SEVENTH WONDER Release Official Music Video For "The Light"

Frontiers Music Srl will release Swedish progressive metal masters Seventh Wonder's new studio album, The Testament, on June 10. Watch a video  for "The Light" below, and pre-order/save The Testament here.

The Testament follows 2018's Tiara, which, at the time, was the band's first new music in eight years. While the wait between albums was, mercifully, shorter this time around, the band certainly did not need any extra time to craft a stunning album showcasing their prolific instrumental skills and intricate songwriting. Indeed, The Testament is a high watermark in the band's already revered discography.

Seventh Wonder was formed in 2000 by bassist Andreas Blomqvist, guitarist Johan Liefvendahl, and drummer Johnny Sandin after their previous band fell apart. The music they were writing and playing turned towards progressive metal. When keyboardist Andreas “Kyrt” Söderin joined in late 2000, their new sonic explorations were only cemented further. Two demos were recorded (2001 & 2003) and the latter caught the attention of the label Lion Music, who signed the band in 2004. That collaboration spawned the first Seventh Wonder album, Become, which was released in June 2005. Become was well received by progressive metal fans and media alike; however, the band and singer Andi Kravljaca decided to part ways shortly after the recording process had ended. Enter the brilliant Tommy Karevik (Kamelot, ex-Vindictiv), who joined the band in 2005, actually prior to the official release of Become.

The next album, Waiting In The Wings was recorded in 2006 and mixed and mastered by legendary Tommy Hansen. This album was a huge leap forward in terms of song complexity and maturity and received outstanding reviews and fan accolades, establishing Seventh Wonder as a force to be reckoned with in the progressive metal world. 2007 was spent playing live in support of the album, including sharing stage with legendary bands such as Queensrÿche, Testament, Redemption, and many others in England, Holland, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark.

Simultaneously in 2007, a follow-up to Waiting In The Wings was written. The band hit the studio in May of 2008 to record their third full-length, Mercy Falls, which was hailed as a true masterpiece at the time of its release. Mercy Falls was supported with several live shows in Europe, including Italy, Norway, Finland, and Holland.

In 2010, the band released The Great Escape, which again was met with critical and fan acclaim and cemented the band's standing as one of the premiere progressive metal bands in existence. In support, the band again toured in Europe and also appeared live in the USA at ProgPower Festival.

After The Great Escape album release, drummer Johnny Sandin left the band and would later be replaced by the incredibly talented Stefan Norgren (ex-Lion´s Share). Seventh Wonder fans collectively lost their minds in 2018 when it was announced that after an agonizing eight year wait, the band's latest studio album "Tiara" would be released. "Tiara" once again continued the band's winning streak of crafting progressive metal masterpieces and was greeted with high levels of enthusiasm.

Now, in 2022, the band one again returns with another magnum opus of a progressive metal album, The Testament.

SUICIDE SILENCE Releases New Single 'Thinking In Tongues'

California deathcore act SUICIDE SILENCE has released a new song, "Thinking In Tongues". The song is currently available on all digital platforms and the video clip, which was directed by Vicente Cordero for Industrialism Films, will premiere today at 7 p.m. CET / 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT.

SUICIDE SILENCE comments: "This song derives from the chaotic feeling of losing one's mind. Feeling like you're choking on every breath you take until you eventually break. Debilitating confusion sets in and your mind begins 'Thinking In Tongues', essentially processing thoughts that not even you yourself can understand. In a sense, this song evokes the ultimate sense of helplessness."

"Thinking In Tongues" marks SUICIDE SILENCE's final recording with longtime drummer Alex Lopez who exited the band last month. Ernie Iniguez, who recorded drums on SUICIDE SILENCE's "Become The Hunter" album, will be drumming for the group on the upcoming "Chaos & Carnage" tour and European festival run.

In a statement, Alex said: "So I'll make this as short as possible. SUICIDE SILENCE and myself have parted ways. I'll always love them and their families and everything we accomplished together during my time. I wish SS the best. With that said, I'm excited to continue making music and art, and plan to be involved with any projects I find fulfilling. I'd be truly grateful if you continued to follow and support what I do next, It's not over for me by a long shot. Love and thank you to all my fans, friends and supporters, the next chapter begins".

