U.K.'s WARGASM Taps COREY TAYLOR For New Single '70% Dead'

Dynamic London, United Kingdom-based duo WARGASM (not to be confused with the cult 1980s Boston metal band of the same name) has released a new single featuring a guest appearance by SLIPKNOT's Corey Taylor. The track, titled "70% Dead", was recorded while WARGASM was on tour with Taylor on his solo run in the States.

WARGASM states: "We were on the road in the USA with Corey. [WARGASM's] Sam [Matlock] ended up jumping on a mic with him during his set and we just felt like the voices sounded right together. It totally made sense to do something fresh with the three of us and well… you don't ask, you don't get.

"Some OG fans might recognize the lyrics. This has been a long time coming. '70% Dead' is a cry-out at a world gone mad; war, disease, inequality. It feels like something is brewing.

"'Fuck me, what went wrong? / I'm sick of sleeping on the barrel of a loaded gun.'"

After touring with ENTER SHIKARI and LIMP BIZKIT at the end of 2022, WARGASM supported Taylor on his U.S. tour. They also performed at last year's Louder Than Life and Aftershock festivals.

In 2022, WARGASM unleashed "Explicit: The Mixxxtape". It piled up 10 million-plus streams, earned raves from the likes of Paper magazine, Loudwire (who hailed it as one of their "Best New Debut Rock + Metal Albums of 2022") and Revolver magazine who said "WARGASM don't just have the nu-metal sound, they have the swagger." Not to mention they have previously been featured on the covers of Alternative Press and Kerrang! Plus, they took home the first-ever "New Noise Award" at the 2022 Kerrang! Awards.

WARGASM are the climax of an orgy between heavy metal, electronic, rave, alternative, and industrial powered up by the friction of two gleefully insane creative insurgents Milkie Way and Sam Matlock. They honed a vital and visceral vision across early bangers such as "Spit.", "Rage All Over", "Salma Hayek" and "Scratchcard Feeling", paving the way for 2022's "Explicit: The Mixxxtape". Beyond reeling in over 10 million streams and counting, the latter earned the endorsement of icons such as Jonathan Davis of KORN and Fred Durst of LIMP BIZKIT who personally tapped the band to open a 2022 North American arena tour. They stand out the rare force of nature who could hold their own on tour with either Yungblud or Corey Taylor of SLIPKNOT. However, everything simply set the stage for their 2023 full-length debut album, "Venom". The duo deliver a shockingly catchy blast of horny and hypnotic heavy music as unpredictable as it is uncompromising. Its lineage can be traced to the big-screen genre mashing of the 1990s, yet it's spiked with a 21st century fury that could only belong to WARGASM.

About Somewhere Far Beyond Revisited:

Right on time with their show at 2024’s edition of Wacken Open Air, Blind Guardian proudly announce the release of Somewhere Far Beyond Revisited on August 2 which includes a complete re-recording of this classic as well as a live celebration of 1992’s Somewhere Far Beyond, a landmark record for Germany’s heavy metal titans. After three albums on No Remorse Records, it was the band’s major label debut via Virgin Records and opened the doors to the Japanese market resulting in a wider availability and presence on the global metal scene. After finding the right balance of speed, heaviness, melodies, drama, and irresistible choruses on 1990’s Tales From The Twilight World, Somewhere Far Beyond honed this approach to perfection, evolving further on a conceptual level and increasing Blind Guardian’s sonic range. On Somewhere Far Beyond the band experimented with keyboards, orchestrations, and folk elements, the latter manifesting in the group’s best-known song and live staple, "The Bard's Song (In The Forest)", whereas other tracks like "Ashes to Ashes", the rapid "Journey Through The Dark" or "The Quest For Tanelorn" connected well with previous mostly fast-paced albums yet offered an additional push in dynamics.

Fast forward 30 years! Prior to releasing the much lauded opus The God Machine in September 2022, Blind Guardian had been performing Somewhere Far Beyond in its entirety at Rock Hard Festival and Hellfest in Summer 2022 in front of tens of thousands of fans singing along to each track. Both shows were filmed and recorded professionally and aired via WDR and ARTE. For the limited triple-disc-edition of Somewhere Far Beyond Revisited the Hellfest material was newly edited by the band’s long-time videographer Dirk Behlau using additional multi-cam footage.

The idea of re-recording the album originated from the rehearsals for these shows as Hansi Kürsch explains in the detailed liner notes: “The original idea wasn’t to do a re-recording. When rehearsing for the anniversary gigs, corona hit and we couldn’t be certain that those shows would take place. We still wanted to celebrate the anniversary of the album and if we wouldn’t be able to include a live version, we initially thought we could at least record the rehearsals.”

Not 100% satisfied with those rough versions, Blind Guardian decided to go all in, knowing the risk of being frowned upon by fans who consider re-recordings utter blasphemy. “We tried to recapture what we did in 1992 but compensate youth with skillful experience, though in a hungry way. We never discussed any major changes but with over 30 years of experience, and our current line-up, those ingredients already add a new flavor to it.” With the basic tracks recorded in a live setting, Somewhere Far Beyond Revisited is leaner and more focused on impact in terms of guitar arrangements yet retains all the harmonies and melodies essential to the original. “We finally ended up with this cool hybrid version”, André adds. “We combined how we play the songs today, but at the same time, really tried to retain that speed metal spirit of the early 90s!”

STONE SOUR/MINISTRY Drummer ROY MAYORGA To Join JERRY CANTRELL's Solo Band

STONE SOUR and MINISTRY drummer Roy Mayorga will sit behind the kit for Jerry Cantrell during the ALICE IN CHAINS guitarist's summer 2024 tour.

