Job Bos (Satyricon) and Norman Lonhard (ex-Triptykon) have announced the formation of Dead Eyed Creek. An early preview is available now, with the band sharing a teaser for their first single, “Set Me Free” (see below). The track will be released soon.


It was fall 2019 when guitarist and band founder Job Bos (Satyricon, Dark Fortress, The Ruins of Beverast), approached longtime friend and drummer Norman Lonhard (ex-Triptykon) with the idea of creating music together. After having worked with different musicians, they found bass player Max Blok, who proved to be the right fit for the band on both a musical and a personal level. The final person to join the band was Icelandic singer Einar Vilberg. Einar showed that his mind-blowing vocal skills and range were the number one choice for the band and together they created a mammoth of an album. Dead Eyed Creek was born.


Dead Eyed Creek’s music builds on a shared love of ‘90s rock sounds and heavy music. The band strives to go against the grain and eschews the clean and overproduced sounds found in the current scene. Job Bos says of the songwriting “I’ve been digging deep into myself, my past, my mistakes, my good and bad sides. The idea was to create something based on pure and real things, things that a lot of people have to face in life, and I hope people find a piece of themselves in our music and can hold on to it. Just like many bands have done for us. No metaphors or hiding, it’s all real and it’s all there.”




Co-producer V. Santura adds: “I think that Dead Eyed Creek is a motherfucking great band, seriously. As a close friend of the band, I already witnessed their first steps and also the sometimes depressing difficulties and problems on the road to complete this debut album. But I have to say that I am truly stoked about their music! May the future belong to them.“


Dead Eyed Creek’s sound has it all - from heavy riffs and monstrous grooves to tragic and beautiful ballads and everything in between. Captivating and catchy songs with vocals that can make your skin crawl. With their music, they take the greatness of ‘90s rock to a new level, but most of all continue the sound from that era that so many have fallen in love with.


Now Dead Eyed Creek are gearing up to release their debut album. The international four piece already recorded eleven songs with German producer Michael Zech at Q7 studios in Munich and crafted something wonderfully iconoclastic. To top it off, the acclaimed American music video director Matt Mahurin, who has worked with bands such as Metallica, U2, Alice In Chains and many more, teamed up with Dead Eyed Creek to help them craft their first music videos.

SKID ROW has released the music video for its latest single, "The Gang's All Here". The song is the title track of the band's new studio album, which will be released on October 14 via earMUSIC.

"By the fans, for the fans!" is the mantra for this video, as SKID ROW called upon its loyal and dedicated fanbase to help create the video by submitting live footage and photos from SKID ROW's recent 2022 concerts, as well as behind-the-scenes rehearsal moments. The video is a testament to the power SKID ROW has both on and off stage, as well as the chemistry within the band and with their fans.

"'The Gang's All Here', for me, represents the brotherhood of this band," says guitarist Scotti Hill. "And with the addition of [new singer] Erik [Grönwall], our bond is more solid than ever. Our fans have always been part of the family, so when it was time to shoot a video, we handed the camera work over to them. After all, they have the best perspective to capture the excitement of a SKID ROW show."

"I'm so fucking psyched to finally release this video! This video is by the fans, for the fans. A big shout out to all the fans who made this video happen. Thank you!," says Grönwall.

SKID ROW recorded most of "The Gang's All Here" in Nashville, Tennessee with producer Nick Raskulinecz, who has previously worked with FOO FIGHTERS, STONE SOUR, HALESTORM, EVANESCENCE, RUSH and ALICE IN CHAINS, among many others.

Grönwall joined SKID ROW in January as the replacement for ZP Theart, who had been in the group for more than six years. Theart played his final gig with SKID ROW in February before being officially given the boot.

Grönwall was a member of the Swedish hard rock band H.E.A.T. with whom he recorded four studio albums — "Address The Nation" (2012),"Tearing Down The Walls" (2014),"Into The Great Unknown" (2017) and "H.E.A.T II" (2020) — before exiting the group in October 2020.

