RONNIE JAMES DIO 'Always Thought' He Would Beat Stomach Cancer, Says WENDY DIORonnie James Dio's former wife and longtime manager Wendy Dio spoke to V13 about the final months of the legendary singer's life. Ronnie died of stomach cancer, also called gastric cancer, in May 2010. The disease often does not cause symptoms until its later stages. Usually, by the time stomach cancer is diagnosed, the prognosis is poor.
"We didn't think he was gona pass away; we never thought he was gonna pass away," Wendy said. "I mean, all the times he was having the treatment. In the end, we'd go every two weeks and he'd have his chemo for six hours, and we'd come back and we'd skip down the hallways saying, 'We're killing the dragon. We're here to kill the dragon.' We called the cancer the dragon.
"Three weeks before he passed away, he was accepting an award from [Revolver] Golden Gods, and we just didn't think — we always thought he was gonna make it; he always thought he was gonna make it. And it's just such a horrible, horrible disease that just takes everybody's life; it doesn't care where they come from."
Wendy previously discussed Ronnie's cancer battle in a 2018 interview with the "Red Light District Show". Speaking about her decision to start the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund, which was established after his death as a privately funded 501(c)(3) charity organization dedicated to cancer prevention, research and education, she said: "We try to tell people, especially with men — 'cause women are pretty good about getting checked. So we try to teach that early detection saves lives, and we do try to teach everyone that and say that in all of our interviews and all of our conferences and things that early detection saves lives. Please go and get tested. We're working right now with UCLA [University of California, Los Angeles], with Dr. Wong there, who's developing a saliva test. So instead of men going to get the normal test, which is why they don't like to go, if you know what I mean — they don't like the finger… This will be a very easy swab in the mouth and then sent away and it will come back and let us know whether you have either prostate cancer, colon cancer, pancreatic cancer or stomach cancer, or none of the above. So it's a very good test. That way, people can get tested and get it at a very early stage. And if it's caught early, then the chances of survival and far, far greater."
The Dio Cancer Fund has raised in excess of $2 million to date through its various annual events and direct support from the vast community of Dio fans worldwide. It is their mission to help eradicate this disease through education and via Wendy's mantra: early detection saves lives.
"With pancreatic cancer and stomach cancer, a lot of times you don't know what's wrong with you until it's too late," Wendy said. "Ronnie had a lot of indigestion [a persistent or recurrent pain or discomfort in the upper abdomen], and actually went to a specialist about seven years before he passed with indigestion, and they just tested his heart and tested all these other things. But had I known what I know now, I would have insisted he had a colonostomy and an ultrasound. But at that time, we didn't know anything about cancer, so we didn't do it. And then he continued to take a lot of [over-the-counter antacid] Tums — he ate Tums all the time because of his stomach indigestion, which is what he thought he had."
Ronnie's autobiography, titled "Rainbow In The Dark: The Autobiography", was released on July 27 via Permuted Press. It was written with longtime friend of 30 years and esteemed music writer Mick Wall, who took up the mantle after Ronnie's passing.

"Superspreader" video:
This is the second studio release from Barry Kuzay. Production on this album began in January 2020 and concluded in June 2021. Barry explains, “When world tours were needlessly made illegal by pathetic loser tyrants controlled by the CCP, I took full advantage and collaborated with some of my favorite musicians and influences on this album. I’m incredibly proud of the results, and it was a thrill to work with such highly skilled musicians.”
Barry Kuzay is a civil engineer in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin who works with steel by day and metal by night. He is the monarch of a micro-nation that has surrendered militarily to a foreign occupying power. The ceasefire agreement allows him to remain on the land with his family in exchange for paying protection money to the criminal gangs that claim dominion over that territory. He considers The Movers Of The World to be an artistic knife to the heart of those gangs of looters.

“This is GWAR” is the powerful story of the most iconic heavy metal/art collective/monster band in the universe, as told by the humans who have fought to keep it alive for over thirty years. The film will premiere at this year’s Fantastic Fest in Austin, TX.
The feature documentary includes interviews with the band members, both past and present, as well as other artists including Weird Al Yankovic, Thomas Lennnon, Alex Winter, Bam Margera, and Ethan Embry, including never before seen footage of legendary GWAR frontman Dave Brockie.
Bob Gorman, author of Let There Be GWAR (2015), and long time artist and performer for GWAR had this to say about the film; “The story that emerges shows the trials and tribulations of GWAR. The founders of this band deserve credit, and that perspective is in there, but it also follows the story of those who have lived with the band and sought to keep it alive these many years.”
Directed by Scott Barber (Orange Years: The Nickelodeon Story), with producers Tommy Avallone (Bill Murray Stories), and Josh Goldbloom (V/H/S/94). Executive Producers include Bill Parks, Zach Blair, Matthew Helderman, and Luke Taylor. The film was edited by Casey Matthews.

