DEF LEPPARD's PHIL COLLEN On New Single 'Just Like 73': 'It's Got A Real Glam Rock Feel And A Vibe To It'
DEF LEPPARD has released a short video in which the five members of the band discuss their latest single, "Just Like 73". The track, which features a guest guitar solo from Tom Morello, can be heard below.
Bassist Rick Savage said: "'Just Like 73', I first heard it when it was a demo and it nearly got released for the 'Diamond Star Halos' album."
Guitarist Phil Collen added: "It's got a real glam rock feel and a vibe to it. We went for the [1970s producer] Mike Leander drum sound, which was really cool in the very early '70s and kind of mixed it with SLADE-type backing vocal, which is kind of really shouty, loud and aggressive, almost like football-hooligan kind of chant."
Singer Joe Elliott chimed in: "Because of it being based around that whole kind of '73 vibe — it was glammy, very British glam — I wanted to write a lyric that kind of reflected that."
Added guitarist Vivian Campbell: "When I first heard 'Just Like 73', I couldn't get it out of my head. It's a really, really catchy song."
Drummer Rick Allen said: "First time I heard the demo, at least, it conjured up everything that I heard from back in the day, back in '73."
Campbell added: "It's a good-time song. It's a celebration of what was an incredible era in music."
Collen said: "In a nutshell, it's when we got baptized into music."
"Just Like 73" arrives on seven-inch vinyl on August 2, 2024 and will be available in a special color variant only through the band's D2C store and in black at all retailers.
"Just Like 73" notably marks the first collaboration between the iconic rock titans and the legendary guitarist, sonic innovator and co-founder of RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE and AUDIOSLAVE. The single revolves around a classic DEF LEPPARD stomp fueled by a robust stadium-size beat, thick riffing, and a signature chant, "Rock with me, just like 73!" Meanwhile, a knockout gang vocal gives way to a signature fret-scorching solo from Morello. The instantly recognizable whammy bar wheezes as he shreds at lightspeed into one last head-nodding hook.
Of the collaboration, Elliott previously shared: "It encapsulates a time that burned deep into our DNA. We wanted to celebrate that very important and glorious time."
DEF LEPPARD guitarist Phil Collen adds: "When I saw David Bowie on TV between 1972 and 1973, everything I thought I knew about music went from black and white to vivid Technicolor. Our song 'Just Like 73' represents that awakening."
Morello said: "I had a blast rocking a solo on 'Just Like 73'. I played 'Rock Of Ages' in my college cover band almost 40 years ago and here DEF LEPPARD are still killing it in stadiums with a brand new tune that's one of their best."
Next up, DEF LEPPARD will present a high-octane animated music video for "Just Like 73", premiering on June 20 at 16:00 BST. It features the band (and Morello) like you've never seen them before.
DEF LEPPARD teased "Just Like 73" on social media earlier this month, sharing an image with two different phone numbers for U.S. and U.K. fans to call.
"Light up the fuel. Just Like 73. Hotline Now Open," the band wrote in an accompanying caption.
Fans who called the phone numbers were able to hear Elliott singing lyrics from the song, which marks the band's first new original music since 2022's "Diamond Star Halos" album.
DEF LEPPARD's 23-city trek with JOURNEY is scheduled to begin on July 6 in St. Louis, Missouri and continue through September 8 in Denver, Colorado. Along the way, the two Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductees will bring their show to stadiums in major cities like Chicago, Nashville, Boston, Toronto, New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco and more. CHEAP TRICK will play two shows at the beginning of the tour and two concerts at the end of the trek, while STEVE MILLER BAND will join the bill for the majority of shows and HEART will appear on three dates.
Elliott previously shared that DEF LEPPARD's set on the 2024 tour will celebrate specific parts of the rockers' history. "We may even have a surprise or two up our sleeves," he said in a statement.
JOURNEY recently completed a number of dates as part of its 50th-anniversary "Freedom" tour.
The DEF LEPPARD/JOURNEY tour is being promoted by AEG Entertainment.
Both bands are offering VIP packages through their respective web sites.
DEF LEPPARD's VIP experiences include a premium seat, personal photo with the band, exclusive merchandise and more.
DEF LEPPARD's 12th studio album, "Diamond Star Halos", came out in 2022. A year later, the band followed it up with "Drastic Symphonies", a collection of reimagining of some of DEF LEPPARD's greatest hits with London's Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at Abbey Road. The album spent 15 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Current Classical chart.
DEF LEPPARD's 2022 stadium tour across North America with MÖTLEY CRÜE reportedly sold more than 1.3 million tickets.

Watch CREED Perform On 'Good Morning America' And 'GMA3'
On Monday, June 17, reunited rockers CREED played their classic hit "Higher" on "Good Morning America" and "My Sacrifice" on the afternoon spin-off of "Good Morning America" called "GMA3". Watch video of both performances below.
With more than 53 million albums sold worldwide, CREED remains one of modern rock's most successful acts. Now, 30 years into their incredible journey, CREED is bigger than ever. In late 2023, the Texas Rangers made "Higher" their unofficial anthem, as it spurred them to their first World Series win. Earlier this year, the song appeared in a high-profile Paramount+ Super Bowl commercial, while a NASCAR Daytona 500 campaign also incorporated the hit single. Along the way, CREED has gained a new generation of fans, thanks to countless TikTok videos that feature their songs.
Last summer, after an 11-year hiatus, CREED announced their long-awaited reunion — returning to the stage for the first time in April 2024 at the sold-out Summer Of '99 cruise and Summer Of '99 And Beyond cruise. In May, meanwhile, the band's multiplatinum-selling "Greatest Hits" collection made its wide debut on vinyl (via Craft),this month landing the collection back into the Billboard Top 200 (currently No. 166, in a list of the most consumed albums in the U.S.),as well as hitting Top Hard Rock & Alternative Albums (No.48),Top Alternative Albums (No. 21),and moving up the Top Hard Rock Albums rankings (No. 11). Originally issued in 2004, the 14-track compilation spans the band's first three albums (1997's "My Own Prison", 1999's "Human Clay" and 2001's "Weathered"). In the months ahead, fans can catch the band on their "Summer Of '99" tour, running from July through September, where they'll be joined by the likes of 3 DOORS DOWN, FINGER ELEVEN, SWITCHFOOT, FUEL, BIG WRECK and DAUGHTRY. The band will be heading into arenas this November and December on the "Are You Ready?" tour with 3 DOORS DOWN and MAMMOTH WVH in the U.S. and MAMMOTH WVH and FINGER ELEVEN in Canada.
In a recent interview with Ryan McCredden of the I-Rock 93.5 radio station, singer Scott Stapp spoke about the fact that younger generations of fans have discovered CREED's music in the 12 years since he and his bandmates played their last concert. He said: "Yeah, a hundred percent. And the analytics don't lie. We've started seeing, in late 2020, CREED beginning to go viral on TikTok, Instagram and then Facebook. And then it just seemed like every two or three months… The first couple months in 2021, we went viral again, and it just kept happening every two or three months. And then you look at the analytics, and you realize that when you look at the numbers, it's three generations. And now it's gotten down into high school kids. And so, what a gift and what a blessing. And I do not take that for granted. I understand how rare that that is. And I think I can speak for all of CREED, because we've had these conversations in private, that it's something we definitely understand is a gift, it's rare and we're not taking it for granted and we're just so grateful and appreciative that this has happened. And I think we're in the nurture phase of this whole thing and not taking a single bit of it for granted and just want to just share how grateful we are and fortunate we are that all these years later [so many people are discovering our music."
Stapp went on to discuss the overwhelmingly positive response to the announcement of CREED's first shows together in 12 years.
"I learned this from Mark [Tremonti, guitar] the other day in a Guitar World interview that we did together," Scott said. "One thing about Mark, and I hope he doesn't get mad at me for sharing, but he's always in touch with our long-term agent from day one, Ken Fermaglich at UTA. He started with us when we were doing clubs and nobody was showing up, and he's still our agent today. And Mark checks in with him to get analytics and get numbers. And Ken shared with him that right now we are bigger in terms of sales and how things are moving than we were at our peak in 2001, 2002, which blows my mind. It still doesn't seem that way to me, but Mark made a comment. He goes, 'Oh, well, you'll see it when you step out and there's 25,000 people in front of you.' And I said, 'Don't scare me, man.' It's been a long time since I've stepped in front of an audience that big."
When McCredden suggested that "the social media world of TikTok and Instagram" played a huge part in generating interest in a CREED reunion tour, Stapp said: "I've learned in my journey in sobriety and in recovery that… I believe in God and I believe that God has a plan. And looking at this from a thousand-foot perspective, it just all just seems, to me, without a doubt that God's had a hand in it. And I'm just grateful that I'm included on the ride and I'm just not gonna take a moment for granted and [I'm gonna] try to deliver every night and give the fans what they're asking for." | +1

