Germany's IMPACT APPROVED To Unleash New Album In June; "Pigslaughter" Lyric Video Streaming

German melodic death metal maniacs, Impact Approved, unleash a face-melting lyric video for "Pigslaughter", a brutal banger off their upcoming album, Way Of The Warrior, dropping June 14th, 2024 via Wormholedeath.

"Pigslaughter" is an anthem for the disenfranchised, a sonic rebellion urging listeners to shed the shackles of conformity and embrace authenticity.

Born in 2019, Impact Approved quickly carved their niche in the melodic death metal scene. Philipp (vocals) and Uwe (guitars, drums) laid the groundwork, joined by Maurice (bass) in 2020 and Armin (guitar) shortly after. After the critically acclaimed release of Into The Fray in 2021, the band toured alongside heavyweights like Heaven Shall Burn in 2022. With the departure of Armin, Matthias "Matze", Büsing steped in to complete the live lineup, ready to unleash the fury of Way Of The Warrior on audiences worldwide.

COUNTLESS GOODBYES Release New Single / Video "Paralyzed"

COUNTLESS GOODBYES Release New Single / Video "Paralyzed"

Countless Goodbyes, the modern metal powerhouse from Pori, Finland, unveil their brand new single "Paralyzed". This powerful new track follows their recent singles "Room Without Walls" and "Hollow", further showcasing the band's dynamic energy and emotional depth through a seamless blend of modern metal and metalcore elements. Watch the accompanying music video for "Paralyzed" below.

"'Paralyzed' delves into the overwhelming feeling of losing control, reflected in the urge to run without direction. It explores the mental burden that has cornered you over time, leaving no clear escape. As your mind becomes paralyzed, you begin to act mechanically, with routine turning into a curse," vocalist Onni Kivikaarre explains.

The track was created in collaboration with an exceptional team, including mix and mastering by award-winning producer Henrik Udd, renowned for his work with Bring Me The Horizon and Architects, post-production by Joakim Karlsson of Bad Omens (US) and choir arrangements by Kat Marsh and Choir Noir, adding a profound depth to the track.

BRUCE DICKINSON Reflects On Classic Albums From AC/DC, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW And JUDAS PRIEST

BRUCE DICKINSON Reflects On Classic Albums From AC/DC, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW And JUDAS PRIEST

Qobuz has shared a new 12-minute video in which IRON MAIDEN singer Bruce Dickinson discusses some of his favorite classic rock and heavy metal albums. A few excerpts follow (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).

AC/DC - "Powerage" (1978)

Bruce: "It's AC/DC — what can I say? — with [singer] Bon Scott. And for me, I've gotta say I like what AC/DC are doing now with [current singer] Brian Johnson, with the latest albums. I like that more than 'Hells Bells' and definitely more than 'For Those About To Rock'. They've kind of taken back control of their sound and changed it slightly to suit Brian's voice. But the first years with Bon, up till the end of 'Highway To Hell' — wow. And that live album, 'If You Want Blood, You've Got It', God, that's just incredible. So, yeah, that lineup. And Bon was just a tragedy when that happened. It shouldn't have happened… Some of [the songs] are hard to sing, because Bon had a kind of interesting voice, but it was very, very flexible, his voice. And it was a strange mixture of styles in his voice, but there was some blues in there. He could do really good blues. One of my favorite AC/DC songs, it's called 'Ride On' and it's got this heartbreaking guitar solo. It sounds like he's like channeling Paul Kossoff from FREE in the guitar. I mean, it's great. I love that song."

BLACK SABBATH - "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" (1973):

Bruce: "I was a kid and got this album and I was still a virgin, which made me open it up and go, 'Oh, my God. Look at those women.' But what a great record. What a great album. What a great comeback album. But, yeah, the first two records are amazing. Well, no, I mean, 'Vol. 4' was incredible as well. What a consistent band. And it's Geezer [Butler, SABBATH bassist] and Tony [Iommi, SABBATH guitarist]. I mean, if you look at all the people, all the different vocalists, not just Ozzy [Osbourne], they've all been [great]. 'Born Again' [with Ian Gillan on vocals], great album. Everybody goes, 'Oh, forget that one.' No, it's a great album."

RAINBOW - "Rising" (1976)

Bruce: "For me, that was the record where I discovered Ronnie Dio on vocals. I was, like, "Who is that voice?' You know? And I was, like, 16 years old, and go, 'What the hell? That's [former DEEP PURPLE guitarist] Ritchie Blackmore.' And I didn't know that RAINBOW kind of existed. And it was on a little transistor radio in a garage. And I went, 'That sounds like Ritchie Blackmore.' And I waited till it finished. And the guy said, 'That was RAINBOW and 'Stargazer'. I went, 'Oh, my God.' It's one of the shortest albums ever made. It's like 35 minutes long, the whole album. But it's a classic. I'll take that over a 90-minute-long boring yawn fest. Six really incredible songs that changed the face of music. It really did. That was a game changer. And it gets not enough respect from people outside of the metal world. I loved [later RAINBOW singer] Graham Bonnet on 'Down To Earth'. I mean, 'Eyes Of The World' is one of my favorite RAINBOW songs, bar none. 'Lost In Hollywood', 'Eyes Of The World'. I mean, 'Since You Been Gone', yeah, okay. But 'Eyes Of The World', to me, is just… Oh, it's fantastic."

JUDAS PRIEST - "British Steel" (1980)

Bruce: "What can you say? That's one of their best covers. They had a very mixed… I found their covers confusing. I'm, like, "What is this?' Like 'Point Of Entry'. I was, like, 'What is this?' That one, you know what that is. That's obviously a metal record. It's already got an edge to it. It's got something to it. I actually really started getting into PRIEST when I toured with them. So I was quite a late… I mean, I knew who they were — 'Sad Wings Of Destiny', all that stuff — but I really started to understand what they were about when I toured with them with MAIDEN, and it was on the 'Screaming For Vengeance' tour. God, what a record that was. And then all the stuff before. I mean, Adrian [Smith, MAIDEN guitarist] was very into PRIEST, more so than me, but then when I saw them live, I was, like, 'Yeah, these guys are really cool.'"

