OCEANHOARSE Pay Tribute To ANTHRAX With Cover Of "Only"In honor of the 40th anniversary of iconic thrash metallers Anthrax, Finland's Oceanhoarse have released a cover version of the band's classic, "Only". Coming along as a lyric video and in the unmistakable and groove-laden style of Oceanhoarse, this version should not only please die-hard fans.
The band comments:
"James Hetfield once called 'Only' a perfect song. Well, we wholeheartedly agree! As huge fans of the John Bush-era Anthrax, we wanted to record our version of this 90’s classic, to celebrate Anthrax’s 40th anniversary. We stayed pretty loyal to the original, but did Hoarse-fy it just a bit to make it our own. Enjoy!"
Oceanhoarse released their critically acclaimed full-length album Dead Reckoning on August 20th via Noble Demon. Anofficial lyric video for the new single "Fields Of Severed Dreams" is available below.
With former and current members of well-known acts like Amoral, Warmen and others, Oceanhoarse have delivered exactly the kind of debut studio album one would hope to get for from such experienced people - Dead Reckoning features 13 tracks, loaded with crushing riffs, vocal harmonies and high voltage arrangements and shows a band willing to explore things in their very own style, instead of sticking to any kind of average formular.
In support of the new album and to celebrate the release in glorious style, Oceanhoarse recently unleashed a brand new video clip for the melodic and groove-laden heavy metal anthem "From Hell To Oblivion".
The band comments: “‘From Hell To Oblivion’ represents Oceanhoarse at its most melodic, and it just might feature the biggest chorus on the album. The lyrics talk about false lighthouses, the inability to see warning signs in advance and how history keeps repeating itself, usually in pretty depressing ways.”
Oceanhoarse have amassed an impressive two million plus streams on Spotify alone, and all this before their first studio album has even been released. The band's previous single "One With the Gun" was released in late February, and has already hit the 100,000 stream mark.

DEAD LORD To Release Dystopia EP In March; European Tour AnnouncedSwedish hard rockers Dead Lord have announced the details for their upcoming EP release, Dystopia. A continuation and closing chapter for the band’s 2020 full-length LP, Surrender, the Dystopia EP starts off where that record ended, with the title track serving as a front bookend.
The remainder of its tracklisting features a collection of cover versions from acts like D-A-D (“Sleeping My Day Away”), Winterhawk (“Ace In The Hole”), Moon Martin (“Hands Down”) and Rory Gallagher (“Moonchild”), before closing out with the Swedish version of “Letter From Allen St.”. Speaking on their new EP, Dead Lord guitarist and vocalist Hakim Krim finds the following words:
“Wax is the only thing that's eternal! We know this as well as do you. So at last, here's our latest single-gone-ep release, for you to enjoy. 6 tracks of something new, something old, something borrowed and something ice cold. A couple of unreleased tracks, homages to our fellow rockateers, if you will, along with some nuggets previously only digitally released, finally make their way to a face melting platter of rocking grooves. So even in the most dystopian of potential futures, where computers have long since lost to the nuclear storms, your record player will keep spinning. And rock will prevail!”

How LAMB OF GOD Helped Save One Man's Life With A Bone Marrow TransplantA LAMB OF GOD fan who registered for the Be The Match bone marrow registry campaign after listening to the band's "The Duke" EP has become a match with a 65-year-old leukemia patient.
Released in December 2016, "The Duke"'s title track was inspired by the plight of a LAMB OF GOD fan named Wayne Ford, who was diagnosed with leukemia in 2010 and died five years later at the age of 33. As part of the EP's release, LAMB OF GOD teamed up with the nonprofit Be The Match, the national marrow donor registry which doctors search every day looking for matches for their patients, to bring awareness to the need for bone marrow donors.
