Watch ANTHRAX's SCOTT IAN Play SYSTEM OF A DOWN's 'Bounce' With His 10-Year-Old Son

Watch ANTHRAX's SCOTT IAN Play SYSTEM OF A DOWN's 'Bounce' With His 10-Year-Old Son

ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian was joined by his 10-year-old son Revel Young Ian on drums as they performed a rendition of the SYSTEM OF A DOWN classic "Bounce" for an Instagram video which Scott shared on Sunday (February 13).

Scott captioned the clip: "A big BOUNCE for BOWL day!!!"

Two members of SYSTEM OF A DOWN weighed in on the performance, with bassist Shavo Odadjian writing in the comments "Bad Assssssss!!" while guitarist Daron Malakian stated: "This is Awesome @scottianthrax the kid can really play. Your not so bad yourself!!!!! Such an honor!!"

Scott previously shared videos of him and Revel performing the SEPULTURA songs "Roots Bloody Roots" and "Territory".

Revel is apparently a gifted multi-instrumentalist who joined the FOO FIGHTERS on stage in September 2019 at the Bourbon & Beyond festival in Louisville, Kentucky to perform "Everlong" on guitar when he was just eight years old.

Back in 2014, Ian told Horns Up Rocks that his then-three-old son was a big fan of METALLICA, THE BEATLES and AC/DC and that he could already tell the difference between Bon Scott's voice and that of Brian Johnson.

"He knows a lot of the stuff that he hears or sees in the house," Scott said at the time. "But what's really cool is that he actually recognizes and knows the difference between Bon Scott and Brian Johnson, which is pretty cool, I think, for an almost three-year-old. Anytime AC/DC is on, he'll go, 'That's Bon singing.' And then when it's not Bon, he'll say, 'That's not Bon singing.' He knows. That's pretty cool, I think."

Asked whether metal musicians should be parents, Ian said it was the best thing that had ever happened to him. He added: "I think you have to take that on a case-by-case basis. I couldn't say enough about having a child; I think it's the greatest thing ever in the whole world. But I do think that there are a lot of people on this planet, not necessarily metal musicians, that shouldn't be parents."

DERRICK GREEN Plays First SEPULTURA Concert In Two Years With Broken Foot (Video)

DERRICK GREEN Plays First SEPULTURA Concert In Two Years With Broken Foot (Video)

Brazilian/American metallers SEPULTURA played their first show in two years last night (Saturday, February 12) at Circo Voador in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The concert was also notable for the fact that singer Derrick Green wore a brace on his left leg after apparently breaking his foot not long ago.

A short time after the gig, Green shared a few pictures of the concert on his Instagram and he included the following message: "Incredible feeling to play our first @sepultura show again after two years, even with a broken foot!! Muito obrigado Rio de Janeiro!! #sepultura #riodejaneiro #circovoador #metal #grateful".

SEPULTURA's current lineup comprises Green, guitarist Andreas Kisser, bassist Paulo Xisto Pinto Jr. and drummer Eloy Casagrande.

Cleveland native Green went from fronting hardcore band OUTFACE in Ohio to relocating to New York and then living in São Paulo, Brazil for nearly two decades.

While the pandemic paralyzed the entire world and prevented bands from touring, the members of SEPULTURA refused to sit back and feel like animals trapped in a cage. Therefore, in early 2020, the legendary Brazilians, along with their American vocalist, seized the moment to start their own weekly "SepulQuarta" video podcast in which they invited other famous musicians from all over the world to not only discuss important topics but also perform a track from SEPULTURA's massive catalog together with the band. The resulting full-length compilation was released last August, with the album containing 15 classics featuring internationally renowned guests and friends.

SEPULTURA's latest studio album, "Quadra", was released in February 2020 via Nuclear Blast. The LP was created at Sweden's Fascination Street Studios with renowned producer Jens Bogren.

JUDAS PRIEST's RICHIE FAULKNER Is Plotting His First-Ever Solo Album: 'We're Looking For Record Labels'

JUDAS PRIEST's RICHIE FAULKNER Is Plotting His First-Ever Solo Album: 'We're Looking For Record Labels'

During an appearance on the "In The Trenches With Ryan Roxie" video podcast, JUDAS PRIEST guitarist Richie Faulkner confirmed that he has used some of the coronavirus downtime to work on a solo project. He explained (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I haven't really spoken much about it publicly, but there is something I've kind of been [putting] together during the COVID period. I mean, I know we're still going through it but there's been a lot of downtime. So I've used that time to kind of get some songs I've been working on, get them together, polish them up, get some people together that I respect in the music business and record some stuff. And I haven't spoken a lot about it. It's in the process of being finalized, and we're looking for deals and stuff. We're looking for deals at the moment, we're looking for record labels, so I don't wanna get too far ahead of myself."

Asked if the album will feature guest musicians or it will be presented as a complete solo effort, Richie said: "Well, I've always been into the band. It's never been like RICHIE FAULKNER'S RAINBOW or anything like that. I've always been into the band — with the band name and the four or five guys or girls in it rather than a solo project. But also, when I joined PRIEST, I didn't wanna sort of get the gig and then, straight away, 'Oh, now listen to my solo thing.' PRIEST, they welcomed me in, they gave me a voice, they gave me an opinion, and I felt like this was my band. They've made me a part of it and I gave back a thousand percent. So I didn't wanna sort of then do my own thing and abuse that opportunity, if you know what I mean. But 10 or 11 years in, I feel that fans know that I'm not gonna abuse that opportunity. I've given 10, 11, almost 12 years [to PRIEST] now, so I felt, with the pandemic as well, with a bit of downtime, maybe put some stuff into that."

As for the musical direction of his solo album, Faulkner said: "As far as stylistically, it's always hard to tell, really. You just do what you do. You can hear where the roots are, from PRIEST, but I think it's different enough to be its own monster. And then hopefully someone else interprets it in their own way and hears something completely different to what I hear, hopefully."

Faulkner joined PRIEST in 2011 as the replacement for original guitarist K.K. Downing.

Richie was once the guitarist in the backing group for Lauren Harris, daughter of IRON MAIDEN bassist Steve Harris.

Faulkner and his girlfriend Mariah Lynch, daughter of former DOKKEN guitarist George Lynch, welcomed their first child, a baby girl named Daisy Mae, in July 2020.

Last September, Faulkner suffered an acute cardiac aortic dissection during PRIEST's performance at the Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, Kentucky. Faulkner was rushed to the UofL Health - Jewish Hospital where the cardiothoracic surgery team needed approximately 10 hours to complete a life-saving surgery.

SAMMY HAGAR Resumes His Las Vegas Residency (Video)

SAMMY HAGAR Resumes His Las Vegas Residency (Video)

Sammy Hagar kicked off his 2022 "Sammy Hagar & Friends" Las Vegas residency at The STRAT Hotel, Casino & SkyPod on Wednesday (February 9), entertaining fans with a high-energy performance of some of his greatest hits, including "There's Only One Way To Rock", "Right Now" and "Finish What Ya Started", and gave fans a preview of a handful of songs that will be on his upcoming album.

His Las Vegas Strip residency continued Friday night (February 11), with subsequent shows on Saturday, February 12, Wednesday, March 23, Friday, March 25 and Saturday, March 26. Fans can expect to hear songs from his MONTROSE, VAN HALEN and CHICKENFOOT days. Every night delivers a different show and in the first six shows, alone, the "Sammy Hagar & Friends" residency performed more than 100 different songs.

