In the summer of 2020, System Divide returns with a recharged and revamped lineup. The new roster includes founding members Miri Milman on vocals, Cole Martinez on guitar, Michael Wilson (ex-Aborted / Abigail Williams) on lead guitar, and also welcomes Gavin Parsons (ex-Whitechapel touring drummer) on drums.

Introducing their brand new single "Rise Again", System Divide ascends from the ashes with a stunning return to form! The song features Mark Jansen (Epica) on guest vocals and Alon Tamir (Tewl) on guest lead guitar. A few months ago, with the COVID-19 cancellation of the long running underground festival, Keep It True, as a "thank you" to the loyal fanbase, organizers posted three days worth of vintage material (interviews & performances) from the event's history. It was such a success, that last weekend, they added four more hours of material.

In what was hinted to be just the first of an ongoing series, this program focuses on the initial five years, with apparently more to follow. In addition to truly cult acts like Deadly Blessing, Hallows Eve, Overlorde and Brocas Helm (amongst many others), there are also premieres of new videos from the forthcoming albums by KIT alumni, Hittman and Glacier.

German blackened death metal one-man project, Bloodred, has signed with Massacre Records, and will release the new album, The Raven's Shadow, on September 25.

Bloodred was founded in 2009 by mastermind Ron Merz, who is responsible for the songwriting and also acts as the vocalist, guitarist as well as bassist since the band's formation. He's supported by session/studio musician Joris Nijenhuis on drums.

The first EP, entitled The Lost Ones, was released in 2014, followed by the debut album Nemesis in 2016.

For the second Bloodred album, The Raven's Shadow, Ron Merz once again teamed up with renowned producer Alexander Krull, who made sure that the songs sound as heavy as possible. Photographic artist Stefan Heilemann once more captured the very essence of the music and lyrics and created a timeless and impressive artwork.

The upcoming album will soon be available for pre-order, and is going to be available as CD Digipak as well as in digital formats.

Ozzy Osbourne's official online store has been updated with "Ozzy For President" merchandise, including t-shirts, hoodies, lithographs, bumper stickers and buttons.

For $60, fans can get a hoodie, a 13" x 19" lithograph, a bumper sticker and a button.

The new range of merchandise was announced via Ozzy's social media in a campaign-style video featuring some of his most popular quotes, including, "Out of everything I've lost, I miss my mind the most!" and "It could be worse… I could be Sting."

The "Ozzy For President" hoodie bundle will ship in late July.

The original "Ozzy For President" t-shirt, featuring the same design, first arrived in 1984.

Back in June 2019, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne called out President Donald Trump for using the musician's music without permission.

"We are sending notice to the Trump campaign (or any other campaigns) that they are forbidden from using any of Ozzy Osbourne's music in political ads or in any political campaigns," Sharon said in a statement. "Ozzy's music cannot be used for any means without approvals."

Despite appearing on Trump's now-defunct "Celebrity Apprentice" in 2010, Sharon has been vocal about her disapproval of the billionaire real estate mogul.

"It's kind of fearful," she told Larry King in 2018. "I know a lot of my friends are fearful. We kind of wake up every day and go, 'What's gonna happen now?' You don't feel secure that everything will be smooth and people are in control of what they should be in control of. … For me, I wake up afraid of what on Earth is going to happen and who he's going to insult today."

Original KISS drummer Peter Criss has released a video of him singing the song "Don't You Let Me Down" from his 1978 self-titled solo record.

Criss uploaded the video to Vimeo, writing in an accompanying message: "My friend and a longtime fan Mark stopped by my house to help me out with a few things and while he was here. He asked if I would sing for him one of his favorite songs from my 1978 solo record ('Don't You Let Me Down'). So here I am singing live along with my solo record. He wanted to share his exciting moment with all of you other fans and asked if I could post it on my site for you to see. He was so excited he was shaking. Hope you all enjoy it as well. We did. It was fun!!!"

"Don't You Let Me Down" was originally written in 1971 for Criss's pre-KISS band LIPS.

"Peter Criss" was one of four solo albums released by the members of KISS on September 18, 1978. The LP was produced by Vini Poncia, who went on to helm the KISS albums "Dynasty" (1979) and "Unmasked" (1980).

Criss first left KISS in 1980. Since then he's worked with other bands and released solo albums. He teamed up with KISS again for a reunion tour in the 1990s and most recently in 2004. He was replaced by Eric Singer.

The four original members of KISS were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in April 2014 by RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE guitarist Tom Morello.

KISS did not perform — the Hall Of Fame wanted the original quartet only to play, while Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley insisted on the current lineup — which also includes guitarist Tommy Thayer — performing as well. In the end nobody won that battle.

