RICKY WARWICK Debuts "The Crickets Stayed In Clovis" Music Video - "We Unashamedly Fired Up The THIN LIZZY Harmony Guitars On This One!"

Black Star Riders / The Almighty frontman, Ricky Warwick, has released the new single and music video, "The Crickets Stayed In Clovis", from his new solo record, Blood Ties, arriving on March 14 via Earache Records.

Says Warwick, "I’ve kept you waiting for this one - was it worth the wait?! My new single 'The Crickets Stayed In Clovis' is out now! We unashamedly fired up the Thin Lizzy harmony guitars on this one! You’ll find the track on my upcoming album Blood Ties, which you can pre-order now at earache.com/rickywarwick - heads up that the splatter vinyl edition is 50% sold out!

“'The Crickets Stayed In Clovis' is about how life can change in the blink of an eye, as was seen with the ill-fated plane journey that took the lives of Buddy Holly and three others. A few weeks before the flight, Buddy had fired his backing band, The Crickets. Waylon Jennings was supposed to be on the flight but gave his seat up to the Big Bopper, who had the flu and Waylon felt sorry for him. Ritchie Valens flipped a coin with Tommy Allsup for his seat, Ritchie won and lost his life.

"Life’s a game of chance, sometimes it’s better to play the long game and not be envious of others, as you never know what tomorrow brings."🤘

Warwick previously stated: "Blood Ties is a look into my deepest, darkest personal demons - but I’ve made sure the guitars were turned up way beyond driven to turn that negativity into an uplifting slab of rock’n’roll that I can’t wait for all of you to hear. Along with Lita Ford, you’ll hear my partners in R’n'R Charlie Starr, Billy Duffy and Tuk Smith amongst others on the album. Thank you to everyone who helped me create Blood Ties but, most importantly, thanks to YOU for making sure that I can keep doing what I love: making music for each and every one of you."

The journey from Belfast to Los Angeles, entwined with a lifetime spent at the coalface of bona fide rock n roll, has made for a heady cocktail of creativity and popularity. Ricky Warwick, founder of The Almighty, Black Star Riders, The Fighting Hearts, acclaimed and respectful frontman of Thin Lizzy since 2011, remains unstoppable.

This time he’s on a solo run with the release of his new album, Blood Ties.

Acknowledging that it was time to mine a deep seam for this record, the busiest man in the business has left nothing in the dressing room. Big cathartic guitar sounds and life-affirming, often joyous assessments of where he stands in this time and place make this album a standout piece of work in a career that has spanned over four decades. The Northern Irish man has spent his time well and the foundations for an album such as Blood Ties have been laid on solid ground.

As a solo artist and an esteemed singer/songwriter in his own right, Ricky Warwick has also collaborated with some of the finest musicians on the planet, with Blood Ties featuring Billy Duffy (The Cult), Lita Ford and Charlie Starr (Blackberry Smoke). Ricky has gathered many strings to his bow and his capacity to deliver new work to an appreciative fanbase with the accuracy of a perfectly flighted arrow is beyond impressive.

Having written with his friend and creative compadre Mr Keith Nelson (Buckcherry, Velvet Revolver, Blackberry Smoke) on this album, Ricky stresses that the guitars are turned up “beyond driven” on Blood Ties. When Warwick is as happy as this with a new work

The Lamp" Visualizer">
Four Seconds Ago, the electronic duo featuring Periphery’s Jake Bowen and Misha Mansoor, return with 1000 Needles on February 21 via 3DOT Recordings). The album is a continued exploration of analog synths, spacey dynamics and otherworldly ambient melodies.

“Four Seconds Ago, aside from being a fulfilling outlet creatively, is also just a lot of fun,” Mansoor shares. “Jake and I have always had a blast writing together, and our explorations in electronic music are no exception. The sessions often feel like a good hang where songs magically materialize before our very eyes. To some degree we started Four Seconds Ago as an excuse to learn how to make this kind of music. Now I think we are able to use it as a genuine form of expression. We a

DREAM THEATER Shares New Song 'Midnight Messiah' Featuring Lyrics By MIKE PORTNOY

With their latest full-length record available worldwide in just 16 days, Grammy-winning, progressive music titans DREAM THEATER are releasing the next piece of music from their sixteenth studio album, "Parasomnia". The track "Midnight Messiah" — clocking in at 7:58 — is now available via all digital service providers and is the third musical composition available from the iconic reunited lineup of vocalist James LaBrie, guitarist John Petrucci, bassist John Myung, keyboardist Jordan Rudess and drummer Mike Portnoy. The song marks Portnoy's first lyrical contribution since 2009. A tour diary music video featuring footage from multiple dates of their successful European leg of the 40th-aniversary tour 2024 was directed and edited by longtime collaborator Mike Leonard from footage compiled by tour documentarian Wolfe Eliot and Paul Green Productions. The music video for "Midnight Messiah" can be seen below.

