SLIPKNOT Shares Surprise New Standalone Single 'Bone Church'

SLIPKNOT Shares Surprise New Standalone Single 'Bone Church'

SLIPKNOT has shared "Bone Church", a surprise standalone single available today on all streaming platforms. The new song arrives with a M. Shawn "Clown" Crahan-directed video piece titled "Yen – Director's Cut (Bone Church)", which finds the multidisciplinary artist and founding member refreshing footage from the band's "Yen" music video.

Says Clown about the new track: "On the road, we have a 'jam room' set up backstage at every show, where we play, practice, warm up and sometimes try out new ideas. 'Bone Church' started life in a jam room on the '.5: The Gray Chapter' tour. We've been bringing it closer and closer to life ever since, and finally, here it is. This one is for the fans — a further vision deeper into SLIPKNOT's history, which is still being written. Enjoy."

Having recently wrapped the third leg of their enormously popular sold-out "Knotfest Roadshow" tour, SLIPKNOT is set to embark on a run of headlining global festival dates beginning this March, which will include their own Knotfest Australia, Japan and Italy festivals.

SLIPKNOT is continuing to tour in support of its latest album, "The End, So Far", which was released on September 30 via Roadrunner Records. The follow-up to "We Are Not Your Kind", it is the band's final record with Roadrunner after first signing with the rock and metal label in 1998.

Five months ago, SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor once again shot down the rumor that the band would break up after the release of "The End, So Far".

Ever since SLIPKNOT announced the title of its new LP in July, speculation had been rife that the name is a reference to the fact that the LP will mark the end of the band's recording career.

Taylor, who turned 49 in December, addressed the rumor during an appearance on an episode of SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk". He said: "People have been talking about the end of SLIPKNOT since 2003, so it doesn't really matter. If I had a nickel for every time I've had to straighten fans out, I'd have a shit-ton of nickels, let's put it that way.

"Nothing sells albums like drama, let's put it that way, and even drama that doesn't even come from us; it just comes from the fans," he continued. "But at the same time, I kind of started saying onstage… explaining what the title is. It's the fact that it's… It's the end so far, which just means it's the end of one era and the start of the next.

"If you look at all of our favorite bands — [IRON] MAIDEN, METALLICA, [BLACK] SABBATH; you can even talk about JUDAS PRIEST; all these bands that we grew up on, loving; and our friends in ANTHRAX as well — every one of those bands has had different eras in their career; it's never been a straight line," Taylor explained. "There's no through line except for the members. And every era comes to a natural end and then it's the next one. So that's what the title reflects."

Asked by host Eddie Trunk if he believes that each era in a band's trajectory usually corresponds to a major lineup change, Corey responded: "I do, but at the same time, you can still have the end of one era and the beginning of another with the same bandmembers. So, to me, it can be a reflection of the fact that you have different members or you're just moving in a different direction. For me, it's more about just letting the fans know that we will be back and to remind them that you just never know what you're gonna get with us."

Taylor continued: "I mean, every album has always felt different; it's always sounded different. And to me, I feel like this era is more about us dealing with the grief that we've had to deal with and now kind of getting to the point where we can now move on comfortably into the future, and it's not about that. It's a part of our history now; it's not our narrative. And now we can kind of move on and kind of see what the future holds for SLIPKNOT, musically where we can go now. Because of the way we've done things, we've set it up so we can go in any direction we want, and as long as it comes from the heart, it doesn't matter. So that's kind of the era, I think, that's being set up now. The next era will definitely be more of like a 'gloves off, let's just see what happens and go for it.'"

LEDFOOT & RONNI LE TEKRØ To Release Limited Edition Lava Lamp Album In March; "The Ego In The Coffin" Single Streaming

LEDFOOT & RONNI LE TEKRØ To Release Limited Edition Lava Lamp Album In March; "The Ego In The Coffin" Single Streaming

Ledfoot & Ronni Le Tekrø will release their second album together, Limited Edition Lava Lamp, on March 24 via TBC Records. It’s the sequel to the critically acclaimed A Death Divne album from 2021.

Fans can pre-order the album, as well as a limited edition 180g vinyl gatefold in lava lamp color, here. Listen to the song, “The Ego In The Coffin”, below.

For Limited Edition Lava Lamp, the duo has received reinforcements and the upcoming album is in many ways far more commercially available than its predecessor. One shining example is the bluesy cover of “Sister,” from the movie The Color Purple.

