THE UNGUIDED To Release Father Shadow Album In October; "Crown Prince Syndrome" Music Video StreamingSwedish Melodic death metal formation, The Unguided, break down barriers with their upcoming long player, Father Shadow, to be released on October 9 via Napalm Records.
With their new full-length, these Nordic heavyweights prove that they can’t be pigeonholed. Eleven quick-tempered, high-voltage pieces indicate that The Unguided have liberated themselves from the shadows of the past but are still aware of their manifold roots. The intoxicating mixture of clean hooklines and classifying screams lead up to a unique symbiosis of pure harshness. “Crown Prince Syndrome” is the first offering off Father Shadow and showcases the unmistakable supremacy of the Swedish four piece.
Along with the first single, they are also introducing their new band lineup, since their former bass-player Henric Liljesand departed the band to concentrate on other projects. But nevertheless, The Unguided are more than ready to present their razor-sharp arrangement and hard-hitting sense for modern melodic death metal interlaced with core and electronic elements.
Richard Sjunnesson of The Unguided on the new single “Crown Prince Syndrome”: “The instrumental basics to 'Crown Prince Syndrome' was written already around 2018 but it was not until pre-production late 2019 when the words and the chorus melody came to place we recognized how undeniably catchy this tune was. Possibly our best chorus to date! It was fun to include some industrial elements in the electronic section and also that tasty riff stacking with some rock-vibe going on throughout the song which is a bit different from our previous work. The music video from legendary Patric Ullaeus show the band in a gritty outdoor environment to underline the industrial feel and you might just get a cameo from someone you know in it.”
Watch the video for “Crown Prince Syndrome” below, and pre-order Father Shadow here.
With Father Shadow, The Unguided - comprised of the brothers and founders from Sonic Syndicate - break down the barriers between melodic death metal, metalcore and fitting electronic sounds. Clean hooklines explode in classifying screams, leading up to a unique symbiosis of pure harshness. With brutal shouts, an unmistakably catchy chorus and a huge chunk of honest words, "Crown Prince Syndrome" unveils the burden of an innate identity. The perfect symbiosis of Richard Sjunnesson’s forceful vocal pitch and Jonathan Thorpenberg’s clean vocals convinces to the fullest extent. Tracks like the banger “Never Yield” and “War Of Oceans” pierce straight into your eardrums. Let yourself be drawn into the deep, dark underbelly of “Stand Alone Complex”, capturing your mind with ruthlessly harsh drums. “Gaia”, featuring Erik Engstrand, marks a new chapter in the era of The Unguided: harder, faster but always on point. With heavy handed cover versions of their own classic Sonic Syndicate tracks “Jailbreak”, “Denied” and “Jack Of Diamonds”, the four piece also thrives in reminiscence - and reveals a new musical entity. Follow The Unguided into the deep shadows of the past and the abyss of the future.
The Unguided on the new album: “We started to work on the follow up to And the Battle Royale by the end of 2018 after the tour was done. I think that particular album was a lot about figuring out the band’s new identity and writing together after boarding a new member and undeniably it was well received. Father Shadow is all about taking that experience, refining the process and push it to the next level. We have grown together solidly as a band and I think it shows a lot on this album. The songwriters in the band all comes from different schools and write a bit differently musically, on this album everyone got equal airtime just to pump the diversity without losing the feel of the band. Lyrically it pushes the story and concept forward and finally ties up some ends that have been loose since Fragile Immortality (2014), something I think the hardcore fans will appreciate. It was also fun to go back and revisit those old Sonic Syndicate tracks for the bonus material and I think we managed to do our own thing to honor the songs with a mint 2020 production. Utterly we created the songs and album we’d love to listen to ourselves and we succeeded with that and hope you’ll like it as much as we do!”

Avatarium recently released their new dark gospel, The Fire I Long For, via Nuclear Blast. Founded in 2012 by Leif Edling of Candlemass, Avatarium soon saw the arrival of Marcus Jidell (producer Candlemass) and Jennie-Ann Smith who brought an air of charisma with her soulful grace. By now, the band has become an entity of its own and while Leif still contributed three songs for the new album, the band’s current nucleus consists of Marcus and Jennie-Ann, who are accompanied on this record by organist Rickard Nilssonand new drummer Andreas ‘Habo’ Johansson (The Doomsday Kingdom). Together, this open-minded, yet doom-laden collective draws elements of folk, jazz and psychedelic brilliance into a grandiose amalgamation that manages to maintain an almost pop-like elegance.
Recorded at Studio DeepWell in Stockholm, the album was produced by Marcus Jidell, mixed by Grammy Award winner Niklas Flyckt and mastered by Svante Forsback (Rammstein).

SCORPIONS' 'Wind Of Change: The Iconic Song' Celebrates 30th Anniversary Of Iconic Power BalladAs one of the greatest hard rock bands of all time, SCORPIONS are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the first release of "Wind Of Change" by releasing an exclusive box set on October 3. "Wind Of Change: The Iconic Song" is dedicated exclusively to the power ballad written by Klaus Meine, which became the soundtrack for the end of the Cold War. Inspired by the experience of playing at the Moscow Music Peace Festival in 1989, "Wind Of Change" embodies the feeling of hope, optimism and the prospect of a better future.
Meine said: "When we came on stage in the Lenin Stadium and started the show with 'Blackout', all the Red Army soldiers, who function as security, threw their hats and jackets in the air, turned to us and became part of the crowd. The world was changing right in front of our eyes ... It was unbelievable."
The box set, which appears in a brick look, contains an 84-page hardcover book written by Dr. Edgar Klüsener, former editor-in-chief of Metal Hammer and close confidant of the band, who interviewed Meine exclusively for this purpose and writes about the genesis and impact of the song. It contains several pages of photographs from the band's photographer Didi Zill and from Meine's private archive, as well as the handwritten lyrics for "Wind Of Change" by Meine.
Next to the book, the box set includes a vocal and piano arrangement of "Wind Of Change" as well as a CD and 12" LP with five versions of the song: the original album version, the Berlin Philharmonic version, the Russian and Spanish and an unreleased demo version by Meine. Heart and centerpiece of the box set is a handcrafted unique piece of the Berlin Wall customized with the red "Wind Of Change" star and a handwritten lyric by Meine.
People not just in Europe but all over the world felt connected to the motif of change and the melancholy of the song. With the collapse of the Soviet Union, the hunger for freedom and community was great. The sudden vacuum in Europe left a lot of room for dreams and hopes. "Wind Of Change" captured this indescribable magical mood and became the anthem to the fall of the Berlin Wall. The song continues to influence and is still meaningful now more than ever.
Meine said: "In times of COVID-19 and all the wild conspiracy theories in these extremely trying times, 'Wind of Change' is like a hug, a good friend from a time when the hope for a peaceful world seemed to be fulfilled. The dream of peace lives on in this song."
On August 13, 2020, on the same day that the Berlin Wall was built in 1961 and the Moscow Music Peace Festival took place in 1989, the pre-order of the box starts only on www.TheIconicSong.com.
"The Iconic Song" box is hand-numbered, limited to 2020 copies and will be released on the day of the 30th anniversary of German unity, October 3, 2020.

LINDSAY SCHOOLCRAFT Performs Harp Version Of "Stranger" During Facebook Live Chat (Video)Former Cradle Of Filth backing vocalist / keyboardist Lindsay Schoolcraft has launched the pre-order for her new harp album, Worlds Away. It is now available here.
On August 11th, Lindsay held a spontaneous live Facebook chat and performed the harp rendition of "Stranger" which ies featured on the record. Th eoriginal version appears on her debut solo album, Martyr. Check it out below.
Though coronavirus has forced us indoors, music still flows. In the case of Canadian multi-instrumentalist Lindsay Schoolcraft, she chose to look back on her gothic metal past and reimagine it in an entirely new light. She has lent her talents to an astounding variety of bands, ranging from Cradle of Filth’s extreme metal to Mary and the Black Lamb’s alt-rock, as well as leading her own project. Last year she released her début solo album, Martyr, which received a Juno nomination in the category of Heavy/Hard Sound Album of the Year.
This year’s project, however, is a different entity. Lindsay has made no secret of her love of playing electric harp, which she has combined with string arrangements for a completely different take on her discography. The result -Worlds Away. Here, she reunites with collaborator Rocky Gray (original drummer of Evanescence, who co-wrote Martyr). His subtle electronic beats add a cinematic tone, such as on “Stranger”, or thundering on album closer "Warn Me". The lilting harp and strings, meanwhile, concoct a fantasy soundtrack atmosphere akin to Loreena McKennitt or Sarah Brightman. Each instrument vies for attention, creating various moods: "Where I Fall" is a strings-driven dark-pop ballad, whereas the harp-tinkling "Masquerade" indulges in musical theater.
Most of the tracks draw from her previous works, but there are two unfamiliar faces. The title track opens the album with Lindsay’s breathy vocals accompanied by her harp. Her singing is a highlight of this record, especially when ascending into the upper echelons during stunning choruses such as on "Fading Star". Many critics have compared her emotive voice to the likes of Sharon den Adel or Amy Lee. The other, "Dance On The Strings", signifies the final completion of a song that had been sitting in her lyric book for over a decade. It deals with toxic manipulation, and the dark strings in the song feel analogous to the strings the narrator can see are controlling the victim.
This record may be worlds away from what you know of Lindsay Schoolcraft, but that works to its credit. The songs sound vibrant, and it is impressive that without listening to the original versions, one would never be able to tell these were re-workings.Worlds Away is simply beautiful and calming, and an excellent way to unwind in these challenging times, while appreciating the talent that has gone into it.
The tracklist is as follows:
"Worlds Away"
"Saviour"
"Darkness-Falls"
"Fading Star"
"Stranger"
"Where I Fall"
"Dance On The Strings"
"Dangerous Game"
"Your Mind"
"Masquerade"
"Warn Me"

