GARGOYL Feat. REVOCATION Mastermind DAVE DAVIDSON Streaming New Single "Wraith"

GARGOYL Feat. REVOCATION Mastermind DAVE DAVIDSON Streaming New Single "Wraith"

Progressive grunge rockers Gargoyl, which features guitar virtuoso Dave Davidson (Revocation) and guitarist/vocalist Luke Roberts (Ayahuasca), will be releasing their debut full-length on October 9 via Season Of Mist. The band is streaming the second single, "Wraith". Listen below.

“A big part of the impetus to form Gargoyl was to have a vehicle for our different influences so this track will give listeners a taste of the diverse moods this album has to offer," comments Davidson on the song's musical composition. "‘Wraith’ showcases a different side of my playing and compositional style that people are normally associated with. I had part of the music written for this piece for quite sometime, but it really came to life for me when I heard Luke’s haunting vocal melodies and lyrics. I hope you find this track eerily beautiful as well.”

Regarding the lyrics, Roberts adds, “In the first world, there's a paradigm that ‘one day I'll be gone so I might as well just look out for me while I'm here.’ “But imagine in death, in some form, you were still cognizant, trapped in the concrete and power lines of the city you live in, forced to watch the sum of everything you set in motion in your life unfold. Forced to watch your predecessors crawl through the legacy you left in your wake, desperately clinging to the pursuit of happiness in an unravelling world.

“If this was your fate, would then how you live and how you treat everyone and everything around you not become of dire importance?”

Gargoyl's self-titled album is available for pre-order here.

Tracklisting:

"Truth Of A Tyrant"
"Plastic Nothing"
"Cursed Generation"
"Electrical Sickness"
"Wraith"
"Ophidian"
"Nightmare Conspiracy"
"Waltz Dystopia"
"Ambivalent I"
"Acid Crown"
"Asphyxia"

"Electrical Sickness" visualizer:

Gargoyl is many things at once, which, automatically subjects the band to the journalistic and fan guessing game/rite of passage as to what style they actually are. Their 11-song self-titled debut is progressive, atmospheric, heavy, technical and avant-garde; a blend of sounds that ultimately coalesce into a body of work that engages and challenges. That, in itself, covers a broad spectrum, but further inroads into Gargoyl’s sound continually reveal new elements of intrigue and persuasion. It is the beauty - and purpose - of the project.

Formed in early 2018 by guitarist Dave Davidson (Revocation) and guitarist/vocalist Luke Roberts (Ayahuasca), the groundwork for Gargoyl was laid when the two men met while on tour. The pair realized they shared a musical kinship and admiration for one another and made good on their word to see the project through. Gargoyl’s two-song Asomatous demo was released in March 2019, setting the stage for their eventual signing to Season of Mist and release of their debut LP this October. The album’s drums were recorded in July 2019 with Chris Johnson at GodCity Studios in Salem, Massachusetts; guitars were tracked with Greg Dawson at BWC Studios outside of Toronto. Vocals were recorded by Roberts at his home studio.

Gargoyl is completed by the virtuosic talents of bassist Brett Leier and drummer James Knoerl who collectively add further layers of intrigue and soul to the music. The collaboration between members opened up the creative floodgates and further expanded their sound. “The riffs were flowing out so fast,” remarks Davidson about the early stages of the writing process. “It was clear that these ideas were in the back of our minds waiting to come out.”

The music for their self-titled album was split evenly between Davidson and Roberts, with Roberts also penning the album’s lyrics and vocal melodies. “Working with someone in more of a 50/50 kind of collaborative style was new for me,” elaborates Davidson. “It’s nice having someone to split those writing duties with, someone who is just as invested in every little single intricacy and detail. It allowed me to function in a different sort of role, which was refreshing. I think that also led to more creativity because I’m writing in a different style, writing with all new members and taking on a different writing role in a band.”

The haunting and melancholic tonality of Roberts’ vocals is undoubtedly one of the primary facets of Gargoyl’s sound. Roberts’s layering, harmonies and inflection, at times, recall classic vocalists from the ’90s grunge era, but what really sold Davidson was his versatility and ability to contour his clean, distinctive vocals over unorthodox compositions.

As a result, Gargoyl’s debut successfully oscillates between unnerving, emotional segments, to progressive, Goth-tinged hard rock. Davidson and Roberts have crafted Gargoyl in such a manner that it refuses to be boxed-in. Davidson has already fielded quite a few assertions on Gargoyl’s sound - some have tagged it as grunge meets black metal, Queens of The Stone Age meets Voivod or even a jazzier version of Alice In Chains.

