Watch DREAM THEATER Perform 'Fatal Tragedy' From 'Distant Memories - Live In London'

Progressive music titans DREAM THEATER have will release their ninth career live album, "Distant Memories - Live In London", on November 27. Recorded at their sold-out show at the Apollo Theatre in London, the live release documents the band's popular world tour in support of their latest critically acclaimed studio album "Distance Over Time" and the 20th anniversary of their seminal concept album "Metropolis Part 2 - Scenes From A Memory".

Fans can check out the live version of "Fatal Tragedy" from "Distant Memories - Live In London" below.

Says guitarist John Petrucci: "Performing 'Scenes From A Memory' live in its entirety 20 years after its initial release was a ton of fun for all of us.

"'Fatal Tragedy' is one of the darker, heavier and more exciting songs on 'Scenes' and always gets an amazing response from our audience. It's an important track because, lyrically, it helps to establish the story's plot details while musically it showcases some of our favorite instrumental moments on the album."

"Distant Memories - Live In London" is the band's first since 2014's "Breaking The Fourth Wall". The new live release will be available in various configurations including digital only, a 3-CD and 2 DVD multibox, a 3-CD and 2 Blu-Ray digipak with slipcase, a limited deluxe 3-CD + 2 Blu-Ray + 2 DVD Artbook and a limited 4-LP and 3-CD box set. The video components will also feature a behind-the-scenes look at the band as they get ready for the shows. All formats of "Distant Memories - Live In London" are now available for pre-order here.

This past September, Petrucci confirmed to Sonic Perspectives that DREAM THEATER will enter the studio this fall to begin work on the follow-up to last year's "Distance Over Time" album. Asked if he and his bandmates go into the studio with ideas already mapped out or if they try to come up with stuff on the spot, Petrucci said: "With DREAM THEATER, what we like to do most of the time is have a collective type of writing — we're all in the same room. And even if guys bring in ideas, it's more like we sort of play the idea and everybody joins in and we bounce it off of each other, and that's how the songs are written. So it's always good to have some of those seeds — some places to go. Whether you use them or not — you don't have to use them — but they're good starting points. So, yeah, we'll always come in with something. And what we'll usually do, which is really helpful too, is we'll discuss, prior to those sessions, the type of record we wanna make, which I think is really important.

"We have a long career, and we have a large catalog, and we try to look at each album as being another chapter in our story," he explained. "So when we approach a new album, we try to do something that's unique and that might just make things more interesting. Why do people want to keep listening to DREAM THEATER or wanna get the new record if there's not anything new or different or exciting about it?

"So, we'll discuss that beforehand so that everybody can kind of just be on the same wavelength [when it comes to] what we [are] trying to do here. As opposed to just walking in, like, 'All right. What do you wanna do?' 'I don't know. What do you wanna do?'"

"Distance Over Time" marked DREAM THEATER's first album for for Sony Music's progressive imprint InsideOut Music. The group spent the past 25 years recording under various labels in the Warner Music Group system, most recently Roadrunner Records, which released five albums by the band between 2007 and 2016.

ASPHYX Releases Music Video For New Song 'Botox Implosion'

Dutch death doom elite ASPHYX will release its 10th studio album, "Necroceros", on January 22, 2021 via Century Media Records. The LP was recorded at Tom Meier's Tom Meier Studio and at Paul Baayens's The Mörserstudio, and mixed and mastered by Sebastian "Seeb" Levermann at Greenman Studios. It once again features front cover artwork by Axel Hermann.

The official music video for the first single from the disc, "Botox Implosion", can be seen below. The clip was filmed by Maurice Swinkels of Younique Film (LEGION OF THE DAMNED, EXODUS, KATAKLYSM).

ASPHYX frontman Martin Van Drunen commented: "We actually wanted to film this on Sunset Boulevard [in] L.A., where most of the pathetic subjects of this song have their residence, but due to the pandemic, it was best not to fly over to the USA. So since it's a fast-shredding and written-in-the-typical-humorous-death-metal-gore-tradition track, we put a few laughable elements in it. Fortunately, good old Turock in Essen was so friendly to let us film there and where we're usually not that keen on shooting videos, with this one, we had quite some fun. Still, it is a helluva brutal tune!"

"Necroceros" track listing:

01. The Sole Cure Is Death

02. Molten Black Earth

03. Mount Skull

04. Knights Templar Stand

05. Three Years Of Famine

06. Botox Implosion

07. In Blazing Oceans

08. The Nameless Elite

09. Yield Or Die

10. Necroceros

Van Drunen previously stated about "Necroceros": "The first recordings for 'Necroceros' started somewhere in November 2019. Mainly just rough ideas. We hired Tom's studio for a couple of jam sessions so we could record as soon as we thought something had potential. We finished about six or seven songs, but after a few listenings we decided there had still quite some work to be done.

"After the three previous albums and this one being ASPHYX's 10th official full studio record, we were very well aware that the standard had to be incredibly high. Our advantage was that for the first time we had a steady lineup. Since 'Incoming Death', we were damned good 'worked in' together, one 'felt' what the other wanted or where he was music-wise going. With Paul having tons of riffs on the shelves, the earlier takes and the unexpected rapidly spreading COVID-19 outbreak and thus all our gigs being canceled one after the other, we booked Tom once more for a bunch of jam-recordings. Which turned out marvellously...