The trek, which will be headlined by BUSH, will launch on July 26 at Hayden Homes Amphitheater in Bend, Oregon and will conclude on September 15 at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, California. Also appearing on the bill will be CANDLEBOX.

Mayorga announced his addition to Cantrell's band in a social media post earlier today (Monday, July 8). He wrote: "Super excited to announce that I'll be hitting the road this summer with Jerry Cantrell supporting BUSH for their 'Loaded: The Greatest Hits' tour, which means I'll be taking break from MINISTRY for a while, but I shall return at some point. Look forward to rocking out with you all this summer."

Mayorga joined STONE SOUR in 2006 and was a touring drummer for HELLYEAH after Vinnie Paul Abbott passed away in 2018. Five years ago, he played drums on three tracks on LAMB OF GOD guitarist Mark Morton's solo album.

Mayorga played on MINSTRY's last two studio albums and has toured with the group since 2021.

Cantrell's band for his 2022 "Brighten" solo tour consisted of Tyler Bates (guitar),Greg Puciato (backing vocals),Gil Sharone (drums),George Adrian (bass),Michael Rozon (pedal steel) and Jason Achilles (keyboards). The set included songs from Cantrell's latest solo album, "Brighten", along with favorite hits from Jerry's catalog.

SAMMY HAGAR: 'We Reached Out To ALEX VAN HALEN A Dozen Times' About Taking Part In 'The Best Of All Worlds' Tour

In a new interview with Ultimate Classic Rock, Sammy Hagar once again discussed his upcoming summer 2024 tour with bassist Michael Anthony, guitarist Joe Satriani and drummer Jason Bonham that will focus largely on the music of VAN HALEN. The 2024 tour will come more than two years after Satriani revealed that he was approached about participating in a VAN HALEN tribute show with David Lee Roth and Alex Van Halen. That project never got off the ground, reportedly because Roth was "holding up" getting everything approved.

Regarding if there was any attempt made to see if Alex would be interested in taking part in "The Best Of All Worlds" prior to getting Bonham involved, Hagar said: "Mike and I reached out to Alex before we did this. We reached out to him a dozen times before this tour, in every way. E-mail, text message, phone call, message on the machine, okay? No response. No response. I mean, we made every offer to get together or to just talk or to have breakfast, lunch or dinner. Go to the studio and play. Come to my house or I'll come to your house. Go ride horses, go sit on the beach. What do you want to do? Let's just do something. Let's get together. And nothing."

Explaining that he and Alex Van Halen "don't have a relationship," Hagar added: "When the tour came, the first person we called and left all of the messages, sent all of emails, it was Alex Van Halen. Mike and I said, 'We're wanting to do this thing.' Alex's famous line to me [was], 'Sammy, we ain't getting any younger.' Mike and I said, 'Alex, we ain't getting any younger. We're going out and playing for the people. We're going to go honor the VAN HALEN catalog. Let's just get together and let's talk about it. Mike and I, we're going out, we're going to do this, Alex. Please join us. Let's be friends, let's bury the hatchet, whatever.' There was no response. I was saying, 'He'll come to a show, he's got to — in L.A. or something. I'm sure he'll come.' But no, no, he sold all of his equipment. That was his statement. That was like, 'ah, I ain't coming nowhere.'"

Hagar previously discussed the possibility of Alex taking part in "The Best Of All Worlds" last November during an appearance on SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk". At the time, he said: "Jason insisted upon, 'I will not say yes to do this thing until at least you get… Alex says yes or no.' Alex hasn't returned my call for five years. I've called, I've left messages, I've left texts, I've left e-mails.

"I don't think Al really wants to go out and play; otherwise they would have did it with Joe when they were thinking about it [back in 2021]," he continued. "And [VAN HALEN's manager] Irving Azoff called me [around that time in 2021] and said, 'Hey, would you do it? Somebody's out of their mind. You and Alex, I've gotta get you guys together.' I said, 'Fine.' He said, 'Reach out one more time.' I reached out one more time. No response.

"Alex never played with anybody ever except his brother," Hagar added. "He never jammed with anybody. The whole time we were in VAN HALEN, Mike and I would be out playing clubs with Eddie [Van Halen], jumping on stage on nights off. And Alex [would be] standing on the side of the stage [and looking on]."

Sammy also talked about the upcoming tour during an appearance on "The Howard Stern Show". "It's time. Nobody else is gonna do it," Sammy stated about performing songs from different eras of VAN HALEN. "If Dave [Lee Roth] goes out, he can't sing my stuff. [But] we can do a few of the early VAN HALEN songs. I have no problem with that; I did it when I was in VAN HALEN. This is really a celebration of all that, and we are the only ones who can do it."

Sammy continued: "We're gonna invite every musician in every town. First of all, whenever you play, if there's a guitar player in town, no matter what city it is, they come out to see Joe, just like they used to for Eddie [Van Halen]. So if we've got other guitar players, we'll get them involved, other singers, get them involved. If Alex Van Halen wants to jump up, if David Lee Roth wants to come out and join us, come on, motherfucker. You are welcome. This is about VAN HALEN."

Asked by Howard Stern what the odds are that Alex Van Halen would show up on the tour and "maybe join the celebration of his brother", Hagar said: "I would hope so. I reach out to Al about once a month for about five years now, and he doesn't get back to me… I call, I leave a voice message, I send a text and I send an e-mail. All three things. 'Al, give me a call.' Al's favorite line to me was always, every time he wanted to get back together, he would say, 'You know, Sam, we ain't getting any younger.' So I'd say, 'Hey, Al, we ain't getting any younger. Give me a call. Let me know. What do you wanna do? Come on over. Let's get together. Mike and I'll meet you somewhere.'"