TOLOACHE Release New Single "Watching Close"; Music VideoToloache are a Switzerland/UK-based progressive metal band named after a plant famously used during mystical rituals by Mexican shamans known for its intense hallucinations. Inspired by such ancient spiritual wisdoms, the band took on the name to embrace the, likewise, ‘hallucinatory’ complex arrangements that progressive metal is associated with. Not only that, they connect with the name on a spiritual level too, their UK-based singer Andrina having been brought up in a Swiss forest surrounded by witchcraft, tarot and crystals. Their latest single is the deeply dark “Watching Close”, which is released across all download and streaming platforms.
Toloache are determined to push the boundaries of rock music with dizzying, hypnotic metal guitar riffs and soft vocals with an edge. The band formed in 2020, when singer Andrina Travers, previously the vocalist in the band Underskin and well known for her widely successful musical career in Switzerland and Germany, started recording new songs she had secretly been working on for some time with songwriter Dennis Russ. It was Russ who challenged her to create the most complex, yet authentic, material of her career. Andrina wholeheartedly accepted the challenge and set about recording this new material with her Italian bandmates at the renowned New Sound Studio in Switzerland, musician Tommy Vetterli (Coroner, Kreator) supporting her in bringing her musical vision, and outstanding vocal performance, to life.

The single “Watching Close” was co-written with Russ and is about the modern world and its traumatic events as served up to us by mainstream media, and viewed through our various modern TV, tablet and mobile screens. Somehow, as human beings, in consuming endless disaster via mind-numbing, repetitious, news cycles, we have become desensitized and disconnected to the true enormity of global catastrophe. As Andrina says: “We wrote ‘watching close’ about the overload of media we all consume every day, we read terrible things but somehow we are paralysed and sometimes even cold about it because we all just see it through a screen.” Given where we are with climate change and what we have been through with a global pandemic, fed to us daily via all media– we can all very much relate.

OCEANHOARSE Guitarist BEN VARON Talks Making Of ALEXI LAIHO Tribute Song "Fields Of Severed Dreams"Finland's Oceanhoarse recently released their debut studio album, entitled Dead Reckoning. They have posted a new making of video clip featuring guitarist Ben Varon explaining how the song "Fields Of Severed Dreams" became a tribute to Children Of Bodom / Bodom After Midnight frontman Alexi Laiho, and how he ended up playing one of Alexi's old guitars on the track.

With former and current members of well-known acts like Amoral, Warmen and others, Oceanhoarse delivers exactly that kind of album you would hope to get from such experienced people. Featuring 13 tracks, loaded with crushing riffs, vocal harmonies and high voltage arrangements, Dead Reckoning shows a band willing to explore things in their very own style, instead of sticking to any kind of average formula.
In support of the new album and to celebrate the upcoming release in glorious style, Oceanhoarse have unleashed a brand new video clip for the melodic and groove-laden heavy metal anthem "From Hell To Oblivion".
The band comments: “‘From Hell To Oblivion’ represents Oceanhoarse at its most melodic, and it just might feature the biggest chorus on the album. The lyrics talk about false lighthouses, the inability to see warning signs in advance and how history keeps repeating itself, usually in pretty depressing ways.”
Oceanhoarse have amassed an impressive two million plus streams on Spotify alone, and all this before their first studio album has even been released. The band's previous single "One With the Gun" was released in late February, and has already hit the 100,000 stream mark.
Dead Reckoning will be released on August 20 through Noble Demon and is now available for pre-save and pre-order here.

Drummer CARMINE APPICE Confirms New KING KOBRA Album Is In The Works With PAUL SHORTINO, JOHNNY ROD And ROWAN ROBERTSONTo coincide with the release of the new Vanilla Fudge single "Stop In The Name Of Love", originally made famous by The Supremes, drummer Carmine Appice was recently interviewed by the Australian Rock Show podcast. Asked for an update on his future plans, Appice offered the following:
"I'm working on a new King Kobra record with Paul Shortino, and we got Johnny Rod, the original bass player - and we got Rowan Robertson from Dio is gonna play on it - and I'm talking to Carlos Cavazo (from Quiet Riot) as a second guitar player, so if we get those two guys and the three of us (Appice, Shortino and Rod) it'll be a killer album."

TRAILIGHT - New Album To Include Updated Cover Of NICK CAVE AND THE BAD SEEDS Classic "The Weeping Song"Canadian prog metal Trailight mastermind Omer Cordell has checked in with the following update on his new album, the follow-up to last year's Sophia:
"Joining myself, Cory (McBain / guitars) and Steven (Parent / drums), and adding to the long list of guests on the album, including Devin Townsend, Owsin Wong, Toño Tejeda, Anna Kuchkova, Braeden Rangno, Meris Williams and Alannah Clark, I decided to resurrect a cover we did back in 2015 and didn't really give it the proper treatment that it deserved.
'The Weeping Song' by Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds will be a bonus track on this album, which will feature Dave Padden (ex-Annihilator vocalist) who is also mixing this album, and Burton C. Bell currently of Ascension Of The Watchers and formerly of the band Fear Factory.

GRINDER BLUES Feat. KING’S X Bassist / Vocalist DUG PINNICK Reveal "Who Wants A Spankin" Lyric VideoThe impeccably monikered Grinder Blues has revealed their new lyric video, "Who Wants A Spankin." The track is the second single from the band's second album, El Dos, set for international release on September 24th via Metalville Records.
The hard rock blues trio - featuring dUg Pinnick (King's X) on bass and vocals, guitarist and vocalist Jabo Bihlman, and Scot "Little" Bihlman on drums, percussion, and vocals - offers a high-energy, bone-crushing sound and from-the-gut songwriting, putting a fresh, contemporary spin on the blues tradition.

