TALAS Singer PHIL NARO Dies After Battle With CancerTALAS singer Phil Naro has passed away after a battle with tongue cancer. He was 63 years old.
The news of Naro's death was broken by his family earlier today. They said in a statement: "It is with great sadness that we must announce the passing of our son, father, friend and musician Phillip Sampognaro, known professionally as Phil Naro.
"Phil fought a valiant battle against cancer over the last few years but left this earth last night surrounded by his family and closest friends. A citizen of both the United States and Canada, he died at his home in Rochester. Funeral arrangements and tributes will be announced shortly. He is survived by sons James and John; brother Joseph; and his mother, Maria, who he loved dearly.
"Phil was one of those rare individuals known as a 'singer's singer.' A staple of both the Canadian and U.S. music scene, Phil had become a mainstay in venues ranging from clubs to large performing arts centers and massive arenas. He had just completed the debut album from the band LIPS TURN BLUE (formerly D DRIVE) which had secured a worldwide record deal, and a reunion album with Billy Sheehan and TALAS, of which he was a member in the 1980s. Phil had successfully balanced an in-demand solo career with a number of high-profile projects with other superstar musicians from bands such as THE RASCALS, VANILLA FUDGE, WHITESNAKE, YES, ASIA, and guitarist Ron Thal (ex-GUNS N' ROSES) as a member of THE PLATINUM ROCK ALL STARS. Phil was capable of an extraordinary number of music styles all built around his unmistakably powerful voice. Fortunately, Phil left us with an extraordinary amount of recorded music, which will allow his artistic legacy to live on forever."
In October, Naro revealed to iHeartRadio.ca that his cancer returned in the fall of 2019, six years after he had a tumor removed from his neck.
Last year, Naro reunited with bassist Billy Sheehan to record a new TALAS album, which is tentatively due before the end of 2021. "I managed to finish recording before I started my treatments," Phil told iHeartRadio.ca . "It was painful at times to sing, but I managed to finish."
A GoFundMe campaign was also launched "to help reduce some of this burden away from Phil during this incredibly arduous journey." More than $25,000 was raised before the fundraiser stopped accepting donations.
"I'm not going down," Naro told iHeartRadio.ca in October. "I'm going to fight this cancer right till the bitter end."
After fronting TALAS in the 1980s, Naro paired his powerful voice on a number of recording projects with KISS founding member Peter Criss and later with Canadian rockers CONEY HATCH. Phil also co-wrote and recorded several tracks with guitarist and founding member of THE RASCALS, Gene Cornish, and co-wrote three songs for Canadian artist Lee Aaron for her 1989 album "Bodyrock".
TALAS's new album will be released through Metal Blade Records.
Kings of the Buffalo, New York bar circuit, TALAS slogged it out through the 1970s and 1980s, hoping for the breakthrough that never quite came. When David Lee Roth left VAN HALEN, Sheehan immediately joined Roth's band, putting an effective end to TALAS.
Earlier today, Sheehan took to social media to pay tribute to Naro, writing: "Phil Naro. One of the finest human beings I have ever known. I'm deeply saddened to report his passing. He fought a valiant battle till the end, and inspired all who knew him to stay positive and keep going against all odds.
"A dear friend, spectacular singer and performer, songwriter, and lead singer in the 'version 2' TALAS — actually version 7 or 8 — as we were just completing a new record together, we found out the situation. Phil fought like a champion and brilliantly performed and completed vocals for the album, in spite of shouldering the knowledge that he was in a serious health situation.
"On behalf of myself and all who were lucky enough to know him, I wish him peace for all eternity, and thank him for sharing his life, love, friendship and talent with the world.
"God bless you, Phil. Rest in peace dear friend. We will meet again. My deepest condolences to his wonderful family, his dear sweet Mom, and his two sons."

