QUEENSRŸCHE Singer TODD LA TORRE Says His Debut Solo Album 'Sounds Amazing'The long-in-the-works solo album from QUEENSRŸCHE singer Todd La Torre has apparently been completed for a late 2020 release via Rat Pak Records. The disc was mixed by Chris "Zeuss" Harris, who has previously worked with ROB ZOMBIE, ICED EARTH and HATEBREED, among others.
On Wednesday (August 19), La Torre tweeted: "The mighty @zeuss1 CRUSHED the mixes on my new solo record! It sounds amazing! Top shelf sonic sweetness"
This past March, Todd said he would use the coronavirus downtime to write or co-write a few more tunes and "shape up existing songs/demos" for his solo album with his lifelong best friend Craig Blackwell. He also said that he and his QUEENSRŸCHE bandmates would take advantage of the time away from the road "to work on new ideas" for the follow-up to 2019's "The Verdict".
La Torre previously talked about his plans to release a solo LP in a 2017 interview with Canada's The Metal Voice. He stated about the direction of the material that will appear on the record: "Musically, it is probably, like, FIGHT meets PANTERA meets BLACK LABEL [SOCIETY]. It's definitely got that kind of southern… You know, PANTERA had that certain power groove — not full-fledged [speed], but has thrash elements. And then vocally, I'm singing probably a lot more chest voice, and then I've got some brutal gutteral vocals on it… That'll be a lot more brutal and more thrash, but the vocals are definitely more a power-metal, operatic kind of a thing — very aggressive…"
QUEENSRŸCHE spent a year touring in support of "The Verdict", which was released in March 2019 via Century Media Records.
"The Verdict" marked QUEENSRŸCHE's third full-length release with La Torre, following the departure of original singer Geoff Tate in 2012.
The current QUEENSRŸCHE lineup features two original members, bassist Eddie Jackson and guitarist Michael Wilton, along with La Torre and guitarist Parker Lundgren.

KAMELOT Has 25 Songs For Next Studio AlbumIn a new interview with A&P Reacts, Thomas Youngblood spoke about the progress of the songwriting sessions for KAMELOT's follow-up to 2018's "The Shadow Theory" album. The guitarist said (see video below): "We have, actually, 25 songs right now, which has never happened — never. So now we have to kill a lot of darlings for this album, which sucks. Actually, I have a Zoom call today with Tommy [Karevik, vocals] and Oliver [Palotai, keyboards]. We're gonna be discussing that very fact. 'Cause we have to focus on 12, 13 songs. So, yeah, we have more material than ever. Some really cool stuff. I think a lot of what fans expect, but also a lot of cool new surprises."
He continued: "Having Tommy now as one of the songwriters has been killer; he's coming out with really cool stuff. And then, of course, Oliver and myself, and having Alex [Landenburg] now as our drummer; he's got a lot of cool ideas. What a cool guy Alex is. So, yeah, it's gonna be exciting. We're slowly putting all the parts together. We're planning like things are gonna happen middle of next year. Let's hope that happens. If not, at least we'll be ready."
Youngblood went on to say that although the original plan was to release the new KAMELOT album in March 2021, the LP is now not scheduled to arrive before August or September of next year.
KAMELOT's new DVD and Blu-ray, "I Am The Empire - Live From The 013", was released on August 14 via Napalm Records. The 21-song set was recorded at 013 in Tilburg, Netherlands and includes more than 100 minutes of live music and multiple exclusive extras, including backstage interviews of all guests, bandmembers and fans. Featured guest musicians include Alissa White-Gluz (ARCH ENEMY), Elize Ryd (AMARANTHE), Charlotte Wessels (DELAIN) and Lauren Hart (ONCE HUMAN).
"The Shadow Theory" was released in April 2018 via Napalm Records. The follow-up to 2015's "Haven" was helmed by acclaimed music producer Sascha Paeth and mastered by Jacob Hansen. Guests on the album include Hart, Jennifer Haben (BEYOND THE BLACK) and Sascha Paeth. The cover artwork was created by Stefan Heilemann.
The first official book by and about KAMELOT, "Veritas: A Kamelot Legacy", marking the 30th anniversary of the founding of the band, will be released later this year via Rocket 88. 6

Watch ANTHRAX Perform Quarantine Version Of 'Time'ANTHRAX played the song "Time" during the Wacken World Wide digital festival, which was held earlier in the month. Video of the performance, which was recorded while all five members of the band were in quarantine, can be seen below.
The 30th-anniversary Deluxe Edition of ANTHRAX's "Persistence Of Time" album is due on August 21 via Megaforce Records. Produced by ANTHRAX and Mark Dodson. it will be available exclusively on disc and vinyl. The CD package will include two CDs and one DVD, the vinyl edition offers four LPs, as well as revised cover art that reflects what had been the album's original visual concept.
Earlier this week, ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian said that the band has "a lot of material" written for its next studio album.
The follow-up to 2016's "For All Kings" will be ANTHRAX's third full-length release since the 2010 return of singer Joey Belladonna, who came back into the fold for the "Big Four" shows with METALLICA, SLAYER and MEGADETH, in the process helping inspire a new wave of creativity.
In an interview with Syfy Wire's "Metal Crush", Ian stated about the progress of the ANTHRAX songwriting sessions: "We had already started working on stuff with the intent of finishing it up in the springtime of this year, of '20, and then maybe getting in the studio and either having a record out later this year or early '21. But obviously all those plans have now changed [in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic]. We have still been working on stuff through the magic of the Internet. We can do a lot over Zoom and FaceTime, sending music back and forth through e-mail and all that. But we need to really get in the room and work on the arrangements and really play something, like, 30 times until you really understand it and feel like, 'Okay, this is what this arrangement needs to be.' But that's kind of the holdup at this point. But we certainly have a lot of material, which makes me very excited about when we can actually get in a room together and [work on stuff]."
At last year's Download festival in the United Kingdom, drummer Charlie Benante said fans can expect to hear some surprises on ANTHRAX's next disc. "There's some extreme stuff on this record that we touched on," he said. "There's different things that we're gonna try and do that's gonna make it next level."
Earlier last year, Benante told Australia's "Everblack" podcast that ANTHRAX's new music is shaping up to be "a little more in the aggressive style."
"For All Kings" was called by some critics ANTHRAX's strongest album to date. Its arrival followed a five-year period during which the band experienced a rebirth of sorts, beginning with ANTHRAX's inclusion on the "Big Four" tour, and continuing with the 2011 release of comeback LP "Worship Music". 1