"The idea for the music was to stay away from the clichés and rock out," dUg explains. "If we felt like we were heading into any songs that seemed like standard blues lyrically or musically, we made it a point to veer in the opposite direction."
Grinder Blues’ new album is like a shot of adrenaline to the heart of the genre. Its 10 original, high-voltage songs sizzle with daredevil virtuosity and rock with unrestrained energy.
"We’re trying to push the boundaries of a genre that can be stale if you’re not careful," Jabo explains. "But we’ve got the right blend of chops, energy, and love for the blues to really breathe some fire into it."

Guitarist BRAD GILLIS Reflects On NIGHT RANGER Reunion In 1996 - "I Remember Doing 'Don't Tell Me You Love Me' After Six Years Of Not Playing It, And It Felt So Good."Night Ranger guitarist Brad Gillis guested on 80's Metal Recycle Bin and offered some insight on his history, the history of Night Ranger, how he acquired one of the very first Floyd Rose guitar bridges', and how he thinks 80s metal is still very much alive. Check out the clip below.
Gillis: "Somebody said 'Why don't you put the original band back together?' Jack (Blades / vocals, bass) had left the Damn Yankees but we had no reason to; the the Japanese (record company) came in around '95-ish and said 'If you put the original band back together we'll bring yuo to Japan, give you a record deal and a big tour.' We thought it would be a nice little re-kickstart to the band's career. We got together and rehearsed - it had been five or six years since we got together - I remember doing 'Don't Tell Me You Love Me' after six years of not playing it and it felt so good."

Night Ranger recently released their 12th studio album, ATBPO, via Frontiers Music Srl. Listen to the song "Tomorrow" below.
ATBPO stands for And The Band Played On, an ode to making music during the covid era. Its available on CD and Vinyl (several limited edition, color vinyl versions), as well as digitally across all streaming platforms.
The band began writing the album in early 2020, amid the onset of the global pandemic. After narrowing down the song selection and tightening them up to their well-known rock ‘n’ roll sound, the band hit the studio, although separately, due to the times we are in. Throughout ATBPO, we hear Night Ranger continuing their hot streak that kicked off with 2011's Somewhere In California. Ten years on, and two highly acclaimed albums later, High Road and Don't Let Up, the band's latest studio work shows them still burning with that high octane hard rock energy they are known for. Night Ranger has always had a knack for killer melodies, intricate instrumentation, and captivating lyrics; ATBPO delivers all of that and more.
"The process was strange but the outcome rocks." - Jack Blades
"This record was incredibly hard to do as we could not be in a room together with all the COVID-19 issues that were going on. But sometimes you do your best work when there’s a deadline approaching." - Kelly Keagy
“It’s been a crazy but fun task trying to write and finish this new record in a Covid situation. A few zoom video gatherings got us started. With everybody in the band having their own home studios, we were all able to elaborate and add our own textures to each song. As a Vintage Guitar Collector, I was able to add some great classic sounds to rhythm and solos using my 57 Strat and 52 Goldtop! I hope everyone enjoys the record!" - Brad Gillis
Having sold over 17 million albums worldwide, performed across more than 4000 stages, and enjoyed a radio audience that exceeds 1 billion, Night Ranger has both epitomized and transcended the arena rock sound and style well beyond that era. With multiple songs having a significant impact on popular culture, Night Ranger continues to grow their fanbase. The band is proof that powerful songs alongside incredibly talented musicians is the perfect formula for continued success.
Night Ranger is Jack Blades (bass, vocals), Kelly Keagy (drums, vocals), Brad Gillis (lead & rhythm guitars), Eric Levy (keyboards), and Keri Kelli (lead & rhythm guitars).
ATBPO is available on CD, Digital, and the following LP versions:

"It's hard to describe the feeling around our song 'Only Love Can Save Me Now'," says singer Taylor Momsen. "The song was born out of tragedy and brought to life by two of my favorite musicians of all time - Matt Cameron and Kim Thayil. Hearing them play it is simply surreal. This song represents getting through the worst time in my life, and yet, is one of my proudest achievements. It means that there is hope, and that life has to go on, and most importantly, is worth living."
Thayil says, "It was super fun to spend time in the studio with Taylor, Ben, and Matt, and to have the opportunity to contribute to this The Pretty Reckless song. 'Only Love Can Save Me Now' has elements of classic Soundgarden and the riff would probably be at home on Louder Than Love. These are great guitar parts that Ben came up with. They lay down a heavy foundation that allows the entire song to open up with Taylor's powerful and haunting vocals. Cheers, and thanks to The Pretty Reckless for inviting Matt and me to play on this track!"
Cameron shares, "Kim and I had a blast recording with Taylor and The Pretty Reckless on their new single 'Only Love Can Save Me Now,' a fantastic rock track that sounds amazing at full volume. Many thanks to the band for inviting us to play on their new album Death By Rock And Roll."
The Pretty Reckless released their fourth studio album, Death By Rock And Roll, in February 2021.

BAD TOUCH Release Rocking Cover Of EDWIN STARR's Soul Classic "Twenty-Five Miles"Stepping into the brand-new Marshall Studio with legendary producer Chris Sheldon (Foo Fighters, Gun, Feeder), Bad Touch have recorded a rocking cover of Edwin Starr’s soul classic "Twenty-Five Miles".
Bad Touch's lead singer Stevie Westwood said, "This was one of the most fun songs we have recorded, putting a rock spin on such a classic Motown track, we felt like we had a bit more freedom with where we could take it. It’s loud, it’s funky and most importantly; it’s got soul.”
Stream "Twenty-Five Miles" now at this location. Watch the official music video below.