Criss, who was known as "Catman," released his last solo CD, titled "One for All", in 2007. Peter produced the album himself for the first time, and was joined by guest musicians that included keyboardist Paul Shaffer and bassist Will Lee of "Late Night with David Letterman". The album featured a range of styles, from rock and jazz to blues and Broadway, and included covers of "What a Difference a Day Makes" and "Send in the Clowns".

Acclaimed keyboardist Derek Sherinian (SONS OF APOLLO, BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION, ex-DREAM THEATER), one of the most significant keyboard players of the modern era, has signed to InsideOut Music for the release of his new solo album, "The Phoenix". His first solo LP since 2011's "Oceana" is due on September 18.

Once again, Sherinian has teamed up with drummer extraordinaire Simon Phillips, who not only plays drums but also co-produced and co-wrote the album.

"It is always an amazing experience to be able to work with Simon," Derek says. "He's been a hero of mine for ages, ever since I heard him playing on albums with Jeff Beck and Michael Schenker. And he is such an invaluable part of the way this new record has come out.

"I truly feel that this is my best solo record to date," he adds. "Simon and I put a lot of energy into the writing, and I am grateful to all of the great players that contributed to this recording."

There are a number of guests featured on "The Phoenix", as has been the case in the past for Sherinian, on both guitar and bass. Some have become regular contributors to his solo sessions, people such as bassists Tony Franklin ("He's been on all my albums to date"), Jimmy Johnson and Billy Sheehan (Sherinian's bandmate in SONS OF APOLLO), plus guitarists Joe Bonamassa and Zakk Wylde. In addition, others are welcomed into the fold for the first time. For instance, there's master guitarist Steve Vai.

"Steve Vai has always been on my hit list," Derek says. "But it was when I played keyboards on the 'Generation Axe' tour of Asia in 2017 that I asked him to play on my record, which he gladly accepted."

Also present are Derek's SONS OF APOLLO bandmate Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal (ex-GUNS N' ROSES) and Kiko Loureiro (MEGADETH).

"Kiko and I have known one another for about 20 years," Derek says. "But this is the first time I've had the opportunity to play with him."

"The Phoenix" features eight tracks, including a cover of Buddy Miles's "Them Changes", and will be released as a limited-edition digipak CD, 180g LP + CD and as a digital album.

Venom formed in 1979 in Newcastle Upon Tyne. Venom's second album proved influential enough that its title was used as the name of the extreme metal sub-genre of black metal. The band classic lineup trio of Cronos, Mantas and Abaddon recorded two further studio albums, At War With Satan (1984) and Possessed (1985), and live album Eine Kleine Nachtmusik (1986). Often cited by bands such as Metallica, Behemoth, Celtic Frost and Mayhem as major influences, they are one of the most revered bands of their generation.  Venom are still fronted by original singer/bassist Cronos and headline festivals all over the globe and continue to release new music.

Originally issued within the mammoth In Nomine Satanas deluxe vinyl boxset last year, Sons Of Satan - a collection of the bands early demo material from the period 1979 to 1983 - now gets its own stand-alone release this coming August 28 via BMG, on double-album splatter vinyl, digipak CD and digitally.

Featuring a treasure trove of demos from the band’s vaults, some of which prior to the boxset’s release, achieved mythical status among fans who have known about their existence, but have never heard them as the tracks alluded bootleggers. Among the tracks are the earliest known Venom performances, captured where the band rehearsed in 1979 at Westgate Road Church Hall in Newcastle’s West End and featuring original singer Clive ‘Jesus Christ’ Archer on vocals. Also included are the £50 demos from 1980, captured at Impulse Studios, alongside further demos from 1980 and the At War With Satan 1983 Impulse Studio demos.

The set includes new sleeve notes and interviews with Cronos, Mantas and Abaddon, plus rare and unseen photos from the band’s early years.

Nightwish vocalist Floor Jansen has launched a new online series called Floor Finds, featuring conversation with a guest that does not necessarily center on music. Check out the first episode below.

Floor: "We kick off Floor Finds with our own Marko Hietala! We are no experts but we are intrigued by the possibility of life somewhere else in the universe."

During a conversation with Ultimate Guitar's Justin Beckner, Nightwish bassist Marco Hietala talked about the addition of singer Floor Jansen to the band, who joined the fold in 2013, while also touching on the ongoing lockdown, the band's former singer Anette Olzen, and more. Following is an excerpt from the interview.

UG: What made Floor the right choice as a singer for Nightwish?