Sammy is joined at the shows by his supergroup THE CIRCLE, featuring Hagar's fellow Rock And Roll Hall Of Famer and former VAN HALEN bandmate Michael Anthony, drummer Jason Bonham and guitarist Vic Johnson.

Last month, Sammy told FOX 5's Heather Lake about his critically acclaimed Las Vegas Strip residency: "Well, last year, when we first started, Bob Weir from THE GRATEFUL DEAD came [and jammed with us]. He's my good buddy and we do this all the time. He lives close to me. And Stephen Pearcy from RATT was in town; he came and sang a few songs with me. Rick Springfield, who's my partner in the Beach Bar Rum, he came to town and he came up and sang with us. So, yeah, my friends always do that. At Cabo Wabo birthday bashes, I've had every person in the planet, has come down to my birthday and jammed, so everybody knows I'm a jammer. And the place is bigger than the Cabo Wabo, but it's still small enough so it's really intimate. It's 900 seats, but the stage is a semi-circle and a ramp. I can stand right in the middle of the room. It's awesome. The sound is great. We decorated it completely like the Cabo Wabo with all these neon paintings and murals and stuff that we had made and draped the whole place. So when you come in, the lights go down and you go, 'Woah. Wait a minute. It's the birthday bash.' That's what I think a residency has to be."

The residency, presented by Sammy's Beach Bar Cocktail Co.'s sparkling rum cocktails, Santo Tequila and Sammy's Beach Bar Rum, brings Hagar's signature beach vibe to The STRAT Theater with Cabo San Lucas-themed décor and themed cocktails.

"Sammy Hagar & Friends" is produced by industry leader SPI Entertainment and Hagar's manager, Tom Consolo of TC Management.

GHOST's TOBIAS FORGE: 'I Always Try To Write Songs That I Have Never Written Before'

GHOST's TOBIAS FORGE: 'I Always Try To Write Songs That I Have Never Written Before'

Swedish occult rockers GHOST will release their fifth album, "Impera", on March 11 via Loma Vista/Concord. The band's leader, Tobias Forge, worked on the follow-up to 2018's "Prequelle" with producer Klas Åhlund and Swedish co-writers Salem Al Fakir and Vincent Pontare, whose credits include Madonna and Lady Gaga.

Forge discussed the "Impera" songwriting process in a new interview with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He said: "When you're writing, you just wanna make a really good record, drenched in as many hooks as you can possibly muster. The only problem with trying to create records for me, besides ability, is trying not to repeat myself. I always try to write songs that I have never written before. I always try to add songs to our repertoire that we don't have already and, lyrically, I also try to not use the rhymes that were done in the past. That's probably the hardest because you sort of run out of rhymes and words and phrases and, thus, you need to really sharpen up. Sometimes it comes out really good and sometimes I can look back on lyrics and I'm like 'yecch.'"

Asked how the collaboration with Salem and Vincent plays into that, Forge said: "They are good friends of mine and we've written quite a lot together. If we set a date to work and spend a couple days in the studio, we always come out of there with something that sounds rockin'. Usually, I come in with a few ideas to work with and then we take it from there. Since they are very professional and they work together and also together with a lot of different artists, they will always give me a little bit of outside perspective. But they have another objective to what I'm doing. Where sometimes I would dismiss an idea of my own, just because I found it predictable, they can turn around and say, 'We should do that, that's how the song should be, because it sounds so much like GHOST.' 'Oh, okay.' If I were alone in the room, I may not have thought that."

GHOST kicked off its co-headlining tour with VOLBEAT on January 25 at the Reno Events Center in Reno, Nevada. During its 16-song set, GHOST performed the recently released single "Hunter's Moon", a cover of METALLICA's "Enter Sandman" and debuted another song from "Impera", called "Kaisarion".

GHOST's 26-date co-headlining U.S. arena tour with VOLBEAT and special guests TWIN TEMPLE will conclude on March 3 in Anaheim, California.

In March 2020, at final show of GHOST's "Prequelle" tour in Mexico City, Mexico, the band officially introduced Papa Emeritus IV, the new character who will front the act for its next LP phase.

Forge performed as a "new" Papa Emeritus on each of the band's first three LPs, with each version of Papa replacing the one that came before it. Papa Emeritus III was retired in favor of Cardinal Copia before the release of "Prequelle".

RATT's STEPHEN PEARCY Reflects On The First Time He Met VAN HALEN

RATT's STEPHEN PEARCY Reflects On The First Time He Met VAN HALEN

In a new interview with Metal Edge, RATT singer Stephen Pearcy reflected on the first time he met VAN HALEN. He said: "It was at the Whisky [A Go Go in West Hollywood]. I lived in San Diego, but a friend of mine kept saying, 'You gotta see this band — they're playing Gazzarri's and they're amazing.' I kept missing them at Gazzarri's, but then one time he said, 'Okay, now they're playing the Whisky. You've gotta go.' So I figured, 'Okay, well, I've seen enough of how shows work in San Diego to know that the bands go to the club early and they go in backstage…' So I drove myself up to the Whisky and I just parked around the corner, on Clark Street, and waited. And soon enough, I fucking saw Dave [Lee Roth] pull up, park and walk up the steps. And I just yelled out, 'You wanna smoke a joint?' He said, 'Yeah,' and I got in. And once I was inside, I said, 'Later! Where's Ed [Van Halen]?' [Laughs]"

He continued: "I'd go up to L.A. and see them all the time after that, and I became good friends with Ed. I'd go to the house where Ed lived with his mom, and he had a little cot and a little workspace with all his guitars. It was fucking amazing. And I'd go back to San Diego and tell people, 'There's this fucking band that's gonna blow minds!' 'Yeah, yeah, sure…' And then a year or whatever later, you know, boom!"

Eddie died in October 2020 at the age of 65. The legendary VAN HALEN guitarist passed away at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, California.

Eddie was diagnosed with mouth cancer in 2000 and had tongue surgery. He later battled lung cancer and had been receiving radiation treatment in Germany. Things took a turn for the worse in early 2019 when Eddie got in a motorcycle accident. He was subsequently diagnosed with a brain tumor, and received gamma knife radiosurgery to treat the illness.

Pearcy and bassist Juan Croucier are the sole remaining original members in RATT's current lineup, which made its live debut in July 2018 in Mulvane, Kansas. Joining them in the band are drummer Pete Holmes (BLACK 'N BLUE, RATT'S JUAN CROUCIER) and guitarists Jordan Ziff (RAZER) and Frankie Lindia.

In January 2021, Pearcy told SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk" that he was open to the idea of making a new RATT album with all the surviving members of the band's classic lineup.

RATT hasn't released any new music since 2010's "Infestation"

SOULFLY Featuring FEAR FACTORY's DINO CAZARES: Video Of Fresno Concert

SOULFLY Featuring FEAR FACTORY's DINO CAZARES: Video Of Fresno Concert

Fan-filmed video footage of SOULFLY's February 10 concert at Strummer's in Fresno, California can be seen below.

FEAR FACTORY's Dino Cazares is once again playing guitar for SOULFLY on the Max Cavalera-fronted outfit's current U.S. tour. He previously performed with SOULFLY on the group's last U.S. run of dates, which took place in August and September of 2021.