Earlier today, Blythe took to his Instagram to share the story of Todd Seaman, a LAMB OF GOD fan from Arkansas who registered with the campaign five years ago after listening to "The Duke". He wrote: "In 2016 @lambofgod released a song 'The Duke' I wrote in honor of Wayne Ford, a fan who died of leukemia. With the release we had an awareness campaign for @bethematch, a free bone marrow registry that matches donors with blood cancer patients. 5 years ago, a LAMB OF GOD fan from the great state of Arkansas named Todd Seaman (@tseams) registered w/ @bethematch after hearing 'The Duke'. 9 months ago he received an email saying he had matched with a 65 year old male leukemia patient here in VA.
"2 days ago, Todd & his Dad Scott flew into DC, & I drove up to meet them. We went into the city & I showed them the sights- we walked 11 miles, from the Capitol to the Lincoln Memorial to the White House, then had a nice dinner. There was a great & peaceful holiday feeling in the air. Yesterday morning, we got up at 6 am & I drove them to a clinic. Todd wore his best Big Lebowski socks, got hooked up to a machine for 4 hours, & donated one bag of healthy stem cells & one bag of plasma.
"As you read this, the leukemia patient is receiving Todd's donation. RIGHT THIS VERY SECOND, that man is receiving the best Christmas present ever- a 2nd chance at life.
"To say that I am honored to have been a small part of this is a massive understatement. Yesterday Todd said 'Dude- LAMB OF GOD saved someone's life today'- I said 'No, YOU saved someone's life today. LAMB OF GOD just helped you a little.'
"Thank you Todd, for letting us know that what we do matters. These were two of the greatest days of my life.
"There is much sadness in the world right now. Many people feel powerless to make things better. But you are not- YOU HAVE AGENCY & the ability to help people. One way to do this is to register with @bethematch— it's painless & it's free. You can do this RIGHT THIS VERY SECOND- you might even save someone's life. I watched it happen yesterday with my own two eyes."
For people with life-threatening blood cancers — like leukemia and lymphoma — or other diseases, a cure exists. Be The Match connects patients with their donor match for a life-saving marrow or umbilical cord blood transplant. People can contribute to the cure as a member of the Be The Match Registry, financial contributor or volunteer. Be The Match provides patients and their families one-on-one support, education, and guidance before, during and after transplant. Be The Match is operated by the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP), a nonprofit organization that matches patients with donors, educates health care professionals and conducts research through its research program, CIBMTR (Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research), so more lives can be saved.
To learn more about the cure, visit BeTheMatch.org or call 1 (800) MARROW-2.

NIRVANA Files Motion To Dismiss 'Nevermind' Baby LawsuitNIRVANA has filed a motion to dismiss the recent lawsuit filed over the cover of the band's iconic album "Nevermind".
This past August, Spencer Elden, the man who claims he was the baby featured in the image, sued the surviving members of NIRVANA as well as the estate of Kurt Cobain. Elden alleges the photo of the baby reaching for a dollar in a swimming pool violated federal child pornography statutes and argues child sexual exploitation.
But NIRVANA, as well as Kurt Cobain's widow, Courtney Love, are asking the court to throw out the lawsuit, saying Elden's claim that the photograph on the "Nevermind" cover is child pornography is "not serious" and insisting that his claim is "barred by the applicable statute of limitations." Federal child pornography law has a 10-year statute of limitations, beginning when a victim "reasonably discovers" the violation itself or the harm caused by it.
"Elden has spent three decades profiting from his celebrity as the self-anointed 'Nirvana Baby'," reads the motion which was filed on Wednesday (December 22). "He has reenacted the photograph in exchange for a fee, many times; he has had the album title 'Nevermind' tattooed across his chest; he has appeared on a talk show wearing a self-parodying, nude-colored onesie; he has autographed copies of the album cover for sale on eBay; and he has used the connection to try to pick up women.
The motion adds: "Elden's claim that the photograph on the 'Nevermind' album cover is 'child pornography' is, on its face, not serious. A brief examination of the photograph, or Elden's own conduct (not to mention the photograph's presence in the homes of millions of Americans who, on Elden's theory, are guilty of felony possession of child pornography) makes that clear.
