GENERATION LANDSLIDE Releases “Love And Pain” Single / Video

Las Vegas melodic hard rockers Generation Landslide have released the video for “Love And Pain”, the third single from their debut album, Ruling The Street Scene.

The quartet's debut album, Ruling The Street Scene, was produced by the band's frontman, Anthony White and recorded at The Tone Factory in Las Vegas, NV. The album is a whirlwind of '80s and early '90s influenced melodic rock, complete with ocean wide hooks, sing-a-long choruses and a "feel good" vibe that continues throughout the entire album.

DEVILDRIVER To Release New Album, 'Dealing With Demons Vol. II', In May

DEVILDRIVER To Release New Album, 'Dealing With Demons Vol. II', In May

As the world was upended in 2020, California groove metallers DEVILDRIVER didn't pause, releasing the acclaimed first installment of their two-part "Dealing With Demons" saga, "Dealing With Demons I". Now, as society emerges more hardened and determined than before, so does DEVILDRIVER's tenth full-length, "Dealing With Demons Vol. II".

Once again produced and engineered by Steve Evetts with additional engineering from guitarist Mike Spreitzer, "Dealing With Demons Vol. II" is inarguably heavier and relentlessly harsher than its predecessor. The new album represents not only the most vicious of the two records, but also the darkest recesses of celebrated frontman Dez Fafara's psyche and the final purging of his demons that have long haunted the band's music.

The first example of this new onslaught can be experienced today via the band's unrelenting first single from "Dealing With Demons Vol. II", titled "Through The Depths". The undeniably grim burner features black metal-esque passages, deft guitar work and menacing lyricism — proving the evolution of DEVILDRIVER in this new decade. The track is accompanied by a "demonic" new official music video sure to get your head banging!

Fafara says about "Through The Depths": "'Through The Depths' is a conversation between a higher power and humans regarding the power of thinking ideas into existence, but being very careful of being arrogant behind those wants and needs. The first lines give this away: 'Attention attention, you're seeking, you've asked for, it's given' (the higher power says). Then the lines of the chorus are that same higher power speaking to humans, saying: 'through the depths to the ascension, nothing you wouldn't do for my attention, held to the fire it's not my crime, you've pinned it on me for the last time.' Meaning - don't blame the Gods (pin it on them) for your fuck ups. Meaning - put it out there and take steps to attain goals and take accountability. This track is the essence of 'Dealing With Demons Vol. II', and the conversations within the record get way deeper than even this."

International media mainstays like Revolver, Metal Hammer, Kerrang! and Consequence lauded "Dealing With Demons I", which debuted at No. 4 on the U.S. Current Hard Music Albums chart. BLABBERMOUTH.NET stated, "If the second half of this mammoth endeavor matches the first, this will be remembered as a pivotal moment in the DEVILDRIVER story." Rest assured, "Dealing With Demons Vol. II" doubles down on the brutality — and then some!

Track one "I Have No Pity" instantly keeps fans guessing with its contrasting, marching rhythmic groove and Fafara's icy, earworm warnings. The album's standout production immediately shines, with the track's thick riffs, haunting leads, room-filling drums and Fafara's vocal prowess leading the way. Eerie, insistent "Mantra" drops a wave of melodic aggression on the listener, instantly inducing headbanging with its breakneck pace and occult lyricism. Dynamic tracks like "Nothing Lasts Forever" and "Summoning" cascade with alternating passages of sinister riffage and memorable chants. "Bloodbath" is as brutal as its name suggests, ominously bending and pummeling with immediate aggression, as "It's A Hard Truth" continues the onslaught, cautioning against delusion amid balanced melodic leads. Closer anthems "If Blood Is Life" and "This Relationship, Broken" are the blood-soaked cherries atop "Dealing With Demons Vol. II", bringing together all of the elements that make DEVILDRIVER the best at their craft.

Fafara adds: "'Dealing With Demons Vol. II' is — simply put — a conversation in its entirety about dealing with 'inner' demons. It's a conversation in song form between 'self and a power apart from one's self, and trying to bury old entities.'"

"Dealing With Demons Vol. II" track listing:

01. I Have No Pity
02. Mantra
03. Nothing Lasts Forever
04. Summoning
05. Through The Depths
06. Bloodbath
07. It's A Hard Truth
08. If Blood Is Life
09. This Relationship, Broken

Last December, DEVILDRIVER parted ways with drummer Austin D'Amond and replaced him with Davier Pérez.

D'Amond joined DEVILDRIVER in 2015 as the replacement for original drummer John Boecklin.

In July 2022, DEVILDRIVER announced the return of original bassist Jon Miller after more than a decade-long absence from the scene. In addition to epic reunion, DEVILDRIVER added guitarist Alex Lee (HOLY GRAIL) to the lineup, replacing Neal Tiemann.

Ibarra joined DEVILDRIVER in 2016 as the replacement for former BURY YOUR DEAD guitarist Chris Towning, who appeared on the Fafara-fronted band's 2013 album "Winter Kills".

In October 2021, DEVILDRIVER parted ways with Tiemann. Neal, formerly of BURN HALO, joined the band in 2015 as the replacement for Jeff Kendrick, who left DEVILDRIVER in October 2014.

ACCEPT's MARK TORNILLO On Possible Solo Album: 'It's Definitely In The Back Of My Mind'

ACCEPT's MARK TORNILLO On Possible Solo Album: 'It's Definitely In The Back Of My Mind'

In a new interview with Finland's Sysi Media, ACCEPT singer Mark Tornillo was asked if he has ever given any consideration to making a solo album. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Yeah, I've tossed it around a bunch of times. I have so much material that I could do, to put on it, from the last 30, 40 years that never got released. Whether it's relevant at this point, I don't know. I can always write new [songs] too. I don't know. It's definitely in the back of my mind."

The 68-year-old Tornillo, who joined ACCEPT in 2009 as the replacement for the band's original lead singer, Udo Dirkscheider, continued: "I've been a union electrician for the last 25 years, so I'm probably gonna retire now. And if I do that, that frees up some time. So I might just do it. We'll see what happens. I'll keep you posted."

Last October, Tornillo told The Aquarian Weekly that "the opportunity to do this again is amazing. Before ACCEPT I was, for all intents and purposes, retired as a musician," he said. "I played with the EDGAR CAYSE BAND for a while. T.T. QUICK would do a reunion show once in a while, but that was it. I'm just grateful to be able to do this on this level at this age. God, I'm 68 years old. It's insane. It's a gift from God."

Tornillo can be heard on ACCEPT's last five studio albums: "Blood Of The Nations" (2010),"Stalingrad" (2012),"Blind Rage" (2014),"The Rise Of Chaos" (2017) and "Too Mean To Die" (2021).

In a 2018 interview with Metal Shock Finland, Tornillo stated about what it was like to first join ACCEPT: "It was frightening. When we first announced what was going to happen, there was really not many people on board with it. Online, there was a lot of naysayers, a lot of badmouthing. It was very disheartening. We all sat down and said, 'Look, we have to make an amazing record, or else we're gonna die here. This is going to be a swansong. We have to make an amazing record.' And that's what we did. We spent a lot of time writing 'Blood Of The Nations' and a lot of time recording it, and I think in retrospect, it paid off. If that album wasn't what it was, we wouldn't be here."

Asked about fans who have yet to "accept" him, Mark said: "Everybody is entitled to their opinion. I'm a purist too with certain things. I get it. But I think we've moved on. We're almost a different band at this point. We really are a different band at this point. We still pay tribute to the old ACCEPT by playing the old songs — I mean, we have the two people that wrote most of the songs, [so] we have to. That's always going to be part of ACCEPT's history. You can't change it. All we can change is the future. But everyone's entitled to their opinion, and I get it. I wish them all well, and I wish Udo well, and his band, you know. No hard feelings on my part, that's for sure."

