In just a decade, Deserted Fear have grown out of death metal's underground in a rapid tempo. Today they vividly teach the meaning of fear to their international fellows. Not only that their last work, Dead Shores Rising, climbed into the Top 50 of Germany's album charts, they even played their distinct groove into the hearts and ears of thousands with a steady and overwhelming live presence in Europe and on countless festivals. Not to forget the impressive list of club shows: Wherever they made trouble, they always came off as winners of the night.
On February 8th, their fourth studio album, Drowned By Humanity, will hit the streets. For the first time Deserted Fear hoist the sails off to emotions, establishing a forcing contrast to their gigantic groove grenades. Deserted Fear create spaces that make your mind exploring itself. And that's also the lyrical content of Drowned By Humanity: Question society. Environment, downfall and departure. In a forthright storm of blasphemy Deserted Fear remind nature protection and exhort the carelessness of people. The young and wild latitude is still on fire, while their grown-up earnestness alter the course.
This time none other than the Swedish producer Henrik Udd took them by the hand. He paid his dues in world famous Studio Fredman that stands out for inventing the Swedish death metal sound with bands like In Flames, At The Gates, Soilwork and Arch Enemy.
Feeling the power and endless energy to glide into new worlds that evolve out of fascinating creativity. Drowned By Humanity is such a bloodcurdling refreshment.

CURRENTS Premier "Forever Marked" Music VideoConnecticut metal band, Currents, have released a video for "Foever Marked", featured on the band's new EP, I Let The Devil In, out now via their label SharpTone Records. Watch the clip below, and get the EP here.
“”Forever Marked” is a song about the separation and degradation of society through human error & conflict. We’ve touched on this subject before, but we really wanted to capture violence and the feelings of aggression & urgency to accompany the message.” - Brian Wille
“Forever Marked” is one of 5 new songs that have been in the works for several years and are finally seeing fruition for a record that further demonstrates the band’s intensity and ability to craft incredible and dynamic music that’s both highly skilled and accessible.
“We chose to do an EP so that we could take the liberty of stretching our sound out in a condensed fashion. We tried to make every song as different from one another as possible, while still maintaining one core vibe. These songs are meant to test our strengths and our limits, and we are very excited to hear all of your feedback; as it will potentially shape future music to come.” - Brian Wille
The new record was produced by Ryan Leitru of the band For Today and follows the band’s acclaimed 2017 album, The Place I Feel Safest.

CANE HILL Drop “Acid Rain” VideoNew Orleans four-piece Cane Hill will release a brand new record titled Kill the Sun via Rise Records on January 18, 2019.
The band has just shared the new video for the trippy track "Acid Rain."
"We spent the summer working on new Cane Hill music," the band said. "We've embraced the weirder and mellower side of what we do, as it's something we think is important to our band. With that in mind, we've been in the studio with the incredibly talented Kris Crummett, working on music that embellishes those elements. It's six songs of dark, twisted, and semi-acoustic beauty. We're incredibly proud of it and can't wait for you to hear it."
The band continued, “We wanted to embrace some leftover emotions we've been dealing with since getting our shit together while exploring our own musical limitations. We made this semi-acoustic record because we needed to for ourselves — and because honestly, why the fuck not?"
Cane Hill will hit the road again this winter supporting Sevendust.

HISS FROM THE MOAT Debuts "The Harrier" Lyric VideoHiss From The Moat - the transcontinental black/death metal band founded by acclaimed drummer James Payne (Vital Remains, Hour Of Penance) - have unveiled a lyric video for the title track of their sophomore album, The Harrier, due out via M-Theory Audio on February 22nd. The clip can be seen below.
The song can also be streamed on Spotify, Apple Music and other digital platforms. In addition, the M-Theory webshop has launched the pre-order for The Harrier, which is available on CD and limited-edition moat-black vinyl (200 copies). Digital pre-orders via Bandcamp include an instant download of the title track.
“The song, ‘The Harrier,’ represents the identity of the album both for the instrumental part and the lyrics. The instrumental part is composed by many dynamic parts that create crescendos that then explode into more opened and epic parts, which is also how we composed the album itself -- powerful, but not only fast,” explains drummer James Payne. “The lyrics, instead, are composed from extracts of sacred and political texts (as it's indicated from the inscription in brackets) that, isolated and used in a more direct way, express and show how violent and brutal these books are, and sums up a good part of what the album itself talks about.
"The video is composed from the lyrics that are supported from some illustrations that represent what the lyrics are saying. We chose to do this as a reference to how the illustrations were used in the past, to explain to whoever couldn't read, what was written in the sacred texts. We wanted to do the same thing here since, nowadays, almost everybody can read, but everyone have their own interpretation of whatever is written, instead, since we have a specific and clear message to deliver, we've used the images to kind of have the same role that they had in the past -- to explain to whoever gets our message, the meaning of it, to avoid misinterpretations.”
The Harrier - which features cover artwork by Stefano Bonora - was recorded, mixed and mastered at Milan's SPVN Studio with Stefano Orkid Santi, who produced the latest Cripple Bastards album and previously worked as live engineer for bands such as Origin, Suffocation and Cattle Decapitation.
The US-based Payne formed Hiss From The Moat with two Italian friends - bassist/vocalist Carlo Cremascoli and guitarist Giacomo Poli - when he was just 18 years old. In 2009, the group self-released their debut EP, The Carved Flesh Message, which they supported by performing alongside the likes of Psycroptic, Skeletonwitch and The Black Dahlia Murder.
Four years later, Hiss From The Moat released their debut full-length, Misanthropy, via Lacerated Enemy/Nuclear Blast. The band's intense use of both extremes of death and black metal produced an album that stood alongside the delivery of acts such as Behemoth, Belphegor and Rotting Christ.
Following the release of the album, Hiss From The Moat embarked on an extensive tour across Russia, Europe and Asia, delivering aggressive and visually engaging performances backed by the blackened intensity of the band's new material. During this period, Payne left the legendary death metal act Vital Remains - a group he joined following a two-year stint with Italian death metal powerhouse Hour Of Penance - to focus full-time on Hiss From The Moat, and the band extended from a three-piece to a quartet with the addition of Max Cirelli (guitar/vocals).
Over the past two years, the band has toured extensively worldwide while working between the US and Italy to write The Harrier. Now, Hiss From The Moat aim to unleash another sonic onslaught that captures the band's range of death and black metal inspiration while creating a unique and intense presence in the world of extreme music.
Pre-order Hiss From The Moat’s The Harrier on CD or limited-edition vinyl, here.
Hiss From The Moat are:
Massimilano Cirelli - Guitar/Vocals
James Payne - Drums
Carlo Cremascoli - Bass/Vocals
Giacomo Poli - Guitar

