Chicago’s CRUSADIST Release Lyric Video For New Song "Pulverized By Warhammers"; US Tour Dates AnnouncedSince the release of the band's debut album, The Unholy Grail, Chicago death thrashers Crusadist have been touring right across the US alongside acts such as Inhuman Condition and Micawber, and supporting icons such as Nile, Kalmah and Vital Remains.
To promote the release of the bands crushing new single, "Pulverized By Warhammers", Crusadist are heading out with New Hampshire blackened tech death machine Begat The Nephilim for the ‘Unholy Procession Tour,’ with selected shows alongside Malignancy, Mortal Decay, Torn The Fuck Apart, Atoll and more.
Check out a lyric video for "Pulverized By Warhammers" below. Mixed and mastered by Cryptopsy guitarist Christian Donaldson (Ingested, The Agonist, Beyond Creation) with artwork by Giannis Nakos from Remedy Designs (Suffocation, Evergrey) the song delivers a crushing groove that commands a brutal pit frenzy.
Commenting on the new song, vocalist Shaun Albro states: “We wrote ‘Pulverized By Warhammers’ during the pandemic lockdowns. It was a very dark and uncertain time. A time when we were bombarded by restrictions, uncertainty and confined by these walls of separation that seemed to arise at every turn. It really began to feel like a prison that we desperately needed to escape from. Pulverized By Warhammers is a 4 and a half minute bludgeoning auditory onslaught where Old School Death Metal meets the New Wave. Thick and pounding with groove, brutal and memorable. PBW tells the tale of a tenacious rebellion with intentions to destroy anything and everything in its path”
Crusadist:
Shaun Albro – Vocals
Luke Sever – Lead Guitar
Aaron Nobles – Rhythm Guitar
Kevin Ariel – Bass Guitar
Jason Rak – Drums

VORAATH Feat. NILE, XAEL Members Explore Their Next Sci-Fi Lore With "Amon The Judge" Music VideoVoraath, from North and South Carolina USA, features members from ex-Nile (Brad Parris), Xael (Joshua Ward), Rapheumets Well, Implosive Disgorgence, and Sweet Blood. They are an otherworldly and experimental death metal band that brings together emotional yet brutal music and science fantasy appealing to both metal enthusiasts as well as those who appreciate the lore of the music.
They have their next and third stand-alone single out, entitled “Amon The Judge”, and today they present their next sci-fi lore with the music video for the track.
Drummer and the video's director Joshua Ward explains the track in further detail: "We have been crafting depth to the lore of our music. Every song we write has two meanings. We have the personal meaning and then molded into the lore. We developed this planet in which 80% of the population disappears after the arrival of three extraterrestrial beings which people revere as gods. The story focuses on a group of hunters that are contracted by EOS corporation to retrieve certain artifacts. We are 100 years into the future so a lot has changed and corporations have taken over. While preparing for the next mission, the hunters of Harrow’s Gorge entrusted Edgar, a village elder, to keep the village safe by keeping the retrieved relic hidden. Betraying his oath, Edgar informed the militant Ostromek Corp of the relics' location for status and financial gain. The soldiers of Ostromek Corp ravaged the village, murdering and plundering its resources. The song 'Amon the Judge' follows the hunters' return, their trauma of loss, the brutal reprisal upon the remaining soldiers, and the final judgment of Edgar. This song explored the mental complexity of trauma and under what circumstances do good people commit vicious acts."
Voraath began as a vessel for the quintet to continue touring and writing. They wanted to explore even further integrating science fantasy, soundscapes, and metal. They hope that the first three tracks tantalize audiences and leave them anticipating their debut album, which is currently in the works.
Looking to hit the stage, they promise an onslaught of theatrics, bringing the story of the music to life. Atmospheric and driving, the medley of blast beats, chugging bass, and heavily distorted solos will be both intense and immersive. Voraath is recommended for fans of Septicflesh, Cattle Decapitation, and Fleshgod Apocalypse.
Lineup:
Brad Parris – Vocalist, Guitarist
Joshua Nassaru Ward – Drummer/Vocals/ Keys
Tylor Kohl – Guitarist
Daniel Presnell – Guitarist, accompany instruments
Paul McBride – Bassist

Watch: BUTCHER BABIES Perform Cover Of SAWEETIE's 'Best Friend'BUTCHER BABIES have recorded a cover version of rapper Saweetie's chart-topping single "Best Friend" for inclusion on their upcoming fourth full-length album, to be released in 2023.
BUTCHER BABIES have been playing their version of "Best Friend" live for the first time on their recently launched European tour, including at their August 5 concert in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Fan-filmed video of the "Best Friend" performance from that show can be seen below.
Speaking to Spain's EMP about their decision to cover "Best Friend", BUTCHER BABIES co-vocalist Heidi Shepherd said: "It's basically a song about [me and fellow BUTCHER BABIES singer Carla Harvey]. 'Cause we've been best friends for so long. We were a band together prior to BUTCHER BABIES. It's a cover, and we figured we can't think of two better people to cover this song besides us. So it's fun."
BUTCHER BABIES' latest album, 2017's "Lilith", was produced by Steve Evetts (THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, SEPULTURA, SUICIDE SILENCE) and marked the band's recording debut with drummer Chase Brickenden, who replaced Chris Warner in 2016.
In July 2019, longtime BUTCHER BABIES bassist Jason Klein announced his departure from the band. He has since been replaced by Ricky Bonazza.
Last year, BUTCHER BABIES embarked on a headlining tour, "Butcher Babies Vs. Goliath", which saw the band performing its debut album, "Goliath" — released in 2013 via Century Media Records — in its entirety along with recent hit singles and new material.
Hailing from the City of Angels, BUTCHER BABIES have released two EPs and three albums to date, with "Lilith", debuting at #1 on iTunes Metal chart and #7 on iTunes Rock chart. The band kicked off 2021 by independently releasing a handful of newly energized singles produced and co-written by Matt Good (FROM FIRST TO LAST),including "Bottom Of A Bottle", "Sleeping With The Enemy", "Yorktown", "Last Dance" and "It's Killin' Time, Baby!" The latter was inspired by the DC Comics character Lobo, a heavy metal bounty hunter. 1