CHAD SMITH On Upcoming RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS Album: 'It's Very Exciting'In a new interview with New York's Q104.3 radio station, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer Chad Smith was asked what fans can expect from the band in the coming months. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "There's a gag order on me. I do so many Zooms [video interviews], and they're, like, 'Why'd you say that?'" He then went on to confirm that "there's something coming. I can say this: we're making a record, we're making new music, and it's very exciting," he said. "I don't know when it's coming out, but we can't wait for people to hear it, and we can't wait to perform for people. Just like everybody else that really misses that experience."
Smith's interview focused primarily on his upcoming stint as the featured guest artist and host of the Ad Art Show 2021. The virtual opening is May 3 at 4 p.m. EST on mvvoart.com during Frieze Week. Artworks by Smith will be exhibited on the monumental screens of the Oculus at Westfield World Trade Center the final weekend of the show (May 29-30).
Last October, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS guitarist John Frusciante, who rejoined the band in December 2019, told the Australian digital radio station Double J that playing with his RHCP bandmates Anthony Kiedis, Flea and Smith once again was like "returning to family. I'm extremely comfortable with those people. It was as if no time had gone by at all when we started playing, pretty much, with a couple of minor exceptions, like how Chad and I gradually got our communication together in a new way. Basically, we're all just as comfortable with each other as we ever were, and it just felt like that right off the bat."
Frusciante rejoined RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS after the dismissal of Josh Klinghoffer, who had been in the band for 10 years.
Klinghoffer, who took over for Frusciante in 2010, told Rolling Stone that he received the news from his bandmates during a meeting at bassist Flea's house. Klinghoffer said he suspected the seeds for Frusciante's return had been planted far earlier, with the guitarist reaching out to singer Anthony Kiedis and their tour manager as much as 18 months prior.
He explained: "[John] was definitely showing his face in CHILI PEPPER world a little bit just with emails and apologizing about past behavior. So every time I would hear a story about that, I thought, 'What is he doing? Does he want to come back?'"
Klinghoffer said his firing was "a total blindside" as the band were "so far into the writing of a new record," adding, "Here was an album that was more than half written, but I guess I let my guard down because I thought we had done so much work." Klinghoffer said he expected the band to scrap the music they worked on and start over. The guitarist also said that he was "not particularly fond of the two records" he wrote and recorded on — 2011's "I'm With You" and 2016's "The Getaway".

SALIVA Unveils Documentary Detailing Quarter-Century CareerIn conjunction with the release of "Every Twenty Years", a EP celebrating the 20th anniversary of SALIVA's major label debut, "Every Six Seconds", the group has released a short documentary detailing its 25-year journey.
"We felt like it would be cool to give the fans a little peek behind the curtain of the history of SALIVA, so to speak," says guitarist Wayne Swinny.
Adds drummer Paul Crosby: "Twenty years is a long time ago, but I still remember it like it was yesterday. Making this documentary brought back memories of some really magical times."
At just under 20 minutes, the killDevil Films-produced documentary encapsules SALIVA's quarter-century career, from forming in Memphis in 1996 to rising to fame with "Every Six Seconds" and the addition of vocalist Bobby Amaru after the departure of Josey Scott a decade ago. The film also includes an appearance by producer Bob Marlette, who recounts his work with SALIVA on "Every Six Seconds".
"My decade in the band has been a great chapter in my life," Amaru says. "This documentary was something we wanted to do for the fans to have an inside look because without them, SALIVA doesn't exist. The 'Every Six Seconds' record has carried this band for 20 years and more. That's special!"
"Every Twenty Years" will be released on May 7 via Megaforce.
"Every Twenty Years" track listing:
01. Your Disease (2021 Version)
02. Click Click Boom (2021 Version)
03. After Me (2021 Version)
04. Greater Than/Less Than (2021 Version)
05. Spyhunter (2021 Version)
06. Spoonman (2021 Version)
Formed in Memphis is 1996, SALIVA released a self-titled a debut album the following year. After selling 10,000 copies of the self-released album, Island Records took notice of the band. "Every Six Seconds" and its hit singles, the Grammy-nominated "Your Disease" and "Click Click Boom", catapulted SALIVA into the mainstream and is now certified double platinum.
Two months ago, it was announced that SALIVA had abandoned its previously announced plan to reunite with Scott.
Scott broke the news of his return to SALIVA in October 2019 during an appearance on "The Morning Dump", a podcast hosted by "The Big Mad Morning Show" in Tulsa, Oklahoma. At the time, Josey said that he wanted to get together with SALIVA and "write a badass record."
SALIVA guitarist Wayne Swinny addressed Scott's status with the band during a March 2021 interview with Meltdown of Detroit's WRIF radio station. Asked if there are still plans for Josey to reunite with SALIVA for a possible album and/or a tour, Wayne said: "There was preliminary discussions, but it never really got off the ground. We just basically had to make plans and keep this train rolling, so to speak. It didn't make sense to me to stop what we were doing. 'Cause this unit, we've been together, it's been almost 10 years now, with Bobby in the band. Brad came along shortly after that. We're tight. We get along. It's a well-oiled machine. We've got a great crew, a great bus driver. It would throw a monkey wrench into the actual SALIVA."
SALIVA is:
Bobby Amaru - vocals
Wayne Swinny - guitar
Paul Crosby - drums
Brad Stewart - bass

