Since their first appearance together in 2009 when QUEEN members Brian May and Roger Taylor appeared as guests on the finale of the eighth season of "American Idol" on which Adam Lambert was a contestant, the combination of QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT has gone from strength to strength becoming one of the world's biggest drawing touring bands. Their most recent tour of Oceania saw them selling out to massive audiences, with a single show at Sydney's ANZ stadium drawing a record crowd of over 60,000. To date the band has played to a worldwide audience approaching four million.

Had this been different times, Brian, Roger and Adam would have just ended a further tour with a colossal run of 27 shows across nine European countries. However, the arrival of COVID-19 forced their imminent European summer tour to be postponed until next year. With this in mind, QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT looked to other ways to console the almost half a million disappointed fans already holding tickets. This is when they turned first to YouTube. No strangers to the platform with 12.5 million subscribers already following them, the band presented a special QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT "Tour Watch Party", an hour-long show of live highlights from previous tours across the world. The positive engagement from fans worldwide showed that despite the global blackout of live shows, the show could still go on. But it wasn't just the 500,000+ viewing fans who were impressed, so were the band themselves.

"We hadn't really watched those clips before; we were always too busy touring," says Taylor. "We weren't aware of how good the band sounded. So we thought, well, maybe there's a live album of highlights of concerts that we've done over the last eight years with Adam Lambert to be made."

As hinted at in interviews recently, QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT have now confirmed they will release their first-ever live album, "Live Around The World". The release comes worldwide October 2 in CD, CD+DVD, CD+Blu-ray and vinyl formats.

The set presents a compilation of concert highlights captured the world over personally selected by Taylor, May and Lambert from over 200 shows they have performed with several featured here becoming available for the very first time. These cover concerts from Rock In Rio, Lisbon, to the U.K.'s Isle Of Wight festival, Summer Sonic, Japan, selected U.K. and North America tour dates, and — from one of their very last performances before lockdown — the Fire Fight Australia benefit show. All formats include the band's entire 22-minute Fire Fight Australia appearance in which they performed QUEEN's original history-making 1985 Live Aid set in full: "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Radio Ga Ga", "Hammer To Fall", "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", "We Will Rock You" and "We Are The Champions". While even Freddie Mercury's iconic Ay-Ohs feature.

The 20 tracks featured include firm QUEEN fan favorites like "Don't Stop Me Now" and "I Want To Break Free" as well as rarities such as their versions of the Freddie Mercury-penned "Love Kills" and "I Was Born To Love You". The live album comes in CD, CD+DVD, CD+Blu-ray and vinyl versions, with the DVD and Blu-ray featuring extra performance footage which include a Roger Taylor "Drum Battle" with drummer son Rufus Taylor, and Brian May "Last Horizon" guitar solo.

May said of the historic live album: "As we all grapple with the challenge of creating live shows in a world dominated by a formidable viral enemy, it seemed the perfect time for us to create a collection of hand-picked live highlights from our QUEEN shows over the last seven years with our brother Adam Lambert.

"It's a first! As you watch and listen to these tracks you'll be journeying all around the world with us, and experiencing a complete virtual live set. The collection climaxes in Sydney earlier this year when, in support Fire Fight Australia, we recreated the complete QUEEN Live Aid set. It was a historic event for a great cause — with perhaps the highest adrenaline level since the original Live Aid in 1985. It makes me particularly happy that we can now share this unique moment with the whole world."

Lambert added: "When we couldn't tour this year, we wanted to give the fans something in place of that, and a live album just felt right. It's the first time we have released an album together, and we have had a lot of fun putting it together, picking out favorite performances over the past seven years."

QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT's only previously released track, their lockdown version of "You Are The Champions", with all the proceeds going towards the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organization, was viewed close to four million times in its first month on YouTube.

QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT's postponed 27-date European "Rhapsody" tour is now rescheduled to begin May 23, 2021, in Bologna, Italy, with its final date to be played in Madrid, Spain, on July 7. The full set of dates includes a 10-day residency at London's The O2 Arena in June.

During a conversation with Ultimate Guitar's Justin Beckner, guitar legend Paul Gilbert (Mr. Big, Racer X) looked back on the early days, how he used to give lessons to young Brian Patrick Carroll - who went on to become Buckethead - and being roommates with young Russ Parish who went on to become Steel Panther's Satchel. Following is an excerpt from the chat.

UG: We were talking recently with Satchel; I'm told you used to live with him. What was he like as a guitar player and a roommate back in the day?

Gilbert: "Oh man, I guess I'll call him Satchel because that's his official name. He was a student at GIT. So he'd come in and he played great and he was funny. I was on tour with Mr. Big all the time and he would keep an eye on my house, so he was essentially my roommate. I would come home from being on tour for three months, and I had told him that if he wanted to use my studio gear to go ahead, and he made these demos that sounded so good. I asked him, 'What did you do? My demos don't sound anything like that. You're making records in here.' When I make a demo it sounds like doggy doo and his sounded like the first Boston album. And he was just like, 'I just worked on it.' So him using my gear and recording demos that sounded that good made me realize that maybe I should put a little more care into the demos I was making.

I tended to use it like a sketchpad and Russ would spend the time and make these beautiful demos. We ended up doing a cover band together for fun. Sometimes I would play bass and he would play guitar and we'd switch. We just learned a lot of songs. We'd book a gig a week out and try to learn 25 songs by then. We would do it and just have the best time. It was nice hanging with musicians and Russ is a great one... or Satchel, sorry."

After his recent move to Portland, Oregon, Paul set out to connect with the best and grooviest musicians in the area, and record an album in his brand-new hometown. Brian Foxworth (drums) and Asher Fulero (keyboards) were both obvious choices to play Paul's mix of rock, blues, jazz, and pop flavors. When Paul's regular Portland bassist Kelly Lemieux was unavailable (due to his touring with Buckcherry), Paul reached out to New Orleans bass legend, Roland Guerin. Roland came to Portland weeks before the recording dates for intense rehearsing and arranging sessions.

With the band complete, Paul enlisted legendary producer and engineer John Cuniberti. John is well known for his work with Joe Satriani, but Paul was primarily interested in John's expertise with "one mic" recording. Paul explains, "It's so easy to make albums with overdubbing and editing these days, but I really prefer playing live and just getting the music to sound right because the musicians, the songs, and the performances are good." After hearing Paul's band, John recommended a few more mics, but still agreed that the music worked best as live performances with no overdubs. "There is not one overdub on the record. Everything you hear is four guys jamming, listening to each other, and making room for each other. The music almost mixes itself that way! And it's just a great mindset to have. When you know that you won't be fixing or adding parts later... It keeps your mind very active to get things right!"

In celebration of 50 years of Thin Lizzy, Universal have announced the Rock Legends box set, the first instalment of an archive release programme for the Irish rock staples. The news comes on what would have been the 71st birthday of frontman Phil Lynott, born on August 20, 1949.

The box set, to be released on October 23, is a six-CD, one DVD Super Deluxe Edition containing a mammoth 99 tracks in total. Seventy-four of these are previously unreleased and 83 of them have never been available on CD or to stream.