“I was singing this song live in my own show, and wrote a new intro and slight rearrangement for the new album,” says Ronni Le Tekrø. “The very last sentence of the lyrics had to be altered to make it be from a man to a woman. I loved the movie The Color Purple. It has such a strong message that I’ve always cherished and felt it could be rerecorded with a male singer. It is a gesture of love to all Sisters everywhere. You’re not alone, your brothers are here.”

The album was produced by veteran and Americana connoisseur HP Gundersen with mastering master Winter Lazerus (Donald Fagen, Michael Jackson, Tom Waits, Pink Floyd), and they have brought along a solid, to put it mildly, group of musicians, including Anders Odden (bass: Order, Cadaver, Magenta, Satyricon), Markus O Klyve (keyboards: Ronni Le Tekrø, Exit), Trond Augland (drums: Hellbillies, Vidar Busk), and HP Gundersen (guitars and keyboards). With HP Gundersen at the helm, the musical expression has changed. The songs are more accessible and will reach a wider audience than its predecessor.

The actual recording was done during eight magical days in Studio Studio Nyhagen, the studio of Ronni Le Tekrø, and the result testifies to some very inspired days, the songs are in a sort of American soundscape, and move uncomplicatedly between references to everything from the Beatles to David Bowie, The White Stripes and a whole host of other greats.

Ledfoot, aka Tim Scott McConnell, has never sung better and with greater empathy than this time, while Ronni Le Tekrø's unique guitar playing finds its completely natural place far (but not too far), forward in the soundscape.

As Ledfoot explains, “After our debut album together, Ronni and I decided it was time to get serious and put a band together… AND WHAT A BAND! The result is Limited Edition Lava Lamp…get ready for a wild ride!”

Ronni Le Tekrø agrees, “On our second album, we have been digging deeper. Exploring and uniting our different styles. With the help of our band, The Sailors, we had a great time recording this album during eight days. Engineer/coproducer Kjartan Hesthagen and producer HP Gundersen pushed the production into landscapes we’ve never been. Look out for the Limited Edition Lava Lamp. It will take you to Twin Peaks. Let your ears take you above and below.”

SIEGE OF POWER Featuring AUTOPSY, ASPHYX, HAIL OF BULLETS Members Release "The Devil's Grasp" Single; Visualizer Streaming

SIEGE OF POWER Featuring AUTOPSY, ASPHYX, HAIL OF BULLETS Members Release "The Devil's Grasp" Single; Visualizer Streaming

Multinational all-star death metal kings, Siege Of Power, have set February 17 as release date for their new full-length, This Is Tomorrow. The band has now released the second single of the album. Check out the visualizer for "The Devil's Grasp" below.

Siege Of Power consists of Chris Reifert (Autopsy) on vocals, Paul Baayens (Asphyx) on guitars, Theo van Eekelen (ex-Hail Of Bullets) on bass and Bob Bagchus (ex-Asphyx) on drums.

"We still like the debut Warning Blast a lot but after a few years we started talking about doing another album and then we realized we had to be more serious. So we started writing 11 songs - all killers, no fillers!", comments drummer Bob Bagchus. "Most of our inspiration on this album came from old school bands like Venom, Bathory, Slayer and even Black Sabbath. Combined with our own personal style we have for decades, of course."

This Is Tomorrow is a tad darker than Warning Blast and that's not all. Chris Reifert's vocals are a lot more diverse giving each song it's own identity. It's a straight forward, rough metal album with good, old 80s vibes and reflects the dark times we are living in these days.

The album was recorded at Toneshed studios and mixed/mastered by Erwin Hermsen. The stunning artwork was created by Roberto Toderico.

Siege Of Power started in 2013 -under the moniker First Class Elite - as a project without any expectations. Shortly after releasing a split album it was left for dead, buried and almost forgotten until the rotten corpse was exhumed in 2017. This resulted in 19 no-nonsense extreme metal tracks mixed with several doomdozers and the debut album Warning Blast.

This Is Tomorrow can also be pre-ordered here in the following formats:

- jewelcase-CD
- clear / blood red splatter vinyl (limited to 300 copies)
- red with black & white splatter vinyl (limited to 300 copies)

Today, Visions Of Atlantis have unveiled the first glimpse of the new live release with a clip of Pirates album opener “Pirates Will Return”, performed live at Masters Of Rock 2022 and cut from the upcoming Bonus DVD - resulting in a six minute sing-a-long opportunity for listeners to get lost in. While singers Clémentine Delauney and Michele Guaitoli tell the story of brave pirates, hauntingly beautiful melodies and live video will take you back to an unforgettable summer festival day.

