SIX FOOT SIX Feat. Former FALCONER Frontman Announce Beggar’s Hill Album; First Single Streaming

Six Foot Six – the brainchild of former Falconer's frontman Kristoffer Göbel – will release the new album Beggar's Hill on December 8 via Scarlet Records. Preorder here. First single and video “Raise The Dead” featuring Snowy Shaw (King Diamond, Mercyful Fate) is streaming below.

Produced by Kristoffer Göbel and Christoffer Borg; mixed by Christoffer Borg; featuring Snowy Shaw as special guest on drums on all tracks; illustrated by Frode Hovde; Beggar's Hill will be released in the following formats:

-digipack CD
-gatefold LP (splatter red & black; black)
-digital

Pure anthemic heavy metal at its best: Beggar's Hill is the third Six Foot Six record and the most coherent of their works until this date.

Influenced by classic bands such as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Metallica, it's a guitar and vocal melody-driven album, but still with a powerful up-to-date sound.

The catchy songs take you on a melancholic journey through salt-beaten winding seaside cliffs, medieval battles, decrepitude and abandonment, cinematic glimpses and the general state of the world – a planet of war, love, pollution and wonders.

Tracklisting:

“Raise The Dead”
“Tears”
“Voices Inside”
“Beggar’s Hill”
“Analog Man”
“Riding The Tide”

Germany’s SARLIC BLISS Release “Departed Grace” Video

On November 2 the debut album of the German melodic doom / post-black / death metal band Sarlic Bliss will be released. A first taste of Brægn Hæft is now available with "Departed Grace".

The song is almost exemplary for the musical versatility of the band and contains besides quiet, melancholic and doomy sounds also a look at the harsh and aggressive side of the quintet. By the way, with a stately 7:38min "Departed Grace" is not even the longest track of the album, but stands out a bit due to the breathtaking guest appearance of singer Gogo Melone. The video was realized by Justin Morina and creatively blends the boundaries between story and lyric video.

Tracklisting:

"Darkest Desire"
"Lust"
"The Truth Within"
"Floatin Swefn"
"Invidia"
"Departed Grace" (feat. Gogo Melone)

THE VINTAGE CARAVAN Release Live Version Of "On The Run"; Static Video

Icelandic prog rock trio, The Vintage Caravan, have released one of their classics, “On The Run”, in live form. The band’s upcoming live album, The Monuments Tour (Live), is out this Friday, October 13 via Napalm Records, and its second single lures with an acoustic intro that builds up to a catchy melody in the chorus that drives deep inside the listener’s head.

After hitting stages at world famous festivals such as Roadburn, Wacken and Hellfest, touring with Opeth, and headlining across Europe and South America, The Vintage Caravan are now gearing up for the release of their very first live album. Next week the retro rockers will also kick off the second leg of their The Monuments Tour, giving Europe-based fans another opportunity to see their explosive live performance.

Listen to the live version of “On The Run” below:

With 13 diverse tracks taken from all throughout their discography, these youngbloods from Reykjavik take their fans on a psychedelic journey of bewitching, guitar-driven classic and blues rock influences. Starting off with the opener of their latest studio album, "Whispers" clearly showcases the band’s musical progression without sacrificing their tried-and-true sonic trademark. “Crystallized'' convinces with light blues influences, encircling the listener in enchanting guitar lines and quickly rising to the full extent of its power while evoking anecdotes of retro nostalgia. “On The Run” lures with an acoustic intro building up a catchy melody in the chorus that drives itself deep into the listener's head. Tracks like “Psychedelic Mushroom Man”, taken from their self-titled debut album released in 2011, represent a stunning blueprint in The Vintage Caravan’s musical universe with unconventional, skillfully created melodies and Óskar’s gripping, tranquil vocal power. In contrast, bold drumming merges with fast-paced riffs, enveloping an impressive galloping vortex like on the top-notch rock piece “Cocaine Sally” from their second album, while “Expand Your Mind” takes the listener on a splendid journey. The Icelanders close The Monuments Tour with the soft plugging, atmospheric sound of “Clarity” symbolizing the crowning culmination that showcases the full scope of their capabilities - delivering refreshing 70’s-inspired rock with a modern twist.

