DISMEMBER Rules Out Full-Length Tours: 'We Don't Do More Than Two Shows In One Weekend'

DISMEMBER Rules Out Full-Length Tours: 'We Don't Do More Than Two Shows In One Weekend'

In a new interview with Mark Kadzielawa of 69 Faces Of Rock, drummer Fred Estby and guitarist David Blomqvist of long-running Swedish death metallers DISMEMBER spoke about the band's current reunion, which began nearly six years ago. Regarding how he and his bandmates decided to return to playing live shows,  Fred said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I moved to the United States in 2016. I toured — I'm a sound engineer, so I did a lot of front-of-house jobs for other bands, touring with other bands. And people sometimes came up to me and would be, like, 'Are you Fred from DISMEMEBER?' I'm, like, 'Yeah, why?' 'You guys should tour again. You guys should play again.' And I'm, like, 'Yeah, whatever.' People say that and they don't really mean it. But after a couple of years, like around 2017, I was, like, 'Oh, maybe there is a real interest that is big enough for us to maybe think about playing together.' And we were not all on the same page then, but we let it go. So we kind of forgot about it. But then around 2018, we started getting real offers to do festivals and so on. And people were actually saying that, like, 'Whatever you want, whatever you need within reason, we want you to play.' So, we finally got on the same page, all of us, and we were, like, 'Yeah, let's do it again. Let's see how this goes.'"

Asked what he and other members of DISMEMBER are doing differently now that they didn't do before, Fred said: "We do not do any long tours. We don't do more than two shows in one weekend. If we start touring again, you're gonna start seeing the bad sides of being away from your family and your home and your work, and you can't take off from work. We all have careers that we don't wanna give up. So, that's number one. Number two is that we promised each other that any show or any decision that we do for the band is gonna be — everybody has to be in, all five of us. If that's not happening, then it's not gonna happen. And number two was that we said that if it's not fun, we shouldn't do it. We need to know that we're having as much fun as we did when we started out, so that we're laughing, there's more positivity than negativity around the shows we're doing. That was really important to us. And that's why we keep it like this. People are, like, 'Oh, you should come tour.' Or, 'If you could be on the road instead, we could pay a little less for you guys to come play. And then you can play more shows and all that.' Yeah, but that is the problem. Then you start compromising on your own terms. So we're never gonna do that. We're never gonna tour. If we play more than two shows in one week, that's gonna be very rare, and it has to be very special. Otherwise, we keep it like this. And that makes it fun for us, for the audience, and we also know that there's gonna be good quality for all the shows that we're playing."

As for the possibility of a new DISMEMBER album, Fred said: "Yeah, I mean, we have material already. We're talking about making an album. It's just a matter of when and where and how, because we don't live… I live in the U.S, Richard [Cabeza, bass] lives in Belgium, the other three guys live in Sweden still, so we just have to plan it out well. And also we're still getting offers to play around 10 shows per year, which is what we can do. We can't really do much more than that per year. So as long as those offers keep coming in, then it's kind of hard to say no to that just to record an album, because we also wanna play live. So I guess we're gonna have to try to plan something out, but we're talking about how to do it. So we'll see."

David added: "Everyone wants to make a new album, of course. It's not like we're doing a greatest-hits show and get the cash. I'm enjoying this more than I did before. I'm having so much fun. As Fred said, now it's on our terms. So it's just a lot of positive energy."

In a May 2024 interview with Hells Headbangers' Justin Horval, DISMEMBER vocalist Matti Karki spoke about a possible follow-up to the band's 2008's album "Dismember". He said: "I know we have to do something. First of all, we need to, or we want to, keep our style, but still it has to be different in a way, because there's a lot of bands who does the old stuff. So we have to find our new niche, what we're doing. But at this moment, I think we have a couple of riffs. The guys have been writing at home. We haven't heard it. We haven't done anything. The only thing we've been talking about, yeah, we need to do a new album. And we have to find a way to make songs across three different countries — Fred in the States, three of us in Sweden, and one in Belgium… We'll see what happens since we only talked about it."

Earlier in May, Cabeza was asked by RichardMetalFan if there is any possibility of fans getting some new music from DISMEMBER soon. He responded: "For sure, man. It's happening. When, I can't tell you right now. But we have talked about writing new music. We are writing new music individually, but we haven't started to write music together as a band. We have been so busy with playing shows the past couple of years and doing all this other stuff. But I think we're getting closer and closer. Let's see what happens next year in 2025. Maybe we'll actually start putting some songs together. But a hundred percent, a new DISMEMBER album will happen. No doubt, no doubt. But we have very high expectations on ourselves as a band to release a new album."

In August 2023, Estby was asked by Arto Lehtinen of Metal Rules if it is harder to write new songs because DISMEMBER has a huge legacy. Fred responded: "It's not hard at all. So the thing is, we have a license deal with Nuclear Blast. We have an option to do one or two more albums. Great. We can do whenever we want, which is even more perfect for us. So we can take our time and we're going to take our time because we're not going to release something that is half-assed. We're going to be very critical about [it], especially since it's been such a long time since the last album. And I love the DISMEMBER album that I'm not even on that was released in 2008. It's a great album. If you're going to release an album now as a reunited band in two thousand and fucking twenty-three, twenty-four, you're going to have to try to match like ever before. You cannot be shy of that. We're going to be very critical about it and that's going to take some time because we don't live in the same cities like we hang out every day."

In July 2022, it was announced that DISMEMBER had once again partnered with Nuclear Blast Records, the label that released the band's 1990 demo, "Reborn In Blasphemy", their 1991 debut album, "Like An Everflowing Stream", as well as the four records that would follow. In celebration of this announcement, a fully remastered version of "Like An Everflowing Stream" was made available on streaming services worldwide after it had been absent for quite some time.

"Like An Everflowing Stream" — hailed by many as one of the best death metal albums of all time — was the first entry in a reissue campaign of the entire DISMEMBER back catalog, which was recently remastered from the original albums.

Between 1988 and 2011, DISMEMBER earned a notorious reputation as the "MOTÖRHEAD of death metal", through eight classic albums and furious live shows around the globe. The band was formed by Robert Sennebäck, David Blomqvist and Fred Estby in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1988 and has long since been regarded as one of the originators of the trademark Swedish death metal sound, next to other pioneering bands such as ENTOMBED, GRAVE and UNLEASHED. DISMEMBER recorded a couple of independently released demos before their 1990 demo cassette, "Reborn In Blasphemy", with Matti Kärki on vocals and ENTOMBED's Nicke Andersson taking over most lead guitar parts, got picked up for a wider release by Nuclear Blast Records. In 1991, "Like An Everflowing Stream" saw the light of day, which was recorded by Tomas Skogsberg at the now-legendary Sunlight Studios, and featured Richard Cabeza (UNANIMATED) on bass. DISMEMBER released its acclaimed sophomore album, "Indecent & Obscene", in 1993, which to this day remains their most successful output. Three more albums would follow on Nuclear Blast, "Massive Kiling Capacity" (1995),"Death Metal" (1997) and "Hate Campaign" (2000),until the band decided to switch labels. They released two more albums, "Where Ironcrosses Grow" (2004, Karmageddon Records) and "The God That Never Was" (2005, Regain) before Estby announced his departure for family reasons in 2007. Their last album, "Dismember", followed in 2008 and the band officially broke up in 2011. After an eight-year hiatus, the band's original lineup reunited for a 30th-anniversary gig at Scandinavia Death Fest in October 2019, performing together for the first time in over 20 years.

SVEN GALI Cover RED RIDER Classic "Lunatic Fringe" In New Video

SVEN GALI Cover RED RIDER Classic "Lunatic Fringe" In New Video

Canadian rockers Sven Gali have uploaded a cover from their countrymen Red Rider with “Lunatic Fringe”.

The track was originally featured on Red Rider’s 1981 album, As Far As Siam and the song would peak at #11 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart.

