SOMBRIA Release New Single / Video "Voyage Into Lethe"Sombria is a dark, melancholic metal project formed by singer / songwriter Dimi De San, who works under the name Valentina Devin, and guitarist / composer Raven Seven. The band has an international line-up featuring members from Norway, Greece and Mexico. They are set to release their debut album, Chirographon Dei, on November 27th via Inverse Records.
The band has released their second single and music video, "Voyage Into Lethe". Check it out below.
"'Voyage Into Lethe' is a piece that regards to a very desperate and suffocating struggle to release one's self and emerge into oblivion and freedom after a terrible experience. This is the first song we wrote as Sombria which signifies our entrance into a whole different era as musicians and as individuals. A new blood -stained beginning that a soul can make, leading to a road of infinite possibilities and even uncanny secrets."
Pre-save Sombria's Chirographon Dei album on Spotify here.
Dimi De San’s music path started on 2012 with the formation of the band Caelestia which had been leading up to 2019. Then she decided to leave and join forces with Raven Seven creating Sombria .
Both musicians have worked with big names of the metal industry like Toni Lindgren from Fascination Street Studios and Fredrik Nordström, Bjorn "Speed" Strid of Soilwork, drummer Markus ‘’Makka’’ Freiwald of Sodom, and collaborated with big artists and directors like Seth Siro Anthon (Septicflesh, Paradise Lost, Moonspell) , Gogo Melone (Aeonian Sorrow) and Matthias Kolleg (Kreator, Lacrimosa).
Their live appearances are numerous appearing with important bands like Katatonia, Arch Enemy, Insomnium, Draconian among others, including Raven Seven's very succesfull collaborations at big metal festivals. Dimi's successful tour in 2019 with Norwegian Vulture Industries, Hellheim and Madder Mortem marked the beginning of Sombria as a life project.
Its main purpose apart from featuring music, acting and dancing is aiming to raise awareness - through their music, lyrics and performances - over many sensitive subjects like child poverty, environmental issues, equality, and also focusing on helping people in need as much as possible.
Chirographon Dei is Sombria's debut full length album consisting of nine songs, recorded, mixed and mastered by Raven Seven in his studio. All songs were composed by Raven Seven, the lyrics were written by Dimi De San.

Former LEAVES' EYES Vocalist LIV KRISTINE Reveals First Details Of New EPVocalist Liv Kristine (ex-Leaves' Eyes, ex-Theatre of Tragedy) has revealed that her forthcoming EP, which is currently in the works, will feature four brand new songs written with Theatre Of Tragedy bandmate Tommy Olsson, and five live tracks from her 2019 performance in Nagold, Germany. More details will be revealed this coming weekend.
On April 15th, 2016, fans of Leaves’ Eyes were shocked to learn the band had parted ways with vocalist and namesake Liv Kristine Espenæs. In the same breath, the band announced that Finnish singer Elina Siirala of the band EnkElination would take Liv’s place. Given that Leaves’ Eyes had centered around Liv Kristine and her husband / Atrocity frontman Alexander Krull since the band’s inception in 2003 – in the wake of Liv being fired from Theater of Tragedy – it was clear the issues leading to the split were personal as well as professional. It would take some time for the dust to settle, as both sides shared different accounts of what led to the split, but Leaves’ Eyes forged onward with Siirala up front and a significant wave of fan discontent on their tails. For her part, Liv gradually went quiet, making guest appearances on Cradle Of Filth’s “Vengeful Spirit”, Orden Ogan’s “Come With Me To The Other Side” in 2017, and Midnattsol’s album The Aftermath in 2018, but otherwise stayed away from putting out new music. In December 2019, however, she released a new solo single, “Skylight”, which was reminiscent of her Vervain solo record from 2014 and Theatre of Tragedy’s classic third album, Aegis.
“After a few ups and down – a few roller-coaster rides to put it mildly, since I moved to Germany 20 years ago – I decided to start all anew,” Liv says of her comeback. “I practically left everything, cleared all relationships, situations, or ended them. In 2019, I felt the spirit again to continue working on my own music. It was Tommy Olsson (guitarist / ex-Theatre of Tragedy) who reached out in 2016 with a handful of songs that really blew me away. He’s been very patient and supportive throughout my journey, and I have the best composer by my side. I just want to do the music which I love, which I am fully in alignment with. My upcoming solo album is a collaboration with Tommy. It’s in the veins of Vervain, but not at all like it. It is inspired by Tommy’s masterpiece, Aegis.”
Liv has always been a live performer and she makes it clear she will continue to do so as things get back on track. This begs the question as to whether any Leaves’ Eyes material will make it into her set. It’s a painful subject to be sure, but she left behind a legacy of six studio albums that would not exist without her vision.
“My setlist consists of two thirds solo songs, one third Theatre of Tragedy songs,” Liv reveals. “I could play Leaves’ Eyes songs since the band carries my name, but it feels strange, like a loss, which I feel really sorry about. I was thrown out of my own band, period, and that is just not right, especially because I never received any compensation, nor did anybody ask me about name rights. I wish the remaining two members would change the band’s name and do their own thing. None of them ever created a concept and wrote lyrics based on their personal history and birthplace, passion for Norway, and Norse writings. That part was mine, and it was passion, heritage and so much of me in there. The latest brilliant idea the band’s manager had was sending my family a bill of thousands of euros for Christmas. Well, I wish them good luck. Karma is great, by the way. What you give is what will return to you. But, I can’t tell you how endlessly happy I am with what I have today. Everything was and is meant to be.”

