CHUCK WRIGHT Says His Latest Departure From QUIET RIOT 'Couldn't Have Come At A Better Time'Longtime QUIET RIOT bassist Chuck Wright spoke to Tulsa Music Stream about his latest departure from the band. Last summer, it was announced that Wright would be leaving the group to make way for the return of Rudy Sarzo, who was coming back to QUIET RIOT after an 18-year absence.
Asked if he was surprised to see Sarzo rejoining QUIET RIOT, Wright responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Did it surprise me? No. It's happened three or four times maybe before, so it didn't surprise me at all, honestly. And truthfully, it couldn't have come at a better time for me because I was finishing up [my solo] record. And I'd been on the road since 2011 constantly and I was just burnt. So I was ready for a break from it, honestly. So, to me, it was welcome. When I got the call, [I was], like, you're doing me a favor 'cause if I keep doing this kind of schedule, it's gonna kill me. 'Cause it was pretty brutal. We were taking red-eye flights and no sleep ever. It was pretty brutal. And it's still like that. I saw their schedule [for 2022]. And I'm glad I'm at home and working [on promoting my solo album]. So it's all good for me."
Wright had served off and on with QUIET RIOT for nearly 40 years, appeared on nine albums, and was known as the bassist for QUIET RIOT's mega-hit "Metal Health" (Bang Your Head) and "Don't Wanna Let You Go". He was a contributing songwriter on 1986's "QRIII" and appeared in the band's video for "The Wild And The Young", among others. Wright had been one of QUIET RIOT's longest touring and recording members.
Sarzo appeared in the most notable music videos in the MTV age and toured with the band until 1985 and again from 1997 to 2003. During his years out of the band, Sarzo was a member of OZZY OSBOURNE, WHITESNAKE, DIO, BLUE ÖYSTER CULT, QUEENSRŸCHE and THE GUESS WHO.
Regarding how his return to QUIET RIOT came about, Rudy told SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk": "After Frankie told me in 2019 that he had pancreatic cancer, and then he started his fight, it was a daily fight. I mean, he would be taking multiple treatments to fight it, and he would be touring. And so it was really an exhausting thing. So we stopped kind of hanging out as much because, obviously, he was too tired. So we would text each other a lot, every day, and stay in touch.
"He let me know in April of 2019 [that he was diagnosed with cancer], and COVID happened in 2020," Rudy continued. "That really made it impossible for me to be in his presence. It wasn't until a couple of days before he passed away that I was able to go to his house. Regina [his wife] requested it, and I spent time with him. And then, the following day, when he was taken to the hospital, Regina made it possible for me to be with Frankie for his last hours. So, after Frankie passed away, I went over to Regina's house, and we talked, and she expressed to me that Frankie wanted me to come back to the band, that he wanted to have a founding member there in the band. So, we talked about that.
"I was already traumatized by Frankie's passing, so it was a decision that I had to take a lot of time to think about it — let the mourning period [pass]," Rudy added. "I had to do that. So, the time came when I was ready to accept the reality, that it's our responsibility, of us left behind, to carry on with the legacy and celebrate it. So that's when I decided. I said, 'Okay, it's time for me to come home.'"
Chuck's debut solo album "Chuck Wright's Sheltering Sky", was released on May 20. It features over 30 guest performers, including members of MR. BIG, SKID ROW, TESLA, DREAM THEATER, JANE'S ADDICTION, ASIA, JEFFERSON STARSHIP, acclaimed solo artists Allen Hinds, Toshi Yanagi, Whitney Tai and many others. It covers a wide range of genres, from jazz fusion, prog, funk, to in-your-face hard rock, and is widely available on CD and all digital platforms on the Cleopatra Records label.

Austrian rock and metal empire, Napalm Records, has announced their exciting new partnership with Cradle Of Filth, who have just signed a worldwide contract with the label.
Positioned firmly at the top of the extreme black metal genre, Cradle Of Filth - led and revolutionized by iconic frontman Dani Filth - reign supreme as one of the most revered, formative and notorious names in the scene, and are undeniably responsible for breaking ground for many of today’s top metal artists with their trademark mixture of grim blackened heaviness, macabre theatricality and scintillating gothic style. The rule of Filth began in 1991, followed by the unleashing of 1994’s The Principle Of Evil Made Flesh - humble beginnings that expanded into cinematic classics like Cruelty And The Beast and Midian.
The band’s unyielding international touring schedule has garnered them a massive following both in the cult underground and at the top of the mainstream, defying trends while staying true to their roots. More recent offerings such as 2015’s Hammer Of The Witches and 2017’s Cryptoriana - The Seductiveness Of Decay continued to bolster the unremitting legacy of Filth, until the band, along with the rest of the universe, was abruptly halted by the global pandemic in 2020.