ARCH ENEMY's ALISSA WHITE-GLUZ On Pandemic-Related Restrictions: 'I Definitely Don't Think That It Was Handled Very Well'ARCH ENEMY vocalist Alissa White-Gluz spoke to Montreal Rocks about how she ended up flying to Germany from her native Canada in 2021 to work on her band's 11th album, "Deceivers". She ended up staying in Germany for a year due to the stiff pandemic-related restrictions in her hometown of Montreal and the rest of the Great White North.
"I kind of split the two years on both sides of the Atlantic," she said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). "2020 I was west of it; 2021 I was east of it. Canada had extremely strict restrictions — so strict that at one point the police refused to enforce it because even they thought it was ridiculous.
"In general, I'm a pretty chill person and I don't really judge people on decisions that they make in times of stress because obviously nobody knows how to handle this; this is a brand new situation for everyone," she continued. "I definitely don't think that it was handled very well, but at the same time I don't know what the right way to do it would have been.
"So I definitely enjoyed 2021 more than 2020. But we were all kind of stuck in the same boat."
This past spring, White-Gluz told Metal Hammer that because of the pandemic, "Deceivers" took "a lot of travel, uncertainty and risk" to make. She explained: "2021 was a very interesting year. I had to get over to Michael [Amott, guitar] to finish vocal arrangements, then get to Denmark and record in [producer] Jacob Hansen's studios, but Canadians were banned from flying to Germany. I flew to Germany, but didn't know if I would be allowed in. There were many attempts to go somewhere else or get bandmembers to us, but they didn’t work for Covid reasons. What I ended up doing was staying in Europe for an entire year. I didn't want to risk being far away from our hub, which is basically in Sweden and Germany, and not being able to get back to it. I rented a car and found a little home for myself in southern Germany; I stayed there for a whole year. I set up a studio down there and continued working on a lot of solo material."
"Deceivers" will arrive on August 12 via Century Media Records.
In May, ARCH ENEMY released a new seven-inch single, "Sunset Over The Empire", with the title track also appearing on "Deceivers". The official music video for "Sunset Over The Empire", directed by Grupa13, was made available the same day.
ARCH ENEMY played the first show of "The North American Siege 2022" tour with BEHEMOTH and NAPALM DEATH on April 16 at The Marquee in Tempe, Arizona.
ARCH ENEMY is appearing at select summer festivals before embarking on the rescheduled "European Siege 2022" trek (with BEHEMOTH, CARCASS, UNTO OTHERS) in the fall.

Watch Pro-Shot Video Of VENOM Performing 'Black Metal' At This Year's WACKEN OPEN AIR FestivalProfessionally filmed video of VENOM performing its classic song "Black Metal" on August 5 at this year's Wacken Open Air festival in Wacken, Germany can be seen below.
VENOM frontman Conrad "Cronos" Lant recently confirmed that the band is putting the finishing touches on a new studio album. Speaking at last weekend's Wacken Open Air, he said: "We had a bit of a hassle because of the pandemic; we couldn't meet in the studio and all that sort of shit. So that knocked everything all to hell. If that hadn't happened, the album would be out by now. But we're just doing the fine tuning, really, and working on individual shows for now.
"VENOM have never been a big touring type of band," he explained. "We like to just pop up and blow the place to hell."
VENOM formed in 1979 in Newcastle Upon Tyne. Coming to prominence towards the end of the new wave of British heavy metal, VENOM's first two albums — "Welcome To Hell" (1981) and "Black Metal" (1982) — are considered a major influence on thrash metal and extreme metal in general. VENOM's second album proved influential enough that its title was used as the name of the extreme metal sub-genre of black metal. The band classic lineup trio of Cronos, Jeff "Mantas" Dunn and Anthony "Abaddon" Bray recorded two further studio albums, "At War With Satan" (1984) and "Possessed" (1985),and live album "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" (1986). Often cited by bands such as METALLICA, BEHEMOTH, CELTIC FROST and MAYHEM as major influences, they are one of the most revered bands of their generation. VENOM are still fronted by original singer/bassist Cronos and headline festivals all over the globe and continue to release new music.
In a 2018 interview with Consequence Of Sound, Cronos stated about his band's influence on subsequent extreme metal groups: "I really like to think of VENOM as a catalyst rather than inventors. Influence would probably be more like it. I've always been — from being young — a fan of what you'd call 'rock music.' From THE BEATLES to THE [ROLLING] STONES to THE WHO, through [LED] ZEPPELIN and [DEEP] PURPLE and everybody. So, I've always liked the idea of drums, guitar, this, that, and the other. My mum's brother used to play guitar in a country-western band, so I've always been around instruments and music. I've never really gotten into any of the electronic stuff when it came along in the '80s. I didn't really see how that was working for me in any way — I just like a drum kit and a guitar."
He continued: "When people used to ask back in the day, 'How do you describe VENOM?' I would say, 'It's all the best bits of the bands that I love.' So, if JUDAS PRIEST wear leather jackets, then I'm going to wear a leather jacket and a pair of leather pants! And if KISS have three flashpots on the front of the stage, I'm going to have ten! And if Ozzy Osbourne is going to sing about the devil walking down the street, then I'm going to be the devil walking down the street! It was taking all of the great things that I loved, and all the crazy frontmen, like Gene Simmons, Ian Anderson, Rob Halford, and encompassing all of these ideas into a new thing. And then, adding that dash of punk. That's why I always used to wear the big Doc Martens — that was my punk heritage.
"And just putting some aggression back into the music," Cronos added. "I mean, heavy metal has always been 'the devil's music.' They always say the devil has the best tunes, and I was bit frustrated at leaving school and being told that rock music was dead, and it had its day and everybody was finished with it. I had to absolutely disagree. So, when the New Wave of British Heavy Metal started in England — which became IRON MAIDEN, SAXON, SAMSON, and all these bands — I wanted to create something different from that. I appreciated that they were very heavily influenced by the ZEPPELINs, the PURPLEs, and the [BLACK] SABBATHs, and were trying to keep a hold of this '70s vibe. I get all of that, but I wanted something that was kind of a cross between SABBATH and MOTÖRHEAD. Something more aggressive — with a bit of SEX PISTOLS in there, to get nasty."
VENOM's 15th full-length studio album, "Storm The Gates", was released in December 2018 through Spinefarm Records.
VENOM is not to be confused with VENOM INC., the band featuring Mantas alongside ex-VENOM bassist/vocalist Tony "Demolition Man" Dolan. 8