Hagar and Anthony previously worked with Satriani in the supergroup CHICKENFOOT. They recorded two albums between 2009 and 2011 and toured across America but never performed any VAN HALEN material. More recently, Hagar and Anthony have played some of the VAN HALEN catalog with guitarist Vic Johnson and Bonham in SAMMY HAGAR AND THE CIRCLE.

Hagar mended his relationship with Eddie Van Halen months prior to the legendary VAN HALEN guitarist's October 2020 passing.

Hagar replaced Roth in VAN HALEN in 1985 and recorded four studio albums with the band — "5150", "OU812", "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge" and "Balance" — all of which topped the U.S. chart.

Sammy, Eddie, Alex and Michael last teamed up in 2004 for a U.S. summer tour. In exchange for taking part in the tour, Anthony reportedly had to agree to take a pay cut and sign away his rights to the band name and logo.

Produced by Live Nation, the 28-date "The Best Of All Worlds" tour will commence on July 13 in West Palm Beach, Florida and will conclude on August 31 in St. Louis, Missouri.

"We're gonna go deep into the VAN HALEN catalog," Hagar told "The Howard Stern Show". "If you're gonna go deep into the VAN HALEN catalog, you need Joe Satriani."

Although Hagar and Anthony normally play five or six VAN HALEN songs" on the road with THE CIRCLE, Sammy told Stern they are planning to only play "five or six of my songs" alongside VAN HALEN classics and deep cuts.

"When we go out next year in July, it will be almost exactly 20 years since Mike and I did a reunion with Ed and Al in '04," Hagar said. "Mike and I just said, 'We can't wait another 20 years. How long can I even sing these songs? How long can I do this stuff? I just thought it's time to serve the fans."

"There's stuff we're going to do on this next tour that we haven't played since that tour in 2004," Anthony added.

Regarding the challenge of learning legendary VAN HALEN guitarist Eddie Van Halen's parts, Satriani said: "There are things that are so iconic, you have to nail it. But if you go deep with what he did live, he never played the same thing twice. He kept evolving; he kept pushing. He'd do the recorded version a little bit, but then he moved on.

"It's a daunting task when you do the deep dive into what he did," he continued. "But it's good to start at the beginning, and then you just learn all his little improvs and you get the idea of what he was trying to do. It's thrilling; it's fun."

GREAT AMERICAN GHOST Release New Single “Forsaken”

Great American Ghost approach their craft with a relentless sense of exploration. Consistently pushing the heavy music envelope since their inception in 2012, the band has steadily grown as a genre defying group amongst their peers in the metal and -core world. The band recently announced their signing to SharpTone Records that coincided with the release of “Hymn Of Decay,” their first new song and video since 2022 which introduced new members Grayson Stewart (guitar) and Anthony Laur (bass). Today, the band has shared another new single and video “Forsaken”.

“Forsaken” immediately pummels the listener with blast beats and buzz saw riffs. While the song rages intently from the second you push play, the arrangement carries through sonic twists and turns that highlight the band’s explorative writing style. The vocals on this tune spiral into a hellish cacophony of anguished screams before diving into a massive breakdown. The official video for “Forsaken” finds Great American Ghost giving a fiery performance.

On “Forsaken,” vocalist Ethan Harrison shares:

"This is the best song Great American Ghost has created up to this point in our career. This is a song I wrote from a place of hopelessness and nihilism. The world is getting worse by the second and the people meant to have our best interest in mind are doing nothing but enriching themselves while it burns. Something needs to change now or someday this will all end. That's what this song is about; the end"

Great American Ghost has always been built on the belief that nothing is off limits or taboo, with everything to be mined as an influence or used as a milestone to further an already sharpened sound. The promise of devastating music with extreme intent is fully realized on their latest release, ushering in a new era for their already impressive discography.

Great American Ghost is Ethan Harrison (vocals), Grayson Steward (guitar), Anthony Laur (bass) and Niko Gasparrini (guitar).

Former RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS Guitarist JOSH KLINGHOFFER Sued For Wrongful Death

Former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer is being sued for wrongful death and for allegedly being behind the wheel of a car that ran over and killed a pedestrian, reports TMZ.

According to a new lawsuit, obtained by TMZ, Josh was driving a black GMC Yukon in Alhambra, CA back in March when he made a left turn and ran into a pedestrian who was using a crosswalk.

The suit says the pedestrian, 47-year-old Israel Sanchez, was dragged across the asphalt as a result of the collision and sustained blunt force trauma to his head, injuries that ultimately killed him only hours later.

TMZ also obtained video of the alleged incident... showing a man crossing a street in the crosswalk when he's run over from behind by a black SUV making a left turn. The suit says Josh was driving the car and didn't so much as tap his brakes. He's also accused of being distracted behind the wheel.

Josh Klinghoffer's attorney, Andrew Brettler, tells TMZ: "It was a tragic accident. After Josh struck this pedestrian in the intersection, he immediately pulled over, stopped the car, called 911 and waited until police and the ambulance arrived. Obviously, he's cooperating with the police throughout the traffic investigation. This was purely a tragic accident."

FRONTLINE Share Cover Of POST MALONE's "Hollywood's Bleeding"; Back With A 6-Pack EP To Be Released This Year

To break the silence since their debut album, Scream All You Want, Dutch hard rock band Frontline has decided to release a cover of Post Malone's title track from his 2019 album, "Hollywood's Bleeding", as a single. This single serves as a promo for our upcoming EP, Back With A 6-Pack, which will also present 5 self-penned new tracks.