Marco: "Well, in hindsight, I would say that we were able to get the best personal chemistry between the band and the vocalist. Now we can talk about that because it's the personal chemistry of a band. With Floor, the question was always that she was a fan of this hard music. She was always a fan of it. She wanted to be in bands and started doing it and got her feet under her in the process. So in that way, it's easier for her, therefore it's easier for all of us.

Vocally, all of the vocalists have been brilliant. But then there is this thing about who is best suited for this life on the road. The guys in the band, we're pretty much road horses. I mean, I am really hooked on doing shows - I really like to be an entertainer and I like to make music with the people that I like and when you get the big bubble going where you, your friends, and the audience are all going crazy with that same [energy], it's just brilliant. That's my life's biggest drug, so I'm happy to go on the road."

UG: We miss having you out on the road. Has there been any discussion about when and how you might be able to get back out there?

Marco: "All the festivals toppled over one by one like dominos and now they are pretty much closing the whole summer already. So we still have hope that there might be a medical breakthrough that could allow us to still do the European tour in November and December. But I cannot really be for sure about that either. The only thing I know from my personal experience is that when it happens, I will be ready to raise some goddamn serious hell."

KK's Priest / ex-Judas Priest vocalist Tim "Ripper" Owens recently answered a couple questions for YouTube user Vince Palamara via Cameo. In the clip below, Owens talks about working with guitar legend Yngwie Malmsteen and comments on his good fortune to be involved in so many different projects over the course of his career.

K.K Downing, founding member of Judas Priest, recently announced the name of his new band, KK’s Priest. This all new band features some very familiar faces. With Downing on guitar, KK’s Priest features ex-Judas Priest members Tim “Ripper” Owens on vocals, who fronted the band for eight years and recorded two studio albums, Jugulator, featuring the Grammy-nominted track “Bullet Train”, and Demolition, plus two live albums, and Les Binks who was the drummer on the studio albums Stained Class and Killing Machine and the live album Unleashed In The East. They are joined by Tony Newton (Voodoo Six) on bass, and A.J. Mills (Hostile) on guitar. With the lineup complete, KK’s Priest is hard at work in the studio creating the band’s debut album which will be released globally by Explorer1 Music Group as a part of the partnership with K.K Downing signed early 2020. More details to come.

On March 11th, Owens guested on SiriusXM's Trunk Nation and commented on the forthcoming album, saying "I got my vocals done. It sounds unbelievable; it's gonna be a really great record. Obviously, we can't talk too much about it right now, but it's really good. We have a really good time. I'm excited. The vocals came out great. It's a lot of high stuff, a lot of aggressive stuff, and a lot of classic-sounding metal. We're not shooting for mediocrity; we're shooting for the top. The biggest thing was getting this record done."

KK’s Priest is represented exclusively by Andy Gould for Explorer1, with Jim Morewood handling the band’s global bookings outside the US for the K2 Agency. Extensive touring and festival dates are already being planned with KK’s Priest taking to stages around the world to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Judas Priest and K.K Downing’s career as a founding member. The band will deliver everything that fans would expect of Downing and his ability to deliver up everything that is Priest including newly written metal masterpieces.

Back in February, Canada’s Anvil released a new album, Legal At Last, celebrating the legalization of recreational cannabis use in the country. To support this album, the heavy metallers had a very thorough tour planned in the UK and Germany, with an assortment of other stops along the way. Unfortunately, like everyone else, COVID-19 stopped the tour in its tracks.

Cathartic black metal outfit Gaerea has shared the third and final single from their upcoming album, Limbo. The new song, "Conspiranoia," can be found along with an accompanying music video below.

Rob "The Witch" Tremblay of Canadian blackened death metal masters Necronomicon has shared a guitar playthrough for the song "Vox Draconis." The track is taken from 2019's critically acclaimed UNUS.

Unus is a searing cacophony that blends blistering riffs, machine-like drums, and a symphonic ambience, culminating in a sound that calls to various metal icons such as Dimmu Borgir, Septicflesh, Behemoth, and Deicide. The record combines the furious elements of death metal with the symphonic prowess of black metal, creating the perfect synthesis of both genres.

Argentina/Sweden's Tersivel, a pagan metal band based in Malmö, will release its brand new single, the successor to the single "Satyrs Wine Part II" (2018) and the album Worship Of The Gods (2017).

The new single is titled "Embers Beneath The Spirit"; it will be released independently on July 17. Preorder/presave the single here .

Tersivel is a band of altering genres, perhaps centered around vivid soundscapes, where death/doom and post-metal converge. Paganism and heathenry, along with philosophical themes, are the lyrical spine providing support to the emotions of their music.

