Amoriello has released a new single, “Electric Metal Man”, featuring guest appearances from members of King Diamond, Doro, Deadrisen, Power Theory and Liliumdust via Sliptrick Records.  





Amoriello is the studio project of New Jersey based guitarist Thomas Amoriello that fits comfortably into the categories of traditional heavy metal, neoclassical rock, power metal and progressive metal. The track features guest musicians including drummer Matt Thompson (King Diamond), bassist Nick Douglas (Doro), vocalist Will Shaw (Deadrisen), guitarist Carlos Alvarez (Power Theory) and keyboardist Ariel Pertuck (Liliumdiust). 







The track was produced by Carlos Alvarez at Dirty Viking Sound in Philadelphia. Previously releases from Amoriello include Phantom Sounds (2022 LP), Dear Dark (2020 EP), and the self-titled debut Amoriello (2018 LP) which are all available on CD from Shredguy Records (United States) , on vinyl from H42 Records (Germany) and digital from Sliptrick Records (Latvia). 


Thomas holds a Master of Music degree in classical guitar performance and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Music Education degree. He also performs his neoclassical Hendrix-inspired American National Anthem at many professional sporting events.

Alice Cooper was unstoppable during the 1970s when the band released four consecutive platinum albums and five Top 40 hits like "I'm Eighteen", "School's Out", "No More Mr. Nice Guy" and "Elected". Rhino will reissue two of those platinum albums — "Killer" (1971) and "School's Out" (1972) — with newly remastered sound, rare recordings, and previously unreleased live performances.

Both Deluxe Editions will be released on June 9 as 2-CD sets and 3-LP versions on 180-gram vinyl. "Killer (Deluxe Edition)" retails for $69.98 (LP) and $29.98 (CD). "School's Out (Deluxe Edition)" will be available for $89.98 (LP) and $29.98 (CD). Pre-orders are available now at Rhino.com.

Released in 1971, "Killer" was the fourth studio album recorded by the founding quintet of singer Alice Cooper, lead guitarist Glen Buxton, rhythm guitarist/keyboardist Michael Bruce, bassist Dennis Dunaway and drummer Neal Smith. Bob Ezrin produced all four of Alice Cooper's platinum albums from the 1970s, including "Killer" and "School's Out".

"Killer (Deluxe Edition)" introduces a newly remastered version of the original release, which peaked at No. 21 on the Billboard albums chart. Along with the singles "Under My Wheels" and "Be My Lover", the record also includes "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah", "Desperado" and the prog-rock-inspired epic "Halo Of Flies". The bonus material features alternate takes for "You Drive Me Nervous", "Under My Wheels" and "Dead Babies".

The collection also gives fans an unreleased live recording of the band's performance at Mar Y Sol Pop Festival in Puerto Rico on April 2, 1972. Recorded a few months before the band returned to the studio to make "School's Out", the show previews "Public Animal #9" from the upcoming album. The band played most of "Killer" during the concert, including "You Drive Me Nervous", "Under My Wheels" and "Halo Of Flies". They also tapped the group's 1971 album, "Love It To Death", for live versions of "Is It My Body?", "Long Way To Go" and the smash hit "I'm Eighteen".

Shortly after the festival, the band released the title track from its follow-up album, "School's Out". The single was released several weeks ahead of the full album to ensure it hit radio airwaves before the school year ended. It worked. By the time school was out, the song was a hit, reaching No. 7 in the U.S. and No. 1 in the U.K.

"School's Out (Deluxe Edition)" begins with a newly remastered version of the 1972 original, which peaked at No. 2 on the albums chart. Essential tracks like "Luney Tune" and "Alma Mater" are joined by "Gutter Cat Vs. The Jets". The latter is an homage to "West Side Story", a significant influence on the band. The song incorporates lyrics from "Jet Song" from the 1957 musical, which led to an unlikely songwriting credit for Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim on an Alice Cooper track.

The Deluxe Edition contains rarities like the single versions of "School's Out" and "Gutter Cat Vs. The Jets". Two previously unreleased tracks are also included, an alternate version of "Alma Mater" and an early demo for "Elected", a song that would appear in 1973 on the band's first No. 1 album, "Billion Dollar Babies".

Alice Cooper's concert in Miami on May 27, 1972, adds even more unreleased music to the collection. The show was recorded a few weeks before the band entered the studio to record "School's Out". The live performance features standout versions of "Halo Of Flies", "School's Out" and "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah", a song that gives Cooper a chance to show off his impressive harmonica skills.

The vinyl versions for both Deluxe Edition recreate the original album sleeves down to the smallest detail. For "Killer", that means a gatefold sleeve that opens to reveal a detachable 1972 calendar with a photo of Cooper in the gallows. The cover of "School's Out" looks like a wooden school desk and opens to reveal the LP wrapped in a pair of panties. The band stopped including the underwear following a controversy as to whether or not they were flammable. Thankfully, the lacy unmentionables in the new Deluxe Edition are not a fire hazard.