It's a state-of-the-art recording facility located at Marshall Amplification’s global headquarters in Bletchley, Buckinghamshire built around a '70s Neve 8048, heavily modified and customised for Marshall by Neve specialist Blake Devitt.
Bad Touch vocalist Stevie Westwood described working there as “an amazing opportunity. After such an awful 18 months for the music business, to be invited to such a space was a real gift… and we thank Chris for making our tunes sound interstellar.”
Bad Touch embark on their “Better Late Than Never” UK tour in November and December 2021, previously rescheduled from April 2021 (all original tickets remain valid). Special guests on all shows except Leo’s Red Lion are Midlands rockers Piston. Tickets are now available here.
The 15-date tour includes shows in their hometown of Norwich, as well as Newcastle, Glasgow, Southampton, and London, plus many more. Bad Touch will perform songs from their current studio album Kiss The Sky, as well as songs from their vast catalogue. The flipside, “Last Of A Dying Breed” completes the one-two punch.

WAYLAND Releases "How Long" VideoMichigan's Wayland has debuted the official music video for their brand new single "How Long". This is the first time in Wayland history that a video was written, produced, and directed by vocalist / guitarist Mitch Arnold.
"How Long" was co-written with master songwriter Brandon Sammons and produced by the legendary Keith Nelson (founding member of Buckcherry).
The song was written from a conversation about the way the band spent years on the road connecting with the Wayland Warriors day after day, stage after stage. The song has now taken on a meaning of its own as we all find ourselves asking the question, "How Long". How Long until we're back together again. All the time. Without restrictions. How Long until we're playing and listening to music again live, and doing what it is we all came here to do.

"We thought about you, the Warriors, every moment during the pandemic," says the band. "And every time we thought about the beginning, and the 'why' behind why we do this, we couldn't help but remember where we all started, and that's why we are honored to feature the dancers of @Heart Global in this music video.
We have to thank our friends who have helped us on the way, videographer Harold Sellers, videographer Dezmond Delgado , desert sensei Anthony Meyers, secret agent Chris Gonzales, and everyone in our Joshua Tree Desert Family that helped make this video possible."

BONDED Feat. Former SODOM, SUICIDAL ANGELS Members Announce Sophomore Album, Into Blackness; "Into The Blackness Of A Wartime Night" Lyric Video StreamingGermany’s thrash metallers, Bonded, are pleased to announce the worldwide release of their sophomore album, Into Blackness, on November 12 via Century Media Records.
Bonded, the group by former Sodom members Bernd “Bernemann” Kost (Guitars) and Markus “Makka” Freiwald (Drums) alongside second guitarist Chris Tsitsis (ex-Suicidal Angels), bassist Marc Hauschild and vocalist Ingo Bajonczak (Assassin), have decided to stick to their guns and once again collaborated with producer Cornelius Rambadt (Sodom, Disbelief, Onkel Tom) at the Rambado Recording Studio in Essen, Germany and also had Björn Gooßes / Killustrations (Aborted, The Crown, Carnal Forge) create the album’s artwork, just like on their Rest In Violence debut album from 2020.
A first single for Into Blackness has been released and “Into The Blackness Of A Wartime Night” can be seen in a lyric clip designed by Cloud Music Typography below.

mode: 'alternating-rec-reel-3n4-a',

Bonded checked in with the following comment about the track: “We are happy and proud to present you a first song of the upcoming Bonded album Into Blackness. Entitled 'Into The Blackness Of A Wartime Night', this track contains all of the musical trademarks by Bonded at once: It’s riff-oriented, fast, with plenty of tempo changes and displaying a permanent contrast between brutality and melody. The intense lead guitar dueling and above all the memorable, powerful vocal lines make this a great representation of the new album. And this song could almost be understood as the album’s title track, as it is lyrically part of the 4-track war-themed storyline centerpiece inspired by the fictional book “The Division Of The Damned” by Richard Rhys Jones. We hope you enjoy this first foretaste of the album…and look out, as there is more coming your way soon!”
The album’s limited first-pressing CD edition will come with O-Card packaging, a sticker and two bonus tracks: "Humanity On Sale" and "Will To Survive". Into Blackness will also be available as 180g black vinyl on the LP format. Pre-order here.
Into Blackness tracklisting:
"The Arsonist"
"Watch (While The World Burns)"
"Lilith (Queen Of Blood)"
"The Holy Whore"
"Division Of The Damned"
"Into The Blackness Of A Wartime Night"
"Destroy The Things I Love"
"Final Stand"
"Ill-Minded Freak"
"Way Of The Knife"

