Thrash metal mavens, Nervosa, performed "Jailbreak", the title track of the band's fifth album (2023) at Bloodstock Open Air 2024, in Walton-on-Trent, England on August 9. Professionally-filmed video footage can be viewed below:
After their set, Nervosa vocalist / guitarist Prika Amaral and drummer Gabriela Abud spoke wtih Bloodstock TV’s Oran O’Beirne about the band's latest lineup changes, new music, and Sepultura’s retirement. The complete interview can be seen below; an excerpt has been transcribed as follows:
Prika Amaral: "All the girls that played in Nervosa were good for a certain period, and then things changed, like everything in our lives... But this time for me particular it was completely different because I have to start to sing; something that I never did before. Everything came up last minute, so I had to learn very quick. It's a huge challenge, because also I had new members in the band. So, it's many things to manage. So, this was a really big challenge for me. That's why it was the difference. Like, wow! Now I felt the difference of the lineup change."
Nervosa is about to embark upon their first ever headline tour of the US and Canada, beginning August 29. On the road for nearly a month-and-a-half, the tour will visit major locations such as Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Brooklyn, Montreal and Chicago - including seven total stops in Canada - coming to an end in mid-October. The tour will feature support from Lich King and Hatriot. Get your tickets here.
Nervosa's Prika Amaral about the upcoming North American tour: "We're excited to be coming to North America with an awesome lineup of new wave thrash metal. We have waited so long to get back and will be bringing a very special show for you all! Don't wait, get your tickets & VIP now. It's our jailbreak!"

Zeal & Ardor isn’t just a band; it’s a living and breathing entity. Like any other sentient being, it consumes, evolves, and transforms from one season to the next. It has only sharpened its claws, lengthened its teeth, and steeled its nerves over the years, growing more undeniable and unpredictable in the process.
The band released their fourth album, the self-produced Greif, on August 23. Today, the band has dropped the cinematic video for "Kilonova", which plays out like a short film against the backdrop of the song's tension.
"A 'Kilonova' is when two supernovas collide," band leader Manguel Gagneux states. "It's the type of grandeur I'm after."
After gathering tens of millions of streams and earning widespread critical acclaim, Zeal & Ardor prove as dynamic and dangerous as ever on fourth full-length, self-produced album, Greif.
Rather than stagnating, basking in global acclaim garnered from three previous albums - Devil Is Fine [2017], Stranger Fruit [2018] and Zeal & Ardor [2022] - Manuel opted to shake things up for Greif. Instead of creatively flying solo again, this time he welcomed his bandmates into the studio, featuring three voices for the first time and emboldening the sound from every angle. As such, the musicians - Tiziano Volante [guitar], Marc Obrist [vocals], Denis Wagner [vocals], Lukas Kurmann [bass], and Marco Von Allmen [drums] - spread their wings alongside him. Decamping to Marc’s studio Hutch Sounds in Switzerland, the record came to life in just five months.
“We've really evolved into a tight-knit unit,” explains Marc. “Before Zeal & Ardor, we were basically strangers, but we're like a little family now. Each member brings his own unique flavor to the mix, and we all try to make Manuel’s songs better in our own way. The most interesting part for me was the new approach of how we work together in the studio.”
“I wanted to expand upon what we had and introduce new colors,” Manuel continues. “There are angry and accusatory moments, but there’s also some solace and happiness. I’m widening the palette of colors we have to paint with. These are avenues we haven’t tried.”

Zeal & Ardor return to the UK for one headline show at London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on September 22.

