Japan’s BORIS To Release Heavy Rocks (2022) In August; “She Is Burning” Video StreamingThe legendary Boris celebrate a 30 year career as one of experimental music's most forward-thinking, heavy, and innovative bands with the new album Heavy Rocks (2022). Continuing their series of Heavy Rocks records, Boris once again channels the classic proto-metal sounds of the ‘70s into something all new.
Boris comments on the new album:
"The world has changed over the last two years. Everyone's thinking is simpler and pragmatic. Now, it is easier for everyone to grasp what is important to each of us.
“We leave it to the future and pass it on. The soul of rock music is constantly evolving. A soul that transcends words and meaning to reach you - instinct, intuition, and fangs.
“This is the heavy rock of Boris now.
“As we land on our 30th anniversary, Boris continues to evolve, accelerating the latest and universal.
“Boris does not lead anyone anywhere.
We just keep showing this attitude.”
Additionally, Boris has announced summer US tour dates with Philadelphia’s Nothing. The tour kicks off after Boris and Nothing’s performances at Psycho Las Vegas, and runs through late August and September. Includes a festival performance at Post Festival in Indianapolis. Tickets are on sale this Friday, May 20.

BLACKWATER DROWNING Release "Aberrant Leaves" Music VideoMelodic death metal band, Blackwater Drowning, have released a video for "Aberrant Leaves", the first single from the North Carolina-based outfit's first full-length effort, titled Sonder//Satori, out on July 8 via Blood Blast Distribution.
"This song is about corruption in places of power, and the dichotomy that lies there," said the band. "An entity that’s supposed to protect and serve you, using you for their own ends to further their own narrative. We worked with the fabulously creative Garrett Barefoot for this video, as he was also a major part of the recording process of this entire album and really understood what our mindset for this track is. We wrote the chorus in the studio with Jon Berrier, our amazing producer, hopped up on energy drinks at about 2am one night, and it’s one of our favorites on the album! We are incredibly proud of this finished product and hope it resonates with this current world climate as much as it does with us when we wrote it."
Watch the video below.
Commenting on Sonder//Satori, vocalist Morgan Riley shares: “We are so excited to finally release our debut full-length album! This is a culmination of all our collective years writing music separately and as a group, and we couldn’t be more proud. Sonder//Satori is a collection of songs about a wide range of subjects, ranging from addiction, betrayal, abuse of power, astrophysics, the corporate rat race, and personal growth. Sonder means realizing every stranger you meet has a life as vivid and fully realized as your own, and Satori is the inner experience of enlightenment, indescribable and unintelligible to reason and logic. Together, we felt it really spoke to the overall theme of wonder, growth, and great personal revelations, both good and bad. We are so thrilled to be partnering with Blood Blast for this release and can’t wait to see where we go together!”
Sonder//Satori tracklisting:
"The Fifth Element"
"Abyssal" (Feat. Brian Kingsland)
"Mortal Coil"
"Snake Juice"
"Saint"
"The Caged"
"Aberrant Leaves"
"Voyager"
"Aberrant Leaves" video:
Lineup:
Morgan Riley - Vocals

CHAD SMITH Apologizes To TAYLOR HAWKINS's Family For Participating In 'Sensationalized And Misleading' ReportRED HOT CHILI PEPPERS' Chad Smith has apologized to Taylor Hawkins's family for the comments he made about the late FOO FIGHTERS drummer to Rolling Stone magazine.
On Monday (May 16),Rolling Stone published a report which contained claims made by a number of people, including several of Hawkins's best friends, that in the months leading up to his death he felt hesitant about returning to the road after the easing of COVID-19 restrictions and wasn't sure he would be able to remain a full-time member of the FOO FIGHTERS if they continued to tour at the same pace.
