FALSE MEMORIES Release "Voices" One Take Vocal Performance Video

FALSE MEMORIES Release "Voices" One Take Vocal Performance Video

Frontiers Music Srl will release the label debut from Italy's False Memories, entitled The Last Night Of Fall, on May 7. The band traffics in a gothic, doom metal style with elements of prog and joins the label's expanding, diverse roster of metal bands. Pe-order/save The Last Night Of Fall here, and watch a one take vocal performance of the song "Voices", below:

False Memories signed to Frontiers via the label's new A&R initiative, Frontiers & Beyond. The band is one of four bands, out of countless submissions, that were signed via the F&B portal.

"We like to insert prog elements into a "dark/goth" context, while keeping the songwriting in the surroundings of more traditional structures. The album we have always wanted to make is here thanks to a line-up that has achieved a great balance. We have always been inspired by science and psychology. This time, we wrote The Last Night Of Fall thinking of translating the human soul into music in all its emotions, disturbances, and sensations. The listener can take an intense journey towards their own conscience, a journey full of strong and sometimes conflicting emotions, but which together coexist in the 11 tracks," says frontwoman Rossella Moscatello.

Shortly after being signed, Rossella said about the album, "We worked hard on the production of this record and it has been very exciting to get positive feedback from people who have heard it. Fate has decided that we had to work with an Italian record company, Frontiers! It is an immense honor for us to join the roster of a label of this prestige and it is a source of great pride to have been chosen. 11 tracks of intense gothic/doom metal! Get ready and see you on the road, hopefully soon!”

False Memories was originally formed in 2015 by guitarist Francesco Savino and soon started working on original material. In 2016, the band released a self-titled EP which included four original tracks and one cover. As time progressed, the band’s soundscapes got more mature and headed towards a more goth rock/metal sound. Invigorated by their new sound, the band started to work on its first full-length release, Chimerical. Originally released independently in January 2018, the album featured eight previously unreleased tracks and three of the original songs from the debut EP, for a total of 11 original songs.

In October 2018, singer Rossella Moscatello joined the band and the band eventually released a new edition of the Chimerical album, including three bonus tracks sung by Rossella.

For this new album, The Last Night Of Fall, the composers are both Francesco Savino and Rossella Moscatello, with a lineup featuring new drummer Emanuele Cossu, second guitarist Moreno Palmisano, and bassist Gianluca Zaffino.

VREID's Wild North West Movie Streaming In Full

VREID's Wild North West Movie Streaming In Full

Sognametal veterans, Vreid, have premiered their new film, Wild North West. You can watch the complete movie for free below. If fans are feeling genrous, donations to the band are welcome via PayPal.

The band recently announced that they have been inducted into Norway's National Museum Of Popular Music Rockheim. The band is featured as a part of Rockheim's Millennium exhibition and are also included in Norwegian music history.

Vreid recently announced their exciting and unique partnership with the Sogndal Football Club. The club has for many years been known for developing and cultivating extraordinary talent, as the men's team currently plays in first division, the second tier of the Norwegian football league system.

Now, Sogndal Football Club is paying tribute to the band that has brought Sognametal to the whole world, by putting the logo of metal veterans and forefathers Vreid on the chest of player’s uniforms for this upcoming season.

The concept of a football club choosing to use the space to pay tribute to local heroes is very unusual, breaking typical partnership traditions, but Sogndal is no ordinary club. The collaboration oozes local patriotism as it champions two of the region’s prime exports – football and metal. In addition, head coach and former professional player Eirik Bakke (Leeds United) has himself played football with members of Vreid, bringing this collaboration full circle.

“Having our logo on the chest on Sogndal football's kit is an honor that is very rare,” Vreid bassist Jarle 'Hvall' Kvåle pridefully exclaims. “This football club has been hammered into our hearts since growing up. This is the club that was our whole childhood and youth, and it is with favorite teams as with favorite bands, it is love for life.”

“That Sogndal Football incorporates Vreid in its value in such a way shows the will, madness, fearlessness and pride that has built this club. Since the 1970s, these pioneers with enormous courage have built a national top club in this beautiful mountain village, and it is wonderful to see that the club is characterized by tenants, staff, players, partners and the public with a passion for the team and their hometown. The eternal underdog who constantly does the unnatural. We are extremely proud to be part of the journey of our childhood friend and Sogndal's legend Eirik. Stao no pao!”

Proud head coach and former Leeds United player Eirik Bakke adds: "Incredible fun that my childhood friends Jarle, Einar and Jørn together with the rest of the gang in Vreid will be presented on our uniform. What they have achieved with their band is just absolutely fantastic. I myself have been out in the big world and played football in front of tens of thousands of supporters, and that they now do the same with their music makes us Sogndøler proud. This year we will go all the way with Vreid on the team. Stao no Pao.”

Wild North West is a concept album that developed alongside an entire movie. Inspired by both true events and pure imagination, the listener is taken on a whirlwind of a journey, diving deep into themes of war, fear, betrayal, loss, anxiety, and madness with thought-provoking lyrics that embody human nature. It captures the Nordic heart at the core of their sound, taking cues from Norway’s rugged landscape as it ricochets between eternal darkness and the solace of bracing light.

The cover for Wild North West was created by Remi Juliebø (Deformat Design).

PESTILENCE Share Drum Playthrough Video For New Track "Morbvs Propagationem"

PESTILENCE Share Drum Playthrough Video For New Track "Morbvs Propagationem"

Dutch death metal legends, Pestilence, have released a drum playthrough video for their recently released single, "Morbvs Propagationem". It's the first song taken off the band's new album, Exitivm, which is set to be released on June 25 via Agonia Records. Watch below:

A new album, on a new label armed with a whole new lineup and a new dynamic: no matter what, Pestilence - or more specifically their maestro Patrizio Mameli - is like the phoenix, rising from the ashes, over and over again. An official website has been launched for Exitivm, providing access to all relevant information surrounding the new album, here.

Back in 1986, in the small town of Enschede in the Netherlands, nearby the German border, a true metal phenomenon was born. More than three decades later, not only is Pestilence alive and well, but about to once again reaffirm their place in the extreme metal pantheon, with their ninth studio album entitled Exitivm, which is Latin for "total destruction".

As controversial as he can be to some, nobody will ever deny the band’s undisputable driving force, Patrizio Mameli, and his constant ability to reinvent himself. Unlike most of the bands in the scene, Pestilence just keeps evolving. From the raging thrash leanings of their cult 1988 debut Malleus Maleficarum to the jazz-infused versatility of 1993’s Spheres or 2009’s Resurrection Macabre frontal assault, not to mention the fans’ favorite and Scott Burns-produced Testimony Of The Ancients from 1991, he never did the same record twice. No matter who playes with him on any Pestilence album, Mameli always gets the best out of the musicians he is working with. But first and foremost, the man has a one-of-a-kind vision, instantly recognizable style and yet always stretching musical boundaries. And it’s never more true than on Exitivm.

After a vast reissue campaign in between 2015 and 2018 and an acclaimed new album Hadeon, the band got seemingly stopped in their mission to conquer the death metal scene in early 2020, like everybody else, by the global pandemic, going as far as forcing some of the band’s Hadeon line-up members to drop the towel. But what doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger and instead of letting that whole situation drag him down, Mameli chose to do the exact opposite and write the best and darkest album possible to date. And he just did that. With its ambitious lyrical concept about "global domination", "induced mental illness", "inner and outer demons" and  malicious external entities, Exitivm is propelling the band one again to the forefront of the death metal movement with yet another original and brilliant artistic overhaul.

