Hear STEVE LUKATHER's New Single 'Serpent Soul' From 'I Found The Sun Again' Album

Hear STEVE LUKATHER's New Single 'Serpent Soul' From 'I Found The Sun Again' Album

Steve Lukather and The Players Club / Mascot Label Group present "Serpent Soul", the second instant-gratification track featured on Luke's upcoming new studio album titled "I Found The Sun Again". The accompanying video presents the still photographs and video content captured in the recording studio by Mini Carlsson when the album was tracked.

In reference to "Serpent Soul", Luke simply offers: "You can fucking figure out who the song is about." Luke and TOTO singer Joseph Williams will both release solo albums simultaneously on February 26, 2021. Both artists made significant contributions to the other's album.

Earlier this year, the label presented "Run To Me" from "I Found The Sun Again". The LP was co-produced by Ken Freeman, who also both engineered and mixed the new collection of repertoire. The players feature many dignitaries that have been in Luke's life for decades. Amongst those are drummer Gregg Bissonette, keyboardist Jeff Babko, and bassists Jorgen Carlsson and John Pierce. Lifelong friend and TOTO bandmate David Paich performs piano and organ across the album, while Joseph Williams sang on multiple tracks alongside writing string and horn arrangements and tracking keys on the aforementioned "Run To Me". Both Paich and Williams co-wrote that specific composition, while friend and band leader of the ALL-STARRS, Ringo Starr makes a special appearance on the recording and in the video. Other co-writers include Stan Lynch, Jeff Babko, and, of course, Joseph Williams.

Luke shares: "Never had so much fun recording in my life. Painless, fun and easy — and it just flowed." The repertoire features five new original compositions, and three covers personally selected by Luke. Those are TRAFFIC's "Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys", Joe Walsh's "Welcome To The Club" and Robin Trower's "Bridge Of Sighs". Lukather offers in the liner notes: "ALL these tracks were cut LIVE — no clix — no fix — No rehearsal — one run-thru — and record and the whole record was take 2. I did double a few guitar parts and 'produced up' a few tunes that are obvious but in the same time frame. I recorded the lead vocal right after we got the take same day. One song a day. Joe took it home and did some BG vocals but that's it.

"I wanted to make as honest a record as I could in 2020 with 1970s inspiration, and recording values, and techniques with a modern sound. Ken did that!"

A portion of the proceeds from this album will be directed to The Ed Asner Family Center for Autism.

Over the course of five decades, Lukather has placed an indelible stamp on pop culture. Alongside his tenure as the only member of TOTO to never take a hiatus from the band, he has performed on thousands of albums as a session musician. Amongst these musical contributions are some of the most successful, influential and enduring records of all time, including Michael Jackson's "Thriller". Additionally, he released a memoir titled "The Gospel According To Luke", which was a global best-seller. He continues to be TOTO's band leader, a member of Ringo's ALL-STARR BAND, and a solo artist performing with multiple ensembles which include NERVE BUNDLE.

TOTO has enjoyed a celebrated resurgence over the last several years tied to the band's 40th anniversary, wherein over a thirty month period they performed for millions of fans across North America, Europe, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia. The band's repertoire has been streamed over a billion times, while album sales exceed 40 million copies.

Ex-QUIET RIOT Singer JAMES DURBIN Releases 'Kings Before You' Video Feat. CHRIS JERICHO, PHIL DEMMEL

Ex-QUIET RIOT Singer JAMES DURBIN Releases 'Kings Before You' Video Feat. CHRIS JERICHO, PHIL DEMMEL

Hailing from the shores of Santa Cruz, Calirnia, modern heavy metal revivalist James Durbin is on the verge of releasing his boldest, heaviest album to date with the announcement of the debut album from DURBIN, "The Beast Awakens". Coming February 12, 2021 via Frontiers Music Srl, fans can get their first taste of the album with the release of the official music video for the single "Kings Before You" featuring Chris Jericho (FOZZY) and Phil Demmel (ex-MACHINE HEAD, VIO-LENCE).

Durbin is finally releasing the album he has always wanted to over the course of his decade long recording career. Combining his love of all things DIO, IRON MAIDEN and JUDAS PRIEST, Durbin set out to craft his own signature strain of fantasy inspired power metal for his debut DURBIN album, "The Beast Awakens".

"I've found a home for my creativity with Frontiers. They really share my vision for the type of metal I wish to create and we're all excited to see where it will lead," says Durbin.

"Kings Before You", the first single released from Durbin's forthcoming album, features Jericho and Demmel. For each of the solo sections on the remainder of the album tracks, Durbin called upon his own axe-wielding brethren to help out. Jon Yadon Jr., Marc Putnam, Dylan Rose and Nick Gallant all contributed guitar solos for the album. Due to the situation with COVID-19, the album was recorded largely remotely, with only Durbin himself, alongside his producer Ellison, occupying the recording studio.

Durbin says: "The fact that the album sounds the way it does, with the way it was recorded, is a testament to the passion of everyone involved. I am very grateful for all the love and care that was given to my songs and I can't wait to unleash my metal upon the world."

All the songs included on "The Beast Awakens" were written solely by Durbin himself.

"2020 has been such a strange year for all of us," he says. "Coincidentally, our shelter in place order happened just as I had begun writing for the album. It really forced me to write by myself and not rely on others to write the riffs for me. And then to write the lyrics and melodies too."