See 4K Video Of ACE FREHLEY's Entire Concert In Charles Town, West Virginia
JPL Productions has uploaded 4K video of Ace Frehley's entire June 15 concert at the Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races in Charles Town, West Virginia. Check it out below.
Setlist:
* Shock Me (KISS song)
* Shout It Out Loud (KISS song)
* Cherry Medicine
* Rock Soldiers (FREHLEY’S COMET song)
* Love Gun (KISS song)
* Rocket Ride (KISS song)
* 10,000 Volts
* Parasite (KISS song)
* New York Groove (Russ Ballard cover)
* Rip It Out
* Detroit Rock City (KISS song)
* Cold Gin (KISS song)
* Ace Frehley Guitar Solo
* Strange Ways (KISS song)
* Deuce (KISS song)
* Rock And Roll All Nite (KISS song)
The original KISS guitarist played his song "Cherry Medicine" live for the first time during his concert on May 26 at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut.
Frehley released the official music video for "Cherry Medicine" in February. The clip was directed by Justin H. Reich of Three Thirty-Three Creative and produced by Reich and Steve Seabury.
On "Cherry Medicine", a mean palm-muted chug underlines Ace's pensive vocals where he confesses, "I knew I had to change my ways for sure to keep you by my side." The track showcases another side of Frehley with its saccharine and sweet, soaring hook as he promises, "I love you, cherry medicine. You heal my every need and some." He seals the sentiment with another powerhouse solo.
"Cherry Medicine" is taken from Ace's latest solo album, "10,000 Volts", which was released in February via MNRK Music Group (formerly eOne Music). The LP was produced by Ace and Steve Brown (TRIXTER).
In an interview with "Loudwire Nights", Ace described "Cherry Medicine" as a "fun, easygoing rock and roll song, not too complicated to play. And kids can gravitate towards that, especially kids that have only been playing guitar for a couple of years. The only tricky part about it is capturing my guitar solos."
Ace previously praised "10,000 Volts", telling VRP Rocks: "I'm very happy with the way the record turned out. Now, a lot of times I've recorded records where sometimes you look at three or four songs on the album and you consider them not as good as some of the other ones and you kind of consider them as filler. But I don't think there's any filler on this album. I think every song has merit to it."
He added: "I think it's one of the best albums I ever did. I mean, I think it's probably as good as my solo album in 1978, which everybody seems to think is my best album to date. But I think this new album is equally as good as my 1978 solo album, and I think there's more than one hit single on the album."
Ace's new all-original album is the follow-up to "Spaceman", which was released in October 2018 via eOne.
KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons co-wrote two tracks on "Spaceman", "Without You I'm Nothing" and "Your Wish Is My Command", the latter of which also features Gene's bass playing.
Frehley recently revealed that his next release will be a third "Origins" volume, covering songs by artists who influenced him. He will once again work with Brown on the project, which is tentatively due in 2025.
In an interview with Billboard, Frehley said that he is at one of the best points of his career. "Y'know, here I am at age [73] and I'm putting out one of the best records I've ever recorded," he said. "The playing is great and the singing is some of the best vocals I've ever done. It really doesn't make any sense, but I'm the kind of guy that's always broken rules, y'know?"

PETE LORAN Says It Was 'Pretty Stupid' Of His TRIXTER Bandmates To 'Annihilate Each Other' In The Press
In a new interview with Waste Some Time With Jason Green, TRIXTER frontman Pete Loran was asked about the recent war of words between the band's drummer Mark "Gus" Scott and TRIXTER's only two actively touring members, guitarist/vocalist Steve Brown and bassist P.J. Farley. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Well, as far as beef with Gus and those guys, that went to a whole level during interviews where they were just annihilating each other. I think that was pretty stupid on everybody's part. Hopefully they're all past that. There's bad blood between a couple of those guys that I don't know if that's ever gonna get fixed."
Asked if there is any truth to online rumors that Gus tried to trademark the TRIXTER name behind the other members' backs after Brown let it lapse a few years ago, Pete said: "I'm not 100 percent sure about that… I'm thinking there's a lot more going on there than just what you think — probably years and years of stuff that just erupted. So, as far as I'm concerned, I'm good with everybody."
Loran, who is now based in Arizona, went on to say that he has no problems with Brown and Farley actively touring under the TRIXTER name — backed by Ben Hans on percussion — without him and Scott being involved. "I'm great with that," he said. "I'm all for it, and I'm glad they're doing it. I don't have the time to dedicate to it. Between stuff I have going on at home… Several years back my kids were both in their teens, two boys, so to do fly-out dates every weekend and be gone from Thursday to Monday or whatever it is, I felt like I was missing a lot of time there where things could go sideways, especially with kids at that age, so I wanted to be around for that. And also just financially, it wasn't gonna make things work for me anyway. So I stepped back, and I told those guys, 'Do your thing.' And it started out as acoustic TRIXTER, but it's really not. They call it TRIXTER, which is fine with me. I have no problem with that at all."
Asked who sings the TRIXTER songs for the Brown-Farley touring version of the band, Loran said: "Steve does. Steve sings them. And he sings them real good. I mean, for all intents and purposes, they're his songs. Most of the melodies, lyrics, they're all his anyway. I'm the voice known to sing those songs from most of the people, but he has no problem getting up there every night and doing them. Some of those songs are real tough to sing. And he's doing a great job with it. As a matter of fact, they were here [in Arizona] in March, and P.J. had reached out to me and said, 'Hey, we're coming through Phoenix area. You should come down and say hello.' And I had seen him. Several months before that he was coming through here on a tour with FOZZY with [Chris] Jericho. And it was the first time I had seen him in a while, and it was good for us. So we stayed in touch, and then he said, 'You wanna come down?' I said, 'I'll come down.' He goes, 'You wanna jump up and do a few songs?' And I was like, 'Oh, shit. Yeah. Now I got to.' So, I did do that. I jumped up and did a few songs. I hadn't seen Steve in years. That was good. We needed to see each other and just look each other in the eye and go, 'We're good. We're all good.' So that went really well, actually. And it was great for the fans that were there; they weren't really expecting that. And it was surreal for me to sit back there and watch those guys playing those songs. And I'm going, like, 'This is very strange.' But once I got up there with them, it was just like riding a bike."
Late last month, Pete released a solo single, "Around Again", which can be streamed below.
On March 22, Loran joined Brown and Farley on stage at The 44 Sports Grill And Nightlife in Glendale, Arizona to perform a couple of TRIXTER songs.
Speaking to Sonic Perspectives about how Loran's guest appearance came about, Brown said: "Man, it was awesome. We've talked, and let's just get everything straight: there's no bad blood between me and Pete. He's my brother. I love him. Like any family member, we have had our disagreements, but we always come back. And I hadn't seen him in seven years, and I walk in the dressing room, and there he is. And within 30 seconds, we revert back to the '80s when we were kids and the same jokes. And there was no question. We didn't say, 'Hey, do you wanna work on anything?' He came out after seven years — I don't think he's been on stage — and he crushed it. He sounded great. He looked great. And it was so much fun to have him."
Regarding the possibility of Loran making more appearances with TRIXTER in the future, Brown said: "Pete is always welcome to come out and play with us. And you never know what's going to happen." Steve then seemingly downplayed the likelihood of Pete performing with TRIXTER on a more permanent basis again, saying: "Hey, man, he's so happy in his life. His kids are doing great. He was telling me about his son. He's doing great. And that's ultimately what it's all about.
"Being a traveling musician, rock and roller, it's not for everybody," Brown explained. "It's easy when you're number one on MTV and you're playing arenas every night.
"P.J. and I, after it all fell apart in the '90s, we looked at each other and it was, like, 'All right, what are we doing now musically. And we started THROWAN ROCKS and we started a cover band and we started this cover band SUGARBELLY that went on for 10 years and we made a lot of money and that's how we supported ourselves as musicians. Some people get away from it, whether they want to go work for a car dealer or they want to be Indian chiefs or lawyers or whatever, that's all well and good. Music, for me, is life. It's in my blood. It's in my heart."
Both Brown and Farley have been critical of Scott in recent interviews, with Steve saying that the drummer is on "the shit list beyond belief" with the rest of the group, while P.J. compared being in a band with Mark to owning a disobedient dog. "Sometimes you let the dog off a leash and he just goes running to the middle of the street — no good," he said.
Since reuniting in 2008, TRIXTER has released two studio albums via Frontiers Music Srl — 2012's "New Audio Machine" and 2015's "Human Era".
TRIXTER toured extensively in the United States, Canada and Japan in support of its five major label releases. They have performed live in arenas and amphitheaters with crowds up to 35,000 people, appearing with such rock superstars as KISS, SCORPIONS, POISON, TED NUGENT, NIGHT RANGER, CINDERELLA, TWISTED SISTER, DOKKEN, WARRANT, GREAT WHITE and FIREHOUSE.