"It took two weekends to finally arrange all songs and tape the drum-tracks. Going completely berserk while playing and being totally satisfied with the variety, rawness, brutality and dynamics of each particular track, we were 100% certain that we were heading in the right direction.

"Long before all the above was happening, I already had introduced 'Necroceros' as a working title. It came out spontaneously, sounded powerful and since we used the word 'Death' in every release title, so did 'Necro'. The idea was a sci-fi fantasy entity on an eternal course, existing only to devour planets, turning universes into meaningless voids. And while the boys were laying guitars and bass over the drums I searched and wrote the themes and lyrics for every single track.

"To mix with Seeb was a shot in the dark, but he had told me one of his wishes was to ever be able to mix a death metal album for a band like ASPHYX. And since we wanted a fresh input, we gave him a chance by letting Seeb do a test and it fused simply excellent.

"As always, we passed the working title on to Axel Hermann to skizz about and let him throw his morbid imagination over it with detailed bits and pieces. And once more he didn't let us down with another brilliant masterpiece.

"And here we are. Something old, something new, something krushing, something sparkling, something alcoholic, something genius, but all very, very ASPHYX!"

ASPHYX's previous and much acclaimed studio album "Incoming Death" was released in September 2016 and entered the official sales charts in various European countries as follows: Germany: No. 30, Switzerland: No. 67 and Belgium (Wallonia): No. 78.

ASPHYX is Martin Van Drunen (vocals), Stefan "Husky" Hüskens (drums), Paul Baayens (guitars) and Alwin Zuur (bass).

WHITESNAKE Releases Music Video For Remixed Version Of 'Love Will Set You Free' From 'Love Songs' Collection

WHITESNAKE brings together some of the most-passionate music of its multi-platinum career on "Love Songs", a new collection that contains remixed and remastered versions of the group's best love songs. It's the second release in the band's "Red, White and Blues Trilogy", a series of compilations organized by musical themes that began this summer with "The Rock Album" (white) and will conclude next year with "The Blues Album" (blue).

The new collection includes a mix of hits and deep tracks that were originally released between 1987 and 2011 on five WHITESNAKE studio albums and David Coverdale's third solo album, "Into The Light". "Love Songs" is being released today (Friday, November 6) as a CD , as a double-LP set pressed on 180-gram red vinyl, and digitally.

"Some have been musically embellished where my co-producer Michael McIntyre, my new mixer Christopher Collier and I felt it appropriate or necessary to bring out the best in these songs," he explains.

Coverdale continues: "As most of you know, pretty much all the songs I write are love songs in some way, shape or form. These are some of my favorites. Not all are ballads. Some are out and out rockers with powerful romantic themes…and of course…include heavy breathing in all of them!!"

In addition to the album tracks "Don't You Cry" and "Midnight Blue", the set also introduces three previously unreleased outtakes from the "Into The Light" album sessions: "With All Of My Heart", "Yours For The Asking" and "Let's Talk It Over". QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT Share 'Somebody To Love' Performance Video From 'Live Around The World'

Having debuted at No. 1 on the U.K.'s official albums chart with their "Live Around The World" album, QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT now release the full length performance of "Somebody To Love" on QUEEN's official YouTube channel.

The "Live Around The World" album compiles concert highlights from the world over, personally selected by Roger Taylor, Brian May and Adam Lambert from over 200 shows they have performed together, many among them becoming available for the very first time.

The show-stopping "Live Around The World" performance of "Somebody To Love" was captured at the Isle Of Wight festival in 2016 — QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT's first U.K. festival together and a milestone show which Lambert recalls was "a really special night."

Written by Freddie Mercury, "Somebody To Love" was a highlight of QUEEN's 1976 album "A Day At The Races" and a huge hit in its own right, reaching No. 2 in the U.K. and a Top 20 place in the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S. Mercury freely acknowledged that the song's composition was influenced by the legendary soul star Aretha Franklin and — as the "Live Around The World" performance confirms — Lambert's soulful, gospel-tinged interpretation is well suited to this much-loved, soul-searching song with its complex vocal harmonies.

"Adam has the ability to sing anything and everything we throw at him," Taylor said of Lambert's vocal abilities. "There's nothing he can't handle. Our songs are big and theatrical and Adam fits that easily. I think he's the best singer around. His range is staggering."

"Some of QUEEN's songs are just so vocally athletic and physically demanding," Lambert said. "For example, 'The Show Must Go On' is certainly demanding, 'Who Wants To Live Forever' goes from zero to 99. 'Somebody To Love' is really intense and big.

"One thing as a vocalist which I love about QUEEN's catalogue is they’ve ventured into so many different genres," Adam added. "It makes every show a fun and challenging evening for me and I just love that."

DANI FILTH Terrorizes Members Of BEHEMOTH, KREATOR, SEPULTURA In New Animated Short

See Cradle Of Filth frontman Dani Filth in his most sinister role yet, as he terrorizes Nergal from Behemoth, Mille Petrozza of Kreator, and Derrick Green from Sepultura in the animated short, Whats Up, Rock Squad?!, created by @hmetalmaniac.

