TETRARCH Release "Negative Noise" Drum Playthrough Video

TETRARCH Release "Negative Noise" Drum Playthrough Video

Los Angeles- based breakout metal stars, Tetrarch, have released a drum playthrough video for "Negative Noise", featured on the band's sophomore album, Unstable, released back in April. Watch the clip below:

Produced by the band and Dave Otero (Cattle Decapitation, Allegaeon, Khemmis), Unstable follows the band’s breakout debut Freak (2017). The new album shines not only as a natural step forward for Tetrarch, but a giant leap ahead - an even more focused effort combining bright flourishes, grooving low-end and soaring choruses. Unstable wastes no time igniting with the unforgettable, punching first single “I’m Not Right”. Boosted by frontman Josh Fore’s raw emotion and dynamic vocal style, the track pays homage to the genre’s greats while lifted by the eerie leads of trailblazing lead guitarist Diamond Rowe. Radio-ready, lyrically-relevant tracks like anti-bullying anthem for the ages “Sick Of You” and empowering “You Never Listen” showcase Tetrarch’s hefty progressions and unforgettable choruses. Unstable’s heaviest offerings prove the band’s dynamic assault of varying heavy styles, most notedly on assertive breakneck burner “Negative Noise” - a track that will turn the heads of metal’s greatest riffers with Rowe’s mighty axe attack - and on the melodically chilling “Take A Look Inside”, highlighting the powerful rhythm section of bassist Ryan Lerner and drummer Ruben Limas. The album explores a brooding, introspective side of the band on the standout, melodic “Addicted” and closer track “Trust Me”, which trickles-in supernatural atmosphere. Delivering heavy hit after hit, Unstable is 10 tracks of pure potency and undeniable talent.

INNER STREAM Release "Dance With Shades" Lyric Video

INNER STREAM Release "Dance With Shades" Lyric Video

Frontiers Music Srl will release Inner Stream's new album, Stain The Sea, on July 16. Watch a lyric video for the song "Dance With Shades" below, and pre-order/save Stain The Sea here.

Inner Stream blends elements of different sub-genres and styles like symphonic metal, electronic, goth, and nü metal, among others. Pushing musical boundaries, the songs hold rich varieties of climates and textures, heavy riffs, powerful melodies, and emotional moments.

"The musical influences for this album are  symphonic metal, electronic, goth, and nü metal, among others. Bands like Lacuna Coil, Evanescence, and Within Temptation are maybe the more related bands I can name, but as a  big metal fan, my personal song list is full of different things that always inspired me. Korn, Deathstars, Disturbed, The Birthday Massacre, Portishead, Massive Attack, Symphony X, Angra, Sonata Arctica, Queensrÿche, Bring Me The Horizon, and so on," says vocalist Inés Vera Ortiz of her musical influences.

"'Massive Drain' is the last song I did for the album and this happened during lockdown, in a very strange moment of humanity. Like many other people, I found myself in an extremely introspective moment that coincided with the album recording. The concept, the lyrics, and the music came together in two days alone at my place in Spain. The message was clear from the beginning and a kindly reminder for me. The pain that carries the awakening is a birth, a relief. Intuition is a compass to go through it,” says Vera Ortiz of the first single from the album.

Label President Serafino Perugino wanted to highlight the talents of vocalist Inés Vera Ortiz and sought to pair her with producer Alessandro Del Vecchio to highlight her songs and voice.  Inner Stream started off in 2008 as a project concocted by Vera Ortiz and her brother Jorge in Buenos Aires, Argentina. At that time, Inés was the vocalist for some local power metal bands, but her songwriting was headed in a different direction. Subsequently, Inés and Jorge recorded a three song demo that was more in a goth metal direction. Afterward, Inés continued composing music on her own and attempted to put a band together, but ultimately decided to set aside the idea for a while. She continued to work on other projects for both Argentinian and international bands while biding her time. In 2017, she teamed up with Guillermo De Medio, an Argentinian keyboard player and producer (Tarja Turunen, Full Nothing, Barilari, etc.), who was undoubtedly the right fit to help Inés work on her songs and bring the vision of Inner Stream together. Now, in 2021, Inés and Inner stream have joined forces with Frontiers Music Srl for the release of their upcoming album, “Stain The Sea”  as well as future releases.

"I am very excited and proud to be a part of the Frontiers family," says Vera Ortiz. "This opportunity came at the right time in which the concept of the project reached a peak of maturity and clear vision. While my songwriting is varied, my heart is very close to metal and I will never look away from it. The first album will include songs written during the last few years and I feel they represent well this long journey through lots of different, important, and emotional moments of my life. I am very happy to be able to share those personal moments with everyone.”

JOE BONAMASSA Interviews DAVID COVERDALE On New Episode Of Live From Nerdville; Video

JOE BONAMASSA Interviews DAVID COVERDALE On New Episode Of Live From Nerdville; Video

On the most recent instalment of Joe Bonamassa’s hit interview series Live From Nerdville, rock legend David Coverdale of Whitesnake and Deep Purple comes to share some stories. Watch the entire interview unfold below.

Coverdale and Bonamassa share their love of the Blues and talk about Joe’s early starts. Somehow, even though the two have chatted many times before, David wasn’t aware that Joe was a child prodigy. This leads into a conversation about David’s early inspirations. Coverdale says that it was his mother’s side of the family that were the voices. “I grew up on the Irish Blues sometimes known as rebellion Blues.” But for him, his vocals were another way to express himself! His aunt, who was only a couple years older than him, turned out to have a great deal of influence.

“She would spend her money on single records. She is also the one who allowed me to stand in front of this large speaker to hear ‘Jailhouse Rock’ by Elvis and Little Richard.” He then tells Joe that his ambition at seven years old was to someday be an artist. Saying later that he studied to be an art teacher and graphic designer.  “We’re going to do a knock-off that tie in next week’s merch!” Joe jokes.

David goes on to say that he’s like the Billy Elliott story, a person in a strange environment wanting to burst out and certainly become a singer but the industrial north was just too much to envision. “As for the Blues aspect, I got into was another universe moving in a strange way. The music lesson happened around age 12, the normal classroom teacher was ill so the substitute (aka the science teacher), says I have no idea what I’m going to teach you today! So, he starts playing records for us to listen to which is Leadbelly, Sydney J, Lomax recordings and it was magic!”

They discuss the difference between Blues in England compared to the United States. They talk about Chicago Blues, How Coverdale met Muddy for a moment, because they were both playing in Chicago. Coverdale compares the Blues in England along the lines of the movie the Commitments how it was a struggle in those days and the Blues was coming from the industrial areas and a lot more pressure on these people because they have a lot more pressure to release.

“Literally before the Beatles, I thought everything was black & white!” – David Coverdale

MARILLION To Release Special Live Album, With Friends At St David's, In July; "Seasons End" Video Streaming

MARILLION To Release Special Live Album, With Friends At St David's, In July; "Seasons End" Video Streaming

On July 23, Marillion will release their new live album, With Friends At St David’s, recorded in Cardiff in November 2019.

It all started with the release of With Friends From The Orchestra in 2019, when Marillion teamed up with In Praise Of Folly, a string quartet accompanied by Sam Morris (French Horn) and Emma Halnan (Flute), to record a stunning album full of re-arranged Marillion treasures. That same year, Marillion took these very special versions on tour and even added a few more highlights like "Gaza" and "Zeperated Out" to the setlist, presenting them in a whole new light.

With Friends At St David's is not only a visually and sonically remarkable live album, but also a dedication to crossing musical boundaries and making "friends" outside of one genre and musical universe. The DVD and Blu-ray of this release offer even more, as they come with the previously unreleased documentary "Making Friends", which shows Marillion in the studio during the making of With Friends From The Orchestra.