TED NUGENT: 'To Be Against Hunting Is To Literally Have No Soul'
Rock musician and hunting enthusiast Ted Nugent, who recently lost his beloved family dog Happy, spoke out in support of hunting rights during an appearance on the latest episode of The Chuck Shute Podcast. Referencing the fact that he cried for days after Happy died, Ted said in part (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I eat venison. I don't eat dogs. [Former U.S. president] Barack Obama eats dogs, but I don't eat dogs. And I have some friends in Vietnam and China that eat dogs, and it's meat. If that's what you wanna eat, but we don't have that relationship with our dogs. Even though if you go to a Chinese restaurant, I promise you you're gonna eat dogs at some point and cats. The point is, is that I'm a hunter, a fisherman and trapper. I harvest the surplus to maintain a healthy environment. Anybody who's got a problem with that is like brain dead. You've gotta be the dumbest motherfucker on the planet to think you can stop hunting for one season. I donate tons of venison, which is the purest, most healthy, nutritious, delicious protein in the world. [My wife] Shemane and I, and my son, my family, we donate tons of venison to soup kitchens and homeless shelters. Do you really know somebody that has a problem with that? Can you realize how soulless, how nasty a person would have to be to go, 'Well, you shouldn't feed the homeless venison.' [Laughs] Fuck you. "
Regarding the fact that hunting is often criticized for being inhumane and cruel to animals, Ted said: "As a hunter, fisherman and trapper, I provide the most humane, conscientious, moral, quick death of anything that dies in nature. When you don't hunt, disease runs in, distemper and rabies.
"When I drove to Detroit yesterday to jam with a bunch of guys, and even going 100 miles an hour in my Hellcat, I counted, just visible, 111 dead deer. I couldn't keep up with the raccoons and the possums and the skunks and the other dead [animals]. I mean, there's death every 50 feet. So if you stop hunting for one year, can you imagine the terror, the harm, the painful, agonizing death from cars and disease and overpopulation?
"To be against hunting is to literally have no soul," he continued. "You have no soul. And quite honestly, my son Rocco is a vegan and his new fiancée, they're vegans. They have dietary considerations. I have no problem with that. I've never said, 'You have to eat meat,' but some of these nutcases go, 'You're cruel for eating deer.' No, you're cruel for being against a meaningful science-based harvest of the deer, because they're having fawns now, and if I didn't kill a bunch of deer on my swamp, there'd be no room for those fawns and they would eat all the prime vegetation and they would end up…
"I'm a hunter and I couldn't be more proud," Ted added. "In fact, there's a gay pride month. Is that what that is? Well, I'm having a hunter pride month. I'm celebrating that I'm a hunter and I'm proud to be an American hunter. And anybody that's got a problem with that, shut the fuck up."
Nugent went on to criticize animal rights activists, saying: "The animal rights thing is a scam. The humane society in the United States has never saved an animal. All they do is they try to take advantage of people's ignorance and emotion and get [a lot of] people to make gargantuan donations. And then they don't do anything except pay them big salaries and fly across the country. It's a scam. If you really wanna do the right thing for an animal… if you wanna find someone that is kind, loving and supportive and humane to animals, I give you the ranchers and farmers, the family ranchers and farmers, the hunting families, the fishing families, the trapping families. If you don't harvest the surplus, the new production will have nowhere to live. It's so simple, even guitar players can figure it out.
"You've gotta reduce the fish population in any body of water because they're going to reproduce and the body of water is only so large," he explained. "It'll only support so much life. Do I have to say this in 2024? How embarrassing that I have to explain the simplicity of sustained yield science.
"Hunting, fishing, and trapping is the ultimate beneficial environmentalism available to man. If you want clean air, soil and water — it's insane I have to say this; it is not taught in schools, thanks to the teacher's union — if you want clean air, soil and water, and I think everybody wants clean air, soil and water, the best thing you can do is to buy a hunting license, a fishing license and a trapping license because all of our money goes to safeguard habitat, determine the sustained yield science of the annual harvest so that they don't deplete that wildlife habitat, which is the only source of producing clean air, soil and water. So if you want clean air, soil and water, thank a hunter, thank a fisherman, thank a trapper, 'cause that's what we do."
Back in 2018, Nugent defended trophy hunting, calling it "the ultimate discipline and test and sport on Earth." However, he stressed that it is most important that nothing is wasted and that the hunter uses every part of the animal. He also said that hunters get a bad rap thanks to the media. "Trophy hunters don't cut off the head and leave the body there [like] the media and the fake-news punks have perpetuated," Nugent told podcaster Mitch Lafon.
In 2015, Nugent drew the ire of animal rights activists after he posted a photo of fellow rocker Kid Rock posing with a cougar he'd presumably killed.
Nugent, a longtime board member of the National Rifle Association, fanned the flames with a comment that both insulted animal welfare supporters ("braindead squawkers") and boasted about their "trophy."
That same year, Ted defended the killing of Cecil the lion by American trophy hunter Walter Palmer, saying people were "stupid" for being outraged about the animal's death. He called lions "a renewable resource."
On Facebook, he commented: "All animals reproduce every year & would run out of room/food to live [without] hunting. The animals have more animals EVERY year!! Where would liars propose they live!!"
The 75-year-old Nugent has in the past referred to Barack Obama as a "subhuman mongrel." The musician later apologized for using "street-fighter terminology" and said he wished he used "more understandable language," such as "violator of his oath to the Constitution."

DIEGO CAVALLOTTI Says His Exit From LACUNA COIL Is 'Not The Result' Of His 'Dissatisfaction Or Desire To Explore New Opportunities'
Diego Cavallotti has released a statement regarding his departure from LACUNA COIL.
Cavallotti, who joined LACUNA COIL in 2016, initially as a fill-in guitarist following the departure of Marco "Maus" Biazzi, took to his social media earlier today (Wednesday, June 19) to write: "Good morning everyone.
"I want to share with all of you this post regarding my departure from the band.
"Yes, I am no longer part of the LACUNA COIL.
"Although this decision is not the result of my dissatisfaction or desire to explore new opportunities, I have serenely decided to accept it in consideration of these almost 10 wonderful years spent together, playing around the world, and to allow the band to continue its course without me.
"I wish to Maki, Andrea, Cristina and Richard the greatest success and the greatest satisfaction. I thank them for the huge wealth of experience gained over all these years, always side by side.
"I thank all of you, friends, fans and artists who have written to me but above all for the immense support that I'm receiving.
"However, this is not the end of anything, one chapter has just been closed and I am ready to write another one. For me music is, and remains, my only reason for living and I will never stop doing what I love, even if that meant going back to playing in garages or in front of anyone.
"I can't wait to find out what the future has for me, I am ready to evaluate every possible new opportunity and I will continue to carry out my projects with pride and dedication.
"Thank you very much to everyone, see you around."
When LACUNA COIL announced Cavallotti's exit on Monday (June 17),the band wrote in a statement: "As we step into a new cycle, writing and recording our next album, we are parting ways with Diego 'DD' Cavallotti. We thank him for the many unforgettable moments shared over the years and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours.
"All future live plans remain unchanged and the new songs are taking form, we can't wait to share them with our fans."
Biazzi left LACUNA COIL in January 2016, explaining in a statement: "I felt I couldn't add more in this project any longer so I decided to leave my second family, LACUNA COIL, to take a different path for a new challenge in my life."
LACUNA COIL recently completed the "Ignite The Fire" U.S. tour with support from NEW YEARS DAY and OCEANS OF SLUMBER.
In April, LACUNA COIL released another new single, "In The Mean Time", featuring Ash Costello of NEW YEARS DAY. The song's title is a reference to the mean times the world is living in, as well as a reference to the state the band itself is in, between cycles.
Last July, LACUNA COIL released the official lyric video for a new track called "Never Dawn". For the song, the band partnered with CMON, the renowned board game publisher behind the popular game "Zombicide".
In a recent interview with Brazil's Sonoridades Inc., LACUNA COIL singer Cristina Scabbia spoke about the progress of the writing and recording sessions for the band's follow-up to 2019's "Black Anima" album. She said: "I can't really tell you a lot. I can tell you that we are progressing very fast. We are almost, like, 100… We completed, let's say, the demoing. We still have to record the rest of the songs, but we will soon — probably after the tour, after the [May 2024] North American tour. And if everything goes as projected, before the end of the year [it] will be released. And that's already a big news, because we always say, 'We don't know. Maybe.' … I absolutely love the songs. I'm part of the process. But I'm very pleased."
Asked if "Never Dawn" will be on the upcoming album, Cristina said: "I think it will be. I think it will be, 'cause it will make sense. And it also fits with the other songs — it really fits with the other songs. Many heavy songs."
LACUNA COIL has spent some of the last couple of years promoting "Comalies XX", the "deconstructed" and "transported" version of the band's third album, "Comalies".
"Comalies XX" was made available on October 14, 2022 via Century Media Records.
LACUNA COIL celebrated the 20th anniversary of "Comalies", by performing it in its entirety at a one-night-only concert on October 15, 2022 at Fabrique in Milano.
"Comalies" was originally released on October 29, 2002 through Century Media Records. The LP, which featured the band's breakthrough single "Heaven's A Lie", has reportedly gone on to sell over 300,000 copies in the United States alone.