Listen To First New CANDLEMASS Song Featuring Returning Singer JOHAN LÄNGQVIST"The Omega Circle" , a brand new song from Swedish doom metal legends CANDLEMASS, can be streamed below. The track is taken from the band's 12th album, "The Door To Doom", which will be released on February 22, 2019 via Napalm Records. The disc unsurprisingly follows the plotline mastermind, songwriter and bass player Leif Edling established in the past years: epic world-class doom metal that relies on slow mammoth riffing.
"The Door To Doom" features newly returned singer Johan Längqvist, who recently replaced CANDLEMASS's frontman of the past six years, Mats Levén. Also appearing on the record is none other than BLACK SABBATH's Tony Iommi, who contributes a guest solo to "Astorolus - The Great Octopus".
Commented Iommi: "CANDLEMASS are a major force in Scandinavian heavy rock and have always acknowledged the influence we had on their music. They asked if I'd contribute to a track which sounded pretty good so I thought, 'Why not?'"
Added Edling: "We feel very honoured that Tony Iommi said yes to play the solo on 'Astorolus'. The song was sent to the management and amazingly enough, the master agreed to let his mighty SG sing on the track! For me personally, this is a dream come true. Tony Iommi has always been my hero and guiding light when it comes to heavy music, so to hear that he likes the song and also would like to play on it gave me chills down the spine! I'm still in shock! But kudos to him to be so cool to even listen to it. Hats off! Tony Iommi is and will always be God!"
b>"The Door To Doom" track listing:
01. Splendor Demon Majesty
02. Under The Ocean
03. Astorolus - The Great Octopus (feat. Tony Iommi)
04. Bridge Of The Blind
05. Death's Wheel
06. Black Trinity
07. House Of Doom
08. The Omega Circle
Längqvist sang on CANDLEMASS's debut album, 1986's "Epicus Doomicus Metallicus", before exiting the group and being replaced by Messiah Marcolin.
CANDLEMASS's most recent full-length album, "Psalms For The Dead", came out in 2012 via Napalm Records. It was the last CANDLEMASS album recorded with singer Robert Lowe, who left the band just days before its release.
CANDLEMASS is:
Leif Edling: Bass
Mats "Mappe" Björkman: Guitars
Jan Lindh: Drums
Lars "Lasse" Johansson: Guitars

TOMMY THAYER Promises 'The Bombastic Show KISS Has Always Been Famed For' On 'End Of The Road' TourTommy Thayer has told Australia's Hysteria Magazine that KISS's upcoming "End Of The Road" farewell tour will be "the biggest" one the band has ever done "in terms of production." It will be "a whole new thing for KISS," the guitarist said. "It's just gonna be the bombastic show KISS has always been famed for."
Thayer also confirmed that "End Of The Road" will indeed be KISS's last tour.
"None of us is going to be around forever," he said. "A band like KISS is different to THE [ROLLING] STONES or Paul McCartney even — KISS is a whole different animal. There's physicality to it that has to be there, and, honestly, where Gene [Simmons] and Paul [Stanley] are at, they want to do this tour now while they still can do it in top form even though they're not getting any younger either, but we can still go out and kick some ass though.
"Who knows what could happen in a few years?" he continued. "The wheels could fall off. But in rock music, all these bands we all love and grew up with, everybody's getting old, so bands have to decide what they want to do.
KISS is timeless — the logo, the brand, the whole look, the imagery. That'll always sustain itself. The thing that's ending now for this band is being a touring band. I don't think there's any definitive plan."
In September, KISS announced its "End Of The Road" farewell tour on NBC's "America's Got Talent", and a month later, the band revealed the first set of dates and cities in North America, produced by Live Nation. International markets were announced simultaneously.
The first North American leg of "End Of The Road" will launch January 31 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada at Rogers Arena and will hit an additional 43 cities. 7

ASKING ALEXANDRIA Releases Animated Music Video For 'Vultures'ASKING ALEXANDRIA has released an animated music video for its latest single, "Vultures". The song is taken from ASKING ALEXANDRIA's self-titled fifth studio album, which was released in December 2017 via Sumerian Records. The disc marks the group's first full-length effort with singer Danny Worsnop since he rejoined ASKING ALEXANDRIA in the fall of 2016.
The "Vultures" clip was directed by T.G. Hopkins, with animation from Bento Box Entertainment. The video follows a challenging, dark and bleakly honest narrative that perfectly accompanies the lyrical theme of the song.
As blood drips from the puncture wounds of the hooks that attach strings to his hands and feet, Worsnop's bruised and beaten animated alter ego is manipulated by an ominous puppeteer claw through dimly lit streets, past terrifying headphone-clad pedestrians as he laments, "Everywhere I look, these vultures burn the life right out for me."
ASKING ALEXANDRIA guitarist Ben Bruce told Rock Sound about "Vultures": "'Vultures' is one of my favorite tracks on the album and there's a cool story behind it. I actually wrote it back in 2014 right after 'From Death To Destiny' came out and I showed it to Danny and he wrote the lyrics. It was at a time when there was so much turmoil in the band. It was right before everything exploded. As I've said, it spirals from the drugs and the alcohol and the industry constantly telling us to stay relevant and not have time off because there's a band right behind you. We would say, 'We need time off. We have been touring 340 days a year for the last two years.' We've been polled as one of the hardest-working musicians after Justin Bieber but the difference is he is flying around in a private jet and we're rolling round in a bus. So shit hit the fan, as everyone knows, and that saw the departure of Danny. That's what 'Vultures' is about. It's about everyone in suits behind the scenes pulling the strings. It addresses the inner struggle that we faced. It's a sad song. It's very raw and it's very honest and it's very open. I think it's one of the most beautiful songs on the record. It's this record's 'Moving On'. It was the last thing that Danny and me wrote together before his departure and it was the first thing that we recorded when he joined ASKING again. Danny came back and said, 'Every day that I've been away from ASKING ALEXANDRIA, I thought about this song. I haven't been able to get it out of my head. This can't be the end because we haven't put this song out.' When he came back, he sang that song from start to finish in one take and that's the take we used on the record."
uring his time away from ASKING ALEXANDRIA, Worsnop pursued a more traditional hard rock sound with his other project, WE ARE HARLOT, while ASKING ALEXANDRIA recruited a new singer, Denis Shaforostov, and released a fourth album, "The Black". Danny also issued a country-tinged solo album, "The Long Road Home", last year via Earache Records.
ASKING ALEXANDRIA will join SHINEDOWN and PAPA ROACH for the "Attention Attention" tour in early 2019.