“Anytime a band has a lot of different influences…I think it’s important to have a clear vision and goal so that all those influences mesh together in a way that doesn’t sound forced,” says Davidson. “I wanted it to be a cohesive, artistic statement and I know that Luke does as well. I’ve always wanted to blend genres. In the truest sense of the word we’re ‘prog rock.’”

PRIMAL FEAR Release Official Video For "The Lost & The Forgotten"

PRIMAL FEAR Release Official Video For "The Lost & The Forgotten"

Primal Fear recently released their highly anticipated 13th studio album, Metal Commando, which has entered the charts worldwide, achieving their highest entries ever and six Top 10 positions; including #7 in Germany, #6 in Switzerland and #4 in the UK Rock charts. Today, the band release a new video for the new single "The Lost & The Forgotten".

Mat Sinner comments: "'The Lost & The Forgotten' follows the Primal Fear tradition for example our songs 'The End Is Near' or 'Hounds Of Justice' of the last albums, and shows the more brutal, modern side of the band, which will be a very strong contender for the forthcoming live shows. Thanks to the team for their fantastic hard work to realize our vision of the song, especially Markus Staiger, Bodo Hayen and Ubikmedia!"

The title of the album is self-explainatory - Metal Commando contains 110% Primal Fear and is full to the brim with their signature power and energy.

In celebration of the release, last week the band has issued the new single and video "Hear Me Calling". Watch the clip below.

Bassist Matt Sinner comments: "The special thing about 'Hear Me Calling' is, that we are combining the vibes of the first PF albums with the new Primnal Fear of 2020. It's great, because Tom (Naumann) was a part of the song-writing and the basis of the song was made in my studio. Ralf (Scheepers) made the lyrics, perfectly interpreting all the emotions and with a really strong chorus. Far away from home, in a shady plane somewhere between Peru and Bolivia, thinking about home... a strong combination of powerful guitar riffs, awesome melodies, groove and a great hook!"

Metal Commando was produced by Mat Sinner and mixed by Jacob Hansen - an experienced dream-team. The album will contain 11 tracks.

Tracklisting:

“I Am Alive”
“Along Came The Devil”
“Halo”

Exclusive: EVERY HOUR KILLS Cover JOE SATRIANI’s “Time”

Exclusive: EVERY HOUR KILLS Cover JOE SATRIANI’s “Time”

Every Hour Kills from Calgary, Canada is examining extraterrestrial threats and pondering the consequences of making dire and desperate decisions. Complete with a masterfully illustrated storybook from Splice Comics, this upcoming EP Re:Awaken is a work of art in many ways.

The second single off the EP is a Joe Satriani cover, “Time”, featuring a guest guitar solo from Rick Graham. It’s an instrumental dénouement to take the listener on a journey through the infinite. It is a heavier re-imagining of the classic, with enough familiarity to entice Satriani’s fans and a lick of creativity to stand on its own.

Re:Awaken is set in the 22nd century, when humankind was crippled by a relentless plague with no known cure. An ancient race of interstellar beings, the Illusorians, descended from the skies and offered a means to end the suffering of humanity. Each track follows the story of a person trying to navigate this cruel and unsettling reality.

Cinematic, progressive juxtaposing angular heaviness with soaring melody, each single is meant to stand alone and come together with the concept of the EP. There is no filler allowed in this project. The songs are all different yet still retain the underlying themes.

Suitable for fans of modern and progressive metal, and bands such as In Flames, Starset, and Bring me the Horizon, “Re:Awaken” comes out on October 9, 2020. The single "Time" ft. guest guitar solo Rick Graham (Joe Satriani cover) is available via its premiere on BraveWords!

Re:Awaken is out October 9; pre-save the EP here.

“Anthelion”
“Re:Awaken”
“Time” (Joe Satriani cover)
“Veiled Aurora” (Instrumental)
“Re:Awaken” (Instrumental)

SYSTEM OF A DOWN's SERJ TANKIAN To Release 'Elasticity' EP In The Fall

SYSTEM OF A DOWN's SERJ TANKIAN To Release 'Elasticity' EP In The Fall

SYSTEM OF A DOWN frontman Serj Tankian will release a new solo EP called "Elasticity" in the fall.

Tankian recently filmed a video for the disc's apparent first single, "Rumi". Several stills from the shoot can be seen below.