Grönwall was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in March 2021. Six months later, he announced that he was cancer free after receiving a bone marrow transplant in August. "Some anonymous wonderful human being somewhere in the world donated his/her blood cells so that I could get a second chance at life," he told Headbangers Lifestyle in January. "Sometimes I can just get tears in my eyes when I think about it. It's so beautiful that one person who is not connected to me in any way wanted to do that for me. He/she doesn't know that the blood cells were for me. It's completely anonymous."

Last September, Grönwall released his cover version of "18 And Life" via all streaming platforms.

In 2018, Grönwall debuted in the U.S. for 10 million viewers in NBC's live broadcast of Andrew Lloyd Webber's and Tim Rice's musical "Jesus Christ Superstar". Along with John Legend, Alice Cooper, Sara Bareilles and others, Erik played the key role of Simon Zealotes.

SKID ROW bassist Rachel Bolan recently told Meltdown of Detroit's WRIF radio station about Grönwall's addition to the band: "Just the way he does things and his work ethic is one I've never seen other than the four of us that are already in the band. He just doesn't stop until he gets things absolutely right. Whether it's his version, what he thinks is right, or what we think is right, he works hard — he works hard. And you can see why he had the success he did overseas because he's a really, really hard-working singer that takes care of his instrument and that takes pride in his craft."

Rachel also reflected on SKID ROW's first live performance with Grönwall, saying: "Honestly, dude, from the minute he opened his mouth… His timing is impeccable. We knew it was gonna be cool. And each show has gotten even better, 'cause we're learning each other's rhythm on stage. When I walked away from that show, I said to Erik, I go, 'This was show one. I cannot wait for show one hundred. It's gonna be amazing.'"

Bolan previously talked about how Erik came to join SKID ROW during an appearance on the latest episode of SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation L.A. Invasion", recorded just hours before SKID ROW's first performance with the Swedish singer. "We toured together. H.E.A.T. was on tour with SKID ROW. What year was that? '18? And we'd hear him every night from the dressing room," he said. "And a couple of times, I was, like, 'Man, listen to this guy sing. He's phenomenal.' And then, I forget who told me, someone that was with us, 'Yeah, he won 'Idol' in Sweden.' And I was, like, 'Man, he's got pipes.' And I was listening. Then I went behind the monitor board a couple of times. And in my head, I'm, like, 'Wow! When SKID ROW has some downtime, I'm gonna get in touch with this dude and start a side project with him.' And obviously, that never happened. But as time went on and we got to the point to where we were with ZP and stuff, Erik was our first… I told Snake, I go, 'We've gotta check this guy out.' And along with Snake and the rest of the guys, and Nick, our producer, Nick Raskulinecz, were, like, 'He's the guy, man. Send him some songs.' So we sent him some songs that we were recording, just with a guide vocal on it, and it came back about 24 hours later, and we were, like, 'All right. He's the guy. Get him on a plane. Let's do this.'"

Prior to her death last month, former groupie Cynthia "Plaster Caster" Albritton, who gained fame for her sculptures of Jimi Hendrix's penis and other iconic rock stars, donated to The Icelandic Phallological Museum one of a few cast replicas of the legendary guitarist's genitalia. Future guests of the museum will thus be able to engage with a legendary ʺmemberʺ of rock 'n' roll history. The cast will be unveiled during a closed event which will take place at The Phallological Museum's premises in downtown Reykjavik in early June.

Hendrix was Cynthia's most infamous cast and one of her first, done in February 1968. A decade ago, Cynthia told Rock Scene magazine: "Jimi Hendrix was coming to town. He was my first real rock star that dipped his dick and it was unbelievable. We were the groupies that got to the hotel first and we were the only groupies in Jimi Hendrix's room. It wasn't our very first cast. I had tried it on a few civilians first to be ready for Jimi. He's my biggest. No, he's not my biggest. There are 'bigger-ish' others. But I couldn't say whether or not he's my most exciting. Because they're my sweet babies and I am their mama and I'm very democratic with all my babies. I don't like to play favorites. I love them all. The experiences were equally exciting and weird and different from each other."

