BURNING WITCHES To Release New Album 'The Witch Of The North' In May

BURNING WITCHES To Release New Album 'The Witch Of The North' In May

Swiss metallers BURNING WITCHES will release their fourth full-length album, "The Witch Of The North", on May 28 via Nuclear Blast Records.

Following 2020's "Dance Of The Devil", which charted at #22 in Germany, and the "Circle Of Five" EP, vocalist Laura Guldemond, guitarists Romana Kalkuhl and Larissa Ernst, bassist Jeanine Grob and drummer Lala Frischknecht notably upped the ante on "The Witch Of The North", delivering their most dynamic, intricate and powerful album thus far. Perfectly mixed and mastered by V.O. Pulver and produced by German thrash titan Schmier (DESTRUCTION), the LP sees BURNING WITCHES stick to their irrefutable 1980s influences (JUDAS PRIEST, IRON MAIDEN, DIO, ACCEPT, WARLOCK, W.A.S.P., etc.) and inject irresistible energy and a refreshing vibe, topping it off with classic art by Claudio Bergamín (who illustrated JUDAS PRIEST's triumphant "Firepower"). From the epic title track to the album's catchiest anthem "We Stand As One" over to the ballad "Lady Of The Woods" and speedy riff attacks like "Thrall", "Flight Of The Valkyries" and "Nine Worlds", "The Witch Of The North" marks a new highlight in the band's career, with vocalist Laura brilliantly shifting from aggressive to seductive with ease.

Says the band: "We are happy and proud to announce the new album already and show you the terrific cover art. We have grown together as a team and have evolved our sound to the next level; the WITCHES 2021 are heavier and more epic than ever! So is the cover: Claudio Bergamín's amazing art is the perfect reflection of the record: icy, mystical, timeless and powerful! Please meet the 'The Witch Of The North' and fall in love with our evolution!"

The cover it sets the mood for the enthralling journey through enchanted forests and across snow-capped mountain tops that is The Witch Of The North.

Says Bergamín: "The one and only Schmier, from DESTRUCTION, reached out to me to ask if I'd be interested in doing the new BURNING WITCHES album cover. Needless to say, I was delighted to jump on board. The band had a very unique concept so it took me a couple of weeks to come up with an idea I was happy with. They wanted a classic-looking illustration; pretty much in the vibe of Ken Kelly and Frank Frazetta. The Forest Witch was inspired by The Ents from 'Lord Of The Rings' and Botticelli's 'Birth Of Venus'. The girls' depictions were done in pure comic book style, and working on their faces to make them look as close as possible to the real people was a lot of fun. I wish more bands would ask me for that!"

"The Witch Of The North" track listing:

01. Winter's Wrath

02. The Witch Of the North

03. Tainted Ritual

04. We Stand As One

05. Flight Of The Valkyries

06. The Circle Of Five

07. Lady Of The Woods

08. Thrall

09. Omen

10. Nine Worlds

11. For Eternity

12. Dragon's Dream

13. Eternal Frost

The pre-order for "The Witch Of The North" will start on March 19.

BURNING WITCHES' first live performance with Guldemond took place in June 2019 at the Sweden Rock Festival in Sölvesborg, Sweden.

The vocalist of the Dutch symphonic metal band SHADOWRISE, Guldemond was recruited by BURNING WITCHES following the departure of Seraina Telli.

CATHARTIC DEMISE - In Absence Album Due In April, "For Power" Video Available Now

CATHARTIC DEMISE - In Absence Album Due In April, "For Power" Video Available Now

Canadian death / thrash metal quartert Cathartic Demise will release their new full-length album, In Absence, on April 9. The official video for the new single, "For Power," can be seen below. The single is also available on Bandcamp.

In comparison to the band's self-titled EP, In Absence still consists of the melo / prog / death thrash metal elements, but with a more "mature" approach. The overall musicianship within the band improved, as well as the overall songwriting capabilities. In Absence features the same aggression as the self-titled EP, but brings an intense atmosphere with extreme tempos, and brisk riffs. This release heavily carries on the epic melodic sections heard previously, and even going further with more complex song structuring and longer tracks. Aside from the aggressive side of things, hints of experimentation can be heard, showing slower sections, and clean parts as well.

In Absence was recorded and mixed by Jonah Kay at HM Studio in Waterloo, ON. The album was mastered by Jamie King, and features artwork by Ioannis Vassilopoulas.

Tracklisting:

"With Lust"
"For Power"
"Blade In The Dark"
"Silence Within"
"Pale Imitations"
"Disparity"
"In Absence"
"Waves"
"Desire"

THE NOCTAMBULANT Stream "Hellrazor" Video

THE NOCTAMBULANT Stream "Hellrazor" Video

Florida's The Noctambulant have released their stunning video for "Hellrazor". The song is from their upcoming album of the same name which will be released on March 5th. The song is the perfect representation of how the band has transformed from straightforward melodic black metal into an aesthetic more authentic to their southern Floridian roots.

Frontman E. Helvete commented, “For me personally, this rebrand and music video was very personal. The video was shot on our family property, of which I”m the 4th generation to live here. I spent so many years trying to fit into the Scandanavian/European motif, that it started to feel disingenuous. So after our last album, The Cold And Formless Deep, the band and I decided to look at what makes us unique in the Black Metal landscape, and that is our origin. From the swamps and bayous of the south, we found a love of extreme metal tempered with our own brand and influences.”

BUTCHER BABIES Release Third New Single, 'Yorktown'

BUTCHER BABIES Release Third New Single, 'Yorktown'

BUTCHER BABIES have released another new single, "Yorktown". The song, which features a guest solo from guitarist Andy James (FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH), was produced and co-written by Matt Good (FROM FIRST TO LAST), and can be streamed below. It is the third taste of the band's forthcoming EP, tentatively due later this year via an as-yet-undisclosed record label. Previously released tracks "Bottom Of A Bottle" and "Sleeping With The Enemy" are also available below.