SEBASTIAN BACH Performs SKID ROW Classics At Minnesota's ROCKTEMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL (Video)Former SKID ROW singer Sebastian Bach and his solo band performed at the Rocktember Music Festival on September 11 in Hinckley, Minnesota. Fan-filmed video footage of the concert can be seen below.
Bach took to his Twitter after the performance to write: "Hinckley Minnesota Amphitheater. I cannot even express how much you meant to us tonight. I literally dreamed of this moment for the last year-and-a-half. BachTember Rocktember thank you so much for making all of our dreams come true. One of the most amazing crowds ever".
As previously reported, Bach will return to the stage next month for a tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of SKID ROW's double-platinum, acclaimed album "Slave To The Grind".
Performing the celebrated 1991 record in its entirety along with other hits from his catalog, Bach is back to rock the masses with support from Detroit band KALEIDO. The tour will kick off September 25 in Waterloo, New York and will wrap in San Diego, California on December 17.
Bach recently commented on the upcoming tour and anniversary: "30 years ago in the year 1991 we released our second record entitled 'Slave To The Grind'. This album was a collaborative effort between the band members written in our basements and rehearsal rooms in New Jersey shortly after we got off the road for the first record. We had an incredible time coming up with the songs in New Jersey and then bringing in our producer Michael Wagener to help out before we took the whole band and crew down to Gloria Estefan's New River studios in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. We all lived there recording the record and the stories I could tell......!!
"After recording in Florida, we headed to Burbank, California to finish the album and how proud we were of the results. I remember driving down Ventura Boulevard. We had a cassette of the song 'Monkey Business' mix that we cranked over and over again in the car at about 4 in the morning heading back to our hotel. The music was crushing when we made it then and 30 years later it still stands the test of time.
"Solidifying the family vibe making this album was the choice to have my father the late David Bierk RIP (1944-2002) create and paint the album cover. Commissioned by Atlantic Records' Bob Defrin, the cover art is based on the songs themselves and inspired by Caravaggio. The artwork is a story in and of itself. In association with the artist estate, we will incorporate never-before-seen photos during the show detailing the creation of the album cover, which used actual live models playing out the scene in my Dad's studio back in 1990 - 1991.
"None of us could believe the day 'Slave To The Grind' came out and became the first heavy rock album to debut at Number One on the Billboard album chart. The band were naturally ecstatic as were the record company and all involved.... As well as my father and my family.
"I look forward to playing 'Slave To The Grind' in its entirety in the USA this fall for the 30th anniversary and for the first time offer a look behind the scenes into the creation of the album cover artwork. Looking forward to seeing you all on the road in 2021 with very special guests from Detroit Michigan, KALEIDO! See you at the show!"
Bach previously performed "Slave To The Grind" in its entirety in October 2019 at the Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, California. Earlier that fall, he completed a U.S. tour during which he celebrated the 30th anniversary of SKID ROW's self-titled debut album.

VINCE NEIL Performs MÖTLEY CRÜE Classics At Milwaukee's SUMMERFEST (Video)Fan-filmed video footage of MÖTLEY CRÜE frontman Vince Neil's September 4 performance at Summerfest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin can be seen below.
Earlier in the month, Vince revealed that he was trying out a new toning machine in an apparent effort to get in shape for MÖTLEY CRÜE's upcoming "The Stadium Tour".
The singer said he was using Emsculpt Neo, a revolutionary new treatment which supposedly builds muscle and reduces fat using both radio frequency and high-intensity electromagnetic energies.
A little over three months ago, Neil made headlines when he struggled to complete his solo concert at the Boone Iowa River Valley Festival in Boone. Based on fan-filmed video footage of the May 29 gig posted on YouTube, the 60-year-old rocker, who hadn't performed in more than a year and a half due to the COVID-19 pandemic, began losing his voice several songs into his set, which consisted exclusively of CRÜE classics and cover songs previously recorded by the band.
MÖTLEY CRÜE's "The Stadium Tour" with DEF LEPPARD, POISON and JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS was originally scheduled to take place last summer but ended up being pushed back to 2021, and then to 2022, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In December 2019, CRÜE manager Allen Kovac told Fox Business that "some of" the bandmembers had enlisted outside help to get in shape for the trek. Kovac was referring to criticism of Neil for his supposed diminished singing ability and weight gain, as well as the health status of guitarist Mick Mars, who has been dealing with a chronic form of arthritis that led him to undergo a hip replacement.
Kovac explained: "Some of them are working with a trainer, some of them are working with a nutritionist to make themselves the best they can be. The greatest insecurity for an artist is: Is anyone going to care about my music? Is anyone going to buy a ticket? We were in November [2019] when the discussions were happening, and these guys were already into regimens of how they get ready for a tour."
Speaking specifically about Neil, Kovac added: "Let's see what Vince sings like and looks like when the tour goes out."
CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx also said that Vince was "killing it" while working with "trainers" and "nutritionists" in preparation for "The Stadium Tour". 9

AGNOSTIC FRONT's ROGER MIRET Reveals His Cancer Is In RemissionEarlier this year, AGNOSTIC FRONT vocalist Roger Miret was diagnosed with cancer. A long road of tests and diagnoses led to a complex surgery and lengthy hospital stay. Even though the surgery was complicated, the results were extremely positive. The cancer was successfully removed and Roger is now in complete remission and all signs of cancer have disappeared.
With the joy of knowing that Roger is now cancer free also comes the bitter reality of months of treatment and Roger and his family are dealing with the financial backlash of a cancer diagnosis.
A GoFundMe page has been launched where fans can donate to help Roger pay medical care costs.
Says the band: "Today we are calling upon our beloved worldwide music scene, friends and family to please share this fundraiser and donate what you can, during these difficult times.
"From our family to yours, a heartfelt thank you for your support and contribution!
"We ask you to please respect Roger and his family’s privacy while they continue on their journey of recovery."
Born in Cuba, Miret fled with his family to the U.S. to escape the Castro regime. He joined AGNOSTIC FRONT in 1983, and the seminal New York harcore group released classics like "United Blood", "Victim In Pain" and "Cause For Alarm" over the next several years.
In 2017, Miret released a memoir, "My Riot: Agnostic Front, Grit, Guts, And Glory", which documented his struggles to adapt to life in the U.S. after his family fled the Castro regime. According to the Phoenix New Times, the book delved into many facets of Miret's life: the grinding poverty of his childhood; living as a teenager squatter; becoming deeply enmeshed in downtown New York’s hardcore scene; and later turning to drug-running to support his family.
In addition to fronting AGNOSTIC FRONT, Miret has also played with ROGER MIRET AND THE DISASTERS and is a member of THE ALLIGATORS.
For the past several years, Roger has resided in Scottsdale, Arizona.

