Ex-FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH Drummer JEREMY SPENCER Doesn't Care What You Think About His New BandFormer FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH drummer Jeremy Spencer spoke to Belgian Jasper about the negative reaction from some fans to his PSYCHOSEXUAL project, in which he handles lead vocals as the Devil Daddy character.
"We're in a day and age now where pretty much everything that comes out by everyone is hated on by at least some group of people," he said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). "That's the new way things work. They get the stimulation from doing that, they get the hate juice, it's exciting for them, so good — we gave them something to work with. There's also people that do want something different and like theatrical stuff and stuff that's tongue-in-cheek; there's an audience for that. There's also bonehead metal guys, there's hard rock people — there's slots for everyone. And we do eclectic music, so somebody will find something they like within this collection of songs, I'm pretty sure. And if they don't, hey, that's fine.
"Artists make music for themselves, first and foremost," he continued. "They're selfish; that's just how it goes. And then they hope people like it, and if they do, great. If they don't, that's great.
"I'm the type of person that I have read comments in the past. I came from one of the most hated bands of the past two decades, in FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH. So I've heard every possible hate that you can come up with; there's nothing I can be told that's gonna faze me one bit."
Spencer went on to say that he is "empathetic" with the people who post negative comments on social media. "Nobody that's happy or successful would spend their time on a message board dogging somebody else," he reasoned. "Do you think Lars Ulrich [METALLICA] gets on message boards and dogs people? No, he doesn't. He does not give a fuck. So what you think about me is none of my business. I make music for me. If you like it, great. If you don't, great. I don't want to read that you like it, 'cause I don't want it in my head. I don't even care. I wanna just stay focused on my goals and the task at hand, write music that feels right. They're all snapshots in time, they come out real quick, and then you move on to the next thing. So to get wrapped up in what somebody thinks: 'Shit, I really hope that they like it.' I could give a fuck, man. I keep going and do it because it's fun, and once it's not fun anymore, I won't do it because I don't have to.
"I've had a lot of success with FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH," he continued. "I'm extremely greateful for that opportunity. It afforded me a great life with a lot of great experiences, touring, headlining arenas all over the world. That's a rarity. That's winning the lottery, once in a lifetime, if you're lucky. I did that.
"[PSYCHOSEXUAL] is [about] surround[ing] yourself with positive people that have the same vision, that wanna have a good time, put on a crazy fun show. There's no rules because we're all in characters and we can take it as far as we want. It's fantasy, it's horror, it's old vampire movies, it's whatever the fuck we want it to be. So I'm just having a good time. There's no stress, there's no pressure, and, like I said, I'll continue to do it as long as it's fun. And once it stops being fun, I'm done — because I don't need to do it."
PSYCHOSEXUAL's second album, "Unholy Hymns For The Children", will be made available in the fall.
In March, Spencer removed all the previously released music and videos from PSYCHOSEXUAL ahead of the arrival of "Devil From Hell", which was the first single and video from "Unholy Hymns For The Children". At the time, Jeremy called the move "a reboot" and said PSYCHOSEXUAL was "starting over."
PSYCHOSEXUAL released its debut album, "Torch The Faith", last July. It was co-produced by Spencer and Shawn McGhee (DROWNING POOL) and released via Spencer's 6eX Records. The debut premiered at No. 150 on the Billboard 200 chart, reaching No. 5 on the Hard Music Albums, No. 12 on Top New Artist Albums and No. 30 on Current Rock Albums.
Prior to the arrival of "Devil From Hell", PSYCHOSEXUAL's last release was the covers EP "Songs To Stalk You By", which came out last November. The EP reunited Spencer with former FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH guitarist Jason Hook, who contributed solos on the KISS classic "Watchin' You" and QUEENSRŸCHE's "Gonna Get Close To You". The recordings marked the first time the pair had worked together since both parted ways with FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH.
Spencer, who sports a Mephistophelian mask as Devil Daddy, is joined in PSYCHOSEXUAL by guitarist Crucifer, bassist Astaroth and drummer Volac.
Jeremy, who co-founded FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH with guitarist Zoltan Bathory, left the band so that he could undergo back surgery in the fall of 2018 that required a significant recovery period.
Spencer's replacement in FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH is Charlie "The Engine" Engen. Engen made his recording debut with the band on the "F8" album, which came out in February 2020.

Exclusive: PENTRAL Premieres “The Shell I’m Living In” VideoPentral is the new Brazilian band that mixes hard rock and progressive metal music, and though the two brothers Victor Lima (vocals and guitar), and Vagner Lima (drums), and their third bandmate Joe Ferry (bass) had worked together before, under that current name they released their debut album, What Lies Ahead Of Us, May 7 independently. Pentral has been around since last year dropping some versions of classic rock songs from iconic bands through their YouTube channel, like Queen, The Beatles and Led Zeppelin. Purchase/stream What Lies Ahead Of Us here.
BraveWords is premiering new video, “The Shell I’m Living In”, check it out below!
Victor Lima comments on the video and song: “The Music video was recorded in our home town in Brazil - Belem, with many shots taken from the historic center of the city and some scenes in flashback from the previous recordings in the woods nearby, and the band playing in the forest as well. We had some issues doing that because many scenes were captured in the middle of people who were in their ordinary working days. This was intentional to make it more authentic, as many people there were doing their own things, and we naturally paid attention not to show anyone's clear image without their previous approval. The recordings of "The Shell I'm Living In" took us a couple of days. We've been graced with amazing days and nights, brilliant acting performances from the actresses Anne and Duda, an inspiring direction by Roger Elarrat and beautiful Photography by Lucas Escocio. The whole team was incredible and emotive, and this intense atmosphere really stood out through the video.
“‘The Shell I'm Living In ‘- One of the chapters of our debut album What Lies Ahead Of Us. The child and her mother in mourning after the death of her husband, roam around the city. This is meditative and emotional, but also fierce and energetic. An inspirational rock song to make you think and get some extra strength, thinking about the huge challenges many people face around the world.
“Poverty and hunger have no specific place or country. All around the world you see people who are socially deprived due to a lack of food, health, freedom, education, and many other needs. Brazil is no different and we’ve never been worse than we are now. In our “story” describing the daily reality – the mother and her child after running away from the forest that is being burned down and try to survive in the city, facing hunger and all sorts of harassment, with a spiritual presence always around them.”
The power trio music goes from progressive rock foundations to the heaviness of traditional and contemporary metal bands, without losing their links to the vibrant Brazilian groove and its diverse harmony. Beyond the three aforementioned major influences, Rush and Metallica are names that come to one’s mind when listening to these guys.
“It’s all about the song! It’s funny and challenging making music with uncommon time signatures and harmonies, and melodies that truly sound musical and heavy at the same time, but it’s not a matter of achieving this accomplishment for the sake of its complexity. It all comes to writing meaningful songs”, says Victor, who wrote music and lyrics of the ten tracks.
“By meaningful, I mean not only a song with good hooks, great tones, catchy chorus, rock-solid riffage, thunderous drums and pulsating bass guitar. It got to have a true message that deserves to be told and shared with real persons. You have to tell your truth that resonate with someone else” adds Victor.
These words above surely can explain the reason for the name of this three-piece act. “Pentral” stands for “Soul” in Latin.
What Lies Ahead of Us is a concept album and it portrays a story that is fictional but pretty common in Brazil and in many parts all over the world. A couple who lives in the woods gives birth to a child among the threat of the beast - which is pretty much the human being itself - interested in destroying the rainforest and making money with that. The woman has premonitions about the sad ending. Eventually, they have to run to survive as the invaders arrive. In the city, the characters have to deal with racism, selfishness, prejudice, and indifference. “Silent Trees” is the first single and the first chapter, and it’s a song that describes the trees who “talk” with the woman telling her to run away, protect her kid and warn her about all the suffering and sorrow that are to come, caused by greed. The trees can only witness the entire drama and warn humans who live in the woods of the danger.