SADISTIC EMBODIMENT Announce Blood Spell Album; Single StreamingCanada’s Sadistic Embodiment is releasing a new album Blood Spell on September 18 via CDN Records. The album follows the band three EPs Beloved Imprisonment (2019), Blodörn (2018), and Self-Titled (2018). Continuing their sonic onslaught, each of the nine songs on Blood Spell has a distinct feel given the variation in vocal and instrumental styles throughout the album. Each song stands out and yet they are all uniquely Sadistic Embodiment. This will please old school death metallers and the new school with a variety of punch-in-your-face hooks, melodic passages, and absolutely brutal anthemic choruses.
“After spitting out three EPs this last couple of years, we were really stoked and kind of nervous settling into a longer writing and recording process for Blood Spell. As per usual, we cranked out the material during bi-monthly jams, but this time we really took our time crafting the music once the main structure of the songs was built. Our sound is still exactly the same, but the listeners may hear more broad musical influences across the nine tracks. There are tracks that sound distinctively Wally and Jason and certain tracks where you really hear Bryan shine as he shows off his technical prowess.
A lot of our songs are longer than your average death metal track, and they are relatively simple in regards to guitar and lyrical work. But with longer playtimes, we were able to fit in more ambiance and guitars solos into every nook and cranny," the band adds.
Today, Sadistic Embodiment is sharing their second single off the full-length. Entitled "Gallows Hill", the track is a thrashy and high-energy mosher with lyrics reminiscing of a brutal and unforgiving historic time.
Guitarist Jason Cullen explains:
"With this song, I went back to my roots, as many may know (and some that don’t) I’m from Ireland. I love to show my love for my country in my music, the first being a huge lyric influence in the song “Freedom Cry” from our EP Blodörn.
With “Gallows Hill” I once again go back to my homeland with more brutal Irish historical facts from the 1800s. The song is based on the area where hangings happened for horrific crimes committed, where a crowd would form to watch the pain and suffering of the man OR woman of the rope.
This is also my first song for SE where I take lead on vocals with our current vocal lineup. You can feel the pain of both those being hung and their victims' families in this song, along with catchy groovy riffs and vocal melodies, this will be a song that will stick in your head for a while."
Blood Spell will be released on September 18, 2020 on all major digital platforms along with being available for pre-order (CD) from CDN Records here.
The album is for fans of both old school death metal and newer that will appreciate it. Especially fans of Gojira, Bloodbath, and Kataklysm. Like a pungent black onion, Blood Spell has many layers of groovy, mid-tempo riffs, choruses alongside pain, anguish, and rage; the instrumental and vocal nuances meticulously build into each song.
Tracklisting:
“Stranger”
“Gallows Hill”
“Catherine’s Braid”
“Phantom Tormentor”
“Nebulae (Call Of The Void)”

"Very cool to revisit this fan favorite with an updated production and our current sound nineteen years later. It's amazing how great it fits style-wise with our new songs that we've released over the last couple of years," says Lion's Share guitarist Lars Chriss.
Lion's Share lead singer Nils Patrik Johansson says: "Once again we invited Andy Loos (bass), and my son Nils Fredrik Johansson (drums), to help us out in the studio. The keyboards were kept from the original Entrance recordings that the late Mats Olausson (Yngwie Malmsteen), did back in 2001.”
The song originally appeared on Lion's Share's fourth album Entrance (2001). The Lion’s Share catalog features appearances by members and ex-members of KISS, Megadeth, King Diamond, HammerFall, Symphony X, Chimaira, Therion, Yngwie Malmsteen, Candlemass, Sorcerer, and more. Mixers include top engineers such as Jens Bogren (Arch Enemy, Opeth, Symphony X, Amon Amarth) - Niklas Flyckt (one-time Grammy award winner and four-time nominee) and Ronny Lahti (Roxette, Europe, Glenn Hughes, Electric Boys).

The band have toured in Europe with bands like Motörhead, Manowar, DIO, Saxon, Iced Earth, Nevermore, U.D.O., Dee Snider and have played many of the major festivals. "Today, I arise draped in my Power Puff Girls 'tracking accomplished' robe and I’m feeling so very thankful that David Ellefson, Devin Townsend, Benji Webbe, Clint Lowery, Butch Walker, Andee Blacksugar, Bumblefoot, Clay Cook, Todd LaTorre, Ricky Sanders, Pat Badger, Edu Cominato, Kyle Sanders, Kevin Scott, Stephen Gibb, Jeff Scott Soto, and Emil Werstler said yes. If you do nothing else today, please follow, discover, support, purchase, rediscover and or stream all of these amazing artists. They are all up to amazing things in their own right and you will be musically richer for having done so!
More updates soon!"

SIX FEET UNDER To Release 'Nightmares Of The Decomposed' Album In OctoberOn October 2, death metal veterans SIX FEET UNDER will release their 17th full-length album, "Nightmares Of The Decomposed", via Metal Blade Records. The first single and album pre-order will be launched on September 1, but in the meantime, fans can already watch a studio video teaser for the LP below.
Vocalist Chris Barnes comments: "Working again after 25 years writing an album with my old bandmate from CANNIBAL CORPSE, Jack Owen [guitar], was like coming home...To a room full of dead bodies. Jack's writing and riff work on this album gave me the fuel to write some disturbing lyrics and really set my creative mind on fire."
Comprised of 12 tracks, "Nightmares Of The Decomposed" is a defining statement, making it very clear that more than twenty-five years into their career, SIX FEET UNDER remain at the forefront of the genre. Dynamic, heavy as hell, catchy, and uncompromising, it is everything that the band's longtime faithful have come to expect from the deadly unit, and is clearly the product of a lot of hard work by Barnes, guitarists Owen and Ray Suhy, bassist Jeff Hughell and drummer Marco Pitruzzella.
Tracked at various studios, including Criteria Studios in Miami, Florida, which over the years has played host to the likes of AC/DC, BLACK SABBATH and AEROSMITH, among others, it was produced, engineered and mixed by Chris Carroll, who has given it a full and chunky feel. The album's mastering was handled by Chaz Najjar at Badlands Recording in Denver, Colorado. The finished product comes packaged in artwork by Luke Hunter and is packed with songs that will sound great live, and will sit comfortably alongside the classics already filling out their set lists, helping to drive the band ever closer to their fourth decade of existence.
SIX FEET UNDER is:
Chris Barnes - vocals
Jack Owen - rhythm and lead guitar
Ray Suhy - lead guitar
Jeff Hughell - bass
Marco Pitruzzella - drums