SALIVA's "Crows" Hits Top 30 At Radio; Official Music Video PostedSaliva are in the Top 30 at radio with their latest single, "Crows". This is the highest charting song from Saliva since 2011. In addition, the band released the official music video for the single. Watch the clip below, and stream/download the song here.
"'Crows' is about being in a relationship with a person so who is unwilling to recognize the shadow side of their personality, which ultimately leads to destruction of their relationships. We wanted to do something different for the music video. As a band we all love The Halloween season, and horror flicks. Given the title and dark subject matter of the song this was the perfect opportunity to incorporate some of that creepiness into a video. The imagery in the video represents the duality that resides within each of us. Like the makeup and colors in the video, we all have light and darkness within. Our darkness, or shadow sides are the repressed ideas, desires, weaknesses, insecurities, and short comings that we all have, but find hard to accept. The man in this video has struggled to come to terms with his own light and dark side and has now recognized he cannot continue to be dragged down by a partner who is unwilling to do the same. Ultimately It is only in recognizing our shadows that we can take away their power over us," says Bobby Amaru, vocalist of the band.''
Saliva will continue to release tracks and ultimately a full album. The new music has a contemporary feel but sticks to the blue collar roots that their fans love.

OZZY OSBOURNE's Surprise Performance At 'Commonwealth Games' Came Together In Only Six DaysSharon Osbourne has opened up about Ozzy Osbourne's surprise performance at the closing of the Commonwealth Games in his original hometown Birmingham, England on Monday night (August 8). The BLACK SABBATH icon made a surprise appearance at the Games, declaring "Birmingham forever" as fireworks erupted. Ozzy performed "Paranoid", with BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi and two musicians from the band's final tour, Adam Wakeman, who played bass and keyboards, and drummer Tommy Clufetos, also on stage.
Sharon spoke about her husband's appearance at the Games on Talk TV, telling the channel: "They asked us six months ago, and Ozzy couldn't possibly have done it till after his last operation. They saw Ozzy was at Comic-Con and they said, 'All right. Come on. Get him over.' And we were, like, 'All right.' And literally it was six days from their phone call to getting him there. It was just incredible."
She continued: "Birmingham is an amazing city now. It's cosmopolitan. It's beautiful. No matter whatever he achieves in his life, no matter whatever he does, he's from Birmingham. He's so proud of coming from Birmingham."
Sharon also branded Ozzy a "born performer", saying: "He is very organic with everything. He is, and always will be, a working-class hero. He hasn't changed one inch."
Sharon added: "It is a great city with great people. I watched it in the front — I watched it at the front with the kids in the wheelchairs. It was just amazing. If you try hard enough, and you believe in yourself, you can get there. Kelly [Sharon and Ozzy's daughter] was there as well. fully pregnant — and the baby was kick, kick kicking because it was so loud!"
Sharon went on to praise Birmingham's friendliness and warmth, saying: "I have to tell you, a lot of people were in tears of joy. Just respect for [Ozzy]. We checked into a wonderful hotel which took care of us, and the girls showing us up to our room were all crying."
She said: "He's not a rocker with an island somewhere. He has always loved Birmingham."
A few years ago, Ozzy said that he was open to the possibility of a SABBATH reunion at the Commonwealth Games, telling ITV that it "would be fantastic" to play at the the opening ceremony for the 2022 Games. "With BLACK SABBATH or on my own," he said at the time.
Late last month, Iommi took part in the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony. Iommi and acclaimed saxophonist Soweto Kinch led a "dream sequence" piece, titled "Hear My Voice", based on the lead track from the 2020 film "Trial Of The Chicago Seven" at the event on July 28. After Tony and Soweto played an extended instrumental lead-in, they were joined by the City Of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and a 700-strong community choir.
The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games saw around 4,500 athletes from 72 nations and territories compete in 19 sports and eight para-sports across 15 competition venues from July 28 July until August 8. 7

