MYLES KENNEDY Performs Acoustic Versions Of Two New Songs For HARDDRIVE RADIO (Video)

MYLES KENNEDY Performs Acoustic Versions Of Two New Songs For HARDDRIVE RADIO (Video)

Video of ALTER BRIDGE and SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS vocalist Myles Kennedy performing acoustic versions of two songs, "Get Along" and "In Stride", for HardDrive Radio can be seen below.

"Get Along" and "In Stride" are taken from Kennedy's sophomore solo album, "The Ides Of March", which will be released on May 14 via Napalm Records.

During his time at home due to all touring being canceled, Myles created the framework for the song ideas that would make up "The Ides Of March". He then called up his cohorts from his "Year Of The Tiger" debut — Uddin and Tournier — and the three musicians drove to Florida to record the album with longtime producer Michael "Elvis" Baskette.

From the slide guitar riffs of "Get Along" to the pensive blues style of closer "Worried Mind", it is clear that Myles has crafted a formidable follow up to his debut solo album. While "Year Of The Tiger" was more of an acoustic exploration through Myles's mind, "The Ides Of March" finds him strapping on his electric guitar and pushing himself as a guitarist/songwriter. Tracks like "A Thousand Words", "Wake Me When It's Over" and "Moonshot" showcase the diverse musical arrangements that have garnered Myles fans globally across all of his projects. The epic "The Ides Of March" clocks in at over seven minutes, and Myles, Tim and Zia showcase their musical chops on the track.

In November, Myles told Kylie Olsson about how "The Ides Of March" compares to "Year Of The Tiger": "It dawned on me last night as I was listening [to the new album], I was, like, 'You basically made a rock record.' [Laughs] I don't know if I went into it with that intention initially. And I feel like it definitely is still a continuation of the overall style that was established for the solo project on 'Year Of The Tiger'. There's a fair amount of acoustic instrumentation; there's a lot of lap steel [guitar]. I love the lap steel; I just love the way you can make it weep — it's got a very vocal quality. But then I realized there's just a lot of guitar and a lot more solos — you know, guitar geek stuff that I enjoy."

A month earlier, Kennedy told Terrie Carr of the Morristown, New Jersey radio station 105.5 WDHA that it was a joy to reconnect with Uddin, Tournier and Baskette for the making of the new LP.

"Oh, yeah, it was great," he said. "It was great, because we actually drove [to the studio in Florida]. So Zia, my drummer, who, we've played together for the last 30 years, off and on, since we were in high school. He's, in my opinion, one of the greatest rock and roll drummers alive; he's so good, it's mind-boggling. So we started driving. We left Spokane, with the gear in tow. And then we met Tim about halfway. I think we met somewhere in Tennessee, maybe. Then we after driving to Orlando, we all quarantined. Zia did his drums and then he went home, and then Tim finished up. He hung around for a little while. And then I was there for, I think, seven weeks with Elvis."

He continued: "It's a fun environment. We all love each other dearly. I'm serious when I say this: we're a bunch of middle-aged children. I mean, it's as if we've taken a time machine and we're in the seventh grade. And the humor is ridiculously silly. I don't even know how to articulate how ridiculous it gets when you put all of us in a studio together. [Laughs]"

Myles's tour in support of "Year Of The Tiger" featured music from the album as well as selections from Myles's work with ALTER BRIDGE, THE MAYFIELD FOUR and SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS.

"I'm Tore Down" can be streamed below.

Moore enjoyed a spectacular career with bands such as SKID ROW, THIN LIZZY and G-FORCE, and predominately as a solo artist during which time he effortlessly switched from heavy rock to blues, taking his denim-clad fans along for what would be a hugely successful journey.

Moore's guitar mastery saw him collaborate with stars like B.B. King and Albert King, Peter Green, Jack Bruce and Eric Clapton.

Gary Moore died on February 6, 2011 after suffering a heart attack in his sleep, aged just 58.

This past February, the campaign to erect a statue of Moore in the guitar legend's native Belfast received a boost ahead of the tenth anniversary of his passing.

A statue recognizing Moore in Belfast could become a feature of the city's plans for a major cultural celebration in 2023.

PRIMAL FEAR Enter German Single Charts For The First Time With "I Will Be Gone" Featuring TARJA;

PRIMAL FEAR Enter German Single Charts For The First Time With "I Will Be Gone" Featuring TARJA;

On April 9th, German power metallers Primal Fear released a 5-track single built around an exclusive new rendition of their achingly beautiful ballad "I Will Be Gone", re-recorded with none other than Finnish metal diva extraordinaire, Tarja Turunen. The band has checked in with the following update:

"It’s impossible ….. well, let’s make the impossible possible. What never happened before... for the first time Primal Fear entered the official German Single Charts and we’re more than excited! Thanks to Tarja Turunen Markus Staiger Markus Wosgien Flori Milz Nuclear Blast Ingo Spörl Stan W Decker Hansen Studios and of course our fans & friends! Much love."

“There were three famous vocalists on our final wish list,” Mat Sinner comments. “That it was Tarja who got involved in this song is a matter of pure joy for all of us. Working together on the song and video was totally relaxed and professional – a great experience also because Tarja’s and Ralf’s voices go together incredibly well. Now, we can expand the Metal Commando saga with a unique chapter. We’re all really proud of this single.”

The Finnish icon can only agree: “I was very happy to receive the invitation to take part in Primal Fear’s beautiful song ‘I Will Be Gone’. We started our careers nearly at the same time many years ago, and finally got a chance to work together. I love the song and personally it helped me to stay connected and rock again, even if at the studio this time. I really hope that people will like this collaboration and that it will bring them joy especially during these difficult times we are living through at the moment.”

The song, fragile and touching, gets an altogether new and deeply melancholic vibe with Tarja’s unbelievably emotional performance, showcasing a different facet of Primal Fear. Yet, it’s not the only gift they deliver on this 5-track sensation - just take "Vote Of No Confidence" for example, an all-new, previously unreleased beast of a song. Clocking in at over six minutes, this storming, furious anthem gives a brilliant glimpse of things to come. Previously only available as bonus tracks on the limited Metal Commando digipack, three more tracks complete this release; enchanting guitar instrumental "Rising Fear", massive mid-tempo smasher "Leave Me Alone", and heavy metal monument "Second To None", making "I Will Be Gone" so much more than just another off shoot of a successful album.

Tracklisting:

"I Will Be Gone" (feat. Tarja Turunen)
"Vote For No Confidence"
"Rising Fear"
"Leave Me Alone"
"Second to None"

LIV KRISTINE - Official Video For "Gravity" Released; Have Courage Dear Heart EP Available

LIV KRISTINE - Official Video For "Gravity" Released; Have Courage Dear Heart EP Available

Former Theatre of Tragedy vocalist Liv Kristine - now fronting Coldbound - released the digital version of her Have Courage Dear Heart EP on April 16th. The official video for the track "Gravity", co-durected by Coldbound bandmate Pauli Souka, is available below to coincide with the release.

The physical versions of the Have Courage Dear Heart will be issued on May 7th. The limited edition coloured vinyl versions have been unveiled and are now available for pre-order here.

