RYAN ADAMS Releases Cover Of CORROSION OF CONFORMITY's 'Clean My Wounds'; PEPPER KEENAN Reacts

Singer-songwriter Ryan Adams performed a stripped-down cover version of CORROSION OF CONFORMITY's "Clean My Wounds" on June 21 at Meymandi Concert Hall in the band's original hometown of Raleigh, North Carolina. You can now hear his rendition in the YouTube clip below.

"Clean My Wounds" was released as the third single from CORROSION OF CONFORMITY's fourth studio album, 1994's "Deliverance". Written by lead vocalist/guitarist Pepper Keenan, "Clean My Wounds" was a hit on rock radio, peaking at No. 19 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart, the band's highest-charting single along with "Albatross" (which also peaked at No. 19).

A North Carolina native who grew up on punk rock and heavy metal, Adams told BLABBERMOUTH.NET about his decision to cover the track: "Some folks have sports teams they follow for life, through thick or thin. For me that's C.O.C. In memory of Pepper's father passing, I covered 'Clean My Wounds' in NOLA and the Carolinas. They mean more to me than I could ever say. Most C.O.C. fans feel that same way. C.O.C. are always and will aways be my team and I'll fly the flag forever."

Pepper was equally full of praise for Adams, saying: "I've been a friend and fan of Ryan's music and skills for a very long time. C.O.C. and Ryan sharpened our teeth in the same neck of the woods in the Old North State as youngsters. I consider Ryan to be one of the best singer /songwriters out there. Knew it back then, still do. To hear him do his thing to one of our songs in such a beautiful and haunting way, as well as dedicating it to my father, was quite moving to say the least. Honestly stopped me dead in my tracks. Very special on many levels and emotions. Thank you for that brother. Love and respect always."

Jerry Pepper Keenan (pictured below) passed away on June 7 at the age of 83.

Pepper joined CORROSION OF CONFORMITY in 1990, but he did not become the band's lead singer until the recording of the aforementioned "Deliverance".

On his current tour, Adams is playing his albums "Love Is Hell" and "Self-Titled" in celebration of their respective 10th and 20th anniversaries. He is also performing classics and fan favorites.

Adams is a seven-time Grammy-nominated artist with 22 studio albums to his name. He has produced albums for musicians such as Willie Nelson, Jesse Malin and Jenny Lewis. Adams has also collaborated with a number of other artists, including WEEZER, FALL OUT BOY and AMERICA.

Born in Jacksonville, North Carolina, Adams began his music career in local bands before gaining prominence with the popular country group WHISKEYTOWN in the mid-1990s, releasing several critically acclaimed albums, including "Faithless Street" (1995) and "Strangers Almanac" (1997). He released his debut solo album, "Heartbreaker", in 2000, receiving widespread acclaim with songs like "Oh My Sweet Carolina" and "Come Pick Me Up".

Adams has had a very public love affair with metal over the past decade and a half. He has hosted a mock cable access show called "Night Sweats" and even attended Ronnie James Dio's funeral. He had also previously performed stripped-down versions of IRON MAIDEN's "Wasted Years", RATT's "Round And Round" and DIO's "Holy Diver".

Back in 2010, Adams released what was described at the time as a "first fully realized sci-fi metal concept album" called "Orion" that was recorded in 2006 and featured artwork by Michel "Away" Langevin from Canadian metal innovators VOIVOD.

Report: JETHRO TULL Album Jumps Nearly 29,000% In Sales

After a nearly 20-year-long break from releasing albums, Jethro Tull reunited and began making music again several years ago, reports Forbes. In addition to new studio albums, the rock group has also continued to score wins on the charts with re-releases, deluxe editions, live recordings, and more. It’s clear that the band still claims a sizeable fan base in the US, as they have been racking up one bestseller after another for the past several years, including a new one in 2024.

Jethro Tull is back on the "Top Album Sales" chart this week. The rockers return to Billboard’s list of the bestselling full-lengths and EPs in the nation with Jethro Tull Live: Bursting Out, which launches at #33.

In the past tracking week, Luminate reports that Jethro Tull Live: Bursting Out sold just under 3,200 copies. That’s up significantly from the period before when the title barely sold anything - though that’s not surprising for a decades-old title.

Jethro Tull Live: Bursting Out sold just over single-digit copies in late June. In one seven-day period, the live recording’s sales grew by just under 29,000%, as interest in the title soared thanks to a special drop from the group.

“Hey, but someone has to try oddball things, don’t they? Might as well be me...” - Ian Anderson

Ian Anderson’s mind as a listener, which would mature into a lifetime of format-blurring creative ingenuity, was opened when he was a mere six-year-old. By then, already relocated with his family from his birthplace in Dunfermline to Edinburgh, he heard an old family 78 rpm disc of Glenn Miller and his Orchestra's irresistible gem of 1939, In The Mood.

“My father had a few treasured wartime records, mostly big-band stuff,” he told Prog magazine. “I remember having an epiphany, because ‘In The Mood’ introduces you to the elements of blues, effectively. That was my first moment of thinking: ‘Hmm, this music is something special.’”

A word from Ian Anderson on 8314 Boxed:

“Since 1983, I have made a few solo albums, not as dissatisfaction with fellow musicians or the group identity but usually just to try something a bit different, whether sonically, stylistically or in terms of instrumental line-up. These records all stand out for me as being quite different from each other and in some ways demonstrate a broader depth of my songwriting. The flute instrumental Divinities record is one of my favourites to this day.”

AC/DC's 'Back In Black' Certified 26 Times Platinum In U.S.

On July 8, 2024, AC/DC's 1980 breakthrough album "Back In Black"was certified by the Recording Industry Association Of America for U.S. shipments of 26 million copies.

"Back In Black" first went platinum in October 1980 and had previously been certified 25 times platinum in December 2019. At the time, the RIAA listed "Back In Black" as the fourth biggest-selling album of all time.

Several other AC/DC albums and singles were newly certified by the RIAA on July 8, 2024. The full list is as follows:

AC/DC's newly RIAA-certified albums

* "The Razors Edge" (six times platinum)
* "Live" (four times platinum)
* "High Voltage" (four times platinum)
* "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" (seven times platinum)
* "Highway To Hell" (eight multi-platinum)
* "Live - Collector's Edition" (four times platinum)
* "Back In Black" (26 times platinum)

AC/DC's newly RIAA-certified singles

* "It's A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock N'' Roll)" (platinum)
* "You Shook Me All Night Long" (six times platinum)
* "Back In Black" (seven times platinum)
* "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" (double platinum)
* "Shoot To Thrill" (double platinum)
* "Thunderstruck" (diamond)
* "Highway To Hell" (six times platinum)
* "T.N.T." (triple platinum)
* "Hells Bells" (triple platinum)

On July 25, 1980, AC/DC released "Back In Black" in the U.S., followed by the album's U.K. release on July 31. It was the band's first album without lead singer Bon Scott, who had died a few months earlier after passing out and choking on his own vomit following a long night of drinking.

The group quickly decided to press on and hired Brian Johnson from the band GEORDIE to take over on vocals, and they headed to the Bahamas for about six weeks to do the album. AC/DC had made some serious headway in America before Scott's death, but no one knew how "Back In Black" would be received.

Johnson told The Pulse of Radio that he didn't have a clue how successful "Back In Black" would turn out to be. "I'd just melted me brain in there, and I didn't know if it was good or bad," he said. "That was the first time I'd been in the Bahamas, anyway, or near America, you know, and you (have to) remember, I was just fascinated by the whole culture and all, and I had no idea what the hell I was doing! And (laughs) lucky, really — I was a bit lucky, I think."

"Back In Black" included the singles "You Shook Me All Night Long", which peaked at No. 35 on the Billboard Hot 100, and "Back In Black", which peaked at No. 37.