Portnoy states: "It was great writing lyrics again and contributing this chapter to the 'Parasomnia' story. DT fans may get a kick out of discovering some of the hidden nuggets I planted in the song referencing many of my past DT lyrics…and the music video is a great representation of the excitement of the first two tour legs we recently completed throughout Europe and South America. Just in time to prepare for our next leg throughout North America which we are so excited to embark on."

"Parasomnia" is due on February 7, 2025 via InsideOut Music. The LP marks the band's first release with Portnoy since 2009's "Black Clouds & Silver Linings".

"Parasomnia" was produced by guitarist John Petrucci, engineered by James "Jimmy T" Meslin, and mixed by Andy Sneap. Hugh Syme returns once again to lend his creative vision to the cover art.

From the opening track "In The Arms Of Morpheus" to the closer of "The Shadow Man Incident", DREAM THEATER returns with a collection of songs that showcase what has earned the band a loyal following for four decades. Clocking in at 71 minutes, "Parasomnia" takes the listener on a musical journey that has become synonymous with the band since the beginning of their career. "Parasomnia" is a term for disruptive, sleep-related disturbances including sleepwalking, sleep paralysis, and night terrors. Songs like "A Broken Man", "Dead Asleep", "Midnight Messiah" and "Bend The Clock" all build upon the themes brought on by the album title. The first single, "Night Terror", is a musical thrill ride captured in the just shy of ten minutes listening experience.

The track listing for "Parasomnia" is:

01. In The Arms Of Morpheus (5:22)
02. Night Terror (9:55)
03. A Broken Man (8:30)
04. Dead Asleep (11:06)
05. Midnight Messiah (7:58)
06. Are We Dreaming? (1:28)
07. Bend The Clock (7:24)
08. The Shadow Man Incident (19:32)

Portnoy co-founded DREAM THEATER in 1985 with guitarist John Petrucci and bassist John Myung. Mike played on 10 DREAM THEATER albums over a 20-year period, from 1989's "When Dream And Day Unite" through 2009's "Black Clouds & Silver Linings", before exiting the group in 2010.

Mike Mangini joined DREAM THEATER in late 2010 through a widely publicized audition following the departure of Portnoy. Mangini beat out six other of the world's top drummers — Marco Minnemann, Virgil Donati, Aquiles Priester, Thomas Lang, Peter Wildoer and Derek Roddy — for the gig, a three-day process that was filmed for a documentary-style reality show called "The Spirit Carries On".

Asked by Brazil's Marcelo Vieira and Matheus Ribeiro if DREAM THEATER's upcoming LP picks up from where the last DT album he played on, 2009's "Black Clouds & Silver Linings", left off or if it's a different thing entirely, Portnoy said: "If I'm being honest, I think it picks up right where 'Black Clouds' left off, to be honest. There's a certain style that the five of us have when we write together. And if you listen to the album with this lineup from 1999, '[Metropolis Pt. 2:] Scenes From A Memory', through 2009's 'Black Clouds & Silver Linings', if you look at that string of five or six albums, that's the sound and style of these five people. So I think that's a good indication of what you can expect with the new DREAM THEATER album. It definitely sounds like classic DREAM THEATER."

In a recent interview with U.K.'s Devolution magazine, DREAM THEATER keyboardist Jordan Rudess talked about the band's upcoming sixteenth album. Regarding Portnoy's reunion with DREAM THEATER, Rudess said: "I'm really excited because welcoming Mike back is a really emotional, really beautiful thing to his home, where he really should be. He's been so wonderful and very respectful of all of us in terms of — he was gone for a long time. And he has all these skills beyond drumming. So he asks, 'Do you mind if I get involved with this? Is it okay if I get involved with this?' And we're always, like, 'Yeah, man, come on, bring it on. All the stuff that you do, all the Mike Portnoy stuff is important.' And I am so happy because, you know, when I listen back to the music that we've been creating, it's got his stamp on it. You know that some of the stuff is coming from his brain."

