BOURBON HOUSE Releases Official Music Video For High Energy New Single, "Resonate"

Heavy blues rock band Bourbon House has revealed the official music video for their pulse pounding new single, "Resonate". Directed and edited by Jocelyne Berumen, and filmed at the historic Henry Miller House in Wausau, WI, "Resonate" is the first of five songs to be released through December, 2022.

"We're inspired by so many of the rock music pioneers from the '60s and '70s and we wanted to pay our respects by creating a track that isn't just influenced by them but is a very obvious nod to them. What those decades of rock bands have accomplished with their music is timeless and still resonates today." - Bourbon House vocalist Lacey Crowe

Bourbon House are a modern rock ‘n roll band whose music is just as timeless and infectious as their predecessors Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, and Bad Company, to name a few. Lead by the powerful and unique vocals of Lacey Crowe, Jason Clark (guitar), Jake Steinmeyer (drums), and Steve Lotharius (bass) make up the Wisconsin based rock band.

Crowe and Clark founded the band in 2017 and have been on an upward trajectory ever since the release of their debut self-titled EP. Following up their first album was Wild Abandon (2018), and most recently, Into The Red which was released in 2021.

Bourbon House has an uncompromising honesty that draws fans in from the beginning. The desire to create an escape within their music is the driving force behind their artistry. Their songs utilize influences that go beyond just sonic themes and ventures into broad and interesting topics within their lyrics, as both Crowe and Clark are gifted writers themselves. Bourbon House are poised to develop their signature sound and style even further with these next releases.

PANTERA Bassist's THE REX BROWN EXPERIENCE Performs At 'Gibson Garage Fest' (Video)

THE REX BROWN EXPERIENCE, the "supergroup" featuring PANTERA bassist Rex Brown and SKID ROW guitarist Dave "Snake" Sabo alongside Jared James Nichols, Dennis Holm and Cesar Gueikian (Gibson),performed a set of classic rock and metal covers at Gibson Garage Fest on June 9. The event celebrated the first anniversary of the Gibson Garage — the ultimate guitar experience and music destination in the heart of downtown Nashville.

Video of THE REX BROWN EXPERIENCE's performance can be seen below.

Featured songs:

00:00 - Cesar band introduction
02:41 - "Mississippi Queen"
06:02 - "Highway To Hell"
10:33 - "Jailbreak" featuring Kevin Griffin on vocals
16:52 - "Man In The Box"
23:07 - "Symptom Of The Universe"

Gibson Garage Fest attendees enjoyed artist panels, one-of-a-kind giveaways and experiences, participated in guitar-playing lessons and enjoyed live music from a wide range of generations and genres spanning country, Americana, rock, blues, and pop.

Said Brown: "The Gibson Garage embodies everything a player including beginners, would ever want. It's the Holy Grail of guitars. Every model is on display and available to be played — the ultimate collection of killers! And in the event that your favorite model isn't on their vulgar display trusses, you can pick out the woods of your very own custom model! There's simply not a cooler experience than the Gibson Garage!"

Nearly two weeks ago, it was announced that PANTERA's surviving members Brown and Philip Anselmo (vocals) will unite with guitarist Zakk Wylde (OZZY OSBOURNE, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY) and drummer Charlie Benante (ANTHRAX) for a world tour under the PANTERA banner.

Anselmo and Brown, along with Wylde and Benante, will headline a number of major festivals across North America and Europe and stage some of their own headline concerts.

According to Billboard, the lineup has been given a green light by the estates of the band's founders, drummer Vincent "Vinnie Paul" Abbott and guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, as well as Brown, who last year said Wylde wouldn't tour with PANTERA if a reunion were to happen. It's unclear what changed his mind.

Talk about a possible PANTERA "reunion" intensified when Anselmo regularly joined Wylde's BLACK LABEL SOCIETY to perform PANTERA's song "I'm Broken" during DOWN's 2014 stint on the "Revolver Golden Gods Tour". That buzz only got stronger after Brown joined the jam on May 23, 2014 when the tour swung through Texas.