KORN's JONATHAN DAVIS Thanks Fans For Their Support During His COVID-19 RecoveryKORN singer Jonathan Davis has thanked fans for their support, nearly a month after it was announced that he tested positive for COVID-19. As a result of his infection, the band postponed six dates and canceled two on its current U.S. tour.
Davis, who was reportedly fully vaccinated, took to his Instagram earlier today (Saturday, September 11) to write: "I'm not really good at this. I only know how to express my emotions is thru singing. I cannot thank all the people who prayed and wished me healing enough. In my whole career I've never felt so much love. I just want you all to know how much I love and appreciate all of you. I'm feeling better as each day passes."
Although Davis is no longer contagious with the virus, he has been taking a seat on a custom throne near the drum riser at KORN's recent shows due to lingering effects of his bout with COVID-19.
In video footage of KORN's August 27 concert in Tinley Park, Illinois — Jonathan's first gig back after revealing his positive diagnosis — he could be seen walking slowly around the stage, coughing and appearing to take a minute to catch his breath. According to TMZ, Davis also took occasional hits from an oxygen tank set up near this throne.
Earlier this week, KORN guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer also tested positive for COVID-19. He is being temporarily replaced on the road by J.R. Bareis, who is also in the band LOVE AND DEATH with KORN guitarist Brian "Head" Welch.
Bareis played his first concert of 2021 with KORN this past Thursday night (September 9) at USANA Amphitheater in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Bareis is not the only session musician who is playing with KORN right now. Bassist Roberto "Ra" Díaz (SUICIDAL TENDENCIES) is filling in for Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu on KORN's current tour after Fieldy announced in June that he would sit out the trek in order to "heal" after "falling back" on some of his "bad habits."

KORN Recruits LOVE AND DEATH's J.R. BAREIS After MUNKY Is Sidelined With COVID-19KORN has recruited J.R. Bareis to fill in for James "Munky" Shaffer while the guitarist is recovering from COVID-19.
Bareis, who is also in the band LOVE AND DEATH with KORN guitarist Brian "Head" Welch, previously stepped in for Shaffer in August 2019 when Munky was forced to miss several KORN shows due to the impending birth of his child.
Bareis played his first concert of 2021 with KORN last night (Thursday, September 9) at USANA Amphitheater in Salt Lake City, Utah. Fan-filmed video footage of the show can be seen below.
Last year, Welch told Ultimate Guitar about J.R.: "He's 25 years old. He started with me at 15 years old on the road. and I've known the kid since he was little. I'm kind of inspirational to him because I'm older, I've done so much, and he's kind of looked up to me. He's so talented that I want to bring out more from him."
Shaffer was second member of KORN in a month to test positive for COVID-19. In early August, singer Jonathan Davis came down with the disease, forcing the postponement of six dates and cancelation of two on KORN's current U.S. tour.
Last week, Davis said that he was still struggling with COVID-19 after-effects, nearly three weeks after it was announced that he tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
At some of KORN's recent shows, Davis has been taking a seat on a custom throne near the drum riser due to lingering effects of his bout with COVID-19. In video footage of KORN's August 27 concert in Tinley Park, Illinois — his first gig back after revealing his positive diagnosis — Davis could be seen walking slowly around the stage, coughing and appearing to take a minute to catch his breath. KING'S X Frontman DOUG 'DUG' PINNICK To Release Fifth Solo Album 'Joy Bomb'KING'S X frontman Doug "dUg" Pinnick will release his fifth solo album, "Joy Bomb", on October 15 via Rat Pak Records. Pinnick's first solo album of new material since 2013's "Naked" features thirteen brand new tracks.
"'Joy Bomb' is a collection of tunes I've been writing for the last two years," Doug says. "The pandemic has made me go deeper into myself and how to deal with everything and everyone in a new way. From the charging rhythms of album opener "Jon Boy" all the way through the barnstorming closing track "Making Sense Of The Bones", Doug proves that age is nothing to him and provides an album packed with the groove, swagger, and soul that he has honed and perfected over his extensive career. SUFFOCATION created the template for the brutal death metal genre in the early 1990s. Landmark albums such as "Effigy Of The Forgotten" and "Pierced From Within" also went on to inspire the birth of the tech-death and slam death metal genres. With the departure of original vocalist Frank Mullen, the band marks an end of an era with a live album recorded live during his last North American tour. Mixed and mastered by Christian Donaldson (BEYOND CREATION, CRYPTOPSY), this release plays like a "best of" and is the perfect farewell to one of the most influential singers in extreme music. The artwork for the album was created by Jon Zig.
SUFFOCATION guitarist Terrance Hobbs comments: "We couldn't be more excited to bring our fans our new live CD 'Live In North America' featuring Frank Mullen's last performances with SUFFOCATION. We couldn't think of a better way to wish Frank a fantastic farewell into retirement for all his contributions to this band as a great frontman, influence, and friend — and to also share this farewell with the fans, new and old, who have been there for us over the decades. We hope the fans will hold Frank's last recorded live tour with us close to your hearts as we do. As another chapter from SUFFOCATION closes, we are more than ready and anxious to bring you more new music and classic death metal in the upcoming months and years. So keep your eyes and ears open, stay heavy and play it loud.... see you all on the road!"
"Live In North America" track listing:
01. Thrones Of Blood
02. Effigy Of The Forgotten
03. Funeral Inception
04. Pierced From Within
05. Surgery Of Impalement
06. Dismal Dream
07. Jesus Wept
08. As Grace Descends
09. Liege Of Inveracity
10. Breeding The Spawn
11. Catatonia
12. Souls To Deny
13. Infecting The Crypts
In a 2019 interview with Heavy New York, SUFFOCATION bassist Derek Boyer stated about Mullen's departure: "Frank knew for a long time that he was going to be out. But he kind of just got it to the point where this was a good time for him to make it an official farewell run. I think '…Of The Dark Light' was an intentional last record for him. He just knew when the time was right, he was going to step down, it was just '…Of The Dark Light' was the record that was his last record."
For the last several years, SUFFOCATION has been using fill-in vocalists to accommodate Mullen's work schedule and aversion to long bouts of touring. According to Boyer, SUFFOCATION is "not done" playing shows and will continue to make albums now that the frontman has made his exit official. "Frank, we knew he's been talking about being done for a while," Boyer said. "It's one of those things you're definitely going to get another record out of the band. It's been tough jumping through hoops with 'Who's going to do this?' We have Ricky Myers from California, who's been doing a lot of the stuff for us. He's doing really well right now. You'll be seeing SUFFOCATION coming through your town. That's not going to stop. You'll see another record. We're not going to skip a beat. Frank is awesome. He's going to be missed, but the band is still a driving force."
"...Of The Dark Light", was produced by the band and tracked at Full Force Studios with longtime engineer Joe Cincotta (OBITUARY). Mixing and mastering was handled by world-renowned producer/engineer Chris "Zeuss" Harris (HATEBREED, ARSIS, SUICIDE SILENCE). Cover artwork was created by Colin Marks (ORIGIN, FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE, KATAKLYSM). 6