Mind you, as soon as you’re past the very cinematic introduction "In Omnibvs", you’re instantly caught up by "Morbvs Propagationem" whose intense riffing will take back to the Testimony days. Except that their core sound has been revived, with now extra layers of ominous soundscapes ingeniously suggesting an atmosphere of suspence and horror, boosted by Mameli’s jazz-fusion impressive solo works and a renewed sense of urgency. This rejuvenation, with emphasis on "new musical landscapes but also sick and twisted riffs" as stated by Mameli himself, is no accident though. Not only has Mameli been extremely inspired by the turmoil humanity had to face since March 2020 but with a line-up once again, entirely based in the Netherlands and made up of only super-seasoned players – besides former Dew Scented and Creepmime Joost van der Graaf on bass and Bleeding Gods’ Rutger van Noordenburg on lead guitar, former God Dethroned Michiel van der Plicht joined on drums last year – Pestilence is more than ever a BAND where everybody feeds off of each other's musical talent. And it definitely shows.

With the exception of the drums - tracked down by van der Plicht himself at his home studio - the album was recorded over a period of two months in between June and August 2020 at Pitchnote Productions. The album has been produced, like all Pestilence albums, by Mameli and is co produced, recorded, mixed and mastered by Jory Hogeveen (Shinigami and Ancient Rites). Last March, the band filmed their second ever official video – three decades after Land Of Tears – for the song "Morbvs Propagationem". Exitivm will be available in various formats, including supra-limited picture, pin-wheel, "firebreath" and clear vinyl versions. The cover artwork once again brought the band’s iconic sphere and was done by Michal "Xaay" Loranc, known for his various cover for Nile, God Detheroned or Evocation and who had already worked on "Hadeon".

Both a reinvention and a confirmation of everything the band has been standing for since 1986, thirty-five years later Pestilence are more than ever breaking new grounds and exploring the further outposts of the extreme metal sound on Exitivm.

VULTURE Debut Music Video For "Star-Crossed City"

VULTURE Debut Music Video For "Star-Crossed City"

On May 21, Vulture will release their new album, Dealin' Death, via Metal Blade Records. For a preview of the record, a video for the new single, "Star-Crossed City" (filmed by Vulture in April 2020, edited by Adrian Guzce), can be viewed below:

When it comes to contemporary thrash, there are few bands that can stand toe-to-toe with Germany's Vulture. Establishing their status with 2016's Victim To The Blade EP and 2017's The Guillotine, then cementing their reputation with 2019's Ghastly Waves And Battered Graves, they now return with the mighty Dealin' Death, one of the most ruthless records the genre has seen.

"Take all our key elements - fierce riffing, halftone-shifts, aggressive vocals, huge toms, changing dynamics, horror-synths and classical twin guitar harmonies and cast it in a mould, then you have 'Dealin' Death'," says guitarist Stefan Castevet. "The result sounds a little 'back to the EP-ish' to my ears, yet it contains new approaches that we've never included in our sound so far, like choirs with harmonies."

When it was time for the band to head into the studio, the recording process was handled by two separate collaborators: the album recorded at Monkey Moon Studios in Dortmund by Alexander Stöcker, the guitarist of Stallion, while the production was once more handled by Marco Brinkmann at Hellforge Studio.

"This cooperation turned out great!" enthuses vocalist Leo Steeler. "Alex's way of recording and the whole studio atmosphere was pretty motivating and inspiring for all of us. Marco, on the other hand, knows exactly how we should sound and already became literally the sixth member of the band."

Working twelve-hour days for ten days straight was pretty grueling, their daily schedule "get up, track, sleep", but the effort paid off. "I think 'Dealin' Death' is the best we've ever sounded. The mix itself is absolutely flawless to my ears," says Castevet. "It's way more direct and less reverb-soaked than its predecessor. It was very important for us this time, to take advice from Marco and make all key elements audible for the listener. The vocals sound piercing, the bass is present, delivering warmth throughout the whole mix, and the guitars have the best sound we've ever had, and the same goes for drums. It's very natural and dynamic, but straight to the point."

And now with everything done, the band are eager to get it out there. "We can't wait to get feedback for it, hopefully people will admire it as much as we do! Once the pandemic is over, we also can't wait to play shows and even tour again."

Dealin' Death can be pre-ordered here in the following formats:

- jewelcase-CD

Quebec's GOTTWEIST Release "Road To Neverland" Music Video; Prophecy EP Available In May

Quebec's GOTTWEIST Release "Road To Neverland" Music Video; Prophecy EP Available In May

Gottweist will release their new EP, entitled Prophecy, on May 7th via Collective Wave Records. Hailing from Valleyfield, Quebec, the four-piece heavy metal band just released their new single, "Road To Neverland", following the success of their last release, "Weight Of The World".

"Road To Neverland" is available now on all platforms. Driven by guitar-heavy soundscapes, "Road To Neverland" embodies a fiery performance, melodic riffs and growling vocals.

2021 is the year of return for Gottweist, who released their debut album Future Is In Our Hands back in 2015. Their dynamic new music is the result of a few years of hunkering down and writing new material, taking inspiration from metalcore bands such as Bullet For My Valentine and Killswitch Engage, to rock bands like Alice In Chains. When it comes to influences though, Gottweist have no limit. Refusing to be constrained to one genre, they find inspiration in multiple and diverse styles, and in doing so make their sound distinctive and memorable, something that promotes only their versatility and open-mindedness.

Accompanying the track is the lively official video, a visual representation of their sound. All four members feature in the video, a powerful performance that really showcases their stage presence. Lavigne captures the essence of the track through sombre lyrics and gritty vocals, aligning the animated drum fills of Kevin Lacoste and a high-intensity guitar solo that cascades over dark rhythm guitars. The backing vocals of guitarist Alex Soucy and bassist Alexandre Myre only add to the melodic hooks, setting the mood under atmospheric flashing lights. This is a taster of their real life stage presence, a craft they have perfected through their live gig experience over the years.

An important part of the metal scene, Gottweist can be found playing festival stages throughout Quebec, building their dedicated fanbase. With their 2015 debut album Future Is In Our Hands already under their belts, there is much anticipation for the release of their upcoming EP Prophecy, available May 7 via Collective Wave Records.

HARDLINE - Heart, Mind And Soul Album Out In July; "Fuel To The Fire" Music Video Available Now

HARDLINE - Heart, Mind And Soul Album Out In July; "Fuel To The Fire" Music Video Available Now

Hardline have announced the release of their new studio album, Heart, Mind And Soul, on July 9 via Frontiers Music Srl. Today, the band release the first single and video from the album, "Fuel To The Fire". Watch the clip below, and pre-order/save CD/Color LP/Digital here.

"This album is a true reflection of who we are and what we care about. I’m always amazed, despite what some critics may say, that we have the strength and power to push through the way we believe and want to. That will never change with this band. It’s a very, very special band chemistry we have here," says vocalist Johnny Gioeli.

Of the first single from the album, Gioeli says, "'Fuel To The Fire' was inspired by that one person who just knows how to push your buttons. You know who you are....the last word...always right. We have all had that person in our life at some point. This song takes a lyric twist as I add MY fuel to the fire. Enjoy....and use it as therapy the next time someone gets under your skin who doesn't deserve to be there."

Ever since the release of their widely heralded album Danger Zone in 2012, Hardline have been offering a straight-ahead, gritty, riff-based melodic hard rock sound which is a continuing evolution from what was on offer in the band's early days. What you get here on their new studio album is a group of musicians who are perfectly gelled as a unit and determined to display a sound that is immediate and powerful. Adding their own personality and imprint to the music, the band has created a perfect balance between these anthemic, hard rocking songs. You can expect hook after hook and riff after riff as you take a ride with Hardline via Heart, Mind And Soul.

Singer Johnny Gioeli, as usual, is in supreme form, providing a soaring vocal performance to stir up the listener. Complementing that, Mario Percudani’s guitar is on fire and the super tight rhythm section of Anna Portalupi and Marco Di Salvia is locked in. Alessandro Del Vecchio's immeasurable contribution on keyboards, background vocals, and production serve to tie the whole package together. He is, rightfully and deservedly, one of the “go to” guys in the melodic hard rock scene and this record shows, once again, why.