BUTCHER BABIES singer Carla Harvey said: "What the hell is Yorktown, you ask? Well, it's our very own little Gotham, a world we've created wherein two vamps patrol the city at night while stalking each other like prey! The magic happens when our two anti-heroines form an alliance to defeat the seedy Yorktown underbelly.

"It's one of my favorite BUTCHER BABIES songs that we've written as of late; a true nod to our love for building characters and storytelling over heavy riffs. We scream, we sing…we save Yorktown from impending doom."

An official music video for "Yorktown" will premiere this coming Monday, February 15.

BUTCHER BABIES co-vocalist Heidi Shepherd said: "When writing the song 'Yorktown', it was fairly obvious as to what the video was going to look like. A superhero with nine lives! But this is BUTCHER BABIES, and what is better than one superhero? TWO SUPERHEROES! Offering a nod to female empowerment, when strong females unite, we can take over the world. Our two characters form a bond and promise to defend the residents of Yorktown together.

"From concept to edit, we had a hand in all aspects of our very own 'Gotham'. This video was filmed in Orem, UT at my parents' film studio, Shepherd Grip & Lighting, where the entire family joined forces to bring this idea to life. You can definitely say that this was a family affair. Both of my parents and all of my five siblings created the set design, lighting design, ran all the equipment, and took on many roles in front of and behind the camera. We were lucky to snag my brother-in-law, famed VFX artist Aaron Sorensen as our director.

"From the all of stunts to the performances, we are so excited to show the world the silly, comic side of BUTCHER BABIES. After all, we all have a little superhero in us waiting to break free!"

Asked in a recent interview with Syfy Wire's "Metal Crush" how BUTCHER BABIES' new material differs from 2017's "Lilith", Shepherd said: "It differs a lot. You still have the classic BUTCHER BABIES metal behind us, but I found myself wanting to sing more.

"When I first started BUTCHER BABIES, I was an angry young girl, and I had a lot to scream about. I'm a happy 35-year-old woman now, so I have a lot that I wanna sing about."

During a recent appearance on the "Hardcore Humanism With Dr. Mike" podcast, Shepherd and Harvey discussed their decision to part ways with their longtime record label. Century Media released the band's first three albums, including "Lilith", which reached No. 11 on the Billboard Independent Albums chart and No. 15 on the Hard Rock Albums chart.

"When we decided to exit our record label, it was a really hard decision," Heidi said. "We had the opportunity, and they were offering us money, to stay. And we didn't feel like it was going well, in a way. So, we just kind of, like, we dipped out. And ever since then, we've gone back and forth, like, kicking ourselves: Did we make the right decision? Did we not make the right decision? Like, how could we — we've always been signed, you know, and what kind of decision was that to not be signed? It felt almost, like, 'Shit, what did we do?' And I think that's where we were when we were writing the songs — like, why did we make this sort of decision? Well, now fast forward, as the songs are coming out. I don't feel as, like, 'Oh, crap.' I feel, like, okay, maybe we did make the right decision, because things are just fine. And it was a gamble. And having that gamble, I think, puts you in a really vulnerable state, by all means, and it was a huge decision. And in the end, I'm glad we made it. But I spent a couple of years really kicking myself about it. But the end result did turn out okay, and we've had it where the end result didn't turn out okay. We've had both."

Added Carla: "But that's okay, because the other special thing about our band — at least the three of us, the core members that have been together for so long — we're adaptable in all areas of our life, and that's a huge, huge thing to have on your side. And I've found that most people are not. If something changes in their life, it really sets them off, and they go off the deep end. But with us, we analyze the situation and really think about what we can do to put it back in our favor, and we're all committed to fixing it, even if it takes a while."

In July 2019, longtime BUTCHER BABIES bassist Jason Klein announced his departure from the band. He has since been replaced by Ricky Bonazza.

ALICE IN CHAINS' WILLIAM DUVALL Mourns Death Of Influential Jazz Drummer MILFORD GRAVES

ALICE IN CHAINS' WILLIAM DUVALL Mourns Death Of Influential Jazz Drummer MILFORD GRAVES

ALICE IN CHAINS frontman William DuVall has mourned the passing of Milford Graves, a pioneering jazz drummer most commonly associated with the free jazz movement. Graves died of congestive heart failure on February 12 at the age of 79.

DuVall, who spent more than a decade working on a yet-to-be-released documentary about Graves, took to his Instagram late Friday to share a 2016 photo of him and Milford, and he wrote in an accompanying message: "It was confirmed a few hours ago that Milford Graves has died.

"A master musician, scientist, naturalist, educator, and inventor of his own martial art, Milford was one of the great geniuses humanity has ever produced. He was a self-made warrior/philosopher of the highest order.

"For anyone who saw him perform or spoke to him for more than a few seconds, the force and depth of his energy and knowledge was undeniable.

"I've been working on a film about Milford for over ten years. There have been numerous location shoots in New York, Boston, Los Angeles, Italy, Chile, Brazil. I've interviewed rock stars who've been influenced by him, jazz legends who were his colleagues and contemporaries, cutting edge scientists who've worked with and admired him, students who had their lives changed by his teachings. And, of course, there are hours and hours of one-on-one interviews between Milford and myself.

"It's been a journey, to say the least. The central struggle of that journey has been distilling Milford's greatness into a digestible film that comes anywhere close to doing him justice. I haven't been able to get it right yet. I'm not sure it's possible. And now, no matter what I do, I've run out of time for Milford to ever see it. That saddens me beyond words.

"I'm well aware that tomorrow is guaranteed to none of us. But if there was anyone that I could picture living to be a 500-year-old Zen master, it was Milford Graves. Whenever he and I were discussing someone who had died, Milford would always refer to them as having 'left the planet.' Today, though it's difficult for me to accept, it was Milford's time to leave. But he'll never be completely gone. He's made such a profound impact on so many people. He'll certainly live on in everything I do. I loved and truly admired the man.