SOULFLY kicked off its 35-date U.S. tour on February 7 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The trek will make stops in Seattle, Minneapolis, Nashville, and Baton Rouge before concluding in Gallup, New Mexico on March 19. Joining the band for select dates are SHORT FUSE and 200 STAB WOUNDS.

Prior to the launch of the tour, Cavalera commented: "SOULFLY would like to welcome back our brother/legend Dino Cazares to share the stage once again with us! Round One was amazing! The Tribe in other cities will now get the chance to see this epic lineup, playing classic trax and some surprises from our new record!"

Cazares added: "I will reenter the riff vortex with the SOULFLY Tribe! I look forward to rejoining Max and La Familia on their U.S. tour, destroying stages with an avalanche of classic anthems and brand new songs."

Last month, Max told Zippo Encore's "Art Of Rock" livestream series: "It's so cool that we have amazing friends like [Dino] in the industry. That you can call Dino up and he's available. So [it's] just really great… [Touring with him last year] was so much fun, man, because Dino… We grew up together. I was a huge FEAR FACTORY fan. I helped them get signed [to Roadrunner]. And then, of course, he plays on 'Eye For An Eye' on the first SOULFLY [album]; he plays guitars on it. So when we invited him to do that tour, it was a perfect match. And the fans, they lost their shit. It was so cool. Sometimes I would stay on the bus and I'd watch Dino get out of the bus and he'd just get mobbed; 10 kids would just surround him. I was, like, 'Oh, this is cool, man. This is what's up. This is some true metal shit right here.'"

In August, SOULFLY parted ways with longtime guitarist Marc Rizzo due to personal differences.

Rizzo joined SOULFLY in 2004, and appeared on all of the band's subsequent records, including "Prophecy" (2004), "Dark Ages" (2005), "Conquer" (2008), "Omen" (2010), "Enslaved" (2012), "Savages" (2013), "Archangel" (2015) and "Ritual" (2018). In 2007, Rizzo became a member of CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, the side project of SEPULTURA co-founders, brothers Max and Igor Cavalera, and has performed on all CAVALERA CONSPIRACY releases including "Inflikted", "Blunt Force Trauma", "Pandemonium" and the critically acclaimed 2017 LP "Psychosis".

Max and his bandmates have spent the last few months working on the follow-up to 2018's "Ritual" at Platinum Underground in Phoenix, Arizona with producer Arthur Rizk, who has previously worked with CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, POWER TRIP and CODE ORANGE.

SLASH: 'It Was A Very Liberating Experience' Recording '4' Album Live In The Studio

SLASH: 'It Was A Very Liberating Experience' Recording '4' Album Live In The Studio

SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS will release their new album, titled "4", on February 11 via Gibson Records in partnership with BMG. "4" is Slash's fifth solo album and fourth overall with his band featuring Myles Kennedy (vocals), Brent Fitz (drums), Todd Kerns (bass, vocals) and Frank Sidoris (guitar, vocals).

In a new interview with Jave Patterson of Reno's rock station Rock 104.5, Slash stated about "4" (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "The big difference about this record from the other ones is that we a) did it with [producer] Dave Cobb [Chris Stapleton, John Prine, Jason Isbell, Brandi Carlile] and b) we did it live. So we set up the backline like we would at a venue and just played the songs live like that and recorded them in the moment as is, with the vocals and guitars and all that. And that was pretty much a first time, and it was a very liberating experience to be able to record like that.

"Normally when we record, we play the song live together and then, because I hate to wear headphones and I hate the way my guitar sounds in the headphones, those are always considered to be dummy tracks and then I go back in the control room with the big monitors and play there," he explained. "But I've always wanted to be able to do it where we're all in just one room with the amps and play it live like that. And Dave was the first producer I've worked with that encouraged that idea."

In October, SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS released the official music video for the LP's first single, "The River Is Rising", shot on location in downtown Los Angeles with Gibson TV director Todd Harapiak.

For "4", Slash and the band traveled across the country together to Nashville, Tennessee and recorded the new album at the historic RCA Studio A.

The band's previous albums over the last decade — "Apocalyptic Love", "World On Fire" and "Living The Dream" — have continued on an upward trajectory, all achieving Top 5 Billboard charting debuts in the U.S. and reaching the Top 10 on 12 major charts across the globe. To date, the three SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS albums have now garnered 10 consecutive Top 5 Radio singles, spawned sold-out world tours, and have earned Slash and the band the best critical acclaim of their career with their latest album "Living The Dream" (2018) singled out by the Los Angeles Times, Classic Rock, Guitar World, Loudwire, LA Weekly, and more, as their best songs to date.

The new album "4" has the added history-making distinction of being the first-ever album to be released on the new Gibson Records label, which is headquartered in the iconic American instrument brand Gibson's hometown of Music City, Nashville. In light of the 30-year partnership between Gibson and the Grammy Award-winning Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee Slash, it makes sense the new SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS' album "4" will be released via Gibson Records.

SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS will kick off a North American headlining tour on February 8, in Portland, Oregon and hit 28 major cities, including Los Angeles, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, Denver, Nashville, Dallas, Austin, Houston, and more, before wrapping up March 26 in Orlando, Florida.

FOREIGNER's MICK JONES On IAN MCDONALD: 'He Was A Musician Of Great Substance And Versatility'

FOREIGNER's MICK JONES On IAN MCDONALD: 'He Was A Musician Of Great Substance And Versatility'

FOREIGNER leader Mick Jones has paid tribute to the band's original guitarist Ian McDonald, who passed away peacefully on February 9 in his home in New York City, surrounded by his family. He was 75 years old.

Earlier today, Jones released the following statement: "When I had the idea of forming FOREIGNER, Ian McDonald was among the first I turned to. He was and always will be a giant on the English progressive rock scene. He was a musician of great substance and versatility. It was a real thrill to work with him then and again at more recent FOREIGNER concerts. He will be sadly missed."

A master multi-instrumentalist, McDonald's musicianship was an integral part of launching celebrated progressive rock band KING CRIMSON. His keyboard and woodwind contributions led to the breakout success of the band's debut album, "In The Court Of The Crimson King", which is considered one of the most influential LPs of the genre. Blending elements of classical, jazz, and symphonic music, THE WHO's Pete Townshend called it "an uncanny masterpiece".

Joining FOREIGNER in 1976, McDonald played guitar as well as woodwinds and keyboard on the band's first three albums: "Foreigner" (1977), "Double Vision" (1978) and "Head Games" (1979). These chart-topping albums all reached platinum certification status, producing such iconic rock anthems as "Feels Like The First Time", "Cold As Ice", "Hot Blooded" and "Double Vision". He also was a part of a few FOREIGNER reunion shows in 2017 and 2018.

McDonald has figured prominently on four of the biggest-selling albums of the 10-year period from 1969 through 1979, encompassing two completely different rock genres (pop rock and progressive rock).

Most recently, McDonald's talents shined in his New York City-based band HONEY WEST.

McDonald further cemented his legacy with his work as a session musician, playing saxophone, keyboards, flute, vibraphone, and guitar. He appeared on numerous recordings throughout his career, including T.REX's iconic "Get It On (Bang A Gong)".

Three years ago, McDonald said that he initially had second thoughts about leaving KING CRIMSON after "In The Court Of The Crimson King", telling The Los Angeles Beat: "I used to have regrets about that, and that I should have stayed at least through the second album. But now I don’t regret it because had I stayed, things would have turned out very differently for me up until this moment… I'm very happy with the way things have played out since then."

