IRON MASK released their brandnew video single “Tree Of The World”

Iron Mask released their brandnew video single “Tree Of The World” from their seventh album “Master Of Masters”, which hit the streets 4th December 2020 (via AFM Records).

The first taste from the new Iron Mask album sees the band return with a real crowd-pleaser. "Tree Of The World" has slight celtic influences, galloping drums and a jaw-dropping solo courtesey of the guitar wizard and main man Dushan Petrossi. A true Metal Anthem!

There’s not only Odin when it comes to mythology and pagans gods, there's also Svarog, God of gods and all slavic people. The world tree carries the earth, hell and heaven and is their old symbol.

OCEAN HILLS: New single / video "BOUND" released

New Rock sensation OCEAN HILLS, led my forner Ignite vocalist Zoli Teglas, does not slow down. The band’s debut album „Santa Monica“ will drop on November 27th, and today it’s time to unleash the album’s fourth single – the smashing Rock anthem „Bound“.

The track was written and produced by Chris Traynor (guitarist of Bush, Orange 9mm, Helmet) and Kyle Hoffmann (producer for Trent Reznor, Bruce Springsteen, Rob Zombie).
Mixed by Jay Baumgardner and mastered by Howie Weinberg.

The 3D lyric video for "Bound" was created by Frank Grayner.
"Santa Monica" (available as CD, Vinyl, Digipak (incl. 3 bonus tracks) is available for pre-order now.

He has been the voice of melodic hardcore band IGNITE for 25 years, but just left the band to pursue his passions in music and animal rescue. Zoli Téglás has also been the front man for the bands Pennywise and the Misfits. Téglás in addition has a nice resume of acting in Hollywood movies (Terminator: Dark Fate (2019), The Alienist (TV series - 2020), Spectral (2016), Tyrant (TV series - 2015, 2016), Argo 2 (2015) and is known as an activist for animal rights and environmental protection for many years. He has been an activist and board member for such organizations as Sea Shepherd Conservation Society and Beagle Freedom Project. Zoli has his own non profit Pelican Rescue Team.

Now Zoli shows another interesting facet of his personality with the launch of his brand new U.S Alternative Rock band, OCEAN HILLS. “These songs come from the heart”, he says. The upcoming album is everything Zoli was hoping to achieve musically. "The songs are great, the musicianship is amazing, the guitar solos are incredible, and the vocals are melodic and hard hitting. Rock anthem stuff!!!"

Joining Zoli in OCEAN HILLS are, Peter Lukacs (lead guitar), Daniel Szebenyi (keyboards and bass) and Reinder Oldenburger (rhythm guitar) – all with integral contributions to the band’s songwriting.

Former GHOST Member HENRIK PALM Releases Music Video For Solo Single 'Given Demon'

Swedish post-punk multi-instrumentalist songwriter Henrik Palm, who was a member of GHOST from 2015 until 2016, will release a new solo album, "Poverty Metal", on October 16 via Svart Records. The official music video for the disc's latest single, "Given Demon", can be seen below.

"Poverty Metal" track listing:

01. Bully

02. Sugar

03. Concrete Antichrist

04. Given Demon

05. Destroyer

06. Nihil

07. Nihilist

08. Last Christmas

From his work with an almost limitless multitude of acts such as IN SOLITUDE's renewal of heavy metal, darlings of the underrated underground PIG EYES, his stint in GHOST, prog rock grandmasters GÖSTA BERLINGS SAGA, punk veterans ISOTOPE SOAP and experimental weirdos SÖDRA SVERIGE, Palm is a post-punk, heavy-pop sonic contortionist of the finest order. From being hand-picked for Tomas Lindberg's (AT THE GATES) curated Roadburn festival performance to opening for acts like VOIVOD and winning the hearts of well-known fans such as Jacob Bannon (CONVERGE) and Scott Carlson (REPULSION), Palm has been blowing all of us away for good a while now. Everything we're looking for in a fresh and modern genre clash, Henrik's music is catchy, well-crafted, beautiful and ugly in the same intense and challenging moment. Impossible to define, Palm is a perfect reflection of his eclectic tastes and infamously insatiable vinyl collection, fitting Svart's groundbreaking roster perfectly.

Tomi Pulkki from Svart says: "What Henrik Palm creates with his songs of diverse influence is a rare explosion of outlandish and captivating rock that we're really excited to present to a wider world. It's not often that an artist can have us dancing to VOIVOD-ian discordant riffs and prog excursions with that Swedish knack for a well-crafted song. We're getting ready to administer 'Poverty Metal' to the masses."

