ALDO NOVA Debuts Official Music Video For New Song "Free Your Mind" Feat. JACK FROSTMulti-platinum Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, producer, guitarist, and multi-instrumentalist, Aldo Nova, has set April 1 as the release date for the first chapter of his larger-than-life rock opera, a 10-song EP titled The Life And Times Of Eddie Gage.
An official music video for the first single, "Free Your Mind", can be viewed below. Says Aldo: "Here is the official video for 'Free Your Mind' featuring Jack Frost on guitar, Dario Seixas on bass, Ange E. Curcio on drums, and me of course."
In addition to the The Life And Times Of Eddie Gage EP, the iconic Montreal maverick will subsequently release the triple disc Aldo Nova 2.0 Reloaded on April 19. It will feature 2.0 versions of nine classic songs from Aldo’s catalog, plus another disc with no lead vocal track and a third disc with no lead guitar track so fans can either sing along or play along with him.
Up first this year for Aldo - who has spent more than four decades in music with dozens of classic songs and hundreds of shows - is the release of the first 10 tracks (nine songs, one bonus cut) from The Life And Times Of Eddie Gage rock opera. It tells the story of Eddie Gage, a prodigious ingénue who breaks into the music industry only to be preyed upon by a nefarious suit Andy Christos, manipulated by a corporate overlord M.F. Stophalis, and tempted by a succubus Rati Ayida. Drugs, alcohol, and excess plunge him into despair until he realizes redemption on his own terms. Look for the newly released “Free Your Mind” single available now everywhere. Listen here, and below. The song is a high-energy rocker packed with Aldo’s thunderous guitar work, soaring vocals and lyrics about fictional rocker Eddie Gage.
Aldo explains, “The date is July the 1st of 1982, when only three months after the release of his 1st album, simply titled Eddie Gage, Eddie has achieved superstar status. This is him playing in front of 10,000 fans and singing about the fact that it’s time for people to expand their minds towards a more spiritual side of reality because society has become corrupt, a direction that his record company, Daedalus Records did not want him to take. The lyrics say it all, and Eddie and his band show a level of musicianship far above the norm.
The musical journey of The Life And Times Of Eddie Gage began in 2008, when Aldo started to assemble what would become 25 songs (which Aldo will eventually release). Throughout the work, Aldo distills his often-unbelievable musical journey into the allegory of the rock opera, which he wrote, produced, arranged, engineered, and mixed entirely. The recording includes a 40-piece orchestra, a full gospel choir, Lee Levin on drums and mastering from the legendary Bob Ludwig. In addition, a one song bonus disc will accompany the collection with the soaring instrumental song "Les Anges.”
“I feel really comfortable in my own skin, and my music is who I am,” Aldo says. “The record was done from pure inspiration he says, I felt like was connected somewhere. I was truly channeling some place away from myself. It was almost as if something above connected to me and gave me these songs.”
Following the release of The Life And Times Of Eddie Gage, Aldo will turn the page on the next chapter of this story with the three-disc Aldo Nova 2.0 Reloaded. The three-disc recording features nine classics from his catalog new recordings - not only as the 2.0 versions of the songs, but also as alternate versions with no lead vocal track and another with no lead guitar track so fans can finally either sing along or play with him.
“Nobody’s ever done this,” Aldo says. “You can basically sing with me as your backing band or play along as a backing track. No other artist has given his tracks to fans in this way. I want to encourage kids to improvise and learn. You can play the record if you want, or you can be a part of it. It’s a new concept.”
Ultimately, Aldo is no stranger to new concepts, and he continues to break ground.
“When you hear any of this, I want you to feel like I took it to another level,” he leaves off. “I didn’t just come back and do the same thing. I didn’t stay stagnant. I’m sixty-five-years-old, but I feel like I’m thirty-years-old. I’m bringing everything to a whole new universe. I’m comfortable. I’m happy in my independence. I am who I am. I’m Aldo Nova, because my real name is too hard to say,” he laughs.

BLACK VEIL BRIDES' ANDY BIERSACK Addresses Controversy Over New SUPERMAN Coming Out As BisexualBLACK VEIL BRIDES frontman Andy Biersack recently went on the first video episode of the podcast "Side Jams With Bryan Reesman" to discuss his love for Batman. He mentioned that two his favorite subjects are Batman and theology. He connected the two in explaining how the superhero was a big influence on him growing up.