SABATON Announces 'Defence Of Moscow' SinglePaying respects to the Soviet Union forces in WWII and in time for the Russian Victory Day on May 9, Swedish heavy metal heroes SABATON will release their new single, "Defence Of Moscow", on May 7. The song is a cover from Russian superstar Radio Tapok who has a huge following in Russian-speaking countries and who gained popularity by covering rock and metal songs in the Russian language.
"Defence Of Moscow" follows last year’s successful collaboration between SABATON and Radio Tapok on the live version of "The Attack Of The Dead Men". Covering the song in English and giving the song their unique SABATON style, the band is about to release another epic masterpiece that once again highlights an important turning point in European war history.
In order to give "Defence Of Moscow" the salute it deserves, SABATON created an extraordinary and strictly limited seven-inch vinyl single in red with a beautifully etched B-side. This rarity is only available for pre-order between May 7 and May 9, so make sure you place your order before it is too late. Keep an eye on SABATON's social media channels and website for information on how to purchase the vinyl.
SABATON bassist Pär Sundström states: "May 9 is celebrated as V-Day in Russia, the day to commemorate the victory over the Nazis in WW2. This year we participate in the memory of this event by releasing a song dedicated to the brave men who fought in the battle of Moscow.
"This track was originally written in Russian by our friend Radio Tapok. It's a very strong song and we thought it made sense that SABATON should give it a try to make a honorable cover of this song.
"We love to surprise everyone, and this is a great surprise."
Last month, SABATON released the English-language version of its latest single, "Livgardet" ("The Royal Guard").
SABATON's first new music since 2019's "The Great War", "The Royal Guard" honors the Swedish Royal Guards first established in the year 1521.
SABATON is arguably one of the most important bands to emerge from the modern metal scene, journeying forth with confidence on a steady ascendence that's rewarded them with five Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards (including "Best Live Band" three different years) and multiple nominations for the Swedish equivalent of the Grammy Awards, the Grammis. In 2016, "The Last Stand" debuted at No. 1 in three different European countries and cracked the Top 3 in four others. Joakim Brodén, Sundström, Chris Rörland (guitars), Hannes Van Dahl (drums) and Tommy Johansson (guitars) curate a festival of their own, Sabaton Open Air, that started back in 2008, as well as their own forward-thinking Sabaton Cruise, that is being held since 2009.
SABATON's ninth album centered on World War I, often referred to as "The Great War." "The Last Stand" delved into various "last stands" throughout history. "Livgardet" strengthens the band's well-known reputation as experts, aficionados, and storytellers regarding the triumph and tragedy of battle.
SABATON headlined London's Wembley Arena in February 2020. JUDAS PRIEST chose them as main support on their "50 Heavy Metal Years" tour of North America, scheduled for September and October 2021. The group will kick off 2022 with an unprecedented 29-city tour of their home country.