Vampiric masters of extreme metal, Cradle Of Filth, had been scheduled to perform a live stream concert from St. Mary's Church, Colchester Art Centre, England on the auspicious date of October 30.

It had been promoted as a vicious, delicious, certainly mal-nutritious performance showcasing the band’s new keyboardist and backing singer, as well as a slew of graveyard hits both past, present and possibly future. In short, the ultimate Nightmare before Halloween!

Unfortunately, those plans have come to a screeching halt, as Cradle Of Filth frontman Dani Filth explains: "Due to the ongoing Covid crisis and the uncertainty of travel, we unfortunately need to move the date of our live stream event. With band members residing outside of and throughout the UK, there was a real chance of quarantine or travel issues. The new show date is February 20, 2021. All tickets remain valid and everyone who bought one is automatically entered in to win a custom Cradle Of Filth Midian guitar worth over $2,000. Sorry for any inconvenience, the show will be an epic event not to be missed!”

Next year's live stream has been moved to an undisclosed bigger venue, with twice the production. Tickets are available at this location.

HJELVIK – “Glory Of Hel” Video Streaming Feat. HIGH ON FIRE’s MATT PIKE

Norwegian blackened Viking heavy metal solo-band Hjelvik has released a new song and music video for their third single from the upcoming album Welcome To Hel, out on November 20 2020 via Nuclear Blast. Watch the victorious video saga “Glory Of Hel” animated by Adam Avilla of Flesh & Bones in San Francisco, California which includes a guest performance by Matt Pike from the bands High On Fire and Sleep.

Frontman Erlend Hjelvik comments on the song: "I'm excited to finally unveil 'Glory Of Hel' in all its...glory!  It's one of the hardest rocking tracks from Welcome to Hel and is visited by the mythical Matt Pike (High On Fire & Sleep) who lends his killer voice and face melting guitar solo. To top that off, there's a badass animated music video created by the disgustingly talented Adam Avilla. The video depicts a twisted take on the death of Odin's son Balder and the ensuing events of Ragnarok with an animation style reminiscent of cult classics like Heavy Metal and Fire And Ice.. Thanks to both Matt and Adam for their amazing contributions and I hope people love it!"

Hjelvik is the new solo band of ex-Kvelertak frontman, lyricist, and co-founder Erlend Hjelvik. After touring worldwide with some of the world's greatest bands like Metallica, Slayer, and Ghost, and earning four Norwegian Spelleman awards, Erlend parted ways with his bandmates in 2018 and has spent the last two years songwriting and creating Hjelvik's first solo album.

Hjelvik's first solo album Welcome To Hel, based on Norse mythology and history, includes all the trappings of a lucrative Viking pillage. The album was recorded and mixed at The Hallowed Halls in Portland, Oregon by Justin Phelps (Joe Satriani, Poison Idea, Slough Feg) and finalized by Grammy award-winning mastering engineer, Alan Douches (Mastodon, Converge, Baroness). Special guest appearances by Matt Pike (Sleep, High On Fire) and Mike Scalzi (Slough Feg) are also included. The legendary Joe Petagno created the Welcome To Hel album artwork and Hjelvik logo and is responsible for creating the timeless iconic images we all know from bands like Motörhead, Led Zeppelin, and Nazareth.

Tracklisting:

"Father War"
"Thor's Hammer"
"Helgrinda"
"The Power Ballad Of Freyr"
"Glory Of Hel"

TOMORROW’S RAIN Debut Video For NICK CAVE Cover “The Weeping Song”

Tel Aviv metal band Tomorrow’s Rain has released a new music video for their dark metal take on goth icon Nick Cave's beloved classic "The Weeping Song." The cover features guests Anders Jacobsson (Draconian), Kobi Farhi (Orphaned Land) and Lisa Cuthbert (live vocalist for The Sisters Of Mercy) and is found on the band's recently released, debut album Hollow that's available now from AOP Records.

Vocalist Yishai Swearts states:

"Growing up in the ‘80s Nick Cave was always there, an idol, his lyrics found a warm place within my heart when I was pretty young, apart from that Nick is a mentor when it comes to face traumatic events in life and carry on, heal your soul and sing your pain, Nick's last 2 albums are pure reflection of the message we try to deliver in Hollow: at the end of the day we have to carry on, we have to heal ourselves and continue the journey.

“We think that the interesting idea in a cover version is always to the take song to "your own" area, never understood bands who just played the original song as is, it's pointless and in almost every case it's weaker than the original, by doing a cover the idea is not to be stronger than the original but to play the original in your own language, in your own way.

“Our dear old friend Kobi Farhi from Orphaned Land sang with me the duet, the idea was that one of us will be the father and the other will be the son, also joined in are Anders from Draconian doing growling vocals with me and Lisa Cuthbert with female voc."

Orphaned Land's Kobi Farhi adds:

"Nick Cave is probably my favorite artist, second only to Leonard Cohen. From childhood till this day he never ceases to amaze me with his great ability to create sincere, painful art and music. I am honored to take part in a cover made for one of his classic songs, I think covers is a very tricky thing that you shouldn't go and do so easily, but this cover definitely achieved its goal and it's a great one!"

