PAPA ROACH Drops Music Video For 'Swerve' Feat. FEVER 333's JASON AALON BUTLER, Rapper SUECO

PAPA ROACH Drops Music Video For 'Swerve' Feat. FEVER 333's JASON AALON BUTLER, Rapper SUECO

California rockers PAPA ROACH have unveiled their swagger-packed motorcade music video directed by Darren Craig (SLIPKNOT, RIHANNA, BIG SEAN, JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE) for their new track "Swerve". The high-octane thrill ride featuring the outspoken frontman of FEVER 333, Jason Aalon Butler, and rising Los Angeles-based rapper Sueco is the first track pulled from the band's forthcoming studio album.

"This track came at the very end of the writing process for our upcoming album and truly feels like the culmination of years of experimenting with our sound coming back to a new version of PAPA ROACH," shares PAPA ROACH frontman Jacoby Shaddix. "Filming this music video with Jason and Sueco was one of the most fun experiences we've had and I am so excited to share it with the world."

The genre-bending banger was produced by Colin "Doc" Brittain and Nick Furlong (ALL TIME LOW, A DAY TO REMEMBER, AVICII), and features the saxophone stylings of co-collaborator Spencer Nezey, showcasing PAPA ROACH's bravado at an all-time high.

"This is one of the favorite songs I've ever made," Sueco shares on the collab. "PAPA ROACH has been an inspiration of mine since I was a kid, so working with them was super dope and a dream come true!"

Butler adds: "I've said it before and I'll say it again — this band has somehow managed to be a legacy AND relevant all at once. So, naturally, when I got the call to hop on this track there was no question. With Sueco doing his thing, the track's got three different vibes that all work together. This shit is different and that's exactly what rock needs. More DIFFERENT shit. Thanks to these modern legends for making sure it happened."

Along with the song release, PAPA ROACH also announced that it has entered into a new global distribution and marketing services agreement with ADA (WMG's independent label and artist services arm). Of the partnership, Cat Kreidich, ADA president, shares: "We couldn't be more elated to have PAPA ROACH in the ADA family. With our talented teams and strong relationships across various territories, we look forward to activating an even wider global audience, as we support them in this new musical chapter." In addition, PAPA ROACH has also reactivated its own label, New Noize Records, a second incarnation of the band's early 2000s label enterprise.

PAPA ROACH will be joining BREAKING BENJAMIN on a handful of shows this fall while also taking the stage at both the Blue Ridge Rock festival and the inaugural Rebel Rock Fest.

SCHATTENMANN presenting staggering new rock single & video

SCHATTENMANN presenting staggering new rock single & video 'Abschaum'

'Abschaum' - a groovy, catchy song with industrial influences. This new single of SCHATTENMANN comes with a lot of hit potential and great expressive statement. The German Rock outfit speeds up on the way to mainstream rock and wide perception and catching up to established acts like EISBRECHER and HÄMATOM.

With their new, third album 'Chaos', Schattenmann demonstrate unmistakably: their music becomes harder, more metallic, more multifaceted and uncompromising in terms of content. They have taken the decisive third step and move the essence of the new songs with relentless consistency into the focus of their uncompromising sound. The band has purposefully expanded their sound to include modern and fresher elements. Musically there are no restrictions, the new songs get more character through the influences of metal and industrial.

‘Chaos’ will be the decisive third step in Schattenmann’s career, moving with unyielding consistency the essence of the new material into the focus of their uncompromising sound. Herzig: “Due to the fact that almost all new songs were composed on the guitar, the material sounds more metal-oriented, heavier, you could say: it’s more crash, bang, wallop!” The Schattenmann frontman is referring to numbers such as ‘Spring’ or ‘Alles auf Anfang’, but also to ‘Abschaum’ and ‘Chaos’ with their unmistakable metal roots, which contrast with a pop-oriented number like ‘Cosima’ and Schattenmann-typical tracks such as ‘Amnestie’ and ‘Extrem’.

In line with its musically harsher pace, the lyrics on ‘Chaos’ are also honest, direct and straight-in-your-face. “Socio-critical topics are nothing new for us, ‘Generation Sex’ and ‘Amok’ on our debut already touched on a number of sore points,” Herzig explains, “but this time the lyrics are even more focussed and direct. We question things, comment on negative developments, excesses, the underbelly of society, ranging from social deficiencies to self-hatred.” He is referring to tracks like ‘Cosima’ with its underlying question of whether love is still needed in the digital age. On ‘Alman’ and ‘Abschaum’, Schattenmann highlight the positive and negative sides of society, before ‘IYFF’ focusses on another brand-hot topic: “The acronym stands for ‘In Your Fucking Face’ and addresses the deplorable trend of shitstorms on social media. Mind you, the term “social media” is a contradiction in itself. Social is definitely not what happens on the Internet a lot of the time.”

PER WIBERG Releases Official Lyric Video For New EP

PER WIBERG Releases Official Lyric Video For New EP

Swedish multi-instrumentalist Per Wiberg has unveiled an epic new lyric video companion to his solo EP, All Is Well In The Land Of The Living, But For The Rest Of Us… Lights Out, out now on Despotz Records. The twenty-plus minute video can be found below.

A sonic craftsman of the highest order, Wiberg’s work has illuminated an array of classic albums (and stages) over the years performing with the likes of Opeth, Spiritual Beggars, and Candlemass as well as Clutch/The Bakerton Group, Switchblade, and Kamchatka to name just a few. However, it’s Wiberg’s solo work that serves as the pinnacle of his odyssey through music. Over three decades of expertise culminate into a sound that is distinctly Per Wiberg’s own.

In 2019, Wiberg released his debut solo offering, Head Without Eyes, consummating his career as a musician with an eruption of soulful song. Nordic prog in a gnawing stew of jolting guitar notes, jangling bones, and emotive melodies, the recording laid bare a beautifully uncharted new terrain that outstripped the laurels of his past and solidified his strong presence as a unique solo artist in his own right.

Aptly titled for these turbulent times, Wiberg’s latest EP, All Is Well In The Land Of The Living, But For The Rest Of Us... Lights Out, is a commanding celebration of innovative rock at its best. Expanding and further evolving his vision, Wiberg adeptly paints the definitive and familiar paradigms of golden age progressive rock with spirited and electrifying twists of dark tone. Listening to a master weave his deep spells, from shadow to light, we are at once entranced and delighted in equal measure as Per Wiberg brews a potent concoction that’s captivating, catchy and forever expansive and impassioned.

From tracks like “All Is Well”, which comes across like Young Gods gone prog, to the haunting and avant-garde “But For The Rest Of Us”, which basks in dark improv in the vein of Alice Coltrane/Sun Ra, Wiberg unfolds his sound out in blankets of fresh atmosphere. “In The Land Of The Living” smashes latter era Sonic Youth alt rock into the heavy fuzzing riffs of King Crimson/Hawkwind with a bassline that has you hitting the steering-wheel across bleak highways while “Lights Out” lies on the melancholic side of Dark Side Of The Moon with Ulver at their most post-pop and early Porcupine Tree at their most anthemic. If you want to hear Swedish progressive metal taken to the next level of dark melodic exploration, you will find your black heart shrouded in a very different kind of heavy with All Is Well In The Land Of The Living...