"This is not to be political or to be dismissive of any kind of religion, but for me, as someone who's non-theistic, I had these heroes like Batman who [were] a reference point for parables or tales of how to live your life," said Biersack. "The thing that impacted me the most as a kid was, create something more of yourself. Even if you're afraid, even if people don't respect you or like you or make fun of you – make something that you're really proud of and wear that outside so that you can eventually become that thing that you want to be. As a teenager and as a kid growing up, wearing my MISFITS shirts and eyeliner, and everybody's throwing stuff at me and making fun of me at school in Ohio, I felt like that was my Batsuit. That was the thing that, regardless of what anybody else thought about it, that was how I projected myself to the world. And that was my giant cape and pointy ears. It was the thing that I thought, 'I don't care if they're freaked out by me or whatever it is. I'm gonna use this as my iconography, the way that I see the world.' And so, in many other ways, just the self-belief, the idea of making something of yourself, not having superpowers. I was not born with a beautiful singing voice. I never opened my mouth and sang in a beautiful soprano voice or a tenor voice, but I figured I could teach myself how to do something that I liked the way it sounded. And I didn't need superpowers to do that. So there's many, many ways that that character has been influential."
When asked about his favorite Christopher Nolan "Batman" movie, he replied: "It's so bizarre because Christian Bale is not my favorite Batman. I don't really like the suit. But I love those three movies so much — the totality of them. My least favorite is 'Batman Begins'. That tends to be everyone's favorite who are Batman fans. 'Dark Knight' is obviously the most famous of the series and one of the most successful movies of all time. But if you talk to dedicated Batman fans, they all say 'Batman Begins' is the best. I really like the third one the most because we go back to my entry point into Batman was 'Knightfall'. That is the 'Knightfall' movie. That's Bane breaking down Batman, breaking his back. I got to see the shot in a live action movie of Bane been holding up Bruce Wayne and breaking his spine, just like on the cover of the first comic book I ever got as a kid. So for me personally, even though ['Dark Knight] Rises' is not seen as the greatest film, I fucking love it. I'll watch it every day."
Biersack also addressed the controversy with some Superman fans over the fact that Kal-El's son recently came out as bisexual.
"The thing that I never understand is the fervor and anger that people have giving people an opportunity to see themselves in these characters that we've loved forever," he said. "Why not have an opportunity for someone who loves this character to see something of themselves in it? It boggles my mind that it would ever change your interpretation of the character for someone else to get to feel more close to them. There's a million different iterations of all these characters. Why not allow people to have the opportunity to be reflected and feel some representation there?"
Tom Taylor, who wrote the November 9, 2021 issue of "Superman: Son Of Kal-El" in which Clark Kent's son, Jon Kent, comes out as bisexual, said in a statement: "I've always said everyone needs heroes and everyone deserves to see themselves in their heroes, and I'm very grateful DC and Warner Bros. share this idea.
"Superman's symbol has always stood for hope, for truth and for justice. Today, that symbol represents something more. Today, more people can see themselves in the most powerful superhero in comics."
Not everybody has been happy with DC Comics' decision to have a bisexual Superman. Arizona senator Wendy Rogers came out against the move, saying, "Hollywood is trying to make Superman gay and he is not." Additionally, actor Dean Cain, known for roles on "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures Of Superman" and the CW's "Supergirl", condemned the decision and accused DC Comics of "bandwagoning."
BLACK VEIL BRIDES' latest album, "The Phantom Tomorrow", was released in October via Sumerian Records. 29

TONY MARTIN Believes There's Still An 'Opportunity' For BLACK SABBATH To Do Something With BILL WARDFormer BLACK SABBATH singer Tony Martin, who sang on six of the band's albums in the late 1980s and early 1990s, was asked in a new interview with Sakis Fragos of Rock Hard Greece if he had an inkling he would be fired after the release of 1995's "Forbidden" in order to allow guitarist Tony Iommi to reunite with SABBATH's fellow original members. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I asked Tony directly. I said, 'Are you guys planning to do something with Ozzy [Osbourne] again?' I said, 'Just tell me so then I can plan what I'm gonna do.' He said, 'No, no, no, no. It's all just rumors.' Yeah, right. Everybody's talking in the business about it. My manager had told me. So I kind of knew it was coming; I just didn't know when. I don't think they really knew when. But they sort of denied it and denied it. But then it was gonna happen anyway."
Martin continued: "To be honest, I think getting Ozzy back after that, that was the right thing to do. It couldn't go anywhere else. They couldn't get another singer and start again. I think it was the right thing to do. And I still think there's an opportunity out there for them, because they're all still alive. Bill [Ward, original SABBATH drummer] is still out there. And if you think about what DEF LEPPARD did with their drummer. They've got a one-armed drummer, DEF LEPPARD, and they waited until they got a drum kit and he could play with one hand. If they can do that for a one-armed drummer, it's possible they could do something with Bill. It's just time. That's all, really. So I still think there's an opportunity there."
