This past January, SODOM recruited Toni Merkel as its new drummer. He joined the band as the replacement for Stefan "Husky" Hüskens, who announced his departure from SODOM less than two weeks earlier.

In a statement explaining his exit from SODOM, Hüskens said that "some changes" at his full-time job, "as well as a few other matters," were to blame for his decision to leave.

Last November, SODOM released a new EP, "Out Of The Frontline Trench", via SPV/Steamhammer. The effort contained three brand new tracks as well as new recordings (studio and live) of two SODOM classics.

Joining frontman Thomas "Angelripper" Such on the EP were guitarists Frank "Blackfire" Gosdzik (also formerly of KREATOR, ASSASSIN) and Yorck Segatz (BEYONDITION) plus Hüskens.

Blackfire previously played with SODOM on the seminal albums "Persecution Mania", "Mortal Way Of Live" and "Agent Orange".

Former SODOM guitarist Bernd "Bernemann" Kost and drummer Markus "Makka" Freiwald released a joint statement in January 2018 claiming that they were fired from the band by Tom via messaging platform WhatsApp even before Tom had a chance to hear any of the material the duo had been working on for the group's next album.

PUSCIFER Announces 'Existential Reckoning' Album; 'The Underwhelming' Single Now Available

PUSCIFER Announces 'Existential Reckoning' Album; 'The Underwhelming' Single Now Available

PUSCIFER, the Arizona-born band led by TOOL frontman Maynard James Keenan, will release its fourth studio album, "Existential Reckoning", on October 30 via Alchemy Recordings, a partnership with BMG. Alchemy Recordings is a new record label created in partnership between Dino Paredes, former American Recordings vice president of A&R, and Danny Wimmer, the founder of Danny Wimmer Presents, the premier production company for rock music festivals in the United States. The disc's second single, "The Underwhelming", can be streamed below. It follows the LP's previous single, "Apocalyptical", which arrived in May.

PUSCIFER's current lineup is rounded out by singer-keyboardist Carina Round and multi-instrumentalist Mat Mitchell. Also appearing on the effort are Greg Edwards (FAILURE), and drummers Gunnar Olsen and Sarah Jones.

"Existential Reckoning" was produced by Mitchell and PUSCIFER. The album was recorded and mixed by Mitchell at Puscifer Studios in North Hollywood, California.

"Existential Reckoning" track listing:

01. Bread And Circus

02. Apocalyptical

03. The Underwhelming

04. Grey Area 5.1

05. Theorem

06. Upgrade

07. Bullet Train To Iowa

08. Personal Prometheus

09. A Singularity

10. Postulous

11. Fake Affront

12. Bedlamite

Born somewhere in the Arizona desert, PUSCIFER is an electro-rock band, multimedia experience, traveling circus, and alien abduction survivors. The group's catalog consists of three full-length studio albums — "'V' is for Vagina" (2007), "Conditions Of My Parole" (2011) and "Money Shot" (2015) — in addition to a series of EPs and remixes. Beyond the core trio of Keenan, Mitchell and Round, the group's ever-evolving ecosystem encompasses a cast of characters such as Billy D and his wife Hildy Berger, Major Douche, Special Agent Dick Merkin, and many more. Meanwhile, the moniker's origins can be traced to a 1995 episode of the HBO classic "Mr. Show" where Keenan first utilized the name "Puscifer." Entertainment Weekly christened them "exceptionally groovy" and Revolver fittingly described them as "indescribable." Renowned for an immersive live show, the group's performances blur the lines between concert and theater, traversing the dusty American Southwest with Billy D and Hildy or the sweaty squared circle with Luchadores. They've brought this to life everywhere from Coachella to Bonnaroo. On their 2020 debut for Alchemy Recordings/BMG, PUSCIFER track Billy D back to the desert and, just maybe, uncover the truth about aliens once and for all.

DEFTONES Release Music Video For New Single 'Genesis'

DEFTONES Release Music Video For New Single 'Genesis'

DEFTONES have released the official Sebastian Kökow-directed music video for their new song "Genesis". The track is the second single from the band's upcoming ninth album, "Ohms", which will arrive on September 25 via Warner.

Speculation of the forthcoming album among fans swept across the media landscape, stoking curiosity as the band's web site and social platforms went dark. The intrigue continued to rise when they revealed the striking album art on their site with no additional information. Designed by longtime collaborator Frank Maddocks (who also designed the iconic "White Pony" LP cover), the captivating album image of two eyes made up of thousands of white pixels cryptically appeared on a billboard in the cultural hot-spot of Los Angeles on Fairfax Avenue above the landmark restaurant Canter's Deli with the caption "This Is Our Time...We Devour The Days Ahead."

Recorded at Henson Studios in Los Angeles, California and Trainwreck Studios in Woodinville, Washington, "Ohms" is an otherworldly body of work meticulously crafted by the five-piece band. It is a magnificent tour de force and their first album in four years since the critically acclaimed "Gore" LP in 2016. The band, which includes Chino Moreno, Frank Delgado, Stephen Carpenter, Abe Cunningham and Sergio Vega, has produced a dense LP with every member firing on all cylinders. The album also boasts a familiar collaborator in veteran producer and engineer Terry Date, who worked on 1995's "Adrenaline", 1997's "Around The Fur" and 2000's "White Pony". All of the above assembles and sets the stage to deliver "Ohms"; 10 tracks of raw escapism and unparalleled grooves that have made DEFTONES' sound singular for over two decades.

"Ohms" track listing:

01. Genesis

02. Ceremony

03. Urantia

04. Errorr

05. The Spell Of Mathematics

06. Pompeji

07. This Link Is Dead

08. Radiant City

09. Headless

10. Ohms

DEFTONES singer Chino Moreno told Kerrang! magazine that "Ohms" was a more collaborative effort than "Gore", which saw guitarist Stephen Carpenter largely excluded from the production process.

"When you've made a lot of records with the same people, everybody has to be engaged," Moreno said. "We've learned the hard way. A perfect example would be 'Gore', when Stef basically admitted, like, 'I didn't have much to do with this record.' And that was not because we didn't want him — my favorite ideas of DEFTONES songs are ones that he spearheads."

He added: "When the record came out, I think people felt that Stef wasn't as big a part of it and that it may have suffered in certain areas because of that, so one of the most important things [with the new album] is that everybody is engaged and everybody is excited."

DEFTONES is Moreno, Carpenter, drummer Abe Cunningham, programmer Frank Delgado and bassist Sergio Vega.

This past May, DEFTONES postponed their 2020 North American tour due to the coronavirus pandemic sweeping the globe. The Live Nation-produced 20-date trek with GOJIRA and POPPY was scheduled to kick off on July 27 and conclude on September 5.

"Gore" bowed at No. 2 on the Billboard Top 200 in 2016, moving over 71,000 units first week and marking DEFTONES' highest chart position in 13 years.

KREATOR/Ex-DRAGONFORCE Bassist FRÉDÉRIC LECLERCQ Launches AMAHIRU Project

KREATOR/Ex-DRAGONFORCE Bassist FRÉDÉRIC LECLERCQ Launches AMAHIRU Project

AMAHIRU, the musical collaboration between Frédéric Leclercq (KREATOR, ex-DRAGONFORCE) and Saki (MARY'S BLOOD, NEMOPHILA), will release its self-titled debut album on November 27 via earMUSIC in Europe and the U.S. and and Ward Records in Japan.

Frédéric and Saki's friendship started in 2015 when MARY'S BLOOD opened for DRAGONFORCE in Hong Kong. They got along very quickly and it didn't take long until they came up with the idea to collaborate on a musical project. Many ideas exchanged between them for the following few years, and finally, the time has come to release their self-titled album.