Lopez joined SUICIDE SILENCE in 2006 as the replacement for the band's original drummer Josh Goddard. He has appeared on all six of SUICIDE SILENCE's studio albums, including the group's latest, the aforementioned "Become The Hunter" being the most recent.

SUICIDE SILENCE's debut album, 2007's "The Cleansing", will receive an expanded 15th-anniversary re-release on June 24. "The Cleansing (Ultimate Edition)" will include liner notes by the band as well as extensive bonus material.

With nearly two decades of non-stop touring around the globe, hundreds of thousands of records sold, and cementing themselves as a linchpin band in modern extreme metal, the Riverside, California quintet recently returned to Century Media, the label that released the highly acclaimed albums "The Cleansing", "No Time To Bleed" (2009) and "The Black Crown" (2011).

SUICIDE SILENCE is currently working on material for the follow-up to "Become The Hunter" album, which was released via Nuclear Blast Entertainment. It will be the band's fourth LP with vocalist Hernan "Eddie" Hermida (ex-ALL SHALL PERISH),who joined SUICIDE SILENCE following the passing of frontman Mitch Lucker. The band recently finished an extensive U.S. tour with JINJER and has announced a co-headlining run on the U.S. 2022 "Chaos & Carnage" tour with CARNIFEX, labelmates LORNA SHORE, UPON A BURNING BODY, ANGELMAKER and DISTANT, beginning May 15 and running until June 4.

OBSIDIOUS Feat. Former OBSCURA Members Launch Visualizer Video For New Single "Bound By Fire"

Extreme metal outfit, Obsidious, have released a visualizer video for their new single, "Bound By Fire". Pre-save the single here, and watch the clip below.

"Bound By Fire" will be featured on the band’s upcoming debut album, Iconic, which will be released on October 28 via Season of Mist. Pre-orders for the new album will start soon.

Obsidious comment on the track: "Another song with descriptive lyrics, this time dealing with a subject, unfortunately, on everyone's lips at present: the horrors of wars and armed conflicts. The suffering of innocent people who have little or nothing to do with it, seeing their lives cut short. People who see their comrades die and, in other cases, are even forced to kill people they knew or were friends with just because they were on the opposite side. Killing or dying for something they did not start. One of humanity's most brutal dichotomies."

The band previously released a lyric video for  "Under Black Skies", also featured on the upcoming Iconic album.

assist Sebastian Lanser commented on the track: “'Under Black Skies' turned out to be a very complex and demanding tune involving/incorporating multiple meter changes and metric modulations. Regardless of its complexity it has a lot of catchy moments. Our producer V. Santura once said: '‘Under Black Skies’ sounds like Dimmu Borgir on steroids'.”

Lineup:

Linus Klausenitzer - Bass
Rafael Tujillo - Guitar
Javi Perera - Vocals
Sebastian Lanser - Drums

Watch: SEBASTIAN BACH Sings FRANK SINATRA's Version Of 'Night And Day' At MIKE LOVE JR.'s Birthday Party

Sebastian Bach sang a cover of Frank Sinatra's version of "Night And Day", a popular song by Cole Porter that was written for the 1932 musical "Gay Divorce", at the 40th-birthday party of Mike Love Jr., son of THE BEACH BOYS' Mike Love, at The Golden Tiki in Las Vegas, Nevada.

After Sebastian's wife Suzanne posted video of his rendition, the former SKID ROW singer shared the clip on Twitter and included the following message: "Happy Birthday Mike Love Jr we had an awesome time at your 40th! I've always loved this tune by @franksinatra by way of @U2 . have a great birthday dude".

Last fall, Bach returned to the stage for a tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of SKID ROW's double-platinum, acclaimed album "Slave To The Grind". The trek kicked off on September 25 in Waterloo, New York and wrapped in San Diego, California on December 17.

Back in 2018, Bach told Meltdown of Detroit's WRIF 101.1 FM radio station that he was going to ink a deal with a U.S.-based heavy metal record label that would help him make a "career-defining" new solo album.