The band comments:

"Even though he's rooted in hip hop, Malone definitely has connections to hard rock, having collaborated with Ozzy Osbourne before. 'Hollywood's Bleeding''s lyrics are mainly about decadence, hedonism and nihilism in Hollywood, and since many of the artists we're inspired by are from the same area and embody the same themes, that definitely motivated us to cover it. A quick online search shows that we weren't the only band that noticed the song's suitability for a rock cover, but nonetheless, we think our version offers a unique interpretation."

The single was recorded in April with Thomas Kunst on vocals, guitarists Arti Flinkerbusch and Thijs Stoffelen, Steven Wijtenburg on bass and drummer Wouter Michawitz. The cover art was done by Steven Wijtenburg and shows the Hollywood Hills in the midst of a volcanic eruption, with the lava spelling out "Bleeding" under the famous sign. The night sky in the background shows a colour pattern hinting to the cover of Malone's original album. "Hollywood's Bleeding" is now available on Spotify and other major streaming platforms.

Frontline is a hard rock band from Delft, the Netherlands, consisting of five enthusiastic band members; Thomas (vocals), Arti (lead guitar), Thijs (rhythm guitar), Steven (bass) and Wouter (drums). The band formed in the summer of 2018. Arti wrote a bunch of hard rock songs inspired by legends such as Guns N’ Roses, Thin Lizzy and Led Zeppelin, and was looking for the right musicians to perform them with. He found these through jam sessions in a medieval cellar in the city center of Delft. The band had a string of live performances through which they tested & tweaked their songs, after which they felt confident enough to start recording them. Beginning with a lo-fi EP in 2020, they spent the following year upgrading their production techniques, culminating in a crisply recorded & tightly mixed single, “Judgment Day” released in November 2021. On the basis of their EP, Frontline was previously described by Canadian site Sleaze Roxx as “a gem waiting to be polished”.

In October 2022, their long-awaited album, Scream All You Want, was released to Spotify and other channels, featuring 12 self-penned originals, and a hard rock cover of Taylor Dayne's 1987 dance-pop hit, "Tell It To My Heart".

Frontline is:

Vocals - Thomas Kunst
Lead guitar - Arti Flinkerbusch
Rhythm guitar - Thijs Stoffelen
Bass guitar - Steven Wijtenburg
Drums - Wouter Michawitz

Germany’s TEMPLE OF DREAD – “Carnage Ritual” Lyric Video Streaming

Temple Of Dread has dropped a lyric video for the crushing track “Carnage Ritual”, which is the first single taken from the East Frisians' forthcoming new album. God Of The Godless is scheduled for release on October 4, 2024. Preorder here.

"Our first single 'Carnage Ritual' harks back musically to the beginnings of this band and comes with no compromises and no experiments – but just delivers four minutes of full steam ahead!", guitar shredder Markus Bünnemeyer enthuses. "The lyrics are just as much to the point: Greek myth tells of how the people of Athens were compelled by King Minos of Krete to choose seven young men and seven young women to be offered to the monster Minotaur – half man, half bull. These sacrificial victims were to be killed in retribution for the death of Minos' son. The visualisation for this track was again provided by Ecuadorian director Christian Kdrumworm with diligent attention to the details of the stunning artwork by Paolo Girardi!"

Death metal can hardly get more dedicated and passionate about the old school Floridian sound than Temple Of Dread on their fifth album God Of The Godless. This might have something to do with the band being located on the German North Sea island of Spiekeroog and the famously laconic and stubborn character of the East Frisian people.

Luckily, Temple Of Dread are not mired in a swamp of stale nostalgia. Although God Of The Godless comes with the brutal power of harsh winter storms and the gritty texture of the often fierce North Sea weather, the East Frisians have also refined the cinematic aspects of their sound that they had firmly established on the predecessor Beyond Acheron (2023).

Tracklisting:

“Carnage Ritual”
“Spawn Of Filth”
“Black Scream”
“Sacrificial Dawn”
“God Of The Godless”
“Prophetic Misanthropy”
“Monstrosity Divine”
“Terminal Putrefaction”
“Demise Of Olympus”

KANONENFIEBER Releases “Panzerhenker” Video; Reveal Die Urkatastrophe Details

On September 20, blackened death metal outfit Kanonenfieber will release their sophomore album, Die Urkatastrophe, via Century Media Records. For a preview of the record, a video for the new single, "Panzerhenker" is available below.

Kanonenfieber explains about the back story of "Panzerhenker": "The Battle of Cambrai took place from November 20 to 30, 1917 and marked the first offensive in which tanks played a decisive role in the attack strategy. The British carried out the attack with the support of battle and auxiliary tanks as well as an intensive barrage. The offensive was halted by German counterattacks. With the help of anti-tank field guns the Germans managed to take out a large number of the British tanks. J. Krüger, who was known as the 'Panzerhenker' (= Tankslayer / Tank Executioner), played an important role in this. Even when his battery was wiped out, Krüger remained as the last survivor at a field gun and destroyed up to 16 of the approaching tanks. When enemy assault troops penetrated his positions, he attacked with a pistol and was eventually wounded and captured."