DREAM THEATER's JAMES LABRIE Covers MÖTLEY CRÜE's 'Kickstart My Heart' With FALSETDREAM THEATER singer James LaBrie has joined forces with Canadian rockers FALSET, who feature in their ranks his son, drummer Chance LaBrie, to record a blistering cover of the MÖTLEY CRÜE classic "Kickstart My Heart". You can hear the track below.
James said: "To cover MÖTLEY CRÜE's 'Kickstart My Heart' with FALSET was both a blast and reminiscent of when I was in a band called SHOCK CANDY back in '86. SHOCK CANDY was a MÖTLEY CRÜE cover band and I had one hell of time touring with this band. Needless to say, when asked to be involved and sing this MÖTLEY classic with FALSET, I jumped at the opportunity.
"The CRÜE was always to me that raw, down-to-earth, kick-ass rock band that many acts wish they could imitate and attain, but such heights were enjoyed by very few, and the CRÜE did it and played it like no other.
"Hope you all enjoy this cover by FALSET and myself and do yourself a huge favor and check out FALSET's originals. This band has it all going on — great structure, killer riffs and undeniable hooks. They are an undeniable emerging musical force to be reckoned with.
"Crank this tune up to maximum and see you all out on tour sometime soon."
Added Chance: "I remember as a kid I'd always look up to my dad. I thought being in a band and travelling around the world to play songs was the coolest job ever. I still think that. Flash-forward to now and we are now dropping a song together… it's absolutely crazy. We all had a lot of fun working on this one. We hope you enjoy this homage to the great MÖTLEY CRÜE."
FALSET released its debut album, "We Follow Or Lead The Way", in October 2020. Produced by Zach Copeland and mixed by Nolly Getgood (PERIPHERY, DEVIN TOWNSEND), the LP combines metalcore, modern rock, djent, and prog elements highlighted by heavy-hitting breakdowns, soaring melodic vocals, and virtuosic guitar solos for a collection of exciting and memorable material.

SLOW DEATH LIGHTS Cover W.A.S.P. Classic “I Wanna Be Somebody” Feat. CHRIS HOLMESSlow Death Lights has released a cover of the 1984 W.A.S.P. classic “I Wanna Be Somebody” featuring original guitarist Chris Holmes.
I Wanna Be Somebody (feat. Chris Holmes) by Slow Death Lights
The band comments: “It's huge, heavy and punishing. The sheer power and tone that Chris brings is untouchable, added some serious personality with his unmistakable sound. We slowed down our version to half-time, maintaining mammoth drums, haunting vocals, layers of rhythm guitars, and that iconic lead guitar that will melt your speakers.
“The message is simple: we all want to be somebody and leave a memorable mark before we die. Look out for more singles and a full-length album this fall.”

Layered guitars immediately create a shimmering soundscape before crashing into the hooky and brutal main riff. At the crux of the track, lead singer and lyricist Mack Mullins reflects on how failed opportunities can lead to bigger and better ones, as he sings "this setback's a setup, and I'm standing tall."

"With its mellow opening intro, harmony-laden bridge, and fastidious blend of melody and aggression, this song is one of my favorite tracks on the album," says Mack. PETER TÄGTGREN's PAIN Releases Music Video For New Single 'Party In My Head'PAIN, the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer Peter Tägtgren, has released its first original song in five years: "Party In My Head".
Blending '80s synth, electro, and metal, PAIN delivers one hell of an anthem providing a powerful sonic vaccine against the distress and depression caused by the worldwide pandemic.
Tägtgren comments: "I decided to write a song about all the bullshit from the last year of lock-up and people's struggle, including my own, to adapt to the new way of life. Suddenly, all of us had to deal with our inner selves in our secluded new life, so this is the cheer-up song for people. Each of us has our own party in our head. Musically, it's a hell of a party song. I can't wait to play it live."
The video features a guest appearance by Joe Lynn Turner (RAINBOW, YNGWIE J. MALMSTEEN, DEEP PURPLE) and the return of the Alien from PAIN's biggest hit, "Shut Your Mouth".
PAIN was formed in 1996 by Tägtgren — known as the mastermind of iconic death metal veterans HYPOCRISY and producer for AMON AMARTH, CHILDREN OF BODOM, DIMMU BORGIR, IMMORTAL, and SABATON, among others, as well as Till Lindemann's collaborator on two No. 1 albums with LINDEMANN. Peter's life has been immersed in music, in pushing boundaries and taking ideas to both their logical and illogical extremes. It's a calling that has made him one of Europe's most respected musicians and producers.
For the recordings of "Gimme Shelter" and "Party In My Head", Peter has been joined by his son Sebastian Tägtgren playing the drums.
PAIN's latest album, "Coming Home", was released in September 2016 through Nuclear Blast.

MAX CAVALERA's GO AHEAD AND DIE Releases Music Video For 'G.A.A.D.'The official Jim Louvau-directed music video for "G.A.A.D.", the latest single from Arizona's GO AHEAD AND DIE, can be seen below. The song is taken from the band's self-titled debut album, which is being released today (Friday, June 11) via Nuclear Blast.
GO AHEAD AND DIE features vocalist and guitarist Max Cavalera (SOULFLY, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, SEPULTURA) along with his son, singer, guitar and bass player Igor Amadeus Cavalera, as well as Zach Coleman on drums. GO AHEAD AND DIE's sound mixes elements of death and thrash metal, with early CELTIC FROST influences and a punk attitude.
Max comments: "Pissed off! Angry! Unapologetic! Raw! This album is what happens when greed and injustice take over. We must use our music as a weapon!"
Igor Amadeus states: "'G.A.A.D.' is the anthem to this album and to these fucked up times. A middle finger to those in control, those that decide who lives and who dies."
GO AHEAD AND DIE's tempos are wild, with a contempt for modern social ills palpable, its riffs monstrous and captivating. They make angry, spiteful, utterly engaging, spirited extreme music for increasingly extreme times.
The self-titled debut sees Max and Igor splitting guitar and vocal duties, with utter madman style drumming from Coleman of the blistering BLACK CURSE and critically acclaimed KHEMMIS. It sounds like a relic from the glory days of thrash, proto-death metal, and filthy rotten punk, the kind of band that would inspire a teenaged thrasher in 1987 to carve the GO AHEAD AND DIE logo into a school desk.
Vocals weren't tracked over and over in the pursuit of some kind of "perfect" takes. Coleman didn't play to a click-track. The heart and soul of GO AHEAD AND DIE is all about just going for it, the traditional way. Engineer Charles Elliott captured the sessions with the help of Platinum Underground Studio owner John Aquilino. The album was mixed by Arthur Rizk, whose credits include POWER TRIP, CRO-MAGS, and CAVALERA CONSPIRACY. The artwork for the album was created by Stewart Easton while the Circle logo was created by Jeff Walker (CARCASS).
Max describes GO AHEAD AND DIE as a "one-of-a-kind father/son collaboration bringing the old school with a new attitude! Sick riffs and abrasive lyrics from Igor and brutal drumming from Zach Coleman (BLACK CURSE, KHEMMIS) inspired me," he says. "Extreme times call for extreme music!"
Igor states: "G.A.A.D. will deliver fast-paced, hate-fueled energy that hasn't been heard in years.”
Zach Coleman adds: "I feel like we were able to capture (extreme) aggression with the record. It's a mix of old-school (think '89-era metal/punk) style and newer sounds that reflect what's going on around us. Protest and survive!"
"Go Ahead And Die" track listing:
01. Truckload Full Of Bodies
02. Toxic Freedom
03. I.C.E. Cage
04. Isolated/Desolated
05. Prophet's Prey