Despite its massive success, it never got higher than No. 4 on the album charts. The band's next album, "For Those About To Rock", reached No. 1.

"Back In Black" was produced by Robert "Mutt" Lange, who went on to produce DEF LEPPARD, FOREIGNER, THE CARS, and BRYAN ADAMS.

In 2012, "Back In Black" was added to The Recording Academy's legendary Grammy Hall Of Fame collection.

Earlier this year, LYNCH MOB announced "The Final Ride", a farewell tour celebrating the band's 35-year legacy. The tour will conclude in March of 2025 on the Monsters Of Rock cruise.

George Lynch stated: "After 35 years since the inception of LYNCH MOB, I feel the time is right to let this chapter of my musical life fade off into the sunset. I feel the timing is right because of the solidarity and camaraderie of our current lineup. It ensures that we're leaving a powerful legacy with no regrets.

"Jimmy D'Anda has been my partner and brother for many decades. Jaron Gulino feels like he was designed in a laboratory to be the perfect bassist for this band. Gabriel Colón defies every lead singer stereotype by being one of the sweetest, kindest and most humble lead singer I've ever worked with, yet goes out every night and morphs into a stage stalking, golden-throated lord. We laugh hard, work hard, and know we can step on to any stage at any time and own it. With our latest record. I feel at peace knowing that we've documented the final chapter in the 35-year legacy of the MOB."

"There's been so many iterations of LYNCH MOB since the first lineup in 1989 of Oni Logan, Mick Brown, Anthony Esposito and myself. Putting LYNCH MOB together was just an extension of what I'd always strived for in a band: the best possible musicians, chemistry, and brotherhood. My bands have not only been my best friends, but also family. When we come up together and work hard and struggle together, we create a bond that lasts a lifetime. I think that's the thing I love the most about my musical journey... creating music in the studio, stepping on stage, and sharing that bond with my friends through music. Thank you to everyone who has been in my band. I really feel it's ours."

LYNCH MOB was formed in 1989 after Lynch parted ways with his former band DOKKEN. Their debut release, "Wicked Sensation", was met with critical and fan acclaim and went on to be certified gold in sales by the RIAA. The band would continue on through the years with a cast of talented players joining Lynch throughout their musical journey over the course of six more studio albums.

Released on October 20, 2023, "Babylon" is LYNCH MOB's eighth studio album overall and the first since 2017's "The Brotherhood".

LYNCH MOB is:

Gabriel Colón: Vocals
George Lynch: Guitars
Jimmy D'Anda: Drums
Jaron Gulino: Bass

New Jersey's own Jaron Gulino brings the East Coast attitude and energy to LYNCH MOB. He has prospered in a long career as the bassist in a variety of bands, most notably post-grunge rock band TANTRIC. Gulino achieved chart topping success with multiple releases from TANTRIC, as well as performing on many high-profile tours and events with numerous other acts. He is also currently the bassist for Philadelphia hard rockers HEAVENS EDGE.

His bandmate and partner in crime in the rhythm section is none other than original BULLETBOYS drummer Jimmy D'Anda, who is known for his ability to bring a fantastic element of groove while maintaining the powerful hard rock vibe of LYNCH MOB.

Gabriel Colón is a Puerto Rican singer who started his career with a band called FAST TAKER. Since then, he has showcased his wide range of vocal talent with many rock acts including GOTHIC KNIGHTS, CULPRIT, WHITE WIZZARD and Rowan Robertson. Gabriel is a true talent and a great fit to fill the shoes of his extremely talented predecessors in LYNCH MOB.

For much of 2021 and 2022, George had played dates around the U.S. under the name ELECTRIC FREEDOM, which he previously said was the new name of his "touring entity" after deciding to retire the LYNCH MOB band name in 2020. However, more than a year and a half ago, it was reported that Lynch was once again playing shows under the LYNCH MOB moniker.

In August 2020, Lynch announced that he was ending LYNCH MOB due to the racial insensitivity of the moniker, saying he would no longer record or perform under that name.

DESTRUCTION Releases Cover Of ACCEPT's 'Fast As A Shark'

German thrash metal veterans DESTRUCTION have released a cover version of ACCEPT's classic song "Fast As A Shark", alongside a new visualizer video. The song is featured on the two-track 12-inch vinyl in the very limited fan edition, "No Kings - No Masters".

DESTRUCTION bassist/vocalist Schmier states about "Fast As A Shark": "When this song came out in 1982, it changed our world. There it was: The first German speed metal anthem and what an intense harmony solo!!!!

"I still love this track like on the first day I heard it, so to finally cover it was a manifested desire. We did it the DESTRUCTION way, 'cause the original will always be the best version! This is a tribute to one of the originators of heavy music and shows how important this tune was for the whole metal world! Enjoy!"

"No Kings - No Masters" track listing:

01. No Kings - No Masters
02. Fast As A Shark (ACCEPT cover)

Last month, DESTRUCTION released the official music video for "No Kings - No Masters".

DESTRUCTION's massive career has seen many successes, with the band hitting stages at the world’s biggest festivals around the world like Hellfest, Wacken Open Air, Graspop Metal Meeting and México Metal Fest. They are more than prepared for their next milestones. Stay tuned for more news about an upcoming album, due in early 2025.

DESTRUCTION, known as one of the "Teutonic Four", alongside KREATOR, SODOM and TANKARD, will be reunited with the other three acts at this's "Klash Of The Ruhrpott" concert on July 20 — a show that promises to celebrate thrash metal in its purest form and solidify their legacy in the genre. Don't miss out on this event promising to become a legend and the rare occasion to witness the "Teutonic Four" united.

Schmier stated about "No Kings - No Masters": "The new single starts the countdown for the new album a bit early, but we wanted to show our fans that we are working on a kick-ass new record. Yes, it will be worth the wait.

"'No Kings - No Masters' is a razor-sharp riff monster with tons of crushing guitars and neck-breaking speed! Next-level DESTRUCTION!!!

"We hope this beast will keep you excited for the new output in early 2025. PLAY IT LOUD!!!"

In a January 2023 interview with Felipe Canales of Chile's iRock, Schmier was asked if he and his DESTRUCTION bandmates have ever considered changing their sound in order to reach a wider audience. He responded: "In Germany, we say, 'Don't change your winning recipe. Stick to the guns. Stick to what you can do best.' And for me, what I can do best is playing thrash metal. Every album we do sounds a little bit different, but it always will sound like DESTRUCTION.

"When you get older, it's very easy to slow down," Schmier explained. "A lot of musicians, when they [get] older, they wanna slow down; they wanna play blues; they wanna play more mellow music. For me, that's never been the case. I think the older you [get], the more you go crazy about it. You wanna still show the young kids how it's done. When we go out there to the festivals, we compete… To all those young bands, I could be [their] father, so I have to be the role model. So that's how I see it. Slowing down and changing something is not what we do."

As for whether it's harder for him to play physically challenging music as he gets older, Schmier said: "It's like in football — the old, experienced player, he has the feel for it. The young player runs more and runs faster. The old player has the eye and the brain. And it's the same in music. Of course I have to train harder to go on stage, but my experience of my age is great because I have better voice control. I know more what I want. I know what I don't want and where the band belongs. So this experience of a certain 40 years in the music business is, of course, a great one."

DESTRUCTION's latest studio album, "Diabolical", came out in April 2022 via Napalm Records.

In August 2021, DESTRUCTION officially parted ways with founding guitarist Michael "Mike" Sifringer and replaced him with Martin Furia. The Argentinian-born, Belgian-based Furia is best known for his work as sound engineer and producer for such bands as NERVOSA and EVIL INVADERS.