According to Variety, Cynthia's "collection" also included Wayne Kramer of MC5, Pete Shelley of THE BUZZCOCKS, Jello Biafra of the DEAD KENNEDYS as well as female breasts from the likes of Laetitia Sadier of STEREOLAB, Sally Timms of the MEKONS, PEACHES, Karen O of the YEAH YEAH YEAHS and many others. She later expanded her subjects to include filmmakers and other artists and eventually amassed a collection of 50 plaster phalluses.

Albritton, whose method of making the plaster casts included using a dental mold-making substance called alginate, was immortalized in the KISS song "Plaster Caster", and a 2001 documentary of the same name chronicled her artistic legacy.

The Icelandic Phallological Museum is the brainchild of Sigurður Hjartarson, a collector of specimens from every single mammal in Iceland as well as many foreign species for a total of nearly 300. His collection began in 1974 when a friend gave him a pizzle (bull's penis) as a horsewhip.

Bassist Rudy Sarzo spoke to Al.com about his decision to rejoin QUIET RIOT after an 18-year absence. Asked if he had to relearn any of the material or if that music just embedded in his DNA, Rudy said: "It's such a multi-level question. The challenge was actually — and here's the tricky part — I am not the same bass player. I am not the same musician. I'm not the same human being. It's kind of like taking a photo 40 years ago and trying to mimic the expression that you have on your face for the rest of your life. No, you don't. Every time you go into a studio, that's a snapshot of that moment. And then in my case, 40 years later, you're playing the same songs again. [Laughs]

"I was a member of THE GUESS WHO right before I came back to QUIET RIOT and before that I had played with BLUE ÖYSTER CULT," he continued. "Which is not necessarily known as '80s metal. I've played in so many genres. So all of that is part of my DNA now. Now, if I would've been a lifer, meaning a guy that's only been in one band, that kind of musical path, what happens is you really don't have as many of those outside influences, musically.

"But going back to the energy and physicality involved in what we do (in QUIET RIOT),I work out. I get on the treadmill, I work on my cardio and all of that just to be able to sustain a high-level show that 40 years ago you would go out and on tour, get on a tour bus and do it every night. And that was your workout. You didn't have to go to the gym. So the more shows we do, the more we become that band that people were familiar with from watching us going on tour for months and sometimes a year and a half.

"What's different about QUIET RIOT is QUIET RIOT was the first band — and I'm going back to 1978 when I first joined with Randy Rhoads in the band — that every single individual, we all had the same musical tastes," Rudy explained. "We all liked the same bands. We were all influenced by the same bands. And that is a bit different. That's what really creates a cohesive collective sound, style and a philosophy for the band I like to call a consciousness."

As for what he hopes the people who come to QUIET RIOT's upcoming shows get from them, Rudy said: "That's an interesting perception. Because for me, is not what they get, is what I'm capable of giving. Because they're not gonna get anything unless we give as a band, we present something for them. And my mission, when I go on stage, or even when we have the conversation like this, is to actually celebrate the memory of Frankie Banali, Kevin DuBrow and Randy Rhoads. And to celebrate the musical legacy of QUIET RIOT, what we were able to accomplish and touch people's lives with our music and how they touched us. You know, it's all collective. You can't have the success QUIET RIOT has experienced without a loving audience. We love the audience, the audience loves us back, which to me is the ultimate experience of being in a band. And you've really got to appreciate it and realize the blessing that it is to be able to do this, for so many reasons."

Rudy played his first show back with QUIET RIOT last November at The Groove Music Hall in Thornburg, Virginia.

Sarzo was one of the members of QUIET RIOT's "Metal Health" lineup. He played bass on the classic LP, which sold over ten million copies and spawned the hits "Cum On Feel The Noize" and "Metal Health" and on the follow-up record "Condition Critical".

Rudy appeared in the most notable music videos in the MTV age and toured with the band until 1985 and again from 1997 to 2003. During his years out of the band, Sarzo was a member of OZZY OSBOURNE, WHITESNAKE, DIO, BLUE ÖYSTER CULT, QUEENSRŸCHE and THE GUESS WHO.

Banali died in August 2020 after a 16-month battle with pancreatic cancer.