"The 'Nevermind' cover photograph was taken in 1991. It was world-famous by no later than 1992. Long before 2011, as Elden has pled, Elden knew about the photograph, and knew that he (and not someone else) was the baby in the photograph. He has been fully aware of the facts of both the supposed 'violation' and 'injury' for decades.”
The motion goes on to say: "In addition to his child pornography claim, Elden has alleged that the creation of the photograph for the album cover art entailed the sex trafficking of Elden when he was a baby. Setting aside that this premise is absurd, the statute Elden invokes to cover conduct in 1991, became effective on December 19, 2003 and has no retroactive application to conduct by a defendant that pre-dates its effective date."
Elden recently amended his lawsuit against NIRVANA to include the allegation that the photographer hired to take the photo, Kirk Weddle, also shot images of Elden styled to look like Playboy founder Hugh Hefner. The new filing also drops former NIRVANA drummer Chad Channing as a defendant in the case.
According to Rolling Stone, Elden's updated complaint cites personal journal entries from late NIRVANA frontman Kurt Cobain, which were published by Riverhead Books in 2002, in an apparent attempt to prove the claim that the photographer intended the cover image to be sexual in nature.
"Undated journals written by Cobain sketch the album cover in a sexual manner, with semen all over it," the document states. "In several instances, the journals describe Cobain's twisted vision for the 'Nevermind' album cover, along with his emotional struggles: 'I like to make incisions into the belly of infants then fuck the incision until the child dies.'"
The documents also repeat the claim that Weddle intended to "trigger a visceral sexual response from the viewer" by activating "Spencer's 'gag reflex' before throwing him underwater in poses highlighting and emphasizing Spencer's exposed genitals." The documents add: "Weddle soon after produced photographs of Spencer dressed up and depicted as Hugh Hefner."
When Elden first filed his lawsuit against the surviving members of NIRVANA as well as the estate of Kurt Cobain in August, he alleged the photo of the baby reaching for a dollar in a swimming pool violated federal child pornography statutes and argued child sexual exploitation.
A month after filing his lawsuit, Elden, who is now 30, requested his genitalia be removed from "all future album covers" on the 30th anniversary of the project.
"Today, like each year on this date, our client Spencer Elden has had to brace himself for renewed unwanted attention from the media and fans alike throughout the world," his attorneys told USA Today. "This is a choice that he has never had."
The attorneys said that they plan on continuing the legal proceedings in order to "bring long-awaited privacy and dignity back to our client."
"We implore the NIRVANA defendants to right the wrongs of their past, by acknowledging the harm they have perpetrated and redacting the image of Mr. Elden's genitalia from further reproductions of 'Nevermind' because behind every cover is a person pleading for their privacy back," they added.
A deluxe 30th-anniversary reissue of "Nevermind", featuring its original cover artwork, was made available on November 12.
In Elden's complaint filed in Los Angeles federal court, he claimed that his "identity and legal name are forever tied to the commercial sexual exploitation he experienced as a minor which has been distributed and sold worldwide from the time he was a baby to the present day."
According to the suit, the defendants "knowingly produced, possessed, and advertised commercial child pornography depicting Spencer, and they knowingly received value in exchange for doing so. … Despite this knowledge, defendants failed to take reasonable steps to protect Spencer and prevent his widespread sexual exploitation and image trafficking."
Elden claimed that his parents never signed a release authorizing the use of the photos, which were taken in a Pasadena aquatic center in 1990. He alleged that the band promised to cover his genitals with a sticker, which was never incorporated into the album art.
The suit further alleged the defendants "used child pornography depicting Spencer as an essential element of a record promotion scheme commonly utilized in the music industry to get attention, wherein album covers posed children in a sexually provocative manner to gain notoriety, drive sales, and garner media attention, and critical reviews."
Elden is seeking damages of either $150,000 from each of the defendants or unspecified damages to be determined at trial, attorney fees, an injunction to prohibit all parties "from continuing to engage in the unlawful acts and practices described herein," and a trial by jury.
"The permanent harm he has proximately suffered includes but is not limited to extreme and permanent emotional distress with physical manifestations, interference with his normal development and educational progress, lifelong loss of income earning capacity, loss of past and future wages, past and future expenses for medical and psychological treatment, loss of enjoyment of life, and other losses to be described and proven at trial of this matter," the lawsuit stated.