Former IRON MAIDEN Guitarist DENNIS STRATTON Is 'Very Proud' And 'Honored' To Be Part Of Band's Classic Debut Album

Former IRON MAIDEN Guitarist DENNIS STRATTON Is 'Very Proud' And 'Honored' To Be Part Of Band's Classic Debut Album

In a new interview with Brazil's Rock Mania, former IRON MAIDEN guitarist Dennis Stratton was asked about his memories of the making of the band's classic debut album, 1980's "Iron Maiden". He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "It was recorded very quickly. There was not a lot of thought that went into pre-production, because all the songs were already written. All they needed doing was the guitars added and then work out what we were gonna do between me and Dave [Murray, MAIDEN guitarist] to make the songs bigger and work on the harmony guitars and who's doing solos. And that was easy. But the album was recorded very quickly. Whether people like it or not, the production [was handled by] Wil Malone. Me personally, it's amazing because I feel so honored that I was part of that epic album. But at the time, 'cause we were very young and it was done very quickly, you didn't expect it to do what it did. Forty-odd years later, it's still amazing. It's such an honor to be part of that, and it always will be, 'cause it's stood the test of time. I'm just very proud to be part of it."

Asked to name his "best memories" from his time with MAIDEN, Dennis said: "Well, just the touring — the fans. Wherever we went on the KISS tour, JUDAS PRIEST tour, we were just astounded by the amount of support for this band that's only been together six, nine months. We had a big fanbase no matter where we went. But being away with KISS for all them big shows, it reminded me of being away with STATUS QUO back in the '70s, but being on tour with KISS with all the fans and the crowds and the big stadiums, yeah, [it was] unbelievable. Just seeing all the IRON MAIDEN shirts as you're driving up to a football stadium and you look out the window of the car or the bus or the coach or whatever, and you see all these IRON MAIDEN t-shirts, you go… We were a support band, so that was lovely."

As previously reported, IRON MAIDEN is among the nominees for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame's Class Of 2023.

According to the Hall Of Fame, the IRON MAIDEN members that would get inducted include the current lineup of singer Bruce Dickinson, bassist Steve Harris, drummer Nicko McBrain, and guitarists Adrian Smith, Dave Murray and Janick Gers, along with Stratton, former singer Paul Di'Anno and former drummer Clive Burr.

Two years ago, when MAIDEN was nominated for the first time, Stratton told the "Uncle Steve's Iron Maiden Zone" podcast that he was "a bit shocked" by the exclusion from the nomination of the band's former singer Blaze Bayley, who fronted MAIDEN from 1994 until 1999 and appeared on two albums, "The X Factor" and "Virtual XI". "It was weird. Why? Why wasn't he?" he said. "Now, I know for a fact he was with them for five years and two albums, and he contributed a hell of a lot to them two albums. But people told me that it's something to do with the committee that run this Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. It has to be certain years, involved with so many years. So I don't actually know. Someone would have to read the rules to me. But I definitely think it's heartbreaking not to be included."

Stratton went on to say that for him to be nominated for the Rock Hall is "one of the biggest honors" of his career. He added: "Now, I didn't know Bruce had said anything [negative] about the Hall Of Fame. Someone told me that he had said a few things about the Hall Of Fame. I don't know what he said. But I know that he said something. Now, personally for me, I was blowing my own trumpet, saying, 'Please vote.' 'Cause this is a big honor for me; it means the world to me. But I'm not speaking for the band; this is me personally. Now, if the band and the management don't fancy it or it's not their scene and they're not interested, then so be it. You have to respect the band or the management's decision."

Stratton was a member of MAIDEN for less than a year, but he nonetheless made a vital contribution to the band's classic first album.

TRIVIUM's MATT HEAFY Earns Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt At 37 Years Old

TRIVIUM's MATT HEAFY Earns Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt At 37 Years Old

TRIVIUM frontman Matt Heafy, who has been training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu for a decade, has hit a major milestone in the martial art by being awarded his black belt.

The 37-year-old musician was promoted to the new rank more than two years after earning his brown belt. He was promoted by Gustavo "Gutty" Muggiati, who leads Gracie Barra North Orlando in Heafy's hometown of Orlando, Florida.

On Saturday (March 4),Heafy shared a photo of him with Muggiati, and he wrote in an accompanying message: "03-13-13 was the first day for me in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. BJJ did not come easy for me… in fact - it was one of the most difficult undertakings I'd ever started in my life. For the first year - I wanted to quit - but despite that. I'd go 5+ days a week - multiple hours a day. It didn't make sense for the first 3 years. I didn't retain what I needed to for the first 5 years. But still - I stuck with it and put in the time. Year 6/7 - it started to make sense. Year 8/9 - I felt I started finding my groove (finally). Year 10. The black belt is not the end. It's the beginning.

"Thank you to every person I've ever trained with, learned from, lost to; my family and friends for their support; my teammates; my academy… but most importantly: my professor Gutty. Gutty, you changed my life; you've made every one of your students' lives better.

"Here's to the next 10 years.

"My advice to all of you. Start BJJ. Now."

Heafy also shared a video of him being hit on his back with belts — once by each of his fellow practitioners — as he walked past ("faixada" in Portuguese). Advocates for the custom argue that "running the gauntlet" serves as a method of team building and reinforces camaraderie between classmates.

Back in 2016, Heafy told HardDrive Radio that jiu-jitsu had "become the biggest part of my life outside of music. Music is probably first, then jiu-jitsu," he said. "That's why I've gotten so intense with my practice schedule — I've had to learn something from the ground up.

"I remember the first time I ever grappled or sparred or fought. I was against someone who was probably 60 or 70 pounds lighter than me who was 17 years old. I thought, 'I got this.' And he choked me out in 20 seconds. I was like, 'All right, I don't know anything about this at all.' And I love that. I like things that are humbling.

"I like the fact that my entire life, I've been playing guitar and singing in TRIVIUM. I joined the band when I was 12, so to pick something up new that I didn't understand that was frustrating, weird, and difficult, and seemed impossible, and still seems impossible some days, it was a metaphor for life, learning jiu-jitsu. It's about learning about yourself, the habits you have, and what you like. And how you learn; I've learned that I'm a slow learner."

Watch VIO-LENCE's New Touring Lineup Perform In Bangkok

Watch VIO-LENCE's New Touring Lineup Perform In Bangkok

Fan-filmed video of VIO-LENCE's March 4 concert at Lido Connect in Bangkok, Thailand can be seen below.

VIO-LENCE's current touring lineup consists of vocalist Sean Killian, drummer Adrian Aguilar (EXMORTUS),guitarist Miles Dimitri Baker (VOIDBRINGER, INTERLOPER, ex-RINGS OF SATURN),bassist Christian Olde Wolbers and guitarist Ira Black (VICIOUS RUMORS, HEATHEN, METAL CHURCH).

In a new interview with Australia's Subculture Entertainment, Sean was asked if there are plans for him and his bandmates to record a new full-length album. He replied: "Yeah, for sure. We started working on some stuff, and then Phil [Demmel, VIO-LENCE's founding guitarist], he got a lot of great opportunities for himself — going out with LAMB OF GOD [as a touring guitarist] and doing some other awesome, great things. So that kind of paused [the songwriting process]… Phil's got a lot going on, not just with music, but his family and Marta, his wife, is in BLEEDING THROUGH and they do stuff, and they own a business.

