STORM FORCE Pay Tribute To Late BRIGHTON ROCK Frontman GERRY McGHEE; Video

Brighton Rock vocalist, Gerald Damian "Gerry" McGhee (pictured above), passed away after a battle with cancer on August 25, 2020. Storm Force, who's lineup features Brighton Rock guitarist Greg Fraser, paid tribute to McGhee at a recent show in Hamilton, ON (Canada).

A message states: "The band played the classic BR song ‘We Came To Rock’ to Gerald’s very enthusiastic, emotional hometown crowd. We all miss you Gerry!"

Last month, Storm Force unleashed a stunning re-working of "Uninvited", by fellow Canadian icon, Alanis Morrissette.

"What started as an impromptu jam while working on songs for the next Storm Force album, quickly developed into something really special we wanted to share right away!" says singer Patrick Gagliardi.

The new single, "Uninvited", is once again produced by Darius Szczepaniak and features legendary special guest keyboardist Ray Coburn (Roger Hodgson, Honeymoon Suite, Corey Hart). The single is available now on all digital services. The new album will be tentatively arriving in fall 2023.

DEEP PURPLE - The Visual History To Arrive Next Summer; Pre-Order To Launch This Week; New Video Trailer Streaming

DEEP PURPLE - The Visual History To Arrive Next Summer; Pre-Order To Launch This Week; New Video Trailer Streaming

Rufus Publishing has released a teaser video for the upcoming book, Deep Purple - The Visual History, available in summer 2023.

Renowned music journalist Chris Charlesworth has revised his original text from the 1983 edition of his book and added new Introduction and Aftermath chapters. The new look book has been completely redesigned and expanded to over 500 colour pages and now incorporates hundreds of photographs and images, some seen for the first time, including a series of unpublished images from the Made In Japan concerts from 1972.

Researched in 1982 through original interviews with members of Deep Purple, the book covers the period between the band’s formation in 1968 through to their eventual break-up in 1976. Forthright and remarkably detailed, it is the ultimate treasure trove of the era when Deep Purple established their legendary status. The book is also personally signed throughout by six of the original band members from this time: David Coverdale, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Glenn Hughes, Ian Paice, and Nick Simper and comes in two editions, expected to ship at the end of June 2023.

Pre-order will launch on Wednesday, November 30 at 3 PM, UK time, here.

ROB HALFORD On Performing With K.K. DOWNING At ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME: 'It Just Felt Like He Was Always There'

ROB HALFORD On Performing With K.K. DOWNING At ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME: 'It Just Felt Like He Was Always There'

In a new interview with the San Antonio Current, JUDAS PRIEST singer Rob Halford was asked if performing with original PRIEST guitarist K.K. Downing at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame ceremony helped put aside some of the acrimony that K.K. has shown about not being in band for these last few tours. Halford responded: "I think we should let the music speak for itself, really, because as you'll see from the performance — I think it's going to be on HBO soon — you'll see that all of that other stuff is irrelevant. All the things that have been said and suggested just float off into the air. What matters is what's going down on that stage at that time you're performing together. And there he is on my right-hand side. It just felt like he was always there. Look behind me and there's ['70s-era PRIEST drummer Les Binks], and the memories just are overwhelming. But, more than that, you're focusing on the moment that you're back together again and playing live. It was really a whirlwind. We were in each other's company for a very, very short space of time. We had very little time to communicate. But for the purpose of the induction of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame together, it was absolutely crucial that K.K. and Les were there. They were inducted, they needed to be in the room. And more than that, we were thrilled that they took the opportunity to say, 'Yeah, we'll come and jam on stage again with you guys.'"

PRIEST received the Musical Excellence Award at the event, which honored Eminem, Dolly Parton, DURAN DURAN, Lionel Richie, Pat Benatar, EURYTHMICS and Carly Simon in the Performers category.

The JUDAS PRIEST members who got inducted include current members Halford (vocals),Ian Hill (bass),Glenn Tipton (guitar) and Scott Travis (drums),along with former members Downing, Binks and late drummer Dave Holland.

Halford, Hill, Tipton and Travis were joined by Binks, Downing and current guitarist Richie Faulkner for a three-song medley consisting of "You've Got Another Thing Comin'", "Breaking The Law" and "Living After Midnight".

PRIEST was inducted into the Rock Hall by fellow rock legend Alice Cooper, who described them as "the definitive metal band." He added: "They defined the sound we know of heavy metal and their sound is unmistakable. And what can you say about Rob Halford's voice? Never have screams covered such a range. Is there any emotion that he can't express?

"They're electrifying on stage and one of the hardest-hitting live bands in the history of rock and roll. PRIEST has carried the flag of hard rock and heavy metal proudly for something like 50 years, never wavering or following trends or pretending to be anything but exactly what they are," Cooper said. "They are flying high tonight. Much deserved and long overdue."

In his acceptance speech, Halford told the crowd: "I'm the gay guy in the band. We call ourselves the heavy metal community which is all-inclusive, no matter what your sexual identity is, what you look like, or what you believe in or don't believe in. Everybody's welcome."