Up until his passing, Vinnie remained on non-speaking terms with Anselmo, whom the drummer indirectly blamed for Dimebag's death.

Vinnie Paul and Dimebag co-founded PANTERA. When PANTERA broke up in 2003, they formed DAMAGEPLAN. On December 8, 2004, while performing with DAMAGEPLAN at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio, Dimebag was shot and killed onstage by a troubled schizophrenic who believed that the members of PANTERA were stealing his thoughts.

Watch: SOUNDGARDEN's KIM THAYIL Joins THE BLACK CROWES On Stage In Seattle

SOUNDGARDEN's Kim Thayil joined THE BLACK CROWES on stage at the latter band's Seattle-area show this past Wednesday (July 20). Also appearing with them was R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck.

The musicians came out during the encore of THE BLACK CROWES' concert at Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery Amphitheatre in Woodinville, Washington. Buck appeared first, joining THE BLACK CROWES for a cover of his band's "The One I Love". He and THE BLACK CROWES were then joined by Thayil as they performed a rendition of THE VELVET UNDERGROUND's "Rock And Roll".

A 12-minute video of the performance was shared by THE BLACK CROWES on their Instagram and can be seen below.

THE BLACK CROWES recently embarked on the 2022 North American tour celebrating their classic 1990 debut album, "Shake Your Money Maker". The 34-date trek kicked off on June 9 and will run through July 24 before picking up again on August 13 and concluding on August 29.

The 2021 leg of THE BLACK CROWES' "Shake Your Money Maker" tour ended last September at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in Bethel, New York.

Joining Chris and Rich Robinson in the new BLACK CROWES lineup are longtime bassist Sven Pipien, who played with the band live from 1997 up until the band's hiatus in 2015, along with Brian Griffin on drums, Joel Robinow on keyboards and Isaiah Mitchell on guitar, plus backup singers Mackenzie Adams and Leslie Grant.

Rich told Cleveland.com that he and his brother wanted to re-start THE BLACK CROWES with a clean slate. "There was a strong agenda in the band [previously] to keep Chris and I apart and keep Chris and I fighting," he said. "We just didn't want to have to deal with any of that negative [stuff], so it had to be this way in order for it to be what we want."

"Shake Your Money Maker" was re-released in multi-formats sets in February 2021 through UMe/American Recordings. The album, fueled by singles "Jealous Again", "Twice As Hard", "She Talks To Angels" and a cover of fellow Georgian Otis Redding's "Hard To Handle", has sold over five million copies.

This past March, former THE BLACK CROWES drummer Steve Gorman filed a lawsuit against the paid over unpaid royalties. In his complaint, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court against Chris and Rich and The Black Crowes Partnership, Gorman claimed faulty accounting resulted in him missing out on royalties from THE BLACK CROWES' classic albums.

When THE JOE PERRY PROJECT dates were first announced last month, Perry said in a statement: "Since my schedule has freed up and we have a slot of time to play some shows, I wanted to jump on that opportunity. Aside from the obvious terrible effects the pandemic brought with it, I missed being on the road. However, it is actually the first time that myself and my wife Billie were able to sleep in our own bed for this long of a period without having to think about packing our bags. So it has been a new experience for us. Now, I'm really excited to do these shows, especially with this lineup."

The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee continued: "The setlist will have a couple of new songs, a couple of my other solo songs, and a couple of AEROSMITH songs that AEROSMITH usually doesn't play, and everything in between…"

"I am also releasing another solo album on vinyl called 'Sweetzerland Manifesto MKII' later this year, so it seemed like the perfect opportunity to get some of the new songs out there. And since people will probably be sharing the new tracks on social media, the two new songs from the set — which I recorded in London with my sons Roman and Tony — are 'Quake', with vocal by Gary Cherone, and 'Fortunate One' which features Chris Robinson. The new album will also include a couple of songs from the first release ('Sweetzerland Manifesto'),some of which weren't ready to go on that initial record."

Following these shows, Perry will return to his AEROSMITH commitments.