Sven Gali's trademark blend of heavy riffs, gritty vocals, and anthemic melodies span decades. Cutting their teeth in the bar circuit of Southern Ontario, Canada in the late 80’s, Sven Gali’s live show was a full on circus of sex, drugs and rock n’ roll.

Emerging with a record deal with BMG, Sven Gali released their debut self-titled release in 1992. From the first chord of “Under The Influence” Sven Gali made their mark. Follow up singles “Tie Dyed Skies” and “In My Garden” paved the way for the ballad number 6 CanCon song of 1993 that also went Top 10 nationwide, “Love Don’t Live Here Anymore.”

As the album went Gold, Sven Gali won the MuchMusic Best Metal Video Award in 1993 for “Under The Influence” and was nominated for two Junos. With a worldwide release, Sven Gali toured with the likes of Def Leppard, Foreigner and April Wine.

Sven Gali’s follow-up, Inwire, was partly recorded in in Seattle with producer Kelly Gray and saw the band take on a more alternative experimental tone. The band broke up soon after the album’s release and played sporadic shows before solidifying a new lineup with original members Dave Wanless (vocals), Andy Frank (guitar) and TT (bass) bringing in guitarist Sean Williamson and drummer Dan Fila from former BMG labelmates Varga.

Sven Gali’s new release, Bombs And Battlescars, through Canadian label, Music In Motion Ent, combines the best of both Sven Gali eras. The album contains five new originals. “One Gun” is a relentless driver that sets the battlefield ablaze with its blistering guitar work and commanding vocals. The massive groove of “Coming Home” and fierce anthem “Monster” showcase Sven Gali's unapologetic attitude while the sonic prowess of “Life Inside” stands side by side with any current alternative metal peers. Closer “Nothing New” showcases the melodic side of the band with a catchy acoustic groove.

Bombs And Battlescars also brings the band full circle with a cover of Triumph’s “Spellbound.” Recorded at Toronto’s Metalworks studio where many of Sven Gali’s early songs were recorded and demoed, acclaimed Coney Hatch frontman Andy Curran produced the track bringing the song into the modern age. Triumph drummer Gil Moore also appears in the video. The album is filled out with three remastered unreleased tracks from the band’s 90’s recording vault.

Bombs And Battlescars on CD and limited edition army green vinyl are available through retail. Signed CDs and LPs are available here.

House Of Lords have released a lyric video for "Castles High", featured on their latest album, Full Tilt Overdrive, available via Frontiers Music Srl. Watch below:

Produced by vocalist James Christian and keyboardist Mark Mangold, the Full Tilt Overdrive album delivers an inspired collection that proudly stands among the best in the band’s repertoire. With plans to bring these new songs to stages across Europe and the States, House Of Lords continues to be a driving force in the hard rock scene.

This is the same lineup that appeared on the previous album Saints And Sinners. however they are now definitely more gelled and have produced a more focused and extremely ambitious new album with no weak points.

House Of Lords stands for superb hooks and majestic atmospheres that bring back the memories of their stellar debut album, monumental guitar riffs, and a production to die for. House Of Lords debuted in 1989 with the release of their self-titled album, a record that is still regarded as one of the best arena rock releases of the 1980s. The colossal sound, the soaring vocals of Christian, and the instrumental capabilities of the band (which featured ex-Angel and Giuffria keyboardist Gregg Giuffria, along with luminaries Lanny Cordola, Chuck Wright, and Ken Mary), were reminiscent of such frontrunners as Whitesnake, Deep Purple and Van Halen and immediately brought the band to the attention of the mainstream music media and the masses of '80s hard rock fans.

With their sophomore release, Sahara, House Of Lords had considerable radio and video chart success with their cover of Blind Faith's "Can't Find My Way Home." After a tour with Nelson in 1991, the group disbanded, eventually coming back together with a new lineup (featuring original members Giuffria and Christian) in 1992 with Demon's Down. With the change in musical climate at the time, House Of Lords hibernated until the original lineup came back together in 2000, releasing the controversial Power And The Myth, an album that featured a sound leaning more towards progressive hard rock with '70s rock influences.

After a short European tour, Christian decided to go back to the trademark arena rock sound of House Of Lords, putting together a new lineup with the blessing of founding member Giuffria, who opted out right before the release of Power And The Myth. New members Jimi Bell on guitars and B.J. Zampa on drums supplied a true powerhouse sound to the fifth studio album, World Upside Down, a r

Next PAPA ROACH Album Will Be 'Diverse', 'Experimental', 'Emotional' And 'Dynamic'

Next PAPA ROACH Album Will Be 'Diverse', 'Experimental', 'Emotional' And 'Dynamic'

In a new interview with The Mistress Carrie Podcast, PAPA ROACH guitarist Jerry Horton was asked if the experience of making the band's upcoming album was different to the way he and his bandmates went about making 2022's "Ego Trip". He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I would say that maybe the experience — well, definitely the experience was different, 'cause we kind of bounced around different producers, different studios, but I think the energy is the same. We're still fired up about it. And the first song coming is — it's a banger. It's heavy, catchy — it sticks in your head, for sure. And the record is diverse, just like the last one. It's experimental and it's emotional, it's dynamic. I think even though the experience was different, it has more in common with the last record than not."

Earlier in the month, Horton told Meltdown of Detroit's WRIF radio station that PAPA ROACH's new single will be released before the band's upcoming tour.

Asked if PAPA ROACH is planning on putting out a full album or if the band will "drop songs here and there", Jerry told WRIF: "It's gonna be both, actually. We'll probably do song by song in a lead-up to putting out a record, but we're not gonna put the whole record out at once… Because we're our own label, basically, we don't have anybody telling us what to do. And I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but we're just gonna try it this way and see how it works. But, yeah, we'll do singles kind of like how things normally go and then kind of figure it out from there."

Regarding whether he is "a full-album kind of guy", Jerry said: "I like albums. But that's kind of old school, I guess, of me. I have a record collection and I still have CDs in the car and I do streaming stuff as well, but I still like to listen to a whole record."

Horton continued: "There's good to both ways of doing it. I think that because everybody's listening kind of in a mix environment, like a playlist type of environment, I think it's okay for us to explore different styles and sounds and kind of make it feel like a mix of things, but that then takes a little more work to make everything feel cohesive."

Asked if there will be any special guests on any of the new PAPA ROACH songs, Jerry said: "Not on this first [single], but we have talked about having a guest or two on a couple of the other ones… We've got some things in the works."

Last month, PAPA ROACH singer Jacoby Shaddix told "The Jasta Show" about his band's plans for new music: "We are the label now. So just this last go-around, we ended our contract with Better Noise Music, fulfilled our contract with them, and then we started taking meetings out there in the business. And we went and kind of met the wizard. And then I went and realized that I'm a fucking wizard. Come on — I'm a wizard. You can't be the only one. So then we realized we're gonna do this. We're gonna start our own label. So we get distributed through Warner ADA. And it's a label services, so we have a team of people that we access there, but then we also have our own team of people with our management and our independent staff that we hire as New Noize — marketing and social media and all that kind of stuff. And we've just built up something great together. And on this last album, 'Ego Trip', this was our first go as an independent. And we're on the heels of this thing now. We've had four No. 1s on rock radio, which, that blows my mind. We've been able to serve our fans up what they want and give give our people what they want. And that, to me, I'm like so fucking stoked. We just put the work in and we're seeing it happen. And now we're on the heels of that. We're promoting our song 'Leave A Light On'. And we're off the road right now, so now we're, like, 'All right, now it's time to pull the slingshot back.'"