Palm moves freely between record collections and worlds. Between KILLING JOKE, CRASS and PSYCHIC TV, but also between HP Lovecraft and Dr. Who. Decibel dubs his sound as "raw rock and roll with a punk edge and a profound sense of weirdness," and his undiscovered terrain lies between the deeply private and the anarchist spiritual, intertwining cronky, angular postcore riffs with kraut and shoegaze influences. The songs lie in the room like a ghost, heavy breathing.

Henrik says: "I love to experiment with weird instruments, tunings and anything that makes the song better, creepier, more beautiful or whatever. Fuck genres. Identity and feeling is more important," and his music is a wildly fresh distortion of conventions.

According to Palm, seventy percent of his musical diet consists of raw punk with some TROUBLE, CELTIC FROST, THROBBING GRISTLE and MY BLOODY VALENTINE to round things out.

Palm is one of four former members of GHOST who filed a lawsuit against the band's founder and main songwriter, Tobias Forge, in 2017. The four musicians accused the vocalist, who performs under the stage names Papa Emeritus and Cardinal Copia, of cheating them out of their rightful share of the profits from the band's album releases and world tours.

In a statement explaining the lawsuit, the ex-members officially revealed their identities as Palm (Eather), Simon Söderberg (Alpha; member of GHOST from 2010 until 2016), Mauro Rubino (Air; member of GHOST from 2011 until 2016) and Martin Hjertstedt (Earth; member of GHOST from 2014 until 2016).

The Swedish-based act underwent a complete overhaul at the end of 2016, when Forge fired the entire lineup and recruited new players.

Forge — who does all the band's interviews as a Nameless Ghoul — has said that GHOST has always been essentially a one-man project, with many session musicians coming and going over its 12-year existence.

STATIC-X Releases Official Music Video For 'Dead Souls'

STATIC-X has released the official music video for the song "Dead Souls". The track is taken from the band's latest album "Project Regeneration Vol. 1", which came out on July 10.

The first of two volumes, "Project Regeneration Vol. 1" features 12 brand new tracks, containing many of the final vocal performances and musical compositions of late STATIC-X frontman Wayne Static, along with the original "Wisconsin Death Trip" lineup of bassist Tony Campos, drummer Ken Jay, and guitarist Koichi Fukuda. Both volumes are being worked on by longtime STATIC-X producer Ulrich Wild.

In total, "Project Regeneration" volumes one and two will consist of more than 20 brand new or previously unreleased STATIC-X songs and will feature all of the remaining works left behind by Wayne Static, along with the original "Wisconsin Death Trip" band lineup. The individual albums are expected to contain creative packaging elements that will allow fans to marry the two volumes together.

Last year, STATIC-X wrapped up a world tour comprised of nearly 100 mostly sold-out dates in celebration of the 20th anniversary of its platinum-selling debut album "Wisconsin Death Trip". The shows also served as a traveling memorial for Wayne, who passed away nearly six years ago.

While the identity of STATIC-X's touring singer Xer0 has not been officially revealed, strong rumors suggest that DOPE frontman Edsel Dope is the one performing with Jay, Fukuda and Campos and appearing in all of STATIC-X's promotional videos.

Static died after mixing Xanax and other powerful prescription drugs with alcohol, according to the coroner's report. The 48-year-old Static, whose real name was Wayne Richard Wells, was found dead in his Landers, California home on November 1, 2014.

Static founded STATIC-X in 1994 and achieved commercial success with "Wisconsin Death Trip", which included the rock radio hit "Push It".

The group issued five more studio albums before disbanding permanently in June 2013. Static had been pursuing a solo career at the time of his death.

Watch HAMMERFALL Perform 'Keep The Flame Burning' From 'Live! Against The World'

Swedish metallers HAMMERFALL will release a new live set, "Live! Against The World", on October 23 via Napalm Records. A performance video of the song "Keep The Flame Burning", taken from the effort, can be seen below.

With an absolutely impressive, grand live production, huge arenas and overwhelming pyro shows, HAMMERFALL took over the world in 2019/2020 with its "World Dominion" tour. Now, they make their splendor available to every Templar around the globe. Recorded on February 15 at the MHP Arena in Ludwigsburg, Germany, "Live! Against The World" contains songs fresh off HAMMERFALL's latest album, "Dominion", mixed with a ton of band classics and a hand-picked selection of songs that rarely appear on HAMMERFALL's setlists to fulfill the needs of both new and old fans.