As previously reported, JUDAS PRIEST will celebrate its 50th anniversary again this year with the launch of a new North American tour. Support on the "50 Heavy Metal Years" fall 2022 trek will once again come from QUEENSRŸCHE.
JUDAS PRIEST kicked off its spring/summer 2022 European tour with an intimate concert on May 31 in Berlin, Germany. For the gig, which was held at the 1,600-capacity Huxleys Neue Welt venue, singer Rob Halford and his bandmates ditched their traditional leather-and-studs look in favor of a more stripped-down appearance.
In May, Halford told ABC Audio that PRIEST was in the process of "tracking" follow-up to 2018's "Firepower" album.
"You can never have enough songs when you're making an album," he said. "Songs that you didn't even know you had bits and pieces and fragments of, suddenly they become an incredibly important part of your record."
Regarding the musical direction of the new JUDAS PRIEST material, Rob said: "The music that we're making now is representative of where PRIEST is at this probably sixth decade of our existence when it comes out… It sounds great. I'm really pleased. I'm really, really happy that… we're not dropping the ball. Not that we ever have. But it's good, because there are some elements in there that we've never… kind of discovered before."
More than a year ago, Halford confirmed that PRIEST's next album will see the band reuniting with the "Firepower" production team consisting of Andy Sneap, longtime collaborator Tom Allom and engineer Mike Exeter (BLACK SABBATH).
Bassist Ian Hill is the sole remaining original member of PRIEST, which formed in 1969. Halford joined the group in 1973 and guitarist Glenn Tipton signed on in 1974. Rob left PRIEST in the early 1990s to form his own band, then came back to PRIEST in 2003. Founding guitarist K.K. Downing parted ways with the band in 2011, and was replaced by Richie Faulkner.
Tipton was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease eight years ago after being stricken by the condition at least half a decade earlier. Tipton announced in early 2018 he was going to sit out touring activities in support of "Firepower". He was replaced by Sneap, who is also known for his work in NWOBHM revivalists HELL and cult thrash outfit SABBAT.
This past March, Faulkner told the "Metal From The Inside" podcast about the recording process for the new PRIEST album: "It's been slowed down a lot because of, obviously, the pandemic. We wanted to get together, like we did on 'Firepower', and record it together, but, obviously, the lockdowns and everything like that slowed that process [down]. Some of us live in the U.S., some of us live in the U.K., so getting together proved to be a bit difficult over the last couple of years. Now everything is kind of opening up, it's a bit easier, but now we're on the road, so we've got a touring cycle [to get through]. So, if we can, we might be able to do it in between the touring cycles."
As for when fans can expect to get the next PRIEST album, Faulkner said: "We don't have a release date. It's not finished. We've got the songs, but we've gotta record it. We've got drums down. I don't know if that's even been said yet. So we're gonna try and build it up as we move through this touring cycle. But as Rob always says, it'll be finished when it's finished. At this point in their career, there's no point in rushing anything, especially when we've waited this long through the pandemic to start doing it. It'll be done when it's done. But there will be another PRIEST record. We've got some great songs."
Regarding the musical direction of the new PRIEST material, Richie said: "It's different to 'Firepower', but it's definitely… You can hear where it's coming from. It's not even 'Firepower 2'… It's hard to say anything these days without people getting… If I say it's like a continuation of 'Firepower', people think it's 'Firepower 2'. It's got its own character, it's got its own legs, and we're looking forward to releasing it on to the world when it's done."
In February, Halford was asked by Remy Maxwell of Audacy Check In if he agreed with Faulkner's recent comment that the band's upcoming album will be more musically "progressive" than "Firepower". He responded: "Yeah, the metal is there. But here's the thing: we've tried our best not to replicate anything that we've done. From 'Rocka Rolla' all the way through to 'Firepower', each record has had a distinctive character. And it's tough because fans go, 'We want another 'Painkiller',' 'We want another 'British Steel'.' And [it's, like], 'Dude, we've already done that.'
"Fans know that we're a band that is always full of adventure and trying new stuff," he continued. "And so, yeah, this has got probably some more progressive elements that we've never really delved into before. And that's exciting, because, again, it gives us and our fans another opportunity to see a different side of PRIEST. But it's still metal. There's just more of it. There are more notes than there were before."
That same month, Faulkner told Canada's The Metal Voice about the overall sound of the new PRIEST music: "Whenever you start a record, you never know how it's gonna turn out. So you might start with an idea of what it's gonna be, and as it kind of rolls on, it comes out something different. So you don't quite know. And also it's really hard to sum up your own music, I find, without sounding really pretentious. But I think this one — it's not 'Firepower 2', I don't think. It's its own thing, it's its own animal. If anything, I would say it's a bit more progressive in places, and in places it's got a bit more of that 'Killing Machine' swagger."
Faulkner added: "I know everyone says, 'Oh, is it the next 'Painkiller'?' or 'Is it the next…?' whatever… I don't know if they'd ever done it, but I know we've never done it when I've been in the band; we've never tried to recreate an album. It's always we try to create an album that stands on its own legs. So I think it's definitely a little bit more progressive than 'Firepower' and, as I said, in places it's got a little bit of that 'Killing Machine' angry swagger attitude going on. But again, as I said, we're waiting to see what it turns out like, 'cause it could turn out completely different."
JUDAS PRIEST will receive the Musical Excellence Award at this year's Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, which will honor Eminem, Dolly Parton, DURAN DURAN, Lionel Richie, Pat Benatar, EURYTHMICS and Carly Simon in the Performers category.
The induction ceremony will be held on November 5, 2022 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. It will air at a later date on HBO and stream on HBO Max. There will also be a radio simulcast on SiriusXM's Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Radio channel 310.
According to the Hall Of Fame, the JUDAS PRIEST members that will get inducted include current members Halford, Hill, Tipton and Scott Travis (drums),along with former members Downing, Les Binks (drums) and late drummer Dave Holland. 1