Tersivel commented on the new single: "We’ve put our substance into the creation of this new song. Its conception has been intense, not only for the less traveled road to exploration we've been taking the last couple of years, but also for getting punched in the face by reality itself. The amount of music out there is, to put it politely, overwhelming, and often it feels like there's more music than listeners. However, the urge to connect with ourselves seems to be satisfied only by being ‘happy’ or by making serious art, pursuing the former is a waste of life, doing the latter properly is impossible, but at least, there's honesty there.

“Once 'Embers Beneath The Spirit' was ready, we struggled a lot about releasing it or not. Stillness came, and then, nothing. Where did the pleasure of creation go? - We asked ourselves without saying a word. Probably nobody will ever know. The only thing we hope for is that this song will bring you some comfort, whenever and wherever you are. Thanks for listening. Lian, Franco and Danny."

Hard rock band, The Lonely Ones, have premiered their reimagined version of Queen's song, "Flash". Even though it was originally recorded in 2019, the band decided that this was the opportune time to release their heroic cover inspired by one of the most relevant rock bands from past and present times.

"We recorded 'Flash' in 2019 - a pretty dark year for the four of us on all fronts. Our original musical output reflected that darkness so recording a cartoonishly triumphant, heroic cover song seemed like a good counter-balance. Fast forward to spring 2020 and the impending COVID-19 Stay At Home order. With limited time and help from some fans we got our friends together to film a music video while we were still able. It's July now and, with the future more unclear than ever, it seems like the perfect time to release the most positive song we have. I hope you enjoy it. 'Flash/The Hero'. A Queen cover," says the band.

Formed in the summer of 2019, The Lonely Ones are a four piece vocal-oriented hard rock band with an ear for melody and a taste for success. Society 1 have released a futuristic, sci-fi-inspired video for “Bleed You Away”, from their upcoming sixth album, Black Level Six. Watch the clip below.

As the head of his own production company, Lord Zane Productions, Society 1 vocalist Lord Zane has directed and produced videos for numerous artists, including Zakk Wylde, DMC (Run DMC), Static-X, John 5 and many more, but directing the video for “Bleed You Away” was a massive undertaking.

“This was one hell of a video project to put together but my production company, Lord Zane Productions, did one hell of a job,” Zane says. “I love sci-fi and always wanted to do some type of futuristic space theme. Luckily when you have your own video company you can do crazy projects like this. The track has some electronic elements, so it seemed like a good fit to finally explore my love of spaceships, holograms and lasers. I know it seems weird, but I just didn't want to do another video of a band in a warehouse or desert banging their heads.”

“Bleed You Away” can also be streamed now via Spotify.

Austin, Texas-based melodic death-doom metal unit, Hinayana, have been turning heads in the metal scene since their formation in 2014, starting out as a one-man band spearheaded by frontman Casey Hurd. Now, after releasing their crushing 2018 full-length Order Divine and subsequently securing the attention of Napalm Records, Hinayana are poised to release their next musical offering - the crushing Death Of The Cosmic EP - set for release on August 28.

Today, Hinayana are introducing their new and improved sound to the world via the charging, melancholy crusher “Cold Conception”, featuring trailblazing late Tengger Cavalry frontman and multi-instrumentalist Nature Ganganbaigal on Morin Khuur (horsehead fiddle). These expansive contributions melded with earth-shattering vocals, unrelenting mix-paced drums and searing guitar leads make “Cold Conception” and its grim, expansive official music video a must-listen/see.

Vocalist/guitarist Casey Hurd states about the track: “While writing 'Cold Conception', I wanted to create something more energetic than the other tracks on the EP while keeping the mid-paced, brooding/rhythmic sound that I enjoy writing the most. The song is about the aimless, cold, modern world man has created and somehow wandered into at the same time, and the accelerating journey to reach a point of no return where many civilizations have collapsed in the past. Otherworldly and haunting while maintaining a crushing, colossal heaviness and peppered with undeniable groove, the Death Of The Cosmic EP emphasizes improved production and keen songwriting. Primarily self-produced by the band with mixing/drum recording from Kevin Butler and mastering by Swallow The Sun’s Juho Raiha, fans will also notice the new EP’s heightened concept in comparison to the band’s previous releases.