Per Wiberg’s All Is Well In The Land Of The Living, But For The Rest Of Us... Lights Out is available on LP and digital formats. Find physical orders at this location and digital orders here.

DEFORMATORY Streaming New Single “Summoning The Cosmic Devourer”

DEFORMATORY Streaming New Single “Summoning The Cosmic Devourer”

Ottawa’s Deformatory delivers another slab from their concept album depicting an interdimensional horde seeking to consume the essence of planetary life. This narrative dives deeper into the scenery that was originally created in their previous album, Malediction (2016). Inversion Of The Unseen Horizon is broken up into three chapters and the band explains how their next single “Summoning The Cosmic Devourer” fits in:

“This chapter (II. Incursion: The Prototypal Eschaton) is written from the perspective of the Grand Arkitekt as he executes his compulsion for interdimensional domination. Witness his journey through Xuul ‘Ka, the cosmic portal he conjures to tunnel into dimensions, and the vision he has of the coming apocalypse for the Earth star. The single “Summoning The Cosmic Devourer” explores the dark art of creating Xuul ‘Ka. All life stars possess the ingredients required for the Conjuring and the path to Summoning.”

The lyrics for this album are partly inspired by The Scarlet Gospels by Clive Barker’s and guitarist and vocalist Charlie Leduc’s own interpretation and expansion of the Hellraiser mythos. This is the foundation block that helped to propel the entire concept, which was uniquely crafted and independently developed.  The single and final track on the record, “Beyond The Abhorrence” starts to draw a conclusion to the predicament of an evil race of inter-dimensional light devourers find themselves in.

A sonically relentless death metal experience, Deformatory is recommended for fans of Morbid Angel, Origin, and Hate Eternal.

Inversion Of The Unseen Horizon will be released on September 3. Pre-order on Bandcamp.

DINO CAZARES Recalls 'Spinal Tap Moment' From FEAR FACTORY's Tour With IRON MAIDEN

DINO CAZARES Recalls 'Spinal Tap Moment' From FEAR FACTORY's Tour With IRON MAIDEN

In a new interview with Bandbond, FEAR FACTORY guitarist Dino Cazares recalled a particularly funny incident from a major tour the band played in the mid-1990s. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "There was one time when we were touring with MEGADETH, and we did about five weeks with MEGADETH in the U.S. And right after the tour, we went on tour with IRON MAIDEN. And so every night, we always say on the microphone, 'Hey, thank you for having us tonight. Are you guys ready for so-and-so?' which is the headlining act. So we had just got off the MEGADETH tour. We went on to the IRON MAIDEN tour. And our singer [Burton C. Bell] says, 'Hey, thank you for having us tonight. If you wanna go to the merch table, buy some merch… Blah blah blah… Are you guys ready for MEGADETH?' And we were on tour with IRON MAIDEN. And it was really funny, because Steve Harris [IRON MAIDEN bassist] was standing on the side of the stage and I wanna say Janick Gers [IRON MAIDEN guitarist]. And they were just laughing at us, they were making fun of us, because [Burton] had one of those 'Spinal Tap' moments."

Dino also talked about the lessons he and his bandmates learned while spending time on the road with some of the biggest names in heavy metal.

"In some ways, a lot of the bands that we toured with taught us how to tour," he said. "Because some of these bands that we toured with was in the beginning of our career, or early on in our career. And just seeing how they do it and how the professionals do it, it was eye-opening. Just the knowledge of how they know how to go and direct the crowd, how the singer talks to the crowd, how the guitar player moves, the bass player, the drummer… All those things really inspired us. How they set up their stage, how they set up their gear. All that stuff really was very fun for us, because we were still learning. We were like a sponge; our mind was like a sponge. It was, like, 'Oh, wow. They did that.' 'Oh, wow. They did this.' 'Oh, okay, that's how you do that.' So all of them inspired us and all of them showed us an interesting way of how they do things and how you can learn from those things. And so they were all fun to us — all of 'em."

FEAR FACTORY's latest album, "Aggression Continuum", came out on June 18 via Nuclear Blast Records. The LP features Cazares; drummer Mike Heller; and former vocalist, lyricist, and co-founder Burton C. Bell. It was produced and engineered by Damien Rainaud (DRAGONFORCE, ONCE HUMAN), with keyboards by Igor Khoroshev (ex-YES), and programming on two songs from longtime collaborator Rhys Fulber (FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY). "Aggression Continuum" was mixed by Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, TRIVIUM), who also mixed FEAR FACTORY's previous album, 2015's "Genexus".

FATES WARNING Guitarist JIM MATHEOS's TUESDAY THE SKY: 'The Blurred Horizon' Music Video

FATES WARNING Guitarist JIM MATHEOS's TUESDAY THE SKY: 'The Blurred Horizon' Music Video

On September 3, TUESDAY THE SKY will release its new album, "The Blurred Horizon", via Metal Blade Records. The official music video for the disc's title track can be seen below.

TUESDAY THE SKY's origins could almost be considered accidental. Guitarist Jim Matheos, famed for his work with progressive metal giants FATES WARNING alongside projects such as OSI and his collaboration with John Arch, ARCH/MATHEOS, penned a few songs that did not fit in with any of his established outlets, and intrigued by this, decided to write more and see where this took him. The result was 2017's "Drift", a record that drew influence from the likes of Brian Eno, SIGUR ROS, BOARDS OF CANADA and EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY, and now he returns with its successor, "The Blurred Horizon". A mixture of ambient, electronica, post-rock and more, "The Blurred Horizon" is perhaps best described as a beautiful record, having a natural grace to it. While predominantly the work of Matheos, he is not the sole performer on the record, enlisting the help of other musicians where necessary.

"It's primarily a solo project, but with the idea of having different guests on each record to help fill it out and, hopefully, give each one a slightly different sound," Matheos says. "With the first record, there was Anna Lynne Williams on vocals for a couple of songs, and Lloyd Hanney of GOD IS AN ASTRONAUT on drums. For this one, the live drums on five tracks were handled by Gavin Harrison of THE PINEAPPLE THIEF, KING CRIMSON and PORCUPINE TREE. He's my absolute favorite drummer, so he was the first person I thought of when I decided that some of the songs could benefit from real drums. I originally was thinking of just one or two songs, but once I heard how good he made them sound, I kept asking him do more, which, thankfully, he agreed to. His playing added a whole new dimension to the songs, particularly on 'Hypneurotic', where he plays two different full drum kit takes, panned left and right, to achieve a kind of 'double drummer' effect."

"Everything Is Free" — the closing track and only one on the record to include vocals — is a cover of a Gillian Welch and David Rawlings song from 2001.

"FATES WARNING were thinking about doing some cover tunes as bonus tracks for 'Long Day Good Night' (2020), and when that didn't happen, I kept this one in mind for a future project," Matheos says. "It seemed to fit nicely here, even though it's an otherwise instrumental album, and the vocals are by Tim Bowness. Like Gavin, Tim is someone I've worked with in the past, with OSI and several other projects. He's got a beautiful voice and his gentle delivery is just what I wanted for this one."