FEVER 333 Shares New Song 'New West Order'
Grammy-nominated rock band FEVER 333, led by Jason Aalon Butler, has released a powerful new song and music video for "New West Order", out via 333 Wreckords Crew / Century Media Records. Bursting with fervor and intensity the band is known for, "New World Order" also proudly displays West Coast hip-hop influences, which have been an integral part of Butler's identity, growing up in Inglewood, California and forming the band there in 2017.
"There is an intersectional hot bed where the hood and hardcore meet," explains Butler on the new song. "For pimps and punks alike to enjoy and celebrate their taboos. This intersection is beautifully represented in Los Angeles and 'New West Order' is an unapologetic exploration of my experience as a social variable growing up in L.A. that I think the world should also have the privilege of being exposed to. It is also the beginning of west coast gangster rock as a genre and a culture. The beauty in disparity and these nuanced diamonds forged from the pressures we experience in alternative commodities (of all types against the background of our status quo) and, particularly, people of color. I spent about six years talking about how I felt about these governmental/societal systems and imbalances; now I'm going to talk about why I feel this way and the experiences that shaped such ideologies."
FEVER 333 has also announced headline dates across the United States and Europe. Taking place in the fall and kicking off October 17 in Los Angeles, the tour will hit all major cities across the country, wrapping up on November 8 in Brooklyn, New York. November 14 will kick off their run of shows taking place in Europe, hitting cities in Germany, France, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland and more.
Tickets go on sale Friday, June 21 at 10 a.m. local time.
FEVER 333 has proven consistently that it is one of the most captivating acts in modern music today. Now, FEVER 333 is set to embark on their most exciting chapter yet with a plethora of new music on the way.
FEVER 333's current lineup includes drummer Thomas Pridgen (THE MARS VOLTA, THUNDERCAT, TRASH TALK),bassist April Kae and guitarist Brandon Davis, alongside Jason Aalon Butler.
"New West Order" is FEVER 333's first single since February's "Ready Rock".

This record is huge and cinematic in every sense of the word.

GLENN HUGHES Explains Why He Is Spending Only 19 Days Recording His New Solo Album
In early May, Glenn Hughes spoke to Guitar Interactive Magazine about his upcoming studio album, tentatively due in early 2025. The long-awaited follow-up to 2016's "Resonate" is being recorded this month in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Hughes said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "In between interviews today, I'm writing a new song number four. So it's going really, really well. I wrote the music about six months ago and I finished all the music about three weeks ago and I'm now writing lyrics. We go in the studio on June the 1st. And in 19 days, the album will be finished. So I presume it'll be out next March."
Asked who will accompany him during the recording sessions for his new album, Glenn said: "Søren [Andersen, guitar] is back with me, and Ash Sheehan, my drummer from my band, and Bob Fridzema [on] keyboards. I think my friend Chad Smith [RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS] will be guesting as he'll be in Copenhagen sometime in June. Chad has played on every album I've done in the last 15 years."
Regarding why he is only spending 19 days recording his new album, Hughes said: "If all the music is ready and all the lyrics are ready, I don't see any reason why it can't be done in that time, because I normally come in the studio with everything finished. This time it's gonna be a real… Look. I've got how many days now, about — I don't know — three weeks before it's the 1st of June. I'm still traveling. I've got a couple of days off, so I'm spending most of my time… I've got four lyrics written now, I've got six to go. I should be on point. So if I've got it on point by the 31st of May, I'll be okay."
The 72-year-old Glenn, who has just released a new album from his supergroup BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION, previously discussed his plans to record a new solo album last October 2023 in an interview with Brazilian music journalist Igor Miranda. Asked how "Resonate" has aged for him musically since its release nine years ago, Glenn said: "I love the album. It's one of my favorite albums. I think a lot of people across the world, the rock fans love that album. I was at home writing that album and I went to Copenhagen and I had a really great time making that album. And the next one hopefully will be as strong."
In September 2023, Glenn told the "Iron City Rocks" podcast about where he draws his lyrical inspiration from nowadays: "I don't write about politics. I write about the human condition. I write about how are we feeling, what are we going through, are we going to get through this — you know, acceptance, staying in the present moment. This is the big thing for me. People call it woke, awakening, if you will… For me, it's all about staying present in this moment right now, and I'm writing about that."
"Resonate" was released in November 2016 via Frontiers Music Srl. It featured Glenn's then-live solo band members, Søren Andersen (guitars and co-producer),Pontus Engborg (drums) and Lachy Doley (keyboards),in addition to longtime friend Chad Smith (RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS),who joined them in the studio for the opening and closing numbers.
Last year, Hughes launched his solo tour under the banner "Glenn Hughes Performs Classic Deep Purple Live – Celebrating The 50th Anniversary Of The Album Burn". Glenn performed DEEP PURPLE's legendary rock album "Burn" and also ran through DEEP PURPLE MKIII and MKIV songs.
Hughes spent key years of his career as the beloved bassist and vocalist of DEEP PURPLE, appearing on the classic albums "Burn", "Stormbringer" and "Come Taste The Band".
Hughes, who was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2016 along with fellow DEEP PURPLE members Ritchie Blackmore, David Coverdale, Jon Lord, Rod Evans, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover and Ian Paice, spent more than three years recording and touring as the frontman of the supergroup THE DEAD DAISIES.
Glenn's BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION supergroup with guitarist Joe Bonamassa, drummer Jason Bonham (LED ZEPPELIN) and keyboardist Derek Sherinian (DREAM THEATER, ALICE COOPER, BILLY IDOL) released its fifth album, "V", earlier in June.

MICHAEL SCHENKER Shares 'Mother Mary' Single Featuring SLASH And ERIK GRÖNWALL
The world of rock guitar has always been illuminated by a few virtuosic stars who shine brighter than the rest, and among them, Michael Schenker stands out as a comet blazing across the night sky.
His tenure with the British hard rock band UFO during the 1970s remains one of the most celebrated periods in the annals of rock, elevating UFO from underground sensations to rock legends.
Now, in 2024, Michael Schenker is set to celebrate those glory days with his new album "My Years With UFO" alongside today's rock elite.
Produced by Michael Schenker and Michael Voss, the new album marks the 50th anniversary of Schenker's era with UFO, spanning from 1972 to 1978. The "German Wunderkind" was asked to join UFO at just 17 years old. Touring the globe as a teenager, Schenker became a driving force behind some of UFO's most loved tracks, such as "Doctor Doctor", "Rock Bottom" and "Only You Can Rock Me".
The first single off the new album, "Mother Mary", breathes new life into this classic, bringing together Michael Schenker's and Slash's unmatched guitar work with former SKID ROW singer Erik Grönwall's soaring vocals.
Although Michael Schenker's era with UFO spanned only six years, his influence as a young songwriter and exceptional guitarist had already left a lasting mark on rock. During these meteoric years, the UFO albums "Phenomenon", "Force It", "No Heavy Petting", "Lights Out", "Obsession" and the seminal live album "Strangers In The Night" were recorded, each contributing significantly to the genre. "Strangers In The Night" particularly stands out as one of the most influential live rock albums of all time and is still regarded as a cornerstone in any rock enthusiast's collection.
In this celebratory album, Michael Schenker presents 11 of UFO's greatest hits from this magical era with an impressive lineup of guest stars. Joining Schenker on this journey are Derek Sherinian on keyboards, Brian Tichy on drums, and Barry Sparks on bass.
The stellar roster of guest artists includes Axl Rose (GUNS N' ROSES),Slash (GUNS N' ROSES),Kai Hansen (HELLOWEEN),Roger Glover (DEEP PURPLE),Joey Tempest (EUROPE),Biff Byford (SAXON),Jeff Scott Soto (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, JOURNEY),John Norum (EUROPE),Dee Snider (TWISTED SISTER),Joel Hoekstra (WHITESNAKE),Joe Lynn Turner (RAINBOW),Carmine Appice (VANILLA FUDGE, CACTUS),Adrian Vandenberg (WHITESNAKE),Michael Voss, Stephen Pearcy (RATT) and Erik Grönwall (SKID ROW).
This album is the introduction to an upcoming trilogy, as Michael Schenker has signed an exclusive three-album deal with earMUSIC, with additional albums to follow in 2025 and 2026.
Today's release of "Mother Mary" sets the stage for what promises to be one of the most exciting rock albums of 2024.
"My Years With UFO" will be released worldwide on September 20 via earMUSIC and is available for pre-order.
"My Years With UFO" track listing:
01. Natural Thing (feat. Dee Snider, Joel Hoekstra)
02. Only You Can Rock Me (feat. Joey Tempest, Roger Glover)
03. Doctor, Doctor (feat. Joe Lynn Turner, Carmine Appice)
04. Mother Mary (feat. Slash, Erik Grönwall)
05. This Kids (feat. Biff Byford)
06. Love To Love (feat. Axl Rose)
07. Lights Out (feat. Jeff Scott Soto, John Norum)
08. Rock Bottom (feat. Kai Hansen)
09. Too Hot To Handle (feat. Joe Lynn Turner, Adrian Vandenberg, Carmine Appice)
10. Let It Roll (feat. Michael Voss)
11. Shoot, Shoot (feat. Stephen Pearcy)
A little over three years ago, Michael detailed events which led to his final exit from UFO in 2002, saying that "the natural flow of the chemistry was destroyed" by the time he left the band.
Schenker, whose original tenure with the British rock institution lasted from 1973 to 1978, rejoined UFO in 1993, recording the "Walk On Water" (1995) album with the classic lineup of the band that also included lead singer Phil Mogg, bassist Pete Way, drummer Andy Parker, and guitarist/keyboardist Paul Raymond.
Explaining how the reunion came about, Michael told Eonmusic: "Phil Mogg came to Los Angeles in '93, begging me to refuel UFO because he completely had destroyed it. I said, 'I have a few conditions. One is, you have to give me 50 percent of the UFO name so you don't destroy it again, especially if I put my energy into it."
The onetime SCORPIONS man went on to say that initially, things were great within the camp, and that he noticed a change in the formerly dejected Mogg almost immediately. "I tell you, when I saw Phil the next time when we started recording, he looked like an one hundred and eighty degree different person," Schenker said. "He was happy, healthy. He was unbelievably fit."
But it was a harmony that wasn't to last. "'Walk On Water' was a blessing after 17 years," Michael said. "It was such a beautiful record that famously carried on from 'Strangers In The Night' [1979]. And then, of course, we went on the road, and then Phil lost it, and wanted control again and destroyed everything."
Despite going on to record two further albums with the band — 2000's "Covenant" and 2002's "Sharks", Michael said that it was further lineup changes (the ousting of both Parker and Raymond) which ultimately destroyed the band.
"I always said to him, 'Never do a reunion with UFO unless it's the original setup, including the producer,'" Michael said. "Because if you take one piece out, the chemistry is finished."
Bringing in producer Mike Varney for "Sharks" in place of Ron Nevinson, the man behind their greatest '70s triumphs, for Michael, the end was nigh. "I said to Phil, 'Don't do this. It will backfire. It will not succeed.' And it did not. The natural flow of the chemistry was destroyed, and basically, we were just limping towards the end."
Despite this, Michael made one final gesture of good will toward Mogg. "I'd had enough of UFO at that point, and in 2002, Phil Mogg asked me, 'Michael, I need the name UFO back.' I said to Phil, 'You know what? God bless you. I'll give you the name back for free. Enjoy your life.' And then that was it. That was the end of it."