MR. BUNGLE Unveil "Eracist" Live Video From The Night They Came HomeMr. Bungle, whose Halloween 2020 streaming special, The Night They Came Home, captured the Northern California-born band performing songs from their freshly released album, The Raging Wrath Of The Easter Bunny Demo, interspersed with behind-the-scenes footage, surprise cameos and a few unexpected covers, release the nearly two-hour film on June 11 via Ipecac Recordings.
As an advance preview, Mr. Bungle has issued the live video of "Eracist", which can be seen below. Speaking to Emily Carter of Kerrang about The Raging Wrath Of The Easter Bunny Demo track, bassist Trevor Dunn explains, "'Eracist is a unique song in the Raging Wrath book. There was no initial demo, only a ‘moshy’ riff that [Mike] Patton had come up with in the ’80s, that somehow Trey [Spruance] remembered. Once that was unearthed Patton completed the tune with a double-time bridge and some lyrics about erasure and denial."
"It seems to me that it somehow feels contemporary while fitting in with our teenage songwriting style. I guess that’s because it was written over a span of 35 years! You may notice that it’s one of the only songs on the ‘demo’ that actually has a vocal melody. Back in the ’80s we were mostly thinking about drums and guitar, which of course, is really all that metal is about."
The Night They Came Home, which was directed by Jack Bennett, is available as a CD + Blu-Ray, CD + DVD, VHS, and digitally. The CD portion features remastered audio, while the film features Bungle’s performance, Neil Hamburger’s opening set, three official music videos (“Raping Your Mind,” “Eracist,” and “Sudden Death”), as well as extended behind-the-scenes footage. The VHS release, limited to 1000 collectible copies, is an edited, performance-only portion of the film.
Watch the "Bungle Grind" and "Loss Of Control" videos below, and pre-order The Night They Came Home here.
The Night They Came Home tracklisting:
"Won’t You Be My Neighbor" (Fred Rogers cover)
"Anarchy Up Your Anus"
"Raping Your Mind"
"Bungle Grind"
"Methematics"
"Hell Awaits"/"Summer Breeze" (Slayer/Seals & Croft medley/cover)
"Eracist"
"World Up My Ass" (Circle Jerks cover)
"Glutton For Punishment"
"Hypocrites/Habla Español O Muere" (S.O.D. cover)
"Spreading The Thighs Of Death"
"Loss For Words" (Corrosion Of Conformity cover)
"Sudden Death"
"Loss Of Control" (Van Halen cover)
"Bungle Grind" video:
"Loss Of Control" (Van Halen cover):
Mr. Bungle was formed in an impoverished lumber and fishing town by a trio of curious, volatile teenagers. Trey Spruance, Mike Patton and Trevor Dunn beget the amorphous “band” in 1985 up in Humboldt County, Calif., sifting through a variety of members until around 1989 when they settled on a lineup that managed to get signed to Warner Bros. Records. No one really knows how this happened and it remains a complete mystery that even the algorithms of the internet can’t decode. Up until 2000 they released three albums (Mr. Bungle in 1991, Disco Volante in 1995 and California in 1999), toured a good portion of the Western hemisphere and avoided any sort of critical acclaim. Some argue that the band subsequently broke up but there is also no proof of this. What is true is that they took 20 years off from performing under said moniker while they pursued various other musics that, in contrast, paid the rent.
Mr. Bungle have also confirmed their first live outing of 2021, performing at Riot Fest (Chicago) in September. The festival marks the first time Mike Patton has performed on the same bill with both Mr. Bungle and Faith No More, and marks the band’s first tour date since the Fall album release.

CARNIFIED Releases "Nocturna" Single Featuring SARAH JEZEBEL DEVACarnified is one of the veteran forces from the Brazilian extreme metal scene. Formed in 1994 by Alex Oliveira (vocals), Eduardo Araújo (bass), Leonardo Pinheiro (guitars) and Vicente Azevêdo (drums), the group released its first demo, Putrid Development, in 1994. In 1996 the group's music changed, influenced by the British death/doom metal acts, which resulted in their second demo, The Carnification. In 1998 their lineup also expanded, becoming a sextet, with which they recorded their first EP, O Primeiro Elo. With lyrics that tell stories of a world inhabited by gods who envy the human form, in 2001 they released Where The Gods Bleed, their debut album.
In 2005, the group went into a hiatus that ended in 2020. "We wouldn't go back if it weren't for something with real meaning," explained the drummer Vicente Azevêdo. After working on the re-release of their old work, the band, which is now a power trio formed by Dan Loureiro (vocals, bass), Marcos Franco (guitar) and Vicente Azevêdo (drums), is releasing "Nocturna", a single with the goal of going back into their essence.
The single features Sarah Jezebel Deva, a singer known for her work with Cradle Of Filth, Therion and Hecate Enthroned. About this partnership she commented: "It was a great privilege to be invited by Carnified to participate in a song on the new album. I had just bought equipment so I could record at home and they were the first band that approached me while I was learning. recording at home. I love the track, I loved the result and I wish the band lots of success in the future. They deserve it!"

