TREAT Streaming The Endgame Album Ahead Of Official Release

TREAT Streaming The Endgame Album Ahead Of Official Release

Frontiers Music Srl will release Swedish melodic rock band Treat's ninth studio album, The Endgame, tomorrow (Friday, April 8). Pre-order/save The Endgame on CD/LP/Digital here, and find an advanced album stream below.

Over the years, both prior to and after their reunion, Treat have established themselves as leaders in the Swedish melodic hard rock scene. With bassist Nalle Påhlsson (who appeared on Coup De Grace) back in the ranks, vocalist Robert Ernlund, guitarist Anders ”Gary” Wikström, drummer Jamie Borger, and keyboardist Patrick Appelgren have once again set a course for yet another exciting musical journey. Twelve songs in total, including uptempo rockers, ballads, '80s sounding gems, and ones with musical influences beyond the ordinary, make this album another definitive statement by the quintet from the south of Stockholm. Produced by Peter Mansson (who also helmed Tunguska and Ghost Of Graceland), The Endgame, by all means qualifies as a true classic album from Treat.

"We always want to make albums that are better than the last one. The album title, to me, represents many things about Treat in this day and age, including the sincerity and history of the band. But also the fight to survive as a band like brothers in arms, through all these years of highs and lows, tears and laughter. Seriously, we grew up together in the '80s, learning how to make our brand of Melodic Hard Rock by heart and we still continue to work that hard even today. We're as close as a family and we're blessed to still be able to get in the ring and be on top of our game," says guitarist Anders Wikstrom. For a band that's been going for nearly four decades, inspiration and the drive to create fresh material still propels Treat.

"Well, for me, it always starts with the song, and that exciting feeling which leads to the next one, and so on. As a longtime songwriter, I trust my gut instinct, but I know the material will take new and better shape when the rest of the guys get in the creative loop, and remember, deep down we're still kids and fans of great rock music and we still get excited when a cool idea turns into a great song," says Wikstrom."We were focused on making the best possible Treat effort, and all of us decided, early on, to make this a positive and uplifting record to be proud of in the years to come. I guess we found the working process to be our sane and safe haven in the midst of this new daily life none of us could have predicted would happen," he continues. "We started the basic track recordings in Atlantis Studios in Stockholm in November 2020, moved on to Baggpipe Studios and Peter Mansson´s Mir Studios in the spring/summer of 2021 for lead vocals and overdubs, then finished mixing in Mir Studios in Stockholm in October 2021.

Most of us have our own studios at home, where we do additional tracking, but to get the sound we wanted for "The Endgame", we did take our time to find the right recording rooms and studio facilities, and the result speaks for itself!""Peter [Mansson] is one of the best rock producers I know, and also a longtime friend. He knows us inside out, pros and cons, and will always give an arm and a leg to make our vision come true. His contribution to this album as producer, recording and mixing engineer is outstanding. He´s also an excellent musician and he's become almost like a sixth member of the gang, a fantastic guy and we love him," adds Wikstrom."We really hope our fans will love this album as much we do because we made it for YOU!" he concludes.

PROJECTED Featuring SEVENDUST, ALTER BRIDGE, TREMONTI Members To Release Hypoxia Album In June

PROJECTED Featuring SEVENDUST, ALTER BRIDGE, TREMONTI Members To Release Hypoxia Album In June

Building upon the success of 2017’s release Ignite My Insanity, rock and metal supergroup Projected today announces Hypoxia, the band’s third studio album out on June 24 via Rat Pak Records.

The upcoming album features 13 brand new songs from the heralded quartet consisting of Sevendust guitarist John Connolly, Alter Bridge/Creed drummer Scott Phillips, Sevendust bassist Vince Hornsby and Tremonti guitarist Eric “E-Rock” Friedman.

Hypoxia is available for pre-order in various configurations including CD, vinyl, and cassette bundles, here.

Guitarist and singer John Connolly says, “To me, personally, it feels like the most cohesive work we’ve done especially considering it’s the first time we all went in the studio together. That in itself had a huge impact on the songwriting process. And it’s taken some time to finally get released but it feels like we’ve matured quite a bit as a band.”