Sifringer was the only member of DESTRUCTION to have remained constant throughout the band's career. Schmier appeared on DESTRUCTION's first three albums before exiting the band and being replaced by POLTERGEIST vocalist André Grieder. André's sole recorded appearance with DESTRUCTION was on the "Cracked Brain" album, which came out in 1990. Schmier rejoined DESTRUCTION in 1999.

DESTRUCTION 2024 is:

Schmier - Bass, Vocals
Martin Furia - Guitars
Randy Black - Drums
Damir Eskić - Guitars

Exclusive: SWAGGERMOUTH Premieres “Turnin’ On A Dime” Music Video

Las Vegas-based heavy rock outfit Swaggermouth will release their debut album Never Shut Up September 18 via Rock Avenue Records USA. The album features Chris Slade (AC/DC) on drums, who also co-wrote the album alongside the band’s frontman Jason Ebs (who’s previously toured as a vocalist and guitarist with Peter Criss) and frontwoman Janea Chadwick Ebs (Joe Cocker). Pre-save Never Shut Up here.

BraveWords is premiering the music video for new track “Turnin’ On A Dime”. The single is out tomorrow, June 10. Pre-save “Turnin’ On A Dime” here.

Jason Ebs on the track: “The premise of ‘Turnin' On A Dime’ has a dark twist to it, with a warning to watch your back and protect those that you care about, as life is full of people trying to get what they want at your expense. We understand that we as people are looking to get ahead in life, but it shouldn't be at the cost of others. ‘Not at my expense’ is one of my favorite quotes and is a mantra by which we live. Our belief is that if you're lucky enough to have a tribe of trustworthy people around you, then we all need to watch each other's backs in life.  To me, that's what a band is all about -- it's an extended musical family of people creating & watching out for each other as we tour through life. I learned this early on in my career while singing for Peter Criss on the 'Bad Boys Tours'.  When we'd get ready for the road, he'd say ‘Ok boys, we're going to battle so we need to all look out for each other.’ So, that's what we did, and the philosophy stuck.”

On the video’s concept Jason shares: “In the video, there is a Death-masked Man that symbolizes a dark force that lurks among our tribe, shaking hands while secretly brandishing a dagger. This entity represents those who smile upon you while preparing to stab you in the back to get what they desire. There's a scene where Janea has my back, saving me from the creature who administers poison, representing what we do for the people that we care about on a daily basis.  I think that we can all relate to somebody from our inner circle turning against us at some point in our lives. With friends like that, who needs enemies?  Mean people suck...”

Swaggermouth will perform at Sturgis Rally 2024 on August 7 and August 8 at Kickstands in Sturgis, SD. Entry is FREE!

FORBIDDEN Parts Ways With Guitarist STEVE SMYTH, Recruits VOIVOD's DANIEL MONGRAIN

Reactivated San Francisco Bay Area thrash metal veterans FORBIDDEN have parted ways with guitarist Steve Smyth. Stepping in for Smyth as his temporary replacement for FORBIDDEN's next batch of European dates in August will be VOIVOD's Daniel Mongrain.

Steve said in a statement: "Hey everybody, I've said this before in my career, but all things do reach their end at some point. As hard as this is to write this, I've decided it's time to part ways with FORBIDDEN, and return to my band ONE MACHINE as priority, along with other projects on the horizon, and of course session work, and teaching music as always.

"FORBIDDEN was always a place I considered home, from the very first gig I played with the guys, the Thrash Of The Titans festival, back in 2001, touring across 2009/2010 with Russ [Anderson, vocals] and Mark [Hernandez, drums], writing and releasing the 'Omega Wave' album, the touring that followed 2010-2012, and the last year. It's a home I'll miss, but the memories will remain.

"ONE MACHINE is my own home that I've built myself, from before, and after my first stint with FORBIDDEN, from 2009-2012. We are preparing to release a new EP, with touring starting up in September across Europe.

"Prior to rejoining FORBIDDEN, I declared my intention to move between FORBIDDEN and ONE MACHINE, in between schedules. It now appears those schedules are conflicting.

"I'd like to thank YOU the fans for all of your support over the years! I couldn't do ANY of this without you! Craig [Locicero, guitar] and Matt [Camacho, bass] especially for welcoming me back to FORBIDDEN!

"To new additions Chris [Kontos, drums] and Norman [Skinner, vocals], Tim Healy, the crew, every promoter and agent, thank you for making the last year of music and travelling the world happen!

"I wish FORBIDDEN all the best for the future, and all it may bring!"

The remaining members of FORBIDDEN added in a separate statement: "We understand and accept Steve's decision to walk away for his own personal reasons and to finish what he started with ONE MACHINE.

"Steve had been by our side creating and playing music from the end of 2008-2012 and for the rebirth in 2023. He contributed much greatness along the way. We understand his situation better than most people possibly could.

"We all wish Steve the very best and success with ONE MACHINE. His Baby.

"Much love, respect and gratitude for the years Steve spent with FORBIDDEN will always endure.

"With Steve Smyth stepping away, FORBIDDEN intends on not missing a beat. Daniel Mongrain from VOIVOD will be stepping in for our next batch of European dates upcoming in August.

"Daniel is an astonishing & accomplished guitarist. His work in MARTYR & VOIVOD is otherworldly! We are very happy to have him aboard for these dates. Daniel will be a great addition for the gigs and we must thank the guys in VOIVOD for letting us borrow him.

"See you in Europe soon!"

Mongrain said: "It's a great honor for me to join FORBIDDEN this summer in Europe! As a fan from the early days, I'm grateful for the opportunity and will do my best to pay respect to all the amazing talented guitar player who played in the band, Glen Alvelais, Tim Calvert (RIP),and Steve Smyth. See you soon!"

The most recent FORBIDDEN lineup made its live debut at a "secret" show in July 2023 at Baltic Kiss in Richmond, California under the TWISTED INTO EVIL banner.

Originally founded in 1985 as FORBIDDEN EVIL by Anderson, guitarists Locicero and Robb Flynn, bassist John Tegio and drummer Jim Pittman, the quintet started playing house parties and Bay Area clubs such as the legendary Ruthie's Inn soon after. After a couple of lineup changes (Paul Bostaph on drums and Matt Camacho on bass) in '86, the band quickly rose through the ranks of Bay Area thrash to gain a massive following and worldwide notoriety. In 1986, the band added Glen Alvelais as the second guitarist. It was this lineup that cemented itself into the Bay Area scene and soon after recorded 1988 release "Forbidden Evil" for Combat Records, changing the band's name to simply FORBIDDEN. In May of '89 while on a European tour with SACRED REICH, FORBIDDEN made their first appearance at the legendary Dynamo Open Air in Eindhoven, Netherlands. It was here that FORBIDDEN made their European mark and recorded the "Raw Evil" EP. The band returned Stateside and replaced Alvelais with Tim Calvert. Calvert was a missing ingredient that brought the band closer together as a team. They continued to tour the U.S. first with EXODUS and then again with SACRED REICH with Calvert on second guitar. The band went on to release "Twisted Into Form" in 1990, "Distortion" in 1994 and "Green" in 1996. However, the band, having gone though many lineup changes, disbanded in 1997.

In 2008 Craig being inspired at a screening of the movie "Get Thrashed", called the other members of the band and suggested getting back on stage to see if they could reignite the FORBIDDEN machine. With Anderson, Locicero, Camacho back in the mix along with new additions Glen Alvelais and Gene Hoglan they played two sold-out DEATH ANGEL shows in San Francisco. Steve Smyth came into the mix in place of Alvelais and Mark Hernandez took Hoglan's place. The band then released "Omega Wave", the fifth in the catalog and went on a U.S. tour with OVERKILL. European festivals were next but afterwards Hernandez had to walk away due to personal reasons leading to a tour cancelation. Sasha Horn was the answer to fill the drummer's spot.

