BURY TOMORROW Debut "Begin Again" Visualizer Video

BURY TOMORROW Debut "Begin Again" Visualizer Video

British metal sextet, Bury Tomorrow, have released the video for "Begin Again", another taste of their forthcoming seventh album, the aptly titled The Seventh Sun, released March 31 via Music For Nations. The band reprised their relationship with Modern Error’s Zak Pinchin to produce a stunning visualizer.

Guitarist Kristan Dawson says the track is, "representative of the change we have all faced in the past few years. It represents an element of renewal and appreciation of where we have been as a band and where we are yet to go. Musically, it serves as a contrast to the heaviness we have presented in the first three singles, but packs a punch in a more positive way."

ACCEPT's WOLF HOFFMANN Names His Five Favorite Albums Of All Time

ACCEPT's WOLF HOFFMANN Names His Five Favorite Albums Of All Time

In the video below, which was originally uploaded to TikTok, ACCEPT guitarist Wolf Hoffmann names his five favorite albums of all time. He says (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I'm gonna use 'British Steel' by JUDAS PRIEST as number one. Number two's gonna be 'Highway To Hell' by AC/DC. Number three, '[Made] In Japan' by DEEP PURPLE. And number four, yes, THE BEATLES, The White Album; I used to a lot of THE BEATLES when I was young. And last [but] not least, there has to be one favorite or one classical album, and in this case representing all the other great classical pieces that are out there. I'm gonna use [Antonín] Dvořák the 'New World Symphony'.

"So, anyhow, there you have it. Five albums for that island. If we're all going to that island soon and we're gonna live happily and heavily ever after. So those would be my five albums that I would take."

In a 2022 interview with VWMusic, Hoffmann named DEEP PURPLE's Ritchie Blackmore, JUDAS PRIEST's Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing, and AC/DC's Angus Young as some of his earliest influences. "So, out of those, I think I've sort of formed a little element from all of them," he said. "Uli Jon Roth has always been one of my heroes as well, of Strat players, basically, that I've really admired most. And then for songwriting and the bluesy aspects, I've always liked AC/DC as well. So, I guess, as I was growing up, I listened to all the bands of the '70s, and we formed our own style out of it. My guitar playing was always kind of influenced by classical music. I don't know why, but I like these sorts of classical touches in my guitar solos and in my songwriting."

Back in 2016, Hoffmann said that Tipton and Downing influenced his "way of thinking and playing a tremendous amount. We toured with [PRIEST] in the early '80s, and that tour was sort of the 'coming of age' tour for us, where we toured for the first time with professional musicians," he added. "And those two guys really were our heroes; the way their guitars sounded and the way their riffs sounded on stage was just phenomenal."

As for Angus Young, Wolf said: "He definitely has influenced my style of playing a lot, the way he writes the riffs and the way that he solos in a bluesy style. He's very basic and simple in the way he plays, but he does that really, really well. I've always liked his playing. Out of those elements, I formed my own style, I believe."

Wolf said that Blackmore was "probably" the biggest influence on his playing, and he credited the RAINBOW leader with influencing "a whole generation of bands — especially when I grew up in the late '70s and early '80s. He was the guy in Germany that everybody admired. He was a Strat player, and I always loved Strat players. He also had that classical influence that I liked a lot. He was also very melodic, which I like."

Hoffmann is the sole remaining original member of ACCEPT, which he formed in 1976 in the town of Solingen, Germany with singer Udo Dirkschneider and bassist Peter Baltes.

ACCEPT's latest studio album, "Too Mean To Die", was released in January 2021 via Nuclear Blast. The LP was the group's first without Baltes, who exited ACCEPT in November 2018. He has since been replaced by Martin Motnik. ACCEPT's lineup has also been expanded with the addition of a third guitarist, Philip Shouse, who originally filled in for Uwe Lulis during 2019's "Symphonic Terror" tour, before being asked to join the band permanently.

MACHINE HEAD's ROBB FLYNN Calls Out ROLLING STONE For Failing To Include EXODUS And TESTAMENT On 'Greatest Metal Songs' List

MACHINE HEAD's ROBB FLYNN Calls Out ROLLING STONE For Failing To Include EXODUS And TESTAMENT On 'Greatest Metal Songs' List

MACHINE HEAD frontman Robb Flynn has called out Rolling Stone magazine for failing to include any tracks from EXODUS and TESTAMENT on its recently released list of "The 100 Greatest Heavy Metal Songs Of All Time".

Flynn made the comments while thanking Rolling Stone for including MACHINE HEAD's classic song "Davidian" on the list, which was compiled by tallying up ballots of personal picks for the top metal songs from the magazine's contributors.

In a post on MACHINE HEAD's official web site, Robb wrote: "I'd like to personally thank Rolling Stone for their inclusion of 'Davidian', from MACHINE HEAD's 1994 debut album 'Burn My Eyes' in their Top 100 Greatest Heavy Metal Songs of All Time. It was a rare and delightful compliment from a magazine that has largely paid us no mind for the last 29 years.

"Once the surprise of being mentioned subsided, I decided to go through all '100 Songs.' Sure, there are many, many questionable choices on the list, but there are two glaring omissions I HAVE to mention.

"No EXODUS? No TESTAMENT?