Both sets come with booklets that include track-by-track commentary by band members and former Creem magazine editor Jaan Uhelszki, plus liner notes by Bill Holdship, also a former Creem magazine editor. In "Killer (Deluxe Edition)", Holdship writes: "Listening to 'Killer' again after all these years to write these notes was rewarding because, like THE BEATLES and Elvis, it's gratifying to realize I ended up 'wasting' my life on something that, even in retrospect, really was that great. Fifty years later, 'Killer' remains a perfect — perfect! — rock 'n' roll record."

In addition to experiencing the unearthed concerts on these two new deluxe editions, fans can also see Alice Cooper revisit "School's Out" and "Killer" on an extensive tour spanning spring and summer. Beginning this weekend, the run of more than 40 shows will bring him and his band all across the country, including dates with DEF LEPPARD and MÖTLEY CRÜE, plus a month-long run with ROB ZOMBIE, MINISTRY and FILTER for this year's "Freaks On Parade".

Orange County's Bleed The Sky has released new single "Soul Collapse" to all major platforms along with a visualizer.





"'Soul Collapse' is about being at odds with what you want to do and what you have to do. The persistent voice in your head stemming from the decisions that take you away from where you want to be in life. The natural connections, bonds and comforts we develop on that path become anchors to a life we cherish, but are antithetical to what we really want, but can't bring ourselves to sacrifice," says Monte Barnard.







Hailing from the musical breeding grounds of Orange County, CA, metalcore band Bleed The Sky began in 2003 with vocalist Noah Robinson, guitarists Kyle Moorman and Wayne Miller, bassist Casey Kulek, sampler Luke Andersen and drummer Austin D’Amond. Merely two months later and ready to dive into the music scene, the group performed their first show to a sold out crowd in an opening spot for Opeth and their second headlining the world famous Whisky A Go Go.


Early the following year their first EP, Bleed The Sky, was produced by Ben Schigel, known for his work engineering and mixing great music with groups such as Ringworm, Chimaira, and Walls of Jericho. The band sold over 1,000 copies on their own before signing a deal with Nuclear Blast Records in the fall of 2004. Their April of 2005 debut for the label, Paradigm in Entropy (2005), featured a futuristic, industrial, and melody-infused take on nu-metal’s dissonant riffs and aggressive vocals.


The album cemented the band as a forerunner in the New Wave of American Heavy Metal movement of the mid 2000’s and allowed for many opportunities and shows, including a consistent rotation on MTV’s Headbanger’s Ball. Their major success allowed them to tour with the likes of Hatebreed, Soulfly, Napalm Death, Red Chord, Agnostic Front, Disturbed, Diecast, and ILL Nino, only further promoting their albums and musical talent over the years.


Following the release of two well received albums with Nuclear Blast Records, Paradigm in Entropy (2005), and Murder the Dance (2008), they once again aimed to redefine who they are with a new label, Art Is War Records. The releases of This Way Lies Madness (2020) and the single "The Devil Will See You Now" (2020) started to gain the band massive online attention with the single reaching over a million streams on Spotify.


Not letting the pandemic keep them down for long, Bleed The Sky has returned with the same intensity that fans of their previous albums will be familiar with, as well as a new brutality that they are excited to share with the metal community. In 2022, Monte Barnard joined the group as the new frontman and was eager to bring his talent and experience to an already versatile group.


Getting his start in Northern California’s Death Metal scene, Monte Barnard joined Alterbeast in 2014 and continued his work touring and filling in on vocals with such bands as Thy Art Is Murder, The Kennedy Veil, and Fallujah. He still also fronts Emberthrone on Seek & Strike Records, as well as Lesser Animal.


Armed with a new vocalist and the release of a new single, “The Parasite” featuring guest vocalist Mark Hunter from Chimaira, they are set to make a mark once more in the music world and enthrall the masses with vigor.


The group is currently composed of Monte Barnard on Vocals, Kevin Garcia on Guitar, Wayne Miller on Guitar, David Culbert on Bass and Austin D’Amond on Drums.

The heavy metal 'n' roll, dark, madcap visionaries collectively known as Avatar - vocalist Johannes Eckerström, guitarists Jonas Jarlsby and Tim Öhrström, bassist Henrik Sandelin, and drummer John Alfredsson - released their magnum opus and ninth album, Dance Devil Dance, back in February via Black Waltz Records, distributed by Thirty Tigers. Frontiers Music Srl recently announced the upcoming release of Swedish hard rock/traditional metal worshippers Vypera's second album, Race Of Time. Today, the band release a video for the new single, "Riding On The Wind", which can be viewed below.


Vypera, consisting of lead singer Andreas Wallström, guitarists Christoffer Thelin and Cederick Forsberg, bassist Andreas Andersson, and drummer Johan Pettersson, are hard rockers to the core. Emerging from the fruitful Swedish rock and metal scene, they are yet another high quality musical offering from, arguably, the new center of the rock n' roll universe. Their debut album, 2022's Eat Your Heart Out, was a headbanging, fist-raising salute to the great '80s metal/hard rock scene whose musical altar the band worships at.