In the video below, Bruce also discusses DEEP PURPLE's "In Rock" (1970),JETHRO TULL's "Aqualung" (1971) and QUEENSRŸCHE's "Operation: Mindcrime" (1988),among others.

After playing two warm-up shows at the Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, California, Dickinson officially kicked off his first solo tour in more than 20 years on April 15 at The Observatory in Santa Ana, California.

Joining the IRON MAIDEN singer on the trek is his current backing band, featuring Dave Moreno (drums),Mistheria (keyboards) and Tanya O'Callaghan (bass),alongside the group's latest additions, Swedish guitarist, songwriter and multi-platinum-credited producer Philip Näslund and Swiss session and touring guitarist Chris Declercq (who played on Dickinson's "Rain On The Graves" single). Bruce's longtime guitarist and collaborator Roy "Z" Ramirez is not part of the touring lineup.

Prior to the April 12 Whisky A Go Go show, Bruce last performed with his solo band on in August 2002 at the legendary Wacken Open Air festival in Germany.

Roy played guitar on Dickinson's 1994 album "Balls To Picasso" and went on to produce, co-write and perform multiple instruments on Bruce's subsequent three solo albums, "Accident At Birth" (1997),"The Chemical Wedding" (1998) and "Tyranny Of Souls" (2005).

O'Callaghan is an Irish musician who joined WHITESNAKE in 2021 and toured with the David Coverdale-fronted outfit the following year. She also hit the road with Dickinson last year as part of a performance of Jon Lord's "Concerto For Group And Orchestra" on nearly a dozen dates in Europe and South America.

Californian drummer Moreno previously played on "Tyranny Of Souls" and has worked with BODY COUNT, Jizzy Pearl, Dizzy Reed and Steve Stevens, among others.

Italian keyboard wizard Mistheria has collaborated with an array of artists live and in the studio, including Rob Rock, Mike Portnoy, Jeff Scott Soto and Joel Hoekstra.

Dickinson's latest solo album, "The Mandrake Project", arrived on March 1 via BMG.

Bruce and Roy recorded "The Mandrake Project" largely at Los Angeles's Doom Room, with Roy doubling up as both guitarist and bassist. The recording lineup for "The Mandrake Project" was rounded out by Mistheria and Moreno, both of whom also featured on Bruce's previous solo studio album, "Tyranny Of Souls", in 2005.

Dickinson made his recording debut with IRON MAIDEN on the "Number Of The Beast" album in 1982. He quit the band in 1993 in order to pursue his solo career and was replaced by Blaze Bayley, who had previously been the lead singer of the metal band WOLFSBANE. After releasing two traditional metal albums with former MAIDEN guitarist Adrian Smith, Dickinson rejoined the band in 1999 along with Smith.

CHARLIE BENANTE On His Original Score For 'John Wick' Pinball Games: 'I Watched The Movies And Then We Just Took It And Ran'

CHARLIE BENANTE On His Original Score For 'John Wick' Pinball Games: 'I Watched The Movies And Then We Just Took It And Ran'

Charlie Benante of ANTHRAX and PANTERA fame has composed the original score for Stern Pinball, Inc.'s newest line of pinball games featuring the world's greatest assassin, John Wick. Created in collaboration with Lionsgate, players will experience the thrilling and action-packed billion-dollar grossing John Wick franchise with film-inspired mechanical features and artwork alongside Stern's all-new dynamic AI combat system. John Wick pinball games are available in Pro, Premium, and Limited Edition (LE) models. The John Wick film franchise is produced by Thunder Road's Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee, along with franchise director Chad Stahelski through his 87Eleven Entertainment production company.

In a new video released by Stern, Benante stated about his involvement with John Wick pinball games (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I've been into pinball for a long time. Stern said, like, 'Let me know if you wanted to do something else.' John Wick was talked about, and I said, 'Yeah, I could do that. Let's work on that one.' At times it was challenging, because it was, like, 'How are we going to achieve this atmosphere, this sound?' So I watched the movies and then we just took it and ran. I played all the drums, guitar, some of the keyboards. When I was just playing it, the music was really nice and subtly placed and just makes you wanna play. It gets aggressive, so you get a bit aggressive when you're playing too, and I just thought it works really well with the game."

In Stern's John Wick pinball games, players step into the role of the world's greatest assassin as he fights to escape his past. As the titular character, players can engage in high-speed car chases and fast-action drifting across the playfield, which incorporates models and artwork inspired by iconic locations from the franchise, including the New York Continental Hotel and the Red Circle Club, all set against a dramatically edge lit New York City skyline. Players can also open John Wick's weapons crate to reveal a hidden shot target path to retrieve an array of weapons. Players must use the sculpted Blood Oath Marker carefully — or risk the consequences. Players need to survive other assassins, complete jobs for the legendary Factions of the High Table, and eventually take on John Wick's "Special Assignment!"

To raise the stakes, John Wick pinball introduces Stern's all-new dynamic AI combat system, an innovation that brings the frenetic combat of the legendary films to the game. The Stern team has created a primitive video game AI system to control the enemy lights on the playfield, setting the John Wick pinball games apart from prior pinball machines, where all lights were controlled by player actions, timers, and random number generations. In this new AI combat system, enemy icons are responsive to player behavior and will illuminate dynamically around the playfield to challenge the player. The enemies move tactically with this dynamic software to counter player objectives, creating a unique challenge in each game session. The system also features a new action video player that dynamically reflects player action — as you defeat three enemies, you'll see video clips of John Wick doing the same in the films!