Once the songs were written and demoed by Durbin, he brought in the rhythm section of virtuoso drummer Mike Vanderhule (Y&T) and master bassist Barry Sparks (TED NUGENT, SCORPIONS, DOKKEN, B'Z). With Durbin handling the album's rhythm guitars, his core lineup was complete.

Durbin is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist. Many associate his name with his appearance on Season 10 of "American Idol", where he was unabashedly flying the flag for heavy metal. In fact, on the finale, he appeared with undisputed metal gods JUDAS PRIEST for rousing renditions of "Livin' After Midnight" and "Breaking The Law". James has also worked and performed alongside many incredible musicians, including Stevie Wonder, Don Was, Zakk Wylde, Sheryl Crow, Tom Jones, Mick Mars of MÖTLEY CRÜE, Bob Babbitt of THE FUNK BROTHERS and STEEL PANTHER, just to name a few.

Durbin's signature vocal prowess and powerful stage presence have earned him stamps of approval and praise from rock and metal royalty like Steven Tyler, Sammy Hagar, Rob Halford and more. He has four full-length albums to his name, in addition to lending his voice to a handful of various albums.

Durbin recorded two studio albums with QUIET RIOT — 2017's "Road Rage" and 2019's "Hollywood Cowboys" — during his three-year stint with the group.

In September 2019, QUIET RIOT parted ways with Durbin and replaced him with Jizzy Pearl.

PHASE REVERSE Present Cinematic 4K Video For "Genocide” Single

PHASE REVERSE Present Cinematic 4K Video For "Genocide” Single

Phase Reverse present their official cinematic 4K video for the single "Genocide”. The track is taken from the band’s upcoming, fourth full-length album, Phase IV Genocide, that will be out on December 11 via ROAR - Rock Of Angels Records.

Video artist Haris Kountouris comments: "I've always had in my mind the creation of a 'post-apocalyptic' video. I had the chance with Phase Reverse's song 'Genocide'. Inspired by the lyrics and by the current situation of the planet, I tried creating a video that represents a, not far-fetched reality given the world's current situation. We are like a 'cauldron' boiling, ready to explode with catastrophic results. I also wanted to show how far we are from each other as a civilization, 'asphyxiating' in these rough times... Genocide, a word that have been determining us as a species."

Phase Reverse comment: "The acoustic guitar with the blues pentatonic arpeggio represents our loneliness. As the other instruments enter the scene, they develop the harmony around the guitar, leading to the revelation of a great truth. We are experiencing a genocide almost every moment. The death rate from natural causes is the lowest of all causes. Guess what are the causes of death of all living organisms every day..."

Phase IV Genocide artwork and tracklisting:

"The Return"
"Destruction On Demand"
"Genocide"
"Copy 10-4"
"Know Thy Shit"
"Die And Let Live"
"Delete"
"Eat What You’re Served"
"Sound Of My Stone"
"Martyr Of The Phase"

Phase IV Genocide will be released through ROAR- Rock Of Angels Records, physically and digitally worldwide on December 11, 2020. Available on Digipak CD, Transparent Neon Orange Vinyl (Ltd 300 copies) and Digital streaming / download format.

Belgium's CELLAR TWINS To Re-Release Duality Album

Belgium's CELLAR TWINS To Re-Release Duality Album

Belgian melodic rockers Cellar Twins initially released their compelling full length, Duality, independently, with support from their fans via a crowdfunding campaign. Garnering rave reviews and a strong following, the record caught the attention of Rockshots Records for a re-release this coming January 29, 2021.

Rockshots Records comments on the signing: "When the band came to our attention, we were stunned by how much talent these guys (and girl) have, and we had no doubts about signing them. We think that everyone out there should listen to this great album, and we'll be working hard to make this happen. Much more is coming in the near future!"

Duality is a combination of ten infectious hook-laden tracks that blends raging modern instrumentals with powerful yet clear vocals, that can be enjoyed by laidback rockers to full-on metalheads.

DÉLUGE Release "Gloire Au Silence" Slay At Home Performance Video

DÉLUGE Release "Gloire Au Silence" Slay At Home Performance Video

France's Déluge performed the new song, "Gloire Au Silence", for the November edition of Metal Injection's virtual Slay At Home fest. Watch the performance below:

Déluge recently released their sophomore album, Ægo Templo, via Metal Blade Records. A full album audio stream can be found below. Ægo Templo can be ordered in various formats here.

France has long been a fertile breeding ground for black metal, and one of its best kept secrets is Déluge, who have been kicking up a blend of that genre and post-hardcore since 2014. Dropping their debut full-length Æther in 2015, in 2020 they return with sophomore effort Ægo Templo, a more accessible record that pushes their sound in ever more imaginative directions. "I wanted to go further into something more 'easy to listen to', but I really did not want to lose what we had, that melancholia and the essence of our music," states founding guitarist François-Thibaut Hordé. "It was a very interesting - and exhausting - challenge, and to me we have succeeded. We are really proud of this new record."