After playing "Bonded By Baloff" with EXODUS and one Bay Area show, FORBIDDEN embarked for Chile to play the Metal Fest in Santiago. It was on this flight back home that Russ informed the band that he couldn't tour anymore because of the physical toll it was taking on him. With that, the band dissolved once again for 11 years.

When FORBIDDEN's "rebirth" was first announced in April 2023, Locicero said in a statement: "First off, I did NOT see this coming. When FORBIDDEN quietly disbanded the second time in 2012, I figured it was over. While I always apply the 'never say never' mantra to my life, Russ made it clear that he was completely finished with touring. Germany's SERVANT Set September Release Date For New Album, Death Devil Magick; Reveal First Track "Litany"

AOP Records has announced September 20th as the international release date of the third album from Germany's Servant, Death Devil Magick, on CD and vinyl LP formats.

German black metal band Servant have been celebrating their melodic-yet-furious black metal across the underground and beyond since 2021. Their two well-received full-lengths, 2021's Blessed By The Light Of A Thousand Stars, and last year's Aetas Ascensus, shook ground within the metal scene. Now, Servant are set to release their third full-length, Death Devil Magick, via new label home AOP Records.

Death Devil Magick was written, recorded, mixed, and mastered between October 2023 and May 2024. Without lacking in their musical trademarks, Servant continue to evolve on their new record. Melodic guitars combine with furious drums, and powerful basslines go with keys and mighty grooves. On Death Devil Magick, the vocals are clearer than on the previous two albums, giving the words the required power in meaning. All this is put in a powerful soundscape which is aggressive yet very dynamic and tidied up.

The lyrical topics are inspired by poets and philosophers like Charles Baudelaire and Friedrich Nietzsche, but also paintings by Franz von Stuck from the era of symbolism, for example, can be mentioned here. The lyrics discuss conflicts of emotions, beliefs, addiction, and depths of human nature. Death Devil Magick invites the listener to step into the gallery of nine microcosms and witness lust, despair, magick, and ecstasy.

Death Devil Magick artwork, courtesy of Misanthropic Art Illustrations, and tracklisting are as follows:

"Void"
"Temple"
"Sin"
"Devil"
"Hope"
"Fury"
"Death"
"Litany"
"Magick"

Listen to "Litany" now:

On the live front, Servant are going to tour Europe as part of the Scherbentour 2024 together with labelmates Ellende and Groza to spread magick, lust, and ecstasy. Dates follow below.

MARTY FRIEDMAN Hasn't Listened To MEGADETH's 'Risk' Album Since It Was Recorded

Former MEGADETH guitarist Marty Friedman has once again said that he and his then-bandmates did "the best" they could while making the "Risk" album, saying that the controversial record was "exactly where we were as a band at that time."

Issued in 1999, "Risk" received a mixed response from critics and alienated hardcore MEGADETH fans due to its departure from the band's heavy thrash metal roots to a more commercial, pop rock sound. The album debuted at No. 16 on the Billboard chart and was later certified gold for selling half a million copies in the United States.

In a new interview with Whiplash.net journalists Gustavo Maiato and Mateus Ribeiro, Friedman was asked how he looks back on "Risk" 25 years after its release. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I haven't heard it since back then. I don't think it was much of a risk, actually. And I just remember we did the best we could. And it's exactly where we were as a band at that time. And that's all any album is, really. An album is like a yearbook in school or in high school or college or whatever. An album is a yearbook of that period of time. So you can't really go back and say, 'Oh, this sucks' or 'We didn't mean to do that' or 'It was not a good idea,' or whatever, you can't go back and say that, because it is what it is and it was what it was. At the time, we believed in it and we did the best we could and that's all I can say about any album, really. It's the same answer for any album."

Friedman previously discussed "Risk" I na December 2018 interview with SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk". At the time, he said: "Well, I think anything that needed to be said from me about that was probably said at the time. I haven't even thought about that since then, so I couldn't give you an intelligent answer. I'm barely thinking about what I did yesterday, much less back then."

He continued: "I'm sure whatever it was at the time that it happened, everybody involved with it was doing the best that they possibly could — I'm sure of that — because that is something that's happened on every record before that and every record since that and every record I'm doing now.

"When you're doing it, you're doing the absolute best that you can. And pretty much if you look at any press of any record, when it comes out, what the people are saying right then, right at that time, that's what it is. And then, depending on the results of that, people's stories change, but at the time, you're doing the best that… You really, really, really believe in that — everybody believes in it — and then that's it. So I definitely wouldn't even begin to think of whatever specifics were going on back then — it's just the farthest thing from my mind — but I can assure you that anything was done with the best of intentions and the hardest work. And everybody was just trying to do their best."

Six years ago, MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine said that "Risk" was the result of him "capitulating" to Friedman's "desires to be more of an alternative band." He told SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation LA Invasion: Live From The Rainbow Bar & Grill": "We kept slowing down and slowing down and slowing down. If that record would have been called THE DAVE MUSTAINE PROJECT and not MEGADETH, I think it would have been successful. People wanted a MEGADETH record. They didn't wanna see Dave bending over backwards to keep Marty Friedman happy, 'cause Marty wanted us to sound like fucking DISHWALLA."

Four years ago, Friedman admitted that money was a major motivator for him when he was approached almost a decade ago about taking part in a reunion of MEGADETH's "Rust In Peace" lineup.

Friedman had met with guitarist/vocalist Dave Mustaine and then-bassist David Ellefson at the 2015 NAMM show in Anaheim, California to discuss the reunion, which would have seen him and drummer Nick Menza back in the mix.

Friedman opened up about his reasons for turning down the MEGADETH reunion in Mustaine's latest book, "Rust In Peace: The Inside Story Of The Megadeth Masterpiece", which details the making of the iconic record "Rust In Peace".

"My main thing was I'd be happy to do it, but I'm not going to take less money than I'm already making to do it," Marty said in part.

"I'd been in Japan for more than ten years cultivating a career with solid rewards. I was making money not only for myself but also for my management and staff. My manager has been with me fifteen years.

"Everything was sound and solid professionally, and when the offer came up to all of a sudden join MEGADETH again, as long as I would not be making less money, I was ready to go," he said. "But I was certainly not going to take a loss to join a band that, frankly, at that point, didn't seem like they had too much to offer musically. A couple of members of the band had recently quit, and musically I hadn't heard anything that they've done in a long time. I didn't know about how relevant they continued to be in the music business. It wasn't like MEGADETH was on the tip of people's tongues, at least not in Japan. I had reached the point where people stopped immediately connecting me to MEGADETH and were talking about the things that I had done in Japan."

According to Friedman, part of the reason he turned down the MEGADETH reunion is the fact that the group is largely seen as Mustaine's solo project, with members coming and going every couple of albums.

"Had it been more of a band situation and not such a one-man, Dave Mustaine-main-man party, I might have considered doing it for a little less," Marty said. "But, at the end of the day, MEGADETH is so much Mustaine because that's the way he engineered it. I didn't feel that kind of camaraderie, the four-man diamond, THE BEATLES, KISS, METALLICA. I felt like I would be going out there and tour and it was going to be Mustaine's big success. If I'm going to do that, I'm certainly not going to lose money to do that; I was doing great on my own in Japan."

Mustaine told Loudwire that he was put off by Friedman's financial demands when the topic of a "Rust In Peace" reunion was broached.

"Marty has a really successful career in Japan where he makes quite a lot of money," Dave said. "And this is the part where I thought it was a little weird, where he said he said that he has to pay all his team while he's gone instead of just himself. 'Cause I thought we'll pay you what you're making so that's switching horses in the middle of the river — it's no big deal unless you fall off. And then when we found out that he wanted to sell his merch, his this, his that, his this, his that, then he wanted this crazy amount of money and he wanted to fly first class everywhere. I said to our management, 'I can't deal with this.'"

