QUIET RIOT Guitarist ALEX GROSSI To Appear On New PUBLIC ENEMY Album, 'What You Gonna Do When The Grid Goes Down?'QUIET RIOT guitarist Alex Grossi appears as a guest on the new PUBLIC ENEMY album, "What You Gonna Do When The Grid Goes Down?", set for release later this month.
"I met Flavor Flav a few years ago out here in Vegas," states Grossi. "We quickly became friends and he asked me to perform 'Bring The Noise' with him at his 60th-birthday party/show, and we eventually ended up in the studio. I am beyond honoured to have been included on this record."
"What You Gonna Do When The Grid Goes Down?" will be released on September 25 via Def Jam Recordings.
Billed as the legendary hip-hop group's first full-length under the label in over two decades, the album will include the single "Fight the Power (Remix 2020)" which opened the 2020 BET Awards and features verses from Nas, Rapsody, Black Thought, YG, Jahi and Questlove.
"Cultural Institutions are important. Being an integral part of one is an honor bestowed and to uphold," Chuck D said in a statement. "PUBLIC ENEMY songs are forever sonic prints in the sands of time. And it's time — it's necessary — to bring the noise again from a place called home. Def Jam. Fight The Power 2020." Flavor Flav added: "Def Jam is like the house we grew up in. It's cool to be home."
Grossi has been a member of QUIET RIOT for over a decade and a half, having been chosen by the late Kevin DuBrow and Frankie Banali to fill the guitar slot in 2004. 1

NAPALM DEATH's MITCH HARRIS Teams Up With MEGADETH's DIRK VERBEUREN In BRAVE THE COLDMission Two Entertainment has announced the signing of BRAVE THE COLD. The band's debut album, "Scarcity", is scheduled for release on October 2.
Fronted by longtime NAPALM DEATH member Mitch Harris and MEGADETH drummer Dirk Verbeuren, BRAVE THE COLD is a two-piece formed in 2018 as the two metal conglomerates focus their energies into a new level of aggression. The culmination is "Scarcity", an eleven-track collection of ferociousness breathing much-needed life into the heavy metal scene of 2020. The disc was produced by the Logan Mader, who has previously worked with GOJIRA, FEAR FACTORY, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY and W.A.S.P., among others.
Harris says: "Mission Two Entertainment progressed to their next phase in the music world and they have been the most inspiring team I've ever worked with. They truly believe with heart and soul to push this to the highest level possible as we forge ahead in our forever altered civilization.”
BRAVE THE COLD's glitchy, byzantine death metal doesn't just shift gears — it whips, stutters and jumps sideways into heavyweight dimensions. The entire "Scarcity" theme is a well-researched, scenic debate combining dystopian views ranging from anti-elite, anti-media, anti-division, anti-oppression, end of days philosophies, post-apocalyptic poetry, mind control, economic instability, educational infiltration and global political deceit that compromises our spirituality of one collective voice. This is a global agenda that was a long time coming. It's a reflection on how government can create urgency out of necessity.
Harris has been taking a leave of absence from NAPALM DEATH since late 2014 to focus on his family life. 1

ERIC BURDON Joins BON JOVI For Performance Of THE ANIMALS Classic "We Gotta Get Out Of This Place"; Rare VideoBon Jovi were joined by the legendary Eric Burdon for a performance of The Animals' "We Gotta Get Out Of This Place", on September 1, 1995 at the concert for the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. Rare footage of the performance can be seen below:
Bon Jovi recently released an official video for their single, "Do What You Can". The song will be included on the band's upcoming 2020 album, set for release on October 2 via Island Records. Pre-order the album here, and watch the video below.
Originally set for release on May 15, the 2020 album was a completed album with a breadth and depth of songwriting, titled for a challenging and pivotal election year. Along with all of America, Jon found himself unexpectedly experiencing a world-altering coronavirus pandemic, followed quickly by the staggering events of George Floyd’s death and the ensuing national movement for racial equality. He knew there was even more to say about 2020. Writing from a home studio, two new songs were born: “American Reckoning” and “Do What You Can” encompass these events and made the album a complete body of work.
“I am a witness to history,” said Jon Bon Jovi. “I believe the greatest gift of an artist is the ability to use their voice to speak to issues that move us.”
The final version of “Do What You Can,” written by Jon Bon Jovi, was performed acoustically for the first time on the star-studded Jersey4Jersey benefit special, raising $6 million for the state which was hard hit during the pandemic. In the weeks that followed, the full band was able to record the song in the studio and add it to the forthcoming album.

VANILLA FUDGE To Release Remastered Cover Of LED ZEPPELIN's "Immigrant Song"Golden Robot Records announce the signing of the legendary Vanilla Fudge. To celebrate this announcement, Vanilla Fudge will drop a remastered version of their cover of Led Zeppelin’s "Immigrant Song" on September 22.
"'Immigrant Song' by Led Zeppelin is one of the monster tracks of all time. How do you top that? Well, you can't but we decided to just have fun with it. I came up with this On Green Dolphin Street kinda chord progression as the intro on the synth with a heavy-duty brass sound that worked pretty well. The guys fell into it right quick and it rocks the house. Carmine did a great job with the drum track and Tim and Vince killed it. I did the vocals in Florida and sent it back to Carmine in Los Angeles and he mixed it. Hope you dig it." - Mark Stein
"GRR is honoured to have such a classic band on the label, considering they had the main song 'You Keep Me Hangin' On' in the recent Quentin Tarantino movie Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, it shows you their legacy will continue for some time yet. We are excited to release the new remastered Led Zeppelin and Supremes albums over the next 12 months." - Mark Alexander-Erber (President & Founder | Golden Robot Global Entertainment Group)
Vanilla Fudge will also be releasing a new album in 2021, The Supreme Vanilla Fudge, which will see them re-work 10 songs from the legendary The Supremes done in the classic Fudge way. The Supreme Vanilla Fudge will feature all 4 original members: Mark Stein, Carmine Appice, Vinnie Martel and Tim Bogert (who no longer tours but will appear on a few tracks on the record) along with touring bassist Pete Bremy.
Pre-order/pre-save "Immigrant Song" here.
Vanilla Fudge was one of the first American groups to infuse psychedelia into heavy rock sound to create “psychedelic symphonic rock” an eclectic genre which would, among its many offshoots, eventually morph into heavy metal. Although, at first, the band did not record original material, they were best known for their dramatic heavy, slowed-down arrangements of contemporary pop songs which they developed into works of epic proportion.
Originally, Vanilla Fudge was a blue-eyed soul cover band called The Pigeons, formed in New Jersey in 1965 with organist, Mark Stein, bassist, Tim Bogert, drummer, Joey Brennan, and guitarist, vocalist and US Navy veteran, Vince Martell. They built a following by gigging extensively up and down the East Coast and earned extra money by providing freelance in-concert backing for hit-record girl groups. In early 1966, the group recorded a set of eight demos that were released several years later as "While the World Was Eating Vanilla Fudge".
The East Coast, in particular, New York, and New Jersey, created a sound all its own. Inspired by groups such as The Rascals and The Vagrants (fronted by guitarist, Leslie West of Mountain fame), The Pigeons reworked many of their own existing arrangements of covers to reflect their unique interpretation of this “East Coast Sound”.
In late 1966, drummer, Joey Brennan, moved out to the West Coast; The Pigeons immediately drafted drummer and vocalist, Carmine Appice, a disciple of the renowned Joe Morello (Dave Brubeck Band) and a seasoned veteran of the club scene. In early 1967, The Pigeons manager, Phil Basile, convinced producer, George "Shadow" Morton (producer for The Shangri-Las and Janis Ian), to catch their live act. Impressed by their heavy-rocking, trippy and psychedelic version of The Supremes' "You Keep Me Hangin' On", Morton offered to record the song as a single. This resulted in a deal with the Atlantic subsidiary Atco, which requested a name change. The band settled on Vanilla Fudge.
Vanilla Fudge celebrated their 50-Year Anniversary in 2017 and is still rocking the world as hard as ever.