LIFE OF AGONY Bassist ALAN ROBERT Announces New The Beauty Of Horror Coloring Book, Tarot Cards, And JournalThe COVID-19 crisis has been extremely stressful for millions of people around the world. As a result, hands-on hobbies like coloring and crafting have surged in popularity. These relaxing alternatives to screen-heavy entertainment provide a creative outlet for those looking to unplug and unwind, as well as for the creators themselves.
Bestselling horror aficionado (and Life Of Agony bassist) Alan Robert has been using his downtime during the pandemic to create new Beauty of Horror coloring and activity books that are guaranteed to appeal to fans of horror and the paranormal.
“Before COVID-19 hit, I was booked for the rest of the year touring with my band Life of Agony,” explained Alan Robert. “But once large gathering restrictions went into effect and concerts were postponed until 2021, I found myself with a lot of unexpected time on my hands. I began drawing every day and it really gave me a sense of purpose and something to focus on. Ironically, drawing all of these horrifying images distracted me from the real horrors going on outside my door.”
“Since the first Beauty of Horror coloring book release in 2016, Alan Robert has tapped into a unique activity space, where a highly engaged fandom eagerly awaits each new entry in the line. We know this range of new products, each a testament to the blood-curling charm of the brand, will send fans to their tables and desks — pencils at the ready! — to dive into more deliciously dark activities,” says IDW's Justin Eisinger.
New releases due this fall include: The Beauty of Horror 4: Creature Feature Coloring Book which pays homage to iconic horror movies with over 80 pages to color, The Beauty of Horror Tarot Card Decks, as featured on SyFy’s Metal Crush Monday (skip to 11:15 for an exclusive look and The Beauty of Horror: Haunt This Journal.
As Variety mentioned recently, The Beauty of Horror universe is set to expand in a big way with an animated series in development from Arrival and Bird Box scribe Eric Heisserer (under his Chronology banner), Rooster Teeth Studios (Transformers: War for Cybertron), and creator Alan Robert.

PAIN OF SALVATION – “Restless Boy” Drum Playthrough Video StreamingPain Of Salvation has issued a new drum playthrough video of their recently released single “Restless Boy.”
Drummer Léo Margarit comments: “‘Restless Boy’ was one of these tracks where we really wanted to have a loop/programmed drums feeling. We wanted super dry drum sounds for the verses in contrast with the ‘choruses’ (if we can call them that…) where the sound should be big, open and in your face, kind of ugly/nice, if you know that I mean. So in the studio we ended up recording verses and choruses separately, rebuilding the drum set in between. For that playthrough I decided to try to combine the two different sounds in one kit and this is what I came up with. The dry sound set consists in a Sonor Designer 20 inch bass drum, three toms from the same drums (14/15/16), all very muffled with fabric, and an ASBA Revelation snare drum, also muffled. The ‘ringing’ set is a Drumcraft Series 8 24 inch bass drum and a Sonor Designer piccolo snare drum (14X4).”
Sweden’s Pain Of Salvation move another step closer to the release of their upcoming new studio album, Panther, due out August 28th, 2020 worldwide via InsideOutMusic. Today, the progressive metal / rock innovators launch their new single "Restless Boy", to be checked out in stunning video scripted/directing by Lars Ardarve and Daniel Gildenlöw and filmed/edited by Lars Ardarve.
Daniel Gildenlöw commented about the song and video:
"We are happy and proud to present to you our newest video, for the song 'Restless Boy', our second single from the upcoming album, Panther. Once again, we have worked together with the wonderful and skilful Lars Ardarve, and we had a great time, as always. It’s so rewarding to work together with someone who you know so well since way back and with whom you share a similar mindset and creative drive, and we are all so happy with the result.
Since the video also includes a stage setup, we got to hook up with our amazing crew for the first time in way too long, so it was in many ways the closest we have come to touring this year. Just as with the 'Accelerator' video, we shot parts of this video in Skjulstahallen (Eskilstuna), and want to send lots of love and kudos to Lotta Nilsson at IKEG for helping us to arrange this!
'Restless Boy' may not be the most expected or given second single, but it felt important to give it that space, because of all that it is. And despite it’s few components, it is a grower. Live with it for a while and you’ll see. Also, it was a song for which a video idea just came to me so naturally. A video where every scene would be a play with time and speed. Experienced time versus reality. That feeling that has been with me through my entire life – that time is emotionally flexible and suddenly just bends around your mind and thoughts.
You see, 'Restless Boy', is about myself and everyone else out there who feel that we are going through life at a different speed than our contexts and surroundings. Passion oriented people who daydream and shift pace depending on situation. F1 cars failing to meet the expectations of our small suburban community. Goal rationalists in a method rationalistic system. Panthers in a dog’s world.
This song grew out of the song ‘Full Throttle Tribe’, just like the entire Panther album did in many ways. The tribe that fills every page of every history book that you have ever read. The spectrum people. The brilliant, the crazy, the fools, the gifted and the troubled. The beautiful restless boys and girls!
The filming was intense and a lot of fun. Long hours and very little sleep. I specifically remember the second day of filming, when we shot all the scenes in the car with Léo driving. I had edited a version of the song that went to half speed between every vocal phrase, so that we could speed up the video between phrases. I heard that odd version of the song so many times that it increasingly started to feel like the normal version. (Lars actually got very hooked on that version, so I might have to make him a special mix.) Anyway, after a long day of sitting in the car and singing while we passed by the different scenes we had set up with Sandrian and Gabriel in dog masks outside the car window (they likely did not feel all that comfortable standing in dog masks in central Eskilstuna, holding an umbrella, but they were troopers), we needed some city night shots, so we headed for Stockholm. I still wonder what that one pedestrian was thinking, looking into our car as we stopped at a red-light well past midnight and I was throwing myself back and forth in the backseat wearing a german shepherd rubber mask that I was apparently trying to get off. Whatever he was thinking, he is probably still thinking it. That’s simply not one of those images you can get off your retinas easily. :)
We really hope you like this video – we do, and we are very proud of it. We can’t wait for the world to ease back into something close enough to normality for touring to be possible again. Meanwhile, find comfort in these videos/singles and the upcoming album, and know that due to the lack of touring, a silver lining is that we can keep writing and recording even more new music for you all. Until we meet the next time!"
Firmly at the forefront of the progressive rock and metal scenes for nearly three decades now and one of modern rock’s most acclaimed live acts, Sweden’s Pain Of Salvation return with a new studio album, entitled Panther, due out August 28 worldwide via InsideOutMusic.
A first single and video (directed by Lars Ardarve) is being debuted today. Check out the clip for the album’s opening track “Accelerator” below.
Daniel Gildenlöw checked in with the following comment about the song/video: "It has been brilliant to work with Lars for a video, after all these years of photographing. We think alike and always have a blast when we work together. We had three very long days of shooting it, only Lars and us in the band in Skjulstahallen, a large gymnastics hall kindly provided by IKEG. As per usual, I found myself in weird situations, like making high flips and jumps over Lars' head. We are very happy with this video and think it's the perfect kickoff for the Panther album."
Panther, the follow-up release to 2017’s In The Passing Light Of Day album, was recorded, mixed and produced by Daniel Gildenlöw with Daniel Bergstrand (In Flames, Meshuggah, Devin Townsend) and comes with a comprehensive artwork-theme with illustrations made by André Meister.
Daniel Gildenlöw: "The making of Panther has taken over 2 years. I have felt the need to push boundaries, both musically and sonically. Approaching the music from more diverse angles, yet without losing the core identity of the band. Lyrically it coincidently fits more than ever into current times. When I look at the great artwork drawings that went into the concept, I can only say that I am extremely happy how everything turned out. I can't wait to share this album with everybody."
Next to the standard CD and the digital album formats, Panther will also be available as limited 2CD Mediabook (Including expanded artwork and the following 4 bonus tracks on a separate disc: "Panther" (demo), “Keen To A Fault" (demo)”, “Fifi Gruffi” and “Unforever”, and as 180g. Guitarist Pete Haworth From NWOBHM Band LEGEND PassesJersey (the largest of the Channel Islands, between England and France) NWOBHM band Legend have announced the passing of guitarist Pete Haworth.
His brother Neil and fellow Legend guitarist states: “It is with a broken heart that I have to tell you all that my best friend, mentor and brother Pete passed away this morning - the whole family is devastated at our loss and he will be sorely missed not only by his close Jersey friends but the hundreds of friends and fans he has made from the music he created over the past four decades. RIP Pete.”
According to their Facebook Public Group page, Legend had three absolute killer early ‘80s releases (Legend, Death In The Nursery and Frontline) and a fourth album in 2003 (Still Screaming) return once again with a brand new album for 2013, The Dark Place. And, once again, they knock it out of the ballpark with their own unique heavy metal sound combining the melodic vocals of Mike Lezala and the monster riffs and playing of (the late) Pete Haworth. With Neil Haworth on guitar, Eggy Aubert on bass and Jack Pallot on drums.”