Produced by François-Thibaut with assistance from engineers Thibault Chaumont/Deviant Lab studio (Igorrr, Carpenter Brut, Birds in Row) - who also mixed and mastered the album - and Amaury Sauvé / The Apiary studio who recorded the drums, Ægo Templo marks a bold step forward from their earlier recorded output. Featuring clean vocals on almost every track, keyboards and additional instruments on several songs, plus soprano saxophone on "Opprobre", this new offering separates Déluge from their contemporaries, all the while maintaining their identity.

The band also turned to Valnoir from Metastazis Studio in Paris to once again design their artwork, and they asked several artists to guest on the record: Tetsuya Fukagawa of Japanese Screamo legends Envy adds vocals to "Gloire Au Silence"; Matthieu Metzger provides saxophone on "Opprobre"; and Hélène Muesser contributes vocals on "Abysses", "Ægo Templo" and "Digue" - all helping to add further depths to the music.

Tracklisting:

"Soufre"
"Opprobre"
"Abysses"
"Fratres"
"Gloire Au Silence"
"Ægo Templo"
"Baïne"
"Digue"
"Béryl"
"Vers"

Video Premiere: BREAKING BENJAMIN's 'Torn In Two'

Video Premiere: BREAKING BENJAMIN's 'Torn In Two'

"Torn In Two", the new video from BREAKING BENJAMIN, can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's sixth studio album, "Ember", which is being released today (Friday, April 13) via Hollywood Records.

The "Torn In Two" clip is the second chapter in a trilogy chronicling the living hell a father goes through when his daughter is murdered and what he will endure to save her soul. The cinematic and intense imagery pulls inspiration from the epic poem "Dante's Inferno" and, for diehard fans, hints of past BREAKING BENJAMIN videos.

Additionally, BREAKING BENJAMIN has partnered with Prevent Child Abuse America and is donating $0.25 from each ticket sold to its summer co-headline tour with FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH to the organization. As April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, founder/frontman Ben Burnley had this to say about his band's choice in partnering with this organization: "I have always had a soft spot for children, especially being a father myself. We do a lot of work with St. Jude Children's Hospital and love helping there where we can.

"Since April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, we wanted to do something to bring awareness to that as well as encourage others to do their part in helping the innocent voices of the future.

"We're pleased to be donating .25 cents of each ticket on our summer tour to the country's biggest foundation for child abuse awareness, Prevent Child Abuse America, so they may continue their journey to put an end to it."

Produced by BREAKING BENJAMIN, "Ember" is the follow-up to the band's 2015 release "Dark Before Dawn", which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard 200 chart and spun off three No. 1 rock radio tracks, "Failure" (2015's most played Active Rock track), "Angels Fall" and "Never Again". The first single from "Ember", "Red Cold River", was released on January 5 and the accompanying video has more than seven million views.

Speaking about the disc, Burnley noted: "People have always really liked the heavier side of the band. I think that's what they sort of gravitate towards. But we also make sure to explore our melodic and softer side too." On "Ember", he explained, "we just tried to make it more extreme — the softer side on this album is really soft, and the heavy side is really heavy. We decided to give everybody what they want to the furthest degree."

TEMPERANCE Releases Special Acoustic Version Of "Start Another Round" (Video); New EP Due In February

TEMPERANCE Releases Special Acoustic Version Of "Start Another Round" (Video); New EP Due In February

Maestros of modern melodic/symphonic metal, Temperance, are back one year after the release of their vibrant album, Viridian, with an acoustic gift to their fans.

After many years of band history and tours with genre giants like Nightwish, Luca Turilli's Rhapsody, and Tarja, Temperance will release their acoustic EP, Melodies Of Green And Blue, on February 19 - including two brand new songs, "Evelyn" and "Paint The World". On top, Temperance presents six songs off Viridian in a new acoustic style, showing the versatile facets of the symphonic metal band.

Today, the band gives the fans a first taste of what’s to come on Melodies Of Green And Blue by releasing an acoustic rendition of their hit single, "Start Another Round".

Just as this acoustic version of “Start Another Round” kicks off, Temperance makes their unparalleled energy undeniably apparent. With a chorus that makes you want to sing along at the top of your lungs, “Start Another Round” proves once again that Temperance can deliver powerful musical compositions, even within an acoustic setting.

Watch the video for "Start Another Round" (Acoustic) below.

Singer Alessia Scolletti about “Start Another Round”: "Spending time together has never been so difficult as much as this year, that’s why shooting this video has been funnier than ever and you’ll notice it! ‘Start Another Round’ has now become an anthem: our hope for better days to come. A song that carries such a strong message deserved a new alternative version: five people surrounded by a warm atmosphere that reminds you of ‘home’ singing and playing about finding your inner strength to keep going on and succeed, no matter what life puts you through... Are you ready to start another round with us?”

Singer Michele Guaitoli comments on the Melodies Of Green And Blue EP: "We’ve been talking about recording some acoustic versions of our tracks for a long time, as we all love the intimate and emotional feeling that this particular style can offer to any tracks. If you think of it, this is how most of our songs are composed: it’s Marco on his guitar or me on the piano. Everything for us begins in acoustic before going metal. This EP is a little dream come true, as we can finally show the heart of our music in its purest version."

Temperance will host a live stream on Napalm Records’ official Instagram channel on December 18, answering questions from fans and talking about Melodies Of Green And Blue, as well as playing songs off the EP live - make sure to tune in!

