Watch an unboxing video for the deluxe box set:
When it comes to modern heavy metal, there are few bands operating at the same level as Portrait. For a decade and a half, the Swedish unit have been forging their own path, and in the process, infusing life into a longstanding, well-established genre and taking it in new directions. Following up 2017's acclaimed Burn The World, they return with the mighty At One With None, which was recorded at JFK Studios in Kristianstad, Sweden with Tommy Hansen (Helloween, Hatesphere) handling the mixing. While Portrait fans will immediately recognize it as the work of their heroes, they are not simply rehashing old ideas and treading where they have before.
"One simple 'rule' that I have had personally is that no song written for this album and onwards should be similar to any song that we have already written and released. We have been doing this for 15 years now, and I am proud to say that I think we have managed to find our own identity and sound, which can't really be said about that many bands today. This is our greatest achievement, and the goal is to keep exploring and developing our own sound, without repeating ourselves." The results of working with this philosophy are undeniable, making for an essential addition to the Portrait canon.

GOV'T MULE To Release Heavy Load Blues Album In November; "Heavy Load" Single StreamingRenowned quartet, Gov’t Mule – led by Grammy Award-winning vocalist, songwriter, guitar legend, and producer, Warren Haynes – has announced their first-ever blues album, Heavy Load Blues, and released the first original track off the forthcoming collection, "Heavy Load". The ominous acoustic blues number is highlighted by Haynes’ mournful vocal and supple yet deliberate riffing – listen to "Heavy Load" below.
Heavy Load Blues, due November 12 via Fantasy Records, encompasses an even mix of Haynes’ originals and revered covers originally made famous by the likes of Howlin’ Wolf, Elmore James, Junior Wells, Ann Peebles, Bobby “Blue” Bland, and even Tom Waits and the Animals. To coincide with the album’s announcement, Gov’t Mule has released a behind-the-scenes video of the making of Heavy Load Blues – watch below.
Heavy Load Blues is available for pre-order now at all DSPs here. Each digital pre-save will include an instant download of "Heavy Load". Physical CDs and vinyl are also available for pre-order now from the band’s webstore, Barnes & Noble, Amazon, and local record stores. A deluxe edition featuring additional studio and live tracks, including another Haynes original and covers originally by Savoy Brown, Sonny Boy Williamson, Muddy Waters, Otis Rush and more, will also be available.

});
“For me, personally, it's kind of been on my list of things to do for years,” shares Haynes. “I didn't know if it was gonna be a solo album or a Gov’t Mule record. We play some traditional blues on stage from time to time and although it’s usually never more than a few songs per show, our approach to the blues is unique and based on our collective chemistry as a band.” He adds, “This album gave us a mission. Although in some way it was ‘anything goes,’ we wanted to stay true to the spirit of the blues in a traditional sense. It’s not a blues/rock record – it's a blues record. We wanted it sonically to sound different from a normal Gov’t Mule record.”
Though technically considered a studio album, Heavy Load Blues was recorded live in the studio at The Power Station New England on analog tape, utilizing vintage guitars, amps and other equipment to capture an authentic sound. The 13-track album was produced by Haynes alongside engineer and co-producer, John Paterno (Michael Landau, Robbie Williams, The Steve Gadd Band).
One of the many standout tracks is the Junior Wells standard, Snatch It Back and Hold It, which allowed the band to freely cover a classic while sandwiching a spontaneous jam called Hold It Back in the middle of a soulful, stirring interpretation that was given a decidedly funky groove. In that regard, while several titles may sound familiar to blues enthusiasts, the band – Haynes, Matt Abts [drums], Danny Louis [keyboards, guitar, and backing vocals], and Jorgen Carlsson [bass] – often opted to put its own spin on them. I Feel Like Breaking Up Somebody’s Home, originally recorded by Ann Peebles, is one of the few songs on the record the band has previously played live. On their version, Haynes’ nimble guitar riffs are played out over a solid foundation of organ and rhythm, resulting in a kind of funk-like finesse. For the Howlin’ Wolf song, I Asked Her For Water, She Gave Me Gasoline, Gov’t Mule, who are known for pushing the parameters while melding a variety of genres — rock, R&B, jam, funk, jazz, and practically everything in-between, opted for a heavy, up-tempo and funky version that is a far cry from the original. See below for full tracklisting.
Leading up to the release of Heavy Load Blues, Gov’t Mule will continue with their 2021 tour dates. The in-progress outing offers fans a variety of options to catch the road warriors, including co-headlining shows with Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue and dates on Willie Nelson’s Outlaw Music Festival Tour alongside Nelson, Sturgill Simpson, The Avett Brothers, and more, as well as headlining shows and other festival appearances. Visit www.mule.net for more details.
Coming up later this winter, the band returns to Jewel Paradise Cove Resort in Runaway Bay, Jamaica for Island Exodus 12, the ultimate “concert-cation” experience from January 16-20, 2022. Hosted by Gov’t Mule, who will perform three full two-set shows, and Warren Haynes, offering his unique, interactive “Q and Play” set, a hybrid concert performance and storytelling session, the multi-day experience will also feature intimate beachfront concerts from Dawes and The War and Treaty, who will perform multiple sets, and special guest, Ron Holloway, who will present an extended afternoon “Sax On The Beach” set. Attendees arriving early for Exodus Eve on January 15 will see “RoHo” part of Melvin Seals & JGB + Ron Holloway’s “Legion of Melvin” show. Visit islandexodus.com for more info and ticketing details.