Some prominent musicians in the metal scene gathered to make this project a real band. Coen Jansen from EPICA, who helped with some keyboard works for the new DRAGONFORCE album, played keyboards on the disc. Then comes Mike Heller, who has been known as a super drummer of FEAR FACTORY and RAVEN. As AMAHIRU's vocalist, Archie Wilson was invited to join the group. This vocalist from the U.K. may be less known than other musicians involved in this band, but obviously he became the key to AMAHIRU's music. Frédéric says: "He has a powerful voice, great sense of rhythm and he is versatile, 'cause he can hit those high notes, sing in a mid register and also be both melodic and aggressive; the perfect match for AMAHIRU." Elize Ryd from AMARANTHE will also participate as a guest vocalist.

AMAHIRU's debut also includes a guest appearance by Sean Reinert from the American progressive rock band CYNIC, who, unfortunately, passed away in January. Moreover, some tracks include a shakuhachi performance played by Kifu Mitsuhashi, known for being awarded the Shiju hosho (the Medal of Honor with Purple Ribbon) and the Order of the Rising Sun. This is what we call a combination of occident and orient.

"Amahiru" was mixed by Jens Bogren, who has previously worked with DRAGONFORCE, KREATOR and SEPULTURA, among others. Mastering was done by Tony Lindgren, Jens's right-hand person. Cover artwork was created by Travis Smith, known for his collaborations with OPETH and KING DIAMOND.

The Japan edition will have a bonus DVD which includes two music videos, filmed in Japan.

"Amahiru" may sound like a Japanese word, but actually it is not. Oddly enough, it was coined by Frédéric himself, not by Saki. In fact, the word was born in his dream.

"We were trying to find a name and I had a dream in which someone was asking me to sign a contract for this band, AMAHIRU, and the number 13 kept appearing in the contract," Frédéric recalls. "When I woke up, I actually remembered the dream vividly and started to do my little 'thinking process.' I made the name AMAHIRU, so that it would be easier to pronounce for the Japanese people. But I wonder, does it mean anything? I type the name on the Internet, nothing. Then I tried Hamahiru just for different spelling sake, and here is the freaky thing, Hamahiru means 13 in Basquian. And I don't speak Basquian at all!"

AMAHIRU's first single, "Hours", will be released digitally on Friday, September 25, and will be accompanied by a music video.

Regarding AMAHIRU's musical direction, Leclercq says: "I'm influenced by many artists, pretty much anything I hear I can consider an influence and music should be the reflection of that. With AMAHIRU, I personally wanted to do something groovy and melodic and still metal/hard rock. We didn't want to make 12 songs sounding the same. Saki and I have a lot in common musically and it was really easy to work together in the same direction."

"Amahiru" track listing:

01. Innocent

02. WTTP

03. Hours

04. Way Out

05. Ninja No Tamashii

06. Vanguard

07. Bringing Me Down

08. Lucky Star (feat. Elize Ryd)

09. Waves

10. Samurai

11. Bringing Me Down (alternative version) (feat. Sean Reinert)

12. Zombi (bonus track)

13. Shine (Japanese bonus track)

Lineup:

Saki - Lead Guitar

WHITESNAKE To Release 'Love Songs' Collection In November

WHITESNAKE To Release 'Love Songs' Collection In November

WHITESNAKE brings together some of the most-passionate music of its multi-platinum career on "Love Songs", a new collection that contains remixed and remastered versions of the group's best love songs. It's the second release in the band's "Red, White and Blues Trilogy", a series of compilations organized by musical themes that began this summer with "The Rock Album" (white) and will conclude next year with "The Blues Album" (blue).

The new collection includes a mix of hits and deep tracks that were originally released between 1987 and 2011 on five WHITESNAKE studio albums and David Coverdale's third solo album, "Into The Light". Available for pre-order now, "Love Songs" will be released on November 6 as a CD , as a double-LP set pressed on 180-gram red vinyl, and digitally. The album will also be available via Rhino.com.

Like "The Rock Album", Coverdale says all the tracks on "Love Songs" have been revisited, remixed and remastered. "Some have been musically embellished where my co-producer Michael McIntyre, my new mixer Christopher Collier and I felt it appropriate or necessary to bring out the best in these songs," he explains.

Coverdale continues: "As most of you know, pretty much all the songs I write are love songs in some way, shape or form. These are some of my favorites. Not all are ballads. Some are out and out rockers with powerful romantic themes…and of course…include heavy breathing in all of them!!"

A fresh, new remix of one of WHITESNAKE's biggest hits, "Is This Love" (2020 Remix) from the band's multi-platinum self-titled album, is available today. Released in October 1987 as the follow-up to the No. 1 smash "Here I Go Again", "Is This Love" would peak at No. 2 on the U.S. singles chart, making it the second-biggest hit of the band's career. The group's next album, the platinum-certified "Slip Of The Tongue" (1989), is represented here by the hit singles "The Deeper The Love" and "Now You're Gone".

In addition to the album tracks "Don't You Cry" and "Midnight Blue", the set also introduces three previously unreleased outtakes from the "Into The Light" album sessions: "With All Of My Heart", "Yours For The Asking" and "Let's Talk It Over". Watch BLACK STONE CHERRY's Lyric Video For New Song 'Ringin' In My Head'

Watch BLACK STONE CHERRY's Lyric Video For New Song 'Ringin' In My Head'

Kentucky rockers BLACK STONE CHERRY have released the official lyric video for their new song "Ringin' In My Head". The track is taken from the band's upcoming seventh studio album, "The Human Condition", which is due on October 30 via Mascot Label Group. The collection will be available in digital, deluxe CD and vinyl formats, with an array of music and merch bundle options and a U.K.-exclusive purple vinyl, which you can pre-order now at this location.

BLACK STONE CHERRY states: "'Ringin' In My Head' was a song we had originally started to write back in 2017, and for whatever reason, it didn't make the album at the time, but we loved the riff and melody. Fast forward to 2020, we were in the studio recording 'The Human Condition' and we decided to revisit the song and rework it a bit. It's eerie that it fits into the current state of the world so well right now. It's almost like the song knew when it should have been recorded and released, and we find beauty in that."

"The Human Condition" was produced by the bandmembers themselves and tracked in BSC bassist Jon Lawhon's recording facility, Monocle Studios. The release was completed mere days before the COVID-19 lockdown was imposed and as events progressed, it became apparent that the album the band was completing featured lyrics that were eerily prescient.

"There was a real urgency and fear of the unknown during those sessions — it was a scary time," recalls drummer, John Fred Young. "Every song on this album tells a story of the experiences we all go through — our happiness, our struggles, and how we have to adapt."

Guitarist Ben Wells says: "With this one, we cranked up the amps, the drums are in your face, and there are some really heavy riffs. After 19 years and seven albums, we wanted to prove that we still kick ass. This album feels like a rebirth."

Adds Lawhon: "When I listen back to this record, I feel all these different emotions. We started when we were teens, and life has taken its course, especially now. Through it all, your heart and your perspectives change, but one thing that hasn't changed is our connection as friends."

BLACK STONE CHERRY vocalist/guitarist Chris Robertson discussed the band's new disc during an episode of "Cherry Chat", also featuring SHINEDOWN. Speaking about the making of the new LP, Chris said: "We were literally finishing [the] record right when all the stay-at-home stuff came down [due to the coronavirus pandemic]. We were scheduled to go back in on a Monday, 'cause we were taking weekends off. We worked through the weekend and finished everything up, because come Monday, you couldn't do shit anymore, man. We got really lucky that it came down that close. But now we're sitting here with a record, finishing to get it mixed, and you can't go tour, you can't do shit."

He continued: "Our monitor engineer, Jordan [Westfall], came down and engineered the whole record, and we decided to have him mix the thing, man. He took the record home with him to his studio to mix and fucking killed it, man."