JEFF YOUNG - Former MEGADETH Guitarist Releases New Single And Video "Fuoco" (Libra Sonatine)

JEFF YOUNG - Former MEGADETH Guitarist Releases New Single And Video "Fuoco" (Libra Sonatine)

Not since the Mason Williams sixties radio gem, "Classical Gas", has a popular guitarist endeavoured to tackle such an adventurous piece of solo acoustic guitar music as the instrumental release, "Fuoco" (Libra Sonatine) - the newest single & music video by Jeff Young.

Young was the lead guitarist for Grammy winning hard rock outfit Megadeth in the eighties. A decade later, he co-wrote, produced & played on a number one world music crossover hit, "Chameleon" (Verve/PolyGram) for Brazilian phenom, Badi Assad - younger sister of renowned guitar duo, Sergio & Odair Assad.

Over the past few years, a series of singles, bonus tracks & rehearsal renditions from his first ever, all instrumental album Revolutions have found indie release via the artist's YouTube channel, Bandcamp, iTunes & all the usual digital music outlets.

In 2020, during this precarious time for the planet and anyone pursuing the creative arts, Jeff has relentlessly managed to record and release two original singles, "In the Flesh" and "Slow Burn" - both tracks featuring some wonderful players including: Andrea Whitt (Shania Twain), Ric Fierrabracci (Chick Corea, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Shakira),James LoMenzo (John Fogerty, Zakk Wylde, Slash), Jeff Bowders (Paul Gilbert, Joe Satriani) & Jeff Tortora (Blue Man Group Las Vegas).

Young's latest offering is perhaps his most daring yet. "Fuoco" (Libra Sonatine) is the third movement of a solo work by French guitarist/composer, Roland Dyens. "I first heard this piece back in the late nineties and was blown away, much like the first time I heard Eddie Van Halen's "Eruption," Jeff remembers.

"The main difference and added difficulty being, "Fuoco" is performed on a nylon string, unamplified guitar - you're naked there with no effects, nothing to boost you or hide behind. When I heard the maestro's original recording, it had everything! There are elements of classical, flamenco, jazz, rock, blues, even a couple country licks thrown in there - just a dazzling piece of music that took a long time to decipher and bring to fruition."

A surprising undercurrent to this song's story is that just two months ago, Young was uncertain if he would ever play guitar again? Upon leaving for his daily cycling regimen and while navigating to pedal through a crosswalk, Young was struck by a car & a driver distracted by his cell phone. "The first thing I did after filing the police report was to rush home and pick up my guitar... both my arms and hands were hurting badly and at that point, I couldn't make a simple E chord in open position. I was in shock from the accident and pretty freaked out that I might never be able to play guitar again."

"I deliberately chose 'Fuoco' (Libra Sonatine) as the piece I would use as my rehab because this song is so death defying - every phrase is like performing a magic trick. I knew, if I worked through the score measure by measure... all the various hand contortions would put my hands to the test. If I could perform this song well then, I would have conquered my injuries. I've been playing music since first grade and I couldn't imagine doing anything else."

Curious parties can see and hear the results of Jeff's determination as the single premiers today on his Bandcamp page. Watch the video below:

Finnish dark metal band Kaamos Warriors have released their third studio album, Kirous, via Inverse Records. A new music video, for the song "Askeleet", is available below.

Guitarist Jani Moilanen comments: "Kirous is our third album representing the growing atmosphere of sounds and versatility of the band while maintaining the essence of our unique style. Album starts with the opening track 'Askeleet' introducing the atmosphere of the record. It is followed by the previously released 'Kuilu' and 'Tuonentuoja'. The fourth track 'Tuli' is one of the fastest tracks lifting up the tempo after the slow and atmospheric 'Tuonentuoja'. The fifth song carries the name of the album and gives a first taste of great sounds of strings in the middle of the darkness. It is followed by the seriously fast opening riff of the 'Totuus', which includes so far the most savage and brutal vocals of the band. Seventh track 'Usva' captures the, beautiful combination of brutal and atmospheric riffs. The album ends with the polished diamond of the album and the whole band, 'Elävän Tulen Liekki'. Lyrically it is built with the albums previous lyrics and with changing choruses."

Post Hill Press has set December 15 as the release date for Son Of A Milkman: My Crazy Life With Tesla. The date was pushed back after an initial release date of December 1st. The 304-page hardcover book sees Tesla bass player Brian Wheat lift the lid on living the rock ’n’ roll life while struggling with anxiety, depression, and other issues seldom discussed by musicians.

Brian Wheat is far from your typical rock star. As bassist for the multi-platinum band, Tesla, he’s enjoyed the spoils of success and lived the sex, drugs, and rock ’n’ roll lifestyle to the hilt. But it came at a cost, one that took years to repair.

In this deeply honest and utterly revealing memoir, Wheat sheds light on the many challenges he faces, including bulimia, weight issues, and the crippling anxiety and depression caused by his conditions. Just like the songs his legendary band made, this is no-nonsense, blue-collar storytelling at its best. While revealing the vulnerable human behind the bass guitar, this autobiography also offers tremendous stories of life on the road, and collaborations and encounters with legendary figures like his pals in Def Leppard, David Lee Roth, Alice Cooper, and Paul McCartney. Son Of A Milkman will entertain, surprise, and inspire longtime fans of this enduring band.