Hypoxia shows a band building on its established foundation while incorporating new and exciting elements. Following the brooding album intro “Consequences,” listeners are then greeted to the crushing guitar riffs of John Connolly to open the galloping track “Dead Weight,” setting the stage for the rest of the album’s journey. Projected shows great range on this latest offering, establishing hooky and singable moments in songs like “Stain,” “Take Aim,” and “Scars” while expertly crafting classic nu-metal styles in “The Thing That’s Real,” and “Hypoxia.” Songs like “Dark” and “Death Is Mostly Permanent” showcase the band’s ability to slow things down while still keeping a foot-stomping pulse. Fans will be sure to be headbanging in no time to the latest offering by these rock and metal stalwarts.

Tracklisting:

"Consequences"
"Dead Weight"
"The Thing That’s Real"
"Stain"
"Take Aim"
"Hypoxia"

TERSIVEL Signs With Intromental Worldwide

TERSIVEL Signs With Intromental Worldwide

Intromental Worldwide welcomes the intriguing and multi-faceted act, Tersivel. The Argentinian/Swedish trio has been around for a while and have recently released their third full-length album, To The Orphic Void, through Uprising! Records, which caught the ears of the Intromental staff. A solid mixture of  melody, power, post, death, and doom metal, blends perfectly to a theatrical and very different version of progression.

Musically Tersivel is very hard to label, a young Gojira with various tributaries in the different genres, mentioned above. It just needs to be heard, plain and simple. Check them out below.

Tersivel is an Argentine metal band from Buenos Aires founded in 2004 and, since 2018, based in Malmö, Sweden. The band signed to Uprising! Records in 2021 and released their third studio album, To the Orphic Void, in early 2022.

Since its conception, the band has shown a willingness to push the genre boundaries to the limits, daring to go beyond the edge for the sake of concept and experimentation.

Deeply rooted in mythology, paganism and philosophy, Tersivel embodies concepts to explore and sublimate human emotions.

Tersivel originated in the pagan/folk metal scene over a decade ago, and while they still occasionally perform some of the old songs, their music on recent releases has been transcending and marked as genre-defying, oscillating between progressive and post-metal while incorporating death/doom influences.

Tersivel lineup:

Lian Gerbino - Vocals, guitars, bass, noise
Franco Robert - Keys, synths
Danny Ebenholtz - Drums, percussion

RISE AGAINST Shares New Interactive Video For 'Talking To Ourselves'

RISE AGAINST Shares New Interactive Video For 'Talking To Ourselves'

RISE AGAINST has shared a gripping new video for "Nowhere Generation" single "Talking To Ourselves" — a standout track about falling to complacency and feeling as though no one is listening — that features evolving and cryptic transmissions for fans to discover via QR codes, and are encouraged to follow over the next few weeks.

"The intention behind the video was to yet again shed light on us as a society and to expand on the feeling that we have progressively lost our humanity," explains director Ryan Valdez. "In our video, the QR codes represent little windows to the world outside of our bubbles, only to be dismissed and swiped onto the next event. It feels so bleak. Heartbreaking headlines are so disposable and just another hashtag buried in the news of celebrity gossip and trending dances. As we watch and Tim sings 'Are we talking to ourselves,' I hope it reminds us to be human, listen, speak up and do better."

The new video follows the February release of "Talking To Ourselves (IDLES Inner Monologue Remix)", a pulsing, synth-driven, transformative re-working by British band IDLES.

RISE AGAINST, who are currently on the road through April 22, playing the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto tonight, will head back out on tour this summer for a U.S. headline run that includes shows at The Forum in Los Angeles (July 19) and The Rooftop at Pier 17 in New York City (August 9), with support from THE USED and SENSES FAIL.

RISE AGAINST's latest album, "Nowhere Generation", saw its title track, No. 1 Rock-charting hit earn various spots on Billboard's Year-End Charts for radio airplay, including No. 4 at Mainstream Rock Songs and No. 5 at Rock Airplay Songs, as well as iHeartRadio's No. 10 most played Alternative song in 2021. The band was also Billboard's No. 9 most-played artist on rock radio in 2021, alongside Billie Eilish, FOO FIGHTERS and more.