"Hybrid Theory" — the band's original name before it was changed to LINKIN PARK for legal reasons — was issued in October 2000 and was a breakout success for the group, which had formed in 1996 and had played the Los Angeles club scene for several years. The album yielded four massive hit singles — "One Step Closer", "Crawling", "Papercut" and "In The End" — while going on to sell more than 10 million copies in the U.S. alone.
LINKIN PARK singer Chester Bennington and Shinoda spoke to The Pulse Of Radio a while back about some of the challenges of making their debut album.
"We walked into every song with a fresh, you know, outlook on it and we focused equal amounts of energy on every song," Bennington said. "And that at times was quite interesting, and also difficult at the same time. So we really learned how to push ourselves to new levels, and that was an accomplishment."
"Our biggest obstacle was putting something together that we felt was strong from beginning to end and doing our best to give each song its proper attention," Shinoda added.
Bennington was found dead in his Los Angeles-area home on July 20, 2017 after hanging himself. LINKIN PARK headlined an all-star tribute concert for Bennington in October 2017 in Los Angeles but has not announced any future plans for recording or touring. 8

HAMMERFALL to Release 'Live! Against The World' Album In OctoberSwedish metallers HAMMERFALL will release a new live album, "Live! Against The World", on October 23 via Napalm Records.
With an absolutely impressive, grand live production, huge arenas and overwhelming pyro shows, HAMMERFALL took over the world in 2019/2020 with its "World Dominion" tour. Now, they make their splendor available to every Templar around the globe. Recorded on February 15 at the MHP Arena in Ludwigsburg, Germany, "Live! Against The World" contains songs fresh off HAMMERFALL's latest album, "Dominion", mixed with a ton of band classics and a hand-picked selection of songs that rarely appear on HAMMERFALL's setlists to fulfill the needs of both new and old fans.
HAMMERFALL did not only celebrate the great chart success of "Dominion", but also the 20th anniversary of its "Renegade" album with a phenomenal medley during the nearly two-hour-long concert. The show had everyone on their feet and banging their heads within no time and marks one of the many unforgettable evenings of pure Swedish heavy metal in the legendary HAMMERFALL manner.
Singer Joacim Cans comments: "I am so damn proud that we are able to present a full blown, up-to-date, live show in these extremely difficult times. A time when real live shows in front of a 'real' live audience have ceased to exist.
"The show at MHP Arena Ludwigsburg was nothing but epic and really captured the strength and power of the band as a live act and shows the joy we are experiencing together on stage every night, no matter where we play. This is the biggest stage production we ever had and now you can experience this at home anywhere, at any time.
"HAMMERFALL is and always will be a live band and together with the greatest fans in the world we are an unstoppable force!”
Guitarist Oscar Dronjak adds: "The live act that HAMMERFALL is right now blows everything we have done previously out of the water, and I am super happy that we got to document it in this way on the biggest tour we have ever done.
"The setlist speaks for itself — every album is represented with at least one song; there's stuff we have never performed live before, songs we haven't played in a long time and of course all the classics. It's a great testament to where we stand today, and an added bonus is that we finally got to record something major in Germany, in front of the fans who have been with us literally since day one."
"Live! Against The World" starts off with the smashing song and first single "Never Forgive, Never Forget", fresh from "Dominion". The Swedish heavy metal institution presents itself in top shape and starts the show in Ludwigsburg, Germany with a big bang — they take the screaming templars by storm. This absolutely impressively produced live version of one of their biggest new hits marked one of the highlights of the legendary show at the MHP Arena. Adding in classics like "Any Means Necessary", "Last Man Standing" and "Let The Hammer Fall" that show off HAMMERFALL's legendary prowess on both vocals and instruments, the performance continues on to be both surprising and astounding. Special guest Noora Louhimo (BATTLE BEAST) made it possible for HAMMERFALL to display their emotional side with their power ballad "Second To One" live on stage. The show ends with the one song that belongs in every HAMMERFALL experience: the beautiful and heavy "Hearts On Fire".
"Live! Against The World" will be available in the following formats:

ANTHRAX Drummer Looks Back On 'Married With Children' Appearance In Episode Four Of 'Persistence Of Time' Video SeriesANTHRAX invites you to get the inside story behind the making and promotion of the band's fifth album, "Persistence Of Time", and its 30th-anniversary Deluxe Edition. This six-part video series is hosted by drummer Charlie Benante, who assembled and oversaw the anniversary edition. Throughout the series, he shines light on where the band was at during the writing and recording of the album, the album's songwriting process, collaborating with PUBLIC ENEMY for "Bring The Noise" track and subsequent tour, the "No Prayer On The Road" tour with IRON MAIDEN and the "Clash Of The Titans" tour with SLAYER and MEGADETH, why the album's cover art was revised for the Deluxe Edition, the week spent filming an episode of the popular TV series "Married With Children", and more. The clips also feature band members' personal photos and film/video clips from the period.
Check out episode four, "Married With Children", below.
A huge standout on the "Persistence Of Time" cycle was when the band was asked to co-star on an episode of the groundbreaking TV sitcom "Married With Children", a show that happened to be a favorite of all the ANTHRAX members. The episode was titled "My Dinner With Anthrax", and the band spent a week with the Bundy family at the iconic Sunset-Gower Studios in the heart of Hollywood, learning their lines, rehearsing and shooting the episode — and getting into a little hot water with the show's producers when they took "Bud Bundy" (David Faustino) to see METALLICA.
The "Persistence Of Time" 30th-anniversary Deluxe Edition is due on August 21 via Megaforce Records. Produced by ANTHRAX and Mark Dodson. it will be available exclusively on disc and vinyl. The CD package will include two CDs and one DVD, the vinyl edition offers four LPs, as well as revised cover art that reflects what had been the album's original visual concept.
Disc One is comprised of the 11-track album, fully-remastered by Paul Logus (who mastered ANTHRAX's "Worship Music" and "For All Kings", the "Anthems" EP, and the DVDs "Kings Among Scotland" and "Chile On Hell"). Disc One also features a special "bonus B-side" version of "I'm The Man" from 1990 that leans more hip-hop than rock, and a live version of "Time" that was recorded at Michigan's Palace of Auburn Hills in 1991. The final two songs on Disc One, as well as all nine tracks on Disc Two, are special recordings from "Charlie's Stash," an incomparable wealth of ANTHRAX music from the band's rehearsals, writing sessions, preproduction, and live performances that Benante has recorded over the past 40 years and has been kept safely filed away. These recordings will put listeners "in the room" with the band, privy to the evolution of the songs on "Persistence Of Time", starting with Benante's original riffs and demos for the songs, moving on to Frank Bello, Scott Ian, Joey Belladonna, Dan Spitz and Benante shaping the songs in rehearsal, then into preproduction, and finally into the recording studio.
Said Benante: "You'll hear parts of songs that never made it to the final recording or songs with an arrangement different from the finished song."
The 40-minute "guerilla-style" DVD was shot when ANTHRAX was on tour with IRON MAIDEN in 1991 and features live footage of Benante taking over the drums for IRON MAIDEN's Nicko McBrain, as well as backstage and dressing room footage with members of both bands. The piece wraps with Benante, Bello, and Ian joining IRON MAIDEN on stage for the final song of the night, "Sanctuary".
With revealing liner notes written by Scott Ian that pull back the curtain on some of the incidents that fueled the album's lyrical content, the artwork showcases a selection of mementos from the "Persistence Of Time" cycle: script pages from the band's 1992 "My Dinner With Anthrax" episode of the TV sitcom "Married With Children", band photos and magazine covers, backstage passes, and an assortment of vintage promo items. Also, the deluxe package's cover art has been revised.
Explained Benante, who also oversees all of ANTHRAX's artwork: "We had been a band for only about five years, but so much had been and continued to be crammed into those few years, and we realized we couldn't stop time, it was just persistent. Simultaneously, I was at the height of my Salvador Dali phase, I was just absorbed in his art, and I wanted to tie the two together — Salvador Dali and time. I loved what [artist] Don Brautigam did with the original cover, but for this deluxe edition, I wanted it the way I had originally seen the cover in my head — with the clock melting, so that's what we did."
"Recording the vocals for this album was a great experience," said vocalist Joey Belladonna. "I really liked working with Steve Thompson and Mark Barbiero. Everything came together nicely. We all became good friends. And it was great to work in Manhattan again, especially at Electric Lady Studios. That place has such an aura, recording in the same place where Jimi Hendrix, THE ROLLING STONES, David Bowie and LED ZEPPELIN did. It was a really cool experience."
"One of the things I'll never forget from the 'Persistence Of Time' tours," added Frank Bello, "was when we played the songs 'Time' and 'Got The Time' live. We had this big clock on our stage, the 'Persistence Of Time' clock, and the hands on this clock went around and around while we played the songs 'Time' and 'Got The Time'. Today, something like that would be motorized, but back in 1990, it had to be done manually using a hand crank on the back of the clock. My bass tech from that time, Troy, it was his job to keep those hands turning during those two songs, throughout the entire songs. I mean, what a workout that guy got from turning that crank."
"It was a weird time for us for a number of reasons," added Benante, "but at the same time, a lot of great things happened. We did 'Married With Children', we toured with SLAYER and MEGADETH on the 'Clash Of The Titans' tour, and we recorded 'Bring The Noise' with PUBLIC ENEMY, and that turned everything around."

