BODYSNATCHER Release "E.D.A." From New Album Bleed-Abide, Due In AprilMelbourne, Florida-based brutal deathcore outfit, Bodysnatcher, has issued a video for "E.D.A.", which can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's new album, Bleed-Abide, set to hit store shelves on April 22nd.
"E.D.A."'s complex structure and dark subject matter complement its untethered aggression, while also showcasing more progressive and refined writing. The track’s breakdown highlights vocalist Kyle Medina’s most brutal performance to date, a crushing example of why Bodysnatcher is bearing deathcore’s torch.
“'E.D.A.' Is a song about the feelings I dealt with from the passing of my mom," says guitarist Kyle Carter. "It talks about how I felt robbed and that I didn’t even know the real person she was, because I was only 12 when she died. It talks about how it feels like her death has defined who I am in so many ways, but I don’t even remember her fully. It’s a tough subject for me even still and it’s very frustrating and confusing. I feel very strongly about this song and I hope it helps anyone who might feel a similar way.”
“Bleed-Abide is the ultimate culmination of what the band has been building for years and I believe the best material to date,” says vocalist Kyle Medina. “The instrumentals have matured and become heavier hitting more than ever, and the lyrics dig deeper personally and are more relatable than This Heavy Void.”
Bleed-Abide artwork and tracklisting:
"Bleed"
"Abide"
"Absolved Of The Strings And Stone"
"Smashed Perception"
"Flatline"
"Glass Prison"
"Value Through Suffering"
"Chaos"
"E.D.A."
"Wired For Destruction"
"Hollow Shell"
"Behind The Crowd"
"The Question"

RUTHLESS Signs With Skol Records And Gabriel Management, New Album In The WorksUS heavy metal veterans Ruthless inked a double deal with Skol Records and their twin company Gabriel Management, and started pre-production process of the new studio album, Soldiers Of Steel, scheduled for the release in the last months of 2022.
The Los Angeles based act debuted in 1984, and released two classic studio albums back in the day, Metal Without Mercy and Discipline Of Steel which came out in 1986. The band broke up in 1988, to return in 2015 with new album, They Rise, which was followed by a split single with Bay Area thrashers Hexx in 2016, and another new album, Evil Within, released in 2019.
"We are very excited to sign this deal with Skol Records and Gabriel Management, Bart has been a good friend over the years. We did our split single in 2016 with him, and now we are looking forward to our new adventure with Skol Records and Gabriel Management. Soldiers Of Steel is coming, see you all soon!" comments Ruthless co-founder, vocalist Sammy DeJohn.
"I absolutely love the band and their classic albums, but I also managed to see them live in more recent years: their energy is just amazing," says Skol Records & Gabriel Management CEO, Bart Gabriel. "It's the first time ever that we offered any band this kind of double deal: except signing them to Skol Records and taking care of their new music, we will now also represent the band via Gabriel Management. We share the same passion and vision when it comes to heavy metal, so I'm sure we will do a couple of great things together!"