The Monuments Tour (Live) will be available in the following formats:

- 2LP Gatefold marbled vinyl Red
- Digital Album

Pre-order here.

The Monuments Tour (Live) tracklisting:

NICK D’VIRGILIO, NEAL MORSE & ROSS JENNINGS Release New Song "Tiny Little Fires"; Music Video

Three titans of progressive rock, Nick D’Virgilio (Big Big Train), Neal Morse (Transatlantic, NMB) & Ross Jennings (Haken, Novena) joined forces in 2021 for their Troika album, a record that saw them exploring their love of more acoustic-led music and three-part vocal harmonies. Recently, the band revealed that the follow-up, aptly titled Sophomore, will be released November 10.

Today, they have released the second track taken from the album, the Ross Jennings-penned "Tiny Little Fires". Watch the video below.

Ross comments: “The melody for 'Tiny Little Fires' came about as a result of messing around with my son's toy Xylophone. You never know when or where inspiration strikes but when it does, you just gotta harvest and harness it. And so with that Xylophone hook, along with the alternating time signatures, an entire song began unravelling and building in my head and at the first opportunity I demoed a full band version of the track. It came together extremely fast and the final recording with our three voices, along with Nick's live drums and Neal's additional Wakeman-esque keys, didn't differ too much from what I visualised that morning goofing around with my toddler!"

Sophomore will be available on Limited CD Edition (incl. 2 bonus tracks), Ltd Gatefold Transparent Red LP, Ltd Gatefold Transparent Blue LP & as Digital Album. Pre-order here.

Tracklisting:

"Hard To Be Easy"
"Linger At The Edge Of My Memory"
"Tiny Little Fires"
"Right Where You Should Be"
"The Weary One"
"Mama"
"I’m Not Afraid"
"Weighs Me Down"
"Walking On Water"
"Anywhere The Wind Blows"
"Right Where You Should Be" (Alternative Version)*
"The Weary One" (Alternative Version)*

* CD bonus tracks

"Anywhere The Wind Blows" video:

The three musicians began trading song ideas in late 2022, before choosing 10 of those to record in January 2023. “I think there was always a plan in the back of everybody's minds about doing a second one. We just got the conversation started and then started checking out some tunes. There were a lot of songs that were a little less fleshed out than with the first album, but once we got the ball rolling, it kind of went really fast”, says Nick D’Virgilio.

For the three members, this group serves as something different for all of them. Morse explains, “I've never been part of a group that was like this one. Most people know I'm a big CSN fan and I love Yes’s three-part harmonies and The Beatles as well. My dad was a choir director, so harmonies are in my blood! DMJ is a special group that is its own unique cup of tea and has such a nice flavor. Great blend. The main thing for me is to be working on good songs; it doesn't matter to me who writes them or necessarily that much about styles. If the songs are good, then I'm all about it.”

Jennings agrees, “I'm a huge fan of country and folk music, I love the three-part harmony style. As a vocalist known for progressive metal releases, prior to forming the band I could never have predicted that I'd be considered to be part of a group making music like this. It's still mind-blowing to me since I'd never officially recorded and released any music of this genre to prove that I can do it. Making these records with Nick and Neal has been such a pleasant and rewarding experience. It's funny how things work out sometimes!”

FUMING MOUTH Release New Single "I'll Find You"; Music Video Posted

With less than a month to go before the November 3 release of their new album, Last Day Of Sun, New England death dealers, Fuming Mouth, have unveiled the record’s second single, "I’ll Find You".

Commenting, vocalist/guitarist Mark Whelan says: “This is our first love song. It's about overcoming all the obstacles between you and the person you love. No matter how tired you are. No matter how lost they get. Find them."

Stream the track here, and watch the music video below:

"I’ll Find You" follows a theme of deep personal matters on Last Day Of Sun, as Whelan draws from his own recent experience overcoming leukemia last year and the new found perspective he gained along the way. Now cancer free, the beloved frontman returns rejuvenated with renewed determination and inspiration on the band’s most crucial and ferocious record yet.

Whelan says of the new record: “What started as a fictional concept album became incredibly real. I was facing certain death, but as I kept writing the album it’s theme became clear. You could die tomorrow. Seize the day.”