DOWN To Celebrate 25th Anniversary Of 'NOLA' With Full-Length Exclusive Livestream On August 29This year marks the 25th anniversary of DOWN's 1995-released, now classic debut, "NOLA". Plans for select shows featuring vocalist Philip Anselmo, guitarists Pepper Keenan and Kirk Windstein, drummer Jimmy Bower and bassist Pat Bruders performing the record in its entirety were sidelined due to the global pandemic. In its wake, the band is pleased to announce an exclusive livestream later this month.
Fittingly dubbed "The Quarter Century Throwdown", the high-production, multi-camera event will take place August 29 at 6:00 p.m. EST using cutting-edge streaming technology to create a one-of-a-kind virtual concert experience. The show will be rebroadcast August 30 at 6:00 p.m. EST until September 1 at 6:00 p.m. EST.
Comments the band: "DOWN was a simple band started by friends with a love of heavy music and the songs on the 'NOLA' album were magic from the first rehearsal. We're extremely grateful to be celebrating the 'NOLA' record with a live stream that the world can see. Watch the show and plug in through your loudest stereo! We love y'all!"
Your virtual ticket livestream tickets and packages are available at this location, with additional merch designs available here.
10% of ticket sales will be donated to the United Houma Nation (UHN), a state-recognized tribe of approximately 17,000 members residing within a six-parish (county) service area encompassing 4,570 square miles. The six parishes — Terrebonne, Lafourche, Jefferson, St. Mary, St. Bernard, and Plaquemines — are located along the Southeastern coast of Louisiana. Within this area, distinct tribal communities are situated among the interwoven bayous and canals where Houmas traditionally earned a living. Although by land and road these communities are distant, they were historically very close by water. However, boat travel is no longer a viable option due to the effects of coastal erosion, which has left these waterways either nonexistent or impassable and, in many cases, completely open water that requires larger vessels for safe travel. The tribe today is presented with the unique challenges of preserving and maintaining its culture and way of life when the land is disappearing. The United Houma Nation is committed and dedicated to doing exactly that. In addition, 10% of proceeds raised from a special, limited DOWN/United Houma Nation t-shirt will also be donated to the UHN.
A founding member of DOWN, Windstein left the band in 2013 in order to focus on CROWBAR and his family life. He was replaced by Bobby Landgraf, DOWN's former guitar tech who was previously in GAHDZILLA MOTOR COMPANY, a 1990s outfit also featuring Jason McMaster (DANGEROUS TOYS, WATCHTOWER), and HONKY.
Windstein announced his return to DOWN last year, with the band confirming a number of festival appearances for 2020 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of DOWN's debut album, "NOLA", all of which have since been canceled or postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic which is sweeping the globe.
Asked if DOWN has started work on new material, Kirk told Revolver: "There's actually been no talk of that. The main thing was trying to do the European festivals and Psycho Las Vegas [in Las Vegas]. Psycho Las Vegas was pushed back a year, and, obviously, the European festivals were all canceled. So I have no idea what's in the future. We're working on something really special here in the next few months that I'm excited about, and that's all I can really say. I'm super excited to get together with all the guys again."
DOWN was forced to cancel a number of shows in 2016 after Anselmo was filmed giving a Nazi salute and shouting "white power" at a California concert.
Keenan later offered his take on what transpired, telling Metal Wani that DOWN was "far from done" after the controversial incident. "You know, DOWN didn't do anything wrong," he said. "I mean, we were just guilty by association on that one. That was Phil's mistake. I've spoken to Phil and told him to get his shit together, and he is. He knows he made a mistake and was being stupid."
He continued: "I've known the guy [most of my life]. He's not what that whole thing framed him to be at all. But, yeah, there's definitely a future for DOWN. I wouldn't throw all the shit we've done, beautiful music we've done on one stupid moment that was caught on camera, and he apologized for. [So we are] far from done."
DOWN's last live appearance took place in August 2016 at the Psycho Las Vegas festival in Las Vegas.

THE OBSESSED To Mark 40th Anniversary With Rough And Raw Live RecordingFollowing closely behind doom godfather Wino's souful new solo album, THE OBSESSED's 40th anniversary year yields another slab for fans and devotees in the form of a rough and raw live recording of an early show at the lost-to-history Maryland club Big Dipper.
Officially forming in 1980 and building a bridge between metalheads and punks, THE OBSESSED gigged heavily in the Baltimore and D.C. area. Finding their footing amid some early member shuffling, the band's crunchy, sludgy, dissonant yet hooky American doom coalesced with the lineup of drummer Dave "The Slave" Flood and bassist Mark "Professor Dark" Laue, along with singer/guitarist Scott "Wino" Weinrich.
"Live At Big Dipper" presents the trio at their early '80s peak, burning hot from sharing stages with IRON CROSS, DEAD BOYS, SCREAM, THE EXPLOITED, BLUE CHEER and DEATH ROW, not to mention a near-miss supporting MOTÖRHEAD.
The audio is borderline unlistenable, as if captured on a walkman shoved down the front of a sweaty hesher's pants, then deteriorating in a dank Beltsville basement for 35 years.
Even so, the 1983 performance is pure magic, capturing a hungry young band conjuring forth a sound and style they couldn't know would endure for decades, and inspiring the likes of Dave Grohl, Pepper Keenan, Ian MacKaye, Henry Rollins, Philip Anselmo, and thousands more.
The release also features a handful of recently uncovered demos from the early days, shedding light on the development of songs that would go on to become staples of THE OBSESSED and Wino's subsequent band SPIRIT CARAVAN.
Says Wino: "This show at the Big Dipper was one of the last, if not the last, show of the OG OBSESSED lineup, and it's my favorite by far. It's raw and noisy and took some cleanin' up, but here it is. If it ain't heavy, it ain't shit!!!"
Keenan said: "Wino's music has always been so serious, that's the only thing he knows, and he's gonna do it whether or not he makes a million dollars or ten bucks... He means it."
Anselmo said: "Wino, what a fucking guitar player, and one of my favorite singers, nothing to prove."
THE OBSESSED "Live At Big Dipper" arrives August 21 via Blues Funeral Recordings.

Rockers React To KAMALA HARRIS Being Announced As JOE BIDEN's Running Mate: 'Let's Do This'Sebastian Bach (SKID ROW), Mike Portnoy (DREAM THEATER, SONS OF APOLLO), Alex Skolnick (TESTAMENT) and Axl Rose (GUNS N' ROSES) are among the rockers who have reacted to Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden's announcement that California senator Kamala Harris will be his running mate in the 2020 presidential election.
"I think @KamalaHarris is the perfect running mate!" Portnoy tweeted. "She really strengthens the bill and will help strengthen some of Biden's weaknesses that some people have concerns over...This is probably the most important election in US history, so get out and VOTE!"
The former DREAM THEATER drummer added in separate tweet: "I know political posts usually sparks heated debates and can sometimes even result in losing some fans, but I've recently decided to no longer silence my disdain for Trump as I find him a truly despicable human being. Just my opinion. Keep the comments here CIVIL & respectful"
Bach was equally enthusiastic about Biden's choice, tweeting: "Congratulations to @KamalaHarris on your big day! Congrats to the USA for a [light] at the end of an endless tunnel! VP Harris we are depending on you to #MakeMusicExistAgain ! #MakeSchoolExistAgain ! Skolnick wrote: "BOOM #BidenHarris2020 it is. The RIGHT call for way too many reasons to get into. Haters/Contratians please take the day off. We don't have time and want to appreciate this moment. Let's do this"
Rose, who has been very vocal in his distaste for President Donald Trump, seemed to be less impressed with Biden's selection, simply tweeting out a YouTube link to the Roger Daltrey song "Say It Ain't So Joe".
On Tuesday, Biden said in an e-mail to supporters, "I've decided that Kamala Harris is the best person to help me take this fight to Donald Trump and Mike Pence and then to lead this nation starting in January 2021.
"I need someone who understands the pain that so many people in our nation are suffering," he continued. "Whether they've lost their job, their business, a loved one to this virus. This president says he 'doesn't want to be distracted by it'. He doesn't understand that taking care of the people of this nation — all the people — isn't a distraction — it's the job. Kamala understands that."
Harris tweeted: "@JoeBiden can unify the American people because he's spent his life fighting for us. And as president, he'll build an America that lives up to our ideals. I'm honored to join him as our party's nominee for Vice President, and do what it takes to make him our Commander-in-Chief."