HAMMERFALL did not only celebrate the great chart success of "Dominion", but also the 20th anniversary of its "Renegade" album with a phenomenal medley during the nearly two-hour-long concert. The show had everyone on their feet and banging their heads within no time and marks one of the many unforgettable evenings of pure Swedish heavy metal in the legendary HAMMERFALL manner.

Singer Joacim Cans comments: "I am so damn proud that we are able to present a full blown, up-to-date, live show in these extremely difficult times. A time when real live shows in front of a 'real' live audience have ceased to exist.

"The show at MHP Arena Ludwigsburg was nothing but epic and really captured the strength and power of the band as a live act and shows the joy we are experiencing together on stage every night, no matter where we play. This is the biggest stage production we ever had and now you can experience this at home anywhere, at any time.

"HAMMERFALL is and always will be a live band and together with the greatest fans in the world we are an unstoppable force!”

Guitarist Oscar Dronjak adds: "The live act that HAMMERFALL is right now blows everything we have done previously out of the water, and I am super happy that we got to document it in this way on the biggest tour we have ever done.

"The setlist speaks for itself — every album is represented with at least one song; there's stuff we have never performed live before, songs we haven't played in a long time and of course all the classics. It's a great testament to where we stand today, and an added bonus is that we finally got to record something major in Germany, in front of the fans who have been with us literally since day one."

"Live! Against The World" starts off with the smashing song and first single "Never Forgive, Never Forget", fresh from "Dominion". The Swedish heavy metal institution presents itself in top shape and starts the show in Ludwigsburg, Germany with a big bang — they take the screaming templars by storm. This absolutely impressively produced live version of one of their biggest new hits marked one of the highlights of the legendary show at the MHP Arena. Adding in classics like "Any Means Necessary", "Last Man Standing" and "Let The Hammer Fall" that show off HAMMERFALL's legendary prowess on both vocals and instruments, the performance continues on to be both surprising and astounding. Special guest Noora Louhimo (BATTLE BEAST) made it possible for HAMMERFALL to display their emotional side with their power ballad "Second To One" live on stage. The show ends with the one song that belongs in every HAMMERFALL experience: the beautiful and heavy "Hearts On Fire".

"Live! Against The World" will be available in the following formats:

KARKAOS / KITTIE Vocalist MORGAN LANDER Featured In Lockdown Performance Of PRONG Classic "Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck"

Karkaos / Kittie vocalist Morgan Lander recently performed a lockdown cover of the Prong classic "Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck" with Jeff Phillips (guitar, bass) and Michael Sage (drums / samples). Check it out below.

The track was mixed and mastered by Doug Fury at Fortissimo Sound. The song is taken from Prong's 1994 album, Cleansing.

Karkaos has taken their mastery of the Quebec metal scene to the next level with the addition of new vocalist, Morgan Lander of Kittie. The band is coming back more fierce and focused than ever, ushering in a devastating new era of power, presence and brutality. On September 21st, 2019 they hit the stage at Théatre Fairmont in Montréal, Quebec with Lander leading the charge. Fan-filmed video is available below.

Lander is thrilled to be brought into the fold. "Joining Karkaos has been a true honour for me. It feels so incredibly good to be back in the metal game after a number of years away, and I cannot wait to step on the stage once again with these amazing musicians."

The rest of the band feels the same. “We already knew how talented Morgan was when we began talking to her about joining the band,” says band founder, Vincent Harnois. “When she sent us her first demos, we realized that this was going to be something extremely special. She is an absolute pleasure to work with and she brings a whole new dimension to our songs. It is an honor to have her with us and we are thrilled to start the next chapter or our band together.”

Forged out of the ashes of a much earlier band incarnation by Harnois in 2003, Karkaos has quickly evolved into one of the most respected and celebrated metal acts from Montreal, Canada. Mixing elements of death metal, power metal and hard rock, this female-fronted band succeeds in bridging the gap between extreme darkness and light, beauty and terror. Karkaos has performed alongside international acts such as Into Eternity, Enslaved, The Agonist, UneXpect, Unleash the Archers, Delain and Leaves Eyes. The band is brutally punishing audiences with an incredible live show, enabling them to establish a strong following both locally and abroad within a few short years.