Vypera, originally known as Madhouse, formed in Sandviken, Sweden in 2016 and soon set out on crafting original material to reflect the rock 'n roll and metal spirit that burned within the band. They began writing music that they felt traveled on the same good ol' road where their influences like Rainbow, Icon, King Kobra, London, Triumph, W.A.S.P., and the like had originally started. Arjen Lucassen’s Supersonic Revolution will release their debut album, Golden Age Of Music, on May 19 via Music Theories Recording/Mascot Label Group. Watch Arjen unbox the earbook and LP editions below:





You think you know Arjen Lucassen? Towering Dutch prog rock polymath? The man behind the super successful prog rock conceptualists Ayreon? Not to mention his prog metal of Star One and Guilt Machine? Enormous overarching concept albums about space and time, packed to the hilt with special guests that read like a who’s who of modern day progressive rock? Arjen Lucassen? Well, think again…




Supersonic Revolution, the band behind Golden Age Of Music, are simply five men: Arjen on bass, long-standing keyboard player Joost van den Broek, guitarist Timo Somers, drummer Koen Herfst and singer Jaycee. Five men rocking out and having one hell of a time doing it.


The whole project grew from a request to provide a track for a cover CD for the German music magazine Eclipsed. “They asked if I had any cover versions lying around,” he recalls. “I said, ‘No but I’ll happily record one for you.’ So, they gave me a list of bands and I saw a ZZ Top song ‘I Heard It On The X’ that I really like. I said I could record it for them, but then they told me it had to be ready in one week...”


“I was like ‘Oh my god!’. I contacted my favorite musicians in Holland via WhatsApp and literally within 30 minutes I had assembled five people. A band basically. From there the seed was sown in Lucassen’s mind. ‘I want to form a band. And I want to simply have fun!’.


“I’m a perfectionist as you know, so I’m always sending musicians their parts back and asking them to change stuff,” he acknowledges. “But this was all brilliant. We were having fun, calling and WhatsApping all the time, and within a week we had a complete product.” He continues, “Also I wanted to have an up-beat, positive project.”


“I was like, let’s form a band and let’s write songs in the style of the 70s, and have the lyrics be a celebration of all the memorable things from that time, because those were my formative years,” he enthuses. “But I didn’t want it to sound like the 70s because that’s already been done, and I can’t do it any better than ‘Stargazer’ or ‘Kashmir’.”


“The guys are all younger than me - around 30 - so they weren’t even alive yet in the 70s. So, it was a great way for me to make 70s music with lots of Hammond and blistering guitars, but to update it to this time.”


The end result is 11 tracks of high energy, progressively inclined heavy rock that swings with the kind of groove Deep Purple rocked with in the early to mid-1970s. “This album is not a typical prog album. It’s not YES or Genesis. But it’s not a metal album either. There’s a track called ‘Burn it Down’,” Lucassen notes, “it’s totally based on ‘Smoke On The Water’ but written from the perspective of the ‘stupid with a flare gun’ mentioned in the original lyrics.


The album also features covers of some legendary songs given the Arjen Lucassen treatment as bonus tracks: T-Rex’s "Children Of The Revolution", ZZ Top’s "Heard It On The X", Earth Wind & Fire’s "Fantasy" and Roger Glover’s "Love Is All".


That, ladies and gentlemen, is the real Arjen Lucassen. Job done. Having fun.

In a new interview with Japanese music critic and radio personality Masa Ito of TVK's "Rock City", METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich spoke about how the making of the band's latest album, "72 Seasons", benefited from the bandmembers' increased maturity and respect for each other. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "We love being in METALLICA and we love METALLICA and we cherish METALLICA and we want to be the best METALLICA possible. And I guess that 40 years later, to still be able to make music together and still be able to make a difference is something we cherish so much and it's something that we're so respectful of. I think that in the past there were times where we were more weary about… there was so much internal differences and so much negative energy within the bandmembers that writing songs and going to the studio was often kind of like… not something that we really wanted to do, because it was so exhausting. But now, with this record, and certainly as we get older, there's less and less in-fighting, there's less and less disagreements."

He continued: "This record we made, I think, without any arguments. Nobody was shouting or yelling or doing anything crazy. There was no posturing or 'my way' — it was basically nothing of that. And so I think ultimately that joy of going to the studio and creating this music shows up in the energy and the passion — the passion shows up in there somewhere. And like I said, this may be the most friction-free record METALLICA has ever made internally between the bandmembers.