I’m kinda ambivalent on the Kamala Harris VP selection. She seems to be a triangulation of ever checked box they would kind of want - women of color, establishment enough, some experience but not enough to have a laundry list of things to attack. Most important, she’s charismatic
— Doc Coyle (@DocCoyle) August 11, 2020
Experience, policy, rhetoric, identity all take a backseat to basic charisma. I would have preferred Susan Rice, but her bookish, measured style has a very Al Gore vibe. Personality usually wins. And whomever is VP will have to run in 4 years if Biden wins.
— Doc Coyle (@DocCoyle) August 11, 2020
Kinda weird Ben Shapiro said she was radical far left. I thought the radical far left thinks Harris is a fed. Maybe I’m ill-informed. It’s a safe but interesting pick. The stage is set. pic.twitter.com/yyGVVg8Oxs

Canada’s ENTROPY – Force Convergence Out August 28thCanadian legends Entropy first hit the metal scene in the late 80s and 30 years later they are still melting faces, this time with “Force Convergence”.
This will be the fourth album from the band, and they describe it as their best album yet and it's a cinematic type experience. Entropy shares the premise being the concept album:
“We wanted to bring metal fans a sci-fi horror experience with the album story. The lyrical inspiration is from bands like Rush, Queensryche, Voivod, Iron Maiden, and also from films like Aliens, Predator, War Of The World’s, Independence Day, Invasion Of The Body Snatchers. There is also a sprinkle of war scene themes throughout the story, like Apocalypse Now, Platoon, and Starship Troopers, mixed in for fun.”
The story-driven, progressive thrash metal album has been getting excellent reviews from the people who have had a chance to listen to it early, this is the album that everyone wants!
So far, all the Entropy albums have a different feel to them, and this new one is also forging its own path. "Force Convergence" is a 30-minute metal rip-ride! It is a creative and fun album that flows with power, melody, aggressiveness, and meaning.
With an original and eclectic sound that is 30 years in the making, Entropy is suitable for all metalheads especially those who enjoy Slayer, Pantera, and Iron Maiden.
Force Convergence is due out August 28th and will be available on EntropyMetal.com (CD), Spotify, Apple Music.

MR. BUNGLE To Release 'The Raging Wrath Of The Easter Bunny Demo' In OctoberMR. BUNGLE will release "The Raging Wrath Of The Easter Bunny Demo" on October 30 via Ipecac Recordings.
As was the case with MR. BUNGLE's live performances this past February, original MR. BUNGLE members Trevor Dunn, Mike Patton and Trey Spruance are joined by Scott Ian (ANTHRAX, S.O.D.) and Dave Lombardo (DEAD CROSS, SLAYER, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES).
The 11-song release features tracks written by the Eureka, California-born band for their 1986 cassette only demo as well as a reimagined cover of the S.O.D. classic "Hypocrites / Habla Español O Muere" (a.k.a. "Speak English Or Die") and CORROSION OF CONFORMITY's "Loss For Words".
A video for "Raping Your Mind" is available below.
The album was produced by MR. BUNGLE, recorded by Husky Höskulds at Studio 606, and mixed by Jay Ruston. Rhea Perlman narrates "Anarchy Up Your Anus".
"Recording this music with these guys was an enormous head-rush of virtuosity and surprises every day in the studio," explains Patton. "Trey's video game-esque solos, Scott's bionic right hand and cyborg-like precision, Dave's caveman-meets-Bobby Brady-like drum fills, Trevor's solid foundation and laser-focus to detail. There is nothing sweeter than getting your ass kicked by true comrades…where everyone has a singular drive and mission."
Dunn adds: "Recording this record felt like we were finally utilizing our Ph.Ds in thrash metal. All we had to do was go back to our original professors for some additional guidance and talk them into joining us. Turns out we were A+ students. We even went for extra credit by revisiting some tunes that we'd given up on back in the day. It was less like a trip of nostalgia and more like the refining of an original, worthy document. We were haunted for 35 years by the fact that this music wasn't given it's due respect. Now we can die."
"The Raging Wrath Of The Easter Bunny Demo" track listing:
01. Grizzly Adams
02. Anarchy Up Your Anus
03. Raping Your Mind
04. Hypocrites / Habla Español O Muere
05. Bungle Grind
06. Methematics
07. Eracist
08. Spreading The Thighs Of Death
09. Loss For Words
10. Glutton For Punishment
11. Sudden Death
MR. BUNGLE was formed in an impoverished lumber and fishing town by a trio of curious, volatile teenagers. Trey Spruance, Mike Patton and Trevor Dunn beget the amorphous "band" in 1985 up in Humboldt County, California, sifting through a variety of members until around 1989 when they settled on a lineup that managed to get signed to Warner Bros. Records. No one really knows how this happened and it remains a complete mystery that even the algorithms of the internet can't decode. Up until 2000, they released three albums ("Mr. Bungle" in 1991, "Disco Volante" in 1995 and "California" in 1999), toured a good portion of the Western hemisphere and avoided any sort of critical acclaim. Some argue that the band subsequently broke up but there is also no proof of this. What is true is that they took 20 years off from performing under said moniker while they pursued various other musics that, in contrast, paid the rent.

DEVILDRIVER Unveils Music Video For New Single 'Nest Of Vipers'Californian dark groove metallers DEVILDRIVER recently announced their upcoming double album, "Dealing With Demons". The first volume — titled "Dealing With Demons I" — drops on October 9 via Napalm Records and marks the band's first release of new, original material since 2016’s acclaimed "Trust No One". Representing the onset of a final purging of the themes that have long possessed frontman Dez Fafara and DEVILDRIVER's music, each track on "Dealing With Demons I" illustrates a different demon to be dealt with or released.
Today, DEVILDRIVER is following up on the release of the single/video "Keep Away From Me" and the haunting single/video "Iona" with a third single — the fast-paced burner "Nest Of Vipers". Harking back to the heavy, melodic, dark groove that DEVILDRIVER patented at their start while remaining entirely modern and fresh, "Nest Of Vipers" winds its way into the listener's psyche with metallic chugging and southern-fried leads, gritty, grooving riffs and a heightened dose of amplified energy and intensity. Co-written by Fafara and guitarist Neal Tiemann, the lyrics to "Nest Of Vipers" explore themes of true loyalty and the notion that friendship is not a commodity for sale.
Fafara says about "Nest Of Vipers": "This is my first co-written lyric on any DEVILDRIVER track with another band member, penned with our guitarist Neal Tiemann. Working with Neal is a good time. We always want what's best for the song. Lyrically, the chorus says it all — 'the king's sworn men make perfect liars.' This is the cold, hard truth, as people's loyalties are often bought and sold. The lyric 'she sleeps with bones beside her' refers to another theme touched upon in this track — a woman laying in misery next to her 'bones' of contention, harboring guilt as her loyalties are also bought and sold… It's all a sad state of affairs once you get into that bought and sold mentality, whether it's with your work or friendships."
The official music video for "Nest Of Vipers" — directed by Vicente Cordero of Industrialism Films — hypnotizes the viewer with cryptic, spellbinding imagery. Our subject agrees to have his tarot cards read, but is he about to experience more than he bargained for?
"Dealing With Demons I" showcases the supreme form of the band — Dez, guitarists Mike Spreitzer and Tiemann, drummer Austin D'Amond and bassist Diego Ibarra. This isn't just some of the most vicious DEVILDRIVER material to date, but some of their most lethally memorable too. Co-produced by Steve Evetts and Spreitzer, it's a triumph for teamwork and tenacity.
Fafara said about the band's writing and recording process: "I said to the guys, 'If we just met today, what kind of music would we make? How would we stand the test of time, stand apart from others and stand above the competition? Let's not focus on the past sound. Instead let's kick into the future together.'"
With new milestones like Fafara's eerie verses on "Wishing", "Dealing With Demons I" ferociously delivers the goods while kicking open several new doors for DEVILDRIVER to power through in the future. It's a vital and violent clearing of the emotional decks, but it's also powerful evidence that Dez and his bandmates have given DEVILDRIVER a volatile, visceral kick in the ass. Demons are getting dealt with in the harshest of manners.
Fafara added: "It's time to lay it all out, on two records. I'm never gonna revisit these subjects again. I've been writing about this sort of human nature, disloyalty and dishonesty, love and loss, since the beginning of my career. I am going in a more lyrically woke direction in the future. A lot of people say my music gives them strength. But what they don't realize is that these topics haunt me. Over the course of these last few years we fled from wildfires, my wife battled cancer and now we are going through a pandemic… so it is what it is… let's dump it all on the table and purge. I want to go through different topics in the future, so here we are now. I've laid it all out on a double record for all of you to hear."
This is just the beginning – fans should be prepared for the onslaught of what is to come with the impending second volume of the double album, which promises to go even harder. This is a two-part acceleration into the future — after witnessing "Dealing With Demons I", listeners will be clamoring for the second half.
Dez adds about the upcoming remainder of the "Dealing With Demons" saga: "Volume two will get into some very heavy topics as well. You'll see the band progress even further musically as we finish this ode to the purge of all things demonic."
"Dealing With Demons I" track listing:
01. Keep Away From Me
02. Vengeance Is Clear
03. Nest Of Vipers
04. Iona
05. Wishing
06. You Give Me A Reason To Drink (feat. Simon Blade Fafara)
07. Witches
08. Dealing With Demons
09. The Damned Don't Cry
10. Scars Me Forever