Singer Klaus Dirks explains: "This song arose from a small idea which developed to something great. It grows around a simple piano melody that leads to an tremendous guitar solo. The whole song is carried by the piano, which creates an intimate and melancholy atmosphere, where the singer and his duet partner (here Ulli Perhonen of Snow White Blood) meet. CUTTHROAT LA Streaming “Crack The Code” VideoLos Angeles hardcore band Cutthroat LA has released a new video for the song "Crack The Code."
"Crack The Code" comes from the band's 2018 debut, self-titled album, produced by Billy Graziadei (Biohazard, Powerflo.) Cutthroat LA is made up of frontman Neil Roemer with Bobby Ponte on drums, Rogelio Lozano on guitar and Jason Birmingham on bass.
"Crack The Code" takes a picture of the difficult to control, despite the harmful consequences’ life of addition. About the song and video Roemer says, “When you travel down the dark path of drug abuse, your soul won’t travel with you.”
Using a mixture of hardcore, beatdown, 90’s hip-hop and thrash as a canvas to express their feelings about the world the members of Cutthroat LA are strongly motivated by political and religious chaos, injustice in the world and what’s really going on in the streets. OVERKILL: Lyric Video For New Song 'Last Man Standing'The official lyric video for the song "Last Man Standing" from New Jersey thrash metal veterans OVERKILL can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's 19th studio album, "The Wings Of War", which will be released on February 22, 2019 via Nuclear Blast. The disc was recorded at Gear Recording Studio in New Jersey, SKH Studio in Florida and Jrod Productions with engineering handled by bassist D.D. Verni and guitarist Dave Linsk. The album was produced by the band while Chris "Zeuss" Harris took care of the mixing and mastering. Travis Smith (NEVERMORE, OPETH, SOILWORK, DEATH) was again enlisted to create the artwork for the album.
"The Wings Of War" marks OVERKILL's recording debut with drummer Jason Bittner (SHADOWS FALL, FLOTSAM AND JETSAM), who joined the band last year.
Vocalist Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth comments: "The time has come for a first taste, 'Last Man Standing'. This cut got the unanimous nod to open 'The Wings Of War', all the way back to the first demos in March, so much so it was mock-titled 'Opener' up until the recording. Sometimes everyone is on the same page, WTF! So dig into some old-school thrash with a side order of Jersey made, headbanging."
"The Wings Of War" track listing:
1. Last Man Standing
02. Believe In The Fight
03. Head Of A Pin
04. Bat Shit Crazy
05. Distortion
06. A Mother's Prayer
07. Welcome To The Garden State
08. Where Few Dare To Walk
09. Out On The Road-Kill
10. Hole In My Soul
Ellsworth said: "It was a blast making 'The Wings Of War'! It is something old feeling new again, as our chemistry was altered by the addition of Jason Bittner. I was curious from the get-go, how would it pan out? I think what we accomplished here is a new, upgraded OVERKILL that embraced the new chemistry, while taking our roots into the present. The new formula produced not only more raw power, but more places to go with melody, a win, win. The key is being not only interested in the change, but part of it. I'll tell you what, it's still fun as hell making OVERKILL records.
Earlier this year, Ellsworth told Brian Aberback of Patch.com about the musical direction of OVERKILL's new material: "What I notice about it is that there are parts of it that delve into really classic heavy metal that are spawned off the riff. There's kind of a brutal metal riff and then there's a heavy metal riff. The brutal riff being more in the modern sense of OVERKILL but the classic riff goes back into the feel of 'Feel The Fire', 'Taking Over', 'The Years Of Decay' kind of influence.
"I think what we're doing is staying with that classic riff but adding the brutality after," he continued. "So it has the vibe of classic heavy metal with that spawned aggression off of it. Obviously, we're not going to be progressive or off the tracks with where we're going. It's OVERKILL. But the internal end of that is really exciting because we notice every little different nuance in it."
Asked what Jason has brought to the band, Ellsworth said: "He's put a lot of work into the album and his excitement has spread to all of us. He's the first person in this band who's deeply, technically trained. That's one of the most exciting things about this project. This guy is pretty close to a virtuoso when hitting the skins."
OVERKILL released the "Live In Overhausen" DVD and Blu-Ray on May 18 via Nuclear Blast. The set was recorded more than two years ago in Oberhausen, Germany, where OVERKILL celebrated the 25th anniversary of "Horrorscope" and 30th anniversary of "Feel The Fire" by performing both albums in their entirety.
OVERKILL is:
Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth - Vocals
D.D. Verni - Bass
Dave Linsk - Lead Guitar
Derek Tailer - Rhythm Guitar
Jason Bittner - Drums 18

LAMB OF GOD Guitarist's 'Anesthetic' Solo Album To Feature Guest Appearances By LINKIN PARK, PAPA ROACH MembersLAMB OF GOD guitarist Mark Morton will release a solo album titled "Anesthetic" on March 1, 2019 via WPP Records and Spinefarm Records. The disc's first single, "The Truth Is Dead", featuring guest vocals by LAMB OF GOD singer Randy Blythe and ARCH ENEMY frontwoman Alissa White-Gluz, can be streamed below.
"Anesthetic" was made alongside a dream team of highly respected musicians from a multitude of musical worlds; some friends and some who would never be expected to collaborate with metal genre leaders LAMB OF GOD.
Starting as idea between Jake (leader of heavy rock band ONI and founder of WPP Records), producer Josh Wilbur (LAMB OF GOD, TRIVIUM, ONI, GOJIRA), and Morton, the project quickly gathered steam — with Mark at the creative center, Josh Wilbur co-writing, recording, mixing, and producing, and Jake Oni also co-writing and performing.
Morton had been writing some of this debut for years. "This album wasn't a concerted effort to start something outside LAMB OF GOD," he explains. "Music is always in my head, and until I write and record it, it's stuck there. But once I record it, it's out. It's a catharsis, more for my own sanity."
ingers on the album include Chester Bennington (LINKIN PARK), Randy Blythe (LAMB OF GOD), Jacoby Shaddix (PAPA ROACH), Myles Kennedy (SLASH, ALTER BRIDGE), Alissa White-Gluz (ARCH ENEMY), Mark Lanegan, Chuck Billy (TESTAMENT), Jake Oni, Josh Todd (BUCKCHERRY), Mark Morales, and Naeemah Maddox. Musically, Morton performs all guitars, with Roy Mayorga (STONE SOUR), David Ellefson (MEGADETH), Ray Luzier (KORN), Paolo Gregoletto (TRIVIUM) and Alex Bent (TRIVIUM), Mike Inez (ALICE IN CHAINS), Jean-Paul Gaster (CLUTCH), Steve Gorman and Marc Paul rounding out the band.