With this release, Marillion offer a special treat to the fans and sweeten the wait for their new studio album currently in the works, the follow-up to the critically acclaimed and chart-topping F*** Everyone And Run (F E A R).

Steve Hogarth about the album and tour: "Possibly our favourite ever tour. A chance for us to occasionally pause and lose ourselves in our six “classical" musicians interpreting our Producer Mike’s beautiful arrangements, bringing another emotional dimension, and often a playful joy to our music."

“Seasons End”, originally from 1989’s album of the same name, is the first song to be revealed from this album along with an official video that grants an exclusive peak into a special and emotional evening, recorded on the 16th November 2019 during the Friends From The Orchestra Tour. Watch below.

With Friends From The Orchestra will be released via earMUSIC as CD Digipak, 3LP Gatefold(180g), Ltd. Coloured 3LP (Violet transparent), DVD and Blu-ray on July 23rd, 2021. Pre-order here.

FIREWIND's GUS G. Releases "Fierce" Guitar Playthrough Video

Firewind guitarist Gus G. has released a guitar playthrough video for his new solo single, "Fierce". Check it out below, and get the single here

Upon the release of the "Fierce" music video (available below) Gus G. stated: "Boo! 👻 Check out the video for my brand new single, 'Fierce'! Don’t be scared, this is just a love story… 😈 I came up with the concept of a lonely rock star who eventually finds true love in the eyes of “Necromantissa” - a girl he previously kept hostage in his dungeon. Music finally unites them and they live happily ever after and even form a metal band. Nightmare or reality?? We had tons of fun shooting this, getting in full makeup. I love certain black metal & shock rock aesthetics & wanted to try something different, instead of doing yet another performance video. And I also wanted to make a video with my cats too. Many thanks to Panagiotis Kountouras for the excellent directing once again, my immortal beloved & our cats Marquise and Leon."

CHAOS RISING Debut "Lullabies Of Madness" Music Video

CHAOS RISING Debut "Lullabies Of Madness" Music Video

International all-female metal collective, Chaos Rising, have released their fifteenth video, "Lullabies Of Madness". Founded by French multi-instrumentalist Stéphanie Nolf (Unsafe, Syrinx), Chaos Rising is a unique project that brings together female metal musicians from across the globe.

The new song "Lullabies Of Madness", is a death metal track composed by Chaos Rising guitarist Barbara Teleki (Hungary/UK) and featuring her awesome shredding.

Says Barbara: ,“For me writing is rather about channelling a certain feeling, than a thought. However as this song contains lyrics, it's a humble attempt to describe how part of humanity is pulling apart, while other parts are gravitating closer to each other over certain ideas, beliefs. Some groups are choosing to live in uncertainty and fear, others to perceive happenings from a more hopeful perspective. And if those two sides collide, you might end up labelled, abandoned. But there's only the Absolute Truth."

"Lullabies Of Madness" also features vocals from Stéphanie Nolf (France), bass from Natalia Rozanova (Russia) and drums all the way from Brazil with Janaina Melo.

Chaos Rising is blazing a trail, and not only by providing opportunities for women and gender minorities to become involved in all aspects of metal music. These girls are innovating fast, exemplifying how musicians are networking to adapt and create amidst current challenges.

Former METAL CHURCH / TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA Singer RONNY MUNROE's BETWEEN WORLDS To Release Debut Album In September; "Between Worlds" Music Video Streaming

Former METAL CHURCH / TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA Singer RONNY MUNROE's BETWEEN WORLDS To Release Debut Album In September; "Between Worlds" Music Video Streaming

Frontiers Music Srl welcomes the new melodic metal project, Between Worlds, to the label. The band is a vehicle for vocalist Ronny Munroe (ex-Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Metal Church) and highlights his incredible vocal talents.

The self-titled debut album will be released on September 10, 2021. Written and produced in partnership with Alessandro Del Vecchio, this album is a must hear for fans of classic American heavy/power metal. The first preview of the album is available today with the release of the single and video for the title track. Watch the video below, and pre-order/save Between Worlds here.

"The song 'Between Worlds' is about how when unexpected changes in life occur, as they did with myself and my late wife. You find yourself not knowing what to do as you are lost in the mist and you really don't know what is going to happen next. So, basically, you are caught between worlds," says Munroe of the first single from the album.

He continues, "When Ale[ssandro Del Vecchio] contacted me and asked if I wanted to write some songs with him, I jumped on it because I have a lot of respect for him as a musician, writer, producer, engineer, and so on. He does it all and does it very well. That's why we call him the "Maestro". When writing the songs on my end, I just stayed true to myself and didn't really change anything up. I have always written somewhat about my life and the things that I have gone through. I find writing to be very cathartic and I've had, and have, a lot to say. Musically, I write the same.  Alessandro and Pete just wrote what they felt and I really can't say what or who the songs may sound like, to me they sound like Between Worlds and I really look forward to building on the foundation that Alessandro and I have started."

Ronny Munroe first came to prominence in the metal world when he stepped into the role of frontman for the legendary band Metal Church. During an audition for a project principal Metal Church member Kurdt Vanderhoof was working on, Ronny was first put on Kurdt's radar. After watching Munroe's performance, Vanderhoof decided to resurrect Metal Church with Ronny on lead vocals. He would go on to sing four albums with the band, The Weight Of The World (2004), A Light In The Dark (2006), This Present Wasteland (2008), and Generation Nothing (2013). Ronny would also wind up singing for Vanderhoof's progressive rock project, Presto Ballet, further showcasing his vocal talents.

In another sign of the power of his voice, in 2011, Ronny was asked to join the mighty Trans-Siberian Orchestra, which further highlighted his vocal talents and showcased his voice to the popular act's audience.

After a break from music for personal reasons, Ronny joined Steve Smyth’s (Forbidden, Nevermore) band One Machine in 2019 before starting work on the, at the time, as yet untitled Between Worlds project with Alessandro Del Vecchio. Munroe and Del Vecchio got in touch at the end of 2019 with the idea of writing some songs together and creating a musical project centered around Ronny's vocal abilities and songwriting. Alessandro invited his longtime songwriting partner Pete Alpenborg to join forces with them and sent the first four demos to Frontiers, who moved quickly to sign them to the label. Between Worlds was thus formally born.

Ronny and Alessandro wanted to involve people in the project that would resonate with Ronny's history in music and put their mark on this incredible set of songs, so Johnny Lee Middleton (Trans-Siberian Orchestra), Chris Caffery (TSO, Savatage, Spirits Of Fire), Jack Frost (Seven Witches, Savatage), and Joel Hoekstra (also of Whitesnake) all contributed.  Fans of Crimson Glory, Metal Church, and Classic American power metal will revel in hearing Ronny deliver some of his best vocal performances to date, while telling the story of his rebirth in music. Ronny poured his soul into the performance, with musical power and melody lifting him up during the process.

NANOWAR OF STEEL Release Music Video For New Single "La Polenta Taragnarock"

NANOWAR OF STEEL Release Music Video For New Single "La Polenta Taragnarock"

With their recent comeback to metal after temporarily transforming into a pop boyband, Nanowar Of Steel are back with their beloved brand of comedy infused heavy metal, taking their fans on a journey through the roots of their beautiful homeland of Italy on their new album, Italian Folk Metal, out July 2 via Napalm Records.

On their brand new offering, the five-piece takes its fans on a journey through the roots of their beautiful homeland. Starting with the first single “Der Fluch des Käptn Iglo”, an homage to the all beloved fried dish fishsticks by Captain Findus, followed by hilarious power metal anthem “Gabonzo Robot”, Nanowar Of Steel express their love for polenta on the new single "La Polenta Taragnarok”.