Pre-order Last Day Of Sun here.

Last Day Of Sun tracklisting:

"Out Of Time"
"Respect And Blasphemy"
"The Silence Beyond Life"
"The Sign Of Pain"
"Leaving Euphoria"
"I’ll Find You"
"Disgusterlude"
"Kill The Disease"
"Last Day Of Sun"
"R.I.P. (Rest In Piss)"
"Burial Practices"
"Postfigurement"

"The Silence Beyond Life" video:

A fiery, resurrected rage barrels its way out of hell’s erupting chasms with blistering fury; Fuming Mouth has returned. Lead singer, guitarist, and founder Mark Whelan emerges triumphant after a life-threatening battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, rekindling the inferno of their music with Fuming Mouth's second full-length album, Last Day Of Sun.

What initially began as a full-on, fictional concept album underwent a profound transformation into a concept-reality hybrid, largely influenced by Whelan's harrowing conflict with his health and anear brush with death. Just three weeks away from recording the album, Whelan was struck with a devastating cancer diagnosis. While bravely fighting the illness, he rewrote melodies, drum sections, and lyrics, infusing the music with his personal journey of struggle and hope.

The recording sessions began in October 2022, with Grammy Award winning Kurt Ballou of Converge at his studio, God City, inSalem, Massachusetts. Ballou reached out to Whelan after his battle with cancer and encouraged him to get back to their previously scheduled recording session.Working closely with Ballou in both engineering and production, the band found a wonderful and collaborative experience, as Ballou invested himself wholeheartedly in shaping their sound and vision. Salem itself also helped shape the album, as the Halloween Season had begun. Droves of tourists and residents mixing with people in costume made the streets of Salem seem like Last Day Of Sun had come to life. The city where the Witch Trials took place presented the perfect setting for the album to be recorded.

At the genesis of this record, there was no other artist that could have captured the album's essence better than Mariusz Lewandowski, with whom the band had already established a creative relationship through his work on the cover art of The Grand Descent. Tragically, Mariusz passed away while working on the album artwork, presenting the band with an immense obstacle to overcome. In tribute to his spirit and legacy, they joined forces with the talented artist Stefan Todorovic who crafted an evocative album cover depicting a Faustian city crumbling amidst the gray and sandy storms of the apocalypse. A colossal monster blocks the sun and hovers above the city as it burns, smoky buildings topple to the ground; all a visual representation of the chaos and darkness that permeates the album.

Fuming Mouth stands resilient, a testament to the indomitable human spirit. Amidst the carnage and depression lies a flicker of hope - a beacon of light that emanates from within. But as the last rays of the sun cast their shadow, the question remains. Will the people in Last Day Of Sun survive? Will their worst inhibitions play out, will they rip each other to shreds, will they give up? Will everything they’ve built have been for not? Will they find a way to overcome, or will their panic lead to failure?

Fuming Mouth is:

Mark Whelan - Guitar, Vocals
Andrew Budwey - Guitar
Pat Merson - Bass
James Davis - Drums

W.E.B. Release New Single And Music Video "Necrology Of Hel"; New EP Available This Month

Hailing from Athens, Greece, extreme symphonic metal band, W.E.B., are back with a new digital EP, titled Into Hell Fire We Burn, which will be released worldwide on October 26 via Metal Blade Records.

Here's what the band has to say about the upcoming EP: "This EP was an idea that had been wandering our minds for a long time. W.E.B. have only released one EP in 2012, the one called 'My Storm Upon You' and the freedom of releasing experimental material, which would never be part of an official album, in addition to something new and a couple of re-enhanced versions of songs, is always intriguing. Here we are with a new song 'Into Hell Fire We Burn,' a re-recording of 'Necrology' (from Colosseum 2021) sang by Hel Pyre, a re-recording medley of two older songs 'For Bidens' and 'My Storm Upon You,' an industrial remix of 'Nightmares in Disguise' and 'Regina Est,' a full orchestral version of 'Clamor Luna' trilogy and a cover of Rotting Christ's 'Non Serviam.' There's a lot to process and listening to this EP seems like a roller coaster with very strange turns but this is what makes roller coasters fun, right? We invite you to an album-lasting ride through several musical layers of the netherworld, from burning into infernal fire to the victorious scream of 'Non Serviam.' Demons don't serve in Heaven - Demons rule in Hell STAY DARK"

The first single released off the EP is the song "Necrology Of Hel", which the band talks about below: "Necrology is one of the most special songs from the 2021 album Colosseum, while the song regarding the vocals is a duet of Sakis and Hel."