But, as is evident by the staggering response from their devoted legion of followers, that time was put to good use, spurring the emergence of the band’s latest, breathtakingly heavy offering, 2021’s Existence Is Futile. The album debuted at #20 on the Billboard 200 with Hard Rock Genre, on the Hard Music Albums charts at #4 in the US and #5 in Canada, #9 on the German Album charts, #3 and #5 on the UK Rock & Metal Albums chart and UK Independent Albums chart respectively, #4 on the Finnish Albums chart and many more, proving that Cradle Of Filth continue to own the dark.
Now, Napalm Records is honoured to deliver the band’s haunting hallmark to the masses as their musical panorama reaches into the future.
Cradle Of Filth mastermind Dani Filth says: “It is with great expectation and excitement that we announce our move to Napalm Records, having seen and heard a great deal of complimentary things about the label, which in turn leads us to believe that this will be the perfect nesting ground for Cradle Of Filth in 2022 and beyond. We’d like to thank all our fans for their continued support and trust in us doing the right thing for the band and its music. All hail the eternal ‘Filth!”
Thomas Caser, CEO, Napalm Records adds: “We are thrilled to welcome the most influential and iconic extreme metal band to our ever-growing Napalm Records family. Being a fan of the band since their very first album, it is with great honor and excitement that we’re able to work with them from now on! We are ready to conquer the metal world with Cradle Of Filth!”

BLACKWATER DROWNING Release “Mortal Coil” Music VideoNorth Carolina's Blackwater Drowning have released the second single from their upcoming full-length album. The melodic death metal outfit is proud to share a new music video for the song "Mortal Coil" which can be found below.
The debut LP from Blackwater Drowning, 'Sonder//'Satori', will see a July 8, 2022 via Blood Blast Distribution.
Speaking about the music video for "Mortal Coil", the band comments:
“Thematically, this song speaks to the visceral desire to look beyond the mere physical aspects of this world and into the elements beyond our understanding. The video takes a hard, metaphorical look at breaking the binds that entrap us in the cyclical thought patterns that do not serve us. We used the rope art of Shibari to visually illustrate the concept of these intangible ties that affix us all to the mortal plane. The rope art was beautifully executed by local artist Devin Parker of Parker Rope Works, and the video was masterfully captured by videography legend Sabrina Lee.”
Commenting on Sonder//Satori, vocalist Morgan Riley shares: “We are so excited to finally release our debut full-length album! This is a culmination of all our collective years writing music separately and as a group, and we couldn’t be more proud. Sonder//Satori is a collection of songs about a wide range of subjects, ranging from addiction, betrayal, abuse of power, astrophysics, the corporate rat race, and personal growth. Sonder means realizing every stranger you meet has a life as vivid and fully realized as your own, and Satori is the inner experience of enlightenment, indescribable and unintelligible to reason and logic. Together, we felt it really spoke to the overall theme of wonder, growth, and great personal revelations, both good and bad. We are so thrilled to be partnering with Blood Blast for this release and can’t wait to see where we go together!”
Sonder//Satori tracklisting:
"The Fifth Element"
"Abyssal" (Feat. Brian Kingsland)

BRUTTA Feat. Past / Present HAKEN, ATHEMON Members Streaming New Single "Devon"Brutta is blackened death metal hailing from São Paulo, Brazil, and the UK. They are a new arrangement of three seasoned musicians including drummer Gledson Gonçalves; guitarist/vocalist Adriano Ribeiro (Athemon) and bassist Tom MacLean (Athemon, ex-Haken). Together they have but one mission, to bring the heaviest music they can muster and melt the faces off fans everywhere at live performances and on record. They are excited to be releasing their debut self-titled album this year to fully show the metal world what they are made of and what they can bring to the scene.
Brutta has a second single out now entitled “Devon” where the listener is transported inside the mind of a sociopathic individual who is locked up in the confines of Devon, a prison made for violent offenders. This prisoner can’t wait to escape to continue pursuing his victims. The band explains further:
“Starting with a deliberate expression of the desire to kill, our character murmurs a creepy, evil, scary melody. Pleased by the voices in his head, a prisoner to his own sick mind, he unleashes the desire to hurt and provoke horror. The instrumental is filled with dark melodies causing a very obscure sentiment. With a very strong chorus, the song transforms into a memorable experience of assault and battery, as in the end, our prisoner seems to jailbreak.”
“Devon” is the seventh of eight tracks, each one more pummeling and unforgiving than the last. They span themes such as religion and disturbed individuals, all with blast beats, brutal gutturals, and death metal riffs. They take all of their influences and wind them together into something daring, mysterious, and unforgettable. They are recommended listening for those with an interest in Bloodbath, Dark Funeral, and Morbid Angel.