Says the band: “'La Polenta Taragnarock' is more than a song. It is also more than just food. It is an anthem which we wrote one year ago on a direct livestream with our fans, and merges our two souls - Italian food lovers and metal addicted vikings - into a single product. Moreover, we managed to get our hero and master of stainless steel Giorgio Mastrota to sing and act with us in the video. It's a dream embodied in 500gr of golden, tasty corn flour.”

Filled with references to Italian folklore, Nanowar Of Steel puts its own comedic metal twist on the various traditional sounds of their beautiful country.

Each song on Italian Folk Metal is performed in a distinct style of Italian folk music: Napoli-based sounds of musica neomelodica clash with melodic guitar sweeps on “Scugnizzi of the Land of Fires" and speedy accordions (prominently known from northern Italy‘s mazurka) are layered with dizzying guitar solos on “La Mazurka del Vecchio che Guarda i Cantieri".

Mixed with the band‘s eclectic, comprehensive brand of catchy, comedy-infused metal, Italian Folk Metal is a truly multi-faceted listening experience and a deep dive into the roots of Italy’s folklore! In the process of recording the new album in Rome and Milan during the summer of 2020, Nanowar Of Steel took the Italian-focused theme as an opportunity to gather Italy’s crème de la creme of musicianship: the album features Francesco Paoli from Fleshgod Apocalypse on “L’assedio di Porto Cervo”, Alessandro Conti of Luca Turilli's Rhapsody and Trick Or Treat fame on “La Mazurka del Vecchio che Guarda i Cantieri” and Frozen Crown’s Jade on “Rosario", among others. Italian Folk Metal showcases Nanowar Of Steel’s musical versatility at its best!

THE AGONIST Singer VICKY PSARAKIS Shares One-Take Live Vocal Performance Of "In Vertigo" (Video)

THE AGONIST Singer VICKY PSARAKIS Shares One-Take Live Vocal Performance Of "In Vertigo" (Video)

The Agonist vocalist Vicky Psarakis has shared a new video accompanied with the following message:

"Here's my one-take vocal performance of "In Vertigo" from The Agonist's latest album, Orphans."

September 2019 saw melodic death metal juggernaut, The Agonist, release their sixth studio album, Orphans, via Rodeostar Records.  With Orphans the band delivered their most extreme, melodic, and larger-than-life sounding record to date.

The band released an official video for the title track of Orphans. Filmed in haunting black and white, the video dances between striking, dramatic and abstract images of frontwoman Vicky Psarakis as she delivers the eerie message of the track: “The story behind 'Orphans' was inspired by the novel, We Have Always Lived In The Castle, by Shirley Jackson. It emphasizes the feeling of "not belonging" and the social and physical isolation that comes as a result of that. Even though we've all felt like outcasts at some point in our lives, it's important to remember that we're never truly alone and that there's always someone there for you. We're all "orphans", but we're in this life together.”

Order Orphans here.

DRAEMORA Unveil “Victorious” Music Video, Tour Dates

DRAEMORA Unveil “Victorious” Music Video, Tour Dates

Seattle progressive metalcore outfit Draemora has shared their latest music video for the track “Victorious” from their new album Death Rectangle, recently unleashed on June 18th.

“Victorious” was written right after guitarist Terry Paulson got a new 7-string guitar that was tuned to drop G. Instantly inspired by its sound, he completed the whole song in an evening. Showing it to his bandmates, the final version of “Victorious” was done in just a few days. Debating and anxious to release, the band originally thought of sharing the song as a single during the pandemic, but in the end, Draemora decided that it would be best positioned on their new full length.

“We were going to actually separate it from the album and let it be a song on its own, but at the last minute, we decided it was the perfect way to end the album because it has that great classic formula in there with a twist to the parts that really puts our stamp on it in a great way. We want people to enjoy it live, so we made big choruses and really big recognizable parts,” says the band.

Completely DIY with all the recordings done in guitarrist Terry Paulson's home studio including the mixing and mastering, Draemora's first full-length Death Rectangle has a lot more depth than their previous work, 2020's debut EP Awakening. The band claim that has to do with the growing cohesiveness that comes with being together for over a year at this point. They also mention that this time around they were able to slow down and let everything come together, try out parts in the practice space a lot and make changes based on how they sounded performed to shorten the gap between live and studio performance. They continue to explain:

"Lyrically with Death Rectangle we wanted to make songs that anyone could very easily imprint their own life into. These songs all have deep meaning to us, but we stayed away from using any specific references so that the listener could make it whatever their imagination wants it to be. We think that is the best way to make a song. Musically, this collection of songs is mostly dark and heavy sounding. It wasn't intentional, but when this was written we were all locked up and lost our jobs, and had to watch the world riot and go nuts so we’re not surprised it sounds that way."

Tracklisting:

"The Cleansing"
"Slaves Until Death"
"Death Rectangle"
"Requiem"
"What You've Become"
"Gouge Out My Eyes"
"Blood Moon"
"Screaming Into The Void"

DARK STATION Release Reimagined Version Of "Misery" Single; Music Video

DARK STATION Release Reimagined Version Of "Misery" Single; Music Video

Dark Station has released the reimagined version of their single "Misery" to all major platforms. This version of the single will be included on their upcoming 5-song EP titled Afterlight that features reimagined songs from their previous album Down In The Dark.

"Nathan wrote this song about the relationship between Harley Quinn and The Joker, but I think anyone who has been in a toxic relationship will identify with the lyrics. Instrumentally, we put everything together with Jeremy and Brandon Wolfe at Wolfe Studios. I really love how this version of the song turned out. I think it shows a different side of the band and I think a lot of people will appreciate that," says Kyle Ort, the band's guitarist.

He adds, "We wanted the video to feel like a live performance, almost like the viewer was in the room with us, so we did the entire video in 2 shots with minimal editing. The film location was Big Bear, California and I remember the temperature dropped to around 20 degrees while we were filming the outside shot. I could barely feel my hands as I was playing guitar. It definitely wasn't an ideal situation, but we did it!"

Dark Station is:

Nathan Spades - Vocals
Kyle Ort - Guitar
David Bruno - Guitar
Eric Sinful - Bass
Dylan Roy - Drums

TODAY IS THE DAY Founder Steve Austin Reissues Entire Back Catalog Through His SuperNova Records; New Material Plus Albums From GRIDFAILURE And WOORMS Confirmed

TODAY IS THE DAY Founder Steve Austin Reissues Entire Back Catalog Through His SuperNova Records; New Material Plus Albums From GRIDFAILURE And WOORMS Confirmed

SuperNova Records, the independent underground label owned by Today Is The Day founder Steve Austin and distributed by The Orchard/Sony, is ramping up for a busy 2021. Austin has retained the master rights to Today Is The Day’s entire catalog and will reissue each title across all digital platforms and in physical formats, including Bandcamp where the entire catalog is now currently playing. The label also announces the signing of Gridfailure and Woorms.

Initially the label name Austin gave to release Today Is The Day’s groundbreaking How To Win Friends And Influence People demo in 1992, SuperNova Records was most prevalent in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The label will now return in full capacity, housing the band’s entire catalog under one roof, including the titles initially released through Amphetamine Reptile Records, Relapse Records, Blackmarket Activities, Southern Lord Recordings, The End Records, and BMG.