Why Did K.K. DOWNING Leave JUDAS PRIEST? ROB HALFORD RespondsIn a brand new interview with Brazil's "Inside With Paulo Baron", JUDAS PRIEST singer Rob Halford was asked why the band's founding guitarist K.K. Downing decided to exit the group a decade ago. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Well, I'm not gonna talk too much about this subject because it's what we call a 'hop topic.' But I think K.K. spoke for himself. K.K. wanted to retire and he wanted to do other things. Again, I can only reinforce that we give him our best and give him great wishes and good luck with everything that he's doing now. And that's it for me.
"I know what it's like when there are these things that happen in bands — whether it's PRIEST, whether it's IRON MAIDEN, whether it's MÖTLEY CRÜE, whether it's VAN HALEN, whether it's KISS. All bands have gone through these kinds of changes for various reasons. And they're very deep — emotionally, they're very deep.
"So, that's it. That's as much as I'm gonna say."
Downing, who left PRIEST in 2011 amid claims of band conflict, shoddy management and declining quality of performance, was replaced by Richie Faulkner, nearly three decades his junior.
Last year, Downing announced the formation of KK'S PRIEST, in which he is joined by fellow former PRIEST members Les Binks (drums) and Tim "Ripper" Owens (vocals). The band, which pays homage to Downing's past, is rounded out by guitarist A.J. Mills (HOSTILE) and bassist Tony Newton (VOODOO SIX).
In 2019, Halford didn't rule out Downing's reunion with PRIEST, saying "what will happen will happen." But bassist Ian Hill has said that there are no plans for PRIEST to invite Downing to return to the band. "Richie took over from Ken," Hill told Riff Magazine. "He's done an absolutely tremendous job, he really has. And he's made Ken's parts his own now. He's got his own angle on the lead breaks. Ken's part's been taken, and there's no plans to have Ken back, really. Hey, listen, never say never. But at the moment, we're going along quite well without Ken, so it could stay like that, I think, at least for the foreseeable future."
In 2018, Downing dismissed as a "load of bollocks" Hill's explanation for why K.K. wasn't invited to rejoin the band after fellow guitarist Glenn Tipton's Parkinson's diagnosis was made public. "We were like brothers; we went to infant school together and secondary school together, and we lived our career together," Downing said. "But I'm not totally happy about what's being said. Ian seems to be [saying] things like, 'None of the fans are missing K.K.,' and, 'Richie has brought a new energy to the band.' And I'm going, 'Ian, dude, on that last tour, I was the energy. I slowed down because people weren't keeping up with me.'… So I'm thinking, Ian, get a grip with yourself, mate. You've just replaced the energy with some energy. Fine — well, great. But that's not moving forward, Ian."
Tipton was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease seven years ago — after being stricken by the condition at least half a decade earlier — but announced in February 2018 he was going to sit out touring activities in support of PRIEST's latest album, "Firepower".
Three years ago, Downing revealed that he sent two resignation letters to his bandmates when he decided to quit JUDAS PRIEST. The first was described as "a graceful exit note, implying a smooth retirement from music," while the second was "angrier, laying out all of his frustrations with specific parties." Downing later said that he believed the second letter was "a key reason" he wasn't invited to rejoin PRIEST after Tipton's decision to retire from touring.
Halford's autobiography, "Confess", was released in September via Hachette Books. It was written with Ian Gittins, co-writer of "The Heroin Diaries" by Nikki Sixx.
Downing's own autobiography, "Heavy Duty: Days And Nights In Judas Priest", arrived in September 2018 via Da Capo Press.

OCEANIS Releases Dynamic Prog Metal Track “Innate”Oceanis, a progressive metal band from Liverpool, has dropped their new single “Innate”. The epic track was mixed by George Lever (Sleep Token, Loathe) and features guttural vocals and riffs for days, all before giving way to a clean vocal section.
The track is part of a concept album called Progenitor, “Humanity is spilt into two very opposing factions, both a different species from one another: ’Youths’ and ‘The Elders’. When one comes to the end of its life cycle, their bodies regenerate and they become the opposing species,” the band explain. “Existing alone and with the ability to self-replicate, a third and more sinister class of humanity has now been born and threatens the existence of all life, not only one this world but across the universe… Queue heavy riffs.”
Referencing influences such as Gojira, Lamb Of God and Mastodon, Oceanis meld these different sub-genres together resulting in brutal riffs and unpredictable song structures.