The band released their first EP, entitled In Burning Skies, in 2010, closely followed by a professionally shot music video and a live appearance on Montreal’s prestigious music television station Musique Plus. Striking while the iron was hot, the band returned to the studio to record their critically acclaimed debut full-length album Empire, in 2013, led by the single and subsequent music video for “Depths Of Madness”. After years of crafting their live show and refining their sound, once again Karkaos managed to come back stronger and more accomplished than ever with the release of their second full length album, Children Of The Void, in 2017, a testament to their work ethic and strength as a band, diversifying their sound with the addition of the immensely talented and seasoned drummer Justine Ethier (Blackguard, Sykode).

Karkaos is ready to push the boundaries of extreme melodic metal with their upcoming follow up to Children Of The Void. The band entered Silverwings studio in September 2019 to demo and work on pre-production on eight new songs, looking to record the full length album.

5TH MACHINE - The New Revelation Of Hard Rock

One of the revelations of hard rock today, 5th Machine, was formed in 2013, after a reunion between friends. The band currently has six friends making modern hard rock with footprints from the 80s, full of striking melodies. With influences from Ratt, Dokken, Racer X, Savatage, and Winger.

The inspiration for the band's name came after a trip that vocalist Fábio Cabral made to a historic village in Paranapiacaba / SP, where in this small village, there was a 19th century building called Quinta Machina. In this building, all creation and developmental projects related to the functioning of a locomotive, its tracks and all the railway interlocution in the country, were born in this house.

5th Machine debuted in music with the first single “Back In Time”, a hard rock song full of AOR elements with striking melodies and inspired guitar solos. In addition to being one of the style's representatives in Brazil, the band has been gaining notoriety around the world for its modern style, which was praised by vocalist Edu Falaschi, who nominated them for the musician and producer Thiago Bianchi (Noturnall / ex-Shaman ), resulting in an invitation to record an album.

The album, Back In Time, was released in June via Lions Pride Music, and is available on all digital platforms. The band was scheduled to tour this year, but due to the new coronavirus pandemic, unfortunately it was canceled. They are currently working on new compositions and will soon release the music video for the song “Mirros And Bones”.

Avant-Garde Metal Duo DOUAUMONT Captures Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 8

Experimental metal duo Douaumont has revealed details on its second album, DSCH: String Quartet No. 8, an avant-garde, metallic take on 20th century Soviet composer’s Dmitri Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 8, available September 25 via Pale Noise Media.

“Our objective with this record is to provide a modern and stylized reinterpretation of Shostakovich’s compositional masterpiece,” Douaumont’s Andy Meyer and Matt Wees say. “Focusing on the attempt to retain the same gravity as it did in the 1960s when Shostakovich was left alone, weeping, having just heard the Borodin Quartet give him a private reading of his work.”

A video for “Largo” from DSCH: String Quartet No. 8 can be seen below.

While caught in the middle of the emerging Soviet regime, Shostakovich found himself contemplating heavy and abstract principles of life through his compositions - most clearly seen in works not infected by the influence of his corrupt government. This can be morally and philosophically reflected in the present as groups are still actively fighting for basic human rights and equalities.

“Inspiration found us in this respect most recently with the large-scale movements in our home state of Minnesota,” says the band. “There is much to be said about the egregiousness in our current political structure, and much that can be disgraced about certain individuals who thrive on the toxic global pedestal. Sound and art are a non-optional resource to use while expressing and existing through periods of change, uncertainty, and the cruelties along our timelines. It is our hope with this record, as all others, to inspire the same thoughts and reflections we used in creating it.”

Tracklisting:

I. "Largo"
II. "Allegro Molto"
III. "Allegretto"
IV. "Largo"
V. "Largo"

Douaumont was born of Meyer and Wees’ passion to create a new project under their Pale Noise label – one with more immediate composition and aesthetic world-building, as opposed to their death metal inspired Rictus project. Given a desire to further explore Meyer’s seven string bass, Douaumont effectively replaces the role that a guitar has in most modern metal outfits.

“Douaumont exists in a constant state of immediate reflection on moments through life,” the duo explains. “While this could be said about all of our projects, Douaumont aims to create a sharper image of a shorter window in time, and there is no preconception as to what a Dou release will sound like before going into pre-production. Experimentation has been present in our workflow since we started working together in 2014, but never so aesthetically grounded/accessible while still being able to effectively do whatever we want to like in Douaumont.”