THE DARKNESS Release Lyric Video For New Single "Nobody Can See Me Cry"The Darkness - frontman/guitarist Justin Hawkins, guitarist/producer Dan Hawkins, bassist Frankie Poullain, drummer Rufus Taylor - will release their new album, Motorheart, on November 19 via Cooking Vinyl. A lyric video for the second single, "Nobody Can See Me Cry", is available for streaming below.
Motorheart is a record of immeasurable rock and roll extravagance and yet another masterpiece from England’s favorite rock icons. Album pre-orders are available at the band’s official store, here
Brimming with their trademark blazing guitar riffs, solos and soaring falsetto, below is the lyric video for the first single, the title track of The Darkness’ newest opus. Of the song Justin says, “’Motorheart’ rocks harder than anything we’ve done before. It makes me happy and proud to crank it up and literally shake my Swiss chalet to its foundations. Dan did an awesome job on the production, it’ll take your face off, but your skull will be grinning from meatus to meatus. Please, to enjoy.”

Paying homage to a devoted sex robot named Motorheart, the album growls, pounds and stomps with Rufus Taylor’s drums, Frankie Poullain’s bass and Justin & Dan Hawkins’ guitars all turned up to 11, whilst Justin’s trademark vocals soar to ever more earthquaking levels. Drop the needle anywhere on Motorheart and be instantly transported from this moaning and weeping vale of tears to Elysian fields of rock where all hands are raised, the drinks - just as in the Club Tropicana of yore - are free, and everyone wears a pleasingly salacious grin. Does it rock? Is the sun hot? Has your partner’s touch grown cold? The Darkness are the Orwellian boot stamping on the flaccid face of limp rock, forever!
Motorheart tracklisting:
"Welcome Tae Glasgae"
"It’s Love, Jim"
"Motorheart"
"The Power And The Glory Of Love"
"Jussy’s Girl"
"Sticky Situations"
"Nobody Can See Me Cry"
"Eastbound"
"Speed Of The Nite Time"
"You Don’t Have To Be Crazy About Me… But It Helps" *
"It’s A Love Thang (You Wouldn’t Understand)" *
"So Long" *
* bonus deluxe tracks

ANDREW W.K. Streaming New Single "Stay True To Your Heart"; AudioNapalm Records and Andrew W.K. will release of the iconic Party God’s fifth full-length studio rock album, God Is Partying, this Friday, September 10. The long-awaited nine track opus of maximalist grandeur drops nearly 20 years after the release of his chart-topping full-length debut, I Get Wet.
Gifting fans with one last taste of the new album before it drops this Friday, Andrew W.K. has revealed a follow-up to recent new singles "Babalon”, “I’m In Heaven” and "Everybody Sins", entitled "Stay True To Your Heart". The track's mechanical heartbeat builds towards a butterfly drum fill, bursting into an utterly soaring chorus, as the Party God conveys one of God Is Partying’s most addictive hooks. “Stay True To Your Heart” is a standout offering, evoking the uniquely delirious euphoria that Andrew W.K. delivers so well.
Andrew W.K. says about "Stay True To Your Heart”: “What is the most brutal form of positivity? I want to get in there. Being and staying. Being true to yourself isn’t the same as staying true to your heart. They told me all about this when I started forming. Approving the disapproval of others. Happiness. Seriousness. Zones of care - yourself, your family of supervisors, your city of strangers, your bathroom, your basement, your street. What does it mean for me to be not-human? What does it mean for a not-human to posses my party mindset? It's not appropriate for me to analyze this song in that way. The song is meant to analyze me. And the listener is meant to party.”

_taboola.push({
mode: 'alternating-rec-reel-3n4-a',

Hovering in the fluorescent spotlight of his legendary party power, God Is Partying sees Andrew W.K. ransack the corners of the human psyche, reaching a triumphant apex in his catalog, 20 years after the release of his chart-topping 2001 full-length debut, I Get Wet. Emotive yet steadfast, ominous yet invigorating, God Is Partying embraces both the break-ups and break-downs of life, and Andrew W.K. once again provides his audience with the perfect soundtrack to celebrate life in all its perplexing and euphoric intensity.
Showcasing his indisputable musicality, God Is Partying features Andrew W.K. performing all the album’s instruments, in addition to co-producing the album with his long-time recording partner, Grammy Award-winning engineer, Ted Young.
Channeling the manic euphoria that has compelled Andrew W.K.’s auditory insignia for decades, God Is Partying is soaked with a flood of epic energy - often traversing seemingly impenetrable lyrical themes while remaining refreshingly relatable, inspiring, and vital for survival. From sinister metallic bastions like the buzzing single “Babalon”, to the timeless story telling of “Remember Your Oath”, the album will have fans embracing their own party power and reveling in the depths of musical euphoria. God Is Partying opens triumphantly with Andrew W.K.’s hyper-melodic keyboard stylings introducing the menacing and magical music of “Everybody Sins”, perfectly setting the scene for the dramatic immensity to follow. Tracks like the poetic, “No One To Know”, and the soaring tension of “Stay True To Your Heart”, transport the listener to the precipice of a paradoxically infinite sonic horizon - rising into synthesizer-infused epics of mega-jumbo rock music, each track showcasing another example of Andrew W.K.’s expanding abilities as a vocalist and songwriter. Only halfway through the album is the listener driven directly into fiery depths with the massive track, “I’m In Heaven”, before ascending back up and into the sonic stratosphere with the tracks “My Tower” and the album’s gargantuan closer, “And Then We Blew Apart”. God Is Partying is a true ode to the quiddity of Andrew W.K..
God Is Partying will be available in the following formats:

In addition to raising money for charity, we wanted to show that Metallica’s music transcends genres, distance, and cultures, and we like to think that – with everyone’s help – we’ve done just that. It was important to us that the artists could choose whichever song they most connected to; it didn’t matter if we already had multiple versions of a song, if an artist wanted to cover that song, so be it. We were honored to have artists of this caliber want to be a part of the project and we hope you enjoy listening as much as we enjoyed putting it all together!