"Bay Area Thrash Metal is still an extremely vital and powerful force in music, and it wasn't just METALLICA that brought it to the World. Upon formation, EXODUS were literally the most exciting band around. Crafting timeless songs like 'Bonded By Blood', 'A Lesson In Violence', or their own 'pit anthem' – 'The Toxic Waltz', all deserve similar honors on such a list. When I was a teenager growing up in the Bay Area, I cannot express how important and influential EXODUS and guitarist Gary Holt were and remain. Without Gary, there is no Robb Flynn. Without EXODUS, there is no MACHINE HEAD.

"And when it comes to TESTAMENT? The word that continues to flash before my eyes is ‘impact.' I can assure you that every single Rock/Metal guitar player on the face of the planet's collective jaws hit the floor when they heard Alex Skolnick play. His adding of classical arpeggio sweeps into songs like 'Over The Wall', and 'Disciples Of The Watch', was game changing. Soon everybody from Kirk Hammett of METALLICA to Glenn Tipton of JUDAS PRIEST was doing it. The commanding bellow of singer Chuck Billy was an absolute precursor to the Death and Black Metal vocal that would soon follow and continue until this day. That's undeniable impact.

"Again, we are humbled, honored, and grateful for our welcome into your 'Top 100 Greatest Heavy Metal Songs of All Time'. Lastly, on behalf of the Heavy Metal community, thank you for representing our genre in your publication."

Rolling Stone stated the following regarding the people who contributed to selecting "The 100 Greatest Heavy Metal Songs Of All Time": "The group of headbangers that Rolling Stone gathered to rank the 100 Greatest Heavy Metal Songs of All Time debated the merits of more than 300 worthy songs over several months. These people include writers and critics who have been writing for Rolling Stone for decades and contributors to metal-focused publications. Many list voters contributed to RS' Greatest Metal Albums list a few years back."

Top 20 "Greatest Heavy Metal Songs Of All Time", as picked by Rolling Stone contributors:

01. BLACK SABBATH - "Black Sabbath"
02. METALLICA - "Master Of Puppets"
03. MOTÖRHEAD - "Ace Of Spades"
04. JUDAS PRIEST - "Breaking The Law"
05. BLACK SABBATH - "War Pigs"
06. OZZY OSBOURNE - "Crazy Train"
07. BLACK SABBATH - "Iron Man"
08. SLAYER - "Raining Blood"
09. DIO - "Holy Diver"
10. IRON MAIDEN - "Run To The Hills"
11. METALLICA - "One"
12. LIVING COLOR - "Cult Of Personality"
13. BLACK SABBATH - "Paranoid"
14. RAINBOW - "Stargazer"
15. SLAYER - "Angel Of Death"
16. IRON MAIDEN - "Hallowed By Thy Name"
17. AC/DC - "Back In Black"
18. LED ZEPPELIN - "Immigrant Song"

DØDHEIMSGARD To Release Black Medium Current Album In April; "Abyss Perihelion Transit" Music Video Posted

DØDHEIMSGARD To Release Black Medium Current Album In April; "Abyss Perihelion Transit" Music Video Posted

Norwegian extreme metallers, Dødheimsgard, will release their new album, Black Medium Current, on April 14 via Peaceville.

Today, Dødheimsgard share their exceptional first single, "Abyss Perihelion Transit". The ten minutes plus track weaves a sombre tapestry incorporating elements of multiple sub genres in the world of extreme metal and thematically tackles ideas of epistemological dualism.

Regarding the single, vocalist/guitarist Vicotnik had the following to say: “The whole album revolves subjectively around perception, experience, psychology, objective/subjective reality vs external pressure, tropes, taboos, the laws of motion/causality which influences one’s life. The subjective perception of reality vs the objective causal effects of reality and how they are bound interact.Epistemological dualism.”

Vicotnik continues: “I guess mental health, or rather instead of health, let’s call it mental condition is a big topic on this record. Not as in a complaining way, or as a good or bad notion, but rather a subject’s study of his own psychology (en)during everything.

Like the ambiguity of Being. What is Being? Is it a meta-physical stratum of subjective emotionally fuelled notions or is Being just explaining a physical object that is, therefore being. Epistemologically I guess these lyrics dwell a lot on naïve realism vs representational realism. Cognitivism vs behaviourism, and then bringing it all to an artist context obviously. So, it is experiential renditioning, not solution driven.”

Accompanying the single is a video and single cover art from visionary artist Costin Chiorenau who brings the disparate and incredibly solemn existence of Black Medium Current’s first single to life. Working together both the song and the video evolve over the course of the ten-minute run time to create something truly visionary both in a sonic and visual context.

Costin elaborates on the video: “I've been following Dødheimsgard for 20 years now, and the genius of Vicotnik always captured my highest focus, being at the same time a huge inspiration, both musically and aesthetically. I always perceived Dødheimsgard being more as an artistic movement than a black metal band, another aspect which excites my creativity and I feel fulfilled that I could express all this passion through the 'Abyss Perihelion Transit' art video and single cover."

He continues: “When I first heard it, I felt that void left behind by the desperation of the root-sense of old structures of perception. That void, which shakes the black matter foundation every time when manifestations tuned with and born in the past overleap the fresh sight of the present which fights hard to penetrate the dense walls of repetition. The main characters of this movie are the absence created by the vanishing old, the observer in search of a new fitting cloth of identity for its avatar and the desperate need of giving shape to the yet-not assimilated nor understood living new.