"We are gearing up to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the band and will definitely have some incredible forgotten treasures for our fans that we found deep-diving into the vaults and there's a lot more to come," he said. "On the live side, we can't wait to get back on the stage together! We have a special date in Maine in September and our big 50th-anniversary show at home at Fenway [Boston] before we head back to Vegas for the two residencies."

ARCH ENEMY Drummer DANIEL ERLANDSSON Posts Live Playthrough Video Of "House Of Mirrors"

Arch Enemy drummer Daniel Erlandsson has shared a live playthrough video of the song "House Of Mirrors", filmed May 4, 2022 at the Ogden Theatre in Denver, CO.

Daniel is sponsored by: Pearl Drums, Sabian, REMO, Wincent, Steinberg, Roland, On Trigger, and SE Electronics.

"House Of Mirrors" appears on Arch Enemy's new album, Deceivers, which will be released on August 12, 2022 via Century Media Records. The studio version of the song can be enjoyed below.

A collection of 11 tracks that are ruthlessly catchy and mercilessly violent, Deceivers stands toe-to-toe with the highlights of Arch Enemy's storied catalogue.

Guitarist Michael Amott comments: "Having just celebrated our 25th anniversary as a group and now releasing our 11th studio album, one could easily assume that we would be cruising along and going through the motions at this point. In reality, nothing could be further from the truth when it comes to Arch Enemy and our new album, Deceivers. It is without a doubt always a challenge to raise the bar each time in both the songwriting and production side of things, and it can feel a bit daunting before we get into it. But once we do get started and fully immerse ourselves in the creative process, it's really like there is nothing else in the world and we are very focused. And believe it or not, for the most part, we have a ton of fun making this music! Creating Deceivers was no different, once again we shut out the outside world and went deep into the artistic zone. I believe we pulled out some really interesting musical and lyrical themes this time, a few things might even raise an eyebrow or two - while retaining all the signature elements of the band. In the end, it's Arch Enemy at full speed and power!"

Deceivers tracklisting:

"Handshake With Hell"
"Deceiver, Deceiver"
"In The Eye Of The Storm"
"The Watcher"
"Poisoned Arrow"
"Sunset Over The Empire"
"House Of Mirrors"
"Spreading Black Wings"
"Mourning Star"
"One Last Time"
"Exiled From Earth"

Encore:

Encore 2:

11. Wild Child
12. I Wanna Be Somebody

W.A.S.P. recently postponed its European 40th-anniversary tour, originally scheduled for spring of 2022, until the spring of 2023. The new dates will take place in March, April and May of 2023. All tickets previously purchased for the 2022 tour will be valid at the rescheduled 2023 shows.

W.A.S.P. will embark on its first U.S. tour in a decade this fall. The trek will coincide the band's 40th anniversary and will include support from ARMORED SAINT and MICHAEL SCHENKER on select shows.

Blackie Lawless has led W.A.S.P. as its lead vocalist and primary songwriter since its beginning. His unique brand of visual, social and political comment took the group to worldwide heights and sold millions of records alongside a legacy of sold-out shows across the globe for four decades. He is joined in W.A.S.P.'s current lineup by bassist Mike Duda and guitarist Doug Blair, whose tenures in the band span 26 and 18 years respectively, along with drummer extraordinaire Aquiles Priester.

In a May 2022 interview Meltdown of Detroit's WRIF radio station, Lawless spoke about the status of his long-in-the-works autobiography. He said: "It's taken a whole lot longer than I thought it would, but it's been one of the most fun things I've ever done in my life. It's a tremendous amount of work because there's so many things, over the course of a lifetime, that you forget about, especially when you do what we do for a living. Anybody that does what we do, it's not like the average person out there where you go to work and you do your thing and you get into a routine. And there's nothing wrong with that; it's different.

"I've often said that I've already… because of the schedule and the way that any band has to do things — you're here today; you're somewhere else tomorrow — it's like you've already lived four or five of somebody else's lifetimes," he explained. "And because of the amount of intensity that goes into the same amount of space that everybody has. Twenty-four hours for somebody that does this is not the same as twenty-four hours for somebody that's in a routine. And it can get a little on the insane side.