Jordan added: "Let's say it kind of like it is. DREAM THEATER survived for 13 years without him. We did fine. We won a Grammy. We wrote a lot of good music. We had a fantastic drummer. All that's good. But he came back, and now you will feel it in the music, you will hear it in the songs, you will see it when we're going out and playing live. It's unmistakable. This guy, he's who he is. He's a big character. He's very, very talented. Great drummer. Really great thinker about all the different elements that go into musical-visual creation. And this album we're working on just emits that. Everyone will know as soon as they hear it. So I'm really super excited about it, and all of it it's great."

In July, Rudess was asked by Chris Akin Presents how the upcoming DREAM THEATER album compares to the rest of the band's discography. Jordan said: "Well, let's put it this way. There's this undeniable, almost unexplainable or inexplainable, whatever the word is, type of thing that happens with drummers. We survived beautifully in the 13 years that Mike Portnoy was not there. Mike Mangini was a supreme drummer, just incredible. And that said, all the albums with Portnoy, all the albums with Mangini, they have different flavors, because there's something about the back beat, if you will, of a band and the drummer that just gives an energy to the whole thing. And a lot of people speak of that. It's kind of hard to pin down. But you really notice it. Like on this new album, I listen to it and I go, 'Okay, I feel the Portnoy energy back there.'

"I would say what I'm hearing personally is classic kind of DREAM THEATER, whatever that means to anybody that's listening," he continued. "You'll have to wait and see. Think of it this way: the core band is back together again. It's classic DREAM THEATER. I also like to point out that we are a bunch of guys that we take what we do very, very seriously. We put every ounce, every bit of effort, energy into everything we do. We care so much about it, each and every one of us.

"The other day, I was talking to John Petrucci in the studio when I was doing my keyboard parts. And we were really deep and working really hard and spending long hours and just getting things to where we feel they're really, really right. And I said to John, I said, 'John, look at what we're doing. We're here late. We're working like crazy. Why? We could have been making pop music. Why are we doing this?' Just to really understand, because a lot of people don't put the kind of effort, I guess, especially these days when there tends to be a different kind of work ethic around, and maybe we're kind of like old school in that way. But to produce a product, to make something that's gonna last, that is gonna be shared with a large number of people, that's just gonna live on, in a way, forever, that, to us, is a really serious thing. And as artists, we're trying to make a statement."

Circling back to Portnoy's influence on the new DREAM THEATER music, Jordan said: "One of the beautiful things is Mike has brought with him all his incredible skills. He's not a guy who just plays the drums really well. He also understands this business. I always like to say that he's got kind of like a film director's mentality, he's looking at everything from a conceptual point of view, and he has skills that the rest of us don't. I mean, yes, we survived fine [without Portnoy], we did really well, we won a Grammy [while he was out of the band] and all that, but there's a magic there that we now have back. It's cool — it's really cool. We're super excited."

EMISSARY To Release Eldritch Album In March; Two Videos Streaming

Spanish thrash/death metallers, Emissary, are excited to announce that their new album, Eldritch, will be released on March 1 via Fetzner Death Records. Featuring eight brand-new tracks for over half an hour of music, Eldritch will be available as digipak and digital.

Embark on a harrowing journey into the unfathomable void with Eldritch, a sonic odyssey that delves into the heart of cosmic horror. This thrash/death metal masterpiece weaves a tapestry of crushing riffs and fury vocals, immersing listeners in a labyrinth of shadowed realms where the unknown reigns supreme.

The album is a descent into madness, a chaotic symphony that blurs the lines between reality and nightmare. Each track drags you deeper into the abyss, where sanity frays and forbidden truths lie hidden in the darkness. The atmosphere is oppressive yet mesmerizing, with relentless rhythms and haunting melodies echoing the vast, indifferent cosmos.

Through its raw aggression and haunting otherworldly tones, Eldritch conjures visions of ancient, unspeakable entities and realms where time and space warp into incomprehensible horrors. This is not merely an album but an experience, a plunge into a dark mystery where the boundaries of existence dissolve, leaving you to question what is real and what is madness.

Album recorded and produced by Jaume Perna, mixed at Moontower Studio by Javi Felez. Logo by Ian Regueiro and Alejandro "Grim" Herrera. Album artwork created by Alex Shadrin at Nether Temple Design.

Hungary's ATROX TRAUMA Dives Into The Abyss With New "Emptiness" Music Video

Hungary’s unstoppable thrash-death force, Atrox Trauma, has just dropped the official music video for their latest single, "Emptiness", taken from their sophomore album, Where Death Hunts, due for release via WormHoleDeath Records.