SLIPKNOT's CLOWN Drops Two New Solo SongsSLIPKNOT's M. Shawn Crahan, also known as Clown, has just released two solo songs, "Brainwash Love - Death Inside" and "Live Your Life". The tracks, and their accompanying visuals, bring together dreamlike soundscapes that are a far cry from most of SLIPKNOT's musical output.
Crahan is not only the co-founder, percussionist, production designer and artistic visionary of SLIPKNOT, one of the world's biggest metal bands, he is a multi-faceted musician (DIRTY LITTLE RABBITS, TO MY SURPRISE, THE BLACK DOTS OF DEATH), a painter and photographer whose work has been exhibited in galleries globally and published in the 2012 book "The Apocalyptic Nightmare Journey", a director and videographer, having directed a string of music videos for music artists, including SLIPKNOT, MOTIONLESS IN WHITE and HOLLYWOOD UNDEAD, the 2016 movie adaptation of graphic novel "Officer Downe" and SLIPKNOT's own "Day Of The Gusano" and "Pollution" movies. He also has an extensive body of studio work, having produced albums for MUDVAYNE, DOWNTHESUN, GIZMACHI and 40 BELOW SUMMER and helmed remixes for the likes of BRING ME THE HORIZON, COHEED AND CAMBRIA, SUICIDE SILENCE, MARILYN MANSON, AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE and ESCAPE THE FATE, among others. He is also an actor, having starred as the carny "Tamer" in the 2012 movie "The Devil's Carnival", and an entrepreneur, guiding the development and blending of SLIPKNOT's No. 9 whiskey in collaboration with Iowa distillery Cedar Ridge. The multi-platinum, Grammy-winning artist has sold more than 30 million records with SLIPKNOT, whose last three albums debuted at No. 1 on both the Billboard 200 and the U.K. albums chart.
SLIPKNOT has spent the last few months working on the follow-up to 2019's "We Are Not Your Kind" album.
Last month, SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor told the Des Moines, Iowa radio station Lazer 103.3 that he and his bandmates had "a bunch of really cool stuff" for the new disc.
"We Are Not Your Kind" came out in August 2019. The disc sold 118,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in its first week of release to land at position No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Furthermore, the album made an impact worldwide with No. 1 debuts in the United Kingdom, Mexico, Australia, Canada, Japan, Ireland, Belgium, Portugal and Finland, as well as Top 5 debuts in Germany, France, Norway, Italy, Austria, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Poland, Spain and New Zealand.
The 2021 incarnation of SLIPKNOT's "Knotfest Roadshow" will take place this fall. Support will come from three Grammy-nominated heavy music luminaries, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, FEVER 333 and CODE ORANGE.
The 28-date run, produced by Live Nation, kicks off following the band's previously announced Knotfest Iowa hometown show in Des Moines on September 25. The "Knotfest Roadshow"'s first official date happens at Tinley Park, Illinois on September 28, with the tour then snaking its way across the U.S., wrapping up in Arizona in early November.

JUDAS PRIEST's ROB HALFORD: 'Honesty Brings You Peace'In a new interview with Marci Wiser of the 95.5 KLOS radio station, JUDAS PRIEST frontman Rob Halford spoke about his recently released autobiography, "Confess". Co-written with Ian Gittins, the book offers readers a compelling, heartfelt and honest look at the struggles the 69-year-old has faced with addiction and his sexuality as well as exploring his music and his many brushes with controversy.
"That's a really important thing to have in your life — honesty," Rob said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). "'Cause if you're an honest person, you don't lie, you don't have to cover your tracks. You don't have to be second-thinking everything that's going on — what you say, how you feel, what people might be saying. All that kind of falls away. So I think the biggest obstacle is finding your place of comfort and balance. And you already get that through living your life. You've just gotta live your life."
He continued: "For the most part, life is tough no matter what. I think it's a test — I think it's a big test, how you deal with the issues that are presented. You're walking on the street, and suddenly a great big heavy metal boulder [comes] in front of you. What do you do? You don't walk around it. You just start blasting away and push through it. So, I think, for me, that was one of the biggest revelations — was just discovering this great thing of… this honesty brings you peace."
"Confess" arrived last September via Hachette Books. In the book, Halford discusses in detail what it was like becoming the first metal icon to announce he is gay in 1998 during an MTV interview, despite knowing about his sexuality since he was 10. Although his bandmates and their management knew he was gay and were accepting, he was advised to be discreet given the macho hetero nature of the metal world. He also opens up about surviving sexual abuse, as well as his struggles with depression, substance abuse, sobriety, and the suicide of one of his former partners. He also talks about how his own suicide attempt in 1986 led him to the rehab program that saved his life.
Earlier this week, JUDAS PRIEST announced the rescheduled dates for the North American leg of its 50th-anniversary tour. Produced by Live Nation, the "50 Heavy Metal Years" trek will feature SABATON as openers. It will kick off on September 8 in Reading, Pennsylvania and run through October before concluding on November 5 in Hamilton, Ontario.
Tickets for the newly announced dates will go on sale beginning this Friday, June 11 at 10 a.m. local time at Ticketmaster. Tickets for the previously announced tour dates are available now.
In early April, JUDAS PRIEST's European tour, which was scheduled to kick off in late May, was once again postponed due to "ongoing COVID-19 vaccine issues." The trek will now run from May 27, 2022 in Moscow, Russia until July 31, 2022 in Oberhausen, Germany.
Last September, JUDAS PRIEST and Rufus Publications announced the publication of the first-ever official JUDAS PRIEST book documenting the band's extensive history over the last 50 years. Titled "Judas Priest - 50 Heavy Metal Years", the book has been put together by David Silver, Ross Halfin and Jayne Andrews.

DANKO JONES - New Single "Saturday" StreamingToronto rockers Danko Jones release their new single, "Saturday", today (Friday, June 11th). The song is taken from the band's new album, Power Trio, out August 27th. Check it out below, watch for the official video to surface later today.
Heralded by the raucous lead single "I Want Out", Power Trio - the 10th studio album from Toronto rock juggernauts Danko Jones is set to arrive on August 27. The full-throttle album sees the band reunited with Canadian independent label Sonic Unyon Records, who issued the trio's first recordings and who will release the band's latest masterpiece in North America. Pre-orders are available here. Watch the video for "I Want Out" below.
Power Trio sees Danko Jones delivering each engine-revving riff, soul-shaking stomp, and shout-it-loud hook with a sniper’s precision. It's such a simple, self-evident title, but one loaded with significance, as it speaks to the special triangular alchemy Danko shares with his trusty bass-slinging accomplice JC and drummer Rich Knox. It also stakes out the band’s place on a storied lineage of three-piece titans Jimi Hendrix Experience, ZZ Top, Rush, Motörhead, Venom, Dinosaur Jr., and the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, to name a few.
When you choose to start a power trio, you’re not simply forming a band, you’re entering a blood pact - a tacit acknowledgement that all three members need to carry their equal share of the weight lest the whole enterprise collapse. There’s nowhere to hide in a power trio - no second guitarist to cover your mistakes, no keyboard player to smooth things over, no horn section to distract the crowd. If you fuck up, the whole band fucks up. Everybody needs to be on their A-game at all times.
Power Trio follows the band's electrifying, world charting album, A Rock Supreme released in 2019. It also sees the band once again tapping into the production prowess of Eric Ratz, who previously amped up the bone-breaking boogie of 2017's full-throttle rocker Wild Cat and 2015's bloodlusty Fire Music.

ZEAL & ARDOR Share Unsettling New Video "Run"Following the recent release of portentous new song "Run", Zeal & Ardor have premiered the unsettling and sinister official video for the track.
Frontman Manuel Gagneux exclaims, "Very excited to share this video for 'Run'. Garrick Lauterbach, who directed it, and I share a fascination with deep dreams and AI. Being able to weave it into a narrative of mental diaspora was an incredible treat. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do."
Lauterbach adds, "Manuel Gagneux's smashing track enabled us to condense certain current fears through our digital consciousness — what a trip it was. Hold on to your tin foil hats and get ready to "RUN!'"
Gagneux previously commented on the song, saying, "'Run' is the first single we are releasing off of our self-titled album because, while there are definitely familiar elements present, it sets the tone for things to come. It is surely one of our most aggressive songs yet, but that is just a vanguard of what lies ahead. So run while you still can."