All songs, guitar, bass, drums, recording & mixing by Mick Murphy. Recorded at The Magick Room in Knoxville, TN - 2020. Cover artwork by Tairrie B. Murphy.
My Ruin vocalist Tairrie B. Murphy recently checked in with the following update:
"My Ruin originally recorded our cover of the Mudhoney classic 'Touch Me I'm Sick' for our album, The Brutal Language, in 2005. With the 2020 release of our new, old school covers album Rock Love & Red Lipstick, which we debuted on Valentines Day to celebrate the 20 year Anniversary of our band, Mick and I decided it was finally time to create a video to accompany it.
This song has always been one of our favorite covers by one of our favorite bands! We loved putting our violently sexy spin on the original and playing it live on many of our tours over the years. We've included some never before seen footage from our last U.K. tour and the rest we had fun filming at home while we've been in lock down due to the Covid-19 worldwide pandemic.
While band members have come and gone, at the core, My Ruin has always been the two of us. The heart and soul of our rock and roll. To help us celebrate this special milestone, you can download our new album FREE as our gift to you at this location.
Stay safe and smart, be kind to each other and create art."

FIRE FOLLOWS Release “Black And White” SingleHard rock band, Fire Follows, released their new single "Black and White" off of their sophomore EP Glass Grenade that will release via The Label Goup/INgrooves in early 2021. In addition, the band released the official music video for "Black And White".
Make no mistake; the Colorado based Fire Follows is here on business. Founded, crafted, and led by vocalist, musician, producer, and writer Chris Watt, the band delivers a melodic, yet heavy rock sound that is defined by anthemic choruses, beautiful piano interludes, and the perfect blend of rap/scream/sing vocals. In an effort to build a dynamic band that is capable of touring in 2021, Chris brought in seasoned musicians Tim Yunker (sing/rap), Emily Gould (drums), and his brother Tyler Watt (harmony/scream). Their influence can be immediately felt on the newest “Glass Gre-nade” release, showcasing Tim’s gospel/soul inspired vocal stylings, Emily’s dynamic and precise drumming techniques, and Tyler’s rich harmony/backing vocals. Fire Follows gained tremendous industry attention with the If It’s War You Want EP release in 2019, and expects that trend to continue with the five song Glass Grenade release in 2021. The songs demonstrate Chris’s ever evolving writing style, and with a radio ready production quality, are sure to cut through the indus-try noise. The sophomore release utilizes more scream vocals than its predecessor, and the addition of Tim, Emily, and Tyler has taken the overall sound to a whole new level. The hooky choruses are sure to produce multiple hits, and will be enjoyed by fans from pop, classical, and country genres, in addition to traditional hard-rock/meal fans.
The group is already writing for the next album, and actively rehearsing in preparation of touring once the industry gets back on the rails.

