of Limbo pride themselves on making every show a party. They have toured with Wolfmother, Hinder, Candlebox, Buckcherry, Joyous Wolf, and Blue Oyster Cult, among others.

Of Limbo will be playing select live dates in the 4th quarter of 2022, with plans for more new music releases and tour dates starting in early 2023.

NIHILIST DEATH CULT Feat. Former PESTILENCE, SOULSTORM, ABYSS Members Release “Obey & Consume” Video

Hailing from Toronto, Canada, Nihilist Death Cult has recently released its debut album Death To All Tyrants. They are now releasing a video for the track “Obey & Consume”, which is about just following blindly and not questioning anything, and being a good consumer. The time to fight is always now, not later and it was inspired by John Carpenter’s “They Live”.

Death To All Tyrants is in-your-face punk rock that combines angry riffs and hate-fuel lyrics about how the corporate-sponsored news media feeds you the stories and ideas they are paid to push. This record is about the victims standing up to the tyrants, it’s about choosing your own path and not blindly following norms if they don’t suit you. Bassist/vocalist Nick Sagias writes most of the music, but takes in input from his brother, drummer John Sagias and guitarist Ethan Bolduc.

He shares their writing process:

“When I started writing for NDC, I knew that I wanted it to be aggressive, relentless, savage, no breakdowns, short songs, angry hardcore punk, the fact that my brother’s drumming fit perfectly in that and he was into it was a bonus for this otherwise it probably never would have happened. We just wanted to do this relentless style that we love and miss. Poison Idea, early DRI, early Bad Brains, the early dbeat bands, Discharge and GBH, that stuff gets the blood pumping and that’s the kinda stuff we wanna hear and see live.”

Those that get to witness Nihilist Death Cult play live can expect seasoned veterans going up on stage and putting on a show to match the energy of the music. There are no shoegazers here, just three passionate guys that want people to get into their music. They may be from Toronto but they are not a typical attitude Toronto band, they are the antithesis of that attitude.

Recommended for fans of Poison Idea, early DRI, early Bad Brains, Nails, Terrorizer and CroMags, Nihilist Death Cult's album Death To All Tyrants was released on December 2, 2022.

Order on Bandcamp.

SILVER BULLET To Release Shadowfall Album In January; "The Ones To Fall" Music Video Streaming

Finland's Silver Bullet are back with a new studio album. Shadowfall will be released on January 20 via Reaper Entertainment.

Silver Bullet’s inception dates back to the year 2008 when the band was founded under the name of Dirge Eternal. Former Dreamtale vocalist Nils Nordling and ex-Turisas bass player Hannes Horma completed the pack and helped forging the full-length debut Screamworks that was released in mid-2016. The album’s guiding theme – classic horror movies – was masterfully transferred to the stage, with actors serving as zombie nurses, possessed little girls and even as a chainsaw-wielding lunatic, making Silver Bullet’s entertaining live shows an audiovisual experience. After a highly successful stretch of touring, the Finns returned with their second offering of powerfully orchestrated, riff-infused symphonic heavy metal in 2019. Though the backdrop of horror flicks was left behind, Mooncult nevertheless served as a real spine-chiller, offering a thrilling plot set in the vastnesses of Scotland.

With a new singer, Bruno Proveschi, at helm, Silver Bullet evolved into a versatile metal monster. Conquering festival stages like Rockfest, Saarihelvetti and Metal Capital Festival, brought them recognition they truly deserve. At the same time they were writing a new opus, this time without any limiting theme.

Working again with the metal powerhouse Reaper Entertainment Europe, Shadowfall truly solidifies Silver Bullet's status in the metal scene as one of the most promising melodic metal acts of the decade. With the new album, they are also launching Overtour To Armageddon, a full-fledged European tour consisting of 31 shows around Europe and in Finland.

RUINTHRONE Debut "I Am The Night" Music Video

Italian fantasy power metallers, RuinThrone, will be releasing their new J.R.R. Tolkien-inspired album, The Unconscious Mind Of Arda, in January via Rockshots Records. The band have released a music video for the new single, "I Am The Night". Watch below.

In this song, the band recounts the right support brought by those who dare to go in the opposite direction. The song is dedicated to those who carry a difference, to those who have the courage to be a dissonant voice. Morgoth is the symbol of it all; in the theme of Iluvatar he refused to play a music that needed to be well-tuned with the others, instead he played a dissonant melody. This bold action will be a messenger of new creations. Banded in the void, alone, the song imagines Morgoth laughing at his punishments as he completes his work.