Robertson also talked about the inspiration for BLACK STONE CHERRY's new album, saying: "The last record we did, 'Family Tree', it was way more 'jam band'-y and kind of classic rock-oriented, to where the new record is nothing like that. The new record, it's funny — when Jordan was mixing it, we were, like, 'Hey, man, when you reference it, make sure you reference your all's last record" — referring to SHINEDOWN's "Attention Attention" — "and a bunch of other records, man, because the last couple of records we've done haven't been necessarily in the same kind of genre, per se, as what you guys do. We haven't been in that heavy rock category on the last couple of releases we've done; we've done more of a blues-oriented thing. And it's been a lot of fun, man. But with the new record, we decided to kick the shit back up a notch again. And it's awesome, man. We're excited for people to hear it."

"The Human Condition" track listing:

01. Ringin' In My Head

02. Again

03. Push Down & Turn

04. When Angels Learn To Fly

05. Live This Way

06. In Love With The Pain

07. The Chain

08. Ride

09. If My Heart Had Wings

10. Don't Bring Me Down

11. Some Stories

12. Devil In Your Eyes

13. Keep On Keepin' On

In July, BLACK STONE CHERRY had to postpone its massive 16-date U.K. tour, which was set to begin in September. The shows have been rescheduled for September 2021 and culminate with a date at London's legendary Royal Albert Hall. Tickets for all original shows remain valid for the new dates.

BLACK SABBATH Bassist GEEZER BUTLER To Reissue Three Solo Albums In October

BLACK SABBATH Bassist GEEZER BUTLER To Reissue Three Solo Albums In October

The nineties were a testing time for many of rock's iconic leaders of the seventies. The nostalgia era that is now an industry of its own had yet to really come to prominence and many of the musicians who were there at rock's dawn were left floundering as the new decade rolled around and an innovative and fresh wave of "alternative" rock dominated the music world.

None of this fazed BLACK SABBATH bassist Geezer Butler, however, who, as chief master of the heavy metal originators heavyweight bottom end and the lyrics that gave voice to the monolithic riffs that the band made their trademark, didn't rest on his laurels and created three solo albums of forward-thinking new music throughout those years.

1995 saw the release of his first solo album, "Plastic Planet", followed in 1997 by "Black Science", with "Ohmwork" completing the trilogy in 2005. All three albums are now being made available for the first time ever on vinyl, with both CD and LP using newly updated cover artwork and all will be available via BMG on October 30.

"Plastic Planet" was originally released under the name G/Z/R and featured Burton C. Bell of Californian industrial/groove metal pioneers FEAR FACTORY on vocals and is considered a classic of '90s metal. The album perfectly melded Geezer's roots in doomy blues rock to the industrial influenced metal sound that was a key element in pushing the genre forward in the nineties.

Alongside Bell for this recording was a long-time collaborator of Geezer's, Peter Howse (nicknamed "Pedro" by Butler, from a character in the TV show "Four Feather Falls"). Howse was a founding member of the GEEZER BUTLER BAND in 1985, and has written and played in all versions of GZR/GEEZER. Drums were handled by Deen Castronovo, providing the pounding rhythms that propel the heavy grooves and mechanical metallic edge on "Plastic Planet". Lyrically, Butler channelled technological, sci-fi and dystopian subjects mixed with the social issues tackled on "Drive Boy, Shooting" and "The Invisible", themes that perfectly matched the then futuristic sounds within.

Returning in 1997 with "Black Science" and originally released this time under the name GEEZER, this album saw Butler once again working with drummer Deen Castronovo and guitarist Pedro Howse, and like "Plastic Planet", was produced by Butler and Paul Northfield (RUSH, ALICE COOPER, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, DREAM THEATER). Bell was unable to provide vocals this time due to commitments with FEAR FACTORY, but his industrial boots were more than adequality filled by the then completely unknown Clark Brown who stepped up to the plate and delivered an impressively powerful vocal performance over the album's high-energy and heavy power grooves.

It wouldn't be until 2005 that Geezer would get the chance to continue his solo explorations, having returned to SABBATH for the 1997 edition of Ozzfest, remaining in the band ever since, but in 2005 he released "Ohmwork", this time under the name GZR. Once again, the recording was undertaken with Clark Brown on vocals and Pedro Howse on guitar, the difference this time being that drum duties were handled by Chad E. Smith (the veteran St. Louis drummer, not the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS percussionist of the same name).

With "Ohmwork", gone were the industrial metal influences of the previous decade, but Butler still steadfastly refused to hark back to the past and kept everything contemporary, drawing on influences, as a keen follower of music, on everything that was happening in rock at the time. From the pedal to the metal of "Aural Sects" to the epic, neo-psychedelia of "I Believe", "Ohmwork" was a fitting finale to Geezer's solo album trilogy.

DEF LEPPARD's 'Hysteria At The O2' And 'Hits Vegas' To Be Made Available On Limited-Edition Audio Formats

DEF LEPPARD's 'Hysteria At The O2' And 'Hits Vegas' To Be Made Available On Limited-Edition Audio Formats

On October 16, Eagle Rock Entertainment will releasing standalone audio versions of "Hysteria At The O2" and "Hits Vegas: Live At Planet Hollywood" from British Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductees DEF LEPPARD. Initially paired in an audiovisual boxed set this past May ("London To Vegas"), these will be available as limited edition 2CDs. Additionally, "Hits Vegas" will also be released as a limited edition transparent blue vinyl LP on December 11.

"Hysteria At The O2" was recorded in December 2018 at DEF LEPPARD's long-awaited debut at the famed O2 Arena in London. For this historic homecoming event, the band performed their groundbreaking diamond-certified 10-times-platinum album "Hysteria" in its entirety. Joe Elliott (vocals), Phil Collen (guitar), Rick Savage (bass), Rick Allen (drums) and Vivian Campbell (guitar) set the crowd alight with fan favorites "Pour Some Sugar On Me", "Rocket", "Love Bites" and "Animal", as well as additional hits like "Photograph" and "Let's Get Rocked".

"Hits Vegas: Live At Planet Hollywood" took place six months later, just after DEF LEPPARD was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Captured during their residency at Planet Hollywood's Zappos Theatre, this 28-song set showcases the band delivering high octane performances of their greatest hits and rarities. Highlighting the breadth of their stage prowess, "Hits Vegas" features the band not only on a two-stage set with huge video displays, but transporting the audience with intimate, acoustic versions of rare tracks, such as "Let Me Be The One" and "We Belong".

In a recently uploaded video from SiriusXM's Hair Nation, Allen was asked to name the "most crucial event in the success" of DEF LEPPARD. He responded: "That's a really good question. I think the thing that really makes us somewhat unique in terms of our relationship is not really the success, but I think some of the things that weren't so pleasant, like losing [guitarist] Steve [Clark, who died in 1991 from alcohol poisoning] or when I went through my accident," referring to the December 1984 car crash that caused him to lose an arm. "And it was one of those times when you're sitting around in a room with each other and you look at one another and you're, like, 'Why are we doing this again?' And everybody seemed to come up with, 'We're friends.' And that's why we wanna do this. But I think they were the times that really showed the character of the band and the individuals and just really finding out who your friends are, especially when things are really dark. So I think that's one of the things. And then the other thing is the fact that we're constantly writing new music. People say, 'Oh, you're making another record.' No — there's always new music; people are always coming up with new ideas, and I think that keeps it vibrant and it keeps it fresh. So I think that's a very important thing in terms of just keeping the band in sort of a forward momentum."

DEF LEPPARD was scheduled to hit the road this summer as part of "The Stadium Tour" with MÖTLEY CRÜE, POISON and JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS but the trek was postponed until 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic which is sweeping the globe.

DRY KILL LOGIC Return With New Single "Don't See Ghosts"

DRY KILL LOGIC Return With New Single "Don't See Ghosts"

New York metal outfit Dry Kill Logic have returned with the hard-hitting new single "Don't See Ghosts". The track stays true to the band’s masterful blend of nu-metal and metallic hardcore that has captivated fans over their 25-year career. "Don’t See Ghosts" flows through Cliff Rigano’s deep, soaring vocals cut between heavy breakdowns and top-shelf guitar shredding. Lyrically, the track is meant to conjure interpretations from each individual listener, creating a more personal attachment to the song. You can listen to "Don't See Ghosts" below and find the track on Spotify and all streaming services starting today (September 18th).

