Death metal veterans CANNIBAL CORPSE will unleash their sixteenth studio album, "Chaos Horrific", on September 22 via Metal Blade Records.
Since 1988, CANNIBAL CORPSE have been at the forefront of death metal, shaping and defining the genre. In 2021, they raised the stakes again with "Violence Unimagined". And in 2023, the band's thirty-fifth anniversary, they return with its successor, the equally monstrous "Chaos Horrific", starting a new chapter in their storied legacy.
Written shortly after the conclusion of the "Violence Unimagined" sessions, echoes of that album exist in "Chaos Horrific".
"To me, this album feels sort of like a continuation of 'Violence Unimagined'," says bassist Alex Webster.
The bandmembers have always been noted for technicality and complex songwriting, but that doesn't define where the writing process takes them.
"I believe that our songwriting has progressed in a manner where every song paves its own path, whether it's a straightforward or technical song," notes guitarist Rob Barrett. "Sometimes it's a mix of both, so there's no preconceived idea that we want to be more technical. The music just sort of takes its own course."
Webster concurs: "I don't think there was any conscious effort to make things more technical, so if it wound up that way it would just be a natural result of us trying to write the heaviest songs we could."
CANNIBAL CORPSE had no master plan, approaching each track with an open mind.
"I never go into a record thinking about anything, I just let the writing flow freely with no limitations," says guitarist/producer Erik Rutan. "But this time, I knew I wanted to push the envelope a bit in a different direction than 'Violence Unimagined' — expand the dynamics, explore new territory without departing from what CANNIBAL CORPSE is and always shall be."
Rutan has now produced six CANNIBAL CORPSE albums, starting with 2006's "Kill", and this is Rutan's second release as a full-fledged member, since officially joining in 2020. Tracking at Rutan's Mana Studio in Florida, the band's home state, was comfortable for all involved, who were at the top of their game and ready to give it their all. Things went smoother than ever, particularly on the guitar front thanks to Barrett and Rutan having "custom guitars built with longer scale necks to hold the proper intonation necessary for lower tunings," says Barrett.
Drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz named the record and his cohorts felt it was a great representation of the band. Subjects covered include fighting off hordes of zombies ("Chaos Horrific"),the selection of a random individual to be dismembered and sacrificed ("Summoned For Sacrifice"),and the violent revenge of victims of human trafficking ("Vengeful Invasion"). The album artwork by longtime collaborator Vince Locke is also suitably CANNIBAL CORPSE-esque, featuring a chaotic tangle of the living and the undead, evoking the lyrics of the title track.
In advance of the record's release, the band unleashes their first single and accompanying video for "Blood Blind".
Mazurkiewicz says: "'Blood Blind' is about mass mutilations to reset the human race in a genocide that was embraced by the masses." Rutan adds: "'Blood Blind' was the first song musically that I wrote for 'Chaos Horrific'. It all started with that funeral march of a first riff floating around in my head and it took off from there. Heavy and disturbing, it worked its way into an aggressive smorgasbord of depth and swirling darkness! I thought it would be great to collaborate so I had Paul add his lyrical stamp to it…"

Coinciding with the release of "Chaos Horrific", CANNIBAL CORPSE will embark on a month-long North American co-headlining tour with MAYHEM. The journey begins September 22 in Nashville, Tennessee and runs through October 21 in Louisville, Kentucky. Support will be provided by special guests GORGUTS and BLOOD INCANTATION. Coheed And Cambria have launched their music video for the song “Ladders Of Supremacy". The song is a progressive powerhouse and fan favourite from the band’s most recent album, Vaxis - Act II: A Window of the Waking Mind.
The video is directed by Darin Vartanian, AKA Pixelface, who explains that “the animation seeks to interpret chapter 8 of Vaxis 2 in a collage of high-fidelity 3D scenes, employing the subjective perspectives of each character's mind's eye. In this frozen moment in time, the characters bear witness to a comprehensive array of past and future events, intricately woven into the very fabric of their most crucial decisions.”
The band are fresh off their rammed tent performance at Download and their sold out shows in London and Glasgow performing “Neverender: NWFTWM", which sees the band performing their entire 4th album, No World For Tomorrow, and several selections from Vaxis including “Ladders Of Supremacy.”