IAN PARRY's ROCK EMPORIUM Pay Tribute To QUEEN & FREDDIE MERCURY With "One Vision" Cover; AudioIan Parry celebrates his 40th year as a professional singer songwriter with the release of the new album by his melodic power rock / neo classical metal band, Rock Emporium. The album, Brute Force, was released last Friday via Metal Mind Productions.
"One Vision", a track originally written by Queen, is one of the songs included on the album. Says Ian Parry: "I wanted to capture the essence of the original Queen recording embracing the analogue drum and bass sounds, but without trying to copy Brian Mays classic guitar sound and Freddie’s unique voice. I am very proud of the performance from my musicians Ivar de Graaf (Within Temptation) for his authentic kick ass drums, but adding his own modern groove in parts. Jeroen van der Wiel (Rock Emporium “Society of Friends”), for his amazing Orchestral keyboard intro, piano, organ and sequencer hook line. Jeroen is a huge Queen fan so for him and all of us. My old Elegy colleague and friend bassist Martin Helmantel also added his own touch with a driving bass part in the solo section. Finally the rhythm and lead guitars with a traditional Marshall Amp sound from Dimitris Goutziamanis with an extra lead guitar part from Fabio Calluori. The music is finally complimented with what I regard as being my own powerful and emotional vocal performance supported by the fantastic choir & lead parts from Wade Black (Crimson Glory) and Stamina vocalist Stefano Sbrignadello. It was a great please to make such a tribute to Queen and now 30 years later after we sadly lost one of the greatest rock pop voices of all time, in memory of the late great Freddie Mercury."
Brute Force was produced by Ian and mixed by engineer / producer/ guitarist Fabio Calluori at Sonic Temple Studios Italy (Heimdall/Stamina/Sellitto).
Brute Force features heart breaking and powerful performances and songs, which go from strength to strength with a compelling impulse to listen again. Alongside Ian Parry are musicians/singers out the world of metal & members of well-known bands such as:
Beth-Ami Heavenstone (Graham Bonnet band)
Timo Somers (Delain)
Martin Helmantel (Elegy)
Barend Courbois (Blind Guardian)
Allan Sorensen (Royal Hunt / Pretty Maids)
Patrick Rondat (Jean-Michel Jarre / Consortium Project)
Patrick Johansson & Svante Henryson (Malmsteen)
Kris Gildenlöw (Pain of Salvation / Dial)
Luca Sellitto (Stamina)
Walter Cianciusi, Enrico Cianciusi & Dario Parente (Jeff Tate Band / Headless)
Ivar De Graaf (Within Temptation / Kingfisher Sky)
Bob Wijtsma (Ayreon)
Jeroen van der Wiel (Odyssice / Rock Emporium 1)
Sander Zoer (Leah/Delain)
Special guest singers include Wade Black (Crimson Glory / Leatherwolf / Seven Witches); Stefano Sbrignadello (Stamina) and Ani Lozanavo (Ani Lo Band). Additional guest: guitar solo on the bonus track "One Vision" performed by Fabio Calluori (Heimdall).

AIRFORCE Feat. Former IRON MAIDEN Drummer DOUG SAMPSON: New Album Coming SoonROAR! Rock Of Angels has announced the signing of AIRFORCE to a multi-album deal.
The history of AIRFORCE goes back over 40 years ago to 1979, to an East London-based band called EL-34 in which Chop Pitman and Tony Hatton played together first, and were able to gain ample live experiences with exciting gigs in legendary venues like the Marquee club, Ruskin Arms and Cart & Horses. After several years playing mostly London metal shows, the singer and drummer departed in 1986, leaving Chop and Tony looking for replacements. Chop's very good longtime friend, IRON MAIDEN mastermind Steve Harris, suggested his former drummer Doug Sampson, well known to all metal fans from IRON MAIDEN's first legendary studio recordings "Soundhouse Tapes". Steve arranged some studio time for himself, Chop, and Doug to have a rehearsal jam session together, and a slice of NWOBHM history was made: AIRFORCE was born.
But times were not easy. For a stable lineup, a permanent singer was missing and the band was unfortunately unable to find one in the first eleven years of its existence before they broke up.
Pitman initially continued the band name AIRFORCE live and with various musicians. The first AIRFORCE album was released in 2016 with "Judgment Day", a kind-of compilation that aroused renewed interest in the band. That was the starting shot for Chop to reunite the old band members Sampson and Hatton. In 2019, Flavio Lino joined AIRFORCE as the new frontman, the right man at the microphone having finnaly taken his his place.
AIRFORCE is currently working on a new live longplayer, to be released later this year, as well as on its eagerly awaited third full-length album.
MAIDEN's first demo recording, "Soundhouse Tapes", featured Sampson, Harris, singer Paul Di'Anno and guitarist Dave Murray. It eventually landed MAIDEN a record deal with EMI in 1980. The band's self-titled debut album brought about a new lineup with the addition of Clive Burr to replace Sampson and Dennis Stratton on guitar.
AIRFORCE is:
Flavio Lino - Vocals
Chop Pitman - Lead Guitar
Tony Hatton - Bass
Doug Sampson - D

ZZ TOP's BILLY GIBBONS Drops Music Video For New Solo Single, 'She's On Fire'The official music video for "She's On Fire", the latest single from ZZ TOP frontman Billy Gibbons, can be seen below. The track is the fourth single from Gibbons's new solo album, "Hardware", which was released on June 4 via Concord Records. The LP was recorded at Escape Studio in California's high desert, near Palm Springs, and was produced by Gibbons along with Matt Sorum and Mike Fiorentino, with engineer Chad Shlosser providing additional production.
Sorum, veteran of GUNS 'N' ROSES, VELVET REVOLVER and THE CULT, also serves as "Hardware"'s drummer and was joined in the album's core band by guitarist Austin Hanks. The same Gibbons-Sorum-Hanks aggregation recorded "The Big Bad Blues", Gibbons's earlier solo effort for Concord and winner of the Blues Foundation's Blues Music Award.
In contrast to "The Big Bad Blues" and "Perfectamundo", Gibbons's debut solo album, almost all of the "Hardware" repertoire is original and rock-oriented with eleven of the album's twelve songs written by Gibbons, Sorum, Fiorentino and Shlosser. The sole exception is "Hey Baby, Que Paso", originally recorded by the TEXAS TORNADOS. The album's title is a tribute to legendary recording engineer the late Joe Hardy who worked with Gibbons and ZZ TOP dating back to the mid-1980s. Sonically, the album was influenced by the high desert circumstance of its recording. Says Gibbons: "The desert settings, replete with shifting sands, cacti and rattlesnakes makes for the kind of backdrop that lends an element of intrigue reflected in the sounds created out there."
"Stackin' Bones", one of the album's standouts, features a guest appearance by LARKIN POE, with whom Gibbons has been familiar and friendly for quite a while. He initially met them through the good offices of Tyler Bryant, husband of LARKIN POE's Megan Lovell; he had toured extensively with ZZ TOP in the past. LARKIN POE also shared a bill with Billy at New York's "Love Rocks NYC" benefit in 2019 and the "Hardware" collaboration grew from there.
While a truly broad spectrum of approaches is notable on the album's hard driving tracks there is, to be sure, no mistaking the remarkable tone and growling vocals that are hallmarks of Billy Gibbons's artistry. Elements of traditional hard rock, neo-metal, country rock, new wave, blues and even surf music make "Hardware" difficult to categorize and it would be a fool's game to do so. In fact, "Desert High", the album's last track, is a spoken-word piece accompanied by a sinewy guitar that evokes the legend Graham Parsons, whose death 48 years ago took place very close to where "Hardware" was recorded.
Billy sums up the album's ecumenical construct: "We holed up in the desert for a few weeks in the heat of the summer and that in itself was pretty intense. To let off steam we just 'let it rock' and that's what Hardware is really all about. For the most part, it's a raging rocker but always mindful of the desert's implicit mystery."
"Hardware" track listing:
01. My Lucky Card
02. She's On Fire
03. More-More-More
04. Shuffle, Step & Slide
05. Vagabond Man
06. Spanish Fly
07. West Coast Junkie