MORTICIA – Heaven And Hell Records To Reissue Three AlbumsIn time for Halloween, Heaven And Hell Records has resurrected the Morticia catalogue.
Morticia came to life in 1985. The band was conceived by founder keyboards/vocalist Jodie Tanaka and drummer/vocalist Matt Bachelor. The duo would set out to create dark, moody and romantic music combined with their sense of camp and tongue-in-cheek humour. The band would be the premier goth/deathrock band in the Twin Cities and be able to walk the realms of punk, alternative and heavy metal being, embraced by a variety of scenes. Sharing the stage with local heavy metal heroes such as Impaler and Slave Raider, opening for punk icons like Wendy O Williams or sharing bills with deathrock giants as Alien Sex Fiend and Sex Gang Children, Morticia proved they could hold their own in any arena.
The two would recruit bassist Chrystopher Winter to create a solid trio foundation that would last throughout most of the band’s existence. Along with the addition of guitarist Therese Rita Langevin, the first line-up of Morticia would record and self-release a 5-song EP containing covers of The Doors “Crystal Ship” and Lou Reed’s “Walk On The Wildside”. The humble release would prove to be a small sample of what was yet to come. In 1986, Morticia would record a 2-song 7” single with the song “Zombie Love” and “Scare Me To Death”.
In the wake of the departure of Langevin, Morticia would recruit new guitarist Carmilla Casquette and the following year would release their full-length debut Mortal Fear with guest musicians Ross Willmert, and Brian Bart from the melodic metal band Dare Force, providing additional guitar. Additional backing vocals provided by Betsy McComber. Recorded at Logic Studios in Minneapolis and produced by Bart, Tanaka, Batchelor and engineered by Bart. Released by Channel 83 Records on both vinyl and cassette, the 9-song album would come to life as a monster of deathrock that evoked the spirits of the genre’s heavyweights such as 45 Grave, Skeletal Family and Christian Death.
In 1988, Morticia would release their follow-up LP D.O.A, with the title track an unlikely cover of ‘70 psychedelic/progressive rock band Bloodrock. The cover-song choice would be a testament to the various influences in the band that would contribute to their unique brand of Goth and deathrock.
The 8-song album released on Channel 83 Records on vinyl would see the band's sound evolving even further branching into several directions creating their style and approach to the deathrock subgenre. To accompany the progressively theatrical sound and direction Morticia would begin to focus more than ever before on the visual aspect of the band’s performance by using props and parlour tricks to enhance the experience of their live shows.
A line-up change would occur once again seeing the departure of bassist Winter. With only the original founding duo of Tanaka and Bachelor remaining, bassist Timm Farrlor and guitarists Marko Nostrada and Dave Majerus, and later, Tim Kletti would join the band.
In 1991, Morticia would release their final album to date, 13 Nightmares. Released on Channel 83 Records on both CD and cassette containing 13-tracks, one of which a cover of “Bela Lugosi's Dead” by gothic rock legends Bauhaus. The album would show the band bringing in more commercial heavy metal influence while holding on to the dark Goth aesthetic that the band had created that would only add to the band’s distinct identity of one of the most interesting bands of the scene.
In the sub-genres of deathrock, Goth rock, horror rock or whatever one chooses to refer to it as there has never been a band like Morticia. As difficult as it is to imagine influences of deathrock, Goth, glam, heavy metal, psychedelic, prog with some campy poppiness can all be found within. This is Morticia, there is only one.
Scheduled for release on Hallow’s Eve (October 30) Heaven And Hell Records will be releasing all three Morticia albums, each remastered. These will be limited to 500 copies each.

COMBICHRIST Guitarist ERIC13 Reveals “Black Lipstick” Solo SingleCombichrist guitarist Eric13 has revealed a new video for his latest solo track, “Black Lipstick,” the first in a series of singles over the next six months.
The video for “Black Lipstick” was created while in lockdown, across three cities in two different countries. Directed and edited by Eric13’s former Sex Slaves bandmate Del Cheetah in Las Vegas, actress Tink’s parts were filmed in Reading, England, while Eric13 himself was at home in Philadelphia.
“It was definitely a challenge to plan and execute a video when none of us could be together,” Eric13 says. “It required a lot of trust to bring together our different artistic elements. I’ve never met Tink, but she has this incredible magic that jumps off the screen. Photos of her inspired the entire video and artwork for the song itself. She is like no one or anything I’ve ever seen. The recording was already complete, yet she is the song, and the song is her.”
The independently released single and video were financed completely with the assistance of Eric13’s Patreon supporters.
The video will be followed by a limited edition 7” vinyl single from Swedish label Bad Mofo Records. A “Black Lipstick” remix EP featuring wildly different remix reimaginations from Erk Aicrag of Hocico and Rabia Sorda, Dave Parley of Prayers, guitar god Andee Blacksugar, Chemical Sweet Kid and a death metal version by Nidbild will available via all digital platforms on November 13.
The digital “Black Lipstick” single, which was written and performed by Eric13 with former Filter guitarist and producer Oumi Kapila, is available now here.
“I was basically on tour for five years straight,” Eric13 says. As a member of Combichrist since 2014, the guitarist has played nearly 500 shows in 35 countries, with solo acoustic rock shows in Europe and the United States wedged in between tours. “I’ve been writing new songs steadily the entire time, but I was playing live so much that I never had time to properly record and release my new music. ‘Black Lipstick’ is step one. Now I wanna open the flood gates.”

PLAGUE YEARS Issue “Incantation” Guitar Playthrough VideoDetroit-based crossover death thrashers Plague Years has unleashed a guitar playthrough for "Incantation." The crushing track comes by way of the band's Circle Of Darkness full-length recently released via Entertainment One ("eOne").
Mining the subterranean depths once unearthed on classic Sepultura albums like Beneath The Remains and Arise, with the vicious bite of Germanic slabs like In The Sign Of Evil by Sodom and the Hall of Fame ‘80s output of Slayer, the devilish and down-tuned death worship within Plague Years serves as a demonic calling card for the foursome; a brutal counterbalance to their otherwise likeminded thrash revivalists. On Circle Of Darkness, the band’s full-length debut, Plague Years reunites with engineer Arthur Rizk, whose work with Power Trip, Tomb Mold, Candy, and Cavalera Conspiracy has propelled him to the front of the horde amidst the resurgence of crossover thrash.
Plague Years pays homage to Detroit forebearers Negative Approach and modern contemporaries Hellmouth in equal measure, while infusing the proceedings with a brutal spin of their own design. In terms of lyrical aggression, songs like "Play The Victim" and "Paradox Of Death" blend traditional death metal blood-and-gore fantasy with the unrestrained bravado of Detroit’s grittier contributions to rap, like LOM Rambo and Motown upstart Icewear Vezzo.
Like an icepick to the face, Plague Years arrives with an electric surge of sudden pain. An unrelenting end of the world assault of the cataclysmic convergence of thrash and hardcore, with bits of blackened death and midtempo madness to spare, the band summons the primitive spirit of the singular moment when the heaviest of metal first smashed into a circle pit. Plague Years reignites that flame with sharp fury.