Hear CHERIE CURRIE And BRIE DARLING Cover SOUNDGARDEN's 'Black Hole Sun'Cherie Currie and Brie Darling have released a stirring new cover of SOUNDGARDEN's "Black Hole Sun" to benefit the Chris And Vicky Cornell Foundation.
Currie explains why she and musical partner wanted to be involved in the project: "His artistry shown in everything he touched. He loved people more than he loved himself. There will never be another Chris Cornell."
Darling echoes the sentiment when asked about the song selection. "Immediately, I knew the song I would like us to do, my favorite... 'Black Hole Sun'!" she says. "I felt Cherie's and my voices would work well on his beautiful and haunting melody. I love her and my different sounds and styles that work so well together. What a gift and inspiration, Chris's talent was truly special."
This single marks the third entry of Blue Élan's "We Are The Highway" project, an upcoming charitable collection of Chris Cornell cover singles. "We Are The Highway" proceeds will benefit the Chris And Vicky Cornell Foundation — helping children who are facing homelessness, poverty, abuse, and neglect worldwide. The collection will feature five cover versions of songs written and performed by Cornell, in an effort to uphold Cornell's legacy and keep the promise as a way to make positive change through music, made to him by Blue Élan co-founder, and personal friend, Kirk Pasich.
Beyond forwarding proceeds, Blue Élan hopes that it will also bring awareness to this charitable foundation that now, more than ever, is necessary to help children in need. As Kirk states: "We cannot think of a better musical way to do that than sharing the music of Chris Cornell, in his memory, and to help children."
Darling agrees: "With the staggering number of people struggling with so many issues that this world faces now, what better way to contribute to something good, than being a part of Kirk Pasich's project, recording a collection of Chris Cornell songs to contribute to Chris and Vicky's organization that benefits children in need."
Cornell was a client of prominent insurance coverage attorney Pasich. What started as a business relationship quickly turned to a friendship over their shared love of music. Kirk has made it his mission to uphold Cornell's legacy and keep the promise as a way of making positive change through music. With that in mind, several Blue Élan artists and friends have chosen songs from Cornell's catalog. These songs have inspired each artist's own journey to survive, to persevere, and to thrive in hopes of maintaining the promise of the Chris And Vicky Cornell Foundation.

IRON MAIDEN's ADRIAN SMITH Unboxes First Copy Of His Upcoming Fishing Memoir 'Monsters Of River & Rock'A one-and-a-half-minute video in which Adrian Smith, the legendary lead guitarist of IRON MAIDEN, unboxes the very first copy of his upcoming memoir, "Monsters Of River & Rock", can be seen below.
Smith is well known in the community as a fisherman, and a former cover star of coarse-fishing bible the Angler's Mail (biggest chub of the season, August 2009). In his first, very personal, riverside memoir, "Monsters Of River & Rock", Smith takes us with him on his incredible journey, through the highs and lows of life on tour, and on the river-bank, as his fishing gear travels with him across the world.
Adrian got hooked on fishing as a child growing up in East London, plundering ponds and bomb craters on the Hackney Marshes for newts and sticklebacks and catching perch from the Grand Union Canal whilst on outings with his father. Things began to get more exotic when the young angling enthusiast grew up to become lead guitarist in one of the most successful rock bands in history, and started travelling the world playing to many millions of fans. But once a fisherman, always a fisherman. The gear went with him, the fish got bigger, the adventures more extreme.
Welcome to the world of Adrian Smith, as he clocks in to his day job furthering the geographical boundaries of hard rock, and clocks off to explore far-flung rivers, seas, waterways, lakes and pools on his fearless quest for fishing nirvana. His adventures range from his first sturgeon, a whopping 100-pounder from Canada's swirling Fraser River that nearly wiped him out mid-Maiden tour, to a close shave with a large shark off the Virgin Islands whilst wading waist-deep for bonefish. Not to mention an enviable list of specimen coarse fish from the U.K.
Charming, funny, and moving in equal measure, "Monsters Of River & Rock" is the ultimate fishing-fantasy armchair read, and is also the story of a rock star in a fast-moving world who seeks peace and tranquillity at the water’s edge — wherever he is.
"Monsters Of River & Rock" will be released on September 3 via Virgin Books.
Smith was born in Hackney, East London, on February 27, 1957. He joined IRON MAIDEN at the end of 1980. Adrian is the bandmember who has collaborated on the most side projects outside of IRON MAIDEN, as well as writing and recording a series of albums in the early '90s, before rejoining the band. IRON MAIDEN has sold 100 million albums, and tour the world playing to millions of fans. Onstage, Adrian uses Jackson and Gibson guitars. Offstage, he is an avid tennis player. However, his main hobby is fishing. He takes his rod and gear out on tour with him wherever he goes. This is his first book.

DEF LEPPARD, SLIPKNOT, GUNS N' ROSES, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH Members To Guest On New Version Of SIXX:A.M.'s 'Maybe It's Time'DEF LEPPARD vocalist Joe Elliott, SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor, GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash and FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH singer Ivan Moody are among the musicians who are featured on the new version of the SIXX:A.M. song "Maybe It's Time", to be released on Friday (August 21) as part of the Artists For Recovery project
"Maybe It's Time" brings together artists to help fight substance use disorders and help people in recovery. The track will also be part of the soundtrack to the film "Sno Babies", which will be available on on-demand and digital platforms on Tuesday, September 29.
The original version of "Maybe It's Time" appeared on SIXX:A.M.'s latest album, "Vol. 2, Prayers For The Blessed", which was released in November 2016 via Eleven Seven Music. The disc was written and recorded at the same time as "Vol. 1, Prayers For The Damned", released earlier that same year, and it acted as a companion piece to the first chapter.
A gripping and emotive tale, "Sno Babies" depicts the grim realities of addiction and its effects on a middle-class suburban town. Kristen and Hannah are best friends — smart, likable and college-bound — and also addicted to heroin. The pair of seemingly unlikely addicts spiral down a path of destruction, hiding their secret from well-meaning but busy parents behind pink bedrooms and school uniforms. "Sno Babies" shows how easy it can be to both miss and hide the signs of addiction behind the façade of "good" neighborhoods and pleasantly busy communities.
"Sno Babies" is the first feature from Better Noise Films, a new venture from entertainment mogul Allen Kovac.
The official "Sno Babies" soundtrack will include two tracks from SIXX:A.M., which consists of MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx, guitarist DJ Ashba and singer James Michael, as well as hits from country/rock star Cory Marks ("Outlaws & Outsiders"), BAD WOLVES ("Sober") and new music from EVA UNDER FIRE, FROM ASHES TO NEW and ESCAPE THE FATE.
This past January, SIXX:A.M. released the official music video for "Talk To Me". The track, originally released last September, invited each of us to take the first step toward mutual understanding and healing using the power of conversation.
Joe’s proud to be part of Nikki’s Sixx’s Sixx:AM Artists For Recovery project. “Maybe It’s Time” brings together artists to help fight substance use disorders and help people in recovery. The song will be available Friday, and will be part of the #SnoBabies movie soundtrack. pic.twitter.com/r2dSziNDtP

