SKID ROW Releases Music Video For 'Resurrected'

SKID ROW has released the official music video for "Resurrected", the fifth single from the band's latest album, "The Gang's All Here".

SKID ROW was never a band that was going to let anything get in its way, and the "Resurrected" clip takes that idea to the ultimate next level. Directed by Frank Gryner, who has created eye-popping videos for ALICE COOPER and DEF LEPPARD, and from an original concept by SKID ROW bassist Rachel Bolan, the video captures the band in a new environment, showcasing their versatility as they confidently tackle a formidable challenge.

"Being a fan of animation, I was very excited when the opportunity to do an animated video was presented to us," recalls Bolan. "I really wanted to give the video a sci-fi feel that would convey that you can conquer anything, no matter how big the monster. Even if it lives within the parameter of your inner circle."

In a recent interview with Tulsa Music Stream, SKID ROW guitarist Dave "Snake" Sabo was asked if he and his bandmates have begun work on material for the follow-up to "The Gang's All Here". The LP marked SKID ROW's recording debut with Swedish singer Erik Grönwall, who joined the group in January 2022 as the replacement for ZP Theart.

"We've written a few things, getting Erik involved as well," Snake said. "We've toured quite a bit, so that takes up… We're not really adept at writing on the road; we're pretty crappy at it, actually. One thing that we do do is we come up with soundcheck riffs and we utilize those riffs. And when we have, when we go, 'Okay. Let's start writing for the next record,' we'll stop touring for a while and really get down to it and start getting in a room and shutting the door and shutting the phones off and cranking them out."

Sabo continued: "We're still old school, man. It's, like, we record these riffs on the dictaphone. And then I can remember we had built this studio at my house in New Jersey years ago, this big-ass studio. And Rachel [Bolan, SKID ROW bassist] and I would be in the live room and we'd come up with an idea. And instead of hitting the tape machine or something like that, we both just lie instinctively pulled out our dictaphones. And we looked at each other, like, 'What? We just spent this crazy amount of money building this studio, and we're still [using a] dictaphone.' The iPhone is our dictaphone now. So it's actually really cool to sit there and be able to get in a room after you're done touring and stuff like that, and go back and listen to these riffs. And you look at the date and you're, like, 'Oh my God. All right. That was soundcheck in Seattle,' or 'That was soundcheck in Boise.' There's something that attaches itself to that, and that helps to spur the creative process. It kind of reminds me, or it reminds you, as a writer, of where you were at that particular moment when this came to you, and then potentially what it could be. It's an exciting process."

Two months ago, SKID ROW postponed the third North American leg of "The Gang's All Here" tour with BUCKCHERRY until early next year. Erik later explained that he needed "more time to recover" from a recent illness due to the fact that he received a bone marrow transplant after being diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia two and a half years ago.

SKID ROW's fourth leg of "The Gang's All Here" tour in December with BUCKCHERRY is still scheduled as planned.

"The Gang's All Here" arrived in October 2022 via earMUSIC. The group recorded most of the LP in Nashville, Tennessee with producer Nick Raskulinecz, who has previously worked with FOO FIGHTERS, STONE SOUR, HALESTORM, EVANESCENCE, RUSH and ALICE IN CHAINS, among many others.

Theart, who had been in the group for more than six years, played his final gig with SKID ROW in February 2022 before being officially given the boot.

FALCK Releases New Song "Blood Of Khan"; Music Video

Sid Falck (ex-Overkill) has released a new song, "Blood Of Khan", with special guests Dano Hibbs (Breeding Thorns) and Evie Austin (Inscribed & Faethom), under the Falck name.

Sid Falck: "Clearly this is inspired by Genghis Khan. However, it’s not really about the brutal butcher. Though there are enough history to fill books about him This is actually, from my POV in writing, about standing up for yourself, your ideals, your beliefs and, especially, your self worth and right to be.