TRISTANIA Founder MORTEN VELAND's MORTEMIA Project Releases New Single "Decadence Deepens Within" Featuring LIV KRISTINEAfter 11 years of silence, Norwegian multi-instrumentalist, producer and artist Morten Veland finally found the time to re-activate his solo project Mortemia once more, this time with a brand new concept. The Pandemic Pandemonium Sessions is a series of singles that will be released on a monthly basis, each song featuring a well known and highly profiled singer in metal.
Veland has checked in with the following update:
"I am proud and honored to introduce my long time friend and fellow Norwegian, Liv Kristine, as my special guest for The Pandemic Pandemonium Sessions. The fourth song is entitled 'Decadence Deepens Within' and is available on all digital platforms.

Liv Kristine is truly one of the pioneers of the genre, and she certainly has paved the way and opened many doors for many bands that emerged in the late '90s and after. This song is really inspired by the '90s era, and I could not think of a more fitting singer than Liv Kristine to sing this song. The song really takes me back in time and gives me a good dose of that nineties nostalgia. Working on this project so far has been an amazing journey for me, and I feel truly privileged to have Liv Kristine onboard this project."
"Decadence Deepens Within" is available on the digital platforms found here.

FAMOUS UNDERGROUND Featuring Former SLIK TOXIK Frontman NICK WALSH Release New Single / Video "Like An Animal"Toronto-based Famous Underground, featuring former Slik Toxik frontman Nick Walsh, have released a new single "Like An Animal", taken from their new EP, In My Reflection". Check out the official video below.
Walsh acknowledges the public’s tolerance for inauthenticity has kept him singularly focused on ensuring he projects his true musical identity in every note of the five-song In My Reflection. “Fans, critics and most people can smell through bullshit. As an artist, my job is to make sure I’m comfortable creating it and presenting it,” he says.