LAURENNE/LOUHIMO Debut "Striking Like A Thunder" Music Video

LAURENNE/LOUHIMO Debut "Striking Like A Thunder" Music Video

Frontiers Music Srl recently released the debut album from one of their most exciting new projects, a collaboration between powerhouse Finnish vocalists Noora Louhimo (Battle Beast) and Netta Laurenne (Smackbound), under the banner Laurenne/Louhimo.

The Reckoning is available on CD/LP/Digital. Order/save The Reckoning here, and watch the new video for "Striking Like A Thunder" below.

"With this album, I wanted to capture the essence of classic heavy metal and hard rock and combine it with great melodies and lyrics that have value. It was clear from the beginning, having two strong voices on the album, that this album was going to be full of power, energy, attitude and emotion. I envisioned it lovingly kicking everyone’s ass, my own included, and I think it does just that. It’s pushing us to do better and evolve, yet having great empathy towards the struggles we all face as humans," says Netta Laurenne.

”My inspiration was definitely the thought of empowering and the songs giving a feeling of strength and sensitivity. And us interpreting the songs from our hearts and souls with full force, leaving no question about how passionate we are as vocalists and artists," adds Noora Louhimo.

After Perugino approached Netta about the possibility of some new projects for the label, including a duets album, Netta realized this was the perfect opportunity to fulfill her idea of a collaborative album with Noora. And now, these two incredible singers have put together a storming melodic metal album.

Exclusive: RAVENOUS Premieres English And Japanese Version Of New Single “Die 1,000 Deaths”

Exclusive: RAVENOUS Premieres English And Japanese Version Of New Single “Die 1,000 Deaths”

Canada’s Ravenous have announced that their third release Hubris is coming out this year and the first single “Die 1,000 Deaths” is out now, complete with both English and Japanese animated music videos.

“Hubris” is chock full of anthemic hits and this single may be the most fist-pumping one on the album. According to the band, the aim of the track is to give listeners the drive to break their limits and fight for every shred of glory in their lives - to always strive for the apex and conquer anything that stands in their way. Ravenous share their thoughts on the album:

“Take a journey with us to an arcade tower in Japan and experience the sensory overload equivalent to a Kaiju battle in an early-2000's anime. Die 1000 Deaths was Rav’s delirious and frantic output in the chemically imbalanced early days of the Covid-19 pandemic and underwent zero changes from its initial structure and tone. He based the lyrics off of Akuma - his favourite street fighter character - to properly represent the feeling and themes of the music. Try and stay calm as Akuma takes over your computer in the ‘Die 1000 Deaths’ video.”

This song is the perfect introduction to the album as it embodies everything the band wants to represent with the album. It’s fast, busy, symphonic, and tongue-in-cheek, featuring a whirlwind of riffs and breakdowns, three guitar solos (including a guest solo by Aether Realm guitarist Heinrich Yoshio), and was also recorded entirely in Japanese as an alternate bonus version.

Fast and frantic, the song can be coined as “very anime”, clearly inspired by Japanese Power Metal and following the Eastern Hirajoshi scale. Lyrically, the song is about a murderous figure that kills his master in pursuit of ultimate power. His only goal is to finally find a foe worthy of his full strength, and his hubris will kill all in his path in that pursuit.

“Die 1,000 Deaths” is best served with a sake bomb along with a spicy bowl of ramen and will be enjoyed by fans of Dragonforce, Galneryus, and Orden Ogan. BraveWords is premiering the video; check out both versions below:

Hubris will be released on October 22, 2021 via Feast Beast Records for North America plus Europe and for Asia via Spiritual Beast with exclusive bonus tracks. Preorders begin August 9 at Indiegogo .

HELIX Pay Tribute To Original Keyboardist DON SIMMONS, ZZ TOP Bassist DUSTY HILL With Live Performance Of "Heavy Metal Cowboys" (Video)

HELIX Pay Tribute To Original Keyboardist DON SIMMONS, ZZ TOP Bassist DUSTY HILL With Live Performance Of "Heavy Metal Cowboys" (Video)

Canadian rock veterans Helix have posted new live footage online along with the following message:

"Last Saturday night at Widder Station in Thedford, the new beautiful outdoor concert venue of Lampton Shores. This is the song we sent out to Donny Simmons, one of the original 1974 Helix line up, who passed away suddenly on the same day Dusty Hill of ZZ TOP died. We played with ZZ Top in 2019 at Rock Barcelona in Barcelona, Spain. What's the song we dedicated? Why, 'Heavy Metal Cowboys', of course!"

Don Simmons, the original founding keyboard player for Helix, passed away recently at the age of 64.

Simmons played in the original Helix band featuring singer Brian Vollmer, drummer Bruce Arnold, guitarist Ron Watson, and bassist Keith “Burt” Zurbrigg. Simmons gigged with Helix from 1974 - 1976 and was still in the group for a short time when Brent “The Doctor” Doerner joined, beginning the transformation into the modern band.

In 2004, Helix staged a massive reunion that included many of their former surviving members. The original band, including Simmons on keyboards, got up on stage for the first time in 30 years and played "Buff’s Bar Blues", a mainstay of their early sets. The show was released as the 30th Anniversary Concert.

Helix frontman Brian Vollmer paid tribute to Simmons via a Facebook post, which can be read below.

Vollmer: "Yesterday I found out through my cousin Elaine Schiestel that original Helix keyboardist Don Simmons had passed away suddenly. That makes two of the original Helix members who have died over the past couple of years; the other being guitarist Ron Watson.

Don was from Listowel and we both went to school at L.D.S.S. We had both been in a high school band called Homegrown. The drummer was Kevin Webster on drums, Larry Schneider on guitar, and Bill Bailey on bass guitar. We weren’t very good but it was a start, and  it got us playing a couple of high school dances.  Kevin decided to enter us in a contest in Kitchener, which was about 30 miles away.  The contest in question was The Battle of the Bands at the Central Ontario Exhibition. We went the night before to check out the competition, and after seeing what we were up against we wanted to crawl away and hide under a rock. These bands from Kitchener made us look & sound like rank beginners.  We were now frightened. But we played the next night anyway.  Needless to say we weren’t the high light of the competition, but we did catch the eye of some Kitchener musicians, Bruce Arnold & Rob Watson.

The first incarnation of Helix was Don Simmons/keyboards, Bruce Arnold/drums, Rick Trembly/guitar, Ron Watson/guitar, Keith Zurbrigg/bass, and myself. Rick was quickly ousted from the band by Bruce & Ron. We practiced the same 5 songs or so every night at the practice hall on Margaret Street in Kitchener above an old garage.  The main house, which was once owned by J.M. Schneider ironically enough, was rented by a band called Cerebrum. Eventually we stretched that into a couple of sets and started to get gigs through DRAM Agency. We bombed all of them, but in retrospect, we were just out of the basement. Rock and roll babies…

When William Seip entered the scene things suddenly got very serious. Our first 'road' gig was in Deep River, Ontario by Petawawa. We also played The Kap Inn in Kapuskasing, the Travelhost in Timmins, and a few other bars I’d rather forget.  Life on the road was especially tough and decidedly unglamourous.