"I think there's been enough documented over the years about how we made records," Ulrich added. "The Black Album was a very difficult record to make. A lot of the albums with [producer] Bob Rock — not because of Bob Rock, but just because of where we were at as people at the time, when we were having a hard time working in a collective environment… And I think now we're so much more appreciative and respectful and love each other in a different way now. I mean, we've always loved each other and cared for each other, but I think now we're protective of those relationships because we wanna make sure that they sustain through every experience that we have and we come out the other side fully intact. That, I think, is always the goal."

"72 Seasons" was released on Friday (April 14) via METALLICA's own Blackened Recordings. Produced by Greg Fidelman with guitarist/vocalist James Hetfield and Ulrich, it is METALLICA's first full-length collection of new material since 2016's "Hardwired…To Self-Destruct".

In the seven years since the arrival of "Hardwired… To Self-Destruct", METALLICA has reissued some of its classic albums, released a second live album with the San Francisco Symphony, commissioned a covers album featuring the likes of GHOST, VOLBEAT, WEEZER, Corey Taylor and THE HU, and landed on the Billboard songs chart with "Master Of Puppets" after a prominent placement in the hit Netflix show "Stranger Things".

METALLICA's "M72" world tour will feature two-night stops in nearly two dozen cities. Presented worldwide by Liquid Death and Blackened American Whiskey (in North America only) and promoted by Live Nation, the 46-show trek will launch in Amsterdam on April 27 and will include shows all over Europe and North America through 2024. Each "No Repeat Weekend" on "M72" will feature two completely different setlists and support lineups. North Carolina blackened thrash trio, All Hell, has unveiled their lyric video for “Black Leather Wings.” The track come off the band’s All Hail The Night EP, released earlier this month via Terminus Hate City Records.





Recorded and mixed by Chris “Scary” Adams (Black Tusk) at Hidden Audio and mastered by Joel Grind (Toxic Holocaust), All Hail The Night contains six tracks: three completely new songs featuring a guest solo and additional vocals by Nate Garnette of American metal legends Skeletonwitch and three reworked and reinvigorated songs from the band’s earliest days.

Reach Music Publishing has acquired both the master and publishing rights of JUDAS PRIEST's "Rocka Rolla" and "Sad Wings Of Destiny" albums from Gull Entertainments.

Reach will be working in partnership with JUDAS PRIEST on these two albums and is planning a variety of projects to be announced later this year, including special releases for the 50th anniversary of "Rocka Rolla" in 2024.

"Rocka Rolla" and "Sad Wings Of Destiny" are JUDAS PRIEST's first two albums, released by Gull Records in 1974 and 1976, respectively. They are seen as important albums in the development of heavy metal music, beginning the band's 50-year history and containing classic songs such as "Victim Of Changes", "The Ripper" and "Rocka Rolla".

JUDAS PRIEST subsequently signed to CBS Records (now Sony) to release their third album in 1977, but the ownership rights of both masters and publishing to the first two JUDAS PRIEST albums remained with Gull for almost 50 years — until their sale to Reach.

Prior to this deal with Gull, Reach already had an existing relationship with JUDAS PRIEST as the co-publisher of band member Glenn Tipton.

In 2021, Reach Music announced the acquisition of a 50% copyright interest in, as well as worldwide administration rights to, the Glenn Tipton song catalog, beginning with songs released in 1977, and including iconic tracks such as "Breaking The Law", "Living After Midnight" and "You've Got Another Thing Coming". The current acquisition from Gull reunites the full catalogue with Tipton and Reach, to include compositions from the 1974 and 1976 JUDAS PRIEST album releases.

Furthermore, in addition to Glenn Tipton, the acquisition of the first two JUDAS PRIEST albums sees Reach enter into deals with the other members of JUDAS PRIEST from that time period — Rob Halford, Ian Hill and K.K. Downing — as Reach will be representing the compositions co-written by them from those two albums.

2022 was a landmark year for JUDAS PRIEST as they were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

Michael Closter, president and owner of Reach Music, said: "The acquisition of the masters and publishing for the albums 'Rocka Rolla' and 'Sad Wings Of Destiny' was a monumental opportunity for Reach Music, coming not long after JUDAS PRIEST's induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. This deal happened with the approval of JUDAS PRIEST and their manager Jayne Andrews, and I'm so excited to begin working closely with them on a variety of special projects, including releasing high-quality reissues."

He added: "I want to thank David Howells, owner of Gull, who signed JUDAS PRIEST in 1974 and released their first two albums. He has had, and continues to have, a remarkable career spanning 65 years in the music industry. Thank you for your trust in doing this sale for these essential and historically important JUDAS PRIEST albums."

Howells said: "I'm very happy to have met Michael Closter and to pass the mantle on to Reach Music after Gull Records first released these JUDAS PRIEST albums almost 50 years ago. I'm looking forward to seeing what projects Reach and JUDAS PRIEST do together in the future with these iconic recordings."

In a November 2020 interview with "That Jamieson Show", Halford spoke about the fact that PRIEST still did not own the rights to "Rocka Rolla" and "Sad Wings Of Destiny", even though it had been four and a half decades since they were released.