Halford also addressed the fact that PRIEST recently celebrated its 50th anniversary, saying: "We should get out another 50 years, but the joy about music is that it lives forever. And that's the reason why we're here. We live for heavy metal. We live for music. And we're living for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame."

In an interview with Lauren "Lern" Elwell of the KSHE radio station, Halford was asked what it was like performing with Downing and Binks at the Rock Hall. He said: "It was good. We hadn't seen [Downing] forever. And I've still yet to watch footage of that. All I remember is my brief interactions with K.K., because I'm always running around the stage like a mad drag queen. My interactions with Ken and with Les, it was great. It felt wonderful to have that moment together after such a long time. And that just shows you the power, the weight, the vibe that the Rock Hall suggests you try to attempt. Try and recapture something of the essence that it really part of why you're here, why you're being inducted. I was just so happy that Ken and Les showed up, because they needed to be there. It was entirely their choice, but I said it makes absolute sense if you're in the room and we're playing together. And we did, and it was magical."

Last month, Hill was asked by the Detroit Metro Times if he thought there was any chance of ever reconciling with Downing and him rejoining PRIEST. Hill responded: "I think time is not on our side for that, you know? Never say never, put it like that. [Downing's] gonna be there at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame anyway. He's gonna get up and play some songs with us there. It might kickstart something; I don't know. On the other hand, he might pull us all apart. [Laughs]"

Earlier last month, Downing confirmed to Ultimate Classic Rock that his goal with the Rock Hall performance was "to represent the attitude and hopefully the legend of what JUDAS PRIEST is and has become and what it means to everybody who's been on that very long journey through the decades with the band. And hopefully it will just kind of remind people and bring back some cherished memories of the heavy metal parking lots all around the world."

Downing added that performing with PRIEST again would be like riding the proverbial bicycle, more than a decade after the guitarist last played with the band. "It's what I've done so many times," Downing said. "It's almost like cracking a beer, let alone riding a bike. It's embedded in me. It's what I do. So it'll be quite something to look forward to, just to get up there and crank the amps up and just do it once again, for that short moment in time."

Downing left PRIEST in 2011 amid claims of band conflict, shoddy management and declining quality of performance.

In 2019, Downing said that he reached out to JUDAS PRIEST about taking part in the band's 50th-anniversary tour but that their response was that they were not interested in including him in the celebrations.

In 2018, Downing revealed that he sent two resignation letters to his bandmates when he decided to quit JUDAS PRIEST. The first was described as "a graceful exit note, implying a smooth retirement from music," while the second was "angrier, laying out all of his frustrations with specific parties."

Downing later said that he believed the second letter was "a key reason" he wasn't invited to rejoin PRIEST after Tipton's decision to retire from touring.

JUDAS PRIEST was on the ballot for Rock Hall induction in 2020, but failed to receive enough votes to make that year's class.

Having been eligible for induction since 1999, PRIEST was also on the ballot for the 2018 class of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, but was ultimately left out of the inductee list.

NICKELBACK's CHAD KROEGER Is 'One Of The Great Rock Songwriters Of Our Time'

NICKELBACK's CHAD KROEGER Is 'One Of The Great Rock Songwriters Of Our Time'

During a new appearance on the "Pat's Soundbytes Unplugged" podcast, NICKELBACK bassist Mike Kroeger called his brother, NICKELBACK frontman Chad Kroeger, "one of the great rock songwriters of our time. I think he belongs in the conversation of the greats of this moment in history and of the last 20 years," he added. "And it's okay [if some people don't give him enough credit]. History will be the ultimate judge. And it's all right.

"We never got into this thing for accolades of our contemporaries or communities or award shows or any stuff like that; that's never really been the motivator for us, to, 'Oh, we've just gotta get out there and win a Grammy,'" he explained.

"This is another opinion. Art is an opinion. We create opinions to put out there and then people have their own opinions about that.

"Every person, I think, interprets a song in a different way, and I think that's kind of the magic of it," Mike added. "You can throw the same song at 10 different people, and you might get 10 different answers about what is it about to them, what does it mean to them, what does it make them feel. I think that's the great part about music."

NICKELBACK's history dates back to 1995 in Hanna, Alberta, where they got their start playing covers in a band called VILLAGE IDIOT, a nod to the small-town nature where they played and grew up. In 1996, Chad, alongside Ryan Peake, made the 10-hour trek west to follow Mike to Vancouver, British Columbia, where the band still resides and continues to make music today.

The band's numerous smash hits, coupled with worldwide sales of over 50 million albums sold, seals their status as one of the top-selling acts of all time and the second best-selling foreign act of the 2000s in the U.S., behind only THE BEATLES. The wildly popular smash hit "How You Remind Me" was named Billboard's "Top Rock Song Of The Decade", which was a contributing factor in the publication's decision to crown NICKELBACK "Top Rock Group Of The Decade" shortly after.