DAVE MUSTAINE Doesn't Understand Why LARS ULRICH Took On NAPSTER: 'Does He Have Enough Money? Probably'A short segment about the rise of the pioneering music file-sharing service Napster is included in the recently released HBO documentary "Woodstock 99: Peace, Love, And Rage" about the disastrous music festival held on a July weekend in 1999 which devolved spectacularly and ended in riots, looting and sexual assaults. Organizers of the festival were interviewed for the project as were a number of musicians who participated in the event, including MEGADETH's Dave Mustaine.
Speaking about METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich, whose band's image took a tremendous beating in the eyes of music fans after the San Francisco Bay Area heavy metal giants launched legal action against Napster in 2000, Mustaine said: "For me, see, I remember back when I was in METALLICA that we used to trade tapes. That's how we even discovered bands. I don't know. I can't blame Lars for doing the things that he does. Who knows why a guy does that? I mean, does he have enough money? Probably, right?"
Apparently sensing that his words would create a stir, he then addressed the interviewer directly, saying: "My brain is going, 'Don't say it, Dave. Don't say it, Dave. Don't say it, Dave.' And you're going, 'Say it, Dave. Say it, Dave. Say it, Dave.' [Laughs]"
This is not the first time Mustaine has discussed Napster. In a 2012 interview, Mustaine stated about the controversial file-sharing app: "Myself, I think the dude who created Napster probably ruined hundreds of thousands of people's lives because of that peer-to-peer file transferring, but if he hadn't done it, there are plenty of smart people out there who would have. It's human nature."
METALLICA sued Napster after the band discovered that a leaked demo version of its song "I Disappear" was circulating on the pioneering music file-sharing service before it was released.
In May 2000, Ulrich famously delivered a literal truckload of paper to Napster Inc., listing hundreds of thousands of people who allegedly used the company's software to share unauthorized MP3s of METALLICA's songs.
METALLICA representatives compiled the more than 60,000-page list of 335,435 Napster user IDs over one weekend in response to Napster's promise to terminate the accounts of users who trade material without permission. Real names were not included in the list.
In later years, METALLICA embraced digital music: in December 2012, the band made all of its studio albums, as well as various live material, singles, remixes and collaborations, available on Spotify.
In a 2017 radio interview, Ulrich was asked if there is anything he would have done differently in METALLICA's legal dispute against the file-sharing site. "To answer your question directly, I think we would have educated ourselves better about what the other side were thinking and what the real issues were," Ulrich said. "'Cause you've gotta remember, this started out as a street fight. This wasn't about the future of music, this wasn't about the music business, this had absolutely nothing to do with money. This was a back-alley street fight.
"Cliff [Burnstein, METALLICA co-manager] calls one day and says… We were working on a song for this Tom Cruise film, 'Mission Impossible II', called 'I Disappear', and we recorded it in between some touring commitments, and it was gonna be held back till the next summer. And so one day I got a call from Cliff saying 'I Disappear' is being played on 20 radio stations across America, and we're, like, 'How the fuck is this possible?' And he said there's something called Napster where people can go and share. And we're, like, 'How the hell did they get 'I Disappear'? It lives in our vault somewhere.' And so we traced it back to this company Napster, and as you did in those days, it was, like, 'Well, let's go fuck with Napster then.' So just like these five bright lights on me, and I can't actually see any of you guys, all of a sudden, we were caught in these lights and we're standing out in the middle going, 'Oops.' I guess Napster means a lot to a lot of people, and so we were caught a little bit off guard with that, and then we sort of had to figure out how we were gonna play it."
Lars went on to say that METALLICA was "totally pro bootlegging" around the time Napster was launched. "You could show up at a METALLICA gig, you could buy a ticket, you could bring in your own recording devices and you could stand on a platform and record METALLICA shows," he said. "You could bootleg them and we were totally encouraging of this. We were all tape traders, and we were totally pro all this stuff. But the thing that blew our minds about Napster was we couldn't wrap our heads around, 'Why did nobody from Napster call and go, 'Are you okay with us doing this?' Because then it was a conversation. But they did this without checking in with us. And that was the part that we couldn't understand, that was where I think we could have educated ourselves better about how all of this worked and what it meant to people, because all of a sudden, we were standing out there going… And then we were caught in a shitstorm and people were, like, 'METALLICA, they're really greedy and money hungry,' and it had nothing — nothing — to do with money whatsoever. It was just about, 'Wait a minute! If we're gonna give away our music, which we don't mind doing, maybe we should do it, or maybe somebody should ask our permission.' That was it. And then that back-alley streetfight went public and worldwide and then we were completely caught off guard." 8