The material embraces Lizzy’s entire career and has been newly mastered by Andy Pearce. The wide array of unreleased material include demos, radio sessions, live recordings and rare single edits. The tracklisting for Rock Legends has been compiled by Thin Lizzy’s celebrated guitarist Scott Gorham along with band expert Nick Sharp. It embraces a collection of newly-discovered tapes, most of which have never been heard.

The box set will be housed in a 10” x 6” slipcase, and as well as the six CDs it contains a DVD with the hour-long BBC documentary Bad Reputation. Also featured is Lizzy’s performance on the Rod Stewart A Night On The Town television special of 1976.

Other treats in the set include replicas of the band’s tour programmes, bound into a hardback book; the much sought-after Phil Lynott poetry books; four prints by Lizzy cover artist Jim Fitzpatrick; and a book featuring quotes by all the members of the band about their experiences playing with Phil Lynott and Thin Lizzy.

The book also highlights numerous stars from the world of music and beyond talking about their love of Thin Lizzy. They include Slash, Lemmy, Joe Elliot, Geddy Lee, James Hetfield, Ian Gillan, Henry Rollins, Billy Corgan, Bobby Gillespie, Craig Finn and tennis stars John McEnroe and Pat Cash.

Vocalist Fernando Ribeiro of Portuguese metallers MOONSPELL spoke to Finland's Kaaos TV about how he and his bandmates are dealing with the coronavirus pandemic. He said (see video below): "There was a time that we had to be distant from each other for at least a couple of months and work from home. And then, [about] two months ago, we resumed work with MOONSPELL. We did demos for the new album that we're going to record in October, and also we played together with the new drummer. And also, we did two TV shows — one for the national TV, because it was a way of the national TV to help the musicians; they paid us a little fee, and we went there to play like a showcase — five songs — that is going to be ready in September… We did another show to create a kind of live thing already so we can present it to people on our network and also on our site. And on the 20th of August, we are going to play our first live show to a very limited audience that will be sitting down and wearing masks. We're probably going to France as well, if we can travel.

"It's very weird times, but we're doing, here and there, some plans," he explained. "We also have a plan to do a live streaming, [like] a lot of bands are doing, so we don't disappear completely off the radar of our fans, because they miss seeing us live, obviously, or most of them do. But also we didn't want to rush things. We toured a lot these past few years. Especially between October and December, we did a very comprehensive tour of Europe, which our main crowd is in Europe. We've been in the States last year as well with DARK TRANQUILLITY and AMORPHIS and OMNIUM GATHERUM. So it's not like I thought that everybody was expecting us to do something. But I think nowadays with the development of the virus and the travel restrictions being lifted, et cetera, we're going to do more stuff."

MOONSPELL will record its new LP with producer Jaime Gomez Arellano (PARADISE LOST, ULVER, GHOST). An early 2021 release via Napalm Records is expected. The upcoming LP will be the band's first with Hugo Ribeiro (no relation to Fernando) who replaced original drummer Miguel "Mike" Gaspar earlier in the year.

Asked if Hugo is involved in the songwriting process for the new MOONSPELL album, Fernando said: "Yeah, he's involved. Of course, we had a lot of the ideas already in our minds. Once we split up with Mike, we wanted to give it a renewal of the ideas, especially when it came to the part of the drums, so we kind of threw a lot of stuff out and put new ideas together — not just for the drums, but for all the other instruments."

MOONSPELL's latest release was the "Lisboa Under The Spell" live DVD/CD, which came out in August 2018 via Napalm Records. The live DVD/Blu-ray/3CD package captured MOONSPELL's performance before 4,000 fans at the sold-out Campo Pequeno arena in their hometown of Lisbon, Portugal on February 4, 2017.

MOONSPELL's fourth album, 1999's "The Butterfly Effect", was re-released on August 7 via Napalm Records. The reissue includes two new remixes, a completely re-designed cover and layout artwork, as well as an exclusive excerpt from the Butterfly FX chapter of the band's official biography, "Wolves Who Were Men".

MOONSPELL's most recent studio album, "1755", came out in November 2017. The Portuguese-language disc was written about the 1755 Lisbon earthquake, also known as the Great Lisbon earthquake, which occurred in the Kingdom of Portugal. In combination with subsequent fires and a tsunami, the earthquake almost totally destroyed Lisbon and adjoining areas.

DEF LEPPARD vocalist Joe Elliott, SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor, GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash and FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH singer Ivan Moody are among the musicians who are featured on the new version of the SIXX:A.M. song "Maybe It's Time". The track is the cornerstone of an industry-wide initiative to draw attention to the opioid crisis and raise funds to serve the recovery community and save lives. Timed to launch National Recovery Month in September, this campaign leverages all manners of entertainment to send an important message of hope for recovery, starting on International Overdose Awareness Day (August 31) and continuing through International Recovery Day (September 30).

The idea for the song, featuring a who's who lineup of rock, country and alternative stars, was conceived by Nikki Sixx, co-founder of MÖTLEY CRÜE and SIXX:A.M., recovery spokesperson and advocate, and one of the leading public figures fighting to destigmatize substance use disorders and recovery. All artist royalties from the song are being donated to the Global Recovery Initiatives foundation (GRI) to support those in early recovery, with a matching contribution from Better Noise Music.

Says Sixx: "I am proud to bring together these artists to help raise funds for the Global Recovery Initiative foundation. The opioid epidemic did not go away when the pandemic came along. Just the opposite... those in early recovery became even more at risk than before so it's more important now than ever to raise awareness and support them. I really believe that united we can make a difference and save lives."

Major entertainment industry companies, including Live Nation, Ticketmaster, iHeart, Pandora, SiriusXM, Entercom and many others, have come together on this project to raise awareness and save lives. Allen Kovac, CEO of Better Noise Entertainment, explains: "Label and studio heads know there is nothing sadder than when an artist or actor you've worked with passes away due to substance use disorders. This initiative is a wakeup call to the entertainment industry that we can't lose more legends like Prince, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Tom Petty and Michael Jackson."

Elliott explained: "So, Nikki rang me to see if I'd lend a vocal to 'Maybe It's Time'. After hearing the track for the first time in a while, I was reminded how good it is, so I was in. It felt right, all around, giving back to the much-needed Global Recovery Initiative."

The song is also featured on the soundtrack for the upcoming Better Noise Films release "Sno Babies". The film, out on video on demand September 29, depicts the grim realities of teen-age addiction and its effects on a middle-class suburban town. "Sno Babies" shows how easy it can be to both miss and hide the signs of addiction behind the facade of "good" neighborhoods and busy communities. Better Noise Films' share of profits is also being donated to GRI.

The film aims to help start the difficult conversation within families about substance use disorders.

"Alcoholism and drug addiction are family diseases. They're the only diseases that everyone is mad at and hurt if you have it," explained Tommy Vext, vocalist of BAD WOLVES and sober coach. "People don't get upset at you if you get cancer. It's because with addiction, it affects everyone whose life touches the sufferer." BAD WOLVES' hit song "Sober" is also featured on the film's soundtrack, which is available September 4.

Taylor said of his participation in the project: "It's a real issue… It's affecting young people more and more every year, so it's very, very important for all of us to pitch in and do our part, especially some of us who have lived through it…those of us who have survived… It's the least I can do."