SuperNova will deliver all the original Today Is The Day music and art masters 100% true to their original release; a dedication in sound and art to bring the original experiences that were had throughout the years to both long time listeners and new fans. With only overall volume levels being adjusted through mastering to current modern times standards, the craftsmanship that made these groundbreaking releases what they were is being preserved, so that the listener can experience the vast catalog without any alteration or deviance from the original powerful music and message. The titles How To Win Friends and Influence People, Supernova, Willpower, Today Is The Day, Temple Of The Morning Star, In The Eyes of God, Live Till You Die, Sadness Will Prevail, Kiss The Pig, Axis Of Eden, Pain Is A Warning, Animal Mother, and No Good To Anyone are being reissued, at first digitally, with a systematic rollout of each title on vinyl, CD, and cassette to follow. The first title that will be put into physical production will be the band’s seminal second LP and fan favorite, Willpower. Today Is The Day will also release a new album through the label in 2022.

SuperNova will also selectively be releasing other outside artists that have this same outlaw musical vision. The first signings of the label include the experimentally destructive creation called Gridfailure and the wild noise-rocking offerings of Woorms.

New York City-area’s Gridfailure is the hostile sonic experiment of David Brenner, longtime underground lifer and friend of Austin. Through this project, Brenner has created a sound that is unclassifiable and confrontational; harsh and exploding with raw elements, the band is indefinable in sound and style. With distorted, insane vocals sounding like a man being burned at the stake, the project is psychedelic and disorienting, delivering brutal progressions of sound collages that twist your head and make you rethink your existence. Though ever-sonically crushing, the songs take on different forms of trance-like experience and you find yourself falling further and further away into a smoldering, apocalyptic realm filled with nightmares, pain, and horror. Brenner will record Gridfailure’s SuperNova debut with Austin in Maine this Summer for an early 2022 release.

Baton Rouge, Louisiana’s Woorms comes in heavy with a multifaceted approach to what some would call noise rock, but there is way more to it. This ultra-talented trio unifies guitar/vocal madman Joey Carbo, rhythmic master Aaron Polk, and ultra-low frequency deviant John Robinson. Austin discovered the band in Ohio while on tour after Woorms had made an eight-hundred-mile trek just to open for Today Is The Day; he was immediately struck by the off-kilter musical arrangements and pummeling sound. With driving, intense songs that bob and weave and simply knock your fuckin’ teeth out, their unique brand of heavy noise rock and demented songs offers a glimpse of what it was like to be around in the early-1990s with the output of The Jesus Lizard and the Melvins coming to life. Woorms made their way to Austin Enterprise in late 2020 to record their upcoming SuperNova debut which will see release in 2022.

Today Is The Day’s entire catalog is now streaming and available for discounted preorder at the new SuperNova Records Bandcamp here.

Every record will also be issued through all digital providers July 16th. See a brief teaser and more at the new label website here.

Stand by for much more from SuperNova Records to post in the days ahead and onward as more details are confirmed.

HEAVEN & EARTH Streaming New Song "Never Dream Of Dying"

HEAVEN & EARTH Streaming New Song "Never Dream Of Dying"

Heaven & Earth will return on July 16 with their fifth studio album, the aptly titled V. Listen to the song "Never Dream Of Dying" below, and pre-order/save V here.

Heaven & Earth's lineup now includes Gianluca Petralia (vocals), Stuart Smith (guitars), Lynn Sorensen (bass), George Barabas (Hammond organ and keyboard), and Simon Wright (drums, percussion). They have become an international band with an Italian singer, a Hungary-based keyboardist, and two British transplants living in the US amongst their ranks. These five incredible rock musicians have banded together to record this magnificent new album, V.

"Personally, I feel that this is our best album yet. It has a much harder edge than the previous albums. The chemistry between the new musicians was amazing," says guitarist Stuart Smith.

"It’s been an incredible five-month ride made of impulsive writing and recording with outstanding musicians I’m now honored to call friends. From the very beginning, it felt like this album was already there. It just needed to be delivered…it was like a scream to exorcise the bleak reality we’re living right now,” says vocalist Gianluca Petralia.

"I've been a big fan of Heaven & Earth since their first album so when Stuart asked me to join the band it was like something any fan or musician could dream of. I enjoyed the whole recording process and we had lay down some serious hard rock songs for this new record," adds keyboardist George Barabas.

"Heaven & Earth V is rock before it became polished like jewelry. It's attitude with dirt on its face. As two of our members were in different countries it was logistically challenging to record, but everyone rallied together like a great band should," says bassist Lynn Sorensen.

"I'm glad I had the opportunity to play on this Heaven and Earth album. Incredible musicians and some classy songwriting," says drummer Simon Wright.

V is an absolute must hear for all lovers of Rainbow, early Whitesnake, and Bad Company and that general era of amazing hard rock.

GORY BLISTER Announce New Drummer, Begin Work On New Album

GORY BLISTER Announce New Drummer, Begin Work On New Album

Italian death metal veterans, Gory Blister, have announced that after 30 years of activity, the drummer and original band member, Joe Laviola, has left the band permanently. Despite the difficult moment, due also the pandemic, Gory Blister managed to continue their journey by joining forces with drummer Gianluca D'Andria, already in the band 6th Counted Murder.

Raff Sangiorgio (guitar) states: "Joe's departure was a hard blow to everyone in the band, and we were forced to stop our musical activities, not only because of the pandemic but also for this important reason. We were at a crossroads, choosing to continue making music or stop. We decided to continue because music is the most important thing in our life, so instead of sitting down, we decided to move on anyway. Gianluca showed strength and determination from the first audition, and in the months of rehearsals that followed, he confirmed his determination and will to want to do well what we do. This is a new beginning for Gory Blister, and even the new songs will be positively influenced by the drumming of Gianluca, our new drummer."

Compatibly with the strong limitations due to the pandemic situation, the band still managed to rehearse with the new drummer, preparing the live set for the concerts that will come in the near future. Below you can seen two songs recently recorded live in the studio with the new lineup.

Gory Blister are now back at 100%, and soon they will start working on a new album as well, at the moment there are three songs in the pipeline. Stay tuned for more news to come.

Gory Blister lineup:

John St John - Vocals
Raff Sangiorgio - Guitars
Fabiano Andreacchio -  Bass
Gianluca D'Andria - Drums

CRASH MIDNIGHT Release New Single “Nothin’ To Lose”

CRASH MIDNIGHT Release New Single “Nothin’ To Lose”

Las Vegas-based rockers Crash Midnight have released their new single “Nothin’ To Lose”.

A gritty account of the band cutting its teeth in the Boston club scene, "Nothin’ To Lose" covers their journey from those formative years all the way up through becoming the highest-drawing independent rock band in their new home city of Las Vegas. It dives into the seedy bars, late-night encounters, and raucous drive that gave birth to Crash Midnight's street-level spirit. The track delivers an attitude-laden rock anthem that's become a rallying cry to the unbreakable ambition that fuels their "us against the world" mentality.

Hot on the heels of back-to-back sold-out shows in downtown Las Vegas that served as the first major concerts to occur in the city since the shutdown began over a year ago, the single is drenched in the trademark attitude and swagger that has garnered the band an explosive following the success of 2020's single "Don't Need Your Advice" and follow up "Killing Time".

"I think the uncertainty of everything last year pushed us to really hit the ground loaded up when things broke back open here," says frontman Shaun Soho. "There's so much new material, we feel sort of like we can't contain ourselves and can't get it out fast enough for people to hear."  Regarding the new single he says, "I really like this one. It was something that, even the first time we played it - and it was during the whole 'distanced shows' thing we had to do - but people got out of their little areas or corrals or whatever they were marked off in and started going pretty wild. When you're trying a new song, that's cool to see a reaction like that."

Crash Midnight will support Steel Panther at House Of Blues Las Vegas on Saturday, July 3.