W.E.B. decided to re-record the song and have Hel Pyre sing it all by herself since in a way, Necrology is pretty much a personal piece for her.

Hel Pyre added: "This song always felt very special to me ever since I wrote the lyrics and vocal lines for it. Theme wise it's an ode to vampirism and, contrary to its title, to eternal life. To be given the chance to express it with my vocals was something I truly enjoyed and I'm grateful to my band for giving me this opportunity and showing such artistic freedom."

Watch the video below.

Into Hell Fire We Burn tracklisting:

IMMORTAL GUARDIAN Launch Music Video For New Song "Rise Of The Phoenix"

Since spring 2022, power/progressive metal band, Immortal Guardian, has been building awareness and anticipation toward a full album by releasing new songs digitally alongside some great music videos every few months. Fans of the band have enjoyed the development and creativity of the album’s content and evolvement into a concept and final work that will finally compile and complete the 10-song album. Unite And Conquer will hit stores in the US and Canada on October 27, as well as Asia via a licensing deal with Ward Records, followed weeks later by a new deal for European release through Massacre Records.

Today, the band offers another nugget in the shape of the “Rise Of The Phoenix” digital single/music video, further unraveling the depth of the album. Watch the music video below.

“This song is a tribute to my mother, conveying her challenging upbringing and the resilience she embodies. Both my grandparents passed away in a train accident when my mom was only 9 years old. She had to make it through life on her own and eventually move to the USA as a Mexican immigrant,” shares guitarist/keyboardist Gabriel Guardian. “The fact that she never gave up, never caved in, and raised me and all my siblings through so much turbulence, showed she could rise through it all. These lyrics paint a vivid picture of a childhood marked by hardship and sacrifice, with a sense of isolation and struggle. Despite the adversities she faced, this song carries a message of hope and transformation, likening her to a phoenix rising from the ashes.”

Album pre-orders are available now for the digipak CD or limited edition colored vinyl options, including insomnia red with black splatter (250 copies) or the exclusive band/label bone & black variant (100 copies). Pre-order here.

SHYLMAGOGHNAR Releases Stirring Music Video For New Single "The Sea"

Atmospheric black metal act, Shylmagoghnar, recently announced its third studio album, titled Convergence, out November 10 via Napalm Records.

What started out as a duo back in 2004 has turned into a one-man-band, yet, the upcoming new album sees Shylmagoghnar, run by multi-instrumentalist and founding band member Nimblkorg, returning heavier and stronger than before.

Convergence picks up right where both previous albums left off, and is intended as the end instalment of a trilogy-in-spirit. While its predecessors, the much acclaimed Emergence (2014) and Transience (2018), invited the listener on a journey through human existence, time and space, Convergence marks the inward journey of death that one has to go through before being able to pass on.

While the album's protagonist is dying and lyrics describe the emotional, philosophical and psychedelic journey he is undertaking, the new Shylmagoghnar offering is also an allegory for learning to let go of positive and negative themes of the past that hold us back from moving on, and eventually, hopefully reaching inner peace.

It's immediately evident, that Convergence marks the deepest and most personal Shylmagoghnar record to date, as it's dedicated to Nimblkorg's late mother.

Nimblkorg comments: "'The Sea' is the penultimate track of the third album, Convergence, which also marks the end of Shylmagoghnar's initial trilogy. It is the conclusion of a journey started so long ago. A place which welcomes all who have learned to let go. Weary traveller, your fight is over. Welcome back. This song and video is dedicated to José Bertrand-Janssen. Rest in peace Mom."

Both inside and outside of the music, Shylmagoghnar has always been a path with a will of its own for the Southern Netherlands-based Nimblkorg, who produces and records all of the music on his own. Shylmagoghnar is still a home produced project to this day and once again, almost half of the album is instrumental, as Nimblkorg agrees with a significant part of his fan base in that words can distract from the enjoyment of the music. The band mastermind also wishes to motivate other artists to not be afraid of home production.