In a 2016 interview with the "Eddie Trunk Podcast", Mustaine confirmed that MEGADETH didn't hold any rehearsals with Friedman while attempting a reunion of the "Rust In Peace" lineup.

"Marty had sent some e-mails saying, 'Oh, man, you know, the fans have this self-inflated importance of 'Rust In Peace' beyond what it really is. And I was, like, 'Huh?'" Dave said. 'So I didn't know if that was a backhand to the face of the fans or not, but he had basically said that if we were gonna do anything, it had to be better than 'Rust In Peace'. And he sent me over some links to some songs that he thought should be the direction that we were going in, and one of it was this J-Pop band with some Japanese girl singing, and I was, like, 'Uh-uh. This ain't gonna work.' More power to [Marty for being into that stuff]. Do what you want, Marty. He's a great guitar player. But I'm not gonna sing like a Japanese girl."

Friedman reunited with MEGADETH twice last year: first during the band's gig at Tokyo, Japan's famed Budokan in February 2023 and then at the Wacken Open Air festival in Wacken, Germany in August 2023.

SYNLAKROSS Release "Bunnies And Bows" Single And Music Video

SynlakrosS has released their new single/music video, “Bunnies And Bows”, included in their new album, Mental Parasites, that will be released on October 3.

It’s a sharp and forceful song that hasn’t left anyone indifferent. Lyrics are full of protest and irony and were designed to empower those people who suffer or have suffered discrimination, oppression or harassment by a sexist and toxic figure. This is a problem that is still very current and that not only affects women.

It’s a very personal lyric where Patricia, singer of SynlakrosS, speaks from her experience, while the music, full of energy, charges your inner batteries. A real banger. Find the video below.

Mental Parasites is the fifth full-length album of the band's career and this is what they have said about it: "The songs on this album are inspired by personality disorders, as well as thoughts and attitudes that parasitize our mind, turning it into a hostile place and making us live in hell. They invite self-reflection in an entertaining way. Totally SynlakrosS dark mojo!"

Songs to appear on the album include (listed alphabetically, not final tracklisting):

"Bunnies And Bows"
"Cherry On Top"
"Dickhead"
"Drama Queen"
"Freak"
"Mental Breakdown"
"Paranoid"
"Popcorn"
"Razor Blade"

"Bunnies And Bows" video:

The band add: "We have played, experimented and tried new things on this album. Some things are going to surprise you! It has been a lot of fun and we are convinced that it is our best album so far! It has been produced by Facundo Novo who has done a spectacular job! Briliant! Album cover by our singer Patricia Pons.”

KRILLOAN To Release Return Of The Heralds Album In September

Krilloan will release their new album, Return Of The Heralds, on September 20 via Scarlet Records.

Following the success of the blazing debut album Emperor Rising, Return Of The Heralds delivers yet more fast melodic tunes living and prospering in the realm of traditional power-speed metal.

The new Krilloan record is once again a heartfelt homage to the "good ol' times" of classic heavy metal and sword & sorcery entertainment that shaped them. Epic and fierce battle hymns about Conan the Barbarian, Elric of Melniboné, "Warhammer 40.000" and those never-ending days spent in a world beyond our own: this is the conceptual foundation of the Swedish band led by guitarist Klas Holmgren, with a clear focus on a well-crafted and always well-balanced songwriting as well.

Return Of The Heralds will be released in the following formats:

- digipack CD
- vinyl LP
- digital

Tracklisting:

"Atlantean Sword"
"Kings Of The Iron Hill" (featuring Battle Born's Jack Reynolds & Tom O´Dell)
"Blood & Fire (Born On A Battlefield)"
"Hammer Of Wrath"
"Avenging Son"
"The Oathpact"
"Return Of The Heralds" (featuring Evermores' Johan Haraldsson & Johan Karlsson)
"The Kingkillers Tale" (featuring Magnus Holmström, Swedish folk master and HammerFall live guest)
"We Burn"
"Beyond The Gates"

Lineup:

Alex VanTrue - vocals
Klas Holmgren - guitar
Steve Brockmann - guitar

MATTHIAS JABS On Secret To SCORPIONS' Longevity: 'We Don't Know When To Finish'

In a recent interview with Graspop Metal Meeting, SCORPIONS guitarist Matthias Jabs was asked about the secret to the band's longevity. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Uh, we don't know when to finish. No, we tried. In 2010, we announced the final tour, which lasted only two and a half years. And then, you know, nobody wanted to let us go, which is nice. All the promoters from around the world said, 'You can't leave us now.' And the fans especially said, 'SCORPIONS, don't stop.' And that's 12 years ago [since the completion of the 'final' tour]. And we have so much fun doing what we are doing. And this year is the 'Love At First Sting' anniversary tour, a great new show. And then we are looking forward to next year where we are planning a few things like the big birthday parties with SCORPIONS and friends, but nothing definite yet."

Jabs also talked about the importance of making new music for a band like SCORPIONS, which released its latest studio album, "Rock Believer", in 2022. He said: "It's always to have good song material when you go out on the road, because, of course, we have to play the hits again and again and again; we couldn't do it without it. But for us it's nice, and I think for the fans too, to hear one or the other new songs. The 'Rock Believer' tour, we started with five or six new songs from that album. Now, since it's the 'Love At First Sting' anniversary tour, 40 years of 'Love At First Sting', we concentrate more on those songs and cut out a few of the 'Rock Believer' ones. But it's for us also — to keep being creative and play something that is new on stage."

During an April 2024 appearance on SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk", SCORPIONS guitarist Rudolf Schenker confirmed that there was no more talk of retirement within the band, as there was back in 2010 with what was purported to be a final album and a farewell tour that never quite took hold. He said: "You have to think about that what we didn't know when we made [that] farewell tour [almost 15 years ago], it was exactly the time when WhatsApp came up, when all this new technology [on the] Internet came, that people watching the SCORPIONS on WhatsApp and seeing young kids between 16 and 24 or whatever, [they were] finding [out about] the SCORPIONS. So, and what was happening on the final tour, on the tour, kids were in front of the stage. We said, 'What's happening here?' The older [fans] were up in the balcony or whatever, and we said, 'Hey, it's a complete new feeling on stage.' So then 'MTV Unplugged' came and then we said, 'Hey…' The chemistry was right, no question about this. That's a very important point, when the band has a great chemistry. And then you have fun when you go on the road."

Last September, Rudolf also seemingly dismissed any talk of possible retirement but acknowledged that SCORPIONS would not be able to continue indefinitely. The 75-year-old guitarist told Vikram Chandrasekar of Tales From The Road: "It's not a never-ending road. The road will be finished sooner or later; it's up to you and to our gods. But in 2025, that could be a great time for our 60th anniversary. 2025, it's the time when SCORPIONS is 60 years old. So, then, to celebrate 60 years of SCORPIONS could be a possibility, because I'm in contact with our very old drummer, who was playing on [SCORPIONS' 1972 debut album] 'Lonesome Crow', and the bass player, and use them also on stage to see the different kind of states we went through. Because we are very much connected still in all the different musicians, and that shows again, when we can make it, that music is always there for making friendships."

Back in May 2022, SCORPIONS singer Klaus Meine told Jorge Botas of Portugal's "Metal Global": "We scratched that word [retirement] out of our [vocabulary]. It's not there. We don't think about it and we don't talk about it and we take it as it comes.