Secondary characters are different types of glitches in the matrix between self-imposed reality and the golden mean dream state, measuring systems for various types of space found between the layers of perception and the omnipresent shadow. These characters are interfering one with another in a multiverse of contrasts between defined and undefined, forming a brick-dust flavoured whole, at times exotic, at times smoked in bitter nihil. These characters are also the topics spoken but the energy of this song, by the voice of now and I consider the proper ones to be dissected through art.”

Watch the music video below.

Black Medium Current continues on the path set by 2015’s monumental and universally lauded A Umbra Omega album; itself a deeply poignant and potent release of vast maturity and insight. As is the questioning nature of Dødheimsgard, the band explore ideas in which trying to free oneself from a state of existential despair and confusion we in turn relinquish our own freedom. Suggesting that confusion and despair, however hard they may be to endure, are in a philosophical sense necessary told to question one’s own intellectual honesty.

Recorded during the end of 2021 and beginnings of 2022, with production duties being handled by Vicotnik. Engineered and mixed by Matias Aaveren at Top-Room Studios. Mastering by Charis at Feedback Studios with additional help by Pavlos.

Outside of traditional bass guitar duties Lars Emil Måløy lends his talents on piano, cello and theremin on "Requiem Aeturnum" as well as flute by STTNG on "Et Smelter".

Adorned by the work of graphic designer Łukasz Jaszak, having previously worked on Dold Vorde Ens Navn album, there was a symbiotic understanding when it came to artwork. Much like the album’s use of space musically, this is mirrored in the cover.

Black Medium Current will be released on April 14 on Digipak, Gatefold LP and digitally and is available to pre-order here.

Black Medium Current tracklisting:

"Et Smelter"
"Tankespinnerens Smerte"
"Interstellar Nexus"
"It Does Not Follow"
"Voyager"
"Halow"
"Det Tomme Kalde Morke"
"Abyss Perihelion Transit"
"Requiem Aeternum"

SAXON's BIFF BYFORD Wasn't Surprised By PAUL QUINN's Decision To 'Step Back From Touring'

SAXON's BIFF BYFORD Wasn't Surprised By PAUL QUINN's Decision To 'Step Back From Touring'

In a new interview with Greg Prato of AllMusic, Biff Byford was asked if he was surprised by SAXON guitarist Paul Quinn's recent decision to "step back from touring". The SAXON frontman responded: "No. He's been talking about it for four or five years now. There's a lot of pressure touring at the level we're touring at. A lot of times on buses. I think he's playing now better than he's ever played in his life, actually. But I just think he thinks from a fitness level — so he made the decision. But we weren't really surprised because we have talked about it quite a few times in the past."

As a result of Quinn's decision, SAXON canceled its April 2023 South American tour as well as the appearance at the Monsters Of Rock cruise.

When Paul's departure was first announced on March 10, SAXON said in a statement: "After much soul searching our great friend and fellow warrior Paul Quinn has decided to step back from touring with SAXON. After many years on the road, with the subsequent stress and tiredness that accompany long tour schedules, Paul doesn't want his performance to suffer and let his fellow band mates and fans down. Paul will continue to record with the band and may play select special shows in the future.

"SAXON stand by Paul's decision and will keep you all informed regarding our next journey.

"The current run of March shows in Europe will continue as is but the band will be cancelling their April dates in South America and the MOR Cruise to give time to re-group. These territories will be re-booked as soon as time permits. All summer festivals will continue as booked."

Quinn alluded to his decision on March 9 in a since-deleted Facebook post. He wrote: "You need to know I will miss you & my SAXON co-workers for the great times on and off stage, so with regret I will leave while I can still hold my head high and not worry about my fingers or brain forgetting riffs, keys or stumbling over licks, as they do occasionally. I am not taking this lightly, and I want to do SAXON proud, whilst continuing to love and play music with THE CARDS and other projects."

THE CARDS is a classic rock trio which Quinn founded in 2016 with DORO/U.D.O. alumnus Harrison Young, and VANDENBERG drummer Koen Herfst. They are currently poised to release their second album this year.

Four years ago, the now-71-year-old Quinn reflected on over four decades of being in the group in an interview with HeadBangers LifeStyle. He said: "Lots of road miles and air miles. It feels great to be relevant still. We always have a blast and I think the audience know that we are one of them. We are one of those party bands that they like. That always helped to get the message across, and Biff [Byford, vocals] shouting at them occasionally. We've always had good members and good songwriters. The present band is included, and we’ve made some good stuff together, I think."

SAXON's new album, "More Inspirations", will arrive on March 24 via Silver Lining Music. Following the release of "Inspirations" in 2021, "More Inspirations" is the second "deep dish" serving of the influences which have fed SAXON's immensely successful 40-plus-year career.

Produced by Biff, with Seb Byford helping record the music alongside mixing engineer Jacky Lehmann, "More Inspirations" includes takes on RAINBOW, ZZ TOP and CREAM, as well as "Razamanaz" by NAZARETH, THE WHO's "Substitute", and URIAH HEEP's "Gypsy".

Byford and Quinn are the sole remaining original members in SAXON's current lineup.

Originally from South Yorkshire, England, SAXON has gone on to sell about 23 million albums and has produced such classic songs as "Denim And Leather", "Princess Of The Night", "Wheels Of Steel" and "Power And Glory".