Frankie's history with QUIET RIOT spanned over 37 years and he had the distinction of being the only member of the band to have recorded on every single QUIET RIOT release from 1983's "Metal Health", which was the first heavy metal album to reach No. 1 on the Billboard chart, through 2019's "Hollywood Cowboys".

Banali resurrected QUIET RIOT in 2010, three years after the death of singer and founding member Kevin DuBrow.

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, the Cobain family is donating a portion of the proceeds of the legendary guitar and select Kurt Cobain items to Kicking The Stigma, the Irsays' initiative to raise awareness about mental health disorders and remove the stigma associated with these illnesses. NIRVANA's breakout hit single "Smells Like Teen Spirit" created a seismic shift in the music universe and a cultural moment in history by heralding the alternative/grunge era of the '90s and becoming one of the most iconic songs and music videos of all time. But out of all the guitars in the whole world, the Fender Mustang is my favorite. I've only owned two of them." Julien's Auctions made headlines worldwide with its sale of Kurt Cobain's "MTV Unplugged" 1959 Martin D-18E acoustic-electric guitar, which sold for $6 million in 2020 making it the world's most expensive guitar ever sold at auction and garnered Julien's its third Guinness Book of World Record placement. Over 1,300 items were sold at Julien's Auctions' "Music Icons" event this weekend at Hard Rock Cafe New York which brought in a total of nearly $15,000,000. The auction kicked off on Friday with Property From The Archives Of Alex Lifeson, the record-breaking auction house to the stars' tribute to one of the most influential music icons and guitar heroes of the progressive rock metal genre. More than 100 lots featuring signature guitars, instruments, wardrobe, gear and memorabilia owned and used by Alex Lifeson, the legendary Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame guitarist and co-founder of RUSH, one of the best-selling progressive rock groups of all time, were offered to the public for the first time and shattered all original estimates. David Draiman says that DISTURBED's upcoming album is "heavy as fuck."

The 49-year-old singer addressed the band's follow-up to 2018's "Evolution" during DISTURBED's concert last night (Saturday, May 21) at Freedom Mortgage Pavilion in Camden, New Jersey.

"We have a new record that will soon be released," David told the crowd before DISTURBED launched into the song "Voices" from the band's 2000 debut album "The Sickness". "And it's about 90 percent heavy as fuck. Now there's still 10 percent of caring, loving goodness [laughs] — 10 percent. Hey, for everybody that fell in love with 'The Sound Of Silence' [SIMON & GARFUNKEL] cover, I figured, you know… But the rest of it? 'Sickness'-, 'Ten Thousand Fists'-era DISTURBED, for sure. You excited about that? 'Cause I'll tell you we're really fucking excited about it."

Last month, DISTURBED drummer Mike Wengren told "The Mistress Carrie Podcast" that he and his bandmates are "definitely in the middle of the process" of making a new album. "We have been writing, we have been recording," he said. "I'm very excited about everything that we're coming up with right now. It's feeling great, it's sounding great."

He continued: "We don't necessarily have a definitive time frame right now [for the album's release]. Coming off two years of a pandemic, we just have been taking our time in trying to put out the best record of our careers and top everything that we've ever done before.

"I think people are gonna be pleasantly surprised when they finally get a chance to hear this," Mike added.

Wengren's comments came just days after Draiman confirmed that DISTURBED has completed recording the new LP. Prior to that, Draiman shared a since-deleted Instagram photo of a whiteboard — which appeared to have been taken in a recording studio — charting DISTURBED's progress with recording. On the board, 10 songs were listed, featuring such titles as "Hey You", "Love To Hate" and "Part Of Me". David captioned the picture: "And that's a wrap people. #HolyShitIsThisGood #epic @disturbed". Also included on the whiteboard was the guitar tuning for each track, with most of them using "Standard C#", "Drop C#" or "Drop C" tuning. One track was also recorded in "Drop A#" tuning, while another is in "Drop B".