"Feral Roots" was produced by Grammy Award winner Dave Cobb at Nashville's famed RCA Studio A, and the equally legendary Muscle Shoals Sound Studio in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Exclusive pre-order bundles are available via RivalSons.com, including limited-edition vinyl and autographed lithographs of the album's cover art, painted by renowned contemporary artist Martin Wittfooth. All pre-orders are joined by instant grat downloads of the recently released album tracks "Do Your Worst" and "Back In The Woods".
Rolling Stone hailed "Do Your Worst" as "a relentless rocker with a gritty verse spearheaded by a sinister lead guitar riff and thumping drums. The track takes a deft turn when it hits the chorus, forgoing out-and-out guitar bombast for rousing gang vocals with Buchanan leading the charge." "Do Your Worst" is joined by an official music video that shows rival sons at their onstage best, alongside behind-the-scenes footage and a performance filmed at the aforementioned Studio A.
"Back In The Woods" made its debut by way of Consequence Of Sound, which declared it to be "a rootsy rock track, with (RIVAL SONS) not only taking us 'Back In The Woods' but also back in time to big classic rock sounds of the '60s and '70s."
he primal intensity of "Feral Roots" reflects a certain unrest at the heart of the album, sparked by Buchanan's recent move to Tennessee. "With all the stimuli we're constantly receiving these days, I think a lot of people have a desire to live with more freedom and simplicity," noted Buchanan. "There's a longing for your truer nature to prevail, and to reclaim some sort of wildness." But with its nuanced explorations of art and love and truth, "Feral Roots" ultimately argues for pushing beyond pure survival instincts and striving for something more exalted: an unbreakable commitment to creating beauty of your own.
RIVAL SONS have announced their first full North American headline tour. The dates include stops at New York's Brooklyn Steel, Philadelphia's Union Transfer and Los Angeles's Henry Fonda Theatre. THE SHEEPDOGS will support all U.S. dates.
RIVAL SONS are: Jay Buchanan (vocals), Scott Holiday (guitar), Dave Beste (bass guitar) and Mike Miley (drums).

APOCALYPTICA: 'One' Video From 'APOCALYPTICA Plays Metallica by Four Cellos - A Live Performance'A performance video of "One", taken from APOCALYPTICA's new live set, "Apocalyptica Plays Metallica by Four Cellos - A Live Performance", can be seen below.
Two decades ago, APOCALYPTICA's first and most important album, "Plays Metallica By Four Cellos", was released, selling over 1.5 million copies to date and leading to a carefully remastered, critically acclaimed new album version with three bonus tracks in 2016.
In celebration of the trailblazing album's 20th anniversary, the avowed live band is honoring its career-defining release with the extensive "Plays Metallica By Four Cellos" world tour since early 2017.
The highly emotional, all-instrumental shows across the continents feature four cellos and a drum set and METALLICA covers only, taking audiences back to the sound and track listing of the original album as well as thrilling them with more METALLICA songs APOCALYPTICA covered over the years.
how-stopping highlights are cello versions of hits such as "Enter Sandman", "Master Of Puppets" and "Seek And Destroy", as well as incredibly dense encores like "Nothing Else Matters" and "One".
Just in time for the tour break, APOCALYPTICA has released the live recordings, "Apocalyptica Plays Metallica by Four Cellos - A Live Performance", as a 2CD+1DVD digipak as well as a digital album version on December 7.
The DVD delivers the band's full two-hour concert at the renowned Finnish Savonlinna Opera Festival in the breathtaking scenery of Olavinlinna Castle, featuring previously unreleased METALLICA covers. The accompanying CD/digital (and later vinyl) formats present the band's slightly heavier rock flavor, displayed at one of the band's three sold-out shows at the iconic Tavastia club in Helsinki in September.
This year's release will be followed by a lavish 3LP+1DVD+download code package dropping in 2019. 2

Germany's First Female Hard Rock Act ROSY VISTA Returns With 'Crazy' Lyric VideoThe official lyric video for the song "Crazy" from Germany's first female hard rock act ROSY VISTA can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's comeback album, "Unbelievable", which will be released on on February 8, 2019 via SPV/Steamhammer.
Graterol states: "The text from 'Crazy' actually dates back to our breakup in the early nineties. Back then, we were hit on an unbelievable amount by boys or men on tour. We love dealing with our audience in a charming and uncomplicated way, but we are not simply fair game. There were always men in the audience who thought they were the greatest: show-offs and dazzlers, who thought that we were each waiting only for them. But on stage we are 'look, but don't touch'! In fact, back then we actually only ever had music in our heads."
"Crazy" settles old scores with these supposed gigolos, but — and this is important to ROSY VISTA — with a little wink of the eye. This is not about pointing the finger, because the four ladies, with a hearty laugh, simply hold a mirror up to the faces of these self-proclaimed Prince Charmings.
ROSY VISTA was around for five years between 1984 and 1989. During this time, the group from Hanover helmed by Graterol, released one professionally produced EP and two singles. In addition, the band performed a multitude of spectacular concerts alongside legends such as URIAH HEEP, JOE COCKER, MANFRED MANN'S EARTH BAND and MÖTLEY CRÜE, among others. So the only career dream left unfulfilled for the five bandmembers was a proper album.
We'd been thinking about it for a number of years, but good ideas always take a while to mature, that's why it took a little longer," confesses Graterol, who has two more original bandmembers by her side, namely Andrea Schwarz (vocals) and Marina Hlubek (drums). The latest addition to the ROSY VISTA fold is bassist Angela Mann.
Another highlight: the cover artwork was designed by Circus Roncalli's Bernhard Paul and Steffen Maier. So mission accomplished! True to the motto "Good things come to those who wait", the four ROSY VISTA musicians have not only made their life's dream come true with "Unbelievable" but will also delight their many fans, which will no doubt culminate in loud applause at their official release party at the Hanover Musikzentrum on February 9.
"Unbelievable" will be released through SPV/Steamhammer on all digital formats in North America.