GLENN HUGHES Says He 'Loves' RITCHIE BLACKMORE But Admits Guitarist Was 'Difficult' To Work With

GLENN HUGHES Says He 'Loves' RITCHIE BLACKMORE But Admits Guitarist Was 'Difficult' To Work With

In a brand new interview with "In The Basement With Jesse Bruce", which airs on Grand Haven, Michigan's WMPA radio station, former DEEP PURPLE bassist/vocalist Glenn Hughes was asked what it was like working with Ritchie Blackmore, the legendary PURPLE guitarist who enjoys a reputation as being moody and egotistical.

"When I joined the band, the first weekend I joined the band, we flew to Hamburg together and had a boys weekend," Glenn said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). "We sat on a bar stool and had a lot of fun. Ritchie, behind the scenes, when I joined the band, was great. And I'm saying this smiling, but when we started working, when the band started kicking into gear, I didn't spend a lot of time with him, 'cause he had his own dressing room; he traveled alone; he was isolated. He was a little difficult. I'm smiling and chuckling. I love Ritchie. He's difficult. People are difficult to work with. The band on stage was firing on all cylinders. But off stage, it was a little strange, as we traveled separately."

Blackmore is a co-founder of DEEP PURPLE and wrote many of their most memorable riffs, including "Smoke On The Water", but he has not played with the group since his 1993 departure.

This past February, Hughes told "That Jamieson Show" that he "would not consider" taking part in a DEEP PURPLE reunion tour featuring him, David Coverdale and Ian Gillan all sharing the stage in celebration of the band's legacy. "I'm way past that now," he said. "It was such a long time ago. Let's just say that there are some unresolved problems from the past. And for me, the time I have left to do my work on this planet, I need to keep making new music and plowing on forward. Yes, I have done some shows in respect to DEEP PURPLE music, but as far as re-engaging with them chaps again in the live form, I can't see it happening."

Hughes went on to clarify that his issues with DEEP PURPLE have "nothing to do with David Coverdale. I love him," he explained. "I would work with David again if we get a chance, but anybody else, no."

Known as the "voice of rock," Hughes spent key years of his career as the beloved bassist and vocalist of DEEP PURPLE, appearing on the classic albums "Burn", "Stormbringer" and "Come Taste the Band". More recently, he played various hits and deep cuts from the DEEP PURPLE catalog, including "Burn", "Stormbringer", "Sail Away" and "Smoke On The Water", as part of his "Glenn Hughes Performs Classic Deep Purple Live" tour, which was launched in 2017.

In December, Hughes told Eonmusic that DEEP PURPLE's 2016 induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, where he was honored along with other former and current members of the band, "was a little difficult, because of, let's call it personality problems. It was David and I holding hands, and the other guys, unfortunately," he said. "We just don't get along with the other guys at all. So, we kept ourselves to ourselves — David and Glenn, with our wives — and it was great. David and I, what a great time. And we closed the show with CHEAP TRICK and Sheryl Crow, and our friends in CHICAGO.

"You know, it's a touchy subject," he continued. "It was not an easy night for us. If you look at the body language, it's pretty obvious. But again, David and I have been thick and thin for so long; I just dearly love him. Regarding DEEP PURPLE, I have no idea what they're doing, and I don't really care."

Hughes's comments came less than two months after David expressed his exasperation at PURPLE over how he and Glenn were treated by their former band ahead of the Rock Hall induction. The singer, who played with DEEP PURPLE along with Hughes from 1973 to 1976, said: "Glenn Hughes and I were told, 'Well, we don't want you singing with us.' Initially, I'd spoken to Ian [Gillan] about coming up and singing the backgrounds of 'Smoke On The Water', because originally they were going to close the show. So, that suddenly was pulled. They tried to stop us doing speeches, and my wife was fucking furious, apart from the fact she spent a fortune on posh dresses. [Laughs]"

DEEP PURPLE's first three lineups were inducted into the Rock Hall, including Blackmore, drummer Ian Paice, keyboardist Jon Lord, and various singers and bassists — Rod Evans, Gillan, Roger Glover, Coverdale and Hughes.

DEEP PURPLE's acceptance speeches included turns from Gillan, Glover, Paice, Coverdale and Hughes before the current lineup of DEEP PURPLE — Gillan, Glover, Paice, guitarist Steve Morse and keyboardist Don Airey — took the stage and played a short set consisting of "Highway Star", "Green Onions" (with an image of Lord behind them), "Hush" and "Smoke On The Water".

K.K. DOWNING 'Didn't Believe A Word' Of What He Wrote In His First JUDAS PRIEST Resignation Letter

K.K. DOWNING 'Didn't Believe A Word' Of What He Wrote In His First JUDAS PRIEST Resignation Letter

In a new interview with Yesterdaze News, K.K. Downing discussed his departure from JUDAS PRIEST as well as the circumstances that led to his decision to write an autobiography, "Heavy Duty: Days And Nights In Judas Priest". The guitarist said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I was totally frustrated from the get-go. Everything came to a head at the end of 2010, and I just had some kind of breakdown. I quit. I wasn't ready to do that farewell tour because I didn't think I would enjoy it because I had problems on the tour before because the band wasn't tight and I had issues with everything that was happening and I felt that we weren't the mighty PRIEST that we'd been before. And people travel a long way and make a lot of sacrifices to come to shows these days. It's not like the old days where we used to go to everybody's town... Things have changed.

"It was a set of circumstances," Downing, who formed PRIEST in the late 1960s with bassist Ian Hill, continued. "It's regretful. It was a very frustrating time for me, so I need to set the record straight as best as I can, really, because I was being made to look the bad guy. I mean, I can understand fans thinking certain things about me. 'K.K.'s retired to look after his golf course.' That's what you were being told. I've got a professional management company to look after my golf course, which had already been open for six years. The so-called retirement letter that I sent in, which was something I regretted, because I didn't believe a word. It was the second letter I sent in to the band, saying, 'Ignore everything in the first letter,' the so-called retirement letter. 'Ignore everything. Here's the reasons.' But they preferred to tell everybody the content of the first letter that I told them to ignore everything as misinformation, which it was."

Three years ago, the first resignation letter Downing sent to his bandmates was described as "a graceful exit note, implying a smooth retirement from music," while the second was "angrier, laying out all of his frustrations with specific parties."

Downing has said that he believes the second letter was "a key reason" he wasn't invited to rejoin PRIEST following Glenn Tipton's decision to retire from the road due to his battle with Parkinson's disease.

K.K. told Rock N Roll Archaeology that he initially wanted to "keep the peace" and "not burn any bridges" with his former bandmates, especially since he realized that he would be in a business relationship with them for the rest of his life.

Last year, Downing announced the formation of KK'S PRIEST, in which he is joined by ex-JUDAS PRIEST singer Tim "Ripper" Owens, guitarist A.J. Mills (HOSTILE), bassist Tony Newton (VOODOO SIX) and drummer Sean Elg (DEATHRIDERS, CAGE).

KK'S PRIEST's debut album, "Sermons Of The Sinner", will be released on August 20 via Explorer1 Music Group/EX1 Records. The LP's first single, "Hellfire Thunderbolt", came out last month. The title track followed in mid-June.

DAVID COVERDALE: 'I've Always Challenged Myself As A Singer'

DAVID COVERDALE: 'I've Always Challenged Myself As A Singer'

During an appearance on acclaimed guitarist Joe Bonamassa's hit interview series "Live From Nerdville", WHITESNAKE frontman David Coverdale spoke about his evolution as a vocalist. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I've always challenged myself as a singer. And, of course, those [early] songs become more challenging as you get older. Just like you — you don't wanna go over the same thing. You wanna fire up the Formula One and see where you go. Audience and band are an immense part of that that helps inspire and motivate you to express at your best and go to places that maybe you didn't go to before. Mine was trying to emulate, as a relatively young guy, before it was bastardized with cigarettes and alcohol, I had this pure British choir boy voice. And I was closer, when I sang with sheet music of a Spencer Davis record, to Steve Winwood — believe it or not — than my other heroes, which started with Joe Cocker, who was the first white singer in the U.K. as singing and sounding like an African-American guy. My God, it was like Ray Charles in a Sheffield persona. But to me, they were just miraculous, and still are. But I didn't know any of the technical stuff. Like, Howlin' Wolf's mic could not handle the power — the sheer power. He was a big man, so there'd be a distortion as well as all gritty. But there'd be that extra distortion that the mic added to the recording. And I would try to recreate that. And the only way I could do it was literally using my whole body, the whole diaphragm. It's a huge physical effort to pull up this big bastard of a voice that I've been blessed with."