"Heart, Mind And Soul is an album you can’t turn off, in my biased opinion. After writing it, recording it, mixing, mastering, planning, deciding....on and on, you would think we’d get sick of it. Not even close. One of my most favorite Hardline albums to date without question," says Gioeli.

Hardline evolved from being an up-and-coming Sunset Strip sensation featuring brothers Johnny (vocals) and Joey (guitar) Gioeli to a supergroup of sorts, featuring former Bad English members Neal Schon and Deen Castronovo, before finally settling in and becoming a band showcasing the incredible talents of the fabulous singer Johnny Gioeli with the production and songwriting skills of Alessandro Del Vecchio (Revolution Saints, Jorn, etc.), the shredding talents of guitarist Mario Percudani, and the powerful rhythm section made up of bassist Anna Portalupi and drummer Marco Di Salvia. What truly makes Hardline special is how well their unique and different talents blend together to form a spectacular whole.

Heart, Mind And Soul is simply an album you can’t miss if you love melodic hard rock, but what else would you expect from a new Hardline album? They are, after all, masters of the genre.

The band plans to hit the road once touring resumes post-pandemic, so take the time to learn all of these future classics to sing along with Johnny soon enough!

"After we can finally say FU to Covid-19, Hardline is on the road with this album and we'll be in your face. You better pack a diaper, it could get messy when you hear this live," concludes Gioeli. Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for? (Audience) Why should they care? (Benefit) What do I want them to do here? (Call-to-Action) Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining!"

EXTREME COLD WINTER - Dutch Death / Doom Metal Veterans Sign With Hammerheart Records; World Exit Album Due In October

Hammerheart Records has announced the signing of Dutch death/doom metal veterans, Extreme Cold Winter. The debut full-length, World Exit, will be unleashed to the world in October on CD and LP. The first single is set for August.

Extreme Cold Weather features (ex-)members of former Hammerheart Records bands like Beyond Belief, Officium Triste and Severe Torture. They released their first EP Paradise Ends Here in 2015. Now they are back with a doom/death album that has the crushing power of a mammoth in rage. Lyrically and musically this breathes pure quality and it is unlikely that any band will match the unique sound of Extreme Cold Winter.

Updates to follow.

LORD OF THE LOST To Release Judas Album In July; "Priest" Music Video Streaming Now

LORD OF THE LOST To Release Judas Album In July; "Priest" Music Video Streaming Now

German genrefluid visionaries, Lord Of The Lost, prove that they have matured both musically and lyrically, and return with their seventh studio album, Judas, out July 2 via Napalm Records.

With this remarkable offering, the five-piece cement their position as exceptional artists that can’t be pigeonholed once more, which their brand new harbinger and single “Priest”, out today, is already proof of. The very first song immediately unveils a leitmotif that runs through the whole record and serves as a uniting symbiosis for the double album, divided in two conceptual parts, Damnation and Salvation, with 24 songs in total.

Along with a highly sophisticated official video, the song draws the listener into a conflict that has lasted for thousands of centuries and is as old as mankind itself: The conflict between good and evil. On Judas, Lord Of The Lost tell of this conflict from the perception of the character of Judas Iscariot, known as highly diverse, and the so-called Gospel of Judas, a paper that's said to consist of conversations between Jesus Christ and Judas Iscariot and casts a different light on religious history as it's told in the Bible's New Testament.

Lord Of The Lost on the new single and video: “With ‘Priest’, we dive deep into a visual world that is meant to convey the very core emotion of the upcoming album, Judas, to the viewer. This comes along with a story that leaves room for many means of interpretation while keeping the purpose of the album concept. The artist XELANAH shines as the protagonist here, symbolically representing the emotional tension of the figure of Judas Iscariot. That role will also appear and continue in further videos, just like you know it from, for example, AEROSMITH. The song itself manages to unite all the emotion and soundscape that makes up the album - a cinematic trailer for the ears. And even a deliberately placed GENESIS quote from the mouth of Judas himself is suddenly seen in a completely new light.”

Watch the official video for “Priest” , directed & edited by Matteo Vdiva Fabbiani & Chiara Cerami for VDPictures, below.

Part of the video for “Priest” was shot in the so-called Einhornhöhle (engl. unicorn cave) in Germany back in August 2020. Lord Of The Lost continue introducing their female protagonist and artwork model, a process that was already set free with the teaser video for “The Death Of All Colours”, and weaves the common thread of Judas visually as well. She represents the inner conflict of good and evil that can be interpreted in several ways.

Lord Of The Lost on Judas: “Don’t judge a book by its cover. This sentence could hardly apply any better to someone in theological history than to the figure of Judas Iscariot, who represents only one thing at first glance: Betrayal. If you take a closer look, almost endless possibilities of interpretation open up here: from "Judas the murderer" to "Judas the redeemer" and "Judas the actual martyr", who, if you believe in it, could only find room in hell for his salvific betrayal after dying for what he did, in complete contrast to Jesus Christ. This field of tension and the apocryphal writings of the "Gospel of Judas" are the basis for a double album that not only illuminates the dark and light side of history, but above all the grey areas in between, in which we move emotionally and ideologically throughout our lives and try to find our place.”

Lord Of The Lost blur the lines between good and evil with their magnum opus Judas

Judas sets off with atmospheric “Priest”, followed by “For They Know Not What They Do”, making clear right from the beginning that all the songs can be experienced the most organic and vivid way: A genuine, unique choir accompanies singer Chris Harms, whose multi-dimensional voice delivers the haunting lyrics straight into the listener’s mind more strongly than ever. Songs like “Your Star Has Led You Astray” or “Born With a Broken Heart” easily manage to keep the balance between harsh vocals, the distorted sound of fuzz guitars and an overall dark atmosphere that Lord Of The Lost is known for, whilst “Death Is Just a Kiss Away”, “My Constellation” and closing “Work of Salvation”, for example, put grand piano tunes, authentic strings and the sound of a massive organ recorded in a church in the most suitable focus.

Judas marks the successor of chart-breaking Thornstar (2018, #6 GER), and again breathes the innovative spirit of five musicians who are far away from setting boundaries into their very own unique art. Lord Of The Lost has never been that type of creative force that’s pinned to any specific genre and has succeeded in surprising fans and critics with their nonconformism repeatedly over the years. With their new album Judas, Lord Of The Lost manage to thematically blur the lines between good and evil and put the so called “salvific treason” into a harmonious soundscape unlike ever heard before - truly an magnum opus!

Judas will be available in the following formats:

Former IRON MAIDEN Members PAUL DI'ANNO And BLAZE BAYLEY To Be Inducted Into 'Metal Hall Of Fame'

Former IRON MAIDEN Members PAUL DI'ANNO And BLAZE BAYLEY To Be Inducted Into 'Metal Hall Of Fame'

Former IRON MAIDEN members Paul Di'Anno and Blaze Bayley, along with the creator of the MAIDEN mascot "Eddie," Derek Riggs, will be inducted into the Metal Hall Of Fame.

Di'Anno wrote and sang on MAIDEN's first two legendary albums. They are still considered by many IRON MAIDEN fans to be their favorites.

Bayley was hired following the departure of vocalist Bruce Dickinson in the 1990s. Bayley wrote and sang for IRON MAIDEN for five years and recorded two albums with the band. Blaze-era songs are still concert staples in the band's setlist today.

Riggs is the genius behind the visual side of IRON MAIDEN. He created the iconic Eddie character, one of the most beloved mascots in history. Many can argue that a huge part of the band's continuous global success is attributed to the sinister, gruesome, shape-shifting Eddie.