Asked in a 2017 interview with Glide Magazine if he was a musical child, Ian said: "Yeah, I listened to music as a child. There was an old upright piano that I used to plunk a bit on, I suppose. [Laughs] There was a Spanish-style guitar sort of lying around that my father had. We had a record player and thinking about it, I'm really glad. We had Les Paul and Mary Ford records and classical records and things like Scheherazade and things like that, so I did grow up listening to music, and then when rock and roll appeared, I got really interested and decided that's what I want to do. People like Chuck Berry and Little Richard and others like Eddie Cochran and Gene Vincent and even Ricky Nelson — he made some great records as well. I got interested from that point of view, and then, of course, THE BEATLES came along and I was about sixteen years old and that was it. [Laughs]"

Ian McDonald is survived by his son Maxwell McDonald.

LZZY HALE And JOHN 5 Guest On RAY WYLIE HUBBARD's New Single 'Naturally Wild' (Video)

LZZY HALE And JOHN 5 Guest On RAY WYLIE HUBBARD's New Single 'Naturally Wild' (Video)

HALESTORM's Lzzy Hale and ROB ZOMBIE guitarist John 5 are the featured guests on "Naturally Wild", the new single from acclaimed singer/songwriter Ray Wylie Hubbard. The track will appear on Hubbard's upcoming album, "Co-Starring Too", due on March 18 via Nashville label Big Machine Records. The LP will include another song called "Ride Or Die", featuring guest appearances by Ringo Starr, Steve Lukather and Ann Wilson.

When "Naturally Wild" was first released on Friday (February 11), Lzzy tweeted: "Thank you so much to @raywylie for featuring me on his new song 'Naturally Wild' along with my friend @john5guitarist". Hubbard shared her tweet and wrote: "having a full tilt bad ass rock and roll goddess add her incredible voice to my song is down right Steve McQueen jumping the fence in the Great Escape..and James Coburn's knife throw in the Magnificent Seven cool. thanks, Lizzy. I am forever in your debt."

With an innate knack for transforming commonplace into profound, Hubbard has created nuanced and naughty over the last five decades. His talents often escaping a siloed mainstream lens, those who are in the know relish in the Oklahoma-born, Texas-dwelling renegade poet.

"Ray Wylie Hubbard is a forefather of American rock 'n' roll, blues and country music who is as relevant today as ever," Big Machine Label Group president/CEO/founder Scott Borchetta said back in 2020. "If you like your music delivered with heart, soul, snarl, attitude and guitars, then the new music from Ray Wylie Hubbard is for you."

Expanding on 2020's "Co-Starring" — the all-star project that included Don Was, Joe Walsh, Ringo Starr, Ronnie Dunn, Peter Rowan, Larkin Poe and Aaron Lee Tasjan, among others — Hubbard returns with another with a legion of misfits, both newcomers and icons alike. The Texas Heritage Songwriters' Hall Of Famer invites a musical cohort of Willie Nelson, Wade Bowen, Randy Rogers, CROSS CANADIAN RAGWEED founder Cody Canada, Hayes Carll, James McMurtry, Dalton Domino, Charlie Sexton, Gurf Morlix, Jaimee Harris, Wynonna Judd, Eliza Gilkyson, Lucas Hubbard, THE BLUEBONNETS, Kathy Valentine, Kevin Russell, THE SHINY SOUL SISTERS, THE LAST BANDOLEROS and THE BAND OF HEATHENS for another bar-setting album.

"All the twists of life have led me to some pretty interesting scenarios and people along the way. I've been just lucky enough to find inspiration in witnessing it all," says Hubbard. "I'm grateful for this new crop of tunes and hope those who've been with me on this journey find some they can groove with too."

Officially announcing the project with a series of eccentric teasers across his socials, "Co-Starring Too" also caught the attention of Americana radio garnering the most adds with "Hellbent For Leather", featuring Steve Earle, upon release.

ICE NINE KILLS Drops Animated Video For 'Take Your Pick' Feat. CANNIBAL CORPSE's CORPSEGRINDER

ICE NINE KILLS Drops Animated Video For 'Take Your Pick' Feat. CANNIBAL CORPSE's CORPSEGRINDER

The overlords of slashercore ICE NINE KILLS are celebrating the most romantic day of the year by delivering a special Valentine's treat to their fans in the form of a gore-filled animated music video for their track "Take Your Pick" featuring CANNIBAL CORPSE frontman George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher and inspired by infamous horror movie "My Bloody Valentine".

Speaking about the clip, ICE NINE KILLS frontman and creative visionary Spencer Charnas shares: "To pay tribute to one of the most vicious slashers of the 1980s, we knew we had to cook up a video and musical number with only two things in mind: brutality and poor taste. We are honored to have the legendary Corpsegrinder providing his signature vocal assault which will hopefully disembowel the listener. AMON AMARTH Teases New Single/Video 'Put Your Back Into The Oar'

AMON AMARTH Teases New Single/Video 'Put Your Back Into The Oar'

Sweden's celebrated Viking overlords and undisputed modern masters of epic heavy metal AMON AMARTH will release a new single and video, "Put Your Back Into The Oar", this Thursday, February 17. A teaser for the clip is available below.

AMON AMARTH will team up with MACHINE HEAD for the "Vikings And Lionhearts" co-headlining European arena tour in September and October.

AMON AMARTH's latest album, "Berserker", was released in May 2019 via Metal Blade Records. The disc was recorded at Sphere Studios in North Hollywood, California with producer Jay Ruston, who has previously worked with ANTHRAX, STEEL PANTHER, URIAH HEEP and STONE SOUR.

AMON AMARTH enlisted a session drummer, Tobias Gustafsson (VOMITORY, CUT UP), during the recording sessions for 2016's "Jomsviking", following the departure of longtime drummer Fredrik Andersson. The band tapped OCTOBER TIDE drummer Jocke Wallgren as Andersson's permanent replacement six years ago.

AMON AMARTH stands tall and unassailable: 30 years into a career that has seen them evolve from humble origins in the dark, dank rehearsal rooms of their native Tumba to their current status as explosive festival headliners and one of the metal world’s most widely adored bands.

Formed in 1992, AMON AMARTH became modern metal greats the hard way. Ruthlessly dedicated to creating new music and taking it out on the road, the Swedes steadily built a formidable reputation as a ferocious live band and, as the years passed, were increasingly recognized for their recorded achievements too. Since the dawn of the millennium, AMON AMARTH has been unstoppable.

Breakthrough releases like 2006's "With Oden On Our Side" and its now-legendary follow-up, 2008's "Twilight Of The Thunder God" further cemented their popularity throughout the metal world, while the band's stage show evolved with each successive tour, transforming into one of modern metal's truly great spectacles. "Berserker" brought with it an epic, history-making trek across North America with fellow Swedes ARCH ENEMY, AT THE GATES and GRAND MAGUS and saw multiple sell-outs.

VIO-LENCE Releases Official Music Video For 'Let The World Burn'

VIO-LENCE Releases Official Music Video For 'Let The World Burn'

San Francisco Bay Area thrashers VIO-LENCE have released the official music video for "Let The World Burn", the title track of their upcoming EP. The five-song collection, their first original release since 1993's "Nothing To Gain", will be available worldwide on March 4 via Metal Blade Records.