Cliff Rigano: "We’ve always tried to write songs that come from a personal place, but frame them in a way that can be interpreted to mean something different and unique to each listener. 'Don’t See Ghosts' was recorded last year, right after we put out 'Vices', but we were unsure of when to release it. After looking at the lyrics recently, the song actually started to mean something different to us as well, and we realized that this was the right time to put it out."

The single was recorded at Intension Studios in Astoria, NY and Silver Bullet Studios in Burlington, CT. It was produced by the band’s guitarist, Jason Bozzi, and mixed by Greg Thomas (Misery Signals, Shai Hulud).

"Brendan (Kane Duff, bassist) brought Greg into the mix when it came time to record the new songs, and being fans of his other work, we were stoked that he wanted to get involved," Rigano stated.

"Don’t See Ghosts" serves as the follow up to Dry Kill Logic’s 2019 single "Vices", which marked the highly-anticipated return to the studio for the band after a prolonged absence of new music dating back to their 2006 full-length, Of Vengeance And Violence. The band will continue to release singles through their own label, Psychodrama Music Group, in partnership with eOne Music.

SEASON OF GHOSTS Release Official Video For "What A Time To Be Alive"

SEASON OF GHOSTS Release Official Video For "What A Time To Be Alive"

Season Of Ghosts have released an official video for "What A Time To Be Alive", taken from the band's second studio album, A Leap Of Faith, released in October 2018. The video was made with footage submitted by the fans.

"A Leap Of Faith came to life, as the result of our collective experiences since the creation of The Human Paradox and although one could say that four years is not such a long period of time, a lot has changed within and without, on every possible level," says Season Of Ghosts vocalist Sophia Aslanides.

"Every challenge, of course, is an opportunity in disguise, as well as a valuable lesson, so me and Sam attempted to put this into music and words. In A Leap Of Faith, as well as everything I've ever worked on, every word has a purpose, every note, every meaning has been carefully selected with intent. We do not believe in fast fashion, fast art, therefore we create slowly, hoping that our songs will mean something to someone in the years to come. This album bears significant emotional weight for us who created it, existential intensity, but also it's very pleasant to the ear, easy to listen, hopeful. We feel it conveys a straightforward, honest, loving message to those who'll let it be their life soundtrack for an hour or so."

"For the needs of A Leap Of Faith, we combined our musical influences, spanning from Japanese visual kei, to American rock, to European metal, inviting our friends from all over the world to contribute with their unique musical style, Fatal FE (ex-Fail Emotions) from Russia, who was in charge for most keyboards, Masaki (This is a Pen) from Japan, who played piano on 'You Are Not Your Pain' and of course Mr Fusix who worked his magic on the mix and master. My good friend Intetsu from Japanese Visual Kei band, Ayabie, handled all photography and videos, the ethical, ethnopunk UK brand, Psylo, took care of our costumes and Sam along with Paul were in charge of art direction. Looking back, it's so surprising that sometimes darkness can create something so harmonious, beautiful and full of light."

"A Leap Of Faith is not a concept album like the previous one, but undoubtedly it has a concept if one connects the dots. It emerged during a prolonged period of mental, emotional and physical drought, so it bears a certain level of rawness in its sound, its artistic concept, the photography, the aesthetics, which comes in contradiction to the more lavish atmosphere of The Human Paradox. I am in no way denouncing my beliefs or my style, I just happen to like lots of different things and everyone deserves variety, so this album has been tasked with the mission of conveying our message in a more laconic, no-frills - literally - straightforward way, It's a bittersweet memoir and a peculiar, daily life user manual for those who dare to listen closely. For me, A Leap Of Faith is the music of the spirit, soul- nurturing, it means to offer insight and love, but you, the listener, can take whatever you need from it.".

DÉLUGE Reveals Details For New Album Ægo Templo; Launches First Single "Opprobre"

DÉLUGE Reveals Details For New Album Ægo Templo; Launches First Single "Opprobre"

On November 6th, France's Déluge will release their sophomore album, Ægo Templo, via Metal Blade Records. For a first preview of the record, the new single, "Opprobre", can be heard here - where Ægo Templo can also be pre-ordered in the following formats:

- digipak-CD
- 180g black vinyl (EU exclusive)
- blue / white / black marbled vinyl (EU exclusive - limited to 300 copies)
- white vinyl (EU exclusive - limited to 200 copies)
- gold / black dust vinyl (Kings Road exclusive - limited to 100 copies)
- gold vinyl (US exclusive)

France has long been a fertile breeding ground for black metal, and one of its best kept secrets is Déluge, who have been kicking up a blend of that genre and post-hardcore since 2014. Dropping their debut full-length Æther in 2015, in 2020 they return with sophomore effort Ægo Templo, a more accessible record that pushes their sound in ever more imaginative directions. "I wanted to go further into something more 'easy to listen to', but I really did not want to lose what we had, that melancholia and the essence of our music," states founding guitarist François-Thibaut Hordé. "It was a very interesting - and exhausting - challenge, and to me we have succeeded. We are really proud of this new record."

Produced by François-Thibaut with assistance from engineers Thibault Chaumont/Deviant Lab studio (Igorrr, Carpenter Brut, Birds in Row) - who also mixed and mastered the album - and Amaury Sauvé / The Apiary studio who recorded the drums, Ægo Templo marks a bold step forward from their earlier recorded output. Featuring clean vocals on almost every track, keyboards and additional instruments on several songs, plus soprano saxophone on "Opprobre", this new offering separates Déluge from their contemporaries, all the while maintaining their identity.

The band also turned to Valnoir from Metastazis Studio in Paris to once again design their artwork, and they asked several artists to guest on the record: Tetsuya Fukagawa of Japanese Screamo legends Envy adds vocals to "Gloire Au Silence"; Matthieu Metzger provides saxophone on "Opprobre"; and Hélène Muesser contributes vocals on "Abysses", "Ægo Templo" and "Digue" - all helping to add further depths to the music.

Ægo Templo artwork and tracklisting:

"Soufre"
"Opprobre"
"Abysses"
"Fratres"
"Gloire Au Silence"
"Ægo Templo"
"Baïne"
"Digue"
"Béryl"
"Vers"

"Opprobre":

Even in these uncertain times, what comes next for Déluge is clear - their goals are undeniable: "We want to be touring as much as we can, spreading our bright music as much as we can, and going much further than the metal scene can offer us."

After Ægo Templo's release, Déluge will head out on the road with label-mates Igorrr for a tour of France and Switzerland in December. See below for all dates!

JOE BONAMASSA Plays His First Fender Guitars In New Video

JOE BONAMASSA Plays His First Fender Guitars In New Video

Joe Bonamassa checks in with a few of his first Fender instruments, including a 1955 Stratocaster named "Bonnie", with which he performs his song "Drive".

Bonamassa’s new solo studio album Royal Tea - inspired by his British heroes Jeff Beck, John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers, Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin and Cream - was recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios and will be released on October 23 via J&R Adventures. Bonamassa recently surprised fans with his latest single, “Why Does It Take So Long To Say Goodbye”. Pre-order the new album here.

Bonamassa is known for taking risks and venturing into uncharted territory throughout his wide-ranging career but now he has found a new way to surprise his fans and music lovers. Royal Tea brings Bonamassa full-circle. “This whole adventure,” admits Joe, “was a bucket-list thing for me.” This album reconnects the 43-year-old with the guitar-slinging kid from upstate New York, who stumbled across the best of British blues music in his dad’s vinyl collection - whose influences have shaped him to be the player he is today. “I would have been about twelve years old, and it was the sound I heard in my head. Like, ‘OK, I’m in. That’s what I want to be’.”