Coverdale, who turned 69 last September, recently confirmed that he plans to retire from touring after the band's next batch of concerts around the world.

Although Coverdale will no longer perform with WHITESNAKE, he is still planning on writing and recording fresh material once he has retired from the road.

Early last year, WHITESNAKE was forced to cancel its U.S. tour with SAMMY HAGAR & THE CIRCLE and NIGHT RANGER so that Coverdale could undergo surgery for bilateral inguinal hernia. Eventually, all of the shows were canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Coverdale had both his knees replaced with titanium in 2017 after suffering from degenerative arthritis. He later explained that he was in so much pain with arthritis in his knees that it hampered his ability to perform live.

WHITESNAKE had been touring in support of its latest album, "Flesh & Blood", which was released in May 2019 via Frontiers Music Srl.

IRON MAIDEN's BRUCE DICKINSON Mocked For Complaining About Impact Of Brexit On Music Industry Despite Voting For It

IRON MAIDEN's BRUCE DICKINSON Mocked For Complaining About Impact Of Brexit On Music Industry Despite Voting For It

IRON MAIDEN frontman Bruce Dickinson has called on the U.K. government to get its act together to help artists tour the European Union post-Brexit.

As a result of the Brexit agreement, performing artists of all kinds must now have work permits to earn money from gigs in EU countries, and have a "carnet" that allows the transport of goods such as musical instruments across borders. Individual visas and work permits are required for different countries, and U.K. touring vehicles are limited to only three stops in Europe before having to return home. This amounts to extra costs roughly amounting to £5,000 per individual country.

During an appearance on Sky News on Monday (June 28), Dickinson told Kay Burley that Brexit is making it harder for British acts to do tours and concerts in Europe and that the government should be doing more to help.

The 62-year-old singer, who previously admitted he voted to leave the EU, said: "Don't get me started on the government's attitude to the entertainment industry. We are probably one of the U.K.'s major exports. I mean … come on. And yet we're sitting here, we can't do anything.

"It's very well known that I voted for Brexit," he continued. "But, you know, the idea is after you've done it, you then go in and be sensible about the relationship you have with people. So, at the moment, all this guff about not being able to play in Europe, and the Europeans not being able to play over here and work permits and all the rest of the rubbish — come on! You know, get your act together."

Back in 2018, Dickinson told the French news magazine L'Obs that he was "quite relaxed about the idea" of the United Kingdom separating from the European Union, explaining that he thought Brexit would make Britain "more flexible" and that "Brexit actually opens our borders, Brexit opens the United Kingdom to the whole of the world.

"Brexit will not change the status of the [country] by very much," except for "enhanc[ing] our economic capabilities," he added.

After Dickinson's latest comments were aired, people were quick to note his changed position. "This is what he voted for," one person wrote. "Don't get me started on prominent Brexiteers claiming otherwise."

"Own it Bruce, this is what you voted for," added another.

"Well, well, well, if it isn't the consequences of his own actions," tweeted a third person.

"Maybe you should have done some research, this is exactly what you voted for you idiot," said another.

Earlier this month, over 200 musicians and bands — including WOLF ALICE, Annie Lennox, Mark Knopfler, NEW ORDER and RADIOHEAD — urged the U.K. government to act now to mitigate the Brexit-related expenditure and red tape of touring on mainland Europe. The "Let The Music Move" campaign calls for a renegotiation on touring — or "new bilateral agreements with each country that will reduce the costs and red tape" — as well as a short-term "transitional support package” to financially assist artists with new paperwork.

The campaign's organizer, the Featured Artists' Coalition, said that, in 2019, U.K. artists played almost four times as many shows in the EU as they did in North America.

The campaign is asking for the government to cover new and additional costs of touring, deliver measures to overcome restrictions on transporting instruments and stage equipment, and a promise that EU artists will have reciprocal freedoms.

He supported it!

? Can I play with hindsight? The Brexiteer stared at his begging bowl... ?

So, when he supported leave, he was only expecting it to impact other people's lives, not his own?

This seems to be a common theme...

God preserve us. Sounds like he wants the UK and European countries to set up some kind of agreement, to allow free movement of people, good and services, almost as though we might make a Union of European countries, and create a Single Market within it.

The EU are simply honouring his vote.

Or is it that he didn't understand what he was voting for ??

Bruce is a hero to me but he voted for this when the industry he is a part of has been screaming out since 2016 that this would be a disaster. I'm gad he has understood now but it would be more beneficial if he explained that he got it wrong. Would love to get him on @mrjamesob

“It’s well known that I voted for #Brexit but the idea is that after you’ve done it, you go in and be sensible about the relationship..”

Sounds like Bruce Dickinson should now support the @LibDems’ policy for an increasingly close relationship culminating in membership again. ? https://t.co/mklcuRvXcy

Funny. Just saw him on SKY railing in disbelief at how things had turned out for bands, theatre tours etc trying to work in Europe.

Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson should have been better informed back in 2016

Dickinson suggested (in 2018) Europe would be “run a lot better” if musicians were in charge and added that he didn’t see Brexit’s predicted negative impact on touring bands as a realistic concern https://t.co/Xa8450RTEM

SCULPTURED Feat. Ex-AGALLOCH Members To Release The Liminal Phase Album In August; "The Ordeal Of Undecidability" Lyric Video Streaming

SCULPTURED Feat. Ex-AGALLOCH Members To Release The Liminal Phase Album In August; "The Ordeal Of Undecidability" Lyric Video Streaming

Today, Sculptured announce the release of the first single off their long-awaited forthcoming album, The Liminal Phase, scheduled for release on August 27 via BMG.

The first track and lyric video, "The Ordeal Of Undecidability", offers multiple textures atop a writhing bed of pulsating drums, deceptive drone-chugging guitar and a galloping chorus culminating in a breathtaking cello arrangement by acclaimed cellist and composer Jo Quail (Mono, My Dying Bride).

Stream the single here, and watch the lyric video below.

The 25-year history of Sculptured’s visionary approach to progressive heaviness is the story of guitarist/vocalist Don Anderson’s lifelong musical odyssey.

Formed in the mid ’90s during Anderson’s teen years, early Sculptured songs took their inspiration from the progressive and melodic nature of Chuck Schuldiner’s ever-evolving ideas, after Anderson heard Death’s 1991 record, Human. By 1996, Anderson was tracking his own compositions. Three recorded songs surfaced on that year’s Fulfillment in Tragedy demo tape, and some of that material also landed on Sculptured’s debut full-length album, The Spear Of The Lily Is Aureoled (1998). After being picked up for a CD and cassette run by Polish record label Mad Lion, The Spear of the Lily is Aureoled found a home in the U.S. with The End Records, the label that would become Sculptured’s long term partner. In the late ‘90s, Anderson began working with John Haughm and Jason Walton in Agalloch, and both Agalloch’s Pale Folklore and Sculptured’s sophomore record, Apollo Ends, benefitted from the trio’s collaboration. Apollo Ends also saw the return of Spear vocalist Brian Yager and trumpet player Burke Harris.