METALLICA's 'S&M2' Live Album Enters BILLBOARD Chart At No. 4According to Billboard, METALLICA's new live set, "Metallica And San Francisco Symphony: S&M²", has entered the Billboard 200 chart at position No. 4. The effort, which was recorded exactly a year ago, earned 56,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending September 3, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album.
Of the 56,000 "S&M²" figure, album sales total 53,000, SEA units equal 3,000 (translating to 3.6 million on-demand streams of the album's tracks in the tracking week) and TEA units represent a negligible figure.
METALLICA and San Francisco Symphony's September 6 and September 8, 2019 "S&M²" concerts were historic on multiple levels: They served as the grand opening of San Francisco's Chase Center, reunited the band and Symphony for the first time since the 1999 performances captured on the Grammy-winning "S&M" album, and featured the first-ever symphonic renditions of songs written and released since those original "S&M" shows.
On August 29, METALLICA broadcast a show to hundreds of drive-in and outdoor theaters across the U.S. and Canada, as part of the "Encore Drive-In Nights" series. The concert was filmed nearly three weeks earlier, on August 10, at the Gundlach Bundschu winery, about a 30-minute car ride from the band's headquarters in San Rafael, California, and was subsequently edited and mixed by the band's award-winning production team to the highest standards possible.
Last month, METALLICA took part in an interview and short performance on "The Howard Stern Show".
In early May, the four members of METALLICA overcame social distancing to record a new version of their song "Blackened", with each member separated in his own home. The split-screen video was posted to the band's social media channels.
METALLICA had been largely out of the public eye since last fall when the band canceled an Australian tour and announced that frontman James Hetfield was returning to rehab for the first time since 2002 to battle his addictions.

MIKE PORTNOY Unboxes FLYING COLORS' Upcoming Third Stage: Live In London ReleaseSupergroup Flying Colors will be releasing their brand-new live album, Third Stage: Live In London, on September 18 via Music Theories Recordings. Pre-order here.
In this new video, Mike Portnoy unboxes all configurations of the new album. This is the first time Mike saw the finished Earbook (or Eyebook) with his own eyes, always exciting.
Third Stage: Live In London was filmed during their 2019 US and European tour and the footage captures the exhilarating sold-out final night, on the December 14 at the iconic Grade II Listed, Shepherd’s Bush Empire, London. The album will be released on several formats including, orange transparent 3LP, Blu-ray, digitally, 2CD/DVD and a 40-page Earbook which includes 5 discs; 2CD album, 2DVDs and a Blu-ray. The Blu-ray and DVDs in the Earbook also include bonus material of music videos and concert footage of their Morsefest 2019 performance in Cross Plains, Tennessee.
When you combine the calibre of supergroup musicians - guitarist Steve Morse (Deep Purple, Dixie Dregs, ex-Kansas), drummer Mike Portnoy (Winery Dogs, ex-Dream Theater, Transatlantic), keyboardist/vocalist Neal Morse (Transatlantic, ex Spock's Beard, and a prolific solo artist in his own right), bassist Dave LaRue (Dixie Dregs, ex-Joe Satriani), and powerhouse vocalist and songwriter Casey McPherson (Alpha Rev, The Sea Within) - the results are going to be lightning in a bottle.
They had only played 9 exclusive shows on the tour, culminating at the sold-out show in London, which saw Portnoy stand up mid-set and quip, “Welcome to the rarest of all sightings, rarer than a UFO sighting, rarer than a sasquatch sighting. A Flying Colors sighting, here on stage in London. This is a very sad night for us because it is the last night of the tour and we don’t get to play together enough, so we’re going to savour every moment tonight and enjoy each and every moment here on stage.”
Their latest studio album, Third Degree, had only been released two months previously, and songs from that record make up just under half to the night’s setlist with the rest of the songs coming from the 2012 self-titled Billboard Top 10 debut and 2014s worldwide Top 10, Second Nature. Backed with a HD projector screen, the five take the stage in the darkness amidst a rumble of applause and immediately groove into opener "Blue Ocean", and from the outset, their technical virtuosity, joyous melodies and reflective lyricism wash over the crowd proving to be the cornerstones of the Flying Colors sound.
Talking about walking out on the stage, McPherson recalls; “I remember how I felt right before the show in London. I was excited because my oldest daughter and her grandmother was there, whom I love dearly, and felt like I had the show, down by then. It's always a good feeling to take the stage when the material is ingrained enough to just let go and let it out!”
They flow into the melodic progressive wonderment of 'A Place In Your World', featuring guitar heroics from Steve Morse before they shift up a gear further for a duo of thunderous new songs, 'The Loss Inside', and the almost rousingly apocalyptic sounding 'More' - it’s this that makes them so special, the ability to weave through several genres simultaneously.
The sight of LaRue and Portnoy bouncing off one another is a gloriously effortless sight to behold, whilst the wizardry of Neal Morse throughout is hypnotic. The band flit nimble-fingered through complex yet musical treasure-trove of accessible and sophisticated pop songs, jazz-fusion, progressive-rock and multi-layered vocals from Macpherson, Neal Morse and Portnoy - giving the band added dimensions, many can only dream of. ‘Kayla’ lights up the room and makes the 100-year-old theatre feel like the most intimate of settings.
From its opening in 1903 as a Music Hall, hosting variety performances and revues from the likes of Charlie Chaplin the venue has been a captivating one. The Shepherd’s Bush Empire was designed by architect Frank Matchem, who also designed the world-famous Palladium, Victoria Palace Theatre and London Coliseum. Its mix of stunning Art Nouveau and Baroque style creates a luscious backdrop to the spiralling psychedelic progressive pop stylings of this supergroup. “The Shepherd's Bush Empire is a classic theatre. Little nooks and crannies backstage, and that ornate vibe in the hall. Great people to work with which always makes for a fun gig,” says McPherson.
As the camera weaves from cascading light effects and a captivating video backdrop to the view from the stage, sweeping above the crowd and along the lavish balconies, it’s visually stunning and as the band journey through their back catalogue it at times creates an almost spiritual awakening and has you hooked through further crowd favourites such as "Geronimo", "Infinite Fire" and new songs alike until it reaches its triumphant finale "Mask Machine".
“Playing in Flying Colors is like being in a movie,” says the singer. “It’s so incredibly powerful emotionally, and to think this was going to be the last show was a bittersweet feeling. I love the other guys in the band and we always have such a good time on the road together. Our Chemistry is like really good sushi. There's not one ingredient you could replace and it taste that good. It is one of the kindest and uniquely unified band's I've ever been in.”
Third Stage: Live In London captures the band in all their uncompromising glory, five musicians that when they come together prove that they have a special and breath-taking connection. In the words of Mr. Portnoy, it’s the “rarest of all sightings,” but what a sight to behold.