Elden's parents were reportedly paid only $200 for the photos, and the shoot lasted around 15 seconds.
In a 2016 interview with Time magazine, Elden said: "It's a trip. Everyone involved in the album has tons and tons of money. I feel like I'm the last little bit of grunge rock. I'm living in my mom's house and driving a Honda Civic.
"It's hard not to get upset when you hear how much money was involved," Elden added. "I go to a baseball game and think about it: 'Man, everybody at this baseball game has probably seen my little baby penis,' I feel like I got part of my human rights revoked."
"Nevermind" has sold over 30 million copies worldwide and was certified diamond by the RIAA for sales in excess of 10 million copies in the U.S. al 6

PAUL GILBERT Shares Guitar Playthrough Of MR. BIG's "Green-Tinted Sixties Mind"Mr. Big, is celebrating the 30th anniversary of their chart-topping Lean Into It album with a remastered and expanded anniversary edition reissue, available digitally, on CD and as a highly collectible limited edition box set made up of five individual colored 7” singles via evoXS.
In the clip below, guitarist Paul Gilbert plays through the band's hit "Green-Tinted Sixties Mind", taken from the album.
The 30th anniversary release of Lean Into it includes the previously unreleased track, "Stop Messing Around", fully produced by Kevin Elson, from Mr. Big’s 1990 Lean Into It studio session. Check out the just released official lyric video below.
First released in 1991, Lean Into It is the second studio album by the group, consisting of Paul Gilbert, Eric Martin, Billy Sheehan and Pat Torpey. This is the band's breakthrough album, with Lean Into It peaking at #15 on the Billboard 200 charts, while the single “To Be With You” hit and remained number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks. The follow-up single, “Just Take My Heart,” was a Top 20 hit, peaking at #16 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The million-selling album also contains the popular tracks “Daddy, Brother, Lover, Little Boy,” “Alive and Kickin” and “Green-Tinted Sixties Mind.” Lean Into It shows that Mr. Big could also strip away all the flash and 7-minute solos and simply create well-written songs with rhythm, groove and good melodies, making the band one of the iconic new wave of progressive “musician’s bands” who could play mind-blowing complicated riffs on their instruments at lightning speeds.
evoXS has remastered the album using the hi-resolution digital transfers from the original analogue master tapes for MQA-CD (2 CD), hybrid SACD, 180g Vinyl LP and Hi-Res digital. The hybrid multi-channel SACD plays on both SACD and regular CD players. MQA is an award-winning technology that delivers the sound of the studio. MQA-CD plays on all CD players. When a conventional CD player is connected to an MQA-enabled device, the CD will reveal the original master quality. The SACD has a new multi-track mix in 5.1 surround sound which provides the ultimate sound quality experience. The MQA-CD (2 CD) - Disc 1 contains the remastered tracks from the original album and Disc 2 contains the previously unreleased Kevin Elson produced tracks, “Stop Messing Around” and “Wild Wild Women,” hard to find bonus tracks and versions minus bass and guitar tracks, specially made for musicians to jam with.

AEROSMITH: 'On Tour: 1973-1985' Book Now AvailableCelebrating the 50th anniversary of the formation of the classic AEROSMITH lineup — Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Brad Whitford, Tom Hamilton and Joey Kramer — a new book, "Aerosmith On Tour: 1973-1985", exhaustively chronicles for the first time the band's career on the road, from early gigs in high school auditoriums and ratty clubs to headlining arenas and stadiums. Written by Julian Gill, "Aerosmith On Tour: 1973-1985" unveils its tale via local reviews, eyewitness reports, press accounts and interviews with key insiders.