"We are excited to induct these three artists who have helped shape the legacy of IRON MAIDEN," says Pat Gesualdo, Metal Hall Of Fame president/CEO.

Gesualdo also addressed the fans' overwhelming demand to induct all former and current members of IRON MAIDEN.

"Along with the band's massive fanbase, we've wanted to induct all the members of the band for years," he said. "However, we've been waiting for the green light from management. Hopefully with the continued support and encouragement from fans throughout the world, we can induct all the members of IRON MAIDEN into the Metal Hall Of Fame soon.”

Due to the current health advisory, the 2021 Metal Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held online at a date to be announced.

The Metal Hall Of Fame is dedicated to forever enshrining the iconic musicians and music industry executives responsible for making hard rock and heavy metal music what it is today. Their contribution to the genre is invaluable, and they continue to inspire fans throughout the world, from generation to generation.

The Metal Hall Of Fame is part of the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization D.A.D. (Drums And Disabilities). D.A.D. provides free therapy and advocacy services for special needs children and wounded veterans in health facilities, schools, and community centers in over 15 countries.

As previously reported, IRON MAIDEN has been nominated for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame's class of 2021. The top vote-getters will be announced in May and inducted in a Cleveland, Ohio, ceremony in the fall.

According to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, the IRON MAIDEN members that would get inducted include the current lineup of singer Bruce Dickinson, bassist Steve Harris, drummer Nicko McBrain, and guitarists Adrian Smith, Dave Murray and Janick Gers, along with former guitarist Dennis Stratton, Di'Anno and former drummer Clive Burr.

Former VENOM Guitarist JEFF 'MANTAS' DUNN Defends Early Tourmates METALLICA: 'They Have Worked For Their Success'

Former VENOM Guitarist JEFF 'MANTAS' DUNN Defends Early Tourmates METALLICA: 'They Have Worked For Their Success'

For its very first European tour in 1984, METALLICA hooked up with black metal pioneers VENOM, on the latter's "Seven Dates Of Hell" tour, which included concerts in Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium and the Aardschok Festival in the Netherlands.

In a brand new interview with "The Chuck Shute Podcast", former VENOM and current VENOM INC. guitarist Jeff "Mantas" Dunn recalled the trek, saying (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Lars [Ulrich, METALLICA drummer] was pretty fucking rowdy. I remember we were in a motel somewhere, and it was my manager that stopped me coming out of the motel room, 'cause I was gonna go upstairs and kill Lars at one point, 'cause he was just partying all night, and we had a flight to get to the next day. He was, like, 'Oh, no, no, no, no.' He said, 'I'll go and sort it out.' I was going, 'I'll fucking kill him.' I mean, fucking hell.

"I've met them quite a few times since that period, and we always talk," he continued. "I think it was 2016 or '17, we were doing an American tour as VENOM INC., and we played in San Francisco, and James [Hetfield, METALLICA frontman] came down to see us. And it was so weird. I was on stage, and I looked up into the balcony, and there was James Hetfield fucking air-guitaring and signing every fucking word… [He's] still a big fan.

"I was actually in the dressing room afterwards, and one of the techs brought my guitar in. So I was just toweling my guitar down. I was putting it in the case and just getting changed. And all I heard was, 'Hey, Jeff.' I turned around, and there was James Hetfield.

"Say what you want about those [METALLICA] guys, but fuck, they have worked for their success," Jeff added.

In a 2012 interview with Rolling Stone, METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett said that he and his bandmates were "super-psyched" about embarking on their first European tour with VENOM. "I thought I was worldly, because I'd stayed in New York for a few months," he said. "But to go to Europe, for James, Cliff [Burton, bass] and I, the culture shock hit us pretty hard. It was the food, the language barrier, the fact that stores were opening and closing at different times of the day. On Sundays, you couldn't get anything. The television was different. You couldn't read anything when you looked around. We got over it after awhile, but it was so different than any of us expected.

"Six months previous to that, I was sitting in my Volkswagen, drinking vodka, driving over the Bay Bridge, cranking VENOM on my way to hear some metal bands play in a club in San Francisco. Now I'm on tour with them. It was quite a leap for me. I went from being an uber-heavy metal fan to being a heavy metal musician, to being in it."

Two years ago, VENOM frontman Conrad "Cronos" Lant looked back on his band's tour with METALLICA in an interview with Consquence Of Sound, saying: "It was a great time. And it was a good time for those guys to actually be able to hit the European shows.

"We were looking for bands like us, because, as we always said, we have a different crowd," he explained. "We [were] not pulling the same kind of crowd that would go and see… MÖTLEY CRÜE or whatever.

"A friend of mine used to have a bootleg stall, and he came to me one day with a VHS tape, and said, 'I've seen this band in San Francisco, and they are just like you guys.' And it was a METALLICA show, with Dave Mustaine wearing his [VENOM] 'Welcome To Hell' shirt. So, when we got the opportunity to get in touch with [Megaforce Records founder and former METALLICA manager] Jon Zazula and go over there, we said, 'There's a band on the other side of the country…' Now, we traveled 3,000 miles from England to New York, and those guys traveled 3,000 miles from the West Coast to New York, so that's fair — we'd meet in the middle. And then after that, I remember I told James that story, and he said, 'Oh no, no, no. There is a band that's really, really like you guys.' And that's when he told us about SLAYER. He said, 'There is a band in L.A. just like you guys.' And then from there on, it went from EXODUS and everybody started coming out — it was amazing.

"But the METALLICA boys, they're hard-working guys," Cronos added. "Fuckin' hell, I couldn't take that away from them. We were getting to the end of the 'Seven Dates Of Hell Tour' in Europe [in February of 1984], and we were all getting ready to go home and put our feet up and start working on the next record. And I said, 'What plans have you guys got?' And I remember Lars [Ulrich] said, 'We've lined up our own tour.' And I was, like, 'Wow, you guys never stop!'

"I don't give a shit if people say, 'This album is terrible or that album is terrible.' Every band that has a long career is going to have good and bad releases. And I don't give a shit about what people say about METALLICA's career as a whole — they were hard-working guys in the early days, and nobody can take that away from them."

JAMES LABRIE On DREAM THEATER's Upcoming Album: 'The Fans Are Just Gonna Flip Out When They Hear It'

JAMES LABRIE On DREAM THEATER's Upcoming Album: 'The Fans Are Just Gonna Flip Out When They Hear It'

DREAM THEATER singer James LaBrie spoke to "Breaking Absolutes" host Peter Orullian about the writing and recording process for the band's upcoming follow-up to 2019's "Distance Over Time" album. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "When the songs were done, and then we were constructing the melodies, and John [Petrucci, guitar] and I got together, and it was really cool. I'm the kind of lyricist that I like my melodies written before I start doing my lyrics, because I just find that that also lends itself to the emotion. And then the emotion kinds of lends itself to the subject matter.

"With this album, all I can say is that the music as a whole, and now with the vocals on top of it… I don't know. I'll just leave it at this. I said to John when I was finishing the last vocal, I said, 'You know what? We just upped the ante.' I said, 'We just hit a whole new level.' And I said, 'This is our 15th freaking album, and we've done it again. We've upped the ante. There's something going on here that I think the fans are just gonna flip out when they hear it.' And he goes, 'I said that to my wife the other night. I was sitting down. I was listening to the album from front to back, and I was freaking out.' And I go, 'Same here. I'm listening to these songs when we're done, and I'm going back to the hotel room and I'm listening to them, and I'm going, 'Holy shit. What the hell is going on here?'' And I think it's very exciting. And even Jordan [Rudess, keyboards] — he was FaceTiming me, going, 'Holy shit.' He's all amped up. He's, like, 'Is it just me or are you hearing this stuff?' And I'm, like, 'No, man. There's something really cool going on here.' And he's going, 'The fans are gonna freak out.'I go, 'Yeah, they are. They really are.'