"The first thing I did was interview everybody that I could think of and said, 'What are your memories of this?'" Blackie revealed. "So I got those. But then where I got the majority of it from was really going back in my own head. And the deeper I got into it, the more things I had totally forgotten about. Because, like I said, there's so many things that will happen in a given day that the only thing you remember is the most intense thing. But maybe the two or three other things that were just under it were just as intense, but you don't remember it. You remember being on the flight the time the guys got angry with a stewardess and stuffed her in the overhead bin, but you don't remember the two or three things that happened under that. That's a true story, by the way."

Asked what he has learned about himself from digging into his life while writing his book, Blackie said: "In the preface of the book, I write that this has been a process of discovery — both good and bad. I would say, after it's all said and done, that it's been far, far more good than bad, because what it's done for me, it's been like writing a script to a movie. And again, like I said, there's a lot of stuff you forget about. But also at the same time, what it does is it helps you connect the dots of your own life, of maybe things that you didn't really think about were connected, and you go back and you look at it and you go, 'This is as plain as the nose on my face. Why couldn't I have seen this before?' And there's been a number of incidences like that — just things that are personal that might not be something that you could share with anybody else, because it wouldn't make sense to them. But then again there may be things that are. So I'm hoping that when people read this, they'll see a lot of themselves in it."

As for whether fans can expect to see Blackie's book and a new W.A.S.P. album released simultaneously, Lawless said: "That was the plan to begin with, but the book is taking way much longer than I thought. We were talking about doing records and trying to get 'em right. Well, it's the same with this — I'm gonna do it once, and I want it to be right."

NOCTEM To Release Credo Certe Ne Cras Full-Length In October; "We Are Omega" Music Video Streaming

Iberian black/death metal outfit and recent MNRK Heavy signees, Noctem, will unleash their maniacal Credo Certe Ne Cras full-length on October 28, today unveiling the record’s first single, artwork, and pre-orders.

In spirit, presentation, and philosophy, Noctem shares much in common with Watain, Rotting Christ, Belphegor, and Gorgoroth, while sprouting their own decaying branch of a rotten metal tree. Any extreme band with Spanish-style nylon string guitars in their arsenal owes a sizable debt to them. The band unveiled its fifth full-length studio album, The Black Consecration, in 2019.

Noctem follows that career landmark with a new, definitive masterpiece, merging the crushing cacophony of angry, adrenaline-fuelled lust with newfound sorrows and mournful melodic might. Credo Certe Ne Cras (“I Believe With Certainty That There Is No Tomorrow”) is a work of art. The album demands to be experienced as much as listened to, invoking ritualistic examination.

As emphasized in the brilliant album opener “I Am Alpha,” vocalist Beleth conceived of Noctem over twenty years ago. It grew to monstrous proportions, embodied in the album closer “We Are Omega,” which celebrates the unstoppable lineup completed by Moss (guitars), Tobal (guitars), Varu (bass), and Voor (drums). Credo Certe Ne Cras broadens its old-school-sounding predecessor's raw, filthy fury with bigger production and melody without sacrificing the frostbitten 200 mph winds of anger and blast beats.

In advance of the Credo Certe Ne Cras’ official unveiling this fall, today the band unleashes a video for first single, the aforementioned “We Are Omega”. Notes the band, “It gives us divine pleasure, and great delight to finally be able to present the first single from our next full-length album to our faithful horde of devils. ‘We Are Omega’ represents a new dawn, and the oncoming album - a new era.”

Watch the video below.

Credo Certe Ne Cras will be available on CD, LP, cassette, and digital formats. Find pre-order options here.

HEADSTONES - Flight Risk Album Available In October; Title Track Music Video Posted

Canadian rockers, Headstones, are back with their highly anticipated full-length album, Flight Risk, out October 14 via Known Accomplice. Flight Risk is pre-apocalyptic rock and roll at its finest, following up their 2019 release PeopleSkills, which garnered two Top 10 radio hits with “Leave It All Behind” and “Horses.”