FEUERSCHWANZ Release Official Video For "Im Bauch Des Wals"German medieval rock masters Feuerschwanz have released the official music video for their song "Im Bauch des Wals" (English: "In The Belly Of The Whale"). The song comes off their brand new album, Das Elfte Gebot, which was released on June 26 and landed at #3 on the official German album charts, where it remained for 8 consecutive weeks.
Commented the band: "'Im Bauch des Wals' is about a majestic sea creature who did not swallow biblical Jonah, but rather so much man made plastic that it eventually dies and sinks into the ocean. The ship that Hodi and Hauptmann discovered on their trip to England went aground just before Land's End in 2003 on its way from Cork (Ireland) to Lübeck - with 2200 tons of plastic on board. Ever since then it's right there at the beach, moaning and groaning whenever the high waves hit - just like a stranded whale dying. We tried to capture the eerie and somehow mystical vibes of that place for you. A place where you go like: What kind of planet are we leaving to our descendants? One thing's for sure: a whole lot of plastic waste."
Das Elfte Gebot is the successor of 2018's extremely successful album, Methämmer, and can be ordered here.

ACT OF DENIAL Featuring Members Of SOILWORK, TESTAMENT, KOZIAK, SEPTICFLESH And THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA Working On Debut AlbumAct Of Denial is a melodic death metal band / project formed in 2020 composed of lead guitarist and songwriter Voi Cox (Koziak, Victim), guitarist and lyricist Luger (Benighted, Koziak), vocalist Björn "Speed" Strid (Soilwork), bassist Steve Di Giorgio (Death, Testament), drummer Krimh (Septicflesh) and keyboardist John Lönnmyr (The Night Flight Orchestra).
Voi and Luger have issued the following statement: "This is now just a continuation of what we have been doing all our lives and only now in our 'older age' we have done something serious. Of course, when it comes to music, at least for us, we wanted to record an album with some of the best musicians in metal music and the ones that we listened to when we were kids. We are not saying that this is something special what we are doing, but this means a lot to us and basically we are doing this for ourselves and our closest friends first but also for all the metal fans around the world who we hope are going to like our new music. Anybody can do it nowadays and we will support everyone no matter what. If there wasn't this COVID pandemic, this would have never happened since all of these guys would have been on tour or busy with their own bands. We were playing our whole lives together and we don’t wanna say that the bands we played in before were not good or were good let music fans decide and let our music speak for itself but now this is a completely different story. When you are getting older you get a better understanding about everything including music and here we are today playing with people who we listen to basically our whole lives."
Check out the debut single "Puzzle Heart" below, taken from their forthcoming album, entitled Negative.

FOUL BODY AUTOPSY - New EP Consumed By Black Thoughts Due October 10th; World Mental Health DayOctober 10th is World Mental Health Day, a day for raising awareness of mental health issues worldwide, with this year’s event focussing on suicide prevention. October 10th is also the day when Tom Reynolds will release his new Foul Body Autopsy EP, Consumed By Black Thoughts. It’s no coincidence that these events should collide, with the release date for Consumed By Black Thoughts being very carefully chosen.
Without a doubt, this new collection of songs represents Tom Reynolds’ most mature, enthralling and exciting work yet; with a new dimension of emotional power being added to the single-minded ferocity of his song writing. The trademark machine gun riffs have been joined by some incredible hooks and choruses and emotive melody lines embrace the steel clad structures. The reason for this utterly convincing expansion of the Foul Body Autopsy sound – and the release date of October 10th – lies in the challenging source of inspiration behind these songs, as Tom explains...
“I have written this EP from my own perspective of living with a mental illness. I often find that mental illness tends to be romanticized by the media and vapid celebrities who seem to think it’s an interesting personality accessory. I wanted to talk about living with mental illness from a human perspective, not as a way to glean sympathy or to feel sorry for myself but to just tell the truth. Living with an untreated mental illness is fucking horrible! I can’t say at any point it has been romantic! Though I have gone through treatment and I am on psychoactive medication it still affects my life from time to time. Obviously, things are much better than they have been in years but this is something I am probably never going shake off completely.”
Mixed and mastered by the legendary Russ Russell (Amorphis, At The Gates, Dimmu Borgir) and adorned with the stunning artwork of Dan Goldsworthy (Accept, Cradle Of Filth, Forged In Black), Consumed By Black Thoughts is the complete package. Available on all digital platforms and as a limited edition CD it’s an exploration of mental torment, a voice of understanding, a hand of support and a raging, cathartic melodic death metal assault. Toronto's POSSESSED STEEL To Release Debut Album In November, First Track Streaming NowTemple Of Mystery Records has announced November 30th as the international release date for Possessed Steel's debut album, Aedris, on CD and vinyl LP formats.
Possessed Steel are a four-piece traditional heavy metal band from Toronto, Canada. Formed in 2010, they started by playing small venues and house parties, and through the years became more and more dedicated to finessing their sound and ideas. They released a five-song rehearsal recording that same year, and after a steady stream of shows, the band crystallized their sound on their self-titled EP in 2014.
After a year-long hiatus - where they said they'd break up "forever," but didn't - the current lineup played together for the first time in 2015, playing the old EP from front to back and feeling they had perfect chemistry. From that day forth, Possessed Steel as we know today was formed, and the band went on to release their second EP, Order Of The Moon, which featured some older songs expanded upon and slightly rearranged.
As they expanded their sound and honed their creativity, they set their sights on writing their first-ever full-length, leading us to now. For a full year, Possessed Steel have been working harder than they've ever worked - recording, writing and releasing a one-of-a-kind concept album of epic proportions, Aedris.
Aedris takes us across a prophetic journey, which unfolds into a succession of mystical songs taking place in an enchanted world. The goal is for Aedris, the last of kin in a long ancient bloodline, to choose to heed a prophecy of ruin - or to ignore it - and each song is a chapter in his story.
Musically, Aedris is a well-crafted, refreshing mix of epic heavy metal and Canadian-style progressive thrash with poignant vocals, sometimes soul-wrenching screams - but overall, it has incredible riffs, otherworldly acoustic parts (think Sacred Blade), and over-the-top solos. One thing that could be said about Aedris is that it is more than an album; it is entering another world. It makes us travel into a parallel universe. It sounds and feels original, and it is the type of record that we can listen to over and over again and discover new things every time.
Join Aedris, and follow his quest to fulfill his destiny as the album sets into a somber musical voyage, which sets sail on November 30th via Temple Of Mystery Records.
In the meantime, emjoy a lyric video for the brand new track "Spellblade". Cover artwork, courtesy of Tamara Comas, and tracklisting follow below.