In "Emptiness," the band takes a brutal yet introspective dive into the emotional void, tackling themes of isolation, despair, and the deep human longing for connection. With a raw and aggressive sound that pushes the limits of thrash and death metal, the track exposes the psychological burden of searching for meaning when faced with life's stark emptiness.

The band stated: "Hollowness welcomed inside. This emptiness swallowed by. Fulfilling that emptiness. To find myself in you...This is the solution. This is the Way Out. Emptiness is the second video from our album, which will be released on April 17th. A song about emptiness, being lost, giving up, and finding a way out."

HANGMAN'S CHAIR Launch New Single "In Disguise"; Visualizer Video Posted

Ahead of their next studio album, Saddiction, due on February 14 via Nuclear Blast, French doom metal pioneers Hangman's Chair are back with their new single, "In Disguise". A haunting, slow-burning shoegaze doom track that drifts through layers of sorrowful distortion. Its mournful lyrics unravel the weight of depression, echoing the isolation and darkness that consumes the soul.

Hangman's Chair comments on "In Disguise": "Weather, debts, long time since failure, low motivational level, the feeling of a need to take action… already depressed? January 20th, more commonly known as “Blue Monday”, what a perfect day to release our third single, 'In Disguise'. A last fix before the launching of Saddiction on Valentine’s Day. Enjoy!"

Stream the single here, and watch the visualizer below:

Hangman's Chair comments on Saddiction: "'Saddiction' is the contraction of two words, sadness, and addiction. It means the addiction to sadness. 7th effort of the band, for us, Saddiction is the second album of the new trilogy that started with A Loner back in 2022 and it’s the logical continuity. Keeping up with the cold, massively reverbed, and chorused atmosphere but now mixed with what Hangman’s Chair has been known for, the heaviness and the low-tuned sound, thanks to the magical sound engineer Francis Caste, once again. Valnoir of Metastazis designed the cover and resumed what the identity of Hangman’s Chair is all about in its purest form, concrete, pavement, bleakness, and ultra-modern solitude of the Parisian « banlieue ». Now, please don’t blame us for your saddiction. It has always been here. In your hearts, February 14th, 2025."

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY Guitarist DARIO LORINA's New Band DARK CHAPEL Shares Second Single, 'Hollow Smile'

DARK CHAPEL, the new band led by guitarist/singer/producer Dario Lorina, best-known as a longtime member of BLACK LABEL SOCIETY (2014 to present),has released its second single, "Hollow Smile". An accompanying music video for the track, directed by Justin H. Reich (BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, Ace Frehley, Rex Brown),can be seen below.

On "Hollow Smile", a thrash-y palm-muted chug seethes beneath his airy intonation on the verses. It climaxes on a chantable chorus accelerated by a driving rhythm.

Lorina explains: "I read a quote recently that portrays the meaning behind this song well: 'A man's own mind is the greatest battle he will face.'"

Led by Lorina and also featuring Brody DeRozie (guitar),Mike Gunn (bass),and Luis Silva (drums),the band's airtight guitar-craft and sludgy grooves with magnetic melodies, bluesy phrasing, and grunge mystique are spotlighted on their debut album, "Spirit In The Glass", which is due out February 28, 2025 on MNRK Heavy.

The album's first single, "Glass Heart", was released last November on all digital outlets. A video for the song can be seen below.

Dario's gritty delivery on the song takes hold on a hypnotic hook, bleeding into a fret-burning lead punctuated by dramatic bends. "'Glass Heart' is a lyrical and almost cinematic musical story that started with a riff and lyrically stemmed from emotion," he revealed. "That emotion created an imagery for me that I began writing about as if that feeling was a painting I was writing to describe."

Striking an elusive balance between dark and heavy, ethereal and passionate, "Spirit In The Glass" is, as Lorina describes, "a culmination of all artistic influence, whether musical or otherwise."

Lorina began his professional career in 2006 when he was 16 as the touring guitarist with the late Jani Lane (ex-WARRANT). At 19, he joined veteran metal act LIZZY BORDEN whom he toured with for four years. He released two instrumental records with Mike Varney on Shrapnel Records in 2013 and 2017, respectively, titled "Dario Lorina" and "Death Grip Tribulations". On January 1, 2014 he joined BLACK LABEL SOCIETY and has since been touring worldwide alongside Zakk Wylde, performing on guitar, piano and backing vocals ever since. Lorina dueled solos with Wylde on BLACK LABEL SOCIETY's 2022 album "Doom Crew Inc.", and he joined Zakk Wylde on the January 2022 cover of Guitar World magazine.