RICHIE FAULKNER Says Some Material JUDAS PRIEST Is Working On For Next Album Is 'A Bit More Progressive' Than 'Firepower'In a new interview with Jimmy Kay and Alan Dixon of Canada's The Metal Voice, JUDAS PRIEST guitarist Richie Faulkner spoke about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the band's follow-up to 2018's "Firepower" album. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Since the 'Firepower' tour, we all went our separate ways, like we do, and we've always got ideas coming up; me, Rob [Halford, vocals] and Glenn [Tipton, guitar], we sort of start to put ideas down. And we got together in early 2020 — me, Rob and Glenn; and [co-producer and touring guitarist] Andy Sneap was there as well — and we pooled all our ideas together and we started the first writing session. So we got together a batch of songs that were by no means finished, but they were developed enough that we could call them songs. So we could give them working titles. They were demos, if that makes sense. So we had a batch of demos. And then since then, we've been trying to find an opportunity where we can all get together and develop 'em further and record them. But, obviously, with the restrictions of the lockdown and the pandemic…"
He continued: "We wanna be together as a band to iron out those creases. If the three of us got together with a group of songs and we played them together, it's, like, 'Oh, that one needs a bit of fat trimmed there,' 'That's too long' or 'We need to put some more guitar solos in there.' It becomes evident when you play together what songs need. So we've been looking for an opportunity to do that. It's been tough with the travel restrictions — some of us live over here; some of us live over there — so it's been tough. But we have started recording some and getting it put together with those restrictions, because we wanna get it done, but it's obviously taking longer than we'd like, really, because of the pandemic. Obviously, now we've got the tour coming up and hopefully we can get on the road and stay on the road, so we're gonna work around that flow. So I wouldn't like to say when it's gonna be finished and when it's gonna be out, but we are working on it and we are dedicated to getting it done, getting those songs down and then getting it out to the world. But, obviously, we're nowhere near a release date, but we are dedicated on working on it and getting it done to the best of our ability, for sure."
As for the musical direction of the new PRIEST material, Faulkner said: "Whenever you start a record, you never know how it's gonna turn out. So you might start with an idea of what it's gonna be, and as it kind of rolls on, it comes out something different. So you don't quite know. And also it's really hard to sum up your own music, I find, without sounding really pretentious. But I think this one — it's not 'Firepower 2', I don't think. It's its own thing, it's its own animal. If anything, I would say it's a bit more progressive in places, and in places it's got a bit more of that 'Killing Machine' swagger."
Faulkner added: "I know everyone says, 'Oh, is it the next 'Painkiller'?' or 'Is it the next…?' whatever… I don't know if they'd ever done it, but I know we've never done it when I've been in the band; we've never tried to recreate an album. It's always we try to create an album that stands on its own legs. So I think it's definitely a little bit more progressive than 'Firepower' and, as I said, in places it's got a little bit of that 'Killing Machine' angry swagger attitude going on. But again, as I said, we're waiting to see what it turns out like, 'cause it could turn out completely different."
Last March, Halford confirmed that PRIEST's next album will see the band reuniting with the "Firepower" production team consisting of Sneap, longtime collaborator Tom Allom and engineer Mike Exeter (BLACK SABBATH).
Tipton was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease eight years ago after being stricken by the condition at least half a decade earlier. Tipton announced in early 2018 he was going to sit out touring activities in support of "Firepower". He was replaced by Sneap, who is also known for his work in NWOBHM revivalists HELL and cult thrash outfit SABBAT.
Bassist Ian Hill is the sole remaining original member of PRIEST, which formed in 1969. Halford joined the group in 1973 and Tipton signed on in 1974. Rob left PRIEST in the early 1990s to form his own band, then came back to PRIEST in 2003. Founding guitarist K.K. Downing parted ways with the band in 2011, and was replaced by Faulkner.
Some of the other members of PRIEST have also dealt with various health setbacks in recent years. Halford recently publicly revealed that he battled prostate cancer during the pandemic. He previously mentioned his cancer battle in the new chapter added to the updated paperback edition of his autobiography, "Confess". In "Confess", Halford revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer after experiencing symptoms for at least a couple of years.
In July 2020, Rob underwent prostatectomy, an operation where the entire prostate gland is removed plus some of the tissue around it, including the seminal vesicles. After more cancer was found earlier this year, he went through radiation treatments in April and May and eventually got then all-clear in June. He also had an appendectomy after a tumor was discovered on his appendix.
Faulkner suffered an acute cardiac aortic dissection during the band's performance at the Louder Than Life festival in late September. Faulkner was rushed to the UofL Health - Jewish Hospital where the cardiothoracic surgery team needed approximately 10 hours to complete a life-saving surgery. 2