DEF LEPPARD Joins Forces With ROYAL PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA For 'Drastic Symphonies' Album

DEF LEPPARD Joins Forces With ROYAL PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA For 'Drastic Symphonies' Album

May 2023 will see rock and classical royalty unite on a brand-new euphoric album titled "Drastic Symphonies" — DEF LEPPARD's greatest produced tracks dramatically reimagined and sounding larger and more exhilarating than ever before, teamed with London's iconic Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

DEF LEPPARD have deconstructed and rebuilt not only some of their most well-known tracks but also some of their hidden gems as well. By and large, they have intertwined the audio from the original tapes and performed them alongside the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The album includes new vocals and guitars which culminates in stunningly beautiful symphonic arrangements. At different points you can hear vocalist Joe Elliott dueting with his younger self.

Elliott says: "DEF LEPPARD has always enjoyed veering off the expected path — working with the likes of Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift and Alison Krauss, for example. So, when the offer to revisit some of our back catalogue with the Royal Philharmonic was presented to us, to a man we all jumped at it. Although we're far from the first band to ever do this, working directly with an orchestra at Abbey Road on some of our more orchestrated songs seemed too good of an opportunity to pass up."

This album represents a bold new approach to DEF LEPPARD's most loved songs.

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra was recorded at Abbey Road in March 2022. Produced by DEF LEPPARD, Ronan McHugh and Nick Patrick (producer of the following RPO/orchestral albums — Elvis, Roy Orbison, BEACH BOYS and Buddy Holly) with arrangements by Eric Gorfain (Neil Diamond, Ryan Adams, Christina Aguilera).

DEF LEPPARD guitarist Phil Collen says: "When the offer of doing an orchestral album with the RPO was suggested, we were honored. But we didn't just want an orchestra plonked over our previous recordings. We decided to create something special where we would have something classic but present it in a brand new way that would involve making everything work in the context of 'Drastic Symphonies'. Recording new parts, remixing previous sounds, taking some of our instruments out so the orchestra could breathe and literally making a new album. It was an amazingly inspirational process culminating in the live recording of the RPO at Abbey Road studios in London. An absolute team effort that took a good part of a year. It's a new DEF LEPPARD album, it's a greatest-hits-plus album, with some rarely heard songs, it's a live RPO album and we think it's perfect. We're so proud of how 'Drastic Symphonies' turned out and can't wait to share it to the world."

TONY CAMPOS: 'It's Really Up To The Fans' If STATIC-X Will Continue Making New Music

TONY CAMPOS: 'It's Really Up To The Fans' If STATIC-X Will Continue Making New Music

STATIC-X bassist Tony Campos has once again said that he is not opposed to making new music with the group's current lineup once he and his bandmates have finished touring in support of the "Project Regeneration" albums.

STATIC-X's latest LP "Project Regeneration Vol. 1", came out in July 2020. The first of two volumes, it featured 12 brand new tracks, containing many of the final vocal performances and musical compositions of late STATIC-X frontman Wayne Static, along with the original "Wisconsin Death Trip" lineup of Campos, drummer Ken Jay and guitarist Koichi Fukuda. A follow-up album, "Project Regeneration: Vol. 2", is scheduled for release on November 3. A collection of 13 brand-new songs, the upcoming LP was produced by frontman Xer0 — who is believed to be DOPE singer Edsel Dope — and mixed/mastered by longtime collaborator Ulrich Wild.

Asked in a new interview with The Underground Australia if there are plans for STATIC-X to create fresh music from scratch after the completion of the "Project Regeneration" touring cycle, Tony said: "It's a possibility. It's really up to the fans, if the fans want us to keep making more music and keep playing shows. We're certainly all enjoying our time playing together. And if the fans want it, we'll be there."

All of the music associated with "Project Regeneration: Vol. 2" is the result of collaborations between the four founding members along with their new vocalist/guitarist/producer Xer0. No additional guests appear on the album and there were no outside contributions to the songwriting, musical compositions, or the performances on "Project Regeneration: Vol. 2". Between the two releases, STATIC-X fans around the globe have been treated to over two dozen brand new songs — most of which feature Static on lead vocals — and all released after his untimely passing.

STATIC-X — featuring the lineup of Campos, Jay, Fukuda and Xer0 — is headlining the "Rise Of The Machine" tour with FEAR FACTORY alongside DOPE, MUSHROOMHEAD and TWIZTID. The 42-date trek kicked off February 25 in San Francisco, California and will wrap up April 15, in Los Angeles, California.

Static died after mixing Xanax and other powerful prescription drugs with alcohol, according to the coroner's report. The 48-year-old, whose real name was Wayne Richard Wells, was found dead in his Landers, California home on November 1, 2014.

Static founded STATIC-X in 1994 and achieved commercial success with "Wisconsin Death Trip", which included the rock radio hit "Push It".

The group issued five more studio albums before disbanding permanently in June 2013. Static had been pursuing a solo career at the time of his death.