"My friendship with Phil is more important than music," Killian explained. "Together we write great. But I wanna add — Christian is a great writer. We've got Miles Dimitri Baker in the band; he's another great creative brain. I wanna put some stuff together and release… I'd like to release a full-length record, but it's kind of hard these days 'cause it takes… You don't wanna do so many songs that you just start kind of creating songs that are just there to fill space. I never wanna do that, and neither does Phil or anyone else in this band. So the EP format is great for us. We can really focus and create tracks that we feel really positive about instead of trying to make 12 songs all at once: 'Well, this we were gonna use on that song, but we need to fill space, so let's use it on this song.' I never wanna be in that position. And I know a lot of bands these days, doing 12-song records has gotta be difficult. And trying to produce them every other years has gotta be a challenge. I want the challenge to be not 'Do we fill space?' or 'Can we get 12 songs?'; I want the challenge to be 'Is this the best shit that we can put out?' And that five-song format really kind of is a good format for us to try to achieve that."

VIO-LENCE played its first show with Aguilar at the Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, California. Aguilar joined VIO-LENCE following the departure of Perry Strickland.

Demmel is sitting out the group's shows in Asia, Australia and New Zealand this month and is being replaced by Baker.

Notably, VIO-LENCE's shows in Asia, Australia and New Zealand feature only Killian from the lineup that played its first comeback gig in April 2019 at the Oakland Metro in Oakland, California. The VIO-LENCE lineup that appeared at the Metro consisted of Killian, Demmel, Strickland, bassist Deen Dell and guitarist Ray Vegas.

Strickland announced his departure from VIO-LENCE last month by sharing a video of him performing with the band and captioning it: "I'll Miss playing these songs !" After one fan asked Perry in the comments to clarify whether he has in fact exited the group, Strickland responded: "yes about a month ago".

Among the people reacting to Strickland's announcement was former OVERKILL and VIO-LENCE guitarist Bobby Gustafson, who wrote: "Good luck with what ever you do in the future. We had some good times finally."

On February 26, Demmel addressed VIO-LENCE's future in an Instagram Live video, saying it was "kind of weird playing these shows" with "a bunch of fill-ins and me and Sean." He added that while Adrian is "awesome" and the Whisky gig "was packed", he is "just kind of really torn right now in the sense of what VIO-LENCE is and what it's gonna be and what my role is gonna be in that and how I feel about that." Demmel went on to say that he told Killian he "wanted to shut [VIO-LENCE] down," but then he realized "that to ask that of those dudes to not do it anymore is selfish on my part."

Demmel also confirmed that he will perform with VIO-LENCE at the Hell's Heroes V preparty on March 23 in Houston, Texas and at the Milwaukee Metal Fest in late May in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, but revealed that he will likely scale down his live appearances with the band, to the point where he will no longer play any live shows with the group.

In March 2022, VIO-LENCE released a new EP, "Let The World Burn", via Metal Blade Records. The five-song collection, VIO-LENCE's first original release since 1993's "Nothing To Gain", was tracked at Trident Studios in Pacheco, California by Juan Urteaga (MACHINE HEAD, EXODUS),mixed by Tue Madsen (DARK TRANQUILLITY, HEAVEN SHALL BURN) and mastered by Ted Jensen (ALICE IN CHAINS, DEATH ANGEL).

Formed in 1985, VIO-LENCE helped define and refine what came to be known as the Bay Area sound, dropping three seminal albums before splitting in 1993. Leaving behind a heady legacy, they reformed briefly a couple of times in the intervening years before becoming a full-time going concern once more in 2019. After playing a string of successful shows, the quintet started to think about new music and delivered "Let The World Burn", showcasing their first new material in 29 years.

VIO-LENCE's recording lineup on "Let The World Burn" consisted of Gustafson, Demmel, Killian and Strickland along with Olde Wolbers.

VIO-LENCE reunited soon after Demmel left MACHINE HEAD in late 2018.

Demmel was in MACHINE HEAD for nearly 16 years, during which time he played on five of the group's studio albums: "Through The Ashes Of Empires" (2003),"The Blackening" (2007),"Unto The Locust" (2011),"Bloodstone & Diamonds" (2014) and "Catharsis" (2018).

VIO-LENCE played its first show with Black in August 2022 at the Brutal Assault festival in Jaromer, Czech Republic.

Black, who grew up in the Bay Area and previously played with VICIOUS RUMORS, HEATHEN and METAL CHURCH, filled in for Demmel, who was on the road at the time with LAMB OF GOD as the temporary replacement for Willie Adler.

Although MACHINE HEAD frontman Robb Flynn was part of VIO-LENCE's classic incarnation and played on the band's debut album, "Eternal Nightmare", he wasn't approached about taking part in the band's reunion.

Nita, who spent eight years playing with Alice before joining Demi's band, was asked in an interview with Metal Injection if it was a "nerve-racking" experience telling the legendary rocker that she wanted to step back from performing with him. The guitarist responded: "I wouldn't even say nerve-racking, because… I mean, it was a big decision, of course, but it definitely wasn't as dramatic as it has seemed online, if that makes sense. We had just started the U.K. tour when I got the offer to come and play with Demi. And I just went into Coop's room — I went to his hotel room and I talked with him and his wife. And I said, 'Look, I have this opportunity.' He asked, 'Would it conflict with anything on this tour?' I said, 'No, but it would conflict with the fall dates, so I'd have to step back from the fall tour.' And he said, 'Go and do it.' He gave his blessing. He gave me a big hug and said, 'Go and have fun. Shine your light, and let us know what next year looks like and we'll work it out.' So it was a lovely and loving conversation — no big blowup; no drama; no one got fired; no one stormed out. And I took a step back and I'm trying something different. And we'll see what happens in the future."

According to Nita, "it didn't help" that the news of her joining Demi's touring band "got leaked before anybody had a chance to really say anything. I don't really know how that news got out, 'cause it was all pretty close to the vest," she said. "But somebody found out, somebody decided to put it out before anybody really could make a proper statement about it, and I think that's how these things get twisted around into something that it's not.

"We had a — Alice literally called it a 'hiatus dinner,'" Nita added. "One of our last shows in Greece, we had a couple of days off, and we had a big 'hiatus dinner' and we all laughed and cried and hugged and they gave me a little parting gift. And if that was the last show at the end of the tour, it'll be okay. But there was no big dramatic exit that people were speculating. And now that I'm clearing it up, there is also no backtracking. [Laughs] I think people just love to speculate without really knowing the actual workings of what's going on."

Nita played her first full live show with Demi on August 13, 2022 at the Grandstand at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield, Illinois.

Nita made her live debut with Demi on July 14, 2022 with a performance of "Substance" on ABC's Emmy Award-winning late-night show "Jimmy Kimmel Live!".

Strauss had been playing with Cooper since 2014 when she replaced Australian musician and former Michael Jackson player Orianthi. She joined Alice in time for a mammoth MÖTLEY CRÜE tour. She was recommended to Cooper by the legendary rocker's former bass player and WINGER frontman Kip Winger.

COREY TAYLOR Promises His New Solo LP Will Be 'The Best Rock Album Of This Year, And The Next'

COREY TAYLOR Promises His New Solo LP Will Be 'The Best Rock Album Of This Year, And The Next'

SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor spoke to NME about his recently completed second solo album, "CMF2".

Taylor began tracking the follow-up to 2020's "CMFT" LP in early January at The Hideout Recording Studio in Las Vegas, Nevada with longtime producer Jay Ruston, who has previously worked with STEEL PANTHER and ANTHRAX, among others. Joining Corey in the studio was the rest of his solo band — bassist Eliot Lorango, drummer Dustin Robert, along with guitarists Christian Martucci and Zach Throne.

Promising to NME that "CMF2" is "going to be the best rock album of this year, and the next," Corey added: "I can't wait for people to hear this album. It chews up that first record and spits it out. It's more dialed in with everything people expect from me, so it's got hints of 'CMFT' but there are also hints of SLIPKNOT, STONE SOUR and all the stuff I've done in my acoustic shows. It's got everything for everybody. People are going to fucking lose it."