"We're just growing older and we do what we do and we hope our fans enjoy it as much as we do," the now-76-year-old Klaus continued. "But who would have thought we're still around after celebrating 50 years of being recording artists — our first album came out in 1972 and now 'Rock Believer' looks like it hits the big time with the fans and so many positive reviews from all over the world. And after all these years, who would have thought? And it's a wonderful thing.

"But all we know is [that] the road ahead is way shorter than what's behind us," Meine added. "And we never take it for granted — we never take success for granted. We work hard on what we do because we still love it and we still enjoy it. But it's what it is. And I think every artist knows what I'm talking about, because to go out there, play a great show for the fans and not let 'em down, it takes a lot of preparation, takes a lot of work. And being the singer, you try to make sure your pipes are in a good condition.

"It's a lot of things," Meine said. "And we don't know what the future will bring. Take a look at the next corner, and you never know what's going on. But right now, life is good. We have a great new album out there. And we have a lot of fun. We enjoy it."

Meine previously discussed SCORPIONS' aborted retirement in a 2018 interview with SiriusXM. "The thing is we have a much different view now," Klaus said. "And it's a young generation — that's the fuel that keeps us going, and it's really motivating.

"To be honest, every other year, you take a look around the corner: 'Can we do this?' 'Can we still deliver on the same high level, the way we used to do it?'" he admitted. "And that's the only way, and it's only fun if you can go out there and play a great rock show, wherever you do it. Like in the last couple of weeks, we had so much fun. But then you get sick on the road, like I did last year with the severe laryngitis. What can you do? There's not a chance. And then sometimes, of course, you ask yourself, 'How long can we do this?' Especially for singers — and I know I'm not the only one. But it's always, sometimes you ask yourself, 'Klaus, c'mon, how long can you keep up this level?' And then you go out there, everything feels good."

Circling back to SCORPIONS' 2010 "farewell tour" announcement, Klaus told SiriusXM: "Of course, we had our moment of doubt when we said, 'Okay. Maybe we should retire. Maybe this is a good moment.' And then we realized we were wrong, because there's still a lot of sting in the tail, so to speak, and it still feels good. There's such a demand for the SCORPIONS, and we're one of the few bands who play this global stage. If there wasn't this kind of demand, of course, there's no point after so many years, and you'd better go, 'Well, I go home and take it easy.' But there's such a strong demand and that really feels good and challenging — it's a challenge. Of course, you don't do it for the business. It's a good business, yes, but you don't do it for the business and for the money — you do it for the fun, you do it for what's inside of you, what's in your blood, what's in your veins, and that's the rock and roll music. And you wanna go out and play in front of an audience, because that's what it's all about."

SCORPIONS' only continuous member has been Schenker, although Meine has appeared on all of the band's studio albums, while guitarist Matthias Jabs has been a consistent member since 1978, and bassist Paweł Mąciwoda and drummer Mikkey Dee have been in the band since 2003 and 2016, respectively.

"Rock Believer" was released in February 2022. The album was recorded primarily at Peppermint Park Studios in Hannover, Germany and was mixed at the legendary Hansa Studios in Berlin, Germany with engineer Michael Ilbert, who has earned multiple Grammy nominations for his mix work with producer Max Martin on albums by Taylor Swift and Katy Perry.

Since 2008, arottenbit has performed with renowned bands like Melvins and Atari Teenage Riot and at major festivals like Roadburn and Hellfest, relying solely on the impact of live shows and word of mouth without releasing an album.

Ticket holders for festivals, please visit the specific festival web site for updated information. Ticket holders for headline shows will be contacted directly from the point of purchase with further information.

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE last performed on Saturday (July 6) in Milan, Italy, after canceling their appearance at the AMA Music Festival the previous night due to unspecified illness.

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE's "The End Is Nero" tour is in support of the band's eighth studio album, "In Times New Roman…", hailed by Variety as "self-produced by band founder Homme and one of his strongest QOTSA lineups ever, is one of the rawest and heaviest albums the band has delivered."

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE performed live for the first time in more than three years on May 26, 2023 at the Sonic Temple festival in Columbus, Ohio. Prior to the Columbus gig, Josh Homme and his bandmates played one gig in early 2020, their first since 2018.

"In Times New Roman…" was made available digitally and physically on June 16, 2023 via Matador Records. The LP was recorded and mixed at Homme's own Pink Duck (RIP),with additional recording at Shangri-La. The album was produced by QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE and mixed by Mark Rankin. Artwork and double LP gatefold packaging was designed by longtime collaborator Boneface. LP vinyl was made available globally in black, green, red, silver and blue.

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE said in its album announcement that the record reflects the heartache its members have experienced in the past few years.

"In Times New Roman..." is "raw, at times brutal and not recommended for the faint of heart," a press release states. "And yet, it's perhaps the most beautiful and definitely the most rewarding album in their epic discography. Homme's most acerbic lyrics to date are buoyed by the instantly identifiable QOTSA sonic signature, expanded and embellished with new and unprecedented twists in virtually every song. With 'In Times New Roman…' we see that sometimes one needs to look beneath scars and scabs to see beauty, and sometimes the scabs and scars are the beauty."

Polish extreme metal veterans BEHEMOTH have tapped UNCLE ACID & THE DEADBEATS drummer Jon Rice for their summer 2024 European tour. Rice is temporarily filling in for longtime BEHEMOTH drummer Inferno (real name: Zbigniew Robert Promiński),who is unable to make the shows "due to health issues".

Earlier today (Tuesday, July 9),BEHEMOTH frontman Adam "Nergal" Darski shared video of one of the band's production rehearsals, and he included the following message: "With the deepest regret in our hearts I must inform you that due to health issues Inferno was forced to stay home and take care of his well being and we are enforced by @jon.charn.rice on drums! Please wish Godspeed recovery to Inferno and cross fingers for Jon to outdo himself and make us sound as powerful as possible!"

Rice previously subbed for Inferno during BEHEMOTH's 2022 South American tour with ARCH ENEMY, 2017 North American tour with SLAYER and select 2019 headlining dates in Israel and Turkey.

Rice joined UNCLE ACID & THE DEADBEATS in 2017 and appeared on the band's 2018 "Wasteland" and 2024's "Nell' Ora Blu" studio albums. He has also performed with THE RED CHORD and UMBRA VITAE.

BEHEMOTH's "O Father, O Satan, O Svmmer" 2024 European tour is described in a press release as "a monstrous voyage through the continent to perform upon huge outdoor festival stages and selected club shows, accompanied by a wickedly curated lineup of bands. Truly a spectacle not to be missed!"

The tour will feature special guests TESTAMENT, GAEREA, PESTILENCE, UADA, IMPERIAL TRIUMPHANT and UNTO OTHERS on select dates and promises to be a treat for European fans of extreme metal.

In an interview with the "Everblack" podcast conducted at the December 3, 2023 stop of the Good Things festival in Brisbane, Australia, Nergal spoke about his plans for the coming months. He said: "Well, the plan is to focus on BEHEMOTH mainly [in 2024]. I'm doing like a short run with [my folk side project] ME AND THAT MAN late March, early April and that's it. And all the rest, it's gonna be dedicated like full-on BEHEMOTH."

Asked if there is new BEHEMOTH music on the way, Nergal replied: "There's new music. Next question."

Nergal went on to say that he is not working on any material for ME AND THAT MAN at the moment and that he is concentrating exclusively on BEHEMOTH.

"I have no ME AND THAT MAN music in me for some reason anymore," he explained. "Eventually it's gonna come back. It's like tides — it's off and on and off and on, and when it happens, you've gotta catch that tide, that wave and just jump on it and surf. But there's no surfing now for ME AND THAT MAN. There's surfing for BEHEMOTH for sure."