This is one of the most subversive Headstones rock and roll records to date. Flight Risk is the result of years of relentless work ethic and dedication, a testament to the long-standing relationships within the band and their team. The album features a surprise co-write on the track "Ashes", between Hugh Dillon and long-time friend and collaborator Taylor Sheridan; one of the most prolific, premier storytellers of his time, and architect of hit series’ Yellowstone and 1883, Oscar-nominated films Sicario and Hell or High Water.

The first track, “Tangled” – shared last month - is a monstrously uncompromising ode to the 21st century, with elements of Link Wray, The Deadboys, and a hint of Dylan-esque disregard. The track is burning up rock radio with plays at Indie88 (Toronto), Live 88.5 (Ottawa), The Bear (Edmonton) and landing on key Spotify playlists Ready To Rock and New Music Friday.

The title track, “Flight Risk” – out today – is a defiant yet intricate juxtaposition of lyric and music, showcasing the band’s incredible songwriting talent, alongside Dillon’s rapid-fire vocals. Watch a video for the song below.

“You gotta try and try
You gotta dodge the motherfuckers
‘Cause they always keep coming
And there’s never any cover”

PRIMITIVE Announce New EP, Release Single & Video For Title Track "With The Rats And Snakes"

Making their mark on the Australian metal scene since 2016, Melbourne act Primitive are set to strengthen their presence and demand the attention of the unsuspecting, with their aggressive new single "With The Rats And Snakes" - the title track from their upcoming EP, out August 12.

Without limiting themselves to a particular sub-genre, Primitive incorporate their brand of abrasive yet memorable riffs, solos, grooves and hooks - sounding something reminiscent of the wave of early 2000’s American Heavy Metal & Metalcore styles.

Frontman/guitarist Tim Gauci adds, "With The Rats And Snakes is a natural step to a more directed and matured sound. It was a conscious effort to learn from our previous efforts, see what we could expand on, and introduce new elements to draw closer to perfecting ‘our sound.’ The title track/first single perfectly encompasses what we’ve done before, and what we’ve recently discovered in the writing room."

Since their debut, self-titled EP (2017), and single "For The Weak" (2019), Primitive have shared the stage nationally and internationally with Max and Iggor Cavalera, Alien Weaponry, Psycroptic, Fleshgod Apocalypse, The Crown, Origin and more. The new EP, With The Rats And Snakes, exhibits a further expansion to their relentless sound and solidifies themselves as worthy contenders to reach the heights of some of metal’s biggest and most respected heavy hitters.

Tracklisting:

"Curse"
"With The Rats And Snakes"
"Broken Hands"
"The Last Nail"
"God Is Beneath Us"
"Rivers"

THOUGHTCRIMES Feat. Former DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN Drummer BILLY RYMER To Release Debut Album In August; "Keyhole Romance" Video Streaming

Long Island-born five-piece, Thoughtcrimes, will release their debut full-length album, Altered Pasts, on August 26 via Pure Noise Records.

“Altered Pasts was shaped by the world around us and within us at the same,” explains guitar player Brian Sullivan. “This album is both a reflection and synthesis of our cognitive, emotional and spiritual processes, as well as a catharsis."

Produced by Mike Watts, the 11-song collection is previewed with today’s release of “Keyhole Romance”, and its accompanying Tom Flynn directed video, which can be found below.

"This is possibly the most ambitious track we’ve ever made,” notes drummer and guitar player Billy Rymer. “We wanted to see how far we could push ourselves utilizing dynamics and pure chaos to cohesively create something disgusting yet beautiful. A concept that lead to the treatment of the music video with the high energy performance segments contrasting with the bright colors and gracefulness of the actress."

Altered Pasts is the perfect soundtrack for the quasi-dystopian times we find ourselves in. At times an intensely savage listen, at times gracefully gentle, the songs flow together to create one of those rare records that takes you – literally, metaphorically, spiritually – on an actual journey. It’s an album that creates its own world, an alternative universe, a monochrome vision of reality where the air is heavy with despair and the weight of human existence.