Tomorrow's Rain's epic debut features an all-star list of guest musicians including members of Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride, Rotting Christ, Moonspell, Septicflesh, Draconian and more, "Hollow" is a breathtaking journey into the depths of doom and darkness.

Band lineup:

Yishai Sweartz - Vocals
Raffael  Mor - Guitars
Yoni Biton - Guitars
Yaggel Cohen - Bass
Shiraz Weiss - Keyboards
Nir Nakav - Drums

CHASTAIN Feat. LEATHER LEONE - Rare "Mystery Of Illusion" Live Video Unearthed

Leviathan Records, the label run by guitarist David Chastain, has posted more live footage from the archives.

A message states: "Chastain exploded onto the metal scene with the release of their epic debut album, Mystery Of Illusion, in 1985. Shortly after the release of that album the band met up in Cincinnati, Ohio to play a concert at Bogart's. The band for the show was David T. Chastain on guitar, Leather Leone on vocals, Mike Skimmerhorn on bass, Russell Jinkens on second guitar and Les Sharp on drums.

"The concert was actually a showcase for a major label that Mike Varney had arranged. We recently found this concert on a Beta tape and had it transferred to digital format. Considering the show was 35 years ago and shot on one camera by a fan, it obviously has some technical flaws but we decided to release it for its "historical" importance. Leather's performance alone is worth the price of admission!

"'Mystery Of Illusion' shows the band's mastery of light and dark dynamics. Mystery Of Illusion has just been reissued on CD by Divebomb Records."

DEAD GIRLS ACADEMY Debut "Agonize" Music Video

Dead Girls Academy is delivering another act of rock and roll chaos with “Agonize”, the band’s third music video from their new album, Doves In Glass Houses, available digitally worldwide.

Like any good mystery, Doves In Glass Houses peels back the layers of a compelling, emotional and dramatic life led by Dead Girls Academy linchpin and vocalist Michael Orlando. The overcoming of demons and redemption reveals the answers and other intriguing questions paralyzing Orlando’s life.

Filmed by director Scott Hansen, Orlando adds, “We literally shut down the Hard Rock Café on the Las Vegas Strip. Scott had the vision of using a movie projector on my face and body, projecting occultist type images throughout."

"I’m known for publicly airing my dirty laundry through my lyrics,” admits Orlando, “but with this song I really wanted to take those bottled up feelings from a toxic relationship and get them off my chest, once and for all.”

ALICE COOPER Releases 'Fact Video' For 'Elected'

Legendary rocker Alice Cooper has released a "fact video" for his classic song "Elected".

The Godfather of Shock Rock recently produced a new "campaign" video for "Elected". The clip takes a lighthearted look at the process and positions Cooper as the best presidential candidate. Running on the Wild Party ticket, Cooper's campaign platform speaks volumes: "I can do nothing as well as they can do nothing."

The new video features call-backs to the original 1972 music video, in which Cooper first announced his "candidacy" and the formation of the Wild Party.

Since all eyes and ears are on this year's heated election, Cooper's video administers just the right dose of levity that we all need. The song remains a tried and true anthem for modern times.

"Elected" was the first single from Cooper's iconic sixth studio album, "Billion Dollar Babies". The record reached No. 1 in the U.S. and U.K. and was certified platinum by the RIAA.

In a 2018 interview with The Guardian, Cooper said that he keeps his political opinions to himself. "I don't like to mix politics and rock 'n' roll," he said. "I don't look at Bono, Sting and Bruce Springsteen as political. I look at them as being humanitarian. I'll contribute to anything humanitarian. Helping people who can't help themselves. But when musicians are telling people who to vote for, I think that's an abuse of power. You're telling your fans not to think for themselves, just to think like you. Rock 'n' roll is about freedom — and that's not freedom."

Four years ago, Cooper said that rock stars offering their political opinions is "the worst idea ever." "First of all, why do people think rock stars know more than they do?" he said. "That is the biggest fallacy in the world — if anything, we're dumber. We're not smarter than anybody else. I mean, why do you think we're rock stars?

"Trust me, we don't read magazines you don't read. Nobody calls us up and gives us as inside information on politics. We know less than you do. If I watch TV, it's 'Family Guy'.

"Rock 'n' roll was built to go as far away from politics as you could get. When my mom and dad talked about who to vote for, I'd go in the other room and put on THE BEATLES or ROLLING STONES — and I'm still like that."

Cooper, who considers himself a humanitarian, said that he had no problem with artists using their platform to highlight global issues if it benefited others.

He said: "I think what Bono does and what [Bruce] Springsteen does, Sting and all the people that raise money for others — that's humanitarian, and I'm all for that. But I don't think that's political."

In a 2016 interview with Rolling Stone, Cooper stated about then-Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump: "He's an interesting character. It seems like he shoots himself in the foot every single day and gets more popular by doing it. It's the weirdest. It's like [Kurt] Vonnegut: Everything that shouldn't happen is happening."

Cooper previously said that he would even go so far as to do the opposite of what everyone else is doing just to make a point. During the 2004 election season, he said: "When I read the list of people who are supporting Kerry, if I wasn't already a Bush supporter, I would have immediately switched. Linda Ronstadt? Don Henley? Geez, that's a good reason right there to vote for Bush."