After these two albums, Sculptured had voice and purpose, but Agalloch’s more meditative style began to receive more attention from the metal community and Anderson gave less of his attention to Sculptured. It would be years before Anderson was ready to record his next fleshed out statement, the atonal and rather darker Embodiment. The record retained Walton on bass, and the band was now joined by vocalist Tom Walling, Estradasphere drummer Dave Murray and Winds/Age of Silence keyboardist Andy Winter. Their performances lend Embodiment a brand new air, both gutsier and stranger than earlier Sculptured records.

Since 2008, Sculptured has been largely silent, skulking in the deep shadows of Anderson’s other work in Agalloch and Khôrada. Now, more than a decade later, Sculptured returns in force with The Liminal Phase, which truly feels like a culmination of the experience that the current band have developed in their many years as working musicians. The songs’ complexity has become stealthier, with rhythmic and tonal elements blending into subtle gradations of color and concept. “The new one is incredibly melodic and accessible,” Anderson says. “It actually sounds like a record that might sit between [Spear and Apollo].” Anderson, along with bassist Jason Walton (Agalloch, Snares of Sixes) and keyboardist Andy Winter (Winds, Age of Silence) are joined by drummer Martti Hill (Barrowlands) and guitarist/vocalist Marius Sjøli (Fauna Timbre) to create music that fits neatly into the Sculptured tradition while somehow feeling more naturally cohesive, more comfortable in its own idiosyncratic skin.

Fast forward to 2021 and The Liminal Phase acts as a bold continuation of Anderson’s vision for Sculptured, as well as a reintroduction to the wonders the band has to offer to fans both old and new.

Active over the past five decades, Anthrax has released 11 studio albums, been awarded multiple Gold and Platinum certifications, received six Grammy nominations, toured the world since 1984 playing thousands of shows, including headlining Madison Square Garden and playing Yankee Stadium with The Big 4. The band has built a strong reputation with fans as well as the record industry. Each week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and wrapping on the band's official founding anniversary of July 18, Anthrax's social media accounts will offer a series of video testimonials sent in by former band members, fellow musicians, colleagues, and industry veterans sharing behind-the-scenes stories of working with the band and what Anthrax's legacy has meant all these years on. These videos will honor each album in chronological order beginning with the original release, Fistful of Metal. Go here for the full schedule, and watch Episode #19: Stomp 442 below.

The 11-week series will include video contributions from Chuck D, Corey Taylor, Dave Grohl, Dave Mustaine, Gary Holt, Gene Simmons, Henry Rollins, John Carpenter, Kerry King, Mike Patton, Nergal, Norman Reedus, Michael Poulsen, Rob Zombie, Robert Trujillo, Roger Miret, Darryl McDaniels (Run DMC), Slash, Tom Morello and more. All purchasing details are accessible at AnthraxLive.com.

The Global Livestream event, debuting July 16/17 (depending on your global location), will remain available to fans worldwide to tune in through July 25 at 11:59 PM, ET via video on demand. The band - Joey Belladonna/vocalist, Scott Ian/rhythm guitar, Frank Bello/bass, Charlie Benante/drums, and Jon Donias/guitar, will perform an extensive set of hits and deep cuts that will pull from the band's entire catalog.

"I was a 17-year-old metal-head kid from Queens when I started this band," said Scott Ian. "I am a 57-year-old metal-head kid from Queens about to celebrate the 40th anniversary of this band. That means for 40 years, I've gotten to do exactly what I've wanted to do - and getting to do what I love and being a part of something so much bigger than myself has made the time, the unbelievable weight of 40 seems so light. It's been an amazing story so far, and I see 40 as a milestone that absolutely should be recognized and celebrated. Congratulations to us! I also see 40 as a stepping stone to the next chapter of Anthrax - we still have a lot to say and some killer riffs to unleash. I'm not going to say, "Here's to 40 more" because nobody wants to see that (I'd be 97). How about, "Here's to at least ten more, and we'll go from there! Thank you for enabling me, my friends."

BUCKCHERRY's JOSH TODD Picks THE CULT's IAN ASTBURY As His 'Rock God'

BUCKCHERRY's JOSH TODD Picks THE CULT's IAN ASTBURY As His 'Rock God'

BUCKCHERRY singer Josh Todd was the featured guest on BBC's "The Rock Show With Johnnie Walker" during the "Rock God" segment. Todd picked THE CULT's Ian Astbury and stated about his choice: "I heard THE CULT back in high school for the first time in the '80s, of course, when the 'Electric' album came out. I thought it was amazing. I thought song to song, every song was good. And I thought Ian had a really unique voice; he had a really good texture to his voice. When I saw videos of him and I saw live performances of him, I thought he was the perfect rock and roll frontman. And that's what Ian was all about — he had a swagger, but he had this intensity as well. He could intimidate you and just put everything together onstage. I got to see them a few times and loved every minute of it. I think they influenced me to just be fearless and go out there and be true to yourself."

BUCKCHERRY's new album, "Hellbound", was released on June 25 via Round Hill Records. The follow-up to 2019's "Warpaint" was recorded last fall in Nashville, Tennessee with producer and songwriter-for-hire Marti Frederiksen, who has previously collaborated with AEROSMITH, DEF LEPPARD, Jonny Lang and Sheryl Crow, among many others.

Last summer, BUCKCHERRY recruited JETBOY's Billy Rowe as its new guitarist. He joined the group as the replacement for Kevin Roentgen, who left BUCKCHERRY in July 2020.

THE CULT has spent the last few months working on a new album. The follow-up to 2016's "Hidden City" is being helmed by producer Tom Dalgety, who has previously worked with GHOST and ROYAL BLOOD, among others.

"Hidden City" was released in February 2016 via Cooking Vinyl. The follow-up to 2012's "Choice Of Weapon" was written by Astbury and guitarist Billy Duffy and was produced by Bob Rock, who has previously worked with METALLICA and MÖTLEY CRÜE.

In May 2020, it was announced that THE CULT had inked a deal with Black Hill Records.

THE CULT spent most of 2019 touring in celebration of the 30th anniversary of its "Sonic Temple" album. The LP catapulted THE CULT into superstar status and remains their most commercially successful release. It has sold over 1.5 million copies in the U.S. alone and was certified platinum in 1990. It made it to No. 10 on the Billboard charts, and several of the album's songs remain rock-radio staples to this

STEVE LUKATHER: 'There's Not Gonna Be Another TOTO Record'

STEVE LUKATHER: 'There's Not Gonna Be Another TOTO Record'

In a new interview with Jeff Gaudiosi of MisplacedStraws.com, TOTO guitarist Steve Lukather has confirmed that there are no plans for the band to record new music. "There's not gonna be another TOTO record," he said. "What we do is we continue doing what we do. Joe [singer Joseph Williams] and I can make [solo] records and have some of the cats on it. And we can go out and play as TOTO. And if we get the audience, we pay off the people that sued us, and we go forward."

Lukather, who still performs with a new version of TOTO along with Williams, continued: "I'm gonna dig in. I don't roll over easily. I've taken a lot of punches over the last 45-plus years — whatever the hell it is; it's a long time. So I can take a punch, man, and I've taken a whole lot of 'em on falsities. But that's okay. It's behind me now. I let it all go. Peace and love to everybody. I don't carry around any hate. I'm, like, 'Okay, life changes. I'm sorry.' It broke my heart too. But it's like getting over a divorce — you've gotta get back on the horse again and do it. And that's what we plan on doing. There's no malicious vibe or, 'I'm gonna get even with anybody.' It's just such a waste of time. I'm 63 years old, man. I don't wanna play the games anymore."

Back in 2019, TOTO released a limited-edition box set boasting 17 LPs and 13 CDs. The set included an album titled "Old Is New", featuring seven previously unreleased songs.

