Invictus, the new solo project led by Maurizio Iacono, will release their debut full-length, Unstoppable, on September 23 via MNRK Heavy, today unveiling the record’s artwork, tracklisting, and pre-orders.


Well-respected as the singer of Kataklysm and Ex Deo, head of Hard Impact Artist Management, founder of Distortion Music Group, and co-owner of hard-and-heavy booking agency Continental Touring, Iacono delivers dynamic new layers of heaviness and melody with his latest creative vehicle.


A Latin epithet for various Roman deities, “Invictus” translates to “unconquered” or “invincible,” a theme put forward throughout Iacono’s latest output. The eleven songs that comprise Unstoppable offer an unflinching view of an unbreakable spirit, examined through the lens of ambitious, unapologetic heavy music.




Iacono executed his vision alongside longtime collaborator J-F Dagenais (guitarist for Kataklysm and Ex Deo) and producer/main songwriter Chris Clancy (Mutiny Within). Powerhouse drummer Jeramie Kling (Venom Inc., Inhuman Condition) rounded out the record with a blistering performance.


Iacono got to know Clancy, who often works alongside Colin Richardson and Andy Sneap, while making Kataklysm’s fourteenth album, 2020’s Unconquered. “Chris is an excellent songwriter and vocalist with a lot of talent,” Iacono says. “We have a lot in common with our musical tastes.”


The sound of Invictus resonates deeply with all those who forged themselves in the fire of life’s obstacles. Conceived as an unflinching examination of fury and determination, Invictus explores the depths of struggle, frustration, and perseverance that shaped Iacono into the man he is today.


Comments Iacono, “Today we unleash the preview to a record we worked so very hard on. The first video/single ‘Exiled’ has a great start-to-finish that really touches a lot of elements this album represents. My whole career has been about overcoming obstacles and reaching the light while keeping true to myself. This is a project that, regardless of the outcome, needed to be done for my soul. I’m very honored to have had Chris Clancy, J-F Dagenais, and Jeramie Kling by my side in this new endeavor. Unstoppable is the gateway to self-preservation and perseverance and I hope you all enjoy it!”


Adds Clancy, “I was really honored to have Maurizio reach out to me and ask me to be a part of everything when he decided it was time he did a solo project. It’s not often I have the chance to be so heavily involved in writing and working alongside people I look up to, so I jumped at the chance. We put some ideas together between us and everything just worked. I couldn’t believe how easily it all fell into place; how every idea we had just worked and fueled another idea. The music has gone from strength to strength, and I’ve never had so much fun. I think the music is absolutely brutal with a solid dose of anthemic moments scattered throughout. ‘Exiled’ is a perfect example of what this album is about. During a June 9 appearance on SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk", DREAM THEATER singer James LaBrie spoke about what it has been like for him and his bandmates to return to the road during the pandemic. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "We just did six and a half weeks all throughout Europe, and it went great. There's still the 'COVID hangover' going on, so some of the shows were a little lighter than we had expected. But what was crazy is as the tour went on, the room were, 'Hey, guys, you sold out tonight,' 'Hey, guys, you know what? It's gonna be packed tonight.' And that became more and more evident the longer the tour was in place. But when we first started out, it was half-filled rooms, three-quarter rooms. And the promoter was, like, 'Don't worry about it, guys. This isn't your fault. This is happening to every single artist out there.' And we were, like, 'Wow. People are still very much affected by it over here.' But like I said, by the time we were maybe two or three weeks into it, everything looked like a normal DREAM THEATER tour, and it was amazing; it was excellent. We finished in Istanbul on June 1st. And that was amazing. We played this big outdoor venue and there was about ten thousand people. And it was just frickin' kickin' butt big time — big time. So it was a great tour."

LaBrie's latest comments echo what DREAM THEATER keyboardist Jordan Rudess told the "Talking Into Infinity" video podcast about going back on tour. Jordan said: "Yeah, finally getting back on the road, it's been awesome… It's been amazing getting on the road. It was really hard to get on the road as well. But the fact that we are out here has been just incredible. We finally got through all the logistics that it took to make this happen, and luckily got through the U.S. tour, we got through the European tour successfully, without anybody getting COVID and having to cancel the whole thing. And it's been totally re-energizing. The energy of the fans has been amazing to see. I mean, it is a reality that in some locations there weren't as many people as there would have been if we weren't having a world pandemic; it's just what's going on. But when you feel the energy of the people and the joy in that they can get out there and experience live music again, it's incredible. And it's a great feeling.

"I have to say that when I first was heading out, I was, like, 'Oh my God. What's gonna happen? How is this gonna work?'' Jordan admitted. "But the reality of it has been amazing. Actually, last night was probably one of the greatest shows that I can remember because we were in Istanbul, Turkey and the crowd there — there was at least five thousand people — and it was so powerful. I walked on stage [and] I was almost like breathless for about two minutes because the energy from the crowd was so strong. I'm, like, 'Oh my God. I've gotta settle down and kind of collect myself.' 'Cause you wanna just play — you don't wanna get too crazy. But the impact of that crowd was so insane. But that was kind of related to what was going on. We just felt this love and support and energy. And [we were, like,' 'Wow.' [It was] amazing."

DREAM THEATER won its first-ever Grammy in the "Best Metal Performance" category in the pre-telecast ceremony at the 64th annual Grammy Awards, which was held on April 3 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. DREAM THEATER was nominated for "The Alien", a track from its 2021 album "A View From The Top Of The World". DREAM THEATER's previous Grammy nominations were for the song "On The Backs Of Angels", from 2011's "A Dramatic Turn Of Events" album, and the single "The Enemy Inside" from 2013's "Dream Theater".

"A View From The Top Of The World" was described in a press released as "DREAM THEATER at its musical finest, expanding on the sound they helped create while maintaining the elements that have garnered them devoted fans around the globe." The seven-song album also marked the second studio album with InsideOut Music/Sony Music. The artwork was created by longtime cover collaborator Hugh Syme (RUSH, IRON MAIDEN, STONE SOUR). "A View From The Top Of The World" was produced by guitarist John Petrucci, engineered and additional production by James "Jimmy T" Meslin and mixed/mastered by Andy Sneap.