ROY KHAN Is 'Extremely Thankful That KAMELOT Was Able To Continue Without' HimRoy Khan says that he is "extremely thankful" that KAMELOT was able to continue after he left the band.
The 52-year-old Norwegian singer announced his exit from KAMELOT in April 2011 after taking several months off to recover from a "burnout."
After his departure from KAMELOT, Khan, who is a devout Christian, joined a church in the coastal town of Moss, Norway.
In a brand new interview with Chaoszine, Roy — whose full name is Roy Sætre Khantatat — said about his split with KAMELOT (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I'm really, really extremely thankful that KAMELOT was able to continue without me, 'cause I had no intention to hurt the band. It was a very personal decision to quit the band and I simply had to. And I'm just glad that everything turned out in the end to be… They managed to go on without me, and I'm just very thankful for that, really."
Khan, who reformed his pre-KAMELOT band CONCEPTION four years ago and released an EP, 2018's "My Dark Symphony", and a full-length album, 2020's "State Of Deception", also confirmed that he is planning to eventually release a solo LP.
"The first thing I'm gonna do is I'm gonna do a streaming-type gig, which is actually pre-recorded," he explained. "And that's gonna be some sort of a kick-off to my solo thing, whatever that's gonna be. I have tons of songs that just need to be recorded. It's all about finding the time and inspiration, the right people and the energy…
"Making an album, a full album, is such a process," he explained. "When you're a band, we divide the work between us, but making a full album yourself, it's a lot of work and it really consumes you for such a long period of time. I mean, when you listen to a record, it's maybe an hour of music, maybe 45 minutes, but making those 45 minutes takes — if you count everything — maybe two or three years. And maybe you spend half a year in the studio, in and out, breaking things down, building them up again and changing things. It's a very energy-consuming and time-consuming process. So I guess I'm a little bit weary of eating myself up and ending up back where I was, where I left KAMELOT. Because part of it was it was just consuming my whole life. I was becoming this character that I was onstage. Even when I was home, I was Roy Khan. I'm not sure my wife and kids were too happy about that."
Asked about a possible release date for his streaming performance, Roy said: "There are people working on it right now, both the video and the audio, for this first thing that's already recorded. But that's gonna be cover songs. And the theme is gonna be 'my first'. So it's gonna be my first KAMELOT song, the first Norwegian song, with Norwegian lyrics, that I ever heard, the first song that I ever sang in a microphone — stuff like that. That's gonna be the kick-off for whatever this solo thing of mine is gonna be. But it should be out anytime. I just need to really get moving."
In April 2018, Khan released his first-ever solo song called "For All". The track, which was written by Khan, was recorded at Stable Studios in Oslo, Norway in March 2018 and featured Roy on vocals, piano and keyboards alongside Leif Johansen on fretless bass and Geir Olav Akselsen on all guitars.
Khan previously reflected on the circumstances that led to him ending his long working relationship with KAMELOT during an appearance last fall on the "Breaking Absolutes With Peter Orullian" podcast. Roy said: "That whole thing was a cocktail of several things that just happened to climax at that point. As you all, KAMELOT was getting more and more popular, so I was away months every year — like half the year at least I was gone. I was having a family, and that right there was starting to tear me apart. And then I was living my life not very healthy — let's put it that way — and I did a lot of stupid stuff back then that… I knew in my heart that it was going down the drain."
He continued: "I remember every night when I sang [the KAMELOT song] 'Karma', I would feel that this shit is gonna knock me on the back of the head at some point. If it's gonna tomorrow, [if] it's gonna be two years from now, I don't know, but the way I live my life, that's not gonna work — it's not sustainable. And then it happened. I knew for so many years, actually, that this was gonna not work out, and then, all of a sudden, it happened. I broke down. I had a full summer where I barely slept — like six to eight weeks where I didn't sleep a whole lot of hours during those six to eight weeks, and I was going really completely crazy. And in connection with that, a lot of stuff happened."
According to Khan, leaving KAMELOT after a 13-year run weighed heavily on him at the time.
"Quitting KAMELOT was the best decision that I've ever made, and by that I don't mean that… KAMELOT was a fantastic thing in my life, and Thomas [Youngblood, KAMELOT founder] and the other guys — it had nothing to do with them; it was all me and the way I lived my life, and I just couldn't take it any longer," he explained. "And I was also overworked — I worked all the time. Even when I was home. The first thing I'd do when I got back home is I would kick my shoes off in the hallway and I'd just sit right down at the computer and start working. I was really not a good husband and I was not a good father. Lots of things weren't good about me at that point.
"Quitting KAMELOT at that point, it was easy but it was hard," he elaborated. "It was easy because I didn't really have a choice. I was really wrecked. And at the same time, it was hard because I'd been working to get to that point my whole life, basically — 20 years, at least — and finally I was there. And then I threw the towel in and said, 'Hey, guys, I'm not coming in for the next tour.' 'Okay. Well, what's wrong?' 'Well, actually, I'm not coming back at all.' And obviously, everybody… My mom was, like, 'Are you kidding me? Are you serious?' Then the guys in the band, they thought that it was gonna pass. But I knew in my heart that summer [of 2010], already in August, I knew that that's it."
KAMELOT officially announced Tommy Karevik as its new lead singer in June 2012. The Florida-based band has recorded three albums so far with the Swedish vocalist: 2012's "Silverthorn", 2015's "Haven" and 2018's "The Shadow Theory".
Asked if he has listened to any of KAMELOT's recent material with Karevik, Roy told Italy's SpazioRock back in 2018: "Yes I have. I really like some of their new stuff. Sounds classical KAMELOT in my ears, and Tommy is a great singer." 5

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE Cancels August/September 2022 European Shows 'Per Medical Guidance'RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE has been forced to cancel the August and September 2022 European leg of the band's tour.
The cancelation comes a month after singer Zack De La Rocha appeared to injure his leg and had been performing while seated ever since.
Earlier today, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE released the following statement via social media: "Per medical guidance, Zack de la Rocha has been advised that the August and September 2022 UK and European leg of the RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE tour cannot proceed. It is with great disappointment that we announce this cancellation.
"RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE will be finishing their run at Madison Square Garden on August 11, 12 & 14 and then Zack must return home for rest and rehabilitation. The flights, travel time, and rigorous schedule in the UK and Europe are simply too much of a risk for a complete recovery.
"We are so sorry to all of our fans who have waited years to see us and hope to RAGE again soon.
"Please contact your point of purchase for refunds to any headline shows."
De La Rocha reportedly injured his leg four songs into the band's set at Chicago's United Center on July 11, while Zack and his bandmates were performing "Bullet In The Head", a classic song from the group's 1992 self-titled debut album.
A short time later, De La Rocha told the crowd: "I don't know what happened to my leg right now, but you know what? We're gonna keep this fuckin' shit goin'. If I have to crawl across this stage. We're gonna play for y'all tonight. We came too fuckin' far."
RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE kicked off its long-delayed "Public Service Announcement" tour on July 9 in front of roughly 30,000 fans at Alpine Valley Music Theatre in East Troy, Wisconsin. During the show, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE decried the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade and end the federal constitutional right to an abortion. De La Rocha repeatedly screamed "freedom" while a video screen flashed with statements about gun violence, black maternal mortality and abortion access.
"Forced birth in a country that is the only wealthy country in the world without any guaranteed paid parental leave at the national level," read the screen for several seconds.
The band opened its first show in 11 years with "Bombtrack", a song from RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE's classic 1992 debut album, and closed the set with "Killing In The Name". Other tracks performed during the concert included "Bulls On Parade", "Guerrilla Radio", "Sleep Now In The Fire", "Wake Up", "Testify" and a cover of Bruce Springsteen's "The Ghost Of Tom Joad".
RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE's comeback tour features support from RUN THE JEWELS.
The current tour marks the first time the reunited rap-metal quartet has hit the road together since 2011.
This past January, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE postponed the start date of the U.S. leg of its "Public Service Announcement" tour to this summer. The North American leg of the trek was originally slated to begin in March 2020 before it was rescheduled several times due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 19 RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE shows that were supposed to take place between March 31 and May 23 will now take place in early 2023.
Prior to the current tour, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE last played together at L.A. Rising and has resisted calls for a reunion, with De La Rocha previously believed to be the lone holdout. Guitarist Tom Morello and his fellow RAGE bandmates Tim Commerford (bass) and Brad Wilk (drums) have since teamed up with PUBLIC ENEMY's Chuck D. and CYPRESS HILL's B-Real in the similarly styled PROPHETS OF RAGE.
RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE recorded three original studio albums and one set of covers before breaking up in 2000. The group reformed in 2007 but only played sporadic gigs and never a full tour.