DARKENED Featuring Members Of GRAVE, MEMORIAM Stream Kingdom Of Decay Album In Its Entirety Ahead Of Release DateElite death metal outfit Darkened is currently streaming the entirety of their debut album, Kingdom Of Decay, set for international release on September 11th by Edged Circle Productions, via the YouTube clip below.
It was but the summer of 2019 when Darkened burst onto the international stage with their debut EP for Edged Circle, Into The Blackness. Although an otherwise-brand-new entity at the time, Darkened boasted a wealth of experience in the death metal underground, comprising drummer Andy Whale (ex-Bolt Thrower / Memoriam), bassist Daryl Kahan (ex-Disma / Funebrarum), vocalist Gord Olson (Ye Goat-Herd Gods / Demisery), and guitarists Linus Nirbrant (A Canorous Quintet / This Ending) and Hempa Brynolfsson (Excruciate / Ordo Inferus). As such, the band's opening salvo was truly a sum of all its not-inconsiderable parts: all-caps DEATH METAL of a cool and cruising and above all crushing aspect. Unsurprisingly, Into The Blackness garnered widespread acclaim, and heightened anticipation for the band's inevitable first full-length.
At last, it arrives under the ominous title Kingdom Of Decay. Darkened here have undergone a slight lineup shift, with Kahan departing as bassist and Tobias Cristiansson (Grave / ex-Dismember) taking his place - another underground veteran whose presence is perfect for the band's increasingly confident crush. Everything on Kingdom Of Decay is an intensification of that short-but-sweet debut EP: the riffs more patient but punishing, the doom darker and doled out more effectively, the songs more world-eating whilst effectively exploring a greater wealth of dynamics and, it must be said, atmosphere.
Elsewhere, the winning formula of Into The Blackness remains largely unchanged - the stately, steely pulse of later Bolt Thrower or the subsequent Memoriam dusted with the classy melodicism of A Canorous Quintet and successors This Ending, but all done with a touch that's somewhere between comfortably familiar and subtly unique - and you can now also add a touch of the tank-like onslaught of prime Grave, with everything given a gleaming crush courtesy of the mixing by Tobbe Sillman (General Surgery) and mastered by the one and only Dan Swanö (Edge Of Sanity) in the famous Unisound Studio in Sweden. This is what debut-album dreams are made of... or nightmares!
Graced with unforgettably austere cover artwork courtesy of Juanjo Castellano Rosado (Unleashed, The Black Dalhia Murder, Gates Of Ishtar), Darkened's Kingdom Of Decay is guaranteed to be one of the death metal albums of the year. Death metal for death metal maniacs, by death metal maniacs!
Pre-order info for all editions can be found here. Aforementioned cover art and tracklisting are as follows:
"Nekros Manteia"
"Dead Body Divination"
"1000 Years"
"Pandemonium"
"Cage Of Flesh"
"The Burning"
"The Old Ones"
"Kingdom Of Decay"
"Of Unsound Mind"
"The White Horse Of Pestilence"
"Winds Of Immortality"

Watch SEPULTURA's ELOY CASAGRANDE Play SLIPKNOT's 'People = S**t'Video of SEPULTURA's Eloy Casagrande playing along to SLIPKNOT's classic song "People = Shit", from the 2001 album "Iowa", can be seen below.
Says Eloy about the clip: "No audio editing, no samples, no triggers. Audio recorded with the EAD10 plugged straight to my phone (using the device's camera to record the video).
"This album was recorded without a click track, which means that the tempo is volatile."
This past February, SEPULTURA singer Derrick Green told Australia's Everblack Media that Casagrande has had "a tremendous impact" on the group since he joined in 2011. "It's undeniable because he's such a strong force," he said. "He loves playing metal music. He's one of the most talented drummers I've ever seen, honestly. That power is consistent from beginning to the end. It really has rubbed off on all of us to really push ourselves further. He's such a perfect match for the band. He really is always influencing us in so many ways to really go beyond — above and beyond."
More than a year ago, Eloy told Drumtalk that he didn't care about the long-simmering feud between founding SEPULTURA members Max and Igor Cavalera and his current bandmates. "I respect all the history," he said. "I have total respect for the past drummers, Igor and Jean [Dolabella]. They are amazing guys, incredible guys, but we just live in the present. I really don't care what happened, what didn't happen. I respect all the music. I respect their music nowadays. It's just that we have to follow our path and that's it."
Casagrande joined SEPULTURA in 2011 as the replacement for Dolabella.
SEPULTURA's latest album, "Quadra", was released in February via Nuclear Blast. The LP was created at Sweden's Fascination Street Studios with renowned producer Jens Bogren.
SEPULTURA comprises Green, guitarist Andreas Kisser, bassist Paulo Xisto Pinto Jr. and Casagrande. 5