Liv Kristine: "In my new compilation EP, I bring together nine tracks, thereof four new compositions and five of my favourite live songs. The title track 'Have Courage Dear Heart' originally existed as a mandolin tune, which my composer Tommy had sent me 'just for fun' early summer 2019. After I had recorded my vocals the song just started growing and shining. We really wanted to keep this underlying Morricone vibe and somehow the perfect sound just manifested like in an imaginary widescreen Western movie setting. The track 'Skylight', which was released as a strongly limited single in December 2019, got its own cathedral version. Moreover, we thought it was time to wipe off the dust from an old, brilliant demo 'Serenity', which expresses this cool 'kick-ass-Saturday-morning' drive vibe. All compositions deal with deeply personal issues such as the beauty of nature, the universe and its laws, twin-soul connection, self-love, narcissism, healing and finding a voice.

The live tracks were chosen arbitrarily. It is the first time I am releasing live recordings. They were played at my eighth annual special show in Nagold (Germany) in 2019. 'Siren' (Theatre of Tragedy, Aégis, 1998) seems to be one of my audience’s long-time favourites, as well as 'Panic', unmasking the abuser, the traditional 'Ave Maria' (special request from my audience) and my new compositions 'Skylight' and 'Gravity'.

Tommy, Andy and Eroc did a brilliant job in their studios, as well as my band, the audience and Chris behind the mixing desk at Alte Seminarturnhalle Nagold (Germany) on December 20th, 2019.

Thank you, Michael, Allegro Talent Media for encouraging me to release this EP 'on our own.' I know that my fans have become accustomed to waiting patiently between my albums. This is, after all, half-way to the album. I needed to devote myself to family life, finding my own voice, trust, freedom, seeing the whole, the balancing powers and the given abundance of the universe. I had to learn to open up my heart and release fears. I did, and I found unconditional love. The cover artwork conveys that frequency of having found my passionate authentic voice, that divine truth and source in my heart."

Tracklist:

"Serenity"
"Have Courage Dear Heart"
"Skylight"
"Gravity"
"Skylight" (cathedral version)
"Panic" (Live in Nagold 2019)
"Siren" (Live in Nagold 2019)
"Skylight" (Live in Nagold 2019)
"Gravity" (Live in Nagold 2019)
"Ave Maria" (Live in Nagold 2019)

ANGEL NATION Feat. LEAVES' EYES Vocalist ELINA SIIRALA Release “Fly Away” Music Video

ANGEL NATION Feat. LEAVES' EYES Vocalist ELINA SIIRALA Release “Fly Away” Music Video

The female fronted melodic metal band Angel Nation featuring Leaves’ Eyes vocalist Elina Siirala have released a music video for their new single "Fly Away".

Angel Nation are currently working on the band's third Album but they've made a pit stop on this journey by releasing an extra special song "Fly Away". Some time ago a long term supporter approached Elina to ask if she would write a song to his son's memory. She read the story behind it which turned out to be very moving and sad. However, when hearing more and looking more closely, it was the positivity and joy that shone through. A song dedicated to the memory of Leif Ole, someone who touched so many hearts, kept laughing, showing others how to enjoy the small things. Someone who's smile will never die in the hearts of those who got to know him.

Musically "Fly Away" has the true Angel Nation sound, bringing back the old school band feel and ‘80s vibes. This ballad combines more intimate, acoustic approach and a full rock sound being delicate, strong, sad and joyful, all at the same time.

"We are thrilled to be releasing new music and hope this song will bring positivity in the midst of what has been a hard year for many of us. If you want to support us on our way to our third full length album, you can purchase and stream this single on the usual digital platforms."

TRIXTER’s PJ FARLEY Releases New Single “Chokehold”

TRIXTER’s PJ FARLEY Releases New Single “Chokehold”

“Chokehold” is the new video from PJ Farley featuring guitarist Steve Brown (Trixter) and it is the latest single from his album Accent The Change.

The dynamic new album from PJ was released on September 25 through HighVolMusic.

“This record is something that I am proud of on a profound level. For starters, I’m proud that I completed it unknowing I was going to make a follow up. Songs kept coming to me and I’ve had plenty to write about. I’ve cut myself open on it and have painted pictures of some of the things that have evolved and transpired since Boutique Sound Frames was written. There is a kind of theme and conscious pace to it that makes sense in sequence. Once again, it is a rock record but one that does not go 100mph…….and I’m ok with tha,” says PJ Farley.

DREAM OCEAN – “The Great Silence” Video Streaming

DREAM OCEAN – “The Great Silence” Video Streaming

Turkish/German symphonic metal band Dream Ocean have released the first single off their upcoming studio album. Fans can check out the dazzling music video for "The Great Silence" below. The track is featured on the band's new album The Missing Stone, which they will release independently later this year. Fans who want to know first about all the forthcoming details on Dream Ocean's new album will want to sign up for the band's Indiegogo, which will be launching soon.

Speaking about their new single "The Great Silence", lead singer Basak Ylva shares: "We’re happy to release our first single 'The Great Silence' which, like the rest of the upcoming album, is not a silent song at all. 'The Great Silence' is one of the latest songs that we created for our next album The Missing Stone and our bass guitarist Sebastian wrote this song within a few hours. I was instantly inspired by the powerful composition that he created so I immediately wrote the vocal lines and the lyrics and we finished the song in a day."

She goes on to add: "It was the beginning of the lockdown and we were very disappointed by the fact that all concerts had to stop. We musicians had to wait in silence for a long time and we were heading into an unsure future. So I wanted to support the amazing and powerful melodies of the song with a powerful positive mantra. 'Love born among the ruins within the great silence', because we and also many other musicians believe that this hard worldwide situation will give birth to a new normal. We all will be free again and come back even stronger within this new order. We hope our listeners will have the same feelings as us and the song will fill them with hope and positivity."

HEART's NANCY WILSON Streaming EDDIE VAN HALEN Tribute "4 Edward"

HEART's NANCY WILSON Streaming EDDIE VAN HALEN Tribute "4 Edward"

Co-founder, guitarist and Rock And Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Nancy Wilson of Heart, is set to release her first ever solo album, You And Me, on May 7 via her new label, Carry On Music. Today, Nancy shares her tribute to late Van Halen guitar legend, Eddie Van Halen.

Listen/buy “4 Edward” here (and below). Pre-order the new album here.

The new album was recorded primarily in Wilson’s California home studio, working with band members and special guests remotely.

“Being off the road last year from touring with Heart, and at home with my good guitars and amps out,” Wilson says, “I felt like I was once again able to reconnect with my pre-Heart self, my college-girl self, creating poetic, intimate and romantic songs, which pretty much is what I first brought in to Heart.”

Most of the tracks are originals, but Wilson decided to include a handful of covers by a few of her favorites, including a female perspective of Pearl Jam’s “Daughter,” a stirring turn of Simon & Garfunkel’s “The Boxer” featuring Sammy Hagar, and an ethereal cover of the Cranberries “Dreams,” featuring Liv Warfield (Prince) from Nancy’s previous band Roadcase Royale. The first single from the album was Bruce Springsteen’s “The Rising,” which dropped last fall.