EXTREME Is Close To Signing Record Deal For Release Of New AlbumEXTREME guitarist Nuno Bettencourt says that the band is close to signing a record deal for the release of its new album.
Bettencourt touched upon the status of EXTREME's long-completed LP while marking the 30th anniversary of the band's single "More Than Words" topping the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
On Wednesday (June 9), Nuno took to his Facebook page to write: "Billboard Charts On this day June 8, 1991. 30 years ago I got a call the night before from Billboard that 'More Than Words' would hit the top of the charts knocking off Mariah at #1. It's been an incredible journey since and we're still kickin it.
"With incredible meetings with record labels over the last few months to find a home for the new and upcoming EXTREME album, it makes it a great anniversary year to have a new release to share with the planet and especially our patient and non patient fans.
"Album done and and an almost inked deal... means an upcoming tour.
so pumped for all of it."
This past March, Bettencourt confirmed to Kylie Olsson's YouTube show "Life In Six Strings" that EXTREME's follow-up to 2008's "Saudades De Rock" had been "done for a year." He explained: "We were gonna release it last March, and the fucking pandemic came along. We debated and debated, and fans are still busting my balls every fucking day [on social media], 'Where is that album?' And it's hard to explain that it's, like, we can easily put it out — easily. Just, 'There it is. It's on iTunes. Go get it.', Or, 'It's on Spotify. Go get it.' But we're a touring band. And it might be a little old-school thinking — we wanna come and play this thing for you, and we wanna release it when we come and play it for you — not at the same time; it'll be soon. But we wanna be able to put it out and then have you be excited about it, live with it, come see the shows, come here, come there and do it. Now, if the pandemic keeps going the way it is, then we're not gonna be able to have that fucking cake and eat it too."
Nuno previously discussed EXTREME's new album during a February 2020 appearance on "Trunk Nation: L.A. Invasion" on SiriusXM. Asked why it took EXTREME more than 12 years to release a follow-up to "Saudades De Rock", Nuno said: "To be honest with you, we didn't wait that long. We probably have about three to four albums done. Not 'done done,' but we did an album pretty quickly.
"One thing I always said to Gary [Cherone, EXTREME singer], ever since we started this band, is I never wanna release anything that I can't wait to play people, that I just can't wait to share," he continued. "I don't wanna put out albums just for the sake of putting out albums. I loved the stuff we were doing, but then I started writing some other stuff that I liked better. And then we kind of scrapped that. Then I latched on to something where we thought we had an album done about two years ago, and then I just tapped into these three or four songs. It was a 'stop the presses' kind of moment for me, and I went, 'That's it.' It reminded me of when we kind of tapped into [1990's] 'Pornograffitti' back then, to me, where it was a big kind of uppercut. Gary refers to this album as 'Porno 2.0' every time he jokes about it, but it's very much like that kind of excitement for us."
A live package celebrating EXTREME's "Pornograffitti" album was made available in October 2016. Titled "Pornograffitti Live 25 / Metal Meltdown", it included a DVD, Blu-ray and audio CD recorded at the band's show at the Las Vegas Hard Rock Casino on May 30, 2015, where they performed the record in full.

WOLFGANG VAN HALEN Shoots Down Rumor VAN HALEN Recorded 60 Songs During 'A Different Kind Of Truth' SessionsIn a new interview with Songfacts, Wolfgang Van Halen, who became VAN HALEN's bassist in 2006 at the age of 15, was asked which songs he had the most hand in writing on 2012's "A Different Kind Of Truth", the sole VAN HALEN studio album he played on. He responded: "'Stay Frosty' was an idea Dave [Lee Roth, vocals] brought in that was completely original and not stemming from an older demo, but in terms of structure, I was the one that put it together. It was just this little acoustic ditty, and we were, like, 'Well, what do we do? We're not sure.' I was the one who actually structured the entire song on how it would go. And then there were the more fresher ideas like 'China Town' and 'The Trouble With Never', which I was really able to insert my own flair into and do the tapping intro with the capo on 'China Town'. But ideas like that, and 'You And Your Blues'. 'As Is' was a fresher idea. The ideas that were stemming from older ideas were things like 'She's The Woman', 'Beats Workin'', 'Bullethead', 'Big River', and stuff like that."
Asked if there were any leftover songs from the "A Different Kind Of Truth" sessions, Wolfgang said: "There were not. I don't know where this rumor came out saying that we recorded, like, 60 songs. What's on the album is everything we recorded. I have no idea where that rumor came from. There was one song we almost did that we wrote in the studio, but it fell apart before we had the chance to do it. It's so weird — I see VAN HALEN fans on Twitter go, 'I have the inside track... they recorded like, 60 songs.' And it's, like, 'No. No. No.'"
With Wolfgang on bass, VAN HALEN embarked on lengthy tours in 2007, 2012 and 2015. The band's final run of shows took place in the summer and fall of 2015. The North American trek included 41 concerts beginning on July 5, 2015 and ending on October 4, 2015.
Last fall, Wolfgang revealed that his father had contemplated a "kitchen-sink" VAN HALEN tour that would have included former bassist Michael Anthony, as well as vocal turns from both Sammy Hagar and David Lee Roth. There was even talk about bringing back Gary Cherone, who sang with the band on one poorly received album, 1998's "Van Halen III".
In early 2019, a rumor surfaced that the classic VAN HALEN lineup would reunite that summer for a run of stadium shows. This would have been the first time that Michael, David, Eddie Van Halen and Alex Van Halen performed together since 1984.
The rumors originally started with Roth, who hinted to Vulture that VAN HALEN would be playing stadiums with Anthony back in the lineup.
VAN HALEN and Anthony had not been on good terms for more than a decade, with Anthony not invited to join the reunion with Roth that began in 2007.
Anthony took a pay cut and signed away all of his rights to the band name and logo in order to participate in VAN HALEN's 2004 tour, which featured Hagar.