You'll join the "Bad Boys from Boston" as the band earns their stripes on the rock and roll battlefield the hard way opening for acts like THE KINKS, HUMBLE PIE and the MAHAVISHNU ORCHESTRA, enjoying breakthrough success with albums "Toys In The Attic" and "Rocks", imploding in the late '70s, a result of internal turmoil and substance abuse issues, before ending triumphantly with their successful "Back In The Saddle" 1984 reunion tour. The 612-page book is further augmented by a feast of visual material (concert and record ads, vintage reviews, and photographs) lending an engrossing portrait of America's greatest rock and roll band.
"Aerosmith On Tour: 1973-1985" is available via Amazon.
Since AEROSMITH's founding 50 years ago, the group has gone on to sell more than 150 million albums around the world; produced genre-defining music videos such as "Amazing", "Crazy", "Janie's Got A Gun", "Livin' On The Edge" and "Love In An Elevator"; launched extravagant record-shattering global tours, most recently with their ongoing smash hit Las Vegas residency. The band has broken numerous boundaries, including becoming the first rock band with a massive commercially successful hip-hop collaboration with RUN-DMC on "Walk This Way" and the first hard rock band to appear during a Super Bowl Halftime Show with their 2001 performance, and in 1999, AEROSMITH became the first band to have their own themed attraction at Disney World in Florida, and later Paris with the launch of the Rock 'N' Roller coaster starring AEROSMITH.
With broad cultural influence, AEROSMITH has prominently appeared in films, television shows and video games, as well as influencing multiple generations of rock bands, both as style icons and acclaimed multi-instrumentalists. MusiCares honored the band in 2020 as Person Of The Year for their many artistic achievements and dedication to philanthropy, including Steven Tyler's initiative Janie's Fund initiative, which supports young women who've suffered the trauma of abuse and neglect.
Inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2001, AEROSMITH is tied for the most RIAA album certifications by an American group with 25 gold, 18 platinum, 12 multi-platinum and one diamond. As the band was founded in Boston in 1970, April 13 has been declared "Aerosmith Day" in Massachusetts by former governor William Weld.

SAXON's BIFF BYFORD Hasn't Made A Lot Of Lifestyle Changes Since Suffering Heart AttackSAXON frontman Biff Byford has told Full In Blood in a new interview that he has made modest dietary changes in the two years after he suffered a heart attack and underwent an emergency triple bypass surgery. "A little bit," he said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). "I don't eat dairy anymore. I suppose I'll eat an occasional piece of cheese, but I don't eat dairy anymore because of the cholesterol level thing. But pretty much [everything] else, I haven't really changed. We'll have a veggie week some weeks where my wife will just put vegetarian food all week, which is a bit of a change, really, and it gets rid of toxic things in your body. But I haven't really changed that much, to tell you the truth."
The 70-year-old singer went on to say that he has added 16:8 intermittent fasting to his lifestyle, a type of dieting where people fast during a portion of the week and then eat on the other days. The 16:8 type of intermittent fasting involves eating only during a specific right-hour period each day.
"I will do that," Biff said. "I mean, I did do that today, actually. I didn't have lunch until 2 o'clock and I'll eat dinner at 7:30 and then I try not to have anything else until the next day. So most of your fasting is done while you're asleep; that's how it's supposed to work. What you try and do is eat all your meals in the eight hours. Don't go stupid. And then if you go to bed at, say, 11 o'clock and get up at eight or seven, then you had nearly eight hours in bed. A lot of people do it. It's quite positive. I think it's a bit easier than some diets.
"If you don't eat until the morning until quite late, you definitely feel a hit of energy," he explained. "And you're also quite hungry, so you appreciate the food [that you are eating]. Keeping to it is difficult sometimes, obviously. You want a glass of wine or you want a beer or something; you're always being tempted with these things."
According to Biff, he still drinks alcohol occasionally. "Oh, yeah," he said. "A couple of glasses of wine some nights, it's no problem. As long as you're not drinking two bottles of wine, it's fine."
A year and a half ago, Byford described his heart attack to Planet Rock, saying "it wasn't like a Hollywood heart attack, [where] you drop on the floor with your legs up in the air. I was biking, I was on my bike — I do a lot of biking and walking. And I was getting a bit breathless. And I went to the doctor. They sent me in to the hospital straight away. One of my arteries was getting blocked. They couldn't get to it easily; it was risky. So they gave me a heart bypass. And so while they were in there, they did all three… So, yeah, they did all three. And then I came to, and that was it. I was really ill."