“During this horrific time in the world, with all this enduring loss, it seemed like the right time for an aspirational song about hope and perseverance,” Wilson says.

The other eight tracks are originals, mostly acoustic ballads, but there are also some rousing rockers like “Party At The Angel Ballroom” which features a superstar backing band, including Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses and Taylor Hawkins of the Foo Fighters. The album ends with a song that captures the full spectrum of loss, love and redemption in one instrumental coda. Titled “4 Edward,” it is Nancy’s tribute to Eddie Van Halen, whose 2020 loss still looms large over music. Nancy came to know Eddie when Heart toured with Van Halen, and she once asked him why he didn’t play acoustic. “I don’t have one,” he told her, which she immediately rectified. Eddie took the guitar she gave him and wrote a song on it that stole Nancy’s heart. After his death last year, Nancy knew she had to return the favor.

The title track “You And Me,” as with several of the songs on the album, reunites Wilson with longtime collaborator Sue Ennis, who co-wrote many of Heart’s classics with Nancy, and sister Ann. “I’ve known Sue since I was 12,” Nancy says. “Back then she was a high school friend of Ann’s. We’ve always worked well together.” The single will be released digitally on March 8, 2021 with an album pre-order set to launch the same day. Fans can pre-save the track, here.

With her band Heart, Nancy Wilson has recorded 16 albums, sold over 35 million albums worldwide and has four Grammy nominations. She had previously released one other album with just her name on it, Live at McCabe’s Guitar Shop, which captured her playing a set of covers and new songs in 1999. But considers this her first true solo album, a positive creative move amid a surreal year of loss; life during lock down.

“I don’t know why it took me so long to do this,” she laughs. “Maybe I was stuck in traffic, maybe I was stuck in the Heart vortex of it all.” But in a year with “no traffic,” Wilson finally found a place for the music she’s been writing in her head for decades.

You And Me tracklisting:

PINK FLOYD Streaming Music Video + 2021 Edit Of "Comfortably Numb" From Upcoming Live At Knebworth 1990 Multi-Format Release

Pink Floyd Live At Knebworth 1990 will be released for the first time on CD, double vinyl and digital platforms on Friday, April 30. The concert was part of the star-studded 1990 Silver Clef Winners performance at Knebworth House, Hertfordshire, headlined by Pink Floyd. The monumentous Knebworth concert saw Pink Floyd topping the all-star bill that included Paul McCartney, Dire Straits, Genesis, Phil Collins, Mark Knopfler, Robert Plant (with Jimmy Page), Cliff Richard, Eric Clapton, and Tears For Fears. Around 120,000 music fans saw these giants of rock appear on the hallowed stage of Knebworth, all in aid of the Nordoff Robbins charity, profits from which went towards setting up the BRIT School. The concert was broadcast globally on MTV.

Backing vocals came from Durga McBroom, Sam Brown and her mother Vicki, and (original The Great Gig in the Sky vocalist) Clare Torry. DELETE AFTER DEATH Featuring Former QUIET RIOT / ADLER'S APPETITE Singer Release "Free Money" Music Video

DELETE AFTER DEATH Featuring Former QUIET RIOT / ADLER'S APPETITE Singer Release "Free Money" Music Video

LA-based rock band, Delete After Death, is the new project formed by vocalist Seann Nicols and guitarist Doug Weiand.

Nicols is no stranger to success as the lead singer for several successful headline acts including Westfield Massacre, Adler’s Appetite and of course the legendary Quiet Riot and Ratt. Nicols’ previous project Westfield Massacre – Salvation (2018) reached #1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers – Pacific, #5 Heatseekers – South Atlantic, #7 Heatseekers Albums, #11 Hard Rock Album Sales, #27 Inde- pendent Albums, and #31 Rock Album Sales.

Doug Weiand is a composer and a guitar player with an extraordinary repertoire. An artist influenced mostly by heavy metal and rock yet with the sensibilities and experience in jazz, classical and rock fusion. Doug also happens to be a member of one of my all time favourite LA bands The Chimpz whose music has featured on the hit TV show Sons Of Anarchy. The pairing of Nicols and Weiand is highlighting a new explosive force in the rock genre.

The music showcases Nicols’ powerful vocals and song production talents combined with Weiand’s distinguished guitar abilities. In an age where the most innocuous of things can send the world into panic and bring countries to a standstill you can always rely on the age-old and proven currency of cash. Or can you?

Delete After Death deftly pose this question with their debut single “Free Money”, a scathing indictment of the one commodity that makes the world go round.

Cleverly utilising black and white photography amid washes of vibrant colours, Delete After Death use the film clip to justify the relative absurdity of the lyrics. Absurd because they are true! Nicols revels in the tongue in cheek nature of “Free Money”, posing in various stages of opulence which is in stark contrast to the deliberate black and white footage which not only harks back to an era gone by, but also adds a sense of bleakness and hopeless- ness to a commodity that is the unfortunate backbone of human existence.

TESTAMENT's ALEX SKOLNICK Looks Back On His Brief Stint As OZZY OSBOURNE's Guitarist In 1995

TESTAMENT's ALEX SKOLNICK Looks Back On His Brief Stint As OZZY OSBOURNE's Guitarist In 1995

During a recent appearance on "Waste Some Time With Jason Green", TESTAMENT guitarist Alex Skolnick reflected on landing the coveted guitarist gig in Ozzy Osbourne's band in 1995 only to be told less than a month later it had been given to someone else.

"I didn't know the whole back story, but I guess at that point, Zakk Wylde was doing his own thing, and they were looking to move on from Zakk, even though he had recorded the most recent album, which was "Ozzmosis'," Alex said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). "They were not doing a public audition; they were trying a few different players. I know Richie Kotzen auditioned; a great player, by the way. Some others as well. But for some reason, they hadn't found the right fit. And I ended up flying to London and auditioning with Ozzy in a dingy rehearsal place in London. And I was basically there for about a week. We ended up doing an unannounced show. And it seemed to go well. He seemed really happy. Everybody in the crew said, 'This is the happiest we've seen him. This feels right. I'm sure you've got this.' Ozzy basically told me I've got this. But then the one person who didn't congratulate me was the one who was supposed to let you know if you're hired or not," referring to Ozzy's wife and manager, Sharon Osbourne. "She didn't seem disappointed, but I kind of got the sense, 'All right. It's not decided.' Anyway, a bunch of time goes by and I don't hear anything, so I kind of assume nothing's happening. And then I find out they got the guitarist Joe Holmes, who had auditioned for them earlier on. He had been a candidate at the time Zakk Wylde had tried out."

Skolnick went on to say that he got the impression Sharon and the rest of the Ozzy camp were trying to mold him into something he wasn't. "I was also getting these messages — subtle messages — about my stance and lowering the guitar," he recalled. "And I realized, 'Oh…' Now, having been in the music and entertainment industry for a while, and knowing about casting and things like that, I think they were very used to Zakk, and I think at first they were trying to make me more like that. They were used to this guitar-slinging, lumberjack thing. I don't know — obviously, you would have to ask her — but I would guess that instead of somebody sort of known and somebody that's gonna be this featured [guitar] hero, let's just take somebody who can play well but will move into the background. And that's how that was. And I wouldn't have been happy doing that."