The album will be released on June 17, 2022; preorder on Bandcamp.

Watch WHITESNAKE Perform In Helsinki During Farewell TourFan-filmed video of WHITESNAKE's June 6 concert at Helsinki Ice Hall (Helsingin Jäähalli) in Helsinki, Finland can be seen below.
WHITESNAKE launched its farewell tour on May 10 at Dublin, Ireland's 3Arena. The band's 14-song set, which was part of a European tour with special guests EUROPE and co-headliners FOREIGNER, marked WHITESNAKE's inaugural performance with the group's two latest two additions, keyboardist, guitarist and backing vocalist Dino Jelusick, and Irish bassist Tanya O'Callaghan.
WHITESNAKE kicked off the concert with "Bad Boys" / "Children Of The Night" and played a set which drew heavily from the "Trouble" (1978),"Ready An' Willing" (1980),"Saints & Sinners" (1982),"Slide It In" (1984),"Whitesnake" (1987) and "Flesh & Blood" (2019) albums. WHITESNAKE also performed its staple cover of "Ain't No Love In The Heart Of The City", a 1974 R&B song written by Michael Price and Dan Walsh, and first recorded by Bobby "Blue" Bland for the "Dreamer" album.
In a recent interview with Finland's Chaoszine, WHITESNAKE guitarist Joel Hoekstra spoke about the farewell tour. He said: "Well, it's everybody's opportunity to come out and say goodbye to [WHITESNAKE leader] David [Coverdale] and have David say thank you for a wonderful 50 years or so. So he's been quite emotional on some of the shows already here out of the gate. I think it's an emotional tour for him. He just wants to thank everybody for a wonderful career, which I think is lovely."
Coverdale, who turned 70 in September, recently opened up about his plans to retire from touring after the band's next batch of concerts around the world, telling the "Appetite For Distortion" podcast: "I planned to retire on the 2020 tour when I was 69. I thought that was the perfect age for the singer of WHITESNAKE to call it a day. But sadly, it was not to be, as we know; other events were in store. So now the t-shirt designs don't resonate as well for 70. But it's mind-blowing to me that I'm preparing my farewell tour. And it is — make no mistake, this is the farewell tour. I'm 70. It's a very physically challenging thing for me to do at the best of times. But it's very important for me to achieve completion and to express my appreciation and gratitude to all the people — the millions of people over the years — who've supported me for five decades, fifty years. It blows my mind — it really does."
"A lot of my peers and contemporaries are on their 20th retirement tour. I don't intend to plan that," he clarified. "I must explain, though — it's me, just David Coverdale, who's retiring from touring at that level. WHITESNAKE will still make projects. I've been writing music all through COVID. I wrote some beautiful new ideas. I have ideas in case Jimmy [Page] wants to do anything — write on FaceTime, which is an alien concept to him. But all songs that we can utilize for a WHITESNAKE project. But the music of WHITESNAKE will continue. That's most important that people know. I'm just stopping touring at this level — that's it."
According to Coverdale, there could very well be new music from WHITESNAKE in the years following his retirement from the road.
"I've got a bunch of ideas for WHITESNAKE, so we may have another project there — I don't know — without the pressure of having to go on tour," he said. "We have such a solid fanbase, I think fans are gonna buy the record with or without a tour. This is just emotionally for me to be able to go out there and do stuff. And also, you've gotta remember, we've started this legacy series of box sets, similar to the 25th anniversary. We have, I think, the 35th anniversary of 'Slide It In'; the 30th anniversary of the WHITESNAKE '87 album; we have a very special project planned to accompany the tour; we have another box set planned for this time next year. And then in 2023, we have the 30th anniversary of COVERDALE/PAGE, and the 50th anniversary of me joining DEEP PURPLE. Mind-blowing. So it's not like I'm retiring. [Laughs]
"Thankfully, physically and vocally, I still have the goods," he continued. "As my wife reminds me, I was actually touring up to spring in 2020, before lockdown. And I was 68 years old, and I'm still kicking ass. Of course, having an amazing band and an incredible and enthusiastic audience gives you that energizing aspect. It's just the traveling is challenging for me. But music is oxygen to me. I'm not gonna go fishing or take up crochet; I'm gonna definitely be doing projects. I'm lucky enough to have my own studio. It's the best of a bunch of worlds. And I have to thank people in person around the world for helping me to be in this position that I am in my life at this time. I don't wanna do it through a video [on] social media: 'Sorry we can't get out there, but thank you for 50 years.' That would be heartbreaking for me."
Coverdale had both his knees replaced with titanium in 2017 after suffering from degenerative arthritis. He later explained that he was in so much pain with arthritis in his knees that it hampered his ability to perform live.