Son Of A Milkman features a foreword by Def Leppard vocalist Joe Elliott, and was co-written with award-winning journalist and author Chris Epting, whose titles include Adrenalized (co-written with Def Leppard’s Phil Collen) and Change Of Seasons (co-written with John Oates).

TETRARCH Is On The Move Into 2021; SiriusXM Next Wave Virtual Concert Series Performance Announced; Sophomore Album, Unstable, Coming Soon

TETRARCH Is On The Move Into 2021; SiriusXM Next Wave Virtual Concert Series Performance Announced; Sophomore Album, Unstable, Coming Soon

This year, the music industry experienced arguably its toughest year yet, battling many setbacks and standstills. But, tenacious and hardworking, Tetrarch refuses to waver - remaining on the move upward into 2021 with colossal achievements in tow.

Tetrarch closes out 2020 with a promising triumph - reaching #27 on the Mediabase Active Rock charts with their hit single “I’m Not Right”. Just two months ago, the Los Angeles-based four-piece reached the Top 40 and have remained a force to be reckoned with since, surpassing countless noteworthy contemporaries as they climb.

The steadfast trajectory of “I’m Not Right” at radio matches its impressive streaming numbers and the official music video’s YouTube views - with both boasting over 1.5 million streams and views individually and respectively. The track also held fast on SiriusXM Liquid Metal’s “Devil’s Dozen” for a staggering three months! Likewise, SiriusXM’s rock channel, Octane, has been a huge supporter of the band, recently surpassing the 500 spin mark.

More news on the SiriusXM front - just announced, Tetrarch will have a special performance showcased as part of the SiriusXM Next Wave Virtual Concert Series. The Liquid Metal Hard Attack Virtual Concert will feature Tetrarch’s performance, as well as performances from other artists, and debuts on December 14 at 6 PM, ET on Liquid Metal. For a full schedule and re-broadcast dates, click here.

In addition to these successes, Tetrarch lead guitarist Diamond Rowe and frontman/guitarist Josh Fore have both been nominated in Music Radar’s “Best Metal Guitarist of 2020” accolade. The deft duo is nominated alongside guitar greats Mark Morton, Willie Adler, Matt Heafy, Robb Flynn and many more.

Lead guitarist Diamond Rowe says: “We are thoroughly impressed with the year that we have had in the Tetrarch camp. 2020 has not been the best year for artists, but we have always been a band that tries to go out and make our own opportunities when circumstances may not permit and that’s just what we did with this year. I am extremely happy with what we achieved and it’s only a foreshadowing of what’s to come. We have so much in store for 2021 and we cannot wait to unleash this monster of a new album on the world.”

Experience Tetrarch via the official music video for “I’m Not Right”:

Tetrarch’s upcoming album, Unstable, is coming soon. The album was recorded earlier this year with producer Dave Otero (Cattle Decapitation, Allegeon, Khemmis) and is due for release via Napalm Records, whom the band signed with in 2020.

DAMON JOHNSON & THE GET READY Confirm January Release Date For Battle Lessons Album

DAMON JOHNSON & THE GET READY Confirm January Release Date For Battle Lessons Album

Internationally renowned guitar slinger, vocalist, songwriter, Damon Johnson announces the release of his new album, Battle Lessons, due January 22 via Double Dragon Records. The collection was made possible with the assistance of  an Indiegogo pre-order helping to support the recording of Johnson and his new trio, The Get Ready (Jarred Pope on drums, Robbie Harrington on bass).

The forthcoming Battle Lessons was recorded in Damon’s adopted hometown of Nashville, produced and mixed by multi-platinum producer/mixer, Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Alice In Chains, Evanescence, Rush, Stone Sour). The title track and debut single from the project, “Battle Lessons”, was released in late September, reaching #13 on the Classic Rock Chart. Stream the single here.

Rock fans know Johnson’s name from his years of scorching stages as lead guitarist in the Alice Cooper band, and later with Thin Lizzy and the Lizzy-offshoot Black Star Riders in addition to fronting the potent ‘90s Southern rockers Brother Cane. Johnson’s songs have been recorded and sung by stars like Stevie Nicks and Steven Tyler.

With Battle Lessons, Johnson returns to his original hard-rock sound, feeding that fire he first discovered as a teenager playing Van Halen and AC/DC covers while in garage bands.  Featuring nine newly written songs, the tracks are just as much about clever lyrics and sticky melodies as eyelash-searing guitars. “These are as good of songs as I’ve been a part of creating, ever in my whole career,” Johnson says. And that’s saying something - as singer/guitarist, and frontman of Brother Cane, the Birmingham, Alabama rock band who notched a string of ’90s rock hits, including “Got No Shame,” “I Lie In The Bed I Make” and chart-topper “And Fools Shine On.”

Battle Lessons is anchored by a searing title track. The song “Battle Lessons” casts Johnson’s gutsy vocals and razor riffs over presto grooves by The Get Ready drummer Jarred Pope (Tom Keifer) and bassist Robbie Harrington (Steve Vai.) Expectedly, there’s a supersonic guitar solo ripping through the cut. Johnson elite six-strings supercharge the entire Battle Lessons album. But the guitars always serve the songs and never just for flash.