In a 2004 interview, Skolnick called the experience of being dropped from Ozzy's band "a major lesson in the music business." He explained: "I go home [after playing the Rock City gig in Nottingham, England] and don't hear anything for three weeks. Finally, I called Sharon's assistant, who was surprised that she hadn't called me yet and that I should expect a call from Sharon. I sensed bad news. When Sharon called, she told me they really liked my playing and appreciate the time I put in, but they've decided to hire someone else, Joe Holmes. With all due respect to Holmes, to this day everyone I've spoken to has no idea why they [or she] made this decision. I was told it might have been because Holmes was a former student of Randy Rhoads."

TESTAMENT's latest album, "Titans Of Creation", was released in April 2020 via Nuclear Blast.

MARK BOALS Blasts YNGWIE MALMSTEEN's Attempts At Singing: 'Unfortunately, I Can't Unhear It'

MARK BOALS Blasts YNGWIE MALMSTEEN's Attempts At Singing: 'Unfortunately, I Can't Unhear It'

Acclaimed hard rock singer Mark Boals, who is noted most for his vocal work with Yngwie Malmsteen, appearing on four studio albums, including the hard rock classic "Trilogy", discussed his collaboration with the neoclassical guitar virtuoso during a recent appearance on "Waste Some Time With Jason Green".

After working with some of the top hard singers of the past four decades, Yngwie now handles much of the lead vocals himself in his own band, backed by a lineup that includes keyboardist Nick Marino, bassist/vocalist Ralph Ciavolino and drummer Brian Wilson. Asked by Green if he has heard any of Malmsteen's recent attempts at singing, Boals said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Unfortunately, I can't unhear it. But I knew what his voice was like from before. I think when we were recording [1999's] 'Alchemy', he came to me and said, 'Man, I've been taking voice lessons for eight years. What's wrong? What am I doing wrong?' And I said, 'Well, Yngwie…' His voice, it just doesn't sound good; it doesn't have a good sound; it doesn't have a pleasing sound. He can sing notes, but they don't sound pleasing. I didn't know what to tell him. But that's the fact. He tries really hard."

Mark continued: "A singer is a totally different ballgame than being [an instrumental] musician. You can't just just pick up a [Ronnie James] Dio-model voice and put it on and sing like Dio, or put on an Ian Gillan voice and sing like Ian Gillan. You've gotta work with what you have; it's a physically limiting thing, and it's a talent. Just like playing guitar. I can't pick up a guitar and play like Yngwie, so I don't know why he thinks he should be able to just step up to a microphone and sing like me or anyone else."

When Green made the point that Malmsteen chooses to handle lead vocals himself because he wants to avoid conflicts with a singer, which isn't necessarily the best thing for his show, Boals said: "I tend to agree with you, as well as a lot of other people do, but he doesn't see it that way. I don't know how he got to be so lucky — he's had some of the best singers around. I mean, he's had Jeff Scott Soto, who's great. He had Joe Lynn Turner — I love Joe Lynn Turner. He's had Doogie White, another great singer. He's had Ripper Owens, another guy from Ohio, who's another great singer. And I think after that, he just stopped hiring singers after that, I guess."

Pressed about whether there is any chance he would ever work with Yngwie again, Mark said: "Well, I don't wanna say there isn't any chance in hell, but I can say when hell freezes over, like THE EAGLES did. It would require some differences in the way things are done — that's all. I always respected his talent, and I tried to get him to do things a little different, but he's a very stubborn guy, and he does what he wants. I don't see it happening, because he would have to eat a lot of crow just for admitting that he needs a singer, 'cause he has taken the position that he doesn't need a singer."

Boals is not the only former Malmsteen singer to criticize the guitarist's current stage setup. Last year, Turner told the "80's Glam Metalcast" about Yngwie's recent live shows: "He pushed the band over to the side and he's got 15, 20 amps and he's in centerstage and he's trying to sing, and I go, 'What is that?' It doesn't work. And I think for me, [as] a fan — Yngwie, I think he's a brilliant guitar player — it's just not working anymore. He's gone into a weird direction here. You can't tell people sometimes, though. What are you gonna do?"

Yngwie will release a new studio album called "Parabellum" in July.

ESCAPE THE FATE Drops Music Video For 'Lightning Strike'

ESCAPE THE FATE Drops Music Video For 'Lightning Strike'

ESCAPE THE FATE has released its seventh studio album, "Chemical Warfare", via Better Noise Music. The dynamic offering, produced by John Feldmann (BLINK-182, PANIC! AT THE DISCO, THE USED) and co-produced by the band's lead guitarist Kevin "Thrasher" Gruft, contains collaborations with alt-rock icon and BLINK-182 drummer Travis Barker and award-winning violinist Lindsey Stirling, further amplifying the band's inclusive and experimental spirit that has captured the hearts and ears of fans for over 15 years. The 12-song tracklist sees the Las Vegas-bred group creating its most lyrically empowered and sonically adventurous project yet.

"This album marks a new, empowering chapter for us as a band. As artists, it's our responsibility to capture the truth with our music. This project is our most honest and authentic to date: reflective and loud, all encompassing of the beautiful contradictions that music allows," the band said in a collective statement. "We loved working with our collaborators, including our super producer John, and our talented friends Travis and Lindsey. We can't wait for our fans to experience this body of work in full, and hopefully together with us in person soon when live music can be experienced as it should, safely with our guards down and the volume up."

ESCAPE THE FATE is also celebrating the release of the album with the premiere of the music video for one of the tracks, "Lightning Strike", on which Travis Barker plays the drums. The new visual sees the band in its most natural state — performing, knuckling down on their instruments as though their lives depend on it, and having a good time in, capturing true catharsis.

Of the track, the band says: "This is a psych-up song. It's heavy and light, fun yet meaningful - capturing that universal feeling of wanting to trap lightning in a bottle. We hope listeners will feel inspired to take control of whatever chaos is haunting them as they listen to this one."

ESCAPE THE FATE has been earning critical praise for the music of "Chemical Warfare" since last summer, with the release of the anthemic "Walk On", which also served as a soundtrack single for the acclaimed feature "Sno Babies" (released via Better Noise Films). They followed it up with the Stirling-assisted "Invincible", an energetic, sonic ride about resilience that Pure magazine called "a spectacularly vigorous and exceedingly touching alt-rock song...that packs an incredibly powerful punch." The song will appear in the upcoming Better Noise Films horror-thriller "The Retaliators". And most recently, the band kicked off 2021 with single "Not My Problem", a soulful, cathartic hard rock offering with Barker lending his drum skills to the track.

In celebration of the album's release, fans will be able to catch ESCAPE THE FATE bandmembers tonight, April 16 on their Twitch account, celebrating the album's release with a listening party at 7 p.m. PST/10 p.m. EST. Bandmembers will continue the celebration on their Twitch account tomorrow, April 17 at 7 p.m. PST/10 p.m. EST.

EVANESCENCE has also announced its next livestream event, "Driven to Perform Livestream Concert", slated for May 13. Presented by Cooper Tires and hosted by Alice Cooper, the free concert stream will include several songs from "The Bitter Truth" performed live for the first time.