Convergence is a stirring, emotional and deep journey - never afraid of genre borders and always balanced between the light and dark, the beauty and horror, life and death. Some bands need countless records and members to create a masterpiece, while Shylmagoghnar already unleashes it with album number three, and one that will ultimately establish this one-man-show as one of the most enthralling acts in extreme music

Convergence will be available in the following formats:

- 1 CD Jewelcase
- 2 LP Gatefold BLACK
- 2 LP Gatefold Crystal Clear Deluxe Edition
- Digital Album

Pre-order here.

Convergence tracklisting:

"I Hear The Mountain Weep"

END Share "Thaw" Music Video

End - guitarist Will Putney, vocalist Brendan Murphy, guitarist Gregory Thomas, bassist Jay Pepito, and drummer Matt Guglielmo - will release their second album The Sin Of Human Frailty on October 27 via Closed Casket Activities. Pre-order it here.

Today, the band has shared the video for "Thaw", featuring Heriot's Debbie Gough. Watch the video, full of frenetic visuals, below.

"'Thaw' is a thematically more bizarre exploration into electronics for End," the band shares. "It's a very boundary-less song and one of the more self-fulfilling moments found in the writing process.  As a musician, it's important to express the purest intent of your thoughts, and sometimes that requires reaching beyond the normal instrumentation one is accustomed to. The result is something new for us, but also a part of us. Thank you to Debbie Gough of Heriot for lending her voice to the track. And thank you for giving this new creative passage a listen."

End initially materialized during 2017. The group's From the Unforgiving Arms of God EP spawned the fan favorite "Necessary Death," and lead to a signing with label Closed Casket Activities.

Highlighted by "Covet Not" and "Absence," the band bulldozed the senses with their 2020 full-length debut, Splinters From An Ever-Changing Face.

In 2023, the members congregated once again to write and recorded what would become this sophomore release. "Part of the goal was to do things our way," states Putney. "We didn't want to lean on our influences too heavily, whether it's in terms of production, guitar tone, arrangement, or other elements. We were like, 'Let's just make a record that sounds like End.' I feel like there's more of an identity to the band than there has ever been on this record."

The final result is a unique blend of HM2 driven grind and metallic hardcore cross over with moments of Industrial chaos over ten tracks. Featuring guest vocal appearances by J.R. Hayes (Pig Destroyer), Debbie Gough (Heriot), and Dylan Walker (Full of Hell), this Graphic Nature Audio recording clocks in over 30 minutes of unhinged aggression and grind.

Produced and engineered by Will Putney and featuring the art of Alex Eckman-Lawn, this release pushes the complexity of End, both sonically and visually. Vinyl comes packaged in a ten panel die-cut jacket, pressed on deluxe colored vinyl and with a digital download code.

The Sin Of Human Frailty tracklisting:

"A Predator Yourself"
"Gaping Wounds Of Earth"
"The Sin Of Human Frailty"
"Thaw"
"Embodiment Of Grief"
"Twice Devoured Kill"
"Worthless Is The Lamb"
"Hollow Urn"
"Infest"
"Leper"

STEEL PANTHER Uncovers Truth About False Appearances On Social Media With 'On Your Instagram' Video

California's glam metal jokesters STEEL PANTHER are doing their part to share the message that things aren't always what they seem online with their new music video for "On Your Instagram". The band felt it was important to issue this public service announcement that aligns with the lyrics from the fan-favorite track off STEEL PANTHER's latest album, "On The Prowl". The song talks about how the Instagram age of fake setups and heavily filtered photos has ruined society. It is only being exacerbated with recent AI (Artificial Intelligence) craze. The J.T. Arbogast-directed video follows the assistants of two social media influencers as they question the false realities they are perpetuating for their bosses. The influencer's worlds come down when the assistants quit after deciding to be the real version of themselves. The band — Michael Starr (lead vocals),Satchel (lead guitar),Spyder (bass) and Stix Zadinia (drums) — performs the poignant song in an arcade as Starr reflects: "Such a beautiful filter. Like God himself had built her. Where's the girl that I know on your Instagram?"