Opening title track “Death Of The Cosmic” sets off with optimistic ambience, quickly blasting into an ethereal universe of blazing leads and acoustic soundscapes capped by vocalist Casey Hurd’s deep, menacing growls. “Cold Conception” rushes in with melancholic energy before transforming into a dark, galloping anthem accented by the Morin Khuur stylings of late Tengger Cavalry mastermind Nature Ganganbaigal and a melting solo from Erik Shtaygrud. Rosa Laricchiuta is a singer, songwriter, and performer from Montreal, Quebec. After several years cutting her teeth with live shows, she auditioned for the third season (2015) of La Voix, Quebec's version of the popular TV show The Voice. Rosa had an instant connection with the legendary francophone rocker Éric Lapointe and chose him as her coach. Rosa showed a solid stage presence, with remarkable intensity and a voice so powerful it sent her straight to the Grand Finale where she shared the stage with Def Leppard, Kelly Clarkson, Jean Leloup, and her idol, Melissa Etheridge. She left a lasting impression as she won over millions of viewers who named her the new "it" female rocker of Quebec.

She then released one album in the Quebec market before beginning work on her first English language album in 2016. That album, Free, was released the following year and at the end of the year, she joined the popular American band Trans-Siberian Orchestra for their annual mega tour of the United States. Rosa was then brought to the attention of Frontiers by none other than fellow Trans-Siberian Orchestra bandmates and now label mates, Dino Jelusick (Animal Drive) and Jeff Scott Soto - who also makes a guest vocal appearance on the album.

Britain’s globally renowned arts, culture and heritage industries will receive a world-leading £1.57 billion rescue package to help weather the impact of coronavirus, the government announced today.

Thousands of organizations across a range of sectors including the performing arts and theatres, heritage, historic palaces, museums, galleries, live music and independent cinema will be able to access emergency grants and loans.

The money, which represents the biggest ever one-off investment in UK culture, will provide a lifeline to vital cultural and heritage organizations across the country hit hard by the pandemic. It will help them stay afloat while their doors are closed. Funding to restart paused projects will also help support employment, including freelancers working in these sectors.

Many of Britain’s cultural and heritage institutions have already received unprecedented financial assistance to see them through the pandemic including loans, business rate holidays and participation in the coronavirus job retention scheme. More than 350,000 people in the recreation and leisure sector have been furloughed since the pandemic began.

This new package will be available across the country and ensure the future of these multi billion-pound industries are secured.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson said: "From iconic theatre and musicals, mesmerising exhibitions at our world-class galleries to gigs performed in local basement venues, the UK’s cultural industry is the beating heart of this country. This money will help safeguard the sector for future generations, ensuring arts groups and venues across the UK can stay afloat and support their staff whilst their doors remain closed and curtains remain down."

Oliver Dowden Culture Secretary said: "Our arts and culture are the soul of our nation. They make our country great and are the lynchpin of our world-beating and fast growing creative industries. I understand the grave challenges the arts face and we must protect and preserve all we can for future generations. Today we are announcing a huge support package of immediate funding to tackle the funding crisis they face. I said we would not let the arts down, and this massive investment shows our level of commitment."

Rishi Sunak, Chancellor of the Exchequer said: "Our world-renowned galleries, museums, heritage sites, music venues and independent cinemas are not only critical to keeping our economy thriving, employing more than 700,000 people, they’re the lifeblood of British culture. That’s why we’re giving them the vital cash they need to safeguard their survival, helping to protect jobs and ensuring that they can continue to provide the sights and sounds that Britain is famous for."

The package announced today includes funding for national cultural institutions in England and investment in cultural and heritage sites to restart construction work paused as a result of the pandemic. This will be a big step forward to help rebuild our cultural infrastructure. This unprecedented package includes:

- £1.15 billion support pot for cultural organisations in England delivered through a mix of grants and loans. This will be made up of £270 million of repayable finance and £880 million grants.
- £100 million of targeted support for the national cultural institutions in England and the English Heritage Trust.
- £120 million capital investment to restart construction on cultural infrastructure and for heritage construction projects in England which was paused due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The new funding will also mean an extra £188 million for the devolved administrations in Northern Ireland (£33 million), Scotland (£97 million) and Wales (£59 million).

Decisions on awards will be made working alongside expert independent figures from the sector including the Arts Council England and other specialist bodies such as Historic England, National Lottery Heritage Fund and the British Film Institute.

Repayable finance will be issued on generous terms tailored for cultural institutions to ensure they are affordable. Further details will be set out when the scheme opens for applications in the coming weeks.

SEETHER bassist Dale Stewart has spoken out against "cancel culture," saying it comes from "a mean and dark place" while "masquerading as tolerance and acceptance."

Cancel culture is the idea that someone, usually a celebrity or a public figure, whose ideas or comments are considered offensive should be boycotted. These people are ostracized and shunned by former friends, followers and supporters alike, leading to declines in any careers and fanbase the individual may have at any given time.

Speaking to Tucson, Arizona's Rock 102.1 KFMA radio station, Stewart said (see video below): "This whole cancel culture, it comes from such a mean, dark place, yet it's masquerading as tolerance and acceptance of different cultures and points of view, or whatever the case may. It's under this guise of tolerance and acceptance, but it's this really, really dark cultural thing going on right now. It's crazy.