Dope recently told Anne Erickson of Audio Ink Radio that the reason Xer0's identity has not been officially revealed is that he wants to make sure that STATIC-X is "properly represented, because I would never be interested in looking at a photo of STATIC-X or reading a liner note that mentions me as being the singer of STATIC-X. Edsel Dope has no interest in being the singer of STATIC-X," he clarified. "There's one living, breathing singer of STATIC-X, and that's Wayne Static. And then there's a character, an entity, for lack of better words, that was created in order to allow STATIC-X to have a future and to continue and be the legacy act that they are and tour and perform, and we gave that character a name that is respective to STATIC-X and fits the branding of what STATIC-X is, and that's what the importance is. It's the importance of recognizing the character as opposed to recognizing the person behind the character."

Back in October 2019, a photo was posted online clearly showing that Dope and Xer0 shared the same neck tattoo. However, Edsel later posted a lengthy statement on his band's Facebook page attempting to quash the rumors, implying Xer0's distinctive body ink was in fact a Photoshop job. Dope even provided a photograph of himself supposedly observing a STATIC-X performance sidestage to prove he and Xer0 were not the same person.

Exclusive: Stream BLIND OATH’s Self-Titled Debut Ahead Of Release!

Exclusive: Stream BLIND OATH’s Self-Titled Debut Ahead Of Release!

Formed in 2018 in the rusted Bible Belt city of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Blind Oath creates epic-scale traditional metal that erupts with the kind of old-school energy that harkens back to power metal’s glory days. The band’s lyrical lore is expertly distilled into concentrated Sword & Sorcery tales channeling the hermetic, gnostic, and alchemical, historical accounts of witchery, and epic gothic poems of old. Blind Oath’s self-titled debut, recorded with producer -- and Night Demon guitarist -- Armand John Anthony, is set for a March 17 release via Tulsa non-profit Horton Records. Preorder at this location.

In advance of tomorrow's release - BraveWords is premiering a full stream of the album. Listen below!

hortonrecords · BLIND OATH - Blind Oath

Guitarist Mitch Gilliam:

"Our goal with this record was to make the best possible true metal we could, and to honor the art form we owe our lives and friendships to. We feel we have accomplished that goal, and only hope we reach the ears of all discerning heshers and descenders of the truest of faiths: the reality bending, and life-saving flame of heavy fucking metal!"

Blind Oath was recorded at Captain’s Quarters studio in Ventura, California. Unbeknownst to the band, heavy metal legends Cirith Ungol were rehearsing next door to the studio, while the group was recording. Ungol frontman Tim Baker took interest in the blaring sessions and was swayed to record a vocal cameo (on the spot!) on the new Blind Oath song, “The Flame,” which is about the magick, strength, and beauty of heavy metal community. Baker’s surprise appearance, and the expert production of Anthony injected an extra dose of OOMPH to sessions, and the resulting record overflows with golden gallop, frenetic fret sorcery, and fist-pumping, adrenaline-triggering metal. Standout tracks like "Fascinatrix", "Spectral Attack", and the aforementioned “The Flame” reinforce the fact that Blind Oath plays music created BY fans of heavy metal FOR fans of heavy metal.

The band will showcase at the inaugural 2 Minutes to Tulsa Festival on April 1 at Cain's Ballroom where Blind Oath will share the stage with Exciter, Vicious Rumors, Satan, Haunt, Night Cobra, and more. The show will serve as the official 'Blind Oath' album release party.

Watch NICKELBACK Get Inducted Into CANADIAN MUSIC HALL OF FAME

Watch NICKELBACK Get Inducted Into CANADIAN MUSIC HALL OF FAME

NICKELBACK was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall Of Fame as part of the 2023 Juno Awards. The ceremony took place in NICKELBACK's home province of Alberta on Monday, March 13 and appeared on the Juno Awards broadcast, produced by Insight Productions. It also streamed live across Canada on CBC TV, CBC Gem, CBC Radio One, CBC Music, CBC Listen, and globally at CBCMusic.ca/junos and CBC Music's Facebook, YouTube and Twitter pages.

NICKELBACK was welcomed into the Canadian Music Hall Of Fame by Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid who expressed his gratitude to the group, reflecting on the impact NICKELBACK's music had and continues to have in his life.

"NICKELBACK has brought my family and friends a lot of great memories over the years and kept a lot of neighbors up in the process," he said. "Tonight, it's my honor and privilege to introduce to you, the pride of Alberta, NICKELBACK."

NICKELBACK frontman Chad Kroeger told People about being inducted into the Canadian Music Hall Of Fame: "No matter what, I feel undeserved of such an honor. I just think that that should be bestowed upon people better than we are, more accomplished musicians than we are, people who've been around longer than we have. So, to find out that they want to induct us into the Hall Of Fame, it's a bit of a pinch-me moment, for sure."

NICKELBACK guitarist Ryan Peake agreed the honor is "hard to wrap your head around."

"I wish we had the ego where we're like, 'It's about time,'" he said. "We're still facing forward."

Comprised of Chad, Mike Kroeger, Peake and Daniel Adair, NICKELBACK is no stranger to the Junos stage. Since winning their first-ever Juno award in 2001 for "Best New Group", NICKELBACK has won a total of 12 awards spanning seven categories, including "Album Of The Year", "Rock Album Of The Year", "Juno Fan Choice", "Single Of The Year", "Songwriter Of The Year", "Producer Of The Year" and "Group Of The Year". The band's three-song performance on the broadcast — consisting of "Rockstar", "How You Remind Me" and "Animals" — was its sixth performance on the show, having previously performed in Newfoundland (2002),Edmonton (2004),Halifax (2006),Vancouver (2009) and Ottawa (2012).