Beyond their Juno Awards, the group has received nine Grammy Award nominations, three American Music Awards, a World Music Award, a People's Choice Award and seven MuchMusic Video Awards. They were inducted into Canada's Walk Of Fame in 2007.

NICKELBACK's tenth studio album, titled "Get Rollin'", was released on November 18.

BILLY SHEEHAN Says MR. BIG Has Found New Drummer; 2023 Live Shows In The Works

BILLY SHEEHAN Says MR. BIG Has Found New Drummer; 2023 Live Shows In The Works

Billy Sheehan says that MR. BIG has found a new drummer and is hoping to play some shows again starting next summer.

The 69-year-old bassist made the comment while addressing MR. BIG's decision to go on hiatus following the passing of Pat Torpey. The drummer died in February 2018 at the age of 64 from complications of Parkinson's disease.

Asked in a new interview with Conversaciones Necias if there are plans for MR. BIG to return to the road any time soon, Billy said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Yes. We wanna play again. [Former MR. BIG touring drummer] Matt Starr did an amazing drumming job. He's fantastic. He was friends with Pat. When Pat couldn't play his kit but still could tour, he toured together with Matt and they were very dear friends. But we need a guy that has Pat's voice. And Matt's got a great voice but it's a different range. We need a guy [who can sing] way up here," he explained while raising his right hand just above his head. "So we found somebody. We'll let the world know about it soon. And we're hoping to do some shows maybe in the summer 2023."

Earlier in the month, MR. BIG singer Eric Martin opened the door for renewed activity from the band while speaking to Chile's Radio Futuro. Asked if there are any plans for MR. BIG to get back together, Eric said: "If you asked Paul [Gilbert, MR. BIG guitarist], he'd go, 'Oh, well. I don't know. Never say never.' And same thing, Billy would go, 'Well, you know, it would be a good idea.' But I'm here to tell you that there is a rumor. Did I start this rumor? I don't know.

"I believe that there are big things coming," Eric said cryptically. "I keep saying that, and I want people to believe me that we're not down for the count. It's not over. I think we've got some things to do."

Martin said earlier in the interview that he still gets asked all the time if there is any chance of him reuniting with his MR. BIG bandmates.

"I miss MR. BIG; I really do," he said. "I've been waiting for MR. BIG to maybe do something for the last four or five years now, since Pat Torpey passed away. And even though I've been doing it for years and years, incorporating MR. BIG songs in my set and playing my solo stuff, I like playing the songs of MR. BIG.

"The band, we've been on kind of a permanent hiatus for the last four years — four or five years — and I miss playing MR. BIG songs," he added. "People ask me to play solo stuff all the time, but the majority of people love the songs of MR. BIG — from the hard, fast rockers to those little spluffy, warm and fuzzy ballads. They love it. So I give the people what they want."

This past August, Sheehan said that MR. BIG was "strongly considering" playing some shows in 2023. Speaking to Dr. Music, Billy said at the time: "We might do some MR. BIG [dates] at some point next year. We're not sure. Possibly."

Asked if MR. BIG has found another drummer to step in for Torpey after utilizing Matt Starr for much of the recording sessions on MR. BIG's last studio album, "Defying Gravity", as well as on the road, Sheehan said: "Possibly. We're looking at a couple of people. We loved playing with Matt Starr — he was really great — but we need a higher-pitched voice. Matt's a great singer but he doesn't have the range that Pat Torpey had. And to make everything sound the way it did, we're gonna need that extra thing there. So that makes it a little difficult for us and it narrows the field down. But there's a couple of people we might look into. But we still don't know."

Billy added: "After we did the shows without Pat — the first time after we lost him — again, Matt Starr did a great job. But it wasn't Pat; Pat wasn't there. So I'm glad we took some time — a couple of years — to just kind of lay off of it. But a lot of people write all the time and they really wanna see the band. We would like to play for them too. So we'll see. Nothing's for certain at this point, but we're certainly strongly considering it."

In May 2020, Sheehan gave an interview to the "Music Mania" podcast in which he claimed that a "mastering problem" with MR. BIG's latest album, "Defying Gravity", which came out five years ago, made the LP "unlistenable." He went on to say that "the label ruined the record" by insisting on having the album and "putting it out when it's not ready." He explained: "If we had another day to get it to proper mastering and get it done right, it would have been fine. 'Cause I was there for the final mixes — I went in there every day and listened to mixes. Pat was there with us too. We went through the mixes, and they were sounding great. And, unfortunately, we got screwed.

"I've seen it before in many other situations with many other bands," he added. "We've got the marketing department and they're ready to go and they've gotta have the record now. And then I've also seen other bands just say, 'No. The record is not done. You're out of luck.' And I wish we would have just said that, because I just don't think the record had the kind of life it had when I heard the final mixes."

A short time later, Frontiers Music Srl released a statement clarifying that it wasn't the label responsible for "ruining" "Defying Gravity", which marked Torpey's final recorded appearance with MR. BIG.

"Defying Gravity" was released via Wowow Entertainment, Inc. in Japan and Frontiers Music Srl in most of the rest of the world.