In the article, Smith confirmed to Rolling Stone that it was Hawkins who lost consciousness on board a plane in Chicago last December. News reports from the time described him anonymously as "a member of FOO FIGHTERS." "He just said he was exhausted and collapsed, and they had to pump him full of IVs and stuff," Chad, told Rolling Stone. "He was dehydrated and all kinds of stuff." After the incident, Smith said Hawkins told him, "I can't do it like this anymore."
Earlier today, Smith released the following statement via social media: "Taylor was one of my best friends and I would do anything for his family. I was asking by Rolling Stone to share some memories of our time together, which I thought was going to be the loving tribute he deserved. Instead, the story they wrote was sensationalized and misleading, and had I known I never would have agreed to participate. I apologize to his family and musical friends for any pain."
The Rolling Stone report also included several quotes from PEARL JAM and SOUNDGARDEN's Matt Cameron, a close friend of Hawkins's for decades, who told the magazine that "[Taylor] had a heart-to-heart with Dave [Grohl, FOO FIGHTERS leader] and, yeah, he told me that he 'couldn't fucking do it anymore' — those were his words. So I guess they did come to some understanding, but it just seems like the touring schedule got even crazier after that," Matt said.
A couple of hours before Chad issued his statement, Matt took to his Instagram to write: "When I agreed to take part in the Rolling Stone article about Taylor, I assumed it would be a celebration of his life and work. My quotes were taken out of context and shaped into a narrative I never intended.
"Taylor was a dear friend, and a next level artist. I miss him. I have only the deepest love and respect for Taylor, Dave and the FOO FIGHTERS families.
"I am truly sorry to have taken part in this interview and I apologize that my participation may have caused harm to those for whom I have only the deepest respect and admiration."
One person who seemingly corroborated Cameron's comments to Rolling Stone about Taylor's state of mind prior to his death is Hawkins's longtime friend and former boss, singer Sass Jordan, who was quoted in the report as saying: "Honestly, I think he was just so tired. Tired of the whole game."
A colleague and friend of Hawkins's, who asked to remain anonymous, concurred, saying: "The fact that he finally spoke to Dave and really told him that he couldn't do this and that he wouldn't do it anymore, that was freeing for him. That took fucking balls. That did take a year of working up the guts to do."
Cameron told Rolling Stone that he believes Hawkins agreed to continue touring with FOO FIGHTERS at the required pace to be a team player.
"[A band like that] is a big machine [with] a lot of people on the payroll," Cameron said. "So you've got to really be cognizant of the business side of something when it's that big and that has inherent pressure, just like any business."
A rep for FOO FIGHTERS denied that Hawkins ever raised any of the issues brought up in the Rolling Stone report.
Rolling Stone says that it repeatedly asked Hawkins's family members and bandmates for interviews for the story, but Hawkins's family declined to comment.
Hawkins was found dead on March 25 at the Four Seasons Casa Medina hotel in Bogota, Colombia while FOO FIGHTERS were on tour. An official cause of death for Hawkins hasn't yet been released, but on March 26, Colombia's attorney general's office issued a preliminary toxicology report, saying that medical examiners found evidence of 10 types of substances in Hawkins's body, including opioids, benzodiazepines, marijuana and antidepressants.
Rolling Stone's full report can be found at this location.

MATT CAMERON Claims His TAYLOR HAWKINS Comments Were 'Taken Out Of Context'PEARL JAM and SOUNDGARDEN's Matt Cameron has apologized for the comments he made about Taylor Hawkins which were included in a new Rolling Stone magazine report about the late FOO FIGHTERS drummer's career, legacy, and outlook near the end of his life.

TAYLOR HAWKINS Wanted To Scale Back FOO FIGHTERS' Intense Touring Schedule Before His Death, Friends ClaimIn the months leading up to his death, FOO FIGHTERS drummer Taylor Hawkins reportedly felt hesitant about returning to the road after the easing of COVID-19 restrictions and wasn't sure he would be able to remain a full-time member of the band if they continued to tour at the same pace.
The claims were made by a number of people, including several of the drummer's best friends, who were interviewed by Rolling Stone magazine about his career, legacy, and outlook near the end of his life.