Regarding Die Urkatastrophe - "The First World War accelerated the path to modernity and is considered the 'Die Urkatastrophe' (= 'primal catastrophe') of the 20th century, which was characterized by wars, violence and displacement. Around 17 million people, soldiers and civilians lost their lives, large parts of Europe were destroyed and unresolved problems were left behind, which led to further violent conflicts. This album is dedicated to the victims of the First World War, so they are not forgotten. May their fates be a warning for all following generations even after more than 100 years," says Noise, who records all instruments in the studio and who is also responsible for the concept of Kanonenfieber.

As with its predecessor, Kanonenfieber's second album Die Urkatastrophe is based on factual reports, letters and original documents from the surviving and deceased soldiers from the First World War. Its intent is not to glorify, because there is no glory in war. Everyone loses - their lives, their souls, their humanity. War is often depicted in an abstract way, through numbers and statistics. Kanonenfieber aim to tell the stories of the nameless and the faceless in order to allow for a small glimpse of their personal horrors, and thereby the larger scale horror for mankind as a whole.

IN HEARTS WAKE Share “The Flood (ǝɔᴉʇsnɾ)" Video

Combustive and ravenously raw, the brand new single "The Flood (ǝɔᴉʇsnɾ)" from Australian metalcore band In Hearts Wake merges real-life devastation with vivid sonic dexterity. Releasing today via UNFD, "The Flood (ǝɔᴉʇsnɾ)" also features Parkway Drive's Winston McCall on guest vocal duties.

Another piercing cut from In Hearts Wake's forthcoming sixth studio album Incarnation, due out this Friday July 12, "The Flood (ǝɔᴉʇsnɾ)" snapshots the band's experiences during the 2022 floods that ravaged Northern NSW, with the addition of fellow Byron Bay native McCall, who adds ferocious gravitas.

Balancing pummeling arrangements with fleeting moments of austere atmospherics, "The Flood (ǝɔᴉʇsnɾ)" ultimately channels genuine fear and tragedy into a hulking and cathartic metalcore masterpiece. And, as vocalist Jake Taylor reveals, the return of McCall on guest vocal duties following his feature on the 2012 In Hearts Wake track "Departure (Death)" organically transpired during the aftermath of the 2022 floods.

"The Flood. Where to start?," shares Taylor. "It was February 2022 and torrential rains hit our home region in Northern Rivers NSW. Entire towns swallowed two stories underwater. Homes and lives were lost. The floods were biblical. My step-dad narrowly escaped out of a second story window by jumping onto a floating mattress."

He continues, "In the weeks that followed, I was out in Lismore NSW delivering emergency supplies with the rest of the band and I bumped into Winston (vocalist of Parkway Drive), who was helping out on a food run. We couldn't believe the destruction we were seeing, and yet at the same time, the resilience and strength of the people. 12 years since Winston's last feature on Divination and it felt right to reconnect and collaborate on such an important event that happened to our community."

In addition to McCall, Incarnation also boasts a sweltering lineup of guest features, including Paledusk vocalist Kaito Nagai on Shishigami シシ神 (ssǝɹdɯǝ ǝɥʇ), Chad Ruhlig of For the Fallen Dreams, David Gunn of King 810 and Alfonso Civile of Heartsick on Michigama (uɐᴉɔᴉƃɐɯ ǝɥʇ), and The Color Morale's Garret Rapp on Shellshock (ssǝʇsǝᴉɹd ɥƃᴉɥ ǝɥʇ).

Throughout the lead up to the release of their new album, In Hearts Wake have been operating an official Incarnation Tarot-themed website that fans can visit throughout the album rollout for access to behind the scenes, exclusive info, and Incarnation announcements. And for fans keen to sleuth a sneak peek at parts of the unreleased track "Feeding The Dead (ǝɔuɐɹǝdɯǝʇ)," In Hearts Wake are currently offering a gateway to finding the song's stem files hidden across the internet. Collect them all and piece them together to get your hands on the full instrumental for "Feeding The Dead (ǝɔuɐɹǝdɯǝʇ)" before its official release. Visit this location for more information.

Recently appearing at UNIFY Off The Record and wowing audiences across Australia with their Decade Of Divination tour last year, In Hearts Wake now turn their gaze to their new full-length Incarnation in 2024, with the band also set to celebrate and farewell their journey to date with long-time bassist and vocalist Kyle Erich this September. Spanning Newcastle, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth, In Hearts Wake will also be joined by special guests Paleface Swiss, King 810, and Gravemind.

Ahead of the Incarnation Australian Tour and in conjunction with announcing Erich's departure, In Hearts Wake also recently shared a new single, "Farewell," with the track fittingly bringing to a close the monumental chapter for Erich and In Hearts Wake.

SERJ TANKIAN Continues Criticizing IMAGINE DRAGONS For Playing Concert In Azerbaijan

SYSTEM OF A DOWN vocalist Serj Tankian has responded to IMAGINE DRAGONS frontman Dan Reynolds's defense of the latter band's decision to perform in Azerbaijan.

Last month, Tankian called out IMAGINE DRAGONS for their concert in Azerbaijan, saying he doesn't "respect them as human beings".

The American pop-rock band performed in the country's capital city, Baku, last September, which some perceived as being an endorsement of Azerbeijan's authoritarian president, Ilham Aliyev.

Prior to IMAGINE DRAGONS' September 2, 2023 gig in Baku, Tankian, who is Armenian-American, wrote a "kind" personal letter to the band asking them to pull out of the Baku Olympic Stadium show, explaining that going ahead with the gig would help to "whitewash the dictatorial regime's image".

"I really feel that performing in Azerbaijan would have a negative impact on your brand as well," his letter added, also citing an Associated Press news report which stated that the country was preparing genocide against ethnic Armenians in its Nagorno-Karabakh region. "I'm confident that you can decipher all the facts for yourselves to decide whether to cancel your concert."