VINCE NEIL Is Trying 'Revolutionary' Fat-Burning Treatment In Effort To Get In Shape For MÖTLEY CRÜE TourVince Neil is trying out a new toning machine in an apparent effort to get in shape for MÖTLEY CRÜE's upcoming "The Stadium Tour".
The singer revealed he is using Emsculpt Neo, a revolutionary new treatment which supposedly builds muscle and reduces fat using both radio frequency and high-intensity electromagnetic energies.
On Thursday (September 2), Neil took to his Instagram to share a video of him at what appears to his home gym, and he wrote in an accompanying message: "Trying it all! Check out Emsculpt Neo abs, They say it's 20,000 crunches in just 30 minutes!! #EmsculptNeo #emsculptpartner #moremusclelessfat #emsculpt @BTLAesthetics".
Last year, fashion and beauty influencer and former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo also revealed she was using Emsculpt Neo as a way "to get back in shape without having to feel like you're not giving it your all."
According to Swagger, the Emsculpt Neo procedure "is done in-office, is needle-free, and does not require any downtime. The technology uses energy waves that cause your muscles to fire up to 20,000 times per 30-minute session for simultaneous deep tissue muscle building, remodeling, and fat burn."
A little over three months ago, Neil made headlines when he struggled to complete his solo concert at the Boone Iowa River Valley Festival in Boone. Based on fan-filmed video footage of the May 29 gig posted on YouTube, the 60-year-old rocker, who hadn't performed in more than a year and a half due to the COVID-19 pandemic, began losing his voice several songs into his set, which consisted exclusively of CRÜE classics and cover songs previously recorded by the band.
14 songs into the performance, Vince attempted to sing CRÜE's smash hit "Girls, Girls, Girls" but gave up mid-song, explaining to the crowd: "Hey, guys… I'm sorry, you guys. It's been a long time playin'. My fuckin' voice is gone… Eh… We love you, and we'll hopefully see you next time, man. Take care."
After Neil walked off the stage, his backing band — which still consists of bassist Dana Strum and guitarist Jeff "Blando" Bland from SLAUGHTER, along with drummer Zoltan Chaney — continued to play the song, singing along to what appeared to be pre-recorded backing vocals.
MÖTLEY CRÜE's "The Stadium Tour" with DEF LEPPARD, POISON and JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS was originally scheduled to take place last summer but ended up being pushed back to 2021, and then to 2022, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In December 2019, CRÜE manager Allen Kovac told Fox Business that "some of" the bandmembers had enlisted outside help to get in shape for the trek. Kovac was referring to criticism of Neil for his supposed diminished singing ability and weight gain, as well as the health status of guitarist Mick Mars, who has been dealing with a chronic form of arthritis that led him to undergo a hip replacement.
Kovac explained: "Some of them are working with a trainer, some of them are working with a nutritionist to make themselves the best they can be. The greatest insecurity for an artist is: Is anyone going to care about my music? Is anyone going to buy a ticket? We were in November [2019] when the discussions were happening, and these guys were already into regimens of how they get ready for a tour."
Speaking specifically about Neil, Kovac added: "Let's see what Vince sings like and looks like when the tour goes out."
CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx also said that Vince was "killing it" while working with "trainers" and "nutritionists" in preparation for "The Stadium Tour".

CROSSFAITH Releases New Single 'Slave Of Chaos'Japanese genre-blenders CROSSFAITH have released a brand new single "Slave Of Chaos".
"This is our message to the powers who try to control us," says frontman Kenta Koie. "We have been strangled by your ego and we need to take back control! 'Slave Of Chaos' mixes trap with hardcore punk and rock's attitude, so it's different from our last releases. But you're going to find out about the new CROSSFAITH style as soon as you hear this song…"
CROSSFAITH formed in 2006 and released its debut album, "The Artificial Theory For The Dramatic Beauty", in 2009, followed by "The Dream, The Space" (2011), "Apocalyze" (2013), "Xeno" (2015) and "Ex Machina" (2018). Each one saw the band blend its love of punk rock, metal, and electronic music in daring new ways. In keeping with their progressive musical journey, 2020's "Species" EP saw the band continue to push their own sonic soundscape to new grounds.
"Playing heavy music is how I feel alive," says Koie. "We want CROSSFAITH to be the band making music that no one has ever heard before.
"Good art is how I express myself to other people. It's hard to talk from the bottom of my heart; that's why I write these songs."
When Koie was younger, he was drawn to heavy music because it was unlike anything he'd ever heard before. "I heard SLIPKNOT's 'People=Shit' and it changed my life," he says. "I didn't know I had this anger inside me and it was the most inspirational moment for me. I wanted to be the one blowing minds." At 12 years old, he had one big question that he wanted to answer. He grew up listening to Western music and could find it easily in all Japanese record stores, but he knew not many people listened to Japanese music in the west. He wanted to change that. "I had a dream to play my music outside of Japan," Koie shares. "I wanted to be the Japanese band that was listened to by people all across the world. That dream came true but we're not done yet."
"You need bands who are leaders," the singer says. "Especially in rock music. We focus on making new things and making new movement. That's our role. We don't want to be getting old. It's so sad when you see your heroes starting to sound old, so we brush ourselves off everyday and always try to find a new way to make music. Exploring is very important."

