Boston's PISTACIA Announces US East Coast Dates, Releases “It Was The Cat” Music Video

Boston’s Pistacia will be hitting the road in October for tour dates across the American East Coast (dates listed below). The show dates will be in support of the band's forthcoming debut EP, Edgy due out on October 21. The first single, “It Was The Cat”, can be heard via its music video below.

Tour dates:

October
15 - Portland, ME - Apohadion Theater
20 - Sovereign - Brooklyn, NY
22 - Starlite - Southbridge, MA
26 - Millhill Basement - Trenton, MA

November
12 - Providence, RI - The Alchemy

Bringing forth a new brand of metalcore with their debut EP Edgy, Pistacia confronts relatable issues set to emotional and powerful music through personal and poignant lyrics. Making music for people who are scared and voiceless is their passion and they are not afraid to get specific about what happens in the mind of the mentally ill. With their “It Was The Cat”, they offer hope and understanding and a flashback to the days when people used the explanation that “the cat did it” in reference to marks on their arms.

The band explains the creation of the single: “The single began almost accidentally; Ben and Théo were in Florida on tour with their former band, exhausted from the road and performance, and aching to write some new music that would reflect the artistic changes they’d undergone as a result. Ben cracked away at that which he does best: writing filthy hardcore riffs and Théo took initiative to make as poppy a chorus arrangement as possible. Years later, the track was revived and Vic worked her magic, pouring her anguish and rage into finely tuned stanzas that packed punch. They entered a Berklee rehearsal room with sketches, with the makings of a metal banger, and left with the instantiation of their ardor”.

Pistacia formed when vocalist Vic Gregg desired to be on stage instead of behind the merch booth. Fueled by passion and a desire to realize her high school dreams, she learned how to scream and put the lineup together with her classmates. They started as a Pierce the Veil ensemble but later began writing originals. To date, they have released five stand-alone singles, and are gearing up to release their EP in the fall. They promise that each of the tracks on it are full-fledged bangers that will provoke and challenge the listener.

Pistacia is recommended for fans of Pierce The Veil, Slipknot, and Bring Me The Horizon. Their Edgy EP is due out on October 21.

Extreme metal outfit, Obsidious, will release their new album, Iconic, on October 28 via Season Of Mist. Pre-order the album here, and watch a video for the song, "Lake Of Afterlife", below:

Obsidious are leading the charge for the modern evolution of progressive and technical metal with their debut album, Iconic. Featuring Linus Klausenitzer (bass), Rafael Trujillo (guitars), Sebastian Lanser (drums), and vocalist Javi Perera (vocals), the band has distinguished and lettered origins in Obscura, Alkaloid, Eternity’s End, and Juggernaut.

Obsidious, however, are a different creature entirely. Iconic is technical but not officious, and the album breathes intensity but expands upon it with mellifluent dexterity. With Obsidious, there’s always a hook: Iconic may build upon a prestigious foundation but its vision isn’t restricted to its tenets.

BOREALIS Shares Epic Music Video For New Single "Ashes Turn To Rain"

October 7, 2022 will see Canadian melodic metal act, BOREALIS, return with their fifth studio album, entitled “Illusions”, on AFM Records. With their critically acclaimed debut in 2008, BOREALIS took the heavy music scene by storm, and seen them opening for several metal greats such as Epica, Sonata Artica, Saxon or Kamelot to name just a few.

Now, four years since 2018’s “The Offering”, Illusions arguably marks the bands most complete album to date while adding more orchestral elements and darker themes. The album not only introduces composer and multi-instrumentalist Vikram Shankar (Silent Skies, Redemption, Lux Terminus), who was brought in to compose all of the orchestra and synth elements, but the record is also a continuation of the story from “The Offering”, taking place years later through the eyes of the children and how the traumatic events they experienced has shaped their lives.

Following the previously-released, first single, "Pray For Water", BOREALIS have just shared a second album sneak peak, with a colossal music video for new track "Ashes Turn To Rain"!