Accompanying the high-quality film and audio assets woven into the gameplay, John Wick pinball games will include custom narration by critically acclaimed actor Ian McShane as Winston. Additionally, pieces of John Wick's iconic suits used in connection with the production of the films will be included as a franchise artifact in the LE models, courtesy of Lionsgate. The John Wick pinball games will feature original neo-noir style paintings illustrated by acclaimed artist Randy Martinez.

"Inspired by one of the most iconic and thrilling film franchises of our time, we're releasing John Wick pinball games with the most advanced technology we've ever created," said Seth Davis, president and CEO of Stern Pinball, "We can't wait for players to try out our new combat system and experience the action."

John Wick pinball games include Stern's award-winning Insider Connected system, which enables players to interact with the game and a global network of players in multiple ways. Through Insider Connected, players can track progress, earn new game-specific Achievements, take on special John Wick Quests and complete Faction Contracts to increase their Assassin ranking.

Insider Connected also provides an operator-focused toolset to drive location play through a better player experience, game location discovery, location leaderboards, performance analysis, automatic code updates, and remote diagnostics for easier maintenance. Registration for Insider Connected is available at insider.sternpinball.com/ or in the Insider Connected App. Download it today on iOS and Android.

Limited to 1,000 games globally, the highly collectible Limited Edition model includes the Expression Lighting System and Speaker Expression Lighting. These integrated lighting systems are synchronized to custom light shows specifically designed for every song and dynamically responsive to game events. The LE version also includes a full-color "Stained Glass" mirrored backglass, full-color reflective brushed silver foil high-definition cabinet decals with hand-drawn artwork by Randy Martinez, exclusive custom powder-coated pinball armor, a custom designer-autographed bottom arch, upgraded audio system, anti-reflection pinball playfield glass, shaker motor, a sequentially numbered plaque, and a signed Certificate of Authenticity.

HELLBUTCHER's Debut Album Unboxed; Video

HELLBUTCHER's Debut Album Unboxed; Video

As the frontman of legendary Swedish maniacs Nifelheim, Hellbutcher stands among the most elite figures of the black metal underground, and with his eponymous new band, Hellbutcher, his frenzied mission continues conjuring sounds of pure blasphemy and absolute musical Armageddon. Nothing less than total metal devastation will do.

Following the end of Nifelheim, who played their final show in late 2022, Hellbutcher wasted no time in forging forward. Teaming up with old compadres in evil, guitarists Necrophiliac and Iron Beast, bassist Eld, and drummer Devastator (ex-Nifelheim), Hellbutcher quickly set about bringing their new vision to life. Together, they had quickly amassed enough material to record their raging, hellish, self-titled debut album, set for release on May 31 through Metal Blade Records.

Watch an album unboxing video below:

Recording in various locations around Sweden, such as Devastator's own Red And Black Hall Drum Studio and Iron Beast's Chrome Studios, and producing and mastering everything themselves - "No need for an outside producer since we knew exactly how our band should sound" - it is a record that stands proud and unambiguous as a work or pure, metallic mayhem.

From the album's opener, the crazed "The Sword Of Wrath," Hellbutcher's intent is loud and clear: Channeling the spirit of Venom, Bathory, Iron Maiden, Exciter, Motörhead, Mercyful Fate, and the aggressive spirit of true heavy metal. It's an explosion of diabolic evil, performed relentlessly by true masters of the form.

With an enviable musical pedigree and a killer album to their name, Hellbutcher are certain to scorch a mark onto the black metal scene. The man himself believes this could be even more devastating than his previous output. "I believe this band has the potential to surpass Nifelheim; we've accomplished more in a year than I did in the last decade with Nifelheim," Hellbutcher states. "The key difference lies in the fact that this band shares a common goal. I am now filled with tremendous inspiration, and I plan to create new songs, records, and gigs at a completely different pace than before."

Insisting in so many words that posers should die, and promising that their live shows "will be a neck-breaking experience," the underground is about to be hit with an outbreak of evil unlike anything it has seen for a long time. Time to turn the cross upside down: Hellbutcher is here, and they mean evil business.

Hellbutcher will be released on May 31 digitally and in the following physical formats and special editions:

- "Metal" Vinyl (EU + US)
- Special Edition (EU - CD, DVD, Patch)

SUNBOMB Feat. MICHAEL SWEET And TRACII GUNS Release "Steel Hearts" Single And Lyric Video

SUNBOMB Feat. MICHAEL SWEET And TRACII GUNS Release "Steel Hearts" Single And Lyric Video

Sunbomb, the musical alliance between two steadfast warriors of the US hard rock/metal scene: Tracii Guns and Michael Sweet, have shared "Steel Hearts", the second single from their sophomore album Light Up The Sky, out June 28 via Frontiers Records Srl. The track is accompanied by a new lyric video.

About the track, Michael Sweet had this to share: "'Steel Hearts' is a song that has power and energy that showcases the past in the best of ways. It’s always an honor to work with Tracii and it’s always a privilege to be able to make music together. We’re excited about this project in this album and we hope you enjoy 'Steel Hearts'!"

Developed as a tribute to the classic heavy metal of the 80s, Sunbomb melds influences of classic metal bands such as Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Dio, and Judas Priest.

Tracii played all guitars and bass on Light Up The Sky with drums handled by Tracii's old L.A. Guns bandmate, Adam Hamilton. Light Up the Sky is a project created, overseen, and directed by Serafino Perugino, President and A&R director of Frontiers Records Srl.