He also mused about sitting between such political rocker icons as John Lennon and Harry Nilsson while they argued politics and thinking, "I don't care."

THE DEAD DAISIES Drummer DEEN CASTRONOVO Performs "Unspoken" Playthrough; Video

In the new video below, The Dead Daisies drummer Deen Castronovo performs a playthrough of the band's single, "Unspoken":

Another recently released playthrough video sees The Dead Daisies rhythm guitarist David Lowy perform a playthrough of the band's latest single, "Bustle And Flow":

Glenn Hughes performs a playthrough of "Bustle And Flow":

Rock bands have always used music videos to express their creativity and innovation, “Bustle And Flow” is no exception.

The Dead Daisies have collaborated with Creative Works (London), a branding and content studio (live concert graphic artists for Guns N’ Roses and Aerosmith, amongst others) to provide the latest visuals for “Bustle And Flow”. Together they are forging new ground creating narrative driven real-time immersive visual and music content, that spans live, social and digital channels. This Animated Music Experience (A.M.E) uses the Unreal Engine game engine that is behind the worldwide online video game phenomenon Fortnite, amongst others.

The Dead Daisies are always looking for original ideas and providing unique experiences for their fans. This new offering taps into the gaming aesthetic that dominates the globe and enables the band to connect with audiences of all ages, whilst remaining on the cutting edge of technology.

A spellbinding animation sets the backdrop for the song from their upcoming album, Holy Ground which will be released January 22, 2021.

In this dark, fiery tale a Mysterious Woman arrives at the entrance of a foreboding Sideshow Carnival that has pitched up on the outskirts of town in the grounds of an old dilapidated church graveyard. With stealth and speed on her side, the Raven deals out her punishment outwitting her prey at every turn and subjecting her quarry to a swift demise.

“Filled with energy and vigor, 'BustleAand Flow' emerged as one of the last tracks to make the cut. It builds and builds and has great movement. The song and the video are about walking through the fear,” says vocalist and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Glenn Hughes.

The Animated Music Experience can be seen below:

Lineup:

Vocals/Bass: Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple, Black Country Communion)
Guitar: Doug Aldrich (Whitesnake, Dio)

Exclusive: MOLLO RILLA Premieres “Night Fang” Video

“Night Fang,” the first single from Ohio-based rockers Mollo Rilla’s sophomore album, Viva El Camino, is available today via all major digital music providers here . BraveWords is hosting the video for the new single; check it out!

“...the song is a fictitious story about a band of troublesome misfits hunting down a mischievous werewolf. Once tracked down, the group discovers the werewolf is not what they imagined at all, and a raucous party ensues! Although entirely mythical and fabricated, the story teaches the age old lesson, 'never judge a book by its cover' and respect, celebrate, and appreciate others differences and accept those for who (or in this case ‘what’) they are. " – Vocalist/guitarist Marco Ciofani

Viva El Camino, the follow up to the band’s stunning 2019 self-titled debut, is set for release December 4 via Seeing Red Records. With a drive to up the ante from the first record, the quartet flew to Los Angeles to work with renown engineer Bil Lane (Bob Dylan, Jackson Browne) and producer/engineer Andrew Murdock (aka Mudrock), whose credits include Godsmack and Powerman 5000 and many more, at the Hobby Shop Recording Studio West.

Since Mollo Rilla’s inception, the group’s core mission is one of musical freedom - and simply creating damn fine rock music. Together, the group effortlessly blends styles from Latin to rockabilly, surf to hip hop, and even Disco. Mollo Rilla’s lyrical themes focus on feelings, thoughts and beliefs on freedom, fantasy, faith and, of course, love.

No stranger to the music industry, main lyricist and songwriter Ciofani was previously signed as a songwriter under Roundhill publishing in Nashville. For a year he co-wrote songs with artists all around the city, including former members of Cage the Elephant’s Lincoln Parish. Disenchanted with Nashville and writing music for others, Ciofani returned to his hometown of Cleveland to create something all his own, and in 2017 he found the perfect musicians to compliment his unique writing style. May 2019 saw the release of Mollo Rilla’s independent debut, followed by extensive touring that spring and summer. Another single, “Sangria,” was released in the fall of 2019 and received airplay on Cleveland's iHeart Radio station, 100.7 WMMS. Based on the buzz surrounding their debut album, Mollo Rilla was invited to share the stage with such luminaries as Weezer, Halestorm and Static X at the 2020 Inkcarceration Festival, which ultimately was thwarted by COVID-19.

SYSTEM OF A DOWN Releases First New Music In 15 Years

It's been 15 years since the Grammy-winning, multi-platinum-selling SYSTEM OF A DOWN, one of the most beloved rock bands in the world, released new music. For years, fans and press speculated about this, and of late, the rumor mill has gone into overdrive hypothesizing when the band might return to the studio. Today, motivated by the recently-erupted conflict between Artsakh and Azerbaijan, the latter aided by Turkey and accountable for the greatest violence the region has endured in 26 years, SYSTEM OF A DOWN — Daron Malakian (guitars, vocals), Serj Tankian (vocals), Shavo Odadjian (bass) and John Dolmayan (drums) — announces the release of its first new songs in 15 years: "Protect The Land" and "Genocidal Humanoidz". Produced by Malakian, who also wrote the music and lyrics, both songs are streaming now on all DSPs and are available for purchase on Bandcamp with band royalties earmarked for the Armenia Fund.