"It's only taken us 15 years, but we're finally releasing our first official music video for our next single off of 'Illusions' called Ashes Turn To Rain," says guitarist Ken Fobert. "Being our first video, we wanted to do something a little special for it. It's not only a band-performance video for Ashes Turn To Rain, with the help of our director, Jeremy Tredenick (JReelVisuals), we also incorporated a storyline and visuals to accompany the self-titled opening track for the album. The video features Scandinavian film composer and vocalist, Christine Hals, who not only contributed her unique primal scream vocals but a stunning mountaintop performance as well. Ya! It's pretty epic and we can't wait for everyone to see it!"

“We are so excited to release this new record, considering how long it’s been and what the world has been through over the last 2 years!“ Marinelli said recently. “With the extra time we had with this one, we feel like these are some of the best songs we’ve ever written. Some of the songs were written way back in 2019 so we’ve had time to really perfect them.”

“Illusions” was produced by BOREALIS, engineered and mixed by the band‘s drummer, Sean Dowell, and was mastered by Thomas “Plec “ Johansson.

Boston Hard Rockers LANSDOWNE Release Official Music Video For New Single "Medicine"

In their 15+ years as a band, they have achieved two billboard charting radio singles, over 100 million streams and views, and have licensed songs to major brands such as iRobot, the NFL, MTV, and more. Comprised of Jon Ricci (Vocals), Shaun Lichtenstein (Lead Guitar / Vocals), Glenn Mungo (Drums), Josh Waterman (Guitar / Vocals), and Mike LaRoche (Bass), LANSDOWNE has been a force to be reckoned with since emerging into the music scene in 2006.

Following their signing with AFM Records and the release of a lyric video for their mega hit "Burn Brighther" (with more than 11 million streams on Spotify alone) in mid-2022, just recently, the Boston-based hard rock act has unleashed their brand new single, the heavy rock juggernaut "Medicine". Today, they are premiering an official music video of the song:

"The Medicine music video is an introduction to the dystopian fantasy universe that we’re creating. The world is in trouble, consumed by negativity and cancel culture, it’s become this plague that we have to come together to fight through and rise above. So in the video, you see an uprising against all of the hate and bullshit that’s permeated our daily lives. You can feel the aggression and frustration in the words and in the scenes from the video. We’ve been held down and held back for far too long by negativity, and the lyric rings true for so many of us: “We’re fucking over it.” The band states.

"Ben Proulx did an incredible job of capturing our vision of a world that’s sick of all the negativity and a culture that’s ready to rise up and come together to fight back against all the bullshit. Breaking free from the plague of cancel culture and using our voices for togetherness and positivity, that’s what this video is about."

See Norways's GOTHMINISTER Awake Your "Demons" In Brand New Music Video

With his captivating debut ‘Gothic Electronic Anthems’ in 2003, Gothminister Bjørn Alexander Brem took the dark music scene by storm, unleashing a thunder of pitch-black magic. Powerful metal riffs march relentlessly arm in arm with huge orchestras and heavenly choirs, while the master himself reveals an astonishing range of vocal art: from the deepest gothic-dungeons up to the higher spheres of steaming rock. It’s the overwhelming combination of catchiness and darkness; a thrilling craft of composing within the marrow of gothic, industrial-metal and electronica, that became Gothminister’s trademarks ever since.

On October 21, 2022 Gothminister will release their new album, entitled "Pandemonium", via AFM Records. Following previously-released singles, "This Is Your Darkness" and the haunting album title track, today the goth and industrial metal ministers have premiered a brand new video to awake your "Demons"!

"This brand new single «Demons» has a mixture of some well-known Gothminister-elements like heavy guitars, a driving rythm, growling melodic vocals and even an strange opera-lady singing," band mastermind Bjørn Alexander Brem comments. "When I wrote this song, I pictured a weird, dark club, a dancefloor taking off, lots of freaks on it, and the main character in this setting drinking in the bar while being chased by his inner demons - evil creatures litterally coming out of his head."

The trilogy comes to a temporary end with Gothminister ’s third music video "Demons", as Brem explains: "In «Pandemonium» we saw the fall of the evil king and his city, and that a new king was born. «This is your darkness» seen Gothminister scouting from his watchtower while the army of dead was searching for new souls to conquer. In «Demons», we go back in time, and discover that also the evil king in «Pandemonium» had a past himself as a normal man where he is challenging the cruel magic of his precessor.