Like its 2021 predecessor, Evil And Divine, the music here is once again very heavy and firmly planted in the 'metal' category, with a wink to a traditional approach to the genre. While Tracii wrote the music for the album, the fact that Michael Sweet has been writing in an increasingly heavier style on latter-era Stryper albums made him a perfect vocalist for the album.

Tracii first leaked the news of the Sunbomb project in a March 2019 tweet, where he described the band's approaching debut LP as "the metal record I would have made when I was 17 years old.” then, in May 2020, he mentioned on Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk that: "(Evil and Divine) is really kind of like [L.A. Guns' 2019 album] The Devil You Know times three. It's more on the heavy side of The Devil You Know album. And Michael Sweet, he's a really fantastic metal singer."

About Light Up The Sky, Michael had this to say: "I’m always humbled to be a part of a project like this. This album takes the Sunbomb vision to another level with killer songs and amazing energy. Tracii really delivered on the riffs and it made it very easy for me to come up with melodies that were fitting for each song. It’s different yet familiar at the same time in the best of ways. We’re very fortunate to be working with a label that still believes in the best music in the world - rock!"

JANE'S ADDICTION's Classic Lineup Reunites For First Concert In 14 Years

JANE'S ADDICTION's Classic Lineup Reunites For First Concert In 14 Years

Guitarist Dave Navarro rejoined his JANE'S ADDICTION bandmates Thursday night (May 23) during their intimate concert at London, England's Bush Hall.

Fan-filmed video of the show, which marked JANE'S ADDICTION'S first performance with its classic lineup in over 14 years, can be seen below.

JANE'S ADDICTION's setlist for the London gig included a new song called "Imminent Redemption". Navarro, singer Perry Farrell, drummer Stephen Perkins and bassist Eric Avery – who had left the band in 2010 but returned in 2022 — also played another new track, "True Love", which they had premiered last year. They also opened with "Kettle Whistle", marking JANE'S ADDICTION's first performance of the song with Navarro since 2001.

"True Love" was reportedly written by Farrell, Avery and Perkins, with assistance from touring guitarist Josh Klinghoffer.

Navarro sat out JANE'S ADDICTION's 2022 and 2023 shows due to his battle with long COVID. He was replaced at last year's gigs by Klinghoffer, a former member of RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS who also records with Eddie Vedder and performs with PEARL JAM. 2022 saw QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE's Troy Van Leeuwen step in for Navarro.

The fall 2022 "Spirit On Fire" tour marked the first JANE'S ADDICTION run of shows in more than a decade to feature returning Avery. Prior to that, Avery last played with the band for a short stint in the 2000s before departing again in 2010.

In the fall of 2022, Farrell told Alternative Press that it wasn't easy finding a temporary replacement for Navarro. "At first, there was a lot of weight on my shoulders," he said. "This was our return tour right after COVID, and we didn't have Dave. JANE'S is a unique band, and you can't just grab any guitar player and they'll pick it up. That's Dave Navarro we're talking about — those are big shoes to fill."

When it was first announced that Van Leeuwen would fill in for Navarro for the fall 2022 tour, Dave said in a statement: "He is a great guy and I am honored to have him help make this tour happen. Though I am saddened to not make this tour, I am focused on making a full recovery and rejoining the guys when I am able. I truly wish the band well on this tour and I am confident they will bring everything to make it a fabulous show! Go get 'em, guys!"

London, we’re playing a secret show at Bush Hall on the 23rd of May, ahead of our European tour. Limited tickets...

MICK MARS Admits He Never Read MÖTLEY CRÜE's Official Biography 'The Dirt'

MICK MARS Admits He Never Read MÖTLEY CRÜE's Official Biography 'The Dirt'

In a new interview with Matt Pinfield of 95.5 KLOS's "New & Approved" show, MÖTLEY CRÜE guitarist Mick Mars was asked about the first time he read the band's official biography, "The Dirt: Confessions Of The World's Most Notorious Rock Band". He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Well, I'll be honest. I didn't read it. [Laughs] I've still got, like, I don't know how many copies of the original one. I haven't really dug into it or anything. I probably will at some time, like when I'm 90 or something. [Laughs]"

"The Dirt" is the outrageous, legendary, no-holds-barred New York Times best-selling book by MÖTLEY CRÜE.

Fans have gotten glimpses into the band's crazy world of backstage scandals, celebrity love affairs, roller-coaster drug addictions, and immortal music in "The Dirt" since 2001 when the book first came out. The autobiography of Tommy Lee, Nikki Sixx, Vince Neil and Mick Mars features the full spectrum of sin and success, as well as a cautionary tale about the rock 'n' roll lifestyle.

In 2019, "The Dirt: Confessions Of The World's Most Notorious Rock Band" was made available in audiobook format from HarperAudio and Dey Street Books. The multi-voice edition was performed by Sebastian York, Roger Wayne, Fred Berman, MacLeod Andrews and Hillary Huber.

Sixx told Variety that MÖTLEY CRÜE "tossed around" the idea of narrating the audiobook themselves, but "it just didn't feel right for us," he said. He added that he and his bandmates pushed for an audiobook when "The Dirt" was first released, but in the pre-streaming audio era, there was small demand for such books on disc. "There wasn't a big enough audience to invest in it," he said. "But with technology advances, fan demand and now the movie, it was a great opportunity to release this now."

In a recent interview with Robert Cavuoto of Myglobalmind, Mars was asked if he plans to write an autobiography at some point. He responded: "I probably will, but probably — I've been saying this for the longest time — when I'm dying, so I can write it backwards. [Laughs] Is that silly? … It's cool. I like it. [Laughs] So if you wanna read it forward, you start at the back. I don't know. [Laughs]"

In 2021, Sixx released an autobiography called "The First 21: How I Became Nikki Sixx" in which he revealed family secrets and the origins of his drive to succeed. In that book, Sixx barely mentioned his MÖTLEY CRÜE bandmates Mars, Lee and Neil, who have been covered in his "The Heroin Diaries", "This Is Gonna Hurt" and the aforementioned "The Dirt".