MEGADETH Shares New Single 'Soldier On!'"Soldier On!", a brand new song from MEGADETH, can be streamed below. The track is taken from the band's sixteenth studio album, "The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!", which will arrive on September 2 via UMe.
Featuring twelve new tracks, "The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!" will be made available on CD, vinyl, and cassette, as well as digitally through all online partners. There will also be a limited deluxe edition 2LP, 12-track album pressed on 180g black vinyl housed in a numbered gatefold jacket with a 12x24 lyrics/credits insert, a lenticular vinyl lithograph and a bonus seven-inch featuring "We'll Be Back" and the unreleased B-side "The Conjuring (Live)". The limited deluxe edition can only be purchased via MEGADETH's official online store, through Sound Of Vinyl and uDiscover.
The first song to be released from "The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!" was the ferocious, quintessentially MEGADETH track "We'll Be Back", which was accompanied by the world premiere of "We'll Be Back: Chapter I", an epic, action-packed short film chronicling the origins of Vic Rattlehead. Produced by MEGADETH leader Dave Mustaine, "We'll Be Back: Chapter I" is a soldier's tale of bravery, personal sacrifice, and the will to survive. It was the first installment of a trilogy of videos to be released in conjunction with the release of "The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!"
"The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!" consolidates a furious return to form that began with the Grammy-winning "Dystopia", while pushing forward musically and marking Mustaine's recent triumph over throat cancer. Reuniting visionary MEGADETH leader and sonic architect Dave Mustaine with co-producer Chris Rakestraw (DANZIG, PARKWAY DRIVE),who together helmed 2016's "Dystopia", the album was recorded at Mustaine's home studio in Nashville, Tennessee, with guitarist Kiko Loureiro and drummer Dirk Verbeuren. Bassist Steve DiGiorgio temporarily stepped in to record the album. With the kick-off of MEGADETH's recent tour, MEGADETH alumnus James LoMenzo rejoined the MEGADETH family as permanent bass player.
"For the first time in a long time, everything that we needed on this record is right in its place," Dave Mustaine enthused. "I can't wait for the public to get hold of this!"
Featuring some of Mustaine's strongest songwriting while also incorporating writing from the rest of the band, "The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!" brings together everything that's exhilarating and distinctive about MEGADETH. From the blistering throwback fury of "Night Stalkers" and first single "We'll Be Back", to the more mid-tempo and melodic "Soldier On!" and the very personal title track, with its enthralling twists and turns. "The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!" also features a cover of DEAD KENNEDYS' "Police Truck" and Sammy Hagar's "This Planet's On Fire", the latter of which includes vocals from Hagar himself.
"The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!" melds the ultra-frenetic riffing, fiercely intricate solos, and adventurous spirit the quartet are known for, all laced with signature virtuosity and precision and Mustaine's singular sardonic snarl. This album combines all the crushing musical motifs that have made MEGADETH both repeat metal disruptors and revered genre flagbearers.
Mustaine spoke about "Night Stalkers" in an interview earlier this year with Jose Mangin of SiriusXM Liquid Metal. He said: "It's a brutal song. I can't remember if that was the fastest one [on the new album] or not. But 'Night Stalkers' is about the 160th Battalion with the United States Army, and it's all the black-ops helicopters that go in at night — nobody knows they're there; they're in, they're out. And I had my buddy Ice-T join me on a part in the middle of it, because Ice was a ranger for the army, and he did two tours over in Afghanistan, I think it was. I think that was back in '91, when I first met him. It might have been a little earlier than that, but I know he was a ranger. And I had just done something on his last record. But when I asked him, I thought it would be great to have him because of his bravado and then the fact that he's got real credibility as someone who was there. And then we've got several other guys to participate in the track just to make it as real as possible. We're going up to the base to go film a bunch of helicopter footage and sounds and stuff like that. We've got three videos that we're making for this record right now down in Brazil, and we're combining all that production and the stuff from the base, with the helicopters and everything together, to make this first three-song video offering up."
Regarding Hagar's contribution to "This Planet's On Fire", Mustaine told SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk": "It's a super-heavy song. And the good thing about this [is] we didn't just do the song; [Sammy] played on it too. So we've got a little bit of some guitar; we've got a lot of bit of singing. I think it's super badass."
As for MEGADETH's decision to cover "Police Truck", Mustaine said: "It's no secret I'm a big DEAD KENNEDYS fan, and I had wanted to do 'Holiday In Cambodia', but my friends in LÄÄZ ROCKIT had done that, and I felt that [I would] just let them have their glory off of that rendition of that song, and if the time comes, I'm sure there's another song that'll stick out to me. And there was — it was the song 'Police Truck'. So we recorded that one."
"The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!" track listing:
01. The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!
02. Life In Hell
03. Night Stalkers (feat. Ice T)
04. Dogs Of Chernobyl
05. Sacrifice
06. Junkie
07. Psychopathy
08. Killing Time
09. Soldier On!
10. Célebutante
11. Mission To Mars
12. We'll Be Back
13. Police Truck (DEAD KENNEDYS cover)
14. This Planet's On Fire (Burn In Hell) (Sammy Hagar cover) (feat. Sammy Hagar)
Earlier this year, Mustaine confirmed that DiGiorgio laid down the bass tracks on "The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!"
There had been speculation about DiGiorgio's involvement in the new MEGADETH LP since July 2021, based on a Cameo video Mustaine recorded in which he offered the first glimpse of the bassist that re-recorded David Ellefson's bass tracks on the much-anticipated MEGADETH effort.
DiGiorgio is widely renowned as a pioneer on the fretless bass in heavy metal music, having played with TESTAMENT, DEATH and SADUS, among others. Within his genre, Steve is respected for his playing skills, versatility and incredible technique. He has more than 40 studio album recordings and over 20 years of touring the world.
In May, MEGADETH announced bass player James LoMenzo as a permanent member of the band. LoMenzo was MEGADETH's bass player in the mid-2000s and recently stepped back in as a touring member for "The Metal Tour Of The Year".
LoMenzo joined MEGADETH in 2006 and appeared on two of the group's studio albums, 2007's "United Abominations" and 2009's "Endgame". He was fired from the band in 2010 and replaced with returning original MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson.
In addition to MEGADETH, LoMenzo has played with Ozzy Osbourne, Zakk Wylde and WHITE LION. For the past nine years, LoMenzo has been performing with iconic rocker John Fogerty.
LoMenzo played his first show with MEGADETH in nearly 12 years last August in Austin, Texas. The concert took place three months following Ellefson's dismissal from MEGADETH after sexually tinged messages and explicit video footage involving him were posted on Twitter.
Ellefson laid down his bass tracks on MEGADETH's sixteenth LP in May 2020 at a studio in Nashville, Tennessee. A short time later, he raved about his performance on the record, telling the 96.7 KCAL-FM radio program "Wired In The Empire" that his musical chemistry with Verbeuren was comparable to the interplay between Geddy Lee and Neil Peart on classic RUSH albums. "I feel like on the new MEGADETH record, me and Dirk have those same moments," he said. "It's MEGADETH — it's not RUSH, obviously — but in the field of what we do, there were these moments that I was just going, 'Oh, my God.' This is me as a kid going, 'This is my Geddy/Neil moment right here.'"
In June 2021, Mustaine announced during an episode of his Gimme Radio program "The Dave Mustaine Show" that Ellefson's bass tracks would not be used on the new MEGADETH LP.
Ellefson was in MEGADETH from the band's inception in 1983 to 2002, and again from 2010 until his latest departure. 3