He continued: "We've been getting in the studio for the last five months. I'd say probably about 10 days a month we're together. We'll go, write, create, step away, trip out on what we created and finetune it the next time. And now we've got seven or eight songs. And the first kind of go-around for us, we went in… 'Cause our current single, it's an acoustic song; it's very heartfelt. And we're, like, 'All right, let's flip the script. We need to go write the heaviest P-ROACH we possibly could ever write. Let's just go see what that sounds like. Let's go experiment in the studio.' And so we've done that a few times over, and some of the stuff that we're… We've drop tuned some of the stuff. We're messing with some of the tunings, which then adds even a heavier element to it. And you know I love heavy music. It's something that is in my blood as well. I'm a fan of many styles. And it just feels natural to wanna lean into that heavy sound for us right now. And I'm excited. I feel inspired about creating."

Regarding the possibility of collaborations on the new PAPA ROACH music, Jacoby said: "There's collabs that are gonna come together, but I think once we get to the end of the creative process, and then we look at the songs and we go, 'All right, what do we have as kind of like a body of work or what's gonna be the first single, and who can we get to collab on this or reimagine this song?'"

Shaddix also talked about how PAPA ROACH plans to promote its new music. He said: "Looking at this thing from not only an artist perspective, but as from a label exec perspective, it's exciting for me. It really takes my interest in what I'm creating to another level. Because after we get the art finished, it's like instantly I'm imagining in my mind, what could a video look like? Or what could a marketing campaign around this song look like? What are the pieces we can put together that make the song more than just it is, so we can just push it out into the world. And then once it's out, it's the world's. It's how do you make that those impacts? And we found a lot of different ways to do it. Social media has been a really big one for us. We pressed in really hard with that. And some of it, I'm just, like, 'Oh,' it's cringe and I hate it. And some of it I just do it and then I get to the other side of it, I'm, like, 'Actually, that was actually really cool.'"

PAPA ROACH recently united with eight-time Grammy Award winner Carrie Underwood on a new recording of the band's multi-format hit single "Leave A Light On (Talk Away The Dark)". The official music video for the track — directed and filmed by Bryson Roatch and Jeff Johnson — was released in August.

PAPA ROACH will join forces with RISE AGAINST and special guest UNDEROATH to embark on the first North American legs of the "Rise Of The Roach" tour in the spring and fall of 2025,

PAPA ROACH are two-time Grammy-nominated, platinum-selling leaders in alternative hard rock music, who in 2025 will celebrate the 25th anniversary of their iconic album "Infest". PAPA ROACH are not unfamiliar with calling attention to mental health and have been doing so since the seminal release of their first hit-single "Last Resort". Since then, the band has gone on to create 10 studio albums, their most recent, "Ego Trip", on their own label New Noize Records. "Ego Trip" has garnered over 450 million global streams to date and has produced four No. 1 singles bringing the band's total to 26 career Top 10 hits, and 12 career No. 1s.

PESTILENCE's PATRICK MAMELI Explains Why He Is Planning On Moving To Thailand

PESTILENCE's PATRICK MAMELI Explains Why He Is Planning On Moving To Thailand

In a new interview with Tom Wilson of Australia's Sense Music Media, guitarist/vocalist Patrizio "Patrick" Mameli of long-running Dutch progressive death metallers PESTILENCE revealed that he is planning on leaving his birth country "in a few years" and "moving to Thailand." Asked what prompted that decision, Mameli said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Well, the thing is that I can make music and tour from any country in the world, I guess; just fly me in and I'm there. The thing is, is that the Netherlands, for a lot of people, how they view us, is a very liberal country. You can get to smoke your weed and stuff and like that — Amsterdam, blah, blah, blah — but you have to realize that this is one of the most taxed countries in the world; like almost 65% goes to taxes. Plus, we have a flooding in of illegal immigrants and people from other countries that, I guess, it's a problem that is all over the world happening. And things are getting too expensive here. It's just too expensive. And I can't have no peace of mind when I have to think about money all the time, where I'm just wanting to play music and compose music and do this. And Thailand is a country where there's controlled chaos, let me say it this way. My wife is Chinese. We love the Chinese cuisine, and it's just a free country and it's very inexpensive. So that's the main reason."

Asked if there is a good metal scene in Thailand, Patrick said: "There are some bands, but they mainly are more like the grindish thing, like the grind death, so a lot of blast beats and stuff like that. Nothing too serious, I think. They'll probably lynch me for saying that.

"I grew up in the '80s with bands like DEATH and MORBID ANGEL, so it can't get any better than that, I guess," he explained. "People nowadays, they don't even — the younger generation, I mean — they don't even know where death metal came from. They grow up on deathcore and that's what they think is the heaviest stuff that is around. So, yeah, sometimes I feel old — sometimes I really feel old. Because I'm turning 57 this year and trying to keep up by going to the gym every day, eating good food, no alcohol, no drugs, nothing, just trying to be as energetic as possible for the times to come with PESTILENCE, because I just wanna keep on continuing doing this for a few years more. And I think I still have enough riffs in me and new ideas to keep on going."

PESTILENCE's re-recorded best-of album, "Levels Of Perception", was made available in April via Agonia Records. The LP features twelve tracks from across the band's 38-year career.

Re-recording of the tracks has not only managed to breathe new life into them — half thanks to new line-up, and other half by implementing subtle changes which reflect Mameli's matured vision and refined with years of experience aesthetic — but also sets them apart from cheap, unimaginative compilations, by unifying the album's sound as befits a full-length release.

PESTILENCE was established in the Netherlands in 1986 and is considered to be a progressive death metal phenom, labeled on the same genre-defying scale as DEATH, CYNIC and ATHEIST. The group is led by founder, guitarist and mastermind Mameli, who's been the band's binding factor through two breakups and reunions. Both a reinvention and a confirmation of everything the band has been standing for since 1986, PESTILENCE is more than ever breaking new grounds and exploring the further outposts of extreme metal on "Exitivm" (2021) — the band's most recent album, which landed on several Billboard charts. In 2023, the band remastered and reissued its classic catalog, and announced "Portals" to be the title of its next studio album, which is currently in the works.

DREAM THEATER's MIKE PORTNOY Says Fans Have Been 'So Welcoming' On 40th-Anniversary Tour: 'It's Been Overwhelming'

DREAM THEATER's MIKE PORTNOY Says Fans Have Been 'So Welcoming' On 40th-Anniversary Tour: 'It's Been Overwhelming'

DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy and guitarist John Petrucci were interviewed by "Coffee With Ola", the YouTube program hosted by Ola Englund, the Swedish guitarist, record producer and owner of Solar guitars. Asked how it feels to be back in DREAM THEATER after a 13-year absence, Portnoy said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "It feels great. I mean, it's funny because for the whole world, they're just starting to see the reunion now, but we've been together for a year behind the scenes. So it's been over a year for us behind the scenes and making the new record, but it's only now in the past couple weeks since the [40th-anniversary European] tour began and since the first music video [from the upcoming DREAM THEATER album] came out that people are actually seeing us back together again. But for us, it's, like, it's old news… It is exciting, though. And you could feel the excitement and the love and the emotions at every show. And every night [DREAM THEATER singer] James [LaBrie] welcomes me back on from stage. And it's been overwhelming, the amount of love and everybody being so welcoming back and everything."

Petrucci talked about the recently released DREAM THEATER single "Night Terror", which is taken from the band's upcoming sixteenth studio album, "Parasomnia", due on February 7, 2025 via InsideOut Music. The LP marks the band's first release with Portnoy since 2009's "Black Clouds & Silver Linings". John said: "There was some back and forth as to what single we should lead with, and 'Night Terror' is the first song that we wrote together. When we got together, that's what came out of us. And so, for us, yeah, maybe there are songs that are a little bit more immediate to the general fanbase, but for us, we felt it was important that the first thing that people heard is, 'Listen, this is what DREAM THEATER is. This is the first thing we wrote. This identifies all the stuff that everybody loves about the band and showcases Mike.' I always said that opening fill before the guitar riff that Mike does, that fill is like, 'I'm back.' [Laughs] 'In case you missed me.' And I think he did that in one take. It was, like, 'Yeah, that's it. That's the signature.'"