A heart bypass surgery, or coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery, is used to improve blood flow to the heart. A surgeon uses blood vessels taken from another area of the body to bypass the damaged arteries.
The term triple bypass refers to the number of coronary arteries bypassed in the procedure. In other words, a triple bypass means three coronary arteries are bypassed.
SAXON will release its 23rd studio album, "Carpe Diem", on February 4, 2022 via Silver Lining Music. The LP was produced by Andy Sneap (JUDAS PRIEST, EXODUS, ACCEPT) at Backstage Recording Studios in Derbyshire with Byford and Sneap mixing and mastering.

PAPA ROACH's 'Scars' Certified Silver In U.K.PAPA ROACH's "Scars" has been certified silver in the United Kingdom.
To earn a silver certification for a single in the U.K., PAPA ROACH had to sell 200,000 units of the song.
The platinum, gold and silver certifications awarded by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) in recognition of sales milestones have included audio streaming data since June 2015, with 1,000 streams counting as one "sale."
"Scars" is taken from PAPA ROACH's album "Getting Away With Murder", which was certified silver back in July 2013, approximately nine years after the LP's release.
Only one other PAPA ROACH single has been certified in the U.K., with "Last Resort" going platinum in November 2018.
The official music video for "Scars", which has been viewed 110 million times on YouTube, can be seen below.
PAPA ROACH capped another fruitful year in 2021, after celebrating the 20th anniversary of its landmark album "Infest" last year. Throughout the year, the band teased three new tracks from its forthcoming LP. The first track released to radio, "Kill The Noise", just completed a four-week run at no. 1 on the Mainstream Rock chart. This follows "The Ending", which peaked at no. 1 earlier this year (giving PAPA ROACH their ninth no. 1 single and mind-blowing 20th Top 5 single to date). 2021 also marks the band's third Grammy nomination for the remix of "Born For Greatness" by Spencer Bastian a.k.a. CYMEK and the relaunch of the band's own label, New Noize Records, in partnership with ADA Worldwide (WMG's independent label and artist services arm). Capping the year off, the partnership has already achieved 100 million streams to date.
This past October, PAPA ROACH released a new single called "Dying To Believe". The track, produced by WZRD BLD a.k.a. Drew Fulk (ICE NINE KILLS, MOTIONLESS IN WHITE, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE), is a call for human unity and harmony, despite any differences people have.
"Dying To Believe" arrived weeks after the release of PAPA ROACH's previous two singles: "Swerve", which was a collaboration with FEVER 333 frontman Jason Aalon Butler and Los Angeles rapper Sueco; and "Kill The Noise". All three tracks are expected to appear on PAPA ROACH's upcoming eleventh studio album, due via the band's own record company, New Noize Records, Inc., under exclusive license to ADA.
In January 2021, a snippet of a brand new PAPA ROACH song called "Stand Up" was included in commercial for Ultimate Fighting Championship's (UFC) partnership with ESPN.
PAPA ROACH's second greatest-hits collection, "Greatest Hits Vol. 2: The Better Noise Years", was released in March on Better Noise Music. "Greatest Hits Vol. 2 - The Better Noise Years" includes 12 of the band's top 10 hits released between 2010 to 2019 as well as three previously unreleased remixes and two unreleased acoustic recordings recorded live at the YouTube Studios in New York City.
PAPA ROACH's latest album, "Who Do You Trust?", was released in January 2019. The disc was produced by Nick "RAS" Furlong and Colin Cunningham except for the song "Top Of The World", which was helmed by Jason Evigan.
In December 2020, PAPA ROACH released a five-song EP, "20/20", featuring "new takes on old jams," including "Last Resort" and "Scars".

“In these uncertain times we live in at the moment with the COVID-19 virus, no shows, no entertainment and with people having to stay at home for their own safety, I came up with an idea that I talked to my good friend Dirk ‘The Pixeleye’ Behlau about and he loved the idea.