The film version of "The Dirt" was released on Netflix in March 2019, along with an accompanying 18-song soundtrack, featuring a collection of CRÜE classics that meaningfully underscore significant moments that shape the film. The four members of the band also reunited in the studio to record four new songs for "The Dirt" soundtrack, including the single "The Dirt (Est. 1981) (feat. Machine Gun Kelly)" and CRÜE's unlikely cover of Madonna's "Like A Virgin".

Lee's autobiography, "Tommyland", was published in October 2004 by Atria Books. The 320-page book, which was originally rumored to have been titled "Ragz To Riches" (and later "Misunderstood" and "An Illustrated Man"),contained many details not included in "The Dirt: Confessions Of The World's Most Notorious Rock Band".

Neil's autobiography, "Tattoos & Tequila: To Hell And Back With One Of Rock's Most Notorious Frontmen", was released in 2010 and gave the singer gets a chance to tell his side of the story about CRÜE's rise to fame. In the book, which was written with Mike Sager, a former Washington Post reporter and contributing editor for Rolling Stone, Neil called out inconsistencies in portions of the other CRÜE books.

At the age of 27, Mars was diagnosed with the "horrifically debilitating" ankylosing spondylitis, a chronic and inflammatory form of arthritis that mainly affects the spine and pelvis. He opened up about his struggles in "The Dirt", writing that the pain "felt like someone was igniting fireworks in my bones." According to the Los Angeles Times, he underwent surgery in 2004 because of it and has dealt with a condition referred to as "bamboo spine" for years.

When Mars, a co-founding member of MÖTLEY CRÜE, announced his retirement from touring with the group in October 2022 as a result of worsening health issues, he maintained that he would remain a member of the band, with John 5 taking his place on the road. However, he filed a lawsuit against the band in April 2023, saying that, after his announcement, the rest of CRÜE tried to remove him as a significant stakeholder in the group's corporation and business holdings via a shareholders' meeting.

MÖTLEY CRÜE's attorney later described Mars's legal action as "unfortunate and completely off-base." He said Mars voted on and signed an agreement in 2008 in which he and every other bandmember agreed that "in no event shall any resigning shareholder be entitled to receive any monies attributable to live performances (i.e., tours)."

Mars — whose real name is Robert Alan Deal — served as MÖTLEY CRÜE's lead guitarist since the band's inception in 1981.

Mick's debut solo album, "The Other Side Of Mars", was released in February. The effort was made available via Mick's own label 1313, LLC, in partnership with MRI.

THE BLACK CROWES Want To Keep Their Music 'Honest And Pure'

THE BLACK CROWES Want To Keep Their Music 'Honest And Pure'

In a new interview with Pierre Robert of Philadelphia's 93.3 WMMR radio station, THE BLACK CROWES singer Chris Robinson and guitarist Rich Robinson spoke about the making of their latest album, "Happiness Bastards". The LP was recorded at producer Jay Joyce's Neon Cross Studio in East Nashville in summer 2023 after they spent most of the two previous years on the road celebrating the 30th anniversary of "Shake Your Money Maker", their 1990 quintuple-platinum debut. Asked how they managed to record "Happiness Bastards" in just two and a half weeks, Rich said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Plug in and play… We had most of the forms [of the songs], but it's a band. We go in, we play."

Chris added: "There was a lot of songs that we [said], 'Try it twice as fast.' 'Okay.' 'Try it without this part.' … We're not trying to make [PINK FLOYD's] 'Dark Side Of The Moon'. We don't need to be in there for six months. We're making a real visceral kind of music. We're making a real — hopefully — a soulful and emotional connection, spontaneous and alive.

"A lot of bands today, a lot of concerts you see, they don't even play through the amps anymore. It's all digital things through the P.A.s. And that's all cool. Whatever you have to do to get what you're hearing and what you wanna say, to me, is great for other people and whatever the audience wants. But for us, we are old school. We go in there. We play on the floor. We don't play on the grid. We don't have the click tracks. It's something different and something that no matter how much sort of trouble and strife we've created for ourselves or vice versa, the one thing, I think, that we've always liked about music is that authenticity. We're good if we keep it honest and pure like that."

When Pierre noted that a lot of artists make great records but "they're so polished and so fiddled with, for lack of a better word, that sometimes the rawness and the magic of the original tune can get lost," Rich concurred. "They make it on grid," he said. "The producer makes the record and someone will record the verse on drums, and then he'll grid it and then duplicate all the verses, and then the chorus. And it's playing video games instead of allowing the band to do what they do and to play and do their thing. I mean, that's ultimately what it's about. Let the band be the band."

Chris chimed in: "We're not clever enough either to do [that]. We want feeling — we want it to feel a certain way. I mean, honestly, I think that's what THE BLACK CROWES are. You hear the way we feel. And, by the way, growing up and rock and roll and life, if the way we felt was anger, then that's what you got. If the way we felt was frustration, then that's what you [got]. Of course, we're older and we have different tools available for us and different language available for us. And we have experience to be able to learn from, and hopefully that accumulates as some sort of wisdom. And I think you hear that. I think what Rich is saying, too, it's about craft. And I'm not interested in A.I., I'm not interested in algorithms. I'm interested in expression and I'm interested in, like I said before, authenticity."

THE BLACK CROWES' first full-length LP of new material in 15 years, "Happiness Bastards" arrived on March 15 released via the band's own record label, Silver Arrow Records.

"Happiness Bastards" contains 10 tracks, including a guest appearance by Lainey Wilson, a Grammy-nominated country singer and songwriter who rose to prominence after her music was featured on the television drama "Yellowstone". She was named the 2023 CMA Entertainer Of The Year.