"We've gone back and forth with the owners of those records," he said. "And it's a shame. I hope one day we can bring them back into the PRIEST fold, because they're valuable — they're like treasures, really. And I think that's probably why the people that still own them understand that, because they're keeping [the albums] rehashed and so forth.

"Like any band that's been privileged enough to have a long life like PRIEST — 50 years now — some extraordinary things happen in your first one, two, three albums. Especially the difference between 'Rocka Rolla' and 'Sad Wings Of Destiny' — it's just like this Grand Canyon effect in the way that the band really grew exponentially in such a short space of time.

"And yeah, we would love to get them back. We never say never. We keep going back to 'em every so often and say, 'Look, what's it gonna take?' Because they're important to us. And I'd like to feel that one day we'll own those masters again."

In a new interview with Heavy New York, AS I LAY DYING's founding vocalist Tim Lambesis has confirmed that he and his bandmates have commenced the recording process for their next studio album. The LP will mark the group's first with its new lineup, featuring Lambesis and longtime guitarist Phil Sgrosso alongside drummer Nick Pierce (ex-UNEARTH),bassist vocalist Ryan Neff (MISS MAY I) and guitarist Ken Susi (UNEARTH).

Tim said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Nick Pierce just finished tracking drums for the AS I LAY DYING record a couple of weeks ago… Unfortunately, in modern times, that doesn't mean the record's coming out very soon, but it's in the works. We're working with Ryan Neff. Ken Susi's doing some solos. Nick Pierce already tracked the drums. So to answer some of those questions about, 'Are those guys contributing in any way?', obviously they are. We just haven't really had a final product to deliver yet."

Last September, Lambesis told Metalshop TV about AS I LAY DYING's recent lineup changes: "I think for our fans, they think that the changes happened all in a very short period of time, but they actually happened over the last two years. The first change was on guitar we invited Ken Susi to fill in for us. And that was about two years ago that we invited him. But then, of course, the pandemic happened and so we had a lot of breaks until we had a tour again. So Ken's been rehearsing with us, or talking about rehearsing with us, for the last couple of years. And on drums we have Nick Pierce, who joined us. Nick Pierce was previously in UNEARTH; Ken is from UNEARTH as well. And Nick stopped playing with UNEARTH and coincidentally at the same time we needed a drummer, because our previous drummer hadn't been communicating with us; he went very isolated once the pandemic hit. And so there wasn't an argument or anything like that; it was just a situation where when the pandemic hit, he decided to take a new direction in life and kind of cut himself off from the rest of us. And we decided we wanted to keep going forward. Phil and I had been the ones writing the songs all these years, so when Nick Pierce left UNEARTH, we thought it was the perfect opportunity to have him perform with us. And then Ryan came from MISS MAY I. He was the last guy to come in. And he didn't come in until a couple of months ago. Our bass player, Josh, previously left, and he's with SPIRITBOX now. And when he decided to go perform with SPIRITBOX, we called up Ryan, who was with MISS MAY I. And Ryan Neff was on tour at the time. And then we asked him, 'Can you start touring with us as soon as this tour is over?' And he said, 'Well, I'm only gonna have three days off to rehearse in between tours.' He said, 'If you guys want me to do it, I'll make sure I come prepared.' And he had a lot to learn in three days, but he pulled it together. He's a very, very hard-working guy."

Lambesis also talked about AS I LAY DYING's plans for a new studio album as a follow-up to "Shaped By Fire", which came out in September 2019 via Nuclear Blast.

"Well, we have demos going back and forth between Phil and I," he said at the time. "The two of us have been writing songs for 20 years, and so we have a very, I guess, refined method of writing where we exchange demos early on so that they have room to be pulled apart. And then once there's a full instrumental, then I start writing lyrics. And I typically don't write lyrics until after we have all the instrumentals together. So pretty shortly after this tour we'll finish the demo process and then I can start writing lyrics. And hopefully by the end of the year we'll finish recording so we can have an album next year."

In June 2022, longtime AS I LAY DYING drummer Jordan Mancino announced that he would sit out the band's tour due to "a number of ongoing internal issues" that "have not yet been resolved."

Mancino's announcement came less than a month after AS I LAY DYING's longtime bassist/vocalist Josh Gilbert revealed that he was leaving the band. In a statement, the remaining members of AS I LAY DYING said that Gilbert "decided to exit" the group "to pursue other musical opportunities."

Josh was the second AS I LAY DYING member to leave the band in less than a year. In August 2021, guitarist Nick Hipa confirmed his exit from AS I LAY DYING, explaining that he could no longer justify being part of "a superficial pursuit" of the "story and meaning" that the band's 2018 reunion was built upon.

Lambesis was famously convicted in 2014 for his role in a murder-for-hire plot against his estranged wife.

In May 2014, Lambesis was sentenced to six years in jail after pleading guilty to paying a San Diego police officer posing as a hitman $1,000 to kill his wife. Approximately two and a half years later — on December 17, 2016 — he was discharged from a California detention facility and was transferred to the Division of Adult Parole Operations.