After announcing his Parkinson's diagnosis in 2014, Torpey continued to write, record and perform with MR. BIG.

MR. BIG, formed in 1988, produced numerous hit songs that ranged across a wide array of rock genres — be it ballads, heavy metal, or blues rock. Their hits include "Alive And Kicking", "Just Take My Heart" and the chart-topping ballad "To Be With You".

In February 2021, MR. BIG released a new live set, "Raw Like Sushi Mega Edition - Revive 2017: 2017 Japan Tour Official Bootleg Box". A complete collection of MR. BIG's 2017 performances in Japan, it features all nine concerts which took place between September and October of that year.

A-Z Feat. FATES WARNING Bandmates Release "Borrowed Time" Lyric Video

A-Z, the band formed by Fates Warning icons Ray Alder and Mark Zonder, have released a new lyric video for the track, "Borrowed Time", from the band's self-titled, debut album that came out in August 2022. Watch below:

In early 2020, famed former drummer for Fates Warning and Warlord, Mark Zonder, began working on new material with the vision of beginning a new, full-time band that would offer something different from his current catalog. The mission was to deliver straightforward, no-frills hard rock that speaks to a broader audience. The end result, which sees Zonder reunite with Fates Warning lead vocalist Ray Alder, along with bassist Philip Bynoe (Steve Vai, Warlord), guitarist Joop Wolters, and keyboardist Vivien Lalu, is A-Z.

Order the album here.

A-Z tracklisting:

"Trial By Fire"
"The Far Side Of The Horizon"
"The Machine Gunner"
"Rise Again"
"Window Panes"
"Run Away"
"Stranded"
"At The Waters Edge"
"Borrowed Time"
"Sometimes"

When Mark Zonder, famed former Fates Warning and Warlord drummer, started working on material in early 2020 he had a very clear vision for the band he wanted to put together. "I was thinking beer commercials, car commercials, and Cobra Kai. I wanted to have a very accessible band that would appeal to the masses and would lead to the ability to tour larger venues and build a second and third record off the success of the first. I did not want to hear things like, 'I don't hear a single, it is too proggy, I just don't get it, let me listen to it a few more times'. I knew from myself and the others that I would recruit, it would have some sophisticated music parts but the big hook was the main priority." The result was A-Z, and while Zonder is adamant it is not a supergroup that is doing a 'one and done' record it has a stellar lineup, reuniting him with Fates Warning vocalist Ray Alder, Warlord/Steve Vai/Ring of Fire bassist Philip Bynoe, guitarist Joop Wolters and keyboardist Vivien Lalu, the combination of these players stirring up a very specific kind of magic that could not be replicated.

Things came together smoothly from the start, Zonder sending drum patterns and grooves to first recruit Lalu, and he would write songs using guitar sounds so between the two of them they had basic song structures pretty quickly. Zonder knew Bynoe would jump on board as they have a long history and mutual respect and Lalu had worked with Wolters for years, recruiting him for the band. Both Wolters and Lalu brought in great musical ideas that were turned into songs. The goal was always the same: shorter songs and getting right to the chorus, no twelve-minute songs, and everyone found it easy working to this remit. With everything else coming together nicely, finding the right singer was the hardest aspect of the whole process.

"I had sent out a basic song to over 20 different singers, some popular named singers and some unknown, but completely struck out," says Zonder. "Then I just decided to call Ray as I was not sure what he was up to. I figured it could not hurt to get in touch. I do remember speaking with him back in the day and him talking about how he loved this kind of music. I sent him a track or two and he just killed it." Adds Alder, "I found this a chance to do something completely different than what I am used to, being in a prog metal band for 30 years. I find the blend of the 80s, 90s and a touch of 70s style of music very cool, and it is great to work with Mark after all of these years." Thrilled to have him on board, Zonder did not have a list of demands. "My only words to him were 'do whatever you want.' I was not going to tell him what to do. Same for all of the others guys. Yes, there has to be some editing and making decisions, but when it came to the music I just wanted everyone to do what they do best." The results are undeniable, from the high octane stomper "The Machine Gunner", to the gorgeous sway of "Rise Again" or the towering "Stranded", every track an anthem that sounds like only the biggest venues could contain them.

The band's name came courtesy of Alder - A-Z = Alder thru Zonder - and it fit straight away. "What I liked is that it did not limit what someone would think of the band. If we named the band Scary Serpent it would give a certain direction and I did not want people to prejudge the band and record," Zonder says. Likewise, self-titling the record made sense. "I did not want to give a direction idea to the audience. If we named the album Far Side of the Horizon, people would probably think 'prog band'. But if you named it The Machine Gunner, it would give a totally different direction for thought." For artwork, wanting to again get the best possible contributor, they turned to the famed Hugh Syme (Rush, Fates Warning), who delivered the vivid image of a zebra eating an apple, encompassing the band name in a sly way. "Again, hire the best people you can find and just let them do what they do. The artwork is absolutely fantastic and really fits the whole concept. He is truly the best. Just a great guy to work with."