These ten original tracks were co-written by Joe and a cast of homegrown notables including former Whitesnake guitarist Bernie Marsden, ex-Cream lyricist Pete Brown and national-treasure piano man Jools Holland. “Writing this record in London has done its job,” reflects Bonamassa. “It really does sound inherently British. Bernie and I, we finish each other’s sentences. We’re cut from the same cloth.” Bonamassa’s long-standing producer Kevin Shirley and regular touring band flew in for the recording sessions, which included Anton Fig (drums), Michael Rhodes (bass) and Reese Wynans (keys).

Alongside the announcement of the Royal Tea album, Bonamassa revealed today that he will perform a special Livestream Concert from the legendary Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee on September 20. This concert will feature the songs from his new album before the official release. Joe has never performed a full, unreleased album for audiences like this before, giving fans from around the world the opportunity to come together for an unforgettable night of blues-rock music. Along with Royal Tea he’ll perform classic remixes from his 20th anniversary album A New Day Now. The evening will continue with a one hour “After Party” featuring several live performances from an array of some of the hottest rising stars in blues-rock music.

The live stream tickets and packages for “Joe Bonamassa Live in Concert Worldwide” presented by Keeping The Blues Alive are available for purchase here.

There are a variety of pricing levels available for fans worldwide to be a part of this special “audience.” Tickets to the livestream event starts at $20. Fans may also purchase a $35 All-Access Pass which includes access to the livestream event on September 20, the Royal Tea digital album available on October 23, and a 1-year all pass for Bonamassa’s on-demand service which includes 17+ concert releases from Joe Bonamassa, Black Country Communion, and Rock Candy Funk Party - available at any time on most devices.

As part of this unique concert event, fans also have the option to purchase a Commemorative VIP ticket giving them an experience they will never forget. VIP ticket holders will have their photo printed out and placed in a seat at the legendary Ryman Auditorium as part of Joe’s audience for that special night. VIPs will also get a picture of Joe with his “audience” which will be sent to them via email to keep. The VIP ticket holder’s name will also be included in the credits at the end of the live stream event, as well as being included in the upcoming DVD credits for this performance!

This one-of-a-kind concert is presented by Bonamassa’s non-profit, Keeping the Blues Alive Foundation (KTBA). Each ticket purchase will include a $1 donation to Joe’s Fueling Musicians Program, which to date has raised over $295,000 and has supported more than 163 musicians in need due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

While much of the applause Bonamassa receives should be credited to his sheer talent, some part of his success needs to be attributed to Joe and his business partner for having the foresight and ability to become some of music’s savviest entrepreneurs. Bonamassa now 43, and his partner Roy Weisman have together devised a 360-degree independent business model that has survived and thrived during one of the music industry’s most uncertain eras, particularly considering the challenges created by the current pandemic.

Bonamassa’s Royal Tea and A New Day Now follow his instrumental side project called The Sleep Eazys, who released their stunning debut album, Easy To Buy, Hard To Sell, earlier this year. The album, which the Associated Press touted as making “instrumental dreams,” was produced by Bonamassa and features some of his frequent collaborators, along with his all-star touring band. The Sleep Eazys project is Joe’s second time in the studio as a producer, after Reese Wynans’ long-awaited debut solo album Sweet Release.

In addition, Joe continues to crank out weekly programming for Sirius XM’s Bluesville channel for his radio show “Different Shades Of Blue.” More recently, he kicked off a new at-home weekly interview series “Live From Nerdville” on his Facebook and YouTube page, featuring episodes with Neal Schon of Journey, John Oates of Hall & Oates, Glenn Hughes, Paul Stanley of KISS, Warren Haynes, Keb’ Mo’, Walter Trout and esteemed singer-songwriter Dion. On June 5, Bonamassa released music icon Dion’s critically-acclaimed new album Blues With Friends on he and his Manager Roy Weisman’s new record label Keeping The Blues Alive Records and Dion’s first single “Blues Comin’ On” also features Bonamassa on slide guitar.

TEAR DROP Pay Tribute To RILEY GALE And WADE ALLISON With Cathartic Cover Of TYPE O NEGATIVE's "Love You To Death"; Audio

TEAR DROP Pay Tribute To RILEY GALE And WADE ALLISON With Cathartic Cover Of TYPE O NEGATIVE's "Love You To Death"; Audio

In the wake of the tragic deaths of fellow Texan musicians, vocalist Riley Gale (Power Trip) and guitarist Wade Allison (Iron Age), Tear Drop is paying homage to the hometown friends with a cathartic cover of Type O Negative's song, "Love You To Death". The track can be found on the band's upcoming EP, Did You Wanna Love Me To Death, that's out on September 25 via Static Era Records.

Vocalist Griffin Jarzombek provided the statement below about the loss of Riley and Wade and the impact they had on the band and community:

"I’ll just start by saying It’s hard to put into words what Riley Gale and Wade Allison have meant to me all of these years. Coming up in the Texas music scene is no easy task and your music has to hit hard in order for you to catch more than just a look or a listen. Authenticity is currency. You can’t fake the culture or you’ll get snuffed out real quick. “Hard” isn’t just a buzzword, it’s a way of life for this community Riley and Wade embodied this not only in their music, but in literally everything they touched.

"As Texans, we’ve always had a chip on our shoulder in the hardcore and metal domains. It’s not that we weren’t respected, we were always respected, but we were never flashy, never shiny, and always under the radar. All of that changed with Wade and Riley. When I think of places like California, New York, Washington, there’s always a set of bands and sounds that come to mind. The early 2000’s in Texas, in hindsight, was an explosion of a particular sound and culture that manifested out of what we built, what THEY built. I eat Wade’s riffs for breakfast. I hear Riley screaming in my head every day.  How else can you articulate that?

"The soundtrack of my youth (and my whole life for that matter), has been and will always be a drowning heavy blues riff, overly distorted and harmonized, with a violent scream drenched in reverb coming over the top.

"When they cried, we cried, when they bled, we bled. That’s facts. Rest in peace to two of the greatest."

Tear Drop is a newly formed hardcore/metal band featuring vocalist Griffin Jarzombek (ex-Bitter End), guitarist Patrick Flanigan and drummer Ely Castillo.

DRACONIAN Release Lyric Video For "Moon Over Sabaoth" Single

DRACONIAN Release Lyric Video For "Moon Over Sabaoth" Single

Draconian have released the fourth single, “Moon Over Sabaoth”, off their upcoming album, Under A Godless Veil, out October 30 via Napalm Records.

The seventh full-length of the Swedish five-piece and second one with talented Heike Langhans on vocal duties, appears exactly five years after Draconian’s latest album, Sovran, and guarantees a complete immersion into the band’s essence. Starting off with a soft guitar intro, Draconian's new single "Moon Over Sabaoth" soon breaks off into Anders Jacobsson’s ghastly growls paired with a stomping doomy rhythm. Complemented by Heike's angelic voice, the vocals will touch deep inside your soul and interweave with stunning melodies and bone-crushing riffs. An artful conceptualized lyric video underlines these atmospheric tunes of melancholic beauty.

Lead guitarist and main composer Johan Ericson comments: "'Moon Over Sabaoth' is a perspective song that crawls in towards its end destination.  Monotone doom riffing accompanied by some heavy drums. Together with Anders harsh, desperate vocals leading up to an almost anthemic chorus. We stand tall..."

Watch the lyric video for “Moon Over Sabaoth” below:

The upcoming full-length delivers a captivating mélange of dreary doom and contrasting vocals and is already the second offer featuring the stunning singer Heike Langhans: The mix of Heike’s angelic, female voice and Anders Jacobsson's thrilling death growls will drag the listener into a sorrowful cosmos. Already the first notes of the opener will draw you into the void of interweaving beauty, coalescing with paralyzing depression that leaves nothing but the desire of total immersion in the whole record. Under A Godless Veil carries the legacy of gothic doom metal à la My Dying Bride into a new decade of the genre.