On "Nowhere Generation", the multi-gold and platinum band draws a line in the sand with its blazing and aggressive punk rock and lyrics that shine a spotlight on the social and economical deck that has been stacked against our younger generations' pursuit of The American Dream. The album debuted at the top of multiple Billboard charts with its first week sales (No. 1 on Rock, No. 3 on Top Current Albums, No. 3 on Vinyl, and the Top 40 of the Top 200), and earned great press from outlets, including Revolver, Consequence, Loudwire, Brooklyn Vegan, Grammy.com, American Songwriter, The Line Of Best Fit, Clash and Kerrang!, among others. The album's June 4, 2021, release date was also declared "Rise Against Day" in Chicago, the band's original hometown.

Last November, RISE AGAINST shared the "Nowhere Sessions" EP, a six-track live expansion of the album that captures and celebrates the anthemic intensity of the band's renowned performances. Singles from the EP included "Talking To Ourselves (Nowhere Sessions)" and a cover of CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL's "Fortunate Son".

HIM's VILLE VALO Releases 'Loveletting' Solo Single

HIM's VILLE VALO Releases 'Loveletting' Solo Single

HIM mastermind Ville Valo has released a new single, "Loveletting", under the VV banner. "Loveletting" is taken from VV's forthcoming debut album, "Neon Noir".

Ville explains: "As fun as the funeral rites for HIM were, it took me more than a few moons to lick my wounds in the shadow of the Heartagram and come up with an excuse to strum and hum again. Eventually, I decided to put a leash on my beloved black dog and we started howling together instead of barking at each other. That's how 'Loveletting' was born."

"Loveletting" is now available across all digital platforms. An official video clip will follow at 8:00 a.m. PDT / 11 a.m. EDT.

"Neon Noir" is scheduled for release in early 2023. Belonging to the same forlorn world of woe and whimsy once conceived and governed by Valo in HIM, VV arrives with additional nuanced notes of a fine aged Cabernet.

Valo adds: "Artistically speaking, the main difference between HIM and VV is the extra line in the Heartagram, but what an exquisite line it is! It's the MAMAS AND THE PAPAS dressed up as METALLICA on their way to a Halloween bash at the Studio 54, and now who wouldn't want to witness that?"

Further details around "Neon Noir" will be released in due course. In the meantime, fans are invited to any number of VV's headline tour dates taking place next year across Europe and North America. Naturally starting in Helsinki, Finland, the 2023 extensive run reaches the U.K. in March before heading to America come April.

U.S. tickets will be available for purchase from Friday, April 15 at 10 a.m. local time.

"Loveletting" will mark Ville's first new music in over two years, following the arrival of the three-track "Gothica Fennica Vol. 1" EP, also released under the VV banner, in March 2020.

"Gothica Fennica Vol. 1" bore a strong musical resemblance to HIM and featured the tracks "Salute The Sanguine", "Run Away From The Sun" and "Saturnine Saturnalia".

HIM completed a farewell tour in 2017, closing the final chapter on the band's 26-year career. At the time, Ville explained to Kerrang! magazine why the band decided to call it a day. "We were tired of the same shit," he said. "When you've done it for a long time, at some point it doesn't taste good anymore. We started working on some stuff, it didn't sound good enough, and we didn't get the teenage buzz you're supposed get."

He also discussed the future of his artistic and musical endeavors.

"I'll be figuring out the emotions I'll be going through after the HIM period is done," he said. "That's how I experience life. I experience it through music, I'll pick up the guitar and start writing and I'm sure some of the emotions that come out of this wild ride will come through. My life is not done yet. The HIM part is done, as it is now, the chapter is closed, but the book is still unfinished…"

Formed in 1991 by Valo, guitarist Mikko "Linde" Lindström and bassist Mikko "Migé" Paananen, HIM offered the world a new take on the metal genre, which became known as "love metal" (also the title of their fourth album).