![DIAMOND HEAD To Release Lightning To The Nations (The White Album) [Remastered 2021] In September; Video Posted For "Lightning To The Nations" (Lost Original Mix)](/img/blank.gif)
DIAMOND HEAD To Release Lightning To The Nations (The White Album) [Remastered 2021] In September; Video Posted For "Lightning To The Nations" (Lost Original Mix)Diamond Head are of seminal importance to heavy metal music, and their debut album Lightning To The Nations is a key influence on the genre.
“We wrote instinctively,” explains co-founding member and riff lord Brian Tatler. “We had an undeniably unique sound. Four young lads, each with an element that, when combined, produced an alloy that was our own heavy metal sound.”
Lightning To The Nations (The White Album) [Remastered 2021] is the ultimate version of this ultimate album, which is set for release via Silver Lining Music on September 30. The release will feature not only the original album from ¼ inch master tapes which Lars Ulrich helped Brian Tatler retrieve back in 1990, but also alternative mixes of classic cuts “Lightning To The Nations”, “The Prince”, “Sucking My Love”, “Am I Evil?” and “Sweet And Innocent” never publicly released (or heard) before. There is also brand-new cover artwork based on an idea Brian Tatler had, to show a character referred to as ‘The Lightning God’.
“In 1990 as a celebration of the tenth anniversary of the NWOBHM, Lars Ulrich and Geoff Barton compiled the double album ‘New Wave of British Heavy Metal ‘79 Revisited’ which came out on Phonogram Records. It was Lars who made it his business to track down wherever possible the original master tapes because all he had were the old, often scratched singles,” recalls Brian. “He told me that he would often call up members of the bands they wanted to feature on the album and the confused guy on the other end of the phone would assume it was wind-up. ‘Who? Lars Ulrich? From Metallica? Fuck off!’ When Lars called me, I explained that the original ¼ inch masters for ‘Lightning To The Nations’ hadn’t been seen since they were sent by our old manager to a guy called Horgi at Woolfe Records years back. Apparently Horgi didn’t return the tapes, so Lars dispatched someone from Metallica’s German label to pay the guy a visit… The tapes were duly returned and after Phonogram had finished with them, Lars made sure they came home to me. I still have them stored safely.”
The original tapes were first quite literally baked (a process which allows degraded tape to be returned to playable quality), then restored and digitized before Diamond Head frontman Rasmus ‘Ras’ Bom Andersen remastered the tracks, ending up with a pristine edition of the original recordings and the recently discovered alternative mixes. Pure treasure for all fans of both Diamond Head and the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, the restored masters are supplemented by a set of bonus tracks originally recorded in 1980s. Rounding-out this ultimate edition are a set of deep and detailed notes on both the era and each song by Brian Tatler.
“I don’t really know what inspired ‘Lightning to the Nations’, says Tatler in his notes. “I can't think of any other song by any other band that sounds like it and that's a hell of a claim. Sean got the title from a painting he had seen in an art book somewhere and thought it would make a good title for a song. Once we had the song and it became track one, side one, it seemed like a good album title too. It’s still in the live set after forty-years.”
Watch a video for "Lightning To The Nations" (Original Lost Mix) below.
Lightning To The Nations (The White Album) [Remastered 2021], will be released as a double CD, a deluxe 180 gms gatefold triple-vinyl edition containing the original album remastered, the lost mixes and the bonus tracks. There will also be a single vinyl edition of just the remastered album, also on 180 gms. The complete recordings will also be available to stream and download. A 24-hour exclusive pre-sale is available now via the band’s D2C record store here; general retail pre-orders will be available from Friday, August 12 via the same link.

Spain’s NIGROMANTE Signs With Metal On Metal RecordsSpanish heavy metal band Nigromante have signed with Metal on Metal Records for the release of their second full-length Summon The Devil this September.
Commented the label:
"The second new signing we are happy to announce this year is a Spanish band Nigromante who self-describe their style as ‘Unholy Heavy Metal.’ They were formed back in 2003 and were the first to play old school heavy metal in this new millennium over there. Their vocalist and guitarist Ángel Muñoz, also known as Choco, is in big part responsible for the later explosion of the NWOTHM scene in their country mostly by having organized countless gigs and festivals as the founder of the Pounding Metal Union. After three demos, the band's debut album Black Magic Night was finally released in 2014 through Shadow Kingdom Records. We have to admit we missed it at that time and checked it only earlier this year, after Choco contacted us submitting their new album, which turned out to be far superior in every respect: they have improved the songwriting and individual skills immensely over those years, so the decision to offer them a deal was a no-brainer."
Here's what Choco had to say:
"We are really happy to return to activity as Nigromante and really proud to be working with Metal On Metal Records. We've known the label work for a long time, and been good friends with many of the bands in their roster. They work really hard for the bands they sign and pay a lot of attention to detail. For sure, together we are going to bring some great Unholy Heavy Metal to the world."
The band recently released a digital single "Die On A Lie", which can be checked on several platforms, and commented: "'Die On A Lie' is a song about something of sad actuality, it's about war and fallen warriors, about those who had to fight a war on false purposes, by the greed and hunger for power of their governors... and about how they will finally return with vengeance against those who sent them to 'Die On A Lie'."