"What a crazy ride the last ten years have been. What incredible events and discoveries we documented. What a privilege to have him call me 'brother.'

"Tonight, my heart is with his wife, Lois (the love of his life since 7th grade), their children, and their grand-daughter who is the apple of Milford's eye."

An early trailer for DuVall's documentary, tentatively titled "Ancient To Future - The Wisdom Of Milford Graves", can be seen below.

Graves had been battling amyloid cardiomyopathy — also known as stiff heart syndrome — since 2018, when he was diagnosed and given six months to live.

BLACK SABBATH's GEEZER BUTLER Receives Second Dose Of COVID-19 Vaccine

BLACK SABBATH's GEEZER BUTLER Receives Second Dose Of COVID-19 Vaccine

BLACK SABBATH bassist Geezer Butler received his second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine earlier today (Friday, February 12).

The 71-year-old took to his Instagram to share that he got the final dose of the vaccine. He posted a photo of him wearing a face mask and sporting sticker on his left arm that reads: "I got my COVID-19 vaccine!" He wrote in an accompanying caption: "Second vaccination completed. Can I go to England now? #please #missingtherain #longestivebeenaway".

Also today, Geezer's SABBATH bandmate Ozzy, who turned 72 in December, revealed that he received his first dose of the coronavirus vaccine on Thursday (February 11).

Last fall, Butler told Australia's Wall Of Sound that he has used some of the downtime during the coronavirus pandemic to start work on a book.

"I'm currently putting together a book about growing up in Aston, Birmingham and how SABBATH came about," he said, "but I'm really enjoying semi-retirement and not having to do anything or be anywhere, especially after being away from home for most of the last 50 years."

Butler also reflected on everything he has achieved in this past half a century, saying: "It's a great achievement to still be relevant 50 years after we recorded our first two albums. We honestly thought we'd last a few years, then be forgotten about. Fifty years ago any form of popular music was seen as a passing fad — people even thought THE BEATLES would be forgotten about after they broke up, but nobody then [realized] how powerful the nostalgia effect would be."

A founding member of BLACK SABBATH, Butler is also the lyricist of such SABBATH classics as "War Pigs", "Iron Man", "Paranoid" and others.

Butler, Osbourne and guitarist Tony Iommi reunited in late 2011 and released a comeback album, "13", in June 2013.

In February 2017, SABBATH finished "The End" tour in Birmingham, closing out the quartet's groundbreaking 49-year career.

"The End" was SABBATH's last tour because Iommi, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2012 and is currently in remission, can no longer travel for extended amounts of time.

QUEEN's ROGER TAYLOR Urges Britons To Get COVID-19 Vaccine

QUEEN's ROGER TAYLOR Urges Britons To Get COVID-19 Vaccine

QUEEN drummer Roger Taylor has urged fellow Britons to get the COVID-19 vaccine, saying those who choose to not receive the shot should not "expect the services" of United Kingdom's National Health Service (NHS).

Earlier today (Saturday, February 13), the 71-year-old musician took to his Instagram to write: "As they become available, everyone should have a vaccine. Those who refuse to have a vaccine and subsequently become ill from Covid, thereby putting other lives at risk, cannot expect the services of the glorious and under pressure NHS. PLEASE have a vaccine."

According to BBC News, more than 14 million people in the U.K. have had at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

A quarter of U.K. adults have already received one dose, including around nine in 10 over-70s.

Overall uptake of the vaccine has been high, with a 93% take-up rate among the over-75s in England, according to the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC).

A new Kaiser Family Foundation poll showed almost a third of U.S. adults are undecided on whether they'll get the COVID-19 vaccine.

The poll, released Friday, found that 31 percent of adults are going to "wait until it has been available for a while to see how it is working for other people" before receiving the coronavirus vaccine.

America's two main vaccines have shown 95% efficacy against the coronavirus.

As of late January, the CDC discovered that only 11 per 1 million people experienced severe reactions from the Pfizer vaccine, and only 2.5 per 1 million people who received the Moderna dose.

SYSTEM OF A DOWN's JOHN DOLMAYAN Defends GINA CARANO After LUCASFILM Fires Actress For Offensive Posts

SYSTEM OF A DOWN's JOHN DOLMAYAN Defends GINA CARANO After LUCASFILM Fires Actress For Offensive Posts

SYSTEM OF A DOWN drummer John Dolmayan has defended actress Gina Carano after she was ousted from "The Mandalorian" over controversial social media posts, saying "history will condemn the cowards who instituted woke justice against her."

Carano — a former MMA fighter who played Cara Dune in the hit Disney+ show — was dropped over a post that likened being a conservative in modern America to being a Jew in Nazi Germany.

"Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future," a spokesperson for Lucasfilm, which is owned by Disney, said in a statement. "Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable."

Late Thursday night (February 11), Dolmayan took to his Instagram to write: "It takes a lot of guts to put your career on the line for your convictions. History will honor people like @ginajcarano and condemn the cowards who instituted woke justice against her."

In one of her since-deleted Instagram posts, Carano implied that there are similarities between being a Republican today and Jewish people living during the Holocaust.

"Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors … even by children. Because history is edited, most people today don't realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views," the post she shared read.

This is not the first time Carano's social media posts have generated controversy. Back in November, the 38-year-old actress, who has been vocal about her support for then-president Donald Trump, openly questioned whether the 2020 presidential election was fair. At the time, she tweeted: "We need to clean up the election process so we are not left feeling the way we do today. Put laws in place that protect us against voter fraud."

After Lucasfilm confirmed Carano's exit from "The Mandalorian", some of her fans launched a campaign to boycott Disney+. The hashtag #CancelDisneyPlus has also been trending.