DSCH: String Quartet No. 8 still follows this model of experimentation, but also attempts to capture the feeling Meyer and Wees experienced while listening to and studying the original work. “This string quartet piece is often referred to as ‘the metal string quartet’ by a lot of people even outside the genre, and the goal here was to really MAKE it that,” the band says.

Pre-orders for DSCH: String Quartet No. 8 are available now via Pale Noise Media’s Bandcamp page

FREAKS AND CLOWNS Featuring ASTRAL DOORS Members Reveal "Justice Elite" Video

Swedish heavy metallers Freaks And Clowns have unveiled their new video "Justice Elite". The track is the first to be shared from the band's second album, Justice Elite, set for international release on October 16th via Metalville Records.

Classic hard rock meets modern power metal: this is the sound of Freaks And Clowns. The band, founded by Astral Doors drummer Johan Lindstedt and singer Chrille Wahlgren, who is popular in his homeland of Sweden, is completely dedicated to honest, straightforward heavy metal.

It all begin in 2017, when the two met in the studio in their hometown of Borlänge to exchange some song ideas. It soon became clear that the influences of classic heavy metal combined with modern sounds would be the path they wanted to follow together in the future. In addition to guitarist Mathias Henrysson, guitarist Mats Gesar and bassist Ulf Lagerström were two more Astral Doors musicians who joined the band.

After the self-titled debut album, released by Metalville in October 2019, Freaks And Clowns set about putting the still-abundant ideas for new songs into practice. The 11 tracks on the follow-up, Justice Elite, which will be released on October 16th, are once again taking no prisoners and pushing forward at full speed from the very first moment. Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

"Justice Elite"
"Man With The Power"
"Welcome To The Freakshow"
"Guardian Angels"
"I'm Alive"
"The End Song"
"One For All - All For One"
"Hell Yeah"
"Flames Of Fury"
"Am I The One Or The Victim"
"Madman On Vacation"
"More Than Meets The Eye"

CHASTAIN Cover BLACK SABBATH Classic "War Pigs"; Rare 1988 Live Video Unearthed

For one of the few times, if not the only time, Chastain performed the Black Sabbath classic, "War Pigs". You can watch the performance below.

The band - featuring singer Leather Leone, guitarist David T. Chastain, bassist Mike Skimmerhorn, and drummer Les Sharp - played a show in a small club on an off night in New Jersey in September 1988. Fortunately it was being recorded for history. Even if it was a single camera video and in mono.

Divebomb Records recently released the 30th Anniversary edition of For Those Who Dare, adhering to Chastain's original intent by restoring Steve Fontano's (Prairie Sun Studios) more balanced mix - as well as additional background vocals, ad libs, and "ear candy" that have long been missing from the Roadrunner release in 1990.

As usual, the disc has also been remastered by Jamie King Audio, and is packaged alongside a detailed booklet - revised and expanded from Divebomb's initial 2010 reissue to include additional photographs and a retrospective interview with David T. Chastain and Leather Leone. For the fans, by the fans!

Tracklisting:

"For Those Who Dare"
"Night Of Anger"
"I Am The Rain"
"Please Set Us Free"
"Secrets Of The Damned"
"Light In The Dark"
"The Mountain Whispers"
"Barracuda"
"Not Much Breathing"
"Once Before"

Bonus Demo Tracks

LEAVES' EYES Release Video For "Chain Of The Golden Horn", Next Track From Upcoming Album The Last Viking

LEAVES' EYES published their new single/video "Chain Of The Golden Horn" from the upcoming “The Last Viking” album to be released on October 23 via AFM Records.

“The Last Viking” is the 2020-monumental-piece of LEAVES’ EYES. The setting of the symphonic metal masterpiece couldn’t be more tremendous. With their cult-albums “Vinland Saga” (2005) and “King of Kings” (2015) they already turned Leif Erikssons discovery of America and the life of Norway’s first king into music. Now, LEAVES’ EYES bring the Viking Sagas to their bombastic finale.

LEAVES’ EYES have always played in a league of their own. They have toured all populated continents, frequently reach top positions in the album charts and with every output they deliver a multimedia masterpiece when it comes to video clips and artwork. With “The Last Viking” they surpass their own standards with the original film documentary “Viking Spirit”.

This album won’t be the closure of LEAVES’ EYES – it only fuels expectations what these geniuses will come up next with. With “The Last Viking” LEAVES’ EYES set up their own musical monument that is just as captivating and strong as the saga of the last Viking King itself.