"It happens on both sides, I'd say. It's, like, 'Oh, it's all about acceptance,' but it's more like accepting our side," he continued. "Acceptance and tolerance, if you agree. If you don't, we will destroy you and cancel you, and that will be the end of it. There's no tolerance at all, actually. It's kind of a funny thing. Everything's so polarized."

According to Stewart, cancel culture often thrives in online forums and aims to hold people to account publicly.

"A lot of people live their lives online," he said. "That's their place to come out and get behind the keyboard. [It makes them feel] powerful because they have the anonymity to it — they can say anything and not face any kind of real-world ramifications. In the real world, if you talk crap about someone, you might get punched in the head, and that's a good thing — it keeps you in check. You don't know who you're dealing with. It's so easy for people to just be mean and bully people.

"I think it largely is the loudest voices, whether it's online or Twitter or whatever, I think the loudest voices are the extremes on both ends," he added. "I think most people [are like] myself — I'm just kind of in the middle. Like, 'Hey, what's going on? Everyone's kind of losing their mind.' And I'd like to think that the average American, or just the average person — 'cause there's cultural things going on in Australia, U.K., all over — I think the average person is just somewhat normal, somewhat kind of in the middle and wants the best for everyone. But you get these fringes, and their voices get amplified, unfortunately. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. So it's easy to think, 'Oh, everyone's gone crazy.' But I think it's a minority that's gone crazy. They speak so loudly, it's all you hear."

SEETHER's eighth album, "Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum", will be released on August 28 via Fantasy Records. The disc's first single, "Dangerous", arrived last month.

Stewart and guitarist/vocalist Shaun Morgan formed SEETHER in South Africa in 1999 under the name SARON GAS. The band released its first album, "Fragile", in 2000, and eventually caught the attention of American record label Wind-Up Records.

SEETHER has undergone several lineup changes over the years, with Morgan and Stewart remaining constant.

SYSTEM OF A DOWN drummer John Dolmayan says that the "Black Lives Matter" movement "never had legitimacy" and was "always a Democratic party fundraiser and propaganda tool."

The "Black Lives Matter" movement was launched in the summer of 2013 by black organizers Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors and Opal Tometi after George Zimmerman was acquitted of the killing of Trayvon Martin. Following George Floyd's death in Minneapolis, the movement has gained even more attention.

On Monday (July 6), Dolmayan shared a photo of eight-year-old Secoriea Turner, who was fatally shot Saturday in Atlanta not far from a Wendy’s restaurant that has become the site of protests after an Atlanta police officer shot and killed Rayshard Brooks, a black man, there on June 12. Secoriea was killed after what police described as a confrontation between her mother, a friend and a group of armed suspects blocking their way. Since Brooks's death, protesters have occupied the area, at times not allowing people in.

The SYSTEM OF A DOWN drummer wrote in an accompanying message: "The supposed black lives matter movement never had legitimacy in my view and were always a Democratic Party fundraiser and propaganda tool . Along with antifa they have shown themselves to be the enemy of the people of the United States and have adopted lawlessness emboldened by a sensationalist media and the moronic Hollywood elites who pander to them at every opportunity . They will be brought to justice but when? How many more innocents need to be murdered before we come to our senses."

In response to John's post, one fan complained that Dolmayan never speaks up when racial injustice towards blacks occurs, and said that "downplaying systemic racism in the U.S. is playing a dangerous game," to which John replied: "There is no systemic racism in the United States. Name one example"

Dolmayan has praised Donald Trump in recent weeks and has accused Democrats of "demonizing" the president and "blaming him for everything under the sun."

Last month, Dolmayan blasted "cowards" who criticize those who think they are "coming from a morally superior position," saying that they "can't handle free speech" and "need to be herded along with the rest of the sheep."

He also called Democrats "the true bigots" who "fought to maintain slavery" and were "directly responsible for 70 plus million abortions, a large majority of whom were black."

Dolmayan supports Trump's claim that his administration has done more for the African-American community "than any president since Abraham Lincoln."

John's views are in sharp contrast to those of SYSTEM OF A DOWN singer Serj Tankian, who has called for Trump to resign and described him as "completely useless" over his handling of the coronavirus outbreak.

Other members of SYSTEM have also been outspoken in their criticism of the U.S. president, with guitarist Daron Malakian telling The Independent: "[Trump is] not careful with his words, and he doesn't seem to realize that everybody's listening to him. He does things that would have got another president impeached. Because we live in the social media world our attention spans are so small and so brief... that's why Trump works, because he makes himself the biggest conversation, and the biggest news, every day."