"Let The World Burn" marks the third video in VIO-LENCE's catalog, following "World In A World" (off 1990's "Oppressing The Masses") and the 2020 single "California Über Alles", a cover version of the DEAD KENNEDYS classic. The new video was directed by Robert Graves of Defiant Digital Productions.

Frontman Sean Killian states: "The memory of you will be forever forgotten when the extinction event arrives and fire becomes God. When the world burns and all is destroyed, all you know, all you believe will be forgotten forever. Let the world burn!"

Guitarist Phil Demmel adds: "I hadn't written a lot of thrash in the past 17 years or so, but being the main songwriter for the band over the years, I wanted that sound, I wanted that mid-'80s raw thing, but I also wanted to capture our signature notes and structures and stuff like that."

Filling out the band's ranks on "Let The World Burn" alongside Killian and Demmel are original drummer Perry Strickland, former OVERKILL guitarist Bobby Gustafson and former FEAR FACTORY bassist Christian Olde Wolbers.

"Let The World Burn" was recorded with Juan Urteaga at Trident Studios (TESTAMENT, MACHINE HEAD, EXODUS), with mixing handled by Tue Madsen (THE HAUNTED, MESHUGGAH) and Grammy Award-winning engineer Ted Jensen (ALICE IN CHAINS, DEFTONES, PANTERA).

Killian previously commented: "For 34 years, a creation called 'Eternal Nightmare' has been making memories for people around the world. Now, it is time to create some new memories in 2022. I am very proud of the new music we created, and we are fortunate to have worked with some very creative people. Nothing too polished here, unless fragments of glass and broken razor blades are what you consider polished. I love to create, and we hope your heads explode when you hear the new VIO-LENCE."

"Let The World Burn" track listing

01. Flesh From Bone

02. Screaming Always

03. Upon Their Cross

04. Gato Negro

05. Let the World Burn

In a recent interview with Mark Kadzielawa of 69 Faces Of Rock, Demmel stated about "Let The World Burn": "We had decided to write [some new material]. I didn't wanna do a full-length record. Ten tunes is just… I've got a baby at home. I've got a five-year-old who's just the highest of energies and exhausting. So my time is very valuable and I just don't have the time to write a full-length record. I just felt, let's take little baby steps with the band and see if we can write a couple of tunes — maybe do three or four. It ended up being a five-song EP."

Regarding the songwriting process for "Let The World Burn", Demmel said: "Man, in the 16 years that I was in [MACHINE HEAD], it had thrash moments, but towards the end, there wasn't. And I had written thrash songs. I always have riffs, but it was exciting to… Fuck, [I'm writing an] all-out thrash song. I wanted to capture some moments of 'Eternal Nightmare' [VIO-LENCE's 1988 debut album], and there are some signature VIO-LENCE sounds that I wanted to perpetuate and continue. But also, since I've been playing thrash for a bit too, my right hand has gotten a lot stronger. I'm playing the best that I've ever played. And so I'm pushing the riffs. These aren't songs that you're picking up at Guitar Center and just playing in Guitar Center; they're pretty hard to play. I wanted to push everybody in that sense."

He continued: "I needed [Perry] to be able to accept this material in a language that I could speak with him. And I had to teach him how to understand my language. And it was hard. And it was grueling. It was me and him in a room… Mostly, this record musically was written… I wrote the music but with Perry for… 99 percent of it was just me and him in a room fucking hammering it out. So I'm super proud of him for what he played on the record. It's some of his best playing. It's definitely my best playing that's ever been recorded. Towards the end of my time in [MACHINE HEAD], I wasn't tracking rhythms, so it'd been a long time since I really tracked a metal record. I did a BPMD record and tracked those, but fuck, this is a thrash record, so tracking the rhythms was something refreshing and super cool to me. We did it with Juan Urteaga in his spot, and he's awesome to work with. I had a great time. It was just a great experience recording with Perry. And I kind of let Sean do his own thing 'cause he had his vocals down. Sean is just destroying it on these songs, man; his voice is so unique. And nobody sounds like him. It's sinister, man. 'Cause he had a real high register that he was singing in back in '88, and there's moments of that, really, now. But it's dark, man — he's singing dark. And I fucking love it. I love his lyrics. He's the favorite lyricist that I've ever worked with. He's smart and he's witty and he's colorful with what he does. I thoroughly enjoy his lyrics."

VIO-LENCE released three studio albums between 1988 and 1993. The group reunited soon after Demmel left MACHINE HEAD in late 2018.

The band performed its first comeback concert in April 2019 at the Oakland Metro in Oakland, California and spent most of the ensuing months playing select shows in the U.S. and Europe.

Although MACHINE HEAD frontman Robb Flynn was part of VIO-LENCE's classic incarnation and played on the band's debut album, "Eternal Nightmare", he wasn't approached about taking part in any of the comeback shows.

Killian underwent a successful liver transplant surgery in March 2018. The year before, Killian was diagnosed with stage four liver cirrhosis, which was caused in part by a genetic condition called hemochromatosis.

VIO-LENCE's last album, "Nothing To Gain", was recorded in August 1990, but wasn't released until 1993.

New URIAH HEEP Album Has Been Mixed

New URIAH HEEP Album Has Been Mixed

In a new interview with Danny Stoakes, URIAH HEEP guitarist Mick Box spoke about the progress of the recording sessions for the legendary progressive rockers' 26th album. "We've just finished recording it," he said. "We just okayed all the mixes from [producer] Jay Ruston. He did [2018's] 'Living The Dream'. He's been doing it. And he's out in L.A. so he's been sending the stuff. I just sent around a load of titles for everyone to pull one out of the bag… And then we've gotta do the artwork, of course. Once the title's been delivered, the artwork has gotta come with that, and then all the credits and everything else and lyrics and all that stuff. So that takes a bit of time. Plus with everything that's happened, and we will release it on vinyl, I think there's a seven-month run-up before you can get anything — simply because of the state that COVID has left the business in. The bottom line is once we've delivered all that, we give it to the record company and they are the people that really decide [when to put it out]. We have no input whatsoever. Because it's a business — they'll find the right time for them to benefit."

Asked if URIAH HEEP will play any new songs on tour even before the upcoming album is released, Box said: "We'd not be allowed to by the record company, as much as we would be tempted. In today's market, let's put it this way, if we play a [new] song on stage, before I've got the jeans off and showered and poured a drink, it's recorded and up on YouTube and Facebook and everything else… So it's highly unlikely — for those reasons. I mean, for us, we'd play them all. But sometimes your hands are tied for a reason. And the record company, they come in and allow us to go in and record and do that, so you have to play ball with them."

"Living The Dream" was released in September 2018 via Frontiers Music Srl. The LP was helmed by Ruston, who has previously worked with ANTHRAX, STONE SOUR and STEEL PANTHER, among others.

Box is the original guitarist and sole remaining founding member of URIAH HEEP. He, vocalist Bernie Shaw and keyboardist/vocalist Phil Lanzon have formed the nucleus of the band for more than 35 years and released 17 albums together.

URIAH HEEP debuted in 1970 with the release of one of hard rock's milestones, "Very 'Eavy, Very 'Umble", and has since sold in excess of 40 million albums worldwide. They constantly tour the world, playing up to 125 shows a year to more than 500,000 fans. The band's live set features the classic tracks from the '70s and is a musical journey from the band's beginnings to the present day.