"It seems too often, society, or elements of society, will just about publicly Lynch you, if your opinion doesn’t exactly match theirs. So really, for me, this is about standing by your right to believe that your opinion is just as valid as others; That you have the right to want to be safe even if you don’t fit “someones” vision of what’s “normal or acceptable“. So really, as far as I’m concerned, you should be free to live life as you see fit, as long as you allow everyone else to do the same. So, yeah. It’s about being ready to stand up for yourself, find your inner warrior if necessary, finding your inner Genghis Khan.

"Once again, I turned to Dano Hibbs for the guitar leads. There’s just something really special about his feel, that I have become a huge fan of. It’s somewhere along the Cannavino/Zakk Wylde school of playing to my ears.

"On this song, I also asked a young bass player, Evie Austin, who’s from the Miami, FL area, to do the bass. Here’s the crazy thing, Evie was only 17 when she recorded her track, actually, she just turned 18 two days ago!! The pure talent of that bass track, for someone that young, just absolutely blows me out of the water. I mean, holy crap. I can definitely see myself inviting Evie to help on future songs."

"Blood Of Khan" can be downloaded here for “set your own price”, making it a free download, should you so choose. An accompanying video can be viewed below. "Blood Of Khan" is / will also be available on all streaming and digital platforms.

THE RODS Release "Shockwave" Single And Music Video

Following their 2019 album, BrotherhoodOof Metal, January 19 sees heavy metal icons, The Rods, release their new studio offering, Rattle The Cage. The album will be available as CD Digipak, Ltd. Vinyl LP and Digital formats via Massacre Records. Pre-order here.

After the band shared a first appetizer, the album title track, today they are premiering a music video for their new single, "Shockwave".

Says David "Rock" Feinstein: "This again, like 'Rattle The Cage', was a title that Carl had sent me with some lyric ideas, and came to completion the same way as 'Rattle The Cage'. It’s basically just a rock song that interprets how you feel, as the artist playing it, or a fan listening. It’s reminiscent of a Motörhead song, as an all out balls to the wall rock 'n' roll song. Basic, and to the point. There have been times when The Rods have been referred to as the "American Motörhead", so in this song that’s what it feels like. Fast, Loud, and always proud.

The Rods are a storied heavy metal band that rocked their way through the ‘80s with a powerful, raw energy that had fans and critics alike calling them “The American Motörhead.” Once the go-to opening act for some of the biggest metal bands in the world, The Rods toured throughout the ‘80s with the likes of Judas Priest, Ozzy Osbourne, and Iron Maiden, among others. Along with contemporaries like Anvil and Raven, The Rods are an integral part of what is commonly recognized today as Heavy Metal’s “golden age,” and emerged during the New Wave of British Heavy Metal.

Heavy, dark, deep, insightful, and maybe even a bit more inciteful than ever before: Rattle The Cage is The Rods at their incendiary best! Lyrically, they’ve taken a cue from David "Rock" Feinstein’s cousin, Ronnie James Dio, providing the listener with a similar sense of hope and resiliency in the face of an ever-changing world. Musically, the band is tighter than ever! Founding members David "Rock" Feinstein and Carl Canedy are joined by new bassist Freddy Villano (Quiet Riot, Widowmaker), and the results are simply sublime: The songs are rhythmically tighter, yet more musically unbound, the grooves heavier, and the melodies more dynamic.

Mixed and mastered by Chris Collier, Rattle The Cage benefits from his masterful, modern touch, with the kind of sound that will simultaneously appeal to core fans as well as new generations of listeners! The Rods epitomize the term power-trio, and the word “power” has never been more evident in their music than it is now. 2024 will mark The Rods' 45th anniversary, in support, they will be playing many special dates and performances to commemorate 45 years together. With such an impressive history firmly notched in their collective belt, The Rods are still firing on all cylinders, and as eager as ever to crank it up, louder than loud!