HIM in 2015 parted ways with its longtime drummer, Mika Kristian Karppinen (a.k.a. Gas Lipstick), and replaced him with Jukka "Kosmo" Kröger (formerly of HERRA YLPPÖ & IHMISET).

Three years ago, Valo teamed up with guitar legend Esa Pulliainen to record an album based on songs by the late, legendary Finnish singer Rauli "Badding" Somerjoki. The self-titled album by VILLE VALO & AGENTS was released in February 2019 and was followed by a short tour.

BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE Announces Deluxe Edition Of Self-Titled Album, Shares 'Omen' Lyric Video

BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE Announces Deluxe Edition Of Self-Titled Album, Shares 'Omen' Lyric Video

Welsh metallers BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE will release a deluxe version of their current, self-titled album on July 8, 2022 via Spinefarm/Search & Destroy. This extended release features four brand new tracks, plus "Stitches", a song previously only available as a Japanese exclusive. Following the CD and digital releases, a vinyl pressing will launch on November 11.

The video for the deluxe edition's first single, "Omen", can be seen below.

"Bullet For My Valentine (Deluxe Edition)" track listing:

01. Parasite

02. Knives

03. My Reverie

04. No Happy Ever After

05. Can't Escape The Waves

06. Bastards

07. Rainbow Veins

08. Shatter

09. Paralysed

10. Death By a Thousand Cuts

11. Omen (deluxe edition bonus track)

12. Stitches (deluxe edition bonus track)

13. No More Tears (deluxe edition bonus track)

14. Step Out From The Inside (deluxe edition bonus track)

15. This Means War (deluxe edition bonus track)

Last December, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE frontman Matt Tuck spoke to NME about the fate of the six songs which were recorded during the sessions for the band's recently released self-titled album but were left off the final track listing. Asked if the unreleased material follows in the same direction as "Bullet For My Valentine", Tuck said: "They're part of the same writing and recording process. Some of them are quite different and unique. We didn't want wanna put them on 'cause they were curvebally. But they were curvebally enough to have a spotlight on 'em post-album. We wanted the album to be a really solid, cohesive body of work from front to back and we didn't wanna throw too many creative curveballs in the album. We thought it was actually better to keep them off for standalone singles post-record and maybe have some kind of really crazy EP maybe at the end of the cycle, just so people can hear them, so they get the light of day. But, yeah, they're heavy, they're interesting, they're pushing boundaries and they're super exciting."

As for whether he thinks BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE's next album will be a mixture of 2018's "Gravity" — which he had previously described as "probably our most mellow/experimental record" — and the self-titled LP, Tuck said: "It really depends. In a year's, two years' time, whenever we decide to kind of get involved with that, we're just gonna do what we do — we're gonna see what comes out, what feels natural, what makes us happy, what makes us scared, what makes us motivated. And coming off the back of 'Gravity' and this album, we're just gonna that whole process of confidence and no-fear attitude into the writing process, and as soon as we start smiling and high-fiving, that's when we'll know we're on the right track."

"Bullet For My Valentine" arrived in November via via Spinefarm/Search & Destroy. The LP was written beginning in September 2019 with longtime producer Carl Bown, who co-produced the band's 2015 album, "Venom", and produced and mixed "Gravity".

"Gravity" saw BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE's catalog surpass one billion streams in the U.S. That accomplishment solidified BULLET's status as one of the most elite bands in the hard rock scene.

FOZZY Releases Music Video For New Single 'I Still Burn'

FOZZY Releases Music Video For New Single 'I Still Burn'

FOZZY has released the official music video for its new single, "I Still Burn". The song is taken from the band's upcoming album, "Boombox", which is due on May 6.

FOZZY frontman and wrestling superstar Chris Jericho comments: "'I Still Burn' is the story of the dreams, the passion and the fire that lie within all of us to be the absolute best we can be...and to do WHATEVER it takes to achieve the goals that make our dreams come true! The sacrifices, the losses, and the triumphs that we have all experienced make up the lyrical DNA of this song. #IStillBurn is FOZZY's mission statement, our life's work and our destiny...and we are so proud to share this message of victory with our FOZZY family!! Plus, Rich's [Ward] guitar solo fuckin rules!!!"