One of our top places to play was The Sebringvilla in Sebringville. The main attraction that drew the people in for us was Donny on his keyboards playing 'Frankenstein' by Edgar Winter, 'Roundabout' by Yes, and 'Funeral For A Friend' by Elton John. Don was all in his glory and was a chick magnet. Add to that he had a hot car in his Chevy Nova, and  voila!—'rock n’ roll lifestyle!'

However, as I said, life on the road was a lot less glamorous than everyone made it out to be. Pay was shit, the rooms up north were third world, and the life itself lonely. Bruce was the first to leave the band to marry his wife Bonnie. They are still together today. Unlike Bruce, who I kept in constant contact with however, Donny went his way and I went mine. This wasn’t a conscious effort; I just didn’t know where he was or what he was doing.  Occasionally he’d surface or I’d accidentally run into him when I was visiting my parents in Listowel.

All that changed when we celebrated the 30th Anniversary concert at The Sanderson Center and the original band kicked off the show with 'The Buff’s Bar Blues'. The practices rolling up to the actual playing date were full of fuzzy warm feelings, cool vibes, and re-connecting. I could tell all the old line-up loved being in the spotlight again, even if it was only for one song on one night. I enjoyed being there with them for it. It was a special moment in my life-one I’ll never forget.

After that I seldom ran into Don. The exception was one day at a restaurant in Listowel. Don was sitting at the next table and I went over and we had a nice conversation for about 20 minutes.  I was with my mother, so I couldn’t talk any longer. That was the last time I saw him, although I tried to reach out through Bruce Arnold a couple of times, but even Bruce didn’t really know where he was or how to contact him.

I talked with Bruce yesterday and he told me that he and Donny had made many jam tapes that he hopes to do something with. He last saw Don a couple of weeks ago when he unexpectedly showed up at his house. The two of them had a nice conversation; Don looked to be in good health, and then he left.

So raise a glass to Don Simmons! He was there at the beginning, and part of the Helix story and my life. Thank you for those memories, Don.

Much love and peace on the other side."

THE ROLLING STONES Drummer CHARLIE WATTS To Sit Out Band's U.S. Tour

THE ROLLING STONES Drummer CHARLIE WATTS To Sit Out Band's U.S. Tour

THE ROLLING STONES drummer Charlie Watts won't be able to join his bandmates on their fall USA tour.

The 80-year-old musician was planning to take part in the "No Filter" trek, which is scheduled to kick off on September 26 in St. Louis. Filling in for him will be his "great friend" Steve Jordan.

"Charlie has had a procedure which was completely successful," a spokesperson the group said in a statement, "but I gather his doctors this week concluded that he now needs proper rest and recuperation. With rehearsals starting in a couple of weeks it's very disappointing to say the least, but it's also fair to say no one saw this coming."

"For once my timing has been a little off," Watts added. "I am working hard to get fully fit but I have today accepted on the advice of the experts that this will take a while. After all the fans' suffering caused by COVID I really do not want the many fans who have been holding tickets for this tour to be disappointed by another postponement or cancellation. I have therefore asked my great friend Steve Jordan to stand in for me."

Jordan, who has previously played with THE ROLLING STONES guitarist Keith Richards, said: "It is an absolute honor and a privilege to be Charlie's understudy and I am looking forward to rehearsing with Mick [Jagger], Keith and Ronnie [Wood]. No one will be happier than me to give up my seat on the drum riser as soon as Charlie tells me he is good to go."

Wood said: "I will miss Charlie on our upcoming tour, but he told me the show must go on! I'm really looking forward to Charlie getting back on stage with us as soon as he's fully recovered. A huge thank you to the band's old friend Steve Jordan for rockin' on in Charlie's place, and on his drum seat for the Autumn tour."

Although Watts isn't a founding member of THE STONES, he has been with the band since January 1963.

He battled throat cancer in 2004 but got the all clear after undergoing two operations.

The "No Filter" tour, which was originally supposed to happen last year, will hit 15 cities from September through November.

SHINEDOWN Drummer BARRY KERCH To Sit Out Beginning Of Tour After Testing Positive For COVID-19

SHINEDOWN Drummer BARRY KERCH To Sit Out Beginning Of Tour After Testing Positive For COVID-19

SHINEDOWN drummer Barry Kerch has tested positive for the novel coronavirus after being vaccinated.

The 44-year-old musician, who lives in Jacksonville, Florida, revealed his positive diagnosis in a video message earlier today.

He stated in the clip (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "In the 20 years of SHINEDOWN, I have never missed a show — until now. I regret to say that I, unfortunately, during rehearsals, contracted COVID. And before you get all crazy on me, I got fully vaxxed in April. I followed all the rules — wore masks, washed my hands, et cetera. Unfortunately, I'm one of those ones that got it even though I was vaxxed. So, unfortunately, I'm still testing positive. I'm quarantined. My health is good, which is good news. I've had symptoms, but I'm okay, and I will be okay. But until I finish my quarantine and test's negative, I'm stuck in these four walls. I can't risk it for my band and my crew; they're all doing fine."

He continued: "That being said, woe is me — move on. The shows are still gonna happen. Our good friend Dustin Steinke — I remember him from a wonderful band called SIXX:A.M. — he's gonna be filling in for me. And he's gonna kick ass, and the band's gonna kick ass. And I'm happy that the shows can continue on. And as soon as I'm healthy and able, I'll get back out there. So that's the news, folks. Till next time."

Kerch, like many others, is showing that while vaccines are exceptionally effective in preventing death and severe illness from the coronavirus and its known variants, some are far from foolproof in preventing infection altogether.

Most of the people with so-called "breakthrough" infections are asymptomatic.

According to Centers For Disease Control And Prevention (CDC), large-scale clinical studies found that COVID-19 vaccination prevented most people from getting COVID-19. Research also provides growing evidence that mRNA COVID-19 vaccines (Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna) offer similar protection in real-world conditions. While these vaccines are effective, no vaccine prevents illness 100% of the time. For any vaccine, there are breakthrough cases.

New variants of the virus that causes COVID-19 illness are spreading in the United States and other countries. Current data suggest that COVID-19 vaccines authorized for use in the United States offer protection against most variants. However, some variants might cause illness in some people after they are fully vaccinated.

SHINEDOWN is scheduled to play the Mississippi Valley Fair in Davenport, Iowa tonight (Thursday, August 5) before playing seven more shows in August and then returning to the road in early September.

A KILLER'S CONFESSION Release New Video / Single Featuring CHAD GRAY

A KILLER'S CONFESSION Release New Video / Single Featuring CHAD GRAY

A Killer's Confession, the band led by vocalist Waylon Reavis, have released its brand new single “Tell Your Soul", featuring Hellyeah and Mudvayne vocalist Chad Gray today via Wake Up! Music Rocks. The single is from the band's third album, Remember, coming out later this year.

“This song was an amazing collaboration between Sahaj Ticotin, Chad Gray, and myself,” states Waylon Reavis. "It was an honor to work with such true professional artists on such a powerful song. I hope everyone can feel the raw emotion and are moved just like I am when they listen. This song is about forgiveness and acceptance of one's own shortcomings. I want to thank Chad and Sahaj for being such great friends and recording this song with me. Wombat absolutely crushed this video. Amazing talent all the way around!"