ICED EARTH Mainman JON SCHAFFER's PURGATORY: 'In Your Dreams' Lyric VideoICED EARTH mastermind Jon Schaffer has teamed up with his old pals in PURGATORY, the band that he originally founded in 1985, then later became ICED EARTH, to record five tracks that were written between 1985 and 1987, now to be released as the "Purgatory" EP on December 21 through Century Media. All five tracks featured on the EP offer real U.S. metal and perfectly capture the spirit of the mid 1980s with a powerful production, rounded up by liner notes or comments of Schaffer, Gene Adam, Greg Seymour and Bill Owen and fitting cover artwork by David Newman Stump and Roy Young, known from their excellent work on ICED EARTH's latest album, "Incorruptible". The greatest surprise might be Gene Adam, ICED EARTH's original singer who sang on the band's self-titled debut album from 1990, who delivers his best vocal performance ever.
The official lyric video for the song "In Your Dreams", taken from the "Purgatory" EP, can be seen below.
"Purgatory" is dedicated to Richard Bateman, the band's original bass player, who passed away right before the EP went into production.
The "Purgatory" EP can be pre-ordered here.
b>"Purgatory" track listing:
01. In Your Dreams (4:55)
02. Dracula (6:08)
03. In Jason's Mind (5:03)
04. Jack (4:00)
05. Burning Oasis (5:38)
Jon Schaffer's PURGATORY is:
Jon Schaffer - Rhythm And Lead Guitars, Vocals
Gene Adam - Lead Vocals
Bill Owen - Lead Guitar
Guest appearances by:
Jim Morris - Lead Guitar
Ruben Drake - Bass Guitar
Mark Prator - Drums
In a recent interview with Rockpages, Schaffer defended the prospect of re-recording ICED EARTH's early albums, saying: "It's a lot of work to do. It would be completely different than [the previous re-release of] 'Days Of Purgatory', because the only thing that was was re-recorded vocals. This, we're talking about a ground-up production so that we have it for a set of masters that we actually own and can exploit in our way in the future, and that this band will be able to benefit from financially going forward, because our contracts were terrible back in the old days, so there's very little income from all the years of work. Plus, with my knowledge of production now compared to the very beginning, we can make those records sound amazing. I'm certain of that. But it's not to try to beat them — it's just to create something that we can actually control and have some financial benefit from, instead of a big corporation like Sony. People go, 'Well, you should just focus on new music.' We will do that too. I have my own studio, and we're not in a hurry to do a new record — we just put one out — so if we can take a year and just take the time to spend time in the studio doing re-records, and then work on a new album, and then do more re-records or whatever, we can do whatever the fuck we want. I don't really care if somebody lost their virginity listening to 'I'd Die For You'. It's my fucking song; I'll re-record if it I want to re-record it. That's the way it is." 2

ATREYU-Branded Beer Has ArrivedOrange County, California rockers ATREYU have teamed up local brewery Noble Ale Works to create "Atreyu Superhero DIPA With Orange Zest".
Led by Citra and El Dorado, this hazy DIPA gives soft notes of lychee, tropical fruit, and butterfly kisses, while bright California navel oranges keep the party going.
On December 16, at noon EST, there will be a special can release party at Noble Ale Works Brewery.
Fans will have the chance to sample the "Atreyu Superhero DIPA With Orange Zest" and hang out with the band in person.
our packs of the beer will be available for sale. You won't want to miss this limited release. Cans will be exclusively available for sale at Noble Ale Works tasting room, located at 1621 S. Sinclair St in Anaheim, California.
ATREYU's seventh full-length album, "In Our Wake", was released on October 12 through Spinefarm.
Following a hiatus post-"Congregation Of The Damned" in 2009, Alex Varkatzas (vocals), Brandon Saller (drums, vocals), "Big" Dan Jacobs (guitar), Travis Miguel (guitar) and Porter McKnight (bass) returned firing on all cylinders with "Long Live" during 2015. It crashed the Top 30 of the Billboard Top 200 and earned widespread acclaim. Along the way, the boys sold out countless headline shows in addition to sharing the stage with everyone from SLIPKNOT and LINKIN PARK to Chris Cornell and AVENGED SEVENFOLD.
The band recorded in two chunks bookended by Brandon's touring obligations for HELL OR HIGHWATER. Working out of Feldmann's Los Angeles studio, they embraced this new approach as the producer still made them"wonderfully uncomfortable and willing to push harder," according to Alex. 2

SEPULTURA-Branded Red And White Wine To Be Launched This MonthGroove, power and fire — these are all qualities that Brazilian/American thrash metal veterans SEPULTURA have been adding to their music since they first started out. Gourmets already know that these are elements that a good wine needs as well. As pioneers of the scene, the members of SEPULTURA have been active for over three decades, but now they're also putting their skills and knowledge into two great wines. Together with MusiConsult, the business management of the band, Portuguese wine producers Roquevale and Dutch importers Drankgigant, they have created a full-bodied, powerful red wine and a pleasant and playful white wine, which are going to dance on the tongues of every wine enthusiast. But whoever thinks that this is just another gimmick by a legend... they couldn't be more wrong!
SEPULTURA not only emphasises quality in its music and the finer details, but has also ensured the best grapes for their wine. They've been aged in the Region Alentejo, a Portuguese vineyard that is well-known for its hot temperatures and low settlement. Also, in terms of production, they don't do things by half — handcraft is the key. The wine isn't only an eye-catcher, but also a must-taste and completely unique. And of course, only organic ingredients have been used and no chemicals!
The first very first gourmets had the chance to experience the wines at Rock In Rio Lisbon as both were available for a debut tasting. Now you will also have the chance to do so: on December 20, an official release party will take place at Amsterdam's BR20, the bar of SEPULTURA bassist Paulo Xisto Pinto Jr.
SEPULTURA is continuing to tour in support of its latest album, "Machine Messiah", which was released in January 2017 via Nuclear Blast. 2

NIGHTRAGE: 'By Darkness Drawn' VideoGreek/Swedish extreme metal stalwarts NIGHTRAGE have released the official music video for their new single, "By Darkness Drawn". The song is taken from the band's upcoming album, "Wolf To Man", which will arrive on March 29, 2019 via Despotz Records.
Says the band: "With 'By Darkness Drawn', we wanted to combine our trademark NIGHTRAGE guitar melodies with a straightforward thrash metal drive clashing straight into groovy-yet-hooking chorus. A straightforward NIGHTRAGE song, so to say. And that is what we think 'By Darkness Drawn' is! A kick-ass thrasher!
"The lyrics for this song pretty much sum up the concept and theme of the album and it handles the fact we are all doomed and we know it. Unable to learn from our mistakes, we are all now standing at the edge of our abyss, paralyzed by fear of our inevitable leap towards our own extinction.
"The lyrics on the previous album was all about our journey towards our end. This song is about being there right now, and just having to accept that as a fact."
b>NIGHTRAGE's latest, seventh album, "The Venomous", was released in March 2017 via Despotz Records.
NIGHTRAGE is:
Marios Iliopoulos - Guitar
Ronnie Nyman - Vocals
Magnus Söderman - Guitar
Dino George Stamoglou - Drums
Francisco Escalona - Bass 1