Ward adds: "My entire career has been about pushing to the summit of the climb, never satisfied with boiling water with the Sherpas at Base Camp 2. I've been touring and making records for three decades, and I remain as passionate as ever. 'I Still Burn' is the story of the fire that fuels that passion. This is our story!"

The newest single in FOZZY's arsenal is in good company. The band has recorded five consecutive Top 20 singles, but fans across the world know that the benchmark was set high with FOZZY's 2017 breakout hit "Judas". Reaching the Top 5 on the U.S. rock chart and boasting 55 million views on YouTube for the music video, the song has now achieved its biggest milestone yet — gold certification by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association Of America) for accumulating 500,000 certified units.

Addressing the news of "Judas" going gold, Jericho said: "Being awarded a gold record has been a dream of mine ever since I started listening to THE BEATLES at nine years old and saw a picture of them getting an award for 'Beatles VI'. Then as I grew older and heard Ozzy [Osbourne] talk about his 'gold discs' and seeing the walls of Rudolf Schenker's house plastered with framed SCORPIONS awards, I set my goals on someday getting one of my own. And for 'Judas' to have sold 500,000 units in this day and age completely blows my mind as a fan and a musician, and also makes me realize how far FOZZY has come and how far we are going to go!! Thanks to all of you for making this dream come true for me and the guys. I can't wait to hang my award on my wall… just like Rudolf."

According to the RIAA, one equivalent song unit is equal to a single digital song sale, or 150 on-demand audio and/or video streams.

"Boombox", which includes the top 10 singles "Nowhere To Run" and "Sane", was once again produced by Johnny Andrews.

Jericho previously stated about the LP: "'Judas'…both the album & the song…was a HUGE breakthrough for FOZZY. It took us to the next level and positioned us as legit players at rock radio and as a live draw. As a result, we knew that we had to follow up with the album of a lifetime… 'Boombox' is that album!! You've already heard the top ten singles 'Nowhere To Run' and 'Sane' — kick-ass, hooky songs that set the tone for this record. But it's 'I Still Burn', 'Army Of One' and 'Relax' that, in my opinion, are going to take this album and this band even further up the rock 'n' roll ladder.

"I firmly believe this is the third best album of our entire career!! (Of course I think it's our best… but I always wanted to hear a band say that.) So crank the volume and hold the 'Boombox' up to your earholes!! It's gonna be a wild ride."

FOZZY's "Save The World" 2022 U.S. tour, featuring special guests GFM, KRASHKARMA and THE NOCTURNAL AFFAIR, started on March 31 in Detroit, Michigan and will wrap on May 16 in Sauget, Illinois.

FOZZY debuted a brand new song, "Purifier", during its September 2021 concert in Flint, Michigan and has been performing it live ever since. Back in July 2021, FOZZY played another new song, "The Vulture Club", during its concert in Iowa City, Iowa. The band also performed its previous single, "Sane", live for the first time.

In May 2021, FOZZY dropped a video for its first new song in two years, the aforementioned "Sane", which hit one million views in its first two weeks. This first-of-its-kind video was filmed on the longest wooden roller coaster on the planet today.

In the summer of 2020, Chris revealed that FOZZY's next LP would contain 12 songs, including a cover of FRANKIE GOES TO HOLLYWOOD's "Relax".

Ward and Andrews once again did "the lion's share" of the songwriting for the new LP, which was recorded primarily in Atlanta, Georgia.

In addition to producing "Judas", Andrews previously co-wrote FOZZY's "Lights Go Out" track back in 2014. He has also written songs with the likes of ALL THAT REMAINS, THREE DAYS GRACE and HALESTORM.

In November 2020, FOZZY appeared in its first global live streaming event from Madison Studios in Atlanta, Georgia.

This past January, FOZZY parted ways with longtime drummer Frank Fontsere and replaced him with Grant Brooks (THROUGH FIRE).

Fontsere was a founding member of FOZZY, having formed the group in 1999 with Jericho and Ward.