Bach hasn't released a full-length disc since "Give 'Em Hell", which came out in 2014. Like its predecessor, 2011's "Kicking & Screaming", the disc was released through Frontiers Music Srl, the Italian label which specializes in what's commonly called AOR, a term that once signified a popular radio format ("album-oriented rock") but nowadays applies to acts whose airplay is marginal.

Bach fronted SKID ROW until 1996, when he was fired. Instead of throwing in the towel, the remaining members took a hiatus and went on to play briefly in a band called OZONE MONDAY. In 1999, SKID ROW reformed and, after a bit of shuffling over the years, featured a lineup consisting of bassist Rachel Bolan and guitarists Dave "Snake" Sabo and Scotti Hill, alongside drummer Rob Hammersmith and singer Johnny Solinger. SKID ROW fired Solinger over the phone in April 2015, a few hours before announcing ex-TNT vocalist Tony Harnell as his replacement. Eight months later, Harnell exited the band and was replaced by South African-born, British-based singer ZP Theart, who previously fronted DRAGONFORCE, TANK and I AM I. Theart was fired from SKID ROW in February and was replaced by Erik Grönwall, who was previously a member of the Swedish hard rock band H.E.A.T.
Happy Birthday Mike Love Jr we had an awesome time at your 40th! I've always loved this tune by @franksinatra by way of @U2 have a great birthday dude✌️ https://t.co/9hJgOqzTul

AXL ROSE Joins CARRIE UNDERWOOD To Perform Two GUNS N' ROSES Classics At STAGECOACH Country Music Festival

GUNS N' ROSES singer Axl Rose joined county-pop superstar Carrie Underwood on stage Saturday night (April 30) at the Stagecoach country music festival in Indio, California to perform his band's classic songs "Sweet Child O' Mine" and "Paradise City".

Carrie performed the opening verse and chorus of "Sweet Child O' Mine" with her band before telling the crowd: "Welcome to the greatest night of my life. Give it up for Axl Rose!" They then immediately launched into "Paradise City", with Underwood telling the audience: "You thought we were finished?"

Back in 2015, Underwood told E! in an interview with she really wanted to sing with Rose at some point in her life. She said: "I've covered enough GUNS N' ROSES stuff, and it was people like him who taught me how to sing."

"I look at people like him and Freddie Mercury, those people who were doing all these crazy runs. It was so different," Underwood added.

In 2013, Underwood delivered a faithful cover of "Paradise City" at the CMA Music Festival in Nashville.

Two years ago, while promoting her book "Find Your Path: Honor Your Body, Fuel Your Soul, And Get Strong With The Fit 52 Life", Underwood appeared on an episode of "The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon" and talked about flying to Las Vegas to see her favorite band GUNS N' ROSES and called it "one of the best nights" of her life.

"We were nowhere near Las Vegas, so naturally I said, 'Let's go to Las Vegas with the band and go see GN'R play,'" Underwood shared with Fallon. "It's kind of a life-long dream of mine I never thought would happen. Couldn't waste that opportunity, so I abandoned my husband, abandoned my children, went to Vegas, and saw GUNS N' ROSES. Amazing."

She continued: "Usually, when I go to concerts, I'm like, in a box on the side, which is great — it has its perks, there's usually a bathroom in there, it's kind of awesome,' she explained. "But you miss the energy of the crowd. Because we were in Vegas, we were just in there with everyone else, it was absolutely incredible. You could feel everybody, everybody was screamin', I was screamin' — I was, like, 'I'm never gonna see none of these people ever again, I'm gonna act like a fool!. It was amazing."

Following that show, Underwood actually met Rose backstage. "It's hard to meet your heroes, because I do consider him someone who taught me how to sing," she said. "But he was super cool and great and nice and we talked. We're best friends."

Carrie said in a 2014 interview that late QUEEN frontman Freddie Mercury was high on her list of first loves.

"I've always been a huge fan and lover of Freddie Mercury," she said. "I would listen to him when I was a kid. He could do so many amazing things with his voice. People like that — who had incredible voices — I was always drawn to. I would want to try to do what they do. They were my teachers."