Prior to the pandemic, WHITESNAKE had been touring in support of its latest album, "Flesh & Blood", which was released in May 2019 via Frontiers Music Srl. 2

DEF LEPPARD Lands Eighth Top 10 Album In U.S. With 'Diamond Star Halos'According to Billboard, DEF LEPPARD's latest album, "Diamond Star Halos", sold 34,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in its first week of release to land at position No. 10 on the Billboard 200 chart. It marks the band's eighth top 10 LP.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album.
Of "Diamond Star Halos"' 34,000 units earned for the week, album sales comprise 32,000, SEA units comprise 2,000 (equaling 2.7 million on-demand official streams of the album’s songs) and TEA units comprise less than 500 units.
DEF LEPPARD's previous Top 10 albums include "Pyromania" (which peaked at No. 2 in 1983),"Hysteria" (No. 1 for six weeks in 1988),"Adrenalize" (No. 1 for five weeks in 1992),"Retro Active" (No. 9; 1983),"Rock Of Ages: The Definitive Collection" (No. 10; 2005),"Songs From The Sparkle Lounge" (No. 5; 2008) and "Def Leppard" (No. 10; 2015).
DEF LEPPARD vocalist Joe Elliott recently told Rock Candy that the album format is still important — at least for his band.
"When we got together in 2014 we noticed a trend of people releasing one song a month," Elliott said. "They might bang them all together on an album two years later. Other people were just doing EPs. Maybe for a younger generation, an album isn't important, because they didn't grow up when it was. But we did. We grew up in the era of 'Ziggy Stardust', 'Dark Side Of The Moon', 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road' — the greatest double album of all time, in my humble opinion. That's where we come from. You can't unscramble an egg. We invested in laying on the bed and looking at the sleeve, reading every word."
DEF LEPPARD is set to launch "The Stadium Tour" with MÖTLEY CRÜE and guests POISON and JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS on June 16 in Atlanta, Georgia. The 36-date trek, which is due to wrap September 9 in Las Vegas, was originally scheduled to take place in the summer of 2020 but ended up being pushed back to 2021, and then to 2022, due to the coronavirus crisis.
When it happens, "The Stadium Tour" will mark the CRÜE's first live dates since wrapping its 2014/2015 farewell tour. CRÜE toured with POISON back in 2011 and DEF LEPPARD teamed up with POISON for a string of road dates in 2017, but the upcoming jaunt marks the first time all four acts have hit the road together for an extended tour.

SYSTEM OF A DOWN's SERJ TANKIAN Releases New Single 'Amber'SYSTEM OF A DOWN singer Serj Tankian will release a new folk/classical song titled "Amber" sung in his native Armenian language this Wednesday, June 8, to audiences worldwide. It was written with Tankian's cultural homeland in mind. The song title "Amber" (pronounced "ahm-be'r") actually means "clouds" in Armenian and is allegorical in context.
Tankian explains: "'Amber' was written in 2017 after I visited Armenia along with my friends Atom and Arsinée Egoyan and Eric Nazarian as members of the coalition 'Justice For Armenia' to serve as election monitors for the Parliamentary elections. I was so distraught by the slick theft of the elections before ever reaching the ballot box that I wrote this song as a response. The lyrics, however, seem to be more poignant today when Armenians are divided politically and socially following the devastating attack on Nagorno-Karabagh and Armenia by Azerbaijan and Turkey in 2020 and the continuous fallout over negotiations with those two dictatorial regimes. 'Amber''s message is that of unity and harmony. Those are the only truly powerful weapons of the Armenian nation."
The final version of the track was completed in 2022 and features additional vocals from Sevak Amroyan, another notable Armenian singer performing alongside Tankian. Amroyan is revered in the motherland and throughout the diaspora for his soulful crooning of traditional and modern Armenian folk songs.
On his decision to include Amroyan on the definitive version of "Amber", Tankian states: "Sevak's voice has a unique strength harking back to our people's native lands. I loved listening to his songs like 'Yarkhushta' so when we met I was excited to work on something with him."
Amroyan, who is based in Yerevan, has grown up through many of the highs and low points of Armenia's burgeoning democracy since the collapse of the Soviet Union. His decision to join Serj on singing of "Amber" is explained in his words: "Naturally, I have listened to Serj Tankian's music since childhood and always with a sense of pride. After getting acquainted with him, I realized that in addition to being an iconic musician he's also a very proud Armenian. I am happy about our collaboration and thankful to Serj that we're singing 'Amber' together. It's a great honor for me."