This past May, Tankian described "Elasticity" as a collection of "rock songs" that were first meant for SYSTEM OF A DOWN. He told SPIN: "Originally, I had these songs in mind for a SYSTEM record if we were to end up doing a SYSTEM record. But as we could not really see eye to eye on how to go forward with that, I decided to finish them off myself and release them as an EP."

Tankian later told Grammy.com that the songs on "Elasticity" "have more synth flavors than most SYSTEM songs do, more arpeggiated stuff like that, but they still have the heavy groove and also a lot of beautiful ballady stuff that is more like 'Elect The Dead' and some of my earlier solo stuff. It's a really good EP," he said.

Tankian said he was calling the EP "Elasticity" as a play on SYSTEM's massive 2001 album "Toxicity".

SYSTEM OF A DOWN hasn't released any new music since the "Mezmerize" and "Hypnotize" LPs, which came out in 2005.

In 2018, guitarist Daron Malakian publicly accused Tankian of not wanting to record, with Tankian responding that creative and financial issues with Malakian led to the stalemate. In a message on Facebook, Tankian wrote that Malakian wanted to control SYSTEM's creative process, take more of the publishing money and be the only band member to speak to the press.

Last year, Serj told Rolling Stone that the public airing of his dispute with Daron didn't open up any more conversations about SYSTEM's future. "I think it released a lot of tension and negativity," he said. "Everything became more public and open, and that was that. There were no further discussions."

SYSTEM OF A DOWN played a couple of live shows in May 2019, including headlining slots at Columbus, Ohio's Sonic Temple festival and Chicago Open Air.

The band was scheduled to play a number of European festivals this summer, but all of those shows have been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic which is sweeping the globe.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH Named 'Best Live Act' At AIM AWARDS

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH Named 'Best Live Act' At AIM AWARDS

Las Vegas-based metallers FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH are currently on the set of new horror movie "The Retaliators", filming their parts and recording a music video for the film soundtrack.

In other news, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH is celebrating yet another achievement in its career by winning the prestigious "Best Live Act" award at tonight's 10th anniversary edition of the AIM Awards.

Singer Ivan Moody, guitarist Zoltan Bathory and bassist Chris Kael share their thoughts: "We want to take a second to tell you what a tremendous honor it is to receive the best live act AIM Award 2020 and an extra special shout out to AIM for always providing growth and opportunities for independent artists and labels. We are proud to be one of them. We look forward to seeing every last one of you out on tour sooner than later. Stay safe out there, keep well!"

Dan Waite, MD Europe Better Noise Music, comments: "It's fantastic to have AIM as a backer and champion for the independent music community. AIM's knowledge support and guidance is invaluable to independent record labels. FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH winning AIM Best Live Act is testament to the band's passion, integrity, vision and lack of compromise when putting together global arena-filling shows. Their fans recognize that and voted accordingly. Thank you."

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH's latest album, "F8", was released in February. The follow-up to 2018's "And Justice For None" capped a turbulent period for FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH in which Moody finally got sober after a near-fatal struggle with addiction, while co-founding drummer Jeremy Spencer bowed out of the band due to physical issues.

Much of "F8"'s lyrical content deals with Moody's battle with addiction, its aftermath and his recovery. The singer celebrated two years of sobriety in March.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH's new disc was once again helmed by Kevin Churko, the Canadian record producer/engineer and songwriter who currently lives in Las Vegas, where he works out of his private studio, The Hideout Recording Studio. The drums on the LP were laid down by Charlie "The Engine" Engen, who made his live debut with the group during its fall 2018 tour with BREAKING BENJAMIN.

COREY TAYLOR Guests On Rapper TECH N9NE's New Single 'Bitch Slap' (Audio)

COREY TAYLOR Guests On Rapper TECH N9NE's New Single 'Bitch Slap' (Audio)

Rapper Tech N9ne has released a new single, "Bitch Slap", featuring a guest appearance by SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor. The song is taken from "More Fear", which is said to be a supplemental EP release to his latest album, "Enter Fear", which came out in April.

Taylor previously worked with Tech N9ne on a song called "Wither" in 2015 and on Corey's latest solo single, "CMFT Must Be Stopped", which arrived last month.

In a 2018 interview with Des Moines Register, Tech N9ne stated about his "Wither" collaboration with Taylor: "It's, like, such a dream that I've always had since 1999; since I first heard [SLIPKNOT's] first record." He added Sid Wilson, SLIPKNOT turntablist, would comes Tech N9ne's early Des Moines shows and stage dive during his set.