SUCCSEXX - Toronto-Based 80s/90s Sleaze Metal Band Releases Sexx Machine Album Via FnA RecordsSuccsexx is a Toronto-based rock quintet that got their start on Halloween night in 1987 at the famed Toronto nightclub, Heaven. The ’87 lineup featured members from Toronto bands Coney Hatch, Harlot and Arson. Shortly after the inaugural performance the lineup evolved into their mainstay membership featuring Saxx Creed (vocals), Gypsy LaRose (guitar), Michael McV (guitar), Justin Zane (bass) and Johnny Rude (drums).
As the group’s live stage show, equal parts camp-glam and zany matured, Succsexx built a loyal and strong following with headline engagements at Toronto venues El Mocambo, Lee’s Palace, Masonic Temple, The Diamond Club and Rock ‘N’ Roll Heaven. When Heaven underwent its transformation to Rock ‘N’ Roll Heaven, Succsexx appeared regularly at the legendary venue known for its steady presentation of international “hair metal” superstars. Courted by several Canadian record labels, Succsexx never signed with a major label.
A self-financed demo session resulted in 17 recordings which have remained “in the can” and unreleased. The band only released four tracks on an indie cassette and was one of the bands where fans clamored for more, but thought nothing else existed. Come along FnA Records and 13 tracks were brought to the surface... and here we go... an album called Sexx Machine. While you can hear many influences, the tracks are extremely diverse bringing to mind 70s era KISS, Faster Pussycat, Guns N' Roses, Aerosmith, and New York Dolls.
Succsexx was a funky, gritty and down and dirty rock ‘n’ roll at its best. Give their long awaited eponymous 2020 release a listen, and let the music do the talking.

MEGADETH's DAVID ELLEFSON: There's Definitely A Chemistry That Happens When DAVE MUSTAINE And I Play TogetherIn a new interview with Italy's Poisoned Rock, MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson spoke about his musical contributions to the band and the life changes that he went through during his time away from MEGADETH between 2002 and 2010.
He said (see video below): "With MEGADETH, obviously, there were three records I did not perform on [2004's 'The System Has Failed', 2007's 'United Abominations' and 2009's 'Endgame'], and they sound like MEGADETH, 'cause, of course, it's Dave [Mustaine, MEGADETH leader] — it's him writing; it's him singing; his guitar style is very defined. There's definitely a chemistry that happens when Dave and I play together, and I think one that is identifiable to the point that that is what the fans want — that's why they want that. And that's why it made sense, obviously, at a certain point, for Dave and I to connect back together. And it was a wonderful moment. Dave and I got to each go our separate ways. He got to have MEGADETH on his own. I went off. I was doing some other things. I was going to college. I was doing some other business things. I was doing some other musical things. And it was really a great moment to come back together. And that was 10 years ago, for the 20th anniversary of 'Rust In Peace' tour that we did."
Ellefson was in MEGADETH from the band's inception in 1983 to 2002, when the group briefly broke up because Mustaine suffered severe nerve damage that left him unable to play. After Mustaine reformed MEGADETH with an all-new lineup in 2004, Ellefson sued his former bandmate for $18.5 million, alleging that Mustaine still owed him substantial merchandise and publishing royalties. In January 2005, the case was dismissed in court, and five years later, Ellefson rejoined MEGADETH.
Ellefson has been open about the fact that he became a salaried employee upon his return to MEGADETH in 2010, something he shared with the world in his latest book, "More Life With Deth".
Six years earlier, Ellefson declined to rejoin MEGADETH upon the band's reformation, citing concerns with the business structure he had in place with Mustaine.
When Ellefson eventually rejoined MEGADETH, he was no longer as involved in the band's composing process and business affairs like he was prior to the group's breakup. 2