A-Z lineup:

Ray Alder - Lead and Backing Vocals
Philip Bynoe - Bass Guitar
Vivien Lalu - Keyboards
Joop Wolters - Guitars
Mark Zonder - Drums

CURRENTS Share New Song "Vengeance"; Lyric Video Streaming

Connecticut metalcore dynamos, Currents, have dropped a lyric video for the new song, "Vengeance". Watch below, and stream the song here.

"'Vengeance' is the manifestation of pent-up aggression over the last few years since the release of our album The Way it Ends," says singer Brian Wille. "It's becoming disillusioned, taking yourself to places you never thought you'd be, and the rage and despair that comes along with that. It also talks about the desire to let those feelings go and to move forward, but not without digging deeper into that negativity first and exploring the satisfaction that comes with the right revenge..."

"Vengeance" follows the recently released track "The Death We Seek". Watch the video below. Expect more from Currents in 2023, including a support slot on the Parkway Drive Winter 2023 tour.

On November 14th, DReam Theater guitarist John Petrucci brought his Terminal Velocity solo tour to the Pabst Theater in Milwaukee, WI. High Quality fan-filmed videio of the entire show is available below.

The setlist was as follows:

"Terminal Velocity"
"The Happy Song"
"Jaws of Life"
"The Oddfather"
"Gemini"
"Out of the Blue"
"Tunnel Vision"
"Damage Control"
"Snake in My Boot"
"Temple of Circadia"

Encore:
"Glasgow Kiss"

Petrucci kicked off his first-ever headlining solo tour of North America on October 5th in Providence, RI. The day after the show, he guested on Rob Rush Radio and commented on hitting the stage with former Drean Theater drummer Mike Portnoy for the first time in 12 years.

Petrucci recently spoke with Guitar World about reuniting with Portnoy for the tour, performing instrumental music outside of Dream Theater, and the differences between Portnoy and his replacement, Mike Mangini, as players in Dream Theater. Following is an excerpt from the interview.

Q: This tour sees you sharing the stage with Mike Portnoy for the first time since 2010. What sort of emotions course through you as you hit the stage?

Petrucci: "It's great to be playing with Mike again; it really is. The chemistry between us is so natural, probably because we've known each other since we were 18. And as you know, we played together forever, so even with the passing of time, in some ways, it feels like no time has passed at all.

It's funny because I've often said that this whole tour feels like I'm jamming in the basement with my friends, like when we were little (laughs). So, it's a great feeling to reconnect musically with Mike and to do this together; it's been awesome."

Q: Can you dig deeper into the chemistry that not just you and Mike share but this touring unit in general?

Petrucci: "This group of people on stage with me each night is awesome, man. With Dave LaRue (bass), I used to go see him play with Steve Morse and the Dixie Dregs, and I remember watching him and thinking, 'Wow. I really would love to play with that guy. He's phenomenal.' So, since I got asked to do G3 back in 2001, I've toured with Dave, and Dave has done every G3 tour, all my Guitar Universe camps, and he played bass on both my solo albums. So, he and I have great musical chemistry that fits like a glove.

And with Mike, like I said, we have that long history of meeting at Berkeley and being in Dream Theater together for 25 years, so when the three of us get together, it's awesome. And what's even cooler, Dave plays with Mike on another project called Flying Colors, so we're all very comfortable, and as a trio, we sound great off the bat. Everybody's super professional, very prepared, and playing their asses off. It couldn't be better."

REX BROWN Calls PANTERA's New Lineup 'A Monster': 'This Is Gonna Be One Hell Of A Ride'

REX BROWN Calls PANTERA's New Lineup 'A Monster': 'This Is Gonna Be One Hell Of A Ride'

Rex Brown has made his first public comments about PANTERA's return to the live stage.

As previously reported, the reformed band — featuring PANTERA's surviving members Brown (bass) and Philip Anselmo (vocals) along with guitarist Zakk Wylde (OZZY OSBOURNE, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY) and drummer Charlie Benante (ANTHRAX) — will headline a number of major festivals across North America, South America and Europe and stage some of their own headline concerts.

It was first reported in July that Anselmo and Brown will unite with Wylde and Benante (ANTHRAX) for a world tour under the PANTERA banner.

According to Billboard, the lineup has been given a green light by the estates of the band's founders, drummer Vincent "Vinnie Paul" Abbott and guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, as well as Brown, who last year said Wylde wouldn't tour with PANTERA if a reunion were to happen. It's unclear what changed his mind.

PANTERA will play its first shows in over 20 years in December 2022, starting with a co-headlining slot at Mexico's Hell & Heaven Metal Fest and Monterrey Metal Fest, followed by appearances at three Knotfest festivals in South America. There will also be a one-off show with JUDAS PRIEST in São Paulo, Brazil and a headlining concert in Santiago.