With a list of accolades that includes 23 chart-topping singles and more than 10 billion collective streams globally to date, NICKELBACK's induction ceremony looked back at the band's 20-plus-year career and influence on rock music in Canada and around the world.

The Canadian Music Hall Of Fame was established by CARAS in 1978 to acknowledge artists who have made an outstanding contribution to Canadian music, both nationally and globally. NICKELBACK will join the ranks of Canadian music icons spanning many genres including Deborah Cox, Alanis Morissette, Buffy Sainte-Marie, BARENAKED LADIES, Jann Arden, Joni Mitchell, K.D. Lang, Leonard Cohen, Neil Young, Oscar Peterson, RUSH, THE GUESS WHO, THE TRAGICALLY HIP, Sarah McLachlan and Shania Twain. The Canadian Music Hall Of Fame has a permanent home within the National Music Centre situated inside Calgary's Studio Bell. A new exhibition exploring NICKELBACK's legacy opened on March 9.

NICKELBACK's continuously growing list of achievements includes many award-winning hit releases, such as "How You Remind Me", "Photograph", "Someday" and "Rockstar", which have all received considerable global attention and allowed the band to remain at the forefront of the music scene in Canada and around the world. The diamond-certified quartet is one of the top-selling acts of all time, having sold out 12 consecutive tours and played for well over 10 million adoring fans worldwide.

NICKELBACK's history dates back to 1995 in Hanna, Alberta, where they got their start playing covers in a band called VILLAGE IDIOT, a nod to the small-town nature where they played and grew up. In 1996, Chad, alongside Ryan Peake, made the 10-hour trek west to follow Kroeger's brother and bandmate, Mike, to Vancouver, British Columbia, where the band still resides and continues to make music today.

The band's numerous smash hits, coupled with worldwide sales of over 50 million albums sold, seals their status as one of the top-selling acts of all time and the second best-selling foreign act of the 2000s in the U.S., behind only THE BEATLES. The wildly popular smash hit "How You Remind Me" was named Billboard's "Top Rock Song Of The Decade", which was a contributing factor in the publication's decision to crown NICKELBACK "Top Rock Group Of The Decade" shortly after.

Beyond their Juno Awards, the group has received nine Grammy Award nominations, three American Music Awards, a World Music Award, a People's Choice Award and seven MuchMusic Video Awards. They were inducted into Canada's Walk Of Fame in 2007.

NICKELBACK released its long-awaited tenth studio album, titled "Get Rollin'", in November.

METALLICA's LARS ULRICH Says 'Lulu' Album Has 'Aged Extremely Well', Blames 'Ignorance' For Scathing Reaction From Fans

METALLICA's LARS ULRICH Says 'Lulu' Album Has 'Aged Extremely Well', Blames 'Ignorance' For Scathing Reaction From Fans

METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich has once again defended "Lulu", the band's controversial collaborative disc with Lou Reed, saying it has "aged extremely well".

"Lulu" polarized fans around the world and earned METALLICA some of the most scathing reviews of its career. The effort featured the late THE VELVET UNDERGROUND frontman's spoken-word poetry and lyrics combined with METALLICA's musical assault for a jarring experience that didn't sound like anything METALLICA had ever attempted before.

In Reed's newly released posthumous book, "The Art Of The Straight Line: My Tai Chi", out via HarperOne, Lars said about "Lulu" (via Loudwire): "What the fuck is it about 'Lulu' that it got that kind of reaction? I can't quite figure it out, but years later, it's aged extremely well. It sounds like a motherfucker still. So I can only put the reaction down to ignorance ... It took our fans to a place I wish they would go more often. Maybe it would be a better time to release it now with what's going on outside in the world, the chaos. I don't know, but I am very proud of this record ... James [Hetfield, METALLICA frontman] and I would be figuring out ways through a piece of music and then Lou would look over and go, 'That's it. I'm not doing another fucking take of that.' That's not the way we usually worked, but it was so beautiful and great, the whole thing."

Less than three years ago, METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett told Marin Independent Journal that he has "always been a big supporter" of "Lulu", "even when all my friends are shaking their heads and looking at me going, 'Bro, what were you thinking?'

"It was a real accomplishment as far I was concerned," he continued. "We were there to help Lou Reed fulfill his vision, and I think we did that 100 percent. This was not a METALLICA album and it was not a Lou Reed album. It was Lou Reed and METALLICA together, doing something completely different.

"It's not for everyone. But 'Junior Dad', I think, is one of the best things we've ever been associated with, in terms of real art and literature and music coming together. That, to me, is a real accomplishment, just as much as 'Ride The Lightning' is."

Asked what it was like playing guitar with Lou, Kirk told Marin Independent Journal: "He's a really, really good rhythm guitar player. He had a good, solid rhythm pulse to his playing. He was really not into lead guitar playing, and he was really, really not into wah-wah. In fact, one time during a rehearsal, I set the wah pedal and he just walked up to the microphone and said, 'Noooooo. No guitar solos. No wah-wah.' And I was blown away. [Laughs]

"He had his musical preferences. He had his musical boundaries. And he was not shy in letting us know what those preferences and boundaries were."