Twenty-six songs were recorded for "CMF2", including first single "Beyond", which could arrive in May, with the full-length LP tentatively due in September.

"Some fans will recognize a few [of the tracks] from other projects that I've done while others were written just before we went into the studio," he said.

"I was really inspired by my band, but also the reaction that the first solo run had, where people leaned into everything," he continued. "They liked the acoustic stuff, they liked the heavy stuff, they liked the fun stuff. We wanted to make a hybrid thing, but not have it feel chaotic."

Corey went on to say that there will "absolutely" be many more solo albums to come.

"It's almost a weird peace I've found myself in," he explained. "For the longest time, I always felt very comfortable in a band situation. A lot of the time, people look to you as the de facto leader but maybe you're not necessarily the one who's making the decisions. It can also be a lethargic process trying to get people on the same page."

He added: "With this, it's so gratifying. It's so much fun recording, but it's also been played by dudes who know what the fuck they're doing and love the music. It's a cool vibe. It's a fun vibe. I think people can see that camaraderie. This project has definitely reignited my love for playing music. It's kind of showing me what my future is going to be, for better or for worse."

In February 2022, Corey released a solo album of covers and acoustic recordings, titled "CMFB…Sides", via Roadrunner Records. The collection comprised nine previously unreleased B-sides, covers of tunes that inspired Taylor, acoustic renditions, and live versions.

"CMFT" made impressive debuts on charts around the world, entering at No. 1 on Billboard's Current Hard Rock Albums chart, while claiming No. 2 on Current Rock Albums, No. 6 on Vinyl Albums, and No. 9 on the Top Albums charts. Furthermore, "CMFT" landed Top 10 on the official album charts in Australia, Germany, Switzerland and Austria, with Top 20 debuts in the United Kingdom, Finland and Japan (international chart).

BUSH's GAVIN ROSSDALE Was 'In Shock' After Supreme Court Overturned Roe V. Wade: 'I Felt Protective Of The Women'

BUSH's GAVIN ROSSDALE Was 'In Shock' After Supreme Court Overturned Roe V. Wade: 'I Felt Protective Of The Women'

BUSH frontman Gavin Rossdale spoke to Q104.3's "Out Of The Box With Jonathan Clarke" about the lyrical inspiration for the band's "More Than Machines" single. The song, which alludes to the Supreme Court's overturning of Roe v. Wade, along with two other "really big topics", appears on BUSH's latest studio album, "The Art Of Survival", which arrived last October.

Rossdale said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Well, it was one of the last songs we wrote for the record. And weirdly, before that song was done, the whole Roe v. Wade issue had arisen. And I was just in shock. I really felt it — I felt the invasion, and I felt protective of the women who were now being told, dictated to about their bodies. I couldn't connect to it. Maybe I'm English, maybe I'm too libertarian… I just was, like, 'What is that?' It was like a thorn in my shoe."

He continued: "You hand a record in [to your label], and they always say, 'Give us a couple of more songs.' It's just this dance — a label dance. And it's a smart dance, but it's hard for the songwriter, 'cause you're basically saying to him, 'That was great. Thank you so much for this eight months of work. Could you work a little harder, a little longer and do something else, do something better?' But it gave me the opportunity to put that in there. And when that line came to me, 'Girls are in control, not the government,' I was so happy, because it gave meaning and value to being in a band.

"I'm not a soapbox person; I'm not a politically person overly like that. I'm very personally human-driven," Gavin added. "So to be able to suggest that and talk about that just felt like, 'Why isn't everyone else talking about this?' So that was a beautiful thing to be able to connect into the music."

Last September, Rossdale told Z93's "The Morning After" that it was "hard to fathom" that a fundamental right to an abortion" was still an issue. "I still find it very hard to relate to it," he said. "[It's] very invasive. I wanted to put it in a song, but it's also really tricky. I'm not here to tell people what to think. I'm not a preacher. I don't claim to know more than you. I'm just living my life, trying to get by, having a good time and being good to my kids. It's my life — it's my music and my kids. But I want my kids to know that we should respect women and we should respect their rights. It sounds ridiculous even saying it, doesn't it? So I'm very proud of having it in there. It's just sort of an elevating topic in a modern song. And then people take it where they wanna go. And now it's been politicized. It really is the divide of the whole country. It's being seen as, if anything, ironically… And not to be political, 'cause I have no interest in that, but it's almost… I hope that it's the biggest destabilizer. What was meant to be the most forthright draconian control of women has turned into a very destabilizing issue."

Rossdale previously talked about "More Than Machines" in an August 2022 interview with Pablo of the Minneapolis, Minnesota radio station 93X. He said: "It's very difficult to find that balance between what you read about and how to put it into words in a song, what's important. And I've always found personalizing things makes it the easiest way; you're not sort of standing up pointing the finger at someone, not standing up taking sides."

Referring directly to the U.S. Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade, ending the constitutional right to an abortion, Rossdale said: "To me, it's an obvious thing. It seems [like] a medieval step in the wrong direction and it doesn't make sense — to me. And so I just put it in a song. And it just sparks conversation. And my job as a lyricist is to just kind of capture the time, to capture the zeitgeist or the feeling or the emotion. That's what [my] songs are, from the beginning to now. They're sort of commentaries on what's going on around me that other people relate to.

"Once I've written a song, I don't even like saying what the song is necessarily about," Gavin explained. "'Girls are in control, not the government' seems pretty straight-forward. But just 'girls are in control' is a powerful statement. I love that. And it would be a better world if women were in power.

"I think there's a lack of erosion of the evil that we're seeing. There's not many Russian women involved in the invasion of Ukraine, as far as I can tell. A lot of guys think it's a good idea. A lot of dudes. I haven't seen any women saying, 'This is great.'

"My point is that I'm not better than anybody; I don't know more than anybody," Rossdale added. "These things I read about every day and it sort of filters into my job. That's where I do my work, and I think it provides substance for people to sing about their broken hearts or broken lives and other things that are going on outside.

"We are destroying the planet, destroying it, and nobody seems to care. So all the time you've gotta keep doing these songs to just keep the conversation going."

BUSH wrote and recorded what would become "The Art Of Survival" during 2022, reteaming with Erik Ron (PANIC! AT THE DISCO, GODSMACK) who produced "Flowers On A Grave" and the title track for 2020's "The Kingdom", and collaborating once again on two tracks with film composer, musician, and producer Tyler Bates ("300", "Guardian Of The Galaxy"). The central theme speaks to both the human spirit's resiliency in the face of trials and tribulations as well as the band's own enduring place as rock outliers.

HALESTORM's LZZY HALE: 'I Made It My Mission To Be More Unapologetic About Myself'

HALESTORM's LZZY HALE: 'I Made It My Mission To Be More Unapologetic About Myself'

In a new interview with Japanese music critic and radio personality Masa Ito of TVK's "Rock City", HALESTORM vocalist/guitarist Lzzy Hale explained how 2022's "Back From The Dead" is both the band's both most personal and universal album to date. She said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Not just because of the pandemic, but I think that as I'm getting older and with each album, I made it my mission to be more unapologetic about myself, about the things that I go through and be very honest and truthful about my triumphs but also the darker sides of myself. Because the more that you give of yourself to the world and to other people, the more positivity that you actually get back from everybody. And I think that that's one of the most beautiful things about being a songwriter and being a lyricist is that you can kind of be a voice to the voiceless and you can be inadvertently there for someone, even if you don't know them and you've never met them. So this is, I guess, what I'm trying to put out into the world. It's very true and near and dear to my heart, and I'm just so glad that it can, even in a small way, help somebody else."