Just days ahead of kicking off their tour supporting Century Media labelmates in deathcore, Signs Of The Swarm, Las Vegas-based blackened deathcore blasphemers, Ov Sulfur, have unleashed the final b-side from acclaimed debut LP, The Burden Ov Faith (2023). Stream "Untruth" here; watch the visualizer below.
"It's funny that one of the first songs we started writing for the album is the last one we're dropping from the sessions," admits guitarist/vocalist Chase Wilson. "What you hear is what we settled on after many evolutions, with Ricky [Hoover, vocals] pleading with those who use religion as a crutch to realize they've been terribly misled. What will it take and when will we learn that we must burn every inch of the lie that has been instilled into us from a young age?"
The Decade Of The Swarm Tour will be Ov Sulfur's first tour since a wildly successful co-headlining jaunt with fellow label-mates Mental Cruelty, alongside Ghost Bath and Extermination Dismemberment. This jaunt is less kvlt, finding the Century Media duo Ov Sulfur and Signs Of The Swarm heading out with nu metalcore trailblazers Cane Hill, nu metallic hardcore moshers 156/Silence and eldritch blackened deathcore ghouls A Wake In Providence, who add a more gothic take on the genre.

The new single from British singer, songwriter, producer and prog pioneer, Tim Bowness, is out today. The track, titled "Lost/Not Lost", is one of the standout tracks from Tim’s new album, Powder Dry, set for release on September 13 via Kscope.
Speaking about the single, he said, “Both musically and lyrically, 'Lost / Not Lost' is the most direct song on Powder Dry. It’s a straight-ahead electro-pop piece with an optimistic lyric embracing escape and a spirit of abandon. It provides a sharp contrast to some of the bleak sentiments and troubled tales found elsewhere on the album. Like the rest of the music, it came together in a very natural and instinctive way. Clearly, I was in a rare good mood that day!”
Mixed by Bowness’s partner in no-man, Steven Wilson, the new single is accompanied by a pulsating and vivid new video produced by Blacktide Productions.
Featuring 16 pieces over its restless 40-minute duration, Tim Bowness’s eighth studio album, Powder Dry, represents a new beginning on a new label.
A collection of acute contrasts, the album is a vibrantly accessible and wildly experimental genre-blurring assault, embracing industrial rock, electro pop, singer-songwriter directness, haunted carnival soundscapes and more.
Entirely produced, performed and written by Bowness (a first), Powder Dry was mixed (in stereo and Surround Sound) by Bowness’s partner in no-man (and The Album Years podcast), Steven Wilson, who also acted as Bowness’s sounding board during the mixing process.
“This is the best and most creative of all of Tim's albums.” - Steven Wilson

I read an interview where Kirk Hammett of Metallica said how much he enjoyed the double guitar parts of Adrian (Belew) and Robert on the Discipline album and "Frame by Frame."
On who he listens to and who influenced him, Fripp says: "Well, Hendrix, Clapton, Beck, McLaughlin, Page, and Chuck Berry. In the early days, Scotty Moore, Elvis's player, Little Richard. The sheer power of that man was astonishing."

“Wem Die Stunde Schlägt” video:
Richter und Henker clearly proves that Oomph! return stronger than before with their new lineup, charging straight forward! Album opener “Wem Die Stunde Schlägt” (en: For Whom The Bell Tolls) makes an immediate statement, propelled by a hefty dose of industrial metal. Title track “Richter und Henker” captivates the listener with a mixture of hooky guitars and chanting vocals, while criticizing ignorant social movements. New wave influences are present on heavy and groovy anti-war anthem “Nur Ein Mensch” (en: Only A Human) - a future hit and strong sign against warmongering and empty slogans that force hatred and war. On “Wut” (Anger), Oomph! is supported by none other than genre idol Joachim Witt.
Since their formation in 1989, Oomph! has emerged as a highly influential band that has even inspired later Neue Deutsche Härte giants. With Richter und Henker, the Neue Deutsche Härte masters prove that they remain a leading force in the scene!
Former Sabaton guitarist / Majestica frontman Tommy Johansson has shared his weekly cover, this time performing the Tina Turner classic, "Simply The Best"
The song is taken from Turner's 1989 album, Foreign Affair.
Majestica are back with their first new music of 2024. The Swedish power metal quartet proudly presents their latest single, "A New Beginning", which is the band's first release since 2021. Therefore, the song name not only fits in relation to this, but also speaks about a new beginning and letting things come to an end. Paired with musical elements reminiscent of the 80s, Majestica unleashes a new catchy tune upon their fans that puts the band back on the radar.
As if the release of this brand new single wasn't enough, Majestica have also delivered a brand new music video for their single, which you can watch below.
Tommy Johansson comments: "When Majestica finally returns with a new song it couldn’t have been a better one than 'A New Beginning'. Not only is it a heavy power metal song with a catchy sing-along chorus, but it’s also very melodic in the style of Stratovarius, 80’s rock, and Helloween with some hints of Gary Moore. The song reflects on (as the title says) to start over, but also of something that comes to an end. But the end isn’t always a bad thing. It feels great to finally release some new music with Majestica again and to show that we’re back - back with a new beginning."
Stream the new single here, and watch the video below:
Majestica is:
Tommy Johansson - guitars, vocals
Petter Hjerpe - guitars
Chris David - bass
Joel Kollberg - drums
Erik Grönwall (ex-Skid Row) has released the new video below, featuring his cover of John Farnham's 1986 hit, "You're The Voice".
Grönwall recently challenged himself to write a power metal song on the spot. The end result is "Dragon Knights", which you can check out below.
The song features Grönwall, guitarist Jona Tee (H.E.A.T), and bassist Jens Anderson (Crazy Lixx). "Dragon Knights" was co-written, produced, mixed and mastered by Jona Tee