THE BLACK CROWES released an acoustic collection called "Croweology" in 2010. An EP, "1972" — a collection of covers — arrived in May 2022.

Joining Chris and Rich in THE BLACK CROWES' most recent touring lineup were returning bassist Sven Pipien, who played with the band live from 1997 up until the band's hiatus in 2015, along with Brian Griffin on drums, Joel Robinow on keyboards and Isaiah Mitchell on guitar.

In celebration of the culmination of their 2021-22 reunion tour, THE BLACK CROWES released "The Black Crowes: Shake Your Money Maker Live", an ode to the band reuniting and following an epic two-year anniversary tour with over 100 dates worldwide.

A deluxe reissue of "The Southern Harmony And Musical Companion" arrived on December 1, 2023. The set included previously unreleased studio recordings, rare B-sides and a live performance from 1993 at Houston's Sam Houston Coliseum.

THE BLACK CROWES' debut album, 1990's "Shake Your Money Maker", was re-released in multi-formats sets in February 2021 through UMe/American Recordings. The album, fueled by singles "Jealous Again", "Twice As Hard", "She Talks To Angels" and a cover of fellow Georgian Otis Redding's "Hard To Handle", has sold over five million copies.

Watch: Ex-SKID ROW Singer ERIK GRÖNWALL Joins EUROPE For 'Cherokee' Performance In Stockholm

Watch: Ex-SKID ROW Singer ERIK GRÖNWALL Joins EUROPE For 'Cherokee' Performance In Stockholm

Former SKID ROW singer Erik Grönwall joined veteran Swedish hard rockers EUROPE on stage earlier tonight (Thursday, May 23) at Gröna Lund in Stockholm, Sweden to perform the latter band's song "Cherokee". Fan-filmed video of his appearance can be seen below.

Grönwall took to his social media to share a few photos from Gröna Lund, and he included the following message: "Thank you @officialeuropetheband for having me. It was an honor sharing the stage with you for a few seconds! And what an incredible show you guys did on your home turf."

This past March, Grönwall — who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in March 2021 — announced his departure from SKID ROW. He said at the time that he decided that the travel and rigors of the road were not conducive to his overall health and recovery, and he wanted to focus on a lifestyle that is more amenable for his well-being, healing and family.

SKID ROW's longtime friend Lzzy Hale (HALESTORM) handled lead vocals for two of the band's concerts last weekend.

The SKID ROW members said in a statement that they are "proud of what they have created and accomplished with Erik over the past two years" and "wish nothing but the best to him and his health. To celebrate the last two years, the band will be releasing a live album that perfectly captures this moment of time in the band's 35-plus-year history, to be announced soon."

Grönwall, who was a member of the Swedish hard rock band H.E.A.T. for nearly a decade before exiting the group in October 2020, announced in September 2021 that he was cancer free after receiving a bone marrow transplant one month earlier.

Grönwall sang on four H.E.A.T. studio albums — "Address The Nation" (2012),"Tearing Down The Walls" (2014),"Into The Great Unknown" (2017) and "H.E.A.T II" (2020).

In September 2021, just four months before he joined SKID ROW, Grönwall released his new cover version of "18 And Life" via all streaming platforms.

In 2018, Grönwall debuted in the U.S. for 10 million viewers in NBC's live broadcast of Andrew Lloyd Webber's and Tim Rice's musical "Jesus Christ Superstar". Along with John Legend, Alice Cooper, Sara Bareilles and others, Erik played the key role of Simon Zealotes.

In January 2022, Grönwall told Headbangers Lifestyle about beating cancer: "Some anonymous wonderful human being somewhere in the world donated his/her blood cells so that I could get a second chance at life. Sometimes I can just get tears in my eyes when I think about it. It's so beautiful that one person who is not connected to me in any way wanted to do that for me. He/she doesn't know that the blood cells were for me. It's completely anonymous."

In late March 2022, SKID ROW released its first single with Grönwall, "The Gang's All Here". The song is the title track of the band's latest album, which arrived in October 2022 via earMUSIC.

SKID ROW played its first show with Grönwall on March 26, 2022 at Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada as the support act on the rescheduled dates for SCORPIONS' "Sin City Nights" residency.

Thank you @officialeuropetheband for having me. It was an honor sharing the stage with you for a few seconds! And what an incredible show you guys did on your home turf.

Doom Metal Legends PENTAGRAM To Release New Studio Album

Doom Metal Legends PENTAGRAM To Release New Studio Album

Stoner and doom metal powerhouse Heavy Psych Sounds Records has announced the signing of U.S. pioneers of doom metal PENTAGRAM. The deal will include the release of a long-anticipated new studio album, as well as the reissue of PENTAGRAM's "Sub-Basement" and "Review Your Choices" LPs.

About signing to Heavy Psych Sounds, PENTAGRAM frontman Bobby Liebling says: "PENTAGRAM was conceived 53 years ago! We've seen many ups and downs, and if the decades have given us anything, it's wisdom.

"We know our new studio album is the best one we've ever written. We also realize that we need the perfect partner who not only understands the music but also knows the importance of packaging and presentation.

"After a meticulous search for the right record label, we are proud to announce that PENTAGRAM has signed with Heavy Psych Sounds! They are fans first, musicians themselves and believe in the music as much as we do!

"On the topic of our best albums, Heavy Psych Sounds will also reissue my favorite PENTAGRAM album to date, 'Sub-Basement', and its companion, 'Review Your Choices'. These two sorely overlooked albums will finally get the packaging and distribution they deserve. Joe Hasselvander did an incredible job on the instrumentation of these albums and co-wrote some of our thickest and most demented material. No longer will these records be passed by and overlooked! They stand tall next to any album perceived as 'heavy' back in 1999/2000."