Bill was on board for the SABBATH reunion when it was first announced more than 10 years ago but backed out soon after. The drummer later claimed that he sat out the recording and touring sessions because of unfair contractual terms, although the members of SABBATH have hinted in other interviews that he wasn't physically up to the task.
All four original members of SABBATH were present when the band announced its reunion in late 2011. But Ward split from the group in 2012, citing an "unsignable" contract, and Osbourne, Iommi and bassist Geezer Butler carried on with their Rick Rubin–produced "13" LP and extensive international touring without him.
Last March, Bill admitted to SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk" that he no longer had the "chops" and the "ability" to perform with BLACK SABBATH. "I have to be back to 60 years old to be able to do that," he said.
Martin recently confirmed that a new record deal has been secured to reissue the albums he recorded with SABBATH: "The Eternal Idol" (1987), "Headless Cross" (1989), "Tyr" (1990), "Cross Purposes" (1994), "Cross Purposes Live" (1995) and "Forbidden" (1995).
Six years ago, Iommi told I Heart Guitar that "it's a shame" that "it took a lot for people to accept" Martin as SABBATH's vocalist. "It's taken all these years later for people to say, 'Oh blimey, that was a good band with good singing.' So it took a long time to get people to really realize how good it was."
In 2018, Iommi spent time in the studio remixing "Forbidden" for a future release. The LP, which features Martin, drummer Cozy Powell and bassist Neil Murray, is often regarded as SABBATH's worst studio recording.
Martin's new solo album, "Thorns", arrived on January 14 via Battlegod Productions and Dark Star Records. 10

SILENT SKIES Featuring TOM S. ENGLUND And VIKRAM SHANKAR - Nectar Album Unboxed; VideoSilent Skies, the cinematic ambient project of Evergrey’s Tom S. Englund and classically trained pianist and composer Vikram Shankar (Redemption), will release their second studio album, Nectar, on February 4 via Napalm Records. Watch an unboxing video below:
In 2017, the paths of Swedish progressive band Evergrey's vocalist Tom S. Englund and multi-instrumentalist Vikram Shankar crossed fatefully. Both artists set themselves free from limitations to captivate their listener with Nectar - a soulful ten-track offering, produced by Englund and Shankar themselves and mixed/mastered by Jacob Hansen at Hansen Studios.
Silent Skies on the new album: “We are tremendously proud to announce our second record, Nectar, will be released on February 4th, 2022. Nectar represents an expansion and an elevation of all things that make us who we are; simultaneously grander and more intimate, more futuristic yet more organic and thoughtful. This record represents who we are, and it means so much to both of us, that we cannot wait for you to experience it.”
With Gothenburg’s Evergrey known as one of the most prolific bands in progressive metal, Englund is by far no stranger to the scene. After partnering with North Carolina, USA-based piano player Vikram Shankar – who had already worked with greats like Anneke van Giersbergen – this fateful encounter, now known as Silent Skies, set its first milestone with the release of their spine-tingling debut Satellites back in 2020. Two years later, this fruitful collaboration returns with Nectar, marking the sequel of something that’s far more than just a side project of Englund’s. Rather, it’s the brainchild of two highly talented individual artists with deep knowledge and many years of experience, whose creativity and spirit culminates in an exceptional form of musical expression. Shankar’s sensitive yet intense piano tunes merge with the poignant vocal interpretation of Tom S. Englund to take the listener on a touching, melancholic ride that wanders through the darkest facets of life, while always leaving a spark of hope to hold on to. This otherworldly sonic collaboration is graced by the outstanding contributions of Leprous' cello player Raphael Weinroth-Browne, who appears on nearly every track of the album to spice up the stirring sound even more.
Silent Skies’ sophomore full-length sets off with the soulful, ethereal “Fallen From Heart”, immediately creating a tapestry of sound to get lost in. Tracks like delicate “Taper” and shimmering “Neverending” are dominated by the yearning vocals of Englund, but never fail to give Shankar’s instrumental virtuosity the well-deserved space to shine bright like the first sunray welcoming the day. Beautifully honest “Let It Hurt” addicts with its remarkable chorus hitting on point, blending cinematic strings and piano with hooky modern vocals. Darker realms lure with heart-breaking “Leaving”, combining gloomy ambient and infectious pop influences, and dramatically accented, heart-beating “Cold”, with its lingering electronic elements that build a tangible, gripping maelstrom of emotions. Instrumental title track “Nectar” closes this new chapter of Silent Skies but leaves its audience with a long-lasting impact and the key to a door that’s worth entering over and over again.
Nectar will be available in the following formats:
- 6p Digisleeve
- 2LP Gatefold Black
- Digital Album

PERSEFONE Release New Single "Architecture Of The I"; Lyric VideoAndorra’s extreme progressive metal unit, Persefone, have returned with the next single from their upcoming album, metanoia, entering the last round before its long-awaited release this Friday.