Fireborn have released a video for “You Seem So Far”, featured on their just-released Reflections album. Watch the clip below.
Fronted by powerhouse singer Jenny, and rounded out by Dennis, Raphael, Flo and Chris, German metal/rock act Fireborn produce unique and timeless music with strong passion, expressive vocals, and defining hooks. Despite her young age, the petite singer stands out with her hard to delicate voice, extensive vocal range, and incredible sovereignty. In 2019, Fireborn (still named Dislike Silence) played in the finals of the 37th German Rock and Pop Awards and took third place in the “Rock” category.
In winter 2021 the band visited the Little Creek Studio in Gelterkinden, Switzerland where the first album Reflections was recorded with producer Schmier (Destruction) and sound engineer V.O. Pulver (Destruction, Pro-Pain Burning Witches, The Order, Nervosa).
Schmier states, “There’s gotta be something special to arouse my interest as a music fan and as a composer and performer, something that touches my soul and gives me the chills. This really happened the first time I heard Jenny from Fireborn sing. They caught my full attention and as the band is from around my area, I offered to help with the production of their 1st album and that made me a fan, cause I’m a fan of timelessly good rock music! They play modern classic rock with a golden raspy female voice that is powerful and at the same time very fragile but always melodic and catchy. Fireborn are fresh and yet traditional. The terrific artwork was done by the Hungarian art-wizard Gyula (Accept, Stratovarius, Wintersun, Burning Witches) and melts perfectly with the soundscapes on our first record: powerful, vibrant, atmospheric and diverse! Brazilian band, X-Empire, have launched their brand new music video for "Let It Die" (Acoustic), featuring a guest appearance by British singer Chris Clancy from the American band, Mutiny Within. Watch below.
The quintet currently formed by Michel Villares (vocals/production), André Marques and Ricky Franco (guitars), Émerson Soares (bass) and André Luis (drums) once again prove that there are no boundaries within contemporary metal, and those who do not try new challenges tend to dangerously stagnate in the molds of how music is consumed today.
The original electric version of "Let It Die" was previously released on the praised 2017 album "Grief", also with the participation of Chris Clancy, but in this new version the band brought more commercial arrangements, synthesizers, approach and accents created by the current guitar duo André Marques and Ricky Franco.
"Let It Die (Acoustic)" is the second song taken from "Revised & Acoustic", the upcoming EP that the band intends to release soon containing only new versions and acoustic arrangements for songs from throughout their career. The first single from this work was "Paralyzed (Acoustic)", released late last year.
After that, the group will dedicate themselves to another EP, totally electric and unreleased, already titled "Catharsis", and expected to be released later this year.
With 400,000+ streams worldwide, Nine Left Dead returns with “Blaming Us”, the second single off their forthcoming EP, Love After Death. A gripping tale about picking up the pieces of a broken heart and trying to move forward. This stripped down rock ballad was recorded in Nashville, TN at East Iris Studios (formerly the House of Blues Studio) with multi-platinum producer Malcolm Springer (Collective Soul, Matchbox 20).
"'Blaming Us' is a love ballad story about a broken relationship after pouring everything into each other and still feeling like you failed. It's a beautifully dark story and this version of the song is stripped down to piano and strings," says the band.
Nine Left Dead recently made the trip to Nashville, Tennessee to record their Love After Death EP with multi-platinum producer Malcolm Springer at East Iris Studios. The full EP will be available July 21.
Nine Left Dead is a rock band formed in the small town of Amber, Oklahoma that began as a coping mechanism for lead singer Travis Jones through his battle of leukemia. Writing music about the stories of life, love, loss, and all the beautifully tragic and romantic pieces became his escape.
After pairing up with like minded musician and friend Steven Jones, the duo put together a band that thrived in Oklahoma City and surrounding areas. They went on to win a battle of the bands that would put them on a path to work with multi platinum artist Cody Hanson of Hinder with whom they recorded their first major album with over 400,000 plus streams , The Wrong Things.
This led to them playing with bands such as Hinder, Pop Evil, Papa Roach, Halestorm, Seether, Three Days Grace, Puddle of Mudd, Candlebox, Scotty Austin and more.