Shortly after its arrival on March 26, "The Bitter Truth" rose to the top of the iTunes album charts in 22 countries. Recorded during the pandemic, it confronts the dark realities of the world head-on. Yet its resounding message is one of light, and that pushing through is better than giving up.

SERJ TANKIAN Drops Lyric Video For 'Your Mom'

SERJ TANKIAN Drops Lyric Video For 'Your Mom'

Serj Tankian has unveiled a lyric video for the song "Your Mom". The clip was directed by artist and animator David Bradford, who has worked with Tankian on solo projects as well as projects with SYSTEM OF A DOWN.

Bradford explains his concept for the "Your Mom" clip: "As I listened to the beginning of the song, with the more mellow acoustic guitar, I envisioned a brave bird flying over a countryside, unaware of the danger waiting in the ashen, war-torn lands ahead. This didn't stop the bird from gliding into danger and took the form of 'Your Mom'. As the fighters continue their campaign of destroying the Earth with their bombs and chaos, the mom summons the strength from her connection to Mother Earth and becomes the personification of justice against the fighters. She kicks their asses and returns to the form of a bird, perched on the carcasses of the destroyers and restores the Earth's balance."

"Your Mom" is the third song from Tankian's five-track EP "Elasticity" to receive a visual accompaniment, with the Los Angeles- and New Zealand-based musician previously releasing both the Vlad Kaptur-directed video for "Elasticity" and the politically charged "Electric Yerevan" video.

"Elasticity" is available now digitally and on CD, with the galaxy-colored vinyl version of the album arriving on April 30. A collection of autographed, and limited-edition "Elasticity"-themed merchandise can also be found on the Tankian webstore.

Regarding how the idea for "Elasticity" came about, Serj said: "When I conceived possibly doing another record with the guys from SYSTEM OF A DOWN a few years back, I started working on a set of songs that I arranged in rock format for that purpose. As we weren't able to see eye to eye on the vision going forward with an SOAD album, I decided to release these songs under my moniker." With his trademark eclecticism and one-of-a-kind vocal style, Serj delivers a collection that runs the gamut from hard-driving, electronically enhanced anthems like the title track, a rallying cry for his beloved Armenia ("Electric Yerevan"), the piano-laden "How Many Times?" and "Rumi", a song that Serj wrote both about his son Rumi and Rumi the poet.

SYSTEM OF A DOWN hasn't released a full-length album since the "Mezmerize" and "Hypnotize" LPs, which came out in 2005.

In 2018, guitarist Daron Malakian publicly accused Tankian of not wanting to record, with Tankian responding that creative and financial issues with Malakian led to the stalemate. In a message on Facebook, Tankian wrote that Malakian wanted to control SYSTEM's creative process, take more of the publishing money and be the only band member to speak to the press.

A singer, poet, songwriter, visual artist, film producer, activist, and composer, Tankian has always created music as an outlet to express his thoughts and feelings with a level of passion and consciousness that few in today's world of music can rival. An Armenian born in Lebanon and re-rooted in Los Angeles, Tankian was introduced to the melding of cultures, ideas, and ideals from a very young age. The principles learned from this integration and adaptation have led to his understanding of the oneness of all things and have since maneuvered and transfigured into the music and art that he lives to create. As the lead singer and songwriter for SYSTEM OF A DOWN, Serj has released five studio albums, winning a Grammy Award in 2006 for "B.Y.O.B." and selling over 40 million albums worldwide. Despite this success, Serj has never grown complacent with his art, always striving to open up new channels of sound and arrangement to articulate his artistic expressions. He has released five albums of solo material, beginning with 2007's chart-topping hard rock album "Elect The Dead". His sophomore solo album, "Imperfect Harmonies", was released in 2010, followed by "Harakiri" in 2012. 2013 saw two distinct releases from Serj, the first being the critically acclaimed "Orca Symphony No. 1", released in June of that year, followed up with the very unique "Jazz-Iz Christ" one month later.

Over the past few years, his time spent in the recording studio has been focused on creating musical scores and compositions for film and video game projects. Serj recently lent his vocals to a modern-day cover of BLUE ÖYSTER CULT's rock classic "Godzilla" for the blockbuster Michael Dougherty film "Godzilla: King Of The Monsters". He also recorded a modern version of the Armenian folk song "Sari Siroun Yar" along with the Authentic Light Orchestra for the film "The Promise", directed by Terry George and starring Christian Bale and Oscar Isaac. Serj was also brought on by Survival Pictures, the producers of the film, to serve as an executive music consultant.

Most recently, Tankian composed the full musical score for award-winning documentary "I Am Not Alone" directed by Garin Hovannisian and the upcoming Live Nation Productions film "Truth To Power", which chronicles Serj's own journey through the crossroads of music and activism. In 2017, Serj composed music for Emmy-nominated "Intent To Destroy", a gripping film directed by award winning documentarian Joe Berlinger. That same year he created an intense score for the epic Russian action film "Furious - The Legend of Kolovrat", followed by his 2018 musical score for award-winning film "Spitak", directed by Alexander Kott. Additionally, Tankian composed the full musical score for independent films "1915" and "The Last Inhabitant", an original composition for Ilya Naishuller's "Hardcore Henry" and video game musical scores for "Midnight Star" and its sequel, "Renegade", which were created by one of the chief architects of the famed "Halo" game franchise.

Serj's resume also includes the formation of a record label, Serjical Strike Records (established in 2001), which has released albums from many critically acclaimed artists, including FAIR TO MIDLAND, Buckethead and DEATH BY STEREO.

Along with fellow musician Tom Morello (RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, AUDIOSLAVE), Serj co-founded the non-profit organization Axis Of Justice in 2002, which strives to bring together musicians, music fans and grassroots political organizations to fight for social justice. He has also dabbled in the world of broadcasting as co-host of the Axis Of Justice Radio Network, which can be heard via SiriusXM and KPFK in Los Angeles. With a mission of spreading diversity and understanding through music, poetry and activism, Serj will continue to surprise and enlighten those who listen to his music and hear his words.

In recent years, Tankian has split his time between holding a mic and a paintbrush, having feverishly created over 60 pieces of art since 2013. His journey into the world of fine art began with his "Disarming Time Musical Paintings", which were exhibited at Project Gallery in Los Angeles. Since then, he has had multiple exhibitions at galleries in both the United States and New Zealand. In 2015, his artwork was exhibited at the grand opening of New Museum Los Gatos in Northern California as part of a group exhibit that ran from May through September of that year. Most recently, Serj's artwork was exhibited at two notable galleries in New Zealand during February and March of 2019.

BEWITCHER Premiere "Electric Phantoms" Music Video; Cursed Be Thy Kingdom Album Out Now

BEWITCHER Premiere "Electric Phantoms" Music Video; Cursed Be Thy Kingdom Album Out Now

At long last, Bewitcher welcomes their most diabolical offering to date. Comprising 10 songs of heavy speed metal birthed in the fires of rock 'n roll, Cursed Be Thy Kingdom is a journey to Hell and back. Don't let this fool you though, Bewitcher hasn't forgotten how to have a good time...