The music video for "Amber" premiered moments ago and can be watched below. Directed by Hrag Yedalian, the clip showcases Tankian and Amroyan flanking each other in frame singing their parts while a young boy (Darren Chilingirian) takes center stage on screen with a sketchbook in hand. As the video progresses, the boy begins flipping through the sketchbook to reveal handwritten phrases and contextual images from within the song's Armenian lyrics. As "Amber" crescendos, the boy begins to crumble up the sketch book pages, and throws them to the ground. While the final notes of the song are performed, the camera pans down to see that the crumbled-up pages have formed into the map of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabagh (known in Armenia and the diaspora as Artsakh). Lyrics (in both Armenian and English translation) for "Amber" can be found on Serj's YouTube page.
Tankian has pursued justice for many socio-political causes globally throughout his personal and professional career, often using music as a tool to inspire and unify voices for thoughtful change. "Amber" is the most recent chapter in this lifelong effort.

The new LP is called March Of The Obsequious, and it comes out four years after the last effort, Chapter X. The 10-song album will be released digitally on August 26 and on CD/vinyl on September 16 via GMR Music Group.
March Of The Obsequious follows the same path as their three recent releases, albeit with a small nod to the sound of 80s and 90s without sounding less fresh and modern. For this album, the band brought in Andreas Silén (ex-Lack Of Faith & Propane Headrush) to co-handle the guitars alongside Christer “Krunt” Andersson, as well as Johan Löfgren on bass.
The album was recorded & mixed at Studio Claustrophobic by Ronny Hemlin & Johan Löfgren and mastered by Jonas Kjellgren at Black Lounge.
Some words from Christer “Krunt” Andersson about the new album: “All the 10 new songs are very much Tad Morose Metal, lots of variations and some weird stuff. I recorded my guitars in my own studio and the rest is recorded and mixed at Studio Claustrophobic by Ronny and Johan. They did a great job as always! So almost everything on this album is done by ourselves, writing, recording and mixing. Peter did the artwork and layout for the album cover. The only thing we didn't do was the mastering, which was yet again done by Jonas Kjellgren at Black Lounge Studios. I hope you like this one! Crank it up! Play LOUD! Cheers!”

As with their debut album, Mariangela's fellow Tristania member Tarald Lie contributes to the songwriting on Anatomy Of A Moment, teaming with the band's core members for another exciting and creative album. The band also leans more heavily into their '80s influences on this release, expanding their musical horizons even more.
Mariangela’s vision was for Ardours to be a melting pot of different personalities to add to the unique flavor of the songwriting, so she decided to ask Tristania's drummer/lyricist Tarald Lie to participate in the creation of the band's music. The mix of these three personalities/musical elements has resulted in a fresh and promising style. The gothic atmosphere created in the mesh of the lyrics and the catchy melodies create a simultaneously energetic, yet dream-like sound that can calm and energize you, depending on your mood. Ardours has rock and '80s influences, including a bit of new wave sound, a genre that Mariangela and Kris love. Tarald Lie, Tristania's drummer, is involved in writing the lyrics as he was on the band's debut album.
Originally formed in 2015, Ardours was the product of Mariangela and Kris' longstanding friendship from both of their involvements in the Sardinian (Italian) metal scene. In 2006, Mariangela moved from Italy and joined the Norwegian band Tristania, but she and Kris always kept in touch. In late 2015, having always admired one another's musical talents, they decided to join forces. Hard work and dedication were the key tenets for their debut album Last Place On Earth and their upcoming sophomore release, Anatomy Of A Moment.

QUEEN To Drop Previously Unreleased Song Featuring FREDDIE MERCURYQUEEN's Roger Taylor and Brian May have revealed that they have unearthed a previously unreleased song by the band featuring late frontman Freddie Mercury. The track was recorded in 1988 during the sessions for QUEEN's 13th studio album, "The Miracle".
Speaking to BBC Radio 2 ahead of QUEEN's performance with Adam Lambert at Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee concert last weekend, Taylor said: "We did find a little gem from Freddie that we'd kind of forgotten about. And it's wonderful. Actually, it was a real discovery. It's from 'The Miracle' sessions and I think it's going to be out in September."
Asked who found the track, which is titled "Face It Alone", May replied: "It was kind of hiding in plain sight. We looked at it many times and thought, 'Oh no, we can't really rescue that.' But in fact, we went in there again and our wonderful engineering team went, 'Okay, we can do this and this.' It's like stitching bits together. But it's beautiful. It's touching."
Taylor added: "It's a very passionate piece."