CROBOT To Release Obsidian Album In September; "Come Down" Visualizer Streaming
Obsidian, the upcoming album from Pennsylvania riff-titans Crobot, and likely the band’s most introspective journey yet, is set for release on the extraordinarily lucky Friday, September 13 (Megaforce Records). Produced by Crobot, recorded at The Machine Shop Studios in Austin, TX, and engineered, mixed, and mastered by Alberto De Icaza, the 12 tracks on Obsidian dive into the deep, murky waters of the human condition, threading ancient myths with personal demons across its tracks.
Released today is the song “Come Down”, co-written and brought to the band by drummer Dan Ryan, and the track’s accompanying visualizer, which is populated by a spaceborne killer, ancient Celtic druids, the obsidian vocalist Brandon Yeagley found in the woods, tracks of a white rabbit headed to a portal into the underworld, and more.
“As we started demoing songs,“ guitarist Chris Bishop explains, "the music was being pushed more and more into a heavier, darker, more metal direction. 'Come Down’ is one of the heaviest songs that we’ve done, it’s much more in the world of Alice in Chains. Dan, our drummer, comes from that world, and we didn’t try to stifle that, so the new music is a lot heavier than our previous albums.”
Stream the single here, and watch the visualizer below.
"‘Obsidian,’ the title track, went through many different structures,” Bishop explains, “but it was never quite right. So, we put it on hold and hit up Howard Jones, who used to play in Killswitch Engage and is now in Light the Torch. We told him that we had the album’s title, Obsidian, but not the title track, sent him the tune, and he came back with some ideas that were perfect. So, we rolled with that; Brandon put his spin on Howard's ideas, and we brought Howard into the circle of being in Crobot for that one song.”
While the band’s primary songwriters - Bishop and Yaegley - tend to leave their songs somewhat ambiguous, the upcoming album’s new tunes touch upon very personal growth, conflicts, and reflections. "Each song descends into the darker reaches of the psyche,” Bishop says, "set to a relentless rhythm of heavy, pulsing beats and gut-wrenching guitar solos, and offers a stark reflection of internal struggles.”
“Obsidian is almost a rebirth of our career,” Brandon adds. “We were able to take a different approach to the writing and recording of this album, so the experience was very rewarding and different from past projects. Conflicts and reflections make you a better person, even in those darker moments, but I know I became a better person for it. I think that’s what symbolizes this entire album for us. It’s been a real breath of fresh air.”
Obsidian tracklisting:
"Obsidian"
"Come Down"
"Nothing"
"From The Ground"
"Disappear"
"Metal"
"The Flood"
"Ancient Druid Crown"
"Head Of The Beast"
"White Rabbit"
"Happiness"

ROTTING CHRIST Launch Official Lyric Video For New Song "Yggdrasil"
Rotting Christ have released a video for "Yggdrasill", a song from the band's new album, Pro Xristou, out now. The clip can be viewed below.
A message states: "In Norse mythology, Yggdrasill (ᛦᚵᛑᚱᛆᛋᛁᛚ) is an enormous ash tree that connects the nine worlds, including the underworld (Niflheim), the earth (Midgard), and the realm of the gods (Asgard). Yggdrasill is associated with both life and death: it acts as a gallows that the god Odin hangs himself from in order to gain mystical knowledge, and it is said to be the source of new life after Ragnarök (Doomsday), the catastrophic final war of the gods."
All art and video for this song was made by Kim Diaz Holm / Den Unge Herr Holm. Effects and video by Costin Chioreanu.
Rotting Christ have stood the test of time. While their name has caused plenty of gatekeepers to clutch their pearls, Sakis Tolis and has brother Themis have risen from Greece's blackened catacombs to one of metal's most formidable bands.
This year, Rotting Christ are celebrating 35 years of evil excellence with their 14th album. ΠΡΟ ΧΡΙΣΤΟΥ (Pro Xristou) is bound to hold a revered place in the band's heretical history. Always true to their name, with Pro Xristou ("Before Christ"), the band pay tribute to the last of the Pagan kings by offering up more towering, gothic, melodic black metal.
Now that Rotting Christ are closing in on four decades, some followers might've wondered if there was any sacred ground left for them to conquer. But Pro Xristou is a testament to a band that's still on the rise.
"This album was inspired by the might of ancient pagan wisdom", says Sakis. "It's a tribute to those who resisted the coming of Christianity, which destroyed all the values, traditions and knowledge of the ancient world".
Tracklisting:
"Pro Xristou (Προ Χριστο?)"
"The Apostate"
"Like Father, Like Son"
"The Sixth Day"
"La Lettera Del Diavolo"
"The Farewell"
"Pix Lax Dax"
"Pretty World, Pretty Dies"

Rotting Christ invite you to partake in a monumental crusade across Europe. Frontman Sakis comments: "Dear Metal brothers & sisters, we can proudly announce that we celebrate our 35 years of existence with the release of our new album Pro Xristou & some special shows on European soils this Autumn. Together with the Scandinavian Pagan Metal Kings Borknagar and French diabolical horde Seth we promise to perform a hell of a show every night! Thanks for your attention and look forward to seeing you all in the battlefield!"
The Greek forebearers will share stages with Norway's progressive black metal giants Borknagar, whose profound musical narratives have sculpted their undisputed place within the genre. Alongside them, France's Seth will bring their own brand of fervent intensity and atmospheric ferocity to the mix. Together, they stand as a triad set to invigorate and bewitch audiences across the continent.
Borknagar: "We are honoured and incredibly exited to announce our upcoming co-headline tour across the European lands with our brothers in music, and true legends, Rotting Christ! AMORPHIS To Enter Studio After Fall 2024 North American Tour
In a new interview with The Chill Dude On A Couch, AMORPHIS guitarist Tomi Koivusaari spoke about the band's plans for the follow-up to 2022's "Halo" album. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "We're going to the studio straight after the U.S. tour [in the fall of 2024]. And we'll be recording [for] a few months. And so the new album will be out, like, [in] '25.
Asked if he has an idea as to which musical direction the new AMORPHIS songs will take, Tomi said: "I think everybody has just made some songs, but we haven't shared it yet with the other guys. So I haven't heard what other guys are doing. I just heard what I've been doing. I [don't know what will] end up end up [on] the album. But we will see. We will have a new producer. We've done the three last albums with Jens Bogren, and now we have a new direction in a way."
AMORPHIS's fourteenth studio album, "Halo" came out in February 2022 via Atomic Fire Records.
Produced by Bogren, "Halo" was previously described in a press release as "progressive, melodic, and quintessentially melancholic heavy masterwork."
As had been the case with AMORPHIS albums in the past, "Halo" featured the imaginative and poetic storytelling of renowned lyricist and "Kalevala" expert Pekka Kainulainen.
Two years ago, AMORPHIS guitarist and founding member Esa Holopainen told Westword that the band is "not as radical" as it once was.
"Back in the day, I think we did too much of what we wanted to do," he said. "For us as musicians, we needed to do that, because we never wanted to get stuck in one form. Today we blend all the new nuances and influences pretty nicely into our music. Even though there's a lot of different elements from different genres and the musical world, even from ethnic music, I have to say, we're pretty good to blend all of those elements into our music without sounding too different."
AMORPHIS and DARK TRANQUILLITY will join forces for a North American tour this summer and fall. The trek, which will feature support from FIRES IN THE DISTANCE, will kick off on September 3 in Richmond, Virginia and conclude on October 6 in New York City.