"Now, all that being said, I can't really delve [into it in more detail]," he continued. "And I'm sorry for being so ambiguous. That's about as accurate as I can get.

"I will say this: in a few weeks, I take off, and I'm going down, and we're doing a big photo shoot, and we're shooting the first video for the first single, or what we consider a single. What the hell's a DREAM THEATER single? What is that? What the hell is a single anymore? So I'm going down and we're shooting a video for that. So we're all pretty excited about this. The ball's starting to roll. The label's really, really psyched. They can't wait to get this in the high gear."

Earlier this month, Petrucci told Germany's Thomann that he and his banmates had been working on the new DREAM THEATER album since October. "And I am super excited about it. The record [is] filled with energy and excitement and positivity. I'm excited about it. I can't wait for people to hear that."

DREAM THEATER's new album is tentatively due in the fall.

"Distance Over Time" marked DREAM THEATER's first album for for Sony Music's progressive imprint InsideOut Music. The group spent the past 25 years recording under various labels in the Warner Music Group system, most recently Roadrunner Records, which released five albums by the band between 2007 and 2016.

DREAM THEATER recently released its ninth career live album, "Distant Memories - Live In London". Recorded at DREAM THEATER's sold-out show at the Apollo Theatre in London, the live release documents the band's world tour in support of "Distance Over Time" and the 20th anniversary of their seminal concept album "Metropolis Part 2 - Scenes From A Memory".

CONEY HATCH Release Live From The El Mocambo, A Limited Edition 2LP Vinyl Collectors Authorized Bootleg

CONEY HATCH Release Live From The El Mocambo, A Limited Edition 2LP Vinyl Collectors Authorized Bootleg

One of Canada’s most beloved and iconic hard rock bands, Coney Hatch, first rose to prominence back in the golden era when vinyl was king - and the preferred format of most music fans.

So, it makes perfect sense for Coney Hatch - Carl Dixon (guitars, vocals), Andy Curran (bass, vocals ), Dave Ketchum (drums, vocals) and Sean Kelly (guitar, vocals) - to finally release their first ever long awaited live record on a 2 LP vinyl set. The set list reads like a “best of” for any Coney fan including songs from their debut classic 1982 Anthem / Mercury album along with selections from Outa Hand 1983, Friction 1985 and Coney Hatch Four 2017.

Coney Hatch enjoyed major radio airplay success in Canada and the US in the early 80’s and with the help of MTV landed many prestigious special guest slots touring along side Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Krokus, Accept, Ted Nugent, Cheap Trick, Peter Frampton, Triumph, The Tubes and Edgar Winter to name a few. They became instant press darlings with UK outlets but didn’t actually tour overseas until 2014, where they headlined Firefest in Nottingham, UK.

This first ever Coney Hatch Live record set is available independently now through the bands official webstore, here, as well as Isotope distribution for retail. A limited amount of CDs will soon be made available at these same outlets.

A rock music collector’s dream, the Coney Hatch official live El Mocambo bootleg set includes:

- Vinyl #1 #2 #3 #4 : Live from the ElMocambo
- Hand Stamped "one of a kind" Bootleg style album jacket
- Retro 8.5 X 11 souvenir insert with band photo, track listing + production credits
- Re-sealable poly bag & official outer sticker with numbering
- 100 Limited editions signed by all 4 band members
- 200 limited editions numbered “non signed” versions

You can check out the band’s video of the opening song live from the legendary El Mocambo, hosted by BraveWords' "Metal" Tim Henderson, below.

The 1982 Coney Hatch debut record’ spawned such rock radio hits as “Devil’s Deck,” “Monkey Bars,” and “Hey Operator,” all which became automatic concert favorites. That album was also the highest-charting of the band’s career and earned them a Gold certification in Canada.

“We’re really proud of Live at The El Mocambo. It ’s our first ever live record record and it captures the spirit and true sound of our band. There's some really great moments from our return to the iconic El Mocambo and it would not have happened without the passion of Elmo CEO Michael Wekerle…huge high five to Wek! ” - Andy Curran

The 15-song set was captured during the bands Nugs.net live stream show last October 3, 2020 and was engineered by Doug McClement and mixed by Vic Florencia, both are Juno Award winning engineers.

L.A. GUNS Unveils Details Of New Live Album, 'Cocked & Loaded Live'

L.A. GUNS Unveils Details Of New Live Album, 'Cocked & Loaded Live'

L.A. GUNS, featuring Phil Lewis and Tracii Guns, will release a new live album, "Cocked & Loaded Live", on July 9 via Frontiers Music Srl. As the title implies, the performance celebrates the band's treasured second album, "Cocked & Loaded". Fans can get their first taste of the performance with the track "Malaria". "Cocked & Loaded Live" will precede the release of a brand new studio album from Lewis, Guns and company, "Checkered Past", which is due in November.

As everyone knows at this point, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has dealt a difficult blow to the entire live music business. While artists, road crews, venues, and fans all collectively eagerly await a return to normalcy, artists have gotten busy bringing live music to fans' living rooms. While they had just commenced work on an upcoming new studio album, in November 2020, L.A. GUNS wanted to get together and do one of the things they love most, which is play a "live" show. The band announced a special gig at the Fremont Country Club in Las Vegas, Nevada that would celebrate the 31st anniversary of "Cocked and Loaded".

Lewis, Guns, Ace Von Johnson, Johnny Martin and Scot Coogan, thus played a one-of-a-kind show which was streamed worldwide to fans in the comfort of their own homes. The band performed all the classic proper studio tracks from "Cocked & Loaded" and, as usual, delivered a killer show. Picking right up where they left off from their previous incessant touring cycles and relieved to finally be onstage again, the band tore through all the classic album tracks that fans know and love. From "Rip And Tear" to "Never Enough" to "The Ballad Of Jayne" to "I Wanna Be Your Man" and "Malaria", this was a primal, visceral performance. And while celebrating a milestone in their career, the band also acknowledged the present and played "Speed" from their more recent album "The Missing Peace".

"We played only 'Cocked & Loaded' and 'Speed' — one extra song — and the recording is fantastic," Tracii told TotalRock. "And it was a really meager kind of weird gig — it was weird — but the recording is great; it really turned out great. So Frontiers asked if we could put it out, and [we said], 'Yeah. Okay.' So the packaging is great. The album is great. And that comes out. So that's definitely for all the L.A. GUNS fans that wanna hear great versions of those songs live."

"Cocked & Loaded Live" track listing:

01. Slap In The Face

02. Rip And Tear

03. Sleazy Come Easy Go

04. Never Enough

05. Malaria

06. The Ballad Of Jayne

07. Magdalaine

08. Give A Little

09. Speed

10. 17 Crash

11. Showdown (Riot On Sunset)

12. Wheels Of Fire

13. I Wanna Be Your Man

Last week, a settlement was reached between drummer Steve Riley and Guns and Lewis over the rights to the L.A. GUNS name. Under the terms of the settlement agreement, Guns and Lewis will continue to operate under the L.A. GUNS trademark, while Riley and his bandmates from the other version of L.A. GUNS will now operate under the new name RILEY'S L.A. GUNS.

In May 2020, L.A. GUNS released a new single, "Let You Down". The song was written and recorded while the band was in the midst of working on its next studio album.