“Waylon has wanted to do a song with me for a very long time, and earlier this year, we tried, but the song just didn’t fit either one of us,” says Chad Gray. “So we went back to the drawing board with Sahaj Ticotin. The song really spoke to me, so we went for it. Everything just seems to fall into place. I’m really excited about this release. My boy Wombat absolutely killed the video. I’m stoked for this song to drop. It’s a nice prelude to some more solo stuff I have on the way. I can’t wait for you all to hear this. Enjoy.”

A Killer's Confession is on tour now with Gemini Syndrome. This summer, the band will be playing several festivals, including Orlando Metal Fest, Metal In The Mountains, Incarceration Festival (with Mudvayne), and a sold-out hometown show in Akron, OH, on August 6th to celebrate the release of the new single.

GRAND CADAVER Feat. Members Of DARK TRANQUILLITY, KATATONIA Announce Debut Album

GRAND CADAVER Feat. Members Of DARK TRANQUILLITY, KATATONIA Announce Debut Album

Into The Maw Of Death - the debut full-length album from Grand Cadaver will be released October 29th on Majestic Mountain Records.

Hot on the heels of last year’s critically acclaimed debut EP, Madness Comes, Swedish death metal assembly, Grand Cadaver, return with a brand-new single and update on their debut album.

Featuring guitarists Stefan Lagergren (The Grifted, Treblinka, Expulsion) and Alex Stjernfeldt (Novarupta, Let Them Hang), drummer Daniel Liljekvist (Disrupted, Katatonia), Pagandom bassist Christian Jansson, and vocals from Dark Tranquillity’s Mikael Stanne, the band draws together some of the finest musicians the Swedish metal scene has to offer.

“I heard two songs from an early demo, and I just knew I had to work with them,” explains Majestic Mountain Records’ Marco Berg. “I was blown away! Grand Cadaver honours old-school death metal but put their own spin on it and the production is some of the heaviest I have heard in years.”

New single "Reign Through Fire’"is a sprawling death metal dirge driven deftly around the historic circuitry of Marshall stacks and HM-2s. Where traditional thrash metal meets Stockholm Death Metal, consuming doom and progressive rock along the way, Grand Cadaver was established to celebrate the legacy of extreme music, while seizing the moment to hang out, drink beers and share riffs and great music with friends and close allies.

LEVERAGE To Release Above The Beyond Album In October; "Emperor" Music Video Streaming

LEVERAGE To Release Above The Beyond Album In October; "Emperor" Music Video Streaming

Frontiers Music Srl announces the upcoming release of Leverage's new album, Above The Beyond, on October 15. Today, fans can get their first taste of the new album with the release of the new single and music video, "Emperor". Watch the video below, and pre-order/save Above The Beyond here.

Leverage continue to showcase their contemporary heavy rock sound on their new album, Above The Beyond, which takes influence from the golden past while still offering their own unique personality. Plenty of ear-catching melodies delivered skillfully with pristine production on the band’s latest album.

"We’re a heavy rock band. Our music has echoes dating back all the way to the '70s, like it always has. On the new album, that heritage is heard louder and clearer than ever before. It has tons of guitars, riffs, choruses, choirs, and solos. All the goods," says guitarist Tuomas Heikkinen of the band's upcoming release. "What makes our trademark sound is the mix of shadow and light, simple and complex, old and modern. And I trust we have now  polished that approach with the Leverage MK 2 line-up."

"I am happy and proud of everything we’ve ever done. Yet somehow this new album is very special. Musically, I feel we have gone full circle. I sense a lot of the ”Tides” vibes on it, only almost 20 years later. It's all about the music, not trying to fit in a box, not purposely cover some ground, or take steps away from something," he continues.

Leverage first landed on the scene in 2006 with the independent release of their debut album, Tides. With their blend of symphonic metal and melodic hard rock, with some progressive metal twists, they created a buzz on the scene and were signed by Frontiers for the release of their second album, Blind Fire in 2008, before moving to Universal/Spinefarm for their next album, Circus Colossus (2009). The band became inactive not too long after the release of that third album though, sadly leaving fans craving more music from the band.

In 2018, Leverage returned with a new lineup featuring an amazing new singer Kimmo Blom (ex-Urban Tale, Raskasta Joulua) and a new guitar player Mikko Salovaara. They first released an EP, The Devil’s Turn and then a full-length, Determinus. The band showcased that they are still able to cover a pretty wide ground musically. Again, not power metal, not AOR, not thrash. Just great heavy rock with stunning melodies. That same result is also evident on their new record, Above The Beyond.

HUMBLE PIE - New 7” Vinyl / Digital Single Commemorates Band’s Fiery Performance Of "I Don't Need No Doctor"

HUMBLE PIE - New 7” Vinyl / Digital Single Commemorates Band’s Fiery Performance Of "I Don't Need No Doctor"

In 1973 and throughout much of the early ‘70s, British blues rock powerhouse Humble Pie had as the centerpiece of their widely hailed and massively popular live show an epic, barnstorming blues rock cover of the 1966 R&B tune penned by Nick Ashford (of Ashford & Simpson), “I Don’t Need No Doctor”.

In the hands (and voice) of vocalist Steve Marriott, the song would explode on the stage with a galloping drum beat and glorious backup vocals, breaking down in the middle for some extended guitar solos by the group’s two six-string slingers before Marriott would return to lead the crowd in a joyful call-and-response singing of the chorus like he was leading an old tent revival of spiritual ecstasy.

So extraordinary was the band’s live version of the song, they never even attempted a studio version, however, an edited version of the band’s 1971 performance was released as a single and issue on 7”. Now, another even more fiery performance of the track, from the band’s 1973 concert at San Francisco’s Winterland Ballroom has been edited down and prepared for release on a limited edition 7” vinyl as well as on all digital music platforms.

Stream/download the single here.

This new 7” comes in your choice of either silver or purple vinyl and includes a smokin’ hot studio version of another Humble Pie cover on the b-side, James Brown’s “Think”.

WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM Release Official Video For New Song "Primal Chasm (Gift Of Fire)"

WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM Release Official Video For New Song "Primal Chasm (Gift Of Fire)"

Two decades into their journey as ritualistic black metal conjurers, Wolves In The Throne Room have emerged from the forest with Primordial Arcana, their most majestic album to date, and their first release via Century Media Records (outside of US and Canada) and Relapse Records (US and Canada) out August 20.

In the visuals, Wolves In The Throne Room are taking us on a journey through Cascadia, a bioregion that has been highly influential for the band’s aesthetics and sound. From the forests in “Mountain Magick” and rivers and streams in “Spirit of Lightning” we are following them to the ocean in their latest video for “Primal Chasm (Gift Of Fire)”.

The band comments: “’Primal Chasm (Gift Of Fire)’ is an explosion of cosmic grandeur, a symphonic rendering of the hermetic maxim As above, so below. The lyrics are a dreamtime retelling of creation. The act of the universe creating itself comes from the same impulse—it all springs from the same source, the same union of fire and ice. It’s the interplay between polarized opposites, and it’s from their contradiction and chaos that life happens and music and the planets are created.”