Rattle The Cage tracklisting:

"Now And Forever"
"Wolves At The Door"
"Cry Out Loud"
"Rattle The Cage"
"Can’t Slow Down"
"Metal Highways"
"Hell Or High Water"
"Play It Loud"
"Shockwave"
"Hearts Of Steel"

RAVAGE Release Official Music Video For New Single "Manmade Ice Age"

Ravage, the traditional heavy metal rockers from Boston, Massachusetts have returned with their first new music since the pandemic. The band has posted an official music video for the song "Manmade Ice Age" - the first single from their forthcoming full-length album Spider On The World, which is due out in early 2024 on a date and record label to be announced.

Singer Al Ravage comments: "We put together a remote video during the pandemic, but this is our first attempt at an actual video since 2010's "Grapes Of Wrath" video. It was fun to work on. We'll have a few more videos coming out before and after the album release."

In regards to the new single, "I think this song is a good summation of what we've been working on for the last couple of years coming out of the pandemic. Lots of guitars, lots of melody and lots of attack. We brought in Pete Rutcho of Damage Studios, who mixed our The End Of Tomorrow album, to help give this latest record a crisp, modern, sound. But the guys in the band are pretty much slaves to the traditions of classic heavy metal, so I think we've achieved a good balance, and fans of killer melodic metal of all stripes will be pleased with it. This is just a taste of what we have in store for the full-length, which I think features the best material we've yet done. Crank it! Ravage The Earth and Ravage In Peace!"

MOON SAFARI Share Video For New Single "Emma, Come On"

Swedish progressive rockers, Moon Safari, recently announced their new album, Himlabacken Vol. 2. Ten years in the making, their 5th studio album will be released on December 6 through Marquee Inc. in Japan and worldwide on December 8 through the band's own Blomljud Records Inc.

Moon Safari are now pleased to share the video for album's second single "Emma, Come On".

The band had this to say about the track: "Do people still have posters of their favourite artists or movie stars on the walls in their room? This song is about celebrity worshipping, the slightly unhealthy kind. All dressed up in swirling moogs and guitars, as if Genesis in the mid ‘80’s kept one foot in their past and didn’t care for airplay.  Which celebrity poster did you hang on your bedroom wall?”

About the making of the album: "It took us ten years, for a million different reasons. But we're not dead yet. We return with what we know is a worthy comeback album, filled with our own special brand of symphonic rock cultivated over 20 years as an antidote to the long, dark winters of northern Sweden, with those trademark vocal group-inspired harmonies, uplifting melodies and soulful romantic lyrics that our fans have come to expect. With the addition of ex. Black Bonzo drummer Mikael Israelsson to the band we've totally revamped and boosted the low end of our sound, tightened it up, and that attitude shift is felt through our entire arrangements.Tying it all together is the mix by the great Rich Mouser. He's been the go-to guy for the big boys in the genre for many years, and now we understand why. The mix is clear and punchy, booming and never flat. It just sounds expensive, and we couldn't be happier. You'll get almost 70 minutes of this heady brew, spread over nine tracks, with zero fillers. And of course there's the obligatory epic. The whole thing is a banger, and we're immensely proud of it."

Tracklisting:

"198X (Heaven Hill)"
"Between The Devil And Me"
"Emma, Come On"
"A Lifetime To Learn How To Love"
"Beyond The Blue"
"Blood Moon"
"Teen Angel Meets The Apocalypse"
"Forever, For You"
"Epilog"

"Between The Devil And Me" lyric video:

Moon Safari is:

Petter Sandström - Lead and Backing vocals, Acoustic Guitar
Simon Åkesson - Lead and Backing Vocals, Piano, Organ, moog.
Pontus Åkesson - Lead and Backing Vocals, Electric and Acoustic Guitar
Sebastian Åkesson - Backing Vocals, assorted keys, percussion.

JUDAS PRIEST Releases Music Video For Latest Single 'Trial By Fire'

British heavy metal legends JUDAS PRIEST have released the official music video for "Trial By Fire", the second single from their upcoming studio album, "Invincible Shield". Check it out below.