Paul Masvidal, who toured and recorded with DEATH between 1989 and 1992, has reflected on his time with the legendary death metal band.

On Sunday (July 5), Paul took to his Instagram to share a video of one of his performances with DEATH, as well as a band photo, and he included the following message: "I saw some photos recently that roused nostalgic thoughts around the years I played with Chuck [Schuldiner] and his band, DEATH. We met through a mutual friend in the underground tape trading scene in the 80's and connected around music, guitars, smoking grass and a mutual love of animals.

"In 1989, while I was still in high school, Chuck asked if I could perform dates with the group in Mexico City. I had about a week to learn over a dozen tunes, and off we went. Although I had already played numerous gigs with my other group CYNIC by then, flying to Mexico City and performing for a sea of insanely ravenous fans at a sold-out arena was mind-blowing for a teenager. On that trip, we did a record store signing and performed live on a Mexican TV show (this video is edited moments from that). Little did I know then that just a few years later, we'd be making the album 'Human' together, along with Sean Reinert and Steve DiGiorgio.

"In the song 'Pull The Plug', Chuck sings from the perspective of someone on their death bed being kept alive by a machine:

"'What has now been days, it seems like years; to stay like this is what I fear. Life ends so fast, so take your chance and make it last.'

"When I read those words, I'm reminded of the many people I've sat bedside with at the threshold of death, haunted by the fear that they did not live a meaningful life. How often have we been willing to stretch beyond our limits and change, finding the courage to heal our old wounds and become more authentically alive?

"Chuck died in 2001, and my lifelong friend and bandmate Sean Reinert died in 2020. Life lasts only a moment. Who we are is consciousness itself, in human form. The task is to keep one foot on the Earth and your head in the cosmos, to tread with a light and spacious heart, and to know that impermanence is part of this experience. I can enter into this world and care for it lovingly, and at the same time know that it is temporary and will disappear, as I will. Life becomes a precious and rare thing when I remember that."

Masvidal has worked as a volunteer with ailing and terminally ill populations for about 25 years.

Paul's former DEATH and CYNIC bandmate Sean Reinert died at his California home in January. The drummer was only 48 years old.

QUEEN drummer Roger Taylor says that a sequel to the band's biopic "Bohemian Rhapsody" is unlikely to happen.

Released in November 2018, "Bohemian Rhapsody" has become the highest-grossing musical biopic of all time, bringing in more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office. It was also No. 1 biggest-selling film of 2019 on home release.

Asked in a new interview with Rolling Stone if there were any ideas they were throwing around for a possible "Bohemian Rhapsody" sequel, Taylor said: "I have to say no. I really do think that we need to sit back for a year or two and look at things and see if that is a believable or credible thing to do. The movie was a great hit. We were delighted, obviously. But I think I wouldn't want to be seen as cashing in again. I'd have to have a very, very good script and scenario to make that work. Right now, I can't think of a way of doing a sequel."

He continued: "If somebody comes up with a genius plan, maybe we'll think about it. [Laughs] Right now, we're just very happy with what the movie did. There are so many sequels that don't match up to the original one. There are obvious ones that did, but on the whole, I think it's a dangerous territory."

Roger went on to say that he was surprised by the success of the movie.

"It was extraordinary," he said. "There was the Golden Globes and the BAFTAs and then the Oscars! We thought, 'Hey, we'll take it!' It was a great ride, but it wasn't our world. Our world is the rock and roll world. It was fascinating and very interesting to be involved. When the movie got four Oscars, it took a while for that to sink in. Mind you, they didn't give Brian [May, guitar] and me any. That's okay, though."

Two months ago, May also ruled out a follow-up film, telling Rolling Stone: "Don't think we didn't think about it. We've talked. Basically, we think not, at the moment. Things could change, I suppose, but I think it would be difficult."

According to May, part of the challenge in making another movie is that it would likely focus on singer Freddie Mercury's battle with AIDS, with which he was diagnosed in 1987. Mercury battled the disease in private, telling only a select few close friends in the years which followed. He died in November 1991.

"I don't think that would be an uplifting thing to do," May told Rolling Stone. "I'm not saying it's impossible because there is a great story there, but we don't feel that's the story we want to tell at the moment."

QUEEN's six-song performance at Live Aid serves as the triumphant finale for "Bohemian Rhapsody", starring Rami Malek as Mercury. But the movie left out a ton of the actual Mercury story, as May acknowledged during his Rolling Stone interview.