When FOZZY announced Fontsere's departure, the band said that he was "stepping down to focus on his family and other projects."

FOZZY is Chris Jericho (vocals), Rich Ward (guitars, vocals), Grant Brooks (drums), Billy Grey (guitars) and P.J. Farley (bass).

MICHAEL SCHENKER Says K.K. DOWNING Copied His Look In JUDAS PRIEST's Early Days: 'It Was Unbelievable'

MICHAEL SCHENKER Says K.K. DOWNING Copied His Look In JUDAS PRIEST's Early Days: 'It Was Unbelievable'

Michael Schenker, the German guitar virtuoso who made his recorded debut at age 16 on the SCORPIONS' "Lonesome Crow" album and rose to fame as the guitarist of the English hard rock band UFO, spoke to Canada's The Metal Voice about how he was able to influence an entire generation of guitar players that would define 1980s heavy metal. When interviewer Jimmy Kay brought up the fact that several members of IRON MAIDEN have publicly acknowledged the inspiration they drew from his early recordings, Schenker replied (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Yeah, it's all true. [MAIDEN bassist] Steve Harris is a complete Pete Way [late UFO bassist] fan. He even dresses like him. So does K.K. Downing from JUDAS PRIEST; [he] dresses like me. I went to the Whisky [A Go Go in West Hollywood, California] when I was 18 years old, when I was on my first American tour, and there was JUDAS PRIEST playing. And my girlfriend and I, we wanted to see, because we heard about that. And there was K.K. Downing, the guitarist from JUDAS PRIEST, having my perm and playing a Flying V [guitar] in almost an identical outfit. I mean, I looked at my girlfriend; she looked at me. It was like déjà [vu]; it was, like, 'What is this?' It was me again. I couldn't believe it; it was unbelievable."

After Kay noted that it's "amazing" how "everybody [was] copying" Schenker's look and his guitar playing, Michael said: "Yeah, at least that was in the '80s. That's what happens. They either copied me or Eddie Van Halen, or they copied each other on the '80s scene, just to be part of a trend."

In recent years, Schenker has repeatedly accused his brother, SCORPIONS guitarist Rudolf Schenker, of "completely distorting" Michael's "personality as an icon by using the Flying V himself. "Sometimes Rudolf would come up to me and proudly report who'd tapped him on the shoulder and said, 'Hey, Michael, how are you doing?' Slash and Joe Perry, for example," Michael told Guitar World in a 2020 interview. "While I wasn't looking, he managed for years to distort the hell out of the image of the Schenker brothers. People don't have a clue anymore who is who. It's incredible how he managed to distort the whole thing. Rudolf made a deal with Gibson for black-and-white guitars. He asked me if I minded if he played a black-and-white Flying V. I asked myself why he wants to be me, but I just said, 'Go ahead.' Then he pushed it so far in trying to make the black-and-white image his. He doesn't know who he is. Then he had the cheek to make a deal with Gibson for a signature Flying V."

Last year, Downing told Sonic Perspectives that he was inspired to play a Flying V guitar at an early age. "It stemmed from when I was a kid," he said. "I saw the Flying V in the shop and I couldn't afford it. And I used to look at it. I was that Oliver Twist type of kid — [I] didn't have the money, but somehow I knew it was the guitar for what I wanted to do. And now, obviously, the Flying V is synonymous with metal and heavy rock. To me, there was never a question."

A few years ago, Schenker told Classic Rock magazine that he doesn't listen to other people's music. "I just do what I love," he said. "I could never have a conversation about guitars, because I don't know the technical terms. I can't even have a conversation about music, because I don't communicate on that level. I just play.

"I know that every person is unique, so there's a lot inside each person that nobody knows," he continued. "If you decide to share some of that, you're adding something into the world that hasn't been there before. That's what I did with music. Right from the very beginning, when I was 17. I stopped listening to music, I stopped copying people. I just put out new colors. No music. No radio. Nothing. It's pure self-expression."

"Universal", the new studio album from Schenker's MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP, will be released on May 27 via Atomic Fire Records.

"Lightbriger"
"Lockdown Blues"