This past December, HALESTORM released a deluxe edition of "Back From The Dead". "Back From The Dead: Deluxe Edition" includes seven previously unreleased B-sides, including "Mine", a 1980s-inspired rocker. "Back From The Dead: Deluxe Edition" is available digitally, on CD, and cassette tape, marking the first time that the album has been offered in those physical formats.

Lzzy and her brother Arejay (drums) formed HALESTORM in 1998 while in middle school. Guitarist Joe Hottinger joined the group in 2003, followed by bassist Josh Smith in 2004.

In December 2018, HALESTORM was nominated for a "Best Rock Performance" Grammy Award for its song "Uncomfortable". Six years earlier, the band won its first Grammy in the category of "Best Hard Rock/ Metal Performance" for "Love Bites (So Do I)".

In a recent interview with Troy Culpan of May The Rock Be With You, Lzzy expressed her hope that she and her bandmates will have "a new record — kind of — set and figured out" by the end of 2023. And "maybe [even] done," Joe said, adding that "the gears are" turning with regard to writing the follow-up to "Back From The Dead".

Watch LITA FORD Perform At Legendary Whisky A Go Go

Watch LITA FORD Perform At Legendary Whisky A Go Go

The Brian James YouTube channel has uploaded video of Lita Ford's March 5 concert at the Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, California. Check out the clips below.

Last September, Lita spoke to "The Blairing Out With Eric Blair Show" about the status of her long-awaited new solo album. The follow-up to 2012's "Living Like A Runaway" was once again helmed by guitarist/producer Gary Hoey, who contributes some guitar playing to the disc, alongside the rest of Ford's longtime backing band, consisting of guitarist Patrick Kennison, drummer Bobby Rock and bassist Marty O'Brien.

Lita said: "We do have a new record, and it's not out yet; it's not released yet. And basically what I'm doing is putting together a team of people who can give the album what it's worth, which is a lot. So I'm hoping that I can put together that team for 2023 and we'll have a new record out the beginning of 2023. Fingers crossed."

In May 2022, bassist Marten Andersson (STEELHEART, LIZZY BORDEN, LYNCH MOB) officially joined Lita's touring band. Andersson replaced O'Brien who became the touring bassist for DAUGHTRY.

Lita said: "Marten brings to the stage a sound and high-energy dynamic style of bass guitar playing like a freight train hauling thunder through a hurricane."

Andersson added, "For those of you who haven't heard, Yessss I have indeed joined the Lita Ford band. I am super excited to join these awesome musicians and kind souls: Lita Ford, Patrick Kennison, Bobby Rock, and the great team around them."

He added: "My special thanks to my dear friend and long time Lita bass player Marty O'Brien for making this transition so easy and smooth. Good luck in DAUGHTRY brother. I will of course miss my STEELHEART bros (and all you Steeles out there) but I am planning to stay in your lives and I know STEELHEART will continue to slay without me and be better then ever."

Marty said: "Welcome to the Lita Ford family; Marten Andersson on the bass! Not only a fantastic bass player, but also a great guy and a dear friend of mine! #MartenRules."

In January 2021, Lita told SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk" that her new album contains "some of the best guitar playing" she has heard "in decades." She added: "And I'm not blowing smoke up my own ass, but Gary and I just nailed it with the guitar playing on this record.

"I'm a huge fan of people like Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter from Alice Cooper's 'Welcome To My Nightmare'. I mean, there's some really great duo guitar players — [JUDAS PRIEST's] Glenn Tipton, K.K. Downing… Those guitar players don't exist anymore — they just don't exist. If you wanna hear them, you have to go back in time a little bit and dig them up into your favorite library, favorite music catalog. But I think Gary and I really nailed it on this next record. It's, like, oh my God. I'm crying — I'm just, like, crying listening to this stuff. It's so badass."

Ford's last release was 2016's "Time Capsule", a collection of songs that were recorded by Lita in the past, but never before made available.

Seven years ago, Lita released an autobiography, "Living Like A Runaway: A Memoir", via Dey Street Books (formerly It Books),an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers.

TONIGHT!

British Glam Veterans WRATHCHILD Are Back With New Lineup

British Glam Veterans WRATHCHILD Are Back With New Lineup

ROCKY SHADES WRATHCHILD, which was founded by Rocky Shades, former lead vocalist of British glam veterans WRATHCHILD, will now be officially known as WRATHCHILD since the ownership of the much-disputed and controversial trademark and legacy has reportedly been returned to its co-creator and motormouth frontman.

According to a post on the ROCKY SHADES WRATHCHILD Facebook page, "The new WRATHCHILD is the five-piece band that should have been since day one and is considerably heavier than its older incarnation. The original members have either retired or turned their back on the genre that made them."

WRATHCHILD 2023 is:

Rocky Wrekkless Shades – Vocals
Gaz Wilde - Drums
Jonny Suicide - Bass
Oz Paul - Guitar
Bret Patrucci - Guitar

WRATHCHILD is in talks with a major American management company and a few interested record labels. In the meantime, the band will release a single called "Still Here In The Freak Show", with a music video to follow at a later date. The B-side of said single is a reworked rerecorded version of fan favorite "Trash Queen".

WRATHCHILD is currently rehearsing for live shows to come, but will play a couple of warm-up gigs to give the public a taste of the new sound:

March 11 - Hard Rock Hell - Great Yarmouth
April 08 - The Billsley Rock Club - Birmingham

There is even talk of including one of the WRATHCHILD tracks in an upcoming season of the "Peacemaker" TV show.

MR. BIG Announces 'The Big Finish' World Tour, Unveils New Touring Drummer

MR. BIG Announces 'The Big Finish' World Tour, Unveils New Touring Drummer

MR. BIG is putting on their signature top hats and old shoes one last time for a worldwide tour, aptly titled "The BIG Finish". Since the band's original drummer and co-founder, Pat Torpey, lost his battle with Parkinson's disease in 2018, the band now feels it's time to mark the end of this chapter of their legacy.

The first leg will take the band to Japan and Southeast Asia in July and August, while shows in South America, Europe, and the U.S. will launch in early 2024 and will be announced soon.

"We wanted to do a proper farewell, and this seems like the right way to do it," asserts bassist/vocalist Billy Sheehan. Notes guitarist/vocalist Paul Gilbert, "We're in the process of making sure we come up with a suitably big entertainment extravaganza to go along with our music. And since our music has resonated so wonderfully in places all over the world, we're going to play in as many of those places as we can." Submits lead vocalist Eric Martin, "If we were in the movie business, we'd just put it all up in lights and say, 'Welcome to 'The BIG Finish'!' Seriously, I'm glad we're getting a chance to do it all onstage together as MR. BIG again and raise a flag to everything we've done as a band over the years."

After 35 years of being addicted to that perpetually electrifying performance rush, the band feels it's finally time to collectively hang up their top hats and shoes after coming together for one final, extended curtain call — a curtain call that will take them on an all-out world tour commencing in 2023 that will go for as long as, well, as long as MR. BIG fans demand it.

Joining MR. BIG on drums for this special final world tour will be longtime friend of the band Nick D'Virgilio (SPOCK'S BEARD, BIG BIG TRAIN),stepping in for founding drummer/vocalist Pat Torpey, who sadly passed away in 2018 following his heroic battle with Parkinson's disease. "We found a wonderful drummer in Nick, and he's got a great voice too," confirms Sheehan. "Nick has a vocal range similar to Pat's, and he'll be able to do the parts Pat did with a similar finesse. It's a big relief because MR. BIG has always been heavy on the harmonies. When the band began, we really relied on each other. We knew each guy would do exactly what he needed to do vocally and to do it righteously, on key, and in time. It's difficult to find a drummer who sings in that range, but Nick has the voice we really need onstage."