In a November 2020 interview with TalkRADIO's Kevin O'Sullivan Show, May was asked what it was like to stand next to Mercury on stage every night during QUEEN's heyday. He responded: "Challenging and always entertaining. He was a very unpredictable guy, but wonderful to work with. He had a great spatial awareness, and that's something very important. If you're working with people on a stage, you need to have musical contact, but you also need the kind of physical chemistry going on — the awareness of where you are and where you're aiming your energy. Freddie was wonderful for that, and we just clicked from the very beginning. From the days when he was very much a training singer, but he had all the presentation, he had that connection, and it was his amazing kind of skill that he managed to bring himself up to the point where he was using his talent to the best end. He really did work on himself. He was an incredible self-made man."
As for what the highlight was from QUEEN's time with Mercury, May said: "Well, you'd have to say Live Aid. And it was so strange kind of reliving it for the ['Bohemian Rhapsody'] movie recently. They recreated it so incredibly faithfully, and to be there on that set was really spine chilling; it brought it all back. And at the time, we weren't aware of what an epoch-making thing it was, really. We came off [stage thinking], 'Well, that went kind of okay.' But we didn't realize that it had made such a lasting impression on the ether. 'Cause it sort of lives on, doesn't it?"
Mercury was diagnosed with AIDS in 1987 and battled the disease in private, telling only a select few close friends in the years which followed. He died in November 1991.
Released in November 2018, QUEEN's biopic "Bohemian Rhapsody" has become the highest-grossing musical biopic of all time, bringing in more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office. It was also No. 1 biggest-selling film of 2019 on home release.
QUEEN's six-song performance at Live Aid serves as the triumphant finale for "Bohemian Rhapsody", starring Rami Malek as Mercury.
"American Idol" runner-up Lambert has been fronting QUEEN on tour since 2012. May told TalkRADIO about the singer: "He can do everything that we need a frontman to do. He's not imitating Freddie, but he's very much a parallel talen in terms of his expertise as a singer."
Lambert, May and Taylor first performed together during "American Idol" in May 2009 for a rendition of "We Are The Champions". They teamed up again in 2011 at the MTV European Music Awards in Belfast, Ireland for an electrifying eight-minute finale of "The Show Must Go On", "We Will Rock You" and "We Are The Champions" and in the summer of 2012, the singer performed a series of shows with QUEEN across Europe as well as dates in Russia, Ukraine and Poland. They have since completed a number of tours and performed at some of the biggest festivals in the world. 1

BEHEMOTH - "Here’s A Look Back At Our Biggest Show In LA To Date"; VideoBehemoth have released the video below, captured during The North American Siege Tour 2022 with Arch Enemy, Napalm Death and Unto Others.
Says the band: "Legions! Thank you to everyone that came out to see The North American Siege, here’s a look back at our biggest show in LA to date. 🔥 Our good friend Josh Barnett also stopped by to hang out with the Behemoth Wolfpack and celebrate our first US tour back."
Behemoth recently announced their 12th studio album, Opvs Contra Natvram - their most thought-provoking and arresting collection to date. The album is set for release on September 16 via Nuclear Blast.
The 10 chapters of fury that make up Opvs Contra Natvram were written and recorded over the course of a very strange year for the globe - a situation which only heightened the level of craft seen in these 43 minutes and 15 seconds of searing wrath. As with previous studio outings, Opvs… was produced by Behemoth, with mixing handled by acclaimed studio legend Joe Barresi (Nine Inch Nails, Tool, QOTSA, Alice in Chains).
Renowned for his meticulous attention to detail and absolute creative control of Behemoth's world, frontman and band visionary, Adam "Nergal" Darski reveled in the depressurized environment afforded by the pandemic. It meant that for nearly the first time since the band's inception over 30 years ago, there was no deadline to observe, allowing for a nearly unprecedented level of attention to the process of writing and recording.
Beyond any confines of genre, Behemoth have grown to become nothing less than the personification of rebellion, individuality, and unflinching self-expression informed by a literate worldview and worldliness that's resulted in a locking of horns with everything from the mainstream press to the Polish Catholic church - most notably manifesting in Nergal's trial for blasphemy in 2010 that only served to expose the deep-seated hypocrisies that his music seeks to challenge.
"The album title means going against the current," Nergal states. "It's the negative of the values and morals and ethics that I stand against. I've seriously been wrestling with destructive tendencies in pop culture - cancel culture, social media, and tools which I feel are very dangerous weapons in the hands of people who are not competent to judge others. That's something which I find very destructive and disturbing - and extremely limiting coming from an artists' perspective. This is my middle finger to that. There's a song on the record called 'Neo-Spartacvs.' Spartacus was one of the most iconic rebels in history who went against the most powerful empire of all time. In the end, it's me screaming, 'I Am Spartacus, and so are you!' I want to spark that flame of rebellion. If something seems wrong then stand up to it!"