To mark this most joyous and unholy occasion, the band has saved the best for last... accompanying Cursed Be Thy Kingdom is the release of the fourth and final single, "Electric Phantoms". A video for the track can be seen below.

"Electric Phantoms" is classic Bewitcher, through and through. Four minutes of speed and debauchery, centred around their trademark riffs and pedal to the metal rhythm.

M von Bewitcher (vox & guitars) further comments: “Windswept highways, greasy night clubs, the smell of leather, beer and gasoline. In the glorious days when marauding heavy metal bands roam freely across the land, these things aren’t just norms...they’re the law. Take a ride with the 'Electric Phantoms' and find out for yourself what the dirty road life is all about.”

When one finds themselves at the proverbial crossroads — face-to-face with the Devil himself — who wouldn't choose the left hand path? Honestly, evil is too enticing, too strong, and hell has the best music anyway. Hailing from Portland, Oregon, heavy metal mongrels Bewitcher made their pact with Lucifer years ago, and they have been walking the dark path ever since. Rock 'n' roll is the devil's music, and through Cursed Be Thy Kingdom, Bewitcher invite you to join them at the crossroads, to drink from the chalice of rock 'n' roll, and then ritualistically sell your soul to the dark lord himself.

Recorded at The Captain's Quarters in Ventura, California by Armand John Anthony (Night Demon), and mixed by Cameron Webb (Motörhead, Megadeth), Cursed Be Thy Kingdom is a powerhouse, heavy metal x rock 'n' roll record forged in the white hot fires of hell. The cover was done by Paolo Girardi (Power Trip).

Cursed Be Thy Kingdom can be ordered in various formats here.

Former SCORPIONS Drummer JAMES KOTTAK Says Climate Change Doesn't Exist, Calls JOE BIDEN 'The Dumbest Of The Dumb'

Former SCORPIONS Drummer JAMES KOTTAK Says Climate Change Doesn't Exist, Calls JOE BIDEN 'The Dumbest Of The Dumb'

Former SCORPIONS and current KINGDOM COME drummer James Kottak has once again expressed doubt about climate change.

Apparently reacting to news reports that President Joe Biden is preparing to instruct federal agencies to take sweeping action to combat climate-related financial risks to government and the economy, including moves that could impose new regulations on businesses, Kottak took to his Twitter to write: "Biden: the dumbest of the dumb. Climate changes it's not exist so don't get worked up I don't care who you are whatever you are if you voted for Biden you made a huge mistake so look what you get".

He added in a separate tweet: "And of course I wrote it like a true dumb person it's the only way to acknowledge his lameness this guys an idiot".

Kottak previously voiced his climate change skepticism in September 2019 when he wrote in a series of since-deleted tweets: "So call India and China and call them out...Democrats just go away . We account for 1% of the worlds pollution. Get off your planes dems...dumbs

"Tell me when one time you have seen 'killed from climate change' or 'death from second hand smoke' appeared on a gravestone....and I am a total anti smoker... it's all b s"

A week later, Kottak returned to Twitter to continue to press his point, writing: "For those of us who lived through it, we were told an ice age was coming in 1978/79. Who froze? I am all about 'reduce reuse recycle repurpose' the rest is political b.s...same now . I recycle every piece of paper, containers, and have done since I was 9 years old."

The next day, he added: "Damn, doesn't anyone get it? Hollywood's middle name is LY! As in lie...jeez Zum

"Moreover, Al Gore predicted the end of civilization in 2004 all of Florida would be under water by 2012... Obama just bought a house on the shore of Martha's Vinyard for 15 million...go figure?

"So Germany made an ambitious plan with windmills years ago...they are everywhere. What now? Not enough energy ? So, now ...they are building extreme coal fired plants...like...100's of them. Just when you think the EU is all high mighty...reality..."

In the last few years, Kottak has repeatedly used Twitter as a way to voice his controversial views. In November 2019, he opined that "all law enforcement should be men." In July of that same year, he angered some people on the social media platform when he wrote that "anyone against America is a socialist communist asshole." In June 2019, Kottak, who calls himself a "news political junkie" on Twitter, made BLABBERMOUTH.NET headlines when he said that America should take care of its "homeless problem" before accepting any more "outsiders."

For much of the last three years, Kottak has been touring with the reunited KINGDOM COME, also featuring guitarists Danny Stag and Rick Steier, bassist Johnny B. Frank and singer Keith St. John (formerly of MONTROSE and LYNCH MOB).

In September 2016, Kottak was dismissed from SCORPIONS during his well-publicized battle with alcoholism and was replaced by former MOTÖRHEAD member Mikkey Dee.

SCORPIONS guitarist Matthias Jabs later said that he and his bandmates "had to make" the decision to fire Kottak, explaining that they gave the drummer "all the chances" to get better. "We reached the point — or he reached the point — where it was just not worth it," Jabs said.

MERCURY CIRCLE Feat. SWALLOW THE SUN, Ex-CHILDREN OF BODOM Members: 'You Open Up The Earth' Music Video

MERCURY CIRCLE Feat. SWALLOW THE SUN, Ex-CHILDREN OF BODOM Members: 'You Open Up The Earth' Music Video

MERCURY CIRCLE, the new band featuring former CHILDREN OF BODOM drummer Jaska Raatikainen and SWALLOW THE SUN's Jaani Peuhu, has released a music video for a song called "You Open Up The Earth".

Labeled as "a band you need to watch out for in 2021" by Metal Hammer U.K., MERCURY CIRCLE is creating a diverse offering of atmospheric and dark music where the songs differ wildly in expression and sonic aesthetics. Dark metal infused soundscapes with powerful synth and electro waves are the breeding ground for a unique journey filled with painful departures to new beginnings, a spectacle in which hope and promises echoing loss and regret.

Following their latest, critically acclaimed EP "The Dawn Of Vitriol", MERCURY CIRCLE is getting ready for the release of its highly anticipated debut studio album, due out in September via powerhouse label Noble Demon. To shorten your wait for MERCURY CIRCLE's first full- length, the band has just released a first and enthralling album single, one that will most likely leave you with a hunger for more.

"This song is a reflection of how things take seat in our lives uninvitedly and change our fate forever," the band explains and continues: "Especially during these times of incredible adversity, we hope to give a voice to the feelings those situations elicit while they oftentimes leave us speechless."

With a versatile arrangement of sounds, and a message that couldn't have been more fitting in these days, it almost seems as if it's no surprise that this track has become the first harbinger to the album, as founder and mastermind Jaani Peuhu reveals.

"At a pretty early stage in the writing process, I started feeling that 'You Open Up The Earth' had to be the opening single of the album," he said. "Not only made the message of the song sense considering the state the world has been in for more than a year now, but it also seemed like a good introduction to the record: combining heavy, dark and melodic elements with a little piece of our unearthly atmosphere and a big chorus. We had more than 20 songs to choose from for the album and most of the tracks were about to be dropped from the record at some point, but this one felt like an important piece of our debut the whole time since I wrote it."