JEFF SCOTT SOTO To Release 'Wide Awake (In My Dreamland)' Solo Album In NovemberAcclaimed hard rock vocalist Jeff Scott Soto will release his new solo album, "Wide Awake (In My Dreamland)" on November 6 via Frontiers Music Srl. The follow-up to 2017's "Retribution" was co-written and produced by Frontiers Music Srl's in-house producer Alessandro Del Vecchio.
The first single from "Wide Awake (In My Dreamland)" will be made available on Wednesday, September 16.
Frontiers Music Srl has released the first in a series of webisodes featuring behind-the-scenes footage from the making of "Wide Awake (In My Dreamland)". Check it out below.
Says Jeff: "Frontiers came to me and reminded me that it's time for another solo album, and this actually makes solo album number seven. If you include all the live stuff and the 'Essential Ballads', that's 12 releases in the past 18 years.
"As we're going into the two-decade mark with Frontiers Records, they wanted me to partner up with my dear friend Alessandro Del Vecchio, who's pretty much proven himself as a house writer, producer, musician, songwriter — I mean, you name it," he continued. "The guy is a jack of all trades and a master of all.
"So Alessandro produced the entire record. He wrote all the songs. He actually played on all the songs. He sent me the original demos, and he's playing everything. I wrote all the lyrics to all the melody ideas on the road, and I literally came off a two-month tour, with maybe three days off, and I dove straight into recording the vocals of this album here at my home studio."
Soto's career spans over thirty years. He was first introduced to the public as the vocalist for guitar virtuoso Yngwie Malmsteen's iconic first two solo albums before going on to front esteemed hard rock band TALISMAN. He is also one of the vocalists for the wildly popular TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA, the lead vocalist for super group W.E.T. (featuring JSS alongside members of ECLIPSE and WORK OF ART), creative visionary for the more metal leaning Soto, and frontman for the supergroup SONS OF APOLLO (which also features Mike Portnoy, Derek Sherinian, Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal and Billy Sheehan), among many other musical activities he has been and is involved in. He also held a stint fronting Rock And Roll Hall Of Famers JOURNEY and was one of the vocalists for the officially sanctioned QUEEN tribute QUEEN EXTRAVAGANZA. His incredible voice has led to many an artist inviting him to do guest lead vocals or background vocals on their albums, including, but not limited to, STRYPER, Joel Hoekstra, SAIGON KICK, Fergie Frederiksen, Lita Ford, STEELHEART, and more.
In 1994, he released his first solo outing, "Love Parade", followed by the acclaimed "Prism" (2002), "Lost In The Translation" (2005), "Beautiful Mess" (2009), "Damage Control" (2012) and the aforementioned "Retribution".

A video for the track, directed by Matt Mahurin, will make its online debut this Thursday night at midnight EDT / 9:00 p.m. PDT.

The band also previously covered TEARS FOR FEARS' "Shout" in 2000 and GENESIS's "Land Of Confusion" in 2005, the latter of which landed at position No. 1 on the Mainstream Rock chart.

This past June, DISTURBED confirmed the rescheduled 2021 dates for its "The Sickness 20th Anniversary Tour", co-produced by Frank Productions and Live Nation. The amphitheater tour, with very special guest STAIND and BAD WOLVES, will begin on July 7, 2021 at iTHINK Financial Amphitheatre and all previously purchased tickets will be honored for their rescheduled dates. SEBASTIAN BACH Records Quarantine Cover Of STEVE PERRY's 'Oh Sherrie' (Video)Sebastian Bach has recorded a quarantine cover version of former JOURNEY singer Steve Perry's 1984 solo hit "Oh Sherrie".
Bach uploaded the video to his social media, saying: "Bored in my house after seven months, decided to put on a record and sing a song for you.
"For all you audiophiles out there, what you are hearing right here is my voice panned either to the left or the right or both of Steve Perry's voice which is in the center which I left alone," he explained. "So technically this is a duet, my voice is louder in the mix than the track and you can hear us both. I do not have pro tools installed on my computer, this is at the most two of my voices in the chorus only. Crank it up right from my record room to yours!"
Back in 2018, Bach credited Perry with helping him expand his vocal range.
The former SKID ROW frontman praised the the ex-JOURNEY singer after spending time with Perry at a birthday party thrown by ALICE IN CHAINS guitarist Jerry Cantrell.
Bach posted a photo of him hanging out with Perry at the bash, and wrote in the accompanying note: "Got to spend the afternoon with one of my top two favorite singers on the planet, Steve Perry of JOURNEY fame. It was so great to see him again. We talked about the last time we saw each other which was way back in 1991 the day that Nikki Sixx asked me to join MÖTLEY CRÜE at their rehearsal in Hollywood, California. That day, Steve Perry was there and introduced me to his daughter, which, he told me, she still talks about to this day. Haha!
"It was incredible to see Steve who looked exactly the same as he always has and talk about how his vocals have helped me over the years.
"When I get ready to go on tour, I warm up to Steve Perry's incredible singing and it's helped me expand my range over the years, as you can hear on my last couple of studio records.
"Steve's voice is so incredible to listen to and such an inspiration to all vocalists worldwide."
Bach has spent the last few months demoing material for his next studio album. The LP is expected to include guest appearances and songwriting contributions from Orianthi, John 5, Steve Stevens, Devin Bronson, Brent Woods, Eli Santana and Jeremy Colson.
Bach hasn't released a full-length disc since "Give 'Em Hell", which came out in 2014.

RUSH's GEDDY LEE Confirms He's Not Dead After Trending On TwitterRUSH bassist/vocalist Geddy Lee has shot down rumors that he has died.
Earlier today (Tuesday, September 8), the Canadian rock legend's name trended on Twitter, leading many to worry he had passed away.
Well, worry not! Geddy tweeted in response to the speculation: "Even I gulped when I saw I was trending on Twitter, but I asked my dogs and apparently I'm a bit boring but otherwise fine... - #GeddyLee"
The rumors of Lee's passing came eight months after the death of Neil Peart. The iconic RUSH drummer died on January 7 in Santa Monica, California after a three-year battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. He was 67 years old.
RUSH announced Peart's passing on January 10, setting off shockwaves and an outpouring of grief from fans and musicians all over the world.
RUSH's final show took place at the Forum in Los Angeles on August 1, 2015. Peart indicated at the time that he wanted to retire while he was still able to play well, along with a desire to spend more time at home with his young daughter.
Peart joined RUSH in 1974. He was considered one of the best rock drummers of all time, alongside John Bonham of LED ZEPPELIN; Keith Moon of THE WHO; and Ginger Baker of CREAM. Peart was also RUSH's primary lyricist, drawing inspiration from everything from sci-fi to Ayn Rand.
Geddy's book "Geddy Lee's Big Beautiful Book Of Bass" was released in December 2018.

JOYOUS WOLF Release Mother Rebel EP; Live Video For Title TrackSouthern California rock quartet Joyous Wolf released the four-song Mother Rebel EP via Roadrunner Records on September 4th. The EP features the original version of the thunderous title track, along with acoustic and live versions. The release also includes an acoustic version of "Feel The Low". The EP is available now at this location.
"The story of 'Mother Rebel' is centered around the perspectives of two young adolescents living in pre-Civil War America: one in the South and the other in the North," the band says. "They are both witnessing the growing, unruly tension of the world around them, brought on, in part, by the publication of Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe. In the North, abolitionists praised her as a hero. Her honest depiction of the inhumanity of slavery boosted the public consciousness forward. In the South, however, her book was banned. She was labeled a liar and completely discredited. The adolescents are told completely opposing stories. The world around them divides and plunges into war. Using Stowe as a speaker shows the warning of man's ignorance and lust for violence and that with proper guidance we can always rise above even the darkest of times."
Joyous Wolf — Nick Reese (vocals), Blake Allard (guitar), Greg Braccio (bass), Robert Sodaro (drums) — also shared an electromagnetic live performance video of "Mother Rebel", which was filmed during the same studio sessions in which the EP audio was recorded. The visuals are trippy while the clip crackles with the band's signature live intensity. It will make viewers feel as if they were front row center at a Joyous Wolf show.