Visions Of Atlantis on Pirates Over Wacken: "There is something purely magical about Wacken. Maybe it is the collective belief that this is the Holy Ground of Heavy Metal. Maybe it simply is, the Holy Ground of Heavy Metal. Maybe this casts a specific energy around the stages and the fields of this special German town. We didn’t miss to feel this magic, while shouting the name “Wacken" out loud on stage or while looking around and seeing thousands of people, at peace, loving being there and sharing this together.

It was very special to us again, as if it wasn’t our first time playing Wacken. We got overcome with emotion several times during the show. There was so much we wanted to say. We felt empowered as a artists and human beings. Wacken is ones of these grounds where you feel you can change the world. Watching this crowd and talking to them on that very day felt like never before and we will remember it forever.

Nothing lasts forever but memories do. Thank you Wacken for having made us a part of your legend.”

RYUJIN - Japanese "Samurai Metal" Band Formerly Known As GYZE Signs Worldwide Contract With Napalm Records

RYUJIN - Japanese "Samurai Metal" Band Formerly Known As GYZE Signs Worldwide Contract With Napalm Records

Formerly known as Gyze, Japanese "samurai metal" band, Ryujin, have been reborn - signing a worldwide contract with premier rock and metal empire Napalm Records to usher them into their new era.

Ryujin rises to carry heavy metal from Japan to the masses around the world. With high speed riffs and breakneck guitar descents paired with traditional music from their home country, Ryujin creates a sound unknown in the west.

After four highly acclaimed albums and worldwide appearances at large festivals, Ryujin have developed their own identity, expressed with accents of traditional Japanese instruments and lead guitarist Ryoji Shinomoto's incredible shredding technique and ripping vocals.

Napalm Records is thrilled to have Ryujin join its growing roster - stay tuned for more news, coming soon.

Ryujin mastermind Ryoji Shinomoto says: "We have a very GRATEFUL announcement on behalf of Ryujin (ex-Gyze): Like a Phoenix from the ashes… Gyze has become Ryujin! Matthew Kiichi Heafy from Trivium is our manager, producer, mentor. We are proud to have just signed a worldwide deal with the amazing Napalm Records. We are ready to make this band a worldwide-known act; and to bring happiness and excitement to everyone around the globe.

"The name Ryujin comes from the Japanese Dragon God King with the same name. In Japanese lore, Ryujin freely moves heaven and earth, moves the clouds, blows the wind, and makes it rain. The Dragon God King also controls the flow of weather, ocean currents, and geothermal heat.

"We can’t wait for you to hear the music we’ve been working on."

Trivium frontman and Ryujin manager Matthew Kiichi Heafy adds: "It is my incredible honor to announce that I am officially working with the newly reincarnated form of Gyze, Ryujin, for management, production, and mentoring. Ryujin is the Japanese king of the dragons - and the namesake of this for the band is nothing but appropriate.

"Ryoji is one of the most talented human beings I’ve ever had the privilege of knowing. Whether it's his monstrous screaming, powerful singing, other-worldly guitar playing, or his masterful songwriting - he is a musical force of nature.

"This album is going to be mind blowing."

Sebastian Muench, A&R, Napalm Records says: "We have been following the exciting career of Ryujin (former Gyze) for many years and believe that their style of Japanese Melodic Death Metal is simply amazing. We are happy to work with Ryujin, along with Matthew Kiichi Heafy, on the new album release and to break the band in the global market."

Ryoji Shinomoto - Guitar, Vocals, Shamisen, Erhu, Dragon Flute & Orchestration
Shuji Shinomoto - Drums, Vocals
Aruta Watanabe - Bass, Vocals
Yukihiro Shinkai - Guitar

NERVOSA Part Ways With Vocalist DIVA SATANICA

NERVOSA Part Ways With Vocalist DIVA SATANICA

Brazilian thrash / death metal band Nervosa have checked in with the following update:

"Since September 2022, Nervosa was informed that Diva (Satanica / vocals) would leave the band, and since then she has carried out all activities with great professionalism and respect. The reason for her departure is because she chooses to invest more time in other projects and in her band. Since her decision, we entered into an agreement to comply with the Latin America tour and announce her departure later so that we could plan everything calmly and in time.

We understand and support her decision.

It's not easy for either party, but life is made of choices and decisions. So don't judge too harshly, because it's a very painful moment for both parties. All our respect to Diva, thank you for all your dedication and contribution. We wish you good luck on your new journey.

Nervosa has been working with a vocalist for the last 2 months, and is also working with a new drummer. The recordings for the new album start this week, so stay tuned on our social networks because we're going to post some spoilers.