TOTO has just released "With A Little Help From My Friends", a recording of a special November 21, 2020 concert when Lukather, Williams and David Paich appeared with the new lineup of TOTO for a global event originating from Los Angeles. They were joined by bassist John Pierce, drummer Robert "Sput" Searight, keyboardist/background vocalist Steve Maggiora, keyboardist Dominique "Xavier" Taplin and multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Warren Ham. This lineup marks the fifteenth incarnation of TOTO in consideration of band members or sidemen who joined or exited. In the DVD and Blu-ray versions of the set, a documentary is featured alongside the performance, which includes commentary from all members of the band that appeared that evening.

On February 26, Lukather and Williams presented separate solo albums via The Players Club / Mascot Label Group which charted in multiple territories across the globe. Both artists made significant contributions to the other's recordings. Additionally, Paich performed on select tracks on Lukather's "I Found The Sun Again" and Williams's "Denizen Tenant". The titles were released on LP and CD, and a limited-edition deluxe edition is available with the two titles bundled toget

TIM 'RIPPER' OWENS Says Pandemic 'Changed Everything About Everything'

TIM 'RIPPER' OWENS Says Pandemic 'Changed Everything About Everything'

Former JUDAS PRIEST singer Tim "Ripper" Owens, who is promoting the upcoming debut album from KK'S PRIEST, told Jason Saulnier in a new interview that the coronavirus pandemic affected his ability to earn a living in a major way. "It changed a lot of things," he said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). "I'm a musician — that's all I do for a living. Now, in a normal time, if music would dry up or something could happen and you can't do it, you might have to go get a job doing something else. Well, there wasn't any of those jobs either. It's funny when, all of a sudden, you make your money touring, and it's done.

"I had a really busy year planned, and it was starting with finishing my vocals with the KK'S PRIEST record and thinking, 'This is gonna be an amazing summer. We're gonna get on some festivals and we're gonna get this record out and start touring,'" he continued. "And then you can't even finish the record. Everybody thinks we finished it because vocals were done and things like that. But it's hard when you can't get together at all. You can't do everything via green screens. If you're an established band and you put a record out, you can do that 'cause you're an established band. But when you're a brand new band, you just can't put something out. So it really changed everything about everything.

"I, luckily, sat in my studio and did a lot of studio work for a lot of different musicians all throughout the world," Owens added. "You have to adapt and find new ways to do things. So I did the newest THREE TREMORS record as well. I sang vocals on a band, which I'm still working on, called PYRAMID. Just all kinds of stuff, and just individual songs for musicians everywhere. So I got lucky that I could do that. But, yeah, it's totally changed everything. But at least now things are starting to look better. The mask mandates just went away here in Ohio, so it's really getting a little bit easier. So, hopefully, we'll be able to hit the road."

Owens joined PRIEST in 1996 and recorded two studio albums with the band — 1997's "Jugulator" and 2001's "Demolition" — before PRIEST reunited with Rob Halford in 2003.

Owens and founding PRIEST guitarist K.K. Downing are reunited in KK'S PRIEST which also features guitarist A.J. Mills (HOSTILE), bassist Tony Newton (VOODOO SIX) and drummer Sean Elg (DEATHRIDERS, CAGE).

KK'S PRIEST will release its debut album, "Sermons Of The Sinner", on August 20 via Explorer1 Music Group/EX1 Records.

DANGEROUS TOYS Singer JASON MCMASTER: Why I Turned Down PANTERA Audition

DANGEROUS TOYS Singer JASON MCMASTER: Why I Turned Down PANTERA Audition

In a new interview with Waste Some Time with Jason Green, DANGEROUS TOYS frontman Jason McMaster once again spoke about the time he was approached by PANTERA about possibly singing for the group before Philip Anselmo connected with the fellow Texas metal act.

"I like talking about this, only because it clears up some things," Jason said in part (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). I was offered an audition. I never auditioned. I didn't accept the offer to audition.

"[PANTERA guitarist 'Dimebag' Darrell Abbott and drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott's] father called me first, which was interesting, that someone who could have been my dad is calling me, 'Hey, I'm Mister… And I'm looking…', kind of management style, and I'm just a dude, and I'm going, 'Woah, this is trippy.' And I turned him down. And then Vinnie calls me, like, two weeks later, and the same kind of a thing happened.

"But we — as in my scene in Austin — we had heard about people talking, 'Man, I saw this band PANTERA, and they played this, and they played METALLICA,'" he continued. "But they were saying they would play DEF LEPPARD — they would play the popular hard rock and heavy metal songs. It didn't matter if it was this new thing called thrash or whatever. I don't think that they were covering DESTRUCTION or SODOM or CELTIC FROST or VENOM, like me and my friends kind of wanted to, but they were [playing] the popular stuff. They were doing club circuits. They were wearing pink and purple and green and yellow on stage. They had big hair. And so it was kind of, like, the whole, 'Well, do you call them posers?' Well, you're not a poser if you believe what you do. And they were good. And everyone said how good they were. Darrell was always a guitar legend in Texas. The guy probably never had any lessons and he just learned from slowing down VAN HALEN songs. [He was] an incredible talent, and everyone knew it, even though there was never a citing of any of that, because in my circle, it was a little more hardcore.

"So, '86 comes around. WATCHTOWER's first record is out, 'Energetic Disassembly'. It's getting attention globally — still on an underground level, of course… We helped… I know it's a big crown to wear for me to say this, but I will insert the word 'arguably' WATCHTOWER, and if not myself, had a giant hand in kickstarting the thrash, the metal thing in Austin, Texas in '82.

"So, yes, the PANTERA camp calls me. [WATCHTOWER] was losing [guitarist] Billy White [at the time]. He was ready to jump ship from WATCHTOWER and start playing different styles of music and just rock guitar… So the last two shows we played with Billy White were the only two shows that WATCHTOWER ever played out of the state of Texas, and they were in the Bay Area in the first of October of 1986. I believe it was right before that that the PANTERA camp had called me to see where my head was.

"Years and years later — I think it was '95 — I'm standing behind the backline with Darrell and some of his party boys. It was PANTERA, of course, with TYPE O NEGATIVE in San Antonio, at Sunken Gardens… And I had a chance to just basically get right in Darrell's head and go, 'Dude, why me? 'Cause you hooked up with Philip, and this is working. This is some brutal, really awesome, I'll just call it rock music. This is exactly where you guys needed to be.' And he's, like, 'Man, Jason, you just had a good buzz. Everyone that we knew in the Dallas/Fort Worth area' — I'm paraphrasing — 'knew your name and was a fan of WATCHTOWER. And you were on a list. That's it.' It was a simple answer, and I was, like, 'Oh, okay. Well, that makes sense.' I realized how big of an honor it was by the time they blew up. And I was, like, 'Wow. These guys are cool.'"

According to McMaster, he had no idea at the time he was approached to audition for PANTERA that they would one day turn out to be such an influential metal act.

"I'll put my hands on the table and show you all my cards and everything by saying the riffs from 'Cowboys From Hell', who knows if they were even written at that point?" Jason said. "Who knew that they were going into this completely hardcore and/or arguably creating their own style of 'groove' metal. I don't really like the term, but it became a thing. As well as that they could thrash too. Who knew? 'Cause I didn't. I just thought they were this kind of glam rock band that did the cover band circuit, and that's all I knew about 'em… But I was really kind of blinded by my own worries with WATCHTOWER."

Founded in 1987, DANGEROUS TOYS released four full-length albums and one live album before unofficially disbanding at the turn of the millennium.

Although DANGEROUS TOYS continues to perform live, the band has not released any new material since 1995.