"Mother Rebel" (Live)
"Feel The Low" (Acoustic)
"Our acoustic version of 'Feel The Low'. We are happy so share this moment with all of you during this time. We hope that it adds a little joy to your day," says Joyous Wolf. "Remember to keep your head up and to pick up the people who can't themselves. Be good to each other!"

Progressive Death Metal Titans CONTRARIAN Release "In A Blink Of An Eye" VideoProgressive death metal titans Contrarian are set to release their fourth album, Only Time Will Tell, November 20th on Willowtip Records! Kicking things off in grand fashion, the band has premiered the official video for opening track "In A Blink Of An Eye". Check it out below.
The "new school of old school progressive death metal" is how Contrarian is described; creating death metal that is authentically original with a natural memory and understanding of the old. Rooted in early '90s progressive death metal, but with an unrelenting forward-thinking approach. Spearheaded by guitar player Jim Tasikas, Contrarian is a group of like-minded musicians that coincidentally converged on a vision of what a modern death metal band should sound like. Organic sounding, yet aggressive and melodically complex, Contrarian is packed with snake-like riffage and atmospheric variations that will provide a wholly enticing listen to all those willing to take in its eccentricity.
Contrarian is thinking man's metal, both musically and lyrically. The band uses methods of fantasy and escapism to convey ideas involving philosophy, theology, and science. Contrarian has been on a campaign to promote thinking man’s metal for a long time. Organic and passionate playing, dignified studio recording methods that reflects an understanding of the craft competence, evolution and succession of diverse metal history over decades.
Only Time Will Tell is Contrarian's fourth studio album. Once again, a concept album that deals with the band's familiar topics of philosophy and theology. This time, the band's mascot 'the cloaked contrarian' endeavors on an adventure of time travel for redemption and love.
Tracklisting:
"In A Blink Of An Eye"
"The Final Hour"
"Beat The Clock"
"Case Closed"
"The Mega Metropolis"
"Scarlet Babylon"
"Only Time Will Tell"
"Your Days Are Numbered"

OLD MOTHER HELL Stream "Betrayal At The Sea" From Lord Of Demise, Due In OctoberEmerging German power trio Old Mother Hell returns October 23rd with their sophomore album, Lord Of Demise. Eight songs of true, trend-proof metal, Lord Of Demise will be available on Cruz Del Sur Music.
Stream the opening track "Betrayal At The Sea" now:
Recorded in early 2020 at Rama Tonstudio in Mannheim with Jens Seifert, with additional vocal tracking taking place at Sculpt Sound Studios in Cologne with Laurent Teubl, Lord Of Demise perfectly captures the essence of Old Mother Hell, who consist of Bernd Wener (guitars / vocals), Ronald Senft (bass) and Michael Frölich (drums).
They are a rarity in today’s metal scene: authentic and gimmick-free, devoid of any sort of convenient retro leanings for the sake of abiding by the metal scene’s sometimes unrealistic rulebook. Their sound is pure, driven by Wener’s lead-weight and versatile riffs, Senft’s driving bass lines and Frölich’s stellar timekeeping. Tight and in lock-step with one another — the direct result of their hectic live schedule in support of their 2017 self-titled debut — Old Mother Hell took the unorthodox and now rarely-taken step of recording Lord Of Demise live, with each member in the same room at the same time. In turn, the album sounds powerful and crisp, stacked with eight songs that embrace their classic metal roots.
What you see is what you get with Old Mother Hell, a band, who, in their own words is “playing their music out of fun and dedication.” That’s a recipe that’s hard to argue with. On Lord Of Demise, Old Mother Hell prove they are the ultimate purveyors of real, handmade metal.
Tracklisting:
"Betrayal At The Sea"
"Avenging Angel"
"Lord Of Demise"
"Estranged"
"Edge Of Time"
"Shadows Within"
"Another Fallen Savior"
"Finally Free"

GALLOWS CIRCUS Unveil "Medicine Man" Single / Video"Medicine Man" is the powerful new single from highly rated UK rock act Gallows Circus. Following on from the success of their well-received track "Hell’s Whiskey", the band build on that momentum with this riff-laden cut.
Kent-based ‘blues stained’ hard rock act Gallows Circus have been building quite a formidable reputation across the country with their unmissable brand of hard and heavy rock. Their influences are myriad; from the power of Zeppelin through the melodic genius of Thin Lizzy, onto the modern blues-rock of Rival Sons and the hard edge of Soundgarden, Gallows Circus manage to make a sound all of their own.
Gallows Circus will release their upcoming second EP, II, on September 25th. It sees the acclaimed quartet demonstrating a more focussed, intensely melodic, and hard-hitting sound. The band are coming out swinging!