It all started for Johnson when he became an instant fan of Thin Lizzy attending a concert back in 1979 in his home state of Alabama. At 15 years old, he had gone to the concert to see Ted Nugent, he didn’t even know who the opener was. Instantly a fan, Johnson bought the entire catalog and learned every song he could. Fast forward years later to 2011, while on tour as Alice Cooper's guitarist, Johnson received a call from Thin Lizzy founding guitarist Scott Gorham, inviting him to replace their temporary guitarist on their current tour. A dream job, and with Cooper’s blessing, Johnson leapt at the chance. He continues to tour with Gorham and Thin Lizzy as well as release his own solo albums.

In 2019 Johnson released Memoirs of an Uprising, a solo project that is both fierce and diverse. The first single, “Shivering Shivering” became an instant Top 10 Rock track. Immediately following that albums release Johnson spent the remainder of the 2019 on a series of dates crossing North America including several shows with The Winery Dogs (a supergroup of rockers featuring Richie Kotzen, Mike Portnoy and Billy Sheehan), a run of shows supporting Clutch, and the U.S. leg of the UFO tour.

ADAMANTIS Signs With Cruz Del Sur Music; Re-Release Of Far Flung Realm Debut Coming In 2021

ADAMANTIS Signs With Cruz Del Sur Music; Re-Release Of Far Flung Realm Debut Coming In 2021

Cruz Del Sur Music announces the signing of Massachusetts-based power metallers, Adamantis. The label will re-release the band’s Far Flung Realm debut on a limited edition CD and Vinyl (Gatefold LP + 7’’) in March 2021.

“We are eternally grateful to Anderson Tiago from [YouTube channel] NWOTHM Full Albums,” says the band. “He helped us first with finding our audience, and then  later on by reaching out to Cruz Del Sur on our behalf. Anderson is a fantastic person to work with and one is very respected in the scene. We can’t be happier about our continued collaboration with him.”

Adamantis formed in 2016 when drummer Evgeny Gromovoy and guitarist Javier Estrada moved to Boston for work where they met guitarist Jeff Taft and former singer Ashley Caval via an internet post calling for musicians sharing similar influences to start a band. The band played across New England and culminated their run with the release of Thundermark EP. Soon after the release, Ashley and original bassist Liz Cleary left and the trio continued working on new material, eventually adding bassist Cody Pelchat and vocalist Jeff Stark to complete the lineup.

The resultant Far Flung Realm full-length immediately earned high marks for its take on 1990s era European power metal. The members of Adamantis cite the likes of Gamma Ray, Running Wild, Blind Guardian and early Nocturnal Rites as key influences as well as early Manowar and Viking-era Bathory. The key, however, to the band’s sound is their democratic writing process - all members of Adamantis contributed across the 10 songs that would comprise the finished product.

“Though the songs are conceived initially by a single member, every member has contributed in some way to every song,” comments the band. “After Ashley and Liz left, we kept writing songs but stopped playing shows, which allowed us to work more on our initial ideas and give them time to evolve, whereas the previous EP was primarily a way to release in a physical medium the songs we had been playing live for over a year. With ‘Far Flung Realm’ we also were fortunate to work with experienced producer Christian ‘Moschus’ Moos, who also helped shape our sound and added some light string and flute arrangements.”

GRETA VAN FLEET Announces New Album 'The Battle At Garden's Gate'; 'Age Of Machine' Single Available

GRETA VAN FLEET Announces New Album 'The Battle At Garden's Gate'; 'Age Of Machine' Single Available

GRETA VAN FLEET's new single, "Age Of Machine", can be streamed below. The track is taken from the band's second album, "The Battle At Garden's Gate", which will be released on April 16, 2021. Also included on the effort will be "My Way, Soon", which was made available in October.

Regarding the new album title, singer Josh Kiszka told Rolling Stone: "There are definitely Biblical references. Not just in the title, but throughout the entire album…This is a world with the ancient civilizations in it, just like our own parallel universe, really. It's an analogy. Each song is a theme. A magnification of different cultures and civilizations inside of this world searching for some kind of salvation or enlightenment."

"The Battle At Garden's Gate" was recorded at Southern California's Henson Recording Studios and No Expectations Studio with producer Greg Kurstin, who also worked on the last two FOO FIGHTERS albums.

When GRETA VAN FLEET released "Highway Tune" in March of 2017, a song that they wrote in their parent's garage before any of them had turned 18, they had no idea the change it would bring to their lives. The song would go on to become an international hit and top Billboard's Mainstream Rock Singles chart. "Highway Tune" would be followed by three more consecutive No. 1 singles, a debut album that entered Billboard's Top Rock Albums and Top Album Sales charts at No. 1, a Grammy Award for "Best Rock Album," appearances on "The Tonight Show" and "Saturday Night Live", a gold-certified debut album, an overflow crowd at their Coachella debut, a personal phone call from Elton John inviting them to perform at his Academy Awards Viewing Party, and most consequentially, 246 sold-out tour dates in 13 countries over five continents.

The four GRETA VAN FLEET bandmembers — Josh and his twin brother Jake Kiszka (guitars), younger brother Sam (bass, keyboards), and longtime family friend Danny Wagner (drums) — were still under the legal drinking age, and two of them hadn't yet graduated from high school. However, within a few months, they left their safe and familiar family homes in Frankenmuth, Michigan, and entered a whole new — and entirely unanticipated — whirlwind of a world. A world where they would learn and grow beyond their wildest imagination.