However, you should be careful fighting someone else’s demons - it may awaken your own…"

Watch: MEGADETH Performs 'Soldier On!' Live In Burgettstown

MEGADETH performed the song "Soldier On!" live for the first time this past Tuesday (September 20) during the band's concert in Syracuse, New York. The Dave Mustaine-fronted outfit played the track again the following night (Wednesday, September 21) at The Pavilion at Star Lake in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania. Video of that rendition can be seen below.

"Soldier On!" is taken from MEGADETH's sixteenth studio album, "The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!", which arrived on September 2 via UMe.

Mustaine previously stated about the lyrical inspiration for "Soldier On!": "Coming to the realization that you need to walk away from a relationship that's very toxic, and how hard it can be to start down that road. But you know you need to, and just taking that first step is the hardest part. Whatever your leaving does to them, you have to block that part out, stay the course and do what's right for you. It will be hard in the beginning, but you have got to live for yourself to be worth a damn to anyone else. You've got to soldier on."

According to Billboard, "The Sick, The Dying... And The Dead!" sold 48,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in its first week of release to land at position No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart. It marked MEGADETH's eighth top 10-charting album. Of "The Sick, The Dying... And The Dead!"'s 48,000 units earned for the week, album sales comprise 45,000, SEA units comprise 3,000 and TEA units comprise a neglible sum.

MEGADETH's previous top 10 entries on the Billboard 200 were "Countdown to Extinction" (No. 2, 1992),"Youthanasia" (No. 4, 1994),"Cryptic Writings" (No. 10, 1997),"United Abominations" (No. 8, 2007),"Endgame" (No. 9, 2009),"Super Collider" (No. 6, 2013) and "Dystopia" (No. 3, 2016).

"The Sick, The Dying... And The Dead!" consolidates a furious return to form that began with the Grammy-winning "Dystopia", while pushing forward musically and marking Mustaine's recent triumph over throat cancer. Reuniting Dave with co-producer Chris Rakestraw (DANZIG, PARKWAY DRIVE),who together helmed 2016's "Dystopia", the album was recorded at Mustaine's home studio in Nashville, Tennessee, with guitarist Kiko Loureiro and drummer Dirk Verbeuren. Bassist Steve DiGiorgio temporarily stepped in to record the album. With the kick-off of MEGADETH's recent tour, MEGADETH alumnus James LoMenzo rejoined the MEGADETH family as permanent bass player.

NIGHTED To Release Debut Album In October; "Sigil" Music Video Streaming

Does black metal mix with 70s-era synth sounds à la Blade Runner and Jean-Michel Jarre? That's the question Ivo Henzi (vocals & guitars; ex-Eluveitie, Cellar Darling, Forest Of Fog) and Marc Petralito (synths; Appearance Of Nothing) asked themselves during a late and misty summer night in the enforced isolation of lockdown in 2020.

The resulting proof-of-concept is the band's debut album, Absence, set for release on October 21 via Klang Machine Records. Absence is an introspective journey rising from the soul's abysses to the universe's endless expanses, where fierce and aggressive sounds meet anthemic, epic landscapes. Guitar riffs rooted in modern black metal meet analogue synthesisers and Hammond organ evoking the sound of the 70s and 80s, creating a unique and compelling take on extreme music.

Today, Nighted release a video for "Sigil", accompanied by a video produced and filmed by the band themselves in the magical landscape of the Swiss mountains. Check out the video below.

Vocalist & guitarist Ivo Henzi comments: "'Sigil' is about setting ourselves free from the crippling boundaries we create for ourselves during the course of our lives. It's about reflecting yourself in your interactions with the world - a process that can be painful."

Both album and single were recorded and mixed by Anna Murphy (Cellar Darling, Eluveitie & many more) at Lucerne's Sound Farm Studio with drums performed by session drummer Dylan Watson (Kassogtha) and mastering by Dan Suter (Coroner, Eluveitie, Krokus & many more). Nighted are signed to the newly-formed heavy music label Klang Machine Records, co-founded by drummer and artist manager Merlin Sutter, himself known from his careers with Cellar Darling and Eluveitie.

Absence will be released in digital format and is available for pre-orders via Nighted's Bandcamp, here.

The Overcoming Project will release the new single, “Victory”, via all platforms on Friday (September 23). A video for the song can be viewed below.