WENDY DIO On Why She Pulled The Plug On RONNIE JAMES DIO Hologram: 'I Decided I Want Real RONNIE'Ronnie James Dio's former wife and longtime manager Wendy Dio says that she decided to pull the plug on the hologram of the legendary metal singer because she "wanted to see real Ronnie."
Dio died in 2010 at the age of 67 from stomach cancer. The singer's hologram was created by a company called Eyellusion and made its debut at the Wacken Open Air festival in August 2016 in front of more than 75,000 fans.
The Dio hologram production used audio of Ronnie's live performances from throughout his career, with the DIO band playing live, consisting of Craig Goldy on guitar, Simon Wright on drums and Scott Warren on keyboards, along with Bjorn Englen on bass. Also appearing with them were ex-JUDAS PRIEST singer Tim "Ripper" Owens and former LYNCH MOB frontman Oni Logan.
Wendy discussed the status of the Ronnie James Dio hologram during an appearance on a recent episode of the "Hangin' & Bangin': Artists On Lockdown" online show, where she was joined by Vinny Appice (BLACK SABBATH, DIO), Carmine Appice (OZZY OSBOURNE, VANILLA FUDGE), Paul Shortino (ROUGH CUTT, QUIET RIOT) and host Ron Onesti.
Speaking about her initial response to the hologram, she said: "When I first saw it, I cried. Then I got used to it because it wasn't Ronnie. And then we took it out [on tour]. The first [version] was not that good. The second one was a lot better. But I decided that I don't wanna do it anymore; I decided I want real Ronnie. So we're working on a stage with the DIO band, which will be going out in March [of 2022]. Instead of having a hologram, it will have film of Ronnie with the live band playing and with special effects and everything else. So that's what we're working on. We're working on it with Paul Dexter [who was Ronnie's lighting designer and stage designer for years] and a bunch of other people. And also the Eyellusion people, who did do the hologram, are doing a bunch of special effects for us with it."
Wendy continued: "I never say never [about bringing back the hologram], but technology gets different every day, every day, every day. And I just decided that I wanted to see real Ronnie. … QUEEN does [something similar, using footage of Freddie Mercury]. Ours will be a little bit different to that because we have all these great effects, 3D effects. It's almost like going into — what's that ride at Disneyland, when you go through, and it's like a 3D effect? That's what we're working on right now."
Two former DIO guitarists have publicly expressed their doubts about the Ronnie James Dio hologram. In December 2019, Tracy "G" Grijalva, who played for DIO from 1993 through 1999, said that the hologram "looks creepy" and resembles "a puppet." Nine months earlier, Doug Aldrich, who was in DIO between 2002 and 2006, told XS Rock that "Ronnie would probably not" like the hologram. "He would probably be, like, 'This is not what I signed up for.' A hologram? It's not really what he would want to be. I'm just guessing, you know, that it's something that Wendy thought about and she decided that Ronnie would be fine with it. But I knew Ronnie well enough to know that he was very particular and he would prefer for them to let him just die and be in peace."
After the "Dio Returns" tour's initial seven-date run was completed in December 2017, Ronnie's hologram underwent some changes before the launch of the 2019 leg of the trek, which took place in May and June of that year.
The "Dio Returns" 17-song set consisted of seven tunes sung by the Dio hologram — the rest featured Owens and Logan separately or together — and encompassed material from Dio's lengthy career, including his earlier days in RAINBOW and BLACK SABBATH.
A few years ago, Wendy told Patch.com that critics of the Dio hologram were "entitled to their opinion. I just ask that people come and see the show first before criticizing," she said. "We got a lot of flak in the beginning but I think more and more people are getting used to it. It's for the fans. It's for the fans who would love to see Ronnie back up on the stage and the ones that never got a chance to see him. I think Ronnie would approve. If anybody saw the 'Sacred Heart' tour in 1986 we tried to make a hologram then. We had Ronnie in a crystal ball hanging from the stage talking through it. Also he was an innovator in music, so why not be an innovator in technology."
Last year, TESTAMENT guitarist Alex Skolnick, who toured with Ronnie on two separate occasions a decade and a half apart — in 1992 when Dio fronted BLACK SABBATH and again in 2008 when Ronnie was the singer of SABBATH offshoot band HEAVEN & HELL — offered his opinion on the Dio hologram on Twitter, writing: "I don't believe in those hologram shows. It would be one thing if the artist was still alive, chose not to tour for whatever reason, gave his or her approval & maybe even had a hand in the process. But Dio had no say." Skolnick also added a thumbs-down emoji as a way of voicing his disapproval.
DISTURBED frontman David Draiman said in a 2016 interview that he had mixed feelings about concerts featuring the Dio hologram. He said about the prospect of seeing a holographic version of Ronnie: "It makes me sad. I'm always happy to hear any music from anybody that's left us, that we've lost. But I don't know… The hologram thing, to me, it almost isn't letting the dead be dead." He added, "It just seems weird... Is there a difference between a hologram and a guy dressing up like Ronnie James and doing it?"

UFO To Play Last-Ever Concert In October 2022Following a number of tours around the globe and countless spectacular shows, British rock legend UFO will embark on its final tour featuring a series of exclusive concerts in summer 2022 to bid farewell to its fans in style. At the grand finale of an unprecedented success story, which began in 1969 and has spanned more than five decades, the band has announced a number of real highlights: The first one is scheduled to take place on Monday, June 20, 2022 at the Beatbox in Hannover, where UFO are planning a public rehearsal, with a strictly limited number of only 80 tickets available.
One day later, on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, the band will perform a private open-air concert in front of an audience of 300, presenting the full set-list of the subsequent tour, and coming into exceptionally close contact with their fans. Tickets for both concerts will be available exclusively from Eventim from October 1, 2021.
UFO will then play the very last concert of their long career on October 29, 2022 in Athens, Greece, where the band performed its first show featuring current guitarist Vinnie Moore in February 2004.
Singer and band founder Phil Mogg is anticipating this very special farewell show with mixed feelings, while also very much looking forward to UFO once again meeting their extensive fan base between summer and autumn 2022.
Mogg, who turned 73 in April, said: "After so many years with countless highlights, fantastic experiences and lots of beautiful memories — as well as some difficult moments, naturally — it'll be a worthy finale to say goodbye to your fans in person. I know that there are bound to be some very emotional moments on both sides."
In his original statement announcing UFO's final tour, Mogg said the decision was "a long time coming," adding that while "being out on the road isn't always tremendously luxurious and although the playing is as great as it ever was, the stuff that surrounds it becomes very tiresome. I always told myself that when I reached that stage, I would step down, and that's what I'm going to do. This is the right time for me to quit."
UFO's latest release was the 2017 covers collection "The Salentino Cuts" 1