Watch ANTHRAX's SCOTT IAN Play KORN's 'Here To Stay' With His 10-Year-Old SonANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian was joined by his 10-year-old son Revel Young Ian on drums as they performed a rendition of the KORN classic "Here To Stay" for an Instagram video which Scott shared on Thursday (February 17).
Scott captioned the clip: "HERE TO STAY – you're goddamned right! Another crusher of a RIFF to jam in the garage."
Scott previously shared videos of him and Revel performing the SEPULTURA songs "Roots Bloody Roots" and "Territory", as well as the SYSTEM OF A DOWN classic "Bounce".
Revel is apparently a gifted multi-instrumentalist who joined the FOO FIGHTERS on stage in September 2019 at the Bourbon & Beyond festival in Louisville, Kentucky to perform "Everlong" on guitar when he was just eight years old.
Back in 2014, Ian told Horns Up Rocks that his then-three-old son was a big fan of METALLICA, THE BEATLES and AC/DC and that he could already tell the difference between Bon Scott's voice and that of Brian Johnson.
"He knows a lot of the stuff that he hears or sees in the house," Scott said at the time. "But what's really cool is that he actually recognizes and knows the difference between Bon Scott and Brian Johnson, which is pretty cool, I think, for an almost three-year-old. Anytime AC/DC is on, he'll go, 'That's Bon singing.' And then when it's not Bon, he'll say, 'That's not Bon singing.' He knows. That's pretty cool, I think."
Asked whether metal musicians should be parents, Ian said it was the best thing that had ever happened to him. He added: "I think you have to take that on a case-by-case basis. I couldn't say enough about having a child; I think it's the greatest thing ever in the whole world. But I do think that there are a lot of people on this planet, not necessarily metal musicians, that shouldn't be parents."

ARCHIE CAINE To Release “Eden” Single Feat. Former XANDRIA Singer DIANNE VAN GIERSBERGENOn January 25th UK singer Archie Caine announced his new single “Eden”, featuring Dianne van Giersbergen (ex-Libris, Ayreon, ex-Xandria).
The first single from his upcoming debut album Tommy And The Angels “Eden” is available to pre-save/pre-order now with the full album available for pre save here. The album also features Threshold’s Damian Wilson.
“‘Eden’ is a song about hope after despair, a theme that is woven through the entire album” shares Caine on the single. “It’s an inspirational idea to me that no matter how dark things seem there can always be ‘angels in disguise’, and that nobody is ever truly alone. It’s very much a concept album - the whole idea came from a specific melody I dreamed, and grew organically from that.”
He continues, “Being able to work with artists like Damian Wilson and Dianne van Giersbergen is absolutely a dream come true; as was composing the album with my best friends.”
Tommy And The Angels was composed primarily over Zoom with Bo Wilde and Holly Nichol during a year of lockdowns.
Instrument tracking took place both in their home studio in the UK, and in Paraguay by Adrian Benegas. The album was then mixed and mastered under the auspices of Joost van den Broek at Sandlane Recording Facilities in the Netherlands.
Archie Caine is the natural result of a childhood of singing lessons set to a background of Nightwish, Evanescence, Paramore, and My Chemical Romance. His powerful voice blends emotively with technical proficiency and is inspired beyond all else by the women of rock and metal. “Eden” is his first release under his own name.

RUBY THE HATCHET Announce Live At Earthquaker EPAfter a five-year wait for new music, Ruby The Hatchet are premiering the track “1000 Years” from their new EP Live At Earthquaker, their first outing for Magnetic Eye Records. The three-track set is scheduled for release on April 22, with pre-sales commencing today.
Live At Earthquaker features early organic and raw versions of two brand-new songs recorded entirely live at EarthQuaker Devices headquarters in Akron, Ohio during the band's US tour with Kadavar, with the cherry on top being the physical format debut of their raucous version of Uriah Heep's ‘70s anthem 'Easy Livin’'. The EP's two new songs will reappear in fully-produced recordings on the New Jersey riff-rockers' new studio album that has been announced for 2022.
The video clip for “1000 Years” was recorded live and produced at EarthQuaker Devices and is streaming below. Find preorders here.
Ruby The Hatchet comment: "Our first foray with Magnetic Eye Records is going to be a major ear-tease, showcasing an in-studio live session recorded at Earthquaker Headquarters of two new songs from our upcoming studio full-length", says singer Jillian Taylor. "We had been road-dogging for a few years straight and felt very much in the pocket. As we tested out new material throughout the tour, these two songs were fan favorites every night. 'Primitive Man' is an in-the-pocket groover that everyone gets to riff on. '1,000 Years' is an emotionally long-winding melodic ballad that had me sharing tears with strangers in the crowd as we closed our set with it each night. Jeff France and the Earthquaker crew captured us at the height of our tour tightness, and we love that these songs were captured live with footage from EQ and exist in their own realm, apart from their studio versions which came a year later. Oddly enough, our cover of 'Easy Livin'' was also tracked live and without computers, so it only felt right for it to make a vinyl debut along with our other raw cuts. This live session deserved a special release of its own, and we cannot wait to get it out and build some excitement for what's to come on our new album."
Tracklisting:
“1000 Years”
“Primitive Man”
“Easy Livin’” (Uriah Heep cover)
“1000 Years”:
Line-up:
Jillian Taylor – vocals
Johnny Scarps – guitar
Lake Muir – bass
Owen Stewart – drums, vocals
Sean Hur – keyboards, organ