"He just said he was exhausted and collapsed, and they had to pump him full of IVs and stuff," his friend, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer Chad Smith, told Rolling Stone. NIGHTRAGE To Play Sweden Rock Festival 2022; Band Releases "Shadows Embrace Me" Lyric Video In CelebrationIt's now confirmed that Greek/Swedish melodic death metal stars, Nightrage, will play at Sweden Rock Festival 2022 on July 8, and the band want to celebrate this with a brutal new lyric video for "Shadows Embrace Me".
"Shadows Embrace Me" is featured on the new Nightrage album, Abyss Rising, available via Despotz Records. Order the album here, and watch the new clip below.
An album that is the band's vision of mankind living in its own hell - a hell it has created through the destruction of the planet. Inspired in part by Dante's Inferno, the album explores man’s continual destruction of the world we live in until the abyss opens up to consume all before it.
The abyss has risen from the depths, and hell has now turned outside in to be able to rise to earth to claim us. The album captures Nightrage in a spectacular form; incisive, brutal, uncompromising, and unforgettable. Musically the band have embraced a harder, faster, and brutal approach, still rich in melodic intent but characteristically heavy and aggressive. Mixed and mastered by Fredrik Nordstrom at Studio Fredman (Architects, In Flames, Opeth, etc.), Abyss Rising is a formidable sonic masterpiece.
Tracklisting:
"Abyss Rising"
"Swallow Me"
"Nauseating Oblivion"
"Dance Of Cerberus"
"Falsifying Life"
"Portal Of Dismay" (Interlude)
"Shadows Embrace Me"

Exclusive: REBEL PRIEST Premiere “Lesson In Love” VideoVancouver’s Rebel Priest has been bringing its eclectic brand of rock ‘n' roll to fans for years in a true unadulterated, unapologetic fashion. A little bit greasy, a little bit sassy, but 100% committed, they have released four records, with a fifth on its way this year. “Lesson In Love” is the name of the upcoming EP as well as the first single, an untraditional ballad, like a love song sung by a Tommy gun. According to the band, it’s about going through the trials and tribulations of loving something - the ups, the downs, the spirals, but without the direct subject being a person. The band explains further:
“It’s open-ended in that it is what you love or love doing and how it’s a journey that can always find a way home. There's always that one thing in your life that keeps you going, a person, a hobby, a theology. No matter what your vice is, it always comes at a price. You have to go through the blood, sweat, and tears to get what you need outta it and it doesn’t always come easy. This is your education, your lesson in love.”
When people put on the new record, Rebel Priest intends for them to forget about everything else, take a break from the grind, and get pumped! Whether you're working out, going out, or down and out, put it on and play it loud! Get into it and go wild! Their music is fluid, they find a riff and then follow it where it wants to go. They say it’s just about finding the groove and cruising the wave.
Rebel Priest is headed out on tour with Toronto's Deadwolff this summer, and spectators are in for a rock ‘n’ roll treat - guitarist/vocalist Benny Kemp is the embodiment of a denim tornado; that guy will (and has) break his legs to party on stage! Drummer/vocalist Nate Pole is a groovin’ attitudn’ mean machine behind the drums that will sometimes make a wood chipper look like a pencil sharpener on those skins. As for vocalist/bassist Jayme Black, he’s a bit of a mouthpiece and likes his bass real gritty.
The trio just wants to bring rock n roll back to street level, when it was outlaw music for the underdog, so expect a greasy, sweaty, down and dirty rock show. They are recommended for fans of Motörhead, ZZ Top, and Rose Tattoo.
BraveWords is premiering the music video for “Lesson In Love” – watch below!