COREY TAYLOR Releases Music Video For 'Black Eyes Blue'SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor will release his debut solo album, "CMFT", on October 2 via Roadrunner Records. Taylor recorded the solo effort with his band consisting of Jason Christopher on bass, Dustin Schoenhofer on drums, and Zach Throne and Christian Martucci (STONE SOUR) on guitar. The LP was completed at Kevin Churko's The Hideout Recording Studio in Las Vegas with producer Jay Ruston, who has previously worked with ANTHRAX, STEEL PANTHER and STONE SOUR, among others.
The first two singles from the effort, "CMFT Must Be Stopped" and "Black Eyes Blue", were released last month and are available on all streaming platforms now. A new Djay Brawner-directed music video for "Black Eyes Blue" can be seen below.
"I love what I've done in the past, I love the projects that I've been attached to, but this, honestly, was probably the most enjoyable album that I've done since the first SLIPKNOT album," Corey told Kerrang! magazine. "There was such a sense of, 'We're doing it together.' I hadn't felt anything like that for a really long time, man. People grow apart, relationships become fractious… people stop liking each other sometimes, in certain bands, you know? But with this, it was totally different, because we were all friends before that. We just happened to all play together, and then we formed a band around that friendship, and it all really galvanized it.
"This has definitely made me appreciate making music again, let's put it that way," he added.
"CMFT Must Be Stopped" and "Black Eyes Blue" lluminate the broad spectrum of this fiery and fearless rock 'n' roll opus, as Taylor touches on lifelong influences ranging from hard rock to classic rock, punk rock to hip-hop. On "Black Eyes Blue", Taylor's vocals soar with nostalgia, while on "CMFT Must Be Stopped" his rhymes recall his work on SLIPKNOT's debut record and run alongside bulletproof bars from multi-platinum artist Tech N9ne and U.K. MC Kid Bookie. The track is joined by another Djay Brawner-directed music video, which sees Taylor taking the CMFT championship belt as friends such as Marilyn Manson, Lars Ulrich, Rob Halford, Chris Jericho, ZillaKami and more making cameos.
"I was talking to my wife about this the other day — I was, like, 'Fuck! There's nobody for me to hide behind!'" Corey told Kerrang! "It's easy to take risks when you have the benefit of a well-established name — and by that, I mean the bands that I've been in for 20 years. But I also feel like I've earned the right to put something out there and throw people for a loop — not only with the things that I've done with both bands, but the guest spots that I've done with several bands: everybody from TONIGHT ALIVE to Zakk Wylde to Tech N9ne. I mean, I've really spread out, in a cool way. I've never sequestered myself to one corner of the genre; I've never allowed myself to be painted into a corner. And I think because of that, people's minds are a lot more open when they hear that I'm putting something out. They're gonna come into it with this mindset of, 'Okay, I don't know what the fuck I'm about to hear. This should be interesting. I think by doing that, that really sets the tone for your career."
Taylor previously worked with Tech N9ne on a song called "Wither" in 2015, and with Kid Bookie on a reworked version of the rapper's track "Stuck In My Ways" last year.
SLIPKNOT recently canceled all of its previously announced summer 2020 tour dates, including the "Knotfest Roadshow", Knotfest UK and Knotfest At Sea, due to the coronavirus pandemic which is sweeping the globe.

Exclusive: LOST SYMPHONY Premieres “No Exit” Video Feat. DAVID ELLEFSON, JEFF LOOMIS, JIMI BELLJust months after Lost Symphony raised the bar on classical-infused metal with their debut, Chapter I, the ensemble is returning with new album, Chapter II. BraveWords is premiering the new video for "No Exit", featuring Megadeth bassist David Ellefson, Arch Enemy guitarist Jeff Loomis, and House Of Lords / Autograph guitarist Jimi Bell. The video was directed and edited by Brian Cox and stars Harri Charli.
"‘No Exit’ is about feeling trapped to the point of panic. The music is the soundtrack to the torment that goes through your mind when one is deprived of their regular day. It’s truly a dream come true to be able to play with David Ellefson, Jimi Bell and Jeff Loomis on a song. Never in a million years did I think my anxiety would lead to my dreams coming true." - Benny Goodman
Primarily composed before, yet eerily perfect for the age of the Pandemic, the eight-track opus - due out October 16 - strains beauty through aural apocalypse. The collective founded by multi-instrumentalist and producer Benny Goodman and comprising his brother Brian (compositions, arrangement), Cory Paza (bass, guitar), Kelly Kereliuk (guitar), Paul Lourenco (drums), and Siobhán Cronin (violin, viola, electric violin) has once again welcomed a revolving cast of virtuosos to join them for the next phase. This installment includes Marty Friedman, David Ellefson, Jeff Loomis, Bumblefoot and many more.
Lost Symphony was set in motion when Benny Goodman invited guitarists Kelly Kereliuk and Conrad Simon to add another dimension to the classical demo he had composed. An early recording of “Leave Well Enough Alone,” which appears on Chapter II, made its way to All That Remains co-founder and guitar hero Oli Herbert, who quickly jumped aboard as a chief collaborator. Upon arrival, Chapter I immediately received widespread critical acclaim.
“With All That Remains, I'm doing about 16 bar solos on every song, so I have a very modest amount of time to say what I need to say,” Herbert previously said. “With this, [Ben]'s like ‘Hey man, I want you to play over like 64 bars.’ So, I have to really think differently about my structure and approach. It's kind of like more is more, and it lets me really get that side out of me. It really made me consolidate all my resources and put down as much material as possible. I think it's made me a much better player and musician.”
Chapter II pre-orders are available here.

Watch STEEL PANTHER's Second Virtual Concert Event, 'Rockdown In The Lockdown'California glam metal jokesters STEEL PANTHER played their second virtual concert event, "Rockdown In The Lockdown", on Sunday, August 16 from the ultra-sanitized, production-filled, multi-camera Drum Channel Studio at Drum Workshop, located in Oxnard, California. The performance was streamed live globally and is now available on demand through August 31. A clip of the concert can be seen below.
Last year, drummer Stix Zadinia told Audio Ink Radio that STEEL PANTHER's live show has been very instrumental in the band's success. "I think that's why we've been able to have a career," he said. "People don't sell albums anymore, because you have all the streaming, and nobody wants to buy stuff you can get essentially for free, so if your live show isn't killer, then people aren't going to come back and see you the next time. They're going to say, 'They phoned it in,' or, 'They weren't that good.' For us, it's crucial that we kill live. And we came up playing six, seven nights a week, regular weekly shows, so going out and playing live is what we do. We also happen to put records out. We go play live, and then we put records out also."
STEEL PANTHER's latest album, "Heavy Metal Rules", was released last September. The disc, which is described in a press release as a "heavy metal version of a self-help manual and ultimate party album combined," was once again produced by Jay Ruston, who collaborated with the band on all of its previous recordings, including 2017's "Lower The Bar".
STEEL PANTHER specializes in imitating and exaggerating the less flattering aspects of 1980s hair metal, with unrepentantly crude, non-PC sexual content as a favorite lyrical theme.
The group's music has been described as "VAN HALEN meets MÖTLEY CRÜE meets RATT meets 'Wayne's World', complete with operatic shrieks, misogyny, shredding guitar solos and libidinal overdrive."
Twelve years ago, STEEL PANTHER changed its name from METAL SKOOL to its current moniker and shifted the focus of its act from '80s metal covers to originals.