Video Premiere: LEGION OF THE DAMNED's 'Slaves Of The Southern Cross'The official video for "Slaves Of The Southern Cross", a new song from the Dutch thrash/death/black metal outfit LEGION OF THE DAMNED, can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's upcoming comeback album, "Slaves Of The Shadow Realm", which will be released on January 4, 2019 via Napalm Records. The follow-up to 2014's "Ravenous Plague" was produced by Andy Classen and merges the unadulterated fury of the early LEGION OF THE DAMNED years with the sophistication of a veteran band.
Vocalist Maurice Swinkels comments on the track: "Next to 'Dark Coronation', 'Palace Of Sin' and 'Warhounds Of Hades', this is one of my favorite tracks on the album. 'Slaves Of The Southern Cross' is heavy as hell and sometimes reminds me of INFERNAL MAJESTY. It has a great atmosphere and I cannot wait for the fans to sheer with me 'Slaves Of The Southern Cross'. For the video, we rented the big hall of the Turbinenhalle in Oberhausen and kept it relative 'simple'. Spend the entire day in fire blasters and filmed the band that captures the essence of LEGION OF THE DAMNED: aggressive and heavy!"
"Slaves Of The Shadow Realm" track listing:
01. The Widow's Breed
02. Nocturnal Commando
03. Charnel Confession
04. Slaves Of The Southern Cross
05. Warhounds Of Hades
06. Black Banners In Flames
07. Shadow Realm Of The Demonic Mind
08. Palace Of Sin
09. Priest Hunt
10. Azazels Crown
11. Dark Coronation
b>Swinkels says: "With our seventh opus, entitled 'Slaves Of The Shadow Realm', we tried to take it a little further as where 'Ravenous Plague' ended in terms of melody, but we definitely maintain the heavy songwriting and rawness that LEGION OF THE DAMNED is known for.
"Simplicity is the key with LEGION OF THE DAMNED and less is more. With 'Slaves Of The Shadow Realm', we go full speed ahead with heaviness, but we took it a bit farther by bringing in melody and atmosphere.
"I think this is LEGION's best album to date: It crushes, it is fast, it has atmosphere and it is raw! In terms of lyrics, this is our darkest album, written by Tony 'Skullcrusher' Manero, who was also responsible for the lyrics and concepts of the albums 'Malevolent Rapture', 'Cult Of The Dead', 'Feel The Blade', 'Ravenous Plague', 'Sons Of The Jackal' and 'Descent into Chaos'.
"We are really excited to be back after four years and hope that the true LEGION fan digs this album — I am 100% certain that they will love it!
"This is LEGION OF THE DAMNED — without the bells and whistles. The wait is over and we are back!"
LEGION OF THE DAMNED is:
Maurice Swinkels: Vocals
Twan van Geel: Guitar
Harold Gielen: Bass
Erik Fleuren: Drums

GHOST SHIP OCTAVIUS Feat. Former NEVERMORE, GOD FORBID Members: 'Edge Of Time' Video"Edge Of Time", the new video from GHOST SHIP OCTAVIUS, the U.S. progressive metal sensation featuring former NEVERMORE and GOD FORBID members, can be seen below. The song is taken from GHOST SHIP OCTAVIUS's sophomore LP, titled "Delirium", which will be released on February 22, 2019 via Mighty Music.
Formed in 2012 by guitarist Matthew Wicklund (GOD FORBID, HIMSA), drummer Van Williams (NEVERMORE) and vocalist/guitarist Adōn Fanion, GHOST SHIP OCTAVIUS began writing what would become their critically acclaimed 2015 self-titled debut release. With foundations in progressive metal, GHOST SHIP OCTAVIUS is forging a fresh pathway in the metal genre by exploring emotional and melodic writing firmly founded in technical playing and memorable hooks with a common theme of darkness, hope and ghostly imagery with chilling, arctic elements throughout. "Delirium" sees GHOST SHIP OCTAVIUS raising the bar in both technical ability and emotional depth and color and marks the beginning of a new record label partnership with Mighty Music.
"We are beyond pleased to announce joining forces with Mighty Music, bringing forth a new and exciting chapter for GSO worldwide," said GHOST SHIP OCTAVIUS.
Added Michael H. Andersen, Mighty Music CEO: "GHOST SHIP OCTAVIUS is one of the most promising and professional artists I ever signed to Mighty Music. Their 'Delerium' album is a 10/10 in my personal fanzine."

Video Premiere: MALEVOLENT CREATION's 'Decimated'The Guilherme Henriques-created video for "Decimated", a brand new song from Florida death metal veterans MALEVOLENT CREATION, can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's upcoming album, "The 13th Beast", which will be released on January 18, 2019 via Century Media.
"The 13th Beast" introduces a new lineup consisting of Phil Cincilla (drums), Josh Gibbs (bass), Phil Fasciana (guitar) and vocalist/guitarist Lee Wollenschlaeger (THRONE OF NAILS, IMPERIAL EMPIRE).
Wollenschlaeger states: "'Decimated' encapsulates the feeling of 'The 13th Beast' in the best way possible: fast, aggressive and relentless. We hope everyone enjoys it as much as we do. See you on the road soon!"
"No one can destroy this MALEVOLENT CREATION" is a legendary line by the late, great Bret Hoffmann, who passed away on July 7, 2018. Renowned and revered for his vicious vocal style and unique onstage presence, Hoffmann is impossible to replace, but co-founder Phil Fasciana decided to face the challenge and affirm the truth behind this lyric from the group's 1991 debut "The Ten Commandments".
This is the biggest honor I could ever be given," says Lee. "The opportunity to front one of my all-time favorite bands, and an even bigger pleasure of jamming with such great people.
"We have created one of the most relentless albums of MALEVOLENT CREATION's history. As a fan, I know we are going to shock a lot of people at how intense this new album is. Done in a way only MALEVOLENT CREATION can.
"I can't wait to see all you guys on the road in 2019 and beyond, playing songs from all the albums, including our new album, 'The 13th Beast'!"
"Lee was the missing link when I was searching for a new vocalist and guitarist," adds Fasciana. "Each new member is a solid musician and songwriter sharing the same passion for extreme music MALEVOLENT CREATION has been striving for since 1987.
"I'm very proud of this album and look forward to present it live as well as songs from our massive back catalog, including stuff that hasn't been played live in a long time or ever."
Musically, "The 13th Beast" expands upon 2014's "Dead Man's Path" yet also incorporates a brutality known from albums such as "The Will To Kill" and "Eternal", which is further accentuated by Wollenschlaeger's understandable-yet-deeper vocal tone and songwriting contributions. Just like "Dead Man's Path", the record offers artwork by German Latorres, and was mixed and mastered by Dan Swanö at Unisound.
"The 13th Beast" will be released as black and limited colored LP plus four-page LP booklet, CD, and digital album.
Track listing:
01. End The Torture
02. Mandatory Butchery
03. Agony For The Chosen
04. Canvas Of Flesh
05. Born Of Pain
06. The Beast Awakened