After the show went ahead, Tankian told Metal Hammer: "I don't respect them [IMAGINE DRAGONS] as human beings.

"Fuck their art, they're not good human beings as far as I'm concerned."

Reynolds responded to Tankian's criticism in a recent Rolling Stone feature.

"I don't believe in depriving our fans who want to see us play because of the acts of their leaders and their governments," Dan said. "I think that's a really slippery slope. I think the second you start to do that, there's corrupt leaders and warmongers all over the world, and where do you draw the line?"

When Rolling Stone writer Andy Greene brought up Tankian's comments specifically, Reynolds simply restated his position: "I think I just said it. It's a slippery slope, and I'm never going to deprive our fans of playing for them."

On Thursday night (July 4),Tankian took to his social media to issue a response to Reynolds's comments. After quoting the IMAGINE DRAGONS singer's rhetorical question, Tankian wrote: "Respectfully, I draw the line at ethnic cleansing and genocide."

He continued: "Azerbaijan's dictatorship with popular support was already into a 9 month starvation blockade of Nagorno-Karabagh qualified as Genocide by former [International Criminal Court] prosecutor [Luis Moreno Ocampo] when they [IMAGINE DRAGONS] decided to play Baku.

"Would they play in Nazi Germany? Why don't they want to play in Russia? Because it's not popular?

"They support Ukraine but not Armenians of Artsakh?

"The only 'slippery slope' is the farce moral equivalency at the heart of this hypocritical attitude."

Tankian added: "I have nothing against this guy nor his band. I just hate artists being taken advantage of to whitewash Genocidal dictatorships."

Tankian released a memoir, "Down With The System", on May 14 via Hachette Books.

IMAGINE DRAGONS issued a new album, "Loom", on June 28 via Interscope.

Dan Reynolds stated: “I don’t believe in depriving our fans who want to see us play because of the acts of their leaders...

DOOMBOYZ Release Debut Album, “The Reaper” Music Video; Endorsed By METALLICA’s ROBERT TRUJILLO

Los Angeles, CA-based stoner rock/doom metal outfit Doomboyz have unleashed their debut album Evil Riffs From Los Angeles today across all music platforms via Regime Music Group. The album was recorded at the Foo Fighters’ coveted Studio 606 where it was engineered, mixed & mastered by Robert Adam Stevenson (Queens Of The Stone Age, Jane’s Addiction, Jeff Beck & Johnny Depp).

To celebrate the release of the album, Doomboyz have released a brand new music video for "The Reaper". The video was directed by Danilo Dayani on both 16mm film and HD digital and plays out like a vintage grindhouse film as the band are one by one taken out by a merciless death cult.

"The Reaper is a hard riff driven meditation on death and the salvation from suffering it can provide," commented Doomboyz frontman Amit Gilad. "The song is written from the perspective of The Grim Reaper seeking...or seducing her victim, as well as describing a harrowing death of attrition in the desert where the soul contemplates the end and is coaxed into death's embrace. Welcome to Hell..."

Musically Doomboyz summon the sludgy hard rock of Alice In Chains, Danzig and Kyuss, and then mix it together with a healthy hit of doom riffs that were perfected by Black Sabbath and Sleep. Taking inspiration from the legendary desert parties and windswept riffs that defined classic stoner rock records, Doomboyz are defined by big heavy riffs, headbanging backbeats and a healthy dose of LA sleaze.

Doomboyz have been turning heads in and around the Los Angeles scene after the band recently jammed on stage at a recent show with Metallica's Robert Trujillo and Red Hot Chili Peppers Chad Smith performing Black Sabbath classics. Trujillo said, "This band blew my head off" referring to Doomboyz. Kyuss guitarist Brant Bjork also chimed in after hearing the band's new album Evil Riffs From Los Angeles calling it, "A seriously rad rock record in search of seriously rad car stereos everywhere."

Doomboyz arrived on the scene in 2022. When it was time to cut their debut record, they were connected by friend John Theodore of Queens of the Stone Age to Robert Adam Stevenson and the team at Studio 606. Studio 606 is home to the legendary Sound City Neve 8028 console that has minted classic records for Metallica, Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine, Slayer and countless others. That studio was also the focus of the 2013 documentary film Sound City directed by Dave Grohl, which chronicled the history of recording at Sound City Studios.

SOMETIME IN FEBRUARY Launch New Single "The Bad Fight" Feat. BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME's Paul Waggoner; Music Video

InsideOutMusic recently announced the signing of US-based rising instrumental progressive metallers, Sometime In February, to a worldwide deal. Today, the band are pleased to announce their new single, "The Bad Fight", is out to stream everywhere now, and for this one they received the help of a few friends.

As the band explains: “The song came together quickly, and as soon as it was written we knew we had to pull out all the stops for it. We asked our friend Paul Waggoner of Between The Buried And Me to feature on it with a guest solo that is pitch perfect. Eric Guenther of The Contortionist contributed keys, synths, and sound design to take it to the next level. Dan Briggs, also of BTBAM, sprinkled additional sound design on top. And of course, we love to feature saxophone when we can, so our friend Rich Castillo of The Callous Daoboys added his touch to create a tasteful layer.”

Stream the track here, and watch the video, shot by Luke Gura inside a courthouse near the bands hometown, below:

The band have also announced US live dates for July, you can catch them at the shows listed below.

14 - Mag Bar - Louisville, KY
16 - Amityville Music Hall - Long Island, NY

Originally founded as an instrumental solo project for guitarist Tristan Auman in 2020, Sometime In February became a fully rounded prog rock trio with the addition of drummer Scott Barber and bassist Morgan Johnson after making the jump from studio to stage following the release of their Here Goes EP in 2021.