SLASH: Partnering With GIBSON RECORDS On '4' Album 'Sounded Like A Match Made In Heaven'SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS' new album, "4", was released on February 11 via Gibson Records in partnership with BMG, "4" is Slash's fifth solo album and fourth overall with his band featuring Myles Kennedy (vocals), Brent Fitz (drums), Todd Kerns (bass, vocals) and Frank Sidoris (guitar, vocals).
"4" has the history-making distinction of being the first-ever album to be released on the new Gibson Records label, which is headquartered in the iconic American instrument brand Gibson's hometown of Music City, Nashville. In light of the 30-year partnership between Gibson and the Grammy Award-winning Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee Slash, it made sense for the new SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS' album to be made available via Gibson Records.
Speaking to iHeartRadio about his partnership with Gibson Records, Slash said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "We were looking for an alternative situation than the one we had previous. So we were thinking of different ideas. We were sort of a free agent; we weren't contractually obligated to anybody. [And we thought] 'What are we gonna do next?' And then my manager and I had a conversation. He mentioned, 'Gibson might be interested in being a label.' And as soon as I heard that, I thought, 'That could be a really amazing fucking idea.' Because not coming at it from a typical label mentality, and at the same time having the business savvy to know how to work a record, it just seemed like… And also just 'cause I have had such a great relationship with Gibson for so long anyway, and we'd be the first record on the new label, it just sounded like a match made in heaven. So I said, 'Let's do that.'"
Regarding how the collaboration with Gibson Records has worked out so far, Slash said: "It's as new for me as it is for Gibson, but I just know that the heart's in the right place, so my expectation is that we'll do everything we can to do it right. And I know that there's a lot of enthusiasm behind putting it out there and making sure everybody knows about it, which is one of the most important things about releasing a record anyway — is just making sure that everybody's aware that it's there. And that seems to be pretty high on the priorities list for Gibson. So I just think we're gonna do the best that we possibly can do as a collective unit between myself and my people and Gibson and everybody there, just to put it out and get it into people's ears."
In October, SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS released the official music video for the LP's first single, "The River Is Rising", shot on location in downtown Los Angeles with Gibson TV director Todd Harapiak.
For "4", Slash and the band traveled across the country together to Nashville, Tennessee and recorded the new album at the historic RCA Studio A with producer Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, John Prine, Jason Isbell, Brandi Carlile), revealing a stunning new sound and style all captured live in the studio. Cobb shared the band's desire to lay down the tracks live, in the studio including guitar solos and vocals — a first for the group.
SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS kicked off a North American headlining tour on February 8, in Portland, Oregon. The trek will hit 28 major cities, including Los Angeles, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, Denver, Nashville, Dallas, Austin, Houston, and more, before wrapping up March 26 in Orlando, Florida.