She also said that if you scrolled through her iPod, you’d find some really hard rock music, like MUDVAYNE.

"When I work out, I like to listen to things that are really angry," she said. "I couldn't do it on a daily basis or driving in my car. I think that would be kind of weird."

Watch: SEETHER Performs FLYLEAF's 'I'm So Sick' With LACEY STURM In Pennsylvania

SEETHER was joined by former FLYLEAF singer Lacey Sturm last night (Saturday, April 30) during the band's concert at Santander Arena & Performing Arts Center to perform the FLYLEAF song "I'm So Sick". Fan-filmed video of her appearance can be seen below.

Prior to launching into the track, SEETHER frontman Shaun Morgan told the crowd: "We've known this person for a very long time. She's one of my favorite singers of all time. So we said, 'Hey, let's do this one song that you used to do.' And she's gonna play it with us tonight. I may screw it up, 'cause it's always on me if something goes wrong. But please make some noise for Lacey Sturm."

Sturm left FLYLEAF in October 2012. She was replaced by Kristen May, who recorded one album with the group, 2014's "Between The Stars", before exiting.

Lacey opened up about her reasons for her departure from FLYLEAF in a video promoting her 2014 memoir "The Reason: How I Discovered A Life Worth Living". At the time, she said: "We were on our second album when I got married. And the album was called 'Memento Mori'. And 'memento mori' means remember you're mortal, remember that you'll die and remember that your life is short and precious and so are the lives of those around you.

"For two years, I toured with my husband and it was really amazing, and then after those two years, we ended up getting pregnant with my son," she continued. "And I recognized that my priorities were gonna change even more and that message of 'memento mori' and remembering how short your life is was really weighing on my heart.

"We toured for ten years. I mean, we weren't home for more than a month, probably, a year. So, for me, I just felt really blessed to be pregnant and to be in a place where I could stay home if I wanted to, and really ask that question: how is this gonna change my priorities? How is this gonna look? We had a few things happen that really brought that message home, but the one that hit the hardest was the death of our sound engineer [Rich Caldwell]. We did one last show with FLYLEAF as a benefit for his wife Katy and their son Kirby. And it was really hard to do a show without him, and it was really hard to think it could be our last show. So I remember looking at my son after Rich had passed and just wondering to myself, if this was the last year I had with my son, how would I spend it?

"It was really amazing to recognize this season changing in my life and the freedom that I was gonna be able to focus on my family. And I'm so thankful for that time. And although it was really hard, I'm thankful. And that's the reason I stepped down from FLYLEAF."

Last December, Sturm released the official music video for her latest single, "Awaken Love". The track followed the previously released "The Decree" and "State Of Me".

Performing live with SKILLET before the pandemic shut down arena tours, Lacey has since been writing new music and finding creative ways to connect with fans. Singing on BREAKING BENJAMIN's 2020 single "Dear Agony (Aurora Version)", which peaked at No. 13 on the Billboard 200 after 20 weeks on the chart while racking up well over 16 million views on YouTube alone, Lacey has also performed with SHINEDOWN and others on drive-in theater stages and has hit virtual stages along with METALLICA, THREE DAYS GRACE, SEETHER and others during the Recording Academy-sponsored Octane Home Invasion festival.

Watch: Ex-SEPULTURA Drummer IGOR CAVALERA Joins DISCHARGE On Stage In London

Former SEPULTURA drummer Igor "Iggor" Cavalera joined U.K. hardcore punk legends DISCHARGE on stage this past Thursday, April 28 at New Cross Inn in London to perform the classic DISCHARGE song "Protest And Survive". Video of his appearance can be seen below.

Igor and his brother, ex-SEPULTURA frontman Max Cavalera, previously performed "Protest And Survive" and "Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing" with members of DISCHARGE back in December 2019 at 02 Academy in Birmingham, England.