Taylor will release his debut solo album, "CMFT", on October 2 via Roadrunner Records. Taylor recorded the effort with his band consisting of Jason Christopher on bass, Dustin Schoenhofer on drums, and Zach Throne and Christian Martucci (STONE SOUR) on guitar. The LP was completed at Kevin Churko's The Hideout Recording Studio in Las Vegas with producer Jay Ruston, who has previously worked with ANTHRAX, STEEL PANTHER and STONE SOUR, among others.

Listen To New SEETHER Song 'Beg'

Listen To New SEETHER Song 'Beg'

SEETHER's new single, "Beg", can be streamed below. The track will be included on the band's eighth album, "Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum", which is due on August 28 via Fantasy Records.

Three years after releasing its critically acclaimed record "Poison The Parish", SEETHER returns with "Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum". Translating to "If You Want Peace, Prepare For War", the LP features 13 new tracks, a primal mix of euphoria and misery, undoubtedly some of the strongest material of their illustrious career, including the beautifully tormented first single "Dangerous". An animated music video for the track was created by noted Turkish director Mertcan Mertbilek (Santana, Ray Charles, Ravi Shankar, Elvis Costello).

"These songs are carefully crafted to nestle in your ears like a tiny velvet rabbit clutching a switchblade," says frontman Shaun Morgan, his flair for vivid imagery on full display. That bold openness strikes a chord musically and lyrically on songs that explore and eviscerate demons both personal and cultural. "This whole album is kind of me going through that process. I'm exposing myself to a degree I'm not normally comfortable with," he says. "But I think it's okay. I'm proud to be a little bit more vulnerable on this album."

"Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum" was produced by Morgan and engineered and mixed by Matt Hyde (DEFTONES, AFI) in Nashville from December 2019 through January 2020. The band is joined on the album by newest member Corey Lowery (ex-guitarist/vocalist for SAINT ASONIA and STUCK MOJO), Morgan's friend of 16 years, who also assistant-engineered the album.

"Corey has a lot of experience and is an inspiring guitarist as well; he's the older brother I've always wanted," Morgan said. SEETHER's rock-solid rhythm section is bassist and founding member Dale Stewart, and drummer John Humphrey (who joined in 2003).

The new album's haunting, unforgettable "Dangerous" is an instant standout. While the band prefers to leave "Dangerous" open to interpretation, lyrics like, "It's so dangerous all this blamelessness / and I feel like I lost all the good I've known" are a passionate and pointed indictment of self and society at large. "Beg", where Morgan snarls, "See hope fading out of your eyes / This time the pain is going to feel unreal," is similarly unrelenting. The chorus's point-blank demand, "beg, motherfucker!" is a primal rock rallying cry. "Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum"'s brutal but beautiful lyrics infuse these songs with cathartic urgency like this from the track "Failure": "I live my life like a broken-hearted failure / I'm trying to shed some light on the scars left by the razors."

The push-pull on "Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum" is as dynamic as it is memorable as Morgan brings his intimate singer-songwriter sensibility to the band's heavy rock grooves. Drawing on influences including the dark and raw honesty of grunge's epic guitar attack and the South African underground punk and metal that Morgan (and Stewart) grew up on, SEETHER's sonic brew is unmistakable and timeless.

"Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum" track listing:

01. Dead And Done

02. Bruised And Bloodied

03. Wasteland

04. Dangerous

05. Liar

06. Can't Go Wrong

07. Buried In The Sand

08. Let It Go

09. Failure

10. Beg

11. Drift Away

12. Pride Before The Fall

13. Written In Stone

Morgan spoke about "Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum" during a YouTube session on May 24. He said: "A lot of it was written over the course of about 10 months. There were about 40 to 45 songs in contention for the album. We ended up settling on recording 21 tracks, which is more than we've recorded before. And yeah, we've kind of whittled down the album to include 13 tracks."

He continued: "It's my favorite album we've done to date — by far. The songs, I think, are the strongest songs we've written. I'm really super proud of it. I produced it again, with Matt Hyde [SLAYER, DEFTONES] engineering and Corey Lowery [guitar], my boy, as assistant engineer, and I think it turned out killer. We worked in a little place called Dark Horse studio [in Franklin, Tennessee], and we did 21 tracks, I think, in about 17 days, which, I think, is a testament to everybody having had the demos for a while and having learned it, so by the time we got in there, we didn't waste any time. We worked long days — we started at about ten o'clock in the morning and worked till about ten o'clock at night. So there was no noon-till-six-type stuff that I've had to deal with in the past."