Draiman spoke about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the new DISTURBED album during a recent appearance on "Whiplash", the KLOS radio show hosted by Full Metal Jackie. Regarding what it has been like for him and his bandmates to regroup in person after such a long time apart and once again launch the creative process, he said: "There's really nothing that replaces it. It was a continuing theme of conversation over the course of the week that we had together between our couple of shows we played in Indiana [in early November] and our performance over in Daytona for [the] Welcome To Rockville [festival]. There really is no substitute. There isn't. The energy and that realization when you've got something. Compare it to fishing, and you finally land a big one. [Laughs] It's incredibly, incredibly exciting. And we were on fire."

As for the musical direction of the new DISTURBED songs, Draiman said: "The material is somewhere between 'The Sickness' and 'Ten Thousand Fists' as far as where I would identify it as sonically. It's rhythmic, it's pummeling, it's anthemic, it's polysyncopated. It's meat-and-potatoes DISTURBED."

David also discussed DISTURBED's apparent decision to pursue a more aggressive musical approach on its next LP compared to "Evolution", on which nearly half the songs were either acoustic or semi-acoustic.

"It's a different sort of itch you're scratching," he said. "You can have the satisfaction that comes with, let's say, playing with your children peacefully somewhere and you can have a different sort of satisfaction in engaging in full-contact football with your buddies. It's just a different feel. They're both equally as gratifying but sometimes you just get a little taste more for one than the other. And right now we are definitely — we've got our teeth dug in to that style. We were dying to do the more aggressive stuff. We wanted to go back home. We wanted to go back to the 'groove so hard that you can't stop bobbing your head' kind of stuff. So, we're there, and we're loving it."

Prior to DISTURBED's appearance at the 2021 edition of Welcome To Rockville last November, Draiman told Lou Brutus of HardDrive Radio that the band will likely do things slightly differently with the upcoming release. "The way that I see it happening is we're probably not gonna put out something in the traditional full-length; we're probably gonna be doing two separate releases," he explained. "So we'll probably have one geared for release — if everything works as planned — by the fall, and then maybe something the following year as well." When Brutus asked Draiman to clarify if that means that the next DISTURBED release will be an EP, David said: "Define it what you want, but it would like five or six songs at a pop — something like that.

"We live in an environment right now and in an age where people's consumption of music has been very soundbitish and very track-driven and very single-driven," he continued. "And there's definitely some beauty towards continuing to try and [make] things like concept records and telling a long story over the duration of a series of songs — there's huge merit to that — but I think that when you write 10 songs and three of them actually get worked at radio and maybe, if you're lucky, the fans are really familiar with half the record and the rest ends up sitting on a shelf, and if you do end up pulling it out one day, it's like an obscure, weird moment during the set, and it's almost like gratuitous for yourself. I don't wanna do that anymore. I wanna make everything count. I wanna make sure that we get the biggest bang for everything we're putting out there. I think that that should be easily attainable. It seems to be where the environment is going, and it seems to be — whether we like it or not — what the digital age has funneled us into."

DISTURBED performed live for the first time in nearly two years last September as one of the headliners of the Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, Kentucky.

In March 2021, DISTURBED's "The Sickness 20th Anniversary Tour" was officially canceled. The amphitheater tour, with very special guest STAIND and BAD WOLVES, was originally slated to take place in the summer of 2020 but was rescheduled to 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic. It was eventually scrapped altogether.

"The Sickness 20th Anniversary Tour" was supposed to celebrate the 20th anniversary of DISTURBED's seminal album "The Sickness". On the tour, the band was expected to perform songs off the album, as well as tracks from "Evolution" and DISTURBED's extensive catalog.

In September 2020, DISTURBED released a cover version of Sting's 1993 single "If I Ever Lose My Faith In You".

KISS frontman Paul Stanley's R&B side project SOUL STATION performed at the wedding of celebrity chef and "Chopped" judge Chris Santos and actress Natalie Makenna on Sunday (May 22) at Calamigos Ranch in Malibu, California.

Santos is a lifelong music fan who operates the record label Blacklight Media, which he founded in 2016 in partnership with Metal Blade.