So why now? Last month, profoundly affected by the unwarranted surprise attacks and bombings of civilians perpetrated by Azerbaijan and Turkey (Turkey was responsible for the genocide of 1.5 million Armenians in 1915 as well as over 100 years of denial), Dolmayan texted his three bandmates.

Said Dolmayan: "I texted, 'no matter how we feel about each other, no matter what issues linger from the past, we need to put them aside because this is bigger than SYSTEM OF A DOWN and bigger than all of us.....we need to do something to support our people.'" Joined together on a subsequent conference call, everyone voiced the same concern and the vital importance of helping in some way, the way they knew best — music.

"The aggression and injustice being perpetrated against the Armenian people in Artsakh and Armenia by Azerbaijan and Turkey is a human rights violation and a war crime," said Tankian. "All of us in SYSTEM realize this is an existential battle for our people, so this is very personal for us. What we need right now is for the world to put politics aside and support Armenia by sanctioning Turkey and Azerbaijan and recognizing Artsakh."

Today, SYSTEM OF A DOWN also releases the music video for "Protect The Land" that incorporates recent footage of the protests and on-the-ground fighting in Artsakh, but in a very personal and aesthetic way. As he did for all previous SYSTEM OF A DOWN releases, Odadjian executive-produced the music video and curated the cover and brand art for the project. "I wanted to show the unification of our people around the world for one common cause, illustrating the power in numbers," he said, "so we brought together people from all ages and professions who believe in and are fighting for that same cause. It's one thing to come up with an idea, but to see it come alive as happened with this video, has been just incredible."

On the recording of "Protect The Land" and "Genocidal Humanoidz", Odadjian added: "It was such a pleasure for us to be together in the studio again, very comforting and natural, like no time had passed at all."

In announcing the release of the new songs, SYSTEM OF A DOWN explained in a statement: "We as SYSTEM OF A DOWN have just released new music for the first time in 15 years. The time to do this is now, as together, the four of us have something extremely important to say as a unified voice. These two songs, 'Protect The Land' and 'Genocidal Humanoidz' both speak of a dire and serious war being perpetrated upon our cultural homelands of Artsakh and Armenia.

"On September 27, the combined forces of Azerbaijan and Turkey (along with Isis terrorists from Syria) attacked the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh, which we as Armenians call Artsakh. For over the past month, civilians young and old have been awakened day and night by the frightful sights and sounds of rocket attacks, falling bombs, missiles, drones and terrorist attacks.

"They've had to find sanctuary in makeshift shelters, trying to avoid the fallout of outlawed cluster bombs raining down on their streets and homes, hospitals and places of worship. Their attackers have set their forests and endangered wildlife ablaze using white phosphorus, another banned weapon.

"And Why?

"Because over 30 years ago in 1988, the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh (which at the time was an Autonomous Oblast within the USSR), were tired of being treated as second class citizens and decided to declare their rightful independence from the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic whose borders engulfed their own.

"This ultimately led to a war of self determination by Armenians in Karabakh against Azerbaijan that ended in a cease fire in 1994, with Armenians retaining control of their ancestral homelands and maintaining their independence to the present day. Our people have lived there for millennia, and for most families there, it's the only home they and their forefathers and mothers have ever known. They just want to live in peace as they have for centuries.

"There is an immediate need for global citizens to urge their respective governments to not only condemn the actions of the corrupt regime leaders of Azerbaijan and Turkey, but to also insist world leaders act with urgency to bring peace to the region and rightfully recognize Artsakh as the independent nation it is.

"Most importantly and urgently, we humbly implore you to donate, in sums small or large to provide desperately needed aid and basic supplies for those adversely affected with what are ever growing accounts of crimes against humanity.

"We realize that for many of you, there are more convenient ways you like listening to music, so please consider the opportunity to download these songs as an act of charity above all else. The music and lyrics speak for themselves. We need you to speak for Artsakh."

In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Malakian stated: "If we don't do this, there isn't any other huge Armenian rock band out there that's gonna do this. There aren't that many big Armenian celebrities out there that are going to do this. It's kind of a duty. We came together because our country needed us, not necessarily because we're so amped to do a brand-new SYSTEM OF A DOWN song. Our people needed us to do this."

"Protect The Land" a was originally written by Malakian for the next album by his other group, SCARS ON BROADWAY, while "Genocidal Humanoidz" was penned three or four years ago when Malakian, Dolmayan and bassist Shavo Odadjian convened for a jam session that produced several songs, only to abandon them when Tankian wouldn't commit to an album.

For the time being, there are no plans for SYSTEM OF A DOWN to record any more new material.

"If it was up to me, we'd have a new album every three years," Dolmayan said. "But things aren't up to me. I'm at the mercy of my team, and although I fought for it for many years with band members, I've accepted that it is what it is. We do have five albums and [now] two songs. We've accomplished a lot in our careers. If it ends at that, so be it."