STEVE LUKATHER Releases New Song 'Run To Me' Featuring RINGO STARRSteve Lukather and Mascot Label Group/The Players Club have announced the release of a newly recorded composition titled "Run To Me", and an accompanying video. The song is heavily influenced by the artist's fond connection to music from the late 60's.
"Run To Me" was co-written by David Paich, Joseph Williams and Lukather. Performances include Lukather on guitar, Joseph Williams on keyboards and background vocals, John Pierce from HUEY LEWIS & THE NEWS on bass, alongside Lukather's bandmate and close friend Ringo Starr making a special appearance in both the video and on the record itself.
Lukather shares: "I wanted to release this now because it fits the moment. A time where we all need a happy song for an unhappy time.
"When I got together with Joseph Williams and David Paich to collaborate on the songwriting, there was pure collective inspiration amongst the three of us to articulate this message of hope directed towards our daughters.
"Musically, the song is absolutely influenced by my growing up in the sixties, inspired by some of my favorite elements of the repertoire that defined that indelible era.
"And, Ringo, what can I say. It is an honor to have his contribution captured on a song of mine, much less his gracious presence in the video. Over the course of the last decade, we've become dear friends travelling the world with one another, and much like Paich and Williams, I am certainly blessed to have these talented, amazing human beings in my life as both band mates and friends.
"As we all look towards the unknown of this crazy world we are living in, simply my hope is this tune brings a little peace, love and pleasant distraction to these uncertain times."
The recording was mixed by Kenneth Freeman, and mastered by Freeman's body double. Additional engineering by Bruce Sugar (for Ringo) and Joseph Williams.
Details on Lukather's forthcoming solo album, coming in early 2021, will be shared in the coming months.
Over the course of five decades, Lukather has placed an indelible stamp on pop culture. Alongside his tenure as the only member of TOTO to never take a hiatus from the band, he has performed on thousands of albums as a session musician. Amongst these musical contributions are some of the most successful, influential and enduring records of all time, including Michael Jackson's "Thriller". Additionally, he released a memoir titled "The Gospel According To Luke", which was a global best-seller. He continues to be TOTO's band leader, a member of Ringo's ALL-STARR BAND, and a solo artist performing with multiple ensembles which include NERVE BUNDLE.
TOTO has enjoyed a celebrated resurgence over the last several years tied to the band's 40th anniversary, wherein over a thirty month period they performed for millions of fans across North America, Europe, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia. The band's repertoire has been streamed over a billion times, while album sales exceed 40 million copies.

VIO-LENCE Covers DEAD KENNEDYS' 'California Über Alles' (Video)Reunited San Francisco Bay Area thrashers VIO-LENCE have released a new digital single, "California Über Alles", a cover version of the DEAD KENNEDYS classic. The band also recently filmed a music video for the song with director Scott Kirkeeng. Check it out below.
VIO-LENCE comments: "Being musicians in the Bay Area thrash metal scene, VIO-LENCE believes it is important to acknowledge the music that had a huge influence on thrash metal — which was Bay Area punk rock. With that in mind, VIO-LENCE looked to one of the most influential bands of that scene — the DEAD KENNEDYS — and their iconic song 'California Über Alles' to perform.
"'California Uber Alles' is a song VIO-LENCE has been wanting to perform live for some time. We decided that since we weren't going to be able to do that this year, and since fans haven't heard any recordings from VIO-LENCE since 1994, that now was a good time to bring it to our fans. We recorded it in our rehearsal studio with our new lineup of Phil Demmel, Perry Strickland, Christian Olde Wolbers [ex-FEAR FACTORY], Bobby Gustafson and Sean Killian. So we hooked up the recording equipment and got to work. On a good day, it was about 95 degrees Fahrenheit, which was a motivator to nail our takes to minimize the time we had to sweat. Once the song was recorded, Christian headed home to Venice and got to work mixing and mastering the recording. We all agree that he did a great job, giving the song excellent sound without losing the raw rehearsal studio sound that we wanted to keep.
"Once recorded, the band moved onto the task of filming a video for the song. We met with Scott Kirkeeng, senior producer with East Peak Media, to discuss ideas. With Scott heading the production, Dan Brown editing, and Tatiana Peavy working the music playback, the video shoot began. We spent the day filming at The Back Lounge, a bar owned by Phil and Marta Demmel. The location must keep be confidential for fear of the California Secret Police locking us up for life. The band invited 10 friends, including Chris Collins (the guy wearing the helmet camera in the 'World In A World' video) and family members (including Sean's son, Seamus), to join in the fun as masked zombie metal maniacs. Nurse Marta 'Demmon' showed up to give the band a shot of 'OBEE-D-ENCE', which was emphatically rejected. We had a great time recording and filming the video and song, and we hope you enjoy the VIO-LENCE version of 'California Über Alles'."
This past January, VIO-LENCE parted ways with guitarist Ray Vegas and replaced him with Gustafson (ex-OVERKILL).
VIO-LENCE is currently working on material for a new EP, tentatively due in early 2021 via Metal Blade Records.
Killian previously described VIO-LENCE's new material as "a cross between 'Eternal [Nightmare]' [1988], 'Oppressing [The Masses]' [1990] and also our '93 demo. It's fast, it's heavy. We've got a couple of good chunk riffs and stuff like that," he explained. "We wanna get stuff in that's gonna start a pit up too. But we think people are gonna go crazy when they hear it. We've got some heavy lyrics, some heavy subjects. I mean, we're not a political band by any means, so when I say 'heavy,' it's just heavy shit that comes out of my demented head."
VIO-LENCE released three studio albums between 1988 and 1993. The group reunited soon after Demmel left MACHINE HEAD in late 2018.
VIO-LENCE performed its first comeback concert in April 2019 at the Oakland Metro in Oakland, California and spent the last year playing select shows in the U.S. and Europe.
Although MACHINE HEAD frontman Robb Flynn was part of VIO-LENCE's classic incarnation and played on the band's debut album, "Eternal Nightmare", he wasn't approached about taking part in any of the comeback shows.
Killian underwent a successful liver transplant surgery in March 2018. The year before, Killian was diagnosed with stage four liver cirrhosis, which was caused in part by a genetic condition called hemochromatosis.