Thanks for your attention and look forward to seeing you all in the battlefield!"

Borknagar: "We are honoured and incredibly exited to announce our upcoming co-headline tour across the European lands with our brothers in music, and true legends, Rotting Christ! From the eerie mists of the Blue Mountains, Australia, Carmeria combine the haunting sounds of dark symphonic metal with the lovelorn energy of gothic rock. Their sophomore LP, Tragédie D'amour, is available now and to celebrate, Carmeria unveil the new video for their latest single, "A Thousand Winter Rains". This atmospheric and intense track delves into themes of longing and sorrow, perfectly complemented by the evocative visuals in the clip below, showcasing the band’s dedication to exploring the more melancholic aspects of the human experience.
Singer / songwriter Jordan von Grae shares: "The past three years have been a monumental journey through the peaks of love, and the valleys of loss, and reflecting on these experiences in the writing and production process for this album was both haunting and beautiful. As a writer, Tragédie D'amour took me out of my comfort zone, and the result was a series of wonderful lessons in songcrafting and production, and a newfound appreciation for the vast range of emotions and experiences held in the dichotomy of love and grief. It is my hope that those who listen to our record find solace in the fact that they are not alone in their experiences - the good, and the bad."
Since reforming with a new lineup in 2018, the band has been on a momentous warpath through the Australian music scene. Carmeria's debut album Advenae (2021) saw the five-piece garner international acclaim. In the summer of 2021/2022, the group embarked on their first nation-wide tour, culminating in a sold out show in their hometown capital, Sydney. The following years saw the ensemble write and record music for their second opus, titled Tragédie D'amour, which consists of ten new songs and sees the band’s sound taking on a more energetic gothic rock approach than its predecessor.

"Whispers Of Forgiveness"

Cypriot thrash / death metallers Blynd unleashed a new official video for the song “Infernal”, taken from their fourth studio album Unbeliever, out now via Pitch Black Records.
Directed by Anthony Frangous, the “Infernal” video is set in a forest, in the middle of winter, where a bloody river flows and where crows fight for survival. The song proceeds with its heavy and rhythmic pace. Andrea Paraschos's full-bodied growl and the wall of guitars will delight the palates of the most uncompromising lovers of thrash / death metal.
The band’s latest opus Unbeliever delivers an onslaught of blistering riffs, thunderous drums, and thought-provoking lyricism that fans have come to expect from Blynd.
Musically, the album has an overall dark atmosphere with both slow and fast-paced songs, some progressive passages, epic choruses and outros. Lyrically, the album deals with a variety of issues that have plagued (still plague) humanity - from war themes to Orwellian mass surveillance, propaganda, rewriting history and the suppression of free speech.
Unbeliever is available on CD and Digital and can be ordered at PitchBlackRecords.com.