SKOLD Cheats Death In New Video “Don’t Pray For Me”Throughout his professional music career, there have been many times when the establishment fought against the Swedish producer/guitarist/songwriter Tim Skold. From the premature end of his first band, Shotgun Messiah, to his stolen second solo album, which was finally commercially released for the first time last month as Dead God, Skold got the best revenge by simply staying the course and out-fighting the haters, continuously making and releasing new music. This perseverant and determined side of Skold comes into focus in the brand-new video for the leadoff track from Dead God, the sneering and audacious “Don’t Pray For Me.”
Working in collaboration once again with Industrialism Films, the same team who brought you the videos for Skold’s “Dirty Horizon” and “Small World” videos, Skold and Industrialism have crafted a music video of filmic vignettes showing the artist staring down a multitude of deaths: drug overdose, bathtub electrocution, drunken game of Russian Roulette (featuring a cameo from 3TEETH frontman Alexis Mincolla), military ordinance, and even self-mutilation via seppuku. Through it all Skold keeps coming back for more, and coming back stronger, all the while proclaiming his fierce independence and self-reliance.
And if this wasn’t enough, Skold is continuously resurrecting himself for even more “comebacks.” He’s currently on tour with industrial godfathers Front Line Assembly for their Mechanical Soul Tour 2022 and is once again teaming with Marilyn Manson on new music, and even contributed to the new Ye album Donda 2. TIM 'RIPPER' OWENS Says FAUCI 'Hasn't Told The Truth': He 'Changes His Mind Like People Change Their Underwear'Former JUDAS PRIEST singer Tim "Ripper" Owens has once again accused Dr. Anthony Fauci of not telling the truth and has blasted U.S.'s top infectious disease expert for changing his COVID-19 recommendations as frequently as "people change their underwear."
Owens's latest comments came just hours after Fauci said he would resign if Donald Trump retakes the presidency in 2024. When CNN's Jim Acosta asked Fauci during an interview on Sunday if he would want to stay on as the director of the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases in the event that voters gave Trump a second stint as president, Fauci bluntly said "no."
On Sunday evening, Owens took to his Twitter to respond to a Fox News headline about Fauci leaving the White House if Trump wins 2024 election. Tim wrote: "Well unfortunately [Fauci] hasn't told the truth so far so why would he start now. BUT this does sound like great news Plus remember he changes his mind like people change their underwear".
Fauci, President Joe Biden's chief medical advisor, has received criticism from Republican leaders throughout the coronavirus pandemic, with some of them asking him to resign over his handling of COVID-19.
Last September, Owens, who frequently "likes" tweets that amplify Republican talking points and that are derogatory to Democrats, offered his opinion on the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director while responding to a headline from conservative media outlet The Blaze about Fauci's comment that three doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were likely needed at that point in time for full protection.
Tim tweeted: "He changes what he says over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. So we find out masks don't work and vaccines don't work. So wear 5 masks and get 5 vaccines. ( just so you know I'm vaccinated and I wore a mask, oh yea and I've had Covid )".
The 54-year-old singer, who lives in Akron, Ohio, elaborated on his Fauci comments during an interview with Sofa King Cool. When the interviewer said that it's "frustrating" to see official recommendations constantly changing, Owens said: "It is frustrating. But then if you say anything about it changing every day, those people will go, 'Oh, you're anti-science 'cause you bring up that it's changing.' And it's, like, no, it just changes every day. I mean, I understand why it's changing every day: we're dealing with something that we don't know what we're dealing with."
He continued: "My girlfriend's a paramedic and my good friend's a doctor. I understand everything that goes on. But these same people that get mad at people [for pointing out the fact that recommendations are constantly changing]… If you went to [an auto mechanic] and got your car fixed, and they said, 'It's gonna be 95 dollars,' and then they called you and said, 'It's gonna be 150,' and you're, like, 'Okay.' And then you picked it up and they go, 'That's two thousand dollars you owe me.' And you're, like, 'What?' And they're, like, 'Well, we found things along the way that changed, and now it's two thousand.' Would those people be, like, 'Okay, I understand. You're a mechanic and things change'? No, they would be pissed off because it's changing.