“We asked people we played with, worked with, know and respect if they want to be part of a new video to one of the songs (‘I'll Be Home Tonight’) from our latest album Greetings From Suckerville.
“Everyone just filmed what they wanted - singing, playing, drinking, whatever - and film it with their mobile phones so that Dirk can edit it the footage, creating a full-length video.
“Unfortunately, not everyone had the time to participate since they are busy working with other stuff at home and we couldn't ask everyone.
“But I'm really happy that so many had the time and took the effort to be part of this, like Schmier (Destruction), Majsan (Thundermother), Dregen (Backyard Babies/The Hellacopters), Jonas (At The Gates), Beef Bonanza (The Bones), Nitrogods or Andy Brings (Double Crush Syndrome), among others. Thanks a lot, stay safe and healthy and enjoy this ‘lockdown edition’ masterpiece of a video!”

Watch SEPULTURA's ELOY CASAGRANDE Play Song From His CASAGRANDE & HANYSZ ProjectThe Paiste YouTube channel has been updated with a video of SEPULTURA drummer Eloy Casagrande playing the song "To Not Belong" from CASAGRANDE & HANYSZ, his prog metal project with João Hanysz.
Paiste says in a message accompanying the YouTube release of the video: "Could he play even more energetic? We don't think so. Always a great pleasure to see and hear Eloy Casagrande banging on those drums. Here he plays the track 'To Not Belong' from CASAGRANDE & HANYSZ. Hell Yeah!"
CASAGRANDE & HANYSZ's debut EP, "Edge Of Chaos", was released in September. The effort was produced, recorded and mixed by Andre Kbelo and was mastered by Carlinhos Freitas.
This past summer, guitarist Andreas Kisser spoke to France's Loud TV about how Casagrande's addition to has affected SEPULTURA's sound.
"We're very lucky to have such great musicians here in Brazil, especially in drumming," he said. "We have great drummers and percussionists. You see [Carlos] Santana and all those great names, Paul Simon and stuff, always using some Brazilian here and there regarding the drum world. And Eloy started playing drums very early. He was made for SEPULTURA, man. I mean, he played in some other bands and stuff, but here with SEPULTURA, he's really exploding; he's really free to express himself the way he wants to, and SEPULTURA's music really provides that. And in exchange, he gave me especially to write many new possibilities. I think 'Machine Messiah' and 'Quadra' are the consequence of that interaction we have, which is great. It's so inspiring. It's fantastic.
"We are kind of always writing," he continued. "Sometimes he sends me some drum loops and I send him some riffs and stuff, and it's really cool that we build stuff from there. And he's a very professional guy — the best drummer in the world; at least for SEPULTURA he's the best. [Laughs]"
In February 2020, SEPULTURA singer Derrick Green told Australia's Everblack Media that Casagrande has had "a tremendous impact" on the group since he joined in 2011. "It's undeniable because he's such a strong force," he said. "He loves playing metal music. He's one of the most talented drummers I've ever seen, honestly. That power is consistent from beginning to the end. It really has rubbed off on all of us to really push ourselves further. He's such a perfect match for the band. He really is always influencing us in so many ways to really go beyond — above and beyond."
In 2019, Eloy told Drumtalk that he didn't care about the long-simmering feud between founding SEPULTURA members Max and Igor Cavalera and his current bandmates. "I respect all the history," he said. "I have total respect for the past drummers, Igor and Jean [Dolabella]. They are amazing guys, incredible guys, but we just live in the present. I really don't care what happened, what didn't happen. I respect all the music. I respect their music nowadays. It's just that we have to follow our path and that's it."
Casagrande joined SEPULTURA 10 years ago as the replacement for Dolabella.
SEPULTURA's latest album, "Quadra", was released in February 2020 via Nuclear Blast. The LP was created at Sweden's Fascination Street Studios with renowned producer Jens Bogren.
SEPULTURA comprises Green, Kisser, bassist Paulo Xisto Pinto Jr. and Casagrande. 5