The Loyal Order first hatched as a studio project several years ago when Jeff Buehner was approached to write a theme song for a regional outdoor hunting reality show. He reached out to guitarist Brandon Cook for a heavy riff, and the result was a song called Off the Grid (Superhuman). It aired regionally in the Pacific NW for two seasons.




A bass player by trade, singing is a new beginning for Jeff. The songs were originally crafted with a different singer in mind, but after laying scratch tracks for the first few songs, the producer (Kevin Hahn) convinced him to lay the final tracks himself.


From this songwriting partnership between Buehner and Cook, the songs began to flow. They soon approached producer Rob Daiker at The Commune in Portland, Oregon, who has crafted major label releases with Slowrush, The Dan Reed Network, and Royal Bliss.


Rounding out the band is Patrick Young on bass and Kyle Baltus on the drums; prominent Pacific NW rock players that have made names for themselves locally and nationally.

From Ashes To New have released “Heartache” via Better Noise Music. The band, which boasts four Top Ten Active Rock singles and over 345M streams across digital music platforms, also premier an impactful new video to accompany the single. Listen to “Heartache” here, and watch the video below.





The new song sonically depicts the true “phoenix rising from the ashes” story behind the band’s name. From the opening lines, “Growing up in a prison is, Nothing different than the town I’m used to living in,” the track highlights the humble beginnings, poverty, family addiction, mental health issues each band member has faced, along with the current awareness of how those things have changed the trajectory of how they live now.




Directed by JosiahX, the “Heartache” music video captures and illustrates the feeling of the darkness from which each band member originated.  


Lead singer Matt Brandyberry reflected on what inspired the song, saying, “Heartache. It's something we have all experienced and for most of us, something that defines a large portion of our lives. Filling our hearts with happiness gets us through each passing day, but the moments that cause pain are what condition us for our futures. Our stories began with heartache and from that heartache we manifested our happiness. With the good comes the bad, but from the bad we create the great. We are nothing without the heartache.”





This summer the band will be joining Memphis May Fire on the Remade In Misery tour across North America. The tour will kick off in Charlotte, NC on June 24 and end in Alton, VA on September 10. Canadian metal legends Voivod will be inducted into the 2022 Metal Hall Of Fame at the Pure Filth Festival, June 18, 2022 at Sharkey’s in Liverpool, NY.


Pat Gesualdo, founder / CEO of the Metal Hall of Fame, and "Metal" Tim Henderson, founder / CEO of BraveWords, will induct Voivod on stage during their performance at the festival. Original album cover artist Ioannis will also be on hand with some of his original, legendary artwork that he has created for numerous iconic rock bands.


Credited as one of the “Big Four” Canadian thrash metal bands, Voivod  created their own unique metal style, helping to pioneer the Technical Thrash Metal Genre. Their Nothingface album hit the Billboard 200 charts, peaking at #114, in 1989. In 2019, Voivod's fourteenth studio album, The Wake, won the Juno Award for Metal / Hard Music Album of the Year. Voivod's most recent studio album, Synchro Anarchy, was released in February 2022.




"We are proud to induct Canadian technical thrash metal pioneers Voivod into the 2022 Metal Hall of Fame during their performance at the Pure Filth Festival, says Gesualdo. "Thrash metal is a crucial part of heavy metal. It is also a huge foundation for the Metal Hall of Fame. Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx is featured in a new interview with Classic Rock. He reveals what he considers to be his personal highlight of the last 24 years, and offers his thoughts on the current state of rock n' roll. Following is an excerpt from the chat.


Classic Rock: YouTube is one of the biggest things to have happened in Classic Rock’s lifetime. What’s the most embarrassing footage you’ve seen of yourself? 


Nikki: "It’s funny, the only time I ever really dig down and listen to Mötley Crüe is as we’re putting together a show; you kind of go through the albums and stuff like that. I dug into YouTube and was looking at some of the old videos, and I guess it could all be considered embarrassing, because rock’n’roll is embarrassing – as it should be. We should be ridiculous, we should be outrageous, we should be pushing envelopes and we should be rebelling against each other. We’re supposed to be loud and rude and in-your-face." 




Classic Rock: What do you make of the state of rock’n’roll right now? Is it in good shape? 


Nikki: "My criticism is that it’s extremely overproduced in a lot of cases. It’s ProTooled to death, it’s chopped to death, and I miss some of the slop. I miss some of the flat notes. I miss when a guitar player doesn’t exactly come down perfect. I kinda miss some of the nuts and bolts of just being in a raw rock’n’roll band. With that being said, there’s some cool bands that are coming out and just going to the studio and cutting it pretty much live off the floor, and it’s real – you can feel it, that they mean it."

In an interview with Rock Sound conducted at last weekend's Download festival in the United Kingdom, KORN guitarist Brian "Head" Welch reflected on the band's "Untouchables" album, which celebrated its 20th anniversary on June 11. Produced by Michael Beinhorn, the LP debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and featured the Grammy-winning single "Here To Stay".

"It's not my favorite [KORN album]," Welch admitted (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). "I like the record a lot — I think it's really good — but I love 'Here To Stay'. That opening, that riff, those guitar tones we got, you can't match 'em — it's ours forever; it's our sound forever. But yeah, that song hit hard. But the record was kind of challenging. I attempted sobriety that record. And we actually went to Arizona and got all these mansions and started recording and writing in these houses. And most of 'em were party houses. And I'm trying to get sober. And we spent so much money on that record. But it came out good. And we got some great memories."

Three years ago, Beinhorn told the "BREWtally Speaking" podcast about the making of "Untouchables": "I realized at a certain point that the costs were just spiraling way out of control, and there are aspects about it that couldn't really have been reined in at that point. Because even before I got started, the band tacked a million dollars' worth of expenses — their own expenses — on to the production costs. Which, essentially, I had to accept that contractually if I wanted to work on the project. So already I was coming in a million dollars short, and when the smoke cleared, I think the production budget was up around a million seven [hundred thousand] or something like that, [which] even in the best of circumstances would be an exorbitant amount to spend on a record, but I think the final cost for the record was 3.4 or 3.2 million, and all the rest of that were band expenses. I don't know exactly what a lot of that money got spent on, because I was never actually permitted to see any of the expense documentation or accounting."