The third single, “Architecture Of The I”, features grim growling, sharp screams and technically precise riffing - creating dark sound walls that alternate with calmer atmospheric parts underlined with electronic elements - once again showcasing the band’s variety in just one epic song. Underlining this opus of sound is a mesmerizing visualizer video that enters another universe - just a sneak peak of what’s to come with their new album metanoia.
Says the band: “‘Architecture Of The I’ represents one of the most progressive songs on metanoia. On this track, we really let the song come alive as we were writing, and because of that, the listener will find in there a huge dynamic range from one of the most fast and heavy riffs in the whole album, to some of the most introspective passages. This song has been a challenge for us to write and perform, and we are sure that it will also present a challenge for the listener to keep track with its particular pace and structure. Now it's up to you to find the purpose of all those notes within the album. The stunning video was created by our guitar player Filipe and his partner K (DeadFlag Studios and Gráfica de Ferro).”
Persefone are known for technical precision at its highest levels, and with their newest single, “Katabasis” - out today alongside an astounding new music video created with the support of SDADV - draw dramatic, cinematic soundscapes mixed with electronic influences. The soft, clear vocals of Marc Martins alternate with sharp growls and bleak yet dynamic riffs. This ride ties in with the well-received first single “Merkabah” and leaves you anxiously awaiting Persefone’s upcoming album, metanoia, out on February 4.
Persefone on “Katabasis”: “"Katabasis" stands as the opening track of the new album and marks an important event when it comes to the concept of metanoia, as it led us to the depths of the being. This song displays many of the elements that can be heard throughout the album, and we hope that it welcomes the listener to the journey we want to offer with all this new music.”
Persefone is known for their brand of rich soundscapes and technically precise work, setting new standards in modern extreme progressive metal. Founded in 2001, Persefone has released five studio albums, each showcasing the band’s myriad of musical principles: high technicality, distinct melodies, plenty of head-turning riffs and musical acrobatics. The band has toured worldwide with notable acts like Obituary and Leprous, has hit stages at important festivals such as Wacken Open Air, Metal Days, Brutal Assault, ProgPower and 70,000 Tons of Metal, and is now set to release their new album, metanoia!
Featuring collaborations with standout artists like Steffen Kummerer (Obscura, Thulcandra), Einar Solberg (Leprous), Angel Vivaldi and Merethe Soltvedt (Two Steps From Hell), metanoia exploits the full potential of contrasts in every song, with each track representing a story evolving from beginning to end and constantly growing in strength - redefining typical musical boundaries. Mixed by David Castillo (Leprous, Soen, Opeth) and mastered by Tony Lindgren (Enslaved, Ihsahn, Sepultura), the new full-length stretches over 10 songs, each appearing to glide seamlessly from one to the next.
metanoia sets off with the opulent opener “Katabasis”, drawing dramatic, cinematic soundscapes mixed with electronic influences. The soft, clear vocals of Miguel Espinosa alternate with sharp growls and pierce through constantly changing riffs. Persefone balances soft passages with intense walls of sound on tracks like “Aware of Being Watched” – in which clean vocals and jazzy sections alternate with intense riffing carried by dense drumming – while solid, rich sound takes on orchestral dimensions on songs such as “Leap of Faith”. Vivid and dynamic instrumentation, tempo and rhythm make up the intense ride “Merkabah”, showcasing the band’s hardest yet most vulnerable sides as screams and blast beats are followed by soft instrumentation – spanning the song’s intensity to its maximum. A special surprise is the 11-minute masterpiece “Consciousness Pt III”, which continues a series of songs from the band’s fourth album Spiritual Migration (2013). The album closes with another opulent set of songs, “Anabasis Part I”, “Anabasis Part II” and “Anabasis Part III”. “Anabasis Part I” starts off with calm, dreamy piano sounds, drifting over to the intense “Anabasis Part II” and leading seamlessly into “Anabasis Part III”, gently closing the album with a cinematic outro.
Persefone about the new album: “metanoia is the next step in our personal pursuit for existential growth through music. This album is a call for a deep change, a call for an inner journey through fear and pain, a call for a leap into a meaningful and rooted place. Making this album has forced us to face many musical and personal hurdles and fears, and the result of that confrontation lives within all the notes and words captured on this new chapter in our journey. May you will find meaning in all this musical chaos.”
metanoia will be available in the following formats:
- Digipack
- 2LP Gatefold Black
- 2LP Gatefold Clear (incl. Slipmat & Logopatch)

DEATH DEALER To Release Fuel Injected Suicide Machine EP; Title Track Lyric Video StreamingDeath Dealer has announced the upcoming release of a new EP, titled Fuel Injected Suicide Machine (the second Steel Cartel Records product to implement the variant cover art vinyl product).