Morgan and Stewart formed SEETHER in South Africa in 1999 under the name SARON GAS. The band released its first album, "Fragile", in 2000, and eventually caught the attention of American record label Wind-Up Records.

SEETHER has undergone several lineup changes over the years, with Morgan and Stewart remaining constant.

Legendary UFO Bassist PETE WAY Dead At 69

Legendary UFO Bassist PETE WAY Dead At 69

Iconic bass player Pete Way, founder of UFO, WAYSTED and, more recently, THE PETE WAY BAND, has died at the age of 69. He sustained life-threatening injuries in an accident two months ago but fought hard until finally succumbing to those injuries at 11.35 a.m. BST today (Friday, August 14). His wife, Jenny, was at his side.

Way was a much-loved and highly regarded figure among rock fans, critics and fellow musicians alike. Best known for his work with UFO, Pete's energetic live performances were at the heart of the band's countless world tours. His melodic bass lines underpinned the catalog of enduring rock classics upon which UFO's reputation and legacy were founded. Pete's post-UFO work included collaborating with "Fast" Eddie Clarke from MOTÖRHEAD — the two putting together FASTWAY with HUMBLE PIE drummer Jerry Shirley — and playing bass for his longtime friend Ozzy Osbourne. He then put together his own band WAYSTED. Pete's keen ear for song arrangements have also seen him serve as producer for popular hard rock acts such as TWISTED SISTER and the COCKNEY REJECTS.

Pete had recently finished a solo album, "Walking On The Edge", with producer Mike Clink (GUNS N' ROSES' "Appetite For Destruction", among many more). He had a biography published, "A Fast Ride Out Of Here", in 2017, and an album, "Amphetamine", which is currently out on Cargo Records.

Way had dealt with a number of health issues in recent years. In 2016, he suffered a heart attack, two years after he was given the all-clear following a battle with prostate cancer with which he was diagnosed in 2013. Way was diagnosed during a routine check on his liver, which had been damaged over the years through hepatitis. The abdominal scan picked up the tumor on his prostate.

In a 2016 interview with Classic Rock, Way admitted that he "shoved half of South America" up his nose for the best part of three decades.

"I only have myself to blame," he said. "I put my heart under a lot of strain. I know that."

Still, Way said that he wouldn't go back and alter anything about his experiences.

"Look, I have no regrets," he said. "I can't have any regrets. I've had a brilliant life. I wouldn't want to change a thing."

Pete is survived by two daughters, Zowie and Charlotte, and his younger brother, Neill.

Listen To EVANESCENCE's New Single, 'Use My Voice', Featuring LZZY HALE, TAYLOR MOMSEN, SHARON DEN ADEL And More

Listen To EVANESCENCE's New Single, 'Use My Voice', Featuring LZZY HALE, TAYLOR MOMSEN, SHARON DEN ADEL And More

EVANESCENCE is back with a unique new single, "Use My Voice", out today via Sony.

Featuring a lineup of badass women who lent their voices to the anthemic chorus in the song, "Use My Voice" was written to celebrate the power of speaking out in order to promote more justice in the world.

EVANESCENCE singer Amy Lee said: "This is an era of awakening, and full of powerful beauty. I hope to inspire others to seek truth, find their own voices, and use them as I step up to use mine. Don't let anybody speak for you. Only you can do that."

Amy's top-notch crew of collaborators on "Use My Voice" are:

* Taylor Momsen of THE PRETTY RECKLESS

* Lzzy Hale of HALESTORM

* Violinist Lindsey Stirling

* Deena Jakoub of VERIDIA (longtime friend of Amy's and co-writer of the song)

* Sharon Den Adel of WITHIN TEMPTATION

* Amy's sisters: Carrie South and Lori Lee Bulloch

* Amy McLawhorn, wife of EVANESCENCE guitarist Troy McLawhorn

"Use My Voice" has been chosen by HeadCount in the USA to encourage voters to register, check their registration, or find out about their remote voting options amidst the COVID-19 pandemic at UseMyVoice.org.

"Use My Voice" follows "Wasted On You" and "The Game Is Over" as the third track to be released from "The Bitter Truth", EVANESCENCE's forthcoming new album, and their first containing all-new material in nearly a decade.

EVANESCENCE's new music is being produced by Nick Raskulinecz, who also worked on 2011's self-titled LP.