Carano has also been dropped by her agency, United Talent Agency, according to multiple repo

MIKKEY DEE Says Playing With SCORPIONS Is 'So Much More Physically Demanding' Than Performing With MOTÖRHEAD Ever Was

MIKKEY DEE Says Playing With SCORPIONS Is 'So Much More Physically Demanding' Than Performing With MOTÖRHEAD Ever Was

Former MOTÖRHEAD and current SCORPIONS drummer Mikkey Dee was recently interiewed on "Drum For The Song", the podcast hosted by Dane Campbell, son of ex-MOTÖRHEAD guitarist Phil Campbell. You can now watch the chat below.

Asked what the main difference is between playing with MOTÖRHEAD and touring with SCORPIONS in terms of how he paces himself for each individual band's setlist, Dee said: "A lot of people say, 'Hey, listen, Mikkey, you're probably sleeping through the [SCORPIONS] set.' And I'm telling you, this is so much more demanding than MOTÖRHEAD ever was, physically. Because, as you know, if I was starting to lose my breath here and there with MOTÖRHEAD, I could just shout at your dad or Lemmy and go, 'Hang on, boys. Have a drink,' and pretend to tune up the snare a little bit. And Lemmy and Phil, they were not very hard to [convince] to get a break. They went around their stacks and took a drink, and we said, 'Cheers,' and you could even actually have a chat on stage for a while. But with the SCORPIONS, it's all on a click track, because of our screens — the production. And I do play around the click, but it has to work with the lyrics and stuff on the screens and what's going on with the production, which we never had with MOTÖRHEAD.

He continued: "So every show [with the SCORPIONS] is exactly the same length — on the fucking second or minute… Klaus [Meine, SCORPIONS singer] cues whatever he says. So it could be one or two minutes difference between the sets, on two-and-a-half-hour sets. So it's very demanding. It goes up and down, the set, and there's a part in the set after we've done the acoustic medley, and then we come up and do 'Wind Of Change' — I'm actually freezing on stage. And then it's about 40 minutes, 45 minutes of non-stop… We do heavy, heavy songs, and a drum solo, straight into 'Blackout', straight into 'Big City Nights'. I mean, there's 45 minutes where I don't even have a chance to change drum sticks. So that is very, very demanding for me. But it's great — it's a challenge, and I love it. But the more tired I get on stage, the better I play."

Mikkey added: "We usually did 90 minutes, with MOTÖRHEAD, and when we played with other bands, it could be 60 or 70 minutes. But MOTÖRHEAD, we controlled the set ourselves, and here and there, Phil ran outside and changed his guitar or took a piss, or Lemmy disappeared off stage and no one knew what he was doing. We could run it ourselves more in a different way."

Dee also talked about the progress of the recording sessions for SCORPIONS' new album, which is tentatively due later in the year. The disc was recorded in part at Peppermint Park Studios in Hannover, Germany and will mark the German hard rock legends' first release since 2017's "Born To Touch Your Feelings - Best Of Rock Ballads", which was an anthology of SCORPIONS' new and classic material.

"Most of the songs have been written by Rudolf [Schenker, SCORPIONS guitarist] and Klaus, and some of Matthias's [Jabs, guitar] stuff, but in the studio now, we've been changing quite a bit," he said. "So I don't feel like I'm actually writing the songs with them, but I definitely made a lot of changes with the guys. And all four of us are playing live in the studio. It's a big, big room, and we all have our separate station. And Klaus has sang some scratch vocals on all these songs, so he can cue on stuff and see what actually the song is all about. But the actual music is played live. And I have no idea if SCORPIONS ever did a record like this — maybe in the '70s. So it's a heavier record. It's gonna take a lot of people [by] surprise. It's a very wide album. It's gonna be classic SCORPIONS stuff, and it's gonna be almost songs [that sound like SCORPIONS have gone] back to the '70s. I'm really looking forward to listening to this as a finished record."

SCORPIONS originally intended to record the new album in Los Angeles with producer Greg Fidelman, whose previous credits include SLIPKNOT and METALLICA. However, because of the pandemic, most of the work so far has been done remotely, with Fidelman taking part via Zoom.

Meine recently said that SCORPIONS' new LP will feature "no outside writers at all," unlike 2015's "Return To Forever", which was largely co-written by the album's producers, Mikael Nord Andersson and Martin Hansen.

Fidelman began his career as the guitarist and songwriter for RHINO BUCKET before launching his career as a producer, engineer and mixer, finding an early mentor in Rick Rubin.

SCORPIONS' last full-length collection of new recordings was the aforementioned "Return To Forever", partially comprising songs the band had in the vault from the '80s. It was the final recorded appearance of SCORPIONS' longtime drummer James Kottak, who was dismissed from the band in September 2016.

CHRIS JERICHO's KISS Covers Band KUARANTINE Is Back With Third Single, 'Love's A Deadly Weapon'

CHRIS JERICHO's KISS Covers Band KUARANTINE Is Back With Third Single, 'Love's A Deadly Weapon'

Last year, FOZZY singer Chris Jericho joined forces with TRIXTER bassist P.J. Farley (TRIXTER), guitarist Joe McGinness and drummer Kent Slucher to form a 1980s KISS cover band called KUARANTINE. The band's latest video, for the song "Love's A Deadly Weapon", which originally appeared on KISS's 1985 album "Asylum", can be seen below.

Jericho said: "After the huge response to the first two KUARANTINE singles and the hundreds of thousands of views and streams they accrued, we agreed it was time to release our next magnum opus, 'Love's A Deadly Weapon'. It's heavy, trashy, proggy and most importantly, catchy AF! So cuddle up to your Valentine and enjoy the filthiest love song ever... You're welcome."

KUARANTINE's "Love's A Deadly Weapon" is now available everywhere for streaming and download via Madison Records with distribution by The Orchard.

Jericho previously said about KUARANTINE's formation: "When Kent & Joe approached me to sing on a few 80s KISS songs, I jumped at the chance, as it's my favorite era of my favorite band. Once we brought in PJ, not only did we have a world-class band with years of touring experience, we also had four guys with one common bond: to stay creative and to do something special for all music fans during this pandemic."