ACCEPT Singer MARK TORNILLO's 26-Year-Old Son DiesACCEPT singer Mark Tornillo's 26-year-old son, Michael Tyler Tornillo, died on Sunday, August 9. No cause of death has been revealed.
The band announced Michael's passing in a social media post earlier today. They wrote: "In Loving Memory of Michael Tyler Tornillo
"It is with great sadness that we join Cheri and Mark Tornillo as they mourn the loss of their beloved son, Michael Tyler Tornillo, who passed away on Sunday, August 9th. Their grief is unimaginable and we ask everyone to kindly respect the family's privacy during this difficult time. We appreciate your love and support for Cheri, Mark, their daughter Nicole and her husband Matt and baby Nate. May they find peace and comfort in the days to come!
"The ACCEPT Family"
Mark Tornillo joined ACCEPT in 2009 as the replacement for the band's original lead singer, Udo Dirkscheider. He can be heard on ACCEPT's last four studio albums, "Blood Of The Nations" (2010), "Stalingrad" (2012), "Blind Rage" (2014) and "The Rise Of Chaos" (2017).
In a 2018 interview with Metal Shock Finland, Tornillo stated about what it was like to first join ACCEPT: "It was frightening. When we first announced what was going to happen, there was really not many people on board with it. Online, there was a lot of naysayers, a lot of badmouthing. It was very disheartening. We all sat down and said, 'Look, we have to make an amazing record, or else we're gonna die here. This is going to be a swansong. We have to make an amazing record.' And that's what we did. We spent a lot of time writing 'Blood Of The Nations' and a lot of time recording it, and I think in retrospect, it paid off. If that album wasn't what it was, we wouldn't be here."
Asked about fans who have yet to "accept" him, Mark said: "Everybody is entitled to their opinion. I'm a purist too with certain things. I get it. But I think we've moved on. We're almost a different band at this point. We really are a different band at this point. We still pay tribute to the old ACCEPT by playing the old songs — I mean, we have the two people that wrote most of the songs, [so] we have to. That's always going to be part of ACCEPT's history. You can't change it. All we can change is the future. But everyone's entitled to their opinion, and I get it. I wish them all well, and I wish Udo well, and his band, you know. No hard feelings on my part, that's for sure."
In Loving Memory of Michael Tyler Tornillo
It is with great sadness that we join Cheri and Mark Tornillo as they mourn...

GEOFF TATE Is Working On A New Album That He 'Can't Talk About Right Now'In a brand new interview with Canada's The Metal Voice, former QUEENSRŸCHE frontman Geoff Tate was asked about his current and upcoming recording projects. He said (see video below): "I'm finishing up one album with an Italian friend of mine, and we're about three-quarters of the way through with that. Then I've done a couple of one-off songs for different projects, a film song that's gonna be in a movie. And then I'm also working on a new record that I can't talk about right now."
Earlier in the year, Tate was forced to postone a number of his tour dates due to the coronavirus pandemic that is spreading across the globe.
Tate spent the first two months of 2020 performing the QUEENSRŸCHE albums "Rage For Order" and "Empire" in their entirety on the "Empire 30th Anniversary Tour", which kicked off in January in Norway. Prior to that, Geoff celebrated the 30th anniversary of QUEENSRŸCHE's "Operation: Mindcrime" album on European and U.S. tours.
Tate's post-QUEENSRŸCHE band OPERATION: MINDCRIME released three albums over three years as part of a trilogy: "The Key" (September 2015), "Resurrection" (September 2016) and "The New Reality" (December 2017).
Last year, Geoff released the debut album from SWEET OBLIVION via Frontiers Music Srl. The project saw Tate teaming up with a stellar cast of Italian musicians led by Simone Mularoni, the mastermind of prog metal masters DGM.
In April 2014, Tate and QUEENSRŸCHE announced that a settlement had been reached after a nearly two-year legal battle where the singer sued over the rights to the QUEENSRŸCHE name after being fired in 2012.
Tate was replaced in QUEENSRŸCHE by former CRIMSON GLORY singer Todd La Torre.

Watch SAMMY HAGAR & THE CIRCLE Cover VAN HALEN's 'Don't Tell Me (What Love Can Do)' As Part Of 'Lockdown Sessions'Sammy Hagar and his CIRCLE bandmates have once teamed up via the Internet to record music.
After previously connecting via their smartphones from four separate locations to lay down a brand new song titled "Funky Feng Shui", as well as covers of THE WHO's "Won't Get Fooled Again", VAN HALEN's "Good Enough", BOB MARLEY & THE WAILERS' "Three Little Birds", BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD's "For What It's Worth", Little Richard's "Keep A-Knockin'" and AC/DC's "Whole Lotta Rosie", among others, they have now regrouped — in a virtual sense — to cover VAN HALEN's "Don't Tell Me (What Love Can Do)". Check out video of the performance below.
Hagar said: "When I heard that Kurt Cobain had taken his own life, the first thing I thought of was I wish I were there and could have saved him.
"The original title for these lyrics were 'I want to show you what love can do,' but because it was such a dark horrible thing I just couldn’t shine a light on it. So I changed the final line to 'Don't tell me what love can do.'
"P.S. It was also the time of the breaking up of VAN HALEN, our last album and tour so it added a lot of emotion, negativity and pain in the original vocal performance which surfaced the second I started singing this song for the first time since 1995."
This past May, SAMMY HAGAR & THE CIRCLE's U.S. tour with NIGHT RANGER was officially canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic which is sweeping the globe. Produced by Live Nation, the outing was scheduled to kick off July 9 in West Palm Beach, Florida at iTHINK Financial Amphitheatre and make stops in Tampa, Cincinnati, Dallas, Phoenix and more, before wrapping September 20 in Chula Vista, California at North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre.
Joining Hagar in THE CIRCLE are bassist Michael Anthony (VAN HALEN, CHICKENFOOT), drummer Jason Bonham (BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION, JASON BONHAM'S LED ZEPPELIN EVENING) and guitarist Vic Johnson (THE WABORITAS).
THE CIRCLE's first album of all-original material, "Space Between", was released in May 2019 via BMG. 1

ANTHRAX And DEATH ANGEL Members Cover U2's 'City Of Blinding Lights' (Video)ANTHRAX drummer Charlie Benante has teamed up with ANTHRAX bassist Frank Bello and DEATH ANGEL singer Mark Osegueda to record a cover version of U2's "City Of Blinding Lights", filmed while they were in quarantine.
Benante uploaded a video of the performance to his YouTube channel, writing in an accompanying message: "There was a station in NY called WLIR, one of the first 'alternative' stations and that's where I first heard @U2 . The song I always remember hearing first was 11 O'clock tick tock. I remember sitting on my back porch in the Bronx, bringing out speakers and listening to the radio.
"I would Listen to WLIR and try to get a good enough signal for WSOU too. WLIR exposed me to not only @u2 but the @thecure, @depechemode and more.
"The thing about @U2 was how their songs would hit you on an emotional level, both musically and lyrically. Til this day when I hear the opening of 'where the streets have no name', I still get this weird feeling; I don't know if it's happy or sad but it's definitely something!
"When ANTHRAX signed to Island records in 1985, we would be labelmates with @u2 (exciting). I loved the people at Island! The publicity department had such a great and dedicated crew and I would become friendly with a lot of them.
"We were about to go to Japan for the first time and had a long flight ahead...I was given an advanced copy of 'the Joshua Tree' album and I listened to it over and over. When I got off the plane I knew it like the back of my hand. I still can't believe how many amazing songs are on that Album, it's flawless.
"You would think if I was going to do a U2 song it would be something from Joshua tree or older but NO! One of my favorite songs is 'city of blinding lights', another one of their songs that makes me emotional when I hear it.
"I asked 2 other die hard U2 Fans to be a part because I knew they would 'NAIL' it. My Nephew and I would always play u2 songs during sound checks and backstage. We both had a kinship to their music. I knew he would Play the bass parts great, but I also knew he would sing the 'edge' parts equally great.
"Mark O and I always bonded through Music, u2 being one of the first. I always heard a 'bono' thing in marks voice and I knew he would Bring that Vibe to this.
"We all play a form of music that is very Different than what U2 play, but we have the same passion and dedication to the music we play.
"It may seem odd that we chose this song but it's really not...it's MUSIC! it's the thing that makes you move, the thing that gets you through the day, week, month etc.
"thanks to -Bono, Edge, Larry and Adam for making music that still stands the test of time.
"Hope ya dig this
"Sing it to your Girlfriend, wife or whoever you feel Looks Beautiful!"
Benante has been using his coronavirus downtime to connect virtually with other metal musicians and share videos of them covering various pop, rock and metal tracks, including those by RUSH, IRON MAIDEN, Billie Eilish and Tom Petty.
ANTHRAX has spent most of the last four years touring in support of its latest album, "For All Kings", which was released in February 2016. A follow-up effort is expected in 2021.