ASTAROTH INCARNATE Frontman Pays Tribute To Late Rapper DMX With Cover Of "Stop Being Greedy"Rap icon DMX - born Earl Simmons - passed away on April 9th, 2021 following a catastrophic cardiac arrest. Sam Astaroth, the Toronto-based frontman for Astaroth Incarnate, has paid tribute to him with a cover of the DMX hit, "Stop Being Greedy". Check it out below.
"Stop Being Greedy" is taken from the DMX debut album, It's Dark And Hell Is Hot, released in May 1998.
Sam: "DMX was one of my favorite artists growing up throughout my teen years. His vocals and lyrics were a huge influence on me towards developing my own harsh rap vocal style and eventually led me to doing extreme metal vocals. 'Stop Being Greedy' is one of my favorite songs by him and I was devastated by his unfortunate passing, so I wanted to cover this song to pay my respects to DMX the great. I got my good friend Nicholas Asis from Peru to help me out with additional rhythm and lead guitars on top of the original tune to make the song cater to two genres I absolutely love, rap and metal. If you loved DMX as much as I did then I hope you will resonate with this cover."
Toronto-based black metal band Astaroth Incarnate recently released a new EP, entitled Ascendance. It includes a cover of the Cradle Of Filth classic "Her Ghost In The Fog" featuring guest appearances from Hexenklad / former Eclipse Eternal frontman Voldemars and Alina Snowmaiden. They have released an official video for the track, which can be viewed below.

VÁLVERA Launch Video For "The Damn Colony"With a balance between aggressive sound, rough and tough vocals, and instrumental variety, the new thrash metal band Válvera continues to promote their album Cycle Of Disaster, released in 2020 on the label Brutal Records. With great production, the band unveils the music video for the track “The Damn Colony”.
Based on one of the worst episodes in Brazilian history, the song tells about the Hospital Colônia de Barbacena, the psychiatric hospital founded in 1903. With a capacity of 200 beds, the hospital housed an average of 5,000 patients and became known for the genocide that occurred between the '60s and '80s. Official estimates report over 60,000 deaths occurred inside the wards due to medical malpractice and torture over the years. Italian Psychiatrist Franco Basaglia compared the place to a Nazi concentration camp.
“We chose this song precisely because it is a delicate theme and very little publicized in our country, and also because it is one of the best songs on the album. The hospital was designed to contain the undesirable. About 70% of the inmates had no diagnosis of mental illness. There were sent 'unpleasant and uncomfortable people', such as political opponents, prostitutes, homosexuals, beggars, among other marginalized groups in society. As artists, we have an obligation to speak, to be the voice of the people, to ask questions so that episodes like this will never be repeated”, comments the band in an interview with Metal Hammer Portugal.

TORN BETWEEN TWO WORLDS Featuring SARAH JEZEBEL DEVA And CHRIS REHN Release New Single / Video "All Eyes On Me"Torn Between Two Worlds, featuring former Angtoria bandmates Sarah Jezebel Deva and Chris Rehn, recently released their debut single, "The Beauty Of Deception". The follow-up single, "All Eyes On Me" is now available here. Check out the official video below.
Sarah: "The video and song is about how we are judged, how we let negativity hold us back. How people’s vindictive actions can change our path in life, sometimes resulting in the worst possible outcome. As an example, online bullying and trolling can take its toll on children, which has lead to an increase in child suicide.
I wanted a bunch of people to come together without a fear of being judged. I wanted people to be themselves and not give a damn. It seems these days we are afraid of being stupid, afraid of just letting ourselves go!
From experience, I have let peoples views get the better of me, we all have. Being told I wasn’t good enough, being dictated to so it holds me back and destroying my dream. Suddenly something or someone wakes you up, some one woke me up, followed by a lot of other people agreeing with her and then supporting me. You learn not to give a damn anymore and you understand that confidence is envied. Don’t hurt any one or anything, but don’t let nastiness destroy you."

DOMINATION CAMPAIGN Sign To Prosthetic Records; New Single Out NowProsthetic Records reveal new signing Domination Campaign - an offshoot from Tasmanian death metal titans Psycroptic - and announce their forthcoming debut album, Onward To Glory, due out on July 9. Accompanying the signing and album announcement, the band have shared the release's lead single, "Death Before Dishonour", alongside a lyric video.
Speaking on signing to Prosthetic, the band comments: "We were really stoked to join with Prosthetic Records for this release as they’ve got a killer roster and we feel that we will be able to do great things with them."
On "Death Before Dishonour", the band adds: "'Death Before Dishonour' was the first track written for the album and it really set the bar for how the rest of the album would be... straight forward and heavy as fuck."
Formed by Psycroptic vocalist Jason Peppiatt, Domination Campaign started out as a solo project, but soon evolved to include bandmate Joe Haley on drums, as well as handling engineering duties.
Eschewing technicality in favour of straight up brutality, Onward To Glory is an eight track bludgeoning of epic proportions. Originally a vehicle to experiment with a different approach to music, Domination Campaign proved to be a creative outlet during enforced downtime during 2020; Onward To Glory was recorded, mixed and mastered in July 2020.
Conjuring up an old school death metal vibe, Domination Campaign take their lyrical cues from renowned battles throughout history, giving them a fictional slant in the re-telling. Describing his approach as ‘bone basic’, Peppiatt has succeeded in putting together an album that scratched his itch to experiment, whilst delivering a headbanger’s delight of an album.
As well as performing all vocals, guitar and bass for the album, Peppiatt also created the cover artwork. Keeping everything ‘in-house’ has resulted in a project that has spawned a self-assured, crushing beast of a debut.
Tracklisting:
"Death Before Dishonour"
"Onward To Glory"
"As Daylight Breaks"
"The Snipers Gaze"
"A Modern Age Of War"
"Against The Odds"
"Terror From Above"
"The Domination Campaign"