Concurs Gilbert, "Nick gets close to the spirit of Pat Torpey. Billy, Eric, and I have been really happy with the music we've already shared back and forth. I'm impressed with Nick's level of musical adaptability and breadth of skill. He and I have done some recording together, and I was blown away with his groove, and how he just played what fit the song. If the song requires him to be more progressive and stand out, he will stand out. But if the song requires him to groove, he will groove. That's actually a rare thing, and it really fits in with what we do in MR. BIG." "I love the fact that Nick was a fan of Pat Torpey and wants to keep our BIG sound intact," says Eric. "When I first saw his audition demo video of the 'Lean Into It' song 'Lucky This Time', Nick was playing drums with those signature Pat snare hits and singing harmonies spot on to what Pat used to do. It gave me goosebumps!! I am so thrilled to have this man who will be filling some mighty BIG shoes join us on our last tour."

One particular aspect of this upcoming final run that MR. BIG are excited about to a man is the decision to perform the entirety of their breakthrough platinum-selling 1991 album "Lean Into It" from start to finish as a featured highlight of the live setlist. (To be sure, the full setlist will encompass MR. BIG's entire career.) Fact is, "Lean Into It" is the perfect litmus testament to the band's inherent dexterity at blending a variety of styles together, whether it's the heady rocking brew of "Green-Tinted Sixties Mind", the power-drilled and power-chorded identity checklist "Daddy, Brother, Lover, Little Boy", or the truly heartfelt sentiments found within "To Be With You", MR. BIG's chart-topping, worldwide #1 smash hit single.

For his part, Martin the songwriter remains eternally grateful for the never-ending success of "To Be With You", but the essence of MR. BIG goes much, much deeper than that. "That song helped put the stamps in our passports," Martin allows, "but we really nailed it on "Lean Into It". I'm still in awe of how Billy and Paul play on that album, because they're such brilliant players. I used to call them the dynamic duo. And Pat Torpey was an underrated drummer, in my opinion. I mean, just listen to his tone! 'Lean Into It' is totally indicative of who we are as a band."

Explains Sheehan, "'Lean Into It' was put together much like a movie, with an opening scene that lets us get into the dialogue and find out what the story is. And then you get the love scene, the car chase, and the punchline ending. I think it's a perfectly sequenced album." Observes Gilbert, "Some people thought we had brought in professional background singers to do all those harmonies on 'Lean Into It', but no, it's really us. We always felt like we had something to prove whenever we went on the road and did all that singing ourselves, just to show everyone that we really could do it."

Just like the consummate performers they are, MR. BIG still want to reach into your dreams. "I hope the people who come see our shows get to feel what it's like when musicians get together and really play and sing the songs they wrote," offers Sheehan. "We want the audience to be one with us, and feel our evening together was a magical and beautiful event." Theorizes Gilbert, "Music is like time travel. You can hear something that takes you right back to 1992, and it reminds you exactly of what was happening back then. On this tour, I want to give people the opportunity to time travel like that and go, 'These guys are on fire!' Good music is timeless."

Concludes Martin, "I love playing with these guys. And if I'm being honest, I don't want it to ever end. I'm the guy who just knows we still have that special spark together, and I always want to keep the torch burning. But if it really is the end, then I want us all to have a happy ending together. We're a great live band. I want everybody to come out and see us, because we want to blow you away and have you all think as you're leaving, 'MR. BIG really is the real thing.'"

Indeed, when it comes to harnessing the real thing that best represents the unyielding power of rock and roll, MR. BIG have truly got what it takes. Make sure to catch them before they bring down that final curtain, because when it's through, it's through. MR. BIG really do want to be with you at least one more time, and they'd be more than honored to see you, one and all, somewhere around the world.

BURTON C. BELL On FEAR FACTORY Touring With New Singer: 'It Doesn't Affect Me At All'

BURTON C. BELL On FEAR FACTORY Touring With New Singer: 'It Doesn't Affect Me At All'

In a new interview with Joshua Toomey of the "Talk Toomey" podcast, ex-FEAR FACTORY singer Burton C. Bell was asked how it felt to see his former group going out on tour with someone else singing the parts he originally wrote and recorded with the band. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "It doesn't affect me at all. To be honest, I haven't been this happy in a long time. More power to them, but I'm just moving forward in my own life, my own career, and I'm just trying to make a name for myself."

Asked if he has checked out any of the videos on YouTube of FEAR FACTORY performing with his replacement, the Italian-born singer Milo Silvestro, Bell said: "No, I don't. I don't care to."

Burton went on to say that he doesn't mind being asked about FEAR FACTORY despite the fact that he is no longer in the band. "FEAR FACTORY, it's what I'm known for," he explained. "And the 30 years I had with FEAR FACTORY were some of the proudest moments of my career. And everything I've ever done in FEAR FACTORY I'm very proud of. Even some of the questionable things I've done in FEAR FACTORY I'm still proud of. It was a great legacy."

During an April 2022 appearance on an episode of "The Ex-Man" podcast hosted by Doc Coyle (BAD WOLVES),Bell touched upon FEAR FACTORY's latest album, "Aggression Continuum", which was released in June 2021 via Nuclear Blast Records. The LP, which was recorded primarily in 2017, features Bell and fellow original FF member Dino Cazares (guitar) alongside drummer Mike Heller.

"I was just happy that record finally came out," Burton said. "We finished that record in 2017. By the time it came out, I'd forgotten all about it. 'Oh, yeah, I remember that song. Oh yeah.'

"There's some good songs on that record. The song 'Collapse' is a good song. The title track 'Monolith' is a good song," he added, referencing the LP's original working title, before it was changed by Cazares.

When Coyle noted that the mix on "Aggression Continuum" is "great," Bell hesitated for a couple of seconds before reluctantly agreeing. "I guess," he said. "When I finished the record [in 2017], the record was done and agreed upon and then further work was done without my say."

Elsewhere in the chat, Burton said admitted that "it was difficult" for him to leave FEAR FACTORY. "Stepping away from FEAR FACTORY was not an easy decision by [any] means," he said. "But what I experienced for the 10 years before that, the lawsuits, the acrimony, that was the one that killed me. And I just had to step away to realize, you know, they can take all this stuff from me — they can take the money, they can take the royalties, they can take the trademark away from me — and I realized that didn't define me. They can take that, but I'm still Burton C. Bell, motherfucker, and whatever I have they can't take. So I'm just kind of moving forward and doing new things."

According to Bell, hardship is par for the course for most musicians, who often find themselves victims of bad contracts, unscrupulous management and, all too often, what appears to be a penchant for self-destruction.

"I knew a long time ago I wanted to be an artist — way before I was in FEAR FACTORY," he said. "When I was in high school, I was, like, 'I wanna be an artist.' To be an artist, you've gotta suffer. You've gotta understand that people wanna take from you the entire time — what you create they wanna make money off of and take it away from you and just give you a pittance. But being bitter is not my style — never has been.

"Whatever negativity has happened in the past with FEAR FACTORY doesn't even hold up to the amount of positivity that has happened," he continued. "If you think about the negative, it can weigh you down so much, but it's not really that much in comparison to what the band achieved, what we created, what we provided to the music world, and for that I'm proud and very happy.

"No one likes to talk to a bitter person at all," Burton added. "Me for one. It's, like, 'Man, just get over it and just move on.' 'Cause holding on to the past doesn't serve me anything, it doesn't serve anybody else anything. Move on and show 'em what you can do from that point forward."

In September 2020, Bell issued a statement officially announcing his departure from FEAR FACTORY, saying that he "cannot align" himself with someone whom he does not trust or respect.