"Invincible Shield" will arrive on March 8, 2024 via Sony Music. The LP's first single, "Panic Attack", can also be streamed below.

The release date for PRIEST's follow-up to 2018's "Firepower" was announced on October 7 during the band's performance at the Power Trip festival in Indio, California.

After BLACK SABBATH's "War Pigs" played as the intro to PRIEST's set, a graphic was displayed on the video screens announcing "The Invincible Shield".

The cover artwork for the CD and vinyl versions of "Invincible Shield" can be found below.

To pre-order "Invincible Shield", visit shop.judaspriest.com.

This past June, PRIEST guitarist Richie Faulkner told Anne Erickson of Audio Ink Radio that the band's new album was "sounding great. I was in Phoenix with [producer and touring guitarist] Andy Sneap and Rob a few weeks ago, putting the vocals down," he said. "And it's always exciting to hear new PRIEST tracks, because they become PRIEST tracks when Rob sings them. It's, like, the world hasn't heard them yet, but there's new PRIEST tracks that we're hearing for the first time. It's really exciting, hearing that characteristic voice that we've heard for decades singing new stuff. It's an incredibly exciting thing, so I can't wait for the world to hear it all."

Elaborating on the musical direction of the new PRIEST material, Faulkner said: "There are definitely a few more twists and turns on this record. There are a few more musical parts. So, there might be a bit of... As I said, there are twists and turns. I've used the word 'progressive' before, and the Internet ripped me a new asshole. But it is progressive in the sense that it's not like verse-chorus-verse-chorus-solo-chorus-finish. It's musical part-verse-musical part. It might do a few twists and turns, musically. It veers from the path of it, a bit like 'Sinner' or 'Tyrant' or something like that. So, it's a bit more '70s PRIEST, which I welcome as a guitar player… It's '70s PRIEST, but it's not a retro album, by any means. It's the influence of '70s PRIEST in the progressive sense, but it sounds like PRIEST in 2023."

He added: "Every PRIEST album has kind of stood on its own, stylistically. It's had that DNA of JUDAS PRIEST, because the characters are so strong. But it's always been a little bit different — retaining that DNA but having its own character. So, this one's no different, really, in the sense that it's obviously JUDAS PRIEST, but it's its own animal; it stands on its own two legs."

Last November, Faulkner told Robert Cavuoto of Metal Rules that some PRIEST fans misconstrued his previous comments about the musical direction of the band's upcoming LP. He said: "I think we've used the word 'progressive', and everyone thinks it's gonna become 'Nostradamus' [PRIEST's controversial 2008 symphonic heavy metal concept double album about Nostradamus], or RUSH, which is two different things. I've definitely used the word 'progressive' [to describe the new PRIEST material in previous interviews], purely because it's got a few musical turnarounds that 'Firepower' doesn't have. But that doesn't make it a RUSH record. It just makes it — instead of, like, a verse into a bridge into a chorus, there might be a couple of more musical passages in there to make it a bit more… interesting; might be the wrong word. I don't know. You've gotta be careful with the words you use these days. So it's not 'Firepower 2', but it's the same band a few years later, so there's obvious connections to the last record. But it's not 'Firepower 2' by any means."

Richie continued: "No PRIEST records have sounded the same, but it's got a common DNA. And you always try and make the next one sound a bit better — or whatever 'better' may be; 'better' is subjective. So, is it better written? Are the lyrics better? Does it sound better? And 'better' is always subjective. So it's hard to pinpoint, really. But it's a bit more of a musical adventure than the last one, I'd say. But then again someone might listen to it, when it does come out, and have a totally different interpretation of what it is. So it's always tough to sum up your own music without sounding up your own butt."