Six years ago, Max stated about how he first discovered DISCHARGE's music: "There was a time in Brazil around '82, I believe — '82 or '83 — we used to go to this place called Woodstock Records. And we didn't have money for imported records, so we'd buy cassettes. And I just remember the guy from the store recommended that one side of the cassette I should the DISCHARGE 'Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing' album. And the other side was HELLHAMMER 'Apocalyptic Raids'. So I just bought that cassette and took it home and fell in love with it. It was so cool. It was not until later that I realized that [DISCHARGE] were punks — that they [had] mohawks and all that. It was on the same tape with a metal band — I liked HELLHAMMER and I liked DISCHARGE. I wanted more so I ended up discovering more stuff, bought more tapes. I got some other records — I got the 'Why' EP and 'Never Again' and all that. So, yeah, it was killer. I became a big fan. It was mostly me and Igor — we were kind of like the punk heart of SEPULTURA. The other two guys didn't like punk stuff very much, so it was mostly me and Igor. But I think the influence is… Even today, to me, 'Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing' is a wall of guitar that has never been done again ever since. The album still today sounds amazing. It's just a wall of guitars coming at you. It's incredible. It's sonic violence. It's what I like about it, and I fell in love with it."

He continued: "We were right on the edge of the crossover of metal and punk when SEPULTURA started. Because the beginning of the thrash metal movement, I think what inspired it was the combination of stuff like MOTÖRHEAD mixed with DISCHARGE — you get thrash metal, which is great. So it's perfect for that."

In a 2016 interview with Antihero, Igor stated about what drew him and Max to some of the early hardcore punk music: "It has a lot to do with the energy. I remember also me and Max digging through certain records and always we would find, like, this song. This song is the best … And usually it was the one with more raw power to it. Even though on the [BLACK] SABBATH record, if it would be like a ballad, we would be, like, 'That's cool, but that's not it.' If it was something a bit heavier, we would get into it. And eventually that moved to the point where we were, like, 'Man, this is it. 'That's where hardcore, they get that. They were extracting the cool thing about metal and the cool thing about punk and kind of mixing it up and bringing this style that me and Max to this day, that's something that we really love. Those old records, and also new bands."

As previously reported, Max and Igor will perform select tracks from SEPULTURA's seminal "Beneath The Remains" and "Arise" albums on a U.S. tour this spring/summer. Joining Max and Igor on the trek will be Mike Leon of SOULFLY and Daniel Gonzalez of POSSESSED.

In 1996, Max exited SEPULTURA after the rest of the band split with Max's wife Gloria as their manager.

Igor left SEPULTURA in June 2006 due to "artistic differences." His departure from the band came five months after he announced that he was taking a break from SEPULTURA's touring activities to spend time with his second wife and their son (who was born in January 2006).

MEGADETH's KIKO LOUREIRO Shares More Video From Rehearsal Sessions For 2022 Leg Of 'The Metal Tour Of The Year'

MEGADETH guitarist Kiko Loureiro has shared more behind-the-scenes video from the rehearsal sessions for the 2022 leg of the band's "The Metal Tour Of The Year" with LAMB OF GOD, TRIVIUM and IN FLAMES. Check out the 11-minute clip below.

Featured songs:

00:00 - Intro
00:17 - Soundcheck
02:07 - Trust - Cryptic Writings
05:36 - Symphony of Destruction - Countdown To Extinction
07:34 - Sweating Bullets - Countdown To Extinction
11:07 - Final

The 49-year-old Brazilian musician, who lives in Finland with his wife and kids, and his MEGADETH bandmates kicked off the 2022 leg of "The Metal Tour Of The Year" on April 9 at Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Last month, MEGADETH bassist James LoMenzo discussed the band's setlist for the 2022 leg of "The Metal Tour Of The Year" during a bassist roundtable video chat with Knotfest's Ryan J. Downey. "You have to take into account that Dave's [Mustaine, MEGADETH frontman] been through a lot with his voice, so a lot of the songs that we pick are predicated on [the fact] that he is healing correctly," the bassist said at the time, referencing Mustaine's recent battle with throat cancer. "So that's part of it as well. But it's a long road ahead. We're always swapping in songs. We've got a whole pile — they're all sitting, waiting to be let loose. That's the great thing about being in this band, is that there's just an inexhaustible catalog.