Draconian states: "To us, Under A Godless Veil is by far the most diverse album we have created. Inspired by some of the music closest to Johan’s heart; everything from traditional Doom to scaled-down, Gothic rock-inspired pieces and more. Some will perhaps describe the songs as more refined and meditative. Some ambient elements have been added to the mix without overshadowing the traditional characteristics that are Draconian. Resonating with the compositions, Anders’s lyrical direction is ambiguous and a progression of the first two-three albums, yet more subtle while embracing the Gnostic philosophy more directly. One could say Under A Godless Veil is an act of contemplation; About living and dying and remembering who we are in a strange, abrasive world far from home.“

Under A Godless Veil will be available in the following formats:

NACHTBLUT Launch Official Video For "Meine Grausamkeit Kennt Keine Grenzen"

NACHTBLUT Launch Official Video For "Meine Grausamkeit Kennt Keine Grenzen"

Nachtblut, a flagship of German dark metal, show off with their gloomy new offering, Vanitas, out October 2 via Napalm Records, and unleash the third single, “Meine Grausamkeit Kennt Keine Grenzen” (engl. My Cruelty Knows No Bounds) to the world, along with a harmoniously conceived music video.

Ever since their debut release, Das erste Abendmahl (engl. The First Supper), in 2007, the four-piece has been shaping the dark metal scene with its unique sound. “Meine Grausamkeit Kennt Keine Grenzen" is yet another spine-tingling spawn of the band’s unmistakable work: Nachtblut’s third single quickly enfolds its harsh compelling sound of riff driven blast beats, right after the eerie intro. Completed by Askeroth’s pervasive voice, the song draws the listener deeper into their new album Vanitas.

Nachtblut on the new single: “Right into your face - our new single and video 'Meine Grausamkeit Kennt Keine Grenzen' (My Cruelty Knows No Bounds) is unleashed! The song is a hymn to everyone who's full of hate and wants to see the world burning down. 'Meine Grausamkeit Kennt Keine Grenzen' doesn’t take any prisoners, shows no mercy. Screams and growls, filthy riffs and blast beats will be the support for your anger!”

Watch the official video for “Meine Grausamkeit Kennt Keine Grenzen” below:

The new album Vanitas draws the listener into the band’s musical maelstrom in a classifying Nachtblut manner.

Songs like “Das Puppenhaus” (engl. the dollhouse) is reminiscent of scene giants such as Rammstein, with brutally honest lyrics and rhythmic guitars. “Die Toten vergessen nicht” (engl. the dead don’t forget) shines with an unmistakably dark and orchestral sound that will cause shivers to run down the listener’s spine, while the folk-influenced song “Leierkinder” (engl. children of the lyre) convinces with an addictive rhythms and moving lyrics that will carry the listener away to days of yore. With Vanitas, these dark metal giants create a symbolic work of art somewhere between transience and infinity.

SERUM 114 Release "Meine Band" Single And Lyric Video

Just in time for the upcoming release of their new album, Im Zeichen der Zeit (out  September 18 via Napalm Records), German rock group Serum 114 proves that their heart still beats for pure, dirty punk rock. Their fourth single, “Meine Band” (engl. my band), showcases Serum 114’s pure intention for brash lyrics and catchy riffs, underlined by Eche’s scratchy vocals. The accompanying lyric video opens a box of memories and features some shots of their explosive and captivating live shows, which can be experienced again at their release concert in Gelsenkirchen (Germany) today.

With a light-footed, tongue-in-cheek attitude, Serum 114 takes a closer look at the music business, underlines that they are not taking themselves too seriously, and demonstrates that they have not lost their sense of humor throughout their years.

Following their chart-topping full-length Die Nacht Mein Freund (engl. “the night is my friend”) (Germany #3), the new album includes 14 energetic tracks, careening towards a rock break-out. AYREON Releases Official Lyric Video For "Talk Of The Town"

AYREON Releases Official Lyric Video For "Talk Of The Town"

Ayreon will release a brand-new sprawling and epic studio album, Transitus, on September 25 via Music Theories Recordings. Below is the fourth and final lyric (behind-the-scenes) video before the release, "Talk of the Town".

Says mastermind Arjen Lucassen: "I think this is the most Ayreon-ish track on the album. It features Tom Baker, Paul Manzi, Tommy Karevik and Cammie Gilbert on vocals, and the fantastic instrumentalists Juan van Emmerloot, Joost van den Broek, Patty Gurdy, Jeroen Goossens and Ben Mathot. Oh yeah... and some tall beardy dude provides the comic relief :-) Hope you enjoy it!"

The album will be available on 2CD, 2LP gatefold red transparent vinyl and a 48-page Earbook which includes 5 discs; 2CD album, 1CD instrumental versions, 1CD guide vocal versions, and a DVD with bonus footage which includes a behind the scenes video, a videoclip, trailer and a 5.1 audio and hi-def stereo mix of the album. The release will be accompanied by a 28-page graphic novel which will be included in the Earbook as well as the 2LP.

Pre-order Transitus here. Watch a video trailer below.

In 2017 Ayreon released The Source, which revisited the Forever/Planet Y saga, but now three years later it is time for something completely different…

“The year is 1884, these are dark, troubled times, fraught with greed, envy and prejudice…” begins our narrator and storyteller, Tom Baker…

Transitus is built around an entirely new story, not connected to the Ayreon universe although as always it does have some subtle links. The sci-fi theme makes way for a gothic ghost story set (partly) in the 19th century with elements of horror and the supernatural. It’s on a dark thunderous night where our story of Abby and Daniel begins.

From the mastermind of Dutch multi-instrumentalist Arjen Lucassen, Transitus is inspired by supernatural movies such as The Others, The Changeling and Ghost along with the music of soundtrack composers John Carpenter (Halloween), Ennio Morricone (Once upon a Time in the West) and Jerry Goldsmith (Omen). “And of course, I revisited all my favorite rock operas such as JC Superstar, Tommy, War of the Worlds and the Wall,” Lucassen adds.

Transitus is narrated by one of the most iconic and recognizable voices in sci-fi history, most known from his eight-year stint as Doctor Who, Tom Baker. “I was looking for a real storyteller with a mature, deep, warm voice. As a kid, I was a huge Doctor Who fan and my favorite doctor was Tom Baker. I couldn’t believe my luck when he agreed to do it! We went to the UK to record him, and it was one of those unforgettable experiences.”

As with any Ayreon album, it is an explosive and expansive affair and features Tommy Karevik (Kamelot) as Daniel and Cammie Gilbert (Oceans of Slumber) as Abby. The all-star cast also features Simone Simons (Epica), Dee Snider (Twisted Sister), Joe Satriani, Marty Friedman, Johanne James (Threshold), Noa Gruman (Scardust), Marcela Bovio (MaYan), Caroline Westendorp (The Charm the Fury), Paul Manzi (Arena), Michael Mills (Toehider) and Amanda Somerville (Avantasia, Trilium) amongst many others.

“When I started this, I just had no idea that it was going to take me this long! It took about 3 years from start to finish, and it pushed me out of my comfort zone musically and creatively. But I always need that challenge, the harder it is, the more fun for me to work on it!,” comments Lucassen.

Transitus is Lucassen’s most ambitious work yet, "This is without a doubt the most cinematic and outrageous album I’ve ever done," he affirms.

"I always start with finding singers first before I write the vocal parts, because I write the parts specifically for their vocal strengths. Because I was going for a theatrical feel for this album, this time I picked the singers not just because they are amazing singers, but because they had a certain charisma and were able to act."

Transitus is accompanied by an amazing graphic novel drawn by the renowned artist Felix Vega. “Because Ayreon’s music is so visual, I’ve always wanted to do an Ayreon graphic novel/comic book,” he says.