Beinhorn admitted that the prospect of spending so much money on one album was "definitely a bit hair raising but at the same time exhilarating, because we basically had a blank check to do whatever we wanted. And having those kinds of resources, especially for a band who, at that point, really didn't have a clear idea of what their direction was going to be, it did wind up helping," he said. "I don't think that we could've done the record — that same record — in a shorter amount of time. It just wouldn't have worked out. There were so many layers to get through. For one thing, the band, just being in California, had so many distractions. They are extremely talented, but they also have the most incredible case of collective ADHD I've ever seen. So it wasn't easy keeping them focused. Obviously, once we got into a recording studio, things went pretty well. But trying to work with them in the pre-production and the songwriting phase was difficult — it was a lot of hard work."

Despite the fact that the production process took longer than originally expected and was more difficult than he initially anticipated, Michael looks back fondly on the final result.

"They were one of the biggest bands in the world," he said. "They could have anything that they wanted. They could spend as much money as [they wanted]. They had access to whatever they could possibly imagine or think that they needed at that point. So I think they were pretty pampered as well. So if we were gonna get anything extraordinary out of them, it was gonna take a tremendous amount of effort. But, fortunately, they gave a hundred percent. So I think it worked itself out."

In a 2018 interview with the "Lead Singer Syndrome" podcast, KORN frontman Jonathan Davis said that "Untouchables" was "hands down" his favorite album from the band. "It was a record that we made that couldn't be made in this day — we spent over four million bucks doing that," he explained. "Most of that money went to keeping our entire crew on retainer for two and a half years. That was just mistake number one, but we spent two and a half years working with an amazing producer, Michael Beinhorn, recording in different studios... That album is perfect. I call it the heavy-metal 'Aja' [STEELY DAN's 1977 album]. Sonically, you hear 'Aja' from STEELY DAN — that is a perfect record... It's just unreal how good ['Untouchables'] sounds and how much work we put into it."

KORN's latest album, "Requiem", was released on February 4 via Loma Vista Recordings. The band celebrated the LP's arrival with a special record-release event on February 3 at the Hollywood United Methodist Church in Los Angeles, California. "Requiem Mass" saw the Southern California heavy music pioneers perform an intimate set in front of a 300 attendees.

"Requiem", which was produced by Chris Collier and KORN, entered Billboard's Hard Rock Albums chart at No. 1. The band sold 23,000 equivalent album units in the February 4-10 tracking week, according to Billboard. Of that sum, 20,000 units were from album sales. "Requiem" also landed at No. 2 on the Top Rock Albums and Top Alternative Albums charts. On the all-format Billboard 200, it arrived at No. 14.

KORN recently announced a summer tour with fellow rock culture icons EVANESCENCE, produced by Live Nation. Accompanied by special guests varying across select dates, the 18-city tour kicks off on August 16 at Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado, making stops across the U.S. in Boston, Chicago, Houston and more before wrapping up in Ridgefield, Washington on September 16.

NIRVANA bassist Krist Novoselic, LED ZEPPELIN bassist John Paul Jones, pop superstar Pink, HEART guitarist Nancy Wilson, CHIC's Nile Rodgers, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE collaborator Alain Johannes and more have been added to the bill for the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concerts, set to take place in September.

Novoselic, Jones, Rodgers, Johannes, 12-year-old drum prodigy Nandi Bushell, FOO FIGHTERS producer Greg Kurstin and comedian Chris Rock will join FOO FIGHTERS, OASIS's Liam Gallagher, RUSH's Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson, QUEEN's Brian May and Roger Taylor and others at the London tribute event, which will take place at Wembley Stadium on September 3.

At the Los Angeles concert, which will happen on September 27 at the Kia Forum, Pink, LeAnn Rimes, John Paul Jones, Alain Johannes, Nancy Wilson, Krist Novoselic and Greg Kurstin will join KISS's Gene Simmons, MÖTLEY CRÜE's Nikki Sixx, pop superstar Miley Cyrus, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer Chad Smith, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE drummer Brad Wilk, Joan Jett, Alanis Morissette, THE STRUTS frontman Luke Spiller and others.

Proceeds will benefit charities in both the U.K. and the U.S. chosen by the Hawkins family.

As one of the most respected and beloved figures in modern music, Taylor's monolithic talent and magnetic personality endeared him to millions of fans, peers, friends and fellow musical legends the world over. Millions mourned his untimely passing on March 25, with passionate and sincere tributes coming from fans as well as musicians Taylor idolized. The Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concerts will unite several of those artists, the Hawkins family and, of course, his FOO FIGHTERS brothers in celebration of Taylor's memory and his legacy as a global rock icon — his bandmates and his inspirations playing the songs that he fell in love with, and the ones he brought to life.

Hawkins was found dead at the Four Seasons Casa Medina hotel in Bogota.

An official cause of death for Hawkins hasn't yet been released. But on March 26, Colombia's attorney general's office released a preliminary toxicology report, saying that medical examiners found evidence of 10 types of substances in Hawkins's body, including opioids, benzodiazepines, marijuana and antidepressants.

Hawkins joined FOO FIGHTERS in 1997. Prior to that, he played with the Orange County band SYLVIA and was also in the backing band for Sass Jordan. He also toured with Alanis Morissette as her drummer.

Hawkins was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame last year as a member of the FOO FIGHTERS.

Hawkins's most recent work with FOO FIGHTERS included last year's "Medicine At Midnight" album, a collection of BEE GEES covers and FOO FIGHTERS' horror film "Studio 666".

Fan-filmed video of DEATH TO ALL (DTA) — which features former members of DEATH celebrating the life and music of Chuck Schuldiner — performing on June 15 at Baroeg in Rotterdam, The Netherlands can be seen below.

Earlier this month, DEATH TO ALL kicked off a European tour. The trek will conclude on June 26 in Kraków, Poland.