L.A. GUNS is:

Phil Lewis - vocals

Tracii Guns - guitars

Ace Von Johnson - guitars

Johnny Martin - bass

Scot Coogan - drums

HASBRO Announces Sale of eOne's Music Business

HASBRO Announces Sale of eOne's Music Business

Hasbro, Inc. announced on Monday (April 26) that it has entered into a definitive agreement to sell Entertainment One Music (eOne Music) for an aggregate price of US$385 million in cash. The transaction has been approved by the board of directors of Hasbro and Entertainment One Canada Limited, and is subject to customary closing conditions and receipt of regulatory approvals. eOne Music will be acquired by entities controlled by Blackstone, which also owns SESAC, a leading music rights organization. Subsequent to the closing of the transaction, eOne Music will operate as a separate business unit headed by its current global president, music industry veteran Chris Taylor, and will focus on building a creator-first music brand with global scale and expertise. Purchased by Hasbro in 2019 as part of its acquisition of Entertainment One, eOne Music is a leading independent music business.

eOne's music assets include recordings by Ace Frehley, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY and POP EVIL.

Brian Goldner, Hasbro's chairman and CEO, said: "This transaction will ensure that eOne Music is well positioned to unlock great opportunities for its many talented artists and partners, as Hasbro continues to focus on the core strategic elements of our brand blueprint to further strengthen our position as a purpose‐led play and entertainment company. On behalf of the board and Hasbro management, I want to recognize the strong leadership of Chris Taylor and the entire eOne Music organization."

Taylor said: "I'm excited to continue to lead and grow this exceptional business. We want the creative community to know that we are focused on making sure that this only benefits them and the work we do together. I also want to thank Brian Goldner and Hasbro for their support and partnership."

Hasbro intends to use its net proceeds from the sale to accelerate deleveraging and other general corporate purposes.

As part of the transaction, Entertainment One Canada Limited will sell the Canadian music division.

Subject to customary closing conditions and receipt of regulatory approvals, the transaction is expected to close in the second or third quarter of 2021.

eOne generates about $120 million in annual revenue, according to the company's 2019 financial report. The music operation began life in 1987 as Koch Entertainment, with founder Michael Koch selling the company in 2005 to the Row Entertainment Income Fund for about $80 million. The fund subsequently changed its name to Entertainment One Income Fund and then simply Entertainment One

Former ACCEPT Members UDO DIRKSCHNEIDER, PETER BALTES And STEFAN KAUFMANN Reunite In 'Face Of A Stranger' Video

Former ACCEPT Members UDO DIRKSCHNEIDER, PETER BALTES And STEFAN KAUFMANN Reunite In 'Face Of A Stranger' Video

DIRKSCHNEIDER & THE OLD GANG, the project featuring former ACCEPT members Udo Dirkschneider (vocals), Peter Baltes (bass) and Stefan Kaufmann (guitar), has released a new single and video, "Face Of A Stranger". Check it out below.

DIRKSCHNEIDER & THE OLD GANG, which is rounded out by Udo's son Sven Dirkschneider (drums), Manuela Bibert (vocals) and Mathias Dieth (guitar), issued its debut single, "Where The Angels Fly", last September. A third single, "Every Heart Is Burning", will arrive on May 28, to be followed by the August 27 release of all three songs as the "Arising" CD, a 12-inch vinyl and a download.

DIRKSCHNEIDER & THE OLD GANG is:

Udo Dirkschneider - Lead Vocals, Backing Vocals

Peter Baltes - Bass, Lead Vocals, Backing Vocals

Manuela Bibert - Lead Vocals, Backing Vocals

Stefan Kaufmann - Rhythm Guitar, Backing Vocals

Mathias Dieth - Lead Guitar, Backing Vocals

Sven Dirkschneider - Drums, Backing Vocals

Last July, Udo ruled out the possibility of a reunion with ACCEPT. The singer, who last reconnected with ACCEPT in 2005 for a number of exclusive shows, discussed the prospect of a renewed working relationship with his bandmates during an interview with "The Rock N Ragni Show". Speaking about the fact that Baltes and Kaufmann both appear on the latest album from his U.D.O. project, "We Are One", Dirkschneider said: "It's, in a way, a reunion if we were working together songwriting-wise. That was interesting. But a lot of people came up already [saying this opens the door to an ACCEPT] reunion. And I said, 'What kind of reunion?' It's not possible to do a reunion with ACCEPT. There is only one guy left," referring to guitarist Wolf Hoffmann. "Sorry, but there is no reunion with ACCEPT. Of course, some people are thinking, 'Now he's working already with Peter and Stefan.' But no. Forget this. [Laughs] Definitely not."

In November 2019, Hoffmann told Powermetal.cl that he no longer kept in touch with Baltes after the bassist exited ACCEPT a year earlier. "Unfortunately, when somebody leaves the band, they're always kind of out of sight, out of mind," Wolf explained. "It's very sad. I wish it wasn't that way, because we've been friends for so long. But the reality is I haven't really heard from him — even though I reached out a couple of times. He's almost like he wants to disappear or he wants to leave the music business altogether. It's sad and I still don't quite understand what really happened. But it is what it is, and we move on."

Kaufmann was the drummer for ACCEPT on nine albums but was forced to give up drumming towards the end of the band's initial run after sustaining a serious injury to his back.

Stefan joined U.D.O. as a guitar player in 1996, following ACCEPT's second breakup, and recorded nine albums with them, including his most recent release with the group, 2011's "Rev-Raptor".

Back in 2015, Hoffmann dismissed Dirkschneider's comment that the band's then-lineup — which included Baltes and ACCEPT's singer of more than a decade, Mark Tornillo — performed live "without any emotion." "It's just hilarious at this point," Wolf said. "It's just a big joke in our lives. And we just go on about our lives, and we do our thing, and we just… We let these things go by and laugh about it. He's actually sort of our press agent, in a way. He keeps us [in the news]."

MOTÖRHEAD's 'No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith' Gets 40th-Anniversary Expansion

MOTÖRHEAD's 'No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith' Gets 40th-Anniversary Expansion

Back in the summer of 1981, MOTÖRHEAD got louder, dirtier and more universal, and you're getting an invitation to relive this most glorious of achievements once again…

Following on from 2020's year-long celebration of MOTÖRHEAD's iconic "Ace Of Spades" album comes the live album to end all live albums the undisputed definitive live record of all time, "No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith". To celebrate the 40th anniversary of this number one album, it is being presented in new deluxe editions.

There will be hardback book-packs in two CD and triple LP formats, featuring a new venue demolishing remaster of the original album, bonus tracks and the previously unreleased — in its entirety — concert from Newcastle City Hall, March 30, 1981, the story of the album and many previously unseen photos. Also, the album will be released as a four-CD box set of all three concerts recorded for the album, released here in their entirety for the very first time and primed to gleefully shatter what's left of your grateful eardrums.

Upon that original June 27, 1981 release, Lemmy is quoted as saying of "No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith" after it crashed into number one in the U.K. chart: "I knew it'd be the live one that went best, because we're really a live band. You can't listen to a record and find out what we're about. You've got to see us." "No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith" was MOTÖRHEAD's first and only number one record in the U.K. and is still the most necessary live album of all time.

The "No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith" CD box set contains:

* The "No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith" album, remastered from the original master tapes. Featuring extra bonus tracks and newly unearthed, previously unreleased sound check recordings.

* The three full recordings of the concerts that made up "No Sleep", never before released in their entirety.

* The story of "No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith" told through previously unpublished and new interviews with the people that were on the road at the time.

* Never-before-seen photos and rare memorabilia.

* Double-sided, A3 concert posters from 1981.

* Reproduction USA '81 tour pass.

* MOTÖRHEAD "England" plectrum.

* 1981 European tour badge.

* Reproduction Newcastle City Hall ticket

* Port Vale gig flyer postcard

MOTÖRHEAD in 1981 was a band of extremes; a flammable mix of non-stop celebration over their rising success and punishing graft, underscored by an inter-band powder-keg dynamic. After recording "Ace Of Spades", it had shot to No. 4 in the UK; the killer breakthrough after "Overkill" and "Bomber" had done essential groundwork, late 1980's "Ace Up Your Sleeve" U.K. tour was a triumphant lap of honour that spilled into the recording of "No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith". The album took its title from an inscription painted on one of the trucks, referencing the 32 gigs they were playing with only two days off. The track listing ended up featuring three tracks from "Ace Of Spades", five from "Overkill", "Bomber"'s title track and two from their self-titled debut.