Watch PAPA ROACH Perform 'Last Resort' As Part Of 'Infest In-Studio' EventVideo of California rockers PAPA ROACH performing the song "Last Resort" as part of their second live streaming experience iteration called "Infest In-Studio" can be seen below. The program was a special virtually ticketed, live HD broadcast, which took place June 20 from Sacramento, and it featured PAPA ROACH performing its multi-platinum, classic album "Infest", live in its entirety to celebrate the LP's 20th anniversary, along with exclusive discussions and reflections in a unique studio environment.
"We couldn't take not performing any longer," said frontman Jacoby Shaddix. "Having performed the 'Infest' album in full as a surprise one time before (during the band's sold-out 2015 gig at London's Roundhouse on the album's 15th anniversary), we decided to open this infestation to every living-room in the world to celebrate the 20th anniversary with us!"
PAPA ROACH's first live streaming event, "Infest In-Conversation", broadcast on the 20th anniversary of "Infest"'s release (April 25, 2020), drew 1.8 million live viewers on five platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, Twitch, YouTube and VK. That program featured the band showing rare videos and photos and reminiscing with each other for nearly four hours along with members of DEFTONES, LINKIN PARK, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, KORN, as well as with Dave Buckner (the band's original drummer and founding member) and director Marcos Siega (Grammy-nominated director of the "Last Resort" and "Broken Home" music videos).
"Infest In-Studio" was co-produced by Papa Roach Productions and 10th Street Entertainment and directed by Push. It is available for streaming exclusively via VierLive.com.
"Infest" peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 chart and has been certified triple platinum by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association Of America) for sales in excess of three million copies in the U.S. alone. The album featured the iconic hits "Last Resort" and "Broken Home" plus fan favorites "Blood Brothers" and "Between Angels & Insects".
This past February, Shaddix said that plans were afoot for PAPA ROACH to mark the LP's two-decade milestone.
"We've done some really cool things in the studio around some of the previous recordings, and we have some awesome stuff to release here throughout the year, so we're going to celebrate this album for sure — one hundred percent, definitely," the singer said.
Shaddix also spoke about the enduring popularity of "Infest"'s rap-rock anthem "Last Resort", which recently passed 100 million views on YouTube.
"That's our classic," he said. "That thing, it's given us such a relevance, even in pop culture. People are making memes — 'Cut my life into pizza.' I love that. 'Cause now I don't take it all too seriously, because it's embedded itself into pop culture, but then also the reality is that it's spoken to a lot of people's hearts that have been in that darkness, and going, 'Hey, man, there's some hope. You can come out of this. You don't have to stay in there.'"
Earlier in the year, PAPA ROACH completed a European tour with ICE NINE KILLS and HOLLYWOOD UNDEAD.

Watch THE DEAD DAISIES' Music Video For Cover Of HUMBLE PIE's '30 Days In The Hole'THE DEAD DAISIES — the hard rock "collective" founded by Australian musician and businessman David Lowy — has released the official music video for its cover version of the HUMBLE PIE classic "30 Days In The Hole". The track is taken from THE DEAD DAISIES' new digital EP, "The Lockdown Sessions", which was made avaialble on July 17 via Steamhammer/SPV. The effort contains four acoustic tracks, all of them exclusive to this EP.
Says the band: "Darker nights, isolation and a world full of uncertainties have all been great inspiration for our latest video featuring the haunting version of '30 Days In The Hole', stripped back and done with a guitar and voice featuring Glenn [Hughes] and Doug [Aldrich]. The cover of the HUMBLE PIE classic in its very bare and raw form highlights both Glenn's unique and powerful voice as well Doug's distinctive playing technique. Watch this amazing atmospheric video which reflects the words and feelings of the performance perfectly."
"The Lockdown Sessions" contains four tracks: "Unspoken", "Righteous Days" and "30 Days In The Hole", with these three exclusive unplugged versions also featuring as powerful rock tracks on the upcoming album, "Holy Ground". The EP rounds out with a stripped back version of "Fortunate Son", featuring drummer Deen Castronovo on lead vocals.
Lowy said: "As soon as it had become clear that our tour and album release would have to be postponed until 2021, we recorded these acoustic tracks with our fans in mind. 'The Lockdown Sessions' is our way to stay in touch with everyone despite the global restrictions."
"The Lockdown Sessions" unmistakably proves that Glenn Hughes has already added his distinctive sound to THE DEAD DAISIES.
"As we all know, Glenn is a fantastic bassist and vocalist who is rightly referred to as 'The Voice Of Rock,'" Lowy said. "We really enjoyed ourselves with him at the studio and can hardly wait to present the new songs and current lineup live on stage."
"The Lockdown Sessions" track listing:
01. Unspoken (acoustic version)
02. Fortunate Son (live)
03. Righteous Days (acoustic version)
04. 30 Days In The Hole (acoustic version)
"Holy Ground" will be released on January 22, 2021. The album was recorded at La Fabrique Studios in the south of France with producer Ben Grosse. The follow-up to 2018's "Burn It Down", will be the band's first to feature Hughes (DEEP PURPLE, BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION), who joined the group last year as its new bassist and vocalist, replacing John Corabi (MÖTLEY CRÜE) and Marco Mendoza (THIN LIZZY).
In an interview with "The Blairing Out With Eric Blair Show" at this past January's NAMM convention in Anaheim, California, Hughes spoke about how he came to be involved with THE DEAD DAISIES. He said: "They wanted someone in, and they were asking me about a year ago if I would be interested in doing this. And I've been doing the 'Glenn Hughes Performs Classic Deep Purple' [shows] for a couple of years, and I thought it would be appropriate for me to take a break from that and do something other than [that]. And I got together with the guys and we had a play. I've known Doug a long time, as you know. And it just fell together beautifully. It's a beautiful piece of music. I can't wait for people to hear it."
Asked what the new DEAD DAISIES material sounds like, Glenn said: "It's classic rock and it's a groovy album. It's got a lot of melodies to it. It's what you can imagine with me joining them — what could have happened and what has happened. It's a very interesting piece of music."
THE DEAD DAISIES 2020 are:
* Glenn Hughes (DEEP PURPLE, BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION) - Lead Vocals/Bass Guitar
* Doug Aldrich (WHITESNAKE, DIO) - Guitar
* David Lowy (MINK, RED PHOENIX) - Guitar
* Deen Castronovo (JOURNEY, BAD ENGLISH, HARDLINE) – Drums

REPENTANCE Feat. STUCK MOJO, Ex-SOIL Members: 'God For A Day' Music VideoMetal band REPENTANCE has released the official music video for "God For A Day", the title track of its debut album, due out September 25 via Art is War Records/Intercept Music.
REPENTANCE came together in 2018 when Shaun Glass, a veteran guitarist of SOIL, BROKEN HOPE and DIRGE WITHIN, recruited Mike Sylvester on bass and began songwriting with lead guitarist Markus Johansson of the group THEM. Robb Rivera of NONPOINT introduced STUCK MOJO frontman Robby J. Fonts and from there... REPENTANCE was born.
"It came together very naturally, which was a very cleansing experience," states Glass. "At this point in my life, I was hoping to start working and creating new music with an almost entirely new group of people and this crew organically locked into place."
"It's crazy how things happen," comments Fonts. "I was looking to start a new band since Rich [Ward] and Frank [Fontsere] are currently busy outside of STUCK MOJO [touring with FOZZY], so the timing for REPENTANCE came perfectly. One phone call later, we were stoked to get this show on the road. Shaun sent me demos, I wrote lyrics and vocals and our songs started coming together quickly."
REPENTANCE made its live stage debut by opening up for TRIVIUM. Within its short time together the band would go on to share the stage with DEVILDRIVER, JINJER, SKULL FIST, TOXIC HOLOCAUST and SACRED REICH.
In October 2018, REPENTANCE released its debut single, "Enter The Gallows", and by the end of the year, Kanky Lora, of SOULFLY and STRAIGHT LINE STITCH fame, would join the band on drums, thus solidifying this powerhouse line-up.
"The band's sound is definitely very aggressive, pummeling metal and we can't wait to share some music with everyone soon," adds Glass. "Everyone is bringing their own style to the table and the uniqueness of each is helping to shape our sound. We're creating a style that we enjoy ourselves first and foremost."
In 2019, REPENTANCE signed with Art is War Records and released the single "Only The Damned Die Young", which was recorded at Electroworks Recording with Chuck Macack (BORN OF OSIRIS, OCEANO) as well as mixed and mastered by engineer Chris Collier (PRONG, WHITESNAKE).
"You know you're onto something special when everyone connects instantly and the creativity keeps on flowing," says Fonts. "I think fans of our previous work will be in for a pleasant surprise."