The Carolina-based group has kept their foot on the gas ever since, touring throughout the Southeast US and releasing their follow-up, the debut LP There Goes, in 2023. Their first full-length record gained attention from prog fans and peers alike, with Tristan receiving an invitation to join Between The Buried And Me in a live capacity throughout the Parallax II: Future Sequence Tour.

The band comments: “We are thrilled to be signing to the world’s premier label for progressive music, InsideOutMusic. Sometime in February wouldn’t exist without many of the artists on their roster, and it’s an honor to stand beside them. Thomas Waber has been supportive and encouraging to us for some time now, and we’re excited that we found the right moment to work together and make InsideOutMusic the home for the next era of Sometime In February.”

InsideOutMusic label-head Thomas Waber adds: "We are extremely excited to be working alongside this talented young US band. After talking to them for a while, it felt like now was the right time to welcome them to the fold, and on the evidence of the new track ‘Hiding Place’, bright things are ahead!”

BLACKMORE'S NIGHT To Release Fires At Midnight (25th Anniversary Edition) In September; Lyric Video Posted For "Written In The Stars" (New Vocal Version)

Blackmore’s Night continue celebrating their 25th Anniversary (and counting) with the release of a very special edition of their acclaimed third studio album, Fires At Midnight. Fully remixed from the original multi-track masters, the 25th Anniversary Edition will be released on September 27 via earMUSIC.

With shared love for the tradition of Renaissance and Folk-Rock music, legendary guitarist Ritchie Blackmore and award-winning lyricist and singer Candice Night founded Blackmore’s Night in 1997. They have been enchanting audiences around the world ever since.

After hitting off the celebrations for their 25th anniversary with a fully remixed edition of their debut album, Shadow Of The Moon, in 2023, this year Candice and Ritchie continue with the worldwide release of a very special edition of their acclaimed third studio album, Fires At Midnight, originally released in July 2001. The album entered the Official German Album Charts at #9, making it Blackmore’s Night’s first record to hit the Top 10 Charts in Germany.

On this album, Blackmore’s Night started incorporating electric guitar into their songs, alongside organic instruments like hurdy gurdies, shawms and harps. They had been touring for several years at this point and were playing concerts in castle courtyards, churches and theatres. One evening, when leaving a venue in the Czech Republic late at night, the idea for Fires At Midnight was born. "It was bonfire night, and we could just see all of these bonfires that were lit on the hillsides," Candice Night recalls, "and that inspired the idea of the song ‘Fires At Midnight’."

Like Shadow Of The Moon, the 25th Anniversary Edition of Fires At Midnight has been fully remixed from the original multi-track masters. The album will be released as a Vinyl LP for the very first time and includes all bonus-tracks from the previous editions as well as two brand new versions with new vocal parts recorded by Candice Night in 2024 (‘Written In The Stars’ and the album’s title track).

Pre-order Fires At Midnight (25th Anniversary Edition) here.

The first single taken from the forthcoming album, “Written In The Stars" (25th Anniversary New Vocal Version), featuring brand new vocal parts recorded by Candice Night in 2024, is a magical foretaste of everything this Anniversary Edition has in store for fans.

SAVAGE LANDS Receive One Million Dollar Donation From Hellfest

Savage Lands are still buzzing after last week's performance on the mainstage at Hellfest. Today, the musician-run 501(c) 3 non-profit is thrilled to announce that the festival is donating one million Euro to support their ongoing reforestation efforts in Costa Rica and Europe.

"This is a historical move by Hellfest and a great signal to the music industry", says musician-turned-activist Sylvain Demercastel, who founded Savage Lands with Megadeth drummer Dirk Verbeuren. "Such an extraordinarily generous donation from a renowned festival is just another example of the many ways that the metal community supports each other."

Hellfest's donation is just one part of a five-year partnership. Savage Lands will continue to host a booth on the festival grounds. This year, Bill Hudson (I Am Morbid), members of Dimmu Borgir and other metalheads stopped by their booth to learn more about the green zones, nature sanctuaries and other biodiversity preservation projects that they are building in Costa Rica. The non-profit has protected 60,000 square feet of rain forest using 100% of the royalties from their music.

"As a non-profit, we depend on the support of our listeners, other organizations and fellow artists", Sylvain says.

During Savage Land's performance at Hellfest, they were joined by many of their famous friends: Andreas Kisser (Sepultura), Shane Embury (Napalm Death), Billy Graziadei (Biohazard) Vincent Dennis (Body Count), Daniel de Jongh (Textures), Silje Wergeland (The Gathering),  Jesper Liveröd (Nasum), Alejandro Montoya (Cultura tres), Poun and Etienne Treton (Black Bomb A) and Chloe Trujilo. Alissa White-Gluz (Arch Enemy) and Sakis Tolis (Rotting Christ) also pledged their support via video. So did Maria Franz from Heilung, who are also partnering with Savage Lands. The Nordic collective are donating $1 for every ticket sold on their US tour to support the non-profit's reforestation efforts.

Some of those artists have already committed to work with Savage Lands on their upcoming album, which will be released by Season of Mist. In the meantime, Sylvain and Dirk are still looking for more festivals and other prominent members of the metal community to join the army of trees.

"Our goals are attainable" Sylvain says. "By converting the land that we purchase into nature sanctuaries, Savage Lands will help set a precedent for environmental activism. But we must act quickly. Ecosystems are still under attack. If we don't, then there won't be any wildlife left to save".