Lee told Loudwire about the musical direction of the new EVANESCENCE material: "It's a combination of a lot of things. It's definitely one hundred percent us, but it's also taking risks. And I think it's meaningful — it's deeply meaningful. But at the same time, a lot of it has attitude. I don't know if I can explain that super well, but some of our music is like that. If you can listen back and think about, especially some of the later music, like 'What You Want' or 'Call Me When You're Sober', there's a track or two in there that is the next step from that in its feeling, I would say."

EVANESCENCE spent much of the last two years recording and touring in support of 2017's "Synthesis", which contained some of the band's best-loved songs — as well as a couple of new ones — reinvented with full orchestra over a deep electronic landscape.

MASTODON, LAMB OF GOD And WEEZER Featured On 'Bill & Ted Face The Music: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack'

MASTODON, LAMB OF GOD And WEEZER Featured On 'Bill & Ted Face The Music: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack'

MASTODON and LAMB OF GOD are among the artists who appear on the soundtrack of the upcoming third installment of the famed "Bill & Ted" film franchise. Both the soundtrack and the film are due out on August 28.

"Bill & Ted Face The Music" reunites Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves in the title roles for the first time since 1991's "Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey". It was produced by Oscar winner Steven Soderbergh and directed by Dean Parisot ("Galaxy Quest").

"Bill & Ted Face The Music: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" track listing:

01. BIG BLACK DELTA - "Lost in Time"

02. ALEC WIGDAHL - "Big Red Balloon"

03. WEEZER - "Beginning Of The End (Wyld Stallyns Edit)"

04. COLD WAR KIDS - "Story Of Our Lives"

05. MASTODON - "Rufus Lives"

06. BIG BLACK DELTA - "Circuits Of Time"

07. POORSTACY - "Darkest Night"

08. LAMB OF GOD - "The Death Of Us"

09. FIDLAR - "Breaker"

10. CULTURE WARS - "Leave Me Alone"

11. BLAME MY YOUTH - "Right Where You Belong"

12. WYLD STALLYNS (feat. Animals As Leaders, Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah) - "Face The Music"

13. WYLD STALLYNS - "That Which Binds Us Through Time: The Chemical, Physical and Biological Nature of Love; an Exploration of The Meaning of Meaning, Part 1"

The official "Face The Music" plot synopsis: "Yet to fulfill their rock and roll destiny, the now middle-aged best friends set out on a new adventure when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it. Along the way, they will be helped by their daughters, a new batch of historical figures, and a few music legends — to seek the song that will set their world right and bring harmony in the universe."

Back in May, MASTODON's guitarist Bill Kelliher told the "Rock & Roll Beer Guy" podcast about his band's contribution to "Bill & Ted Face The Music": "Working with Hollywood is — same with record companies — they think that when you're an artist, a musician, it's like going to McDonald's — they can just order what they want and you get it your way, and there it is. It's, like, no, it doesn't [work that way], at least with our band. There might be some session guys or whatever that can work like that, like, 'Hey, I want a bluesy jingle that goes something like that,' and they can pull that out of their ass in a minute. But we're not like that.

"With the movie industry, they were, like, 'We want a song for the movie, and this is the description of the part.' So we wrote something, and we turned it in, and we don't hear back for weeks, for months. And then they're, like, 'Yeah, well, the director doesn't really like this part' — I guess like a 20-second clip — and he's, like, 'Yeah, he doesn't like this. Can you change this?' And I'm, like, 'No. I can't. I'm not changing it. I'm sorry. Don't use the song then.' I was pissed. They were, like, 'They wanted more like an AC/DC style,' and I'm, like, 'Then fucking call AC/DC.'

"We wrote a killer fucking song, and the music director of the movie, he's the one that chose us, he loves the song, but the director is, like, 'Well, this is clashing with that,'" he added. "I'm, like, 'You've had it for months. Why didn't you tell us months ago?' Especially now with the pandemic, nobody's in the same room together. It's not like we all live in the same studio and we can just pull stuff out of our ass all day long."

"Bill & Ted Face The Music" is not be the first time a MASTODON track has been featured in a motion picture. Back in 2007, MASTODON performed the opening song of "Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film For Theaters".

NICKELBACK To Release Cover Of THE CHARLIE DANIELS BAND's 'The Devil Went Down To Georgia'

NICKELBACK To Release Cover Of THE CHARLIE DANIELS BAND's 'The Devil Went Down To Georgia'

NICKELBACK has collaborated with Canadian fusion guitarist Dave Martone on a cover of THE CHARLIE DANIELS BAND classic "The Devil Went Down To Georgia". The track will be released digitally on Friday, August 14. A short preview is available below.