That’s conveyed with brutally violent, visceral explosions of noise such as “Panopticon,” “Dare I Say,” and “Deathbed Confessions” as well as through more elegant and hypnotic swirls of sound such as “New Infinities” and closer “Lunar Waves,” all propelled by singer Rick Pepa’s cathartic and visceral vocals, guitar player’s Russ Savarese dynamism and the propulsive playing of bass player Cody Hosza - which don’t just match the dynamics of the music but elevate them.

There’s also the spoken word track “Hai Un Accendino,” which features poet and Michael Clarity reading a poem he wrote specifically for the band as he found himself stuck in Vietnam at the very beginning of the pandemic. Sometimes, as on the monolithic and majestic “Deathbed Confessions,” those two extremes combine to create something that sounds like the slow-motion end of world and all existence, powerful and nuanced, soothing and terrifying, in equal measure.

Album pre-orders, which include several limited-edition vinyl variants and a CD, as well as digital pre-saves can be found here.

DEVOUROR Premier "Oath Of Devil's Cross" Music Video

Devouror's debut full length, Diabolos Brigade, is set for release via Listenable on September 30. Watch a video for the track, "Oath Of The Devil's Cross", below.

Devouror, forged in Hell’s Fire, November 2018 Singapore, by Shyaithan (guitars, also from Impiety). The band at present consists of long time komrades Hades (vocals, also from and founder of Battlestorm), Asura (guitars, also from and founder of Deus Ex Machina), Cryptor (bass,ex-founding member of Demisor) and lastly Dizazter (drums, also from Impeity/ Depravity).

Devouror defines it’s sonic wrath arrogantly as ‘Bestial Deathcult Warfare’ with late 80s/early 90s influence from Possessed, Sarcofago, Necrovore, Blasphemy, Death, Sodom. With this being said, Devouror is not a project of sorts, but a brutal 5-beast blackened metal of death squadron that scoffs, hacks and slays. All members are veteran diehards with filthy back-grounds of over 25 long years of dedication and commitment raising the old glorious flag of unholy black death .

Fans of brutal blackened death metal influenced by the bands listed above should look no further, this will undoubtedly be one of the most diabolically extreme albums of the year.

GEMATRIA Feat. SIX FEET UNDER Guitarist RAY SUHY To Release Debut Album In September; "Unconquered Sun" Video Posted

New Jersey-based progressive/technical instrumental metal duo, Gematria, presents their debut LP, Gematria II: The Spindle Of Necessity. The album has been confirmed for release in September through Nefarious Industries who today issues its cover art, tracklisting, and video for the lead single, “Unconquered Sun”.

Gematria is a collaboration between Ray Suhy (Six Feet Under, Ray Suhy/Lewis Porter Quartet, ex-Cannabis Corpse, ex-East Of The Wall) and Steve Honoshowsky (Daughter Vision, Billy Martin’s Fang Percussion, No Use For Humans). The duo formed in 2017 out of a mutual respect for each other’s playing, a myriad of shared musical influences and a love for esoteric studies and explorations. Their first recordings, a five-song eponymous EP, was released by Nefarious Industries in 2018.

The songs on their proper full-length release, Gematria II: The Spindle Of Necessity, were composed using elements of gematria, a qabalistic numerological system of relating words to numbers, the I Ching, sacred geometry and the writings of Aleister Crowley and Austin Osman Spare to help generate rhythmic and melodic ideas. Recorded by the band throughout 2020/2021 with the drums recorded by Adam Vaccarelli at Retromedia Sound Studios who mixed the album, mastering was handled by Alan Douches at West West Side Music. The album features a guest electric flute solo on “Spindle Of Necessity” by Melissa Keeling, and a vocal choir on “Unconquered Sun” performed by Emily Grove, recorded by Steve Greenwell. The artwork was created by Steve Honoshowsky and the layout/design handled by Greg Meisenberg. Gematria II: The Spindle Of Necessity is a combination of intricate King Crimson-esque parts mixed with ambient soundscapes, blistering improvisations, and powerful drumming.