"There's a million things in our career which you couldn't show in a movie since the movie had to be so simplified to make it watchable," the guitarist said. "But we don't really think there's another movie there. That's the long and the short of it. I think we should look somewhere else. There are other ideas that we had, but I don't think a sequel will happen. But we have looked at it pretty seriously."

Despite poor reviews and a problematic director (original director Bryan Singer was replaced by Dexter Fletcher during shooting), "Bohemian Rhapsody" came out of the gate a massive hit and has since dethroned "Straight Outta Compton" to become the highest-grossing music biopic of all time.

In the film, Mercury's AIDS diagnosis comes earlier than it did it real life; before the Live Aid performance at Wembley Stadium, when, in reality, Mercury was diagnosed with AIDS in 1987.

Regarding any changes to the timeline of what actually happened in real life, Taylor told Mojo magazine: "The important thing is it did happen. We're not telling lies. The chronology doesn't really matter."

Mikkey Dee has confirmed that he recently tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

The former MOTÖRHEAD and current SCORPIONS drummer took to his social media to address rumors of his illness after Don Dokken recently said that Mikkey "lost 35 pounds" and "was really in bad shape" after contracting the virus in Australia.

Earlier today, Dee wrote on Instagram: "Hello guys! "I just want to set some rumors straight regarding Don Dokkens statement about my Corona situation.

"I did get Corona and was sick for about 1 month. I am now fully recovered since mid April. I was already playing hockey and drums by the end of April.

"Unfortunately my good friend Don got some info wrong. I did not get Corona in Australia, the virus was contracted in Sweden. I did not loose 35 pounds, I lost 15 pounds. But as I just mentioned, I am now fully recovered and have registred antibodies so that feels great.

"I can't wait for things to go back to normal so we can hit the road again.

"Thank you guys for caring and my heart goes out to each and everyone affected by the current situation our world is in.

"Stay safe! Mikkey"

In his interview with Songfacts, Dokken stated: "I talked to Mikkey Dee from the SCORPIONS the other night, and he and his wife got COVID in Australia. They were in the middle of nowhere and got it. He called me up and he said, 'I'll tell you, Don, you don't want to get it. I was on the floor.' He lost 35 pounds. He was sick as a dog. He was in a hospital. He was really in bad shape. He said, 'I don't know how I got it.' Because they had social distancing big-time in Australia."

More than 11.5 million coronavirus cases have been reported worldwide and more than 535,000 deaths so far, putting public health systems and emergency services under immense pressure.

U.S. officials have repeatedly urged Americans to heed what federal, state and local officials are asking of them in order to curtail the spread and dampen the impact of the virus on the population.

Sammy Hagar has paid tribute to country music and southern rock legend Charlie Daniels, who died Monday morning after suffering a hemorrhagic stroke. He was 83.

Hagar took to his social media earlier today to share a a photo of him with Daniels, and wrote in an accompanying message: "Had the honor of spending a day talking and playing music together at his home outside Nashville for a Rock&RollRoadTrip. Charlie Daniels was the real deal–a great musician, singer-songwriter, and outlaw. Legend, innovator, and good person. RIP."

Daniels died at Summit Medical Center in Hermitage, Tennessee.

Funeral arrangements will be announced in the coming days.

German medieval rock masters, Feuerschwanz, have released the official music video for their song "Meister der Minne". The song comes off their brand new album Das Elfte Gebot, which was released on June 26 and landed #3 of the official German album charts.

METALLICA has posted another video as part of its new concert series, "#MetallicaMondays", where the band is streaming a complete live show for fans on the group's YouTube channel and on Facebook every week. The latest concert to be shared was recorded on on June 28, 2007 at Parque do Tejo in Lisbon, Portugal.

METALLICA has been largely out of the public eye since last fall when the band canceled an Australian tour and announced that frontman James Hetfield was returning to rehab for the first time since 2002 to battle his addictions.

Hetfield made his first major public appearance since entering rehab on January 30, when an exhibit featuring 10 of his classic custom cars opened at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles.

In March, METALLICA announced that its South American tour, which was originally planned for April, has been postponed until December. In addition, the band's appearances at four Danny Wimmer Presents-produced festivals in May and September have been canceled: Epicenter in Charlotte, Welcome To Rockville in Daytona, Sonic Temple in Columbus and Louder Than Life in Louisville.

Guitarist Kirk Hammett told The Pulse Of Radio not long ago that METALLICA has to be in better than average shape to play its music live. "There's a physicality to our music that we cannot ignore, so we just kind of have to keep ourselves in a certain sort of physical sort of state where that we can't let ourselves get to a point where we can't play these songs," he said. "That's just not allowed. When we write this music, we have to make sure that we can play it and play it when we need to play it."