The band features Ross The Boss (ex-Manowar, Ross The Boss Band, Dictators), Sean Peck (Cage, The Three Tremors, Denner/Shermann, Warrior), Mike Lepond (Symphony X, Steel Assasins), Stu Marshall (Dungeon, Night Legion, Arkenstone), and Steve Bolognese (Ross The Boss, Into Eternity) and is coming off of their successful third full-length release of the award-winning album, Conquered Lands.
The new EP release features four new songs of pure heavy metal goodness, and stunning cover artwork by Marc Sasso (Dio, Halford, Adrenaline Mob, Cage) and is being released on vinyl and digipak on February 25 worldwide via Steel Cartel Records. Pre-order here.
The digipak and vinyl versions both have an additional Free Steel Cartel Sampler CD with 11 tracks from such bands as Cage, Snowy Shaw, The Three Tremors, Sledd, Seventrain, Refexicon, Monarch, Spiritual Sickness and others. Many of the tracks on the sampler are new and unreleased. Each track has an introduction recorded by one of the corresponding band members and they are hilariously entertaining.
The title track can be heard below via an insane lyric video that really sets the tone for the entire 4-song journey. The theme of the record harkens back to the Mad Max series of movies and tales of survival in a dystopian future.
Mike Lepond said “We had such a powerful positive reaction from our last record, that we felt we should get something out sooner rather than later. We had so much material written and recorded that were able to get an EP ready that is amazing sounding.”
Sean followed up by saying “I am really stoked on how the EP came out it is a great mix of heavy speed songs and classic Death Dealer mid-tempo head bangers too. The packaging again is stunning looking with custom artwork everywhere and some cool new collector’s elements we have included in the pre-order options.”
Stu Marshall said “We stayed extremely busy during all the COVID bullshit and I happy to formally announce not only is the EP here now, and the songs on the EP will NOT appear on any upcoming releases, but the 4th album is completely done and the 5th album is almost finished as well. Haaa,it was crazy how the lads and I really grinded out what I feel is our finest metal to date during that period. After all we had plenty of time on our hands so why not make more heavy metal?”
Ross The Boss chimed in about the release. “Once again we are focusing on the metal fans out there that love the music and support what we do. There will only be one song from the EP that hits the streaming platforms so this will not be on Spotify or any of that other shit. We put our hearts and souls into rock and roll and we got a tremendous amount of support for that stance we took on our last record, both from the fans that bought our stuff and the press that respected us for not just giving it away. Heavy Metal fans treat the music and physical product like a cherished thing of value to hold in your hands and collect. So this time, same thing we will give you the first track free but we are focused and embrace the hard-cores that support us by buying the albums.”
As usual, Steel Cartel has constructed some amazing pre-order package combinations that are targeted to the heavy metal freak in all of us and the hard-core collectors. The Ruler Of The Wasteland packages include digi-pak and vinyl combinations with two options for the vinyl colors, a custom Death Dealer metal key chain, band sketch print, and two insane t-shirt designs. And as usual there is a “Gotta Have it All” package that has a version of everything included for the ultimate collector. In addition, all Ruler Of The Wasteland packs will get two brand new, surprise cover tracks emailed to them for free! In addition, all pre-order packages will receive two secret, never to be released cover tracks done by the band both heavy metal classics, but to discover which songs they are you will have to grab a bundle. Like all Steel Cartel products, only the video single will hit the streaming platforms, the rest will remain on physical product only.
Steel Cartel is also implementing a new concept for their vinyl releases, borrowed from the comic-book industry which is the addition of “Variant” cover artwork. The Death Dealer EP will be the first product from Steel Cartel to implement this. The 1 in 5 cover artwork shown above will be an option available for purchase in the store here. That means that for every 5 vinyls pressed, 1 of the variant covers is made, making it a rare collectible.

DESTRUCTION Release Video From Diabolical Studio SessionsGerman thrash metal veterans, Destruction, celebrate their 40th anniversary by setting the world ablaze with a new, hard-hitting grenade in the form of their new album, Diabolical, out April 8 via Napalm Records.
Destruction have released the new video below, stating: "We have made a little clip with some impressions from the recording session of the new album at Little Creek Studio in Switzerland for you folks!"
Singer/bassist Schmier on the recording of Diabolical: "This was the most fun we had working on a record in a very long time and you can hear that. Yes. it was theoretically a difficult album but we did not think this way while we recorded it. We just followed our emotions, jammed and rocked out with a strong gut feeling! This recording was like a therapy to me, we all know how difficult the times are at the moment. So I m super happy how everything turned out!"