Regarding what it felt like to be writing and recording with DREAM THEATER again, Portnoy said: "To be back with these guys, it feels really special. It feels like family, really, honestly. John and me and DREAM THEATER bassist] John Myung have been playing together almost 40 years at this point. We formed the band when we were teenagers and met at college, the first month of college. So, for us, it's deeper than just being in a band together. We've been through life together. We met our wives together, our wives played in a band together, we ad our families at the same time, we've been to the funerals of each other's parents and siblings and things like that. So, we've been through all these life experiences together. It goes beyond just the music for us. All that being said, it also, at least to me, felt like no time had passed. It did not feel like 13 years. Once we started writing together, it felt so natural and so fresh. 'Night Terror' was the first thing we worked on, and it just came out so naturally. There wasn't much thought needed to go into it. It was, like, 'Okay, here we are where we just left off.'"

John chimed in: "It's tough to explain. For anybody out there who has been in bands with their friends, you almost have like an unspoken language, like somebody plays something, I know what he means when he plays it and I respond and vice versa. So it's, like, immediately the songs just developed and grew in such a natural and organic way. It was so cool."

On the topic of "Parasomnia", which DREAM THEATER previously said had a conceptual theme but not a concept album, John said: "Without giving too much of a way, because we always like to keep the mystery, but I think this has been said before, the album's called 'Parasomnia', and for those people that don't know what that is, it kind of encompasses a broad range of sleep disturbances, and that could range from snoring to some scarier things, like sleepwalking and night terrors, false awakenings and things like that that are actually really very frightening for the people that it happens to. So, much in the way that [2002's] 'Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence' had a lyrical theme to it where there were different case studies having to do with challenges of mental illness and stuff like that, 'Parasomnia' is sort of the sleep disturbance version of that, but in an entire record, as opposed to just a song."

The progressive metal legends played their first concert with Portnoy in 14 years on October 20 at the O2 Arena in London, United Kingdom.

The drummer co-founded DREAM THEATER in 1985 with Petrucci and Myung. Mike played on 10 DREAM THEATER albums over a 20-year period, from 1989's "When Dream And Day Unite" through 2009's "Black Clouds & Silver Linings", before exiting the group in 2010. Portnoy returned to DREAM THEATER in October 2023 after being replaced by Mike Mangini, who played with DREAM THEATER across five studio albums and accompanying world tours.

London marked the kick-off concert of DREAM THEATER's 2024-2025 40th-anniversary tour. The European leg of the trek — presented as "An Evening With Dream Theater" — will run through November 24 in Amsterdam, hitting cities in numerous countries along the way.

"Parasomnia" was produced by guitarist John Petrucci, engineered by James "Jimmy T" Meslin, and mixed by Andy Sneap. Hugh Syme returns once again to lend his creative vision to the cover art.

The first single, "Night Terror", is a musical thrill ride captured in the just shy of ten minutes listening experience. A music video for the song — directed by Mike Leonard — is now available.

NOAH WEILAND, Son of SCOTT WEILAND, Drops New Single '2 Nights'

NOAH WEILAND, Son of SCOTT WEILAND, Drops New Single '2 Nights'

Noah Weiland has released his new single, "2 Nights". The song combines a gritty alternative pop sound with the youthful energy of hyperpop. "2 Nights" is accompanied by a music video featuring a grainy, VHS-style aesthetic that highlights Noah Weiland's bold and edgy fashion choices. The video brings the song to life with a blend of nostalgic visuals and Noah's raw, confessional-style hyperpop lyrics.

Growing up in Southern California as the son of Scott Weiland, lead singer of STONE TEMPLE PILOTS and VELVET REVOLVER, had a profound impact on Noah's musical journey. He began releasing music in 2020, with his 2023 single "Yesterday" attracting attention from major outlets like Rolling Stone, Consequence, Loudwire and iHeart Radio. Noah is currently putting the wraps on his debut release, "Call Jesus", which will be out in 2025.

Back in 2021, Noah made headlines when he was fired from the band SUSPECT208 and called out publicly for having a drug problem.

Scott Weiland died of a drug overdose in 2015 at the age of 48, while Noah's mother, Mary Forsberg Weiland, has gone public with her own addiction battles.

K.K. DOWNING Says KK'S PRIEST's North American Tour With ACCEPT Was 'Fantastic'

K.K. DOWNING Says KK'S PRIEST's North American Tour With ACCEPT Was 'Fantastic'

In a recent interview with TalkShopLive, former JUDAS PRIEST and current KK'S PRIEST guitarist K.K. Downing spoke about the latter band's recent North American co-headlining tour with ACCEPT. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Yeah, it was fantastic, to be out there with the guys. ACCEPT — I met those guys, I think it was '82 or maybe '83. I think they came on board as a support [act] when we [JUDAS PRIEST] were on the — I think it was 'Point Of Entry' tour; I think it was, yeah, the album after 'British Steel'. And so we became good friends, and, obviously, I'm very proud of the guys. And they literally did stick to their guns, and they are literally metal through and through, so it was great to hook up with Wolf [Hoffmann, ACCEPT guitarist] and the guys again. Actually, just prior to that, we'd been playing some some big festivals in Europe, and so we ran into the guys there and, obviously, we were talking about the tour that we were about to embark on in the States. And it went fantastic. We had some great times, going back to a lot of the old stomping ground, the cities — so many great cities. Obviously, America's a big place, a very big place, and we didn't play everywhere, but we did 28 shows. So, it was good to be back and undoubtedly we will return again."

Downing also touched upon the first two KK'S PRIEST albums, 2021's "Sermons Of The Sinner" and 2023's "The Sinner Rides Again", and the possibility of a follow-up, saying: "We got extremely busy — did two albums in three years. Hopefully we can make it three albums in four years. But, obviously, the touring schedule — we have been very busy for the last 18 months, and we're looking forward, at some point, to get out there again and look at South America and Australia. And I don't know where people are tuning in from today, but hopefully there's people out there that live in those territories. So I'd just like to say, please be patient and we'll get there. We'll get to you."

In addition to Downing, KK'S PRIEST features former JUDAS PRIEST singer Tim "Ripper" Owens alongside guitarist A.J. Mills (HOSTILE),bassist Tony Newton (VOODOO SIX) and drummer Sean Elg (DEATHRIDERS, CAGE).

KK'S PRIEST's North American tour with ACCEPT began on August 31 in Los Angeles, California, visiting a slew of major cities in the USA and Canada — such as Toronto, Montreal, New York and Nashville — before coming to an end in San Francisco, California on October 7.

KK'S PRIEST's first-ever U.S. headlining tour, which featured support from L.A. GUNS and BURNING WITCHES, kicked off on March 7 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and concluded on March 24 at Keswick Theatre in Glenside, Pennsylvania.

KK'S PRIEST's sophomore album, "The Sinner Rides Again", came out in September 2023 via the Austrian label Napalm Records.

KK'S PRIEST made its live debut on July 6, 2023 at Downing's KK's Steel Mill in Wolverhampton, United Kingdom.

K.K. formed KK'S PRIEST after JUDAS PRIEST turned down his offer to rejoin the band for their 50th-anniversary tour. It followed a couple of celebrated stage appearances, first with former MANOWAR guitarist Ross The Boss in the summer of 2019, then with a one-off lineup that included former MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson and former PRIEST drummer Les Binks later that year.

KK'S PRIEST released its debut album, "Sermons Of The Sinner", in October 2021 via Explorer1 Music Group/EX1 Records.

Downing spent four months writing and recording "Sermons Of The Sinner" and, along with new ideas, he even resurrected a few archived riffs from the 1980s.

Downing was reunited with JUDAS PRIEST for a performance at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony in November 2022 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

PRIEST received the Musical Excellence Award at the event, which honored Eminem, Dolly Parton, DURAN DURAN, Lionel Richie, Pat Benatar, EURYTHMICS and Carly Simon in the Performers category.