EXODUS Delays 'Persona Non Grata' Album Release Until November

EXODUS Delays 'Persona Non Grata' Album Release Until November

San Francisco Bay Area thrashers EXODUS have delayed the projected release of their recently completed new album, "Persona Non Grata", until November so that drummer Tom Hunting can fully recover from his battle with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the stomach and join his bandmates on the road in support of the effort.

EXODUS singer Steve "Zetro" Souza addressed the delay in the latest episode of his "Zetro's Toxic Vault" Internet show. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I know a lot of you guys have said, 'Oh, it was supposed to be out and released this summer,' and it was — it was gonna be released this summer. But this has kind of put a damper in things a little bit. So, the decision from the band and the decision from management and the label and everybody — I mean, it makes sense.

"It's a career-defining record," he added. "You guys have not heard it yet, but it's a career-defining album. And once you hear it, you will understand that. And it makes sense why we waited, so that he can be part of this. 'Cause nobody's thinking he's not — he's gonna fully recover from this. And we'll be out kicking your asses once again."

Zetro reiterated his optimism that Tom will beat the disease, with which the drummer was diagnosed in February.

"Tom's gonna have to have some treatment, and that's actually already started," Souza said. "He told me that he wanted people to know so that if anybody's experiencing these kinds of things, he wanted to open their eyes. And I thought that was great. I know you wanna keep it private and keep it to yourself, and it is a very heavy situation when something like this happens. But you definitely want to embrace that person and make sure that they're comfortable through it.

"Tom is one of the strongest guys I've ever met, if not the strongest guy," Zetro continued. "He lives in the mountains, and his training regimen is straight up out of 'Rocky IV'. I mean, he chops wood, and he really chops wood. I could chop about three fucking logs if I was lucky, and I'm done. He'll sit there and chop for ours. He's a very strong guy, and we all know that he's gonna beat this."

The squamous cell carcinoma of the stomach is a very uncommon entity, with worldwide incidence of 0.04% to 0.07% of all gastric cancers.

"Persona Non Grata" will be the follow-up to 2014's "Blood In Blood Out", which was the San Francisco Bay Area thrashers' first release since the departure of the group's lead singer of nine years, Rob Dukes, and the return of Souza, who previously fronted EXODUS from 1986 to 1993 and from 2002 to 2004.

"Persona Non Grata" was recorded at a studio in Lake Almanor, California and was engineered by Steve Lagudi and EXODUS. It was produced by EXODUS and was mixed by Andy Sneap.

The 56-year-old Hunting revealed the diagnosis in a statement released on April 13. He said at the time: "Today I will be starting treatment for a squamous cell carcinoma. It's a gastric tumor that was diagnosed in my upper stomach in February.

"I'm making this public to raise awareness for people to pay attention to symptoms of stomach and esophageal issues. If they persist, please go get it checked out.

"I'm not gonna be sheepish talking about it. I feel that if I can help someone with what I've learned, or someone out there has information to share with me, it's a win-win! When you can name the enemy, it's empowering, and you're 1 step closer to killing it!

"Ok, you've heard the bad news. The good news is he feels great physically! I'm gonna beat this like a fucking snare drum that owes me money!!! I've had great doctors and a great support system that is an army in itself. I'm ready for the fight!"

EPICA Announces 'Omega Alive' Global Streaming Event

EPICA Announces 'Omega Alive' Global Streaming Event

Dutch symphonic metal heavyweights EPICA have announced their first-ever streaming event titled "Omega Alive". The universal streaming event will mark the band's triumphant return to the stage to perform for the first time in support of their latest album, "Omega", their eighth full-length release the band's first album in five years.

"Omega Alive" will be streamed on Saturday, June 12 at 12:00 p.m. PST / 3:00 p.m. EST / 9:00 p.m. CET and will be available on demand for 72 hours. Early bird tickets and exclusive bundles are on sale now at www.EpicaStream.com.

This one-of-a-kind online event will be the band's most explosive performance to date with an enormous production on an ever-evolving stage setting that's full of visual surprises. It will see the band perform songs from Ωmega for the first time ever, along with the band's most popular songs and some other surprises.

Says EPICA keyboardist, and the mastermind behind the event, Coen Janssen: "After releasing our new album 'Omega', we found ourselves with great new songs aching to be played live, but without a stage to perform them on. We still wanted to give our fans the best possible release show like we always do, so, together with Jens De Vos from Panda Productions, we came up with a way to bring the EPICA experience into the homes of the fans all over the world. 'Omega Alive' is EPICA's biggest show ever, and I can't be more proud of what it has become! We went all out on everything we have to offer and I can tell you it is one massive audio-visual spectacle! Immerse yourself in the world of EPICA and join us in 'Omega Alive'!"

EPICA was formed by composer Mark Jansen after leaving AFTER FOREVER in 2002, and the band quickly gained attention outside their home country, taking big steps towards becoming the leading symphonic metal superpower they have long proven to be. After their ambitious debut "The Phantom Agony" (2002) and the surprisingly eclectic sophomore work "Consign To Oblivion" (2005), the road took them to new heights via their first concept masterpiece "The Divine Conspiracy" (2007) and their global breakthrough "Design Your Universe" (2009). 2012's opus "Requiem For The Indifferent", 2014's bedazzling "The Quantum Enigma" and their finest, most embellished effort yet, "The Holographic Principle" (2016), cemented their reputation as not only one of the hardest-working metal bands in the business but also as one of the best. Period. With "Omega", the final part of the metaphysical trilogy they began with "The Quantum Enigma", they reclaim the throne without so much as the blink of an eye, amassing three million-plus streams during the first week of the album's release.

"Omega" is an album of unity, of friendship, of the close bond the members share. An album that naturally came together as a group effort. And no wonder: Mark Jansen, Simone Simons and keyboard player Coen Janssen have been playing together since EPICA's conception in 2002, with drummer Ariën Van Weesenbeek joining as early as 2007, lead guitarist Isaac Delahaye following in 2009. In 2012, bass player Rob Van Der Loo marked the latest addition to their ranks. For eight years, three records and hundreds of gigs, this band has formed an indestructible unit.

In the middle of a world in turmoil, of a cataclysmic change in society, EPICA somehow managed to create their most spectacular album yet. An album that is seamlessly bringing together metal and orchestra, choir and oriental instruments to a perfect storm constantly emitting goose bumps. A record with specifically written suites for orchestra and choir, featuring a wide range of ethnic instruments recorded around the world by some of the best native musicians out there. In short: They outdid themselves. Once again. And still managed to keep the songs approachable and wickedly catchy.

Since forming in 2002, the band has amassed an incredible amount of success, "Omega" entered the album Top 10 in Germany, Holland, Belgium and Switzerland. EPICA has toured the globe, performing at venerable festivals including Wacken Open Air, Hellfest, Heaven & Hell festival, Heavy MTL and Download, while also staging shows in countries where many metal bands have not played including South Korea, South Africa and Venezuela.

OZZY OSBOURNE Has Recorded 15 Songs For Next Studio Album: 'We're Getting There,' He Says

OZZY OSBOURNE Has Recorded 15 Songs For Next Studio Album: 'We're Getting There,' He Says

Ozzy Osbourne has confirmed to U.K.'s Metal Hammer magazine that he has spent the last few months working on the follow-up to 2020's "Ordinary Man" album with producer Andrew Watt.

"I've done 15 tracks," he said. "It's kept me alive, you know. These past two years, I've been in a terrible fucking state between the accident [Ozzy seriously injured himself after falling at home in 2019] and then the pandemic. It's kept me sane; I've needed the music."