IRON MAIDEN's NICKO MCBRAIN Picks THE BEATLES' RINGO STARR As His 'Rock God'IRON MAIDEN drummer Nicko McBrain was the featured guest on BBC's "The Rock Show With Johnnie Walker" during the "Rock God" segment. Nicko picked THE BEATLES' Ringo Starr and stated about his choice: "I've chosen Ringo because he was the very first drummer that really influenced me in my genre of music. I started off listening to Dave Brubeck when I heard Joe Morello playing, but Ringo was my first hero. In fact, when I was 12 years old — in fact, I was 11 — I had a poster of Ringo in my bedroom. He was looking over the left side of his drum set over his hi-hats, and I every night would go to sleep thinking, 'That is the man. That is the guy I wanna be like.' And he really did kick off my drumming career. One other thing is I got to meet him three years ago when he played down here in Fort Lauderdale — the first time after all of those years that I got to meet my hero."
McBrain previously discussed his introduction to drumming in a 2012 interview with Drum! magazine. He said at the time: "Once I saw Joe Morello, I told my dad, 'I'm gonna be a drummer. I'm gonna be the best drummer in the world.' But I didn't go into jazz. I was 11 years old when THE BEATLES came out, and then I was, like, 'Holy shit! I want to be Ringo Starr!' I was very vulnerable to what was going on [in London]. I was inspired by Ringo, Charlie Watts, Keith Moon … When LED ZEPPELIN came out, John Bonham was a major influence on me, and I thought, 'That's what I'm going to be playing.'"
Five years ago, McBrain told Music Radar about his drumming style: "Originally when I was growing up, it was THE [ROLLING] STONES, THE ANIMALS, people like that. Brian Bennett, Ringo Starr, Charlie Watts were my influences. It was simple poppy stuff. And then THE WHO came along and John Bonham and my whole life changed. I was into big band and funky grooves, I loved to play funk. My style was based around that, that music of the '60s when I was growing up and learning to play. Then I played in blues bands and I started getting heavier, I always played hard. I learnt my trade and I loved these funk grooves. As my life progressed and I played with other bands like STREETWALKERS, a lot of those tracks were melodic rock tracks, but there was a lot of funk in them. A lot of the influence there was from the guitar player Bobby Tench. When I got into MAIDEN, the next progression of having played with Pat [Travers] and people like that meant that I was still playing with those influences, and I brought that into MAIDEN."
IRON MAIDEN's new album, "Senjutsu", was released on September 3 via BMG. It was recorded in Paris with longstanding producer Kevin Shirley and co-produced by bassist Steve Harris. The video for the LP's first single, "The Writing On The Wall", was made by BlinkInk based on a concept by singer Bruce Dickinson with two former Pixar executives. It followed a month-long teaser campaign and global "treasure hunt" for clues about the track title and conc

VANILLA FUDGE Releases Cover Version Of THE SUPREMES Classic 'Stop In The Name Of Love'VANILLA FUDGE has released a "fudged up" version of THE SUPREMES classic "Stop In the Name Of Love" and a tribute to their bandmate, "To The Legacy Of Tim Bogert".
The legendary VANILLA FUDGE, the original lineup of Mark Stein, Carmine Appice, Vincent Martel and Tim Bogert, together one final time, take listeners on a psychedelically tinged version of THE SUPREMES classic "Stop In The Name Of Love". This masterpiece is an instant classic, putting on display the virtuosity and raw talent of one of the pioneers of psyche rock.
Back in 2019, Stein put together an idea for VANILLA FUDGE to do an arrangement for "Stop In The Name Of Love". The dream was to capture the lightning in a bottle that happened with their classic arrangement of THE SUPREMES' "You Keep Me Hangin' On". That track has remained current decades after its release thanks to film and television placements such as "The Sopranos" finale, and big Hollywood blockbusters like "Once Upon A Time In Hollywood". While the FUDGE was out on tour later that year, they went into the studio and laid down tracks that would be the foundation of this new release.
Says Stein: "So back in mid-2019, I put together a blueprint for an arrangement for 'Stop In The Name Of Love' while the FUDGE was out there doing shows later that year. We went into the studio and recorded the track. We planned to complete it, there were delays, and then the pandemic put everything on hold."
They planned to complete it with Tim Bogert on the track. However, they ran into some unavoidable delays with the pandemic putting everything on hold. Tim had been living with cancer for some time, and they didn't know how much time he had. Carmine Appice took the matter into his own hands and when he went to Los Angeles's NAMM show in January of 2020, he arranged for Tim to record at Jorgen Carlsson's (the bass player for GOV'T MULE) studio in L.A.
Says Martel: "It was very cool that we were able to get Timmy on the track. I'm glad he was strong enough and gracious enough to record with us one last time. He gave me a great template to build on with my guitar. I created an East Indian raga intro in the spirit of our early albums and rocked out at the end. Hold on tight everybody, 'cause here comes the FUDGE..."
Upon Tim's passing, the band recorded tributes to their brother and bandmate with producer Leslie Gold. This heartfelt recording, "To The Legacy Of Tim Bogert", is a must listen for fans of VANILLA FUDGE.

The backstory:
"A Drowning Pool cover has always been high on our list. So when the stars aligned the kids jumped at the chance to cover 'Bodies'. Prodigies from Iowa, Michigan, Georgia, Missouri and Ohio came together to bring this cover to life! Aidan Fisher then wrote a guitar solo for 'Bodies', which was inspired by the late Edward Van Halen who passed away on October 6th, 2020.

Rhythm Guitar - Ethan Olzak (age 17)
Lead Guitar - Aidan Fisher (age 18)

Since 2006, OMF has helped over 1000 students make countless music videos… with over 80 million combined YouTube views!
You can read more about us on our website, view other great music vids, and even apply to be an OMF rockstar (as long as you are 18 or under)! You can also buy some cool merch, or support us in recording more great songs and videos in the future."

ECONOLINE CRUSH - "We Are In The Final Stages Of Finishing Our Latest Album"Trevor Hurst, frontman and founder of veteran Canadian alterantive / rock / industrial band Econoline Crush has checked in with an update on the band's current activities. Check it out below.
Econoline Crush was formed in 1992 and have released five studio albums. They achieved platinum status with the 1997 album, The Devil You Know, and received Juno Award nominations in 1995 and 1998.