ALBERT BOUCHARD Releases Music Video For 'Blue Oyster Cult' From 'Re Imaginos' Album

Albert Bouchard, who is best known as a founding member of BLUE ÖYSTER CULT, will release "Re Imaginos" on November 6 through he and his brother's (Joe Bouchard) new imprint label, RockHeart Records/Deko Entertainment (ADA/Warner Music Group). The album is Albert's reimagining of the 1988 BLUE ÖYSTER CULT LP "Imaginos", which was originally intended as Albert's solo album. As Albert explains: "Most BOC fans know at this point that 'Imaginos' was supposed to be my solo album. Some people think it's the best BOC album, others think it's not a 'true' BOC album. In either case, they're right. I made this new album for them so that they can hear a more properly realized version of the tale."

The official video for the album's second single, "Blue Oyster Cult", can be seen below.

Albert says: "'Blue Oyster Cult' was a poem that Sandy Pearlman wrote in the late '60s. When BLUE ÖYSTER CULT was finalizing our recording contract with Columbia Records, we took the poem as our band name. Eric Bloom put Sandy's poem to music on our third album, 'Secret Treaties'. This version is different from that but very similar to the version I created for the original 'Imaginos' album in 1988. It tells the story of a sailor who has been put ashore and is discovered by the Blue Öyster Cult, non-human beings who nurse 'Imaginos' back to health and give him a mission to find the mysterious black mirror, hidden deep in the jungles of the Yucatan peninsula."

The original BLUE ÖYSTER CULT lineup sold millions of albums for Columbia Records, with such classic songs as "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" and the #1 hit on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart "Burning For You".

"Black Telescope" is the first single and video and tells the story of an undead creature that takes the form of a fish and now uses alchemy to rule the solar system. This being sees with the power of the mind and does not need eyes. It was more ordinary and needed the help of technology to rule the world in the past, at a time when it was in the shape of a human sailor and knew the dangers of the deep. When the sailor went to the telescope workshop, he experienced a strange rebirth and became an all-powerful force.

Also to celebrate the launch of RockHeart Records and the release of "Re Imaginos", the Bouchard brothers are offering a limited amount of the official RockHeart Records cowbell autographed personally by both Joe and Albert.

Albert's infamous cowbell part in "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" was the basis of the classic Will Ferrell skit on "SNL", which also starred Christopher Walken. With "The Reaper", an all-time classic on YouTube and every other digital platform, with zillions of views, the Bouchard brothers are forever cemented in pop culture.

"Re Imaginos" track listing:

01. I Am The One You Warned Me Of

02. Del Rio Song

03. In The Presence Of Another World

04. Siege And Investiture Of Baron Von Frankenstein's Castle At Weisseria

05. Girl That Love Made Blind

06. Astronomy

07. Imaginos

08. Gil Blanco County

09. Blue Oyster Cult

MAGIC DANCE To Release Remnants Album In December; "Restless Nights" Music Video Streaming

Long Island’s Magic Dance will return with their new album, Remnants, on December 4. This album offers up more of the band’s signature ‘80s influenced sound that they are now known for, but at the same time brings a distinct contemporary edge.

Performed with absolute genuine emotion and conviction, it’s hard not to be swept up and carried away in these mesmerizing songs. The power of the melodies and the entrancing sound really stick with the listener throughout the entire album.

Fans can get their first taste of the album with the new single and video, "Restless Nights". Watch the video below, and pre-order/save Remnants here.

"This song is about wasted youth; one borne of restlessness rather than recklessness. It's about a time in my life when I wanted more, but was holding myself back. In the end, you realize that you can't change the past, but you can learn from your regrets and use them as fuel for a better future," says Magic Dance mastermind Jon Siejka of the new single "Restless Nights".

"Remnants is an album that moves from dark to light. It's about accepting your own mortality and the inevitability of death. But, this realization can give you the drive to live life true to yourself, if you only let it. Sonically, it's a mix of all I've done to date with Magic Dance plus more. I hope it will melt your faces and hearts!" he continues of the album.

Magic Dance is the solo project of singer/songwriter Jon Siejka, formed in Long Island, NY in 2012 as an outlet for his synthwave songs. A self-taught musician and producer, the project is heavily influenced by the iconic synth-pop and movie soundtrack music of the ‘80s, as is par for the course with synthwave. Recently, the sound has evolved into a heavier and more guitar-oriented style, leaning more towards classic AOR, with strong hints of the sounds of the mid ‘80s.

Tracklisting:

"Oh No
"Long And Lost Lonely Nights"
"Zombie Breath Surprise"
"Cut Me Deep"
"When Your World Comes Down"
"Change Your Life"
"I’m Still Holding On"
"Changes"

"Til Your Last Breath"
"I Can’t Be The Only One"

AMARANTHE Releases Music Video For 'BOOM!1'

Swedish modern metal force AMARANTHE recently released its new album "Manifest", via Nuclear Blast. The official music video for the disc's fifth single, "BOOM!1", can be seen below.