In June 2018, AS I LAY DYING played its first show with Lambesis in five years and released a new single. Lambesis also owned up to his crimes in a long apology on the band's Facebook page after his release.

The return of AS I LAY DYING raised some questions, particularly since Hipa categorically denounced the band's disgraced frontman as a "sociopathic narcissist in definite need of rehabilitation" in a social-media post back in 2014.

In September 2021, AS I LAY DYING released a new song called "Roots Below" which was originally a B-side leftover from when the sessions for "Shaped By Fire".

In a new interview with Anne Erickson of Audio Ink Radio, legendary DOKKEN axeman George Lynch spoke about his decision to return to using the LYNCH MOB name for his solo project.

For much of 2021 and 2022, George had played dates around the U.S. under the name ELECTRIC FREEDOM, which he previously said was the new name of his "touring entity" after deciding to retire the LYNCH MOB band name in 2020. However, last October it was reported that LYNCH MOB was once again playing shows, with George joined in the band's current lineup by his longtime drummer Jimmy D'Anda (BULLETBOYS) along with TANTRIC bassist Jaron Gulino, and singer Gabriel Colon. (Editor's note: D'Anda has not played with LYNCH MOB at some of the recent gigs and was temporarily replaced by Jordan Cannata, who has previously played with SLAUGHTER and ADRENALINE MOB, among others.)

Regarding his change of heart, Lynch said: "I am a little conflicted about that. But I just kind of go with the flow. It's a brand I built, and it's my last name. So, I mean, I understand the negatives for sure, and I agree with the negatives. But, [the Lynch name is] on my driver's license."

Lynch previously discussed his decision to go back to performing under the LYNCH MOB moniker in an October 2022 interview with Full In Bloom. At the time he said: "[LYNCH MOB is] just a brand I'd established for decades, obviously — over three decades. Nothing's perfect, and I've gotta just live with the fact that it has some negative connotations that I probably have to continue explaining for the rest of my life, and I don't mind doing that. But it is a brand that I built, and I'm just gonna stick with it. As far as a marketing thing and a brand thing and a business thing and a working thing, and it keeps my band guys working and it keeps the fans happy, it makes sense.

"I really felt, when I adopted ELECTRIC FREEDOM, that I was really going against the grain more than keeping the old name," he laughed. "I really felt a lot more resistance than I'd ever felt having LYNCH MOB; that was actually the reality of it. Nobody really liked it. And I didn't like living with that; it was just kind of uncomfortable. It's, like, 'Okay, well, we've just gotta put up with George's decision here to do this, but nobody agrees with it. We're not comfortable with it.' It has a sort of disingenuous ring to it. As much as my motives were pure — I felt honest — it just never caught on, on all kinds of levels."

Asked if he had gotten any negative comments from fans over the LYNCH MOB name, George said: "I may have had a few in the 35 years it's been around, but I'd say probably the most negative criticism I've had of it came from me. So I was my own worst critic with the name, especially in later years. I got a lot more criticism with ELECTRIC FREEDOM.

"It's a brand," George explained. "I mean, nobody wants Coke to change their recipe. Just stay the same, and that's what you built over the years. Why would you…? 'Why would you change it' is a rhetorical question. Why I'm probably not more successful in some ways in my career is because I followed my aspirations musically rather than sometimes be smart about just sticking to the plan. [Laughs]"

In August 2020, Lynch announced that he was ending LYNCH MOB due to the racial insensitivity of the moniker, saying he would no longer record or perform under that name.

A few months later, Lynch offered a lengthy explanation for why he was ending LYNCH MOB during an interview with George Dionne of Metal Express Radio. Addressing questions about why it took him three decades to call it quits with LYNCH MOB, George said: "When we first formed the band in '89, the name had sort of already been around. While I was in DOKKEN, it's what I called our little group of guitar fans — I had picks made; it was kind of a little subculture within DOKKEN. When we started working on developing and building the band after DOKKEN broke up, that was just the name that we always thought we'd use, 'cause it was a perfect fit — it's my name, and it describes it pretty well. And, of course, the negative connotations were always there, and I was aware of 'em, but not as aware as I probably should have been. [Laughs]

"I had made numerous attempts over the decades to kind of let that name go and had walked that back for multiple reasons — usually because of business considerations," he continued. "For instance, if you try to go out on a tour and not use the name, promoters aren't gonna be happy with you changing it. People aren't gonna know who you are. They're not gonna show up, because what's THE GEORGE LYNCH EXPERIENCE, or whatever you call it. Or record labels are not interested, because it's a brand that they can count on and sell a certain many albums or whatever.

"For instance, the LYNCH MOB record 'Smoke This' that came out, I think, in '99 or 2000, that was not supposed to be a LYNCH MOB record; that really wasn't anything to do with LYNCH MOB. At the end of the day, after the record was done and we were delivering it to the label, they insisted on using that name as insurance. And if I hadn't agreed to that, we wouldn't have had a record. That's the kind of pressure I'm talking about.