The Heavy Psych Sounds Records team adds: "Here at Heavy Psych Sounds Records, we are all so stoked and excited and still can't believe that we are going to work with such an incredible band. A band who laid the groundwork for the doom and metal scenes, a band that put its indelible mark on the history of this genre. We hope to have a long and fruitful bond and work diligently together for years to come.

"It is with immense pride and excitement that we will soon reissue two great albums from the past and a brand new one.

"Together with the band signing, we are offering a choice of brand new merchandise ready to go from our online shop.

"It was a pleasure work with PENTAGRAM management to make this joint venture a success."

Liebling was the focus of "Last Days Here", the critically acclaimed 2011 documentary that detailed his lifelong struggle with drug addiction and followed him as he revived PENTAGRAM in his 50s while emerging from his parents' basement to start afresh with a wife less than half his age and their newborn son.

Back in 2017, PENTAGRAM guitarist Victor Griffin, bassist Greg Turley and drummer "Minnesota Pete" Campbell completed a tour without Liebling after Bobby was arrested for one count of assault on a vulnerable adult. He was later sentenced to 18 months in the Montgomery County Detention Center, minus time served. Although it was not publicly disclosed, the victim was believed to be Liebling's mother, who was 87 years of age at the time of Bobby's arrest.

In a 2015 interview with Classic Rock magazine, Liebling was asked if he ever worried about revealing so much of himself to the world in "Last Days Here". He said: "Not at all. I am what I am. I'm nuts sometimes. I saw that movie 10 times. Without European distribution, it won 45 awards. It feels surreal to me, like, 'What's wrong with this picture?' y'know? I'm just a dope fiend crackhead being 'Beavis And Butt-head' with my band."

Watch: TONY IOMMI And TONY MARTIN Discuss BLACK SABBATH's 'Forbidden' Album Ahead Of 'Anno Domini' Release

Watch: TONY IOMMI And TONY MARTIN Discuss BLACK SABBATH's 'Forbidden' Album Ahead Of 'Anno Domini' Release

A new video of Tony Martin and Tony Iommi discussing the BLACK SABBATH album "Forbidden" can be seen below.

"Forbidden" is included in the "Anno Domini 1989-1995" box set of the Martin-era BLACK SABBATH recordings, which will be made available on on May 31 via Rhino.

BLACK SABBATH's history with singers Ozzy Osbourne and Ronnie James Dio has been chronicled extensively through the years in multiple collections. Until now, no boxed set has focused on BLACK SABBATH's time with Martin, the band's second-longest-serving singer.

Rhino explores this prolific period from the godfathers of heavy metal in a new collection that brings four albums back into print after an extended absence. "Anno Domini 1989-1995" will be released in four-LP and four-CD configurations. The set contains newly remastered versions of "Headless Cross" (1989),"Tyr" (1990) and "Cross Purposes" (1994),plus a new version of "Forbidden" (1995) that guitarist Tony Iommi remixed specially for the collection.

Several albums make their vinyl debut in the LP version of "Anno Domini", while the CD version contains three exclusive bonus tracks: the B-side "Cloak & Dagger" and the Japan-only releases "What's The Use" and "Loser Gets It All". A booklet comes with the set featuring photos, artwork, and liner notes by Hugh Gilmour. The collection also contains a "Headless Cross" poster and a replica concert book from the "Headless Cross" tour.

"Anno Domini" picks up BLACK SABBATH's story in 1989, two decades and multiple lineup changes into the band's groundbreaking career as metal originators. At the time, membership had solidified around riffmaster and founding member Tony Iommi, legendary drummer Cozy Powell (JEFF BECK, RAINBOW, WHITESNAKE),singer Tony Martin, and longtime BLACK SABBATH collaborator and keyboardist Geoff Nicholls (QUARTZ, BANDY LEGS).

The group originally released "Headless Cross" in 1989 on I.R.S. Records, the first of four albums SABBATH recorded for the label. Praised by fans and critics alike, the band's 14th studio release produced three singles: "Devil And Daughter", "Call Of The Wild" and the title track. Bassist Neil Murray (WHITESNAKE, GARY MOORE) joined for the "Headless Cross" tour and stayed to record SABBATH's next album, 1990's "Tyr". Named for the Norse god of war, the album explores similar mythological themes in songs like "The Battle Of Tyr" and "Valhalla". On "The Sabbath Stones", the band channels Old Testament fire and brimstone into a classic bruiser.

In 1992, following a successful world tour, this incarnation of BLACK SABBATH was put on hold when the band reunited temporarily with Ronnie James Dio. Two years later, Martin and Nicholls were back in the studio with Iommi to record 1994's "Cross Purposes". The band was completed with the addition of founding SABBATH bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bobby Rondinelli of RAINBOW.

The "Tyr"-era BLACK SABBATH lineup reunited in 1995 when Powell and Murray returned to record "Forbidden". It was the band's 18th studio album, and its last for nearly 20 years. (In 2013, Iommi, Osbourne and Butler released BLACK SABBATH's final studio album, "13".) "Forbidden", produced by Ernie C of BODY COUNT, the hard rock band fronted by rapper/actor/SABBATH fan Ice-T, who appears on the song "Illusion Of Power". Since its release, sonically improving the album has been one of Iommi's pet projects.

He explains: "I was never happy with the guitar sound, and Cozy was definitely never happy with the drum sound… So, I thought it would be nice to do it for him in a way." He adds, "I just felt that, without changing any of the songs, there was an opportunity to go back and bring out some of the sounds and make it more what people would expect SABBATH to sound like."