URIAH HEEP is:

Mick Box - Lead Guitar/Vocals

Phil Lanzon - Keyboards/Vocals

Bernie Shaw - Lead Vocals

Dave Rimmer - Bass Guitar/Vocals

Russell Gilbrook - Drums, Percussion

ANVIL's New Album Is 'Mixed And Done'

ANVIL's New Album Is 'Mixed And Done'

ANVIL guitarist/vocalist Steve "Lips" Kudlow spoke to Canada's The Metal Voice about the band's upcoming follow-up to 2020's "Legal At Last" LP. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "The new album is completed and mixed and done. What can I say? I can't wait till it comes out.

"The whole thing is a bit weird and odd because we put out an album and then never got to tour for it," he continued, referencing the aforementioned "Legal At Last". "So it's, like, where is the tour for the last album already? So, what is the last album, just spinning our wheels? What was that? What happened? Now I'm in a position where I'm putting out another album, and I'm gonna have to actually try to push both albums. It's, like, I don't know. I've never been in a position like that."

Lips added: "And then at the same time, while all this is going on, I got back from [recording in] Germany, of course, in October and have been writing songs since I got back. Because, of course, the last song I wrote was before I left — months before — so I had months of time off, not doing anything. So we started back in on it. We're at [song] number 10 already — for the next album."

"Legal At Last" came out in February 2020 via AFM Records.

ANVIL, a Toronto-based group, was formed in 1978 by childhood friends, Kudlow and drummer Robb Reiner. Both came from Jewish families and had been playing music together since their teens. ANVIL is considered to have been an influence on many metal bands, including METALLICA, MEGADETH, SLAYER and ANTHRAX.

Though initially a four-piece band, ANVIL's current lineup includes Kudlow, Reiner and bassist Chris Robertson.

ANVIL gained popularity and new fans since the 2008 theatrical documentary, "Anvil: The Story Of Anvil", which is currently available on Netflix. Made by former ANVIL roadie, filmmaker Sacha Gervasi, it became a cult hit, described by the Chicago Tribune as "a sort of real-life version of 'This Is Spinal Tap' with more appealing characters and real emotions."

In a 2015 interview with the Chicago Tribune, Lips stated about ANVIL's longevity: "We learned a very early and very brutal lesson in our younger years — you don't let up, ever. You keep the tank full and you keep driving it. You don't stop. 'Cause stopping means that you're gonna slip. So we've been on this survival-terror mode to keep it going."

RUSH: 'Moving Pictures' 40th-Anniversary Expanded Reissues Due In April

RUSH: 'Moving Pictures' 40th-Anniversary Expanded Reissues Due In April

On April 15, UMe/Mercury and Anthem Records label groups continue the extensive RUSH 40th-anniversary album series with new, expanded editions of the band's groundbreaking 1981 release "Moving Pictures", embodying its well-deserved classic album status. "Moving Pictures - 40th Anniversary" will be available to fans in six distinct configurations, including the (1) Super Deluxe Edition, (2) three-CD Deluxe Edition, (3) five-LP Deluxe Edition, (4) one-LP Edition, (5), Digital Deluxe Edition, and (6) Dolby Atmos Digital Edition and can be pre-ordered here.

"Moving Pictures", RUSH's eighth studio album, was originally released on February 12, 1981, and its adventurous-yet-accessible music catapulted the forward-thinking Canadian band to even newer heights as it began navigating the demands of a new decade. The album's seven songs expertly blended RUSH's intrinsic prowess for channeling its progressive roots into radio-friendly arrangements, a template the band had mastered to a T all throughout its previous album, 1980's deservedly lauded "Permanent Waves". "Moving Pictures" was also the second of many RUSH recording sessions at Le Studio in Morin-Heights, Quebec, which was ultimately nicknamed the trio's own personal Abbey Road recording studio.

The album's lead-off track, "Tom Sawyer", became one of RUSH's most cherished FM favorites in addition to taking its rightful place as a perpetual concert staple for decades to come. Next, the band shifts into the multi-generational dreamscape of "Red Barchetta", which chronicles the thrills and chills of a high-stakes backroads car race. The instrumental barnburner "YYZ", lovingly named after the airport identification code for Toronto's Pearson International Airport, runs the gamut of the band's forever impressive progressive chops in under four minutes flat. Side A closes out with the observational luminescence of "Limelight", a timeless, if not prescient look at how introverted artists grapple with public demands while trying to maintain a personal level of earned privacy.

Side B commences with the expansive palette of "The Camera Eye", a multi-layered, ten-minute-long travelogue that takes a bird's eye view of the inherent hustle and bustle of New York City counterbalanced with the intense energy and deep-rooted history of London. "Witch Hunt" (subtitled as being "Part III of Fear") offers a grim view of prejudice and mob mentality, while the album wraps up with the angular, cutting-edge "Vital Signs", a propulsive track that clearly foreshadows a number of the more adventurous musical directions RUSH would undertake as the ever-shifting 1980s continued to unfold.

The Super Deluxe Edition includes three CDs, one Blu-ray Audio disc, and five high-quality 180-gram black vinyl LPs. The set encompasses the Abbey Road Mastering Studios 2015 remastered edition of the album for the first time on CD, along with two discs of previously unreleased and newly restored bonus live content newly mixed from the original analog live multi-tracks by RUSH's original producer, Terry Brown, featuring the band's complete, unreleased Toronto concert from Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, Ontario, on March 25, 1981 (designated here as "Live In YYZ 1981"). The fourth bonus disc is a Blu-ray Audio disc with the core album newly mixed from the original multi-tracks in Dolby Atmos (a RUSH catalog first!), Dolby TrueHD 5.1, and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound as done by noted producer/engineer Richard Chycki, alongside the previously available PCM Stereo mix. Also included on the Blu-ray are four bonus videos: a brand-new video for "YYZ" plus three remastered vintage promo videos for "Tom Sawyer", "Limelight" and "Vital Signs". Additionally, all of the vinyl in the Super Deluxe Edition has been cut via half-speed Direct to Metal Mastering (DMM) (another RUSH catalog first!) on five 180-gram audiophile LPs.

The Super Deluxe Edition of "Moving Pictures - 40th Anniversary" will also include several exclusive items, including a 44-page hardcover book with unreleased photos and new artwork by original album designer Hugh Syme, along with new illustrations for each song; extensive liner notes by Kim Thayil (guitarist, SOUNDGARDEN), Les Claypool (bassist/vocalist, PRIMUS), Taylor Hawkins (drummer, FOO FIGHTERS), Bill Kelliher (guitarist, MASTODON), and Neil Sanderson (drummer, THREE DAYS GRACE); a Red Barchetta model car mounted on a black perch with an MP40 nameplate; two Neil Peart signature MP40 branded drumsticks; two metal-embossed guitar picks, one each with Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson's respective signatures engraved on them; a replica of the "Moving Pictures" 1981 official tour program; an MP40 logo enamel pin; a 3D lenticular "Moving Pictures in motion" lithograph; an 18×24-inch Toronto 1981 concert poster; a replica concert ticket from the 1981 Maple Leaf Gardens show; a 12×36-inch Rush Through The Years 1973-1981 poster; a YYZ luggage tag; and a All Access World Tour '81 insert. All contents are housed in a premium lift-top box, which features movingly reimagined cover artwork by Hugh Syme.