Last month, KORN released its own cover of "The Devil Went Down To Georgia", featuring a guest appearance by rapper YelaWolf.

As previously reported, NICKELBACK's "All The Right Reasons: 15th Anniversary Expanded Edition" will be released as a two-CD set on October 2 and will also be available digitally on all streaming platforms. The collection features a newly remastered version of the original 2005 album, a selection of B-sides and a 2006 live concert recording.

NICKELBACK's third consecutive No. 1 album, "All The Right Reasons" topped the charts in the band's native Canada, the U.S., U.K., Germany, Australia and New Zealand. To date, it has sold more than 19 million copies worldwide and has been certified diamond by the RIAA. The record produced seven singles, including five Top 20 hits: "Photograph", "Savin' Me", "Far Away", "Rockstar" and "If Everyone Cared".

Frontman Chad Kroeger told The Pulse Of Radio a while back that he doesn't know the formula for NICKELBACK's success. "I used to think I knew how to help another band achieve success, and I don't think I know how to do that anymore," he said. "I mean, that's what every record company is looking for, aren't they? How do we get a band to be as successful as we possibly can. There's just something there about four guys that get together, make music, and they get onstage and they play their hearts out for their fans... sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't."

RISING STEEL Streaming Title Track Of Upcoming Fight Them All Album

RISING STEEL Streaming Title Track Of Upcoming Fight Them All Album

Frontiers recently announced the release of Rising Steel's upcoming label debut, Fight Them All, on September 4. Today, the band has released the title track from the album. Listen to the song below, and pre-order the new album here.

Rising Steel is an up-and-coming heavy metal band from Grenoble, France, who also happens to be the first French band signed to Frontiers Music Srl. After their Warlord EP (2014) and full-length Return Of The Warlord (2016), the band shared stages with acts like Annihilator, Jaded Heart, Sister Sin, Nightmare, ADX, Nashville Pussy, and more, which garnered them more exposure to a larger international audience and eventually led them to connecting with Frontiers, who eagerly asked them to join the label's expanding metal roster.

After three years of gigging and writing new material, the band is now ready to storm the international scene with their next album, Fight Them All. Due for release on Frontiers Records on September 4, the album presents a delightfully aggressive mixture of power, heavy, and thrash metal. Explosive riffing, crushing rhythms, and songs that will make you bang your head are the order of the day on Rising Steel's upcoming record. The quintet delivers a “not so” classical heavy metal sound with their influences coming mainly from the 80’s NWOBHM, hard rock, and thrash metal scenes. Solid and powerful metal music, the band is inspired by the legacies of legends like Judas Priest and Iron Maiden and is recommended for fans with diverse metal palates who like bands ranging from Nevermore, Queensrÿche, Iced Earth, early Metallica, and the like.

NACHTBLUT To Release Vanitas Album In October; "Das Puppenhaus" Music Video Streaming

NACHTBLUT To Release Vanitas Album In October; "Das Puppenhaus" Music Video Streaming

“And anyone who doesn't follow my rules will be cut into pieces”

Three years since the release of their previous album, Apostasie, dark metal pioneers Nachtblut return with even more vigour and announce their new gloomy offering, Vanitas, out October 2 via Napalm Records.

The first single “Das Puppenhaus” (engl. the dollhouse) is reminiscent of scene giants such as Rammstein and draws the listener deep into the significant Nachtblut sound. Rhythmic guitars weave all throughout this smashing hymn while a steady rhythm underlines the honest lyrics.

The soft, harmonic, yet calm introduction may appear deceptive, but Nachtblut is by no means representing their song in a restrained manner. Askeroth’s dark voice effortlessly shifts between whispering growls and clean vocals while authentically smashing the listener’s ears.

Nachtblut on the new single: "With 'Das Puppenhaus' we combined an issue that seems to be outdated, but actually is more up to date than you might think. The title of song sounds nice and harmonious, but if you see behind the curtain you will realize the omnipresent and claustrophobic atmosphere. With the dark video for 'Das Puppenhaus' we substantiate the songs prevailing mood and giving the metaphor we use a strong visual cue.“

Watch the official video for “Das Puppenhaus”, directed by Henning Hammoor Medien & Entertainment, below.

The new album. Vanitas draws. the listener into the band’s musical maelstrom in a classifying Nachtblut manner: hard riffs, Askeroth’s incisive vocals, rousing melodies and profound, candid lyrics.