The original version of "Maybe It's Time" appeared on SIXX:A.M.'s latest album, "Vol. 2, Prayers For The Blessed", which was released in November 2016 via Eleven Seven Music. The disc was written and recorded at the same time as "Vol. 1, Prayers For The Damned", released earlier that same year, and it acted as a companion piece to the first chapter.

The emergence of COVID-19 has exacerbated the epidemic of substance use disorders worldwide. Being trapped in our homes has amplified our need for community and resources to fight the battle against addiction. The National Institute On Drug Abuse's (NIDA) director Dr. Nora Volkow recently said: "For the past three or four months when COVID-19 hit, we don't have accurate numbers of what the consequences are doing to the overdose fatalities, but from what we hear, it's estimated that there's at least a 20% increase in the number of calls to the agencies reporting spikes in overdoses." She attributes this to the loss of support systems. As much as there has been awareness raised about the growing opioid crisis and addiction, there have been few initiatives created to address the issue, head-on, at a scale needed to have the necessary impact.

At a recent Summit Of Recovery Researchers, vice admiral Jerome M. Adams, U.S. Surgeon General, emphasized: "We need local support services for people in early recovery because the protocols of COVID-19 requires isolation and reduces access to support services needed, which is the opposite of what is needed to reduce reuse."

The Global Recovery Initiatives foundation is the first and only national community foundation dedicated to building a philanthropic source of funding for organizations to expand their capacity to provide people with Substance Use Disorders (SUD) recovery support systems and services to combat the growing problem. GRI's goal is to deploy 1,000 Recovery Corps workers into communities to provide peer support and access to services for those in early recovery. GRI supports organizations using evidence-based programs that have demonstrated success in: engagement of philanthropy leaders to invest in recovery focused non-profit initiatives, reducing the stigma around substance use disorders and recovery, and deployment of public, private and pop culture resources to strengthen the field of recovery.

Global Recovery Initiatives foundation board member Nikki Sixx is an international rock icon, founding member of global multi-platinum rock act MÖTLEY CRÜE and SIXX:A.M., and three-time New York Times best-selling author with "The Heroin Diaries", "This Is Gonna Hurt" and MÖTLEY CRÜE's "The Dirt", which was recently adapted into a Netflix film. Frankie was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer on April 17, 2019 and given six months to live. He put up an inspiringly brave and courageous 16-month battle to the end and continued playing live as long as he could. Standard chemotherapy stopped working and a series of strokes made the continuation on a clinical trial impossible. He ultimately lost the fight at 7:18 p.m. on August 20 in Los Angeles surrounded by his wife and daughter.

Frankie is survived by his devoted wife Regina, loving daughter Ashley, many dear friends, dedicated fans, and a menagerie of rescue animals, all of whom are family. He was a longtime advocate for animal rescue, a spokesperson for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, and a sponsor of Children International. Donations in his name are encouraged for Fixnation.org, Aspca.org, Pancan.org, or Children.org. His wish for everyone is that you be your own health advocate for early detection so you may live long and rescue many animals.

Funeral plans will be announced at a later date.

Banali was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer after going to the emergency room for shortness of breath, leg pain and loss of energy. A scan of his lungs caught an image of his liver, which is where the first spots were seen. Then came the discovery of a tumor on his pancreas.

He had been in treatment since the spring of last year and recently completed his 21st round of chemotherapy with the hopes of shrinking or controlling the cancer.

Banali resurrected QUIET RIOT in 2010, three years after the death of founding member DuBrow.

I don’t know what to say. I loved this man. He along with Rudy and Kevin who are not only I always felt or feel comfortable with and consider to be people I really trust but they are also my heroes and I admire their accomplishments and their human skills . In early June, Banali told SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk" about his cancer battle: "I'm still fighting the good fight. I'm still doing the chemotherapy. I switched to a different chemotherapy a few months ago. And the side effects on this one are pretty brutal, and they pretty much last into the next round of chemo. So you kind of don't get a break for about three weeks, and then you get about maybe 10 days off, and then the cycle starts again. But it's part of what I'm doing."

Asked if doctors are seeing positive results from the chemotherapy, Banali replied: "It really depends on any given cycle, whether things are going up or whether things are reducing. The situation that I'm in is not a sprint, really — it is the longest race I can possibly make out of my situation. So you have to be really, really careful how you read into some of these things, because something can look elevated, but then if you look at a scan — one of my internal scans — it's not as bad as the numbers say. But it's a deadly disease — there's no question about it — and I know that that's what eventually is gonna kill me. In the meantime, I'm just trying to put that day off as far back as I possibly can."

Banali also talked about how his latest chemotherapy sessions caused him to lose his trademark hair. He said: "I knew that when we were switching from the first chemo formula that we were doing for almost a year to the new chemo formula, I knew in advance that the different formula was really gonna wipe out the hair. So right now you probably wouldn't recognize me because not only did it take all the hair on the top of my head, but it took my beard, my eyebrows, my eyelashes. Let me put it to you this way: I have just really improved my Olympic swimming chances with the loss of body hair."

Banali went public with his diagnosis last October, writing in a social media post that the cancer treatment had forced him to miss several live shows with the band. He was replaced at those gigs by either Johnny Kelly (DANZIG, TYPE O NEGATIVE) or Mike Dupke (W.A.S.P.), depending on each musician's availability.

QUIET RIOT's shows last year with Kelly and Dupke marked the first time ever that the band performed without any of the members from its classic lineup: Banali, singer Kevin DuBrow, guitarist Carlos Cavazo and bassist Rudy Sarzo.

Banali played his first show with QUIET RIOT since he announced his cancer diagnosis in October at the Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, California.

The drummer resurrected QUIET RIOT in 2010, three years after the death of founding member DuBrow.

CARCASS's new album, "Torn Arteries", was originally scheduled for release on August 7 but was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic which is sweeping the globe.

The name of the follow-up to 2013's "Surgical Steel" was revealed by guitarist Bill Steer in an interview with Australia's Heavy.

According to Steer, the title of the new CARCASS LP stems from a demo tape that the band's founding drummer Ken Owen recorded when he was still a teenager. "He had a fictitious band called TORN ARTERIES and he recorded everything himself in his bedroom — guitar, and he'd actually bang on boxes and kind of scream into the mic," Bill explained. "And the whole thing was so distorted, it kind of sounded super heavy, even though essentially you were listening to a guy with a Spanish guitar and a couple of boxes. I think Jeff [Walker, CARCASS bassist/vocalist] appreciates the connection to the past and the fact that it was another Ken Owen classic. So that was his choice, really, and it stuck."

Steer went on to say that the "Torn Arteries" title is an homage of sorts to Owen, who suffered a brain hemorrhage in 1999 and hasn't actively played with CARCASS for more than two decades.

"I can't remember when this came up, but we were doing some press conference at a festival, and I think we all kind of agreed that even though Ken isn't playing in the band as such right now, he's kind of involved in everything we do, stylistically, because when he was so unique — when he was playing drums, his approach was just totally different," Steer said. "Also, the riffs he came up with, they were just really far out there. They were loads of fun to learn. I still think, as a guitar player, some of the stuff was very unorthodox and it was quite a challenge. That kind of influence still runs through what we do today. Just as a friendship thing, we're all still in touch regularly, and it's just been great to see Ken's life stabilizing. Basically, he has a good standard of living and he's a happy guy."