Watch MICHAEL ANTHONY Sing DAVID LEE ROTH-Era VAN HALEN Classics With SAMMY HAGAR & THE CIRCLEFan-filmed video of SAMMY HAGAR & THE CIRCLE performing the VAN HALEN classics "Runnin' With The Devil" and "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love" live this past Saturday, February 12 as part of Hagar's 2022 "Sammy Hagar & Friends" residency at The STRAT Hotel, Casino & SkyPod can be seen below. Handling lead vocals on the David Lee Roth-era VH songs was THE CIRCLE's Michael Anthony, who was also a member of VAN HALEN's classic lineup.
In a 2014 interview with the "Lamont And Tonelli Show", which airs on the Bay Area rock station 107.7 The Bone, Anthony was told by the radio hosts that he is such a great lead singer in his own right that he could probably front his own band. "Yeah, you know, but I don't need that kind of pressure on me," he responded. "Lead singers, they're their own breed."
He added: "It wasn't until the fourth or fifth VAN HALEN record that people would go, 'Wow! You're singing backgrounds on those records. That's not David Lee Roth.' And I go, 'Hell, no! That's not David Lee Roth.'"
Asked which classic VAN HALEN song he would pick to sing lead vocals on, if he had to choose one, Anthony said: "Ahh…. Oh my God… I sang 'Somebody Get Me A Doctor'. That actually goes over quite well. But I don't know… Man, I'd sing any of 'em. I could sing any of that crap. C'mon! I can sing it all. [Laughs]"
Back in 2013, VAN HALEN singer David Lee Roth spoke to Rolling Stone magazine about the touchy subject of Anthony potentially replacing then-VAN HALEN bassist — and Eddie Van Halen's son — Wolfgang Van Halen. He said: "Ed has his own vision, I'm assuming. We haven't really been able to speak about it and it's a disappointment, just as not having a chance for a reunion of the original band. Clearly, vocals are every bit as much a component of success as a rhythm section or a guitar solo… What we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever — that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in EARTH, WIND & FIRE, as identifiable as the high voice in the BEACH BOYS. VAN HALEN is an indelicate house blend of both — that's intentionally."
In October 2011, Sammy Hagar accused VAN HALEN of using tapes of backing vocals originally done by Anthony on its 2007/2008 reunion tour, for which Anthony was replaced by Wolfgang. Hagar told Attention Deficit Delirium, "Those vocal harmonies on the last tour were Mike on tape. Mike should've reamed them for it. Wolfie don't sing like that, and Ed sure as hell don't. Go on the Internet and listen to Ed's voice live from the reunion with me. Hear him sing on 'When It's Love' and some of those songs. Ed can't sing, and his voice is shot if he can, from cigarettes and booze anyway."
Anthony and Hagar both last played with VAN HALEN on a 2004 reunion tour that ended acrimoniously. Both later claimed that Anthony was booted from VAN HALEN for maintaining a friendship and working relationship with Hagar.
A few years ago, Hagar told The Pulse Of Radio that he thinks VAN HALEN made a grave mistake leaving Anthony out of the reunion tour with Roth. "Anyone in their right mind would know if you're gonna get Roth back finally. after all these abortions they've had, you get Mikey and you do the reunion tour, what the world really was waiting for. Not just fuck it up again. It's almost like they don't care about their fans. They just want to badger them until — see how much they'll take."

Two years ago, IRON MAIDEN bassist Steve Harris reflected on the pressure he and his bandmates felt while writing and recording "The Number Of The Beast". He said during an appearance on SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk": "It was the fact that we'd used up the material, pretty much, from the times before that. Before the first album [1980's 'Iron Maiden'], it was a four-and-a-half-year period before we got signed and all that. And so we had a lot of material that we were doing that was already there, playing in the live set, so we recorded all that. And the second album [1981's 'Killers'] was only, I think, three new songs that were on that album, 'cause the rest of it was stuff we'd been playing [live] as well. So when you get to the third album, it's, like, 'What are we gonna do now?' But that pressure was pretty fierce pressure, and we didn't have a lot of time either. Back in those days, it was just album-tour, album-tour and whatever, and it just worked. So we thought, 'You know what? That worked really well. We'll do the same thing again.' … It has to be done. And if you've got a tour coming after it, that's it — it has to be done."
Released in March 1982, "The Number Of The Beast" was IRON MAIDEN's first LP to feature vocalist Bruce Dickinson and the songwriting contributions of guitarist Adrian Smith, who had joined the band two years earlier.
"Obviously, all those elements all thrown into one, it was a pretty scary time in a way, but it was also therapeutic in the sense that we actually went in and just had to come up with the goods," Steve said. "It's, like, 'That's it. It's crunch time. You've gotta do i

Today, Soulline presents the official video for "Against Myself", the second single from Screaming Eyes. Marco, guitarist of the band, declares: "With 'Against Myself', the story of our common hero continues, and after a period of discouragement, he gets up again. The desire for revenge is very strong, but it is also very easy to fall back into the abyss. It only takes a second to erase all efforts. The song is a dark and powerful reflection on the eternal struggle between angel and demon: 'Do I give up or do I fight back?'."