He continues: "There was a funny situation during the recordings of 'You Open Up The Earth' when I was working on the string arrangements and realized that we need violins to compliment Teemu Mastovaara's super-cool cellos. I mentioned it in our band chat, and then our guitar player Jussi casually answered that he could play them… Although he hadn't played in years, he recorded the most beautiful violin tracks for this special song. My bandmates keep on surprising me with their talent. We have this mentality that everybody can do everything and there are no bad ideas. We try out every idea, and even if it doesn't work, it might lead us to something that actually does and sounds amazing. We don't want to play safe. Been there, done that. Never again. Not with this band."

Having spent 26 years recording and touring the world with CHILDREN OF BODOM, it was hard for Jaska to make any concrete plans regarding his future since quitting the band in 2019, but all of this changed when he heard the demos by Peuhu.

"After hearing the demo tracks from the upcoming debut album, I thought it would be stupid not to join this band," Jaska said. "The music was something I hadn't heard for a long time. Dark, emotional, epic elements and big choruses.

"I am truly excited for the opportunity to be part of this. I know it is a long way to the top, but with these guys I feel honored and ready to do it again."

MERCURY CIRCLE is:

* Jaani Peuhu (ICONCRASH, SWALLOW THE SUN, HALLATAR) - Vocals, Guitars, Synths

* Jussi Hämäläinen (Hanging Garden, The Chant) - Guitars, Synths, Backing vocals

* Juppe Sutela (TO/DIE/FOR) - Guitars

* Ande Kiiski (SLEEP OF MONSTERS, RYTMIHÄIRIÖ) - Bass

* Jaska Raatikainen (CHILDREN OF BODOM) - Drums

STARSET Releases Amazon Original Cover Of LED ZEPPELIN's 'Kashmir'

STARSET Releases Amazon Original Cover Of LED ZEPPELIN's 'Kashmir'

STARSET has released an Amazon Original cover of LED ZEPPELIN's "Kashmir". A staple of LED ZEPPELIN's live show since its release in 1975, fans can hear STARSET's take on the classic song only on Amazon Music.

"'Kashmir' has always been my very favorite LED ZEPPELIN song," says STARSET founder Dustin Bates. "The massive epic blend of soaring exotic strings and hard-hitting rock entranced me from the very first time I heard it as a kid and I've loved it ever since. Still, when it came time to picking a song to cover for Amazon, I was hesitant to put the song on the list of possibilities because — it's ZEPPELIN. The band is amazing, the songs do not need improving, and many of the ZEPPELIN fans are sure to consider the song sacrosanct.

"So when I met up with Rob Graves, who produced the track, I initially suggested a number of other songs. It wasn't until the evening of our first day working in the studio when I — essentially in passing — mentioned us having played a quick and dirty version of the song live for fun on a recent tour. Rob seemed to light up, explaining that 'Kashmir' had actually inspired him in a very similar way to what it had me. Once that was realized, it was essentially set in stone that, for better or worse, we had to do the song. So we did. And we did our thing, and we had a great time doing it. (Rob does attest that he referenced our YouTube fan recordings of our live performances of the track and would have nixed the idea had he not been happy with how decently we had pulled it off.)

"I've always heard 'Kashmir' as being one of the heaviest and most expansive ZEPPELIN songs, and Rob and I figured why not make it even heavier and bigger. Hopefully people enjoy it — a version never intended to 'beat' or 'improve' the original, but give it a STARSET spin while paying homage to one of the greatest — if not the greatest — rock bands of all time."

Formed in 2013 by Columbus, Ohio vocalist/keyboardist Dustin Bates, STARSET's first album, "Transmissions", debuted at No. 49 on the Billboard 200 chart, one of the highest-charting debuts for a rock band in 2014. The group's intricately crafted sci-fi backstory piqued the interest of fans, and they subsequently released the concept album "Vessels" in 2017, followed by "Divisions" in 2019. Their song "Monster" peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard U.S. Mainstream Rock chart in May 2017, and by 2020, the band had received over two billion streams worldwide.

Amazon Music listeners can find STARSET's "Kashmir" on the playlist "Rock Scene," the best place to find the most exciting new rock music from around the world. "Kashmir" is now available to all Amazon Music customers, and customers of Amazon Music HD can hear the track in Ultra HD, the highest quality streaming audio available. SILVERSTEIN Releases New Single And Video 'Bankrupt'

SILVERSTEIN Releases New Single And Video 'Bankrupt'

Just after celebrating 20 years together, post-hardcore outfit SILVERSTEIN has hit us with a standout, anthemic new single and video, "Bankrupt".

Last year's milestone marked two decades of relentlessly pushing themselves from their underground roots to becoming one of the most influential bands in their scene. As SILVERSTEIN set out on their official worldwide 20th-anniversary tour to celebrate, the COVID-19 pandemic arrived, forcing them, along with so many others, to drop everything and take shelter back in their respective hometowns. As 2020 took a turn to being a horrible time for most, the band were hit with an onslaught of rage as they watched the select few in elevated positions leverage their power, and opportunistically kick us while we were down.

SILVERSTEIN took its fury into the studio and continued writing all throughout lockdown — "Bankrupt" being the first look into those sessions. The track proves the bands' roots in punk are firm in place. Guitarist and songwriter Paul Marc explains: "I don't know how to feel anything but rage anymore. The rich are getting richer and poor are getting poorer. Wages are stagnant, tuition costs are rising, jobs are being automated/off-shored, costs of a home are laughable in most major cities. The walls feel like they're closing in and escape is starting to feel impossible. Two-faced leaders and greedy elected officials line their pockets while stripping funding for the programs that we actually need. What are we supposed to do now? Looking out for one another on a community level is good, but changing a crooked system is better."

"Bankrupt" is available via UNFD across all digital platforms today along with its official video that was directed by longtime friend and collaborator Wyatt Clough. Watch below as Clough captures an explosive performance from the band using mostly 16mm Kodak (Double-X 7222) film.

SILVERSTEIN is Shane Told (vocals), Paul Marc Rousseau and Josh Bradford (guitars), Billy Hamilton (bass), Paul Koehler (drums). They are currently set to head back out on the road to finish their 20th-anniversary tour this fall.

RUSH's 'The Spirit Of Radio' Covered By THE POLYPHONIC SPREE

RUSH's 'The Spirit Of Radio' Covered By THE POLYPHONIC SPREE

THE POLYPHONIC SPREE has just released its performance of "The Spirit Of Radio" by RUSH, the 1980 hit song by the legendary Canadian rock band. The song will be featured on "Afflatus", THE POLYPHONIC SPREE's new album of cover songs, due out tomorrow (Friday, April 16).

"'The Spirit Of Radio' actually goes back to high school," explains THE POLYPHONIC SPREE frontman Tim DeLaughter. "I covered it with my high school band, REGENCY, so for nostalgic reasons, we thought it would be fun to try it with THE SPREE."

THE POLYPHONIC SPREE's first full-length album since 2014's "Psychphonic", "Afflatus" was recorded live in one evening at the band's home studio, just before the 2020 lockdown, and features covers of INXS, Barry Manilow, THE ROLLING STONES, ABBA, and more.

Having just celebrated its 20th anniversary as a band, THE POLYPHONIC SPREE is currently at work on a new full-length album of original material, slated for release this fall.