Last month, STEEL PANTHER announced a holiday tour in support of its latest album. The "On The Prowl Winter Holidaze" tour is set to kick off this December. STEEL PANTHER will be stuffing stockings for all the naughty housewives on the 12-city trek that will kick off on December 1 in Cleveland, Ohio and wrap up in St. Louis, Missouri on December 17. The tour will make stops in Flint, Michigan (December 5),Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (December 10) and Louisville, Kentucky (December 16),among others. Spreading holiday cheer with STEEL PANTHER are Seattle rockers MOON FEVER.

In August, STEEL PANTHER failed to make it through to the Top 10 of season 18 of "America's Got Talent" reality television and talent competition series.

STEEL PANTHER performed on the August 29 episode of the "America's Got Talent". They played their classic song "Death To All But Metal", from 2009's "Feel the Steel" album, although they admittedly had to tweak some of the provocative lyrics in order to appear on NBC during primetime.

STEEL PANTHER's sixth studio album, "On The Prowl", was released in February.

In September 2022, STEEL PANTHER announced the addition of Spyder as the band's new bassist.

The group's music has been described as "VAN HALEN meets MÖTLEY CRÜE meets RATT meets 'Wayne's World', complete with operatic shrieks, misogyny, shredding guitar solos and libidinal overdrive."

Fifteen years ago, STEEL PANTHER changed its name from METAL SKOOL to its current moniker and shifted the focus of its act from '80s metal covers to originals.

BUSH Shares Music Video For New Song 'Nowhere To Go But Everywhere'

BUSH has released the official music video for the new track "Nowhere To Go But Everywhere" which will appear on the band's first-ever greatest-hits collection, "Loaded: The Greatest Hits 1994-2023", due on November 10 via Round Hill Records. An exploration of mourning youth, while questioning the lengths people go to avoid aging, the clip can be seen below.

BUSH frontman Gavin Rossdale comments on the video: "While anyone can identify with clinging to the past which the song addresses, the extremes we've seen some people go to for external youth is unnerving. It is a drag watching your own face age — and yet, as David Bowie said, 'The thing about aging is you become the person you should have been all along.' Genius. And feels true."

Rossdale wrote "Nowhere To Go But Everywhere", which is the second to last song on "Loaded". He and Corey Britz produced it.

With over 24 million records sold, one billion streams and a procession of No. 1 hits, the Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum band — comprising Gavin Rossdale (vocals, guitar),Chris Traynor (guitar),Corey Britz (bass) and Nik Hughes (drums) — stands tall as rock outliers whose imprint only widens as the years pass. "Loaded" provides an expansive view of the band's incredible legacy with 21 tracks spanning nearly 30 years.

As announced last month, BUSH will launch the "Nowhere To Go But Everywhere" tour, a North American headline run, on November 14 at Hard Rock Live in Orlando, Florida. BAD WOLVES and EVA UNDER FIRE will support on most dates.

"Loaded" includes iconic hits from each of BUSH's nine studio albums as well as "Mouth" (The Stingray Mix) from the 1997 remix album "Deconstructed" and a cover of THE BEATLES' "Come Together" that saw a very limited release in 2012.

Next year will mark the 30th anniversary of the release of BUSH's six-times-platinum debut album, "Sixteen Stone", so it's only fitting that "Loaded" explodes with five tracks from the seminal album: their debut single, "Everything Zen", "Little Things", "Machinehead" and the group's first No. 1 singles — "Comedown" and "Glycerine", which topped Billboard's Alternative Airplay chart in 1995.

Other chart-topping hits included in the collection include the Grammy-nominated "Swallowed" (from 1996's "Razorblade Suitcase"),"The Chemicals Between Us" (from 1999's "The Science Of Things"),"The Sound Of Winter" (from 2011's "The Sea Of Memories") and, from the band's 2022 album "The Art Of Survival", "More Than Machines", BUSH's seventh single to top the Active Rock Radio chart. "Bullet Holes", which figured prominently in the box office smash "John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum", is one of three songs pulled from 2020's "The Kingdom".