Late Friday night (November 25), Rex took to his Instagram to share a photo of him with Wylde and Benante, which the ANTHRAX drummer had previously posted to his socials, and he included the following message: "Get ready folks, this is gonna be one Hell of a Ride…And then some!! This was the start of the ZW sessions that grew into a Monster…5 days 'til Mexico City!! Bolt in….. @panteraofficial #pantera #hellandheavenmetalfest #mexicocity".

Confirmed PANTERA shows so far:

Dec. 02 - Texicoco, Mexico - Hell & Heaven Metal Fest
Dec. 06 - Monterrey, Mexico – Monterrey Metal Fest
Dec. 09 - Bogotá, Colombia – Knotfest Colombia
Dec. 11 - Santiago, Chile - Knotfest Chile
Dec. 12 - Santiago, Chile - Movistar Arena
Dec. 15 - São Paulo, Brazil – Vibra São Paulo (with JUDAS PRIEST)
Dec. 18 - São Paulo, Brazil – Knotfest Brazil
May 26 - Sofia, Bulgaria - Armeets Arena
May 27 - Bucharest, Romania - Metalhead Meeting Open Air Festival
May 30 - Budapest, Hungary - Barba Negra
May 31 - Vienna, Austria - Gasometer
Jun. 2-4 - Nürburgring, Germany - Rock Am Ring
Jun. 2-4 - Nürnberg, Germany - Rock Im Park
Jun. 05 - Lodz, Poland - Atlas Arena
Jun. 8-10 - Hyvinkää, Finland - Rockfest
Jun. 10 - Sölvesborg, Sweden – Sweden Rock Festival
Jun. 12 - Prague, Czech Republic - O2 Arena
Jun. 13 - Berlin, Germany - Verti Music Hall
Jun. 15 - Copenhagen, Denmark – Copenhell
Jun. 15-18 - Dessel, Belgium - Graspop Metal Meeting
Jun. 21 - Hamburg, Germany - Edel Optics
Jun. 22-24 - Oslo, Norway - Tons Of Rock

Benante told SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk" about how he plans to approach the PANTERA gig: "I can't go do this as the drummer from ANTHRAX because it would be a different sound completely. So the way I'm gonna do that is if you close your eyes, it's gonna sound like it's Vinnie, basically. And that's how it's gonna be. The sound is gonna sound exactly like him."

Wylde said that he had a similar mindset. "You approach it the same way as you do when I'm playing with Ozzy," he said. "Obviously I've gotta learn [Randy] Rhoads's stuff and I've gotta learn Jake's [E. Lee] stuff, and when I was doing the [BLACK] SABBATH stuff, you learn it and do it as faithful as you can. Charlie's gotta learn all of Vinnie's parts. You approach it as if you're in a cover band. When we do the ZAKK SABBATH stuff," referring to his BLACK SABBATH cover band, "I don't start changing lyrics midway through 'War Pigs'. You learn the songs — so that's what you do."

A year ago, Anselmo said that he was up for reuniting with Brown for a special tour celebrating the music of PANTERA. The 54-year-old singer, who has spent the past few years playing a PANTERA-centric set with his solo band, THE ILLEGALS, discussed the possibility of re-teaming with his former PANTERA bandmate during an interview with Brazil's Inside With Paulo Baron. Asked if he and Rex would be open to playing some shows in celebration of PANTERA's legacy, Anselmo said: "If Rex and I had a show to play, or we were ever gonna be on stage again together, I would welcome it with open arms. I love Rex. And he'd be the same way. We're brothers forever. So playing on stage together, or doing some shows together, is not out of the question. It could happen."

In April 2021, Rex told Eonmusic that he and Philip still get offers for a PANTERA tribute tour. "But if you don't have the other guys in the band, it's not going to sound the same," he said. "If we were ever to do something like that, it would have to be spot-on, or I wouldn't do it. It would be a tribute."

Talk about a possible PANTERA "reunion" intensified when Anselmo regularly joined Wylde's BLACK LABEL SOCIETY to perform PANTERA's song "I'm Broken" during DOWN's 2014 stint on the "Revolver Golden Gods Tour". That buzz only got stronger after Brown joined the jam on May 23, 2014 when the tour swung through Texas.

Up until his passing, Vinnie remained on non-speaking terms with Anselmo, whom the drummer indirectly blamed for Dimebag's death.

Vinnie Paul and Dimebag co-founded PANTERA. When PANTERA broke up in 2003, they formed DAMAGEPLAN. On December 8, 2004, while performing with DAMAGEPLAN at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio, Dimebag was shot and killed onstage by a troubled schizophrenic who believed that the members of PANTERA were stealing his thoughts.

PANTERA is managed by Scott McGhee of 1 Degree Music Entertainment. The band's legal representative is Nick Ferrara And Associates. PANTERA is booked internationally by Rod MacSween at ITB. Artist Group International will book PANTERA's North American dates, with Dennis Arfa and Peter Pappalardo as the responsible agents.