Here Is What METALLICA's First Drive-In Concert Looked LikeOn Saturday night (August 29), METALLICA broadcast a show to hundreds of drive-in and outdoor theaters across the U.S. and Canada, as part of the "Encore Drive-In Nights" series. The concert was filmed nearly three weeks earlier, on August 10, at the Gundlach Bundschu winery, about a 30-minute car ride from the band's headquarters in San Rafael, California, and was subsequently edited and mixed by the band's award-winning production team to the highest standards possible.
Attendees were able to listen to the show through their FM radio or over the faraway speakers.
"What people don't realize is that is a far clearer version of audio than the normal stacks and racks that you would see at a show," Walter Kinzie, CEO of Encore Live, told the Albuquerque Journal ahead of the event. "And so the audio will be crystal clear. It was all produced in HD stereo format so it will be an absolute perfect combo for your FM station in your truck and your car and just crank it up and get ready and I'll tell you that's part of the magic of that evening is when you're in there with a couple hundred cars and everyone has got their radios cranked up and it's all to the same station it creates this real magical kind of atmosphere that's a hell of a lot of fun and super rowdy."
According to the Sonoma Index-Tribune, less than half a dozen locals were made aware that the biggest heavy metal band in the world was set up overlooking the vineyard of the Sonoma winery secretly performing some of their biggest hits without an audience.
The band rehearsed for two weeks at their headquarters while the METALLICA crew stayed in 30 rooms at Sonoma's El Pueblo Inn for almost two weeks. Everyone was subjected to repeated COVID testing before METALLICA played the secret concert without any of their fans in attendance.
"It feels good to play again," METALLICA frontman James Hetfield said during the show. "We're not sure what everyone out there has been doing, but I know they've been listening to music and they've been praying and praying for something live they could grasp on to. Because music helps us through all things, including this."
The band's setlist was as follows:
01. Hardwired
02. For Whom The Bell Tolls
03. Fuel
04. Seek & Destroy
05. Creeping Death
06. One
07. Now That We're Dead
08. Sad But True
09. Moth Into Flame
10. The Unforgiven
11. Wherever I May Roam
12. Fade To Black
13. Master Of Puppets
14. Battery
15. Nothing Else Matters
16. Enter Sandman
METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett told Uproxx about the concert: "We filmed the actual drive-in show about two weeks ago, at a secret location in Northern California. And it was the first time that we had gotten together since [last September's] 'S&M' shows. It was really important for us to be able to come together and play that particular show, because we needed to just get some sort of semblance of, if we're going to go forward in the future, how that was going to look with the pandemic going, and all of these safety protocols. We adapted this whole safety protocol so that we were able to work at HQ, and rehearse without us having any fears of being infected, or infecting other people. What that meant was getting tested for COVID, literally every other day. That week of rehearsal, I got tested for COVID five times… It also meant that our entire crew had to have face masks on. A double face mask, which was a paper mask and an N95 mask, [plus] a face shield, and a raincoat, and gloves, and sanitize, and just spray our guitars. That was while we were rehearsing. While we were filming, we were the only people in the whole place without masks on. Everyone else had masks on. And everyone, from the crew to us, had been tested, and quarantined as well. We were able to do that, and do that successfully without any health flare-ups, or any obvious sort of potential of getting infected. So that kind of set a precedent for us moving forward. It gave us hope, knowing that with all this that’s happening right now, if we need to, we can still get together and function as a band."
Asked what fans should expect from the resulting feature-length film, Hammett said: "Full balls-out METALLICA show. We're filmed playing outside, and it's everything you should expect to see from us. We walk out on stage and play our music. It's just the 2020 version. If anything, it's a document of us playing in this time. And it's also an opportunity for us to just put something out there for the people who are bored, and for METALLICA fans who need something to do. I know I'm constantly looking for something to do. And so this is our way of going out there and just giving people something."
Thank you to everyone across North America who rolled out to their local drive-in last night. It was amazing getting...

BLACKTOP MOJO - Video From Back Porch Performance Of AEROSMITH Classic "Dream On""One hot summer night, on a back porch in Oklahoma, we played a private, socially distanced, acoustic show for some friends, and at the end of the night decided to do a song that we haven't done in quite a while," says Blacktop Mojo. That song is Aerosmith's "Dream On".
Blacktop Mojo originally uploaded their cover of "Dream On" by Aerosmith to YouTube in 2016. The clip, which can be seen below, has since been viewed over 18 million times.
Earlier this year, in May 2020, Blacktop Mojo released a four-song EP titled Static. Get your copy now at this location.
"Most of these songs were written before we wrote the songs for the Under The Sun record (released in 2019), and for them to finally have a home gives me the warm and fuzzies," says vocalist Matt James. "These songs were very personal, but turning a bunch of painful times into something positive has been incredibly helpful to me. I hope that when people hear these tunes, they might not feel so alone in their struggles."
"Thank you to everyone at @the_orchard_ that helped us with this project and thank you to everyone that continues to crank up our music. I am so very thankful that I get to live the life that I live."

BraveWords Feature Preview: FLOTSAM AND JETSAM “Pretty Much Done” With New Album Says MICHAEL GILBERTDuring this pandemic, a wrench has been thrown into machinery of creativity, bands that would normally be working collectively on ideas in some jam space or garage as it were. That ain’t happening. And when you’ve got an elite and financially sound band like Metallica feeling these pressures (Lars Ulrich to NME yesterday) you know it’s serious. Not that Flotsam And Jetsam are immune to these hurdles, but they’ve always fought for their territory. The ultimate survivalists. And it’s not business as usual for the Arizonians either, but no virus is gonna take them down. Flotz Till Death indeed!
Longtime guitarist Michael Gilbert says the new album is “pretty much done,” he tells BraveWords in a preview of a major feature you’ll see next week. “It’s like an assembly line kind of thing - we try to have 10 or 12 keepers, but if something pops out that’s better, we’ll take whatever the worst one is and shuffle it away, put it on the shelf for another time. We don’t want to have any sleeper tracks on the record at all.”
Flotsam And Jetsam’s last studio album, The End Of Chaos, was released in January 2019, and most certainly didn’t signal a grand finale like the title might have suggested. The mighty Flotzilla still roars.
“We’re trying to maintain consistency with our records now,” Gilbert adds about the musical direction. “We’ve been all over the map for so many years, and now we’re starting to write, ever since the self-titled record, from The End Of Chaos to the next one, they’re going to have titles that are kind of related. Drift was kind of an experiment for us, we were all over the map, it was so different from our very first record Doomsday For The Deceiver. If you listen to them both next to each other you would say it isn’t even the same band. So if you listen to these three, including the one we’re writing right now, the most current records, you’re gonna say this is definitely all the same band. Even though all the songs are different, you can tell. We’re not sticking to the same formula or anything like that - a lot of bands have a formula that they stick to and they always sound the same - and they’re always successful and they never let their fans down. For me, that’s kind of boring.
When asked where he finds the zone of ultimate creation during these troubled times, Gilbert’s answer is calm and cool like the man himself.
“Man, that’s one of the best questions right there. It’s nothing you can force, it has to happen naturally. You don’t know where inspiration is going to come from. Sometimes I’ll just sit in my studio and listen to music, and the next thing you know I’ve got a guitar in my hand because I’m inspired by something, by a player, or I’ll want to learn a riff from somebody. Then that riff, I’ll change it around, and next thing you know I’ve got a song. Other times I’ll just sit down and play and it’ll suck and I’ll say man I should go get a job! So, the inspiration can happen anytime, but whenever I get that buzz, something happens. I’m supposed to do guitar solos today and every time I open up my Pro Tools set, I’m getting the spinning wheel of death, I can’t open any of my sessions. I’m ready to go, I’m like a horse that’s just ready at the gate, but the gate’s failing.”
Stay tuned for BraveWords’ chat with founding Flotsam And Jetsam guitarist Michael Gilbert in the coming days.