Featuring a range of material from a diverse group of artists that all hold a special significance to the band, the track list includes songs like "She's A Rainbow" by THE ROLLING STONES — a staple of THE POLYPHONIC SPREE's live set for years — as well as songs that fans have never heard before, like "Could It Be Magic" by Barry Manilow, which holds a special significance to DeLaughter.

"A lot of the music I'm attracted to, melodically speaking, can be traced back to my younger years," he explains. "I was running my dad's business on the weekends as a kid, and there was this cassette of Barry Manilow songs that I played over and over. I loved the grandiose, high-reaching production for essentially a pop song."

"It was inevitable that THE SPREE would end up doing this," adds DeLaughter. "We were asked to play a covers show at The Kessler Theater in Dallas and were ready to go, but with the shutdowns starting to happen around the country, we made the last-minute call not to perform. We had all been together for weeks rehearsing, so we decided to get the band together at our home studio and record the entire show live in one take, just to capture it. We knew it was probably going to be the last time we saw each other for a long time, and the next day, everything started to close."

The album opens with "Don't Change" by INXS, which the band first performed on their 2010 tour of Australia.

"We wanted to pay homage to one of their country's great artists,” DeLaughter adds, "but it's also just an awesome song. I love its forward moving, almost gliding feel."

THE POLYPHONIC SPREE's upcoming, full-length album will be their first release of original material since 2013's "Yes, It's True".

"Afflatus" track listing:

01. Don't Change (INXS)

02. You Put My Love Out The Door (DANIEL JOHNSTON)

03. She's A Rainbow (THE ROLLING STONES)

04. Run To Me (BEE GEES)

05. The Porpoise Song (THE MONKEES)

06. Could It Be Magic (Barry Manilow)

07. The Visitors (ABBA)

08. Let Em In (WINGS)

09. Never My Love (THE ASSOCIATION)

10. The Spirit Of Radio (RUSH)

Updated: WHITESNAKE Is Working On Christmas Music

Updated: WHITESNAKE Is Working On Christmas Music

**UPDATE**: After this article was originally published earlier today, WHITESNAKE frontman David Coverdale took to his Twitter to clarify that the Christmas project will not be a full-length album. "Nope...not an album...Sorry...", he wrote. "I'm working on a couple of festive ditties...Not quite sure how to record with my guys remotely...But, def worth trying...:)"

The original article follows below.

WHITESNAKE frontman David Coverdale is working on a Christmas album, to be released in time for the holidays.

The news of WHITESNAKE's upcoming yuletide collection was broken by guitarist Reb Beach during an appearance Tuesday (April 13) on SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk".

Asked if WHITESNAKE still has any live shows on the books, now that the coronavirus pandemic appears to be waning in some parts of the United States, Reb said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "David hasn't said anything about any live shows. The only thing… He texted me last week and wants me to come over and do a Christmas record. He loves Christmas — he's really into old St. Nick. He wants to do some Christmas stuff, which is great. He's writing it now, so he wants to have it out by Christmastime. It might be kind of a 'risqué' Christmas album. And then I'm sure he's gonna wanna go out and do some stuff next year."

This past February, Coverdale told Meltdown of Detroit's WRIF radio station that he has been forced to delay his retirement tour due to the coronavirus pandemic which is sweeping the globe.

"People, as you can imagine, are extraordinarily desperate to go to shows and to perform shows," he said. "It's just not safe, and it's not gonna be the energy, the atmosphere that we're familiar with. We have to make sure [to] work as a global community, and, for me, as a global artist, work together and be, as they would say, in solidarity with each other and support each other and respect each other. It's a global pandemic — it's not just us. And mask up. Let's get out of this. Get vaccinated, and let's get out of this thing.

"I don't think it's ever gonna be the same," he continued. "I think society has changed. This has been a really challenging time for people who have been alone, I think. And that's a lot of my target audience with my social media — to try to uplift people's spirits, until I can get out there and truly do my appreciation and gratitude tour. And hopefully while I'm still physically able to do it and not just farting dust."

David spent the first couple of months of the year promoting "The Blues Album", the third and final release in WHITESNAKE's "Red, White And Blues" trilogy, a series of compilations organized by musical themes that began last year with "Love Songs" (red) and "The Rock Album" (white).

"The Blues Album" was released on February 19 digitally and on CD and as a double-LP set pressed on 180-gram, blue vinyl. Like "The Rock Album" and "Love Songs", all the tracks on "The Blues Album" have been revisited, remixed, and remastered.

Early last year, WHITESNAKE was forced to cancel its U.S. tour with SAMMY HAGAR & THE CIRCLE and NIGHT RANGER so that Coverdale could undergo surgery for bilateral inguinal hernia. Eventually, all of the shows were canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Coverdale, who will turn 70 this coming September, had both his knees replaced with titanium in 2017 after suffering from degenerative arthritis. He later explained that he was in so much pain with arthritis in his knees that it hampered his ability to perform live.

WHITESNAKE had been touring in support of its latest album, "Flesh & Blood", which was released in May 2019 via Frontiers Music Srl.

Nope...not an album...Sorry...I’m working on a couple of festive ditties...Not quite sure how to record with my guys remotely...But, def worth trying...:) https://t.co/Sxl3AlX2dB

METALLICA - KIRK HAMMETT's Signed Glow In The Dark "Ouija Board" Guitar At Auction; Estimated To Fetch $300,000 - $350,000

METALLICA - KIRK HAMMETT's Signed Glow In The Dark "Ouija Board" Guitar At Auction; Estimated To Fetch $300,000 - $350,000

Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett's number one glow in the dark Oujia Board guitar is up for auction at Gotta Have Rock And Roll, with a minimum bid of $225,000. The guitar is expected to sell for $300,000 - $350,000.

Description: It was around 1990 that Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett first approached ESP with the idea of a guitar that made use of graphic elements from Hasbro’s classic Ouija® mystical board game. Back then, before the age of digital cameras and internet communication, creating a guitar like this took some ingenuity. They got a Ouija® board, and used a combination of a copy machine and a pair of scissors to properly position the art elements on the guitar’s body. ESP faxed the result to their ESP Custom Shop in Japan, and the rest is history: the Ouija™ guitar became one of the most well-known and coveted signature models in ESP history.

This very guitar was Hammett's number one instrument throughout the 1990s. He played and used this guitar on stage frequently. The guitar was used extensively for the albums: Load, Reload, Garage Inc., The Black Album and S&M. This can be considered one of the most important guitars in the history of metal music.

This guitar came directly from Kirk Hammett, with photographs of Hammett presenting the guitar to the current owner. Additional photographs of Hammett writing the history of the guitar on the back of the instrument are also included. The guitar comes with one of Kirk's stage used guitar straps that he signed as well as the original touring guitar case. The value of this guitar cannot be understated as this is the most important Metallica guitar to ever surface in public auction. The guitar is in very good condition. The guitar comes with the original photographs of Hammett presenting the guitar to the current owner, the signed stage used guitar strap and the original touring case. Also comes with a Gotta Have Rock & Roll Certificate of Authenticity.

Place your bid at Gotta Have Rock And Roll.