The band commented, "We are so stoked to be finally releasing this video! We had a blast making it and we hope our fans and Iron Maiden fans have a blast watching it! We wanted to pick old school metal songs we all liked that were also suitable in style for each band. It's our best effort to pay tribute to the '80s and early '90s metal that influenced each of our bands."

Swedish Thrashers LEACH Stream New "Serenade" VideoIf it’s burly, melodic, and fits together perfectly, it’s probably from Sweden. Leach certainly fall into the above categories, and their warts-and-all style of thrash 'n' roll is just begging for a throwdown.
Lovely Light Of Life is their third major rodeo and, straight out of the gate, it's a thrash, hardcore and rock 'n' roll mission statement. Leach have established a style and sound which is wholly theirs and makes them stand out from the crowd. Lovely Light Of Life will be released worldwide on May 21st on the American label, Brutal Records. A video for the song "Serenade" has just been issued.
The record features a varied yet cohesive collection of relentlessly chugging grooves and anthemic riffs carved out of the foundation of rock itself. The band is anything but a one-trick pony and has a distinctive knack of using dynamic changes and sonic shifts to keep listeners captivated. Leach know how to get the pit started and can keep their audience hooked in until the very last track.
To top it off, the production strikes a perfect balance between crisp and rough-'n'-ready - a tip to the skills of Christian Silver at Studiomega (Arch Enemy, Kreator, Soilwork, Dragonforce).
Lovely Light Of Life also includes a bonus track, “D.O.D”, featuring Soilwork vocalist Björn “Speed” Strid – a fact that the band is clearly delighted with. "Getting Björn to feature on one of our songs is of course a big deal. Us growing up in Sweden, Soilwork were such a big influence on us — still are. And Björn, being the pro he is, absolutely nailed it on the first try. Stoked to have him on one of our songs and definitely something we now can check off our bucket list."
Coming from such a rich music scene as Sweden's, a band cannot help but take some influence from their forefathers. In this case, the insistent energy of Raised Fist, the rock 'n' roll parts of latter-day Entombed, and the infectious melodies of The Haunted are all evident in Leach's sound. The US also gets a look in, with Hatebreed’s snarling bravado and the thrash-fest of Exodus and Nuclear Assault all figuring into the melting pot.

“Prelude”
“Serenade (For The Broken Brave)”
“Carry The Stigma”

Bangalore's BEVAR SEA Reveals "The Timeless Zone"Five years after releasing their sophomore album Invoke The Bizarre, Bangalore’s Bevar Sea used the COVID-19 imposed lockdown as an opportunity to regroup and start working on their third album, titled The Timeless Zone.
With the backdrop of the lyrics portraying a tryst with the consciousness of man, storying into travels and visions within the self, the music on this song and over the course of the album, pays homage to the glory years of the '70s and '80s hard rock and metal with the typical rifftastic stoner/doom sound the band has embraced on the two albums prior to this. Check out the first single and title track, "The Timeless Zone".
Bevar Sea adds: "The Timeless Zone, the song and the album, continues our approach of playing stoner doom music while being even more loyal to our hard rock and metal roots than before. Every band member had to step up and learn how to record themselves and work via email for arrangements, demos, and finally turn up one by one to record. This album is us embracing the 2021 way of making music while also being busy working from home, taking care of our families, and just dying to be able to play this new music to our fans live some day."