"I think it's the way we're told," Tim explained. "We're told that this will work and then it doesn't. But instead of saying, 'This might work.' That's the issue. There was no, 'The vaccines might work.' No. When you got a vaccine originally, it was a hundred percent this was gonna clear everything up. I think it's the way it's worded [that is the problem].
"I understand things change," Owens repeated. "I got vaccinated and I wear masks when I have to, just because I wanna go back to work — I wanna tour. I got COVID last year. I had more effects from Mexican food than I did from getting COVID, but I got COVID. I believe it's there. It doesn't hurt me to wear a mask in a supermarket. But it's just things change and it's what we're told. It's crazy what's being said. So nobody knows what's going on."
Owens went on to say that "people should get vaccinated. I think especially if you're older or you're unhealthy or you have underlying conditions, you should get vaccinated. I want the world to go back to normal.
"It's funny 'cause you can still be pro-vaccine, believe in COVID, pro-mask, but if you say Fauci changes his mind, you get death threats. That's the way the world is now. 'Oh, you're anti-science.' No. I understand why he changes his mind, but the fucker changes his mind. I mean, one mask, two masks, three masks, eight… I mean, what do we get now? Ten vaccines to make it work? I get it why — we don't know what we're dealing with. Ten years from now, we're still gonna be learning what we're dealing with. Pretty soon, we're gonna have to have a flashing light coming out of our assholes to say that we've been vaccinated and [provide] blood samples to go get a Big Mac."
Tim stressed that he is not opposing local mandates. "I say we do anything we can now to fix things," he said. "But I think everybody's so confused. When the doctor tells people out of the gate masks don't work, and then, a month later, he says everybody wear a mask. I mean, that's the issues we have.
"This isn't about politics," he continued. "And that's the other thing: if you don't like Fauci, that means you're a Republican. If you wear a mask and believe in vaccines, that means you're a Democrat. I've got everybody fucking fucked up, because I wear a mask and got vaccinated and I don't like Fauci.
"Again, like I told you, I understand why he changes his mind. It's science. We don't understand it. Everybody's fine with that… I get it. It's science. I get why he changes things. But don't tell us. Don't come out and tell everybody, 'Masks don't work and you don't have to wear a mask.' Be a little more truthful — I think that's the issue. That's why everybody's confused."
In January 2020, Owens told Detroit's WRIF radio station that he is "a middle-of-the-road guy in politics. I don't really talk too much about it," he said. "My Facebook page and my Instagram and Twitter pages aren't filled with it. I don't post about it — I might like something, but I don't post it. I kind of call it common sense — I think whatever is right, I kind of think is right. But, man, when someone thinks you're one way… I'm not joking about it. This never happened in the past. Eight years ago, four years ago, ten years ago, this stuff didn't happen — I get messages wishing death upon my family if I don't believe in their political views. And it's the craziest thing I've ever seen. I've never done that in my life."
Owens weighed in on the U.S. presidential race back in 2016, saying that Trump was perhaps what America needed to move the country forward. Claiming that he wasn't a Democrat or a Republican ("I'm in the middle," he said),Owens explained that he couldn't vote for Hillary Clinton because of "the way they tax people." He went on to say that America "had eight years of really bad" under President Barack Obama and opined that "a lot of American people" were "just trying to figure out something other than what [Obama] was doing."
Back in 2012, Owens revealed in an interview that he was voting for Mitt Romney in that year's election.
Owens joined PRIEST in 1996 and recorded two studio albums with the band, 1997's "Jugulator" and 2001's "Demolition", before PRIEST reunited with Rob Halford in 2003.
Owens is currently in a new band called KK'S PRIEST with ex-JUDAS PRIEST guitarist K.K. Downing, along with guitarist A.J. Mills (HOSTILE),bassist Tony Newton (VOODOO SIX) and drummer Sean Elg (DEATHRIDERS, CAGE).
KK'S PRIEST's debut album, "Sermons Of The Sinner", was released last October via Explorer1 Music Group/EX1 Records.