TRIUMPH – RIK EMMETT Didn’t Speak To Bandmates For 20 Years After Leaving BandSpeaking to Antihero Magazine, Rik Emmett revealed he didn’t talk to his Triumph bandmates, Gil Moore and Mike Levine, after leaving the band in 1988.
Asked how he views his time with Triumph and whether he tires of being asked about it rather than being focused on the present, Emmett says, “Yeah. Well, I suppose everyone faces that dilemma in their life. If you’re someone who has a certain amount of success or popularity, a commercial sort of thing that existed in your past, that’s going to loom even larger and become more of an ongoing thing that you deal with. But I’ve never really had the … Here’s how to put it in perspective. In 1988, I quit Triumph, and I left and I didn’t talk to those guys for 20 years. If anything’s going to give you a perspective, something like will be able to put it into perspective. I think I went on to do a lot of work on my own, more albums than Triumph ever made. I wrote more songs. I tried more styles. I did all of the things that I wanted to do. So now that I’ve come back full circle and here I am talking about Triumph’s life and its legacy and the fact that Round Hill Records has put out their stuff, at the same time, Round Hill picked up all of my stuff and they put all my stuff out. I’ve still got a website, and I’ve still got 24 new tracks that are on my website. So I’ve still got a currency here in the present that occupies me creatively and is my focus and is my priority. Having said all that, everybody chooses what their priorities are. My family has always been my priority. So my marriage, my family, my grandkids now, that’s always going to be the thing that keeps me in the present and looking forward.”
Rik Emmett of Triumph fame recently joined Anne Erickson to talk about his solo music becoming available digitally, the upcoming Triumph documentary, and much more.
Anne: Something that people are looking forward to is this Triumph documentary. Have you seen the whole thing yet?
Rik: "I saw a rough cut — well, I wouldn’t say rough cut, I think I saw the final edit – just a couple of days ago. There are still a few little things they’ve got to clean up, some titling that goes at the bottom, and they have some animation sequences that sort of get you from one thing to another, and they’re not quite finished up yet. But, it’s exceptional. It’s really something. It’s very surreal. It’s like, this is your life, Rik. But, it’s one person’s — well, two people, really — the editor Mark and Sam Dunn, who’s the Banger Films guy. He’s really smart, and he really knows his stuff. He’s told the stories of so many other bands, that now, he sort of realizes, I’ve got to focus this down and figure out what is the story that I want to tell about this band.
It’s only going be the one story. It’s not going to be my story, and it’s not going to be Michael Levine’s story or Gil Moore’s story. It’s going to be what Sam has decided he’s going to tell from the research that he’s done and the stuff that he’s garnered and the footage that’s available. It’s a compelling story, and it’s kind of weird to see it, sort of the rise, the fall, the rise again, and then the end, all the Walk of Fame and all of the lovely things, and now, the making of this documentary. We did a fan fest, which was a thing where they could shoot fans seeing the band, and we rehearsed, and the band actually played three songs live for these fans that they flew in from all over the world. That was unbelievable. That was just an insane kind of emotional thing for us to reunite and play that. It was kind of like the capper of all the story, coming back around full circle and finishing in a really good, positive, solid way. The documentary crew captured it all on two dozen cameras from every angle. So, it’s something, for sure."
Anne: When you were first starting out with Triumph, did you have any idea that you guys would have the kind of success that you did?
Rik: "Hope springs eternal, right? I think when you start off anything, I think everybody starts off and you have the best intentions. You dream big. Then the reality sets in, and the hard work starts, but then little things will happen along the way. In the first few years of the band, it would be enough that it was like, let’s keep this going. Then, around the four or five year mark, some really good things started to happen. Then you start to go, 'Wow, this could really happen.' The dream that you had is now it’s altering, but it’s also getting fueled, so that now you feel like, this is within reach. I think I always had a positive attitude. The band was called Triumph! (Laughs)
One of the things the documentary will make very clear to everybody is that Gil Moore has this tremendous resource. He’s extremely persistent. He’s very, very focused and ambitious and driven, even more than I am. I feel like I’m a fairly focused, ambitious kind of guy, but it’s more about creativity for me. I would fight to the death about a song of mine, whereas Gil would fight to the death to get on a billing and a show in San Diego on a Thursday night. He just was really, really strong willed. I think that’s a part of it, that he never lost sight of, I’m going for this. We are going for it. He was the guy that picked the name! So, the band reflected a great deal of his steely resolve."

JACK OSBOURNE Praises 'The Nine Lives Of OZZY OSBOURNE' Documentary: 'They Killed It'Ozzy, Sharon and Jack Osbourne recently sat down with SiriusXM's Jim Norton for a virtual Town Hall special on Ozzy's exclusive SiriusXM channel, Ozzy's Boneyard. The Osbournes spoke with SiriusXM host Jim Norton about their new documentary "Biography: The Nine Lives Of Ozzy Osbourne", which will premiere this Monday (September 7) at 9:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on A&E.
Speaking about how "Biography: The Nine Lives Of Ozzy Osbourne" manages to unveil so much new information on the legendary BLACK SABBATH singer, Jack said: "Honestly, I can't take credit for that. It was our director, Greg Johnston. He just did a fantastic job. He worked with us since 'The Osbournes'; he was one of the original executive producers of the show. So he knows us so well; he knows the sensibility.
"Any time in the past when I've done screenings for mum on 'God Bless Ozzy' or anything kind of Osbourne-related, there's often notes [that she would give me]. And the first time mum came into the office to watch, it wasn't even a complete cut — it was probably like two-thirds done — I think the one note was that picture is out of place and you need to move that picture to this time frame.
"They killed it," Jack added. "For me, and I kind of tell people when they watch it, I think the last act and kind of what it all means, I guess what we were trying to put across, I just love that last act of the doc. It's so moody. And you've got [producer] Rick Rubin really kind of talking about dad's legacy and things like that. It's a moving, moving last [act] to kind of tail-end it."
"Biography: The Nine Lives Of Ozzy Osbourne" traces Ozzy's life from his childhood in poverty and time in prison, to fronting legendary Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductees BLACK SABBATH and successful Grammy Award-winning solo career, to one of rock's elder statesman and a loveable 21st century television dad. The two-hour documentary explores how Ozzy has continually reinvented himself and his career to propel himself toward greater success. As Ozzy turns 70, he reflects on the intimate details of his successes, failures, and his unique ability for survival and perseverance —including never-before-seen interviews about his recent Parkinson's diagnosis. The documentary, a selection of the 2020 SXSW Film Festival, also features interviews with Sharon, Kelly and Jack Osbourne as well as friends and fellow musicians, including Rick Rubin, Ice-T, Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie, Jonathan Davis, Post Malone and more.
"Biography: The Nine Lives Of Ozzy Osbourne" is produced by Osbourne Media and Critical Content for A&E Network. The documentary is produced and directed by R. Greg Johnston. Executive producers for Osbourne Media are Sharon Osbourne, Ozzy Osbourne, Jack Osbourne and Peter Glowski. Executive producer for Critical Content is Jenny Daly. LB Horschler is a co-executive producer. Executive producers for A&E Network are Elaine Frontain Bryant and Brad Abramson. A+E Networks holds worldwide distribution rights for "Biography: The Nine Lives Of Ozzy Osbourne".