Included in the set:

* "Headless Cross", "Tyr" and "Cross Purposes" newly remastered
* "Forbidden" newly remixed by Tony Iommi
* 1989 "Headless Cross" tour replica concert book

In the summer of 2022, Martin told "The Rock And Metal Profs: The History And Philosophy Of Rock And Metal" podcast that "two record labels" were going to re-release the albums he recorded with SABBATH. "I don't know when, and I don't know what it's gonna look like," he said. "There was some suggestion a while back that we might be able to put extra tracks and stuff on it. I did offer, and I went to see Tony Iommi and offered some things. And then he said we can't use anything new 'cause nothing new can be released under the BLACK SABBATH name. It can only be stuff that's got the original four members on it.

"I'm expecting it to be a remixed version of whatever the original was; that's what I'm expecting," Tony added. "So I await as you do to find out. Let me know if you hear it first."

When the interviewer expressed hope that the box set will include some live recordings from the Martin era of SABBATH, either in audio or video format, Tony said: "I recorded the writing session with… Eddie Van Halen came over and helped us write one of the tracks [for 1994's 'Cross Purposes' album]. And I had an eight-track recorder at the time in the 1980s, and I used to take it everywhere, this thing. I've got all of the writing sessions and rehearsals recorded. So I sent [Iommi] this, and he went, 'Wow! That's fucking great.' And I said, 'Well, you're welcome to use it, if you wanna put that on.' So, I don't know… Maybe you'll get that on there."

Martin added: "It's great to hear Eddie play."

BLACK SABBATH released six albums with Martin on vocals: "The Eternal Idol" (1987),"Headless Cross" (1989),"Tyr" (1990),"Cross Purposes" (1994),"Cross Purposes Live" (1995) and "Forbidden" (1995). Eventually, Martin and his "Forbidden"-era bandmates were ousted when Iommi reunited with SABBATH's fellow original members.

In January 2022, Martin reflected on his time with SABBATH during an appearance on "The Ron Keel Podcast", saying: "It doesn't haunt me. It's not a bad thing. I've got a lot to be grateful for. SABBATH is the reason why you, and the world, knows about my voice. So there are things to be grateful for. It was hard work for me. I'm 12 years younger than the rest of the guys, so even just circle of friends was different — they're hanging out with Ian Gillan and Brian May, and my best friend is Dave down the road. So that was a gap. And also the experience — they were way ahead of me in experience, at least 12 years further up the road from me, and I never could quite catch them up; they will always have that much more experience than me. So that was hard work."

He continued: "When I first got the gig, it was actually 1986 that I was put on standby when they were with Glenn Hughes on the 'Seventh Star' album. And I don't know what the issues were, but something went wrong with Glenn and they put me on standby. That scared me to death, 'cause it's Glenn Hughes. I can't sing like Glenn Hughes; nobody can sing like Glenn Hughes. Only Glenn Hughes can sing like Glenn Hughes. So that was really scary. Then they got Ray Gillen in. Then he left — he left to join BLUE MURDER with John Sykes, so they called me again and said, 'You'd better come down to the studio and try this out.' And they gave me one song, which was 'The Shining' off 'Eternal Idol', and then two days later said, 'Okay. You've got the job. You've got a week to finish the album.' So right from the start it was scary — it was huge; suddenly being the frontman of BLACK SABBATH was just ridiculous. And yeah, the whole association with me and my voice lasted 11 years."

Seven years ago, Iommi told I Heart Guitar that "it's a shame" that "it took a lot for people to accept" Martin as SABBATH's vocalist. "It's taken all these years later for people to say, 'Oh blimey, that was a good band with good singing.' So it took a long time to get people to really realize how good it was."

In 2018, Iommi spent time in the studio remixing "Forbidden" for a future release. The LP, which features Martin, drummer Cozy Powell and bassist Neil Murray, is often regarded as SABBATH's worst studio recording.

In a 2012 interview with Über Röck, Martin said that he was "surprised" to see Iommi criticizing him in the guitarist's "Iron Man: My Journey Through Heaven And Hell With Black Sabbath" book (referring to the Martin period, especially the touring phase following the release of "Cross Purposes" in 1994, Iommi lambasted his former singer as "unprofessional" and having "no stage presence"). Martin said: "I mean, they never said anything to me. Surely, if you've got a problem, the first person you should say something to is the person that's in the band with you... It sounds like a really stupid thing to say, as they didn't say anything to my face — and, if that's the case, then more fool them for not saying anything, because, you know, we could have fixed it. I said to them, endlessly, that if there was anything they wanted changed, done differently, just to say and we could fix it, but clearly, they didn't, they hadn't got the guts to, obviously, and to write about it in a book afterwards seems a bit daft to me. I'm not bitter about it, but it is surprising... It seems a bit stupid to say that after the event."

THE ROLLING STONES Return To Voodoo Lounge For 30th Anniversary Editions

To mark the 30th anniversary of The Rolling Stones' Grammy-winning 1994 album, Voodoo Lounge, special editions in both physical and digital formats are being released this summer. The release includes four additional tracks which will be making their debut on streaming services

The new editions, available from July 12, celebrate a studio set that sold more than six million copies worldwide including Stones favourites "You Got Me Rocking", "Out Of Tears" and the UK top 20 single "Love Is Strong", and went on to win a Grammy Award for "Best Rock Album".

The 30th anniversary releases, which will be augmented with a merch range, are a 2LP red and yellow vinyl edition, and a separate 2LP red and yellow vinyl which adds a white vinyl 10” disc featuring the four bonus tracks. The quartet of songs available for the first time on streaming platforms comprises "I’m Gonna Drive", the original B-side of the "Out Of Tears" single, with a sterling slide guitar part by Ronnie Wood; the rollicking "So Young", which had its origins in the Some Girls sessions of 1978; "Jump On Top Of Me", the B-side of "You Got Me Rocking"; and "The Storm", another flipside that evoked the Stones' unbreakable bond with Chicago blues.