TOM PETTY: 'Wildflowers & All The Rest' Comprehensive Collection Due In OctoberDuring Tom Petty's final interview with the Los Angeles Times, as the triumphant 40th anniversary tour with THE HEARTBREAKERS was coming to an end, he announced that his next big focus would be to finally revisit his 1994 masterpiece "Wildflowers", co-produced with Rick Rubin and Mike Campbell.
"Wildflowers" in many ways changed Tom's creative life — as a recording artist, collaborator and band leader — while a profound, personal crisis transformed the stories and emotional thrust in his songs. Tom ultimately wrote more songs than he could release at the time. In fact, Tom, Rubin and Campbell completed the album as a double CD with 25 songs, nearly two hours of music, but his label advised restraint. Released on November 1, 1994, "Wildflowers" — a single CD with 15 songs, still more than an hour in length — was Tom's most acutely confessional album to date.
The resurrection of "Wildflowers" has been a long time coming. In a 2014 interview with Rolling Stone, Tom detailed his plans for the reissue, telling the magazine: "I broke through to something else. My personal life came crashing down, and it derailed me for a while. But I was at the top of my game during that record." Then again in 2016 on SiriusXM's Tom Petty Radio, he discussed his desire for a "Wildflowers" tour to coincide with a reissue. Tom had always intended to release the second half of the album — a collection he named "All The Rest", featuring ten songs from the "Wildflowers" recording sessions that were left off the original version and five unreleased tracks (different versions of four other songs would appear on the soundtrack to the 1996 film "She's The One").
"Wildflowers & All The Rest", the long-awaited "Wildflowers" reissue and comprehensive collection, will be released on October 16 via Warner Records. Tom's vision of the project is becoming a reality due to the commitment of his loving family, bandmates and collaborators who helped unearth many previously unheard gems. The compilation was curated by Tom's daughters, Adria and Annakim Petty, and his wife Dana Petty, who call it "many, many hours of pure sonic joy," as well as HEARTBREAKERS' Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench, and was produced by Tom's longtime engineer and co-producer Ryan Ulyate. Together they stewarded the warmth Tom created through his music and relationship to his fans.
Today, "Wildflowers (Home Recording)", a solo demo version of the classic title track, is premiering alongside a video featuring never-before-seen footage of Tom at his home, shot by Martyn Atkins during the recording of "Wildflowers". The video was co-directed by Alan Bibby and Jonny Kofoed and produced by Assembly. The significance of the song was revealed in David Fricke's essay written for the liner notes of the collection: "It would be some time before he understood the complexity of 'Wildflowers'. It was, he realized, 'me singing about me.'" This morning, Mike Campbell, Adria Petty and Ryan Ulyate spoke with Fricke about the new collection and premiered the home recording on SiriusXM's Tom Petty Radio (channel 31).
"Wildflowers (Home Recording)" is available now with pre-order of the Deluxe Edition, in addition to the recently released songs "There Goes Angela (Dream Away) (Home Recording)" and "You Don't Know How It Feels (Home Recording)".
"Wildflowers & All The Rest" will be released in multiple formats. "Wildflowers & All The Rest - Deluxe Edition" features 15 recordings made by Tom in his home studio as he was writing the album. These solo demos provide an intimate look at Tom's songwriting process, where he plays all the instruments and revises lyrics as he works. The "Deluxe Edition" is rounded-off with 14 live performances of songs from "Wildflowers", recorded on various tours from 1995 to 2017. "Wildflowers & All The Rest - Super Deluxe" is a direct-to-consumer limited-edition set featuring "Finding Wildflowers" — 16 studio recordings of alternate takes of "Wildflowers" songs as Tom, band members and Rubin honed-in on the final album.
The collection features incredibly special packaging across the various formats. The "Super Deluxe Edition" is the most complete; it includes an introduction penned by Rick Rubin, the aforementioned essay written by David Fricke — "Somewhere You Feel Free: Tom Petty's Road To Wildflowers", lyrics to all the songs on "Wildflowers & All The Rest", as well as an in-depth track-by-track by Jaan Uhelszki with contributions from Rubin, Ulyate, "Wildflowers" engineer Jim Scott, HEARTBREAKERS live mixing engineer Robert Scovill, and HEARTBREAKERS' Mike Campbell, Benmont Tench and Steve Ferrone.
Adria Petty also oversaw the creative direction for the "Wildflowers" project, with original packaging illustrations by Blaze Ben Brooks, original cover beadwork by Maria Sarno, as well as "Wildflowers"-era photography by Mark Seliger, Robert Sebree and Martyn Atkins.
Tom Petty released 16 studio albums and over 180 songs over the course of his 40-year career. "Wildflowers" was the first album of a long-term renaissance. It was Petty's fastest-selling album and was certified triple platinum only nine months after its release. The album was always deeply significant to him. As proof, five of the 18 songs performed at his final live concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles came from the album. "Wildflowers" — his solo masterpiece, a personal triumph and the album Petty needed to make at that moment, at any cost — is finally here as he intended it and beyond.

Watch METALLICA Perform 'For Whom The Bell Tolls' From 'S&M2' Live Album And VideoVideo footage of METALLICA performing the song "For Whom The Bell Tolls" from the upcoming "Metallica And San Francisco Symphony: S&M²" release can be seen below.
METALLICA and San Francisco Symphony's September 6 and September 8, 2019 "S&M²" concerts were historic on multiple levels: They served as the grand opening of San Francisco's Chase Center, reunited the band and Symphony for the first time since the 1999 performances captured on the Grammy-winning "S&M" album, and featured the first-ever symphonic renditions of songs written and released since those original "S&M" shows.
The sold-out concerts were rapturously received by the 40,000 fans who traveled from nearly 70 countries, as well as the media: Rolling Stone raved "the group proved that anything was possible," Variety noted an atmosphere "buzzing with excitement," while the Mercury News witnessed "a concert that fans will be talking about for decades to come," and Consequence Of Sound hailed "a true celebration of METALLICA and their musical prowess."
On August 28, "S&M²" comes to life once more with the release of "Metallica And San Francisco Symphony: S&M²". "S&M²" will be available in a staggering array of formats, ranging from a digital album on all leading streaming outlets, to 4LP vinyl, 2CD, DVD and Blu-ray versions, to a limited edition color vinyl 4LP + 2CD + Blu-ray Deluxe Box featuring sheet music, guitar picks, poster and more, all the way up to a Metallica.com exclusive Super Deluxe Box, limited to 500 copies, each featuring actual sheet music used by the Symphony during the shows and hand-signed by all four band members (in addition to including everything in the Deluxe Box). With this long-awaited Blackened Recordings release, "S&M²" can be fully experienced by others beyond those who squeezed into the Chase Center over those two unforgettable evenings.
"S&M²" is a landmark release in the METALLICA catalog, both sonically and visually. Produced by Greg Fidelman with James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich, the "S&M²" live album captures more than two and a half hours of James, Lars, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo joining forces with the nearly 80-strong San Francisco Symphony, legendary music director of the orchestra Michael Tilson Thomas, and conductor Edwin Outwater. The concert film is a brand-new edit done by Joe Hutching ("Through The Never") and both the audio and visuals have been taken to the next level from the October 2019 theatrical version that played in over 3,700 cinemas worldwide.
The three-hour concerts were split into two parts and included a rendition of "Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth)" from METALLICA's debut album, "Kill 'Em All", performed as a solo by the Symphony bassist Scott Pingel in tribute to METALLICA's late bassist Cliff Burton.
Ulrich told Kerrang! magazine: "The 'Anesthesia' bass solo was incredible. The way the fans reacted to that was goosebump-city. I loved the dare of playing 'Iron Foundry'. I loved revisiting songs we don't play so often like 'The Outlaw Torn' and 'The Call Of Ktulu'.
"I loved how Edwin brought one sort of dynamic when he was conducting the more rock stuff, and how Michael Tilson Thomas — the maestro, the elder statesman of his world — brought in some different pieces and encouraged the fans to understand where the symphonic and rock worlds overlap.
"Most of all, though, the fact that there was no barricade stood out. When was the last time you went to a rock show of that size without one? What does that barricade do? What does it mean? It's a safety thing, but in essence it's something that separates people. I loved just being able to walk out with the fans. At one point, I leaned back and let myself go into their embrace. That was a great moment."
"S&M²" is available for pre-order now, preceded by the "S&M²" versions of "All Within My Hands" and "Nothing Else Matters", both now available across digital platforms.