BEHEMOTH's 12th studio album, "Opvs Contra Natvram", was released in September 2022. The LP was previously described in a press release as "a stark reminder of the rebellion, individuality, and unflinching self-expression that BEHEMOTH's phenomenal work imbues, shaped by a literary worldview."

"Opvs Contra Natvram" featured twin cover art available in both black and white and was released in an array of physical formats designed by Bartek Rogalewicz (Lodge.Black).

ESCUELA GRIND to Release 'Dreams On Algorithms' Album In October

New England extreme metal powerhouse ESCUELA GRIND will release its new album, "Dreams On Algorithms", on October 18 via MNRK Heavy. Recorded at Salem, Massachusetts's GodCity studio with producer Kurt Ballou and mastered by Nick Townsend (Dr. Dre, Betty Davis),the record is the highly anticipated follow-up to ESCUELA GRIND's celebrated 2022 full-length debut, "Memory Theater", a recording hailed as "an opus of extremity" by The New York Times.

Speaking on the album title "Dreams On Algorithms", vocalist Katerina Economou says: "We wanted to write an album that identifies what it's like to consume in this era we live in: what we receive through our phones, the social media landscape, and personalized algorithms, and how it is translated by our subconscious. I think most people can relate to something in their online sphere infecting their dreams. This transfer was something we really wanted to expand on, and all of the songs have themes relating to dream analysis and technology."

In sync with the new album announcement, ESCUELA GRIND today drops the new single and video "Turbulence", which showcases clean vocals over an earworm chorus — a first for ESCUELA GRIND — without pulling away from unhinged brutality. Watch the "Turbulence" video, directed by Michael Jari Davidson (ALICE IN CHAINS),below.

"I had the idea for the 'Turbulence' title during a plane ride where I thought I was actually gonna die," says ESCUELA GRIND drummer Jesse Fuentes. "My mind was fixated on landing and playing the next show. It helped me cope, and then it kept happening on a couple of flights after that. My last in-person conversation with NAPALM DEATH's Shane Embury was very emotional; he suggested we add clean vocals after he overheard Katerina doing some clean singing on the tour bus (after shows, on our winter 2023 European tour with NxDx, everyone would sing along together. it really was magical). The vocal hook and melody on 'Turbulence' was created a day before vocals were to be recorded at GodCity. We took that airplane experience, and wrote some straightforward, but meaningful lyrics."

"It will be immediately obvious when you first hear this song that it is a departure for us," offers Economou. "We wanted to take a risk with 'Turbulence', and after performing so many live shows over the last year we were ready to compile all that influence. The clean singing may take some people off guard coming from a grind/hardcore band, but after touring with NAPALM DEATH, we realized we wanted to incorporate that aspect into our music in a similar way. We definitely wanted a grungy, catchy chorus to sing at all of our upcoming festival appearances, and I hope the fans like the song as much as we do"

"Dreams On Algorithms" is also advanced by the single "Always Watching You", a video for which can be seen below.

"Most of 'Always Watching You' was written in a practice space by Jesse and Krissy, and refined during soundchecks we had over the year," details Economou. "I've had this desire to write a song where I could portray the obsessive-stalker-girl archetype through lyrics for a while. Although not physically threatening, it's really interesting that society is so terrified of this stereotype. In 'Always Watching You', I wanted this fantastical, 'Nightmare On Elm Street'-style imagery that was rooted in the gore and horror of death metal. Themes of parasocial relationships, anxieties from social media, and an omnipresent algorithm are strongly observed in this song and throughout the entire album."

"Dreams On Algorithms" track listing:

01. DOA
02. Always Watching You
03. Constant Passenger
04. Moral Injury
05. Concept Of God
06. Animus Multiform
07. Scorpion
08. Planned Obsolescence
09. Toothless
10. Turbulence

Striking cover art by AC Tremblay foreshadows the inherent power and thematic investment contained in "Dreams On Algorithms".

"We have collaborated with the incredible AC Tremblay once more to create this vision of 'Dreams On Algorithms',' says the band. "We wanted a similar expression as our last album, but with a different color palette. The art of Kurt Seligmann, Bauhaus theater sets, 'Nightmare On Elm Street', Eiko Ishioka and the Cremaster Cycle were source materials of inspiration for this visual storytelling. The amount of detail and attention that AC Tremblay pays to his drawing is what we love most about working with him. You'll be able to find many Easter eggs from the album's lyrics within the artwork. We're still finding new details."

Unquestionably one of the hardest working bands in music today, ESCUELA GRIND is currently in the midst of a two-month tour of Europe which includes a slew of high-profile festival appearances.

In addition to Economou and Fuentes, ESCUELA GRIND features Kris Morash (guitar) and Justin Altamirano (bass).

METALLICA's JAMES HETFIELD Loans Six Vintage Cars To Nebraska Museum

Six vehicles from the private collection of METALLICA's James Hetfield are being displayed at the American Automobile Experience in Kearney, Nebraska. The cars were transported from the Peterson Automotive Museum in Los Angeles.

Blueprint Engines and local Kearney donors reached out to the Los Angeles car museum and struck a deal to have Hetfield's cars on loan for a year.

Pete Stout, director of business for Blueprint Engines, said about Hetfield: "He is a huge car guy and he wanted to be able to share some of his private collection with the world. Here at the American Automobile Experience here in Kearney, we're excited to have this fabulous display of vehicles here for a year."

The six cars from the collection are:

1932 Ford Roadster - "Blackjack"
1936 Auburn 852 Speedster - "Slow Burn"
1936 Ford Coupe - "Iron Fist"
1937 Ford Coupe - "Crimson Ghost"
1937 Lincoln Zephyr - "Voodoo Priest"
1956 Ford F-100 - "Str8 Edge"

In 2019, Hetfield donated his car collection to the Petersen Automotive Museum. James has always been a car guy and shares his car journey to one of the coolest custom car collections around. Hetfield has described seeing cars in the same way he sees music: as forms of freedom and expression that convey the passions of their creator.

Best known as a co-founder, songwriter, singer and guitarist for the heavy metal band METALLICA, Hetfield has also gained recognition in the automotive world for his unique collection of entirely bespoke vehicles. While the vast majority of collectors acquire vehicles by purchasing pre-existing examples, Hetfield elected instead to build his from scratch, channeling creativity often reserved for his music into the production of rolling sculptures.

Speaking to MotorTrend about his decision to donate the cars, Hetfield said: "I had a vision of not having to take care of these cars anymore because at some point... when I have these cars, at some point they have me. It takes a lot of time and effort to keep these things up and running, and in good condition. They were going to be either auctioned or donated or something. Then that did actually happen.

"I'm super grateful that the Petersen Museum was able to take the collection and keep it all together. That's the one thing that I was really disappointed about, the fact that if they went to auction and they all went off somewhere different they wouldn't be living together anymore, and it wouldn't be as a collection. I think word got around to them, and they offered to take the collection. I was stoked. As far as the prestige of the Petersen Museum, and my collection being in there, it's a huge honor. It really is."

Asked if he misses the cars yet, Hetfield said: "I get to look at them every day in my book, man. Yeah, I miss driving certain cars and just being around them but, you know, they served their purpose. I got to get creative. I got to help other people get creative, all the different guys: Robert Roling, and Scott Mugford, and Josh Mills, the De Leys. I got to work with some awesome, historical people. Art Himsl, who did the paint on the Skylark. Darryl Hollenbeck. I met a lot of great people who have some old-school craftwork in their blood, which I love. I got to do these things. Now other people get to look at them."

A book about Hetfield's cars, "Reclaimed Rust: The Four-Wheeled Creations Of James Hetfield", was released in July 2020 via Insight Editions. In the book, Hetfield opened up his garage for an exclusive tour of the highlights of his incredible collection of restored and customized classic cars.