VIXEN's BRITT LIGHTNING Wasn't Involved In Decision To Change Singers Again, But 'Trusts' That It Will Be 'A Positive' Move
During a new appearance on the Battleline Podcast, VIXEN guitarist Brittany Denaro (a.k.a. Britt Lightning) discussed the decision to part ways with the band's singer of the past five years, Lorraine Lewis. Asked what she would say to fans who are concerned that VIXEN bears little resemblance to the band that broke through in the late 1980s, with drummer Roxy Petrucci as the sole remaining member from VIXEN's classic lineup, Britt said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Yeah, well, I think Roxy is definitely dedicated to maintaining the musical integrity of the classic VIXEN. And she said that. And I think for whatever reason, she feels that this change is gonna be a positive one. And yeah, so this new lineup, our new singer will be debuting with the band, I think it's next week, June 21st. We have a show in Anaheim with QUIET RIOT and SLAUGHTER and GREAT WHITE. So, I'm excited. I trust her. She's been doing this a long time, and she knows what feels right."
Britt continued: "Sometimes things run its course. And, again, I'm not involved in in this decision or at liberty to really speak about who [the new singer] is yet or the reasons in it. But at the end of the day, it doesn't matter, I guess. We're forging forward, we're forging ahead, and there will be new music. And I think it's gonna rock. So I'm very excited."
Asked if she has had a chance to jam with the new singer yet and hang out with Lorraine's replacement in person, Britt said: "Okay. No. [Laughs] However, she has been vetted and I trust that she's the right fit and is our vibe and gets it. And at the end of the day, obviously you have to be talented, but just being a good person and being a cool person, 'cause we spend a lot of time together. I mean, that saying, musicians, we get paid to travel and then we play the gig, but what do we get paid for? The travel. I mean, I've flown to South America for one 30-minute show and then flown right back. So that's a lot of travel time and not a lot of playing. And that's a lot of time that you have to be with each other, and if you're with somebody that just drives you nuts, that's the worst thing ever. And then you can tell on stage too. So you know there's good chemistry when — you can feel it, is what I'm saying, on stage. And I think the audience can always feel it too. So, I know it'll be great though. Roxy also is more familiar with her as a person, and if she greenlighted it, then I know it's gonna be good."
When VIXEN announced Lewis's exit from the band on May 27, the group said in a statement: "First of all we want to extend a special thank you to Lorraine Lewis. We're grateful for her contributions to VIXEN and wish her all the best in her career moving forward. Secondly, thank you to everyone sending suggestions and to those who inquired about singing for us. We're letting you all know that we have our new singer and we're ready to Rev it Up! Wanna know who? Come find out! We'll see you on the road!"
VIXEN will play its first show with Lewis's replacement on June 21 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California alongside GREAT WHITE, SLAUGHTER and QUIET RIOT.
VIXEN has more than a dozen more shows scheduled for the summer and early fall.
On May 26, Lewis released the following statement via her social media: "VIXEN Tribe and devoted fans: The band has taken a different direction, and as much as I will miss you please know that more Rock & Roll from me is on the way!
"It has been an honor to front the band since that first show in 2019 & I am forever grateful for the opportunity and memories that came with it! I've had the time of my life and have loved rockin' with ALL of you! I can't wait to rock your faces off again soon cuz trust me babes, I'm not going anywhere!! I love you."
In January 2019, VIXEN recruited Lewis as its new lead singer following the departure of Janet Gardner.
Lewis had already performed with VIXEN in March 2018 in Durant, Oklahoma while Gardner was recovering from surgery.
Prior to Lewis's addition to VIXEN, Petrucci, bassist Share Ross and Lightning vowed to "expand upon the VIXEN legacy while remaining true to our musical roots."
Gardner, Petrucci and Ross are considered to be part of VIXEN's classic lineup, along with founding guitarist Jan Kuehnemund, who died of cancer in October 2013.
Gardner contributed lead vocals to VIXEN's most commercially successful studio albums — "Vixen" (1988),"Rev It Up" (1990) and "Tangerine" (1998) — as well as the group's latest full-length release, 2018's live album "Live Fire".
More than two years ago, Ross announced that she was "taking a hiatus" from VIXEN. Her replacement is Julia Lage, formerly of the Latin Grammy-nominated Brazilian rock group BARRA DE SAIA and wife of Richie Kotzen. Lage made her live debut with VIXEN on February 8, 2022 at the pre-Monsters Of Rock cruise concert at Magic City Casino in Miami, Florida.
Last year, VIXEN released a new single called "Red". The official music video for the track, which was written and produced by CINDERELLA drummer Fred Coury, was directed by Drew Johnston and Vicente Cordero and edited by Ryan Conion. | 0

Watch: MAX And IGOR CAVALERA Perform Early SEPULTURA Classics In Dublin During 2024 'Third World Trilogy' Tour
Fan-filmed video of CAVALERA, the band featuring former SEPULTURA members Max and Igor "Iggor" Cavalera, performing on June 13 at The Academy in Dublin, Ireland can be seen below.
The setlist was as follows, according to Setlist.fm:
01. Bestial Devastation (SEPULTURA song)
02. Antichrist (SEPULTURA song)
03. Necromancer (SEPULTURA song)
04. Warriors Of Death (SEPULTURA song)
05. Sexta Feira 13
06. Morbid Visions (SEPULTURA song)
07. Mayhem (SEPULTURA song)
08. Crucifixion (SEPULTURA song)
09. Funeral Rites (SEPULTURA song)
10. Empire Of The Damned (SEPULTURA song)
11. Inquisition Symphony / Escape To The Void (SEPULTURA song)
Encore:
12. Refuse/Resist / Territory (SEPULTURA song)
13. Troops Of Doom (SEPULTURA song)
CAVALERA has become synonymous with extreme metal music, a name that to this day still holds the highest regard, a family legacy built upon decades of musical aggression. In 2023, Max and Igor achieved what some would say was an impossible feat; they revisited their earliest SEPULTURA releases, "Morbid Visions" and "Bestial Devastation", and re-recorded them with bone-breaking intensity. A risk that few would dare to even attempt, yet they artfully and prolifically attained their trademark raw sound by means that could only be described as magic or time travel.
It seems that the ball would not stop rolling as now they are entering the final chapter of their early-days trilogy. SEPULTURA's "Schizophrenia" is an iconic album in terms of early thrash and death metal, a household name for those of us invested in extreme metal. This was the point where the Cavaleras refined their dark, dingy, speed-influenced songs, into something a bit more mature, developed, and technical. Decades later, they have once more unlocked the asylum that is "Schizophrenia", opening the doors to that banished, twisted recording which will be unleashed unto to world on June 21 via Nuclear Blast Records.
Max Cavalera states: "The Third World Trilogy is finally complete with 'Schizophrenia', 'Bestial Devastation' and 'Morbid Visions', all three Brazilian underground gems! To me, 'Schizophrenia' is the ultimate death/ thrash experiment! I was inspired to take on the world and this recording shows my commitment is relentless! This one is for all the generations to enjoy! Play at max volume!"
Igor comments: "1987 was a very progressive year for metal, with releases like CELTIC FROST 'Into The Pandemonium', VOIVOD 'Killing Technology' and BATHORY 'Under The Sign Of The Black Mark', so it was no surprise on how we approached 'Schizophrenia' pushing our boundaries from a black/death metal sound to a more thrash metal aesthetics. We still had some ideas from 'Morbid Visions' and some new songs. I'm very proud of the songwriting and even more proud of our re-recordings."
No stranger to collaborations, the Cavalera brothers enlisted Travis Stone (PIG DESTROYER) on lead guitars, and that choice becomes obvious within the first song. The full lineup would consist of more Cavalera alumni, as Igor Amadeus Cavalera (GO AHEAD AND DIE, HEALING MAGIC) once more brought his talents on bass to the fold. Thundering and thrumming the low end with brute force, it is clear that the double Iggor and Igor combination is a rhythm section to be reckoned with.
It should come as no surprise that the CAVALERA brothers always felt that these songs deserved a fresh take with modern production. From April 15 to June 5, 2023 the band re-recorded the album at Focusrite Room in Mesa Arizona. Mixing and mastering was handled by Arthur Rizk (SOULFLY, GO AHEAD AND DIE, TURNSTILE).
"Schizophrenia"'s album cover has obsessed and fascinated fans for decades. The brothers left no stone unturned and no detail unnoticed, also revisioning the original cover artwork of the album, restored in hand-painted watercolors by Eliran Kantor.
CAVALERA's European "Third World Trilogy" tour kicked off on June 12 in Leichester and will make stops in Wroclaw, Oslo, and Barcelona before ending in Switzerland on July 21.
CAVALERA is:
Max Cavalera - Vocals, Guitar
Igor "Iggor" Cavalera - Drums, Percussion
Igor Amadeus Cavalera - Bass
Travis Stone - Lead Guitar