"I'm really grateful that I get the chance to make music after all of this time," Rossdale said. "The privilege is not lost on me. I'm still in the octagon, and I think that's healthy because I'm good at fighting."

"Loaded: The Greatest Hits 1994-2023" track listing:

01. Everything Zen
02. Little Things
03. Comedown
04. Glycerine
05. Machinehead
06. Swallowed

India’s FIFTH NOTE To Release Debut Here We Are Via Frontiers; “Always Love You” Video Streaming

Indian rockers, Fifth Note will release their debut album, Here We Are on December 8 via Frontiers. The first single from the album, “Always Love You,” is out today with an accompanying music video. Preorder Here We Are here.

A new signing to the Frontiers label, Fifth Note is based in Kohima, the capital state of Nagaland, in the Northeast region of India. The group started up in the middle of 2019, evolving from the original foundation as a Christian themed band. Now, they draw most of their musical influences from the secular progressive metal and classic old school hard rock genres. Though progressive music can run the risk of being self-indulgent, Fifth Note manage to offer a sort of primal urge in their music while still offering catchy melodies and a super polished sound.

Like many other bands of the genre, Fifth Note started out performing cover songs, including songs from label mates such as Stryper and Circus Maximus among others. Nevertheless, with the growing interest in original music and demand from the fans, the band released their original "Misfortune" and "Here We Are" singles in 2021.

With those original songs released, the band won many fans and were inspired to keep going and play bigger stages with support from around the state and beyond. Fifth Note has performed live at numerous events and also won several awards in their homeland, thus gaining a considerable following in their country.

The band's original music piqued interest from the Frontiers label which works hard to scout the most exciting musical talents around the globe and the result is Here We Are - Fifth Note’s debut full length album. The record also includes Fifth Note's debut singles and a superbly crafted set of hard rock songs with a progressive metal edge. Not far off from what their compadres About Us have put out in the past few months on their acclaimed debut album. Additionally, Fifth Note is active in promoting good time music with no use of drugs, alcohol or things of that sort.

CRACK THE SKY Release Acoustic Performance Video For “Don’t Close Your Eyes”

Prog-rock pioneers and veterans, Crack The Sky, releasied their 20th studio album, From The Wood, on Friday, June 9. Physical orders are available here. The band has shared an acoustic performance video for the track "Don't Close Your Eyes". The song tells a somber tale about teenage suicide and the toll it can take on loved ones set to melodic guitars, gently strumming along to Palumbo’s temperate vocals. Watch below:

From The Wood sees Crack The Sky breaking new ground, surprising fans with a mostly acoustic album.  Acoustic guitars, piano, dobro, ukulele, banjo, accordion, mandolin, bass, toy piano, djembe, and drums, the result is a ten-track opus (plus two bonus tracks) that inspires, enflames, and reassures the listener with twists and turns along the way.  From The Wood is introspective but still unique and progressive. John Palumbo continues to shape his vision of a world with his unique writing style. The guitar interplay from Rick Witkowski and Bobby Hird continues to propel the band in both new and familiar directions.

Songs cover an array of poignant topics including isolation (as experienced from the pandemic), teenage suicide, and social and political commentary on songs such as “Don’t Feed The Tigers” about how we, as a society, put our blind faith in the government and those who run things.  “Fun In Isolation” is a rocking track about the desperation of wanting to be left alone during pandemic to get away from the circus that went on politically surrounding it.  “Heart Of The Lion” with its classic rock sound and smooth vocal harmonies, pays homage to Ukraine. “My New World” is a lament on how much things have changed told from the perspective of a skeptical man. The album’s hopeful closing track, “Circle Of Life” is about the feeling of being in a state of Zen and being one with the universe.

Some bands have the innate ability to put their collective finger on the pulse of the zeitgeist, and then be able to channel that level of awareness into poignant, affecting music that transcends the bounds of the here and now. Crack The Sky is just such a band

Crack The Sky is comprised of John Palumbo (lead vocals, guitars, keyboards), Rick Witkowski (guitars, vocals, studio production, engineering), Bobby Hird (guitars, vocals), Joey D'Amico (drums, vocals), Glenn Workman (keyboards, vocals), and Dave DeMarco (bass, vocals).