_taboola.push({

placement: 'Mid Article Thumbnails',
target_type: 'mix'
});
While the musical relationship between Walsh and bassist Laurie-Anne Green Green dates back more than two decades, the former’s history in music is even more extensive, having fronted the Juno Award winning Canadian hard-rock band Slik Toxik. Following the group’s demise, Walsh immersed himself in a myriad of projects, running the gamut from owning a recording studio, working in film and television, and touring North America with Classic Albums Live.
Walsh and Green had worked on projects together in the past, and in 2011 decided to form Famous Underground. They released their debut album independently that same year, which was subsequently licensed for world-wide release in 2013. Leaning upon a veritable number of classic influences from the world of hard rock and heavy metal, Famous Underground’s take no prisoners approach to music reaffirms guitar-driven rock music is far from dead.
“Famous Underground is my passion project. It’s music that comes from my soul,” Walsh explains. “I am grateful that the band share my vision and end up owning it themselves - that's what I call real.”
Following the release of a digital 45 in 2017, the band, which also includes guitarist Darren Boyd and drummer Desche Sparboom, amassed 14 songs for a full-length album that was originally due out in 2020. Not surprisingly, the pandemic disrupted those plans, sending Walsh and Green back to the drawing board in some respects. After all, the dynamic vocalist has a unique perspective on the music business, having cut his musical teeth on the “old” model of record companies being the gatekeepers to success, through disruptors like Napster and file-sharing, up to the present day of music on demand.
“It’s remarkable to watch how technology shifts the industry so quickly,” says Walsh. “It’s so important to stay on top of how the landscape is evolving. We wanted to ensure we were going about the release of this new music in the right way, rather than dropping all 14 songs with no fanfare.”
In My Reflection tracklisting:
"The Dark One Of Two"
"Corrupted"
"Until The End"
"Ultra Mega"
"Like An Animal"
"The Dark One Of Two"
One of the most notable facets that time has brought to Famous Underground is a sense of maturity and life experience. Although those facets of life might have been missing during his tenure in Slik Toxik - through no one’s fault - Walsh embraces the opportunity to have gained valuable insights and observations over the last 30 years. It has given him a world view that could not be artificially manifested. There is a polished, intense rawness to the songs featured on In My Reflection that is both similar and dissimilar to anything Walsh has done in the past. However, he might not have arrived at this critical junction in his career without the benefit of the experiences he’s lived through.
“Back in the early days of Slik Toxik, we were singing about reaching for the brass ring, women and partying; all pretty typical stuff for guys in their late teens and early 20s,” Walsh says. “I couldn’t get away with writing about that shit now. I’m more interested in writing about the world around me and the human condition; the struggles within; duality; and the world around us. I’m a big believer in the whole yin/yang thing and how important it is to find balance in the world.”
Famous Underground is:
Nick Walsh - Lead Vocals, Guitars, Keyboards, Programming
Laurie-Anne Green - Bass Guitar
Darren Boyd - Lead Guitar
Desche Sparboom – Drums
Touring Musicians:
Michael Wolfgang Verbeke – Guitar
Ange M – Guitar

VOKONIS Release New Single “Null & Void”Swedish prog-metal trio Vokonis have released their new track, “Null & Void”, a stand-alone single, and a continuation of the band’s fourth studio album Odyssey. Dynamic and experimental, the single further explores the depths of Vokonis’ sound. The single features Per Wiberg (Spiritual Beggars, Opeth) on organ.
Simon Ohlsson (vocals and guitar) comments: "‘Null & Void’ is a track we, unfortunately, had to leave out from 'Odyssey' due to the constraints of the LP format. When we had to select which tracks made it onto the album we all agreed that it's one of our favorite songs from the album sessions. We liked it so much we decided to make it a stand-alone release to continue the lore of Odyssey. It continues with storytelling and the experimentation with dynamics. The ending of the song is one of our favorite moments where Per Wiberg really let loose with the organs. It's going to be a real staple in our live-set for years to come."

ENTERPRISE EARTH To Release The Chosen Full-Length In JanuaryTechnical death metal behemoths, Enterprise Earth, will release their anticipated new full-length, The Chosen, January 14, 2022 via Entertainment One, today unveiling the record’s artwork, track listing, and first single.
Enterprise Earth reemerges in 2022 with their latest full-length, The Chosen, a masterpiece of monstrous brutality and enveloping ambiance. It is the band’s heaviest yet most diverse effort, with shifting attitude, vibe, and desperate aggression stitched throughout its songs. Brooding, thick with atmosphere, groove-driven, old-school death metal with modern flourishes, the music of Enterprise Earth switches gears from earth-shattering breakdowns to sickeningly slow sludge to blast furnace pummelling with seemingly effortless ease. Composition after composition is ominous, ambitious, lurching, and inviting, including Where Dreams Are Broken, The Failsafe Fallacy, This Hell, My Home, Sleep Is For The Dead, Temptress, and He Exists.
Vocalist, Dan Watson, is on a mission of “me against the world,” taking on personal struggle, isolation, self-doubt, and alienation like a man possessed, determined to persevere at all costs. It’s a fight for personal survival, rendered with painstaking passion by a gargantuan unmistakable voice. The Chosen was engineered, produced, mixed, and mastered by guitarist Gabe Mangold (now the group’s sole guitarist) save for the drums. Drummer Brandon Zackey tracked his relentlessly jaw-dropping and diverse drum performance with producer Jason Suecof (August Burns Red, Demon Hunter, Death Angel). Bassist Rob Saireh rounds out the Enterprise Earth lineup, bringing equally formidable power, dexterity, and groove.

Where Dreams Are Broken is the lead single off The Chosen. Here the band picks up right where they left off with Luciferous and 2020’s Foundation Of Bones EP writing aggressive and dynamic deathcore while incorporating unique progressive elements and stellar technicality. The track’s grinding groove and hook-laden chorus are perfect examples of their compositional growth while retaining their brutal staple sound.
Offers the band, “We’re tremendously excited to finally release ‘Where Dreams Are Broken’ as the first single from our coming album The Chosen. We felt this would be the right song to start off with as it features a few new elements that we’ve added to our songwriting in addition to bringing everything you would normally expect from us at 110%. We’ve put our heart and soul into this record and we hope you enjoy it. There is much, much more to come.”
The Chosen will be released on CD, LP, and digitally. Find preordering options here.