Guitar shredder Damir adds: "It was a real honor for me to record this album. The studio work for Diabolical was very spontaneous and we had a lot of fun creating these dynamic, multifaceted and brutal but diverse songs. I loved every second working on this record!“
The new single and video, "No Faith in Humanity", will be released in late February.
As one of the most legendary German thrash metal bands in existence, Destruction grace the wall of fame alongside giants like Kreator, Sodom and Tankard. On their 15th studio record, Destruction brings out heavy artillery full of honest and uncompromising thrash metal, catapulting you straight into the seventh heaven of metallic bliss and causing a massacre of razor-sharp sound no fan of the genre should miss.
After the charging start of opener "Under The Spell", Destruction shows no mercy on title track "Diabolical", with raging drums, bloodthirsty riffs and hellish vocals that sink deep down into your bones. "No Faith In Humanity" relentlessly rages on with non-stop headbanging action, while Destruction continues to smash eardrums on "Hope Dies Last" - providing unbeatable brutality with unstoppable speed, destructive verses and screeching voices. "Tormented Soul", on the other hand, is loaded with proper heavy metal and explosive drums. The grand finale of the 47-minute parade of devastation is provided by cover track "City Baby Attacked By Rats", originally by GBH, guaranteeing whiplash by combining rough hardcore punk with brute thrash metal.
Destruction riff killer Furia about the new record: “Diabolical is an album of extremes, everything is more brutal and more technical but at the same time more melodic and to the point. It's a pure and devastating Destruction album with no gimmicks, full of power and adrenaline. I'm excited for what the future is bringing and can't wait to play the new songs live!”
Diabolical will be available in various formats in different territories, including a digital album and CD (bundled with a t-shirt + an exclusive “Mad Butcher”-bust), 1LP gatefold editions in black, crystal clear and marbled yellow/red. Pre-order here.

BLACKTOP MOJO - Guitarist RYAN KIEFER Will Not Be ReturningIn September 2021, just prior to embarking on their Somethin' Wicked Tour, Blacktop Mojo made the following announcement:
"Due to personal reasons, (guitarist) Ryan Kiefer will not be joining us on our fall tour. Ryan is still and will always be a member of this band. We ask that you respect his privacy at this time.
Stepping up in his place for these shows will be our good friend Malcolm Booher. Please give him a warm welcome, as he has worked his ass off to fill Ryan’s shoes for us on the stage!"
Earlier today, February 1, 2022, Ryan Kiefer issued the following statement via social media:
“My dear friends,
It’s with a very heavy heart I inform you that I will not be returning to Blacktop Mojo.
This whole journey with the boys has been a great one and I want to thank you guys so much for the support all these years and helping us succeed. I wish you all the best! Please keep supporting and spreading The Mojo love around the world.
Stay safe and stay healthy!”
Blacktop Mojo commented:
"While this has been a difficult transition for all of us, there’s absolutely no bad blood here and there won’t ever be. We love and appreciate our brother Kiefer for all the years of creating together, goofing off together, sharing experiences both good and bad, all the lessons we learned as we grew up together, the sacrifices we made together, and the life-long memories made while we lived together. As this was a personal decision, we ask that moving forward, everyone please respect his privacy.
Thank you for everything brother! May you be blessed in all that you do moving forward! We’ll be cheering you on."
Vocalist Matt James chimed in personally saying:
"Ryan Kiefer, it was an honor to see all the things we saw, do all the things we did, and laugh at all the dumb things we laughed at together while you were in this band.
Now that your job title’s a little different, I’m sure we have plenty more to see, plenty more to do, and plenty more to laugh at together because that ain’t ever gonna change. Love ya bud."
Drummer Nathan Gillis offered the following:
"The thing that makes you great is that you’re much more than a band mate, and the silver lining to it all is this doesn’t change that. Love you Kiefer , it was an honor."

Blacktop Mojo recently issued a lyric video for their brand new, stand-alone single, "Strike Me". The song is available to stream now at this location.
"‘Strike Me’ was recorded in our sessions for our self-titled album (released in 2021) at Sound Emporium in Nashville, TN and we had the privilege to add the background singing of the world famous McCrary Sisters on the track, who were an honor to work with. It was our first time bringing in outside background singing," says Blacktop Mojo vocalist Matt James.
“The song is a sardonic answer to living through the great many turmoils we’ve all dealt with, especially in the last two years. It’s essentially us observing the world around us and exclaiming, ‘I’m coming, Elizabeth!’ to quote the late, great Redd Foxx.”

MEAT LOAF - Bat Out Of Hell Album Returns To #1 On Australian Charts 44 Years LaterAustralia's Triple M is reporting that Meat Loaf has made Australian chart history from beyond the grave with Bat Out Of Hell, his iconic 1977 album, which soared back to #1 on the ARIA chart this week following the shock news of the singer's death. The album was last at #1 in August 1978.