The current lineup of DEATH TO ALL includes Gene Hoglan (also of TESTAMENT, DARK ANGEL, DETHKLOK),Steve DiGiorgio (TESTAMENT, CONTROL DENIED, SADUS) on bass and Bobby Koelble on guitar. Max Phelps (CYNIC),who has been touring with DEATH TO ALL, is once again handling the vocal and second-guitar duties.

In a 2014 interview with Metal Rules, DiGiorgio was asked what DEATH TO ALL means to him. He responded: "Our formulated answer is that it is a tribute memorializing the memory of Chuck. To me, it means getting back with buddies. And you've seen their lineup change a little bit here, we had Paul [Masvidal] and Sean [Reinert] from CYNIC. We had Shannon Hamm in for a while. And now Gene and Bobby. I've jammed with all these guys over the years. They're pretty much some of the best musicians in the world. At least in my opinion."

He continued: "We did those albums back in the day, and when our cycle was over, and when whoever lasted however long, we went our own ways. Now we're back together again and it's cool, from my point of view, to do music with some of the best, amazing musicians/guys in the world. It's awesome. And we have a lot of fun every night, man, because we all realize that not only did we make a statement 20-something years ago, but here we are 20-something years later in our mid-40s playing that stuff as we did as young men. It's kind of, like, yay us. Because we are only just a few years off of 50 and we're playing this music we did just turning the corner into 20 and we're doing it pretty good. And that's not a brag. The reason is we push each other. Somebody falls a little bit behind and this guy's right behind him. You don't want to let your guard down, because everybody's really good at what they do. And that's what it means to me, man. It means to carry on what we did back then with no idea where we'd be in the future, and here we are doing it with conviction."

Schuldiner died on December 13, 2001 after a battle with pontine glioma, a rare type of brain tumor.

In recent years, DEATH's storied catalog has undergone a meticulous reissue campaign via Relapse Records.

Relapse released the first-ever fully authorized DEATH tab book, featuring 21 classic songs tabbed out for guitar from the band's entire discography. The book, which includes traditional notation as well as tablature, also comes with a digital download of all tracks.

In a 2011 interview with Bass Musician magazine, DiGiorgio stated about working with Schuldiner: "Sometimes people make good music together, and sometimes they vibe like yin and fucking yang. Chuck is credited with a lot of things in the music world (metal world, of course),but one thing a lot of people don't know much about is how aware he was. What I mean is that he was a good listener. If I thought of a wacky bassline to something he was writing, before I could even try to explain why it came to me, he was already ahead of it and looking for something on the next part. He had a good sense of when to hold me back and when to push me. It was great to have someone, especially the 'main man' of the band not only appreciate what I contributed but also help me find my inner demon to conjure even sicker and more abstract things to play. There really was some math going on in that roiling storm sometimes."

Aaron Lewis says that doubled down on the notion that "a good guy with a gun" is the only thing that can stop "a bad guy with a gun."

The 50-year-old STAIND frontman repeated the message frequently amplified by right-leaning media outlets during his June 12 solo concert at General Duffy's Waterhole in Redmond, Oregon.

He told the crowd: "[The only thing that] is ever going to stop an evil person with evil intentions with a gun is a good person with the intestinal fortitude with a gun to stop the situation. You wanna stop our schools from getting shot up? Put guns in the schools. Our kids are around guns at home all the time. What the fuck difference does it make? I'd feel safer to know that my kids' teacher was qualified and certified and had the all-lawful-purposes license to carry a concealed weapon and chose to do so for the safety of my kids."

Aaron made his comments in the wake of last month's mass shooting in a Uvalde, Texas elementary school which resulted in the deaths of at least 19 children and two adults.

The Uvalde massacre came only 10 days after an 18-year-old gunman in body armor killed 10 shoppers and workers at a supermarket in a predominantly black area of Buffalo, New York.

This past Monday, Ohio governor Mike DeWine signed a bill allowing teachers to carry guns in class after 24 hours of training. Previously more than 700 hours of training was required before a teacher would be allowed to carry a gun in a school safety zone.

Florida requires a 144-hour training program at a minimum, including 12 hours of a certified nationally recognized diversity training program and 132 hours of comprehensive firearm safety, according to the Florida Department of Education.

A longtime researcher of school shootings recently told NPR that he has found that arming teachers isn't a good strategy "because it invites numerous disasters and problems, and the chances of it actually helping are so minuscule."

According to CNN, the number of U.S. deaths from gun violence in 2019 was about 4 per 100,000 people. That's 18 times the average rate in other developed countries. Multiple studies show access to guns contributes to higher firearm-related homicide rates.

In a 2011 interview with Outdoor Life, Lewis said that he's been hunting deer since he "was old enough to keep up in the woods, probably age 4 or 5."

As for what his preferred method of hunting is, Aaron said: "I generally leave the guns at home when I'm hunting deer. It's a lot more challenging to get a deer close enough to dispatch it with a compound or recurve bow. Sometimes I'll use a muzzleloader at the end of the season. And to make the hunt last as long as it can, I'm pretty picky about what I kill."

Asked if the other members of STAIND shared his passion for hunting, Lewis said: "No, no one else in my band is a hunter. The drummer is borderline PETA, so he and I don't talk about it very much. Actually, I make it a point to talk to him about it as much as I can."

THE L.I.F.E. PROJECT, the musical meeting of minds between Grammy-nominated STONE SOUR guitarist Josh Rand and PARALANDRA vocalist/guitarist Casandra Carson, made its live debut on April 30 at The Riff in Springfield, Missouri. Joining Rand and Carson at the gig were keyboardist/backing vocalist Diana Weishaar, bassist Jaron Gulino and drummer Celestino Ramirez.

Several days prior to the show, Carson commented on social media: "It's crazy to think that Josh and I started writing songs together 2 YEARS ago and we're finally taking taking it to the stage! I couldn't be happier with the people we've chosen to join us on this journey. Absolutely incredible musicians and all around great human beings (one of which I might be a little biased towards). Rehearsals have been going amazing, and I truly can't wait for you guys to see the show we've put together! See ya this Saturday in Springfield, MO at The Riff for THE LIFE PROJECT's live debut!"