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH Releases Music Video For Cover Version Of KENNY WAYNE SHEPHERD BAND's 'Blue On Black'FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH has released an official music video for its cover of "Blue On Black", a blues rock song originally recorded by the KENNY WAYNE SHEPHERD BAND in 1998. The clip was was directed by Dale "Rage" Resteghini from a treatment written by FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH guitarist Zoltan Bathory.
Asked how FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH goes about choosing which songs to cover, Zoltan told "Whiplash", the KLOS radio show hosted by Full Metal Jackie: "First and foremost, it has to be fun. Everything you cover has to be something that is fun to redo, fun to interpret in your own style, your own voice. And that, actually, is not that easy, because everybody has to agree, so the whole band has to agree that we actually like that song.
"Ivan [Moody, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH singer] is a very emotional kind of guy who re-lives all his lyrics when he's singing, so if he's lyrically not connected to a song, he's not gonna sing it — he just simply won't," Zoltan continued. "So it has to make sense to him. If all those criteria are there, then it's a go. "
As for FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH's decision to tackle "Blue On Black", Zoltan said: "In this particular case, actually, the [other] guys [in the band] wanted to do this song. I was the one who was, like, 'Ahhh… I don't hear this song. It has a blues-ish, southern vibe to it, and I can't really imagine that DEATH PUNCH could remake this song.' And then we did it — we made the song in the studio, we recorded it — and when Ivan was recording the vocals, it started to really come together when I was, like, 'Wow!' And in retrospect, I'm glad we did it, because it completely fits the record — it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. We made it our own, and I think it sounds amazing.
As I said, I just didn't see this one — I just didn't see that this would work — and it came out great, in my opinion," he added. "And it's another flavor that we've never really done before. So I think it actually adds to the album another dimension, another kind of flavor that we wouldn't have otherwise."
"And Justice For None" debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart back in May. The set launched with 71,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending May 24, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 60,000 were in traditional album sales.
FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH previously landed in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart with "Got Your Six" (No. 2, 2015), "The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell: Volume 2" (No. 2, 2013), "The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell: Volume 1" (No. 2, 2013), "American Capitalist" (No. 3, 2011) and "War Is the Answer" (No. 7, 2009). According to Billboard, the group's only studio album to miss the top 10 was its debut effort, "The Way Of The Fist", which topped out at No. 107 in 2008. 1

IN FLAMES To Release 'I, The Mask' Album In March; Listen To New Songs '(This Is Our) House' And 'I Am Above'Swedish metallers IN FLAMES have released two new songs, "(This Is Our) House" and "I Am Above". The tracks are taken from the band's upcoming album, "I, The Mask", which will be released on March 1, 2019 through Eleven Seven Music.
IN FLAMES recruited American drummer Tanner Wayne, best known for his work with UNDERMINDED, SCARY KIDS SCARING KIDS and CHIODOS, to sit behind the kit for the band for its 2018 live appearances.
Wayne stepped into IN FLAMES following the apparent recent departure of Joe Rickard, who played on the band's 2016 studio album, "Battles".
Tanner made his live debut with IN FLAMES in July in Brno, Czech Republic.
ongtime IN FLAMES drummer Daniel Svensson announced in 2015 that he was leaving the band to focus on his family life.
IN FLAMES' current lineup features American bassist Bryce Paul, who has been playing most of the shows with the group since longtime bassist Peter Iwers's November 2016 exit.
In a recent interview with Mexico's Etic's Live, IN FLAMES vocalist Anders Fridén stated about the band's current plans: "We released an album called 'Battles' and that was released two years ago, I think. We are working on something, and people who know what we sound like today will definitely recognize it, but there are elements there that will feel a little bit new here and there. With IN FLAMES, we don't want to change it too much, but we want to change a little from album to album. It's still important for us to have the melody, that's the first thing. We grew up on melody and melody is everything for us. Then you can do a lot of things, of course. It's very melodic and heavy at the same time."
Regarding IN FLAMES' knack for integrating different styles into the band's music, Anders said: "I see it as a natural evolution. You can only do so many riffs on the guitar. It's all about notes in a different order and a lot of things has been done, but you're taking influences from here and there and you mix it up and make it your own. That's how the music develops. I really think that we all fit within this. Then, it's obviously up to the audience if they're open-minded enough. Can you mix classic with more than the heavier, can you do this and that? In my opinion, good music is good music. You can do that. I like bands that try to take something and move it forward and mix and match from different outlets. That's progress. In my world, there are no different genres, just good music and bad music." 26

sked why PAPA ROACH decided to work on new music so soon after the release of 2017's "Crooked Teeth", guitarist Jerry Horton told the Milwaukee radio station 102.9 The Hog: "Normally, we give it a couple of years to two and a half years, just because the touring cycles usually take a pretty long time. And then six months we'll do [in the studio] for the record. This time it was, like, a year on tour and maybe three months [in the studio]. We got in with the same guys [producers Nicholas 'RAS' Furlong and Colin Brittain] that we did 'Crooked Teeth' with, and we have this flow together, and it just went really quick."
He continued: "We've been doing this for so long that we kind of know if we get to a certain point with a song that it's not happening naturally, then we just kind of set it aside and move on to something else and then maybe come back to it later. But we don't try and sit there and force it for days on end like we used to."
According to Jerry, the new PAPA ROACH album will include some material that was left on the cutting-room floor during the "Crooked Teeth" sessions. "Yeah, there's a couple of songs that didn't make it on the last record, mostly because they didn't get finished," he explained. "We took a fresh ear to a couple of the jams and came out with songs. Some bands would look at some of these things and say, 'Oh, well, it didn't happen right away. It must not be good.' Sometimes it just takes a little time for it to kind of click in our heads. But we don't necessarily throw anything away — we're kind of hoarders that way. You never know — something could be sitting in there that's great; we just weren't in that headspace at the time."
Horton previously told Morgan Richards Interviews that PAPA ROACH's new material sees him and his bandmates "really trying to explore more dynamics and not just be a wall of guitars all the time."
Frontman Jacoby Shaddix described the musical direction of the new PAPA ROACH songs to the Lazer 103.3 radio station as "a pretty bold evolution," saying that the tracks that have been laid down so far are "so inspiring and just unique and different and rocking and anthemic and passionate."
PAPA ROACH has announced a special run of five shows in its home state of California to celebrate the "Who Do You Trust?" release. The group will close out this run with three very special shows at the landmark West Hollywood venue The Roxy, presented by SiriusXM.
PAPA ROACH will join SHINEDOWN and ASKING ALEXANDRIA on the 2019 North American leg of the "Attention! Attention!" world tour. 2