JUDAS PRIEST's ROB HALFORD Looks Back On His 'Very, Very Dangerous Back Surgery'In a recent interview with LiveSigning.com, JUDAS PRIEST singer Rob Halford was asked how often he rides his motorcycle when he is not touring. He responded: "I don't hardly ride at all now — not since my back operation, which I had some years ago. I had this horrible, horrible herniated disc that was pushing on my sciatic nerve. People that have had sciatica — I'm sure there's some people watching now that have had sciatica — oh, man. It's brutal — it's absolutely brutal. So I had to have back surgery in Birmingham some years ago — five years ago now, maybe six years ago.
"You may remember if you saw me in New York, I was walking around with a walking stick, and Richie [Faulkner, JUDAS PRIEST guitarist] was pushing me in a wheelchair, 'cause it was so bad," he continued. "I was doing promo for some PRIEST things. I couldn't stand up straight, it was so bad. So I had this amazing surgeon, Spencer Harland, who did this very, very dangerous back surgery. 'Cause we did all the x-rays and the MRIs and blah blah. And he goes, 'Well, we can try the manipulation,' and blah blah blah, 'but it could months and months and months.' I said, 'I don't have time. I've gotta get back on the road.' So we did the operation.
"I'll never forget this. Before the operation, he came into the room and sat at the end of the bed. He said, 'Are you ready?' I [said], 'Yeah, I'm ready to go.' He said, 'I'm just gonna read you the bill of rights.' 'What is that?' 'It's a medical thing in the U.K.' 'Okay.' 'You may not wake up.' [Laughs] 'What?' 'You may not wake up.' 'Okay.' 'You may become incontinent.' I'm an old guy; I'm getting there already. And all these things… And I'm going, 'Oh, my God. I'm lying here in excruciating pain, and now he's throwing this stuff at me.' I said, 'Let's just do it, Spencer. Let's go. Let's do it.' So, three hours, four hours later, I wake up [and] the pain is completely gone. It was unbelievable. But as a result of that, my back is significantly weaker now. Like when I told you about trying to pick up a box of books, I can't do that; it's just too troublesome for me. My back's now in good shape now, compared to how it was.
"So, as a result of that, sadly, I don't ride anymore."
Halford is promoting his autobiography, "Confess", which arrived on September 29 via Hachette Books. The book has been described by the U.K.'s The Telegraph as "one of the most candid and surprising memoirs of the year." 5

DEEP PURPLE's IAN GILLAN On His Longstanding Feud With RITCHIE BLACKMORE: 'We Were Both A**holes'Ian Gillan says that his relationship with Ritchie Blackmore is "quite good," nearly three decades after the legendary guitarist's final departure from DEEP PURPLE.
Blackmore is a co-founder of DEEP PURPLE and wrote many of their most memorable riffs, including "Smoke On The Water", but he has not played with the group since his 1993 exit. Steve Morse effectively took over Blackmore's slot in 1994 and has since been in the group longer than Ritchie.
Gillan addressed his longstanding feud with Blackmore in a new interview with the U.K.'s The Guardian.
"We were both arseholes," Gillan said, adding that he communicates with Ritchie these days albeit with difficulty. "Ritchie has nothing electronic in his house — no computers, no telephones, nothing like that. So he's completely unreachable. But we do pass messages, and the atmosphere is quite good."
In the same interview, Gillan defended PURPLE's many lineup changes over the years, including his own decision to step away from the group.
"I think loyalty is overrated," he said. "I've seen many musicians who have stayed with a sinking ship when their time has gone. Certain things have a natural lifetime, and unless they're refreshed by a change in personnel or circumstances, they become tired, and I don't want any part of that."
Blackmore previously suggested that PURPLE's manager had blocked him from joining his former bandmates onstage during the 2016 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony, and he used that as an excuse for not attending the event.
Despite Blackmore being a no-show at Rock Hall, he was given several shoutouts during the induction speeches of the DEEP PURPLE members in attendance. In addition, METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich, who inducted DEEP PURPLE into the institution, praised "Ritchie fucking Blackmore" for one of the most memorable guitar riffs of all time on "Smoke On The Water".
In 2017, Gillan threw shade at Ritchie's recent RAINBOW performances, saying that Blackmore is "not playing rock and roll like he used to." 2

ACE FREHLEY: 'I've Met Most Of My Idols'In a new interview with Alicia Atout, original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley was asked if there is anybody in the world of rock and roll that he hasn't met that he would still like to meet. He responded (see video below): "I've met just about everybody. I've been in this business for over 45 years, and I've met most of my idols. I was hanging out with Pete Townshend when THE WHO played in San Diego a year or two ago.
"I'm in a situation where because of KISS's success, the doors are always open," he continued. "I can get into any concert. My daughter wanted to see HOLE one day — Kurt Cobain's wife, Courtney Love. And she said, 'Dad, we don't have any tickets.' I said, 'Grab your girlfriend. We'll go down in the afternoon. I'll grab the road manager and tell him who I am.' Next thing you know, we're in tenth row, watching Courtney Love. And then after the show, Courtney Love took a liking to my daughter Monique and was taking her around backstage. At the time, Drew Barrymore was dating the bass player, so we met Drew Barrymore. There was so many other celebrities back there, I can't even name them all. But it was a lot of fun."
As previously reported, Frehley has announced the "Space Truckin'" picture disc EP, a title exclusive to Record Store Day on November 27, in the form of a 12-inch vinyl picture disc for his single "Space Truckin'", a cover of the DEEP PURPLE classic. The limited-edition vinyl release also features additional bonus tracks such as "Mission To Mars" and "The Return Of Space Bear". To celebrate the announcement, Ace has shared an extended double music video for "Mission On Mars" and "Space Truckin'".
"Space Truckin'" is taken from Frehley's newest album, "Origins Vol. 2", out now via Entertainment One (eOne), which continues Ace's reflections on a lifetime in music and inspiration. No stranger to cover versions throughout his musical history — having recorded, rebranded and repossessed such notable nuggets as "New York Groove", "Do Ya" and "I Wanna Go Back" throughout his eight previous studio efforts — this new collection presents a thoughtful and exciting selection of songs that inspired and helped shape the legendary guitarist. That spirit of fun is carried through with exquisite execution, and guitar aficionados will enjoy Frehley's fresh interpretations of these classic songs.