JUNKOWL – “Sickness Lives” Video StreamingOozing with rock ‘n’ roll vibes, Junkowl is coming for ya out of Montreal, QC, Canada. The 2019 "En Route To Heavy Montreal Champions" are a slick combination of stoner riffs, hardcore energy, and groovy bass, who recently released their debut album Making Out With My Death this past June.
As a whole, Junkowl's debut album Making Out With My Death is a slow dark ride. Heavy riffs; big dirty bass lines, in your face drums and gut-wrenching screams telling tales of self-loathing, confusion, and intoxication. This is a solid album, something to enjoy with a few beers, smoke a joint, and bang your head off for 30 minutes.
With the state of the current world of Covid days and societal ills, Junkowl is unveiling their new music video "Sickness Lives".
Vocalist Jesse Frechette adds:
"We had a lot of fun shooting this video. It’s our second time working with Dark Moon Productions, and we’re really stoked to share this one. We chose the song 'Sickness Lives' because we found it really fit with the times. The track is about living in a sick society ruled by greed, and turning to drugs and alcohol to try and escape that reality... but now with everything going on in the world, I’m sure people will interpret it differently and we’re okay with that."
Frechette explains the lyrical content on the album: “Most of my lyrics are about past regrets or self-destructive behaviour. Kind of indulging in negative thoughts and emotions. A lot of them were written while I was wasted. I like to think that the next album will have a much different lyrical theme but hey, old habits die hard.”
"Snakecharmer"
"Quarantine Us All"
"Shake Me"
"Dead Hooker"
"Little Scum"
"Crawling Up My Feet"
"Sickness Lives"
"Relapse"
"Straitjacket"
"10,000 Vultures"

THREAT Complete Second Studio Album Human Flesh In Putrefaction; Release New Lyric Video “Necrophilia”Colombian death/thrashers Threat have completed their second album, Human Flesh In Putrefaction. DEFTONES: 'Ohms' Cover Artwork, Track Listing RevealedDEFTONES have revealed the title and release date for their long-awaited new album.
The band's ninth studio LP will be called "Ohms" and will arrive on September 25, as first confirmed by a billboard for the album, the latitude and longitude coordinates for which DEFTONES tweeted on Wednesday (August 19). The follow-up to 2016's "Gore" was helmed by Terry Date, who produced such DEFTONES classics as "Around The Fur", "White Pony" and the group's self-titled album.
"Ohms" track listing:
01. Genesis
02. Ceremony
03. Urantia
04. Errorr
05. The Spell Of Mathematics
06. Pompeji
07. This Link Is Dead
08. Radiant City
09. Headless
10. Ohms
A snippet of the "Ohms" title track can be streamed below.
DEFTONES singer Chino Moreno told Kerrang! magazine that "Ohms" was a more collaborative effort than "Gore", which saw guitarist Stephen Carpenter largely excluded from the production process.
"When you've made a lot of records with the same people, everybody has to be engaged," Moreno said. "We've learned the hard way. A perfect example would be 'Gore', when Stef basically admitted, like, 'I didn't have much to do with this record.' And that was not because we didn't want him — my favorite ideas of DEFTONES songs are ones that he spearheads."
He added: "When the record came out, I think people felt that Stef wasn't as big a part of it and that it may have suffered in certain areas because of that, so one of the most important things [with the new album] is that everybody is engaged and everybody is excited."
DEFTONES have released eight studio albums to date and have sold over ten million albums worldwide. The band is Moreno, Carpenter, drummer Abe Cunningham, programmer Frank Delgado and bassist Sergio Vega.
This past May, DEFTONES postponed their 2020 North American tour due to the coronavirus pandemic sweeping the globe. The Live Nation-produced 20-date trek with GOJIRA and POPPY was scheduled to kick off on July 27 and conclude on September 5.
"Gore" bowed at No. 2 on the Billboard Top 200 in 2016, moving over 71,000 units first week and marking DEFTONES' highest chart position in 13 years. 3

THE OCEAN Share Music Video For New Single "Oligocene"On September 25, The Ocean will release their 8th full-length, Phanerozoic II: Mesozoic | Cenozoic, via Metal Blade Records (CD / digital) and the band's own Pelagic Records (vinyl).
In 2018, The Ocean released Phanerozoic I: Palaeozoic - the first half of a sprawling but superbly cohesive paleontology concept album. Now, the group is ready to release the concluding parts of the Phanerozoic journey.
For a preview of Phanerozoic II: Mesozoic | Cenozoic, a video for the new single "Oligocene" (filmed by band members Loic Rossetti, David Ahfeldt and Robin Staps, plus edited and animated by Craig Murray) can be seen below.
The video was shot in the Aragats mountains in Armenia, during the band's Siberian Traps tour in the summer of 2019, which brought them to Russia, Kazachstan, Armenia, Georgia and Japan.
"We found this place by accident: the dilapidated ruins of a soviet observatory & research station for cosmic radiation," comments guitarist and founding member Robin Staps. "The building itself looked like a spaceship that had crash-landed up high in the mountains, but there were lots of interesting structures scattered across the landscape: concrete cubes, underground tunnels, rusted machinery, fallen power poles and watchtowers. It all looked like taken straight out of Andrej Tarkovsky's 'Stalker' movie," concludes Staps, referring to the ingenious classic that was also the backbone of The Ocean's 2013 album Pelagial.
The instrumental track was written by drummer Paul Seidel, but recorded with synth player Peter Voigtmann on drums. It serves as a transitional track from the busy and heavy first half of the record (Mesozoic) into the more relaxed, spacious and cold ambient vibes prevailing on the second half of the record (Cenozoic).
The new album can be preordered on MetalBlade.com in the following formats:
- Deluxe edition CD (tri-fold digipak)
- Instrumental CD (Remus spine digipak w/ UV gloss)
- Box set completion bundle (tri-fold vocal version CD digipak, instrumental version CD digipak, 2 posters, pin, and sticker)
* Exclusive bundles with shirts and merch items, plus digital options are also available!
Widely hailed as their finest work to date, Phanerozoic I brimmed with moments of wide-eyed melodic brilliance, alongside the expected warping and weaving of post-metal conventions. "The first part of Phanerozoic really is a 'no-regrets' album, which is quite rare," says guitarist Robin Staps. "Maybe even the first time I can ever say that."
In contrast with the compositional directness of Phanerozoic I, the new album - Phanerozoic II: Mesozoic | Cenozoic - is a vastly more progressive and perverse piece of work. "Phanerozoic II is more experimental, more eclectic in musical style and direction, and more varied in terms of tempos, beats, guitar work and the use of electronics," notes Staps. "This was an intentional choice: we wanted Part I to feel rather streamlined and to have a strong cohesion between the individual songs. We wanted to create a certain vibe to linger from the first until the last note throughout the whole record. We kept the weirder, more daring and more progressive material for Part II."
Tracked in Iceland, Spain and Germany and produced by esteemed studio guru Jens Bogren, Phanerozoic II is underpinned by some of the most imaginative and challenging music that The Ocean - completed by drummer Paul Seidel, keyboard maestro Peter Voigtmann, bassist Mattias Hagerstrand and guitarist David Ramis Åhfeldt - have made yet. Divided into two sections - Mesozoic and Cenozoic - the album once again showcases the detail and depth that have become two of The Ocean's most enduring trademarks. While ostensibly delving into the extraordinary realities of the Earth's shifting temporal tides, Staps and his comrades have long drawn hazy parallels between their chosen subjects and the emotional experiences that their music strives to convey. Phanerozoic II is essentially an album about time, with some very poignant and pointed allusions to the modern world woven into the new music's spiritual fabric.
Staps explains, "The outcome is a record that is a real journey. It starts in one place, and concludes in a totally different place. In a way, it relates to 2013's Pelagial, which was similar in that it was also a journey: but a more guided, focused and predictable one. Phanerozoic II on the other hand is closer to the experience of free fall."