"I don't know how to say this delicately, so I'll just say it. The truth of the matter is when you go to see a lot of your favorite bands — let's be the fan guy; okay, let's go to see our favorite band… I remember when JUDAS PRIEST was doing all of 'Nostradamus'," he continued. "It was a good record, but it wasn't 'Hell Bent For Leather'. And I've gotta say that people wanna hear the songs that they love. Why wouldn't you play them for 'em?

"So that's the problem with a band like MEGADETH," James added. "And there are bands, as we move along — all bands, as you move along, you start just getting this giant catalog. And how do you get enough in there to give the core fans what they really want as opposed to the esoterics? You try and throw a thing here and there, but you've gotta keep the hits, man."

LoMenzo joined MEGADETH in 2006 and appeared on two of the group's studio albums, 2007's "United Abominations" and 2009's "Endgame". He was fired from the band in 2010 and replaced with returning original MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson.

In addition to MEGADETH, LoMenzo has played with Ozzy Osbourne, Zakk Wylde and WHITE LION. For the past nine years, LoMenzo has been performing with iconic rocker John Fogerty.

LoMenzo played his first show with MEGADETH in nearly 12 years last August in Austin, Texas. The concert took place three months following Ellefson's dismissal from MEGADETH after sexually tinged messages and explicit video footage involving him were posted on Twitter.

Ellefson was in MEGADETH from the group's inception in 1983 to 2002, and again from 2010 until his latest exit.

JOE BOUCHARD - Founding Member Of BLUE ÖYSTER CULT Releases New Single "My Way Is The Highway"; Music Video

Joe Bouchard is best known as a former member of Blue Öyster Cult. The original lineup sold millions of albums for Columbia Records, with such classic songs as “Don’t Fear The Reaper” and the #1 hit on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart, “Burning for You". Bouchard contributed to songwriting and lead vocals on some of BOC’s greatest songs, such as “Hot Rails To Hell”.

Today, Bouchard releases his first single, “My Way Is the Highway”, from the forthcoming album, American Rocker. The album is due out June 3 through his brother’s (Albert Bouchard) and his imprint Rockheart Records and Deko Entertainment (ADA/Warner Music Group).

Bouchard had this to say about it, “The song ‘My Way Is The Highway’ is a dream of tour destinations while cruising down the coast as the sun sinks into the Pacific Ocean.  It is powered by the drums of Mickey Curry, and cementing the groove is brother Albert on his iconic cowbell--the original “more-cowbell man”!  This song makes you want to put the pedal to the metal while you dance to the rocking music of the 70s.”

Listen to the song here, and watch a music video below.

Deko Entertainment president, Bruce Pucciarello, states, “The song ‘My Way Is The Highway’ teases my imagination. It conjures up images of times and places that feel like the essence of rock and roll to me.”

The new album American Rocker sees the return of Mickey Curry (Bryan Adams, Hall and Oates, Alice Cooper) on drums, and sees Bouchard taking a look back at the heyday of the 70’s with BÖC on tracks like “In the Golden Age”, and “Rocket To Fame”.

SAMMY HAGAR & THE CIRCLE Perform FOO FIGHTERS' "My Hero" In Memory Of TAYLOR HAWKINS; Video

On April 29, Sammy Hagar & The Circle paid tribute to Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, who passed away on March 25 at the Four Seasons Casa Medina hotel in Bogota, Colombia while the band was on tour. The band performed Foo Fighters' "My Hero" at the Beale Street Music Fest in in Memphis, Tennessee.

A message from Sammy Hagar states: "When we were asked by the promoter to fill in for the Foo Fighters at the Beale Street Music Festival, my first reaction was 'No fucking way!' We discussed it as a band, and we came up with 'Why not! Let's just go play music and you're at a big ass Circle party for those people, just do what we do!' Then with Dave Grohl's blessings we decided to do a broken down version of one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite bands. It felt appropriate. No rehearsal, After all this is rock 'n' roll and thats what it's all about. Enjoy."