SKID ROW's RACHEL BOLAN: 'We Wanna Do A Streaming Show'SKID ROW bassist Rachel Bolan spoke to MetalNet.com about the progress of the recording sessions for the final chapter of the band's "United World Rebellion" trilogy. The disc was tracked in part at a Nashville, Tennessee studio with producer Michael Wagener, who also helmed the group's 1989 self-titled debut and 1991's "Slave To The Grind".
SKID ROW's new LP will mark its first release with South African-born, British-based vocalist ZP Theart (DRAGONFORCE, TANK, I AM I), who joined the band in 2016 following the departure of Tony Harnell (TNT, STARBREAKER).
Bolan said (see video below): "With everything that's going on, obviously, not only do we live in different states, [but] we live in two different countries, 'cause Zee [ZP] is over in the U.K. So it's made things a little difficult and slowed the process down. But we are are still writing. We recorded a bunch of stuff with Michael Wagener that we liked. And we also wanna rewrite some stuff and write some new stuff, because we don't feel it's there yet — as far as song-wise. So we're trading stuff, and we're doing Zoom writes and stuff like that. So we're just keeping it as fresh as possible.
"But we are planning to do — I don't know when, because, again, Zee lives over in the U.K., and it makes it a little more difficult, but we wanna do a streaming show," he continued. "A lot of people are doing it, and it's a necessity at this point, if you still wanna see your favorite band. So, yeah, we plan on doing that. And we've got a bunch of stuff cooking. We'll have the new record deal in place soon. We're gonna work with some cool people."
Unlike 2014's "Rise Of The Damnation Army - United World Rebellion: Chapter Two" and 2013's "United World Rebellion: Chapter One", SKID ROW's forthcoming release will be a full-length record.
"It'll be the third and final chapter to 'United World Rebellion', and it'll be full-length," Rachel confirmed. "The EPs were fun, but we come from the age of full-length. We wanna do another one."
Back in May 2019, it was announced that SKID ROW had inked a new worldwide deal with Australia's Golden Robot Records. It is not clear if that label will still be involved in releasing the new disc.
SKID ROW previously collaborated with several outside songwriters on its new material, including Corey Taylor (SLIPKNOT, STONE SOUR) and Lzzy Hale and Joe Hottinger of HALESTORM, a group that covered the title track of "Slave To The Grind" on its "ReAniMate: The CoVeRs eP" in 2011. SKID ROW also worked with songwriter-for-hire Marti Frederiksen, who has previously collaborated with AEROSMITH, DEF LEPPARD, Jonny Lang and Sheryl Crow.
SKID ROW's "The Big Rock Summer Tour", also featuring RATT, CINDERELLA's Tom Keifer and SLAUGHTER, was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic that is sweeping the globe.

WHITESNAKE's DAVID COVERDALE Is 'Healing Nice' Following Surgery For Bilateral Inguinal HerniaWHITESNAKE frontman David Coverdale spoke to "The Cassius Morris Show" about how he is recovering from his recent surgery for bilateral inguinal hernia. The singer was forced to wait several months during the coronavirus pandemic before undergoing the procedure last month at the Renown facility in his hometown of Reno, Nevada.
"My performance is an entirely physical, athletic show," David said (see video below). "I pull my voice up from my whole body, so if part of the body is compromised, it's really evident. So we had to cancel the tour [with SAMMY HAGAR & THE CIRCLE and NIGHT RANGER] before the pandemic closed all the borders and stuff. This was something that happened once I'd gotten home from the Asian tour. But everyone was in lockdown — there was nobody [there] to help. But we had the surgery now. It wasn't safe for me — a man of my age. It wasn't a life-or-death thing, even though it was career threatening. And thankfully, we seem to be healing nice."
This past May, it was announced that Renown was resuming limited medical and surgical procedures following more than six weeks of suspension due to efforts to limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus pandemic.
In a June interview with the 107.1 The Boss radio station, Coverdale spoke about having to wait to undergo the procedure, describing his pain as "more than a hernia. It's like I have a fresh chicken pushed down my underpants. It's like I've got a backpack on the front.
"I haven't been able to have the surgery, as career-threatening as it is, 'cause I can't project loud and sing the kind of songs people know," he continued. "It's painful, and it actually gets me out of some of the domestic work here [at home], [because] I can't do too much heavy lifting.
"As it isn't a life-threatening situation, I'm not in line yet to have the surgery," he added. "It's an interesting time. And with my age, it's probably gonna be a three- or four-month recovery period."
Coverdale had both his knees replaced with titanium in 2017 after suffering from degenerative arthritis. He later explained that he was in so much pain with arthritis in his knees that it hampered his ability to perform live.
WHITESNAKE had been touring in support of its latest album, "Flesh & Blood", which was released in May 2019 via Frontiers Music Srl.
WHITESNAKE recently launched the "Red, White And Blues" trilogy, a series of fresh, new collections organized by musical themes that will include "Love Songs" (red), "The Rock Album" (white) and "The Blues Album" (blue).