MOTÖRHEAD: Hear Previously Unreleased Soundcheck Recording Of 'Stay Clean' From 1981 TourLife on the road isn't all glamour and rock 'n' roll excess, and MOTÖRHEAD's punishing tour schedule in 1981 took them all over the globe as they rode high on the success of "Ace Of Spades". One integral part of the daily grind on the road is the soundcheck, although very little of it is ever seen or documented in the public domain. Fortunately, during the "Short Sharp Pain In The Neck" tour of March 1981, MOTÖRHEAD had a mobile recording studio in tow as they recorded their thunderous No. 1 live album "No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith", now celebrating its 40th year. This rare recording of them performing "Stay Clean" as they warmed up for the night at Newcastle on March 30 is accompanied by a video containing behind-the-scenes montages of the backbone of the MOTÖRHEAD live show; the legendary road crew.
Following on from 2020's year-long celebration of MOTÖRHEAD's iconic "Ace Of Spades" album comes the live album to end all live albums the undisputed definitive live record of all time, "No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith". To celebrate the 40th anniversary of this number one album, it is being presented in new deluxe editions on June 25.
There will be hardback book-packs in two CD and triple LP formats, featuring a new venue demolishing remaster of the original album, bonus tracks and the previously unreleased — in its entirety — concert from Newcastle City Hall, March 30, 1981, the story of the album and many previously unseen photos. Also, the album will be released as a four-CD box set of all three concerts recorded for the album, released here in their entirety for the very first time and primed to gleefully shatter what's left of your grateful eardrums.
Upon that original June 27, 1981 release, Lemmy is quoted as saying of "No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith" after it crashed into number one in the U.K. chart: "I knew it'd be the live one that went best, because we're really a live band. You can't listen to a record and find out what we're about. You've got to see us." "No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith" was MOTÖRHEAD's first and only number one record in the U.K. and is still the most necessary live album of all time.
The "No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith" CD box set contains:
* The "No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith" album, remastered from the original master tapes. Featuring extra bonus tracks and newly unearthed, previously unreleased sound check recordings.
* The three full recordings of the concerts that made up "No Sleep", never before released in their entirety.
* The story of "No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith" told through previously unpublished and new interviews with the people that were on the road at the time.
* Never-before-seen photos and rare memorabilia.
* Double-sided, A3 concert posters from 1981.
* Reproduction USA '81 tour pass.
* MOTÖRHEAD "England" plectrum.
* 1981 European tour badge.
* Reproduction Newcastle City Hall ticket
* Port Vale gig flyer postcard
MOTÖRHEAD in 1981 was a band of extremes; a flammable mix of non-stop celebration over their rising success and punishing graft, underscored by an inter-band powder-keg dynamic. After recording "Ace Of Spades", it had shot to No. 4 in the UK; the killer breakthrough after "Overkill" and "Bomber" had done essential groundwork, late 1980's "Ace Up Your Sleeve" U.K. tour was a triumphant lap of honour that spilled into the recording of "No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith". The album took its title from an inscription painted on one of the trucks, referencing the 32 gigs they were playing with only two days off. The track listing ended up featuring three tracks from "Ace Of Spades", five from "Overkill", "Bomber"'s title track and two from their self-titled debut.

LAURENNE/LOUHIMO Feat. BATTLE BEAST And SMACKBOUND Singers: 'The Reckoning' Music VideoFrontiers Music Srl has announced the release of the debut album from one of its most exciting new projects, a collaboration between powerhouse Finnish vocalists Noora Louhimo (BATTLE BEAST) and Netta Laurenne (SMACKBOUND), under the banner LAURENNE/LOUHIMO. "The Reckoning" will be unleashed on July 9 on CD/LP/digital. Today, fans can get another taste of the album with second single and music video, "The Reckoning".
Laurenne says: "With this album, I wanted to capture the essence of classic heavy metal and hard rock and combine it with great melodies and lyrics that have value. It was clear from the beginning, having two strong voices on the album, that this album was going to be full of power, energy, attitude and emotion. I envisioned it lovingly kicking everyone's ass, my own included, and I think it does just that. It's pushing us to do better and evolve, yet having great empathy towards the struggles we all face as humans."
Adds Louhimo: "My inspiration was definitely the thought of empowering and the songs giving a feeling of strength and sensitivity. And us interpreting the songs from our hearts and souls with full force, leaving no question about how passionate we are as vocalists and artists."
Serafino Perugino, Frontiers president/head of A&R, said: "I believe Netta is a truly gifted and talented artist, and this is one of a few records besides SMACKBOUND that we will start a fruitful creative and artistic cooperation with her on. To pair her with Noora, who literally blows everyone away with her smashing vocals in not only her main band BATTLE BEAST, but also on MAGNUS KARLSSON'S FREE FALL and HEART HEALER records, is incredibly exciting and an honor."
After Perugino approached Netta about the possibility of some new projects for the label, including a duets album, Netta realized this was the perfect opportunity to fulfill her idea of a collaborative album with Noora. And now, these two incredible singers have put together a storming melodic metal album.

THIN LIZZY’s Greatest Hits To Be Released On Vinyl In JulyThin Lizzy is unquestionably one of the true icons of British rock. Nobody has ever sounded like them, yet they have influenced countless others. Phil Lynott's poetic lyricism, the unmatchable dual guitar precision and peerless melodies, all of this is part of the Lizzy heritage and what they have left behind is powerful and influential.
The band formed as a three-piece in Dublin and 1970 but didn’t achieve their breakthrough until 1973 when they had their first hit single, a version of the traditional Irish song "Whiskey in The Jar", which reached #6 in the UK.
There was to be a further shake-up when the band decided to expand the lineup to a four-piece, with Scottish teenager Brian Robertson and American Scott Gorham both coming in on guitar and creating the Lizzy signature sound. The 1976 album Jailbreak proved to be the moment that Thin Lizzy arrived on the world stage as an unstoppable force. The album stormed to #10 in the UK and #18 in America, and the band’s enduring anthem "The Boys Are Back in Town" was a transatlantic hit single. It got to #8 in Britain and #12 in the States.
In 1978, the band released Live And Dangerous, which is rightly regarded as one of the all-time great live albums. The band finally called it a day in 1983, with their final British performance being a headlining slot at the Reading Festival that August.
On January 4, 1986, Lynott tragically died at the age of 36 but left behind a catalogue of songs that stands head and shoulders above any of his peers.
In their relatively short career, the band scored eight Top 20 hits over eight years and no less than eight albums in the UK Top 20, three of which would make the Top 10 and four the Top 5.
This Greatest Hits 2 LP set, available on July 30, brings together all the band’s hits and live favourites on vinyl for the first time in a non-limited edition form. Lizzy expert Nick Sharp has overseen the tracklisting, which is all killer, no filler and pure unadulterated Thin Lizzy.