JUDAS PRIEST recently announced leg two of its "Invincible Shield" tour with special guest SABATON. The all-time greats will take over new markets in North America this fall with an additional 23 performances.
Produced by Live Nation, the tour kicks off on September 13 at Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec and makes stops in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Omaha, Nebraska; Spokane, Washington; Portland, Oregon; Los Angeles, California; Phoenix, Arizona and more before wrapping up with three shows in Texas on October 22, 24 and 26.
In a recent interview with Crash of the 96.1 The Rocket radio station, Ian Hill was asked about JUDAS PRIEST's spring U.S. tour in support of the band's latest album, "Invincible Shield". The 72-year-old bassist responded: "The tour's going great. It really is. There's a hell of a lot of interest in the band, I think mainly because, well, the album is very good and people had to wait a long time for it as well, because of what happened with COVID and what have you, the long protracted recording process. And, of course, there was also the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame [induction in November 2022]. I think that put a lot of focus on the band as well. And we were grateful for that. Everywhere's selling out, which is great news — most places, anyway. There's one or two places which aren't far away [from being sold out]. And I don't know — it's just all bubbled up again for some reason."
He continued: "Back in the '80s there, we were going out and playing in front of 15,000 people a night, things like that — it became a fad in the '80s — then it went back down to normal. And now it's having a resurgence. It's good news for all metal bands, not just us. [There is] a lot more interest, and you notice it on stage as well. You're looking down into the audience, and there's a hell of a lot of young people there — probably dragged initially, screaming and yelling by the parents, but they're loving it. They're getting into it. They're loving it. They wear the t-shirts. They know the words to the songs, which is amazing. And I think there's a great future for the genre. And, like I say, it's good news for us all."
Hill also talked about PRIEST's touring plans for the rest of 2024, going into 2025. He said: "We've got about another three weeks, maybe, in the States. I mean, we've only really done the East Coast. We haven't ventured over any further than about Chicago. So we've got about a week off. Then we go back to Europe. We've already done one European leg, but there's a lot of festivals during the summer in Europe. So, we'll go and do all the festivals in Europe. And we've got August off, I think. And then we'll be back here [in the U.S.] in September to do to the rest of the states, do the West Coast and Texas and wherever — and Canada; we haven't touched Canada on this run either, so we're gonna be going up there too. That'll take us probably to maybe October. And we've got a little bit of time off then, and then off to Japan in December. [Then it's] Christmas and then possibly next year, South America, maybe Southeast Asia. We'll see what crops up next year. Then we'll take stock."
JUDAS PRIEST kicked off the U.S. leg of the "Invincible Shield" world tour on April 18 at Toyota Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford, Connecticut.
Hill is the sole remaining original member of PRIEST, which formed in 1969. Singer Rob Halford joined the group in 1973 and guitarist Glenn Tipton signed on in 1974. Rob left PRIEST in the early 1990s to form his own band, then came back to PRIEST in 2003. Original guitarist K.K. Downing parted ways with the band in 2011, and was replaced by Faulkner.
Tipton was diagnosed with Parkinson's 10 years ago — after being stricken by the condition at least half a decade earlier — but announced in early 2018 he was going to sit out touring activities in support of JUDAS PRIEST's "Firepower" album. He was replaced by "Firepower" and "Invincible Shield" album producer Andy Sneap, who is also known for his work in NWOBHM revivalists HELL and cult thrash outfit SABBAT.
"Invincible Shield" entered the U.K. chart at No. 2, just behind Ariana Grande's "Eternal Sunshine".
Prior to "Invincible Shield"'s arrival, PRIEST's highest U.K. chart achievement was with 1980's "British Steel", which reached No. 4.
PRIEST's 2018 album "Firepower" entered the chart at No. 5.
"Invincible Shield" was JUDAS PRIEST's fifth Top 10 album, after the aforementioned "British Steel" and "Firepower", as well as 2014's "Redeemer Of Souls" (No. 6) and the 1979 live album "Unleashed In The East" (No. 10).
"Invincible Shield" landed at No. 1 in Germany, Finland, Sweden and Switzerland, as well as No. 5 in France, No. 8 in Italy and No. 16 in Australia. | 0

Ex-VENOM Drummer ABADDON: 'I Don't Think Artificial Intelligence Has Any Place In Our Form Of Music'
In a new interview with Get Heavy UK, former VENOM and VENOM INC. drummer Abaddon (real name: Antony Bray) weighed in on a debate about people using an A.I. (artificial intelligence) music generator as a tool to create melodies, harmonies and rhymes based on artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms and machine learning (ML) models. Bray said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "A.I. in general, I don't like it at all. I mean, I think that if A.I. was gonna do the dishes and gonna sweep the carpets and do all that shit so I could get on with being an artist and painting and recording music or singing or doing something, that'd be great. But when I've gotta wipe the babies' arses and clean the carpets while AI gets on with doing the artwork, then there's something drastically wrong."
He added: "I don't think it has any place in our form of music. I really don't. I really think — from my point of view, we have to take a step back and regain the heart of the music, the soul, the passion because that's where it's at. That's where it was with MOTÖRHEAD, that's where it was with JUDAS PRIEST. These weren't the best guitarists in the world. They weren't virtuoso drummers or keyboard players. And they all got better from just being around each other, not from any sort of pushing buttons."
A year ago, Bray was asked by The Meista - Brews & Tunes about the possibility of a reunion of VENOM's classic lineup, also featuring frontman Conrad "Cronos" Lant and guitarist Jeff "Mantas" Dunn. He responded: "I don't see why not… I thoroughly believe that, put the three of us in a room together and it would just start again. I really believe that. The balls would be there. The intent would be there. The heart and the soul would be there. Because it's what we do. We're not virtuoso players. We're not geniuses at what we do. What we are good at is being together and being in the band, and I can't see why that shouldn't happen again… I can see it happening. A lot of people say not, but I can see it happening."
Abaddon's comments came six months after Cronos told Metal Hammer magazine that the chances of a reunion of VENOM's classic lineup were "less than zero. I owe them nothing, and they've got nothing I want," he added. "We still get fans saying, 'The VENOM legions want the old lineup back together.' We tried in the '90s and it wasn't well received. The last thing I want to do is get onstage with those other two doddery old fuckers and put on a subpar performance. I'm getting better album sales now, so why the fuck would I want to go back to that? I just want VENOM to be great."
Asked if he feels sad that there's no relationship between the three of them now, Cronos said: "Yeah, of course it's sad. But we had a blast, and I'll cherish those memories."
In 2022, Dunn said that he would like to see the classic VENOM lineup celebrate the 40th anniversary of the band's "Black Metal" album.
Released in 1982, "Black Metal" is considered a major influence on thrash metal and extreme metal in general. VENOM's second album proved influential enough that its title was used as the name of the extreme metal subgenre of black metal. The band classic lineup trio of Dunn, Lant and Bray recorded two further studio LPs, "At War With Satan" (1984) and "Possessed" (1985),and live album, "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" (1986). Often cited by bands such as METALLICA, BEHEMOTH, CELTIC FROST and MAYHEM as major influences, they are one of the most revered bands of their generation. VENOM is still fronted by Cronos and headlines festivals all over the globe and continues to release new music while Dunn and former VENOM bassist/vocalist Tony "Demolition Man" Dolan have joined forces in the similarly named VENOM INC.
Dunn, Bray and Dolan released three albums as VENOM between 1989 and 1992 — "Prime Evil" (1989),"Temples Of Ice" (1991) and "The Waste Lands" (1992).
VENOM INC. is not to be confused with the aforementioned Cronos-fronted version of VENOM, which is continuing to tour and make albums under the VENOM moniker. Joining Cronos in that group are Rage (a.k.a. Stuart Dixon) on guitar and Danté (a.k.a. Danny Needham) on drums.