A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH Feat. Ex-TYPE O NEGATIVE, LIFE OF AGONY Members: Listen To 'Vultures' Song"Vultures", a new song from A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH, can be streamed below. The track is taken from the band's upcoming album, titled "When The World Becomes Undone", which will be released on January 18, 2019 via Long Branch Records/SPV.
Led by founding TYPE O NEGATIVE and LIFE OF AGONY member Sal Abruscato, A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH released its debut, "And Hell Will Follow Me", in 2011 and firmly implanted its roots in the metal scene with the sophomore album, "Lay My Soul To Waste", in 2013. Both records were selected as part of Revolver magazine "Top 20 Albums Of The Year" lists in the years they were issued.
Besides Abruscato on guitars and lead vocals, A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH's lineup includes Joe Taylor and Eddie Heedles on guitars and Eric Morgan on bass. Johnny Kelly (TYPE O NEGATIVE) is also back in the band on drums.
"When The World Becomes Undone" will be made available via SPV's Long Branch Records imprint. The first single, "Love The Ones You Hate", will be released on November 16.
It's our signature combination of seemingly depressing and dark musical tones with unexpectedly pretty melodies," says Abruscato. "There's a hypnotic phenomenon that happens when you take super heavy riffs and add a harmonic sensibility. It allows you to drift off and zone out."
"When The World Becomes Undone" was mastered by Maor Appelbaum (FAITH NO MORE, MEAT LOAF, YES, SEPULTURA, HALFORD) at Maor Appelbaum Mastering while the artwork was once again created by Sam Shearon (ROB ZOMBIE, FEAR FACTORY, CRADLE OF FILTH).
"When The World Becomes Undone" track listing:
01. As It Begins
02. When The World Becomes Undone
03. Love The Ones You Hate
04. Fell In My Hole
05. Succumbing To The Event Horizon
06. Vultures
07. End Of Days
08. The Woods
09. We All Break Down
10. Lay With The Wicked
11. Splinters
12. Dreams Of The End
13. Closure
"The phrase 'When The World Becomes Undone' came to me in 2014," Abruscato explains. "You could see what was beginning to happen in the world at large. Just turn on the news or look around. At the same time, there were a lot of crazy things happening in my personal life. Those struggles all became fuel for the music. It was like I had this partial sketch a while ago, and we finally filled it out this year. It evolved into what we have here."
"When The World Becomes Undone" is available for pre-order here.
A five-year gap preceded "When The World Becomes Undone" as Sal rejoined LIFE OF AGONY, which he co-founded, for a triumphant comeback tour and contributed musical arrangements to the 2017 album "A Place Where There's No More Pain".

Video Premiere: BREAKING BENJAMIN's 'Tourniquet'BREAKING BENJAMIN has released an official music video for the song "Tourniquet". The clip completes the visual trilogy of videos released to date from the band's sixth studio album, "Ember". "Ember" debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart and has spawned off two No. 1 rock radio hits with recent singles "Red Cold River" and "Torn In Two", marking the band's eighth and ninth No. 1 singles to date.
In a recent interview with the Rock 100.5 The KATT radio station, BREAKING BENJAMIN frontman Benjamin Burnley said that "Ember" could very well be the group's heaviest release so far. "There's things that we have on all BREAKING BENJAMIN albums that are heavy, and I think we just a little bit more of that side of it on this album," he explained. "And there's really light things too — there's a song called 'The Dark Of You' that's really, really mellow and chill. But I think that it's just whatever the song calls for."
He continued: "These guys that I have [in the band] now, when I did 'Dark Before Dawn' [2015], which is the last album, I had that about 95 percent written when I got them onboard; I wrote that mostly on my hiatus — when I took that hiatus. And so when they came into the band, it was kind of already done. There was a few things that they contributed on, but for the most part, it was done. And 'Ember' is the first album that they were there from the very start — when there was no material — so they all contributed a lot more to it. There were songs that I don't even know how to play, 'cause I didn't write the music; I just wrote the vocals and the lyrics, and they helped with the lyrics too, and some of the melodies and all that. So I was really able to kind of just take a step back — gladfully, because I had done most of the work, if not all of the work, on all of the BREAKING BENJAMIN albums before. And I'm ready — I always was; I just didn't really have anybody that I was playing with that was like-minded writers."
Benjamin added: "I mean, I've always played with some really, really amazing musicians, but a musician and a writer are two totally different things, and we just didn't really mesh too well. These guys will send me an entire song that's done, with no vocals — and sometimes with vocals — but the whole thing is done, from the start to the finish, and all I have to do is either put my own lyrics or vocals on it, or whatever. And it's really awesome to just have that; I've never had that before — I've never heard a whole song. I've only heard, like, 'Here's this riff.' And all I would do is, I would have a song already, and the riff would be in the same… it would fit in there, if I just took mine out and put that in there, so that's what I used to do. I don't really consider that writing together; I just consider it taking a piece out and putting another piece in. So this time around, I think it's a little heavier, because that's where that music that they came up with sort of took me."
b>"Ember" was released in April via Hollywood Records.
Joining Burnley on the effort are guitarist Jasen Rauch (formerly of RED), guitarist/vocalist Keith Wallen (formerly of ADELITAS WAY), bassist/vocalist Aaron Bruch and drummer Shaun Foist.
BREAKING BENJAMIN will kick off 2019 with a North American headline arena tour next spring, starting on March 15 in Saginaw, Michigan. The tour will include support from SKILLET, ASKING ALEXANDRIA, UNDEROATH, FIGHT THE FURY and DIAMANTE on select dates. 2