The album’s lead single, “Unconquered Sun,” has been delivered through a captivating visual accompaniment created by video artist Uzair Ahmad and Ray Suhy who offers, “We experimented with a lot of different writing processes on this record. For this song, I asked Steve to go in the studio and record a drum track that I would then write to. Since Steve was conceptually working off of pentagrams, hexagrams, and heptagrams, I in turn used different combinations of 5, 6, 7, and 8 note scales to contrast different sections. We also enlisted our good friend Emily Grove of Daughter Vision to lay down choir vocals to make the ending as big as possible.”

Honoshowsky adds, “The title is born of the number 158, which was also the tempo that moves the song at the desired pace like, ‘rain that rises with the sun.’ Geometric rhythms and modulating meters comprise the arrangement. The pentagram, hexagram, and heptagram’s relationship to the octagon was the inspiration to pursue what these configured rhythms might sound like when they are played together. What is their shared rhythmic harmony?”

Watch the video below.

Nefarious Industries will release Gematria II: The Spindle Of Necessity on Transparent 8th Sphere Mercurial Orange vinyl and all digital services on September 23. Find pre-orders and merch options at the label webshop, here. Watch for additional videos from the album to be issued over the weeks ahead.

DREAM THEATER Drummer MIKE MANGINI Shares Live "The Alien" Performance Mixed With Original Album Recording (Video)

Dream Theater drummer Mike Mangini has shared a new drum cam video accompanied by the following message:

"These are my live drums for 'The Alien' mixed with the tracks from our last album, A View From The Top Of The World.  Although I was involved with the drum sounds and engineer on AVFTTOTW more than I've ever been to the tune of some years working a lot with Jimmy T., this video is simply my raw tracks bounced out and I panned, EQ'd a bit on the kick and snare and that's about it. No EQ on each tom track, only some on the AUX bussed track. I just wanted to spit this out. Not as sassy as the album sound, but it's raw, it's me both in bending w/feel within the click, dynamics and sound. This is a really challenging song to come out of the gate blaring and playing first. The balance shifts and tightness required are pretty demanding. It is what it is."

In a recent interview with Sarah Hagan, Mangini discusses returning to tour life after the pandemic, his solo album, the process of auditioning for Dream Theater, the band's  recent Grammy win, and his reunion with former Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy.

"We were friends before I got this job. I mean, literally - he's in my place in LA, we're hanging out, he was the one that invited me to all the Dream Theater shows. He was the person I was closest with (in the band). He said all kinds of nice things about me all the time to people in magazines. So, the audition thing happened and he had left, and our relationship kind of just went into a holding pattern. And that was that... whatever that means. It just might have been awkward for him or whatever - I don't know."

Watch: COREY TAYLOR's Son GRIFFIN Joins SLIPKNOT On Stage In Bucharest

SLIPKNOT kicked off its summer 2022 European tour last night (Wednesday, July 20) at Romexpo in Bucharest, Romania. Support on the trek is coming from JINJER and VENDED, the band fronted by Griffin Taylor, son of SLIPKNOT singer Corey Taylor.

Griffin joined his father's band on stage in the Romanian capital to perform "Custer", the third single from SLIPKNOT's fifth studio album, ".5: The Gray Chapter", which came out in 2014. Fan-filmed video of his appearance can be seen below.

In a December 2021 interview with Knotfest's Ryan J. Downey, Griffin was asked if he pays attention to the feedback his Iowa-based metal band has received in the weeks since it released its debut single. He said": "For me, I do see people's responses to it, and I get a lot of great responses, because I love the crowd — I love the fans because they've been there for my dad and they will be there for me and I will not force them to be. But we do get backlash because of the comparison and the similarities [to SLIPKNOT]. But we are different. And there have been times where I've read some hate comments on YouTube and I literally went into the bathtub, filled the bathtub up and just immediately started crying. I was just so fucking in a bad place before we got here. And now I'm in a good place because I'm with my friends."

VENDED's lineup is completed by Simon Crahan (son of SLIPKNOT percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan) on drums and Connor Grodzicki on rhythm guitar.

Formed in February of 2018, VENDED exhibits a furiously heavy sound built upon the foundations laid by the speed, power and precision of the rhythm section, layered with ferocious guitars, soul crushing solos and gutteral-yet-melodic vocals that portray the hardships and the harsh realities of life.