'Metal Drummer Of The Year' JAY WEINBERG Of SLIPKNOT Is 'Incredibly Grateful' For The Recognition

'Metal Drummer Of The Year' JAY WEINBERG Of SLIPKNOT Is 'Incredibly Grateful' For The Recognition

In a new interview with WSOU 89.5 FM, SLIPKNOT drummer Jay Weinberg was asked how it felt for him to have been named No. 1 metal drummer in Modern Drummer magazine's 2022 Readers' Poll. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "It's awesome. I'm incredibly grateful for that recognition and that people are in tune with what we're doing, with what I'm doing. It's not the goal of setting out to be in a band and work really hard at making the music that you love, but to have that happen is… It's quite surreal to go from being a Modern Drummer reader all my life to receiving a recognition like that. It's a real honor. It's a real testament to our fanbase and everybody tuning in to what we're about and what I've been up to these last nine years. It's awesome. I'm very thankful. It's not the main idea, not the main goal by any stretch, but [it's] certainly cool."

When it was first announced in September that Weinberg had won Modern Drummer's 2022 Readers' Poll, he released a statement via social media in which he said: "It is truly an honor to be named Metal Drummer of the Year in the 2022 @modern_drummer Reader's Poll. I distinctly remember being a teenager, buying my first copy of Modern Drummer Magazine at my local drum shop. It's surreal and humbling to receive this recognition.

"Thank you so much to Modern Drummer, the entire MD community, and everyone who voted. Your support means the world to me.

"Tomas, Brann, Eloy, and Matt: you guys know how much your music means to me. Thank you all for the endless inspiration you've given the worldwide drumming community, and for everything you do to push the instrument forward.

"Thank you to my wife @chloweinberg, our dog @hiya___papaya, my parents and siblings, and my bandmates in @slipknot for the love and encouragement. I owe you all a debt of gratitude I can never repay.

"To everyone who's been in my corner all these years, thank you so much. I sincerely appreciate it."

Jay discovered SLIPKNOT when he was a pre-teen, through his father Max, of Bruce Springsteen's E STREET BAND, and leader of the house band on Conan O'Brien's talk show. He was hooked immediately and was a huge fan of SLIPKNOT by the time he was invited to Los Angeles to try out as replacement for Joey Jordison in 2013.

For the first few months after the release of 2014's ".5: The Gray Chapter", the members of SLIPKNOT had declined to name the musicians who were playing drums and bass on their tour, despite the fact that their identities were revealed as Weinberg and bassist Alessandro "Vman" Venturella by a disgruntled former drumtech for SLIPKNOT who posted a picture of a backstage call sheet on Instagram.

SLIPKNOT announced its split with Jordison in December 2013 but did not disclose the reasons for his exit. The drummer subsequently issued a statement saying that he did not quit the group.

Jordison passed away "peacefully in his sleep" in July 2021 of an unspecified cause. He was 46 years old.

Asked in a 2016 interview with Music Radar how respectful he felt he had to be to Joey's legacy, and how much he felt he was free to make it his own, Weinberg said: "Having a massive respect for the band's music, having a massive respect for Joey Jordison as a person and as a player, I understood my role in needing to deliver what this band needs, and understanding what Joey brought to the table, and having this band's legacy continue in the way that the Maggots, the fans of the band, respect, and the nine of us feeling proud of the music we're creating.

"Of course, the history of the band feeds into what I think of the band, but when it came time to come up with new material, new songs, I didn't think about Joey Jordison one bit," he continued. "And I feel it would be disrespectful to do that, and the band wanted me to be completely myself. Because why would I want to be Joey Jordison, why would I try to mimic what he's done?

"Joey's one of the greatest drummers we've ever had the privilege of witnessing. So as a fan of the band and someone who respects the people and the music, I didn't want to come in and try to be a copycat. That's not interesting to me, that's not interesting to the band and it would be insulting to everyone involved, including the fans."

Prior to joining SLIPKNOT, Weinberg was a member of AGAINST ME!, having played with the Florida-based act from November 2010 until December 2012.

Weinberg joined AGAINST ME! shortly after he was ousted from MADBALL and following the departure of AGAINST ME!'s previous sticksman, George Rebelo.

In May 2013, Weinberg filled in for KVELERTAK drummer Kjetil Gjermundrod during the band's North American tour because Gjermundrod had to bow out of the run after experiencing significant pain in his arm.

FASTER PUSSYCAT Release "Like A Ghost" And "Pirate Love" Singles; Confirmed For Australia's Glam Fest 2023 Tour

FASTER PUSSYCAT Release "Like A Ghost" And "Pirate Love" Singles; Confirmed For Australia's Glam Fest 2023 Tour

Iconic rockers Faster Pussycat have released double A-side singles "Like A Ghost" and "Pirate Love" via Golden Robot Records.

This release is the first for the band under the Golden Robot umbrella with Taime Downe saying earlier this year:

"The band and I are over the moon to join the Golden Robot Records rock-n-roll family! We are super excited to release some of our badass new tunes globally – we know the label see our vision and supports the band and we feel completely at home here."

"Like A Ghost" is a track about growing up in the '70s, listening to the radio and doing what kids do and the memories it brings back. It features Taime's signature vocals carrying the song through to completion. The production on this track is second to none with blistering guitars and the band in full force.