"But then, with the onset of everything that's happened in the last year, I didn't have that kind of pressure anymore," George added. "I could take it or leave it at this point. And I didn't really feel comfortable with it; I didn't feel comfortable with the name. 'Cause I'm a very progressive person politically, and it just so flies in the face of everything I believe in, and it makes it hard. It makes it hard to have relationships with people and explain yourself, and I got tired of rationalizing it. I think the music is bigger than that, and it's had a great run.

"Another reason, too, is the band fell apart again. The band has fallen apart so many times, I can't even count. And it was just, like, 'No more Oni [Logan, vocals], no more Brian Tichy [drums], no more this guy, no more that guy. Oh, great. Now what do I do?' It's, like, 'Okay, build another band from scratch, call it LYNCH MOB?' No. How about just build something new? It gives me a lot more freedom to basically play anything I want live… I can go out and play everything from my catalog — new, old, covers, jams, you name it, and go deep and have fun and change it up every night."

Oni first hooked up with LYNCH MOB in 1990, but exited the group after the release of its first album, only to rejoin the outfit in the late 2000s.

Logan is featured on five of LYNCH MOB's eight albums, including 1990's "Wicked Sensation", as well as 2009's "Smoke And Mirrors", 2014's "Sun Red Sun", 2015's "Rebel" and 2017's "The Brotherhood".

In August 2021, LYNCH MOB celebrated the 30th anniversary of "Wicked Sensation" with a special limited print/deluxe edition of the album. "Wicked Sensation Reimagined" features re-worked and re-recorded versions of the LP's classic songs, and was made available via Rat Pak Records.

In a new interview with Brazil's A Rádio Rock, DEEP PURPLE bassist spoke about the band's plans for the coming months. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Well, we've just undergone a big change, because our guitarist Steve Morse had to retire from the band because he was looking after his very ill wife. And so we have a new guitarist in the band called Simon McBride. And it's a whole experience; I mean, it's a different band."

He continued: "In a way, we have to embrace change. You can't do the same thing over and over again, and we've had several changes, of course, over the years. And this one is particularly exciting. 'Cause we've been working on a new album; we should have a new album out by next year. And we can't stop writing. That's what we do."

In July 2022, Morse officially left PURPLE to care for his wife, Janine, who is battling cancer.

Morse's announcement came four months after the guitarist said that he would be taking a hiatus from the band, in the hope of rejoining his bandmates once his wife's health improved. He was then replaced on the road by McBride.

Morse effectively took over Ritchie Blackmore's DEEP PURPLE slot in 1994 and had since been in the group longer than Ritchie.

McBride, who is guitar player, singer, songwriter and a band leader all in one, hails from Belfast in Northern Ireland — a place that resonates of the best music traditions like Gary Moore and Rory Gallagher, as well as bands such as THIN LIZZY, STIFF LITTLE FINGERS and obviously U2. His biography tells many stories — from his band touring with no sound engineer, driver, or roadie, playing 30 shows in 35 days, to him regularly sharing stages with Gillan and Airey.

DEEP PURPLE's latest album, "Turning To Crime", came out in November 2021 via earMUSIC. The LP contains DEEP PURPLE's versions of great rock classics and musical jewels — including songs originally recorded by Bob Dylan, FLEETWOOD MAC, Bob Seger, CREAM and THE YARDBIRDS — carefully chosen by each member of the band.

Rock stalwarts Clutch have revealed the second release in their series of live show recordings, shared under the collective moniker PA Tapes.


Unveiled today, PA Tapes (Live at King's Head Inn, Norfolk, VA, 4/25/93) marks the 30th anniversary to the day of one of Clutch's earliest shows, recorded at the King's Head Inn in Norfolk, Virginia, on April 25th, 1993. A deep cut sure to delight diehard Clutch fans, the King's Head Inn held barely 100 rock fans and also saw the likes of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Stevie Ray Vaughan grace the stage in its heyday.


Legendary for changing the set list every night, with each band member taking turns in the hot seat, Norfolk's songs that evening were selected by inimitable, story-telling frontman Neil Fallon.




Fallon says, "This is a recording of our set at the legendary King's Head Inn in Norfolk, VA on April 25th, 1993. We had just finished recording Transnational Speedway League and it was due to come out in September of that year. The night prior to this set, we had played in New York City at The Academy with Biohazard, Onyx, and Dog Eat Dog. We can’t recall who else was on the bill this particular night at the King's Head Inn, though. We cleaned up this board tape as best we could. We also didn’t edit out the moments in-between songs because, despite the abundance of noise and the low fidelity, we think it best captures the essence of what a Clutch show was like 30 years ago."