The band adds about the song: "Talking about which song any of us would have chosen as a single, everyone agreed that at least one had to be a good power metal song. That kind of song that, when played live, you can see people flying into the bar and headbanging until the end. So the choice was between this and 'Blessed By Loneliness.' It wasn’t an easy choice, but in the end we chose 'I Am The Night'. The chorus is so epic, Haedus reaches the higher notes of his vocal range and is also easy to sing for the audience. Guitar and keyboard solos are so cool and fast, the double case, the length of the song.. no other choice but this."

The album itself has been composed of stories inspired by Tolkien’s poems, his “Legendarium”. The band hopes the concepts they wrote can be “messengers” of reflection for their listeners, turning in a better awareness of their daily life.

"With this album, we think we reached our own identity. Back in the early years, we started with a classic German power metal style, but year by year we changed and matured musically. This is why we use 7-string guitars with 1/2 step-down tuning, extreme vocals, etc. For this new record, we also focused on an alternative point of view of some stories written by Tolkien. We thought it would have been interesting to explore not only some interesting characters and heroes but also the mind of the main villains," adds guitarist Nicolò de Maria.

The Unconscious Mind Of Arda is mixed and mastered by Giuseppe Orlando (sound tech for Rhapsody of Fire) at the Outer Sound Studios. Preorder at the Rockshots Records webshop.

Japan's SIGH Premier "Shoujahitsumetsu" Music Video

Cult Japanese black metal legends, Sigh, have released a video for "Shoujahitsumetsu", featured on their new album, Shiki, released back in August via Peaceville. Watch the new clip below:

Shiki, an opus of dark & eclectic blackened heavy metal, shrouded in traditional eastern influences, marks the latest chapter in the Sigh legacy and includes some of the band’s heaviest and darkest material for some years; a fine hybrid of at times primitive black metal akin to early influences such as Celtic Frost amid more epic melodic heavy metal riffing and solos. It will take you on a journey through the strange and the psychedelic, incorporating a whole eclectic mix of genre styles & experimentation throughout their career. Highlighting that Sigh has remained a vital creative force in the avantgarde field whilst maintaining their old school roots.

The word "Shiki" itself has various meanings in Japanese such as four seasons, time to die, conducting an orchestra, ceremony, motivation, colour. The two primary themes for the album are "four seasons" and "time to die". The concept and artwork is based around a traditional Japanese poem, and on Shiki Mirai explores how at this stage of life he himself is going through autumn, with winter coming soon, and so empathizes with the contrasting sentimental feelings from watching cherry blossoms (a symbol of spring) in full bloom.

Joining Mirai and Dr Mikannibal for this release are Frédéric Leclercq of Kreator, plus US drummer extraordinaire, Mike Heller of Fear Factory and Raven, along with an appearance by longtime member Satoshi Fujinami on bass. Shiki was recorded across multiple studios, and mixed and mastered by Lasse Lammert at LSD studios in Germany. The album utilises a whole host of instruments to give further texture and dynamics to the compositions and eerie atmosphere, incorporating traditional oriental instruments such as the Shakuhachi & Sinobue flutes.

Sigh, featuring mainman Mirai Kawashima, Satoshi Fujinami & Kazuki Ozeki formed in 1989/90 and following their initial demos, Shinichi Ishikawa was brought in, and Sigh set about recording the masterpiece debut Scorn Defeat for Euronymous’ Deathlike Silence Productions, going on to become one of the country’s greatest and most revered metal exports.

Shiki is available on CD / black vinyl LP / limited edition green vinyl LP and digital. Order here.

CREYE To Release III: Weightless Album In February; "Spreading Fire" Single And Video Out Now

Swedish rockers, Creye, have announced the release of their new album, their third overall, III: Weightless, on February 17. A new single and music video, "Spreading Fire: has been released today. Watch the video below, and pre-orders/save III: Weightless here.

As with their last album, II, this new album sees the band’s songwriting and playing jumping by leaps and bounds to put them at the forefront of the Swedish melodic rock scene. With an album and live EP as well as multiple gigs under their belt, this lineup of Creye has truly gelled and that cohesiveness shines through on III: Weightless. Fans of the band's previous work certainly won't be disappointed and will also be thankful that the band has managed to evolve while staying familiar.

After releasing the Straight To The Top EP in early 2017, Creye signed a multi-album deal with Frontiers and released their self-titled debut album in October 2018. After announcing that August Rauer would be the new frontman for the band in late 2018, Creye toured in Sweden and Europe in 2019, including appearing at Melodicrock Fest, Frontiers Rock Sweden, and the Rockingham Festival. Creye regrouped in the studio in late 2019 to start working on the follow-up album to their self-titled debut. The plan was to refine and improve their songs and approach. The band’s strong determination to achieve this goal shone through on what would become their second album, II.

With III: Weightless, Creye's evolution as a premiere band in the Swedish melodic rock scene continues unabated.