In a 2012 interview with Spin, Ulrich admitted that the band was caught off guard by the vehement reaction to "Lulu", saying, "It was more spiteful than anyone was prepared for. Especially against Lou. He is such a sweet man. But when METALLICA do impulsive riffing and Lou Reed is reciting abstract poetry about German bohemians from 150 years ago, it can be difficult to embrace."

Asked whether the band had second thoughts over some of Reed's lyrics, like "I swallow your sharpest cutter / Like a colored man's dick," Ulrich said, "I understand that to some 13-year-old in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, it can all seem a little cringe-worthy, but to someone raised in an art community in Copenhagen in the late '60s, that was expected."

The collaboration between METALLICA and Reed was sparked by their performance together of Reed's "Sweet Jane" and "White Light/White Heat" at the 25th anniversary of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame at Madison Square Garden in October of 2009.

The songs were all written by Reed with extensive arrangement contributions by METALLICA.

Only two songs on the album are under five minutes in length, while two are more than 11 minutes long and the closing cut, "Junior Dad", clocks in at 19 minutes.

Reed died in October 2013 at the age of 71, five months after he had a life-saving liver transplant, according to his wife, Laurie Anderson.

DEF LEPPARD Drummer RICK ALLEN Violently Assaulted Outside Florida Hotel

DEF LEPPARD Drummer RICK ALLEN Violently Assaulted Outside Florida Hotel

Daily Mail is reporting that a teenager has been bailed after he assaulted Def Leppard drummer, Rick Allen, outside the Four Seasons in Florida.

Allen was in Florida to perform a show with the band at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino over the weekend – co-headlining with Mötley Crüe. He had been staying at the Four Seasons and had gone outside for a cigarette when he was violently attacked by Max Edward Hartley, 19.

A police report from Fort Lauderdale Police said Hartley, from Ohio, was hiding behind a pillar outside the hotel before he rushed at the drummer and knocked him to the ground - causing him to hit his head.

Allen, who sadly lost his arm in a car accident back in 1984, provided a sworn statement to police and told them that he wanted Hartley to be prosecuted.

Authorities confirmed that Allen 'hit his head on the ground causing injury', with a woman rushing out of the hotel to help him. But Hartley then attacked her, hitting her multiple times and dragging her by her hair before fleeing the area.

IRON ALLIES Feat. Former ACCEPT Members HERMAN FRANK And DAVID REECE: Video Of Trübbach, Switzerland Concert

IRON ALLIES Feat. Former ACCEPT Members HERMAN FRANK And DAVID REECE: Video Of Trübbach, Switzerland Concert

IRON ALLIES, the new band featuring former ACCEPT members Herman Frank and David Reece, played its second concert on March 11 at Jonnys Lion-Cave in Trübbach, Switzerland. Fan-filmed video of the show can be seen below.

IRON ALLIES' debut album, "Blood In Blood Out", arrived last October via AFM Records.

Frank comments: "This record cannot be compared to anything David or I have produced in our past. It's at the same time standing on its own, while sounding like it came from the one and the same mold. You could say: the two of us have sought and found each other."

Although these two exceptional musicians had known each other for a very long time, sparks really started to fly during Frank's visit to Piacenza, Italy, where the American-born Reece has been living after marrying an Italian woman.

"We hit it off right away because David — like me — is not only an old warhorse, but a total music lover," Herman says. "It's only with this unswerving passion for music that you can last as long as we have in this shark tank.

"I love David's voice, that unique blend of metal, rock and blues. Also, he's an awesome lyricist and as a U.S.-American he obviously has a much greater range of vocabulary than non-English-speaking singers."

"In a way, 'Blood In Blood Out' is the motto of IRON ALLIES," Herman explains. "This band was formed as a blood brotherhood, and no one gets out of here without shedding blood.

"Blood In Blood Out" was recorded at Horus Sound Studio in Hannover, Germany with co-producer Arne Neurand. Joining Frank and Reece on the IRON ALLIES album, which was mixed and mastered by Dennis Ward, are drummer Francesco Jovino (U.D.O., PRIMAL FEAR, VOODOO CIRCLE, JORN),bassist Malte Burkert and rhythm guitarist Mike Pesin.

Frank says: "We left nothing to chance. All positions were perfectly cast."

IRON ALLIES are more than sure that this concept will also convince concert organizers, tour promoters and especially their fans. Because, as Frank puts it, "People love strong characters. They want to see real men, not little boys. IRON ALLIES is made up of old-school knights and 'Blood In Blood Out' provides the perfect soundtrack for that."

In October 2021, Reece discussed his collaboration with Frank in an interview with the "Heavy Metal Mayhem" radio show. He said: "The ironic thing about Herman and I, we played festivals many times and not even met each other. And here we are, part of the same band and their history. And we would miss each other by, like, two minutes. We always wanted to see each other, but something came up [and] we never really got to meet. So Herman and I started talking, and we said, 'Yeah, let's put a band together. Who do you wanna get?' We talked to [drummer] Mike Heller from FEAR FACTORY a few times, and that didn't really work out. And then I said, 'I've got Francesco Jovino, dude, on my [solo] album. This guy is a beast.' So then we got the band together."

Regarding the musical direction of IRON ALLIES, Reece said: "It's got some of those elements of old [ACCEPT circa] 'Restless And Wild'. It's got Dave's voice — [as heard on my solo albums] 'Cacophony [Of Souls]' and 'Blacklist [Utopia]'. It's ripping shit, man. I'm really excited about it."