"Pirate Love", a cover of the legend Johnny Thunders, stays true to the original with both tracks complimenting each other with strong instrumentals and killer vocals with an edge to them - everything you would expect from a top-shelf Faster Pussycat release.

The singles are available via digital platforms found here.

The double A-side single comes just a few months before Faster Pussycat are expected to hit Australian shores for Glam Fest, with an exclusive Australian tour edition of "Like A Ghost" and "Pirate Love" on coloured translucent blue 7" vinyl available to purchase at these shows with only limited stock to be made available online in 2023.

Tickets for Glam Fest 2023 can be purchased here.

PROPHETS OF ADDICTION Reveals Animated "Superhero" Video; Band Signs With Cleopatra Records

PROPHETS OF ADDICTION Reveals Animated "Superhero" Video; Band Signs With Cleopatra Records

West Coast based glam rockers Prophets Of Addiction have released a new video for their single "Superhero".

The band enlisted the services of Lonny Paul Johnson to create the animated piece. "We felt an animated video captured the whole theme of the song, and it was something I always wanted to do. This was the perfect fit," states POA mainman Lesli Sanders.

"Superhero" is the first single and video from the forthcoming, as yet untitled, Prophets Of Addiction album. The band is currently in the midst of working on this new release with longtime producer Phil Soussan (bassist for Ozzy Osbourne, Beggars And Thieves, Billy Idol, Vince Neil, Rod Stewart) at Blue Cat Studios in Las Vegas, NV.

Prophets Of Addiction's fourth album sees Sanders and company (guitarists G.G Sleaze, Tchad Drats, Terry Bratsch and drummer Wayne "The Stoke" Stokley going back towards the glam, punk and roots the band is most closely associated with. "I’ve always wanted to do a dark powerful acoustic record with a message and I think we achieved that with our last record. Now with a very strong lineup that is ready to move forward it’s time to get back to rocking," remarks Sanders. The new release is expected to hit stores in the second quarter of 2023.

The "Superhero" single / video also marks Prophets Of Addiction's signing with renowned Los Angeles based label Cleopatra Records to a seven year deal. "When searching for a home for the new release, we wanted a place that 'gets it', and felt Brian and his label Cleopatra Records was the best place. He has always kept it 'real' and is a fan of music and the scene."

REVOLUTION SAINTS Feat. DEEN CASTRONOVO, JOEL HOEKSTRA And JEFF PILSON Release "Eagle Flight" Single And Music Video

REVOLUTION SAINTS Feat. DEEN CASTRONOVO, JOEL HOEKSTRA And JEFF PILSON Release "Eagle Flight" Single And Music Video

Revolution Saints, the band centred around vocalist/drummer Deen Castronovo, have returned with a new lineup and a new single, "Eagle Flight". Castronovo is joined by new companions, bassist Jeff Pilson and guitarist Joel Hoekstra for Revolution Saints 2.0 and "Eagle Flight" is their brand new musical statement announcing their arrival. Watch the music video below.

Revolution Saints was initially put together by Serafino Perugino, President and Head of A&R for Frontiers Records, to showcase the stunning voice of Deen Castronovo (Journey, Bad English, Hardline). Castronovo has always been a well respected drummer, but fans who took note of his background vocals over his career and who attended Journey shows and saw him take lead vocals on "Mother, Father" during the band's set, came to realize he also had an amazing voice. Revolution Saints was, and always has been, a vehicle to show the world Deen's incredible singing talents.

For the first three Revolution Saints albums, Revolution Saints, Light In The Dark, and Rise, Deen was joined by bassist/vocalist Jack Blades (Night Ranger) and guitarist Doug Aldrich (The Dead Daisies, ex-Whitesnake, Dio). Produced by Alessandro Del Vecchio, those three albums brought back the classic melodic rock style that thrilled and delighted legions of fans in the ‘80s and ‘90s and still does today! Inspiring, uplifting vocals, soaring melodies, and hooks for days is what you get in spades across those three albums.

While Revolution Saints MK I left an indelible mark on the melodic rock world, it was time for MK II to be born. Deen, having recently re-joined Journey, was feeling invigorated and inspired and ready to sing his ass off. Filling Blades and Aldrich's shoes would be no easy feat, but, mercifully, the exact right guys were found for the job.

Joel Hoekstra is a current member of Whitesnake, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and Iconic, as well as having his own solo project, Joel Hoekstra's 13 and is an absolutely stunning guitar player, able to play multiple styles. Jeff Pilson, currently a member of Foreigner, Black Swan, and The End Machine, is also known for his time in Dokken and his more recent production work. Two stellar musicians to compliment Deen's singing and drumming is exactly what was needed for Revolution Saints 2.0 and that's exactly what we've got here.

Fans of Revolution Saints first three releases are going to find much to be delighted with here with the new, rejuvenated Rev Saints and their brand new single, "Eagle Flight".

A new studio album will be released in the first half of 2023. Stream/download "Eagle Flight" here.