Opvs Contra Natvram features twin cover art available in both black and white and will be released in the following array of physical formats designed by Bartek Rogalewicz (Lodge.Black), certain to thrill collectors of limited editions:

JOURNEY Releases New Single 'Don't Give Up On Us'Legendary rockers JOURNEY have released a visualizer video for "Don't Give Up On Us". The song is taken from the band's upcoming album, "Freedom", which will arrive on July 8 via BMG except in Europe and Japan, where it will be issued via Frontiers Music Srl.
Emerging from the pandemic with a supercharged new studio lineup, "Don't Give Up On Us" will be followed by an epic 15-track set of new original songs that brings back the grand scale of the group's greatest moments, along with updated and bold new directions and sounds.
JOURNEY founding member, guitarist, songwriter and producer Neal Schon stated about the track: "It is a very melodic song. It's soulful, coming more from that R&B place and a little more Motown sounding but it definitely rocks. I feel like it's got JOURNEY all over it."
While the forthcoming album was made with visions of arena and stadium stages, it started from humble beginnings. In 2020, as COVID-19 swept the globe, Schon was stuck at home like the rest of us. "During the pandemic, there wasn't much to do," he says. "I spent a lot of time in my little studio at home, learning how to play keyboards and looping. Some of those ideas ended up being songs. So it kind of came out of nowhere."
As JOURNEY's legend continues to grow larger and their touring gets bigger, "Freedom" will be the first album of new material to be released in 11 years, since 2011's "Eclipse", and in addition to longtime keyboard player and primary lyricist Jonathan Cain and vocalist Arnel Pineda, one more member was recruited for the upcoming album — bassist extraordinaire Randy Jackson, who had played on JOURNEY's 1986 album "Raised On Radio".
"Freedom" track listing:
01. Together We Run (4:49)
02. Don't Give Up On Us (5:23)
03. Still Believe In Love
04. You Got The Best Of Me (5:33)
05. Live To Love Again (5:30)
06. The Way We Used To Be (3:35)
07. Come Away With Me (4:02)
08. After Glow (5:22)
09. Let It Rain (4:40)
10. Holdin On (3:14)
11. All Day All Night (3:38)
12. Don't Go (4:58)
13. United We Stand (5:05)
14. Life Rolls On (4:57)
15. Beautiful As You Are (7:10)
JOURNEY's current touring lineup features bassist Todd Jensen, a veteran musician who has played for various artists, including the bands SEQUEL, HARDLINE and HARLOW, as well as David Lee Roth, Ozzy Osbourne, Steve Perry, Alice Cooper and Paul Rodgers. Also part of JOURNEY's current incarnation is returning drummer Deen Castronovo, who shared the drum duties in the band last year with Narada Michael Walden. Walden, Jackson and keyboardist/backing singer Jason Derlatka all joined JOURNEY in 2020 following the band's acrimonious split with drummer Steve Smith and bassist Ross Valory. Jackson — who previously played with JOURNEY during the mid-1980s — was forced to miss all the recent gigs because he is reportedly recovering from back surgery. Prior to JOURNEY's recent Las Vegas residency, Jackson had been replaced at the band's 2021 shows by Marco Mendoza, who had played several shows in 2019 with Castronovo and Schon under the "Neal Schon's Journey Through Time" banner.
"Freedom" includes the single "The Way We Used To Be", which came out in June 2021. The song was the multi-platinum band's first new music since 2011's album "Eclipse", and the first track released by the band's revamped lineup. "The Way We Used To Be" marked Walden and Derlatka's first studio recordings with the band, and Jackson's first since 1986's "Raised On Radio". The song was produced by Walden at his Tarpan Studios, with co-production by Schon and keyboardist Jonathan Cain.
Since the group's formation in 1973, JOURNEY has earned 19 top 40 singles, 25 gold and platinum albums, and has sold nearly 100 million albums globally. Their "Greatest Hits" album is certified 15 times-platinum, making JOURNEY one of the few bands to ever have been diamond-certified, and their song "Don't Stop Believin'" has been streamed over one billion times alone.
JOURNEY was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2017, and 2018's co-headlining tour with DEF LEPPARD was the band's most successful tour to date, landing them in the Top 10 year-end touring chart with more than 1 million tickets sold, and earning them the prestigious Billboard "Legends Of Live" touring award. March 2019 saw the release of "Escape & Frontiers Live In Japan", a live DVD/CD set from their concert at the Budokan in Tokyo featuring the band's first-ever performances of the albums "Escape" and "Frontiers" in their entirety. JOURNEY has also received a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame and were inducted into the Hollywood Bowl Hall Of Fame. Additionally, the band is the subject of the award-winning documentary "Don't Stop Believin': Everyman's Journey" about the band's resurgence upon adding Arnel Pineda as lead singer after founding member Neal Schon discovered the Philippines native on YouTube.