Downing left PRIEST in 2011 amid claims of band conflict, shoddy management and declining quality of performance. He was replaced by Richie Faulkner, nearly three decades his junior.

In 2019, Downing said that he reached out to JUDAS PRIEST about taking part in the band's 50th-anniversary tour but that their response was that they were not interested in including him in the celebrations.

In 2018, Downing revealed that he sent two resignation letters to his bandmates when he decided to quit JUDAS PRIEST. The first was described as "a graceful exit note, implying a smooth retirement from music," while the second was "angrier, laying out all of his frustrations with specific parties."

Downing later said that he believed the second letter was "a key reason" he wasn't invited to rejoin PRIEST after Glenn Tipton's decision to retire from touring.

Owens joined PRIEST in 1996 and recorded two studio albums with the band — 1997's "Jugulator" and 2001's "Demolition" — before PRIEST reunited with Rob Halford in 2003.

ANDREW FREEMAN, MIKE DUDA And MATT STARR Join Forces In New Band ELECTRIC TEMPLE

ANDREW FREEMAN, MIKE DUDA And MATT STARR Join Forces In New Band ELECTRIC TEMPLE

ELECTRIC TEMPLE's debut album, "High Voltage Salvation", will be released on December 6 through Eonian Records.

Formed by guitarist Tony Childs, ELECTRIC TEMPLE features Andrew Freeman (LAST IN LINE, LYNCH MOB, THE OFFSPRING) on vocals, Mike Duda (W.A.S.P.) on bass, Matt Starr (ACE FREHLEY, MR. BIG, KIX) on drums. Childs was formerly in the band SHANGHAI.

The combination of the four ELECTRIC TEMPLE members results in a sonic experience beckoning flavors from modern rock, post-grunge and that magic era when bands like BLACK SABBATH, DIO and JUDAS PRIEST established themselves as the godfathers of the "hard rock/metal" genre.

In their quest to keep the flames of rock burning bright, ELECTRIC TEMPLE champions the belief that "rock is religion". This mantra fuels their relentless pursuit of sonic excellence and their mission to ignite passion in the hearts of all who embrace that old-school rock and roll spirit.

Childs commented: "Eonian Records is the perfect match for ELECTRIC TEMPLE! Stephen and Ryan have vast experience in promoting bands in our genre, along with an extensive global distribution network. This ensures that metal fans everywhere can join ELECTRIC TEMPLE's 'rock is religion' congregation. We're thrilled to be working with a label that has a proven track record of working with great bands and a hands-on approach for making our worldwide debut album release a success!"

Ryan Northrop of Eonian Records states: "We hope music fans will really enjoy this new ELECTRIC TEMPLE release. I have known Tony for a long, long time, dating back before the SHANGHAI days! He is a brilliant musician and an even better person! To bring together musicians of this caliber is something special. After the first listen of the masters, I was completely blown away! It completely brought me back to classic DIO, JUDAS PRIEST, OZZY [OSBOURNE] and BLACK SABBATH. The chemistry with these guys is undeniable. Eonian Records is proud to be part of such a great release!"

Regarding how ELECTRIC TEMPLE came together, Childs explains: "I was going through a rough patch in my life the last few years where a lot of dark things were happening around me, to loved ones, as well as myself. I needed a cathartic way to deal with it. So almost by osmosis I started creating music in a proper old-school metal style that I loved but rarely heard anymore. It was quickly evident that it brought me back to my youth when hard rock/metal became my religion and helped me cope with teenage problems. This genre of rock still has the same impact on me today and still has the healing power that 'saves my soul'. ELECTRIC TEMPLE was born out of the need to express myself artistically, go to a place where I could 'worship' freely and be able to share my mantra 'rock is religion'."

ELECTRIC TEMPLE is:

Matt Starr (drums)
Mike Duda (bass)
Tony Childs (guitar)
Andrew Freeman (vocals)

See Visualizer For AXL ROSE And MICHAEL SCHENKER's New Version Of UFO Classic 'Love To Love'

See Visualizer For AXL ROSE And MICHAEL SCHENKER's New Version Of UFO Classic 'Love To Love'

The official visualizer for Michael Schenker's new version of the UFO classic "Love To Love", featuring a guest appearance by GUNS N' ROSES singer Axl Rose, can be seen below. The track is taken from the legendary guitarist's recently released album "My Years With UFO", which celebrates the 50th anniversary of his years with UFO, spanning from 1972 to 1978. The "German Wunderkind" was asked to join UFO at just 17 years old. Touring the globe as a teenager, Schenker became a driving force behind some of UFO's most loved tracks, such as "Doctor Doctor", "Rock Bottom" and "Only You Can Rock Me".

Although Michael Schenker's era with UFO spanned only six years, his influence as a young songwriter and exceptional guitarist had already left a lasting mark on rock. During these meteoric years, the UFO albums "Phenomenon", "Force It", "No Heavy Petting", "Lights Out", "Obsession" and the seminal live album "Strangers In The Night" were recorded, each contributing significantly to the genre. "Strangers In The Night" particularly stands out as one of the most influential live rock albums of all time and is still regarded as a cornerstone in any rock enthusiast's collection.

In this celebratory album, Michael Schenker presents 11 of UFO's greatest hits from this magical era with an impressive lineup of guest stars. Joining Schenker on this journey are Derek Sherinian on keyboards, Brian Tichy on drums, and Barry Sparks on bass.

The stellar roster of guest artists includes Rose, Slash (GUNS N' ROSES),Kai Hansen (HELLOWEEN),Roger Glover (DEEP PURPLE),Joey Tempest (EUROPE),Biff Byford (SAXON),Jeff Scott Soto (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, JOURNEY),John Norum (EUROPE),Dee Snider (TWISTED SISTER),Joel Hoekstra (WHITESNAKE),Joe Lynn Turner (RAINBOW),Carmine Appice (VANILLA FUDGE, CACTUS),Adrian Vandenberg (WHITESNAKE),Michael Voss, Stephen Pearcy (RATT) and Erik Grönwall (SKID ROW).

In a recent interview with the "Appetite For Distortion" podcast, Schenker was asked why he decided to make the LP now. Schenker replied: "In '72 I joined UFO. I was 17 years old. In '73 we recorded 'Phenomenon'. In '74, it was released. So it's 50 years, a long time. And that's when it started with UFO. And, of course, that gave me the idea to celebrate, 50th anniversary. And I have also noticed in the past few years that re-releases, they had no information — they just had the name UFO and the songtitles, but there's no info, no details. And so I thought I'd take this opportunity to inform people, to re-educate or educate newcomers that have — maybe they sing the songs, but have no clue what it is. And also, [UFO's 1978 live album] 'Strangers In The Night' is basically the best of UFO. When we used to tour after 'Phenomenon', we would pick a couple of songs to play on tour, and then 'Force It' — every album we made, we would decide collectively which songs we are going to present live. And then by the time we did 'Strangers In The Night', we had that all together and basically it became best of UFO. And also, it just happened to be that most of the songs, the music, were written by myself. And so I wanted to also add that to the info and all together. And then, of course, invite famous musicians, singers and players that have been influenced and inspired by UFO and myself and celebrate with them. They were teenagers themselves or even younger than that, and they got inspired by that. And now II can have them. And it's a great pleasure to have those guys joining me on this album."