Primordial Arcana is the band’s first completely self-contained work: In addition to composition and performance, brothers Aaron and Nathan Weaver alongside guitarist Kody Keyworth handled all aspects of recording, producing and mixing at their own Owl Lodge Studios in the woods of Washington state.

Primordial Arcana is out August 20 via Century Media Records outside of USA/Canada and available in the following formats with the Ltd. Gatefold 2LP & LP-Booklet & Poster variants being cut to 45rpm and coming with an additional track, “Skyclad Passage”:

Today, the band invites fans to come together in a worldwide "stomp" showdown. Recently, the band united international fans in lockdown by asking them to submit a video of themselves performing a signature "stomp" and star in the official "Buried Underground" music video. Show Alien Weaponry your stomp! Make sure to hashtag #AWburiedunderground and tag the band for a chance to have your stomp shared with the world via the band's social media!

Watch the brand new fan-driven official music video for “Buried Underground”:

Alien Weaponry are poised to dominate with Tangaroa. The album coalesces the band’s growing maturation with an undisturbed songwriting process, resulting in their most inspired, honest and informed material yet. Tangaroa is immersed in important historical accounts and cultural heritage of the Māori people – in addition to lyrics written in te reo Māori, many tracks feature traditional instruments, called taonga puoro, providing the tracks their own warrior-like attitude. Rhythmic, dynamic album opener “Titokowaru” begins with determined rowing chants and depicts the tale of a famous war chief that challenged the colonial government in New Zealand and led a rebel army, backed by quick riffage and driving drums. Following standout “Hatupatu”, inspired by the harrowing, legendary tale of a de Jong ancestor facing off with a witch, is carried by frenzied guitars, spirited chanting and tribal-like percussion. While Alien Weaponry sourced inspiration from their culture and environmental surroundings while writing most of Tangaroa, the band also looked inward – drawing vision for other portions of the album from within. The album dives into some of their most effecting personal experiences, with English-language songs like the pensive “Unforgiving”.

Accented by personal touches like its entrancing album art originally conceptualized from drawings by Lewis de Jong, Tangaroa is a massive next step for a band on the rise, encompassing all of the elements that make Alien Weaponry heavy metal’s most authentic rising stars.

Tangaroa will be available in the following formats:

- 4 page CD Digipack
- 4 page CD Digipack + Patch
- 2LP Gatefold Black
- 2LP Gatefold Turquoise
- 2LP Gatefold Marble Light Blue/Cream (Napalm Mailorder only - limited to 500)

CELLAR STONE Signs With ROAR! Rock Of Angels Records

CELLAR STONE Signs With ROAR! Rock Of Angels Records

Cellar Stone has signed a multi-album deal with ROAR! Rock of Angels.

The genesis of Cellar Stone was sparked by a conversation between guitarist/songwriter George Maroulees and vocalist Aris Pirris. The two of them immediately started to work on an album around 2018. After a while Akis Rooster - bass and George Karlis - drums joined in and the line-up finally completed.

Each member has many miles under their belts, from working with established Greek bands such as, Diviner, The Slayerking, Persona Non Grata and 4Bitten. Having toured and opened the shows for bands the likes of UFO, MSG, Black Star Riders, Avatarium, Uriah Heep, Firewind, Spiritual Beggars, Uli John Roth & Candlemass  just  to name a few, these four guys came together to make Cellar Stone far from being new to the scene and a force to be reckoned in with.

Hailing from Athens, Greece and influenced by the rock and metal giants of the ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s such as Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Alice In Chains, as well as the bands of today like Black Stone Cherry, Shinedown, Stone Sour and Alter Bridge, they are making their own statement in a characteristic way. Choruses that stick, a pandemonium of guitar harmonies and riffs and a rhythm section that grabs at you, the band is setting the scene and they won’t go unnoticed. With live gigs already under their belt, they have begun to build their fan base.

Their first full-length album One Fine Day was released in May 2020.

Cellar Stone is:
Aris Pirris – Vocals
George Maroulees – Guitar
Akis Rooster – Bass
George Karlis – Drums

Canada’s CRYSTAL FAITH Pay Tribute To DIO With “Rainbow In The Dark” Cover

Canada’s CRYSTAL FAITH Pay Tribute To DIO With “Rainbow In The Dark” Cover

After months of silence, Canada's heavy philosophers Crystal Faith have returned with a grand offering to the Metal Gods as they release their new single, “Rainbow In The Dark”. A huge hit for heavy metal band Dio in 1983, it was a top 20 hit on Bilboard's Album Rock Tracks that year and became a staple of every live performance by singer Ronnie James Dio until he joined, in heaven, the pantheon of heavy metal gods in 2010.  Crystal Faith originally planned to record and release the song in the spring of 2020, following their April outing of “We Are Hope”, but it was not to be.

They have been working for most of this year on their upcoming first full album (they released a mini-album in December 2019 entitled Welcome Back) and decided to release a single before the month of September, period when said album is expected to be completed and available.  The band delivers an excellent rendition of the classic “Rainbow In The Dark”, complete with an air-siren, power-vocal performance, a metal-shredding, finger-ripping guitar solo and a dependable, heavy and steadfast bass, all rendered masterfully under the direction of producer and band leader, Erik Simard.

Although the lyrics of the song lean more on the dark side, Crystal Faith's Simard used the image of the title as a metaphor for bringing brightness in dark times, as the final words from his interview of the May 2021 announcement revealed; it then became the inspiration for the narrative's direction of the video, under the direction of lead singer Patrice Lord.

As the song pays tribute to its ‘80s heavy metal roots, it is accompanied by a light-hearted video titled “Be A Rainbow In The Dark”, where a colorful angel delivers to the confined, black-and-white, band members their instruments, bringing colour and creativity into their lives, which ends up being the song we are listening to.  The video features upcoming hip-hop artist Tha Lord as the beautiful angel, all dressed in white with a bandana around his head for his halo.

HEXENKLAD Feat. Former Members Of ECLIPSE ETERNAL, BATTLESOUL And PAGAN RITUAL Release “Heathenheart” Guitar Playthrough Video

Canadian folk black metal band Hexenklad (ft. members of SIG:AR:TYR, Eclipse Eternal, Pagan Ritual) recently unleashed their second album Heathenheart via CDN Records on July 23. The 13 track album has something for everyone, from the chilling black metal “Cold Beauty Of Winter” to the mid-tempo headbanger “Dark Moon In Capricorn” to the instrumental ”A Forest Of Dead Trees” to the acoustic “We Raise A Horn”. This variance makes Hexenklad shine, their versatility is a true display of their talent and passion.

Hexenklad has a very distinct chemistry, which is only amplified by years of experience in music. Almost everyone in the band comes from another band in the Ontario metal scene including Eclipse Eternal, Pagan Ritual, Battlesoul and Of Hatred Spawn. The album also features several local guests including Emmanuel “Audeath” Audet (Black Empire/Winterfog); Nick Sauter (Treats for Addicts) and Alex Chalmers.