ANTHRAX Release Persistence Of Time 30th Anniversary, Episode #7: "Bring The Noise II"; VideoThis Friday, the 30th anniversary deluxe edition of Anthrax's fifth studio album, Persistence Of Time, will be released. Episode Three: "Iron Maiden":
Episode Four: "Married With Children":
Episode Five: "Tour Stories":
Episode Six: "Process":
On August 21, 2020, 30 years to the day after its initial launch, Anthrax will celebrate with the release of the deluxe anniversary edition of their fifth studio album, the Gold-certified Persistence Of Time, produced by Anthrax and Mark Dodson (Megaforce). Available exclusively on disc and vinyl, the CD package will include two CDs and one DVD, the vinyl edition offers four LPs, as well as revised cover art that reflects what had been the album's original visual concept. Pre-orders can be placed here.
As with Anthrax's previous anniversary deluxe editions, the band's Charlie Benante shepherded the one for Persistence Of Time. Disc One is comprised of the 11-track album, fully-remastered by Paul Logus (who mastered Anthrax's Worship Music and For All Kings. the Anthems EP, and the DVDs Kings Among Scotland and Chile on Hell). Disc One also features a special "bonus B-side" version of "I'm The Man" from 1990 that leans more hip-hop than rock, and a live version of "Time" that was recorded at Michigan's Palace of Auburn Hills in 1991. The final two songs on Disc One, as well as all nine tracks on Disc Two, are special recordings from "Charlie's Stash," an incomparable wealth of Anthrax music from the band's rehearsals, writing sessions, preproduction, and live performances that Benante has recorded over the past 40 years and has been kept safely filed away. These recordings will put listeners "in the room" with the band, privy to the evolution of the songs on Persistence Of Time starting with Benante's original riffs and demos for the songs, moving on to Frank Bello, Scott Ian, Joey Belladonna, Dan Spitz, and Benante shaping the songs in rehearsal, then into preproduction, and finally into the recording studio. Said Benante, "you'll hear parts of songs that never made it to the final recording or songs with an arrangement different from the finished song."
The 40-minute "guerilla-style" DVD was shot when Anthrax was on tour with Iron Maiden in 1991 and features live footage of Benante taking over the drums for Iron Maiden's Nick McBrain, as well as backstage and dressing room footage with members of both bands. The piece wraps with Benante, Bello, and Ian joining Iron Maiden on stage for the final song of the night, "Sanctuary."
Check out the first single/music video from album's 1990 release, "Got The Time":
With revealing liner notes written by Scott Ian that pull back the curtain on some of the incidents that fueled the album's lyrical content, the artwork showcases a selection of mementos from the Persistence Of Time cycle: script pages from the band's 1992 "My Dinner with Anthrax" episode of the TV sitcom "Married With Children," band photos and magazine covers, backstage passes, and an assortment of vintage promo items. Also, the deluxe package's cover art has been revised. Explained Benante, who also oversees all of Anthrax's artwork, "We had been a band for only about five years, but so much had been and continued to be crammed into those few years, and we realized we couldn't stop time, it was just persistent. Simultaneously, I was at the height of my Salvador Dali phase, I was just absorbed in his art, and I wanted to tie the two together - Salvador Dali and time. I loved what [artist] Don Brautigam did with the original cover, but for this deluxe edition, I wanted it the way I had originally seen the cover in my head - with the clock melting, so that's what we did."
"Recording the vocals for this album was a great experience," said vocalist Joey Belladonna. " I really liked working with Steve Thompson and Mark Barbiero, everything came together nicely, we all became good friends. And it was great to work in Manhattan again, especially at Electric Lady Studios. That place has such an aura, recording in the same place where Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, and Led Zeppelin did, it was a really cool experience."
"One of the things I'll never forget from the 'Persistence Of Time' tours," added Frank Bello, "was when we played the songs 'Time' and 'Got The Time' live. We had this big clock on our stage, the 'Persistence Of Time' clock, and the hands on this clock went around and around while we played the songs 'Time" and "Got The Time." Today, something like that would be motorized, but back in 1990, it had to be done manually using a hand crank on the back of the clock. My bass tech from that time, Troy, it was his job to keep those hands turning during those two songs, throughout the entire songs. I mean, what a workout that guy got from turning that crank."
"It was a weird time for us for a number of reasons," added Benante, "but at the same time, a lot of great things happened. We did 'Married with Children,' we toured with Slayer and Megadeth on the 'Clash of the Titans Tour," and we recorded 'Bring The Noise' with Public Enemy, and that turned everything around."

AD INFINITUM Premier "Fire And Ice" Music VideoSymphonic metal fire-starters, Ad Infinitum, have released an atmospheric music video for “Fire And Ice”, cut from their debut album, Chapter I: Monarchy, out now via Napalm Records. Watch below.
The video was taken from a very special concert in order to satiate the desire for dearly missed live performances, and even showcases some exclusive behind the scenes material. The full show will be available for streaming beginning October 9.
“Fire And Ice” marks another epos that represents the band’s diversity and passion for what love doing the most. The energetic and equally melodic tunes of the vigorous ballad perfectly illustrate the heart-wrenching tones of Ad Infinitum.
Ad Infinitum on “Fire And Ice”: “2020 started with its amount of disappointments. Our plans got cancelled and we were very sad that we couldn’t present our debut album the way we initially wanted to. But in the end not being able to play live shows in front of an audience forced us to be more creative and to produce more content to share with the world! And that’s what we did. 'Fire And Ice' is the first result of this work. Other surprises will come later this year including a complete live show on October 9th!”