LIKE MOTHS TO FLAMES To Release 'No Eternity In Gold' Album In OctoberColumbus, Ohio metalcore band LIKE MOTHS TO FLAMES will release its fifth full-length album, "No Eternity In Gold", on October 30 via UNFD. Produced, mixed and mastered by Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland (AUGUST BURNS RED, RIVERS OF NIHIL), this is a record that showcases LIKE MOTHS TO FLAMES like never before. Displaying their trademark foundations of incisive technical dexterity and uncompromising heaviness — all underpinned with earworm melodies — their fifth studio album is the result of challenged perspectives, fully realized ideals and lessons learned.
Fans can get a taste of what's to come with today's release of "Habitual Decline", the first single from "No Eternity In Gold".
"'Habitual Decline' encapsulates a lot of what I've been trying to convey in my lyrics since the band started," shares frontman Chris Roetter. "Sometimes you give your all and you feel like you've got nothing left. That echoes through a lot of what I try to do and accomplish, even outside of the band. This is kind of a 'shedding skin' feeling for me. Moving on and just accepting that I'm where I'm at and dealing with it."
Each track on the forthcoming album carries a specific weight and personal connection to Roetter, making this LIKE MOTHS TO FLAMES' most personal and creative record to date.
"The 11 tracks focus on overcoming 11 separate issues that I'm dealing with when I wake up every day," he explains. "Most prevalently, it's about struggling with yourself and your own feelings about your ultimate worth. These songs probably showcase more of my own mind than our previous work. I live my life like an open book, and we in the band are all very spiritual people who are in touch with their emotions. I feel that is something that society neglects; we are taught to bury and suppress negative feelings, when we believe that by embracing those emotions, you learn a huge amount about yourself."
"No Eternity In Gold" track listing
01. The Anatomy Of Evil
02. Habitual Decline
03. Burn In Water, Drown In Flame

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH Releases Lyric Video For 'This Is War'FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH has released an official lyric video for "This Is War", a song from the band's latest album, "F8".
"F8" was released in February. The follow-up to 2018's "And Justice For None" capped a turbulent period for FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH in which singer Ivan Moody finally got sober after a near-fatal struggle with addiction, while co-founding drummer Jeremy Spencer bowed out of the band due to physical issues.
Much of "F8"'s lyrical content deals with Moody's battle with addiction, its aftermath and his recovery. The singer celebrated two years of sobriety in March.
FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH's new disc was once again helmed by Kevin Churko, the Canadian record producer/engineer and songwriter who currently lives in Las Vegas, where he works out of his private studio, The Hideout Recording Studio. The drums on the LP were laid down by Charlie "The Engine" Engen, who made his live debut with the group during its fall 2018 tour with BREAKING BENJAMIN.
In an interview with Berlin, Germany's Star FM, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH guitarist Zoltan Bathory spoke about the inspiration for the title of "F8". He said: "Originally, we were just gonna call it '8', sort of. We thought it's the eighth record, and if you wanted to be esoteric about it, we figured, well, if you turn the '8' sideways, it's the symbol of infinity. There was some play with the visuals. I do most of the design and the graphics for the merch in the band in general… So, I was playing around with the graphics and I thought it maybe needs a bit more. And we were bouncing around ideas, and we added the letter 'F.' So it was, like, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH's eighth record. At the same time, if you want to read it phonetically, it could be 'fate.'"
Bathory told The Pulse Of Radio the band felt a different kind of vibe when it finally got into the studio to make "F8". "After eight records, I don't think we have to say, 'Well, we are here to stay,'" he said. "But there was this image of getting into the studio and 'Let's light this on fire.' This was this different sort of power, this different sort of energy that was driving us."

Ex-DEATH Members GENE HOGLAN, STEVE DIGIORGIO And BOBBY KOELBLE Perform Quarantine Version Of 'Zero Tolerance'Three former members of DEATH — drummer Gene Hoglan, bassist Steve DiGiorgio and guitarist Bobby Koelble — recently teamed up with their DEATH TO ALL bandmate, guitarist/vocalist Max Phelps, to record a quarantine cover version of the DEATH classic "Zero Tolerance" from the 1995 album "Symbolic". Check out video of the performance below.
"Symbolic" stands out as unique in DEATH's catalog — the moment Chuck Schuldiner married his progressive direction with more song-based material, not to mention it is also one of Schuldiner's sonically richest-sounding recordings, courtesy of producer Jim Morris.
The April 2008 remastered reissue of "Symbolic" via Roadrunner Records included the original album tracks plus several previously unreleased, ultra-rare, mostly instrumental demo recordings that were completed in early 1994 with the lineup of Schuldiner, Hoglan and DiGiorgio. The package also came with brand new liner notes written by longtime metal journalist Don Kaye.
Schuldiner died on December 13, 2001 after a battle with pontine glioma, a rare type of brain tumor.
In recent years, DEATH's storied catalog has undergone a meticulous reissue campaign via Relapse Records.
Relapse released the first-ever fully authorized DEATH tab book, featuring 21 classic songs tabbed out for guitar from the band's entire discography. The book, which includes traditional notation as well as tablature, also comes with a digital download of all tracks. 5

Watch SEETHER's SHAUN MORGAN And COREY LOWERY Perform Acoustic Version Of 'Dangerous'Video of SEETHER's Shaun Morgan and Corey Lowery performing an acoustic version of the band's new single, "Dangerous", can be seen below. The clip was filmed and recorded at SEETHER's home studio in Nashville, Tennessee.
"Dangerous" is taken from SEETHER's eighth album, "Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum", which is due on August 28 via Fantasy Records.
Three years after releasing its critically acclaimed record "Poison The Parish", SEETHER returns with "Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum". Translating to "If You Want Peace, Prepare For War", the LP features 13 new tracks, a primal mix of euphoria and misery, undoubtedly some of the strongest material of their illustrious career, including the beautifully tormented first single "Dangerous". An animated music video for the track was created by noted Turkish director Mertcan Mertbilek (Santana, Ray Charles, Ravi Shankar, Elvis Costello).
"These songs are carefully crafted to nestle in your ears like a tiny velvet rabbit clutching a switchblade," says Morgan, his flair for vivid imagery on full display. That bold openness strikes a chord musically and lyrically on songs that explore and eviscerate demons both personal and cultural. "This whole album is kind of me going through that process. I'm exposing myself to a degree I'm not normally comfortable with," he says. "But I think it's okay. I'm proud to be a little bit more vulnerable on this album."
"Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum" was produced by Morgan and engineered and mixed by Matt Hyde (DEFTONES, AFI) in Nashville from December 2019 through January 2020. The band is joined on the album by newest member Corey Lowery (ex-guitarist/vocalist for SAINT ASONIA and STUCK MOJO), Morgan's friend of 16 years, who also assistant-engineered the album.
"Corey has a lot of experience and is an inspiring guitarist as well; he's the older brother I've always wanted," Morgan said. SEETHER's rock-solid rhythm section is bassist and founding member Dale Stewart, and drummer John Humphrey (who joined in 2003).
The new album's haunting, unforgettable "Dangerous" is an instant standout. While the band prefers to leave "Dangerous" open to interpretation, lyrics like, "It's so dangerous all this blamelessness / and I feel like I lost all the good I've known" are a passionate and pointed indictment of self and society at large. "Beg", where Morgan snarls, "See hope fading out of your eyes / This time the pain is going to feel unreal," is similarly unrelenting. The chorus’s point-blank demand, "beg, motherfucker!" is a primal rock rallying cry. "Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum"'s brutal but beautiful lyrics infuse these songs with cathartic urgency like this from the track "Failure": "I live my life like a broken-hearted failure / I'm trying to shed some light on the scars left by the razors."
The push-pull on "Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum" is as dynamic as it is memorable as Morgan brings his intimate singer-songwriter sensibility to the band's heavy rock grooves. Drawing on influences including the dark and raw honesty of grunge's epic guitar attack and the South African underground punk and metal that Morgan (and Stewart) grew up on, SEETHER's sonic brew is unmistakable and timeless.
"Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum" track listing:
01. Dead And Done
02. Bruised And Bloodied
03. Wasteland
04. Dangerous
05. Liar
06. Can't Go Wrong
07. Buried In The Sand
08. Let It Go
09. Failure
10. Beg
11. Drift Away
12. Pride Before The Fall
13. Written In Stone
Morgan and Stewart formed SEETHER in South Africa in 1999 under the name SARON GAS. The band released its first album, "Fragile", in 2000, and eventually caught the attention of American record label Wind-Up Records.
SEETHER has undergone several lineup changes over the years, with Morgan and Stewart remaining constant.