EVANESCENCE's 'The Bitter Truth' Gets Official Release Date; New Single 'Yeah Right' Now Available

EVANESCENCE's 'The Bitter Truth' Gets Official Release Date; New Single 'Yeah Right' Now Available

EVANESCENCE's first album of original music in a decade, "The Bitter Truth", will be released on March 26, 2021 via BMG.

Starting now, fans can pre-order a digital version, CD, vinyl and a limited-edition deluxe fan box set featuring a bonus CD, journal, poster and special cassette of exclusive audio from the making of "The Bitter Truth". Every pre-order will automatically come with downloads of already-released songs "Wasted On You", "The Game Is Over", and "Use My Voice", as well as "Yeah Right", the band's latest song to be released, out today.

Heavy and playful, the song's industrial groove combined with Amy Lee's biting lyrics reveals a self-cynical view of the band's experience thus far in the music industry.

"The Bitter Truth" is an epic, guitar-driven collection inspired by the (often-bitter) realities of the 21st Century and our world. The already-released songs have received early accolades from Elle, Billboard, SPIN, American Songwriter, and more, and showcase the "ferocious and hymnal" (The New York Times) sound that made EVANESCENCE a household name, as well as the drama and powerhouse vocals that made Amy Lee "one of rock's definitive voices" (Rolling Stone).

EVANESCENCE's new music was produced by Nick Raskulinecz, who also worked on 2011's self-titled LP.

When asked in an interview with U.K.'s Rock Sound if it was still accurate to describe the new EVANESCENCE material as "dark" and "heavy," as she did last year during the early stages of the songwriting process, Lee said: "It's hard to sum up. I don't think you can sum it up just by saying that. In our first sessions that we did when we were writing together, definitely we were focusing mostly on just raw and heavy, because we'd just come off of 'Synthesis' and we were just dying to kind of document our sound as a group — which is cool, and we needed it, and it is a part of this album for sure. But it's gonna be more of a full palette than just that.

"It's been a really long time since we've put out a full new album, so it's important that we kind of do it all and use all of the parts that make up our sound, if that makes sense," she continued.

"One of the things that we've been kind of aiming towards is taking the elements of what maybe are things that make up our sound and try to separate them and give each of them their own space. So some of the songs don't have strings and are fully rocking and heavy. And then some of the songs might be really in the electronic zone, and something might be more on the orchestral side. But overall, definitely coming off of what we just came off of, it's gonna be a rock record."

On the topic of "The Bitter Truth" album title, Amy said: "As the lyrics had started to form, and just my feeling in this moment in general, there's a big theme of disillusionment for me. Just growing up and seeing that fairy tales aren't really real. And it's hard to be a grownup — it really is. Because somebody else isn't in charge, we really have to be able to make our own decisions, find out our own information, protect ourselves. People die — we're all going to. There's no magic castle. So that sounds like a lot of doom and gloom when I say it, but there's a choice to accept that truth and live in it and embrace it and choose to live and choose to live in a moment, and the choice to just give up. And there's a struggle there, but my choice is most definitely to take that pill."

EVANESCENCE spent much of the last two years recording and touring in support of 2017's "Synthesis", which contained some of the band's best-loved songs — as well as a couple of new ones — reinvented with full orchestra over a deep electronic landscape.

EYEHATEGOD Releases 'High Risk Trigger' Single From 'A History Of Nomadic Behavior' Album

EYEHATEGOD Releases 'High Risk Trigger' Single From 'A History Of Nomadic Behavior' Album

New Orleans' disciples of hardcore, blues-based, post-amplified audio wreckage EYEHATEGOD have set a March 12 release date for the band's first new full-length album in seven years, "A History Of Nomadic Behavior". The official visualizer for the disc's first single, "High Risk Trigger", can be seen below. Lyrically, the song is cryptic and abstract, but it touches on the all-pervasive fears bred by an invisible germ storm sweeping through the nation and a society sickened by police brutality: "Infection is the way, disruptive crowd takes aim/Burn down the rail yard house, destroy the U.S.A."

Singer Mike IX Williams said of the songs on the album: "We're not a political band, but it was hard not to be affected by the news from the past year. During this recording, I thought a lot about how stupid humanity has become and how America is now completely divided with these people who don't believe in science and blindly follow liars and nonsensical ideologies. Some of those feelings may have found their way into these songs, but it is mostly subliminal."

"A History Of Nomadic Behavior" follows a period that saw EYEHATEGOD on the road for three years, preceded by Williams suffering liver failure and a transplant. "We toured our asses off for three years and that's where 'A History Of Nomadic Behavior' basically comes from," Williams says before touching on his health challenge: "Death is a part of life; it's a roll of the dice. Sometimes you take life as it comes, other times you fight to stay alive."

"A History Of Nomadic Behavior" was produced by EYEHATEGOD, Sanford Parker (YOB, VOIVOD) and James Whitten (THOU, HIGH ON FIRE), with mixing by Whitten. The band recorded at HighTower Recording and Hypercube studios. The artwork for the LP was created by Gary Mader and Mike IX Williams.