In a recent interview with HardDrive Radio's Lou Brutus, Rand stated about THE L.I.F.E. PROJECT: "In a sense, it was just something that I started doing a couple of years ago, just writing music myself. And then I just decided I wanted to get a female vocalist, basically, to work on these songs and sing on them. And I found Casandra through a mutual friend — actually, STONE SOUR's A&R person, Dave Rath — and we hit it off. And then we've just been working on stuff for the last two years kind of just here and there. Obviously, with COVID and all that stuff going on in the world, it really restricted going out, so there's really not been a desire to do that up until recently. So now we're gonna end up being a full band and actually play our first show April 30th in Springfield, Missouri, which I'm really excited about finally getting back out there. 'Cause for me, it's been a bit, I guess — like, three years — since I've been on a stage.

"So, that's really what it's about," he continued. "It's just me musically trying different stuff, but also getting back to where I originally came from, as far as my musical journey. So it's kind of getting back to my roots and just having fun with it. That's what THE L.I.F.E. PROJECT is for me — it's a different vehicle to express myself, I guess, artistically with truly no boundaries, but leaning more towards, musically, I think, coming at it as an educated teenager. What I mean by that is it's the fire of that teenager — that drive, that style of music that I was playing 30 years ago — but now doing it with the experience, the knowledge and all that. So it's kind of like revisiting the past, in a way, or going home in some ways."

THE L.I.F.E. PROJECT released a new four-song EP, titled "Big F.O.U.R.", on March 18 via Bloodblast. The collection features a clutch of cover versions, one each from heavy music's pioneering icons METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH and ANTHRAX.

Rand previously stated about the EP: "Recording a 'Big F.O.U.R.' cover EP is something that I have wanted to do for a very very long time, and last fall I decided to finally do it with THE L.I.F.E. PROJECT.

"Without these four bands (METALLICA, MEGADETH, ANTHRAX and SLAYER),my musical career wouldn't be where it is today. In some ways, you could say this project is paying homage to them or, how I see it, a return to where it all started in my parents' house as a teenager trying to learn just a piece of the music.

"Each of the four songs that I picked were pivotal in my development as a musician, whether it was learning the intro to 'One' on guitar, drums on 'Symphony [Of Destruction]' or bass lines in 'Caught In A Mosh'.

"This EP was a true love and passion project for myself. I feel I captured the vibe and the spirit of the original but with THE L.I.F.E. PROJECT sound. Hopefully you hear it too!"

Stylistically, THE L.I.F.E. PROJECT is a fluid combination of classic metal sensibility and Rand's penchant for pushing the boundaries of contemporary heavy.

THE L.I.F.E. PROJECT's debut self-titled EP came out last summer and is available exclusively through the band's webstore or via the Nuclear Blast store.

Josh and Casandra's debut single, "The Nothingness", was featured on several major playlists across streaming platforms, including Rock Hard on Spotify, Breaking Metal on Apple Music, Break Through Rock on Amazon and Metal Radar on Deezer. "The Nothingness" was also included on SiriusXM Octane's "Test Drive" show on release.

Vocalist Zak Tell of the long-running Swedish rap/metal combo CLAWFINGER has apologized for spitting on a photographer during the band's recent concert in the Czech Republic. The incident took place at the Roxy Club in Prague on May 29 at what marked CLAWFINGER's first appearance in the country in four years.

Earlier today, Tell took to CLAWFINGER's social media to share a few photos from the Prague gig, and he included the following message: "Let me tell you about one of my more embarrassing Moments. We played the Roxy Club in Prague a few weeks ago, it was an amazing crowd and we were pretty damn good too if I may say so. I have a tendency to spit alot onstage and sometimes even on myself. For obvious reasons I try to avoid spitting on band members or the audience but this time I misfired and hit a photographer right on the cheek, she was standing up at the front next to my monitor. I felt so embarrassed and I quickly swooped down to wipe her cheek, say I was sorry and give her a beer to make up for my mistake. She looked very surprised and slightly disgusted and rightly so, poor thing. I gave her one more beer later on in the show and then spent the next week or so feeling bad about the whole thing. As she was a photographer I kept my eyes on instagram for shots from the gig and finally one showed up of Bård, I saw that it was a female photographer and that it was taken from close to the stage so I figured it might be her, I sent her a message and BAM, she was the one. I told I was sorry once again and then said that I would love to post her photos on our social medias if she was interested…and here they are. So one final time, Drahoslava Letáková, please accept my sincerest apologies and thank you for the amazing photos!"

This past March, CLAWFINGER released the official music video for its new single, "Environmental Patients". The track marked the first new music from CLAWFINGER in more than two years.

Prior to the arrival of "Environmental Patients", CLAWFINGER released a single called "Tear You Down" in September 2019 and "Save Our Souls" in 2017. "Save Our Souls" was made available four years after CLAWFINGER announced it was calling it quits.

During the break from the studio, the members of CLAWFINGER were reportedly taking care of their families while performing sporadic reunion shows, mostly at European festivals. "CLAWFINGER no longer is our main job," the band explained at the time. "We all have other jobs and families to love."

CLAWFINGER's last studio album, "Life Will Kill You", was released in the U.S. in July 2008 via Locomotive Records. The CD, which entered the German Media Control chart at position No. 89 upon its European release in 2007, was recorded and produced at Sweden's Fear And Loathing Studios, a facility that CLAWFINGER runs along with the members of MESHUGGAH.

CLAWFINGER's debut album, 1993's "Deaf Dumb Blind", included the controversial single "N****r", an anti-racism statement that caused quite a stir and was a massive success.

"Deaf Dumb Blind" sold over 600,000 copies worldwide and was critically acclaimed in Swedish press.

After announcing their signing to Atomic Fire Records, progressive power metal quintet, Induction, unveiled a downright anthem and the first milestone in the row of several singles waiting be unleashed this year with "Sacrifice". Watch a new drum playthrough for the song:

Mixed and mastered by renowned Jacob Hansen, "Sacrifice" draws you right into a refreshing world of soaring vocals, melodic guitars, heavy riffs, and an incredibly catchy chorus that won't leave your brain anytime soon. With this mix of virtuosic progressive twists and symphonic elements, Induction is setting the new status quo of the genre and following the reformation of the band, this song is the first to put listeners to the test, and sets exceedingly high expectations for what’s yet to come.