In addition to his world-renowned wrestling career, first with World Wrestling Entertainment and now with All Elite Wrestling (AEW), Jericho is the lead singer of the internationally successful rock band FOZZY, which will release its new album later this year. The group's eighth full-length will feature the band's latest single, "Nowhere To Run", their third Top 10 hit on Active Rock Radio. The pop culture icon is also the host of "The Rock Of Jericho" weekly radio show on SiriusXM Octane and the widely popular "Talk Is Jericho" podcast, an Official Honoree at last year's Webby Awards, as well as a four-time New York Times best-selling author and actor. For the past two decades, Chris Jericho has established himself as a multi-faceted talent with tens of millions of fans worldwide.

For KUARANTINE, Jericho has surrounded himself with a group of top-notch touring musicians. Kent Slucher has been the powerhouse behind the kit at Luke Bryan's shows for the past 12 years, from small clubs to headlining stadiums and amphitheaters. SEETHER Releases 'Fan Version' Of 'Dangerous' Video

SEETHER has shared a special fan version video of its hit single "Dangerous" that features an array of at-home performances submitted by a collection of its most ardent and talented admirers. The video premiered on SEETHER's official YouTube channel this morning along with the band's heartfelt message of appreciation for their fans' unwavering support of their latest album, "Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum" (If You Want Peace, Prepare For War). Released last summer, the album debuted at No. 2 on Billboard's Hard Rock chart while "Dangerous" hit No. 1 at rock radio for three consecutive weeks last fall.

Last month, SEETHER shared the official music video for the LP's second single, "Bruised And Bloodied". Previously the band released videos for fan-favorite album tracks "Beg" and "Wasteland" while also highlighting songs from its multi-platinum-selling catalog with a series of virtual acoustic performance videos.

To celebrate its 20th anniversary, SEETHER released three of its classic albums — "Disclaimer II", "Karma And Effect" and "Finding Beauty In Negative Spaces" — on vinyl for the very first time in November via Craft Recordings. Released early in the band's remarkable run, these three albums exemplify the distinctive musicianship and songcraft for which SEETHER is best known and helped solidify them as one of the most successful hard rock bands in the world.

Since forming in Pretoria, South Africa in 1999, SEETHER has amassed a global fan base that has grown organically with the quartet's sense of purpose and commitment spreading outwards, offering their fans around the world camaraderie, comfort and a sense of personal power. While others of their ilk faded away, SEETHER maintains a strong sense of self, ignoring trends and critics in favor of a consummate devotion to their craft. Their impressive sales and chart history includes three platinum and two gold albums, 16 No. 1 singles (including 2017's "Let You Down", 2014's "Words As Weapons" and 2011's "Tonight"); 20 Top 5 multi-format hits, with U.S. singles sales topping 17 million and over 1.5 billion streams worldwide across all platforms.

They are also creators of the Rise Above Fest, founded in 2012 to raise awareness for suicide prevention and mental illness. Past headliners of the annual gathering include Slash, GODSMACK, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, PAPA ROACH and many more. Since conception, the Rise Above Fest has turned into a broader movement, expanding its presence at additional music festivals around the globe. All SEETHER shows donate $1 of ticket sales to benefit the SAVE (Suicide Awareness Voices Of Education) organization.

Former FLYLEAF Singer LACEY STURM Collaborates With SKILLET On New Solo Single 'State Of Me'

Former FLYLEAF Singer LACEY STURM Collaborates With SKILLET On New Solo Single 'State Of Me'

Making history as the first female solo artist to top the Hard Rock Albums chart with her acclaimed "Life Screams" (2016), Lacey Sturm returns today (Friday, February 12) with her second single, "State Of Me", from her highly anticipated sophomore project, due this summer. The platinum-selling, Grammy-nominated former frontwoman of FLYLEAF wrote the new song with SKILLET's John and Korey Cooper. The single is available now at digital and streaming outlets everywhere from Followspot Records / The Fuel Music.

Marking a continued return to Lacey's hard-rock roots, "State Of Me" extends an aggressive, musically violent lifeline to herself, and to those hanging over the precipice; those drowning under a crushing weight.

"Choosing life is violent in that we reject every subtle form of suicide, every eternal death choice that would try to disorient, distract and seduce us away," says Lacey, who lost someone close to her in this season and has herself narrowly escaped suicide twice in her life. "Eternal life starts in our soul. So look at the state of it. And if you see eternal death, be violent against it, cut off every temporary thing that would bring that into your heart and reach out and cling to eternal life, even if it costs you this temporary one."

Produced, recorded and mixed by Lacey's husband Josh Sturm, "State Of Me" follows the release of "The Decree", and remains uncommonly true to the artist's experience.

"During times of loss, it's obvious that what we see is temporary. We have to accept that. But what lingers after loss is what we can't see. That is eternal," continues Lacey. "What really matters is love, faith, the spirit. The soul. When I focus there, on the eternal things, I find a tremendous resolve to protect what matters most."

Performing live with SKILLET before the pandemic shut down arena tours, Lacey has since been writing new music and finding creative ways to connect with fans. Singing on BREAKING BENJAMIN's 2020 single "Dear Agony (Aurora Version)", which peaked at No. 13 on the Billboard 200 after 20 weeks on the chart while racking up well over 10 million views on YouTube alone, Lacey has also performed with SHINEDOWN and others on drive-in theater stages and has hit virtual stages along with METALLICA, THREE DAYS GRACE, SEETHER and others during the Recording Academy-sponsored Octane Home Invasion festival.

Sturm left FLYLEAF in October 2012. She was replaced by Kristen May, who recorded one album with the group, 2014's "Between The Stars", before exiting.