VENDED had its first mainstream exposure in 2020 when its performed as part of Knotfest.com's virtual "Pulse Of The Maggots" festival.

VENDED played its first headlining show in March 2020 at the iconic local club Vaudeville Mews in Des Moines, Iowa.

Griffin, who looks a lot like his father, previously showcased his skills when he joined Corey onstage during STONE SOUR shows in 2017 and 2018. According to The Pulse Of Radio, he's also played cover tunes with Simon Crahan, while Clown's daughter Alexandria Crahan-Conway has snapped some of VENDED's previous press pics.

IN APHELION Unveil "Sorrow, Fire And Hate" Video

Black / death titans In Aphelion have issued the new video "Sorrow, Fire And Hate". The track comes from the band's debut album, Moribund, released in March 2022 by Edged Circle Productions.

With the band gearing up for live action far and wide, the video displays In Aphelion's onstage power and prowess. As the band explains, "The video for 'Sorrow, Fire And Hate' celebrates the manifestation of In Aphelion as a live act - the metamorphosis of a band as recording artists reborn and united with the audience, just like the lyrics of the song are about crossing the rivers of the underworld to wander into the unknown and unite with eternity. The video was filmed by our close friends in the Swedish black metal scene - by the ones that have kept the scene alive during decades, the ones immune against trends. What was captured at our debut gig could never be made with script and professional equipment. The purity of the raw footage was just right for this video."

A veritable treasure trove of Swedish black / death royalty, In Aphelion are a power-trio originally formed in 2020 by longtime Necrophobic guitarist Sebastian Ramstedt on vocals, guitar, and bass with prolific drummer Marco Prij. In 2021, with the advent of their debut demo, fellow Necrophobic guitarist Johan Bergebäck joined, making the unholy trinity complete. An impossibly auspicious first start, In Aphelion's first demo - despite being limited to a mere 50 copies - landed the band a deal with Edged Circle, first resulting in the teaser-length EP Luciferian Age and now a grandiose hour-long debut album, Moribund.

Indeed, while the spectre of classic blackened death metal for which Sweden is known looms large over In Aphelion, it must be stressed that these gentlemen are THE grand architects of that incredibly influential and ever-enduring sound. And not ones to rest on their laurels, with In Aphelion do both Ramstedt and Bergebäck unfurl new vistas of the imagination whilst respectably remaining within that noble tradition. Simply put, this is timeless heavy metal might painted in purple-blue hues but beaming with brilliant colors beyond.

Point proof is In Aphelion's first full-length recording, Moribund. While two tracks - "Luciferian Age" and "Draugr" - were forecasted on the aforementioned Luciferian Age EP, Moribund majestically displays the full bounty of In Aphelion's seemingly infinite powers. Longer, stronger, more deathly, more blackened, more metal, more of literally everything: Moribund is a veritable monolith of awe-inspiring songwriting and impassioned performance. Breathtaking opener "World Serpent (Devourer Of Dreams)" lives up to its namesake - and then some - and duly sets the stage for all that follows for the next 59 minutes. Rise, fall, rise even higher, marching and racing and spiraling and dazzling with every step: In Aphelion exercise a wealth of texture and nuance across these ten tracks, all whilst remaining razor-sharp and as finessed as it comes. It's not hyperbole here to suggest that In Aphelion in general and Moribund in particular handily challenge the sacred tomes of the '90s - again, it must be reiterated that two of those architects are in this band - but the epic-yet-effervescent manner in which this timeless black/death is rendered puts both in rarefied territory, and refreshingly so. And, just like the swift and satisfying Luciferian Age, Moribund is likewise given a grippingly powerful mix and mastering by Unleashed's Frederik Folkare.

Tracklisting:

"World Serpent (Devourer Of Dreams)"
"Draugr"
"Let The Beast Run Wild"
"Luciferian Age"
"This Night Seems Endless"
"He Who Saw The Abyss"
"Moribund"
"The Origin"
"Sorrow, Fire And Hate"
"Requiem"