"A History Of Nomadic Behavior" track listing:

01. Built Beneath The Lies

02. The Outer Banks

03. Fake What's Yours

04. Three Black Eyes

05. Current Situation

06. High Risk Trigger

07. Anemic Robotic

08. The Day Felt Wrong

09. The Trial Of Johnny Cancer

10. Smoker's Place

11. Circle Of Nerves

12. Every Thing, Every Day

Last March, EYEHATEGOD scrapped the last three shows of its European tour due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The band later blamed "bumbling dolt" Donald Trump for announcing a ban on travel to the U.S. from 26 European countries, which caused chaos at European airports as Americans, fearing being caught up in the ban, attempted to travel home early.

EYEHATEGOD's last album, a self-titled affair, came out in 2014. It arrived a decade and a half after its predecessor, 2000's "Confederacy Of Ruined Lives".

EYEHATEGOD's 1990 "In The Name Of Suffering" and 1993 "Take As Needed For Pain" studio albums are considered their seminal works and are often cited as pillars of the American sludge sound alongside ACID BATH, BUZZOV*EN and CROWBAR.

STEEL PANTHER Releases New Song 'F**k 2020', Postpones Live Stream

STEEL PANTHER Releases New Song 'F**k 2020', Postpones Live Stream

California glam metal jokesters STEEL PANTHER have been forced to amend their virtual concert plans due to a rise in COVID-19 cases throughout the United States. With Los Angeles recently updating its health and safety regulations, the enacted stay-at-home order means Michael Starr, Satchel, Lexxi Foxx and Stix Zadinia have to postpone their upcoming Gobblefest livestream this weekend. All tickets will be valid when the event is rescheduled, and more information will be shared when available.

To give fans around the globe — and really anyone with a pulse — something to enjoy, the band has released a re-worked version of its song "Fuck Everybody", from their latest album "Heavy Metal Rules", now re-titled "Fuck 2020". The newly recorded version includes updated verses that reflect the insanity of this year. As stated as only STEEL PANTHER can: "Fuck 2020. 2020 can suck my dick." Exclusive "Fuck 2020" merchandise can be found here, and the new music video can be seen below. The song will be available on all streaming partners on December 7 — the original release date for the song. Anybody who purchased tickets to Gobblefest will get a free download of "Fuck 2020".

STEEL PANTHER said: "This year has been fucking tough on everyone. We were excited to hang with you all at Gobblefest this weekend and hopefully have some laughs, but COVID has other plans for us. We hope you enjoy the new song in the meantime. It has become an anthem for the band — and not just because we wrote it. Please join us in telling 2020 to suck our collective dick."

"Heavy Metal Rules" was released in September 2019. The disc, which is described in a press release as a "heavy metal version of a self-help manual and ultimate party album combined," was once again produced by Jay Ruston, who collaborated with the band on all of its previous recordings, including 2017's "Lower The Bar".

STEEL PANTHER specializes in imitating and exaggerating the less flattering aspects of 1980s hair metal, with unrepentantly crude, non-PC sexual content as a favorite lyrical theme.

The group's music has been described as "VAN HALEN meets MÖTLEY CRÜE meets RATT meets 'Wayne's World', complete with operatic shrieks, misogyny, shredding guitar solos and libidinal overdrive."

Twelve years ago, STEEL PANTHER changed its name from METAL SKOOL to its current moniker and shifted the focus of its act from '80s metal covers to originals.

There may even be a couple new songs as well! Everyone is looking forward to seeing all our fans and friends in what we hope is a much-needed return to live music next year!

"See you all soon.... No Parole From Rock N Roll! Be safe and keep rockin'!"

The band has also launched an all-new Facebook page where it will be posting all its news going forward.

The news of ALCATRAZZ moving forward with a new singer comes less than a month after founding ALCATRAZZ vocalist Graham Bonnet announced changes to the band's management, indicating in a statement on social media that "Bonnet and ALCATRAZZ are no longer affiliated with my former manager Giles Lavery." Almost immediately, the other ALCATRAZZ members shot back with their own statement, saying: "Regarding Graham Bonnet's post on Facebook, we, the band members of ALCATRAZZ, are still represented by our manager Giles Lavery. Graham Bonnet cannot dictate to us who our collective or individual manager may or may not be. We will make our own statement when the time is right."

ALCATRAZZ's new studio album, "Born Innocent", was released in July via Silver Lining Music. The LP featured Bonnet alongside fellow founding members Waldo and Shea, plus guitarist Joe Stump. Chris Impellitteri wrote the music and played all guitars on the "Born Innocent" title track, while Bob Kulick wrote and laid down guitar for "I Am The King". Former ALCATRAZZ guitarist Steve Vai wrote "Dirty Like The City".

In a recent interview with Hollywood Soapbox, Bonnet stated about "Born Innocent": "We were not quite sure what to do, to be honest with you. We wanted to make an album that was kind of like a tribute to the original ALCATRAZZ but at the same time make it something that had a modern sound, and so I think we've kind of captured that. But it took awhile for songs to come together because we weren't quite sure how we should approach it, whether we should be totally different or something similar to [the original] ALCATRAZZ, and I think that's what we decided to do. We got in Joe Stump who plays in that typical 1980s style. If he wants to, he's really adaptable in all he does actually. He's very chameleon-like and can play with lots of different people."