"The guitar never really left my hands," he laughed. Years of woodshedding followed. At 16 years old, he answered the call to audition for Jani Lane and found himself on the road with the ex-WARRANT frontman shortly thereafter.

"Spirit In The Glass" track listing:

01. Afterglow
02. Hollow Smile
03. We Are Remade
04. Corpse Flower
05. Glass Heart
06. Dead Weight
07. Dark Waters

CRAZY LIXX Unveil New Single "Hunt For Danger"; Music Video Streaming

Swedish hard rockers, Crazy Lixx, unveil their new single, “Hunt For Danger”, taken from their new studio album, Thrill Of The Bite, set for release on February 14 via Frontiers Music Srl. A new video, available below, accompanies the track.

Guitarist Chrisse Olsson comments on the new track: “I'm really excited about our next single and music video release for 'Hunt For Danger', from our upcoming album Thrill Of The Bite. To me, this song is the perfect result of drawing inspiration from all the music I grew up with and all those great bands that influenced me and my musicianship from an early age. A song with a vibe from a time and an era that really made a mark and shaped my life, and still inspires me to make music to this day. When I first pitched this song to the band, I was fairly convinced that they would like it just as much as I do, and I'm extremely proud of the result, and everybody's contribution in making this into what I feel has the potential to become a real Crazy Lixx classic. An obvious choice for a single in my book, and I'm glad the label and the band agreed. This is a song that is sure to take you back in time.”

Vocalist Danny Rexon expresses his enthusiasm for the new album, by saying: “So stoked to finally reveal the news of our upcoming album, set to be released in February 2025. Even though we did release some new songs on the compilation album earlier this year, it has been quite a while since the fans got a proper full length studio album with all originals, but now we can finally announce that that time is soon upon us. And dare I say that this album is one really worth waiting for? Personally, I'm really proud and happy with how it came out and I think that the response to the two singles we've put out so far ('Call Of The Wild' and 'Little Miss Dangerous') gives us a clear indication that our fans seem to agree.”

Since the latest studio album release with Street Lethal back in the winter of 2021, fans have been eager to hear new Crazy Lixx material, and even though the compilation album Two Shots At Glory (2024) gave the listeners some covers, fresh takes on old songs, and a couple of new tracks, this next studio album is what they have all been dying to hear.

Thrill Of The Bite promises to elevate Crazy Lixx’s rock music to new heights. Following the success of their previous album Street Lethal (2021), this new record is packed with powerful anthems, memorable riffs and melodies, electrifying guitar solos, and the larger-than-life sing-along energy that fans have come to expect from the band, delivering what is already shaping up to be one of the bands strongest works in their 20+ year career.

The album features tracks that highlight the band’s ability to balance their nostalgic, sleaze-metal roots with their love for the 80s and early 90s, drawing inspiration from the flamboyant heavy metal and movies of that era alike. Crazy Lixx have teased a few tracks, suggesting a turn to a heavier, riff-driven style while maintaining their signature melodic choruses and glam-influenced attitude.

With Thrill Of The Bite, Crazy Lixx are poised to continue their reign as one of Sweden’s premier retro hard rock bands, solidifying their legacy in the global scene while pushing their creative boundaries even further.

DARK FORTRESS – “The Silver Gate” (Live In 2023) Official Live Video Streaming

In 2023, after an illustrious cult career spanning more than 20 years, German melodic black metallers, Dark Fortress, came to an end.

The Germans have made one final offering to their fans with Anthems From Beyond The Grave - Live In Europe 2023, a recording during the band's final European run, The Cosmic End Tour, in 2023. The album is out new via Century Media and official live video for "The Silver Gate", the opening track from 2008's Eidolon, has been released.

“I never thought Dark Fortress would have a live album,” says V. Santura (guitars). “The technical situation - we had multi-track recordings of two shows [Rotterdam and Bochum] - allowed for Anthems From Beyond The Grave to happen. I didn’t even listen to the recordings for months after the tour. When I finally did, I thought, ‘Holy shit!’ We sounded incredible, and I'm hardly ever happy with our shows. All of our hard work had finally fallen into place on that tour. When Century Media heard it, they said, ‘We’ve gotta release it - it’s too good not to!' If this is our end and it definitely is, then it’s a fitting end to Dark Fortress.”