Waterdog by AraPacis is an intriguing 8-song mix of traditional hard rock, doom and prog album and features the keyboards of former Rainbow and Max Webster member David Stone, the versatile guitar playing of leader Jerry Fielden, and the gutsy voice of frontwoman Michelle Macpherson. It will be released on Blackhouse Records in physical format and Bullseye Records of Canada, Inc. in digital format in the Spring of 2021.

AraPacis (Ara-Patches) is a female-fronted metal band hailing from Montreal, Quebec. Formed in 2003 by guitarist Jerry Fielden, fronted by Scots singer Michelle Macpherson, and supported by the keyboard wizardry of ex-Rainbow member David Stone, their main goal is to re-create some of the original aspects of 1970's hard rock and progressive rock and fuse it together with 21st century prog metal, doom metal & metalcore to make an interesting metal hybrid.

AraPacis have shared the stage with acts such as Blaze Bayley, Uli Jon Roth, Anvil, Raven, The Agonist, Doro and more. They have now released eight albums and thre EPs. The band has also had noted guests on their albums including Guy LeBlanc (RIP) of Camel, Steph Honde (Di'Anno, Hollywood Monsters), Don Airey (Deep Purple, Rainbow, Jethro Tull), Vinny Appice (Black Sabbath, Dio), Kayla Dixon of Witch Mountain, and John Gallagher of Raven, amongst others. ALICE COOPER - "Billion Dollar Babies" Live Video From A Paranormal Evening At The Olympia Paris

ALICE COOPER - "Billion Dollar Babies" Live Video From A Paranormal Evening At The Olympia Paris

A Paranormal Evening At The Olympia Paris is included in the Ltd. CD+DVD Digipak and Ltd. CD Box Set edition of Alice Cooper's new studio album Detroit Stories - out February 26. Pre-order here, and check out "Billion Dollar Babies" below.

Named for the city that launched the original Alice Cooper group on the road to success, Detroit Stories follows last year’s Breadcrumbs EP as a modern-day homage to the toughest and craziest Rock n Roll scene there ever was.

In 1970, fledgling producer Bob Ezrin walked into a farmhouse on the outskirts of Detroit to work with the Alice Cooper band. Abandoning flower power Los Angeles, because they were the opposite of the hippie peace and love ideal, Alice had brought his decidedly darker gang back to his birthplace to the legendary rock scene that gave birth to hard rock, garage rock, soul, funk, punk…and more.

Ezrin drilled the band for 10 hours a day to define their signature sound. Whenever they nailed a song, the inmates at the hospital for the criminally insane across the road cheered and thus the classic Alice Cooper sound was born.

“Detroit was Heavy Rock central then,” explains Alice, “You’d play the Eastown and it would be Alice Cooper, Ted Nugent, the Stooges and the Who, for $4! The next weekend at the Grande it was MC5, Brownsville Station and Fleetwood Mac, or Savoy Brown or the Small Faces. You couldn’t be a soft-rock band or you’d get your ass kicked.”

“Los Angeles had its sound with The Doors, Love and Buffalo Springfield,” he says, “San Francisco had the Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane. New York had The Rascals and The Velvet Underground. But Detroit was the birthplace of angry hard rock. After not fitting in anywhere in the US (musically or image wise) Detroit was the only place that recognized the Alice Cooper guitar driven, hard rock sound and our crazy stage show. Detroit was a haven for the outcasts. And when they found out I was born in East Detroit… we were home.”

50 years later Alice and Ezrin gathered some legendary Detroit musicians in a Detroit studio to record Detroit Stories, Alice Cooper’s new album that celebrates that spirit for a new era. If 2019’s “Breadcrumbs” EP laid down the trail to the city, Detroit Stories drives like a muscle car right down Woodward Ave.

“We recorded with Wayne Kramer (guitarist and writer from the MC5), Johnny “Bee” Badanjek (drums - from the legendary Detroit Wheels), Paul Randolph (legendary Detroit jazz and R&B bassist) as well as the Motor City Horns and other local musicians,” explains Ezrin, “We had musical ideas and encouragement from John Varvatos, the support of the folks at Shinola, and we recorded at Rustbelt Studios in Royal Oak. This was Made In Detroit for Detroit by Detroit denizens!”

Discover Detroit Stories as they were meant to be told.

Detroit Stories will be available on CD, CD+DVD Digipak, CD Box Set (including CD, Blu-ray, T-shirt, face mask, torch light and 3 stickers), and 2LP Gatefold on February 26th on earMUSIC.

The DVD and Blu-ray will show the incredible live performance, A Paranormal Evening At The Olympia Paris, for the first time on video. With the whole concert culture being shut down due to COVID-19, Alice Cooper felt the need to share one of his latest shows with his fans as he cannot wait to get back on the road - better than ever.

STEVE VAI Pays Tribute To Legendary Jazz Composer CHICK COREA - "He Was Brilliant Beyond Beyond; Thank You For All You Gave Us"

STEVE VAI Pays Tribute To Legendary Jazz Composer CHICK COREA - "He Was Brilliant Beyond Beyond; Thank You For All You Gave Us"

On February 9th, legendary jazz composer Armando Anthony "Chick" Corea - also known for his work as a keyboardist and band leader - passed away at the age of 79 following a battle with cancer. Guitar legend Steve Vai posted the following tribute to Corea.

Vai: "I was very fortunate to have had an opportunity to work with the great Chick Corea. It was on the song 'Rumble' for a record called The Songs of West Side Story. This is a brilliant piece of music that was arranged by the phenomenal David Pack in which he created this rumble battle feel between 'Chick Corea’s Electrik Band vs. Steve Vai’s Monsters.' It was recorded live at Ocean Way Studios and I recall that between both bands we had perhaps 15 so musicians in the studio. It remains one of the highlight studio experiences for me.