NAMELESS KING – Dark Souls Inspired Video “Amalgamated Kin” ReleasedInspired by the trials and tribulation that can only be found in the Kingdom of Lothric, Vancouver’s Nameless King spin trashy, melodic tales about the people and places of Dark Souls 3. Back in March, they released their debut EP Order Of The Black Flame and now a video is ready for the track “Amalgamated Kin”.
The EP is a fast, in-your-face collection of four songs that are dynamic with many tempo changes and contain elements from different subgenres including melodic death metal, thrash metal, and even hints of prog, black, and deathcore. The track tells the story of one of the bosses featured in the game - a horrific beast-like creature, Oceiros, the Consumed King. Musically, it re-enacts the dramatic and frantic fight that ensues with the player - it’s mostly pure melodic death, accented with a very black metal chorus along with a hardcore two-step feel to the solo section.
The band explains the EP in their own words:
"With this EP we really wanted to set the best first impression possible with quality production and songwriting that wouldn’t feel out of place in a playlist with staple bands of the genre. We feel that even though it’s still early in the band’s life, we’ve already managed to carve out a sound that perfectly describes our identity and what we want to get out of creating music. It’s a perfect sum of all our different influences and the direction we want the band to keep going in. The response from people so far has been far beyond what we expected, and we don’t intend to ever stop that momentum.”
So far the reception to Order Of The Black Flame has blown away Nameless King. They have new songs in the works with more of the same style of heavy riffs, along with a bit more focus on melodic and hardcore elements. They are certain that fans of the first EP will love the new material when it comes out.
The EP was produced, mixed, and mastered by Jeff Black and its artwork was done by aleh_z.
Nameless King delivers trashy melodeath with occasional breakdowns that complement the horror themes throughout. They are recommended listening for fans of At The Gates, Mors Principium Est, and The Black Dahlia Murder.

Iran’s OUT OF NOWHERE Release “Personal” Music Video “Dying Sun”The Iranian metalcore outfit Out Of Nowhere has released their song “Dying Sun” after settling in Istanbul, Turkey. Since the premiere of their last music video, “Blind Crow”, on Knotfest’s website, the band has been going through the hardships every immigrant faces. They captured these hardships in their latest creative endeavor, “Dying Sun”.
Vocalist Amin says:
“‘Dying Sun’ is closely tied to our immigration which was one of the hardest things we’ve ever had to do. We had to leave our homes, families, jobs, and friends to pursue what we’ve worked hard for years because there was no room for progress for us in Iran. When we arrived in Turkey, we had to go through a hard process to achieve a decent standard of living which was one of the hardest times for our band. We intended to release new music sooner, but the immigration process didn’t let us do things on schedule. But thankfully, we managed to move through these issues.’”
Every immigrant will tell you how hard it is to leave everything behind and start a new life. Their new creative effort, ‘Dying Sun’ sees Out Of Nowhere transfer all the raw emotions tied to the journey they’ve been through this past year
Amin continues:
“This song is the chapter in our band’s personal diary about not letting go of our dreams in the face of adversity and working hard for the things we all believe in while also accepting the risks. I hope that Dying Sun will help anyone in a similar situation endure and keep pushing to achieve what they believe in. We chose the name ‘Dying Sun’ because we are all like suns that move closer to their end each day, but we also try to keep shining despite that.”
The Turkish scene is far superior for local artists than Iran because, unlike in Iran, artists in Turkey are permitted to perform live shows and even perform at big festivals without any unnecessary concerns like government intervention. Out Of Nowhere is currently working towards performing local shows in Turkey. Fans should expect several singles and eventually a twelve-song LP in the future.
“Dying Sun” was mixed and mastered by Joonas Vuojolahti at Cold Truth Music Studios. The music video was made by Darken Rush.

MELIAH RAGE, STEEL ASSASSIN Members Sign To Metal On Metal RecordsMetal On Metal Records have announced the signing of a new US power/heavy metal band from Boston, MA, Kingdom Of Tyrants featuring members of Meliah Rage and Steel Assassin. The band's debut album Architects Of Power is scheduled for the release this November.
To get an idea what to expect, check the video teaser featuring an excerpt from the track "Daedalus" which will be released in this rough mix version on the label's new compilation CD Compendium of Metal Vol. 15 in September.
Commented Jowita Kaminska-Peruzzi of Metal on Metal Records:
"We are proud to announce that Kingdom Of Tyrants, a brand new band comprising veterans of the Boston area metal scene has joined our roster. It was in March 2021 when our friend Anthony Nichols (Meliah Rage guitarist) told us his old band mate Mike Munro and Stu Dowie teamed up with two Steel Assassin guitarists to work on a new project. Being big fans of both bands, we were naturally very curious about the results of the collaboration of these talented musicians and really excited to hear Mike's awesome vocals again, so we contacted the guys and started talking, but it wasn't until almost one year later that we finally got to hear the first tracks. As expected, the songwriting was top-notch, while the style classic heavy metal with a bit of US power, so that was enough for us to know we definitely wanted to release their album."
The band added:
"Kingdom Of Tyrants is very pleased to announce signing on with Metal On Metal Records for the release of their debut record Architects Of Power. The band features former Meliah Rage vocalist Mike Munro, drummer Stu Dowie, and former Steel Assassin guitarists Kevin Curran and Mike Mooney. Long-time friend of both bands and musical cohort Dave Liolios takes the helm on bass guitar. The band looks forward to the collaborative effort with MOMR and is extremely excited to join the label and introduce their new compositions to metal fans worldwide."