Bell's exit from FEAR FACTORY came more than two weeks after Cazares launched a GoFundMe campaign to assist him with the production costs associated with the release of FEAR FACTORY's latest LP.

Bell later told Kerrang! magazine that his split with FEAR FACTORY was a long time coming. "It's been on my mind for a while," he said. "These lawsuits [over the rights to the FEAR FACTORY name] just drained me. The egos. The greed. Not just from bandmembers, but from the attorneys involved. I just lost my love for it.

"With FEAR FACTORY, it's just constantly been, like, 'What?!' You can only take so much. I felt like 30 years was a good run. Those albums I've done with FEAR FACTORY will always be out there. I'll always be part of that. I just felt like it was time to move forward."

Bell will unveil "Paradise Found", his debut exhibition of photographic works, at the Vincent Castiglia Gallery in Fort Lauderdale, Florida from March 11 through May 23. The photographs Bell is presenting are representational of his industrial and science-fiction aesthetic.

"Paradise Found" consists of 20 original full-color photographs of abandoned industrial buildings taken in darkness and fog from 2002 to 2003. Bell's images are printed on aluminum using the dye sublimation process - an approach Bell calls "celluloid impressionism."

Bell's ASCENSION OF THE WATCHERS project released its second full-length album, "Apocrypha", in October 2020 via Dissonance Productions.

Rockers React To Death Of LYNYRD SKYNYRD Guitarist GARY ROSSINGTON

Rockers React To Death Of LYNYRD SKYNYRD Guitarist GARY ROSSINGTON

James Hetfield (METALLICA, John 5 (MÖTLEY CRÜE, ROB ZOMBIE, MARILYN MANSON),Frank Hannon (TESLA),David Ellefson (MEGADETH),Zakk Wylde (BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, PANTERA, OZZY OSBOURNE) and Doug Aldrich (WHITSNAKE, DIO, THE DEAD DAISIES) are among the musicians who have reacted on social media to the passing of guitarist Gary Rossington, the last surviving founding member of LYNYRD SKYNYRD. Gary was 71.

Rossington's passing was announced by LYNYRD SKYNYRD on the band's official Facebook page Sunday evening (March 5). No cause of death was given. The guitarist had battled a number of heart problems, including an emergency heart surgery in 2021. Six years earlier, he suffered a heart attack, prompting several of the band's concerts to be canceled. He also underwent quintuple bypass surgery back in 2003 due to coronary artery disease. In 2019, he had an operation to fix a leaky heart valve.

Five years ago, Rossington told the Tampa Bay Times his doctors had urged him for years to quit touring. "I've had heart attacks on stage," he said. "That's why I was calling it a farewell tour. I don't know if I'll be here [much longer]. I don't want to just say, 'Well, we're never going to end,' because I don't want to die and then it end that way — which is a heavy thing to talk about, but I have to."

Rossington survived the 1977 plane crash that killed singer Ronnie Van Zant and guitarist Steve Gaines. The band reunited with Ronnie's brother Johnny Van Zant as singer in 1987 and has been on the road ever since.

Rossington was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2006, along with other members of LYNYRD SKYNYRD, and contributed to many of the group's most iconic songs, including "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Free Bird".

Last December, Rossington told Rolling Stone magazine about LYNYRD SKYNYRD's enduring relevance: "It's a tribute band right now, and everybody knows it's not the original. Everybody who comes to see us is told that during the show, and probably knows before they even get there. But people still come to hear it live."

Rossington, whose health woes had forced him to miss many of LYNYRD SKYNYRD's recent shows, with Damon Johnson filling in for him, admitted he went through "a lot of different emotions" watching LYNYRD SKYNYRD from the side of the stage. "The notes are the same, and the songs are the same. It sounds good to me. It sounds like our band," he explained. "I look out and don't see the original band — it's strange. And then I look out and see a replacement for me, which is strange. Just hearing the songs without me playing on 'em live is very strange."

Despite “101 strange things happening," Rossington said that he was happy to know that LYNYRD SKYNYRD's music is still connecting with people. "To see the younger people enjoying it makes your heart warm."

WHITESNAKE's DAVID COVERDALE Unboxes Still Good To Be Bad Box Set; Video

WHITESNAKE's DAVID COVERDALE Unboxes Still Good To Be Bad Box Set; Video

Whitesnake have released the new video below, in which frontman David Coverdale unboxes the upcoming 15th anniversary edition of the band's Good To Be Bad album, entitled Still Good To Be Bad.

Whitesnake returned in 2008 with Good To Be Bad, the band’s 10th studio album and its first in over a decade. Fans embraced the comeback, pushing the album into the Top 10 in the UK and flocking to shows on the band’s massive world tour. Today, album tracks like “Best Years” and “Summer Rain” have taken their place in the band’s live repertoire alongside global hits like “Here I Go Again” and “Still Of The Night.”

Whitesnake explores the group’s 2008 return with the upcoming legacy retrospective, Still Good To Be Bad. The collection will be available in different configurations on April 28, a few days after the original album’s 15th anniversary. The first collection is a 4-CD/Blu-ray with two new versions of the original album (one remastered and the other newly remixed), a selection of rare and unreleased studio and live recordings from the period, and videos all the music videos, interviews, and electrifying live performances from the Good To Be Bad world tour.

Three other versions of Still Good To Be Bad will also be available on April 28. The album’s 2023 Remix will be released on vinyl as a double-LP and a single CD. Still Good To Be Bad also comes as a 2-CD set that includes the remixed and remastered versions of the album. The new alternate mixes also feature new background vocals from the “Hook City Harlots,” Cami Thompson, Misty Rae & Jackie Landrum, plus the “Hook City Horns” with Rick Metz on saxes and the trumpet of Joshua Reed.

The newly remixed version of “Can You Hear The Wind Blow” is out today as a digital single and new music video. Listen here, watch below.

Whitesnake founder and lead singer David Coverdale played an integral role in making the new collection, serving as its executive producer. In the set’s liner notes, Coverdale traces the creative spark for Good to Be Bad back to 2003 when he reconvened Whitesnake for a tour celebrating the band’s 25th anniversary.

“We went out for two months and came back nine months later, and I had a big smile on my face and felt really energized.... I thought—‘Wow! I’ve got thirty years of music here that I can go out and play, and I don’t have to promote a new record...I can just have fun out there.’”

The anniversary ended, but the tour buses kept rolling as Whitesnake remained in demand on the road. As a result, in 2006, the band released Live...In The Shadow Of The Blues, a concert album that also introduced four new studio recordings. Those songs raised fans’ hopes for a new Whitesnake studio album, the first since 1997’s Restless Heart.

Coverdale enjoyed a newly forged creative friendship with electrifying guitarist Doug Aldrich...After initially saying he wasn’t interested in new projects...after three years of touring, he felt the need for new music...not only for the fans, but also to reinvigorate himself.

He found the perfect writing partner with Doug Aldrich. Not only as a co-writer but, as a co-producer, too...

“Doug & I got on so well, I suggested we sit down with our acoustic guitars & see what unfolded...I was thrilled how effortless it was to create new Whitesnake music with him...”

So, it was that in 2007, Coverdale, guitarists Doug Aldrich and Reb Beach, keyboardist Timothy Drury, bassist Uriah Duffy, and drummer Chris Frazier began recording tracks for Whitesnake’s 10th studio album, Good to Be Bad. Celebrated by both fans and critics, the record was named “Album of the Year” at the 2008 Classic Rock Awards.

Still Good To Be Bad explores the creative process behind the record with 28 different mixes and alternate versions of album tracks, all but one of them previously unreleased. High points include “If You Want Me,” backed by the Hook City Harlots and Horns and a version of “All For Love” that features a different guitar solo by Aldrich. The collection also includes “Evolutions”, a disc of unreleased recordings that presents a guide through the genesis of each song, from initial ideas with rough vocal melodies, lyrics and riffs through to finished demos and full band production versions.