Originally founded in 2014, the band left their first mark with first single, “The Outwitted Consecration” (2016) before officially entering the metal world with their self-titled debut album in 2019. Its enormously positive reception paved the way to touring across Europe alongside Brazilian power metallers Armored Dawn in November of the same year. It was a notable career start for the quintet that was unfortunately halted by the still-ongoing pandemic ultimately leading to a break (at least on the live front) that was to work on their sophomore album and renew their power. Atomic Fire Records is pleased to welcome Induction and their new lineup - vocalist Craig Cairns (ex-Midnight Prophecy), guitarists Tim Kanoa Hansen and Marcos Rodriguez (ex-Rage), bassist Dominik Gusch, and drummer Kian Kiesling - to its roster.

Quebec City's hardcore scene trailblazers, Get The Shot, have shared the video for "Survival Denied". Watch below. The track and accompanying visual boast a powerful message. It's an anthemic, fist-in-the-air, and groove-centric metal x hardcore jam. And it has a lot to say.





"'Survival Denied' was inspired by the conjunction of two tragic, timeless, and implacable observations made respectively by Thomas Hobbes and Arthur Schopenhauer: Man is a wolf to man, and life is nothing more than a perpetual struggle for mere existence with the certainty of losing it at last," the band states. "In a world that glorifies the pursuit of self-interest and disregards cooperation, everyone becomes a potential enemy, a persecutor in power. There is no way one can lead a good existence in such an alienated and self-destructive life. So this song builds on this fatalistic conclusion: If nothing can save us from ourselves, may we all get what we deserve and may humanity burn in hell."

Asturias, Spain: Starting Point: Bull, leader of Bull and the Bufalos, was born in a small town in northern Spain, Cangas del  Narcea, located in the beautiful state of Asturias. From there, his life has taken him to Madrid, Mexico, Los Angeles and Austin chasing the dream of rock and roll.


The music of Little Richard, Elvis and Eddie Cochram changed his life as a child. As a teenager, he soon founded his first band working hard to buy their first instruments, selling breakfast buns among their neighbors to collect the money. Soon after, they managed to get some nuns to give them a place to rehearse in their monastery. After a few months of feasts and wild rehearsals, the nuns made a curious request: to play during a mass. The mass became a rock homily. The songs of the band resonated throughout Spain due to the unexpected presence of a journalist who published a report on his performance in national newspapers.


Bull y los Búfalos are born in Madrid: Shortly after, Bull moves to Madrid. There he founded Bull y los Búfalos, just one hour after arriving in the city with several musicians from the Madrid rock scene. Its name is due to a National Geographic article dedicated to the buffalo that would describe how they faced the storms to cross them as soon as possible instead of waiting for them to finish. It was the attitude he wanted to express in his music and in his band.

Alternating music and different jobs, Bull opens an Adventure Off-Roading Company. This company absorbed most of the Bull’s time with frequent trips to the Sahara desert in North Africa, the beaches of Portugal, and the mountains of Spain. Finally, Bull decided to devote himself completely to his musical project and took it to the other side of the ocean. First stop: Mexico.


The Mexican Adventure: No friends, no contacts, no place to stay, but even with those conditions, Bull lived three years of pure Rock & Roll in the Mexican capital, Mexico City. He found brilliant Mexican musicians who he toured with incessantly throughout the country performing for big crowds at Harley Davidson events and participating in Biker Rallies such as Mazatlan Motorcycle Week with an astounding show to 18,000 motorcyclists.


They also launched their second album Más tiempo que vida, mastered by Vlado Meller, mastering engineer of Metallica, Rolling Stones, Kid Rock…


After many kilometers of road alternating big and small venues, a lot of adventures, some of them kind of dangerous… he said goodbye to his Mexican experience playing at the MotoFiesta de León for 25,000 spectators. Behind were songs, video clips, press tours and an extensive tour, but also a fascination for the Mexican culture that accompanies him in his songs and his tattoos. We are in 2014, next step… USA!


USA: Bull arrives in Austin Texas in November 2014, where inmideately felt very inspired by the Texas Blues Rock music and Country sounds. With just a suitcase, a guitar and a few dollars the beginnings were hard. Trying to get a work Visa was the first task. Finally he got honored with the artist Visa “Extraordinary abilities in the art of music” and starts playing in 2015. After that, he recruits new musicians and records his first full English album Animal .The band didn’t stop since that, releasesing different singles and music videos, like “Hasta que la Muerte nos separe (Till death do us part)” where western music meets Rock and Roll or “Alone with the King” an Elvis Presley tribute song about a trip Bull made to Graceland were he had the luck to visit the King’s mansion just by himself.


The English and Spanish crossover set him apart from the other Texas Rock bands and has led him to perform in the NBA playoffs at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, in major festivals such as the SXSW, and in different Biker events throughout Texas including ROT Rally.  


During a brief stint in Los Angeles in 2018, Bull y los Búfalos opened for Dizzy Reed, keyboardist of Guns N' Roses, in the legendary Whisky a Go-Go and performed in various L.A. venues.  


2019 was a great year, Bull ends up being sponsored by "Gibson USA" and "Lethal Threat  Designs" a biker clothing brand from New York. They were awarded “Best Hard Rock Band in Texas” by the prestigious MXD Magazine - Dallas, Texas. Also, on September 3, FX broadcasted the premiere of the second season of Mayans MC in the United States with Bull y Los Búfalos as part of the soundtrack. Mayans MC is more than a TV show, it is a worldwide icon. The series is the sequel to the award-winning Sons of Anarchy and has had a successful public and critical reception that has made it one of the top series of the  year.


With three studio albums and several singles and music videos, in January 2020, they launched Handmade - Live in Texas, recorded in Austin,TX. Their first live album where you can hear and feel their powerful live performance.


Pandemic Break… Bad times for everyone, specially for the music industry. Bull decides to minimalize his life style and expenses. He goes to primitive camping in Lake Georgetown, Texas. There, into the wild, Bull finds the necessary inspiration to write new songs and also record a demo with just a hand recorder. That demo leads to the new EP, Fury.