AMARANTHE comments: "In a time when everyone seems to have an opinion about absolutely everything our very own motormouth, GG6, reserves his right to help himself to a small arsenal of explosives topped off with a ton or two of dynamite, and watch your opinion go 'BOOM!1'! Discussions on elections, pandemics and riots has led to increased polarization in today's society, but our Growl God simply prefers it all at 1000°F. A full-on onslaught of detuned metal with some of the fastest growls to grace today's scene, 'BOOM!1' acts as a sequel to 2018's 'GG6', and it raises the bar on every level — with a video presented in a Tarantino-esque style, sure to be just as entertaining as the song itself! So serve yourself a cold glass of Napalm, and watch your world go 'BOOM!1'!"

"Manifest" is available as CD, media book with four bonus tracks, media book bundle with patch (limited to 250 units, mailorder exclusive), gold vinyl (limited to 300 units, mailorder + wholesale exclusive), blue/black marbled vinyl (limited to 300 units, EMP exclusive), cyan vinyl (NB USA exclusive) as well as six individual band member vinyl (limited to 150 units each, bandshop exclusive).

AMARANTHE comments: "'Manifest' is the latest step in the evolution of AMARANTHE, and across the board it is the boldest statement: We are here to stay, we are utterly passionate about what we do and we will take no prisoners in our strive for musical excellence! An all-out metal rollercoaster, 'Manifest' does not hold back in any regard — from the first second to the last, it is brimful with some of the heaviest AMARANTHE riffs to date, soaring and emotional vocals and unrelenting metallic fury. We hope you will enjoy this album as much as we enjoyed making it!"

AMARANTHE has spent the last decade establishing itself as a formidable, positive and fervently melodic force for metallic good. From their explosive self-titled debut in 2011 to the more sophisticated, streamlined likes of 2014's "Massive Addictive" and its immaculate follow-up "Maximalism" (2016), AMARANTHE has masterfully blurred the lines between melodic metal, crushing brutality, cinematic sweep and futuristic sparkle. Led by the endlessly ingenious songwriting of guitarist Olof Mörck and powerhouse vocalist Elize Ryd, their rise to prominence has been a joy to behold.

Widely acclaimed as a dazzling live act, the Swedes reached a new peak of creativity on 2018's hugely successful "Helix": an album that pushed the band's vision to new heights, breadths and depths, while showcasing the brilliance of Elize and her co-vocalists, Henrik Englund Wilhelmsson and recent recruit Nils Molin.

Not just a glorious return but a wholesale upgrade for their exuberant sound, "Manifest" is simply the most daring, dynamic and unforgettable album that AMARANTHE have released to date. The perfect antidote to the nagging anxieties plaguing us all in these troubled times, it's a technicolor celebration of metal's ageless power, blazing with all of life's colors and chaos, but delivered with utmost artistry and skill.

AC/DC: Deluxe 'Power Up' Lightbox Unboxing Video

AC/DC will release its long-awaited comeback album, "Power Up", on November 13. The follow-up to 2014's "Rock Or Bust" features AC/DC's reunited lineup of Brian Johnson (vocals), Phil Rudd (drums), Cliff Williams (bass), Angus Young (guitar) and Stevie Young (guitar). Johnson and Williams both left in 2016 for health reasons; and Rudd was sidelined in 2015 with various legal issues.

"Power Up" will be available in multiple configurations that will excite collectors and die-hard fans alike, including digital, CD, and deluxe versions. The limited edition, one-of-a-kind deluxe "Power Up" box is the ultimate fan package. Hit the button on the side of the box and watch the flashing neon AC/DC logo light up while the opening bars of "Shot In The Dark" blast out of the built-in speaker. Inside the box is the full CD package in a soft-pack with a 20-page booklet that features exclusive photos and USB charging cable allowing the box to remain powered up and on display. The vinyl LP will be pressed on 180-gram vinyl and housed in a gatefold jacket. Limited-edition variants of the LP will be available at select retailers nationwide, as well as the band's online store. The album will be available on all digital platforms.

An unboxing video for the deluxe "Power Up" lightbox is available below.

Angus told Rolling Stone about the LP's first single, "Shot In The Dark": "It's got that great AC/DC vibe about it, great swagger, and a good AC/DC rock and roll chant. The title is a little bit cheeky because we all like a little nip [of alcohol] in the night or a few shots in the dark. I was very glad when the record company heard it [that] they felt it was a very strong song and should be the first one that people hear."

"Power Up" was recorded over a six-week period in August and September 2018 at Warehouse Studios in Vancouver with producer Brendan O'Brien, who also worked 2008's "Black Ice" and 2014's "Rock Or Bust".

"What I like about Brendan is that he keeps you working when you're doing a project with him," Angus said. "He's talented himself. He knows his bass and his guitar and a bit of drums. And piano. He covers the spectrum for what we can do musically. It's very good because you’re working with a musician, since he can apply that musical knowledge."

Although AC/DC originally planned on releasing "Power Up" earlier this year, the pandemic forced the band to reconsider.

"We were hoping to get the album out before all this happened," Angus said. "They were getting ideas together for packaging and video promo things. And then that virus thing came along. It kind of put everyone on hold."

"Power Up" track listing:

05. Kick You When You’re Down

06. Witch's Spell