Just listening to their music helps support Savage Lands. 100% of their song royalties fund the non-profit’s preservation efforts in Costa Rica.

Donations can also be made here.

SEETHER Announces 'The Surface Seems So Far' Album, Shares New Single 'Judas Mind'

Rock music stalwarts SEETHER are set to unleash their ninth studio album, "The Surface Seems So Far", this fall, continuing their legacy as champions of raw emotion in a landscape dominated by fleeting trends and manufactured sounds. The first single off the unapologetically aggressive 11-track collection, due out September 20 via Fantasy Records, is the blistering album opener "Judas Mind".

"'Judas Mind' is a song about reaching an understanding that there are bad actors in our lives that are trying to force an outcome for us that we don't see as our destiny," shares SEETHER frontman and songwriter Shaun Morgan. "It's about rising up against people who have a vision for you that you don't share."

Known for their enduring anthems like "Broken", "Fake It" and "Words As Weapons", SEETHER returns with "The Surface Seems So Far", showcasing their trademark blend of aggression and introspection. The track list for the new album — the follow-up to 2020's "Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum", which boasted three No. 1 hits — sets the tone for an honest and exhilarating journey through themes of melancholy ("Regret"),self-reflection ("Same Mistakes"),and raw emotion ("Dead On The Vine"),with catchy hooks and driving bombast emphasizing its many twists and turns. Adding to SEETHER's impressive catalog, Morgan and his bandmates — Dale Stewart (bass),John Humphrey (drums) and Corey Lowery (guitar) — sound alternately confident and confessional, full of vitriol and vulnerability throughout "The Surface Seems So Far", which Morgan produced with veteran producer Matt Hyde (DEFTONES, SLAYER) as engineer and mixer.

SEETHER, known for their authentic and electrifying live show, will support the release of "The Surface Seems So Far" on the road this fall on a co-headlining tour with SKILLET. The 18-date outing launches September 17 in Asheville and will travel across the U.S. stopping in such cities as Baltimore, Boston, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Kansas City, St. Louis, Houston, Dallas, Albuquerque, Denver, Omaha, and more before wrapping October 20 in Minneapolis. SEETHER is also set to perform at Louder Than Life and Aftershock festivals during the fall tour.

With five gold and platinum albums and two dozen Billboard Rock Airplay Top 10 hits including 20 No. 1s at U.S. radio throughout a career spanning over two decades, SEETHER is as vibrant and relevant as ever. Hailing from South Africa, Shaun Morgan proudly draws inspiration from his grunge and hard rock roots, crafting a unique sonic identity that propelled the band's gold-certified American debut and continues to resonate deeply with fans worldwide. The rock quartet, who also founded the annual Rise Above Fest for nearly ten years to raise awareness for suicide prevention and mental illness, remains a beacon of integrity on "The Surface Seems So Far", which promises to captivate both loyal fans and newcomers alike with its blend of memorable hooks, driving rhythms, and unapologetic rock spirit.

"The Surface Seems So Far" track listing

01. Judas Mind
02. Illusion
03. Beneath The Veil
04. Semblance Of Me
05. Walls Come Down
06. Try To Heal
07. Paint The World
08. Same Mistakes
09. Lost All Control
10. Dead On The Vine
11. Regret

This past May, Morgan explained to Ronni Hunter and Lewis of the 99.7 The Blitz radio station why he and his SEETHER bandmates weren't ready to perform any of the material from their follow-up to the "Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum" album. He said: "We live in such a horribly overconnected world that even the smallest things that make life slightly more exciting, even for us, I think it's cool. So, if we played [the first single] live, it would be all over the Internet by the next day, and then it kind of blows the surprise. And maybe we should, so we don't talk it up too much. And [people will be], like, 'Oh, this is what it was about.' But I think anticipation is a good thing.

"We finished this in January, we mastered it in the beginning of February, so we've been sitting with us for a long time too," he explained. "So we're also excited to get out and play it. But, again, I think anticipation is not to be underestimated as far as just how much it can mean when you finally get to the day… You used to wait for album releases, like, 'Oh, my God. Finally we can go to the store and we can buy the album. We can go home. We can read the lyrics,' all those kinds of things. Those don't exist anymore. More often than not, albums just kind of arrive and [you'll] be, like, 'Oh, they have a new album? I had no idea.' And that's kind of a sad world. We used to all line up around the block to go get a new album when it came out, so any bit of anticipation we can [build is what we intend to do]."

Asked if there is an increased amount of pressure every time he and his SEETHER bandmates go into writing a new album, Shaun said: "The idea is not to put any pressure on yourself with a deadline. And when it's ready, it'll be ready and you'll know. So if you had a deadline, you'd panic and you'd write stuff for the sake of writing it. But I think, at the end of the day, as long as you understand that once it's finished, it'll present itself as finished, and then you can go, 'Okay, it's finished,' and you can move on. But, having said that, then you get into recording, and you're done recording, and you're, like, 'Ah, I should've changed that,' and now it's too late. You can't change those words anymore. So it's always evolving, and it's always a process. But I think, as far as from, 'All right, we're done with that tour. Let's take a couple months off, and then we'll start again.' It's always a thing of, like, 'All right, well, let's see what happens.' And the first three months might be garbage, but at least it's starting to get the gears moving again. And then eventually there's a stride that you find yourself in. And then, again, it'll complete itself and you'll know when it's done. And then it's, like, 'Hey guys, label guys, we've got this album for you.' And, thankfully, they're not a very intrusive A&R company; they pretty much leave us to our own devices.