Also in attendance at yesterday's event were several other notable musicians, including David Draiman (DISTURBED),Robert "Blasko" Nicholson (OZZY OSBOURNE),Chris Broderick (IN FLAMES, ex-MEGADETH),Phil Rind (SACRED REICH),John Bush (ARMORED SAINT, ex-ANTHRAX).

Draiman shared a couple of photos of him with Stanley on Twitter and he wrote: "Great to meet and talk a little shop with the legendary @PaulStanleyLive".

The debut album from SOUL STATION was released in March 2021 via Universal Music Enterprises. A collection of nine classic soul covers and five original tracks, "Now And Then" features the band's acclaimed version of THE FIVE STAIRSTEPS' "O-o-h Child" as well as SOUL STATION's take on THE SPINNERS' "Could It Be I'm Falling In Love".

Stanley spent the last few years developing this project close to his heart. SOUL STATION is a band gathering some of today's leading musicians to pay tribute to the greatest artists and songs from the R&B and soul catalog to keep this vital music current. While a surprise to many, Stanley's early pivotal roots in this music has quietly turned this passion into a celebrated touring and recording band. Stanley's 15-piece ensemble group has toured the U.S. and Japan.

When Stanley conceived SOUL STATION, the group excelled in the live venue setting, playing smaller, intimate clubs — a setting where Paul Stanley would reflect on those classic hits that were his early inspiration, playing the songs with a reverence and respect for how he and the band believe they should be performed and heard.

Stanley's bandmembers include Rafael "Hoffa" Moreira (guitar and backing vocals),Sean Hurley (bass),Alex Alessandroni (musical director, keyboards),Ely Rise (keyboards),Eric Singer (drums and backing vocals),RayYslas (percussion),Gavyn Rhone (backing vocals),Crystal Starr (backing vocals) and Laurhan Beato (backing vocals) and Jon Pappenbrook (lead trumpet).

Guillaume Bideau, the French vocalist who fronted the Danish metal band MNEMIC from 2006 to 2013, has died at the age of 44.

Formed in 1998, MNEMIC recorded five full-length albums, three of which featured Bideau on vocals: 2007's "Passenger", 2010's "Sons Of The System" and 2012's "Mnemesis".

Bideau was also the frontman of French metal band SCARVE between 1998 and 2008, and he sang for other groups like ONE-WAY MIRROR and MELTED SPACE.

Bideau's former SCARVE bandmate Dirk Verbeuren, who is the current drummer for MEGADETH, paid tribute to Guillaume in a social media post late Tuesday night (May 24). He wrote: "Guillaume, it's with a devastated heart that I write these words. I remember our first meeting in 1999 like it was yesterday. You came to see me at my little apartment in Nancy reaching out with a fake hand, which fell to the ground when I shook it, leaving me perplexed... You were without a doubt expecting a burst of laughter. Your omnipresent humor was contagious. Even when you got angry, you were damn funny. During the recording of SCARVE's second album, you insisted that we all listen to TYPE O NEGATIVE's October Rust when going to bed, night after night, until Sylvain and I got fed up and decided to hide your CD-R... Only for you to pull out a second identical one the same evening.

"You were a brilliant, non-conformist, stubborn and tenacious artist. Beyond that, you were a true friend. You didn't hesitate to join me when I was reluctant to go on a long drive through France (we listened to the first FANTÔMAS album on repeat). At my wedding in 2006, your presence and exuberant personality remain among my fondest memories. You didn't care what other people said. You did what you wanted and you lived your own way.

"I'm gonna miss you terribly, my friend... Rest in peace."

Former MNEMIC guitarist Mircea Gabriel Eftemie also remembered Guillaume, writing: "Words can not describe how I feel. I am devastated and extremely saddened by the passing of my friend and old band member, Guillaume Bideau.

"Everything we've experienced and laughed at together throughout the years, the crazy shenanigans, the parties, the fights, the travels, the struggle for success - are all the memories I will cherish forever. You where a unique character, a visionary and true artist with a big heart. You made us all laugh and you touched our lives with your music. I can not believe you are now gone…

"My thoughts go to his family, and the many friends all around the world.

"I will forever miss you.

"Rest in peace Guillaume."