Reflecting on the approach to Transitus he says, “I love my last Ayreon album The Source. I often say that it sounds so much like Ayreon... if someone else would have released it I could have sued them for copyright infringement and won easily! But “our genre” is called progressive, which for me means breaking new ground and experimenting musically. So, in the true prog spirit, I set out to try something entirely different than a “typical Ayreon,” I wanted to do something more theatrical, almost like a musical. “

TEMPLE OF VOID Sign To Relapse Records; New Album Coming In 2021

TEMPLE OF VOID Sign To Relapse Records; New Album Coming In 2021

Relapse Records announces the signing of Detroit, MI-based death/doom legion, Temple Of Void. Temple Of Void are currently writing their Relapse Records debut, their fourth full length, set to be released in 2021. Stay tuned for more information in the near future.

Regarding the signing, Temple Of Void comments: "The pandemic may have stopped us playing shows, but it can’t stop us writing a new record. We’ve been hard at work ever since lock-down started, crafting new songs and exploring new ways to expand and hone our signature sound. Never a band to write the same album twice, our debut for Relapse will both be familiar and new all at the same time. Echoes of the past will meet with glimpses into the future. Each record we write stands on the shoulders of the prior albums, and this is no different. We’re beyond fucking excited to get into the studio next year and track this beast."

Temple Of Void have reverberated across the underground upon the releases of their 2014 full length, Of Terror And The Supernatural, 2017’s critically acclaimed Lords Of Death, and their most recent album, The World That Was.

The World that Was sold out of its first pressing before it was released, speaking to the support from death metal maniacs worldwide. Featuring incredible musical collaborations and artwork that pushed their cosmic atmosphere into new dimensions, The World That Was marked a new step in the band’s forward-thinking path, highlighting them as a contender for the year’s best in extreme music.

Now, with their signing to Relapse Records, Temple Of Void embark once again upon a voyage beyond death, beyond doom, and beyond the ultimate!

MEGADETH's DAVID ELLEFSON: 'We Owe Everything To METALLICA'

MEGADETH's DAVID ELLEFSON: 'We Owe Everything To METALLICA'

David Ellefson says that MEGADETH and other thrash and extreme metal bands "owe everything to METALLICA."

Dave Mustaine, who was the original lead guitarist of METALLICA, was dismissed from the band by drummer Lars Ulrich in 1983. He was replaced by Kirk Hammett and went on to form MEGADETH and achieve worldwide success on his own.

Asked in a new interview with Detroit's WRIF radio station if he and Mustaine paid close attention to what METALLICA was doing in the early years of MEGADETH's existence, Ellefson said: "Oh, of course. I mean, look, we are all just a branch off the METALLICA family tree. I mean, let's face it. Especially MEGADETH, with Dave being there, and then me being a branch off of Dave with MEGADETH. So, I mean, look, we owe everything to METALLICA. Those guys broke down the doors for every one of us — ANTHRAX, SLAYER. Bands today — LAMB OF GOD, PANTERA — none of this would have happened without METALLICA being up there as the 800-pound gorilla just carving the path through the jungle that would have never let heavy metal in. The stuff that they able to do and the size and the scope of which they were able to break those doors down, it changed all of our lives — as musicians, as fans, as everything. That's why I think when they did the 'Big Four' [shows] with us in 2010 and '11, that was just such a great olive branch."

The MEGADETH bassist continued: "As Scott Ian [ANTHRAX] said, it's like we're all brothers of the same family, it's just that one of our brothers went off and became Microsoft [laughs], and that was METALLICA. It's, like, how the hell did you do that? That's amazing. You changed the world. But the fact that they came back and, again, offered that olive branch to us and just said, 'Hey, we were all in this together. Let's celebrate what we did together so many years ago.' And I think that speaks volumes to just how cool METALLICA is."

Last year, Ellefson said that he got Mustaine's "blessing" to audition for the bassist position in METALLICA after Jason Newsted left the band more than 19 years ago. David went on to say that he learned how to play some of METALLICA's songs in preparation for what he thought would be an audition with the group but that the opportunity never materialized.

Back in 2011, Mustaine said that he was relieved that Ellefson wasn't invited to join METALLICA after the tragic death of Cliff Burton.

Burton died on tour in 1986 in a tour bus crash, three years after Mustaine was kicked out of METALLICA and went on to form MEGADETH.

The so-called "Big Four" of 1980s thrash metal — METALLICA, MEGADETH, SLAYER and ANTHRAX — played together for the first time in history on June 16, 2010 in front of 81,000 fans at the Sonisphere festival at Bemowo Airport in Warsaw, Poland and shared a bill again for six more shows as part of the Sonisphere series that same year. They reunited again for several dates in 2011, including the last "Big Four" concert, which was held on September 14, 2011 at Yankee Stadium in New York City. Since then, METALLICA, SLAYER and ANTHRAX have played a number of shows together, including the 2013 Soundwave festival in Australia. They also performed at the 2014 Heavy MTL festival in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

KID ROCK Says He 'Could Care Less' About 'Continuous Attacks' From Left-Wing Media, Announces 'Career Documentary'

KID ROCK Says He 'Could Care Less' About 'Continuous Attacks' From Left-Wing Media, Announces 'Career Documentary'

Kid Rock says that he "could care less" about the "continuous attacks" from the left-wing media as he prepares to join President Donald Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr., at a Michigan event to promote the president's re-election campaign Monday (September 14).

Earlier today, Kid Rock took to his Instagram to share a photo of him getting steroid shots at the doctor's office, and he included the following message:

"In case anyone is not clear on how much I support our President…

"Myself and Don Jr have a rally tonight in Macomb County Michigan for his re-election.

"I have been dealing with neck issues for years (from performing like I do for the past 30 years) and spent the morning at the Dr's office getting 2 Steroid shots, one in my ass and the other in my neck, etc, etc.

"Would make sense to cancel my appearance, but NO WAY! I will be there and will give it everything I have this evening.

"That is how important getting POTUS re-elected is too me and I could care less about the continuous attacks from the left wing media, etc, that have been going on for over 4 years now. It's the reason I have turned down countless interviews and TV appearances as I refuse to be their click bait.

"I am currently filming a career documentary and will address EVERYTHING in it, on my own terms, to be released next year with new music and schedule one last monster tour (2021??) that will kick my critics in their ass and give all the love I have to the fans. (R U Scared?)

"'AIN'T NOBODY GONNA TELL ME HOW TO LIVE' (new song?)

"#Trump2020 - Kid Rock

"PS - I said years ago that TIME OUTS AND LAST PLACE TROPHIES would come back to haunt us!"

The "Make America Great Again" event, which is being held at Bumpers Landing Boat Club in Harrison Township, will also feature Kimberly Guilfoyle, Trump Jr.'s girlfriend who serves as the president's senior advisor.

The rally will be held at 7 p.m. General admission is free, but registration is mandatory.

This past January, Kid Rock posed for a photo at Trump International Golf Club in Palm Beach, Florida, with Donald Trump Jr. The musician, whose real name is Robert James Ritchie, was wearing a t-shirt mocking House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, who helped lead both House Democrats' impeachment inquiry and the House intelligence committee's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Back in 2016, Kid Rock showed his support for the president by selling a line of Trump-themed T-shirts. Among them was a shirt that Rock was photographed wearing, on which states that voted red were labeled "The United States of America" and states that went blue were called "Dumbfuckistan." Another shirt said "God, Guns And Trump," while a third read "_onald Trump: The 'D' is missing because it's in every hater's mouth."

Rock first announced his support for Trump in early 2016, telling Rolling Stone: "I'm digging Trump. I feel like a lot of people, whether you're a Democrat or a Republican, feel like if you get Hillary or Bernie, or you get Rubio or Cruz or whoever, there's going to be the same shit... My feeling: let the motherfucking business guy run it like a fucking business. And his campaign has been entertaining as shit."

Rock, who generally leans to the right, also supported Mitt Romney in 2012.