According to Reece, part of the motivation for putting IRON ALLIES together is the negative publicity surrounding their respective departures from ACCEPT. "They badmouth him, they badmouth me, there was this back-and-forth all the time, and then [Herman] said, 'You know what? Screw it. I'm gonna call David Reece,'" David explained. "And I'd never really talked to him. He just came down to Italy about two weeks ago, and we got to actually meet face to face. We went out to a great dinner, hung out for about six hours. He was just driving around Europe, relaxing, 'cause he had just finished another VICTORY album and his solo album, so he needed a break."

David said that he was excited about the prospect of hitting the road with a seasoned veteran like Herman.

"This is a band of guys who have been around and done it all," he said. "So we're not gonna have that, 'Oh, I don't wanna go there. Do we have to get up so early?' We know what we've gotta do. We've gotta travel and we've gotta rock."

Herman joined ACCEPT in 1982 shortly before the release of the band's "Restless And Wild" album and exited the group for the first time after the arrival of 1983's "Balls To The Wall" LP.

When ACCEPT reunited for festival appearances in 2005, Herman handled second-guitar duties alongside founding axeman Wolf Hoffmann, with Stefan Schwarzmann sitting behind the kit.

Frank and Schwarzmann were involved in ACCEPT's comeback with singer Mark Tornillo and appeared on the reunited group's first three studio albums: 2010's "Blood Of The Nations", 2012's "Stalingrad" and 2014's "Blind Rage".

Three years ago, Herman told All That Shreds about his decision to exit ACCEPT in December 2014: "It was just time to leave the band. Let's put it this way: I wanted to do music the way I started to. I wanted to have my own band. I wanted my own music and just wanted to just play my own leads. Not to follow somebody's guitar. I was getting too old for it. It's fine to be a backup, but after a couple of years, it's time for a different thing."

Reece was recruited for ACCEPT's "Eat The Heat" LP in 1989 following the departure of Udo Dirkschneider. Reece's higher-pitched delivery was in sharp contrast to Dirkschneider's distinctive style, and overall, the album was a critical and commercial disappointment. Midway through the "Eat The Heat" tour, differences between the band and Reece had come to a head, leading to the altercation between the singer and bassist Peter Baltes in Chicago. By the end of 1989, ACCEPT had hung it up.

David spoke about the circumstances that led to his dispute with the bassist during an interview with Metalliluola. He explained: "Peter had told my girlfriend I was having an affair. And I asked him, 'Did you tell her?' And he said, 'Yes.' So I slapped him. That ended it. It was bad before that, the communication. Ticket sales weren't good. We were opening for W.A.S.P."

He continued: "I think they really thought that getting the American [singer] in, they were gonna break the United States. But ACCEPT aren't really huge in America, like [in Europe]. That's why they hired me — they wanted a change. And the tour was going kind of slow. We did a headline tour first in the States, [playing in the] clubs. That was good. And then we went out with W.A.S.P. and METAL CHURCH, and it was half[-filled] rooms. So they were feeling the stress of that, and the communication was bad. So it was building."

David went on to say that he is sorry for assaulting his former bandmate. "Peter and I are friends now," he said, adding that "it was a bad decision" that was made while he and the rest of the group were under "a lot of stress. Being in a band, it can be a lot of drama. He had no right to tell her, and I had no right to slap him. So, I regret it."

Italian dark metal veterans Cadaveria have released the lyric video for the track "La Casa dell'Anima", first and only song ever made by the band in its native language.

Cadaveria herself:

“In my heart I have wanted to propose a song in Italian for years, but I've always stopped myself for so many reasons. Singing in Italian is a bit like getting naked, looking in the mirror, choosing not to hide behind translated words, but expressing yourself without any filter with the language used in everyday life. The exploration of other cultures, the approach to shamanism and the life experiences of the last five years have finally freed me from any preconceptions.

“I am happy to be able to tell you in my language about this journey out of the body and out of time, which I made guided by the rhythm of the shamanic drum.

An experience to clean up, reconcile, make room and be reborn. So, enjoy the video, in Italian with English translation. Cheers and horns up.”

"La Casa dell'Anima" comes from Cadaveria’s latest album Emptiness, released last year via Time To Kill Records and available everywhere.

INCENDIARY Announce Change The Way You Think About Pain Album; “Bite The Hook” Single Streaming

Incendiary — Brendan Garrone, vocals; Brian Audley, guitar; Rob Nobile, guitar; and Dan Lomeli, drums — have announced their new album Change The Way You Think About Pain. The album arrives on May 26 via Closed Casket Activities. Preorder at closedcasketactivities.com.

New single “Bite The Hook” is streaming below.

"Much of the content of the record deals with the idea of pain, specifically pain avoidance," says Garrone. "'Bite The Hook' is about the struggles one faces when letting something fester and go unresolved. The song's aggression and vibe sets the tone for the rest of the record."

Audley weighs in about the album as a whole, saying, "The goal with this album was to refine our songwriting and deliver it more aggressively. The expectation for a hardcore band on their fourth LP may be to start sanding the edges off and becoming more polished and anthemic. We wanted to go the complete opposite direction and make them sharper.  Will Putney understood the assignment from the first day we stepped into his studio. He helped us execute on our goal by bringing out the most aggressive elements for the abrasive production the songs called for."