There is still a long way to go for Bull and his Buffalos, many battles to fight. A route that began more than 5000 miles from the United States and that has taken him to explore the wildest and most honest face of rock, demonstrating something that Diego “Bull” often points out: Rock and Roll is for the brave.

Atlanta, GA-based group, Pistols At Dawn, deliver hard-hitting hooks, magnetic melodies and intricate instrumentation with old school arena-size ambition on their debut studio album, Ascension, due August 19 via Megaforce/MRI Entertainment.


After independently amassing over 6 million streams across streaming and video platforms via previously released singles from their debut 2021 EP Nocturnal Youth, Pistols At Dawn returned to the studio to work with Grammy Award-winning producer and engineer Sylvia Massy (Tool, System Of A Down, Johnny Cash) on the new release.

“‘The Truth’ revolves the around the constant noise we have in our head pushing and pulling our emotions so much that we sometimes lose total control and explode,” explains drummer Adam Jaffe. “We have to be careful to maintain our thoughts and emotions, or ‘The Truth’ is that they could ‘tear us apart.’ The inspiration behind the music video was to show the constant emotional pinball game our minds play on us privately, coupled with the explosive reality of what can happen if we are truly triggered into chaos.”


Jaffe further remarks on adding Hodges to the lineup: “Cris Hodges joining PAD can only be equated to what it must have felt like when Taylor Hakwins joined Foo Fighters or Grohl joined Nirvana. Pistols At Dawn were originally formed in 2015 but disintegrated after the tragic passing of guitarist Mike Buffa in 2018. They reformed in 2019 before releasing Nocturnal Youth in 2021 which was recorded with Jeff Tomei (Smashing Pumpkins, Matchbox 20). With live music at a halt due to the global pandemic, the band engaged fans worldwide with an immersive online campaign for the EP’s singles “Cold” “Voices,” “Crown,” and “Now Is The Time” which exploded with over 2 million Spotify streams and 6 million video streams combined.

Currently celebrating A Crystal Vision with their 35th Anniversary Tour, Sacred Oath have announced that they will be performing a special "one night only" concert in New York with Attacker and the recently reunited all-female thrash band, Meanstreak.




All three bands were signed to the Mercenary Records label in 1987 and released their debut albums just prior to the label folding in 1989. This is the first time all three bands will perform on the same stage together.


“I heard about the Meanstreak reunion and reached out to Rena (Petrucci) right away,” said Rob Thorne of Sacred Oath. “I thought a ‘Mercenary Records Night’ would be a cool show, and it looks like this will be the very first show for Meanstreak in almost 30 years. We’re excited about the whole thing, all of it.”





Sacred Oath (CT), Meanstreak (NY), and Attacker (NJ) were up-and-coming bands to watch in 1988, frequently playing the NYC metro area metal clubs such as L’Amour and Streets. The Manhattan-based Mercenary Records signed each of them and released their debut albums worldwide via Celluloid before folding in 1989. Sacred Oath and Attacker have continued to perform and release albums since then, but Meanstreak broke up in 1994. A reunion was announced in early 2022.


“Of course we’ll be playing through the entire A Crystal Vision album at this show,” says Thorne. “The whole evening will be a trip down metal memory lane. I can’t wait.”


The show is happening Saturday, August 27 at 6 PM at Sovereign, 173 Morgan Ave in Brooklyn, NY and tickets are now on sale and available through dice.fm.

Jeff Beck and Johnny Depp have released a visualizer for their cover of The Velvet Underground's "Venus In Furs", featured on the duo's upcoming 18 album. Watch below:





Jeff Beck found a kindred spirit in Johnny Depp when the two met in 2016. They bonded quickly over cars and guitars and spent most of their time together trying to make each other laugh. At the same time, Beck’s appreciation grew for Depp’s serious songwriting skills and his ear for music. That talent and their chemistry convinced Beck they should make an album together.




Depp agreed and they started in 2019. Over the next three years, they recorded a mix of Depp originals along with a wide range of covers that touches on everything from Celtic and Motown to the Beach Boys and Killing Joke. In 2020, during the pandemic, they previewed their collaboration with their well-timed cover of John Lennon’s “Isolation”.


The duo’s 13-track album, dubbed 18, will arrive on July 15. Beck explains the album title: “When Johnny and I started playing together, it really ignited our youthful spirit and creativity. We would joke about how we felt 18 again so that just became the album title too.”


18 will be available on CD and digitally, with a 180-gram black vinyl version coming on September 30. The cover features an illustration of Beck and Depp as 18-year-olds that was drawn and designed by Beck’s wife, Sandra.


Leading up to the release of 18, Beck has launched a European tour, with Depp as a special guest, which will conclude on July 25 at L’Olympia in Paris.


For the last 12 years Depp has recorded and toured with the Hollywood Vampires, a band he started with Alice Cooper and Joe Perry. The supergroup has released two studio albums that include guest appearances by some of rock's biggest names: Paul McCartney, Dave Grohl, and Joe Walsh. The list also includes Beck, who played guitar on “Welcome To Bushwackers,” a song on Rise, the Vampires’ second album, which came out in 2019.


Soon after, Depp asked Beck to play lead on a tune he’d written, the album’s first single, “This Is A Song For Miss Hedy Lamarr,” an homage to the actress/inventor. Beck says it was the catalyst for the collaboration and is one of his favorite songs on the new album. “I was blown away by it,” he says. “That song is one of the reasons I asked him to make an album with me.” The track is available today digitally, along with an accompanying music video (see below).


Of Beck, Depp adds, “It’s an extraordinary honor to play and write music with Jeff, one of the true greats and someone I am now privileged enough to call my brother.”


In the studio, Beck says he and Depp challenged each other to leave their comfort zones with the songs they chose to cover. “I haven’t had another creative partner like him for ages,” Beck says. “He was a major force on this record. I just hope people will take him seriously as a musician because it’s a hard thing for some people to accept that Johnny Depp can sing rock and roll.”