Last August, Schon gave a college radio simulcast interview to WMSC and WNUW where he discussed the progress of the songwriting and recording sessions for the band's upcoming studio album. He said: "I learned how to play keyboards better than ever during the pandemic, which I'd never really done before. And that's where our first single ['The Way We Used To Be'] came from. [I sent it to] Jonathan [Cain, keyboards], and he did the lyrics on it and put a rough vocal on it. And then we had Arnel sing it, and we cut it and re-cut it in the studio, and it was just released. And a lot of people went, 'Wow, man. I love it.' 90 percent of people love it; the other 10 percent went, 'I don't think it sounds like JOURNEY.' I go, 'I never wrote it to be a JOURNEY song.'"
According to Schon, he and his bandmates had written over 30 new songs for the upcoming JOURNEY record. "Some of 'em are unmistakably JOURNEY without sounding like another song that we have; it just sounds like a new version of the band," he said. "It's ballistic, man. And there's no lack of guitar on this record. So I'm excited about it getting out there. I think any guitar player out there is gonna love this record, because I'm just kind of unleashing on this record — like I do a lot live, but sometimes hold back in the studio. I don't think it's O.D.ing on the guitar at all and going overboard, but I like to check out the times and where I see music going. I usually have a pretty good gut instinct about it, and I feel like the late '60s, the time and era of early Jeff Beck with Rod Stewart and [LED] ZEPPELIN when they first came out, Jimi Hendrix, the CREAM with [Eric] Clapton and Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker, that whole era, there's a lot of younger kids out there, younger generation, that never got to experience that era. So I'm feeling like that is the era that I grew up in and that's what I truly love doing and the type of music I love playing, so I'm going more there and I'm writing for that, to be able to do that on stage. And I think it's really gonna trip some people out, when we finally do get this album out there and can combine it with all the hits that we do have."
He continued: "There's certain songs that are being mixed by Bob Clearmountain, that mixed our 'Raised On Radio' record, and he's made it sound really amazing, really pulled it together. You have mixers out there sometimes that have this incredible ability to take work that you've done throughout a year, even though they were recorded at separate times, and different sounds here and there, and they pull it all together and they make it sound like it's a tight album that has a focus sound-wise."
Neal added: "The whole album, there's not a filler on the record; that's what I can tell you. I look at it, and I'm listening to it now, and many others that have known our music for a long time that have very good ears have said, 'Look, this is the modern-day-and-age 'Escape'. I think this could be the next 'Escape' for you guys.' And I think that's a bold statement, but honest to God, I feel like it's that good."

LAMB OF GOD Announces 'Omens' Album, Summer/Fall 2022 Tour With KILLSWITCH ENGAGERichmond, Virginia metallers LAMB OF GOD will release a new album, "Omens", on October 7 via Epic Records. The first single from the effort, "Nevermore", will arrive on Friday, June 10.
Densely muscular, soaked in unnerving spite, with a pessimistic eye toward inner struggles and global affairs alike, "Omens" is a furious entry in the LAMB OF GOD catalog, perhaps the band's angriest album yet.
"The world is crazy and keeps changing. 'Omens' is a reaction to the state of the world," explains vocalist D. Randall Blythe. "It's a very pissed-off record." He pauses for emphasis. "It is extremely pissed off."
"Omens" is also LAMB OF GOD's most diverse affair. The band tracked with longtime collaborator Josh Wilbur (KORN, MEGADETH) live in the room together at Henson Recording Studios (formerly A&M Studios) in Los Angeles, California, a location that birthed classics from THE DOORS, PINK FLOYD, RAMONES and SOUNDGARDEN, among others.
"The inner workings of the band have never been better," explains guitarist Mark Morton. "You can hear it in 'Omens'. You can see it in our performances, and if you're around us for five minutes, you can feel it."
The "Omens" album pre-order is live now at Lamb-Of-God.com, boasting several exclusive items, including a signed colored vinyl variant, shirt, hoodie, and signed CDs with an alternate color cover. All physical CD and vinyl releases will include a free access code to watch the livestream viewing of "The Making Of Omens" documentary, which will premiere the week of album release.

Morton said: "Two decades ago, LAMB OF GOD, along with KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, were a part of a new wave of American heavy metal music. Our scene grew from a small, loosely connected network of underground shows in basements and warehouses, into a global phenomenon that helped define an entire generation of modern heavy metal. We are thrilled to announce the 'Omens' tour, which celebrates not only the perseverance and impact of that original movement, but also the creativity and originality of the bands that it influenced. Heavy metal is alive and well. The 'Omens' tour proudly showcases the depth and diversity of our scene. This is not a tour to miss."