PETER GREEN - New Video Trailer Launched For Upcoming Book On Late FLEETWOOD MAC Co-Founder; "Need Your Love So Bad" Song Feat. DAVID GILMOUR StreamingLegendary Fleetwood Mac guitarist Peter Green passed away, peacefully in his sleep, on July 25, 2020. For the past four years, Peter worked directly with Rufus Publications to produce a huge, illustrated visual book of his life and career. During this time a book of rare images, memorabilia, lyrics and notes from his time in Fleetwood Mac and beyond has been assembled with Peter having full control over the book's direction and details.
During the evolution of the book it was decided to include some unique music as part of the project. A newly discovered vocal take by Peter, recorded in the late sixties in his mother’s house on a tape recorder, of "Need Your Love So Bad" formed the basis of the first song with guitars provided by Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour, a huge fan of Peter’s work. The track was produced by Laurie Latham. Peter heard and approved mixes of the track. Listen below:
The second track chosen was "Man Of The World" and Kirk Hammett of Metallica, another huge Peter Green fan and current owner of the legendary Greeny guitar, was approached and quickly joined the project. He flew into London and on January 6, 2020 he went into London’s Abbey Road with producer Rob Cass to record the guitar parts for his revised vision of the song, all using Greeny.
The following day Kirk went down to Canvey Island to meet with Peter and hand him Greeny once more but also to play him the guitar parts to "Man Of The World". Again Peter approved the music and approach. The track has now been mixed and finished in LA with legendary producer Bob Rock and also features Mick Fleetwood on drums.
Both tracks have been recorded for the book project and offer widely different interpretations of Peter’s work.
The book can be pre-ordered here, and will ship on what would be Peters 75th birthday, October 29, 2021.

EVILE - "Gore" Solo Guitar Playthrough Video PostedOn April 30th, British thrash titans Evile released their brand new studio album, Hell Unleashed, via Napalm Records - the band’s first album in eight long years. To coincide with the release, the band shared a guitar solo playthrough for the new song "Gore" courtesy of frontman Ol Drake. Check it out below.
Since their formation in 2004, Evile have been turning heads and taking names, delivering four pure thrash offerings blended with an uncompromising death metal assault. Hell Unleashed, the long-awaited successor to their 2013 release Skull, will make no exception - but this time, the album features a new exciting lineup formation of Ol Drake on vocals/guitars and new member Adam Smith of RipTide as rhythm guitarist.
Today, the band has released a final single before the album drops - the thunderous new track “The Thing (1982)”. Intoxicating guitars build up to an unconditional, heavy storm of thrash metal: “The Thing (1982)” and its razor-sharp arrangement delivers another rousing aspect of Evile's new album. Bold cinematic influences merge with breakneck speed riffs and Ol Drake’s brute, unyielding vocals, highlighting Evile's potent musical expertise.
Vocalist/guitarist Ol Drake comments: "The third and final single from Hell Unleashed is not only based on my favorite movie of all time, but it's a strong contender for my favorite song off the album. This track goes through so many cool changes, with frenetic vocals which mirror the subject matter, and we couldn't be prouder of not only this song, but the entire album it's featured on. Blast "The Thing" as loud as you can!"
Hell Unleashed is a raucous and masterful thrash metal attack! In just 41 minutes, the album unchains the unbridled forces of hell, catches some rousing demons of the past, and provides classical thrash metal with a contemporary yet hard-edged touch. The newly staffed four-piece strikes again on nine explosive tracks, leaving nothing but a hammering world of sound taken apart by thrash. Endangering guitar lines, which quickly build up to a furious thrash manifesto and attack the eardrum at breakneck speed, meet the merciless velocity Evile are known and loved for.
Hell Unleashed was produced by Chris Clancy at Backstage Studios, UK, and will not only feature explosive guest backing vocals from Brian Posehn, but also include a cover song.
Ol Drake adds: "This is the first album Evile have done to include a cover song in the tracklisting. I've been a big fan of death metal for a long time, and seeing as this album is on the more extreme side of thrash vocally and musically, we thought it was a perfect opportunity to cover Mortician's 'Zombie Apocalypse'. It has one of the greatest riffs in it! We're also very excited about the return of the legendary Michael Whelan (Sepultura, Obituary, Stephen King) as cover artist. He did the art for our second album and he's always a pleasure to work with."
In North America, Hell Unleashed will be available in LP format in black vinyl, as well as in limited edition red vinyl (limited to 200), CD Jewel Case and digital formats. A special Limited Diehard Edition is also available, including an LP in Red/White Splatter vinyl, as well as an exclusive Artprint and band logo patch (limited to 100).