The Blu-ray delivers a variety of Whitesnake video footage, including live tracks from the band’s 2008 European tour, acoustic performances from the era, and an interview by Eddie Trunk. New songs like “Best Years,” “A Fool In Love,” and “Can You Hear The Wind Blow” come to life in these incredible live performances. The Blu-ray also features promo videos for “Ready To Rock” and “Lay Down Your Love.”

PHIL LEWIS On Solution To Legal Dispute With STEVE RILEY Over L.A. GUNS Name: 'I Suppose It's Fair'

PHIL LEWIS On Solution To Legal Dispute With STEVE RILEY Over L.A. GUNS Name: 'I Suppose It's Fair'

During an appearance on this past Tuesday's (February 27) episode of SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk", Phil Lewis once again commented on the out-of-court resolution of the legal dispute over the rights to the L.A. GUNS name. Under the terms of the April 2021 settlement agreement, he and guitarist Tracii Guns are continuing to operate under the L.A. GUNS trademark, while drummer Steve Riley and his bandmates from the other version of L.A. GUNS are now operating under the new name RILEY'S L.A. GUNS. Asked if he is satisfied with how the dispute was resolved, the singer said: "I think so. Just to be clear, they were after us. There was no question, no doubt. I've got them on record saying, 'We have as much right to the name as they do,' talking about us, which is absolute baloney. And there was no way we could not stop what we were doing and address that, no matter what it cost, no matter what we had to do. Because it [would be] over; it'd kill us. So we had to come up with something. And we did. We came up with a solution. I suppose it's fair.

"L.A. GUNS is Tracii's baby; it has been his baby since, like, 1985. And a bunch of guys from back east getting together with a grudge isn't… You're doing it for the wrong reason. That's not L.A. GUNS," Lewis explained.

RILEY'S L.A. GUNS features Riley alongside Orlando, Florida-based guitarist/vocalist Kurt Frohlich, bassist Kelly Nickels (a member of L.A. GUNS' "classic" incarnation) and guitarist Scott Griffin, who played bass for L.A. GUNS from 2007 until 2009, and then again from 2011 to 2014.

In January 2020, Riley was sued by Lewis and Guns in California District Court. Joining Riley as defendants in the case were the three musicians who performed in his rival version of L.A. GUNS; that group's manager, booking agent and merchandiser; and Golden Robot Records. The complaint, which requested a trial by jury, alleged that Riley's version of L.A. GUNS (referred to in the case docket as "the infringing L.A. GUNS") was creating "unfair competition" through its unauthorized usage of the L.A. GUNS trademark. In addition, Guns and Lewis were seeking relief from and/or against false advertising, breach of contract and unauthorized usage of their likenesses.

In May 2021, Guns discussed the resolution in an interview with The SDR Show. He said: "We ended up settling in a way where, basically, [Steve] licenses the words L.A. GUNS for free; I'm not even asking for a percentage of when he plays. I'm just saying, 'Hey, I could have taken your house. I could have taken anything you own. But I don't want you to die in the street, and I don't want you to be poor.' And I really love his son, Cole. It just got to the point with all this litigation… It just got to the point where [we were] just going back and forth, and I'm, like, 'How can I easily make it just make sense?' 'Cause in the end, they had no argument. 'Well, I'm in L.A. GUNS.' That was the argument. No, you're not — you're not in L.A. GUNS. You were hired by me. The bass player guy was hired by me. And it's as simple as that. But if you wanna pretend that you came up with the name or you formed the band or it was your musical vision or that you even wrote one fucking song, you can go live in that fantasy, as long as it doesn't infringe on my business."

In a separate interview with Sonic Perspectives, Guns addressed the fact that Riley's version of L.A. GUNS played at the M3 Rock Festival in 2019 and released a full-length album under the L.A. GUNS name, 2020's "Renegades". He said: "Dude, when they did those couple of shows, we got so much angry e-mail from our fans. People were, like, 'What the fuck? None of you guys were there!' We would have to explain it's a different band with the same name. When I say a lot, I'm talking over a thousand e-mails. Then they put out a record using the name L.A. GUNS, [and] the e-mails just escalated. That was the point where some from our family stepped who had unlimited funds, which we used to stop this. It was what we needed to do, and it is done. Can you imagine, now they have to make up their legal fees? In what reality is it worth it? For Steve Riley to spend $80,000, and they will never make that back with RILEY'S L.A. GUNS. There is no logic, and it's so bizarre."

In November 2021, Riley told Waste Some Time With Jason Green that Tracii and Phil "do not like each other. I don't care what anybody says; I know what I know. I was the only one constant factor in L.A. GUNS through all the changes. I know how they talked about each other. I know how they got along when they were together, and they do not like each other."

Steve went on to say that he knew from the get-go that Phil "was making a bad call" be reuniting with Tracii. He added: "To call that an L.A. GUNS reunion with just the two of them… First of all, it's not a reunion. And then second of all, to do it with him and know their past relationship, know how they tore each other up in interviews and in the press and just said the worst things about each other, I just couldn't understand it; it wasn't registering to me. Why would you wanna do this when you could, at this age, at this point in your career, don't you wanna be comfortable and do it around people that you really dig? So it wasn't really registering why he would wanna do it. I guess they saw big dollar signs, and that didn't happen.

"The thing is you've gotta build a machine," he continued. "I know that the machine that they have around them right now is not good. I know that they have some people working for them that probably don't know how to direct them, how to get the most out of what they have. So the thing is gonna stall, and it has stalled."

New SEETHER Music Is 'In The Pipeline', Says DALE STEWART

In a new interview with Heavy New York, SEETHER bassist Dale Stewart was asked if there are any plans for him and his bandmates to work on new music as a follow-up to the "Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum" album, which came out in 2020. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "We'll definitely be releasing some new music at some point. Where that's gonna be on the timeline is hard to say."

He continued: "We're at a place in our careers now where we… When you're a baby band, it's, like, 'We need that album. You've gotta get it out. You've gotta get it out,' whereas now we can take a little bit more time, make sure the songs are ready and then go in and knock it out.

"[SEETHER frontman] Shaun [Morgan] just had a kid, so we're not touring as hard as we did. But, yeah, we're definitely gonna start working on some new stuff. So, yeah, just kind of keep an eye out for announcements on that. Nothing set in stone yet, but it's in the future. So, don't despair. There's something in the pipeline. You've just gotta wait a little bit longer."

Last July, SEETHER issued the deluxe edition of "Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum", containing 22 tracks in all, five of which were previously unreleased. It includes all 21 songs recorded during the "Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum" sessions, along with the alternate version of "Wasteland" that was originally featured on the 2020 "The Purgatory" EP.

Produced by Morgan and engineered and mixed by Matt Hyde (DEFTONES, AFI),the acclaimed "Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum" ("If you want peace, Prepare for war") was released in August 2020, spawned three No. 1 singles on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart and at Active Rock radio and garnered some of the best reviews of the band's storied career.

Since forming in Pretoria, South Africa in 1999, SEETHER (Morgan, Dale Stewart, John Humphrey and Corey Lowery) has amassed a global, devoted fan base with an unbroken sense of purpose and commitment. Their impressive sales and chart history includes three platinum and two gold albums, 18 No. 1 singles, 21 Top 5 multi-format hits, single sales topping 17 million and over two billion streams worldwide across all platforms. SEETHER is Billboard's No. 8 all-time mainstream rock artist, which covers the over 40-year history of the chart's existence.

Last year, SEETHER finished a U.S. arena tour as special guests of BREAKING BENJAMIN.