“This album was written very differently than the first album, which was mostly written by Hexenklad’s founder Michael Grund. It was very organic and the songs just grew together. Guitar parts were written first by both Michael and John with a few ideas put in by myself. Then drums were added by Andrew. Once those were all down and arranged, and then rearranged until everything flowed and made sense, then I let the melodies tell me what the songs were about and wrote the lyrics. Once we had the guitars, drums and vocal parts recorded, then the keyboards and bass were added.” adds the band.

Today, Hexenklad guitarist John Chalmers shares his playthrough for the album's title track.

Chalmers adds:

"‘Heathenheart’ is a folk metal anthem.  As soon as it started to come together, we knew this had to be the single we released first. It is just so memorable and so poignant and relevant to the times we are all going through.  It is a song about being alone, yet all connected.  All Lone Wolves yet all part of a larger pack. About protecting and raising each other up. The song feels like its message. It is uplifting, powerful, memorable, anthemic."

As a whole Heathenheart is an intense black metal-influenced folk metal album full of heathen anthems to raise a horn to. The heathen’s heart is full of chaos, creation through destruction, Hagalaz, and this is a journey into it.

Heathenheart is recommended for fans of Amon Amarth, Ensiferum, and Insomnium. Order the album via CDN Records here.

NANOWAR OF STEEL Explore The Art Of Tax Fraud In New Animated Lyric Video For "Sulle Aliquote Della Libertà"

NANOWAR OF STEEL Explore The Art Of Tax Fraud In New Animated Lyric Video For "Sulle Aliquote Della Libertà"

Have you ever wondered how to avoid paying taxes while actually getting away with it? Well, you’re in luck! Nanowar Of Steel are here to teach you about the art of tax fraud! Not only is "Sulle Aliquote della Libertà" a joyful and upbeat tune that will make you move right from the start, but it’s also filled with loads of sage advice to prepare you for your next tax fraud experience.

Nanowar Of Steel on the song: "'Sulle Aliquote della Libertà' (AKA On the Tax Rates of Freedom) is a song about Italy's national hobby, tax evasion. It tells the story of two accountants, a story that takes place in Berlusconi's home region in the North on a Pizzica-style kind of music (typical of the southern region of Puglia), to properly pay tribute to a practice that characterizes our peninsula in full. Listen to the song and learn the ancient art of not paying money to the State with Nanowar Of Steel!"

Watch the animated lyric video for "Sulle Aliquote Della Libertà":

"Sulle Aliquote Della Libertà" is featured on the band's new album. Each song on Italian Folk Metal is performed in a distinct style of Italian folk music: Napoli-based sounds of musica neomelodica clash with melodic guitar sweeps on “Scugnizzi of the Land of Fires" and speedy accordions (prominently known from northern Italy‘s mazurka) are layered with dizzying guitar solos on “La Mazurka del Vecchio che Guarda i Cantieri".

Mixed with the band‘s eclectic, comprehensive brand of catchy, comedy-infused metal, Italian Folk Metal is a truly multi-faceted listening experience and a deep dive into the roots of Italy’s folklore! In the process of recording the new album in Rome and Milan during the summer of 2020, Nanowar Of Steel took the Italian-focused theme as an opportunity to gather Italy’s crème de la creme of musicianship: the album features Francesco Paoli from Fleshgod Apocalypse on “L’assedio di Porto Cervo”, Alessandro Conti of Luca Turilli's Rhapsody and Trick Or Treat fame on “La Mazurka del Vecchio che Guarda i Cantieri” and Frozen Crown’s Jade on “Rosario", among others. Italian Folk Metal showcases Nanowar Of Steel’s musical versatility at its best!

Watch VINCE NEIL Return To Live Stage After Disastrous Performance At Iowa Festival

Watch VINCE NEIL Return To Live Stage After Disastrous Performance At Iowa Festival

Video footage of MÖTLEY CRÜE singer Vince Neil performing the band's classic songs "Dr. Feelgood" and "Looks That Kill" at a private concert last night (Thursday, August 5) in Austin, Texas can be seen below. Also appearing at the event was Sammy Hagar, according to SiriusXM radio personality Eddie Trunk, who shared the clips on his Instagram page.

Last night's show came more than two months after Neil struggled to complete his solo concert at the Boone Iowa River Valley Festival in Boone. Based on fan-filmed video footage of the gig posted on YouTube, the 60-year-old rocker, who hadn't performed in more than a year and a half due to the COVID-19 pandemic, began losing his voice several songs into his set, which consisted exclusively of CRÜE classics and cover songs previously recorded by the band.

14 songs into the performance, Vince attempted to sing CRÜE's smash hit "Girls, Girls, Girls" but gave up mid-song, explaining to the crowd: "Hey, guys… I'm sorry, you guys. It's been a long time playin'. My fuckin' voice is gone… Eh… We love you, and we'll hopefully see you next time, man. Take care."

After Neil walked off the stage, his backing band — which still consists of bassist Dana Strum and guitarist Jeff "Blando" Bland from SLAUGHTER, along with drummer Zoltan Chaney — continued to play the song, singing along to what appeared to be pre-recorded backing vocals.

MÖTLEY CRÜE's "The Stadium Tour" with DEF LEPPARD, POISON and JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS was originally scheduled to take place last summer but ended up being pushed back to 2021, and then to 2022, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In December 2019, CRÜE manager Allen Kovac told Fox Business that "some of" the bandmembers had enlisted outside help to get in shape for the trek. Kovac was referring to criticism of Neil for his supposed diminished singing ability and weight gain, as well as the health status of guitarist Mick Mars, who has been dealing with a chronic form of arthritis that led him to undergo a hip replacement.

Kovac explained: "Some of them are working with a trainer, some of them are working with a nutritionist to make themselves the best they can be. The greatest insecurity for an artist is: Is anyone going to care about my music? Is anyone going to buy a ticket? We were in November [2019] when the discussions were happening, and these guys were already into regimens of how they get ready for a tour."

Speaking specifically about Neil, Kovac added: "Let's see what Vince sings like and looks like when the tour goes out."

CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx also said that Vince was "killing it" while working with "trainers" and "nutritionists" in preparation for "The Stadium Tour".

ENSLAVED Announces New EP 'Caravans To The Outer Worlds'

ENSLAVED Announces New EP 'Caravans To The Outer Worlds'

Norwegian metal avant-gardists ENSLAVED will release a new EP, "Caravan To The Outer Worlds", on October 1 via Nuclear Blast. According to a press release, the four-song effort "is a tale of departure, of leaving behind a barren and desolate world, travelling boldly into the future."

ENSLAVED's Ivar Bjørnson comments: "This is the story that wanted to be told, and this is music that demanded to be heard. Who are we to question that? After 'Utgard', the path ahead cleared itself — and we followed; past, present and future melted together in an EP that marks one giant leap for us. Into…"

Watch the video for EP title track, "Caravans To The Outer Worlds", below.

The "Caravans To The Outer Worlds" EP contains neck-breaking riffage that points backwards to the raw beginnings of ENSLAVED — the title track marking an explosive lift-off with melodic breakaways and proggy slingshots onto new orbits, while the ominous "Ruun II: The Epitaph" takes a somber dive into the murky and mysterious ocean of stars beyond the known. These two main pieces are framed by two intermezzos: "Intermezzo I: Lönnlig. Gudlig." and "Intermezzo II: The Navigator", wrapping up the main stories with respectively what came before and what is to come.