LOCK UP Release Official Video For "Inside Cthulhu's Eye" Featuring AT THE GATES Singer TOMAS LINDBERGInitially joining the band in 2002 for the Hate Breeds Suffering album, Tomas Lindberg (Grotesque, At The Gates, Disfear) who also recorded the Necropolis Transparent and Play Fast Or Die - Live in Japan albums with Lock Up, is now back in the fold joining Kevin Sharp for more insane malevolent grind and death vokill attack.
Lock Up is currently recording the brand new album, The Dregs Of Hades, to be released via Listenable next fall. The Dregs Of Hades album will also feature new drummer Adam Jarvis (Misery Index, Pig Destroyer) on drums following Nick Barker’s departure last year.
Adam Jarvis comments: "When Shane first asked me to join the already elite league of extraordinary gentlemen I was beyond ecstatic! THEN.... I find out Tompa was rejoining the band and I went bananas! So excited for everyone to hear what madness we’ve created so far, and for a double assault from Kevin and Tompa that is bound to make you want to punch stuff!"
The man himself, Tomas Lindberg, is bloody chuffed: "I can't begin to explain how chuffed I am to be back with these, my favourite grinding beasts. When Shane approached me about rejoining, being part of a dual vokill attack together with Kevin, I said yes straight away. I love the Demonization album, and Kevin's vocal delivery there. So, I was very curious and excited to work together with him, writing and arranging lyrics. My idea is that we have very different vocal styles, and that deathgrind fans now will get the best of both worlds. Adding Adam Jarvis to the mix has been nothing but a success as well, his relentless bashing has mos def added an extra dimension to the Lock Up sound. It will be a total blast performing these new tracks in front of a crowd, these are full on old-school deathgrind ragers! Again; chuffed!"
Shane Embury adds: “I have said before on many occasions that creating songs, recording and playing shows with Lock UP since the band's inception in 1998 has always been hinged on madness and old-fashioned grindcore comradery! When we discussed the possibility of another album it made sense I felt to push the insanity further down the rabbit hole and ask Tompa to rejoin The Dregs of Hades to front the band alongside Kevin Sharp - ha! I have always loved that two singer approach, if done right it’s marvellous dynamics, and believe me, this next album is doing it right!!! When festivals do finally return it’s gonna be a lot of fun and that’s what counts in the end... be prepared!"
As guitarist Anton Reisenegger concludes: "A match certainly made in Hades. Can't wait to unleash the dual vomit storms!"
Lock Up will release a limited edition vinyl of their live album, Play Fast Or Die - Live In Japan - never previously released on vinyl - next spring via Listenable. First copies will come with a limited edition bonus 7", entitled "Inside Cthulhu’s Eye" featuring new recordings with both Tomas Lindberg and Kevin Sharp on vocals. KAYAK Launch Title Track From Upcoming Out Of This World AlbumLegendary Dutch progressive rockers Kayak are set to return with their 18th studio album Out Of This World on May 7, 2021. They have launched the video for the album’s epic title track; watch below.
Ton Scherpenzeel comments: “Ever had the feeling you wanted out of this world that sometimes seems to border on insanity? This is about longing for an escape to some faraway peaceful place with the one(s) you love. For reference, we’ve literally included a phrase from an old Kayak song about a modern Noah and his space ark.”
The album is now also available for preorder, arriving as a Limited CD Digipak, Gatefold 2LP + CD, and as Digital Album. An exclusive blood red vinyl edition is available directly from the band. Preorder here.
Out Of This World, the band’s eighteenth studio album, with 15 new tracks, spanning 70 minutes of energetic and incredibly diverse material- though still very much recognizable as Kayak. It is clear that the new found energy has gained even more momentum since Hans Eijkenaar rejoined the group. Although they were forced to cancel all tours because Ton Scherpenzeel suffered a heart attack at the end of 2019, and immediately after that because of the Covid pandemic, we’re hearing a band that, since the demise of Pim Koopman in 2009, has not sounded more together, balanced and motivated.