Regarding how he got GUNS N' ROSES members Slash and Axl involved in the album, Schenker said: "Yeah, when Michael Voss, my co-producer, and I, we started putting down my guitars, and as we did that, we had no idea what we were gonna do… nothing had been discussed. And so as we were putting down the music, we thought, 'Oh, what about this?' 'What about that?' What about who?' Everybody had some ideas. And so, actually, everybody who participated on this album was added to the whole idea from different sources and different times. So, basically, with Axl and Slash — Slash, I was always interested in doing something with him, but I guess when Michael [Voss] first approached him that we're doing the best of UFO and read him the songtitles, he was for it. And when we met in the Frankfurt recording studio, we were both going jam there to 'Mother Mary'. And I had my technician there and my amplifier, and Slash brought his guys and his amplifier, and actually Slash ended up playing with my amplifier. And we were supposed to do a jam, but then I realized, 'Hey, Michael [Voss], I already put all my guitars down. Why we are wasting time doing additional stuff. I already like what I did.' So I was more into focusing on Slash and getting great takes and add them to what I already had done. And Slash liked that idea. And then also, when he came in, he said, 'Michael, I just told Axl that I was going to do this, and that I'm on my way to do this. And he said, 'I wanna sing a song too.' And I said to Slash, 'That would be fantastic. Ask Axl which song he would like to do.' And so actually Axl ended up singing 'Too Hot To Handle', 'Only You Can Rock Me' and 'Love To Love'. But I think they also were on tour at the time, and so Axl was not actually happy with his performance on 'Only You Can Rock Me' and 'Too Hot To Handle'. And I guess it was too many songs, because they were in the middle of a tour, and he preferred to just focus on 'Love To Love'. And he is a perfectionist, I have noticed, and so we waited until he was ready, and then finally he went, 'Okay, 'love to love'. I approve. You can release it. And that was it."

This album is the introduction to an upcoming trilogy, as Michael Schenker has signed an exclusive three-album deal with earMUSIC, with additional albums to follow in 2025 and 2026.

"My Years With UFO" track listing:

01. Natural Thing (feat. Dee Snider, Joel Hoekstra)
02. Only You Can Rock Me (feat. Joey Tempest, Roger Glover)
03. Doctor, Doctor (feat. Joe Lynn Turner, Carmine Appice)
04. Mother Mary (feat. Slash, Erik Grönwall)
05. This Kids (feat. Biff Byford)
06. Love To Love (feat. Axl Rose)
07. Lights Out (feat. Jeff Scott Soto, John Norum)
08. Rock Bottom (feat. Kai Hansen)
09. Too Hot To Handle (feat. Joe Lynn Turner, Adrian Vandenberg, Carmine Appice)
10. Let It Roll (feat. Michael Voss)
11. Shoot, Shoot (feat. Stephen Pearcy)

A little over three years ago, Michael detailed events which led to his final exit from UFO in 2002, saying that "the natural flow of the chemistry was destroyed" by the time he left the band.

Schenker, whose original tenure with the British rock institution lasted from 1973 to 1978, rejoined UFO in 1993, recording the "Walk On Water" (1995) album with the classic lineup of the band that also included lead singer Phil Mogg, bassist Pete Way, drummer Andy Parker, and guitarist/keyboardist Paul Raymond.

Explaining how the reunion came about, Michael told Eonmusic: "Phil Mogg came to Los Angeles in '93, begging me to refuel UFO because he completely had destroyed it. I said, 'I have a few conditions. One is, you have to give me 50 percent of the UFO name so you don't destroy it again, especially if I put my energy into it."

The onetime SCORPIONS man went on to say that initially, things were great within the camp, and that he noticed a change in the formerly dejected Mogg almost immediately. "I tell you, when I saw Phil the next time when we started recording, he looked like an one hundred and eighty degree different person," Schenker said. "He was happy, healthy. He was unbelievably fit."

But it was a harmony that wasn't to last. "'Walk On Water' was a blessing after 17 years," Michael said. "It was such a beautiful record that famously carried on from 'Strangers In The Night' [1979]. And then, of course, we went on the road, and then Phil lost it, and wanted control again and destroyed everything."

Despite going on to record two further albums with the band — 2000's "Covenant" and 2002's "Sharks", Michael said that it was further lineup changes (the ousting of both Parker and Raymond) which ultimately destroyed the band.

"I always said to him, 'Never do a reunion with UFO unless it's the original setup, including the producer,'" Michael said. "Because if you take one piece out, the chemistry is finished."

Bringing in producer Mike Varney for "Sharks" in place of Ron Nevinson, the man behind their greatest '70s triumphs, for Michael, the end was nigh. "I said to Phil, 'Don't do this. It will backfire. It will not succeed.' And it did not. The natural flow of the chemistry was destroyed, and basically, we were just limping towards the end."

Despite this, Michael made one final gesture of good will toward Mogg. "I'd had enough of UFO at that point, and in 2002, Phil Mogg asked me, 'Michael, I need the name UFO back.' I said to Phil, 'You know what? God bless you. I'll give you the name back for free. Enjoy your life.' And then that was it. That was the end of it."

STEPHEN PEARCY Doesn't Think MÖTLEY CRÜE 'Would Want To Play' After RATT On Hypothetical Joint Tour

STEPHEN PEARCY Doesn't Think MÖTLEY CRÜE 'Would Want To Play' After RATT On Hypothetical Joint Tour

In a new interview with Greg Prato of AllMusic, RATT singer Stephen Pearcy was asked if there has been any attempt to reunite the surviving members of the band's classic lineup to tour in support of the "Out Of The Cellar" reissue or the box set from last year. Stephen responded: "I had made those attempts. And some of my guys, they're complacent and some of them… It's not even a matter of not needing to financially. It's a matter of… some of them don't have the drive that I do. And without [late RATT guitarist] Robbin Crosby — who was really important in keeping the band together and keeping us directed — he was the guy who pretty much directed us. I created it, he directed it. I made attempts."

When Prato noted that some of the people he interviewed for one of his books, "World Infestation: The Ratt Story", said that a reunited RATT should have been included as part of "The Stadium Tour" in 2022, with DEF LEPPARD, MÖTLEY CRÜE, POISON and Joan Jett, and asked Pearcy if he agreed, the singer replied: "Of course. But I'm not the one… If it was a vote, of course not — I don't think MÖTLEY would want to play after us. And that's how it would have settled up. We still have some kind of competition out there, y'know? We would consider it, like, 'What? We're going to open up for you?' So yeah, we should have. It would have made sense. I mean, I don't care if you put us third, fourth, whatever — our motto was, 'Go out there and beat your ass, anyway.' And if they know you're playing first, they'll come and see you first, second, third, or whatever."

"It will go down again, and we'll see. Like I said, I tried to get the original guys. We attempted it once, and it was just like, 'Whoa.' But you pretty much called it in the book. And it's like, at the end of the day, I'm the guy left standing, going, 'Okay, that's cool. That's the way it should be: 40-year anniversary.' And what I'm doing [with my solo band] is playing the record live. The original band never even did that."

This past February, Stephen Pearcy was asked during an appearance on "The Hook Rocks!" podcast how much it bothers him that he and the other surviving members of the band's classic lineup can't reunite one more time to perform for their fans. He responded: "A lot. But you know what? It just goes to show who really has integrity. I mean, Jesus, I think… Put it this way, Bobby Blotzer, the drummer of RATT, he's ready to go. Carlos [Cavazo, former RATT and QUIET RIOT guitarist], who isn't an original member, he just jammed with me recently at the Whisky [in West Hollywood]. But I can't settle for less, and with a bass player who doesn't even look like the same guy, who's really… If you're not into it, you're not into it. And I can only have respect for Warren [DeMartini, RATT guitarist] for not wanting… He doesn't need to. None of these guys do. I don't need to. It's just a matter of what your drive is, I guess. I have a different drive than my guys, and that's where the buck stops. I can't force them. I can just go, 'You know this is called business.' Now it's business. Forty years later, you should be very fortunate. It doesn't matter how deep your pockets are. It's the integrity you have for what you created, what you were a part of. That's what pisses me off. It's not the, 'No, I don't wanna do it anymore. I'm fine.' It's not that.