Econoline Crush released a new single, "Fight Like The Devil", at the end of 2020, which is available digitally here. Check it out below.
Hurst: "While quarantined during the ongoing pandemic I found myself watching a lot of television, just to witness so many tragic events leaving people feeling like they weren’t being heard, let alone respected and equal. These events led to activists and protesters taking to the streets in frustration, and we stand with them. 'Fight Like The Devil' was written for those brave souls who march and protest so we can dream of a future where we all have an opportunity to pursue our dreams and live our lives without fear of intimidation or discrimination.
Delivering their single "Get Out Of The Way", on indie start-up Amalien Records, the band checked in with the following update:.
“We decided to re-record 'Get Out Of The Way' (from 2008) to launch our deal with Amalien Records. We think the song suits the times we live in, and helps amplify the voices of those trying to build a better world for everyone. It just felt like the perfect song for this moment in time," says Trevor.
Despite their absence the sound of Econoline Crush is still there, but now with a more transformed and enhanced resonance.
“There's still the industrial sound,” adds Trevor, “but it's drifted towards more classic elements of rock. We're evolving into a more organic direction. The songs are taking a lead role.”
Adaptable as well, the band is a full-on rock assault, with gritty guitars and crashing percussion, but they can also switch to acoustic, soulful rock in a moment’s notice. Entering a new era of production as well, Econoline Crush takes classic rock, industrial and electronica, and melds it to create something both unique and appealing to their legacy of fans, and new music fans of today.

MÄRVEL Release ABBA Inspired Single “Slasher With A Broken Heart”Swedish power-trio Märvel have launched their single and music video “Slasher With A Broken Heart”. The track is the first taste of an upcoming studio album that will be released in 2022 as part of the band’s 20th anniversary. Inspired by the love story between ABBA singer Agnetha Fältskog and her stalker, ”Slasher With A Broken Heart” tells a tale of both love, loneliness, and obsession, all filtered through Märvel’s energetic, powerful, and undoubtedly catchy take on melodic garage rock.
Guitarist/Vocalist The King explains the song: “This song is about the relationship between ABBA singer Agnetha Fältskog and her stalker, Gert van der Graaf. After falling head over heels in love with Agnetha, Gert bought a house next to the superstar, and the two somehow eventually ended up as a couple. However falling in love with your stalker is not a good way to start a relationship, and when Agnetha eventually broke up with Gert, he turned completely mad. As mad as a Slasher with a Broken heart. It all ended up with ’someone standing in the bushes behind your house….’”

The King continues: “Even for a creepy stalker, loneliness is a terrible feeling. It’s something affecting all humans. I find that interesting, and it’s something that inspired me to write this song.”
”Slasher With A Broken Heart” is out now via The Sign Records. The single was released with a music video. More music from Märvel coming soon.

SWALLOW THE SUN Launch Video For Instrumental Version "The Void" Performed By TRIO NOXIn all the silence, Finnish death doom masters, Swallow The Sun, have written, recorded and mixed a new album called Moonflowers. It is done and ready and will be released on November 19.
Along with some of the album formats, there will also come a full bonus album featuring very special instrumental versions of all the regular album tracks. This instrumental album has been composed for strings and recorded at Sipoo Church in Finland. The strings were performed by the group called Trio NOX from Finland.
All these instrumental songs will be launched as animated videos, which were created by Dronicon Films. One by one every week, leading up to the first single release of the main album.

The new instrumental song, "The Void", is accompanied by an animated video created by Dronicon Films. Watch below:
Check out the instrumentals for "All Hallows' Grieve", "Woven Into Sorrow", "Moonflowers Bloom In Misery" and "Enemy", below:
Juha Raivio comments: “I know well that I should not say this, but I deeply hate this album. I hate where it takes me, how it makes me feel and what it stands for me personally. I wish it wouldn’t. But for all its honesty I got no option than also love it. That is all that matters to me with the music anyway and it doesn’t matter how it makes me feel, as long as it does. For me this album is like a mirror of a deep self-disappointment. Even I still want to believe that there is and could be more than this in me. But I don’t need or want to talk more about it. After all music means so different things to each one of us by how we have walked our own paths, and that is a beautiful thing about music. There is no right or wrong.
"After I had finished writing all the music for this record in the fall of 2020 I started to write these small instrumental versions of the album songs for the violin, viola, cello and piano. Mostly because I was wondering how it would feel like to hear all these songs first as these intimate versions instead of a full band album. It was really beautiful to see and hear these songs come alive in this way and form, recorded live in this big church in Finland. To be able to hear the echoes of this music reflecting from the church walls and feel the very soul of these old wooden instruments played by real people in this sacred place. Something about hearing the strings breathe this fragile beauty into these songs that carry so much pain otherwise. Now looking back, maybe I wrote these versions just for myself to be able to hear and feel at least some kind of a beauty and solace in these songs, maybe…
"I wanted to create the cover art of this album myself this time, so it would stand as brutally honest for me as the music is. So I painted the moon on the ‘Moonflowers‘ cover with my own blood and I decorated it with the flowers I picked up and dried on the spring of 2016. Maybe it isn’t the most outstanding looking piece of art ever made in this world, but for me it is everything. I wasn’t going to write any new music before I would have moved towards the right direction in my life, but finally all this music just forced itself out of me during the long nights of this hope crushing and neverending lockdown prison. Something grew out from that void eventually and writing these songs made me think a lot about moonflowers that bloom at the darkest hour of the night, so that name felt right to call the album also.
"All my love to you, take care."
Moonflowers tracklisting:
"Moonflowers Bloom In Misery"
"Enemy"
"Woven Into Sorrow"
"Keep Your Heart Safe From Me"
"All Hallows' Grieve" (Featuring Cammie Gilbert)
"The Void"
"The Fight Of Your Life"
"This House Has No Home"
Raivio further states, “In other news, unfortunately our busy brother Jaani will step aside from the band at least for this new album cycle, but we are happy to tell that you can hear Jaani’s backing vocals on the new album anyway.”
Jaani Peuhu adds, "Sadly, Corona virus messed up everything including the release schedules of my bands. Both the Mercury Circle and Swallow The Sun albums are being released at the same time, making it impossible for me to tour with both bands. For this reason, I decided that it’d be better for me to solely focus on MC for this release cycle.
"That being said, the upcoming Swallow The Sun album will be amazing, and I am so happy we could still do it together. I wish the best of luck to StS on their tour with it! See you in the audience!"