Dr. Mike Trubetskov explains: “'Victory' denotes a psychedelic event that was required to secure a permanent visa in Australia - and any success in general. The choice to move forward or stagnate is yours."

“Victory”, featuring world class metal musicians such as Mike Heller of Fear Factory, Jon Howard of Threat Signal, and Sergei "Efes" Fomin of FS Projekt, is the third single from the upcoming Overcoming EP, which can be pre-saved here.

Overcoming EP depicts a psychedelic journey through immigration, Doctorate degree, Type I Diabetes and insane burnout into discovering the true purpose and becoming a metal producer.

"Determination,"  "Overcoming," and "Victory" are more than just heavy songs with killer musicianship. These grow into eternal, psychedelic objects that keep evolving into new dimensions after each listen.

CITY OF CATERPILLAR Debut "Paranormaladies" Video

City Of Caterpillar return with their first new album in 20 years, Mystic Sisters, out September 30 on Relapse Records. Today, the band share the “Paranormaladies” studio video, directed by Reid Haithcock.

Says the band: "The version of 'Paranormaladies' on the record is the demo version then remixed by Jack Shirely. Other than that, it is untouched from the original demo. Same recording, same takes recorded entirely by us at our former “Roach Floor” practice space. We did attempt to re-record the song when we went into Montrose Studios. We tried giving it all the overdubs, all the treatments, but there was something special and hard to place about the demo version. It was something we were always chasing and could not replicate.”

Watch below:

Pre-save Mystic Sisters here. Mystic Sisters pre-orders are available now on LP/CD/CS, here.

Tracked primarily at Montrose Recording in Richmond, Mystic Sisters was self-produced by the band and then mixed and mastered by Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Bosse-de-Nage).

Additionally, City Of Caterpillar have announced the Mystic Sisters tour for this fall around their appearance at The Fest.

When guitarist/vocalist Brandon Evans, guitarist Jeff Kane, drummer Ryan Parrish and bassist/vocalist Kevin Longendyke unveiled their self-titled debut in 2002, their emotional, frenzied and often cinematic music was at the vanguard of the burgeoning screamo movement. Along with bands like Pg.99 (with whom they shared members), Majority Rule, Planes Mistaken For Stars and others, they helped develop a style of music that took hardcore into convulsive new territory.

After years spent living in other parts of the country and playing in other bands—including Darkest Hour, Malady and Ghastly City Sleep, the long awaited City Of Caterpillar reunion shows snowballed into writing sessions. The result - Mystic Sisters, an album that recaptures the magic of old while taking the band’s music into exciting new territory! The winding and atmospheric title track that embodies City Of Caterpillar's experimental side features some noise violin from Evans’ former Pg. 99 bandmate Johnny Ward, while tracks like "Decider" and "Paranormaladies" showcases the band's roots with a flurry of viceral, noisey hardcore swagger.

Ultimately, City Of Caterpillar are more concerned with creating a mood than telling a story. “The band is always focused on mood,” Evans confirms. “To me, that’s the most important thing. I don’t really want people dissecting what we’re trying to say, because it’s not really about us. It never has been. What we cared about 20 years ago was innocent, raw emotion, and that’s what we care about now.”

Tracklisting:

“Thought Drunk”
“Paranormaladies”

VENDED Feat. COREY TAYLOR's And SHAWN CRAHAN's Sons: 'Ded To Me' Music Video Released

VENDED, the band fronted by Griffin Taylor, the son of SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR singer Corey Taylor, has released the official music video for its latest single, "Ded To Me". The performance footage in the clip was filmed during VENDED's summer 2022 tour.

VENDED previously stated about the track: "This song is unforgiving and uncompromising. We are back and better than ever. This is a straight fuck you!"

This past July, the five-piece — which also includes Simon Crahan (drums; son of SLIPKNOT percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan) and Jeremiah Pugh (bass),Cole Espeland (lead guitar) and Connor Grodzicki (rhythm guitar) — crossed the pond to Europe for its first shows on the continent.

Late last year, VENDED dropped a duo of singles ("Asylum" and "Burn My Misery") ahead of its five-track debut EP, "What Is It / Kill It", which arrived at DSPs in November. The acclaimed collection was recorded with Griffin Landa of THE ACACIA STRAIN. The two singles bookended VENDED's first U.S. headline tour, after which the band went on to open the day's proceedings at the huge Knotfest Los Angeles show at the Banc Of California Stadium, playing alongside SLIPKNOT, BRING ME THE HORIZON, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, FEVER 333, CODE ORANGE and CHERRY BOMBS.