One of the things that I can remember so vividly was the intro. The intro was meant to start with about a minute of Chick playing an improvised solo on piano, and then we would all come in. After Chick did the intro, we were stunned into silence. I could hardly start the song being so absolutely blown away by the immense genius of this man's performance. We did perhaps three takes of the entire song and each time Chick took to the piano to do his intro, something completely different but completely blow-away came out of him. It was remarkable.

But perhaps the most fun came when Chick came up to my Mothership Studio with his electric piano that was slung over his body like a guitar, and we really dueled. So much fun.

Here is a link to the recorded version. You can hear Chick's Elektrik band panned somewhat left, and my 'Monsters' panned right. It really is quite cool and has such an intense energy to it. Absolutely brilliant arrangement by David Pack and it was so so so so fantastic to be in that room with all those musicians and have that opportunity. It’s all one take and we were reading the music, but it retains that high energy live feel.

Chick was brilliant beyond beyond. He brought us the first real taste of rich fusion music with the historic Return To Forever. I was 15 years old when I saw this band at Hofstra Playhouse and it had a tremendous impact on me. This is where I first heard one of my most powerful sources of inspiration, the great Al Di Meola. I highly recommend checking out the music of Return To Forever. It’s a gift to music lovers.

Rest In Peace Dear Chick, and thank you for all you gave us."

Chick Corea's compositions "Spain", "500 Miles High", "La Fiesta", "Armando's Rhumba" and "Windows" are widely considered jazz standards. As a member of Miles Davis's band in the late '60s, he participated in the birth of jazz fusion. In the '70s he formed Return To Forever. Along with Herbie Hancock, McCoy Tyner, Keith Jarrett and Bill Evans, he is considered one of the most influential jazz pianists of the post-John Coltrane era. Corea continued to collaborate frequently while exploring different musical styles throughout the '80s and '90s. He won 23 Grammy Awards and was nominated over 60 times.

Vancouver's 2 SHADOWS Reveal "Screamworks" Video

Vancouver's 2 SHADOWS Reveal "Screamworks" Video

Canadian hard rock / metal band 2 Shadows has released a new single and video, "Screamworks" via Rock Shop Records. The track was produced by The Veer Union frontman, Crispin Earl.

"'Screamworks' is a song about people who make you want to scream," says 2 Shadows vocalist Glen Bridden. "People who would rather manipulate you to serve their own end even when you have a common goal in mind. The song is an expression of the frustration found in dealing with someone who has their head shoved so far up their own… you know. In a lot of ways its hugely cathartic for us and allows us to finally talk about past experiences bottled up for far too long."

2 Shadows is a four piece metal band based out of Vancouver, BC, consisting of vocalist Glen Bridden, guitarists Tryst Germaine and James Holder, along with drummer Mitch Harsch. The group was founded in 2015 and for the last five years have meticulously and methodically honing in their craft, leaving no stone unturned. Inspired by Slipknot and Rammstein, as well as Motionless In White and Asking Alexandria, 2 Shadows is a combination of the most modern sounding metalcore blended with visually theatrical imagery, creating a duality that is the core of the band. According to vocalist, Glen Bridden, "Our live show is just as important to us as music. We try to make our live show a visual representation of our music. We are constantly building and evolving our stage show so our fans can always expect something different and exciting!"

2 Shadows will be releasing a new EP via Rock Shop Records in the summer of 2021 and will be out on the road, in its support, both nationally and internationally. Dates and venue info tba.

ILLUSORY Unveil "Besetting Sins" Lyric Video

ILLUSORY Unveil "Besetting Sins" Lyric Video

Set to release their third full length, Crimson Wreath, this coming May via Rockshots Records, Greek prog power band Illusory are sharing the record's first single "Besetting Sins".

"This is the opening track of the album and also our first single off the Crimson Wreath album. A very heavy song with fast guitar gallops, an Eastern flavor, a melodic chorus and a progressive twin guitar melody in the middle of the song. It speaks about religion, the Seven Deadly Sins and especially about an ancient Greek emotion called Acedia," adds the band.

Having opened for Blue Oyster Cult, Warrel Dane, Geoff Tate, and Gus G, Illusory's new album Crimson Wreath is the next step in their evolution, following 2016's Polysllabic (7hard/7us) and 2013's The Ivory Tower (The Leaders Records).

Melodic, riffy, cerebral, and complex, Crimson Wreath is a very emotional and melodic release, yet heavy and strong at the same time. Both new fans and ones who have been listening to the band for years will indulge themselves in this latest offering of classic, progressive, epic, and thrashy performances. Lyrical themes found on Crimson Wreath are mostly anti-war, but the full length also includes a thematic unit consisting of three songs that deal with human loss.

Pre-orders can be placed now at this location. An album trailer is available to view below.

Illusory comments: "The band is thrilled! When we look back, from the first minute to the last one, from the moment we pressed 'record' on the very first drum tracking, to the latest addition and album wrap-up, we can’t stop thinking about all the things we set and done during those recordings and the long hours of arranging every little album detail. Crimson Wreath has become a member of our discography and our most recent brainchild. And we are totally proud of it!"

WOLF KING Release Video For "Holy Serpent"

WOLF KING Release Video For "Holy Serpent"

Wolf King has issued "Holy Serpent", the third single taken from their upcoming album, The Path Of Wrath, scheduled for release on March 5 via Prosthetic Records.

Marking their return late last year, the Bay Area four-piece's blend of blackened metal and punk attitude is as potent as ever on their latest single. Accompanying the single is a live in-studio performance video, shot at Rapture Studio in Hayward, CA, where the band spent time recording The Path Of Wrath with Cody Fuentes.

Of the new single, the band comments, “'Holy Serpent' is about the manipulation and greed of religion. How they have caused wars and feed lies to the weak minded for their own profit.”

On the live in-studio video, the band adds, "We did the video at Rapture Recordings to capture the live sound and energy that this track deserves. This song is easily one of our most anticipated from the album, and we can’t wait to play live. It’s groovy, packed with riffs, and is energetic from start to finish."