TEMPERANCE To Release Diamanti Album In November; "Pure Life Unfolds" Music Video StreamingItalian modern symphonic power metal maestros,, Temperance present the first single cut from their new studio album, Diamanti. Energizing and uplifting “Pure Life Unfolds” embodies the multifaceted sound of the five-piece with its grand melodies and thriving refrain - all topped by the fabulous performance of all three vocalists. With millions of streams across all platforms, Temperance are shaping up to be amongst the elite of symphonic metal.
Michele Guaitoli (vocals, piano) on the new single: “This song is proof that when we work as a team, we are limitless. I wrote this track 2 years ago, and it was a long suite with over 7 minutes of music. When Marco heard it, he saw a completely different potential in it and we started editing and working together. Basically, the intro and the chorus are the only elements that didn’t change if not for some little adjustments, the verses and the overall structure has been re-arranged during our songwriting sessions and the final result is just magic. This track leaves you breathless and makes your heart beating fast from the beginning to the end."

With Diamanti, the exceptionally skilled Italian outfit once again showcases their extraordinary ability to merge brilliant vocal melodies, hefty power metal guitar riffing, and symphonic soundscapes in perfect harmony - all dressed in modern surroundings. This is an offering that fans of bands like Amaranthe will fall in love with immediately.
Diamanti was mixed and mastered by Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Epica, Amaranthe), with the cover artwork once again created by Yann Souetre (Ayreon).
Marco Pastorino (vocals, guitar) on the new album: "With Diamanti, we managed to combine our best qualities and selected the best Temperance songs so far. It's not our heaviest album, it's not our fastest work, but surely it's our favourite one so far! We weren't necessarily supposed to record a new album only one year after Viridian, but luckily we made it! In this album you will find our trademarks: the vocal harmonies, the catchy melodies, but also epic stuff, strong arrangements, and long tracks - I am very proud of Diamanti and I am convinced we have written a bombastic album!"

Former MÖTLEY CRÜE Singer JOHN CORABI's Autobiography, 'Horseshoes And Hand Grenades', To Be Released In AprilFormer MÖTLEY CRÜE singer John Corabi recently completed work on his autobiography. Titled "Horseshoes And Hand Grenades", it was written wih the help of MÖTLEY CRÜE historian/author Paul Miles, and is due on April 12, 2022 via Rare Bird Books.
In a new interview with Meltdown of Detroit's WRIF radio station, Corabi stated about his book: "It goes all the way back to, obviously, me being born, but it talks about my parents. My grandparents were first-generation Italians from the Calabria section of Italy. My mother's side of the family, I talk about them. It talks about me being born, my childhood being very kind of 'Wonder Years' — whatever — and then just it completely derailing and falling apart. And it goes into everything. There's a lot of things that fans don't know about me — some of my marriages. It talks about, again, my youth, childhood. I dive into the Uncle Jack stories.
"Basically, the book is really kind of a testament to [the fact that] I knew at a very young age that I wanted to do what I'm doing for a living," he continued. "Now, has it panned out the way that the magazines, the articles — you know, Learjets, limousines and all that other stuff? Probably not. But I'm still pushing forward, still trying to find my slice of the pie. But it's really kind of a testament to perseverance. And it goes right from the time I took my first breath to maybe a year ago."
Corabi previously spoke about his upcoming autobiography in a November 2020 interview with the "Thunder Underground" podcast. At the time, he said: "It literally goes from my birth — back to the very beginning. It talks about my side of the family — and my mom's. My dad's side of the family came from Italy; my mom's side of the family came from somewhere in Ireland. And the neighborhood I lived in. And just everything. It goes all the way back. It explains the Uncle Jack. If you're familiar with the MÖTLEY record [I sang on], you know that [the song 'Uncle Jack'] was about my uncle, and it goes through all of that shit. Marriages and divorces and infidelities, and then the bands as well. What I was going through trying to get a record, and once I got the record deal. So it's not just focused on MÖTLEY or one band; it's literally my life from front to back, right up until now. [It covers] THE DEAD DAISIES — leaving the DAISIES to [going] back to pursuing my solo career, making John Corabi a brand or a household name. And there's no punches [being pulled]. I know I'm being honest. I know there's a few people I'm probably gonna piss off — a few ex-wives and whatever. But fuck it. It is what it is. It's honest."
Corabi joined CRÜE in 1992 as the replacement for the group's original singer, Vince Neil, who was dismissed due to personal differences. With Corabi on vocals, MÖTLEY CRÜE released one critically acclaimed full-length CD, which ended up being a commercial failure in the wake of grunge despite a Top 10 placing on the album chart. When Neil returned to the fold in 1997, Corabi was left on his own and formed the band UNION with ex-KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick.
In February 2018, Corabi released a live album of his performance of MÖTLEY CRÜE's entire 1994 self-titled album, recorded on October 27, 2015 in Nashville, Tennessee. "Live '94: One Night In Nashville" documents the album in its entirety along with the bonus track "10,000 Miles", which was originally released as a bonus track on the Japanese version of the "Quaternary" EP.