Osbourne went on to say that the as-yet-untitled album is nearing completion.

"I struggle a bit, but slowly but surely we're getting there," he said. "My only concern right now is finishing the bloody thing. We've got the same production time as the last time, so there's definitely going to be some similarities. But you'll just have to wait and see what you think."

In December, Watt told Guitar World that he and the BLACK SABBATH legend were "halfway through" the new LP. "There's some songs on there that are like eight or nine minutes long that are these really crazy journeys. I'm really excited about it," he said.

Like "Ordinary Man", which featured Watt on guitar, Duff McKagan (GUNS N' ROSES) on bass and Chad Smith (RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS) on drums, Ozzy's next album will feature guest appearances by a number of notable musicians.

"There's a bunch of people involved," Andrew told Guitar World. "I can't say for sure until the end, but I started doing a bunch of basic tracks with Chad and Robert Trujillo [METALLICA], who used to play in Ozzy's band. And Taylor Hawkins [FOO FIGHTERS] also came in and played a bunch on the record as well, which adds a different flair — it kind of harkened back to Ozzy's '80s era, in a great way. And I think it's so cool for a rock fan to be able to listen to half an album with Chad Smith on drums, and then you flip it over and you get to hear Taylor Hawkins. And you know, the last album was really special for everyone involved. And so there was no point in Ozzy or me doing this again unless we thought we could bring something new to the table. And I feel like we're achieving that."

Last July, Ozzy said that he was still "not back to 100 percent" after suffering from several medical issues last year, including a fall, neck surgery and hospitalization for the flu. Ozzy also said that he was looking forward to performing again once he has regained his health and the coronavirus pandemic has subsided. The BLACK SABBATH singer had previously canceled all his 2019 tour plans, and the rescheduled 2020 shows were also scrapped.

In May 2020, Ozzy's son Jack said that his father will "probably" retire "within the next five to ten years." But Ozzy, who turned 72 in December, has repeatedly said that he is not calling it quits, despite the fact that his "No More Tours 2" — whenever it ends up happening — is being billed as his last major global trek.

Ozzy was also forced to cancel an April 2020 trip to Switzerland to see a doctor who specializes in treatment of Parkinson's disease. The singer revealed early last year that he was diagnosed with the condit

FEAR FACTORY's DINO CAZARES: How JAMES HETFIELD's Down Picking Influenced Me

FEAR FACTORY's DINO CAZARES: How JAMES HETFIELD's Down Picking Influenced Me

FEAR FACTORY guitarist Dino Cazares was recently interviewed on "Speak N' Destroy", a podcast about all things METALLICA, hosted by longtime journalist and METALLICA fan Ryan J. Downey. Dino talked about his upbringing; discovering METALLICA; the right hand of James Hetfield; touring with METALLICA in 2010; making sandwiches for former METALLICA and current MEGADETH guitarist Dave Mustaine in the early 1980s; getting FEAR FACTORY music to Tom Araya in a brick of weed; the history of his band, the search for a new FEAR FACTORY singer to replace Burton C. Bell, and how METALLICA shaped the FEAR FACTORY sound. You can now listen to the lengthy chat below.

Speaking about how Hetfield's rhythm playing inspired him, Cazares said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "I can tell you everybody combined that influenced me. It comes from [AC/DC's] Angus Young. That's where it comes from — the chords. Of course, you've got your Tony Iommis, and all that stuff was cool for when I began. But when I first heard METALLICA, when I first heard [James Hetfield's] right hand, I was, like, 'This is what I wanna do.'

"Everybody you get a piece of something from, but when it comes to down picking, when it comes to those kind of rhythms, James Hetfield was the man," Dino continued. "And the way he palm mutes and the way he picks, you feel the power. And the way he had his amps set up, his guitars, his pickup, all that created this certain crunch, this certain tone that I fell in love with instantly. And to me, that was more powerful. Because that palm right there… You can go back to [hums opening riff of 'Disposable Heroes']. That's all down picking… Then [hums another riff from 'Disposable Heroes'] — he had the alternate picking… And those were rhythms were, like, 'Holy shit!' It was, like, 'I've gotta learn that.' Right away, I had to learn that. But I've known him more for was his down picking, and that was really what I took from that — from his picking."

On April 16, FEAR FACTORY released its first new song in over five years, "Disruptor". The track will appear on the band's upcoming album, "Aggression Continuum", due on June 18 via Nuclear Blast Records.

"Aggression Continuum" features Cazares; drummer Mike Heller; and former vocalist, lyricist, and co-founder Burton C. Bell, who laid down his vocal tracks for the LP in 2017. It was produced and engineered by Damien Rainaud (DRAGONFORCE, ONCE HUMAN), with keyboards by Igor Khoroshev (ex-YES), and programming on two songs from longtime collaborator Rhys Fulber (FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY). "Aggression Continuum" was mixed by Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, TRIVIUM), who also worked on FEAR FACTORY's previous album, 2015's "Genexus".

EVILE Debut Official Lyric Video For New Single "The Thing (1982)"

EVILE Debut Official Lyric Video For New Single "The Thing (1982)"

This Friday, April 30, will see British thrash titans, Evile, release their brand new studio album, Hell Unleashed, via Napalm Records - the band’s first album in eight long years.

Since their formation in 2004, Evile have been turning heads and taking names, delivering four pure thrash offerings blended with an uncompromising death metal assault. Hell Unleashed, the long-awaited successor to their 2013 release Skull, will make no exception - but this time, the album features a new exciting lineup formation of Ol Drake on vocals/guitars and new member Adam Smith of RipTide as rhythm guitarist.

Today, the band has released a final single before the album drops - the thunderous new track “The Thing (1982)”. Intoxicating guitars build up to an unconditional, heavy storm of thrash metal: “The Thing (1982)” and its razor-sharp arrangement delivers another rousing aspect of Evile's new album. Bold cinematic influences merge with breakneck speed riffs and Ol Drake’s brute, unyielding vocals, highlighting Evile's potent musical expertise.

Vocalist/guitarist Ol Drake comments: "The third and final single from Hell Unleashed is not only based on my favorite movie of all time, but it's a strong contender for my favorite song off the album. This track goes through so many cool changes, with frenetic vocals which mirror the subject matter, and we couldn't be prouder of not only this song, but the entire album it's featured on. Blast "The Thing" as loud as you can!"

Hell Unleashed is a raucous and masterful thrash metal attack! In just 41 minutes, the album unchains the unbridled forces of hell, catches some rousing demons of the past, and provides classical thrash metal with a contemporary yet hard-edged touch. The newly staffed four-piece strikes again on nine explosive tracks, leaving nothing but a hammering world of sound taken apart by thrash. Endangering guitar lines, which quickly build up to a furious thrash manifesto and attack the eardrum at breakneck speed, meet the merciless velocity Evile are known and loved for.

Hell Unleashed was produced by Chris Clancy at Backstage Studios, UK, and will not only feature explosive guest backing vocals from Brian Posehn, but also include a cover song.

Ol Drake adds: "This is the first album Evile have done to include a cover song in the tracklisting. I've been a big fan of death metal for a long time, and seeing as this album is on the more extreme side of thrash vocally and musically, we thought it was a perfect opportunity to cover Mortician's 'Zombie Apocalypse'. It has one of the greatest riffs in it! We're also very excited about the return of the legendary Michael Whelan (Sepultura, Obituary, Stephen King) as cover artist. He did the art for our second album and he's always a pleasure to work with."

In North America, Hell Unleashed will be available in LP format in black vinyl, as well as in limited edition red vinyl (limited to 200), CD Jewel Case and digital formats. A special Limited Diehard Edition is also available, including an LP in Red/White Splatter vinyl, as well as an exclusive Artprint and band logo patch (limited to 100).