That means the 44 year (or 2,269 week) gap between Bat Out of Hell being #1 in Australia is a new chart record. It was previously held by the Grease soundtrack which was #1 in November 1978 and then again in June 1991.
Read the complete report here.
Legendary rock singer and actor, Meat Loaf (real name Marvin Lee Aday), passed away at the age of 74 on January 20th. The sad news was shared via the official Meat Loaf Facebook page.
The message states: "Our hearts are broken to announce that the incomparable Meat Loaf passed away tonight surrounded by his wife Deborah, daughters Pearl and Amanda and close friends.
"His amazing career spanned 6 decades that saw him sell over 100 Million albums worldwide and star in over 65 movies, including Fight Club, Focus, Rocky Horror Picture Show and Wayne’s World.
"Bat Out of Hell remains one of the top 10 selling albums of all time.
"We know how much he meant to so many of you and we truly appreciate all of the love and support as we move through this time of grief in losing such an inspiring artist and beautiful man.
"We thank you for your understanding of our need for privacy at this time.
"From his heart to your souls… don’t ever stop rocking!"
Jim Steinman, the composer, lyricist and record producer who worked with Meat Loaf, passed away on April 19, 2021. Steinman composed Meat Loaf’s debut album, Bat Out Of Hell, in 1977, which is one of the best-selling albums of all time with more than 50 million copies sold around the world. Steinman collaborated with Meat Loaf on the singer’s 1981 album Dead Ringer, served as composer/producer on his 1993 album Bat Out Of Hell II: Back Into Hell, and composed his 2016 Braver Than We Are album.

AUTOGRAPH Signs With Frontiers Music SrlFrontiers Music Srl welcomes legendary '80s hard rockers Autograph to the roster. The band, featuring vocalist Simon Daniels, guitarist Jimi Bell, bassist Randy Rand, and drummer Marc Wieland, are currently working on material for a new studio album.
"Exciting news for Autograph! We are pleased to announce the upcoming release of a new studio album with Frontiers Music Srl. We are looking forward to introducing our newest collection of hard rock music across the globe. A very special thank you to Serafino, Mario, and the entire Frontiers Family." - Autograph
Autograph, whose hit 'Turn Up The Radio' was a staple of the hard rock soundtrack of the '80s, disbanded in 1989, but in 2011, founding members bassist Randy Rand and guitarist Steve Lynch decided to meet up at the NAMM show in Anaheim, CA. They rekindled their friendship first before even thinking about a musical reunion. With their personal relationship rebuilt, they made a collective decision to play again. “We approached our original singer Steve Plunkett about a reunion,” recalls Rand. “He didn’t have the time to join the band again due to his busy schedule. He did give us his blessing to move forward though, and that was important. We missed our fans. This is for them.”
Fully embracing the future, the remaining members begin a search for a new singer. They discovered some videos of singer/guitarist/songwriter Simon Daniels (of Jailhouse, Flood, 1RKO) on YouTube and instantly, they sensed a connection and knew that he was the right fit for the band. “He was perfect to front Autograph," smiles Rand. "His hard-edged, bluesy voice and massive riffing sharpen our edge. He’s given us a new energy, and he impressed us immediately. We all had a euphoric feeling after the first rehearsal,” Rand adds.
Rand says that during his long-lived career, he has only loved playing with two drummers; one is the great late Randy Castillo, and then there is Autograph's new drummer Marc Wieland. As Rand puts it, “We’re heavier than before. At the same time, the melodic vocals and catchy hooks are still an integral part of our sound.”
In 2019, Lynch decided to leave the group to pursue different musical styles and was replaced by international monster shredder guitarist Jimi Bell (House of Lords, Maxx Explosion). The band hasn't skipped a beat since and is ready to continue their rock n' roll journey on their next studio album.
Autograph, the platinum-selling Southern California hard rock band who gave the world the ubiquitous hit 'Turn Up The Radio', has released seminal albums such as "Sign In Please" [1984], "That’s The Stuff" [1985], and "Loud and Clear" [1987]. Over the course of their career, they have played shows with everybody from Mötley Crüe and Ronnie James Dio to Van Halen and Aerosmith. Successfully touring again since the beginning of 2014, Autograph has strived and shined at arenas, casinos, major music festivals such as M3, Monsters of Rock Cruise, The Moondance Jam, 80’s in the Park, Grand Rock Tember, Cat Club Festival at Irvine Meadows, and Firefest UK, among others. In 2017, Autograph released a new album on ex-Megadeth member David Ellefson's EMP Label Group, hitting # 21 on the Billboard Classic Rock Sales Chart, as well as placing two new singles on the top 10 Hard Rock Mediabase Radio Chart.