JON OLIVA Has Enough Material For Three New SAVATAGE AlbumsJon Oliva, the American composer, multi-instrumentalist and singer who is best known as the founder of and keyboardist and lead vocalist for SAVATAGE, spoke to That Metal Interview about the possibility of new music from the cult metal outfit. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Ever since [SAVATAGE's 2001 album] 'Poets And Madmen', I have been writing SAVATAGE material. Me and [guitarists] Al Pitrelli and Chris Caffery, over the last couple of years, have been putting material together and writing stuff together.
"This is the thing: there is no official thing that we're going to do a SAVATAGE album; there's nothing official. Because you know what? As soon as I say, 'Yeah, we're gonna do a new SAVATAGE album,' something will happen to fuck it up. And then I look like a liar. So all I'm gonna say is there are many surprises in the future.
"We don't know what's going to happen," he continued. "We're not sure. But we're writers; we write. And we have — dude, just me alone, I have enough songs for three SAVATAGE albums, okay? And so, yeah, we write because we like working together. And because of the pandemic and stuff, a lot of the stuff that we've been just fiddling around with each other, we've done it over the phone and over the Internet: 'Here, I've got this. What do you think?' 'Oh, I love it.' And I'll send Al something over the phone. He'll send me something. Caffery will send me something or I'll send him something. Because you don't know.
"The world today is different, and I don't want to say to people, 'Hey, we're gonna do a new SAVATAGE album,' and have something come along to fuck it all up.
"No one knew that this COVID-19 shit was gonna happen. And who knows? Yeah, there's the vaccine now, but they're already saying, 'Oh, there's different strands of it now,' and, 'Who knows?', and this and that and blah blah blah blah."
Oliva went on to say that he and his SAVATAGE bandmates "would all love" to make a new studio album. "But there's no deal with a record company to do it," he explained. "There's no plan — actual plan — saying we're gonna start recording SAVATAGE. There's no plan like that. All we're doing, as being musicians and songwriters, is we're compiling new material. So if we do get, 'Hey, why don't you guys do this? We've got a company that wants to give you guys [a deal], we're gonna be prepared.
"A lot of the fans, which it makes me upset, because SAVATAGE fans, I love them so much, because they have never, ever turned their backs on SAVATAGE — ever. And I just don't want to lead them down a road of false shit," he added. "If something happens where we say, 'Okay, we're ready to do this. Let's do it, guys,' I will be the first person to make a professional press release to tell everybody. But I just don't want to, because it's not solidified in stone right now. Do we wanna do it? You bet your fucking ass we wanna do it. But do we have the material for it? You bet your fucking ass we have enough material for another 10-year run. But all I can say is if we do a SAVATAGE thing, it's gonna fuck you people up — it's gonna be fucking blowaway."
This past March, Oliva revealed to "80's Glam Metalcast" that he battled COVID-19 for two months last year. "I had it for eight weeks, and I wouldn't have wished it on my worst enemy in the world," he said. "I would not have wished it on anybody. It was brutal — it really was. It sucked. But I'm okay now. And I'm gonna be getting my vaccination here in the next week or so. And that's it. So I lived through it. [Laughs] They don't want me in Heaven. Christ doesn't me up there because the first thing I'm doing when I get to Heaven is I'm punching Paul O'Neill [late TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA founder and SAVATAGE collaborator] and Criss Oliva [late SAVATAGE guitarist and Jon's brother] in the face."
Back in 2016, Jon announced on social media that he suffered a stroke in April of that year. At the time, he said: "It was not as serious as it could have been, but it did leave me with some physical recovery challenges often associated with strokes."
Despite his health issues, Jon said that he didn't regret the way he had lived his life. He wrote: "I lived the rock 'n' roll lifestyle since I was 18. It's all I knew and I enjoyed the ride very much. But there comes a time in everyone's life where you have to step back and make some life-changing decisions...which I have."
Shortly after SAVATAGE's reunion performance at the 2015 Wacken Open Air festival in Wacken, Germany, Oliva claimed that he felt better than he had in 20 years because he had "stopped drinking and eating" in preparation for the concert. He explained: "It's my voice that's freaking me out, because, even when I was in my late 20s, early 30s, doing songs like '24 Hours Ago' were always really hard to do. And, of course, I didn't realize that it was all the drugs and alcohol I was doing. But, after doing that, getting my act together and stuff, singing '24 Hours Ago', it's actually easy now. [Laughs]"
SAVATAGE's last album release, "Poets And Madmen", in 2001 was highlighted by Jon Oliva's return as lead vocalist, replacing Zak Stevens, who left the band citing family reasons, and the departure of Al Pitrelli, who accepted an offer to join MEGADETH in 2000. Pitrelli did record solos for some songs prior to his departure. Another very limited U.S. tour followed, supported by FATES WARNING in the early shows, and then NEVERMORE for the remainder. Around this time, Jon chose Zak's replacement in the form of Damond Jiniya (DIET OF WORMS). Damond performed Zak's parts on tour, with Jon having an increased vocal role in proceedings.

ALCATRAZZ Release Promo Trailer For Upcoming New AlbumAlcatrazz has released a promo trailer for their upcoming new album due fall 2021, along with the following statement:
"We are very excited to reveal more and more music as our release date gets closer, for now here is a taste of samples from five songs from the new record.
As you can hear we are keeping this close to the original neo-classical metal sound of the first Alcatrazz album.
Doogie (White, vocalist) has been a major contributor to the song writing and we feel this is maybe our best and most cohesive record yet, a band that is finally all on the same page and doing this for the right reasons... this is not simply a means to an end situation but a band of people who genuinely love this music.
Furthermore we are excited to get out there live with the freedom of knowing that come showtime we are relying on nothing but the talents of the five members of the band."
Alcatrazz, the Los Angeles-based iconic heavy metal band, has released its new single, “Turn Of The Wheel”, via Silver Lining Music. The song is available now on all digital platforms here. The video for the song can be viewed below.
The new album featuring original members Jimmy Waldo and Gary Shea, along with new vocalist Doogie White, drummer Mark Benquechea, and guitarist Joe Stump will be released in the fall of 2021. Pre-order will begin on July 23.
"'Turn Of The Wheel’ was the first song we wrote together,” states vocalist Doogie White. “When I heard the riff and the groove, I thought HERE WE GO! From that moment, it was all hands on deck to do the best album we could. ‘Turn Of The Wheel,’ as a complete RAWK tune works brilliantly.”
Doogie continues, “We spend so much time wondering about how the mistakes we made yesterday could be made better tomorrow that we forget about today. Today is what we have. Yesterday is gone, and we may not have tomorrow."
Formed in 1983, Alcatrazz became famous for its blend of melodic and progressive rock and for introducing guitar hero’s Yngwie J. Malmsteen and Steve Vai. Emerging in 1983 with No Parole From Rock 'n’ Roll, which featured the hit “Island In The Sun,” the band continued building popularity in 1985 with their sophomore effort, Disturbing The Peace, which contained the hit, “God Blessed Video”.The band issued one more studio LP, 1986’s Dangerous Games, before ceasing operations the following year. The band regrouped and released Born Innocent in 2020, their first studio album containing all-new material since 1986.
Alcatrazz released the following statement in regards to 2021: "We are extremely happy that our good friend Doogie White will be our singer for the 2021 Alcatrazz tour dates. We are all fans of Doogie's voice and impressive catalog of music. We promise an explosive live show of the Alcatrazz classics that you know, plus some added selections from Doogie's work with Rainbow and Michael Schenker. We might even have a couple of new songs for you as well! We look forward to seeing all our fans and friends in what we hope is a much-needed return to live music next year! See you all soon...Be safe!" - Jimmy Waldo, Joe Stump, Gary Shea & Mark Benquechea
Alcatrazz is:
Jimmy Waldo - Keyboards
Gary Shea - Bass

CRADLE OF FILTH Bassist DANIEL FIRTH Films Playthrough Video For IRON MAIDEN's "Infinite Dreams""My next playthrough video has just dropped, and this time I decided to do a cover of my very favourite band," says Cradle Of Filth bassist Daniel Firth. "Of course, that's Iron Maiden, and the song is 'Infinite Dreams'. I'm probably opening myself up to a lot of criticism by playing this with a pick, but I hope you like my interpretation in any case. Up the Irons!"
"Infinite Dreams" originally appeared on Iron Maiden's 1988 album, Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son.