The title of Black Magic Six’s upcoming album, Black Cloud Descending, really sums up the mood and thoughts of its creators during the album making process. It tells stories of constant escaping, accepting defeat, destinies of outcasts, failures, and drunks. Tales of the wiser, exaggerated lies, vague rumours, fuzzy states of mind and suspicious circumstances - even the thought in the back of your head about the possibility of redemption while standing on the edge of the cliff right before falling in; it’s all there.
Second single from the upcoming fifth album is the title track, "Black Cloud Descending". The name of the song was taken from a comment the Asheton brothers’ sister Katy said, when guitarist James Williamson joined The Stooges. Other than that, the new single has nothing to do with this.
The short movie written by the band and director Juho Karhu tells a story about the bad times ahead and how to prepare for overcoming them - no matter how much effort and resources it may take. It’s a story about friendship and that it’s the journey that matters, not the destination. Check out the video below.
Black Cloud Descending is out on September 1 on vinyl, CD and digital platforms. The album was produced, recorded, and mixed by Mitro Kylliäinen at Kung Fu Audio along with BM6 during 2022-2023. Original art used for the album cover was made by Greger Grönholm.

Halestorm recently announced their return to Europe this winter for their biggest headline shows to date.
The first and only UK date announced for their winter 2023 trek will take place at London's OVO Arena Wembley on Saturday, December 9th.
Special guests will be none other than charismatic rock act Black Veil Brides. An additional support is still to be announced.
Frontwoman Lzzy Hale comments: "We are so excited to be back across the pond where the rock n roll lifers are! There is no way around the most successful German band in modern heavy metal. Only a few days before the release of the special album Interludium on April 7, and shortly after the overwhelming first North American tour in the band's history, Powerwolf announced four shows in Germany from October 31 to November 5.
The holy heavy metal mass will be brought to Düsseldorf, Ravensburg, Bamberg and Leipzig. The wolves will get support from special guests Lord Of The Lost, Beyond The Black And Serenity.

For the Graspop Metal Meeting performance, MACHINE HEAD was rejoined by Polish guitarist Wacław "Vogg" Kiełtyka (DECAPITATED). Vogg missed MACHINE HEAD's appearance at the Milwaukee Metal Fest last month and was replaced by HAVOK's Reece Alan Scruggs. Scruggs previously played with MACHINE HEAD on the "Electric Happy Hour (Live)" fall 2022 tour. Reece was filling in for Vogg (DECAPITATED),who was unable to make the fall 2022 trek due to his touring commitments with his longtime band DECAPITATED.
In April, MACHINE HEAD canceled its previously announced spring 2023 U.S. tour "due to work visa issues," explaining that "half the band, as well as a handful of key crew members, reside outside of the U.S."
The 18-date "The Electric Happy Hour (Live)" trek was scheduled to kick off on May 15 in Ventura, California and make its way to Des Moines, Fort Wayne, and Detroit before ending in Los Angeles on June 9.
MACHINE HEAD has been touring in support of its latest album, "Of Kingdom And Crown", which came out last August. The follow-up to 2018's "Catharsis" includes the three songs that were featured on the 2021 "Arrows In Words From The Sky" single: "Become The Firestorm", "Rotten" and "Arrows In Words From The Sky". Much of the new MACHINE HEAD album was recorded at Sharkbite Studios in Oakland, California with engineer/producer Zack Ohren.
In November 2020, MACHINE HEAD released a single, "My Hands Are Empty", via Nuclear Blast. The song marked the first musical collaboration between Flynn and original "Burn My Eyes" guitarist Logan Mader in 24 years.
"My Hands Are Empty" was just one in a line of singles to be released by MACHINE HEAD, which issued "Do Or Die" in October 2019, "Circle The Drain" in February 2020, and the two-song digital single "Civil Unrest", consisting of "Stop The Bleeding" and "Bulletproof", in June 2020. "Stop The Bleeding" featured guest vocals from KILLSWITCH ENGAGE frontman Jesse Leach, and was written and recorded just days after the murders of George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery.