The second configuration of "Moving Pictures - 40th Anniversary" will be released in a three-CD Deluxe Edition digipak that includes the newly remastered original album on CD 1 and the entire, unreleased 1981 Toronto concert on CDs 2 and 3. Extras include a 24-page booklet with unreleased photos and reimagined artwork by Syme, along with the aforementioned liner notes by Thayil, Claypool, Hawkins, Kelliher and Sanderson.

The third "Moving Pictures" configuration will be offered as a five-LP Deluxe Edition, all of it housed in a slipcase including a single-pocket jacket for the remastered original "Moving Pictures" on LP 1, and two gatefold jackets for LPs 2-5 that comprise all 19 tracks from the complete, unreleased "Live In YYZ" 1981 concert. As noted above, all vinyl has been cut for the first time ever via half-speed Direct to Metal Mastering (DMM) on 180-gram black audiophile vinyl. Extras include a 24-page booklet with unreleased photos, Syme's reimagined artwork and new illustrations, and the complete liner notes.

The fourth configuration is a one-LP eCommerce exclusive edition, featuring the first-ever half-speed DMM vinyl pressing. It comes newly wrapped in a limited-edition premium tip-on style gatefold jacket with printed sleeve, and each pressing comes with one of six randomly inserted Neil Peart hand-drawn lyrics sheets.

The fifth configuration, the Deluxe Digital Edition, features the original album and all 19 bonus live performances from Toronto, and is the digital equivalent to the three-CD Deluxe Edition.

Finally, the sixth configuration, the Dolby Atmos Digital Edition, is the digital equivalent of Richard Chycki's masterful Atmos mix of all seven tracks from the original album.

RUSH — bassist/keyboardist/vocalist Geddy Lee, guitarist/vocalist Alex Lifeson, and drummer/lyricist Neil Peart — maintains a large and uniquely passionate worldwide fanbase that acknowledges and respects the band's singular, bold, and perpetually exploratory songcraft that combines sterling musicianship, complex compositions, and distinctive lyrical flair. RUSH has sold more than 25 million albums in the U.S. alone, with worldwide sales estimated at 45 million (and counting), and has been awarded 24 gold, 14 platinum, and three multi-platinum album distinctions. RUSH has received seven Grammy nominations, and the band was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall Of Fame in 1994 and the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2013.

SVARTSOT Release New Single "Drømte Mig En Drøm"

SVARTSOT Release New Single "Drømte Mig En Drøm"

Although it has been quite a while since Svartsot have released new material, the band is still very much alive and kicking. In the interim since 2015’s Vældet, the beer-soaked folk metallers have been active on the live scene in Denmark and abroad, including appearances at various major festivals as well as at the prestigious 70000 Tons Of Metal cruise in 2019. After a change of bassist and the decision to shelve an album’s worth of material in 2017/18, the idea of releasing a collection of traditional folk songs that have inspired the band, reworked in Svartsot’s characteristic style, was spawned.

The original idea was to release their fifth album, entitled Kumbl” (an old Danish word meaning 'monument' or 'memorial'), in 2020 to coincide with Svartsot’s 15th anniversary. However, due to various practicalities, the album was first recorded — by none other than the band’s drummer and up-and-coming producer, Frederik Uglebjerg, during the pandemic. The release also marks the band’s first collaboration with Danish metal label, Mighty Music.

Check out the first single from the record,  "Drømte Mig En Drøm", below.

Kumbl features 12 tracks that present a mixture of some relatively unknown and other more popular folk and late medieval songs from Denmark and across Northern Europe. Two songs feature guest vocal appearances by Andrea Uglebjerg, vocalist in the Danish punk band Situationsfornærmelse and sister of aforementioned Frederik. Three singles will be released: "Liden Kirsten" is a traditional Danish folk ballad telling the tale of how a king decided to make the lady of his desires the mother of his children and his queen without telling her first; "Carmen Vernale" is a song from around 1500, written by Morten Børup, cantor at Aarhus Cathedral, praising the arrival of spring and performed in the original Latin — the melody is played each hour by the bells of Aarhus Townhall; "Drømte Mig En Drøm" is an elaboration on the oldest recorded Danish song, being handed down in a runic manuscript from ca. 1300. A music video will be released for "Liden Kirsten", while a lyric video version of "Drømte Mig En Drøm" will also be available.

Kumbl will be released in CD, LP (two different colours, each limited to 300 units) and digital formats via Mighty Music on February 25th, 2022.

The tracklist is as follows:

"Den Hoboeken Dans"
"Nu Stander Landen I Våde"
"Carmen Vernale"
"Ebbe Skammelsøn"
"Kragevisen"
"Villemand"
"Liden Kirsten"
"Rottefængeren"
"Den Store Stygge Stimand"
"Drømte Mig En Drøm"
"Ramun"
"De To Ravne"

Line-up:

Simon Buje: bass
Frederik Uglebjerg: drums
Michael Alm: rhythm guitars
Cris J.S. Frederiksen: lead guitars, acoustic guitars (studio), mandolin (studio)
Hans-Jørgen Martinus Vork Rosenwein: tin whistles, electric bagpipe, mandolin (live)

PINK FLOYD Release "Coming Back To Life" Video From Upcoming Restored & Re-Edited Edition Of P•U•L•S•E•

PINK FLOYD Release "Coming Back To Life" Video From Upcoming Restored & Re-Edited Edition Of P•U•L•S•E•

Warner Music for Europe and Sony Music for outside Europe have announced that Pink Floyd's P•U•L•S•E• Restored & Re-Edited, will be released for the first time on Blu-ray on February 18. You can now watch "Coming Back To Life" from the upcoming release below.

The P•U•L•S•E• concert film (helmed by esteemed director David Mallet) will be available as 2x Blu-ray and 2x DVD deluxe box sets, with the video footage having been expertly re-edited by Aubrey Powell/Hipgnosis from the original tape masters especially for The Later Years release in 2019. The cover design, originally created by Storm Thorgerson and Peter Curzon for the 2006 DVD release, has also been updated with photography by Aubrey Powell/Hipgnosis and Rupert Truman/StormStudios. The packaging artwork is designed by Peter Curzon from StormStudios, under the direction of Aubrey Powell/Hignosis.

This release also sees the reintroduction of the iconic pulsating light as per the original 1995 CD release, this time operated by two replaceable AA batteries. The deluxe packages include music videos, concert screen films, documentaries, Pulse Tour rehearsal footage and more, alongside a 60-page booklet.

P•U•L•S•E•, originally released as an album in 1995, was recorded on the European leg of the Division Bell tour and the DVD and Blu-ray packages include the whole live performance of The Dark Side Of The Moon – the only full live filmed recording of this seminal album. The concert, filmed on 20 October 1994 at Earls Court in London, saw Pink Floyd play some of their classic tracks as well as highlights from the recently released album The Division Bell. Standout tracks include "High Hopes", "Keep Talking", "Sorrow", "Wish You Were Here", "Comfortably Numb" and "The Great Gig In The Sky".

Nick Mason reflects on the original CD release and the pulsing LED light: "Essentially, it's a device which we thought was entertaining. It's an idea of Storm Thorgerson's which related to The Dark Side Of The Moon and the pulse, and it's a live album so the box is 'alive'. After that, in terms of seriously deep meanings, one might be struggling a bit".