Asked how long it took to record the new CARCASS album, Bill said: "I couldn't really tell you, because it was done in several chunks, and it was the first time we've really done this. In the past, there'd be one session, or maybe a couple of long sessions, whereas this was a week here and a week there. So it did feel like a long time. I [couldn't tell you] exactly how many days or weeks that was. Obviously, quality control is a huge factor with us, 'cause you want the thing to be as good as it can be. And the fact that we don't record with a click track, the whole thing is not on a grid, so you can't copy and paste a verse or a chorus, like some bands might do. And that's a good thing, but it also means you've gotta spend longer [recording everything]."

Steer also confirmed that the new CARCASS song "Under The Scalpel Blade", which was released last December as a digital single, will appear on the group's upcoming seventh LP.

"I think it's one of the more conservative tunes off the album," the guitarist said. "There aren't really many elements in that song that are brand new to CARCASS. If you're gonna pick it apart and analyze it, there's definitely things that remind the listener of things we might have done in the past. For various reasons, it appeared to be the best song to put out there first. It's also one of the safer numbers on the album, I would say."

Steer also talked about the addition of second guitarist Tom Draper (POUNDER, ex-ANGEL WITCH, PRIMITAI), who made his live debut with CARCASS in March 2018 at the Netherlands Deathfest at 013 in Tilburg.

"[Tom] is from Southern England, but for the last few years, he's been living in California," Bill said. "Yeah, he's just been a really great addition to the group. He's incredibly organized and methodical. His attention to detail is very impressive, because it takes a lot of patience and a long attention span to learn this type of stuff and really nail the nuances. But, yeah, that's totally his bag — he's been into that kind of thing. He's just great to have onboard."

Asked if Tom has contributed at all to the songwriting on "Torn Arteries", Bill said: "Nah. To be honest, the bulk of the material was written a very long time ago. Once we were up and running, we added to that. Given the history of the band, the fact that it goes back so far, to the '80s, it's kind of a difficult thing to bring in a new guitar player and expect him to be a contributor. 'Cause live is one thing, but the studio is like a microscope kind of situation where everything, stylistically, becomes very, very noticeable. That was the same thing that happened with 'Surgical'. Some people perhaps didn't see the sleeve notes or read the sleeve notes, but they had the impression that there were two guitarists on the record, but there weren't. It's such a lengthy process recording this type of music, or at least with this band — I assume it's probably the same for other bands in our genre — but it's just one thing that makes things move a little bit quicker, if you've got one guitar player doing as much as possible."

"Surgical Steel" sold around 8,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 41 on The Billboard 200 chart.

The band's ninth studio LP will arrive on September 25. The follow-up to 2016's "Gore" was helmed by Terry Date, who produced such DEFTONES classics as "Around The Fur", "White Pony" and the group's self-titled album. It was recorded at Henson Studios in Los Angeles, California, and Trainwreck Studios in Woodinville, Washington.

DEFTONES singer Chino Moreno told Kerrang! magazine that "Ohms" was a more collaborative effort than "Gore", which saw guitarist Stephen Carpenter largely excluded from the production process.

"When you've made a lot of records with the same people, everybody has to be engaged," Moreno said. "We've learned the hard way. A perfect example would be 'Gore', when Stef basically admitted, like, 'I didn't have much to do with this record.' And that was not because we didn't want him — my favorite ideas of DEFTONES songs are ones that he spearheads."

He added: "When the record came out, I think people felt that Stef wasn't as big a part of it and that it may have suffered in certain areas because of that, so one of the most important things [with the new album] is that everybody is engaged and everybody is excited."

DEFTONES have released eight studio albums to date and have sold over ten million albums worldwide. The band is Moreno, Carpenter, drummer Abe Cunningham, programmer Frank Delgado and bassist Sergio Vega.

This past May, DEFTONES postponed their 2020 North American tour due to the coronavirus pandemic sweeping the globe. The Live Nation-produced 20-date trek with GOJIRA and POPPY was scheduled to kick off on July 27 and conclude on September 5.

"Gore" bowed at No. 2 on the Billboard Top 200 in 2016, moving over 71,000 units first week and marking DEFTONES' highest chart position in 13 years.

Finnish cello rockers APOCALYPTICA have collaborated with HALESTORM frontwoman Lzzy Hale on their new single, "Talk To Me". The track, which has just been released digitally, can be streamed below.

APOCALYPTICA's Eicca Toppinen stated: "After years of friendship, we are more than happy to release a song together with the amazing Lzzy of HALESTORM.

"This song has been in our minds for quite some time and we have been waiting for the right moment to finish it, and getting Lzzy to join us and perform in her outstanding way was a dream come true.

APOCALYPTICA's latest studio album, "Cell-0", came out in January. The effort was the band's first fully instrumental record in 17 years.

2015's "Shadowmaker" was APOCALYPTICA's first album to feature just one singer — former SCARS ON BROADWAY guitarist Franky Perez — instead of guest collaborators. The disc was recorded with Grammy Award-winning producer Nick Raskulinecz (FOO FIGHTERS, DEFTONES, MASTODON).

Prior to enlisting Perez, APOCALYPTICA released eight albums that melded the classically trained cello mastery of the three core bandmembers with the harder elements of the rock world, including drums and guest vocalists, such as Gavin Rossdale from BUSH, and Corey Taylor of SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR fame.

Back in 2018, APOCALYPTICA's Eicca Toppinen stated about the band's decision to make an all-instrumental album at this point in the group's career: "On the previous ones, we always combined the instrumental songs with the vocal songs, and it was great to have the featuring artists, it was great to work with Frank Perez for the 'Shadowmaker' album. But then, on the other hand, it became a bigger interest for us, like, okay, it would be interesting to make a full instrumental album, so there's no compromise with anything."

Polish extreme metallers BEHEMOTH have announced "In Absentia Dei", a groundbreaking immersive livestream spectacular which will broadcast on September 5 from a secret church location in Poland. BEHEMOTH's latest EP, "A Forest", was released on May 29 via Metal Blade. The EP's title track is a cover of THE CURE classic, and it features a guest appearance by SHINING frontman Niklas Kvarforth. The "A Forest" EP also includes a live version of the title track as well as the two aforementioned songs from the "I Loved You At Your Darkest" sessions.

Los Angeles quintet HOLLYWOOD UNDEAD has released the official music video for the new track "Idol", featuring a guest appearance from rapper Tech N9ne. Continuing to push the boundaries of ingenuity, "Idol" sees HOLLYWOOD UNDEAD effortlessly blend heavy riffs, huge hooks, dubstep-tinged industrial bombast and impassioned lyrical dexterity into a hard-hitting sonic canvas that is uniquely and undeniably their own. VIMIC frontman Kalen Chase has released the official lyric video for his new solo single, "Let Them Come".