In February 2022, Halford was asked by Remy Maxwell of Audacy Check In if he agreed with Faulkner's comment that the band's upcoming album will be more musically "progressive" than "Firepower". He responded: "Yeah, the metal is there. But here's the thing: we've tried our best not to replicate anything that we've done. From 'Rocka Rolla' all the way through to 'Firepower', each record has had a distinctive character. And it's tough because fans go, 'We want another 'Painkiller',' 'We want another 'British Steel'.' And [it's, like], 'Dude, we've already done that.'

"Fans know that we're a band that is always full of adventure and trying new stuff," he continued. "And so, yeah, this has got probably some more progressive elements that we've never really delved into before. And that's exciting, because, again, it gives us and our fans another opportunity to see a different side of PRIEST. But it's still metal. There's just more of it. There are more notes than there were before."

Also in February 2022, Faulkner told Canada's The Metal Voice about the overall sound of the new PRIEST music: "Whenever you start a record, you never know how it's gonna turn out. So you might start with an idea of what it's gonna be, and as it kind of rolls on, it comes out something different. So you don't quite know. And also it's really hard to sum up your own music, I find, without sounding really pretentious. But I think this one — it's not 'Firepower 2', I don't think. It's its own thing, it's its own animal. If anything, I would say it's a bit more progressive in places, and in places it's got a bit more of that 'Killing Machine' swagger."

Faulkner added: "I know everyone says, 'Oh, is it the next 'Painkiller'?' or 'Is it the next…?' whatever… I don't know if they'd ever done it, but I know we've never done it when I've been in the band; we've never tried to recreate an album. It's always we try to create an album that stands on its own legs. So I think it's definitely a little bit more progressive than 'Firepower' and, as I said, in places it's got a little bit of that 'Killing Machine' angry swagger attitude going on."

Bassist Ian Hill is the sole remaining original member of PRIEST, which formed in 1969. Halford joined the group in 1973 and guitarist Glenn Tipton signed on in 1974. Rob left PRIEST in the early 1990s to form his own band, then came back to PRIEST in 2003. Original guitarist K.K. Downing parted ways with the band in 2011, and was replaced by Faulkner.

SIENA ROOT Debut "Leaving The City" Music Video

Sweden’s Siena Root have released a video for "Leaving The City", featured on the band's eighth studio album, Revelation, released earlier this year via Atomic Fire Records. Watch below:

Fittingly titled Revelation, the new album serves as the group’s most versatile offering of their long-spanning career, guiding listeners through a true journey rather than simply stringing together song after song. The eleven-track offering was recorded analogously at Silence Studio in Koppom, Sweden and Root Rock Studios in Stockholm, Sweden where it was also mixed. Mastering was handled at Stockholm’s Cutting Room.

Founded in the late ’90s, Siena Root are constantly working on something new. They’ve continually changed their approach and experimented with their sound — not only to keep their music fresh but to challenge themselves, which is among the main reason why the group’s relevance remains after all these years. Besides touring with acts such as Deep Purple and Dewolff, the quartet — founding members drummer Love Forsberg and bassist Sam Riffer with guitarist Johan Borgström and vocalist/keyboardist Zubaida Solid — have always brought an infectious performance to stages globally and consistently gaining new fans with every show.

Order Revelation at this location.

TRIVIUM Frontman MATT HEAFY Shares Live Video Of "Torn Between Scylla And Charybdis" With Soundboard Audio

MASTER'S CALL Premier "Damnation's Black Winds" Music Video; Debut Album Out Now

Master's Call are a force of heavy metal blackened by death from the Black Country, UK - the birthplace of heavy metal itself. The band's debut album, A Journey For The Damned, is out now on CD Digipak and on limited vinyl (300 copies each) in black/white and red/blue marbled, as well as digital. Order the album here.

"We almost can’t believe it - after all the frustrations and delays, the day has finally arrived and our debut album is finally out in the wild! It’s a monumental milestone moment for us, not only as it marks the first full length for the band, but it symbolizes our undying persistence and will to see things through to the end", comments the band.