VENDED's fresh and unique sound heralds in a new era and the arrival of the next generation of brutality to hail from Des Moines, Iowa. Formed in February of 2018, VENDED exhibits a furiously heavy sound built upon the foundations laid by the speed, power and precision of the rhythm section, layered with ferocious guitars, soul crushing solos and gutteral-yet-melodic vocals that portray the hardships and the harsh realities of life.

VENDED had its first mainstream exposure in 2020 when they performed as part of Knotfest.com's virtual "Pulse Of The Maggots" festival.

VENDED played its first headlining show in March 2020 at the iconic local club Vaudeville Mews in Des Moines, Iowa.

Griffin, who looks a lot like his father, previously showcased his skills when he joined Corey onstage during STONE SOUR shows in 2017 and 2018. According to The Pulse Of Radio, he's also played cover tunes with Simon Crahan, while Clown's daughter Alexandria Crahan-Conway has snapped some of VENDED's previous press pics.

BLOODY HAMMERS To Release Washed In The Blood Album In October; "Phantasmagoria" Music Video Streaming

From high in the mountains of Transylvania County, NC, October 14 will see horror rockers Bloody Hammers release their sixth studio album, Washed In The Blood, via their own label Sacrificial Records.

The husband/wife duo has not only hit their 10th band anniversary more ambitiously and stronger than ever, but with their forthcoming record, they've created a highly melodic, yet epically heavy masterpiece that perpetuates their authentic sound: melodic menacing vocals, horror drenched lyrics, haunting choirs and heavy metal riffs.

Today, Bloody Hammers is sharing their second single and a brand new video for “Phantasmagoria“, following up on their recently unleashed album opening track, “Black Sunday“.

With “Phantasmagoria”, Bloody Hammers successfully builds upon their previous works. Directed and edited by the couple themselves, the ‘Phantasmagoria’ music video pays an imaginative homage to the ‘Phantasmagoria’ shows of the 1800s. With a catchy heavy metal feel and earworm chorus, Bloody Hammers flexes their best songwriting skills. Watch the "Phantasmagoria" music video below.

Having recently parted ways with their label, the band is going full DIY this time. However, for this vinyl release they’ll need your help.

Vocalist/producer Anders Manga states: “It’s nice to be back in control and release whenever we want. We figured this album wouldn’t see the light of day until sometime in late 2023. We feel this is our best album and the way things worked out, we’re now able to release it just in time for the Halloween season, which is our time of year as well as our fans.”

The band also announced their Bandcamp vinyl crowdfunding campaign will launch today.

Keyboard/bassist Devallia states: “We read about Bandcamp announcing their new vinyl service. Now we’re free and excited about giving it a try. They have multiple warehouses around the world so it should save fans who live outside of the US money for shipping. We’re really looking forward to seeing how it goes. Those who want this album on vinyl will be able to pledge multiple levels of support, from just getting their copy of the record, to getting their name in the special thanks liner notes, test pressings and more.”

Pledge your support to the band and make Washed In The Blood on vinyl a reality here.

Grand was formed in 2020 in the southern outskirts of Stockholm, Sweden. Vocalist Mattias Olofsson had always nurtured a dream of releasing his own AOR project one day. Working for almost two decades as a professional singer and songwriter, he kept experimenting with ideas and writing songs, just waiting for the right moment. In the fall of 2020, the stars finally aligned, when he came to know two fellow musicians who shared his passion for the AOR genre: guitarist and producer Jakob Svensson (Wigelius) and drummer Anton Martinez Matz. The trio joined forces soon after and Grand became a reality.

Through a combination of old and new ideas, all with influences from their favorite bands such as Starship, Foreigner, Mr. Big, Giant, and the like, four songs were finalized that the band felt best represented who they wanted to be. They started to send the songs to different labels and in 2021, they signed with Frontiers Music Srl.

Grand continues a long tradition of spectacular AOR bands emerging from Sweden. Lovers of all things melodic rock will surely need to add "Grand" to their must-listen list for 2022.