Kalen stated about the track: "'Let Them Come' started last year in Nashville when I was tinkering around on my guitar. I tuned my guitar down really low until I got this cello-like sound and my brother Nick Morris — whom I collaborate with a lot — went, 'What is that?' to which I responded, 'I don't know, but I think it's good…' So, the riff for 'Let Them Come' happened first, and immediately I thought it had to have a chant. I started humming and eventually that turned into 'say bye bye to the old ways, old ways.' The entire song came from this and we pieced it together like Frankenstein.

"The whole concept for 'Let Them Come' is that there's the young, the old, the new; there are inherent rights and wrongs, but time is always changing. We're always evolving, but the one constant is that we're all mostly ridiculous. Life can be pretty comical. If an army of youth and reason tramples us all and we're all turned to dust, it will still be hilarious. So 'Let Them Come': don't take life so seriously. It's about poking fun at, and honoring, everyone."

Chase is a rare breed. Born in Southern California and growing up in Washington state until his dream of becoming a lumberjack were dashed to the ground, this singer, songwriter, guitar-player, and producer has toured the world with several major performing acts.

In 2006, Kalen joined KORN on tour, primarily on backing vocals, and can be heard and seen in the "MTV Unplugged (Live)" release in 2007 where he was featured playing an exotic array of instruments. He remained with KORN — often seen as The White Rabbit — until 2008.

While working with KORN, Kalen fronted the band THE CHANGING, where he collaborated again with Jonathan Davis on single "Jerry Bruckheimer". His career in metal would continue as the lead vocalist for the band SUPERFIX, before joining forces with Joey Jordison (formerly of SLIPKNOT) as the lead vocalist for VIMIC in 2016.

Now, Kalen has embarked on a new path, building upon his singer-songwriter roots, hard rock persona, and production experience to create a sound of his own.

U.K. grindcore pioneers NAPALM DEATH will release their new studio album, "Throes Of Joy In The Jaws Of Defeatism", on September 18 via Century Media Records. The follow-up to 2015's "Apex Predator - Easy Meat" was again recorded with longtime producer Russ Russell and features artwork by Frode Sylthe.

NAPALM DEATH vocalist Mark "Barney" Greenway commented: "A good shout to work once again with Michael Panduro, as he really adapts his style video to video rather than just using a singular approach. We delight in a generous helping of the absurd, so for one thing, the footage of children seemingly at play but displaying signs of systemic obedience really propels Shane's [Embury, bass] lyrical thrust of our default powerlessness within the pecking order. As sonics go, I think it's post-punk as fuck and grooves massively and accordingly."

Greenway stated about the upcoming album and its theme: "The phrase sticking in my mind when I started thinking about the lyrical direction for this album was 'the other.' You could recognize at the time that there was a rapidly growing fear and paranoia being generated about everybody, from migrating people to people with fluid sexuality and this was starting to manifest itself in very antagonistic reactions that you felt were almost verging on violence. Not everybody resorts to such reactions, of course, but even the basic lack of understanding can become toxic over time. I'm not saying that this is an entirely new phenomenon, but it has been stoked in recent history by some particularly attack-minded people in more political circles and, as ever, I felt that it would be the natural antidote to endorse basic humanity and solidarity with all.

"The artwork specifically uses a white dove as a centerpiece, which, of course, is a commonly recognized symbol of peace and cooperation. The dove has been mauled very violently by a sterilizing hand and in death appears particularly broken and bloodied. However, through the violence you can see an equality symbol in blood on the chest of the dove, which perhaps demonstrates — visually at least — that equality cuts through in the end. A positive amidst many negatives then, much like the album title itself being a bit of an oxymoron — the celebration of humanity even in the mangling jaws of negativity."

Regarding the LP's musical direction, Greenway told Kerrang! magazine: "I've definitely done some stuff on this album vocally that I've never done to this degree before. We're heading into the noise-rock territory, loosely. SWANS, MY BLOODY VALENTINE, THE YOUNG GODS — we're heading more down that path. But there's some more traditional, fast, chaotic stuff as well. Again, as long as it's aggressive, confrontational, abrasive, even when it's less full-pelt, it's always NAPALM DEATH."

Austin, Texas-based melodic death-doom metal unit, Hinayana, recently announced the upcoming release of their crushing Death Of The Cosmic EP - set for release on August 28 via Napalm Records.

Today, the band are shadowing the reveal of the music video for their charging, melancholy first single “Cold Conception” (featuring trailblazing late Tengger Cavalry frontman and multi-instrumentalist Nature Ganganbaigal on Morin Khuur), with another new track - the massive, warning "In Sacred Delusion", featuring Toni Toivonen of Hanging Garden. The band has also launched a new lyric video to accent the riveting track.

Vocalist/guitarist Casey Hurd states about the track and working with Toni Toivonen: “'In Sacred Delusion' is about the inevitability of our own self destruction. We are all in some way walking towards the flame of our own demise, both collectively as humans and individually as people. We are on a path that sometimes seems like we cannot stray from, eventually burning the world around us and giving into the hellscape we’ve made for ourselves. The song incorporates more of the band’s doomy side, with downtempo riffing and emotional passages topped off with the guttural vocals of Hanging Garden’s Toni Toivonen. It was a sort of surreal experience to be able to share a track with vocalist of a band which has inspired my own writing so much and that I’d listened to for so many years. Toni is a fantastic musician to work with and I know he’s been looking forward to seeing this track be released just as much we have, so this is a very special moment for all of us!”

Hinayana started out as a one-man band spearheaded by frontman Casey Hurd, and subsequently released the crushing full-length Order Divine in 2018. Otherworldly and haunting while maintaining a crushing, colossal heaviness and peppered with undeniable groove, their latest release, the upcoming Death Of The Cosmic EP, emphasizes improved production and keen songwriting. Primarily self-produced by the band with mixing/drum recording from Kevin Butler and mastering by Swallow The Sun’s Juho Raiha, fans will also notice the new EP’s heightened concept in comparison to the band’s previous releases.

Opening title track “Death Of The Cosmic” sets off with optimistic ambience, quickly blasting into an ethereal universe of blazing leads and acoustic soundscapes capped by vocalist Casey Hurd’s deep, menacing growls. “Cold Conception” rushes in with melancholic energy before transforming into a dark, galloping anthem accented by the Morin Khuur stylings of late Tengger Cavalry mastermind Nature Ganganbaigal and a melting solo from Erik Shtaygrud. Mystic instrumental interlude “Yet Here I Wait Forever” showcases the dynamic, softer side of Hinayana before picking back up with the stunning down-tempo gripper “In Sacred Delusion”, featuring a guest appearance from Toni Toivonen (Hanging Garden). Death Of The Cosmic closes with the sorrowful 5-minute epilogue "Pitch Black Noise" - not only proving Hinayana's identifiable auditory trademark of melding tranquility and thunderous intensity, but also underlining the existential depth of their lyrical approach.

Casey Hurd adds about the EP: “Death Of The Cosmic is based on the severed connection between ourselves and the cosmic, spiritual force in the universe and the loss of hope for the cold, modern world man has created in nature’s place. Sonically, we wanted to make something that was beautiful but crushing at the same time, demonstrated in the title track of this EP, which in concept might be viewed as a microcosm of the whole EP itself. Something we tried to do was stray away from some of the more cliché elements of melodic death metal and instead focus on what is the very root/core of Hinayana and what gives the band its own sound.”