Thanks to all the fans for their love and support.

Nervosa will never die."

Earlier this month, Nervosa announced the addition of a second guitarist, named Helena Kotina. An official statement reads:

"The position will be filled by guitarist Helena Kotina. In the very beginning Nervosa consisted of two guitarists, but after the departure of Karen Ramos, the band decided to stay as a trio for logistics reasons.

After the complete line-up change in 2020, Prika thought of adding a second guitarist, but she decided to do it later, there were too many new members in the band to manage alone and the line-up had already moved from 3 piece to 4 piece, rising the touring costs of the band in general, so an addition of a second guitarist had to be postponed.

Few months after the release of Perpetual Chaos, in March of 2021, Prika called Helena to join Nervosa, since then they started composing a new album together.

At the end of 2022, Mia could not come to tour Latin America, so Prika thought of asking Helena to come to play bass and have the first touring experience with Nervosa.

Helena Kotina is a young guitar player born and raised in Greece. She picked up the guitar at the age of 14, being her main influences on bands like Scorpions, Rainbow, Deep Purple. Her professional career started by releasing the first EP of the Greek band Daffodil called, A Hope For Things That Never Come. In the summer of 2022, she released her first personal work called One Of Those Days, and later on she toured with Nervosa as a bassist in their Latin America tour. Also by the end of the year, Helena played alongside Paul Di'Anno and Gus G in their Greek tour.

Nervosa is finishing the new songs now and very soon they are going to enter the studio to record the 5th album in Nervosa's career."

Helena Kotina has commented: "Thank you so much everybody for the great response you showed after the announcement of being part of Nervosa as a second guitarist. The warm welcoming and your support really means a lot to me. As we said before we've been waiting (actually working) more than a year for this moment to arrive but it was totally worth it and you will understand what I mean very soon. We didn't had a lot of time to celebrate the event as we are working with full power for the new album, but we will do it in the proper way with you all. Cheers!!!"

SEVENTH CRYSTAL Debut "Wonderland" Music Video

SEVENTH CRYSTAL Debut "Wonderland" Music Video

Seventh Crystal have released a video for "Wonderland", the title track of their second full-length, out on CD/digital March 10, and on vinyl on July 14.  Watch the clip below.

Picking up where their debut left off, but taking everything up a level (or two, really), Wonderland sees the bands taking the unique formula that worked so well for them and expanding upon it. This is melodic rock for the 21st century.

Seventh Crystal is a new rock band from the fertile Swedish music scene that was put together by singer Kristian Fyhr (Perpetual Etude). Initially, Kristian wanted to pursue a solo project. but when the songs started to take form, he realized he wanted to involve more musicians. So, he moved to vocals only and brought in Johan Älvsång (Pinstripe Conspiracy, Lamashtu) on keyboards/piano and Olof Gadd (Osukaru) on bass as the first key pieces, and then recruited Anton Roos on drums and Emil Dornerus on guitar to complete the lineup. After the release of their debut album, Gustav Linde joined the band as their second guitarist.

Seventh Crystal's music can best be described as arena rock with melodic rock influences. If you love the new wave of Scandinavian hard rock embodied by the likes of One Desire, H.E.A.T., and other bands who bring a huge sense of melody to modern rock, then this band is going to be right up your alley.

IRON CURTAIN Streaming New Single "Metal Gladiator"; Audio

IRON CURTAIN Streaming New Single "Metal Gladiator"; Audio

True-as-steel Spaniards, Iron Curtain, are streaming the new track, "Metal Gladiator". The track is the second to be revealed from the band's brand-new mini-album, Metal Gladiator, set for international release on February 24 via Dying Victims Productions. Listen to the track below.

For over 15 years now, Spanish metal inquisition Iron Curtain have been stalwart defenders of the faith. With a discography that includes four full-lengths and twice as many EPs, splits, and demos, Iron Curtain’s ever-sturdy sound was forged in the fires of the early ‘80s: largely nodding to the eternal Motörhead as well as Tank, but also Canadian gods like Exciter and Razor, to the Teutonic might of early Iron Angel and Grave Digger, to Scandinavian gods OZ and Heavy Load, to cult American icons Abattoir and Savage Grace. And with the Dying Victims release of career highpoint Danger Zone in 2019, that sound’s become even more rocking than ever.