"When we released the box set ['The Atlantic Years: 1984-1991'] last year, it was so cool. Besides looking great and it's a great fucking package, it was due. It was about time, 'cause that's it — that was the real RATT right there. '84 — well, the EP could have been in there — but '84 to '90, '91, that was it. After that, no matter who we had in the band, it just wasn't RATT without [late RATT guitarist] Robbin [Crosby]. And it wasn't gonna be, whether it was [Michael] Schenker or whoever. It wasn't gonna be. And that's why it never really flew the second time, although it could work now. But you don't have all the elements, the proper elements. Like, say, MÖTLEY bringing in John 5 — no disrespect — that's not MÖTLEY CRÜE. RATT without Robbin — I said it when he wasn't playing, 'This isn't gonna work. We can do anything we want, we can try as hard as we want. It's not gonna be the same.' And it never was, and never will be."

Regarding the fact that he still goes out and performs the RATT classics with his solo band, Stephen said: "I go out because I'm the only guy — I'm the singer guy, I write the songs. I have every reason to go out there. I have integrity for the fucking band I created. So I'm out there having a great time seeing these people. I mean, I'm telling you, the meet-and-greets [at my solo shows] are fucking nutty. It's like going to a Halloween party. It is 1984, and I love it. We embrace it. It's, like, fucking tell me the stories, number one. I see these old photos and just go, 'Man, explain that to me.' I just don't go, 'Hey, take a picture. All right, thank you. Get the fuck out of here.' No, we hang out and talk and sign. You want a tit signed, you want this signed — whatever. And nothing's changed. These people, they go right into 1984 mode."

Earlier in February, Pearcy told This Day In Metal about the possibility of a RATT reunion: "I've reached out, and I'm pretty much done reaching out, to get the guys [from the classic RATT lineup] together, whether we bring in Cavazo again or Michael Schenker, another guitarist. [They're] still not gonna fill Crosby's shoes ever, ever, ever, ever, but we can actually go out and do something cool for our fans, and that would be okay. But I've tried, and that's about all I can do.

"Look, I created this monster with Robbin as my right-hand man, who's no longer with me to slap people around," he continued. "All I can do is enjoy what we did, what we created, and that's why this box set [last year's 'The Atlantic Years: 1984-1991'] is very important. It's important to me, because it's our 40th year. I'm still here doing it. The other guys might not wanna do it, and some do, some don't. My plans are this year and next year to establish a few entities under the moniker '1980s Sunset Strip Experience', and we're developing some great stuff, a concert series and a residency, and we're gonna keep the torch, pass the torch, keep it going, whether it be with original bands who are still around [from] the '80s, 'cause inevitably you're gonna get older, you're gonna fuckin die. We're all droppin' like flies, unfortunately, due to the decade of decadence. And then even KIX is callin' it quits, [RATT's] Atlantic labelmates. I love those guys; I played with them all the time. So, here you go. What's gonna be left is you're gonna have all these tribute bands. So I'd rather be in charge of the tribute bands representing the RATT brand. Because there's tons of 'em — the MÖTLEYs [CRÜE], the [DEF] LEPPARDs, the RATTs. It's amazing. So there's a lot of fun stuff in store."

Pearcy celebrated the 40th anniversary of RATT's classic debut album, "Out Of The Cellar", by performing it in its entirety and in sequence for the first time in 2024.

RATT exploded on to the national scene in 1984 with the release of "Out Of The Cellar". Featuring an undeniable hook and legendary music video, lead single "Round And Round" hit No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100, while "Out Of The Cellar" reached No. 7 on the Billboard Top 200 and was certified triple platinum. Two more charting singles followed with "Back For More" and "Wanted Man". RATT started the tour as an opening act, but by the end of the tour had climbed to arena headliner.

RATT returned in 1985 with its second full-length album, "Invasion Of Your Privacy". Certified double platinum and also reaching No. 7 on the Billboard 200, "Invasion Of Your Privacy" also featured the classics "Lay It Down" (No. 40 on Billboard Hot 100) and "You're In Love".

"Dancing Undercover" followed in 1986 as RATT toured North America with a then-brand new Los Angeles band called POISON as the opening act. Lead single "Dance" hit the Billboard Hot 100 and spawned another music video hit with "Slip Of The Lip", while "Body Talk" was featured in a key scene in the Eddie Murphy film "The Golden Child". "Dancing Undercover" became RATT's third consecutive platinum album and reached No. 26 on the Billboard 200.

1988's "Reach For The Sky" saw RATT return to the Top 20 of the Billboard 200 album charts, peaking at No. 17. Driven by the bluesy hit and MTV favorite "Way Cool Jr.", "Reach For The Sky" was also certified platinum and became RATT's fourth album in a row to move well over a million copies. "I Want A Woman" was also a successful single and the video captured the excitement and energy of RATT live.

RATT released its last full-length record of the Atlantic era, "Detonator", in 1990. Music was changing, but "Detonator" was still a success, peaking at No. 23 on the Billboard 200 and going gold. It was the first RATT album to feature major outside songwriting contributions (Desmond Child, Diane Warren) and guests (Jon Bon Jovi, Michael Schenker). Lead single "Lovin' You's A Dirty Job" hit No. 18 on the rock chart while the power ballad "Giving Yourself Away" reached No. 39.

In 1991, they released the single "Nobody Rides For Free" from the hit film "Point Break", starring Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze.

In January 2021, Pearcy told SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk" that he was open to the idea of making a new RATT album with all the surviving members of the band's classic lineup.

RATT hasn't released any new music since 2010's "Infestation" LP.

ERELEY Unveils Cinematic Video For "Type 0 Steel"

Progressive rock / metal outfit Ereley has unleashed the music video for their gripping track "Type 0 Steel", off their album Garden, out now via Wormholedeath.

The video unfolds like a dark, Lovecraftian short film, packed with stirring visuals and lyrics that tap into themes of loss, numbness, and that all-too-familiar battle with our inner shadows.

In "Type 0 Steel", Ereley takes viewers on a soul-stirring journey of inner conflict—a powerful reflection on the human struggle between yearning for beauty and the reality of one’s darker self. Vividly depicted through striking imagery, the video captures the clash of a “colorful” dream against a shadowed existence.

Ereley's musical style, termed "heavy joy music," blends elements of doom, death, thrash, and prog metal, creating a dynamic, progressive sound.

Brazil's MAESTRICK Release New Single And Video "Upside Down"

Brazil's MAESTRICK Release New Single And Video "Upside Down"

Brazilian progressive metallers, Maestrick, are excited to unveil their new single and accompanying lyric video, “Upside Down”, out now via Frontiers Music Srl. Watch the clip below, and stream the track here.

Describing the new single, the band stated: "'Upside Down' shows the “sarcastic prog metal” side of our band. Musically, it draws inspirations from iconic rock giants such as Deep Purple and Jimi Hendrix. We wanted to somehow bring those classic hammond grooves and open chords to the symphonic universe of someone like Danny Elfman.”

“From a conceptual perspective, 'Upside Down' takes place in the first few hours of night, where the main character's adult life begins. Everything has changed now, as much as he still sees the world through child-like eyes. He meets several night creatures who introduce him to malice and trickery, leading him to realize nothing will ever be the same. Altogether, the song is a progressive metal amalgam of colourful soundscapes and spooky atmospheres that you'd expect to see in a Tim Burton movie”, they added.

Founded in São José do Rio Preto/SP by three friends, Maestrick have been active since 2006 and bring in their sound elements of rock and progressive heavy metal, Brazilian regional music, world music and classical music.

The band have released two albums in Brazil, Europe, United States and Japan, and are recognized for drinking from different artistic aspects - cinema, plastic arts, visual arts and literature – for their compositions, which results in a unique and, according to specialized critics, innovative style.

LIFE OF AGONY's MINA CAPUTO Says She Has 'Cured' Her Gender Dysphoria And Will Be Changing Her Name Back To KEITH CAPUTO

LIFE OF AGONY's MINA CAPUTO Says She Has 'Cured' Her Gender Dysphoria And Will Be Changing Her Name Back To KEITH CAPUTO

Transgender singer Mina Caputo — once known as Keith Caputo, the front-person for the popular rock band LIFE OF AGONY — says that she has "cured" her gender dysphoria and will change her name back to Keith Caputo after being "physically completely detransitioned" in 2025.