JOURNEY Singer ARNEL PINEDA Fires Back At Critics Following Brother's Drug ArrestJOURNEY singer Arnel Pineda has fired back at his critics following the arrest of his younger brother for alleged illegal drug peddling in Quezon City, just northeast of Manila, in the Philippines.
According to Manila Bulletin, 51-year-old Rusmon "Rustmon" Pineda was arrested Tuesday night (October 6) for possessing four sachets of methamphetamine, worth about PHP136,000 (approximately $2,087), in a buy-bust operation. Also arrested was his cohort, a barangay watchman (tanod), who was identified as 30-year-old Rojimar Frilles. The two are facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
On Thursday (October 8), Arnel, who has been fronting JOURNEY since 2007, took to his Instagram to respond to negative comments made about him and his family in the wake of the news of his brother's arrest.
"[T]o the bashers who chose to cowardly succumb to prejudism & unkindness while hiding conveniently in the cloak of your keyboards & computer screens, there are more helpful & useful things to do,like facing your precious mirror once in a while," he wrote. "[W]ho knows, you might find yourselves as imperfect as me,my family and everyone else..
"[T]o my real friends & supporters, who knows that our friendship is eternally unbounded by time & space, you know who you are. [T]hank you for your prayers & love..[Y]ou don’t even know how much all of you have hugely blessed us by sending kind & comforting words.
"[M]ay God be with you all always

Lindsay confirmed it with the following post:
Stay tuned for updates.
Sarah Jezebel Deva, who was with Cradle Of Filth for 14 years before leaving the band in 2009, has checked in with the following update:
"I know it's been a very long time since I updated you, but because of this human pandemic going on, there hasn't been that much to report. However, I hope you are all safe, well and no one here has been affected by what's been going on. I do have some news for you, hopefully you will see this as positive!
It's been a very long time since I've seen or talked to Mortiis, until recently. He clearly missed me and I've brightened up his life by taking up his offer of working with him again next year. I will be honest, I'm honoured he has thought of me and I think he went through his list of good singers and no one was available, and he was desperate, so called me haha. I'm honestly happy about the future collaboration, both on stage and recording. So I will keep you updated and hope you will support him and I.
Be safe people!"
Sarah previously appeared on the Mortiis albums The Stargate (1998) and The Smell Of Rain (2001).
Lindsay's debut solo album, Martyr, is available for streaming via Spotify here. Purchase physical copies of the album at SchoolcraftShop.com.
The limited edition storybook digipack version of the album includes extra pages in the booklet that tell the tale of the album’s beginnings and a page signed by Lindsay. Each copy is auto-numbered and will not be printed again. It is limited to 500 copies.

STRYPER's MICHAEL SWEET: 'No Musician Influenced Me As Much As EDDIE VAN HALEN'STRYPER frontman Michael Sweet has paid tribute to Eddie Van Halen, saying no musician influenced him as much as the legendary VAN HALEN guitarist did.
Sweet offered his comments on Friday (October 9) — three days after Eddie's death — while he was a guest on "The Logan Sekulow ReProgram", hosted by Logan Sekulow, one of the sons of President Donald Trump's attorney Jay Sekulow.
Sweet said (see video below): "I had many influences throughout my history, starting with Elvis [Presley] and CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL, and moving into a number of other bands — BOSTON, of course — but no band, and no musician, influenced me as much as VAN HALEN and Eddie Van Halen. Something magical happened to me when I heard that VAN HALEN album. And I'm sure many people would say the same thing, but as a musician and a songwriter and [being] in a band, something really happened to inspire me like I'd never been inspired before. And that was due to Eddie Van Halen. It was something that Eddie had, and has, that really took it to a new level for me and made me push myself harder to wanna be better as a guitarist, as a singer, as a writer. And I have so many memories tied to that too. Listening to that VAN HALEN album with my convertible Cougar XR7 1973, top down, stereo speakers in the back, cranking 'Van Halen I', just roaring through neighborhoods. And I'm sure many neighbors called the cops on me, but I was gone by that point in time.
"Although I didn't know Eddie — I met Eddie a few times, and my wife, Kyle, at the time, God rest her soul, she worked for VAN HALEN as a makeup artist for a period of time, I got to kind of hang out behind the scenes, so to speak," Sweet continued. "And I tell you, man, even though I didn't know him that well personally, if really at all, it feels to me like I lost a family member. I mean, it hurt deep. And when I got the news of his passing, man, I just wanted to go in a room and close the door and stay there for a long while. And, man, it still hurts. It's terrible."
A year and a half ago, Sweet was asked by the "Cobras & Fire" podcast which era of VAN HALEN was his favorite. He responded: "I love early VAN HALEN — everything with [singer David] Lee Roth… My opinion is that the early VAN HALEN with Roth was the better VAN HALEN. And the reason why I say that is because of the energy. There was some kind of a fire lit under all of them, especially on those first three albums and tours, that was undeniable. Yeah, Sammy's [Hagar] awesome, he's a legend, he's amazing, they sounded great, they had hits with Sammy and sold a ton of albums — not to take any of that away, but, man, I miss the old VAN HALEN."
Asked if he liked VAN HALEN's comeback album, 2012's "A Different Kind Of Truth", which was largely based on the band's 1970s demos, Sweet said: "Not really. I liked portions of it, and I respected the fact, okay, we're getting something rather than nothing. But I just felt like it was somewhat thrown together. It was old songs redone. Yeah, people hadn't heard a lot of the material, and I get that — and that's all great. We've done that with certain songs. But it still didn't have that fire to it that I'm referring to."
Eddie died at the age of 65 at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, California. His wife, Janie, was by his side, along with his son, Wolfgang, and Alex, Eddie's brother and VAN HALEN drummer.
The iconic VAN HALEN axeman passed away from complications due to cancer, his son confirmed.
Rolling Stone magazine ranked Eddie Van Halen No. 8 in its list of the 100 greatest guitarists. 2