Watch: SAMMY HAGAR Plays Acoustic Set At Grand Opening Of Stage Red In Fontana, California
Rock And Roll Hall Of Famer and former VAN HALEN frontman Sammy Hagar was honored in his former hometown of Fontana, California on Saturday, June 15 with the official grand opening of Stage Red Theater. Named for Hagar, who is famously nicknamed the "Red Rocker," the historic 300-seat theater was completely remodeled as part of the transformation.
Hagar said: "When you go back to your hometown is where you really want to be known. Growing up, I was a poor kid, and coming here to this beautiful place and being honored like this by the mayor and everyone else just feels really good."
Fontana mayor Acquanetta Warren and City Of Fontana council members joined Hagar for a ribbon cutting. Hagar was also presented with a diploma from Fontana High School, which he'd been denied during his youth following a prank.
Hagar and his bandmate, guitar virtuoso Vic Johnson, performed an acoustic concert to officially open the venue. Sammy's wife Kari Hagar made a rare onstage appearance to sing a few songs with her husband, including the VAN HALEN hit "Finish What Ya Started".
The Fontana Theater was originally built in 1937 as a one-screen movie theater. It was designed by Carl H. Boller, one of the best-known theatrical architects of that time period. The city enlisted Ideation Design Group, a longtime venue design partner of Hagar's, to spearhead an extensive remodel and design that embraces the historic building's original architecture. The two-year, multi-million-dollar relaunch is set to deliver an unparalleled live music experience that aims to be a cornerstone of the city's cultural renaissance.
Stage RED Theater is located at 8463 Sierra Ave. in downtown Fontana.
It's been a banner year for Hagar. In May, he was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, and next month, he'll embark on his mega "The Best Of All Worlds" tour.
Guitar virtuoso Vic Johnson auditioned for Hagar in 1997, was hired on the spot, and the rest, as they say, is history. The lead guitarist has been a staple on Sammy's tours and albums since, with the duo even releasing the acclaimed album "Lite Roast" in 2014, featuring acoustic and unplugged renditions of some of their favorite rock tunes. Later that year Sammy enlisted him for his new supergroup THE CIRCLE, along with Jason Bonham on drums and Michael Anthony on bass. SAMMY HAGAR & THE CIRCLE's 2019 debut album "Space Between", was lauded by critics and scored a multi-category No. 1 album on the Billboard charts. Their second album, "Crazy Times", dropped in September 2022, and debuted at No. 6 on Billboard's Top Album chart. On tour, the band quickly established themselves as one of the most emphatic and exciting live acts on the road, seamlessly ripping through Hagar's career-spanning hits and their new original material.

MICHAEL ANTHONY Shares Opinion On Only VAN HALEN Album He Didn't Play On, Talks Unreleased Material
In a new interview with Greg Prato of Ultimate Guitar, former VAN HALEN bassist Michael Anthony was asked if there are many unreleased songs from the David Lee Roth era of the band. He responded: "There were quite a few songs that I was a part of and worked on and written, even a couple of things before the first VAN HALEN record and the early part of VAN HALEN that they actually restructured and used on the 'A Different Kind Of Truth' album that they put out [in 2012, featuring Wolfgang Van Halen on bass]. Songs like 'She's The Woman'; that's the only thing that comes to mind."
"There were songs that were basically written way back in the early days when Dave, Eddie [Van Halen], Alex [Van Halen] and myself were together that they ended up using on that. But, God, I can't recall. There's probably miles of stuff. I mean, you've probably seen pictures of all the boxes of the tapes and everything [in Eddie's studio]. Which is miles of stuff.
"Every time that we went into the studio, whether it was Donn Landee or whoever was engineering for us, we had him press record. We recorded everything, every idea that we had. And there's stuff in there that…
"I hope Wolfgang goes through some of it because I'm sure there's a lot of stuff that Eddie did on his own, too, that might be kind of interesting to listen to also. But there's tons of stuff that we'll probably never see. Or hear."
Anthony was also asked for his opinion on the "A Different Kind Of Truth" album which recently returned to streaming platforms after a nearly two-year absence. He said: "I listened to a little bit of it. It was different. Dave was singing differently. And adding Wolfgang into the mix. It was different than what we were obviously doing when I was in the band. There's a lot of good stuff on there. But yeah, I thought it was a good album."
With Wolfgang on bass, VAN HALEN embarked on lengthy tours in 2007, 2012 and 2015. The band's final run of shows took place in the summer and fall of 2015. The North American trek included 41 concerts beginning on July 5, 2015 and ending on October 4, 2015.
More than three years ago, Wolfgang revealed that his father had contemplated a "kitchen-sink" VAN HALEN tour that would have included Anthony, as well as vocal turns from both Sammy Hagar and David Lee Roth. There was even talk about bringing back Gary Cherone, who sang with the band on one poorly received album, 1998's "Van Halen III".
According to Wolfgang, the original plan was for him to personally contact Michael and ask him to come back to VAN HALEN. "Unfortunately, [VAN HALEN's longtime manager] Irving [Azoff] hit [Michael] up before I had a chance to," he said. "The plan was for me to [reach out to him]." Wolfgang went on to say that he was also the one who called Roth in 2007 to get him to return to VAN HALEN for a reunion tour.
In early 2019, a rumor surfaced that the classic VAN HALEN lineup would reunite that summer for a run of stadium shows. This would have been the first time that Michael, Eddie, David and Alex Van Halen performed together since 1984.
The rumors originally started with Roth, who hinted to Vulture that VAN HALEN would be playing stadiums with Anthony back in the lineup.
VAN HALEN and Anthony had not been on good terms for more than a decade, with Anthony not invited to join the reunion with Roth that began in 2007. The subsequent two tours and the aforementioned "A Different Kind Of Truth" album featured Wolfgang on bass.
Anthony took a pay cut and signed away all of his rights to the band name and logo in order to participate in VAN HALEN's 2004 tour, which featured Hagar.
Eddie died in October 2020 at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, California. The iconic VAN HALEN axeman died from complications due to cancer, his son confirmed. | +1

EXTINCTION A.D. Drop "Impervious (Unrepentant)" Single / Video Feat. TRIVIUM's MATTHEW KIICHI HEAFY; New Album Due In August
Extinction A.D., the relentless purveyors of ferocious hardcore tinged thrash metal, have announced today that they will unleash their fourth studio album, To The Detested, on August 16 via Unique Leader Records.
Alongside today’s announcement comes the debut of their latest single and accompanying music video, "Impervious (Unrepentant)", featuring guest vocals by Matthew Kiichi Heafy of Trivium. Stream the new track here, and watch the accompanying video below.
The new single showcases Extinction A.D.'s dynamic approach to writing furious, incendiary heavy metal bangers and gives and exciting sneak-peek into what’s to come from the band’s upcoming fourth album, a tour de force of unbridled aggression that embodies Extinction A.D.'s evolution and unwavering commitment to their craft.
Speaking on today’s announcement, the band share "‘Impervious’ is another exercise for us in stretching ourselves. Embracing some different tempos, instrumentation and inclusion of guest vocals with Matt Heafy. Working with Matt for the track as well as the video was very gratifying and lot of fun. He’s been a big supporter of the band since the jump so it was rad to get together for some music after all this time. Time moves on but things sometimes seem to sink further and further into a festering pit in this world. Humans are steadily losing their humanity in the current state of things, so finding a way to survive without becoming a monster yourself is becoming increasingly difficult.”
To The Detested tracklisting:
"Desperate Grasp"
"Escape From New York"
"Epidemic Of Mutation"
"Apocalypse Rising"
"Impervious (Unrepentant)" feat. Matthew Kiichi Heafy
"Fill The Void"
"Burnt Sienna"
"Shepherding Swine"
"Behind The Veil Of Sanctity"
"The Cure Or The Cause"
"Impervious (Unrepentant)" video:
Extinction A.D. is not for the faint of heart and the intensity of these New Yorkers has yet to be tempered. The bands signature level of ferocity has reached new levels on their fourth album To The Detested, which follows their EP Ruthless Intent from earlier this year.
So many different worlds shaped this band; from writers like Alan Moore and George Orwell; lyricists like Wreak Havoc and Chuck D; to directors like Tarantino and John Carpenter. But musically, Extinction A.D. hook up a tube of early 90s era of metal into their veins. Not just bands like Pantera and Machine Head, but the often overlooked 90s offerings from Testament, Sepultura and Slayer.
Thrashing just as hard as their predecessors, the band also break their surroundings down and deliver some heavy as hell riotous mosh; hitting that all-important sweet spot mixture of 80s thrash, 90s extreme metal and New York hardcore, all encompassed into one.
Never afraid to speak their minds amidst a divisive world, Extinction A.D. bring a decisive power to match their frenetic energy. The endgame is not just rebellion but revolution. | +3