To celebrate the album release day, Master's Call reveal their third and new single, along with a video clip, for the monumental track "Damnation's Black Winds".

“It is a culmination of the previous two singles "The Serpent's Rise" and "Blood On The Altar", taking the knowledge of the dark influences that surround you and the faith to sacrifice yourself for your beliefs, the true enemy shall be revealed and then destroyed. This track manages to strikes a balance of being both epic and melodic whilst still thundering and kicking-ass throughout. We’re particularly proud of this one, to achieve what we were going for it was probably the most difficult song to write."

Watch the clip below.

Tracklisting:

"All Hope In Fire"
"Beyond The Gates"
"The Serpent’s Rise"
"Blood On The Altar"
"Damnation’s Black Winds"
"Into The Abyss Once More"
"Pathways"

Master's Call's debut EP, entitled Morbid Black Trinity, was released in 2019 and was universally well received from the press and metal community worldwide. With invites to perform at multiple metal festivals, the band is proving itself as a visceral dark force in the live scene, despite only a single EP release thus far.

After marching forth through the pandemic and various line-up changes within the band, the long-awaited debut album, A Journey For The Damned, finally reached the end of its long journey to completion. Their next chapter is about to begin and is set to burn their mark on the world! “It’s been a hell of a long journey with many obstacles to overcome, but for us it’s so good to have finally made it to the end with the summation of it all captured and sealed in time”, says guitarist Dave Powell. During the album recordings, the band lost three vocalists in total, ending up having guitar player John Wilcox becoming the final singer. “So three vocalists down was feeling like a curse. We had most of the album written and even had the vocals for a couple of songs recorded with a vocalist we no longer had. In the end John volunteered to switch from guitars to vocals, which was a very drastic change for us dynamically as me and him up to that point were the two guitarists both live and in the songwriting”, comments Dave and adds: “In the end whilst we finished up recording the album we had a new guitarist, Bear, join us to cover live shows at first, but has since become a fully-fledged band member.”

Master's Call convince with a black mixture of everything that is extreme, but with melodies and straight-forward, recognizable songs, that basically can be described as black hymns. “We are an Extreme Metal band that remembers its roots and incorporates them into our “heavy metal blackened by death” message. Whilst all of us in the band may individually branch off on our own voyages into obscure Underground Extreme Metal discoveries we still share that unified mindset”, explains Dave and looks even further back: “When we first started as a 2-man project John was more the Black Metal guy and I was more the Death Metal listener. We still always shared a mutual love and respect for all extreme metal genres and that continued with the rest of the members that joined the band: Watain, Morbid Angel, Immortal, Emperor, Necrophobic, Dimmu Borgir, Slayer, Cradle Of Filth to name a few favorites - and of course the Classic Metal bands, especially those that came from our home such as Black Sabbath and Judas Priest. They started it all and that inspires us to keep that Black Country flag flying!”

When it comes to the lyrics on A Journey For The Damned, they all lead into a similar direction. “They mainly deal with the dark and turbulent path through life: the atrocities, struggles and the victories that will be encountered along the way, as well as the spirituality and beliefs that influence us as we journey toward the inevitability of death”, comments John. For the final mix and mastering, the band went down to Germany, working with Kristian "Kohle" Bonifer at his Kohlekeller Studios, mostly known for his work with Powerwolf, but also extreme bands like Aborted, Sinister and Agathodaimon. “The thing that stood out was that he wasn’t a one-trick pony mixing the same sound for all bands. Every band had their own sound whilst still sounding appropriate for the metal subgenre they are in”, reflects Dave and adds: “It was great to work with him, as expected! He was able to cater to our vision whilst still doing things in his way. And it was a great learning experience for us too, he gave us pointers that will no doubt benefit the way in which we approach certain elements on future recordings.”

Master's Call is:

John Wilcox - Vocals
Dave Powell - Guitar
Bear - Guitar
Adam Tricklebank - Bass
James Williams - Drums