You can pre-order P•U•L•S•E• Restored & Re-Edited here.

SLASH Featuring MYLES KENNEDY & THE CONSPIRATORS Perform New Album In Its Entirety; Live At Studios 60 Stream Available

SLASH Featuring MYLES KENNEDY & THE CONSPIRATORS Perform New Album In Its Entirety; Live At Studios 60 Stream Available

On Friday, February 11th Gibson celebrated the release of 4 by hosting Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators: Live At Studios 60 - a special, exclusive livestream performance of the album in its entirety, available only on Facebook and YouTube.

Watch the entire stream below:

Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators released their new album, entitled 4, on February 11 via Gibson Records / BMG. The band has released the second episode of a "making of" video series. Both parts one and two can be seen below:

4 is Slash’s fifth solo album and fourth overall with his band featuring Myles Kennedy (Vocals), Brent Fitz (Drums), Todd Kerns (Bass & Vocals) And Frank Sidoris (Guitar & Vocals).

A vibrant rock album fueled by memorable guitar hooks and compelling melodies, big choruses, and even bigger riffs; 4 builds on the legacy of Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators’ prior work. That sensibility comes through immediately on the opening track and first single, “The River Is Rising”. The group has unleashed “The River Is Rising” to radio. Watch the official video for “The River Is Rising”, shot on location in downtown Los Angeles with Gibson TV director Todd Harapiak, below.

Slash describes the creation of the song “The River Is Rising": “There’s two or three songs on the record that were written during the pandemic; everything else was written before. ‘The River Is Rising’ was one of the last songs I wrote before we started pre-production, and because it was so fresh and has a certain groove and energy to it, it was the first thing we really attacked. It’s the newest song on the record, and as for the double-time part, that was something that I came up with and tagged onto the end of the arrangement. Then when we were over at RCA, Dave Cobb suggested we do it right after the breakdown. So, we went straight into the fast part, and I just started doing the guitar solo over it. It was one of those things where we were jamming around, trying to fish out the arrangement, and it just happened.” While Myles Kennedy adds, “The lyric ultimately explores how humans can be brainwashed or indoctrinated by some sort of dangerous idea. Once we shot the demo back and forth a few times, I personally felt confident that we had the album opener. To me, it’s an important track.”

For 4, Slash and the band traveled across the country together to Nashville, TN, and recorded the new album at the historic RCA Studio A with producer Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, John Prine, Jason Isbell, Brandi Carlile), revealing a stunning new sound and style all captured live in the studio. Cobb shared the band’s desire to lay down the tracks live, in the studio including guitar solos and vocals - a first for the group. The band’s previous albums over the last decade Apocalyptic Love, World on Fire, and Living The Dream have continued on an upward trajectory, all achieving Top 5 Billboard charting debuts in the U.S. and reaching the Top 10 on 12 major charts across the globe. To date, the three SMKC albums have now garnered 10 consecutive Top 5 Radio singles, spawned sold-out world tours, and have earned Slash and the band the best critical acclaim of their career.

VANIR – “Day Of Reckoning” Lyric Video Released

VANIR – “Day Of Reckoning” Lyric Video Released

“Day Of Reckoning” is the new single and lyric video from the forthcoming sixth album by Viking melodic death metal band Vanir. “Day Of Reckoning” tells the tale of Hel and her most feared children Fenrir and Jormungandr. These creatures' fate is tragically bound to Ragnarok. For there will be a day where the judged and the hated will bring even Asgaard to its knees.

“Day Of Reckoning” is the second track to be released from Vanir's upcoming album Sagas, due March 11 via Mighty Music.

From the sagas of old, to the halls of Valhalla, and across bloody battlefields, Danish warriors Vanir are back and have put together, without compromise, an epic new album, showcasing a fascination with our common origins, and the blood spilled throughout history.

Written and recorded during the pandemic, mixed and mastered by Rune Stiassny (Iron Fire, Saturnus), Sagas is mostly themed around Nordic mythology, but also has a song dedicated to one of the most important fantasy writers in history - J.R.R. Tolkien - who was himself greatly inspired by Nordic mythology and Denmark. On the other hand, a song such as “Black Clad” is a double-edge sword; written as a tribute to the Norse god Brage, but also as a tribute to the fans of metal.

The fans that support the scene and who will be the backbone of the live shows in the post-pandemic world. Martin Rubini, Vanir’s vocalist, comments: “During the pandemic, the world of music was turned upside down. This album has been our anchor in the creative part of our lives, in a period where all our shows were cancelled and we still needed to be creative and do what we enjoy, playing metal. With Sagas, we continue the route we laid out with Aldar Rök and Allfather and the vision we have for Vanir.”

Such is the Vanir approach to themes in 2021 / 2022: melodic and fierce soundscapes, with lyrical strings tied to mythology and heathen paganism, but not ending there. Sagas' artwork portrays this with a mixture of various Norse mythical imagery. It is inspired by the idea of fate and the Norns, which are here interpreted as a singular being, displaying various aspects of fate, while intertwined in its threads. It shows an elegant, feminine and strong imagery.

The artwork, which can be seen below, was done by bassist Lars Bundvad. “For this album, I didn’t write any music,” he explains. “Having been sidelined due to the pandemic - my immune system is not terribly robust - I wanted to go the extra mile and push myself for the artwork. The Norn portraits a strong feminine character and a sage who holds both wisdom and power. And I’m very happy with the result”.

Sagas will be released on CD, LP (two different colours, each limited to 300 units) and digital formats via Mighty Music on March 11th, 2022.

NIGHTRAGE - "Dance Of Cerberus" Lyric Video Streaming

NIGHTRAGE - "Dance Of Cerberus" Lyric Video Streaming

Greek/Swedish melodic death metal stars, Nightrage, have released a lyric video for "Dance Of Cerberus", featured on their upcoming album, Abyss Rising, available in February. Watch the clip below.

"‘Dance Of Cerberus’ is a straight forward Nightrage signature style kind of song, that me and Magnus wrote and it has all these elements that characterize our sound. Heavy melodic riffs, sweet harmonies, and aggressive vocals. I love the intro with the super melodic harmonies and how that goes to a very heavy start for the song. The vocals on the chorus are super heavy and melodic at the same time, and they incorporate this new style, with clean vocals on the background, that makes the chorus very wide and open. Ronnie did a great job there with this nice blend of his heavy and clean vocals. This song is about us humans and our undying hunger and lust. And this eternal search for quick and easy pleasures make us crawl in our own filth just to get the next fix with no thought of the consequences." – Marios Iliopoulos (Guitarist)

An album that is the band's vision of mankind living in its own hell - a hell it has created through the destruction of the planet. Inspired in part by Dante's Inferno, the album explores man’s continual destruction of the world we live in until the abyss opens up to consume all before it.

The abyss has risen from the depths, and hell has now turned outside in to be able to rise to earth to claim us. The album captures Nightrage in a spectacular form; incisive, brutal, uncompromising, and unforgettable. Musically the band have embraced a harder, faster, and brutal approach, still rich in melodic intent but characteristically heavy and aggressive. Mixed and mastered by Fredrik Nordstrom at Studio Fredman (Architects, In Flames, Opeth, etc.), Abyss Rising is a formidable sonic masterpiece.

The album will be released on February 18 via Despotz Records. Pre-order here.