On November 6, Surma will release their full-length debut, The Light Within, via Metal Blade Records. For a first preview of the album, a lyric video for the new single, "Reveal The Light Within", can be viewed below.

Soaring, dramatic and moving, The Light Within introduces Surma as one of the most riveting symphonic metal bands on the contemporary scene. Spread out across 13 tracks in 47 minutes, there is not a moment wasted as they weave their epic stories of optimism around music that is suitably gigantic but compressed into relatively short songs.

"I think the real message of the album is to give hope to everyone, no matter what they are struggling with," states vocalist Viktorie Surmøvá, best known for her work with Bohemian Metal Rhapsody.

Teaming up with guitarist/vocalist Heri Joensen of Týr, the band began in 2018 and spent most of 2019 writing, arranging and recording the music that would comprise their debut. Starting from vocal melodies and building the songs up around them, all are very dense, rich with orchestrations and searing guitar and propelled by driving rhythms. Alongside the core duo, the record features performances by Rens Bourgondiën on bass, drummer Andrey Ischenko (ex-Arkona), and Lars Vinther arranged most of the orchestrations with Joensen contributing a little to this side of recording too. Maintaining overall control over proceedings, Surmøvá and Joensen produced the record themselves in the guitarist's home studio with the drums tracked in Moscow. With touring commitments with Týr and other interruptions, the recording process was broken up, but Joensen asserts it was a "walk in the park", again confirming the chemistry that comes when the two work together. Looking ahead, the general positivity that exists around them is once more pushed to the fore.

States Surmøvá: "I believe we can make something good in this world, and we can help people through hard times and inspire them to have hope in the future, and generally inspire a better mood and a better feeling in those who listen to our music."

Atheist are widely regarded by those in the know as the pioneers of technical death metal, influencing many of today's top technical extreme metal bands.  During quarantine, members Daniel Martinez, Chris Martin, Yoav Ruiz-Feingold and Anthony Medaglia kept their chops and produced a series of playthrough videos.

The first of the series is for "Mother Man' off Atheist's second album, Unquestionable Presence, and can be viewed below.

Vocalist Kelly Shaefer comments: "Hope everyone is getting through this very oddball year. Just before all of this madness happened, we were fortunate enough to do an amazing U.S. tour supporting Cattle Decapitation.  As some of you know, my fellow founding member Steve Flynn and I have worked with several different musicians since 2006 when we returned from a 17-year hiatus. Steve loves writing, and making records but many times cannot tour, and that has prevented us from being out there on your doorsteps as much as we might have liked to. So, two years ago we decided we would adopt a touring drummer with the Flynn seal of approval.

In addition, we put together what I believe to be the strongest Atheist lineup since the original. Young, fiery bad-asses who play this material in a frighteningly accurate way. Most can attest to this when they saw this lineup on the aforementioned tour in December 2019. Daniel, Chris, Yoav and Anthony have put together some playthrough’s of two classic tracks from our second album. I am so proud of how it came out we thought what a great way to introduce you to the new band members. I am so excited to make music and tour with this humble, uber talented group of guys. I cannot say enough about them as people, and musicians!

Tomorrow, Friday, August 21, the 30th anniversary deluxe edition of Anthrax's fifth studio album, Persistence Of Time, will be released. To wrap up the six-episode video series of the stories behind the making of Persistence Of Time, here is Episode Six, the final clip, "Got The Time".

On this, Anthrax's Charlie Benante reveals how the then-new Persistence Of Time album was the result of everything the band had learned up to that point, incorporating elements of Spreading The Disease, Among The Living and State Of Euphoria.  He also points out Scott Ian's evolution as a lyricist, that on Persistence Of Time, Ian became more outspoken on subjects like racism and politics.

On August 21, 2020, 30 years to the day after its initial launch,  Anthrax will celebrate with the release of the deluxe anniversary edition of their fifth studio album, the Gold-certified Persistence Of Time, produced by Anthrax and Mark Dodson (Megaforce). Available exclusively on disc and vinyl, the CD package will include two CDs and one DVD, the vinyl edition offers four LPs, as well as revised cover art that reflects what had been the album's original visual concept. As with Anthrax's previous anniversary deluxe editions, the band's Charlie Benante shepherded the one for Persistence Of Time. Disc One is comprised of the 11-track album, fully-remastered by Paul Logus (who mastered Anthrax's Worship Music and For All Kings. the Anthems EP, and the DVDs Kings Among Scotland and Chile on Hell). Disc One also features a special "bonus B-side" version of "I'm The Man" from 1990 that leans more hip-hop than rock, and a live version of "Time" that was recorded at Michigan's Palace of Auburn Hills in 1991. The final two songs on Disc One, as well as all nine tracks on Disc Two, are special recordings from "Charlie's Stash," an incomparable wealth of Anthrax music from the band's rehearsals, writing sessions, preproduction, and live performances that Benante has recorded over the past 40 years and has been kept safely filed away. These recordings will put listeners "in the room" with the band, privy to the evolution of the songs on Persistence Of Time starting with Benante's original riffs and demos for the songs, moving on to Frank Bello, Scott Ian, Joey Belladonna, Dan Spitz, and Benante shaping the songs in rehearsal, then into preproduction, and finally into the recording studio. Said Benante, "you'll hear parts of songs that never made it to the final recording or songs with an arrangement different from the finished song."

The 40-minute "guerilla-style" DVD was shot when Anthrax was on tour with Iron Maiden in 1991 and features live footage of Benante taking over the drums for Iron Maiden's Nick McBrain, as well as backstage and dressing room footage with members of both bands. The piece wraps with Benante, Bello, and Ian joining Iron Maiden on stage for the final song of the night, "Sanctuary."

With revealing liner notes written by Scott Ian that pull back the curtain on some of the incidents that fueled the album's lyrical content, the artwork showcases a selection of mementos from the Persistence Of Time cycle: script pages from the band's 1992 "My Dinner with Anthrax" episode of the TV sitcom "Married With Children," band photos and magazine covers, backstage passes, and an assortment of vintage promo items. Also, the deluxe package's cover art has been revised. Explained Benante, who also oversees all of Anthrax's artwork, "We had been a band for only about five years, but so much had been and continued to be crammed into those few years, and we realized we couldn't stop time, it was just persistent. Simultaneously, I was at the height of my Salvador Dali phase, I was just absorbed in his art, and I wanted to tie the two together - Salvador Dali and time. I loved what [artist] Don Brautigam did with the original cover, but for this deluxe edition, I wanted it the way I had originally seen the cover in my head - with the clock melting, so that's what we did."

"Recording the vocals for this album was a great experience," said vocalist Joey Belladonna. " I really liked working with Steve Thompson and Mark Barbiero, everything came together nicely, we all became good friends. And it was great to work in Manhattan again, especially at Electric Lady Studios. That place has such an aura, recording in the same place where Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, and Led Zeppelin did, it was a really cool experience."