STRYPER's MICHAEL SWEET Says There Is 'A Huge Misconception That All Rock Stars Are Rich And Wealthy': 'We're Not Loaded'

STRYPER frontman Michael Sweet has blasted the common misconception that "all rock stars are rich."

The 61-year-old musician, who was born in California but currently resides in Massachusetts, addressed the challenges facing musicians and songwriters in today's competitive music industry in a social media post on Friday (July 5). He wrote:
"Music is an extremely tough business. If you're not tough, you'll never make it in this business. Or at least, you won't go far.
It takes hard work, disipline and determination. Relentless. Even then, it's not easy. A constant up and down battle of trying to balance everything. Spending money to make money, making money to spend money. Balancing budgets and trying to constantly and continuously makes things work financially. And even if you are very successful, you must still be very cautious and smart. Invest, save, budget. Don't make the mistake of 'living like a rock star'. Live modestly and think about the future.

"Success in the music business is seasonal," he continued. "On and off. This is why you must have great management. People who know how to direct you on your path but more importantly, keep you from going bankrupt.

"Most musicians don't think about finances. They overspend and under save. Eventually you'll find yourself in a disastrous situation. You have to be smart with your success. There is also a huge misconception that all rock stars are rich and wealthy. It's all relative to what you invest (time, effort, labor) back into it but it's really not a 'big return' business. The pay off for me is to get to do what I love! That's my return! Regarding finances? I'm blessed to have a smart wife and great management so I don't spend all my money on guitars and amps. But at the same time, we don't make a lot comparatively. For the time and effort we put into everything it's probably less than minimum wage to be honest.

"What's my point? If you're in music or getting into music - Be smart," he added. "Be wise. Be frugal. It won't be an easy journey or a smooth road. You will feel bumps along the way and even fall into some deep holes (wondering how you will get out). If you have a calling on your life and you know that you're put on this earth to bless people with music, never give up. Never stop. Keep investing back into that calling and you will be blessed for doing so. You'll thank me later".

One of Sweet's Facebook followers seemingly questioned the singer/guitarist's claims, writing in the comments section below Michael's post: "Celebrity net worth has you worth 3 million dollars , well and truly out of the ordinary guys range , enjoy it , but us fans working a 9 to 5 grind could only dream of that". This prompted Sweet to respond: "And you believe that? They have Perry [Richardson, STRYPER and ex-FIREHOUSE bassist] listed as being worth millions and millions. We laugh at that all the time. We're not loaded pal."

Last month, STRYPER released a new single, "End Of Days". It is the first new music from STRYPER since the arrival of 2022's "The Final Battle" album.

The band's 40th-anniversary tour will kick off September 11 in Greenville, Tennessee and conclude November 16 in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

STRYPER's 40th-anniversary tour will be a celebration of both classic hits and new-era fan favorites, including outfit changes and an exciting new show production. In most cities, this will be a two-set "evening with"-style show.

In December, Sweet underwent partial thyroidectomy, the surgery to remove part of his thyroid gland. It is the most common surgery for thyroid cancer.

The follow-up to 2020's "Even The Devil Believes", "The Final Battle" was produced by Sweet and was once again recorded at SpiritHouse Recording Studios in Northampton, Massachusetts.

Formed 41 years ago, STRYPER's name comes from Isaiah 53:5, which states: "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."

STRYPER's albums include "To Hell With The Devil", "Second Coming", "No More Hell To Pay", "Fallen", "God Damn Evil" and the aforementioned "Even The Devil Believes" and "The Final Battle".

Michael is joined in STRYPER by his brother Robert Sweet (drums),Oz Fox (guitar) and Perry Richardson (bass).

STRYPER's "To Hell With The Amps: The Unplugged Tour" kicked off in late May. For the first time ever, the Christian rockers staged a full tour where they performed their hits and fan favorites acoustically.

Music is an extremely tough business. If you're not tough, you'll never make it in this business. Or at least, you won't...

VIRGIN STEELE Announce Reissue Of First Two Albums

This summer, hot on the heels of last year’s bombastic studio album The Passion Of Dionysus, the first two Virgin Steele albums will be reissued and hitting the streets on August 23.

Main man David DeFeis has dubbed each new release "The Anniversary Edition." He completely remixed each album from the original multi-tracks and included new liner notes and previously unreleased photos creating exceptional editions of these landmark albums.

Regarding the first album DeFeis comments: ”I added that additional title because one, this is indeed a very special re-issue. And two…this is a celebration. Every song on the album has been lovingly restored, with faith, heart & Steele. Incredibly for the most part, the original multi-track tapes held up quite well, but now and again some creative decisions had to be made, which not only did not at all hinder the record’s resurrection, but in the end, actually resulted in making the album stronger, and the songs even more interesting. The original fire has been kept…enhanced, and sonically there is greater definition all around. You can really appreciate the explosive performances from everyone. It’s like being back in the studio the day it was recorded.

"In addition to the inclusion of the early demos, we were also able to include several new bonus tracks including a new thrashing doom-type song called 'Hell From Beyond The Stars', plus an alternate version of 'The Fire God,' and a new over the top version of the song 'Virgin Steele' (New Orchestral Version).”.

Virgin Steele I - The Anniversary Edition tracklisting:

"Minuet In G Minor" - (Anniversary Re-Mix)
"Danger Zone" - (Anniversary Re-Mix)
"American Girl" - (Anniversary Re-Mix)
"Dead End Kids" - (Anniversary Re-Mix)
"Drive On Thru" - (Anniversary Re-Mix)
"Lothlorien" (Orchestral Version) - (Anniversary Re-Mix)
"Still In Love With You" - (Anniversary Re-Mix)
"Children Of The Storm" - (Anniversary Re-Mix)
"Pictures On You" - (Anniversary Re-Mix)
"Pulverizer" - (Anniversary Re-Mix)
"Living In Sin" - (Anniversary Re-Mix)
"Virgin Steele" - (Anniversary Re-Mix)
"The Lesson" (Demo) - (Anniversary Re-Mix)
"Life Of Crime" (Demo) - (Anniversary Re-Mix)

About Guardians Of The Flame - The Anniversary Edition, DeFeis had this to share: "It was a joy to go back to the original multi-tracks, listen and find all the various outtakes, studio chatter, and even a long-forgotten piano solo that I had done. In resurrecting this album, I did my best to try to preserve the original feel and integrity of what we were trying to achieve, while at the same time hoping to make it sonically clearer and more direct. The original energy and exuberant fire remain…and there is greater definition all around.

“ ...for me, it feels like being back in those days again only with the knowledge gained from having lived several lives since then. The full album is represented in its original entirety, plus we have included the tracks from the extended play single we had issued right after Guardians, which featured the songs 'I Am The One,' 'Go Down Fighting' and 'Wait For The Night' and… in addition, we were also able to include several new bonus tracks, such as the lost diabolical piano solo…'Chaos Caprice,' (from the original Guardians sessions), a new alternate version of the song 'Desert Plains', a brand new track called 'Dirty Blonde Angel,' (that I had actually written for the Age Of Consent album but we had never recorded until now), and there is also another bonus track in the form of 'The Heaven's Door Suite,' which contains a re-written cover of the song 'Knockin' On Heaven's Door' combined with new music that I crafted…”

Guardians Of The Flame - The Anniversary Edition tracklisting:

"Don’t Say Goodbye (Tonight)" - (Anniversary Re-Mix)
"Burn The Sun" - (Anniversary Re-Mix)
"Life Of Crime" - (Anniversary Re-Mix)
"The Redeemer" - (Anniversary Re-Mix)
"Birth Through Fire" - (Anniversary Re-Mix)
"Guardians Of The Flame" - (Anniversary Re-Mix)
"Metal City" - (Anniversary Re-Mix)