DAVID CROSBY Draws Ire Of VAN HALEN Fans After Dismissive EDDIE VAN HALEN TweetLegendary singer-songwriter and guitarist David Crosby has drawn the ire of VAN HALEN fans for seemingly minimizing the talents of recently deceased guitarist Eddie Van Halen.
After a Twitter follower asked Crosby for his opinion of Eddie, David replied simply: "Meh ...." His bluntness was seen as out of line by a number of other Twitter users, including TESTAMENT guitarist Alex Skolnick, who chimed in: "I appreciate @thedavidcrosby too much for this to get in the way, but a much better answer would have been: 'I know he meant a lot to so many but his sound & style just weren't my thing.'" Alex then pointed out that American singer-songwriter Patti Smith, who has never appeared to be much of a VAN HALEN fan either, still managed to post a polite note following Eddie's passing. L.A. GUNS axeman Tracii Guns concurred, firing back at Crosby: "Wrong answer as fuck and rude as fuck!!! There are better ways to say you don't care for someone's music. That was very disrespectful. And yes straight out fuck you and your smug answer."
The following day, Crosby took to his Twitter to clarify his original comments. "[Jimi] Hendrix changed the world of guitar. Nobody else really," he wrote. "[L]ook I get it ..many of you loved Van Halen ....and the one time I met [him] he was nice ....and he was talented ...meh to me means I don't care that much ....and I don't ...doesn't mean he wasn't good ,he was but not for me".
The left-leaning Crosby frequently spars with fans on Twitter about politics and passionately defends his stance, saying that he disagrees with those who think artists like him should "shut up and sing." "It's not part of the deal," he told the Boston Globe three years ago.
At 79, Crosby is a two-time Rock And Roll Hall Of Famer, inducted as a member of both the widely innovative folk-rock band THE BYRDS — with whom he first rose to stardom — and the Woodstock era-defining group CROSBY, STILLS & NASH.
Crosby played at some of rock's most culturally significant concerts, including the Monterey Pop Festival, Woodstock and the Altamont Free Concert. He is also one of rock's most prolific collaborators, recording and playing with Bob Dylan, members of the GRATEFUL DEAD, Neil Young, Jackson Browne and others.
Eddie died on Tuesday (October 6) at St.

AYREON Mastermind ARJEN LUCASSEN - "EDDIE VAN HALEN Was A Total Example For Me; VAN HALEN 1 Had The Best Guitar Sound Ever"During an interview with FaceCulture about the new Ayreon album, Transitus, mastermind Arjen Lucassen discussed the legacy of guitar legend Eddie Van Halen, who passed away on October 6th following a long battle with throat cancer. Check out the clip below.
Professor Of Rock has released the new video below, along with the following message:
"We lost one of the most influential and innovative guitarist of the rock era, when Eddie Van Halen succumbed to his long battle with throat cancer. He was only 65 years old. The word "legend" is thrown around too much in the world we live in now. The over use of the term waters down the meaning for true legends and make no mistake the word legend was coined for EVH.
"Here at Professor Of Rock, we want to honor to the legend Eddie Van Halen through the music. Not only was Eddie one of the all-time greatest guitarists, he was also a master composer, lyricist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. He was a lightning fast player, a relentless originator, and a veritable trailblazer.
"Here we break down Eddie’s top 5 song from both David Lee Roth era and the Sammy Hagar era, including 'Runnin’ With The Devil', 'Dreams', '5150', 'Panama', 'Best Of Both Worlds', 'Mean Streets', 'I’m The One', 'Jump', 'When It’s Love', 'Poundcake', and more with commentary by Sammy Hagar."