"One of the things I'll never forget from the 'Persistence Of Time' tours," added Frank Bello, "was when we played the songs 'Time' and 'Got The Time' live. We had this big clock on our stage, the 'Persistence Of Time' clock, and the hands on this clock went around and around while we played the songs 'Time" and "Got The Time." Today, something like that would be motorized, but back in 1990, it had to be done manually using a hand crank on the back of the clock. My bass tech from that time, Troy, it was his job to keep those hands turning during those two songs, throughout the entire songs. I mean, what a workout that guy got from turning that crank."

"It was a weird time for us for a number of reasons," added Benante, "but at the same time, a lot of great things happened. We did 'Married with Children,' we toured with Slayer and Megadeth on the 'Clash of the Titans Tour," and we recorded 'Bring The Noise' with Public Enemy, and that turned everything around."

Coming to cinemas in fall 2020, Phil Lynott: Songs For While I’m Away is a feature documentary on the life and music of Phil Lynott, telling the story of how a young black boy from working class 1950's Dublin, became Ireland's greatest rock star.

As the lead singer of Thin Lizzy, Phil Lynott was a songwriter, a poet, a dreamer, a wildman. Told extensively through the words of Phil himself and focusing on some of his iconic songs, the film gets to the heart of  Philip, the father, the husband, the friend, the son, the rock icon, the poet and the dreamer.

Phil Lynott: Songs For While I’m Away is produced by Universal Music’s Globe Production with backing from Screen Ireland. It is produced by Alan Maher and John Wallace for Cowtown Pictures and Peter Worsley for Eagle Rock Films.

EN MINOR, the new "depression core" project of Philip Anselmo (PANTERA, DOWN), will release its full-length debut, "When The Cold Truth Has Worn Its Miserable Welcome Out", on September 4 via Housecore Records in the U.S. and Season Of Mist in Europe. A project inadvertently in the making since Anselmo's earliest days as a child in the French Quarter, EN MINOR is an experimental and eclectic musical endeavor that finds the legendary frontman exploring a softer, graver vocal style, delivering brooding tales of pain, remorse, and sorrow. The band released a self-titled seven-inch EP this summer via Housecore Records, with a proper full-length to see official unveiling in the New Year.

"The initial strains — in the most primitive sense — came about when I was given my first guitar at nine-years old," relays Anselmo of the EN MINOR project. "I didn't have the patience to learn other people's music, so I wrote my own. And some of those early parts are still prevalent in the songs we're working with now. Fast forward to 1988 when I bought my first four-track recorder; those old songs took on a new life and newer songs were written. Heavy metal was at the forefront of my performance-based output, but these little four-track songs were always there. I always had an apprehension about allowing them to be heard though, because they were so different; only a small circle of close friends got to hear them."

By 1993, Anselmo moved back to his hometown of New Orleans and his home became an instant magnet for local musicians and artists. "At ungodly hours, these old four-track songs took on an even newer life jamming with these cats," he says. "We learned a few of the songs and wrote several more, and soon we were recording under the moniker BODY & BLOOD. We wrote more songs, all recorded on a newer model four-track. It was fun. We did it for the vibe. And it was pleasing to break away from multi-tracking studios and heavy metal. Metal music consumed most of our time and lives. Those 'B&B' sessions were damned-near therapeutic."

Without a clear plan for the band, the project remained a periodic therapy session. "We kept things simple and just jammed when everyone was home and played our recordings for friends," he says. "Then I eventually moved again, Hurricane Katrina hit, and life sent all of us in different directions."

In 2012, Anselmo met Stephen "Schteve" Taylor and EN MINOR truly took shape. "He and I began experimenting with some vibey stuff, and soon after began recording the sessions," Anselmo says. "This led to the current incarnation of EN MINOR. Together, we re-worked a few of the old four-track songs and wrote several new ones in short order. These sessions are hypnotic and pulling. And we continue to write songs suitable for this project to this day. Ugly and beautiful, EN MINOR, isn't 'party music.' This is 'kill the party music.'"

Former CHILDREN OF BODOM drummer Jaska Raatikainen has joined MERCURY CIRCLE, the brand new project led by SWALLOW THE SUN's Jaani Peuhu.

Having spent 26 years recording and touring the world with CHILDREN OF BODOM, it was hard for Jaska to make any concrete plans regarding his future since quitting the band in 2019, but all of this changed when he heard the demos by Peuhu.

"After hearing the demo tracks from the upcoming debut album, I thought it would be stupid not to join this band," Jaska said. "The music was something I hadn't heard for a long time. Dark, emotional, epic elements and big choruses.

"I am truly excited for the opportunity to be part of this. I know it is a long way to the top, but with these guys I feel honored and ready to do it again."

MERCURY CIRCLE's debut EP, "The Dawn Of Vitriol", was released on August 14 via Noble Demon and The Vinyl Division.

Born in 2018 as the as the brainchild of Peuhu, MERCURY CIRCLE is creating a diverse offering of atmospheric and dark music where the songs differ wildly in expression and sonic aesthetics, establishing the band's very own kind of "new doom".

MERCURY CIRCLE is working on material for its first full-length album, tentatively due in 2021.

London, Ontario-based atmospheric sludge rock unit THE WHITE SWAN, spearheaded by KITTIE's Mercedes Lander, will release its new EP, "Nocturnal Transmission", on September 18.

The EP's four tracks see the trio — Lander with Kira Longeuay and Shane Jeffers (BLOODMOON COLLECTIVE) — wearing their collective heart on their sleeves, delivering over 20 minutes of sprawling, melodic sound waves.

In December 2019, the band recorded three songs and a cover (Tracy Bonham's "Tell It To The Sky") of what can only be described as love songs. Lander penned lyrics that chronicle the joy, desire, longing, and eventual feeling of completeness that comes with a romantic relationship. From the night drives through the snow in the early days, right through to the handcrafted guitar built as a wedding gift from her now husband, the intricacies of true love permeate every moment of "Nocturnal Transmission".

Reprising a longtime creative relationship with producer Siegfried Meier, Lander felt both at home and re-energized by the familiarity and collaborative nature of their work. Recording took just two days, retaining many of the hallmarks of THE WHITE SWAN's earlier output, but adding a slightly polished sheen to the proceedings. With vocal layering and touches of psychedelic synths adding textural elements to the songs, the result is an enveloping experience of fuzzed out guitars and molasses-like melody. Describing "Nocturnal Transmission" as a "turning point" for the band, the album art by collage artist Caitlyn Grabenstein reflects the feeling of standing on the precipice, staring into the unknown. Acknowledging that there will always be a constant sound to THE WHITE SWAN, Lander states that their main intention is to "grow and grow." With an ever-developing sound and a solid combination of creative musicians in their ranks, "Nocturnal Transmission" is the latest in what is sure to be an ever-expanding back catalog of triumphs.

In advance of the release of "Nocturnal Transmission", the band is pleased to unveil a video for opening track, "In Love And Ritual". Lander says: "'In Love And Ritual' is about finding the person that completes you and the journey of realizing how having that person in your life teaches us to become brand new; kind of like a rebirth of feeling and emotional connection. I really wanted to create space with this song, keeping the roller coaster of dynamics in the forefront with a touch of chaos running in the background. Having the lyrics and melody build with the music and really complement each other."