Mina broke the news of her plans to detransition in a 13-minute video posted to her Instagram account on Tuesday (November 19). She said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Yes. I'm off of hormones six, seven years now. And this January 2025, I am… my surgery has been booked to remove my fake breasts and I will be lovingly living in my divine male self. I've cured my gender dysphoria. It took many years, a lot of walking through the fire, but I rose above my misunderstandings of my soul and my spirit. That's a completely different topic and video, so I won't unpack all of that now. I just wanted to share with you guys, once again, that I am off hormone therapy six, seven years when 'A Place Where There's No More Pain' was made with LIFE OF AGONY. That was in 2016. And I've been existing in a different version of myself and a more healed version of myself.

"I've done years of trauma work, plant medicine therapy, which the world isn't ready for that conversation. However… And I'm making this video because a lot of people [are] throwing me shade and saying I look ugly and I look like a man and all that shit. And it's, like, honey lamb, I am a man. I always was a man. You're just not used to hearing authentic people speak. You're used to people spitting lies at you about their identity. And all the real transsexuals know what I'm talking about, because they own their authenticity. They're not about violating women's rights or the innocence of children and all that. And, which by the way, which leads me to that… I've been posting hard about, I'm very against transitioning children medically and especially surgically. Hormones are disgusting. I can't even begin to tell you how many side effects I went through and I can't believe more trans people don't speak about the side effects of being trans or having gender dysphoria and not talking about it.

"So, that's my big reveal — that, and I'm changing my name back to Keith," Mina continued.

"To all the people that seem confused and the people that have thrown me hatred and shade and all these mean comments, yeah, throughout this time I've had gender dysphoria for 40-plus, for as long as I can remember. I'm gonna be 51. I've had it my whole life, and I'm very happy I never had parents that made any decisions for me because now at 50, almost 51, I can't even find the dysphoria anymore. And now my flesh suit, my flesh vessel is living in an older version now, 'cause I have the fake boobs and they gotta come out and I gotta live now in my new authentic self. And that's why what they're doing today is disgusting, and I wanted to make a little jam about it. I'm gonna go deeper and deeper and deeper, but not now. I'm tired.

"So, that's it. So all the people trying to trigger me, you can't. I'm like a tree — I bend, but I don't break. I don't live in victimhood, the way they teach this world.

"I know I'm jumping from thing to thing, but that's who I am. I'm trying to keep it simple, but I can't. So let me go.

"I'm very proud of myself. I've been through so much over the years. I wouldn't wish gender dysphoria on my worst enemy. It's one of the most uncomfortable things I've ever been through in my life, and I'm so happy that it's fucking over. And I don't even recognize myself anymore. And I wish someone like [popular podcaster] Joe Rogan can come grab me so I can tell my story in depth because I'll keep I'll keep myself on a show for like three hours and I can I can get it into it all because I understand it. I know what hormones do to the body. I know what it did to me. It castrated my soul. Not only does it castrate you physically, but mentally, spiritually, emotionally, intellectually.

"Anyone that's gonna disagree with me, that's cool, but I know you're lying because I've been hearing stories for 30-plus years of the nightmares hormone therapy does to people's body.

"See, that's the first thing — when I first came out, turned myself inside out, I went to therapy for three years, almost three years, suddenly these days there's no more therapy. You could take your little three-, four-year-old toddler to the clinic and get hormone packages? Whatever happened to therapy? Don't get me started. I got a lot to unpack. A lot. I'm very deep. I'm very complex. Social media will never get somebody like me, this matrix full of, like, plastic people. I think they're already got out the artificial wombs and babies coming out because it's, like, I don't even know who people are anymore. It's so weird. It's like no one can put one and one together anymore.

"Anyway, that's why I've been going hard against, with the children. Because you change… You can't… When I first came out, I thought I was gonna be free. Eventually, you cage yourself with that. I know in my personal journey, what once freed me wound up caging me. And now I'm changing back again, but I'm a new, a more healed version of who I am because of what my spirit has put myself through. I walked through so many fires. So much adversity I've been through in my life, even in my childhood. I never even had a child. I grew up pulling heroin needles out of my father's legs and arms and hand. And you wonder why I had such a fucked up, fractured and botched childhood. No wonder why I didn't know who I was, or I had trouble with my identity in the past. I didn't love myself. I didn't love where I came from. I had holes in my soul. No one understands the depth, the pain I've endured. So think about it before you throw me shade. 'Cause I'm a kind, generous spirit. I always have been. I've been giving to this society for over 30 years while all people do is take from me and take and take and take.

"Anyway, it's turning out to be an almost 10-minute video. I only wanted to tell you that I'm off of hormones. And I'll be physically completely detransitioned in 2025. I can't wait. I feel so free.

"I don't wish being trans on my worst enemy. It's so debilitating, man. I feel bad for the parents that don't know any better, and for the children. I really do. This is a fucked up world, man. They're confusing motherfuckers too much. It's, like, let your kids play. Drugs ain't gonna fix anything. Surgery will not fix. Thank God I never did that down there. That wasn't a part of my journey anyway, 'cause I got a kick out of being a hermaphroditic hybridized entity, 'cause that's what I am. I'm all soul. I'm spirit. You're looking at flesh, but this is just beams of light traveling to put our flesh together. We're all soul, we're all energy. And that's what I did. I played with my energy because I was quite lost. So I integrated the feminine because she's always been within. And it's a play on energy. That's all life is — it's frequency, energy and vibration. And that's all I did. Just because I engaged with the feminine didn't ever make me a biological woman — ever. Ever. And I never will be. I can have all the makeup, all the surgery, I can look like I popped out of a female Sports Illustrated magazine, and that'll never make me Mother Gaia with the womb.

"I know where this emptiness comes from. It's because I have womb trauma. I never knew my mom. My mom died at 22. Again, why I grew up so fucked up with no identity. I had a crazy, crazy life, man. I know people just think I'm the singer for 'River Runs Red', but I'm not. It gets way more fucking complex than that. I'm much more than a musician. I'm way more a poet. I'm much more than a painter. I'm beyond my creative self as well.

"I hope you really sat with this and was patient enough. I didn't really mean for this to be a 12-minute video. I just wanted to tell you I'm off of hormones. I'm getting my surgery in January, and I can't fucking wait, man. That's it. And I love you. And thank you for being supportive. Thank you for not being supportive because everything teaches me. And that's what life's about. Life's about growth. Life's about change. Life is about creating change. And I am one of the greatest alchemists I know and manifestors that I know. And, man, have I been manifesting peace of mind like no other and peace of heart and peace of soul.

"That's it. Sorry it took fucking 13 minutes to, uh, get this out."

From 1989 to 2006, Mina performed and recorded under her birth name, Keith Caputo. In 2008, she began her transition and eventually made her debut as Mina on her 2013 solo album, "As Much Truth As One Can Bear". She has since recorded another solo album (2016's "Love Hard") and two more albums with LIFE OF AGONY.

According to Xtra, numerous peer-reviewed scientific studies have shown that less than one percent of the trans people who receive these surgeries regret their decision to do so. By comparison, somewhere around 14.4 percent of patients who receive other forms of surgery regret their operations.

Two days after the 2024 U.S. presidential election, Mina took to her Instagram to say that she wanted Donald Trump to win because of his plan to "stop the chemical, physical and emotional mutilation of our youth" and promise to "revoke Joe Biden's cruel policies on so-called 'gender affirming care' — a process that includes giving kids puberty blockers, mutating their physical appearance, and ultimately performing surgery on minor children."

According to USA Today, Trump made gender identity issues a focal point of his campaign, targeting transgender rights in a barrage of TV advertising, speeches and campaign rallies and indicating that elimination of those rights would be among the initial priorities of his term.