A decade on from boldly declaring, "If you're gonna do it, do it live on stage, or don't do it at all' in their acclaimed single "Earth Rocker", Clutch's PA Tapes comprise meticulously mixed and mastered live shows from around the world. Former Iron Maiden frontman, Blaze Bayley, suffered a heart attack on Sunday, March 26, and recently underwent triple bypass surgery.


Mark Appleton & Christopher Appleton (management / bookings) have issued the following update via Bayley's Facebook page:


"I visited Blaze at home yesterday & although the surgery has been a success I think it's fair to say it's taken its' toll on him.




He's positive, patient & fighting just as you would expect of the warrior he is, but the recovery after such a significant operation is clearly going to be slow.


He's facing 6 weeks before physiotherapy can even begin & that will then most likely be a further 12 weeks beyond.

Swedish bashers Dark Tranquillity have checked in with the following update:


"We're very excited to report that the preparations for the next D.T. album are in full progress. The songs are getting more and more complete every week as we are tweaking the details and perfecting the riffs. More information will be revealed in the near future, but rest assured that things are sounding great and we can't wait for you to hear the music that we're working on."

Auryah, a progressive power metal band from São Paulo, Brazil - lead by the experienced vocalist Lean Van Ranna, who has played in many (inter)national bands and projects (Kin Wagon, King Of Salem, Excalibur, Menahem, A Taste Of Freedom, Masterful, Melodius Deite, etc.), - would like to announce the definitive resumption of its activities with a brand new lineup.


Beyond Lean Van Ranna (vocals), they have Paulinho Bahiense (guitar), James Freitas (keyboards/Seth), Alessandro Kelvin (drums/P3rception/Flavio Brandão Stratosphere Project) and Anderson Sherman (bass/producer/Kin Wagon).


As an introduction to this new lineup, the band will soon release a new single that will be a great surprise and a tribute to a musician and Lean's great idol and influence. For now it is a surprise. After this release, the band will dive headfirst into the composition of Auryah's debut full album, to be released in - who knows - 2023!




Auryah has always had lyrics based on the Bible, Christian experiences, positivity and politics, written by Lean and his lyricist partner Carlos Nogarolli, but this has never stopped them from being among secular bands, achieving the respect of both audiences.

At the beginning of April, the band started to make their entire discography available on main digital music platforms. If you don't know the band's sound, you should give it some attention, because you won't be disappointed! Stay tuned.





Formed in 2008, in São Paulo, Brazil, by Lean Van Ranna, under the nickname Southern Lights, they had to change their name due to an American band with the same name, adopting Auryah, which means 'Morning Star' in the Slovenian language, and also, the junction of the words 'aureo' (magnificent, like gold) and 'yah' (God's name found in chapter 6 of the book Isaiah).


They went through many reformulations and some career hiatuses, but counts in their discography,a demo, 4 ep's and 2 singles released, all with good reception from the public and critics, some being played on several Brazilian and American radio stations. "Looking For Salvation", from 2021, their last and most recent release so far, presented countless elements of Brazilian and Latin music, bringing several regional percussive instruments, besides arrangements of Peruvian quena (native flute). Due to all this, a great (positive) impact was also formed due to the similarity to the Brazilian Metal bands like Angra and Shaman.

Heretic Plague’s “Briefcase Full Of Cutlery” video is available for streaming below. The song is found on the English grindcore duo’s caustic debut album, Context Is A Stumbling Corpse, out now on Selfmadegod Records.





Born on the fractured and hope-starved shores of the UK, Heretic Plague blends a wide range of influences into a savage cocktail of extremity, the band was created by guitarist/bassist Adam Watts, an original member of cult UK grind band Beef Conspiracy, joined by his former bandmate Tom Bradfield who provides vocals and beats for the project. Bradfield is also a member of the bands Repulsive Dissection, Twitch Of The Death Nerve, Infected Disarray, and operates the label Grindethic Records. Together, the duo introduces a vile brew of death-infused grind with horror aesthetics in the vein of Nasum, Cryptopsy, early Brutal Truth, and Pig Destroyer.




Context Is A Stumbling Corpse was recorded at Grindethic HQ, mixed and mastered by Tom Bradfield, and completed with artwork and layout by Bradfield and Midjourney


The new video for “Briefcase Full Of Cutlery” was filmed at Mill Hill Music Complex, with photography and direction by the band.


With its release, Bradfield states, “‘Briefcase Full Of Cutlery’ was one of the first tracks written by the band and the all-out death grind assault made it an obvious choice for our first promo clip. What do you keep in your briefcase? Well Heretic Plague keeps a selection of fine vintage cutlery, perfect for a bit of the old ultraviolence, and just the right fit for the average eye socket.”

Portuguese blackened death metal band, Dishonour, have released a lyric video for "Erasing The Rats", the title track of their upcoming EP, out on May 25 via Theogonia Records.





Dishonour's unique blend of death and black metal, combined with its Luciferian vision, will leave you in awe. Featuring four tracks that showcase their brutal and wise style, this EP is not one to be missed.