The rock 'n' roll legends that are THE ROLLING STONES will open a world-first flagship store, RS No. 9 Carnaby, at 9 Carnaby Street in London's Soho.

The new store, created in partnership with Bravado, Universal Music Group's merchandise and brand management company, will feature all the hallmarks of the iconic band and include exclusive new fashion and merchandise under the RS No. 9 Carnaby brand available in-store and online beginning September 9, 2020.

THE ROLLING STONES said: "Soho has always encapsulated rock 'n' roll, so Carnaby Street was the perfect spot for our own store. We are confident this exciting project that our friends at Bravado have created will be an unrivaled experience for everyone to come to London and enjoy."

The collections include exclusive and contemporary collaboration pieces for fans of all ages, including men's, women's and children's fashion and accessories. A special glassware has been developed with Baccarat engraved with THE ROLLING STONES tongue. For those in the know, the store's window features a world first soundwave installation — taken from the opening to the 1966 hit track "Paint It Black".

The long-in-the-works solo album from QUEENSRŸCHE singer Todd La Torre has apparently been completed for a late 2020 release via Rat Pak Records. The disc was mixed by Chris "Zeuss" Harris, who has previously worked with ROB ZOMBIE, ICED EARTH and HATEBREED, among others.

On Wednesday (August 19), La Torre tweeted: "The mighty @zeuss1 CRUSHED the mixes on my new solo record! It sounds amazing! Top shelf sonic sweetness"

This past March, Todd said he would use the coronavirus downtime to write or co-write a few more tunes and "shape up existing songs/demos" for his solo album with his lifelong best friend Craig Blackwell. He also said that he and his QUEENSRŸCHE bandmates would take advantage of the time away from the road "to work on new ideas" for the follow-up to 2019's "The Verdict".

La Torre previously talked about his plans to release a solo LP in a 2017 interview with Canada's The Metal Voice. He stated about the direction of the material that will appear on the record: "Musically, it is probably, like, FIGHT meets PANTERA meets BLACK LABEL [SOCIETY]. It's definitely got that kind of southern… You know, PANTERA had that certain power groove — not full-fledged [speed], but has thrash elements. And then vocally, I'm singing probably a lot more chest voice, and then I've got some brutal gutteral vocals on it… That'll be a lot more brutal and more thrash, but the vocals are definitely more a power-metal, operatic kind of a thing — very aggressive…"

QUEENSRŸCHE spent a year touring in support of "The Verdict", which was released in March 2019 via Century Media Records.

"The Verdict" marked QUEENSRŸCHE's third full-length release with La Torre, following the departure of original singer Geoff Tate in 2012.

The current QUEENSRŸCHE lineup features two original members, bassist Eddie Jackson and guitarist Michael Wilton, along with La Torre and guitarist Parker Lundgren.

In a new interview with A&P Reacts, Thomas Youngblood spoke about the progress of the songwriting sessions for KAMELOT's follow-up to 2018's "The Shadow Theory" album. The guitarist said (see video below): "We have, actually, 25 songs right now, which has never happened — never. So now we have to kill a lot of darlings for this album, which sucks. Actually, I have a Zoom call today with Tommy [Karevik, vocals] and Oliver [Palotai, keyboards]. We're gonna be discussing that very fact. 'Cause we have to focus on 12, 13 songs. So, yeah, we have more material than ever. Some really cool stuff. I think a lot of what fans expect, but also a lot of cool new surprises."

He continued: "Having Tommy now as one of the songwriters has been killer; he's coming out with really cool stuff. And then, of course, Oliver and myself, and having Alex [Landenburg] now as our drummer; he's got a lot of cool ideas. What a cool guy Alex is. So, yeah, it's gonna be exciting. We're slowly putting all the parts together. We're planning like things are gonna happen middle of next year. Let's hope that happens. If not, at least we'll be ready."

Youngblood went on to say that although the original plan was to release the new KAMELOT album in March 2021, the LP is now not scheduled to arrive before August or September of next year.

KAMELOT's new DVD and Blu-ray, "I Am The Empire - Live From The 013", was released on August 14 via Napalm Records. The 21-song set was recorded at 013 in Tilburg, Netherlands and includes more than 100 minutes of live music and multiple exclusive extras, including backstage interviews of all guests, bandmembers and fans. Featured guest musicians include Alissa White-Gluz (ARCH ENEMY), Elize Ryd (AMARANTHE), Charlotte Wessels (DELAIN) and Lauren Hart (ONCE HUMAN).

"The Shadow Theory" was released in April 2018 via Napalm Records. The follow-up to 2015's "Haven" was helmed by acclaimed music producer Sascha Paeth and mastered by Jacob Hansen. Guests on the album include Hart, Jennifer Haben (BEYOND THE BLACK) and Sascha Paeth. The cover artwork was created by Stefan Heilemann.

The first official book by and about KAMELOT, "Veritas: A Kamelot Legacy", marking the 30th anniversary of the founding of the band, will be released later this year via Rocket 88.

ANTHRAX played the song "Time" during the Wacken World Wide digital festival, which was held earlier in the month. Video of the performance, which was recorded while all five members of the band were in quarantine, can be seen below.

The 30th-anniversary Deluxe Edition of ANTHRAX's "Persistence Of Time" album is due on August 21 via Megaforce Records. Produced by ANTHRAX and Mark Dodson. it will be available exclusively on disc and vinyl. The CD package will include two CDs and one DVD, the vinyl edition offers four LPs, as well as revised cover art that reflects what had been the album's original visual concept.

Earlier this week, ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian said that the band has "a lot of material" written for its next studio album.

The follow-up to 2016's "For All Kings" will be ANTHRAX's third full-length release since the 2010 return of singer Joey Belladonna, who came back into the fold for the "Big Four" shows with METALLICA, SLAYER and MEGADETH, in the process helping inspire a new wave of creativity.

In an interview with Syfy Wire's "Metal Crush", Ian stated about the progress of the ANTHRAX songwriting sessions: "We had already started working on stuff with the intent of finishing it up in the springtime of this year, of '20, and then maybe getting in the studio and either having a record out later this year or early '21. But obviously all those plans have now changed [in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic]. We have still been working on stuff through the magic of the Internet. We can do a lot over Zoom and FaceTime, sending music back and forth through e-mail and all that. But we need to really get in the room and work on the arrangements and really play something, like, 30 times until you really understand it and feel like, 'Okay, this is what this arrangement needs to be.' But that's kind of the holdup at this point. But we certainly have a lot of material, which makes me very excited about when we can actually get in a room together and [work on stuff]."

At last year's Download festival in the United Kingdom, drummer Charlie Benante said fans can expect to hear some surprises on ANTHRAX's next disc. "There's some extreme stuff on this record that we touched on," he said. "There's different things that we're gonna try and do that's gonna make it next level."

Earlier last year, Benante told Australia's "Everblack" podcast that ANTHRAX's new music is shaping up to be "a little more in the aggressive style."

"For All Kings" was called by some critics ANTHRAX's strongest album to date. Its arrival followed a five-year period during which the band experienced a rebirth of sorts, beginning with ANTHRAX's inclusion on the "Big Four" tour, and continuing with the 2011 release of comeback LP "Worship Music".