Depp justifies Beck’s faith on the new album by showing off his incredible emotional range on songs like The Velvet Underground’s “Venus In Furs,” the Everly Brothers’ ballad “Let It Be Me” and Marvin Gaye’s soul classic “What’s Going On.” On the instrumentals, Beck demonstrates why he’s universally revered as a guitar god with stunning versions of Davy Spillane’s “Midnight Walker” and two songs from the Beach Boys’ masterpiece, Pet Sounds – “Caroline, No” and “Don’t Talk (Put Your Head On My Shoulder).”

"This Is A Song For Miss Hedy Lamarr" video:

MEGADETH is teasing a June 23 release date for what will apparently be the first single from the band's upcoming album, "The Sick, The Dying And The Dead". A captionless image was shared on MEGADETH's social media earlier today featuring the numbers "6:23", referring to the aforementioned date.

During an appearance at last weekend's Download festival in the United Kingdom, MEGADETH leader Dave Mustaine told the crowd that the single would arrive on July 23 (see video below), but it is now believed that he misspoke and gave the wrong month. Mustaine also revealed that "The Sick, The Dying And The Dead" will now be released in September, after he previously said the LP was expected on July 8.

The follow-up to 2016's "Dystopia", "The Sick, The Dying And The Dead" features a cover of DEAD KENNEDYS' "Police Truck" and Sammy Hagar's "This Planet's On Fire", the latter of which includes vocals from Hagar himself.

This past March, Mustaine told SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk" about the upcoming MEGADETH album: "I know that we've got a single that is gonna be serviced to radio any day now. It's a song called 'Killing Time'. Obviously, that's [written about] somebody in my past, but it's not as obvious as it sounds; it's wasting your time, not time to kill things. And it had to do with some of the situations that myself and the different band guys have gotten themselves into with the band over time. And I'm sure a lot of people are gonna relate with that. So that one, it's gonna be sent to radio, gosh, any day now."

Dave also said that he hoped to open some of the upcoming MEGADETH shows with a new song called "Night Stalker". "It's got some sounds in it that is something we're gonna incorporate into the beginning of our show," he said. "And it's a track that we have… my buddy Ice-T had guested on."

Mustaine spoke in more detail about "Night Stalker" in a separate interview with Jose Mangin of SiriusXM Liquid Metal. He said: "It's a brutal song. I can't remember if that was the fastest one [on the new album] or not. But 'Night Stalker' is about the 160th Battalion with the United States Army, and it's all the black-ops helicopters that go in at night — nobody knows they're there; they're in, they're out. And I had my buddy Ice-T join me on a part in the middle of it, because Ice was a ranger for the army, and he did two tours over in Afghanistan, I think it was. I think that was back in '91, when I first met him. It might have been a little earlier than that, but I know he was a ranger. And I had just done something on his last record. But when I asked him, I thought it would be great to have him because of his bravado and then the fact that he's got real credibility as someone who was there. And then we've got several other guys to participate in the track just to make it as real as possible. We're going up to the base to go film a bunch of helicopter footage and sounds and stuff like that. We've got three videos that we're making for this record right now down in Brazil, and we're combining all that production and the stuff from the base, with the helicopters and everything together, to make this first three-song video offering up."

Regarding Hagar's contribution to "This Planet's On Fire", Mustaine told "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk": "It's a super-heavy song. And the good thing about this [is] we didn't just do the song; [Sammy] played on it too. So we've got a little bit of some guitar; we've got a lot of bit of singing. I think it's super badass."

As for MEGADETH's decision to cover "Police Truck", Mustaine said: "It's no secret I'm a big DEAD KENNEDYS fan, and I had wanted to do 'Holiday In Cambodia', but my friends in LÄÄZ ROCKIT had done that, and I felt that [I would] just let them have their glory off of that rendition of that song, and if the time comes, I'm sure there's another song that'll stick out to me. And there was — it was the song 'Police Truck'. So we recorded that one."

Earlier this year, Mustaine confirmed that TESTAMENT bassist Steve DiGiorgio laid down the bass tracks on "The Sick, The Dying And The Dead".

There had been speculation about DiGiorgio's involvement in the new MEGADETH LP since last July, based on a Cameo video Mustaine recorded in which he offered the first glimpse of the bassist that re-recorded David Ellefson's bass tracks on the much-anticipated MEGADETH effort.

DiGiorgio is widely renowned as a pioneer on the fretless bass in heavy metal music, having played with TESTAMENT, DEATH and SADUS, among others. Within his genre, Steve is respected for his playing skills, versatility and incredible technique. He has more than 40 studio album recordings and over 20 years of touring the world.

Last month, MEGADETH announced bass player James LoMenzo as a permanent member of the band. LoMenzo was MEGADETH's bass player in the mid-2000s and recently stepped back in as a touring member for "The Metal Tour Of The Year".

LoMenzo joined MEGADETH in 2006 and appeared on two of the group's studio albums, 2007's "United Abominations" and 2009's "Endgame". He was fired from the band in 2010 and replaced with returning original MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson.

In addition to MEGADETH, LoMenzo has played with Ozzy Osbourne, Zakk Wylde and WHITE LION. For the past nine years, LoMenzo has been performing with iconic rocker John Fogerty.

LoMenzo played his first show with MEGADETH in nearly 12 years last August in Austin, Texas. The concert took place three months following Ellefson's dismissal from MEGADETH after sexually tinged messages and explicit video footage involving him were posted on Twitter.

Ellefson laid down his bass tracks on MEGADETH's sixteenth LP in May 2020 at a studio in Nashville, Tennessee. A short time later, he raved about his performance on the record, telling the 96.7 KCAL-FM radio program "Wired In The Empire" that his musical chemistry with Verbeuren was comparable to the interplay between Geddy Lee and Neil Peart on classic RUSH albums. "I feel like on the new MEGADETH record, me and Dirk have those same moments," he said. "It's MEGADETH — it's not RUSH, obviously — but in the field of what we do, there were these moments that I was just going, 'Oh, my God.' In June 2021, Mustaine announced during an episode of his Gimme Radio program "The Dave Mustaine Show" that Ellefson's bass tracks would not be used on the new MEGADETH LP.

Ellefson was in MEGADETH from the band's inception in 1983 to 2002, and again from 2010 until his latest departure.