ANALEPSY Shares Music Video For "Locus Of Dawning"Slam death metal artist Analepsy has shared a music video for their new single "Locus Of Dawning", which foreshadows the Portuguese band's upcoming album, Quiescence.
The vinyl version of Quiescence will be issued on May 27th through Agonia Records. The album will be released on CD, MC and digital formats on April 15th via Miasma Records and Vomit Your Shirt. Pre-orders can be placed now at this location.
Quiescence continues the space motif from Analepsy’s previous releases, but from a different perspective. There are no living creatures, only the deserted cosmos awaiting its own demise. The album features guest appearances from Ricky Myers (Suffocation, Disgorge), Angel Ochoa (Cephalotripsy, Disgorge, Abominable Putridity, Condemned) and Wilson Ng (Facelift Deformation, Vermicular Incubation).
The band commented: "We are delighted to present our most recent work: Quiescence! This has been a tight process, and despite all the changes the band went through, everything worked like clockwork. The essence of our music lives on!"
The recordings of Quiescence took three months (August - October, 2021), entailing the skills of guitarist/co-founder Marco Martins, guitarist/vocalist Calin Paraschiv (ex-Pestilence), bassist João Jacinto and ex-drummer Tiago Correia. The album was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Miguel Tereso at Demigod Recordings studio in Caxarias, Portugal. The cover artwork was created by Pedro Sena - Lordigan.
Tracklisting:
"Locus Of Dawning"
"Impending Subversion"
"Elapsing Permanence" (featuring Wilson Ng)
"Accretion Collision"
"Stretched And Devoured" (featuring Angel Ochoa)
"Converse Condition"
"Fractured Continuum"
"Spasmodic Dissonance" (featuring Ricky Myers)
"Edge Of Chaos"
"Quiescence" (Instrumental)
Analepsy's sound can be described as a crossover between old-school brutal death metal and modern melodic elements. The correct pronunciation of the name of the band is "uh-nuh-leh-psy" [ʌnʌlepsy], and it was chosen due to its (now obsolete) meaning: recovery of strength after an illness.

AGARTHIC Release Lyric Video For New Song "Illuminati's Reign"Frontiers Music Srl recently released The Inner Side, the debut album from Italian symphonic metal band, Agarthic. Check out a lyric video for the song, "Illuminati's Reign", below.
The Inner Side was recorded under the direction of producer Aldo Lonobile (Secret Sphere, Archon Angel, Timo Tolkki’s Avalon, etc.). Order/save The Inner Side here.
Based in Northern Italy, Agarthic was founded in 2019 by composer and bassist Mattia Gosetti and vocalist Valeriano De Zordo. The two musicians, tied by a strong friendship, had already worked together several times over the past years, but mostly just some shows and theatrical performances and never a proper band.
"As a big fan of rock and metal music, I've always followed with great enthusiasm the release of albums by labels. I remember reading album booklets when I was just a kid, dreaming to see my name printed on one of those one day... who would have ever imagined that happening with one of the most important labels of today?" says vocalist Valeriano De Zordo. "For several years, I've been really interested in knowing all the ancient legends and mysteries about the forgotten history of our planet, especially the theories about the hollow earth. I've always been fascinated by it. And when this chance to make an album was offered, the task was quite easy....all I had to do was to combine my two major passions and turn all these themes finally into music!" continues De Zordo.
Adds composer and bassist Mattia Gosetti, "My greatest passion is to write musical stories, to create soundtracks for romantic adventures and fascinating places. I am really proud to have been noticed by a successful label like Frontiers Music, in whose roster there are many of the most famous bands in the world. The enthusiasm for the signing of the contract and the collaboration with Aldo Lonobile, an artist that I have always esteemed and admired, has been fundamental for the realization of this symphonic metal concept. I am experiencing an artistic growth that I would have never hoped for and I will never be grateful enough for all this.”
Valeriano has been active in several bands in the area of Belluno, singing both covers and original music, which brought him recognition thanks to his melodic timbre and great ability as a performer.
Mattia is a symphonic rock composer, with his works mostly dedicated to the history of land located on the Alps, musical tales that he often presents in theater settings. His deep passion for symphonic rock has always been apparent, but in particular when he and his wife won the "Elan Cover Contest”, an international competition organized by Nightwish.
The band's line up is rounded out by two other talented Italian musicians, Jesai Fiabane on guitar and Denis Novello on drums.
Agarthic's music is strongly inspired by the nature that surrounds them, in particular by the Dolomites, a mountain range in Italy. Their compositions tell stories of fantasy and mysteries of humanity, a romantic and enveloping soundtrack that will take you on a thrilling journey with cinematic flavor.