Recorded at both Prairie Sun Recordings and Rapture Recordings in California by Cody Fuentes, with mixing and mastering handled by Jack Shirley at The Atomic Garden, Wolf Kings's blackened metal sound is captured at it's most captivatingly unrestrained on The Path Of Wrath. For an uncompromising, filth-drenched, smoke-infused take on the genre, The Path Of Wrath delivers the goods and then some. Pre-orders can be placed now at this location.

Tracklisting:

"Messenger Of Death"
"Wandering Soul"

"Sanctuary"
"The Oath"
"The Path Of Wrath"
"Incantation"
"Grief Portrait"

FROZEN CROWN To Release New Album In April; Details And Audio Teaser Available

FROZEN CROWN To Release New Album In April; Details And Audio Teaser Available

Italian metallers Frozen Crown, who recently underwent a major personnel shuffle, have checked in with an update on their new album:

"Winterbane is the third Frozen Crown album, and by far the most obscure of our works.

The third chapter consolidates the classic Frozen Crown trademark sound and brings it to the next level, giving priority to a straightforward and in-your-face approach based on powerful and dynamic drums and thundering bass lines. Guitar work plays a key role again, this time richer and more intricate than ever, drawing catchy melodies along lead singer Giada Etro's vocals.

The heaviest of our albums, with strong classic metal vibes adding to the usual power / melodeath combination, Winterbane represents a proper group effort thanks to the flawless new three (yet to be revealed) members intake.

For what concerns production duties, we teamed up once again with Andrea Fusini, who delivered the best and most powerful production ever in Frozen Crown history. The album features a special guest appearance by talented singer Federica Lanna (Volturian) and a cover of a classic Judas Priest song from the Painkiller album.

The artwork, once again by songwriter Federico Mondelli, depicts the bloody, war permeated Frozen Crown world – and, figuratively, the band facing its former incarnation, gaining strength from the past and becoming a new and more powerful version of itself.

Winterbane brings out the darker, heavier and louder nature of Frozen Crown, more powerful and raw than ever."

Tracklist:

"Embrace The Night"
"Towards The Sun"
"Far Beyond"
"The Lone Stranger"
"Crown Eternal"
"The Water Dancer"
"Angels In Disguise" (feat Federica Lanna)
"Night Crawler" (Judas Priest cover)
"Tales Of The Forest"
"Blood On The Snow"

Winterbane will be released on April 23 on Scarlet Records and Marquee/Avalon (Japan).

DAVID ELLEFSON Believes MEGADETH-Branded 'Megacruise' Will Return

DAVID ELLEFSON Believes MEGADETH-Branded 'Megacruise' Will Return

In a new interview with the "Fantasm" podcast, David Ellefson said that he believes there will be another installment of the MEGADETH-branded Megacruise. "All the cruises, of course, have now been pushed back to next year," he said (hear audio below). "But, yeah, it was successful, and the fans loved it — they just had the time of their life; they thought it was just such a great experience. So, yeah, I would say there's one in the future here."

The inaugural Megacruise departed from Los Angeles on October 13, 2019 on a round-trip voyage to San Diego and Ensenada, Mexico and returned on October 18, 2019. The at-sea music experience featured performances from ANTHRAX, LAMB OF GOD, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, QUEENSRŸCHE, DEATH ANGEL, TESTAMENT, DRAGONFORCE, OVERKILL and CORROSION OF CONFORMITY, among others.

Official cruise hosts Eddie Trunk (VH1, SiriusXM, AXS), Jose Mangin (SiriusXM) and Lüc Carl (SiriusXM, Ozzy's Boneyard) moderated question-and-answer sessions and activities specially crafted for this voyage.

Megacruise offered fans a variety of events and activities that put cruisers up front and center with metal icons from fan and artist photo experiences to intimate morning coffee jams, music clinics to fan and artist sporting competitions and more ways to interact with the lineup.

Promoter Larry Morand — whose company On The Blue also produces the annual Monsters Of Rock, Cruise To The Edge and On The Blue music cruises — told Classic Rock the idea for the Megacruise originated several years ago during a phone call with the band's booking agent. "[He] said, 'Hey, I just picked up MEGADETH. They were going to do this other cruise [2014's Motörboat] and it didn't happen, but they'd really like to do one,'" Morand said. "I said, 'Would they like to host one?'... At that point, [we had] a bunch of different calls and meetings. It really flourished, and we started to build a marquee around it."

From there, Morand says he curated a list of potential performers for Dave Mustaine's approval. "Dave picked through it," Morand explained. "He wanted to be really hands-on... I thought it would be great to have something that shows the legacy of who they are. He totally agreed, so as we went through it, it was painstaking. It's funny what was curated and what [took] a bit of work."

MADAME MAYHEM Releases New Single “Cruel Heart”

MADAME MAYHEM Releases New Single “Cruel Heart”

Madame Mayhem has released her new single "Cruel Heart" to all digital platforms. The single was co-written by Madame Mayhem and Keith Wallen (of Breaking Benjamin).

"This was one of the first songs Keith Wallen and I wrote together. I always have such a great experience co-writing with Keith. I remember listening to this demo on my way home after we finished writing and just getting so excited to share it. I have been patiently waiting for the right moment to release this single and I think now is as good a time as any! This song is near and dear to my heart and I am excited for the world to hear it!" says Madame Mayhem.

She adds, "I performed this song live on tour a few times prior to recording it, which only makes this release even more special because of the excitement the crowds had for "Cruel Heart" hearing it for the first time as an unknown song. I remember having conversations with fans after the shows about how much they connected with it, which means so much to me! I hope the song continues to connect with people through this release."

This song was produced and arranged by Johnny K (Disturbed, Megadeth, Sevendust, Finger Eleven), who also played bass on the track. Lead vocals and backing vocals were performed by Madame Mayhem, Keith Wallen performed guitars and backing vocals and Jason "JBomb" Harrison was on drums.