Songs like “Die Toten vergessen nicht” (engl. the dead don’t forget) shine with an unmistakably dark and orchestral sound that will cause shivers to run down the listener’s spine, while the folk-influenced song “Leierkinder” (engl. children of the lyre) convinces with an addictive rhythms and moving lyrics. With Vanitas, dark metal giants Nachtblut create a symbolic work of art somewhere between transience and infinity.

Nachtblut on their new album: "Three years after our last release, it feels great to be back with such a multifarious record. Vanitas combines many elements, from melodic songs, electronic sounds to heavy, fast riffs. We merged those to one harmonious oeuvre and we more than happy and excited about the result. As the title reveals the idea of transiency and mortality is major topic on this record and have been influenced by the Danse Macabre and the Vanitas still life paintings. But this did not limit us to not speak out about injustices and bringing up painful subjects, nor to be less contentious."

Pre-order Vanitas here.

Vanitas will be available in the following formats:

Andreas Kisser about the idea of the SepulQuarta sessions: “SepulQuarta was born out of the necessity to express ourselves in a different way since we’re all facing a new situation. SAINTED SINNERS Welcomes TYGERS OF PAN TANG Singer JACK MEILLE To The Fold; New Album Due Later This Year

Frank Pané (Bonfire, Dark Blue Inc.) has completely renewed his Sainted Sinners and put together a line-up that includes keyboardist Ernesto Ghezzi (Eros Ramazotti, Gotthard), bassist Rico Bowen (bass / Paul McCartney), and now, Tygers Of Pan Tang singer Jack Meille.

Meille has issued the following statement: "I've known Frank since quite a few years but we never had the chance to play together. When he asked me if I was interested in listening to some demos of songs I was really excited about it. Once I've listened to them I was immediately inspired and it took just a phone conversation to have clear that both Frank and myself have the same attitude and passion towards music. Joining Sainted Sinners has felt like the most natural thing!”

Sainted Sinners will release a new album this year. It will be their third album, the follow-up to 2018's Back With A Vengeance which featured former Accept vocalist David Reece.

The new Sainted Sinners line-up:

Frank Pané - Guitars

DEVIN TOWNSEND Posts Guitar Improvisation #3; Now Available For Streaming And Download

DEVIN TOWNSEND Posts Guitar Improvisation #3; Now Available For Streaming And Download

Devin Townsend has posted another guitar improvisation clip, dubbed Improvisation #3. It is live on all digital platforms and available to download. Go to this location to pick your platform, check it out below.

Townsend recently checked in with the following announcement:

"So, I was thrilled to announce my headlining of Bloodstock this year, and with an eye on doing my first 'by request' set that included my entire career, (including SYL and all the DTP albums), I know there were a lot of people that were really excited as well.

But then, as we all know, circumstances prevented that from happening, and that was disappointing as the show was meant to be a pivotal moment in my creative career. But every roadblock is an opportunity for something different so we have come up with a plan to bring you the show in a way I believe will be kind of revolutionary and damned exciting. We have been working tirelessly to bring you a ‘virtual’ concert of the by request set, with musicians playing together, yet all in different parts of the world.

However, I wanted to do something different, not the 'Brady Bunch' type split screen visuals filmed on smartphones (they are cool, but also not really exciting in my opinion). Instead, we have opted to make a full production, filming ourselves separately, playing our instruments live, on greenscreens, with 8 cameras each (all at the same heights and distances for each of our remote shoots) and then combine these elements on a crazy virtual stage. It's ambitious, but I think the closest to a monster concert as can be achieved this summer. Considering everyone is scattered throughout the land yet not wanting to 'let the dream die' we have stumbled upon something rather amazing I think.

The players are Samus on drums, Wes Hauch on guitar, and Liam Wilson on bass... they have been going crazy learning the material, and we are putting it all together on September 5th, for the most ambitious live stream I think I've heard of thus far. We have been dealing with StageIt to avoid any hiccups, and it's poised to be rather awesome.

I will be live with it, and you, at this show, answering questions and talking to you throughout, to make it a totally interactive experience that acts not only as a cool way to spend a Saturday, but also as a potentially new way to do concerts entirely. The players I have hired have worked their butts off learning the material, and its going to be one of the coolest things Ive done in recent memory.

So please consider coming to this, StageIt has allowed the show to be the full 85 minutes, so it will be the full Bloodstock set. I can't actually believe we’re managing to pull off something like this, and theres a lot involved with it, but it's worth it to me. Its not just any quarantine concert; this one is a quantum leap of sound and visuals. I cant wait for you to see this, hopefully you’ll consider it."