"Caravans To The Outer Worlds" EP track listing:

01. Caravans To The Outer Worlds

02. Intermezzo I: Lonnlig. Gudlig.

03. Ruun II - The Epitaph

04. Intermezzo II: The Navigator

ENSLAVED's latest album, "Utgard", was released in October 2019 via Nuclear Blast.

Yesterday it was announced that FEAR FACTORY's Dino Cazares will play guitar for SOULFLY on the Max Cavalera-fronted band's upcoming U.S. tour. The 33-date trek kicks off on August 20 in Albuquerque, New Mexico and will make stops in New York, Chicago and Austin before concluding in Tempe, Arizona on September 25. The final date will be a family celebration as it will include performances by INCITE, GO AHEAD AND DIE and HEALING MAGIC. Joining the band for select dates are NIVIANE and SUICIDE PUPPETS.

Rizzo has not yet publicly commented on his apparent exit from SOULFLY.

Back in 2018, Max praised Rizzo, telling "The Classic Metal Show": "He loves what he does; he loves playing in SOULFLY; he loves working with me. We are totally connected. He gives 150 percent every show, no matter if there's ten people or ten thousand, which is rare. Sometimes when there's not a lot of people, it's hard to go out there and still be excited and he does it. I do believe he's underrated big-time, but I'm kind of happy about that because if he gets too big, then he will go away. He will join a big band. I'll be out looking for another guitar player and it would suck. It would really suck to lose Marc. I'm kind of happy. It's almost like a secret thing that we have, this treasure that we have. He's fantastic. He's an amazing guitar player. I sit sometimes around the dressing room just to hear him play. Just go in the dressing room to hang out while he's practicing just to hear him playing some of the flamenco sections in the dressing room or when he's just shredding. He's killer. He is a true, true guitar hero."

GUNS N' ROSES Officially Releases Studio Version Of New Song 'Absurd'

GUNS N' ROSES Officially Releases Studio Version Of New Song 'Absurd'

GUNS N' ROSES has officially released a new song called "Absurd" across all digital music providers. You can listen to it below.

The studio version of "Absurd" — which is a reworked version of a previously unreleased GN'R track called "Silkworms" — arrives three days after the band performed the tune live for the first time during its concert at Boston's Fenway Park.

"Some of you might have heard this under another name, but this is really kind of absurd to try this," singer Axl Rose said while introducing the track. "Wasn't that funny? And they don't even know the joke yet. Okay, this is called 'Absurd'."

After playing the song, Rose quipped: "See? I never run out of love songs. That was fun. So you heard it here first, a new GUNS N' ROSES song."

GUNS N' ROSES last performed "Silkworms", which was reportedly written during the "Chinese Democracy" sessions, in 2001.

GUNS N' ROSES kicked off its summer 2021 tour on July 31 at Hersheypark Stadium in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Dubbed "We're F'N Back!", this trek comes on the heels of the "Not In This Lifetime" run that began in April 2016 and became the No. 3 highest-grossing tour in the history of Billboard Boxscore.

As was the case with "Not In This Lifetime", the current GUNS N' ROSES tour features classic-lineup members Slash (guitar), Duff McKagan (bass) and Rose backed by guitarist Richard Fortus, drummer Frank Ferrer, keyboardist Dizzy Reed and second keyboardist Melissa Reese.

The massive touring production will make stops in Detroit, Los Angeles, Dallas, Chicago, and more before wrapping up with two shows in Hollywood, Florida, at the Hard Rock Live Arena on October 2 and 3, 2021.

GUNS launched its long-rumored and long-awaited reunion tour with an April 2016 club show in Hollywood and appearances in Las Vegas and at California's Coachella festival.

The band is now reportedly working on a new studio album — the first under the GUNS banner since 2008's "Chinese Democracy" and the first to feature Rose, Slash and McKagan since 1993.

MADBALL Won't Play Shows Where Proof Of Vaccine Is Required

MADBALL Won't Play Shows Where Proof Of Vaccine Is Required

New York hardcore veterans MADBALL have said that they will not perform in any venue that require audience members to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

The band touched upon the hot-button issue while updating fans on the status of MADBALL's previously announced August 14 concert at Irving Plaza in New York.

Earlier today, the group took to its Instagram to write: "Heads up NYC : We've been asked a bunch if Irving is still happening... the answer is YES! That said, in light of the new rules that will be implemented in the city, this will likely be the last show we play here for a very long time. Sad to say.

"We truly respect whatever decisions people make with their bodies but we cannot in good conscience play shows that require personal/private medical information (like vaccination status) for entry.

"We have a special set list we're working on. This show will be bittersweet.. let's make it memorable! There's still some tickets available.. grab em up while you can! #weloveyounyc #fight #tryanny #hclives.

"FYI - this show will NOT require proof of vaccination since some are asking! The rule goes in effect soon after though."

Earlier this week, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that New York will be the first U.S. city to to require COVID-19 vaccinations for concert attendees, although the city will not enforce the mandate until mid-September. Proof of at least partial vaccination will be required.

A vaccine passport is a physical or digital document that displays whether someone is fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Critics say that such passports are a violation of privacy and an example of government overreach. Meanwhile, supporters point out that federal immigration law already requires that immigrants provide proof of vaccination status for several diseases.

There's plenty of precedent for having to show proof of vaccination whether for work or travel. For a century, nearly every school in the U.S. has been requiring proof of vaccinations for students to enroll. Dozens of countries across the globe require a "Yellow Fever Card" to enter their borders.

Proponents of vaccine passports, including several high-profile heavy metal musicians, have touted them as one of the most effective ways to reopen the nation's economy in a safe manner.

This past April, TWISTED SISTER frontman Dee Snider said that he was in favor of some kind of a coronavirus vaccine passport program whereby concert venues can ask patrons to show proof of testing or vaccination before attending certain events. Snider addressed the hot-button issue in a tweet, writing: "I get that some people are wary of this, but I want a vaccine passport in the worst fucking way! I wave my vaccination card around like a flag! I've got nothing to hide and if a vaccine passport will let me go places without all these covid protocols sign me the fuck up!"

Earlier that same month, TESTAMENT guitarist Alex Skolnick said that the recent announcement by various clubs and promoters around the country that they would begin staging events for only those guests who show proof of full vaccination was "what we need to do." He explained: "To go to certain countries, we need to get a yellow fever shot, and we carry this card that's put out by the World Health Organization that is proof of vaccination. What's the difference? We've been doing this for years. We wouldn't think otherwise. We don't wanna risk getting somebody else sick. So why would there be an issue here? And then, when people complain about the vaccine — 'I don't know what's in it. I'm suspicious…' Well, are you suspicious of the polio vaccine? 'Cause I think everybody gets that. I don't think you leave the hospital without getting certain vaccines."

Alex added: "I'm just amazed how people aren't aware of this. There's measles, mumps, polio… There's vaccines that we've been getting for years, and that's why we're not getting measles or mumps, or why we're not being forced to not be able to walk because of polio — because we get these vaccines. And the same medical and scientific communities that are behind those vaccines are behind these vaccines.

"My patience is running thin for these types," Skolnick concluded.