And Iron Curtain continue that trajectory with a quick-hitting and absolutely electric mini-album titled Metal Gladiator. A smorgasboard of old & new and special all the same, Metal Gladiator includes three new and exclusive tracks - “Crossing the Acheron,” “Burn in Hell,” and the title track “Metal Gladiator” - recorded at their own Gorgon Studios during the latter half of 2021, displaying perhaps their most perfect balance of grit and gleam…total anthems! Then there are three older songs that include special lead-guitar friends: “Rough Riders” with Noboru Jero Sakuma (Gorgon, Abigail, Metalucifer), “Stormbound” with Blumi (Metal Inquisitor, Midnight Rider), and “The Running Man” with Harry Granroth (RAM). And lastly is the brand-new song “Rattlesnake,” which will be on Iron Curtain’s forthcoming fifth full-length. Altogether, Metal Gladiator is a new start for the band and resounding reassurance for Iron Curtain’s true-metal dominance during their third decade of existence.

EXODUS Drummer TOM HUNTING Releases Music Video For 'Jungle Love' From 'Hunting Party' Solo EP

EXODUS Drummer TOM HUNTING Releases Music Video For 'Jungle Love' From 'Hunting Party' Solo EP

Legendary thrash drummer Tom Hunting (EXODUS) has released a music video for "Jungle Love", his cover of the MORRIS DAY AND THE TIME classic from the film "Purple Rain". Darryl "DMC" McDaniels (RUN-DMC) actually wrote original lyrics for his part and Dan Lorenzo (HADES, NON-FICTION) came up with the guitar parts to go along with DMC's vocal.

"Jungle Love" is taken from Hunting's first solo EP, "Hunting Party", which featuring covers of some of his favorite songs.

The band includes guitarist C. Will Harden and drummer Gator McKlusky.

Jack Gibson (EXODUS) lends his bass to "East Bound And Down", joining his bandmate for this classic by Jerry Reed. Jack's love for "Smokey And The Bandit" helped bring an authentic tone to this heavy remake, the official music video for which can be seen below.

Lorenzo plays bass on the Stevie Wonder classic "You Haven't Done Nothin'", plus the guitar parts behind DMC on "Jungle Love", adding to that crushing original section of the track.

Jonny Rod (RETURN TO DARKNESS) takes on the killer solo for "East Bound and Down", staying true to the classic. He also kills it on bass for "Jungle Love" and "Boys Are Back In Town" by THE BUSBOYS, from the film "48 Hrs.".

James Arthur (WHEELHOUSE JUNCTION) closes the album with his vocal tribute in "East Bound And Down".

Tom worked closely with drummer Gator McKlusky, who also produced and engineered the album, to make sure everything best represented these classics.

The music video for "Boys Are Back In Town", featuring Chuck Billy (TESTAMENT) and Steve "Zetro" Souza (EXODUS) on backing vocals, can also be seen below. The clip was created by Craig Cefola.

"Hunting Party" EP track listing:

01. You Haven't Done Nothin'
02. Boys Are Back In Town
03. Jungle Love
04. East Bound And Down

Hunting underwent a successful total gastrectomy in July 2021 in his battle with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the stomach.

A GoFundMe campaign to help Hunting with medical expenses had previously raised more than $111,000 — including $5,000 from Tom's former EXODUS bandmate, current METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett, and $1,500 from FOZZY singer and wrestling superstar Chris Jericho.

The 58-year-old rejoined his EXODUS bandmates on stage in October 2021 at the Aftershock festival in Sacramento, California.

In January 2022, Hunting was asked by Niclas Müller-Hansen of RockSverige if his battle with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the stomach has changed his view on life. He responded: "Well, I definitely don't sweat the small stuff anymore. It gives you a new perspective where that's concerned, I think. Things that used to stress me out, I'm just, like, Meh.' It's just stuff that's gonna happen to some of us. I'm lucky — very lucky — that they were able to take a bad situation and make it okay. I'm walking around, I'm eating, I'm breathing, I'm playing drums. I'm lucky and the science is amazing like what they're able to do. They've done a lot of tests and they can't find cancer inside me right now so that's a good thing. I might've dodged a couple of bullets there. [Laughs]"

Hunting said that there was a short period after the surgery when he couldn't play drums. "They wouldn't let me do anything for, like, five weeks," he said. "Then I started doing pushups. Before the surgery, I was getting chemo doses, like four of them, and they were pretty massive. I did play drums a little bit, but I wasn't feeling it that well. I thought I was gonna be in the throes of getting four more outro doses of chemo, but they're not doing them. They don't need to. Right now I'm getting immunotherapy which does not really have any side effects. Getting small doses of that once every three weeks, but I have no restrictions on playing or anything, basically. They said, 'Just resume your life. Celebrate and resume your life.' And that's kinda what I'm doing."