OZZY OSBOURNE Says His 'Suicide Solution' Song Was Misunderstood: 'People Get The F**king Thing Wrong'

OZZY OSBOURNE Says His 'Suicide Solution' Song Was Misunderstood: 'People Get The F**king Thing Wrong'

SiriusXM's Ozzy's Boneyard will air a special, "40 Years Of Ozzy Osbourne's 'Blizzard Of Ozz'", to honor the special anniversary of Ozzy's classic debut solo album. "40 Years Of Ozzy Osbourne's 'Blizzard Of Ozz" will premiere on Friday, September 18 at 5:00 p.m. ET and 11:00 p.m. ET and will be rebroadcast throughout the weekend.

Ozzy and Billy Morrison take SiriusXM subscribers through a track-by-track rundown of "Blizzard Of Ozz", including the song "Suicide Solution", which was the subject of controversy in 1986 when the parents of a teenager who shot himself to death filed suit against the singer, contending their son was influenced by the track's lyrics.

Speaking about the allegations in the lawsuit, Ozzy told Morrison (hear audio below): "Well, that was all taken out of perspective. So we wrote this song about... We were all doing some serious pounding of the booze back then. I'd been drinking heavily for a long, long time. And it's, like, 'Suicide Solution' means solution being liquid — not a way out. People get the fucking thing wrong."

Regarding how he first found out he was being sued, Ozzy said: "Sharon [Ozzy's wife and manager] phoned me up in England. She said, 'Get on a plane. You've gotta come out.' I said, 'Tell me what I've got to come out for.' She said, 'I'll tell you when you get here.' I said, 'Is it problems?' She said, 'Just get on a fucking plane.' I get to LAX, come to the terminal, and there must've been 200 cameras. I'm looking over my shoulder [while] I'm standing, and [there are] about 15 microphones in front of me: 'What do you think of this lawsuit?' And I'm going, 'What lawsuit? I'm gonna go back to the hotel. I'll find out what it's all about."

Asked by Morrison if he was shocked to find out about the lawsuit, Osbourne said: "More than shocked."

The parents of 19-year-old John McCollum believed that Ozzy was responsible for their son's death because there were lyrics in the song that incited the teenager to kill himself. McCollum allegedly was listening to Osbourne when he shot himself October 27, 1984, with his father’s .22-caliber pistol.

A line in "Suicide Solution" says: "Where to hide, suicide is the way out. Don't you know what it's really about?"

Osbourne responded that "Suicide Solution" was actually an anti-suicide composition written about AC/DC singer Bon Scott, who drank himself to death in 1980.

A California court dismissed the McCollums' lawsuit in 1988, ruling that John's suicide was not a foreseeable result of Osbourne's song.

MARILYN MANSON On OZZY OSBOURNE: 'He's Always Been A Very Quiet And Interesting Person'

MARILYN MANSON On OZZY OSBOURNE: 'He's Always Been A Very Quiet And Interesting Person'

Marilyn Manson spoke to Consequence Of Sound about the influence that Ozzy Osbourne has had on his career, and he reminisced about his early exposure to the legendary BLACK SABBATH singer's music.

"I remember getting [Ozzy's solo debut] 'Blizzard Of Ozz' when I was in Christian school," Manson recalled. "My mother took me to get it at the record store when it was highly frowned upon and forbidden in Christian school. But I just remember that he had this strange mystique that he's never really escaped from, despite the fact that he even had a reality TV show. Somehow his music outlived that [show]. That's something I would not have done, 'cause I would never want to share my personal life on reality TV. But his music completely exceeds that, which I find to be amazing."

Manson continued: "I remember having a 'Shot In The Dark' poster on my wall, in 10th grade, I think, and it was so great to have gotten to tour with him and with BLACK SABBATH as well. And he's always been a very quiet and interesting person. We bonded over painting, strangely enough, at one point on tour."

Manson was originally scheduled to support Osbourne on tour this year, but those dates were canceled so that Ozzy could fully recover from several medical issues he suffered in 2019, including a fall, neck surgery and hospitalization for the flu.

Manson released his eleventh studio album, "We Are Chaos", on September 11 via Loma Vista Recordings. Produced by Grammy Award winner Shooter Jennings (Brandi Carlile, Tanya Tucker) and Manson, the ten-track opus was written, recorded, and finished before the coronavirus pandemic hit the entire world.

BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE Has 'About 20 Songs' Written For 'Heavy As F**k' New Album

BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE Has 'About 20 Songs' Written For 'Heavy As F**k' New Album

In a new interview with "The Ex-Man" podcast hosted by Doc Coyle (BAD WOLVES), BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE guitarist Michael "Padge" Paget revealed that the band will enter the studio before the end of the year to begin recording the follow-up to 2018's "Gravity" album. He said (hear audio below): "We're, I'd say, 85 percent [done] writing. We did a bunch last year. Obviously, we did fuck all this year. Matt's [Tuck, vocals/guitar] been down the last few weeks, down at my place, up in the garage, in the studio, so we've been demoing. I think we've got about five or six in the last few weeks as well — four or five, maybe — to add to the list. There's about 20 songs, but we're weeding out the [best] ones [for the album]."

As for the musical direction of the new BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE material, Paget said: "It's heavy as fuck — it's, like, the heaviest BULLET stuff you've ever heard, which is cool. Everyone's vibing. [Matt is] cool. I'm cool. The [rest of the] boys are cool. It's just we need to get out of this [pandemic] situation we're in so that music carries on and we can put on shows again. Same as everybody else that's in the same situation."

Asked if he is the type of person that appreciates being able to spend a few months at home amid the coronavirus pandemic or if he is dying to get back on the road, Paget said: "Not the road, but I need to work — I need to do something. [After spending] three or four days at home, I'm, like, 'What the fuck's going on? I need to do something.' So thank God I've got a studio that I can record and just mess around in. It's saved me through the lockdown — it really has — 'cause it's just across the driveway in the garage. So it's nice. I've got my own space. I can make it as loud as I want, as quiet as I want. I can spend time up there. I can think about things — get creative."

He continued: "Some people have gone through absolute hell through this pandemic, being stuck up on high-rise tower blocks with all of the privacy but nothing else. And some people have got really big houses with swimming pools and shit, so nothing changes. [Laughs]"

This past May, Tuck told Rock Sound that the new BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE songs were turning out "pretty brutal." He added: "It couldn't be more of a contrast with 'Gravity' in a ferocious style. It's very technical. I don't know why. You've just gotta go with what you wanna go with — as a band, as a musician, as a songwriter, you've just gotta go with what's floating your boat, and this time around, the heavy stuff is just coming out in masses. The riffs are crushing. There's probably 60 percent aggressive vocals, 40 [percent] clean, which is a ratio we've never really dabbled with before. It's very heavy, it's very technical. For the BULLET fans out there that kind of like that side of this band, it's very cool and very exciting. It feels good."

Tuck went on to say that the initial studio sessions for BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE's next album were being overseen by Carl Bown, who previously worked with the band on "Gravity" and 2015's "Venom".

Two years ago, Tuck told France's Loud TV that BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE "tried to elevate the band's sound" on "Gravity" "to a completely different level. We experimented with layering different guitars and guitar-sound stuff, and it just didn't have the same effect. So we took that decision to start experimenting with synths and electronic software and stuff like that," he explained. "And, yeah, it was an interesting experience; it's not something we'd done before, so we were kind of learning as we went. And we just had some fun with it and got weird with it and freaked ourselves out with it and then got it to a place where it is on the album now, which… It doesn't really take over anything; it's just kind of layers of sound backing up the riffs and the drums, really, so I think we've used it in a way which won't freak people out too much. It's definitely there, and it was something that we were very careful that we didn't overcook. But I think we've got a really good balance, and it just accentuates the band's parts even more."

"Gravity" was released in June 2018 through BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE's new label home, Search And Destroy, the imprint launched in 2014 by Spinefarm and international artist management company Raw Power Management.
